Bar
Ledger Restaurant is an upscale dining spot and bar located in a 19th-century bank building, formerly known as the Salem Savings Bank. Chef-owner Matt O'Neil has created a progressive New England concept that elevates traditional 19th-century dishes, cocktails, and techniques with modern resources. The restaurant's high-style cuisine features artful plating of colorful dishes and creative wood-fired offerings, house-made charcuterie, and raw bar items.
Ledger is a lively, vibrant restaurant with fantastic food and a buzzing atmosphere. Their wine list is excellent - definitely a treat for anyone who enjoys a good bottle. The menu is creative and upscale, with dishes that are both delicious and skillfully executed. Flavors are spot-on, and portions are generous. If you find yourself in Salem, Ledger should absolutely be on your list.

Soooooo good! The food was good, the service was excellent- and best part was the Halloween spirit! We were there during October 25’ and LOVED it! The drinks come with cute spooky decorations, the desert was a graveyard… you understand what I mean. It was all full of good vibes and fun. But the food and drinks were just really good! A super professional bar!!
Dovrat Z — Google review
Went to the ledger while visiting Salem for my partners birthday ! It was a wonderful experience. The food , the drinks , our waitress Emma all exceptional. We went on a Friday in October 25’ and it was busy , but the seating is spaced out perfectly and they got the food out in a very timely manner as well as providing you with water as soon as you are seated and after walking those streets you are tired! The menu is small , but truly has something for everyone. They do the touch of Halloween / Salem PERFECTLY, nothing is lacking in flavor or design.

This place was so cool. It’s a converted bank into a restaurant. So the decor was really cool. The food was pretty good. We had got a bunch of stuff and shared it all. We shared the cheese board which was amazing we also got extra jam. And then we got the shrimp which had a weird flavor and then we shared the Brussel sprouts and the skirt steak. I thought it was all very good. I got excited that a beer had my name in it only to realize later it was non alcoholic. So that was fun lol We were sat in another section not the main area which I didn’t love but the service was still good

Definitely the best place we've eaten in Salem. We made reservations a few weeks in advance and came for dinner and brunch. Dinner: The burger and fries were delicious and everything perfectly seasoned. No notes. Devilish Diva was a fun, spicy drink. Brunch: The vegetable hash had a lightly dressed salad and roasted vegetables with sunny side up eggs. Both were great. Check on the daily donut, the fudge glazed was fine, but would pass next time. Overall, would definitely come back.
Keanne M — Google review
The food and drinks were exceptional. I started with the tuna tartare, which was so delicious I glady would have eaten it a second time for my entree. It had just the right amount of spice, excellent flavors, and the taro chips made it a clean dish to eat with clean presentation as shown in the photo. I enjoyed the pork belly starter for my entree, which was a phenomenal combination of flavors and also very well plated. Both starter portions were generous, but manageable. As someone with extensive bartending experience, I must highly recommend the Bruja Morada cocktail. A simple, but incredibly flavorful and well balanced beverage, with only 4 ingredients, counting the orchid that was tastefully used a garnish. My only complaint is that our service felt very rushed, and we repeatedly had to ask for more time, as we were there to enjoy a lovely meal and take our time. That being said, the overall experience was excellent, and I will absolutely visit again.

We chose Ledger for our wedding day not only due to our sentimental connection to Salem, but also because every time we dine there we have found it to be outstanding. Our wedding was no exception. It could not have been more perfect. The entire communication process leading up to the date was clear and especially accommodating. Service and hospitality on the day of was impeccable. We were so impressed with the food and drinks and so were our guests! We are still receiving compliments about how delicious the charcuterie, passed hors d'oeuvres, entrees, desserts, and donuts were. Everyone LOVED the cocktails as well and the space was just perfect. We can't recommend Ledger enough. Photos by Spagnolo Photography

Nice ambiance. But for food that is supposed to be amazing after a 2 hour wait the chicken came out warm and amazing but the side were cold. The jumbo shrimp came on a dish unlike most restaurants that have them on ice in a glass. Wose part is they didnt even check that the shrimp was cleaned well. The pasta dish was cold and the waitress then questioned if maybe you dont like those ingredients.

Seafood restaurant
Turner's Seafood at Lyceum Hall in Salem is a charming 19th-century venue that offers a mix of upscale and casual dining. The restaurant features an oyster bar and serves New England-style seafood, including a variety of delicious dishes such as salmon entree, tuna wonton appetizer, and tuna burger. As a family-run establishment, Turner's Seafood prides itself on offering super-fresh New England catch to customers around the country.
Definitely worth the wait! We were skeptical of a “touristy” type of place with very long lines, but this place is genuinely good! You know it’s a great restaurant when they make a simple dish like fish and chips so good. Fries taste like homemade with the right amount of seasoning. Oysters were fresh. JP took great care of our table. He recommended the Hake Marsala and it’s one of the best I’ve had in a while. The service team made us feel welcome and it looks like they are happy to be there. The queue is long, but it’s worth it! You won’t be disappointed.
Touty P — Google review
Visiting from California, we saw how highly rated Turner’s was and decided to give it a try and wow, it absolutely blew us away! We knew seafood in Boston would be good, but this went above and beyond. The lobster bisque and clam chowder were out of this world. The oysters were fresh and delicious, and the crab cakes were packed with flavor (that unexpected coleslaw pairing was perfect!). The mussels were so good we wanted to drink the broth, and the haddock dinner is an absolute must, cooked to perfection and so flaky and tender. The highlight, though, was the customer service. Our server Sedona was incredible, so personable, knowledgeable, and attentive. She answered all our questions with such patience and enthusiasm. We even called over the manager, Oscar, to rave about her, and he was just as kind and gracious. This place truly lives up to its ratings. We can’t recommend it enough!

Delicious food, wonderful service, warm and inviting atmosphere. Initially, I was seated at a table in the far back of the restaurant by the rear door (this unfortunately happens to me a lot as a solo traveler) but I saw a small both open near the fireplace and requested it. They gladly seated me there and the rest of the evening was great! I had 1/2 dozen oysters, the stuffed clams appetizer, lobster bisque, haddock piccata, and finished with the sticky coffee pudding. I also tried the non-alcoholic version of a French 75, which was perfectly balanced between tart and sweet. Every single dish was delightful, the flavors had depth and worked very well together. I will definitely return!

This was our first meal on our recent vacation leading up to Halloween in Salem. Both the wife and I decided to step out of our comfort zones and try a bunch of new food. I ordered a carb cake appetizer to kick this off and she tried some Clam Chowda (gotta have the accent 😂). We shared both and both ended up being well above expectations and both made it on to our new favorite food list. For the mains I went with the pasta special and the Mrs decided to try a lobsta roll (sorry she was on such a roll with the accent I can't leave it out). My pasta was an 11 out of 10! I've never had swordfish before and the pieces in the pasta were pretty tasty. No the Mrs learned she is not a fan of lobster warm (she's tried before) or cold in this instance so being the nice guy I am we switched. I didn't think the lobster roll was bad even though lobster is not high on my list of favorite foods. The service was fantastic even with the busy time of day and packed house. The place is very clean and to me gives an upscale relaxed vibe. I would definitely go back if I ever end up in Salem again!

Very cute restaurant. Great seafood and so many options. The oysters were so tasty. And I love their salad and clam chowder soup. The crab cakes were also really yummy. I think each item was worth the price. I would make a reservation in advance so you don’t have to wait too long outside. A great stop when staying in Salem!

Visited Turner’s on a Thursday night in October. We had booked a 7:00 reservation a month in advance. Once in Salem we wanted to do an 8:00 ghost tour. We stopped in Turner’s late afternoon to ask if we showed up early would we have a chance of being seated earlier. The hostess made some adjustments and was able to get us a 6:15 reservation. When booking I told them we were celebrating an anniversary. Every person from the hostess to the servers told us Happy Anniversary. Our server Claire was so sweet and attentive. They even gave us a card. We split the swordfish pasta and lobster bisque. The lobster bisque was the creamiest i e ever had. But the highlight was the pumpkin cheesecake. It was possibly the best thing we ate on our vacation! Highly recommend!

As we were a group of six. They accommodated us quickly. Our server was excellent and very helpful. The food was out of this world. We are definitely coming back again. Thank you! 🙏
Cesar B — Google review
We got there right as they opened at 12 and there was already a line. Fortunately it moved quickly and we only waited for maybe 5-10 minutes to get a table. We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed the atmosphere. The food and service were both great. We ordered the crab cake which might have been my new favorite. To us it was worth the wait.

Seafood restaurant
Restaurant
Sea Level Oyster Bar is a casual joint with stunning water views, offering a wide-ranging seafood-focused menu. From Caribbean-spiced salmon to New England classics like the Salem Sound clambake, there's something for everyone. The eponymous bivalves are a must-try, served freshly shucked on shellfish platters or baked with unique toppings. Additionally, Sea Level Oyster Bar offers a fun and socially distant dining experience with its zipline taco delivery system.
While visiting Salem, we stopped by Sea Level Oyster Bar for dinner and ended up really enjoying the evening. The location is great — right near the water with a laid-back atmosphere and plenty of seating both inside and out. If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot outside, the view alone is worth it. We started off with the Sangria Fishbowls, which are big, fun, and perfect for a vacation mood. They were a little on the watery side at first, but after two of them, they definitely got the job done — refreshing, fruity, and great for sharing or sipping slowly (my girlfriend did neither and kept them all for herself). For dinner, my girlfriend ordered the fish tacos, which were fresh, well-seasoned, and full of flavor. They came with a great slaw and sauce combo that tied everything together. I had the baked cod, which was cooked just right — flaky, not overdone, and served with simple but tasty sides. I also tried one of their bright blue tropical cocktails — sweet, a bit strong, and perfect with seafood. I wish I remembered the name, but it added to the fun of the meal. The highlight of the night, though, might have been dessert. We ordered the fried Oreos, and wow — they were incredible. Warm, gooey, and served with just the right amount of gooey chocolate sauce and powdered sugar, they were the perfect end to the meal and something I’d go back for alone. Service was friendly and relaxed, and even though the drinks could’ve been a bit stronger, the food, dessert, and overall experience more than made up for it. Definitely a great place to unwind after a day in Salem. We’ll be back!
Scott M — Google review
I love this place. Fresh oysters, best mussels in town and great drinks. Parking can be a bit hard to find. When you go try and get seated upstairs where it has this awesome open air concept. bathrooms were very clean and service was good for Salem.

If you're even THINKING of going to Salem, you absolutely must eat here. It was superb. 5 out of 5 stars. Son got swordfish, my daughter and I split a Caesar salad and lobster mac (the portion of lobster was generous) and my husband got white fish with scallops. When I tell you it was incredible, I'm not mincing words... It was mind blowing. Oh, also it was really sweet the boat was gal let me charge my phone at her desk (I was at like 15%) and we had to catch the train which my phone had the tickets so it was helpful since I wouldnt have been able to access the tickets with a dead phone. Loved loved loved this restaurant.

Eat here! Every single item we ordered was perfect. From the lobster roll to the pimento hamburger to the pizza-we demolished our meals in seconds!!! They were so good. Definitely make a reservation, but this place was true New England. The service was amazing, the food came out quickly and cooked to perfection and I’d return in a second. I highly recommend this establishment.
Melissa L — Google review
Absolute perfection from start to finish! The stuffed oysters were out of this world — rich, buttery, and bursting with flavor. The lobster roll? Fresh, sweet, and piled high with tender chunks of lobster, exactly how it should be. The shrimp was perfectly cooked, juicy and full of flavor, and every bite just hit right. Even the mocktails were amazing — creative, refreshing, and honestly just as satisfying as any cocktail. The whole experience felt relaxed yet polished and a great waterfront vibe. If you're in Salem and want seafood done right, Sea Level Oyster Bar is it. Every dish was a hit!

Terrific place for a solid meal down on the Wharf in Salem! Sea Level Oyster Bar is the sister restaurant of Finz next door (one of my favorite spots in town), and they have a lot of great eats to choose from! We had the Fried Pickles - a HUGE portion that is perfect for the pickle lover in your family. The O-Strings were delish - Onion rings cut thin, battered, fried, and paired perfectly with their special sauce. The Garlic Bread Pizza was tasty and a perfect side dish - flavorful thin crust pizza with a delightful roasted buttery herb flavor, chili flakes and Parmesan. Recommended. Street Corn Shrimp Tacos were nuts of yummy goodness - big Cajun style Shrimp combined with creamy street corn and a cilantro lime salsa to die for... well done. The Island Salmon was uber tasty - a jerk rubbed, large piece of Atlantic Salmon paired with coconut jasmine rice, corn ribs and a mango salsa. Great dining experience - server was great, and the staff was pleasant. Highly recommended.

Love the Scary Mary here! Best bloody Mary’s served w lunch!! Service is a little slow but it’s well worth the wait! Nice restaurant bar - 2 Levels w water views right by the friendship of Salem Merchant ship. Close to the ferry as well. The oysters are always spot on as well!! Great seafood! Great beer selection! Great drinks!

Gulu-Gulu Cafe is a cozy and unpretentious coffeehouse located in Salem, offering a diverse global menu of small bites and live music. It perfectly captures the bohemian atmosphere of present-day Salem, serving as part sandwich shop, part coffee-and-beer bar, and part live music venue. Whether you choose to sit inside or on the patio, you can enjoy fresh crepes, gourmet sandwiches, spiced pickled eggs, marinated brie with bread, and more.
Amazing cafe! The food was so delicious and as someone who enjoys a strong cup of good coffee, their coffee was really good. The mindsweeper had a ZING to it and I even got a cold brew to go. Our server Billy was amazing, on top of everything and really sweet. It also looks like they have a variety of cool events throughout the week!

Its a cool atmosphere for sure but food and service weren't worth the 45- 1 hour wait. Hostess wasn't very friendly and wouldn't even let us use the restroom until after we were seated at our table despite being on the waitlist. The who hash was soggy and overly spiced. The scrambled eggs were bland. However, the homemade sour dough bread was great and so were the waffles. Maybe we were there on a bad day but overall, not worth it in my opinion.
Holly S — Google review
This was in my opinion the best tasting coffee we had in Salem. We went to multiple coffee shops and breakfast places. Great everything bagel sandwich as well. My husband also enjoyed his meal. Our waitress was great and very friendly. Fun atmosphere and artwork. Would highly recommend.
Rachel B — Google review
We were greeted warmly outside the door and the host took our names and phone number and said we could go shop and they would text us. We got a text and sat down and were greeted by a wonderful waiter who gave us recommendations. We ordered the fancy grilled cheese and the European and the pretzel appetizer. It all came quickly and was absolutely phenomenal. The host came over and asked how we were doing and what our plans were for the day and gave us some recommendations in town. The bill already has the tip in it, which I appreciated, and the waiter thanked us and the host waved goodbye and told us to have a great visit. The vibe and food was excellent. In the morning they had a pop up tent with coffee and pastries and we got a “lobster tail” to take as we walked to our appointment. It was delicious and we were happy to have something yummy to eat while we walked. Gulu Gulu feels more like you are visiting a good friend who really knows how to cook!

Good vibes and great coffee! I got the Bee Gee. It's hands down the best coffee I've ever had. It was so good my wife and I ordered another one to take on the go. I can't recommended this place enough. Great service and atmosphere.

The food we had was good. The staff were friendly. It's a nice little place, good to relax in after walking around all day. They have a bar inside , as well. They even have a tent set up outside so you can order from a selection of coffees or lattes without having to wait in line to be seated. I would return.

Pizza restaurant
Bambolina is a popular spot known for its rustic Italian cuisine, particularly its wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas. The restaurant offers a cozy and hip atmosphere, attracting locals and visitors alike. In addition to their delicious pizzas, Bambolina also serves pasta dishes and sides like marinated mushrooms. Notably, the restaurant's kitchen is also used by Kokeshi, a former ramen noodle place owned by the same proprietor.
Outstanding! I wish were in town long so we could have went back for the Pizza, every pie we saw looks amazing! The Crispy Chicken and Lemon Grass Dumplings were so good! The Colonel Sanders Ramen was insanely tasty and my Salmon Bowl was delicious. Would love to try the Pasta and Pizza next time! Service was on point, and staff was excellent!

So glad we stopped Our server Wislene was perfect!!! I highly mushroom fettuccini, the flavor was the best I’ve had in such a long time. The pizza was good - sorry no photo. The pork belly steam bun was delicious too. Perfect meal and glad that 3 of us split the pasta’s.

A nice, clean, and contemporary atmosphere, conveniently located on Derby street. I had the sausage pizza that was a little salty. The pizza sauce was very mild and used very sparingly. The sauce wasn't robust, which is how I like my sauce. They have drafts, wine, and IPAs. I don't think they have cocktails.
Elongen J — Google review
My wife and I really enjoyed Bambolina! My ham and blue pizza was the perfect combination of flavors and my wife thought the Margherita pizza was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. We had absolutely no problem paying the 3% kitchen fee considering it ended up being $1.87 lol. We can't wait to come back next time we are in salem!

I chuckle when I see people lining up for the witch tavern across the street. This place is underrated! The pizza was fantastic. The bolognese delicious. The tuna poke bowl was lovely. Service outstanding. I’d honestly go back here instead of the other crowded places in Salem that seem overrated.

