Bakery
Cafe
Coffee Time Bake Shop is a beloved family-owned bakery in Salem, offering an array of classic pastries, cakes, and bagels alongside hot and cold drinks. Visitors can indulge in their famous real cream Bismarks and seasonal doughnut-related specials like paczki, sufganiyot, and cider doughnuts.
The best bakery in Salem! They always have a fun selection of donuts and pastries, pies, cakes, cookies… everything you could want and everything is so good! I also love their selection of coffee and breakfast sandwiches. The employees are always so super sweet. We come in here several times a week. It’s my emotional support establishment. I would work here even if they just paid me in coffee time gift cards. I love you, Coffee Time!!

Great place for coffee and pastries. The Boston Cream doughnut was Amazing! Every child would love a silly face cookie 😜. The scones looked delicious.
Diana K — Google review
Stopped going here for a while and thought it would be different today but they tried just dumping 6 cannolis in a bag with a donut. I asked him to put them in a small box so they arent ruined, the then shoved 2 eclairs in the box as well. Slid me the box and there was a long hair across the top of the cannolis. He showed another employee and she just says “that’s gross”. They put new cannolis in a new box but put the same eclairs that had the hair in the new box, one which was thrown upside down. There’s also a paper or string or something on the new cannolis. Ordered a strawberry smoothie as well, their smoothies went from $7 for a 16oz cup to the same price in a 12oz cup and use next to no flavor so it tasted like just ice. For the prices here, I’m thoroughly disappointed in today’s service. Especially the not replacing the eclairs that were also in the box with the hair, will probably just throw those away even though I paid for them.

This place is awesome! Highly recommend. We went after dinner at like 9 o'clock, got a pumpkin cheesecake and a strawberry shortcake for there, then 2 cannolis and a that thing that's like a sweet hot dog bun with cream and lemon filling. Late night bakery, you can't beat that. Plus it's got the vibe of an old school dinner mixed with a bakery. I wanted to get pretty much everything in there. The pumpkin cheesecake was lightly spiced, lightly sweet, and didn't sit in my stomach like a rock. The strawberry shortcake was made with these like glazed strawberries (probably to keep them fresh or maybe just more pleasing to the eye) with 2 layers of cake and this creamy icing, not too dry not too filling, not too sweet, just perfect. Then the cannolis, woooo those were some of the best cannolis I've ever had! I got the plain ricotta filled ones, the shell was perfect not too hard not too soft, the ricotta was decadent and smooth, you gotta get them. Then that hot dog bun (not an actual hot dog bun I just forgot what it's called) with the cream in it and the lemon filling, really good ratio, the lemon jelly was nice, a little on the sweet side but the tartness helped elevate it and the cream rounded it out. I cannot wait to go back here. I mean a bakery that's open till 10, what more can you ask for! Also it was like 25 bucks for all that if I remember correctly. This place rocks.
Austen G — Google review
It's like what I imagine dunkins was like before it got huge and "optimized". Super low key, great baked goods, friendly and fast staff. I walk here a few times every week and have never been disappointed. It's also open surprisingly late if you need any emergency evening cake.
Kyle S — Google review
The products are varied and genuinely interesting, and everything I bought tasted great. However, the customer service left much to be desired. The person who served me didn’t seem interested in helping and gave me that unpleasant feeling of being a bother. Even though the place itself seems unique, that experience takes away my desire to return. That said, the food was excellent.
Lucas G — Google review
The coffee was meh but the bakery items and choices left me a little speechless. I was not expecting the variety. Everyone was also incredibly nice and attentive. I'm very picky about coffee and I only have a 3 type rating system. Its either freaking delicious, acceptable drinkable, and unacceptable but I need a caffeine vessel. This coffee is absolutely acceptable. I would definitely get it again if it were my only option.
Cherri G — Google review
We stopped here for an afternoon treat and coffee. With my drink I enjoyed a light and delicious scone, a favorite. My friend enjoyed her canolis. It's a real neighborhood place. Great for a break.

Ice cream shop
Melt Ice Cream has been a beloved establishment in Salem since 2009, serving up homemade ice cream crafted from local ingredients. The shop collaborates with local businesses to create unique flavors and toppings, offering a menu of regular and rotating flavors like Minty Blueberry and Goat Cheese with Raspberry Jam. Located in the Bearskin Neck neighborhood overlooking Rockport's Historic Old Harbor, Melt provides a picturesque setting for indulging in their delectable treats.
I always make it a point to visit the local ice cream shops when I am on vacation. I really have to concur with other reviewers when they say that the salted caramel is literally the bomb. It is not only the flavor of the ice cream but the bits of brownie within the ice cream that set it apart from the other flavors I have tried. The atomic coffee was also a favorite from the couple of times I have visited. They have very interesting items to choose from and everything is homemade using local ingredients. They also sell a few souvenir items as well. For the price you pay for a cone with a couple of scoops, you really get your monies worth as it is loaded up. The shop is small, cute and clean and the staff is friendly. If you like good quality ice cream, then this is definitely your place to visit. I will definitely stop in again the next time I am in the area.
Lisa S — Google review
Cute little ice cream shop. They only had 2 dairy free flavors. Coffee and coconut. I’m not a fan of coconut and was hoping they didn’t use coconut milk either so I tried coffee. It was pretty good. Didn’t seem like coconut milk. Was really creamy. I believe there even was grounded up coffee in it? I added half to a coffee I got earlier to make it a coffee float. So good!
Allieya D — Google review
We had the banana Nutella and the salty Oreo peanut butter in a waffle bowl and both were fantastic! Staff were super friendly, too. Lots of outside seating.
Kristin L — Google review
We visited on a Friday in mid-June 2025 for a dessert snack around 1ish. There is public parking lot and street parking. We walked here from a lot. There were very few on street ones. There was also a outside seating area in front of the restaurant that may have been parking at one point. It was a couple that left when we entered. But the whole time no one went in until we left maybe like 15 mins later. Staff was super nice and helpful giving us suggestions. It was very warm inside the shop and they had a make shift AC unit. Wonder if their main AC was broken. There was limited seating inside but informal available outside. It was very warm outside and our shakes were melting really fast. We ordered all frappe/milkshakes: - Salted peanut butter Oreo (classic flavors can’t go wrong here) - Maple Bourbon mixed with atomic coffee 50/50 (my favorite) happy they do 50/50 - Black raspberry chip frozen yogurt (youngest favorite always) - Rose with candied orange (wife liked it, it was eh to me) It seemed a bit on the pricey side but I think this is the going rate these days. I've had much worse $10 milkshakes. The milkshakes were good and they had a good variety of options. Overall I'd come back and order here again if we were in town. There are other food and dessert options around town though so I wouldn't be against trying something else either.

Delicious homemade ice cream on a hot day. Minimal inside seating but great outside sitting. Waffle cones are wonderful, not expensive at all, friendly staff, several flavors. Only gripe… strong spoons lol, not a major issue Highly recommended
Chaz F — Google review
This was one of our first stops in Salem when we visited in early September and I cannot recommend it highly enough. Really impressed with the bright flavors of the GF sorbets, and the full dairy ice cream was incredible. I opted for a scoop of the Salty PB Oreo in a fresh waffle cone- folks, this is the ultimate flavor combo. The ice cream was so good, I didn’t stop eating it when we got pulled over by Salem Police not five minutes after we left with the police officer attempting to have a serious conversation. This ice cream is that delicious. For context, we were stopped because it was raining and the officer stated we were driving a bit too fast for the road we were on. No ticket was issued and the officer very politely bid us a good night while I noisily slurped the remnants of my ice cream.
Shelby H — Google review
This place is amazing! They are extremely knowledgeable about the ingredients in their icecream, making it a safe option for those with food allergies. The icecream is delicious too! I went three times will visiting Salem and each time was pleasantly welcomed by knowledgeable, kind staff happy to help me navigate my soy allergy. It’s also a plus that they have dye-free icecream. I definitely recommend visiting, whether you have a food allergy or not!