We stopped into Bambolina while visiting Salem and were so glad we did! We ordered the margarita pizza and it was absolutely delicious — perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients. The service was fast and friendly, which we really appreciated since we were on a bit of a time crunch. The restaurant was very clean and had a calm, quiet atmosphere. There weren’t many people dining around 5pm on a Wednesday, so it was a relaxing break in the middle of a busy day. We wish we could’ve stayed longer to enjoy it! Would definitely go back and highly recommend.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Delicious! Bombolina’s has hands-down some of the best pizza I’ve ever had. The crust is perfectly crisp on the outside and soft inside, with that homemade flavor you just can’t fake. Their sauce tastes fresh and tangy, and the toppings are generous and high-quality. You can tell they care about every detail. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. If you’re a pizza lover, Bombolina’s is a must-try. I’ll definitely be coming back for more! 🍕❤️

Nestled in the heart of Salem, Settler is a charming eatery that beautifully marries rustic chic decor with an elevated New American menu. Helmed by Chef Aaron Chambers, who brings his extensive experience from Michelin-starred kitchens to this intimate venue, Settler focuses on local sourcing and scratch-made dishes infused with Mediterranean flavors.
A very intimate and cozy place with really phenomenal food choices. We absolutely loved everything that was served. This restaurant offers an ideal environment for a date, but it is also very kid-friendly. I would definitely return…

Absolutely best experience at the Settler for my partner and I’s anniversary! We felt so welcomed here and every single staff member was so friendly! I’m vegan with a dairy & apple allergy and they were SO accommodating with my allergies & dietary restrictions. They walked us through the menu and ensured what was safe for me to eat. I really appreciated the vegan options on the menu, as where my hometown is it can be difficult to find options for everyone. The food was so delicious and everything was so fresh. The aperol spritz are amazing as well. Absolutely recommend dining at the Settler!

Booked a last minute reservation here and had an experience of a lifetime. The staff were so kind and worked together like a well oiled machine. Our server, Emma was fantastic and offered recommendations and treated us like we were regulars. The menu in October was a prix fixe menu and every item we ordered was perfect. I can’t emphasize enough how delightful the hospitality of the Settler staff was, it truly made the entire experience even better than if we just got good food. 10/10 would recommend to anyone visiting Salem.

I rarely leave reviews, but I had such a wonderful experience at Settler that I feel compelled! I came alone, sat at the bar, and received truly excellent service; the waiters went above and beyond. The recommended wine paired perfectly with my food (I got the chicken, with a side of crispy potatoes, and pistachio affogato for dessert), and every aspect of the meal was perfection. No notes, just an incredible meal.

Went to Settler for our anniversary. Food was excellent, but the service was impeccable. Something I would’ve expected from a restaurant with a star or two. Lots and lots of small details that I experienced and saw that really made their entire foh staff stand out. Service like that turns a wonderful meal into something so memorable. Will be back to try their sister restaurant, Bernadette.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 A Magical Anniversary Dinner My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary at Settlers, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The atmosphere was warm and intimate, the food was absolutely incredible, and the service was thoughtful and kind. Every detail made the evening feel so special ~ from the beautifully crafted dishes to the little anniversary surprise. A true gem in Salem. We’ll definitely be back!

One of the highlights for me is the fact that they have seasonal menus. It means they use local available products to create different courses. That is very nice!! Besides that, the flavors were good. A little expensive for me, but it worths it and I would love to repeat / recommend it!
Diana G — Google review
Where to start... This meal was one of the most expensive meals I have had for two... but man was it worth it. My wife and I shared chefs choice appetizer and 2 starter courses. These ranged from a amazing falafel, oysters with roe, mussels, and the best sour dough bread I've ever had. What takes the cake were the mains, where my wife and I shared a NY strip perfectly seared to medium rare and the fresh caught Cod. The Cod was the standout it was so plump and full, had I not known what I ordered, I would never would have guessed it was Cod. This was on par with sushi in terms of freshness and it just just melted in your mouth like butter. 10/10.

Red's Sandwich Shop is a beloved local spot in Salem, offering classic American breakfasts and sandwiches in a cozy, country-style setting. The menu features traditional breakfast options with unique twists, including specialties like Brekkie, Pratie Cakes, and the Bama Benny. Located in the historic London Coffee House on Central Street, it's a favorite among locals and visitors alike.
I ate here a couple of times for breakfast on my recent trip. I’m basing my review on my first visit as the second was a little lack luster in comparison. I got the Perfect Hominy. It has avocado, bacon, a fried egg and the most delicious roasted tomato all atop the best cheese grits I have ever had! I also had a pumpkin roll for breakfast dessert. Highly recommend.

7:20 a.m. Halloween Morning Walked into a red café in Salem called Red’s Sandwich Shop. Ordered the “I Summon a Breakfast Burrito.” No theatrics, no spells, just eggs, cheese, and the kind of spice that hits harder than it should that early in the morning. Perfectly warm, perfectly simple. Ate it fast, left slower. There’s a reason this place has won best breakfast 30+ in a row. And now I know why. Praise the 80 year old shop.
Alduien — Google review
Dining at Red’s Sandwich Shop feels like stepping back in time in the best way possible. This historic spot has a warm, old-school atmosphere that makes you feel instantly welcome. The décor carries a sense of tradition and charm, giving you the impression that you’re part of a local story that has been going on for decades. The food is exactly what you hope for — hearty, flavorful, and prepared with care. The sandwiches are generous and well-balanced, with fresh ingredients that make each bite satisfying. Beyond the sandwiches, the menu offers plenty of comforting classics that remind you why this place has been a favorite for so long. What I loved most is that the atmosphere and the food complement each other perfectly. It’s not just about having a meal; it’s about enjoying a piece of local history while tasting food that feels both authentic and delicious. Red’s Sandwich Shop is more than a restaurant — it’s a tradition. If you’re visiting the area or looking for a spot with real character, this place is absolutely worth it.

Red's was good. It has an old café vibe to it. The wait was long, but understandably so. We had a group of 6 but were willing to divide into whatever number of people would get us seated the fastest, which we told the hostess as she proceeded to seat 2 people in line after us. It was also annoying because we saw several seats open and the hostess didn't seat us at those. Either way the "spiral obsession" coffee and egg/bacon/cheese sandwich i ordered were good. Overall, a very good lunch spot in Salem. I recommend they limit the menu even more to increase velocity and table turnover seeing as there are a LOT of options on the menu.
Josh H — Google review
Red’s is an institution in Salem, and I enjoyed my first visit overall! I went with a specialty coffee: the Up the Banana Tree, which was good but tasted slightly watered down. I then had the Monte Cristo (a personal fave) with breakfast potatoes. The sandwich innards were delicious, but there was no jam nor powdered sugar served with the sandwich, essential. Also, the potatoes weren’t crispy enough for me, personally. My dining partner had the breakfast grits bowl and really enjoyed it. Overall a decent first trip, and I’d go back.
Benjamin H — Google review
It’s a greasy spoon diner, hold the flavor. The corned beef hash Benedict fell short of being delicious because the hash wasn’t browned or really cooked crispy enough, the poached eggs were over, and nothing was seasoned well. The most atrocious part of it was that the home fries were cut so big and so think, they were starchy with very little crunch. May as well serve boiled whole potatoes if you’re going to do them like that. Perhaps I have a different standard coming from the South, but I have had much better breakfast food many other places. Also, this was my second visit to Red’s. I’d say they are pretty consistently mid.

Best breakfast spot in Salem! We ate here several times. Food and service are fantastic! Clean, affordable, and cozy. Our server was great and gave us several recommendations on other places to check out around Salem. And they have, in my opinion, the best eggs Benedict ever! The hollandaise sauce is AMAZING!!

Bar
This all-inclusive bar just north of downtown Salem is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike due to its delicious comfort food, lively atmosphere, and great selection of drinks. From the friendly bartenders to the TVs mounted throughout the establishment, All Souls Lounge is perfect for a night out with friends.
All Souls Lounge is a quirky and atmospheric spot that's definitely worth checking out if you're in Salem. I had the most expensive hot dog I’ve ever ordered — but to be fair, it was massive and definitely more of a meal than a snack. The real standout, though, was the crab dip — absolutely incredible. Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly paired with their house drinks. Speaking of drinks, the cocktails were top-notch — well-balanced, creative, and clearly made with care. The staff really made the experience memorable; they were attentive, friendly, and brought great energy to the place. If you're looking for a place with good vibes, strong drinks, and some elevated bar food, All Souls Lounge delivers.

The vegan dogs here were delicious. The spinach dip is the best I’ve ever had. The server was very kind and attentive even though he was the only one on staff the evening we were there.

All Souls Tavern is an absolute gem in Salem! From the moment you walk in, you feel welcomed by the warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The food is outstanding—creative, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The menu has something for everyone, whether you’re in the mood for small plates to share or a hearty entrée. The drinks are just as impressive, with a great selection of craft cocktails, local beers, and thoughtful pairings. What really sets All Souls apart is the vibe—it manages to be both lively and relaxed, perfect for a night out with friends or a cozy date night. Every visit feels special, and the consistency in both food and service makes it a spot you can always count on. Salem has no shortage of great places to eat and drink, but All Souls Tavern is truly one of the best. Can’t wait to go back!

Stopped for some food and drinks before going back to Boston. Drinks were mid. Tomato soup was a bit on the salty side but tasty. Grilled cheese was good. Cute little bar with nice decorations. Staff was friendly.
Macii C — Google review
We loved everything about this place - the ambiance, the bartenders & servers, and especially the food! We each had a grilled cheese, and shared an Elote dog and a cup of soup. The food was incredible - the grilled cheese cooked perfectly and ooey gooey, they do not skimp on the hot dog toppings, and the soup was delightful. I love a fancy cocktail, and my friend is not much of a drinker so she enjoyed one of the mocktails. We loved the hot dog so much, we ended up going back here for a late night snack after an underwhelming dinner at a different place left us hungry later in the night. All Soul's did not disappoint! On top of the delicious food, both times we went, everyone there was super friendly and attentive. It was busy both times we were there, but the servers were quick and I could see that they were giving all of the tables around us the same great service.

Fun spot! Great craft cocktail offerings with historic recipes. I enjoyed the French 75, hubs had the satin coffin. Both were superb. The nachos came out almost before we finished ordering them. Relaxed vibe, cool place.

The minute you walk into ALL SOULS you feel a warm cozy feeling like an old friend perhaps you haven’t seen in a while or perhaps you just caught up yesterday. Speaking of which, AS is the perfect venue for such an event. Friendship & Love is just in the air whether you’re a regular local or a new friend checking it out for the first time. The menu has old school favorites and every variety of a grilled cheese you can possibly think of (my faves) and if you to add something, like my favorite BACON…no problem or subtract. Now to cocktails…some of the best in Salem which is why many within the industry put All Souls at the top of their list when some of our most talented bartenders are looking for a good drink. Their Manhattan’s & Old Fashioneds are some of the best I’ve tried and bartenders like Angie will make any variation you may want to entertain, including mocktails off the menu if you’re taking a break and making some healthier choices. Finally, ALL SOULS welcomes EVERYONE that means everyone…poor, rich, white, black, Latina, Croatian and Martians if they ever decide to land here (unlikely given recent history) nevertheless, they’ll definitely go to ALL SOULS. AS is a safe space for our LGBTQ community here in Salem as is the ENTIRE CITY and All Souls is proud of that as our most of our establishments. If you have a differing opinion then we invite you to certainly go elsewhere…

The restaurant has been featured by media personalities like Guy Fieri for its unique offerings such as the Lobstertini.
Nice chill spot for drinks and food! We had the perfect storm cocktail and it was tasty. The poutine delicious, we shared a fried platter for 4 and the best was the lobster roll, so good, the best lobster I’ve had probably!
Mike — Google review
I was excited to finally try The Lobster Shanty after hearing so much about it, but the experience just didn’t deliver. We were seated quickly, and I really enjoyed the local pumpkin beer — that was a highlight. Unfortunately, service was quite slow despite the restaurant not being busy, and the food was disappointing. The $40 Connecticut lobster roll was completely overwhelmed by oil, which hid the natural flavor of the lobster. The chicken wings were also dry and lacked any real sauce. For a lunch that came to over $100, I left feeling let down rather than satisfied. Hopefully this was just an off day, because the setting and menu have real potential.
Corbmac M — Google review
Has indoor and outdoor seating. In the mix of everything. The cheese curds came out hot and good. The Mac and cheese came back out with barely warm noodles. And the crackers and top usually add a crisp to it. But they were just cold crushed up crackers. I didn't even finish half of it. Lobster roll was good but the bun was soggy when it came out.
Tiffany D — Google review
We experienced this on Halloween, and managed to get in line right as they opened. This turned out to be a great move because later it was hours to wait all over town. The service here was wonderful. The guy who took our order was a real help in navigating our first lobster rolls. We ended up getting one of each (traditional and Connecticut styles) in my mind, I thought I would love the hot one better, but I was surprised at how fantastic the traditional cold was. So much flavor! I will say, I saw them for between 25 and 35 a couple times through the day elsewhere and prices here were around 42 I think. But I was willing to pay that for such good service and amazing food.

What a great place, Mike P our server was amazing with our kids, we had a great time, was a really cool place and the lobster pie was amazing. I would absolutely recommend this if you’re in Salem dealing with witches and goblins. The lobster casserole will not disappoint you. The kids enjoyed the mac & cheese as well as the hotdog. A great visit and end to our day. I have to say that the onion rings were probably the best that I have ever had. Great service, great food and a cool place.

On our Triple D must visit list. Food was good, staff were friendly, atmospher was ok, a bit pricey but it is a popular tourist stop. We got there right before opening so 1st in line....line grew fast so be prepared to wait. No reservation accepted. Indoor/Outdoor seating.

Wait in the line. It's worth it. My teenager, husband, and myself all loved our food, the atmosphere, and the wait staff. It was the perfect blend of coastal Massachusetts food + downtown Salem. Everything you want it to be.
Meg S — Google review
Came during Halloween weekend so the long wait was expected. Had the lobster roll, Connecticut style, and while it was good, it came in at a hefty $42. Mac and cheese was more reasonable, and the steak we added to it was cooked medium almost perfectly.

The Ugly Mug Diner is a popular daytime cafe known for its inventive American diner fare and specialty drinks. Located in a bustling area, it offers updated classics such as Belgian waffles with duck confit and candied pecans, deluxe egg sandwiches and Benedicts, along with specialty drinks like egg creams and beer cocktails. The Brew Box at the diner serves counter-service breakfast featuring items like avocado toast, biscuit egg sandwiches, pastries, and Tandem Coffee.
Sampled the Ugly Mug on whim, so glad we did! We did wait but it was quick. Ordered specialty coffees and were pleasantly surprised they were so large and delicious. Lavender latte was well balanced and not soapy at all. Breakfast wise all the food was tasty and worth trying. I really loved the sweetness of the pancakes and the spiciness of the potatoes together. A great spot if you can get in!

Just a slight step above diner style. The food was tasty. The atmosphere was great! Especially the wall mural pictured in my review. I think the staff were especially great. I watched them handle a couple harder situations with ease and empathy.

Got to this wonderful joint bright and early in the morning so had no need to wait. Was second through the door. Loved the atmosphere and the staff was very friendly. Started with the speedy turtle latte which was just what I needed to start the day(carmel mocha latte very well presented). Then I had the blue plate special. 3 large blueberry pancakes with a mound of bacon and american fries. I was pleasantly surprised by how amazing the pancakes were! They weren't over fluffy and dry. I was so happy 😊. I will definitely be back next time I visit the area.

Busy spot, thankfully we got a table right away. Service was a little slow but friendly and didn't rush us out the door. Food was good. Eggs Benny were good but poached eggs were a little undercooked. Scotch eggs were tasty. Home fries were sweet potato or regular, both were a bit greasy for my taste. Overall, we had a nice breakfast and would recommend.
TodayIsOurAdventure — Google review
Not good. I ordered an omelette, stuffed French toast with berries and cream cheese, soda and a mimosa. I never received the mimosa. The english muffin was burnt. Potatoes were great. My biggest problem was that the “stuffed” French toast was indeed not stuffed. Also the soda had a weird plastic taste. Complete waste of $4 because I could barely finish it.

Went in early october so it was getting crowded with the salem crowd. Doesn't take reservations or take your name and number after waiting on line so you can still walk around till they call you. So you have to stand on line and wait, first come first served. Small restaurant too. Staff was friendly. Food was good. They did mess up my eggs benny. I told them over medium or over hard bc I hate runny eggs and asked for extra hollandaise. They made the eggs over easy with regular amount of sauce. The spinach was supposed to be sautéed but it wasnt. The coffee drinks were delicious. I didnt like that the utensils were already on the table in a silver utensils cup. Anyone can touch them and do whatever they want to the clean utensils. Its also a huge allergy red flag.

If I could give this place 100 ⭐️’s I would ! Best breakfast of my life ! Such a cool atmosphere , very welcoming, bathrooms had colorful murals painted on the wall and mostly the food was OUT OF THIS WORLD! If I lived closer this would be a weekly spot. We will definitely be back again !

My wife and I tried The Ugly Mug Diner during our trip to Salem. It DID NOT disappoint. I had the scotch egg breakfast and a mocha latte both of which were great. My wife, who is vegan and gluten-free, had corn cakes with candied pecans which she said was awesome. We will return the next time we are visiting. The server was great. The whole dining room is decorated in breakfast decor. I love this place.

Bella Verona is a charming Italian restaurant located in the heart of Salem, offering a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. The chef-owner, Giorgio Manzana, brings over 35 years of experience and a background from Lake Garda Italy to create simple and genuine home-style dishes reminiscent of his region in Verona and other parts of Italy.
Abby was a phenomenal server, recommending the perfect dishes! I’m pretty sure that there was nothing really from which to steer us away. Hubby had scallop pine di maiele al Pepe. (Pork loin with pepper). He was licking the plate clean! My spaghetti bolognese was phenomenal! The sauce was so sweet and delicious!! The Ceasar salad to start had garlic bread instead of croutons and was the best Ceasar dressing ever! We loved how the tables were spaced so we felt alone in the restaurant corner. The music was so perfectly quaint Italian! We were full and thought we couldn’t fit dessert. But, we couldn’t resist the cannoli. They were beyond fabulous!!
Monique R — Google review
Me and my girlfriend went here for a date night a couple weeks ago, we haven't found a lot of great restaurants in Salem, but this is definitely one we'll be back to. As your seated to a dimly lit table (ambiance) you're greeted with a basket of bread with this anchovy and olive oil dipping sauce. I'm not an anchovies guy but I enjoyed it, the saltiness was a nice way to awaken the taste buds. We started the meal with the Carciofini In Carrozza and it was a nice light antipasti, the flavor was very well-balanced with the creaminess from the cheese, the saltiness from the meat and the texture and sweetness of the marinated artichoke hearts. Then for the meal we had the Scaloppine Di Maiale Al Pepe over the house made pappardelle and the Tagliatelle Alla Puttanesca with chicken. The scaloppine do maiale al pepe was very nice the pepper was just enough to cut through the cream sauce and give a nice delicate kick to the meal, the noodles were a perfect al dente, and the pork was nice and tender, though I felt as though it could have been cooked differently, it may have been overcooked because it could have been juicier, maybe grilling it like they do the chicken would have brought more life to the dish. My recommendation goes to the putanesca, the chicken was grilled perfectly, there was plenty of it, it was complimented so well by the saltiness of the olives, anchovies and capers, and the delicate sweetness of the sauce, the onions and anchovies were present but not over powering, and the tagliatelle was toothsome and an excellent vehicle for the contents of the putanesca, flavor was trapped in every bite. We capped off the meal with the tiramisu, absolutely tremendous. I couldn't stop myself from eating it. It was so creamy and the texture was so relaxed, and the coffee got us pretty wired for the ride home, there was a second of silence. The recommendation of the tiramisu was from our server who I must mention was so helpful throughout the whole experience, our water glasses never went empty, she helped us navigate the menu and told us what combinations were possible, great guidance for our first experience. Also the atmosphere of the place is exactly what you look for in an Italian restaurant, they had the old school Italian themed pictures, the checkerboard tablecloth, the decor you would expect, it really added to the experience. We spent about 120 with the tip for the meal, and if we didn't do so much customization it would have been cheaper, but for the whole experience I would say it was well worth it. We can't wait to revisit our favorite restaurant in Salem.
Austen G — Google review
Delicious, authentic, great atmosphere, professional and attentive staff! Very small establishment, but well worth the visi! I had a perfect birthday dinner thanks to this restaurant. The food was fresh and amazing. We got the pasta puttaneaca, pasta primavera with red sauce, tiramisu and limoncello spritzes. The bread with olive tapenade appetizer was also delish. Give it a try!
Emily F — Google review
The service was great. My linguine with scallops and ahrimp tasted good. However, the food portions were small for the price. Pasta is a cheap food but my meal was quite small for $34.95. If you want a salad, that's another $18.95. No soup is present on the menu. Tiny tables stacked very close together to the point you hear way too much of the conversations of nearby patrons. I was content with my service, but I will go somewhere else for better food portions.
Celeste A — Google review
We had a delightful dinner for a large group (14) after our daughter’s wedding at The Gables. Food was great with good sized servings. Service was friendly and perfect. So accommodating, even in their busy October season. Would highly recommend. Cannot say enough good things about Bella Verona!

This was probably the absolute BEST meal we had our entire 5 day trip in Salem. Everything was absolutely perfect. The service was amazing, the atmosphere was great and the food & drinks & dessert were phenomenal! My only complaint is that I didn't have more room in my stomach to eat more!
Deni S — Google review
Well...we ate here after getting married. We are from out of state and relied on google to pick this establishment. We had a reservation and arrived way earlier than scheduled and we got seated without having to wait. So, that's a plus. What was really disappointing was that we both wanted the cannoli and it was not available because we were told it was made incorrectly for the day and was too runny. Also Inwas unable to get an espresso because the machine is broken. The food we ordered was fresh and was good- with the exception of the caramel pudding, that was gross. The service was mediocre. They took much longer than I was comfortable with to bring my credit card back to the table. The atmosphere is cramped inside and very dated. It could definitely use a revamp. We will not return when we make additional trips to Salem!

Howling Wolf Taqueria is a funky Mexican restaurant located in Salems North End, just a short distance from downtown on Central Street. The casual eatery offers delicious tacos, burritos, and salads made with locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. With high-top tables and bar seating available, the restaurant provides full service at every table. Indulge in their massive burritos like the signature Howling Wolf or enjoy scratch-made tortillas used for delectable chimichangas.
We went for the delicious burritos. I got a ranchero beef with hot howling salsa with a side of curly fries. The girls built their own vegan burritos. All were delicious. The service was excellent and the restaurant clean. We'll definitely be back.

Mexican food place that’s friendly with a good set of menu items. Fajitas were very good. Veggie bowl was tasty. My tacos really didn’t have much taste but were fine. Limeade was ordered by many and was too sweet and lacking lime flavor. Lime wedges appeared quickly on request. Margaritas were tasty. Allergens are an issue here with much cross-contamination. BUT, they know about it. Expect limited choices if this applies to you. I did have to ask about each item regarding gluten, and they did not volunteer glutenfree options. This was likely because they were busy and not used to or trained on working with diners with restrictions. I would go back but only at a time that wasn’t too busy so I could ask about items. They have salsas that look interesting, too. A gluten-free fryer for chips and marking menu items as GF would go a long way here. I’m sure those with dairy, egg, and other allergies would feel similarly.

This place is a MUST when in Salem! The food was amazing, they have a cool cozy vibe, indoor/outdoor seating. They seemed a bit short staffed, but we understood. They were busy and our server was good about checking on us frequently. Portions are rather large, my husband and I split the half order of nachos and it was more than enough for us both! And it tastes as good as it looks!!

We stopped in and were able to walk right in at 6pm on a Wednesday. The curly fries are delicious and crisp and the queso that comes with it is very tasty. The cheese quesadilla is also good. The tres amigos was good but my rice was hard and not very tasty. Everything else was good though. Service was fine!

Overview: If you're out of town and want some good Mexican, this is the place! Great service, great food, and a good time. The only improvement that could be made is the arrangement/spacing of the seats, it's awfully tight in some areas. The howling wolf has become a tradition for us to go here when visiting Salem! Food: - Both times I've been here I got a wrap, the howlarito and the fish wrap. My friends got other wraps, the clam chowder soup. - Wraps are stacked, definitely a full serving, and even leftovers for some. They have their own wolf house sauce they add - it's a tad spicy but it fits perfectly. Drinks: - margs and coronarita are a good deal, the liquor to price ratio seems really nice, and it's a good marg! -strawberry marg is lit! Service/other: -waiter added us on Pokemon Go after seeing us play, he was awesome 👍. - service was attentive to dishes that were done, water refills, drink refills, making sure our meal was right and everything was good.

So glad we stopped in while exploring Salem, because we had a wonderful time here! We sat at the bar for some drinks and lunch and the bartender was the sweetest, and most efficient person I’ve ever met! She was always looking out for us and entertaining everyone else at the bar. I’m sorry I didn’t catch her name, but we came on June 19th around lunch time. She was STELLAR!

Stopped here on our last day in Salem the weekend after Halloween. As with most of Salem, no reservations, so we hopped in the queue to be seated. Was very cold out and the wait is fully outside so be prepared for that here and at most other food stops. Our wait wasn't super long which was nice. The inside is a little crowded and is typical pub vibes. We ordered the house made curry and fries, the pork tenderloin sandwich, and the burger. Everything was good but nothing extraordinary, just pretty classic pub food.

Olde Main Street Pub is an inviting Irish-style pub & restaurant tucked along historic Essex Street in downtown Salem. It's open Thursday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 1:00 AM. On our first night in Salem, my friends and I chose this place for dinner, and we were immediately glad we did. Every dish tasted homemade and full of flavor, and the service, especially from our server Elisha, was warm, attentive, and personable. We started with the charred broccoli mac & cheese, which arrived piping hot and baked to perfection. Every bite was rich, creamy, and delicious. Honestly, it's up there with the best mac & cheeses I've ever had. For entrées, we shared the shepherds pie and the steak tips. The shepherds pie, made with a hearty mix of lamb, beef, peas, carrots, house mashed, and cheddar cheese, was fresh and perfectly balanced. The steak tips were cooked to our liking, tender, and seasoned beautifully. Both dishes were comforting and satisfying. Olde Main Street Pub delivered exactly what we were hoping for: great food, genuine service, and a cozy atmosphere. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in Salem.

The drink specials were very tasty. Our party of 6 each tried different things and everyone was pleased. I got the autumn sprites $14. Beware they automatically add 20% tip onto bill for 2 or more people. Our hostess was very accommodating.

This was non-witchy themed and like an Old Town Pub. Tight seating inside but nice patio outside. Wait to be seated. Food was great but drink selection as yet to be desired. They were way too strong!

Heather was an awesome bartender!! Took great care of us. So friendly and did the best Guinness pour. Thank you, Olde Main Street!

We had the fish and chips and Mac and Cheese and our server recommended loaded with bacon and chicken. It was absolutely delicious and not heavy at all for a mac and cheese. Have an option for bread to scoop the remaining sauce left over, I used my fork! The panna cotta also recommended was light and perfect ending to a wonder night in your establishment. Every staff member was polite and courteous If you are in Salem, DINE HERE, you will not be disappointed!

My pizza was great and the nibbles I got from my other party members were pretty good too! Some barcades have the games and basic cafeteria food to keep you gaming; this place is the whole package. If your a nerd looking for a good time in-between pirate and witch museums, I highly recommend!

One of the best dinner place in Salem. After all day walking around parks, memorials, and museums, it was great to sit down and enjoyed some good-quality (and yummy) bar food. The tetris tots is so much fun and tasty, don’t miss it when you visit. The back of the restaurant is a spacious arcade and bar, great vibes from the staff. There was a drag show at the night we visited. Very diverse and friendly environment to have some fun!

Came here to escape the cold winds and found ourselves a great time! The arcade games were a blast and I love all the pinball machines! The food was so good and the Downeast Cider- Caramel Apple was so delicious!! Best cider I’ve had since I’ve been up here!! I forgot our waiter’s name but he had black hair and all black contacts in. He was amazing and a cool dude! I definitely recommend coming here!

Great selection of classic arcade machines and pinball tables. Great atmosphere and really good crowd. Drinks were reasonably priced and the servers were helpful and friendly. Great that a 25¢ token costs 25¢ too! We spent 2 hours here just playing pinball and enjoying the drinks and retro surroundings.

My husband and I brought our 3 year-old-son here for dinner and games one night while on vacation and it was an absolute blast! We made the best memories here! Loved the all the retro games. Staff didnt seem very interested in our table. Drinks weren't that great. My friend got a drink and it was just too strong, when she asked if she could get a side of cider to help the taste they said no they couldn't do that.

John. Melissa. Joey. They’re going to take care of you. Do me a favor. Check out the Bit Bar Salem. It’s where nostalgia meets beer craft in the most delicious way possible. Tucked on Derby Street in the heart of Salem’s historic district, Bit Bar delivers an experience that transcends the typical bar night. Step inside, and you’re immediately transported to gaming’s golden age. It’s a classic arcade filled with pinball machines that take over the space with their warm glow, from vintage favorites that defined the ’80s to rotating newcomers that keep the floor fresh. But this isn’t just another barcade. The food program here punches well above its weight class. Their comfort menu features standouts that earn genuine raves—the Loaded Tetris Tots with house beer cheese, those unexpectedly perfect chicken tenders, pretzels that pair beautifully with local craft brews. The kitchen understands that bar food can be both playful and seriously good. The beverage program shines with craft cocktails and an impressive selection of Massachusetts breweries, served by staff who genuinely care about your experience. The patio even transforms into a seasonal beer garden that captures Salem’s charm without the tourist chaos. Get the Princess Peach. You won’t regret it. What sets Bit Bar apart is its soul—this is a place that hosts karaoke nights, trivia competitions, and killer dance parties. It’s a true community gathering space that welcomes everyone. Whether you’re celebrating a milestone birthday or just need to remember what pure fun feels like, Bit Bar Salem delivers. It’s where Salem locals actually hang out, and that says everything. Visit. Tell them I sent you.

Whenever my friends come to visit Salem, I always make sure we get some drinks and play games at Bit Bar!!! Shoutout to bartenders Melissa & Michael, who seriously bring the energy and fun to the room. They have a fun and creative cocktail menu that features relevant/seasonal drinks. I got the Basic Witch, which is essentially an AMAZING boozy pumpkin iced coffee. And another drink i cannot member the name of, but it had pea flower tea and a flower on top! I love fun garnish!!! Both were delicious and I am going to be back for trivia!!!!

Goodnight Fatty is a popular cookie shop in Salem that has gained a cult-like following. Originally a late-night cookie speakeasy, it has now moved to a storefront near the Salem Witch Museum and offers breakfast chubbies in the morning and small-batch treats throughout the day. The shop is known for its innovative flavors and soft, chewy texture of cookies, including vegan options, as well as cookies served with soft-serve ice cream.

I was definitely very excited for this place as we missed it last time we were in town. It was a little bit of a let down for me. Others in my party thought they were good but so sweet that half a cookie was enough. One bite was good enough for me. I was not sure what to order, and I don’t feel the employees helped as much as they should have. Very unenthusiastic to say the least. We were there on a Friday, wasn’t too busy, but my excitement quickly died to just an ok place to visit in Salem.
Deb C — Google review
Delicious and unique cookies with a very cool atmosphere. They only offer 3 kinds of cookies at a time but chances are you will want at least one. They are making them right in front of you which is neat. There was a long line but it moved quickly.

Stop here. Just do it!! Sooooo good and fun. The employees are wonderful and the atmosphere is great! And let’s talk the cookies-the BEST! This is definitely a spot to stop in Salem. We sat outside and enjoyed the flight of cookies. Highly recommend!

Great staff; super fun atmosphere. The cookie is just a fat cookie with a cute little design. Wouldn’t say there’s anything super special about it although it is good. Cool that they offer milk as a drink option. Very nostalgic of childhood milk and cookies and the Count Chocula cookie is “vintage” so to speak.
Ashley F — Google review
Cool concept, who doesn't like warm cookies with milk. They have limited options ( 3 cookie options when we visited). The flavors were unique ( Milky Way, Count Chocula, PB). They didn't have simple plain chocolate chip or sugar cookies. The cookies were average. You can purchase cookie flights! They have a cute courtyard with outside seating (tables and chairs). No vegan options available. They also serve breakfast sandwiches, that smelled great!

Simple, delicious cookies! We loved the three flavors of the week and wish we could’ve tried more. Soft, rich, and perfectly baked — definitely a must-stop when you’re in Salem.

As one who grew up loving a warm and soft cookie, this place is well worth it. Their flavors are updated every Friday. We had the Oreo, Dubi chocolate, the Twix. I bought the double - 2 of each & have no regrets. Go and enjoy each cookie!

Additionally, they cater to dietary preferences with gluten-free and vegan burger options.
We got seated right away on the patio. Our food came out quickly. We got 2 pizzas buffalo and BBQ and both were delish! The service was super friendly but stretched a little thin. Good prices for the portions and in the heart of Salem with views of Essex St. Highly recommend!

I enjoyed the food, but is a little pricey for what you get. Burgers come with chips, fries are $3 extra. Most burgers are $15-20. Sandwiches and appetizers are in that price range also, entrees were $25 to $40. Had the garlic burger, which the meat patty was amazing. My wife had the bacon brie burger, which was good she said, but she felt like it was lacking a little on brie and the jam. Atmosphere inside was great. I love the historical photos, stained glass lamps, and old model cars. Was a very cool place to eat, just wasn't overly impressed with the burgers.

An encapsulation of true tavern experience and perfect service. Matthew was an absolute joy of a server from their calm tone to their accurate delivery. We felt like we were being taken care of by a common friend which was a treat in a new city. The portion sizes were stellar and the food quality was on par! I enjoy the aesthetic and atmosphere of the restaurant a lot. We were recommended the Mac and Cheese and it was better than what I could make which is a real compliment. A diverse menu that delivered quality worth the price point and a must-visit for any adventurer.

Fantastic meal at Village Tavern in Salem. The Banging Shrimp was absolutely “banging” and the tomato oil served with the table bread was delicious. Hubby got the Mac and Cheese which he enjoyed. I left absolutely stuffed. Also, they had Dr Pepper which was a HUGE “win” for me as it’s not common in restaurants in NE. Mary D. was our server and she was DELIGHTFUL! Absolutely delightful.

Pretty standard American bar/tavern restaurant. Just off the main stretch across from the Peabody Essex Museum. Lots of out door seating, very spacious. Only went inside for the bathroom which was clean as was the main bar and dining hall. Staff was friendly. Food was decent. Nothing special but not a let down and pretty close to on point cost vs quality and serving size.

My husband and I stopped by after our evening walk. We opted for outside seating. Timothy greeted us and took our orders right away. We started with a French onion soup which l was absolutely delicious. For our main course I selected the house special, native clams and my husband chose the Mac and cheese with Sricha short ribs. I highly recommend stopping by.
Nydia C — Google review
They serve food late which is a great plus. It has a fancy bar atmosphere which is nice. The apps we had were ok. I should have gone with a burger or something simple. I had the meatloaf and I am regretting it. It had more sauce than meat. And I left most of the food on my plate. The meal was very pricey.