SO DELICIOUS the icecream is so soft I highly recommend the Nutella banana that’s what I had. My friend had the salted caramel brownie and she LOVED IT

Patisserie
Coffee shop
Nestled in the charming town of New Salem, MA, Caramel French Patisserie is a must-visit for anyone with a penchant for sweet delights. This delightful patisserie offers an array of options to enjoy their scrumptious desserts—whether you prefer to dine in and soak up the cozy ambiance, grab something to go, or have it delivered right to your door.
As soon as I seen this spot I HAD to make a stop! I’m a huge fan of macaroons and this spot in Salem did not disappoint! They all were very good, tasted fresh and authentic (not those pre made macaroons you pull out of the freezer to sell). The service was great, I found everyone very welcoming and nice even tho the environment was a bit hectic due to Halloween weekend in Salem. If you have a sweet tooth for French pastries and in Salem this is a must for you!
Joa C — Google review
The croissant are perfectly crisp outside and elastic inside, and the pastries taste as good as they look. Definitely worth a visit.
Sirius H — Google review
Macarons are hit or miss.. pumpkin ones were perfect. Light smooth texture on the cake bits, and nice flavorful creamy center. Also tried the raspberry and birthday cake which were just .. ok... Tiramisu was a good mid grade. May hit up another bakery in the area next time.
Jason — Google review
This was by far my favorite place. During my visit to Salem on the weekend before Halloween. Every day that I went I would get the flan, the vanilla eclair is delicious as well. My wife got the pistachio cake. It was good also. This is a must stop but you have to go early because they sell out
Guillermo P — Google review
Cute little shop to pop in and take a break from all of the action on Essex Street…It was recommended by the staff at the Peabody Essex Museum. The raspberry macaron was so delicious! Plus, the staff working here are so kind :))
Aimee — Google review
My wife loves macarons, so after spotting this place we walked across Salem to try it and sit down for a bit. When we arrived, neither employee — including what seemed to be the owner — greeted us. We got our macarons and another dessert, but they were out of baguettes, even though it was only around noon. As we sat, we noticed signs saying “this table closed” or “for paying customers only,” which felt unwelcoming. Later that evening, every table had a sign. If you don’t want to be in the customer service business, don’t open a bakery.
Bradley M — Google review
We ordered 6 desserts: eclair, fruit tart, hazelnut paris brest, s'mores macaron, pumpkin cheesecake, & key lime pie. The hazelnut and key lime pie were the only desserts that got finished. The vanilla custard in the eclair and fruit tart unfortunately tasted like it was made with an expired ingredient. The macaron and cheesecake were dry and the multiple flavors didn't enhance or compliment each other.
Keanne M — Google review
Unfortunately we were told they only had 1 nut free option so we couldn’t try anything :( I’m simply writing this review as maybe a suggestion for a bit more variety since nuts are a very common allergy! Still gave 2 starts for the beautiful looking desserts and cute storefront

The shop offers a variety of drinking chocolate elixirs based on historical sources, including Mayan, Aztec, colonial American, and modern-day concoctions. I live in CT and I took a trip to Salem today (2+hour drive). I stopped in here, got a chocolate drink and of all the places and things I did in Salem all I could think about was the chocolate drink lol I need more chocolate drink😂😂 I’m trying to convince myself driving 2+hours for it is totally fine🤪 Happy to see I can order the “elixir” online to make at home!

The mocha iced coffee was almost like a milkshake and rich, the chocolate was amazing and such a nice little shop. The people working there were pleasant and even offered advice. 10/10.
Jason M — Google review
Stopped in for hot chocolate. Left with wonderful memories. Our kids got scooped up by a gentleman who I assumed to be the owner. He brought them to the back to make some chocolates themselves. Mary also took great care of us in delivering some of the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in my life. Will surely return every time we’re in Salem
David F — Google review
We were able to taste test a few flavors and that was helpful for choosing our preference. Tony was great making suggestions and Jaylene rung us up and was very friendly and efficient. Great place and a must try!

The best chocolate I’ve ever had! 🍫✨ Kakawa’s Frozen Chocolate is so good I had to get a second one! An older lady with long hair kindly recommended it — I usually go for hot, but I’m so glad I tried this. Went all the way to Salem just for two cups on Nov 2. Totally worth it! ❤️

Visited from NJ on halloween, and tried kakawa for the first time. Was not disappointed!!! Even though it was crazy busy Mary made sure we had her full attention and helped us select the perfect treats to take back home and we even scored the cutest mugs! Goodnight Fatty is a popular cookie shop in Salem that has gained a cult-like following. Originally a late-night cookie speakeasy, it has now moved to a storefront near the Salem Witch Museum and offers breakfast chubbies in the morning and small-batch treats throughout the day. The shop is known for its innovative flavors and soft, chewy texture of cookies, including vegan options, as well as cookies served with soft-serve ice cream.
food quality: 5/5 service: n/a - Take Away Only cleanliness: 5/5 value: 5/5 Loved my first experience at Goodnight Fatty! There is a rotating set of cookies each month and each of them look delicious! We got the Campfire and Drumstick fatty and it was still warm and delicious. The staff was nice and the shop was super cute! Can’t wait to go back and try more!
Brittney M — Google review
I was definitely very excited for this place as we missed it last time we were in town. It was a little bit of a let down for me. Others in my party thought they were good but so sweet that half a cookie was enough. One bite was good enough for me. I was not sure what to order, and I don’t feel the employees helped as much as they should have. Very unenthusiastic to say the least. We were there on a Friday, wasn’t too busy, but my excitement quickly died to just an ok place to visit in Salem.
Deb C — Google review
Delicious and unique cookies with a very cool atmosphere. They only offer 3 kinds of cookies at a time but chances are you will want at least one. They are making them right in front of you which is neat. There was a long line but it moved quickly.
Dana K — Google review
Stop here. Just do it!! Sooooo good and fun. The employees are wonderful and the atmosphere is great! And let’s talk the cookies-the BEST! This is definitely a spot to stop in Salem. We sat outside and enjoyed the flight of cookies. Highly recommend!
Melissa L — Google review
Great staff; super fun atmosphere. The cookie is just a fat cookie with a cute little design. Wouldn’t say there’s anything super special about it although it is good. Cool that they offer milk as a drink option. Very nostalgic of childhood milk and cookies and the Count Chocula cookie is “vintage” so to speak.
Ashley F — Google review
Cool concept, who doesn't like warm cookies with milk. They have limited options ( 3 cookie options when we visited). The flavors were unique ( Milky Way, Count Chocula, PB). They didn't have simple plain chocolate chip or sugar cookies. The cookies were average. You can purchase cookie flights! They have a cute courtyard with outside seating (tables and chairs). No vegan options available. They also serve breakfast sandwiches, that smelled great!
Michele F — Google review
Simple, delicious cookies! We loved the three flavors of the week and wish we could’ve tried more. Soft, rich, and perfectly baked — definitely a must-stop when you’re in Salem.
Bradley M — Google review
As one who grew up loving a warm and soft cookie, this place is well worth it. Their flavors are updated every Friday. We had the Oreo, Dubi chocolate, the Twix. I bought the double - 2 of each & have no regrets. Go and enjoy each cookie!