Flying Saucer Pizza Company offers a unique dining experience with its funky space-themed decor and a menu filled with nerdy references. The restaurant serves pizzas topped with local ingredients and offers the option to build your own pizza using various ingredients, including vegan alternatives. Additionally, the establishment caters to dietary restrictions by providing nut-free options and gluten-free pizza crust.
Take me to your Pizza Salem....When dealing with other worldly things...Flying Saucer Pizza is the place where I ended up landing. This Pizza joint is right behind the Elizabeth Montgomery statute astride a broom and framed by a moon crescent....anyways less moonwalking and more food talking. Myself and earthling approached the hostess. We were led indoors (There is an outdoor patio with black metal tables/chairs; which for you wishing to explore the sun...direct exposure)...So we were brought to our table where our server quickly got our drink order. I had a blue raspberry soda (made in Jamaica Plains, MA)...refreshing at A-, ...Earthling had a Charlie Temple....it was red. He rank it at a A-. We both had refills. Pro tip, you can order half toppings. We were beyond thrilled because we got to try 4 pizzas for the price of two pizzas ($38). We ordered half a Pickle Rick, half Nick Fury, half Aubrey II, and half Klinger. First though we had an appetizer. We had Hadouken! ... The only fireball or surge of fist was to my mouth. We picked two sauces. We elected for Red Sauce (Not gravy...perfect perry) which would make a nonna so happy!. But the really winning sauce was their scratch duck sauce. I could be fooled but it was outstanding with an absolutely 💯 👌 👏 🙌 ✨️ meatball. The order came with 5. Oh they offer vegan options! The meatballs were baked and fried....the meat mix was A+. The pizza came out timely. Sooooo good. The crust was not overly thick, a nice char, no real flop, these are great pies. Stop digging for hidden layers and be impressed! I'm a pickle!". The Pickle Rick was my favorite. Olive Oil, lite cheese, bacon, pickles, and ranch made this pizza made for a great combo. This followed by the Nick Fury. Nick Fury entered my food'verse based on mac n cheese with Sriracha being two of the ingredients.....ooooofff....The Klinger was a deconstructed crab rangoon with duck sauce on a pizza. Solid A and so unique. The last pizza in my ranking was the Aubrey...and true to form as a nod to Little Shop of Horrors by being covered in argula. It was too busy...B+ All in all, the pizzas were fantastic. I am definitely coming back to try some other pies....oh annnnnnd they have dessert. The atmosphere was light. Comfortable seating. Nice looking bar. The Disney movie, Oliver was playing. Lots of murals to look at. I was able to have a conversation. Wait staff was cool. We crashed out at 64 plus 12 for tip. The tip was calculated on receipt for those who struggle with percentages. We will definitely explore this place again. End of transmission. A PLUS

If you're looking for gluten-free options, The Flying Saucer is a must-visit. It has a calm atmosphere with the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. The food took a bit longer to arrive, but it was well worth the wait. The Gluten Free McFly was just as described and had great flavor. Although it was light on toppings, that helped keep the dish balanced. The crust, which can be tricky to achieve with a gluten-free base, had a good crispiness and was easy to fold! I would definitely recommend it to a friend.
Lili F — Google review
Went here twice during my Salem trip! The pizza here is great, pretty similar to NYC style. Crust was crispy and had good balance— not too thick or thin. The sauce had good flavor, but with a tinge of mild spice. Cool atmosphere and friendly staff, too. It’s def the best pizza I had in Salem (tried a couple places to compare). I tried the classic cheese and margarita. The cheese slice had a little too much cheese and not enough sauce, and the margarita had not quite enough cheese (spotted cheese slices). However both were still very delicious, next time I would just make a little modification request.
Toska M — Google review
For a New England restaurant swamped with tourists during the busy season, the hostess kept her cool and sat people efficiently. The gluten free crust was soft and pillowy and better than almost every crust I’ve ever had. The regular gluten full pizza was « mid » according to my dining companion and the red sauce left something to be desired. The standard cheese pizza was quite greasy. Overall 5/5 for gluten free and 3/5 for the regular pizza quality.
Katherine F — Google review
On Vacation from Saint Petersburg, FL. I feel like this pizza place was made for me. A lot of Gluten Free options and excellent names for all the dishes. We split the GF version of Spaceballs: the appetizer, (garlic and parm), the Pickle Rick and the McFly. We also ate the Wolverine's Poutine. I wish I had a place like this in Florida.
Jason R — Google review
Great atmosphere in this little pizza shop. Fun space theme is carried through in the menu, and the signed autograph pictures of sci-fi celebrities who have visited. Mixed drink are a fun addition to the menu as well. They change a portion of the menu out seanoably, but standards stay, like the Nick Fury we had. Recommended!
Robert P — Google review
Erika was a delight to have as our server, she helped us order the pizza we wanted with our dairy intolerance and checked in to make sure everything was going well constantly. Drinks were amazing, food was spot on and service was spectacular. Can’t wait to go back!

You can even eat this crap full grease to the point it's dripping off. Pizza was not hot like it just came out....they told me I could pay cash so when I was forced into credit the change they were getting to keep 8 dollars that didn't happen the person waiting on me was eating there food right out in open not cleaning hands or anything who ever owns this you need to just cancel out the credit card transaction cause this is a joke. .....

In addition to traditional Indian fare, the restaurant also offers plenty of plant-based options, with a dedicated section on the menu labeled 'Vegetarian Specials.'
Really fantastic - everything was super fresh - not greasy at all. We shared Tandoori shrimp, meat samosas (lamb) and bread that contained ground chicken. Everything was excellent - portions were reasonable. Price very reasonable. Would come back in a second!

Very attentive wait staff. Made me feel like royalty. Quick service and reasonable prices in spite of location in heart of tourist area. Strongly recommend. I ordered most expensive item on menu - rack of lamb but most dinners less than $20 each. Mango lassi was so delicious we each had 2 servings.
Heidi A — Google review
We had an enjoyable meal here. We spoke to our server about the possibility of making our food vegan - they have a large vegetarian section on the menu - and the chef was happy to accommodate this. We had a starter of pakoras and shared a mixed vegetable curry with a side of rice and roti. The food tasted really nice, and the accompanying beer went down a treat too! The service let it down a bit. Despite there being three or four waiters standing around, they weren't attentive, forgot the starter's chutney, weren't easy to get the attention of, and then started removing dishes mid-meal, which felt weird. The bill changed prices a couple of times, too, which was odd. Overall, it was a decent experience but not our favourite.

I had the lamb vindaloo and garlic naan. The server suggested that it was hot and suggested I get it at medium instead of regular spice. I bristled at this and took it as an insult, and that was a mistake, my friends. This was easily one of the spiciest things I've ever had in my life. While I ate it all, my mouth was involuntarily salivating for an hour after and my nose just would stop running. I legit cried and apologized to the server for my hubris. Please keep in mind, it was absolutely delicious, and it was a generous portion size.

I picked up some food. It was definitely not the same that used to be. I woke up the next morning with the worst heartburn ever I don’t know what kind of sauce they use but only old sauce left over will do this to me and it was definitely old food heated up. It was so disgusting that I’ll never go back again. I’m just giving everyone else heads up before they go there there. There are better Indian food places than this place. I’m surprised it’s still in business.

The Butternut Bisque wasn’t quite what I expected, but the Farmhouse Cobb salad was fresh and delicious, with fresh vegetables. The turmeric shots were also a nice touch. Life Alive is that hip healthy crunchy café you usually expect to be turbo expensive and mediocre, but it's actually fairly priced and the food tastes great. And the vibes are nice. The interior of this location in particular is very cozy. My only wish is that they include more fat free options for their hot drinks! Coconut cream is very high in saturated fat.

I love, love, love Life Alive in Salem, MA! It’s my favorite eatery in Salem. The food is fresh, organic, and delicious. It is ‘clean’ healthy food. The staff is friendly and attentive. They seem to enjoy their jobs. The service is excellent. I love how colorful the decor is. They even have poetry on their walls in their bathrooms! The local YMCA is across the street, so my husband and I can stop in after exercising. What more could we ask for?

Having spent the whole holiday eating lobster and rich food, this was a breath of fresh air. I had 'the adventurer' which was one of the nicest salads I've ever had. Family had various avocado /green salads that they thoroughly enjoyed. Smoothie/coolers also very good. Felt much better having eaten this for lunch and was able to resume normal service of eating posh nosh and pudding that evening.

This place was like an oasis! Amazing vegetarian and healthy food options. I especially loved their smoothies (the “open your mind” was a fave), açaí bowls, and.. I LOVED the “romantic” toasty wrap (cheese, broccoli, avocado, garlic— such a divine combo). It’s a great place for every meal! The staff were so patient and friendly too.

Life Alive is a seat yourself restaurant. You wait in line to order your food. There are menus you can grab by the register or you can use the overhead menu to order. I didn't want the tofu in my Rainbow Bowl and asked that it be left out and switched for avocado. Unfortunately, the person at the register seemed a bit overwhelmed and neglected to add that detail and it was missed. I could have said something and they probably would have fixed, but I chose not to. They keep worked bottles of water and glasses available to serve yourself if you would like. At the register, if you are dining in, they give you a number on a stand to place on your table and they will serve you when your order is ready. The food is fresh & bursting with flavor - and delight to the taste buds!

I looooved this place. I had the Swami Bowl, and added whipped sweet potato. I also had a Rainbow Nori Wrap, with a Strawberry Bliss Smoothie. Everything is always fresh, and service is always helpful and friendly.
Nire L — Google review
Came in for dinner and perhaps the kitchen was having an off night. The udon noodles were very stuck together and flavorless, the other dish was a grain bowl and tasted like it was drenched in soyaki sauce. The brick of tofu on top was not flavored at all and the onions that were supposed to be charred were just sautéed translucent and broccoli was extremely mushy. Overall a very disappointing meal.

Jolie Tea Company, located in Salem, MA, is a charming and cozy tea shop offering a wide variety of unique teas from around the world. The sunny space provides an elegant setting for high tea or casual cafe time. In addition to serving light lunches and hosting private events, they also offer macaron and tea tastings. With a new location in Beverly as well, Jolie Tea Company follows the Parisian tea salon concept and is known for its extensive selection of loose teas.
I took my sister to Jolie for high tea to celebrate her birthday and it was absolutely perfect! We chose the $48 per person Catherine High Tea and loved every moment. The strawberry mocktail to start was a refreshing treat, and the tea menu was impressively extensive, offering so many unique options to explore. The food was delightful, but the raspberry macaron was a standout—I wish I had taken a few more to go! Afterward, we enjoyed selecting loose leaf tea at the counter, getting to smell and discuss different varieties before bringing some home with us! High tea is a cherished tradition in our family and while we often visit spots in Boston, Jolie in Salem was so wonderful—we'll definitely be returning!

Despite only visiting twice (Oct 2017 & 2019), two cups of the Antoinette tea was enough to make me a smitten, cross-country loyal customer for life! Every order I get is hand packaged with care and absolutely delicious. JTC has such unique flavors that nowhere else I've tried has even come close to. I'm excited to try my most recent purchase from them, their Halloween sampler (and my beloved Antoinette, of course), and intend to order many, MANY more teas in the future 🫖

The whole experience was a let down. I had a reservation for the Halloween high tea with blending tea experience. I have an allergy to all nuts, dairy, and gluten; which I know isn’t easy to accommodate but had high hopes with all their dietary restrictions menus online. After reviewing my allergies with the waitress, a different staff informed me that they can’t accommodate all my allergies and that “it’s one or the other”. They offered a free chickpea salad to compensate, which never came. The foods that I could eat was fine but not worth how much the whole “experience” was. The tea experience was pure chaos and their excuse was the main person called out sick. The lady, Marina, was unable to assist us with how to blend our teas and demanded that we pick a base to start. I explained that it’s our first time doing something like this and would love some guidance. Her response was “same”. She couldn’t answer my questions on the difference of teas, and what she would recommend if my goal was a light/ fruity tea. After a painful 45min experience with incorrect labeling, she then tried to push the preblended teas and forced us to pay even though it was included. Overall if you have any allergies be aware. Can’t say I would recommend this place in general

Jolie Tea Company is such a gem in Salem! The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and inviting—perfect for catching up with friends, working quietly, or just enjoying a little self-care time. Their selection of teas is incredible, with unique blends you can’t find anywhere else, and the staff is always knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations. I also love their baked goods and treats, which pair perfectly with the tea. Whether you’re a tea enthusiast or just curious to try something new, Jolie Tea Company is a must-visit spot. Highly recommend!

We booked the Salon Room to celebrate a special event and had a wonderful time. The space was beautiful. Thank you Amy for making this a wonderful experience.

This tea shop was a highlight of our time in Salem! Excellent selection, and very friendly and knowledgeable staff. We loved chatting with tea aficionado Marina who was super informative and taught us about various kinds of tea. The shop was decorated very cute and was affordable. We took home several types of loose leaf tea as a Salem souvenir!

Notch Brewery & Tap Room in Salem is a popular craft beer destination located in a hip warehouse with a riverside garden featuring communal tables. The brewery focuses on session beers, offering options with ABVs below 5%. Visitors can enjoy the lovely biergarten when the weather permits, and even in colder months, the taproom hosts events like food pop-ups and Skee-Ball nights. Notch Brewing was the first U.S.
Brewery that is a touch off the main strip in Salem but worth the extra steps towards the water. The space is open and welcoming. The beers are good and the staff is friendly. Seating inside and outside. Limited menu (but good) and when we went there was a good truck you could order at. If you see the big robot mural you are on the right path👍😁

I’ve been going here for 7 years and go at least weekly. This is one of my favorite breweries in existence. They have a fantastic selection of beer and brew some of my favorite brews that are pretty unique also. They do tons of different special events so there’s always something going on. They are dog friendly which I also love. The bartenders are super nice and friendly and the owner is also a fantastic human. Video of when they recently had a Polka fest with live music

We walked into Notch after a long morning or walking around Salem. The Saturday crowds were too much! Notch is tucked away on the water and was busy but we didn’t wait long for food or beer and we found an indoor table no problem. It’s all counter service so we ordered and then were given a number. All of the food was delicious. The wurst platter was the standout. The bartender was able to give a solid recommendation when a beer I wanted was kicked. Highly recommend!
Bill M — Google review
We went to Salem for a weekend escapade and we were so happy to find this brewery! After all the walking we stopped for a beer. They let us taste a few before we made our selection! The outdoor area is spacious and has water view! Clean bathrooms and friendly staff! We did not try the food but beers were pretty good. 👍🏻

My daughter works in our hometown brewery, The Rusty Rail, Mifflinburg Pennsylvania if you are ever in the area, but anyways.... so it is always a treat to stop at other breweries and try their beer. We were in Salem for 2 days and we stopped the first day to eat and try them out. We ate, drank, and played a board game for well over an hour. The atmosphere is great and the time passed so quickly! The staff is really nice. We came back the second day to buy a 4 pack and t-shirts before we left for home.
Bonnie R — Google review
Love the vibe of Notch, and of course, the BEER! The owner and staff are great, attentive, and always there with a smile. Yoy got to try the pretzel and look for special events like the monthly meat raffle! I appreciate their policy of 21+ at night, kids are great, but sometimes not all the time! Speaking of kids, I especially appreciate the staff encouraging parents to be attentive to their kids during earlier hours so they aren't running around unregulated. Kids need to behave in public places like this!
Phil L — Google review
Notch is everything you could want out of a brewery: excellent beer, delicious small bites, and plenty of space. Their beer is mostly German. I believe I had the afternoon Pils which was tasty and easy drinking. The service is incredibly friendly. At one point one of the gentleman walked past and ask if I wanted another beer when he saw it was empty. I've never had that happen at a brewery before. The food was excellent. I initially got the pretzel and my girlfriend got the pretzel bites. If I could've done it over, I would've just gotten the bites. The dip that it comes with was cheezy and it had bits of butter and I would come all the way back to Salem just for some more of that. We'll absolutely be back.
Joe W — Google review
Came for a few beers and was not disappointed. Additionally, met the owner after an accidental spill. He was bussing the tables and he happily replaced the beers with no cost, tried to tip and he declined. Great vibes overall!

The menu features a variety of breakfast and lunch options, including avocado toast, biscuit egg sandwiches, pastries, and sandwiches. Additionally, guests can enjoy Tandem Coffee and indulge in boozy Sunday brunch at Ledger. The cozy ambiance of Brew Box is enhanced by its beautiful patterned wallpaper and friendly staff.
The breakfast and coffee was so good! The breakfast burrito was highly recommended and it did not disappoint! It was really good - the tomato jam was a perfect addition to it. The biscuit with raspberry jam was also really good - I enjoyed a simple breakfast item! The jam tasted fresh and natural - not like the store bought sugar loaded jams. My husband enjoyed the cold brew coffee. Was in walking distance to our hotel, which was a huge bonus!

Ambiance: No seating available inside or outside of this cafe. Service: super friendly! Food: Ordered breakfast sandwiches (made to order). The hot sauce was not spicy at all, but the sandwiches were delicious!

Stopped here for a coffee while the rest of my large group waited in the hour long line at Crave. The iced brown butter and sage pumpkin latte was AMAZING I was so pleasantly surprised. It easily falls into one of my top 3 favorite iced lattes. For being the weekend before Halloween, I waited for maybe 15 minutes max from the time I got to order to the time I got my coffee and was gone.

Overall good; close to the Hawthorne Hotel; Food was okay. I ordered the breakfast Boo-rito (such a cute name, lol) There was no line when we arrived early in the morning; it took a while to get our food. In conclusion, okay/good.

This is a really cute café in the heart of Salem and they offer a variety of drinks and pastries. Our drinks were good, though they were a little on the milky side and lacked a little flavor. However, the staff was super friendly, accommodating, and overall we had a very positive interaction. On another note, their logo as well as their merchandise is very cool looking.

We got the breakfast burrito & it did not disappoint. At first we were on edge about the honey mustard but it was literally homemade & tasted so good. We also got two iced lattes & was super pleased overall with everything!
Ahmed H — Google review
If you have one morning in Salem to grab breakfast, come here. The menu is small, but that isn't bad because what's on it is executed well. I don't have to ask if everything is house-made because you can tell it is. We got egg/cheddar biscuit sandwiches. The biscuit was fluffy, so was the egg. I don't know how they prepped/seasoned their egg, certainly unique and very tasty. We also got these really neat house-made pop tarts. We visited in the middle of October so they had seasonal decorations on them. Black coffee was great. The establishment is small and made for take away, but there's a perfect courtyard across the street and adjacent to Brew Box. There's large rocks for prime seating. It completed the experience. Service was also timely. Not too long of a wait.

Loved my time here with great cocktails and great live music (cover charge only $5). Took punk prog (gin + triple sec + lemon grenadine) and Saturn returns (coconut based cocktail) and loved them. My partner took creature from the black lagoon (w/ dry ice) and a daiquiri and loved both. The lagoon grew on him as he drank more of it. Would like to see some whiskey/bourbon based cocktails!

NOTE: They do not serve food, I rated "Food" as "Beverages" :) The staff are incredible! Peter, Pam, Cody and Jesse are all friendly faces who greet you and we enjoy seeing when visiting this establishment. The drinks are remarkable! Fresh ingredients created by professional mixologists! The beauty of their liquor is that most, if not all, is gluten-free. We've tried almost everything on the menu and it does NOT disappoint! You cannot go wrong with the amazing flavors.