Bar
Ledger Restaurant is an upscale dining spot and bar located in a 19th-century bank building, formerly known as the Salem Savings Bank. Chef-owner Matt O'Neil has created a progressive New England concept that elevates traditional 19th-century dishes, cocktails, and techniques with modern resources. The restaurant's high-style cuisine features artful plating of colorful dishes and creative wood-fired offerings, house-made charcuterie, and raw bar items.
Ledger is a lively, vibrant restaurant with fantastic food and a buzzing atmosphere. Their wine list is excellent - definitely a treat for anyone who enjoys a good bottle. The menu is creative and upscale, with dishes that are both delicious and skillfully executed. Flavors are spot-on, and portions are generous. If you find yourself in Salem, Ledger should absolutely be on your list.

Soooooo good! The food was good, the service was excellent- and best part was the Halloween spirit! We were there during October 25’ and LOVED it! The drinks come with cute spooky decorations, the desert was a graveyard… you understand what I mean. It was all full of good vibes and fun. But the food and drinks were just really good! A super professional bar!!
Dovrat Z — Google review
Went to the ledger while visiting Salem for my partners birthday ! It was a wonderful experience. The food , the drinks , our waitress Emma all exceptional. We went on a Friday in October 25’ and it was busy , but the seating is spaced out perfectly and they got the food out in a very timely manner as well as providing you with water as soon as you are seated and after walking those streets you are tired! The menu is small , but truly has something for everyone. They do the touch of Halloween / Salem PERFECTLY, nothing is lacking in flavor or design.
Masyn W — Google review
This place was so cool. It’s a converted bank into a restaurant. So the decor was really cool. The food was pretty good. We had got a bunch of stuff and shared it all. We shared the cheese board which was amazing we also got extra jam. And then we got the shrimp which had a weird flavor and then we shared the Brussel sprouts and the skirt steak. I thought it was all very good. I got excited that a beer had my name in it only to realize later it was non alcoholic. So that was fun lol We were sat in another section not the main area which I didn’t love but the service was still good
Dawn M — Google review
Definitely the best place we've eaten in Salem. We made reservations a few weeks in advance and came for dinner and brunch. Dinner: The burger and fries were delicious and everything perfectly seasoned. No notes. Devilish Diva was a fun, spicy drink. Brunch: The vegetable hash had a lightly dressed salad and roasted vegetables with sunny side up eggs. Both were great. Check on the daily donut, the fudge glazed was fine, but would pass next time. Overall, would definitely come back.
Keanne M — Google review
The food and drinks were exceptional. I started with the tuna tartare, which was so delicious I glady would have eaten it a second time for my entree. It had just the right amount of spice, excellent flavors, and the taro chips made it a clean dish to eat with clean presentation as shown in the photo. I enjoyed the pork belly starter for my entree, which was a phenomenal combination of flavors and also very well plated. Both starter portions were generous, but manageable. As someone with extensive bartending experience, I must highly recommend the Bruja Morada cocktail. A simple, but incredibly flavorful and well balanced beverage, with only 4 ingredients, counting the orchid that was tastefully used a garnish. My only complaint is that our service felt very rushed, and we repeatedly had to ask for more time, as we were there to enjoy a lovely meal and take our time. That being said, the overall experience was excellent, and I will absolutely visit again.

We chose Ledger for our wedding day not only due to our sentimental connection to Salem, but also because every time we dine there we have found it to be outstanding. Our wedding was no exception. It could not have been more perfect. The entire communication process leading up to the date was clear and especially accommodating. Service and hospitality on the day of was impeccable. We were so impressed with the food and drinks and so were our guests! We are still receiving compliments about how delicious the charcuterie, passed hors d'oeuvres, entrees, desserts, and donuts were. Everyone LOVED the cocktails as well and the space was just perfect. We can't recommend Ledger enough. Photos by Spagnolo Photography

Nice ambiance. But for food that is supposed to be amazing after a 2 hour wait the chicken came out warm and amazing but the side were cold. The jumbo shrimp came on a dish unlike most restaurants that have them on ice in a glass. Wose part is they didnt even check that the shrimp was cleaned well. The pasta dish was cold and the waitress then questioned if maybe you dont like those ingredients.

Amazing coffee. Best chocolate chip cookie I’ve ever had, ever. Generous & perfect avocado & bacon sandwich. Charming & wonderful atmosphere and staff.

14% fee?!!! The sparkling lavender lemonade was tasty. The sandwiches were ok. Service was pretty slow. Prices were steep then an "Administration fee" of 14%!!! What???? Then they expected a tip? 14%?!!! Just because? That's a hard pass for us. We won't return and can't recommend it until they get rid of the junk fee.

We went here twice, once for breakfast and lattes and the second time for lunch. I’m normally not a big sandwich fan but the pressed sandwiches were amazing! Their espresso drinks and baked goods were also great. Clean restroom, friendly people. Please note there’s a 14% charge for the staff automatically added on the total bill. I always tip for good service, but was surprised to see it already on the bill. I support living wages, but also transparency, so I’d recommend the owners post this somewhere more visible (if it’s posted, which I didn’t see).

the variety of made stuff is fine it's one of the best bakeries on the north shore. a question if you put artisan in bake shop. why do you use m&ms candy marshmallow fluff and butterscotch baking chips that is artificial based. there are organic versions way better.

Absolutely delicious! I visited this bakery after seeing it mentioned on Reddit. So glad I did! It was the best Kouign-Amann I’ve had in a while. I even got a second one to go! We also tried the sticky bun, the egg sandwich, and the blueberry galette (which was seasonal and about to be no longer available, so we just had to!). Everything was tasty and obviously made with great skill. The place was super cute and had a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff was delightful and accommodating. The coffee was perfect, too! They were happy to adjust the sweetness to my taste. Would highly recommend if you’re in the Salem area. It’s definitely not touristy. Just wonderful!

Great food and coffee, I understand it may be expensive to run a coffee shop especially in this area. But $6.44 large coffee with an automatic 14% fee on top of taxes is pretty insane. Should be transparent with guests before slipping that onto the check.

Harbor Sweets is a delightful destination for chocolate lovers, especially during the winter season. Their Cocoa Sante hot chocolate line offers four flavors made with natural ingredients, perfect for sipping on a cold day. The Classic Gift Assortment features a nautical theme and includes the iconic Sweet Sloops, which were the first chocolates developed by Harbor Sweets. Additionally, their Salt & Ayre line combines truffles and salted chocolates inspired by Salem's history in the spice trade.
We toured harbor sweets and it was SO much fun! The chocolates are so delicious and the caramel is the best I’ve ever had. Loved this experience!

You can watch the chocolates being made at this glass walled chocolatier. The staff when I visited was lacking in experience and product knowledge, and I was charged $2 each for items labeled $1 each in the case, but still I like the chocolates and the set up

We popped in to see where Harbor Sweets is based. The store is in an old building that looks a bit shabby and there is not a lot of street parking nearby. They have a variety of prepackaged chocolates and a small case of items for custom packing. The chocolates we tried were very good.

Harbor Sweets are my favorite chocolates, especially the dark chocolate sloops. They never disappoint, all of their chocolates are delicious. Their customer service is the best around, Donna takes good care of us.

Harbor Sweets is my favorite chocolate store in the world. I've tried tons of Chocolate in the US, Switzerland and Italy and I have to say that this is the best. They offer a variety of unique chocolates that are all homemade here at their factory/store in small batches. They have big windows so that you can see the chocolate being made. The chocolate is a bit pricey, but totally worth it. If you ever visit Salem this is a must go spot. They sell their chocolate at other locations as well like Shubies in Marblehead and they have an online store. If their chocolate is too pricey for you, you can wait for post-holiday sales where they'll give you ~20-30% off. Try ANY of their chocolates, they're all amazing, I've never had one that I didn't like.

Tucked away in a quiet corner, this place was a pleasant surprise on our list of candy stores to visit in Salem. I highly recommend the Sloops! You can see the candy being made behind the checkout counter while you wait for the kind staff to bag your purchases.

Stopped here to buy a smattering of chocolates on a girls trip. Picked out heaps of options and split all of them 4 ways. The chocolates were hit or miss on flavors for us. The blueberry pie was 5/5. The apple was loved by most. The coconut was 5/5. The sesame was 90% sesame but barely any Carmel binder. Only two of us could even taste the sweetness from the caramel. The crème brûlée was a 1/5. Tasted like I was eating Rose scented soap. My sister spit it out and none of us enjoyed it. I don’t mind a bit of flower flavor but this was overwhelming. The pumpkin with nuts was labeled as a truffle but was a weird gummy texture that our group didn’t enjoy. The store is clean. The staff friendly. The prices are far more than the specialty chocolate shops in town. Figured they were up for the holidays but spent a lot of money for some very hit or miss results.

Tucked away in one of the most charming corners of Salem, MA, this delightful chocolate shop is a true hidden gem. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, inviting aromas and a cozy, welcoming atmosphere. The owner—a kind and knowledgeable woman—is not only a chocolate expert but also a great resource for local sightseeing tips. The selection is incredible, featuring both decadent in-house creations and unique international finds (don’t miss the Dubai chocolate—it’s absolutely to die for!). Whether you’re a local or just visiting, this sweet little shop is a must-see. Bonus: they ship, so you can enjoy their treats long after your visit!

Elephant in the room: yes, this chocolate is quote expensive, but yes, it's worth it. Was tipped off to this place by Karen from Salem Food Tours. The owner is so kind and helpful. The chocolate is delicious and lasts way longer than any big brand because it is so decadent- even those with sweet teeth (me, for sure) don't need more than a couple squares to savor. Highly recommend this. Great place for gifts too!

Me my mom and sis explored New England for two and a half weeks. We’re from Tennessee and drove to Salem for our first brief stay. We stepped in every candy store in Salem and along our journey back south totaling 12 state trip. The Chocolate Pantry in Salem was by far the best. There were sooo many options and the chocolate just glowed; it was beautiful and delicious.I will be having some of this fine chocolate delivered to my Tennessee home. The atmosphere and hospitality were great.

Two of my friends and I stopped by twice this past weekend and had such a great experience each time. The owner was extremely kind and thoughtful. She went out of her way to make us feel at home in Salem, even recommending places we could tour or grab dinner. A heart felt thanks for the A+ service and of course for the superb confectionaries. The blueberry pie and stuffed strawberry cheesecake are indeed bites of happiness.
Greg M — Google review
I had high hopes for this chocolate store, but unfortunately, the experience fell well below expectations. The chocolate with a cupcake/brownie center was notably dry and lacked flavor, while the dark chocolate with pistachios was not only disappointing in taste (tasted like a sugar free version which it was not) but shockingly contained a hair—an unacceptable lapse in hygiene. Overall, the quality and care one expects from a specialty chocolate shop were sorely missing.

Loved this place so much we visited once or twice a day while in town. It stays open till 11 so after we were done at the bars we would go here and get a spiked coffee treat. They have all kinds of nice treats to eat. I got Flan, Baklava, tiramisu it was all good. The dubai chocolate latte was so good! Music was on point each time we went there. Service was friendly and prompt.

After arriving on the ferry from Boston, we needed some caffeine. Walking into town this was one of the first places we came across. The coffee and bagels were good. They do have an outside patio and seating inside. The interior decor is interesting and plays on the witches and scary theme. It was fairly busy when we arrived. However we got our food quickly. This is a good spot to stop and get the flair of Salem.

Nice atmosphere!!! One seat has a nice background and you can take photos. A few seats to sit down and enjoy your coffee. I didn't order any food. However, the Spanish latte was amazing. It was one of the best I've tasted. They also serve boba tea. If you are in the Salem area please stop by and try it.
Nina M — Google review
Maybe they were just having an off day or maybe my expectations were just higher, but I was a bit dissapointed in my visit to Jaho today. I was excited to find a local roastery here in Salem, and expected their coffee culture to be strong because of this, but the person ringing me out did not even know how to describe one of the drinks (Spanish latte) on their menu to me when I asked. Maybe they were new; the barista did explain it to me, but it just made me nervous about ordering because I wasn't sure the workers knew what they were doing. I think sometimes this comes from having too much on the menu. Jaho serves pastries, breakfast food, ice cream, coffee, boba, teas, refreshers, and alcoholic beverages. That's quite a lot for one shop that I thought was supposed to be focused on artisan coffee (that's what their website seems to advertise, at least). I ended up ordering the Oatmeal Cookie iced latte because it sounded interesting, but it was just mediocre. It tasted like a brown sugar latte with oat milk. It was good, don't get me wrong, but there was nothing special about it. I did end up buying two bags of beans, one single-origin and one blend, so I'll see how I like those. The atmosphere of the cafe was cute, but I guess I'm just confused about their concept and wish it were more refined. Update: I did just brew a French Press of their Black Derby signature Costa Rica/Columbia blend and It's delicious! Good to know their beans are still at the heart of this place at least.

I love a coffee shop with several flavored lattes available. This place was behind our hotel, which was a hug plus that we could walk there. Kids ordered a cinnamon roll and a bagel. They both enjoyed their food. The bagel was toasted but still soft for my son to eat. The iced lattes come in one size and were delicious! The oatmeal cookie and almond joy latte are really flavorful and good. The cups the drinks are served in are super cute! Plenty of seating inside and outside
Katie M — Google review
I love Jaho, but I loathed watching the old man owner yelling at the baristas behind the counter because they were throwing out bad food and that they were apparently not doing their job correctly. He was making them cry. The baristas are the reason why I continue to go to Jaho. They know my name and they know my order. To have the owner, a physically large man in a position of power and authority yell so violently aggressive at these college aged girls working a minimum wage job in one of the most expensive areas in the country is disgusting. The baristas were visibly tense and very uncomfortable. All the customers could see it. Jaho markets itself as safe and welcoming environment for all communities, but it is obviously not the case when the baristas aren't even safe. And let's talk about the owner yelling at the baristas because she threw out bad food. I've never seen the owner in all the years I have been going to Jaho, but I see the baristas nearly every day. Who has a better idea about rotten food than the baristas? I eat there often. I do not have a high paying job, it's actually an internship with required hours. I have multiple disabilities. Getting sick doesn't just negatively impact my income, but my health, and career as well. For all the readers, Jaho is a delightful place. The baristas are the kindest people who have ever walked the earth and they are the reason why I continue to go to Jaho. I have never gotten ill and that's because I see the baristas taking care of the place. My concern is not them, evidenced by the owner's tirade about them keeping the place healthy. The owner needs to change. Or at least I hope so much he isn't the owner so he can never step foot into the shop again.

Jolie Tea Company, located in Salem, MA, is a charming and cozy tea shop offering a wide variety of unique teas from around the world. The sunny space provides an elegant setting for high tea or casual cafe time. In addition to serving light lunches and hosting private events, they also offer macaron and tea tastings. With a new location in Beverly as well, Jolie Tea Company follows the Parisian tea salon concept and is known for its extensive selection of loose teas.
I took my sister to Jolie for high tea to celebrate her birthday and it was absolutely perfect! We chose the $48 per person Catherine High Tea and loved every moment. The strawberry mocktail to start was a refreshing treat, and the tea menu was impressively extensive, offering so many unique options to explore. The food was delightful, but the raspberry macaron was a standout—I wish I had taken a few more to go! Afterward, we enjoyed selecting loose leaf tea at the counter, getting to smell and discuss different varieties before bringing some home with us! High tea is a cherished tradition in our family and while we often visit spots in Boston, Jolie in Salem was so wonderful—we'll definitely be returning!