If you're looking for something a little off the beaten path during your stay in Salem, I would highly suggest checking out the events or tours they have available. My husband and I enjoyed their founders tour where we sampled a handful of their spirits and then enjoyed a few cocktails afterwards. The tour was great! We learned a lot about the distilling process as well as the history around some of the spirits. Again would highly recommend for any one wanting to enjoy something a little more authentic or local to Salem. Also pictured is their some Pumpkin BS cocktail! Great for pumpkin latte lovers!

Came just before 1 pm on Oct 15 and waited only a couple minutes to be seated. Steak tips with the salad and garlic fries were 10/10. Staff were friendly, attentive, and helped with suggestions on not only what to order but things to do around town. Great experience!

The Burgers were delicious but the Garlic fries were mehhh. The Wings were delicious and the fish and chips was good but I wish there was more than two little fish fillets in this meal. Overall the place was good with a couple average bits but you should definitely check this place out and try one of the local beers with your meal!

Per a local's recommendation, we found our way to this gem. The line to be seated wrapped around the building--always a good sign. We asked our waitress for recs for drinks and were guided to Hocus Pocus and Bettlejuice Punch. Both were delicious! Especially the Hocus Pocus. For lunch we went with the reuben and truffle fries + fish and chips. Both were phenomenal. The truffle fries and reuben were out of this world and the house made pickles were incredible. Highly recommend stopping here if you're ever nearby. You won't regret it.

Loved sitting outside the weather was perfect. Some of the best clam chowder I have ever had. Caitlin are server was excellent. We went on Sept 27 around 12:30pm with our toddler. We expected a long wait however even with a larger lineup they were able to get us right in. Service was excellent and the food exceptional! Great place to eat/drink and see some great views of the water. Friendly staff! Only giving a 4 star because they were out of a majority of their drinks on their menu due to the season change & most of the arcade games inside were broken/did not turn on. We enjoyed playing darts though!

Gluten sensitive fried seafood!!! Yes!!! And for the reviews that say the food is flavorless. I think you mean not overly salted. Local clams that were brought in today. So much flavor. Recommend this place. Friendly too!
Hilary R — Google review
A decent little seafood restaurant on the outskirts of Salem. We stopped in for lunch while touring Salem. It was pretty quiet when we went which is what made it worth it. Our server was very quiet and not very personable but not unfriendly. She was fast with our drinks and order which was nice. She did forget some of our condiments though. The food was fine. It was hot and the fish tasted fresh, nothing was seasoned though so it was a bit bland. Overall it was fine and I can recommend them for fish.

⭐ 5 out of 5 stars Brodie’s Seaport isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a home away from home. I first came here as a tourist over a decade ago, and now as a local, it’s still my go-to spot. The moment you walk in, you’re greeted with genuine warmth—from the staff, the owners, the music, and the whole laid-back coastal vibe that makes you feel like you belong. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a familiar face, Brodie’s welcomes you with open arms. The team here knows how to make every guest feel special, and the energy is always upbeat and inviting. The music sets the perfect tone, the drinks are strong, and the food hits the spot every time. It’s rare to find a place that maintains its charm and hospitality year after year, but Brodie’s does it effortlessly. If you’re in the area—whether passing through or planting roots—this is the kind of place that turns strangers into regulars and regulars into family.

Honestly top tier food at a reasonable price. The seasonal cocktails were great. The fish and chips were amazing. The shrimp was massive with the perfect amount of breading. Fish tacos were awesome too. Live music on weekends. If i lived in the area, this would probably be my go-to spot and i will definitely be back.

We had the baked haddock and fried shrimp, and both were the best I've ever had. The shrimp was lightly breaded and fried perfectly. The haddock had this tangy parm breading that was amazing. I had to slow down so I didn't scarf it all down too fast. The patio area was perfect to people watch as well.

Did I say that I think everyone here is amazing?! You definitely won't hear better live music anywhere in Salem. They have bands Fri, Sat & Sunday Funday. I have so much fun, dancing and meeting new people. Great food & lots of choices on the menu. The outdoor patio is a great option. I can't find one thing at this establishment to complain about. I'd give this restaurant 10 stars if I could! 🥰 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️🥰

This place has a great location. The drinks and the food are ok. I had chicken pecan salad. The portion was huge. My cocktail was ok I didn’t love it but I still finished if. It was a Skinny Spicy Margarita. To me it had a very strong cucumber taste and smell , it wasn’t balanced. There was no Margarita taste to it. Mozzarella sticks were good. We enjoyed lunch there after a long walk.

Came here because I was craving some fish and chips so that’s what I ordered. Our waitress was very friendly as the food was tasty! The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and so juicy and tender on the inside *chef’s kiss*! I’m normally not a fan of coleslaw, but I ate all of that too! Of course I can’t go without mentioning the fries and onion rings all done just the way I like them, crispy but not over done. I would definitely recommend!

Ice cream shop
Melt Ice Cream has been a beloved establishment in Salem since 2009, serving up homemade ice cream crafted from local ingredients. The shop collaborates with local businesses to create unique flavors and toppings, offering a menu of regular and rotating flavors like Minty Blueberry and Goat Cheese with Raspberry Jam. Located in the Bearskin Neck neighborhood overlooking Rockport's Historic Old Harbor, Melt provides a picturesque setting for indulging in their delectable treats.
I always make it a point to visit the local ice cream shops when I am on vacation. I really have to concur with other reviewers when they say that the salted caramel is literally the bomb. It is not only the flavor of the ice cream but the bits of brownie within the ice cream that set it apart from the other flavors I have tried. The atomic coffee was also a favorite from the couple of times I have visited. They have very interesting items to choose from and everything is homemade using local ingredients. They also sell a few souvenir items as well. For the price you pay for a cone with a couple of scoops, you really get your monies worth as it is loaded up. The shop is small, cute and clean and the staff is friendly. If you like good quality ice cream, then this is definitely your place to visit. I will definitely stop in again the next time I am in the area.

Cute little ice cream shop. They only had 2 dairy free flavors. Coffee and coconut. I’m not a fan of coconut and was hoping they didn’t use coconut milk either so I tried coffee. It was pretty good. Didn’t seem like coconut milk. Was really creamy. I believe there even was grounded up coffee in it? I added half to a coffee I got earlier to make it a coffee float. So good!

We had the banana Nutella and the salty Oreo peanut butter in a waffle bowl and both were fantastic! Staff were super friendly, too. Lots of outside seating.
Kristin L — Google review
We visited on a Friday in mid-June 2025 for a dessert snack around 1ish. There is public parking lot and street parking. We walked here from a lot. There were very few on street ones. There was also a outside seating area in front of the restaurant that may have been parking at one point. It was a couple that left when we entered. But the whole time no one went in until we left maybe like 15 mins later. Staff was super nice and helpful giving us suggestions. It was very warm inside the shop and they had a make shift AC unit. Wonder if their main AC was broken. There was limited seating inside but informal available outside. It was very warm outside and our shakes were melting really fast. We ordered all frappe/milkshakes: - Salted peanut butter Oreo (classic flavors can’t go wrong here) - Maple Bourbon mixed with atomic coffee 50/50 (my favorite) happy they do 50/50 - Black raspberry chip frozen yogurt (youngest favorite always) - Rose with candied orange (wife liked it, it was eh to me) It seemed a bit on the pricey side but I think this is the going rate these days. I've had much worse $10 milkshakes. The milkshakes were good and they had a good variety of options. Overall I'd come back and order here again if we were in town. There are other food and dessert options around town though so I wouldn't be against trying something else either.

Delicious homemade ice cream on a hot day. Minimal inside seating but great outside sitting. Waffle cones are wonderful, not expensive at all, friendly staff, several flavors. Only gripe… strong spoons lol, not a major issue Highly recommended

This was one of our first stops in Salem when we visited in early September and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Really impressed with the bright flavors of the GF sorbets, and the full dairy ice cream was incredible. I opted for a scoop of the Salty PB Oreo in a fresh waffle cone- folks, this is the ultimate flavor combo. The ice cream was so good, I didn’t stop eating it when we got pulled over by Salem Police not five minutes after we left with the police officer attempting to have a serious conversation. This ice cream is that delicious. For context, we were stopped because it was raining and the officer stated we were driving a bit too fast for the road we were on. No ticket was issued and the officer very politely bid us a good night while I noisily slurped the remnants of my ice cream.

A Japanese restaurant with a great menu in downtown Salem. We came for a quick lunch during the October festivities. The menu is small but very good. Everything we ordered was excellent and the food came out at a decent pace. They were not super busy and I know why, the service was terrible. They took for her to get our drinks, forgot one, and they never came back. It was a good runner who brought the food and we tried to tell him about our missed drink. They brought after we were done and had paid and then charged us for it separately without asking or a conversation. Really just garbage service. The food is really good though. So tread carefully.

This place hit the spot. It got to the point in the trip where all I needed was Asian food. We decided to stop by Koto Salem Mass before hopping on the train, and I’m so happy that we did because I felt revived. I kept it simple and ordered a beef lo mein, and the portion was huge for only $14!!! …and I ate it all. I don’t know if I would go out of my way to eat at this restaurant again, but if you’re in the area and need a quick bite, this is a good place! PS: bathrooms were clean! I was impressed.

Stopped here on a trip to Salem last week. There were 4 of us in the group. We had no trouble being seated quickly. We asked if we could sit outside and it was no problem accommodating us. Server was friendly and attentive. I ordered vegan sushi and crab rangoons and a mai tai cocktail. I enjoyed my meal. The crab rangoons were favorite. My friends ordered sushi, gyoza, and ramen.

Such delicious food and plenty of meat, veggie, AND vegan options. The service was wonderful, Ping was so fun and friendly. We sat outside and enjoyed the wonder weather. The service was fast and attentive. We went back Sunday night and they had karaoke which was very lively and fun.

Blue Fez is a charming Moroccan restaurant in Salem that offers traditional dishes like falafel and tagine. The eatery has a wood-and-whitewashed interior, creating an understated atmosphere. Guests have praised the attentive and friendly staff, with servers like Danielle and Sydney receiving special mentions for their knowledge and warmth. Some diners have also enjoyed the made-to-order bread with dipping oil and well-crafted cocktails.
Amazing flavors, great service and I cannot wait to go again. We shared 3 appetizers and one entree. The falafel on a bed of hummus with harissa was the best I’ve ever had. The mussels (out of the shell) were in a spicy tomato sauce that was perfect and plentiful. I do think the saffron shrimp could have been more flavorful. The final item was the chicken couscous. While the chicken was a tad overcooked, the flavors and spices were outstanding. I look forward to returning often.

Love Blue Fez! My family organized a birthday party for me here with about 20 people. Fantastic Moroccan food: grape leaves, grilled chicken with delicious vegetarian couscous, fresh Mediterranean salad, bread and hummus... all delicious. Just as important, the staff were friendly and flexible--- we had some late arrivals, and they just accommodated everyone. The restaurant itself is lovely inside. A special thanks to our delightful server, Sydney, and to Tori who was so helpful in organizing it.

Food was not good. Similar to other one star reviews. A friend who really liked this place insisted on bringing me here and it was empty on a Saturday night when every other place in town was super busy. Waitress came outside to coax us in while I was having a private conversation with my friend trying not to even go in. 2 apps and one main course was $100. The best bites of food was mid. Some of it was inedible. Adriatic is an example of a Mediterranean restaurant in Salem that does it right at a similar price but it’s gourmet and with excellent wait staff. Just read the other poor reviews and the owners horrible responses and you will know everything you need to know about this place. Even the pita bread was both burned and undercooked at the same time. This restaurant is a misfire on all cylinders. Normally I would give a place a second try before forming an opinion but as a New Yorker from Hell’s Kitchen with some of the toughest restaurant competition in the United States who has eaten at many fine Moroccan restaurants (the best ones are in Paris I would say) this is just bad. Sometimes a second visit is clearly not warranted. If you go, you can’t say you haven’t been warned.
Gil S — Google review
I really wanted to like this place as Moroccan food is literally one of my favorite cuisines in the world and I was really excited to eat here. The decor was lovely and service was great. We started off with the lentil soup and eggplant appetizer which were pretty decent. We order the Moroccan couscous as our main entree and this is where things went haywire. We happen to make tagine at home and are very familiar. The chef lied and said he made the tagine in the tagine pot they brought it in which is impossible. Moroccan tagine makes the chicken soft, slow cooked, and fall off the bone. The chicken they brought us was quickly sauce pan cooked, un-marinated lazy and wrong. The tagine pot they brought it in was even cold. The chicken was tough and disappointing…what’s worse is when we asked the waitress to ask the chef how it made it he lied and said he made it in the tagine pot. I found it very insulting that he thought we wouldn’t know better…you should never scam your customers to save a bit of time in the kitchen. Taking shortcuts like this will ruin a restaurant’s reputation!

Truly authentic and very, very flavorful dishes in a comfortable atmosphere with outstanding service. We’ve been there twice and they continue to amaze us. Perfectly prepared meats, the lamb is succulent and the spices are amazing. This is a place where we’l keep going and I’m sure we’ll be welcomed like family in the Moroccan tradition and served authentic, hearty, filling and amazing food. Go there!!

Wow! Blue Fez delivered an unforgettable dining experience. We started with what may be the best hummus we’ve ever had—so flavorful. The Mediterranean salad was perfectly dressed, light and bursting with flavor. The highlight was the falafel couscous, served with an exquisite saffron broth that added just the right amount of richness. We were too full to enjoy dessert on-site, but the mango mousse cake we took home was simply divine. From start to finish, this was a five-star meal, and we can’t wait to return! Highly recommend!

Really good restaurant, hidden in heart of Salem. Amazing food, staff, and atmosphere. Stopped by for lunch and we had chicken rice bowl and lamp tagine (traditional Moroccan dish) lamp was falling off the bone. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking to try a new restaurant in Salem.

Undercooked Chicken and Poor Service Response: I ordered the chicken curry at Blue Fez and initially enjoyed the flavor, but as I started eating, I discovered that the second piece of chicken I cut into was completely raw. After that, I checked the rest of the dish and realized much of the chicken was undercooked. I immediately informed the waitress, but the only response I received was an apology and an offer of half off the $34 dish. For such an expensive entrée, serving raw chicken is unacceptable, and the lack of genuine concern or effort to make things right made the experience even more disappointing. I hope this feedback helps ensure better food safety and customer care in the future.

Asian restaurant
Kokeshi is a popular Asian street food spot located in Witch City. The restaurant, owned by Larry Leibowitz and Tim Haigh, offers a diverse menu with highlights such as Colonel Sanders Ramen and Octopus Hot Dogs. Currently in residency at sister restaurant Bambolina, Kokeshi provides an array of cocktails, sake, and local craft beer to complement its rotating food menu. Diners can also enjoy Bambolina's artisan pizza and Italian shared plates under the same roof.
TLDR; Not your average ramen shop. Great flavors, unique dishes in the heart of Salem. Kokeshi, you had me at Colonel Sanders ramen with Vermont butter. And you did not disappoint. Yes, this ramen house has traditional recipes you know and love, but it also has delicious new takes on the classics. We loved the fried dumplings, steam buns, and - of course - noodles. The atmosphere is very laid back, and the staff is very friendly. A great place to curb your hunger with lunch or dinner while on the witchy trail.
Christopher M — Google review
Way too much seaweed in the ramen, i got the Colonel Sanders Ramen a nd the chicken was phenomenal but the whole experience was ruined by there being basically a much bitter wakame in the broth as noodles, and the appetizers feel like a prank when it's just like... a plate of olives or a bowl of feta cheese The service was incredible however, our server was excellent and very helpful
Hobie — Google review
Heard great things about this place…if I ever return I’ll be getting food from the pizza menu instead. The ramen was crazy salty, I barely ate half the bowl. The other reviews are definitely correct about the insane amount of seaweed thrown in there too.

Had the Vietnamese noodles & green tea, both were so delicious! I even googled the tea to buy when I get home. Our server was also super friendly! Thanks for the great food & service! :)

WORST ramen I’ve ever had. Couldn’t eat the noodles and couldn’t finish the broth. It was lacking flavor and over the top sodium. It should be a crime to charge what they are charging for this. Better off with a $0.99 packet of ramen from the grocery store.

Love it while visiting Salem from Florida with the family we encountered this fusion of wood fire pizza and Korean Ramen oh lord we all had something different I had the pasta 🍝 good lord it was great we had a chicken wings and the dumplings To die for. We also ordered a Ramen noodle with pork belly galore. Amazing flavors. Also try the margarita. Pizza Awesome the Service Lakia although she was new was excellent The ambience and surroundings were great. I truly recommend this place by the way, the portions are very large. 😆

We walked in at 530, no wait. Ordered appetizers and sodas then dinner. Everything was delicious but the service was slow, I think our waiter was one of two for the entire restaurant. Table water was hydrating and the ramen was done right.

Awesome little fusion restaurant with half Asian (ramen and plates) and the other wood-fire-cooked pizza. All around good food, staff, and the location was nice too. It was fun to even hear the cool sing now and then as he was preparing food. I got the pepperoni and pepper pizza which I definitely recommend but a warning that it is a bit spicy.

Nestled conveniently along Washington Street, Odd Meter Coffee Co. is a delightful pit stop for coffee lovers exploring Salem. This charming little café, just a short stroll from the commuter rail station, offers an array of specialty coffees and seasonal latte creations that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
As an Australian obsessed with coffee I’m always on the lookout for awesome cafes wherever I travel. While in Salem I dropped in to Odd Meter and I knew as soon as I walked in I would be treated to an amazing coffee. The Summer menu does not disappoint and the “Dad on the Beach” was delicious! US cafes can often make their drinks too sweet but this had the perfect blend of flavours that really worked for me. If you’re in Salem highly recommend you check them out.

My girlfriends and I decided to stop by a quick coffee shop before our Salem walking tour. The girl working the register was very kind and patient with us as we were debating what to get. I was torn between a chai, matcha, and London Fog until the person working actually told me that they had a secret menu item that combined all the drinks! I decided to order that along with a simple croissant. The drink itself was interesting. I didn’t think it was bad, but I couldn’t exactly identify a single flavor. It was good enough to satisfy my caffeine intake for the day. Croissant was good. Nice & simple.