Despite only visiting twice (Oct 2017 & 2019), two cups of the Antoinette tea was enough to make me a smitten, cross-country loyal customer for life! Every order I get is hand packaged with care and absolutely delicious. JTC has such unique flavors that nowhere else I've tried has even come close to. I'm excited to try my most recent purchase from them, their Halloween sampler (and my beloved Antoinette, of course), and intend to order many, MANY more teas in the future 🫖

Absolutely wonderful high tea experience. I was able to be seated earlier than my reservation, they offer gluten free items, the tea selection is very robust, and delicious. Afterwards, I created my own tea blend to bring home with me. Highly recommend making a reservation.
Holly G — Google review
The whole experience was a let down. I had a reservation for the Halloween high tea with blending tea experience. I have an allergy to all nuts, dairy, and gluten; which I know isn’t easy to accommodate but had high hopes with all their dietary restrictions menus online. After reviewing my allergies with the waitress, a different staff informed me that they can’t accommodate all my allergies and that “it’s one or the other”. They offered a free chickpea salad to compensate, which never came. The foods that I could eat was fine but not worth how much the whole “experience” was. The tea experience was pure chaos and their excuse was the main person called out sick. The lady, Marina, was unable to assist us with how to blend our teas and demanded that we pick a base to start. I explained that it’s our first time doing something like this and would love some guidance. Her response was “same”. She couldn’t answer my questions on the difference of teas, and what she would recommend if my goal was a light/ fruity tea. After a painful 45min experience with incorrect labeling, she then tried to push the preblended teas and forced us to pay even though it was included. Overall if you have any allergies be aware. Can’t say I would recommend this place in general

Jolie Tea Company is such a gem in Salem! The atmosphere is warm, elegant, and inviting—perfect for catching up with friends, working quietly, or just enjoying a little self-care time. Their selection of teas is incredible, with unique blends you can’t find anywhere else, and the staff is always knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations. I also love their baked goods and treats, which pair perfectly with the tea. Whether you’re a tea enthusiast or just curious to try something new, Jolie Tea Company is a must-visit spot. Check out this oatmeal peanut butter cream pie. They say everything is bigger in Texas but this cream pie is massive! Beautiful blend of raspberry flavor and subtle breading and crumble texture. This place is a must of you are visiting are just passing by. 8/10 and telling the world!

I love the interior of this space, it would be a great place to work and seemingly has a lot of potential. The food was disappointing, for a bakery I expected the bread to be fresh baked, and it was without a doubt store bought and very dry. I got a “greek salad” which fell short, no feta and hardly any Greek salad ingredients. For a local spot I was hoping for some love in the food here but it seems like there’s some passion missing from some essential part of this establishment.
Sage C — Google review
I'm a local and I wanted to go out to eat for breakfast one day and try some place new. I had a gluten free breakfast sandwich it was $15 for this sandwich which wasn't even that great, the cheese wasn't melted and the bread wasn't heated up at all so it was just a warm egg with cold cheese and room temperature bread. There was a person in their with their dog (the dog was definitely not a service dog and kept wandering around on a long leash to greet customers) unfortunately I'm afraid of dogs so I sat as far possible from the dog and the owner wouldn't pay attention because she was chatting with her friend. I needed a to go container for my drink and I tried to get the hostess attention multiple times but she was playing on her phone at the far end of the counter. Overall I was very disappointed and wouldn't recommend this place based on the quality of the food, price, and lack of general consideration of being a food establishment that allows untrained pets.

Possibly the only reasonably priced lunch place in Salem that I came across during my day trip. The staff was very kind as well. The chili was nothing special, and the sourdough looked and tasted nothing like any sourdough I've ever seen (was probably spiked with commercial yeast), but my expectations aren't high for touristy areas and yours shouldn't be either. My wife loved her danish fwiw. Did I mention it wasn't a ripoff, and the staff weren't jerks?

12:59 p.m. Salem, MA Stopped in just to grab a quick snack and keep walking. Spotted a carrot cupcake wearing a witch hat like it knew what day it was. The worker boxed it up with care, asked if I wanted the receipt. I said no, and she looked at me like she knew something I didn’t. “Well, just in case you need the bathroom, the door code’s on the bottom.” I did. Hours of walking through Halloween-packed Salem had my bladder hanging by a thread. I just didn’t want to bother. The cupcake tasted as good as it looked, and the bathroom was even better. Praise the Receipt.

I stayed in Salem for a few months earlier this year and was lucky enough to have Ziggy's down the street. This was one of my favorite places in Salem! The flavored coffee, the donuts and pastries, the shop itself. It's local, been around for a long time, super fairly priced when it seems like everything else is getting more expensive, and has the most welcoming feel to it. A highlight of my time here was walking to Ziggy's in the morning. They're so incredibly friendly inside. Months later as I'm writing this review, I miss it and wish I could have a Ziggy's donut and a chat right now. If you're ever in Salem, you should definitely stop by, I know I will whenever I'm back.
Hannah D — Google review
This humble little shop currently holds the title of best donuts in my book. Let me make this clear —any donut shop without Boston creme is just not worth it to me, and Ziggy's absolutely nails this flavor. Their raspberry filled is also incredible, which is my other favorite. The jelly is perfect, from texture to taste. The filling for all of their filled donuts generously fills the entirety of the donut. The dough is just the right amount of supple without being too cakey or mushy. The baker's mastery of their craft is evident. FYI donuts are only made Tues-Fri, and on the other days they're open, they sell other well honed pastries. My personal favorite from these is the Boston creme cake. It's an extremely moist cake version of their Boston creme donut. The chocolate frosting on them is heavenly. The lady at the counter is also very kind and helpful. Donut lovers —GO!

Ziggy and Sons was really close to where we were staying, so I walked over to get a handful of doughnuts and pastries, all varieties. We all agree they were delicious—but here is the amazing part, I had one doughnut left, so I put it in a ziplock, threw it in the fridge, and then took it on the plane. THREE days later—this doughnut was still DELICIOUS. It tasted like it was just made. This is a true local, family-run business, which makes the experience even better. It was fun to walk in and hear the locals talking over doughnuts and coffee, like I am sure they do every morning. Highly recommend.

I happened upon this place when I was driving around the area looking for a cup.of coffee. Place is a real neighborhood mom and pop shop. Nothing fancy but donuts were delicious and the talk was great. I can see coming here for a morning coffee and a donut as a regular. I had the plain donut. Very crispy and not too sweet. I came back the next day before I drove home to New Jersey and cleaned them out of their last four plain donuts...a little gem in Salem!

We chose Blue Ribbon because they were the bakery that made my parents' wedding cake. Chris made us a beautiful, delicious cake, in a traditional style, just as we were hoping for! It was so delicious, we couldn't wait a year, and ate the top already! 😊

Got my sister's birthday cake here. It came out beautiful and exactly what I wanted and it was also delicious and that buttercream 😍😍. The owner Chris is also a very amazing guy he was super nice and did my cake for me last minute.. all and all I'm very impressed and will be going there for my cakes from now on.

My family loves Blue Ribbon cakes, and Chris, the owner, is simply a wonderful guy. He is always so accommodating and really goes above and beyond to make sure you get exactly what you want. I like to bake, but when I don't have time or need a cake for a bigger crowd, I will always turn to Blue Ribbon!

Whimsy's Sweet Life is a charming treat shop in Salem, offering a delightful combination of ice cream and chocolate treats. The shop has an upgraded aesthetic with an 'elegantly witchy' vibe, featuring a variety of gifts, jewelry, and home decor. Visitors can indulge in delicious ice cream flavors like Maine Black Bear and S'mores while enjoying the cozy and comfortable ambiance. The friendly owner adds to the welcoming atmosphere, making it a favorite stop for families.
A cute little ice cream shop in downtown Salem. Stopped while touring the local October festivities The staff was super friendly and helpful. The ice cream was phenomenal. Pistachio had actual pistachios in it. Highly recommended.

Whimsy's was one of our favorite discoveries on a recent trip to Salem. The staff is knowledgeable and they have a great range of products. The ice cream is also delicious. Well worth a visit!

There's a gift shop on one side, which had some cute stuff. We didn't end up buying anything there. The other side has ice cream and other sweets. We got a few truffles and an ice cream. They had a special pumpkin spice truffle that was really cute. They were all good, not great, and pretty overpriced. The service wasn't particularly friendly but wasn't terrible. The exploitation of the tragic history of the area and the exploitation of the LGBTQIA+ community and over-the-top performative activism seemed on par with much of the tourist area of the town. It's smart business-wise for profitability and drawing in more tourist business and probably helps them get away with the overcharging. For better or worse, we live in a capitalist society, so it is what it is. Anyway, ultimately, the customer service was meh, and the ice cream and chocolate were overpriced but aesthetic and decent tasting 🤷🏽‍♀️

🍦 Whimsy’s Ice Cream Shop – 26 Front St, Salem, MA 01970 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ On a cold Hallows Eve (41 degrees!), we decided to grab ice cream while waiting for our 8pm tour. BEST. DECISION. EVER. 🎃❄️ This has to be one of the best ice creams we’ve tasted in the entire Massachusetts area—rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. And the portions? Huge and super well-priced. We came here to celebrate my wife’s birthday, and Whimsy’s made it extra special. Salem during Halloween is absolute chaos, but this little shop was a sweet escape. The vibe is cozy, the staff is friendly, and the ice cream is pure magic. Whether you’re braving the haunted streets or just craving something cold and delicious, Whimsy’s is the place to be. Hands down, the best ice cream parlor in town. ✨ Pop Highlights: • 🎃 Eating ice cream in 41° weather = legendary move • 🍨 Generous scoops, fair prices, and unforgettable flavors • 🎂 Perfect spot for a birthday treat (wife approved!) • 🧙 Salem may be wild, but Whimsy’s is worth the stop Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Go visit. Celebrate. Indulge. You’ll leave with a smile, a sugar rush, and the feeling that you just found Salem’s sweetest hidden gem.

Genuinely the nicest people I have ever met in my life. Also, queer, Pagan, and women owned/operated with some authentic and knowledgeable Witches on staff. The service is friendly and top-notch, and the products are very well curated. Every time I visit in October, this shop is a must for all the unique and high-quality items, not to mention delicious chocolate and ice cream! The owner, Alena, is great, and her team is a laugh riot!

Breakfast restaurant
Crave is a charming café located at 101 Lafayette St, Salem, MA. It's known for its amazing breakfast sandwiches and delicious coffee drinks. The cafe offers the option to build your own sandwich, with the steak and eggs sandwich being a popular choice despite being slightly dry. The pastries are also highly recommended, particularly the scone and almond croissant. Visitors praise the cleanliness of the facility and commend the great service provided by friendly staff members.
They open at 7 on Sundays! A lot of places aren't open then so this is a huge plus. But the food and drinks are good too. I had the crave sandwich - it's on some house bread that feels like a flavorful fried biscuit. So good. And the pepper jelly adds a refreshing sweet-spicy burst. I'm not a huge fan of the cheese on the crave but many folks will. It's like a thinner, softer cream cheese with herbs in it. (I forget the name, starts with a B) I just don't care for that kind of cheese and ordered without knowing what it was so I wiped it off and it was still delicious. I had peach black tea that was so good I had to get another one on my way out. The place is a perfect size for this type of restaurant. Lots of bar style seating and 3 tables along a squishy couch-type thingy. There were enough seats that no one had to wait for a seat around 8am on a Sunday. Lastly, the staff was great. There were a lot of people working so food and drinks came fast. And everyone was very smiley and friendly. I recommend it for a quick tasty breakfast and tea/coffee. I'll definitely be back! P. S. The only thing I'm sad about is that we forgot to buy sweets on our way out. The cupcakes with giant piles of frosting looked delicious!
Charli H — Google review
Love the food and the GF cupcakes are a staple for all our Birthdays! The only reason it’s 4 for food is because I ordered a sausage patty with cheese on GF and it came with egg. I did not say no egg so I understand the confusion. I ate it. 😆 delicious. I’ll pay for it later. Totally worth it. :) So allergy peeps just double check your order before taking a bite. ♥️
Jennie S — Google review
Amazing breakfast sandwiches. Hearty, juicy, fresh, flavorful. And you can build your own sandwich. The steak and eggs sandwich we built came out a little dry but it was still a great meal overall. The baked goods are so moist and good. I recommend the scone and the almond croissant. Facility was clean and service was great. Highly recommend for breakfast lovers and those looking for something heartier for breakfast.

This place is great for meetings, one-on-one or small groups. I'm not a coffee person at all but the tater tots and the sandwich with meats and spiced herb ketchup was perfect. Very clean, very friendly and great seating for inside and outside. Be mindful that there can be a lot of traffic, but sometimes there isn't and it helps when having conversations outside

ATMOSPHERE: This place has one of the cleanest and best-smelling bathrooms. FOOD: I got the North shore which is a bacon egg and cheese on croissant. Sandwich was very fresh and filling. I was told that the tater tots are a must have, so I ordered them. Tater tots have no right being this good. Play we're the best tater tots I've ever had. SERVICE: the staff put my food came out in about 10-15 minutes. This place is expensive though. Tater tots and a breakfast sandwich came to $17. But totally worth it.

Visiting Salem from out of town with crohns/celiac- my daughter and I were so excited to find Crave on my GF app. The menu looked amazing and we were excited to go for breakfast. We went by Uber from Salem to Beverly early. Upon entering the restaurant was busy but my daughter was able to grab a seat for us after we ordered. 3 pastries and two lattes. I stood and waited at the end of the counter for our order as I was directed. I received lattes timely. I mentioned that we also had baked goods (that were already prepared and on display at register) I was told they would be ready shortly. I stood waiting for 15 minutes, the crew was busy and ignoring me completely. I brought the lattes to my daughter and got back in line to speak to the cashier as I was waiting the last scone that I had ordered was bagged up for the customer in front of me. I was extremely disappointed and let the employees know that I was waiting approximately a 30 minutes for our order and now the last scone was just sold. I was met with rolled eyes from the cashier and another employee who I am assuming was a manager curtly asked “what name was the order under?” And then sarcastically added “also, why would you wait a half hour before letting us know that you didn’t get your order?” I was floored. I explained I was waiting patiently at the end of the counter as I was directed. He response was, “that’s on you” What?!!!! I was shocked and embarrassed that was the response. No apology. the cashier grabbed one scone and handed it to me. I had ordered three items. “I angrily said that does not complete my order” and pointed out what else I was waiting on. The bags were literally tossed at me. Let me end this with our meal was incredible. I would certainly go back. But not to the Beverly location.

Wow! I wish I took photos because what I ate was delicious! Got the Steak and Eggs and wife tried the crave! Was surprised with the gf bread on the crave but was actually really delicious so was very pleased! It was wild in there they were very busy but everyone was hustling! They did unfortunately make one drink wrong but they did fix it and we're quick on getting it fixed! Would love to go back when it's a less crazy day. Took everything to go.