Odd Meter Coffee in Salem is such a gem! The vibe is warm, creative and welcoming — perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Their drinks were amazing the Cardamom Latte is a must-try! The space feels cozy yet modern, and the staff are always friendly. Easily one of the best coffee spots in Salem — definitely worth stopping by!

Came from Boston and this was the first shop I hit in Salem coming off the highway. Super cute spot. Greeted immediately at the door. Barista with the Dali tattoo was very warm and friendly. All staff had great vibes and dealt with a small rush super efficiently as well as a surprise visit from what they dubbed "The Scale Police." They seemingly passed with flying colors. There is street parking directly outside. The bathroom was clean. Free wifi. Got a cold brew black - zero complaints. Would go again

Love this place!! Everyone was so friendly! I had the Pumpkin Chai tea latte, making it vegan by doing their vegan pumpkin butternut syrup and oat milk, and it’s literally the best pumpkin drink I’ve ever had!! Also had the Iced Mother Earth Matcha with oat milk and it was delicious!

I had a black iced tea and it was refreshing on a hot day. The bathroom was "out of order" when I was there. Which is always a sketchy phrase to me. Is your toilet broken or are you just not allowing customers to use it? Regardless! I didn't go there for the bathroom, I went there for the tea, and it was good.

Barrio Tacos is a local eatery that specializes in their unique and customizable taco offerings, as well as an assortment of cocktails. Situated in a trendy and casual atmosphere, it is the perfect spot for enjoying a late-night meal. Although some customers have reported mixed experiences with their margaritas, the food itself has received high praise. Drawing comparisons to Chipotle, Barrio Tacos offers a variety of options to create your own bowl, including the rare addition of black beans.
Stopped here for a snack and drink while visiting Salem. The inside is beautiful. This place is a whole vibe. They even have some upper seating area that looks over the entire restaurant. We opted to sit at the bar since they were short staffed, but still had a fantastic experience. The food and drinks were great. Me and my friend both got a margartia flight and the margaritas were delicious. There were several options to choose from for your own flights. We shared a taco and some nachos. The taco was actually larger than we were expecting and it was very shareable for us and it tasted AMAZING. The food and drinks are incredible. I definitely would go back here when visiting Salem again.

Went for the first time while visiting Salem, the interior is really interesting seeming to be from an old mechanics shop. The service was quick and affective with the waitress answer and explaining the concept easily. The ordering was new to me with sheets to fill out and build your own options. The food was all fresh and clearly made by someone who enjoys cooking.

Tacky 20% gratuity added no matter what, please read. We stopped in last night and overall had a great time. The atmosphere was super cool , the building itself is huge and really well designed. I especially loved the garage-style door that opened up to let fresh air flow through the bar. It gave the whole place a nice open, lively vibe. The drinks were good, and our bartender provided great service. However, something about the bill really threw us off. Our total was about $50 for two people sitting at the bar, and we noticed they automatically added a 20% gratuity. When I asked about it, the bartender explained that they do this because big tables sometimes don’t tip. I completely understand that for large parties, I’ve worked in restaurants myself ,but adding automatic gratuity for two people at the bar felt tacky and unnecessary, especially in a tourist town where good service and fair tipping usually go hand in hand. We actually still tipped on top of that because our bartender was excellent, but it left a sour note at the end of an otherwise enjoyable visit. I’d think twice before coming back for that reason alone ,not because of the staff or the experience, but because of that awkward policy

Finz Salem is an upscale-casual seafood and steak restaurant located on the harbor, offering stunning ocean views from its outdoor deck. The restaurant is known for its delicious and sustainable seafood, sushi, raw bar dishes, and unique cocktails. It's a popular spot with a lively atmosphere, so reservations are not accepted on weekends in October to accommodate all guests.
Absolutely wonderful! I ordered off the Tuesday special menu(shrimp pomodoro) which was amazing and reasonably priced($30) for the size of the portion! Perfectly cooked! My wife had the fish and chips entree which she said redefined fish and chips for her it was that good! We also had an appetizer of clams on the half shell which were fresh and terrific and the wife had a martini! Great service! Beautiful view! Definitely worth checking out!

Hands down the best meal from our entire trip! The waitstaff were kind, the food delicious, and the pricing was spot on. We were a group of four, had appetizers, entrees, and drinks for around $230 and compared to what we’re paying in Texas this was a steal! Highly recommend if you’re visiting the area and looking to try some amazing seafood.

Brought my daughter there to get away from the crowds and it worked. Quiet and peaceful. Great service no wait. Food was spectacular wish we had more time but we were limited due to the bus trip we were on. We got in and sat right down at a beautiful table right on the ocean, watching the boats come in and out and planes flying over head. You could literally see a mass crowd of people in the distance but couldn’t hear a sound. Just peace and families enjoy a beautiful lunch. The food was picture perfect we all got sushi and our waiter was so sweet and dressed like a vampire (he fit the outfit so well). This will be our go to place when we return.

Our waiter was amazing! Food was delicious, we had everything from steak to tacos and everyone was happy.

Finz wasn't first on my list as the other two restaurants were already booked 4 weeks out, but overall it was very good. I ordered the "Salem Maki" which was very good. Also pictured is the salmon nigiri, the lobster crab roll, the filet mignon, and an assortment of other sushi rolls. Service was attentive for a busy Saturday night. I was a little bummed that we didn't get any surprise dessert for my mother-in-law nor my wife's birthdays which I had listed on the reservation. Either way, it's worth checking out especially if you're into seafood.

- my low rating is due to how horrible I was treated while trying to come here to eat. - my pasta was real good, the flavor, freshness, presentation, everything. - place was clean and organized. Everything was extremely nice. - prices are a bit high but the food was really good but you pay more just cause the name of the place in my opinion. - staff were horrible. First I was told that I can only eat here if I was staying at the hotel which is not true but I was staying there and told the lady I was. Secondly she told me it would be about an hour or more wait but then told the folks behind me 25-30mins. Super rude lady working the front and very condescending, she acted like she just didn't want to have me eat here. It's a shame that it's 2025 and humans still treat others this way for looking different. - service was not that great and pretty slow but to be honest I think it's just they didn't like me so they didn't care. - the food was good but I still don't recommend this location as the staff made everything horrible for me.

Loved this place so much we visited once or twice a day while in town. It stays open till 11 so after we were done at the bars we would go here and get a spiked coffee treat. After arriving on the ferry from Boston, we needed some caffeine. Walking into town this was one of the first places we came across. The coffee and bagels were good. They do have an outside patio and seating inside. The interior decor is interesting and plays on the witches and scary theme. It was fairly busy when we arrived. However we got our food quickly. This is a good spot to stop and get the flair of Salem.

Nice atmosphere!!! One seat has a nice background and you can take photos. A few seats to sit down and enjoy your coffee. I didn't order any food. However, the Spanish latte was amazing. It was one of the best I've tasted. They also serve boba tea. If you are in the Salem area please stop by and try it.

Maybe they were just having an off day or maybe my expectations were just higher, but I was a bit dissapointed in my visit to Jaho today. I was excited to find a local roastery here in Salem, and expected their coffee culture to be strong because of this, but the person ringing me out did not even know how to describe one of the drinks (Spanish latte) on their menu to me when I asked. Maybe they were new; the barista did explain it to me, but it just made me nervous about ordering because I wasn't sure the workers knew what they were doing. I think sometimes this comes from having too much on the menu. Jaho serves pastries, breakfast food, ice cream, coffee, boba, teas, refreshers, and alcoholic beverages. That's quite a lot for one shop that I thought was supposed to be focused on artisan coffee (that's what their website seems to advertise, at least). I ended up ordering the Oatmeal Cookie iced latte because it sounded interesting, but it was just mediocre. It tasted like a brown sugar latte with oat milk. It was good, don't get me wrong, but there was nothing special about it. I did end up buying two bags of beans, one single-origin and one blend, so I'll see how I like those. The atmosphere of the cafe was cute, but I guess I'm just confused about their concept and wish it were more refined. Update: I did just brew a French Press of their Black Derby signature Costa Rica/Columbia blend and It's delicious! Good to know their beans are still at the heart of this place at least.

I love a coffee shop with several flavored lattes available. This place was behind our hotel, which was a hug plus that we could walk there. Kids ordered a cinnamon roll and a bagel. They both enjoyed their food. The bagel was toasted but still soft for my son to eat. The iced lattes come in one size and were delicious! The oatmeal cookie and almond joy latte are really flavorful and good. The cups the drinks are served in are super cute! Plenty of seating inside and outside

I love Jaho, but I loathed watching the old man owner yelling at the baristas behind the counter because they were throwing out bad food and that they were apparently not doing their job correctly. He was making them cry. The baristas are the reason why I continue to go to Jaho. They know my name and they know my order. To have the owner, a physically large man in a position of power and authority yell so violently aggressive at these college aged girls working a minimum wage job in one of the most expensive areas in the country is disgusting. The baristas were visibly tense and very uncomfortable. All the customers could see it. Jaho markets itself as safe and welcoming environment for all communities, but it is obviously not the case when the baristas aren't even safe. And let's talk about the owner yelling at the baristas because she threw out bad food. I've never seen the owner in all the years I have been going to Jaho, but I see the baristas nearly every day. Who has a better idea about rotten food than the baristas? I eat there often. I do not have a high paying job, it's actually an internship with required hours. I have multiple disabilities. Getting sick doesn't just negatively impact my income, but my health, and career as well. For all the readers, Jaho is a delightful place. The baristas are the kindest people who have ever walked the earth and they are the reason why I continue to go to Jaho. I have never gotten ill and that's because I see the baristas taking care of the place. My concern is not them, evidenced by the owner's tirade about them keeping the place healthy. The owner needs to change. Or at least I hope so much he isn't the owner so he can never step foot into the shop again.

This small soup shop is a GEM! They have rotating soup selections. Add a roll and your meal is complete. I loved the chicken & vegetable soup. You have the option of adding noodles. The chicken pot pie is also delicious, plus you get a side of puff pastry!

Filled my soul with goodness! My sis and I ordered the clam and corn chowder that comes with a roll. Hit the spot on this cold October day. The team behind the counter were very sweet.

This place was amazing. For like 20 bucks I had a great soup (Lobster Newberg), a really good sandwich (Little Italy), a soda and dessert. The guy was super nice, the food was prepared immediately, and the place was almost empty so there was no wait. If you like New England soup I cannot recommend this place enough. Just order what I ordered, you can't go wrong.
Clemente B — Google review
I had one of the most unpleasant experiences at this restaurant. While the food and atmosphere seemed fine, the behavior of one staff member -- the male cashier/server -- was completely unacceptable. It took me less than three minutes to decide which soup I wanted, and when I politely asked to switch my cracker for bread (which was clearly one of the available options), he completely lost his temper. He actually threw the cracker on the floor and tossed the bread in front of me while yelling. The store was busy, but that's absolutely no excuse for that kind of behavior toward a customer. I was shocked and deeply disappointed. A simple and polite request turned into a moment of public disrespect. I truly hope the management addresses this incident seriously, because no guest should ever be treated this way.

A & J King Artisan Bakers is a cozy bakery located in New Salem, MA, known for its daily offerings of housemade loaves, pastries, and sandwiches. The warm aroma of freshly baked bread and pastries greets you as you enter the charming bakery. It's a favorite spot behind the Peabody Essex Museum where visitors can enjoy crusty artisan loaves, seasonal baked goods, and sticky kouign-amann pastries.
Absolutely delicious artisanal pastries in a cozy environment with very friendly staff! So many options to choose from with seasonal items as well. Everything was good but we especially loved the apple tart (seasonal) and the sticky bun 😋 A gem in downtown Salem, will definitely return ❤️

Amazing coffee. Best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had, ever. Generous & perfect avocado & bacon sandwich. Charming & wonderful atmosphere and staff.

14% fee?!!! The sparkling lavender lemonade was tasty. The sandwiches were ok. Service was pretty slow. Prices were steep then an "Administration fee" of 14%!!! What???? Then they expected a tip? 14%?!!! Just because? That's a hard pass for us. We won't return and can't recommend it until they get rid of the junk fee.
TodayIsOurAdventure — Google review
We went here twice, once for breakfast and lattes and the second time for lunch. I’m normally not a big sandwich fan but the pressed sandwiches were amazing! Their espresso drinks and baked goods were also great. Clean restroom, friendly people. Please note there’s a 14% charge for the staff automatically added on the total bill. I always tip for good service, but was surprised to see it already on the bill. I support living wages, but also transparency, so I’d recommend the owners post this somewhere more visible (if it’s posted, which I didn’t see).

the variety of made stuff is fine it's one of the best bakeries on the north shore. a question if you put artisan in bake shop. why do you use m&ms candy marshmallow fluff and butterscotch baking chips that is artificial based. there are organic versions way better.

Absolutely delicious! I visited this bakery after seeing it mentioned on Reddit. So glad I did! It was the best Kouign-Amann I’ve had in a while. I even got a second one to go! We also tried the sticky bun, the egg sandwich, and the blueberry galette (which was seasonal and about to be no longer available, so we just had to!). Everything was tasty and obviously made with great skill. The place was super cute and had a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff was delightful and accommodating. The coffee was perfect, too! They were happy to adjust the sweetness to my taste. Would highly recommend if you’re in the Salem area. It’s definitely not touristy. Just wonderful!

Great food and coffee, I understand it may be expensive to run a coffee shop especially in this area. But $6.44 large coffee with an automatic 14% fee on top of taxes is pretty insane. Should be transparent with guests before slipping that onto the check.

Fountain Place Restaurant is a cozy eatery known for its extensive breakfast menu and warm interiors. It's located near a fountain that resembles the one in the Friends opening credits, adding to its New England charm. The restaurant has been serving satisfied customers for 18 years, offering delicious breakfast and lunch at reasonable prices. Guests can enjoy their meals inside or outside, with quick service even during busy times.
Adorable eatery with small inside dining. I got the mushrooms Swiss burger. They use fresh mushrooms and cooked perfectly. My friend got the bacon cheeseburger and it was awesome. We upgraded to the fries and they were cooked to a nice crisp. Server was friendly and attentive.

Recently ordered French toast with powdered sugar and a side topping of strawberries with it. They forgot to put it in the bag. Wasn’t even busy when I got there at opening. And another customer ordered after me and got their order first before me. Didn’t notice until after I got to my Airbnb so I called and the lady on the phone said i could go back and that was the only option she gave for an error that was in them. Do better.

My wife and I dined here for brunch I ordered chocolate chip pancakes and they were decent. My wife ordered a mushroom “panini” it came out and wasn’t pressed in the traditional sense and wasn’t flavorful. We spoke to one of the managers and she said there isn’t anything she could do about it. My wife took one bite and we paid for something neither one of us ate. Service was terrible and they clearly don’t care about the customers.
James D — Google review
When the “service” ruins the whole meal 😒 I don’t usually post rants, but this place really tested my patience today. How you gonna serve frozen fruit on top of pancakes and French toast, soggy potatoes, and then have the nerve to expect a tip? 😤 The food was straight-up nasty, the service had zero effort, and the attitude was unreal. If you can’t treat customers with respect or cook a decent meal, don’t push that tip screen in my face. Do better.
Rosalinda A — Google review
Wonderful brunch experience here. I ordered the turkey melt and my husband got the Chicago omelette and a single piece of French toast. The service was great and fast, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The home fries had amazing seasoning and flavor. There was practically no wait despite how many others were enjoying their time here. I definitely recommend enjoying this place!

Food was good, we had the lunch plate Fish and Chips and Chicken strips and fries. Both came with salad. The highlight of this place was their server Holli, her and I having the same name and spelling was an instant connection. She was fantastic! Checked on us and delivered great food! Highly recommend Holli and this place for a bite to eat.

This functional and nicely located restaurant is okay for a stop for breakfast or lunch while in Salem. We stopped in for lunch and had a hamburger plate and a chicken topped Greek salad. See pics.We received decent service and prices are reasonable if not inexpensive due to the location in a very touristy area. My Greek salad was okay and a generous portion, however the greens were not chilled. My wife had the hamburger plate which was about average and the fries were okay, too. There is a restroom for patrons but it is down a steep flight of stairs. Not accessible for mobility-impaired. In our opinion a decent place to eat but nothing special. Indoor and outdoor seating, no booze.

Thai restaurant
Asian restaurant
Nestled within a modest shopping mall, Thai Place Restaurant offers a delightful escape into the flavors of Thailand. As the first Thai eatery in Massachusetts' North Shore, it takes pride in showcasing authentic dishes crafted with care and fresh ingredients. While some may argue that Thai cuisine is better on the West Coast, many patrons find this spot to be a close contender.
In the mall this was a nice find that wasn’t too much of a wait during the October season. The staff were friendly and the food was solidly delicious for the items we ordered. The main dishes started around $20 a plate and Thai beer was $9, thrown in an appetizer and your starting cost per person is about 30-40. This seemed typical for the area to sit down during a very tourist gathering time. (They did have lunch specials) Inside was a touch warm but over all clean and welcoming.

We were in Salem on the worst possible day of the year (Saturday before Halloween) and every place was packed. Still, we were seated and served much more quickly than expected. Staff was polite if not friendly but I don't think they had time to be very friendly. We ordered fried tofu, curry puffs, rainbow fried rice and hot chili fried rice. The tofu and curry puffs were not bad. the curry puffs are basically just small samosas. The rainbow fried rice was okay. Basic, middle-of-the-road fried rice. The hot chili fried rice, however, was possibly the best fried rice dish I've ever eaten. We were fighting over the last bite. That dish alone raised my review by a whole star and a half. It was so crowded, it's hard to judge the atmosphere or cleanliness of the place. the bathrooms were clean, though which is a good sign, especially when they were that busy.

I got a delicious Pad See U with shrimp. It was so good. I love rice noodles, and the flat rice noodles have extra texture for me to enjoy eating with the meat and veggies. So good. It was definitely worth sitting down for. ❤️ Very cozy atmosphere, too.