We actually went to a few in salem and this one had the best atmosphere by far. The Begals here were delicious. I got the jalepeno cheddar with bacon, egg, and cheese. They are so big I could only eat half but it was delightful! They packaged it for me to take for later.

Love Jaho, and really have had great service every time I've been in. Good coffee and food for sure. The physical space is fine, not really my thing decor-wise, I'm more a traditional coffee shop kind of person, like some of the other Jaho locations. Why atmosphere doesn't get a higher rating is really because of the prevalent air freshener smell. I really don't like this trend in any restaurant, bar or coffee shop with the blasting of really strong artificial scent into the air. I want to smell the coffee, the baked goods or food. There are just too many chemical scents around in general. What's wrong with smelling what we're supposed to smell in a place like this? Otherwise, really great on so many levels and love that they have vegan options.

North-shore staple - we usually hit their spot in Salem, but this one has a little more convenient parking. Absolutely amazing breads and treats - and croissants on par with a Parisian bakery.
Glen G — Google review
We’re new to the area and have been enjoying establishing our morning coffee, breakfast, and walk routines. Both A&J locations have been standout favorites — the food and drinks are excellent! The only challenge we’ve encountered is that dogs aren’t allowed inside, even just to step in briefly for a to-go order. We completely understand and respect the health regulations around that. However, neither location currently has a safe spot outside to tie a leash while placing or picking up an order. We’ve noticed the water bowl by the door, which is a nice touch and suggests a dog-friendly spirit — but it’s usually empty and full of dried dirt, so likely not getting much use. We’d love to suggest a small improvement: adding a designated, safe tie-up spot near the entrance. It would make a huge difference for dog owners like us and turn AJ into a truly perfect stop on our morning routine. Thanks so much for considering!

DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE. I live out of state but needed a cake for the following month. I placed my order through email and got a confirmation that my order was scheduled. The day before the event I called to verify my order because the the event wasn’t for me, I was just purchasing the cake. My order was not found and I had to prove that I ordered in advance through email. I confirmed with the owner Ilsa over the 1pm pick up time. She made a weird noise but confirmed. The next day we wanted to give the bakery some time so showed up at 1:20 so we had adequate time time to pick up and deliver the cake. When we get there, a very nice gentleman asked what we were there to pick up. I let him know and his face went white. He tells me that he forgot to make my cake and that he was so sorry. He said the cake itself was done he just had to assemble and decorate and that he could knock it out in 45 minutes. This upset me because not only did I just call and confirm the day before but the birthday party started at 2 pm and now the birthday girl would have no cake at the beginning of her party. 45 minutes later the cakes is still not done, the owner has looked over at us but hasn’t acknowledged the fact that my cake was not done. I ask the man if my cake is done because I have to go. He responds that it is almost done. At this point I am only sticking around because I have a made a commitment to provide the cake for a birthday party that started almost an hour ago. 30 minutes after that, I ask the guy if he is done I have to go and can’t wait any longer. This is when the owner comes over finally and says that he is almost done. I tell her this situation was ridiculous and shouldn’t have happened. She tells me that it wasn’t her, it was the man who took the order she was full with orders. I was confused because I could have sworn it was her business and it has her name on it. I told her it was very unprofessional for her to blame her employee and to not one time acknowledge our presence and apologize while we waited. She said she was busy making cakes. I told her well if they were too busy they shouldn’t have taken my order so that I could find a bakery that was able to complete my order. This woman had the audacity to say that when she made the weird noise on the phone the day before it was because she didn’t know if they could actually finish the cake on time. But instead of voicing this to me she felt that it was too late to tell me. She was super unprofessional/ I finally received my cake and the colors were wrong and it had to be fixed ( more time wasted). She also told me that the man didn’t forget my cake, he just mis-spoke, Ma’am my entire cake is currently being made (He didn’t misspeak). Also the cake had visible holes on the top from where the poles were put into the cakes after the fondant was placed. The holes were covered up with circle pieces of fondant. When the fondant should be the last thing placed so that it is smooth and perfect. When I asked about it, the woman stated that all her cakes look like that on the top. I told her she could at least be honest and not lie after all the time I wasted. I purchased a few cake from her years prior when she was baking at home and NEVER received a cake that looked like that. The owner has obviously ventured into a store front that she can’t handle. She is unprofessional and I will never do business with her and wouldn’t recommend anyone do business with her because of her unprofessional attitude. I’m all about giving second chances but her lack of concern and worry was ridiculous. Also the fact that she blamed the man and threw him under the bus, I’m all set. Finally 2 hours after my initial pick up time and an hour into the party we were finally on our way. To top it off the top layer was dry and the bottom layer was super dense. Terrible. I will say that the man made a mistake and was trying very hard to fix his mistake. I felt for him. Her I blame because I had just talked to her the day before. He did give it to me for free though. DO NOT RECOMMEND, RUN

I've been eager to try this bakery since it took over! I'm so glad i did! We initially went in to get one thing each, and both of us left with a whole lot more than we intended to buy! The pastelitos were so amazingly fresh and delicious, and he made my Mango smoothie with a whole fresh mango! The flan was out of this world, and my friends Caramel Cake tasted like heaven! Even the french fries we got were fantastic! The gentleman who helped us (I'm guessing it was one of the owners) was so incredibly friendly, he definitely made two more local customers! We can't wait to try slices of his other cakes,as well as the other items listed on his menu! Great amount of food for the price as well! All around, a great guy, a great business

Fun place made me feel like a kid again. After a very cool historical ghost tour through the Witch City, Salem, MA, we walked by this sweet shop. Large variety of fantastic sweets, treats, and eats. Lots of gourmet candies that would make great gifts. Attached ice cream parlor serving up a lot of flavors. There's a 'baby' size for getting a taste and bigger sizes if you want a lot or want to try multiple frozen delights. Green Monster (mint Oreo and fudge) and Moose Tracks were my combo. We were lied to. We were told this was the best popcorn in the world. I was raised eating popcorn EVERY night. I’ve never been a fan of buttered popcorn. I like the subtle flavor of popping popcorn in butter without drowning it in butter. I’ve always liked it plain with just salt. I asked for plain so they gave me some. I asked if it was salted. They said no because salt wouldn’t stick because it’s air popped. Air popped popcorn is worthless. I threw it away because it’s tasteless.

The brittle corn is absolutely a must, sweet and creamy, with a great crunch! We also tried the regular buttered popcorn, and it was to die for! Simple, but crave worthy!
Justin L — Google review
One of our must-stop spots when we visit Salem. Friendly staff and delicious popcorn!
Christina L — Google review
Went there to grab a bag of popcorn for someone and my wife asked if it had any dairy. As we were walking away I overheard them talking about her question and laughing :\ Pretty disappointed

Ice cream shop
Dairy Witch Ice Cream is a seasonal walk-up spot that has been around since the 1950s, offering a variety of frozen treats like ice cream, slushies, and mega sundaes in flavors such as peanut butter cup and strawberry shortcake. Despite its unassuming exterior, this small gem is known for its next-level layering of toppings with ice cream. They offer diverse and delicious flavors along with their own homemade waffle cones.
Now, we get to the good places. I have been going here since I was 7, and it was always a fun time when we went to Dairy Witch. It is one of those "teen summer job" places that has a charm to it, plus it was always a surprise when Dad would bring us up to Dairy Witch; it is a good place to go in the summer after swimming in your local watering hole.
Samantha M — Google review
This small spot, though unassuming from the outside, is an ice cream sundae gem for people who can handle their next-level layering of toppings with ice cream. A sundae is $8 (with hard ice cream) or $7 with soft serve, and could easily satisfy two people. Their flavors are diverse and delicious, and they also make their own waffle cones, a worthwhile feature that makes them stand out from other North Shore ice cream establishments. The staff was also incredibly nice, even despite the busy night!
Abigail A — Google review
the reeces sundae has changed my life, thank you. i will never forget this experience, i hope to tell my children about the delicious icecream.
Deven S — Google review
I love their soft serve sundaes and they always have social ones off the menu. Great ice cream stop.
Leah K — Google review
Ice cream is great when they get the order right There’s one employee who always gets it wrong without fail. Noticed it with other customers too.
AUU — Google review
I had the best hot fudge sundae there that I've had in a long time. Yum!!
Robin B — Google review
Even though they are open during the spring and summer time I always make it my mission to go once a year for their great sundaes, love this place!!