I sat at a table and the chair and walls were dirty. I ordered a Thai tea it wad good. I ordered spring rolls and they were hard and the sauce appeared old and fresh had pieces of sugar floating in it. The yellow curry wasn't good just too plan and simple not much taste. It could have been better compared to other thai dishes ive had. Also the prices were expensive 22 for yellow curry. The server was nice and attentive maybe I ordered the wrong dish.
Liz — Google review
Worst Thai food I ever had . The green curry had no taste . And the server tired to charge us 5 dollars because they thought we were going to use the restroom and not order . And then when we asked her for something like salt for the tasteless food it was like we bothered her. Not all the servers were like that. Only 2 of them that we meet. Others were friendly .
Munesh D — Google review
Server lady, also cashier was extremely rude. After taking a seat she brought chemical bottles and proceeded to clean the empty table next to me continuously. The smell was strong, pretty distasteful of her, I can tell she was upset or not having a good day. Pad Thai looked like ramen noodles topped with 4 small pieces of boiled chicken ( spoiled meat taste), she left the dish on the table, and left, never came back to check on my meal. I do not only “not” recommend the place for the service but the food, I’m a traveler and would hate to cut my vacation short due to food poising Please be aware of the little ones, if you go with your kiddos please taste their meal to make sure the meat is not spoiled. *Pad thai is not part of the lunch menu*

Worst service ever from Thai restaurant I ever been on my life. I still not believing my experience. Usually Thai restaurant always give excellent service. Not this one. Dont go to this one. They are so rude, only start nice when at the end when they gave bills, I notice they forget to put on of my friend's food to the bill. I was being honest and tell them they forgot to put one dish to the bill. That is the moment they finally talk sweet n nice and say thank you. Food lil bit pricey for average quality, service awful. Just don't go here !

O'Neills Pub & Restaurant is a vibrant and welcoming Irish bar that captures the essence of traditional pub culture while offering a modern twist. Located in Salem, this lively spot has earned its reputation as one of the best places on the North Shore for both food and drinks. The menu features classic dishes like bangers & mash and traditional Irish curry, ensuring there's something for everyone to enjoy.
Brought my girls to Salem to spread some of their mothers ashes on Mothers Day. She used to lead a camp on Winter Island. We made our way there and I told some stories. We headed into Salem proper to see about some witchcraft and candy. After 20 minutes trying to find a space to park, we pass ONeills. We found a spot up the street. I pointed out the pub as a place their mom would have loved (she may have already known it) and said we should eat there. When we were finished shopping, we headed to the pub. A music circle was in full swing and we felt right at home. We were sat next to a family of five with young kids. Turns out the mom there was sisters with one of my wife's former campers! She explained ONeills was their local and where she met her husband. My girls got up to do Irish Step and were welcomed with open arms. It was a great atmosphere, with caring staff, good food, and cold beer. I can't wait to get back.

Me and my little boy stopped by for lunch right when they opened the doors for the day. We sat at the window and watched the rain and passerby. He had a delicious hotdog and fries. I had the Shepherd’s Pie Rangoons, which were very good and the Beef Stew. The stew was so tasty and perfect for the cold and rainy weather. We actually met the owner at breakfast down the street at Red’s Sandwich Shop. We talked briefly and let him know about the great experience we had at his pub. Can’t wait to return!

This little pub was really cute! We visited two days before Halloween, and they had it decorated so fun with tons of festive Halloween decorations. We were greeted right away, and our server was very friendly and welcoming. They have a nice beer selection, and we started with the fried pickles appetizer — they were great! Just your standard pickle chips, but the breading had good flavor, and the spicy ranch dip was excellent. For our main dishes, we split a hot chicken sandwich and an order of their mac & cheese. The chicken sandwich had great flavor, a fresh-tasting sauce, and a really good bun. The fries that came with it were average, but still good. The mac & cheese came out piping hot in a skillet — creamy, flavorful, and topped with perfectly toasted breadcrumbs. Service was quick and attentive; our table was cleared promptly. Overall, I’d definitely recommend eating here if you’re in Salem!

Essex's N.Y. Pizza & Deli is a laid-back spot in Salem, known for its New York-style pizza and casual eats. The menu includes delicious slices of pizza, calzones, and specialty pizzas. It's a fun and welcoming environment where you can grab a quick slice to go or sit back and relax with funky playlists in the background. In addition to pizza, they offer crispy chicken options for those not in the mood for pizza.
Pizza was amazing and so was the service! We got a margarita pizza and a cheese, both were absolutely delicious. The crust was perfect, the dough tasted as if it came out of an oven ran by angels, the tomatoes were so fresh, and the cheese was perfectly chewy. Additionally, the staff was very accommodating with my dairy allergy (the margarita pizza uses buffalo mozzarella, so I was able to eat it), and they even googled the ingredients to make sure it was fine for me! Absolute 5 stars, we just moved to the area, and will be coming back so many more times!

This place is WAY over priced! I ordered a ham and cheese wrap with a water. 26 dollars. Not at all what the menu says! If you want to be price gouged, go here! At least the wrap was good and fries were good, but definately not 26 dollars good! I should have gone to a high end gourmet Italian restaurant! Definately don't recommend

We had just come from visiting New York and had Joe's pizza, so we were in for a comparison and this place did not disappoint! The pizza was so delicious with that nice crunchy crust! Floppy triangle end with all the toppings. They hit it out of the park here. It was quite busy when we were there but had hardly any wait. The staff here were so sweet and quick! Would absolutely make this a must stop going forward! Appreciate you all!

We came from Buffalo first time and we had high hopes for the Pizza up here (we’re known for our pizza!!!) and MAN were we HAPPY with our first choice!! We sat down and got some slices, loved it so much we kept going back for more! THEN- we loved it so much we got a whole pizza for our last dinner. (4 times in 2 days to be exact) The employees were so friendly, one even gave us stickers because we were SO pumped to find good pizza (my husband proposed with one so if anyone knows good pizza IT’S US!) we even got a hoodie and a couple pins as well as a dozen sides of the bleu cheese bc it reminds us of rooties back home (best blue cheese ever) all in all, the Halloween atmosphere, food, and people sold us for life. Best pizza in Salem we would say!! You will not regret your choice at Essex Pizza, our only regret is that we cannot bring endless slices home. Thank you for the welcoming experience we will be dreaming of your pizza until we can meet again, Go Bills!!!!

As soon as I seen this spot I HAD to make a stop! I’m a huge fan of macaroons and this spot in Salem did not disappoint! They all were very good, tasted fresh and authentic (not those pre made macaroons you pull out of the freezer to sell). The service was great, I found everyone very welcoming and nice even tho the environment was a bit hectic due to Halloween weekend in Salem. This was by far my favorite place. During my visit to Salem on the weekend before Halloween. Every day that I went I would get the flan, the vanilla eclair is delicious as well. My wife got the pistachio cake. It was good also. This is a must stop but you have to go early because they sell out

My wife loves macarons, so after spotting this place we walked across Salem to try it and sit down for a bit. When we arrived, neither employee — including what seemed to be the owner — greeted us. We got our macarons and another dessert, but they were out of baguettes, even though it was only around noon. As we sat, we noticed signs saying “this table closed” or “for paying customers only,” which felt unwelcoming. Later that evening, every table had a sign. If you don’t want to be in the customer service business, don’t open a bakery.
Bradley M — Google review
We ordered 6 desserts: eclair, fruit tart, hazelnut paris brest, s'mores macaron, pumpkin cheesecake, & key lime pie. The hazelnut and key lime pie were the only desserts that got finished. The vanilla custard in the eclair and fruit tart unfortunately tasted like it was made with an expired ingredient. The macaron and cheesecake were dry and the multiple flavors didn't enhance or compliment each other.
Keanne M — Google review
Unfortunately we were told they only had 1 nut free option so we couldn’t try anything :( I’m simply writing this review as maybe a suggestion for a bit more variety since nuts are a very common allergy! Still gave 2 starts for the beautiful looking desserts and cute storefront

I was looking for coffee ☕ and a fellow Google, reviewer had a photo of a coconut 🥥 latte and a description that sounded good. I read the menu inside and I didn't see it. I had a Fluffanutter latte with a cruller and a bagel 🥯 with cucumber 🥒, sprouts and garlic 🧄 and herb cheese. Enjoyable! I was told that they can make previous special lattes. They rotate the specials but you can request a previous item, if they have the ingredients. I liked the artwork and photography that was for sale on the walls. Service was friendly, the WiFi was available, the inside is multi level and when weather ☁️ permits, there is outdoor seating. You can watch the tour buses drive up. I recommend this cafe and the lunch menu looks good 👍!

I changed my order to a hot americano from an iced one (despite the hot temperatures outside) because they mentioned they only served hot coffee in reusable mugs which is what I asked for. Yet when the order was ready it came in a single use container. It’s not only wasteful but also really disappointing. I care about the environment and coffee in a paper mug tastes like wet cardboard in addition to the chemicals from the inner lining being released into the coffee… In addition I had ordered an 8oz coffee but they charged me and gave me 12 oz. I am not sure if the server had a bad day or something but it certainly kinda ruined my day too. 5 bucks for an americano is quite expensive especially when the service is not good.

The coffee was just ok, super super strong we had to go have them fix it up a little more to even slightly enjoy it but the real issue is the lack of hospitality and kindness the following day after my child left a shopping bag there and we called up there right when they opened to see if someone turned it in to them. The girl answered the phone BEYOND RUDE and told us she didn’t have time to go check we needed to come up there , which would make no difference, even if we came up there she would have to go to the back and look. We are 20 minute drive from there out of the way and then have to turn around and get to the airport to leave which we were willing to do if we knew the bag was there but wasting 40 minutes driving for it not to be there and for her to still have to go look if it was in the back is absolutely ridiculous. This was our first trip to Salem and the beginning of our yearly mother daughter trips and we have definitely removed this place from our recommendations and future visits using your tail Kynleigh wear a ponytail

There are so many things I love at this shop. Everything is always so consistent. The vibes are immaculate and the chairs are comfy. They have a ton of cool art on the walls and it's always changing which I love. The workers are pleasant and the manager, Alex, is a warm and welcome face. I drink decaf and have been given regular in the past at other places but I trust this shop to do me right so I don't need to worry about a straight up panic attack. Abu is a favorite of mine and is always working hard. Even during the busiest times in October the quality doesn't fail. Front Street Coffee is a must go and a 10/10.
Amanda L — Google review
Let me preface that this was a weekend in October so I’m sure the store on a normal day is better. We were waiting outside for 15 minutes when they decided to take the menu off the window and limit the menu drastically. They did not toast the English muffin for our breakfast sandwich and all of the drinks turned out terrible. The spice chai smells delicious but it tastes like water. I paid $12 for a lukewarm, untoasted English muffin and an egg puck. Wouldn’t waste your time, go to the Dunkin 0.1 miles away

I'm really glad that we found this place as opposed to going to one of the more well-known ones on the main streets whereby 9:00 a.m. there was already a line around the block here we were able to walk right in had no line and be served very quickly with a place to see and everything. Prices were really really good You can get food coffee teas just a great selection of everything I tried Vietnamese iced coffee which apparently has chicory in it and I really liked it with a little bit of cream and sugar. I would highly recommend going here

The worst Vietnamese coffee ever! I asked a little bit ice but I got full cup of ice. This coffee shop looks dirty and missy. Where are those 4 and half reviews come from?

Nestled in the heart of Salem, MA, Casa Tequila Mexican Restaurant & Bar is a delightful haven for lovers of authentic Mexican cuisine. This cozy spot specializes in comfort food crafted from high-quality ingredients and traditional recipes, ensuring every dish is made from scratch.
Oh my goodness! Great mexican food. Everything tasted authentic. We ordered the Green Chili Verde with carnitas, rice, and beans. Great flavor. The quesadilla was tasty as well. The Diablo jalapeño margarita with a spicy rim was so yummy. Just the right amount of heat with those lovely peppers. If you're in Salem, it's definitely worth the stop if you're in the mood for some good Mexican food.

We went to have lunch here before our tour. The place is really nice with not too loud Mexican music. Service was fast and accommodating, always making sure our food was ok and we had enough to drink. We went for the spinach-chicken enchiladas and a vegetarian dish (beans and cheese burrito and quesadilla), and everything was really tasty! They also serve complimentary nachos with homemade salsa while waiting for your food (delicious) and the portions were huge and well prepared. Safe to say we were packed after lunch, thank good the tour was a two hour walking tour!

We had a great time here. They fed our group quickly and everything tasted great. The decor is delightful and the staff was excellent. They have really made an effort to make all the spaces feel intimate and friendly. My kids even ate all the food.

Best Mexican food in Salem, MA. The food was fresh and the refried beans were amazing. I highly suggest the cucumber margarita during the summer it was quite refreshing. I had the enchilada verde, chicken fajitas, and flan which I highly recommend. Portions are large and price is quite responsible. I will be back soon.

Okay when you read or hear about Mexican restaurants that's what exactly you think is Mexican food... Right?! Well this was a little disappointing because of one food choice they had but the rest was amazing. I order the multiple items in one dish, which is one cheese enchiladas, meat enchiladas and a taco with rice and beans..... 😶... Well that's what I imagine when I was getting my food... They finally bring it to me and the taco was not even a taco it was a taco exactly like 🌮 taco bell.... 😶 😂 I was like nnnnnoooo this is an insult to all mexicanos. I'm not sure if they were trying to please the Americans (Caucasian) but come on its not even a Mexican taco... That's the only reason I removed one star but the rest was exactly how a Mexican food should be. The rice was perfect and the salsa was trash but I asked for the hottest they had and that one didn't disappoint. The margaritas was 3/5 they were a little weak for being a Mexican restaurant but like I said maybe they trying to please the locals or people who are more sensitive. I would revisit but for the cheese enchiladas not the taco 🌮 😂 staff was friendly and amazing, the place was pleasing with enjoyable music. Besides that taco we had a great time.

Most recent visit (7/4/24): It was a much improved experience over the last time. We ordered fajita nachos and wings. The regular nachos and salsa they brought out was great, very tasty and fresh, no complaints. The wings i ordered on a whim were hands down the greatest thing on the menu. These are cooked and seasoned perfectly, they were extremely tender and crispy and I couldn't stop eating them. Highly recommended if you come here. Conversely, the fajita nachos were outright terrible with an American cheese on top. The menu just said cheese, if i had known they were going to use this, i would have asked them to omit it. Overall, I'll be back for the wings and will be sure to ask what type of cheese is being used before ordering again any nachos. Thanks for being open yesterday! Edited: Update your restaurant mask policy, it says masks required, but no one was wearing them, including your waitstaff. Masks were NOT worn or required by anyone coming here, heed this if you are one that cares about this policy. It was aight, but far from ideal. You can see it was a little busy, and we did come at 10pm. Service was fast for how it was, though judging by how everyone was seated outside, you could see we weren't given a choice to sit in. Our seating though was a bit awkward, as we were put on the far outskirts of the restaurant, almost like we didn't want to be seen by others. I can't see the appeal of this though, as we were literally on the corner of the sidewalk. I'd rather sit in if this is how it's gonna be. We weren't given a menu but expected to use our phones instead, not a huge fan of this, give me a piece of paper if you must, the prices of the dishes can warrant a small cost like such. Ordered drinks. My friend got margaritas and said they were very nice, it looked great too. I ordered some coconut rum drink. It was okay, but it went from being too sweet to super diluted from the excessive ice. The combination of OJ, cranberry and coconut was a nice touch though, would definitely enjoy it in a non alcoholic version in the near future. Chips and salsa were there. Glad they were served, but nothing to write home about, or even warmed a little. Given that they were free, I'll deal with them being slightly stale. Salsa was nice enough to put it with. Ordered what I think was a chicken quesadilla fajita? Was recommended by the waiter. I just wanted a quesadilla but said this was better for 2 people. The quesadilla would have been a better choice to be honest, There was a mound of shredded lettuce topped with too much sour cream, guac and a slice of tomato. The chicken was chewy and the cheese tasted like american cheese slices melted, not a fan of that. The presentation was good, and it was pretty but that was about it for me Overall for the price it was to be expected for the time we showed up, though I'll just opt for fast food in the future at this time frame (10pm). I'll have to revisit during an earlier time to see if the quality improves, at night you can tell they bank on you being drunk to not really worry about the food and the servers are tired, especially since it was so busy.
Gennario V — Google review
My friends and I ate here during our visit. We actually passed the restaurant and noticed the giant margaritas so we had to go back. The food was delicious and well seasoned. Better than my local area. The margaritas were to die for. I suggest the watermelon one and the blue one. Our server was great as well. We had the best time eating here and it was one of the best experiences. Thank you all!

The shop offers a variety of drinking chocolate elixirs based on historical sources, including Mayan, Aztec, colonial American, and modern-day concoctions. I live in CT and I took a trip to Salem today (2+hour drive). I stopped in here, got a chocolate drink and of all the places and things I did in Salem all I could think about was the chocolate drink lol I need more chocolate drink😂😂 I’m trying to convince myself driving 2+hours for it is totally fine🤪 Happy to see I can order the “elixir” online to make at home!

Stopped in for hot chocolate. Left with wonderful memories. Our kids got scooped up by a gentleman who I assumed to be the owner. He brought them to the back to make some chocolates themselves. Mary also took great care of us in delivering some of the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life. Will surely return every time we’re in Salem

The Roof is a trendy rooftop restaurant and bar located in Hotel Salem, offering modern Mexican cuisine and craft cocktails with a fashionable vibe. With seating for 85 guests and space for an additional 150 standing, it's a popular party destination. The tiki bar style creates an inviting atmosphere, while the urban air of the bar suits the retro decor of the hotel below. The rooftop offers a great selection of craft cocktails, local beers, and wines to enjoy while taking in beautiful views.
Fantastic atmosphere! The drinks are so delicious and always made to perfection, and super yummy. I absolutely adore the staff, they are super attentive and always make sure everyone feels welcomed; and always friendly! Not to mention the beautiful view! Who doesn’t want to enjoy a delicious espresso martini under the sunset? Honestly cannot wait to go back! 5/5! ⭐️ If you’re in Salem I will always highly recommend the roof!

I wanted to give this place a good review because we had a good experience while we were there. However, that changed when I saw my bank statement a few days later. I had paid the bill using a card. And tipped in cash. Filled the slip in with a zero on the tip line and wrote the total amount on the total line. Bill was $209. I left a $50 cash tip, which we thought was generous. Because our waitress was nice. To my surprise, an additional $50 tip was added to my bill. I visited this restaurant on 9/27/25. Noticed the additional charge on 9/30/25. I called immediately to talk to someone. I provided them with the check number and exact times of the tab being opened and the time my card was swiped to make it easier on their end. I was told I would be contacted by management from food and beverage that day. No one called. I called the following day. And was told no one was in for management for that department and to be on standby. Which I explained is unacceptable because this is now fraud, you've taken an addition $50. I called the day after, and was told it might be easier if I stop in, this was a day trip to Salem. Stopping in is not an option, it's not that hard to pick up the phone and return a phone call. Each time I've tried calling since 10/3/25, I get no answer now. So I have had to contact my bank and report this now as fraud. And write this review since I see that these reviews get responses pretty fast. Kindy funny how you can respond to Google review much faster than returning a simple phone call. Had I gotten a call. I wouldn't have posted this. However, here we are. Maybe this will get your attention.

I can’t say enough good things about my visit to The Roof in Salem. The sunset was absolutely beautiful, making the vibes even more amazing. Our server Cat was truly the highlight of the night. She was warm, attentive, and so much fun to chat with. Cat had that perfect balance of being right there when we needed something, but never rushing us, and she made the whole experience feel extra special. She deserves all the credit for making our evening unforgettable. Every single staff member we interacted with was beyond kind and friendly, adding to the overall welcoming vibe. The food and drinks were fantastic. My absolute favorite was the Caribbean Punch, so refreshing and packed with flavor. My group also loved the lemon drop shots, which were perfectly balanced and a great way to toast the night. And the street corn… I’m still dreaming about it. It was one of the best I’ve ever had. Everything came out quickly, beautifully presented, and exactly as we ordered. Between the incredible sunset view, the amazing drinks, the unforgettable food, and Cat’s phenomenal service, it was the perfect evening. I definitely will be coming back and bringing more friends and family!

We ordered tacos, came on a paper plate my wife's tacos toppings weren't even on the inside of the shell, asked for salsa and they didn't have any. Multiple Mexican food items on menu without salsa. Bees will swarm on you while eating and the wind being on the roof is a challenge keeping everything on the table.

I went here last week with a couple of my friends and had a great time. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing. Our waitress in particular was always on top of it and we got our food and drinks in a timely manner. She made sure that we were all taken care of at all times. It is a great spot to go for a girls night or date night. I definitely will be back whether it be with my friends or family!!

Go for drinks only…. Don’t order food, kitchen has leadership problems, needs help with the basics. (i.e. $22 lobster bisque shouldn’t be served cold then when reheated/microwaved and then returned in a paper cup after first serving in a proper bowl) Service (Nathan & upstairs hostess with curly hair) were very helpful and went out of their way to accommodate us. Sunset was beautiful. Roof decor was modern and nice. EXCEPT: kitchen hood vent fan very loud and impossible to ignore, was louder than the music.

Harbor Sweets is a delightful destination for chocolate lovers, especially during the winter season. Their Cocoa Sante hot chocolate line offers four flavors made with natural ingredients, perfect for sipping on a cold day. The Classic Gift Assortment features a nautical theme and includes the iconic Sweet Sloops, which were the first chocolates developed by Harbor Sweets. Additionally, their Salt & Ayre line combines truffles and salted chocolates inspired by Salem's history in the spice trade.

You can watch the chocolates being made at this glass walled chocolatier. The staff when I visited was lacking in experience and product knowledge, and I was charged $2 each for items labeled $1 each in the case, but still I like the chocolates and the set up

We popped in to see where Harbor Sweets is based. The store is in an old building that looks a bit shabby and there is not a lot of street parking nearby. They have a variety of prepackaged chocolates and a small case of items for custom packing. The chocolates we tried were very good.

Harbor Sweets are my favorite chocolates, especially the dark chocolate sloops. They never disappoint, all of their chocolates are delicious. Their customer service is the best around, Donna takes good care of us.

Harbor Sweets is my favorite chocolate store in the world. I've tried tons of Chocolate in the US, Switzerland and Italy and I have to say that this is the best. They offer a variety of unique chocolates that are all homemade here at their factory/store in small batches. They have big windows so that you can see the chocolate being made. The chocolate is a bit pricey, but totally worth it. If you ever visit Salem this is a must go spot. They sell their chocolate at other locations as well like Shubies in Marblehead and they have an online store. If their chocolate is too pricey for you, you can wait for post-holiday sales where they'll give you ~20-30% off. Try ANY of their chocolates, they're all amazing, I've never had one that I didn't like.

With an open kitchen, the restaurant is perfect for lunchtime diners looking for an affordable and casual meal. Some of the vegan options on the menu include the Hummus Platter, Falafel in Pita, and the Israell Salad.

My fiancé and I were craving oxtail and decided to order from this Jamaican restaurant—and let me just say, the food did not disappoint! The oxtail was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. Everything we tried was seasoned so well and packed with flavor. I forgot to grab the chef’s name, but whoever was behind the food that night deserves a big shoutout. You can tell there’s real love and skill going into the cooking here. We’ll definitely be ordering again—highly recommend if you’re looking for authentic, delicious Jamaican food! I was not able to take pictures but we will be back and let me not forget my beef patty- I ate it for lunch and it was perfect!

Oxtail Flavor/spice was good, rice n peas was mediocre at best, portion was lacking with the oxtail and 2 measley fried plantains.

This place is excellent! The lunch special is solid - the jerk chicken is delicious and tender, served bone-in and chopped into 3-4 pieces, over peas and rice and some fried plantains - and the rest of the menu has something for everyone. I almost always get two beef and cheese patties to go, they're always warm and flavorful, and they have a bit of spice too, talk about comfort food! Ray himself is usually behind the register when I go in, he has such a warm and welcoming personality and he's made his spot a comfortable, convenient location for delicious food that is really hard to find. On top of that he's willing to chat for a bit and he has a great memory, making each visit feel more and more comfortable and personable. Highly recommended, even if you're just visiting!

The Hawthorne Hotel, a historic establishment in Salem, has been an elegant anchor in the downtown area since 1925. This 93-room hotel and adjacent guesthouse boast period-style decor and have welcomed notable guests like President Bill Clinton, Robert De Niro, and Jennifer Lawrence. The hotel overlooks the scenic Salem Common and is conveniently located within walking distance of popular attractions.
It was my dream to stay in Hawthorne Hotel when visiting my dream destination, Salem. I love the historical aesthetic and yet they manage to have current hotel functions. It shows it’s an old place but in a homey and beautiful way. I appreciated their accommodations as someone with a 2 year old. They not only provided a pack and play crib but also a mini fridge free of charge to store some food for our daughter. The front of restaurant was also very kind and accommodating when I requested something that wasn’t on the menu for my daughter. I also appreciated the complimentary coffee/water/lemonade in the lobby everyday, it was delightful to sit there while drinking, especially with the calming and classical music in the background. And don’t get me started with the location. It is dead centre in Salem and EVERYTHING is walking distance, which is amazing for families. Our view was of the Witch Museum and Salem Common. When I visit Salem again I will definitely try to stay here again as well. It’s got convenience, history, and luxury wrapped in one. You get what you pay for!

This hotel was the perfect place to call home base for our Salem trip! Its location right at the end of Essex Street and just 5 minutes walking from the water meant we rarely had to catch rides unless we wanted to venture out far from downtown. We were doing a ton of shopping so it was nice always being a few minutes away from being able to drop stuff off! The roaring 20's aesthetic and historic info plastered around the lobby was fun to read, and the food was always amazing, though fair warning the portions are all shareable (especially the sundae served in a mixing bowl and cheese plate appetizer that includes 4 whole blocks of cheese, an entire baguette, and piles of fruit). The staff were also all super nice, especially the bartender. Our room was tiny and adorable, with the famous "shower closet" being a fun perk every morning. I highly recommend getting a room early as even in September it got booked quick (both by tourists and hosting weddings and corporate events). We will definitely be staying there again!

The Hawthorne Hotel was truly the wedding venue of my dreams. I could not be more grateful to every single person who works there for making our day so special and seamless. We had the absolute pleasure of working with Beth Pasquarello, and she was nothing short of incredible. Anyone who can handle my family’s chaos deserves a medal, but Beth went above and beyond that. Every detail I obsessed over, she cared about just as much. Every idea we had, she made happen. From the chairs and menu to the ballroom layout and flow of the night—Beth made sure every single element was perfect. And I mean perfect. The entire staff was just as wonderful. We held our ceremony outdoors in the Salem Commons, and in true New England fashion, it downpoured right in the middle of it. What could’ve been a disaster turned into one of my favorite memories, thanks to the Hawthorne team. Between the ceremony and cocktail hour, they greeted our soaked guests with warm towels and hair dryers. By the time cocktail hour was in full swing, everyone was dry, laughing, and having the best time again. Throughout the night, the staff checked on me and my husband constantly—bringing us food, drinks, and reassurance. Their kindness and professionalism made us feel so cared for. And the food… unbelievable. There’s wedding food, and then there’s Hawthorne Hotel food. Our guests are still talking about how it was the best meal they’ve ever had at a wedding! During cocktail hour, we served oysters, duck pâté, and scallops—each one perfection. For dinner, we chose filet and sea bass, and somehow, they were even better. I still dream about that meal. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning. As someone who always dreamed of getting married in Salem, the Hawthorne exceeded every expectation. The historic charm, elegant ballroom, and cozy rooms created the perfect backdrop for our celebration. Whether you want a classic New England wedding, a whimsical spooky Salem vibe, or (like me) a mix of both, the Hawthorne delivers it all—with style and magic. Ask for the haunted bridal suite, and you will feel it too! I had the most AMAZING wedding here, and I would choose the Hawthorne a million times over.

Beautiful hotel in the heart of downtown and in walking distance to the best places to visit during spooky season. The Tavern and Nathaniel’s in the lobby were great dinning options. The complimentary cider and water every afternoon was very nice. The historical factor was a plus. If staying in spooky places is your thing then this is a great option for you. Just know the walls are paper thin and you can hear just about everything happening in the rooms next door. Besides that and the fact the air was off and/or on heat without a way of setting it to cool, it was a great location.

The Hawthorne Hotel is a fantastic year-round stay in Salem. The location is perfect: walkable to museums, shops, and the waterfront, yet it still feels calm and welcoming. Rooms are cozy and comfortable, with the classic New England charm you want for a Salem getaway. The in-house restaurant is a standout: delicious food, friendly service, and super convenient after a full day exploring. Reliable, warm, and well-situated—highly recommend. Plus, if you're a history buff, this hotel is filled with it!

It was an okay stay. I find it odd that a pet friendly hotel has carpeting throughout the room. You have to call the front desk if you want a mini fridge for the room, there's no microwave in the room. The front desk staff is professional but not friendly or welcoming. They are very snooty. The cleaning staff is very attentive, friendly, and thorough. You simply can't beat the location but everything else is hype. I would stay else where when we go again. I couldn't wait to check out.

Nice historic hotel. Obtained 2 rooms. If I knew now that all odd number rooms face inward to the back i would have requested from facing rooms. The rear rooms circle around the vents and exhaust from kitchen on ground floor and filter up to rooms above. Sure, u can close windows but prefer them open. When making reservations request for even numbered rooms (face out)

Went to a wedding and reception there. Food and service were amazing. Superb. I had salmon, others had steak tips. All were imoressed. We stayed the night. Its clear the hotel is historic -- very high ceilings, windows that open, few outlets, etc -- but very comfortable. Parking is tough at times, but its Salem so not specific to the hotel.

Taco restaurant
Spitfire Tacos in Salem is a compact and casual restaurant that offers a variety of Mexican specialties and vegan dishes, with the option for take-out. The menu features an excellent selection of tacos, including fish, chicken, vegan, pork, beef, and more. Additionally, they offer choco tacos for those hot summer days. Customers love the flavorful and fresh tacos as well as the grilled corn on the cob that's cut fresh for each dish.
Taco was good, gonna come back and try some more. That fish taco reminds me of food from Seoul, wth????

This place is FIRE! We saw the ratings of this place and wanted to check it out. It's your usual dive with amazing food. The menu is mostly tacos and burritos, but has various other sides and mains as well as vegetarian options. The tacos are amazing, flavourful, and super fresh. I love that the corn is grilled on the cob and cut fresh to be added to your dish. I took a photo but only after we dug in, they were so good! We loved our taco choices so much we got their burrito versions to go. If you're in Salem and want good food, walk a little further past the streetside restaurants and check out Spitfire, you won't regret it!

***I got food poisoning here*** Got fooled by the high rating. Came way out of the way. We came in right after lunch time (1:30 pm). The food was not safe to eat, full stop. It seemed like it had been cooked previously and insufficiently reheated. Didn't finish it, of course. Guacamole was extremely salty (and I like things salty). Chips were cold and stale. Place is also just overall gross. Countertops feel gross, chairs are falling apart, chipped, stained. Just overall low effort. I'd be fine with the cost per taco if the quality matched but it doesn't.

**Catering Review** Spitfire Tacos catered my wedding in June 2022, and it was hands-down the best vendor decision we made. Kathleen and Ryan were so helpful throughout the planning process, and our friends are still talking about the food two weeks later. During planning, we worked with Kathleen on the menu -- letting her know what we liked, what we wanted to avoid, any allergies on the guestlist, and what we were going for with the vibe. From there we let her and Ryan take creative control and they created a "deconstructed" version of our favorites from the Spitfire menu. Our wedding was on the Hannah Glover boat via Mahi Cruises (also amazing) and we needed a buffet, so we didn't want anything too messy. Guests were able to build their own bowls on a bed of rice -- adding crispy marinated pork belly, peanut chicken, and shredded ribeye, plus toppings including mango, pickled onion, jicama, etc. We had several amazing and hearty salads as well, including a spin on street corn. In lieu of a wedding cake, we had dozens of handmade miniature choco tacos. Spitfire supplied all set up and break down, the warmers and trays, and even an extra set of hands from the restaurant was there to help make sure everything went smoothly. The food was as good for the last guest in line as it was for the first. I can't overstate how good the food was, how kind and attentive the owners were throughout the process, and how blown away the whole party was with our catering. Since good wedding food is rare, this was so important to us. Thank you Kathleen, Ryan, and the entire Spitfire team for a truly memorable dinner!!!

So, I recently visited Spitfire Tacos in Salem again, and let me tell you, this place never fails to impress me! I used to go there pretty often, and even after a few months, the quality and taste remain as incredible as always. This time, they brought back the Wagu, pineapple, and pickled onion taco (Limited time only) on the menu. I couldn't resist and ordered it alongside my all-time favorites, the Vampiro and Chili Shrimp tacos. My fiancé decided to try the Vampiro and Fish tacos. One thing I absolutely love about Spitfire Tacos is their fast service. Although the tacos are made to order (just the way God intended), you won't have to wait too long for your order to be ready. They've got it down to just a few minutes, which is perfect for those of us who are always on the go or simply can't wait to dive into some delicious tacos. Having lived in California for nine years, I've tried my fair share of Mexican tacos, and Spitfire Tacos definitely stands out. They manage to add their own twist to the classic taco without ruining the experience. The flavors in their tacos work incredibly well together, and it's obvious that the chef and menu preparer know what they're doing. Oh, and their Fresno sauce? Amazing! It really adds that extra kick to the tacos. The portion sizes are spot-on, too – not too big, not too small, just the right amount to satisfy my hunger. And those tortillas... cooked to perfection every single time! For those who prefer to sit and enjoy their tacos, there's some seating available inside, which is always a nice option. I've got to say, I'm really impressed with Spitfire Tacos. If you're ever craving some fantastic tacos with fresh ingredients and speedy service, this is the place to go. Seriously, give it a try – you won't be disappointed!

First time in Salem and the reviews of Spitfire Tacos on Google draw us there. Granted, as others have said the tacos are $6-$7 each and sounds expensive, but they're worth it for two reasons. #1, they taste great, and #2, the filing is almost twice as much as tacos at other taquerias! We ordered one quesadilla ($7), one Vampiro Taco ($7), Quacamole & Chips ($7) and side of Pico de Gallo ($2). Everything was excellent. The quesadilla had cheddar and Jack blend of cheese (and plenty of it) and chipotle aioli served with sour cream and Pico de Gallo The Vampiro Taco was flour tortillas, jack cheese, carne asada cooked in some awesome Fresno hot sauce and topped with quacamole, yum! The chips were freshly fried and quacamole was very good although both needed a bit more salt. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Spent a little time in Salem for spooky season got us a little famished. We wanted something different and familiar, if that can be said of something. Popped onto my radar was Spitfire Tacos. They are fat, full, and delicious; packed with flavor. I like how creative the tacos are. I mean... bacon jam on a fish taco. *mind blown* I would definitely eat here again should I come back to visit Salem.

Totally forgot to leave a review last time I went here, but it's definitely the best mexican food you can get in town for sure. tacos are so bomb, everything is amazingly seasoned, stuff's always done timely and is exceptionally well crafted. with vegan, vegetarian, steak (hella good), pork, and chicken options, idk what else you could ask for (except maybe a bag of chips and a side of guacamole). Also they have burritos made entirely to what you request. so yeah, my bad for not getting a picture of my full meal...i really wanted to eat, but i'm pretty sure i tried a mix of a few of the craft tacos and i think the one in my hand is the Vampiro taco, which rightfully seems like a crowd favorite. If you are new here and are looking for a quick bite, go for it! If you have been wanting to try this place out, stop waiting and go for it. If you have already gone here and want to go back, I don't know why you are reading this. If you work at Spitfire and are reading the reviews for your spot, thank you for your service and keep up the amazing work. You are appreciated 💯🔥.