Holy Cow Ice Cream Cafe is a must-visit spot in Salem, known for its fantastic service and incredible vibes. Visitors rave about the unique flavors, such as vegan cookie butter and orange cardamom, as well as the option to sample new flavors before making a decision. The cafe also offers fresh-made waffle cones that are highly praised by customers. The quick service allows patrons to enjoy more of the creative ice cream options in one trip.
I am a waffle cone super fan, get one wherever I go. Let me tell you this is the best waffle cone l've ever had and here's why--they make FRESH made to order waffle cones. That's right, you will get a fresh waffle cone every time. Then they put tiny chocolate chips at the bottom which is a fun little surprise. A warm waffle cone on a cold night is hands down my new favorite combo. The ice cream was also delicious. I’ve tried their cookie dough and award winning Ritzy AF which are good. Most recently I tried Boston Blackout and Cereal Milk which were awesome. We went at night when it was chilly so we ate in the car, however they do have tables to sit at. Prices are a little on the higher side but I would consider this gourmet ice cream…
Michelle M — Google review
Stopped here after a fun visit to Salem with my family and it was a nice way to end the day. So many yummy flavors to choose from and plenty of space to hang out and enjoy your sweet treat. Tried to go for the Cereal Milk flavor, but settled on a classic Cookie Dough cup. It was so well made and delicious!
CassMarie B — Google review
Not going to lie..probably the best ice cream I ever had! 10/10. The flavors are plentiful and unique. Amazing freshly made waffle cones. We will be back!
Jonathan C — Google review
Came here on Saturday night, it was quite full but line moved fast. The flavors were AMAZING! I only docked it one star cause although my friend got the same size, my server clearly gave me less. Would’ve loved the same amount since it was so delicious.
Michelle A — Google review
Was nervous to try the vegan options since they have a coconut base. However i tried the cookie butter ice cream and it didn’t not have any coconut hint at all. They only have a few rotating options for vegans . When I went the other vegan flavors were coconut flavored in general so I didn’t go for it. Although I would have loved to try all of them. A flight perhaps.
Allieya D — Google review
Thank you guys for the most delicious, tasty, daring, velvety, flavorful, original and totally addictive ice cream ever! I eat ice cream almost every day and I tend to be very easily bored with most of your competitors who are far from delivering a consistent product as well as innovative flavors. But you have the most unique and impressive flavors! You totally deserve being number one! Please consider keeping the Dubai chocolate & pistachio baklava available a bit longer!!! Keep on experimenting with flavors and textures! Have a great summer 🌸
Virginie P — Google review
Holy Cow is fantastic ice cream, both traditional and vegan! And by traditional, I don't mean traditional flavors. They are super creative in that department! I just recently tried their seasonal Loaded PSL and was floored by it. Chunks of gingersnaps and hunks of chocolate in a PSL flavored base. Definitely a treat! And I suggest you treat yo'self immediately!
Amy R — Google review
I’ve been coming to Holy Cow for a while and really love the ice cream, but lately the portions have been getting a lot smaller and it’s insane to spend almost $10 for the tiniest scoop of ice cream. I got a waffle cone and asked for two scoops and they barely put one full scoop... so disappointing.

Captain Dusty's Ice Cream is a small and simple parlor located in a quaint building. Despite its size, the service is quick and the prices are reasonable for the generous portion sizes. The shop offers a good variety of flavors and an interesting touch with toppings placed both at the bottom and top of the ice cream. Customers can enjoy their treats on benches just outside the shop.
Excellent ice cream establishment. Great assortment of flavors and quick service. I definitely recommend the cookies and cream. Hope this helps!
Matt D — Google review
After checking review I queued in a long line to try their Ice cream. Had a spoon of pumpkin pie without the crust, and blueberry of Main. The pumpkin wasn’t the dominant flavor rather than the cinnamon and the blueberry was more like a bubble gum flavor. It was overly sweet and lack of the full cream flavor. The shop was quirky and what you want from a shop by the sea. Lots of signs and hand writing on the wall. Prices were good but portions were big !!
Hisham A — Google review
The shop is small, but the service was quick. Good prices for the sizes. We definitely got more ice cream for the sizes than we thought we’d get. There was a good variety of flavors. I liked that they put topping on the bottom of the cup as well as the top of the ice cream. It was a nice touch. The workers were nice. There are a couple of benches to sit on just outside the shop.
Jessica L — Google review
Fantastic ice cream served in huge portions! Loved the mint Oreo and coffee heath bar. Service was excellent, though there was only one person working with a line out the door. Worth the wait!
Tim V — Google review
If you love ice cream this is a must visit store (they have 2 locations I believe) but they do their sizes based on volume not scoops so you actually grt your money's worth. Besides the amazing price, the flavors they have and the quality is top notch. The ice cream is thick and creamy and full of flavor. They make their own ice cream and some flavors do get rotated out so if you do find a good flavor it is worth asking if they still have it before you go. My current favorite is the Ginger Ice Cream, it has just enough sweet and creamy to balance out the ginger flavor and ginger bits that are in it. Overall, its a must go to spot for any ice cream lover!
Cody — Google review
The ice cream was good. Prices are on higher side for ice cream. The frappe could of been made thicker it was large cup for $7+ dollars. Soft serve machines only had chocolate ice cream when we went. They take cards.
Michelle — Google review
This place is weird. Its cute, quaint, full of character, but not an impressive quality product and not comfortable. Space, waiting, and parking are not comfortable spaces, poorly labeled, and tight considering the lot size. Workers have been snappy each visit. Coast a mile up the street to the green and white building at the end of the Salem Wllows. The ice cream is creamier and the space is more family friendly.
Tracie B — Google review
Best ice cream I have ever had!! Mississippi mud is my go to and always a quart. This summer I have tried some other places while on vacation or visiting friends locally and all their favs seemed so average since I’m so used to dusty’s. Highly recommend!

Nestled just a stone's throw from the PEM, Jodi Bee Bakes is a delightful vegetarian bakery that has been charming locals since 2013. This cozy spot offers an impressive array of vegan and gluten-free treats that will make you wonder how you ever lived without them! Whether you're in the mood for something sweet or savory, Jodi Bee Bakes has got you covered.
I have been wanting to come here since having to go dairy free for my daughter a few months ago. Finally got there this morning and it didn’t disappoint! Customer service was amazing, everyone was so friendly and helpful. I may have gone overboard but I couldn’t help myself! Everything was delicious and I can’t wait to be back. Pictured: cinnamon roll, assorted cookies (PB, raspberry thumbprint, oatmeal, browned butter chocolate chip), carrot cake Whoopie pie

We got two sandwiches and a coffee cake here. The tofu sandwich was pretty flavorless but the caprese wrap was decent. Really good vegan mozzarella. The coffee cake we got wasn’t cooked all the way through and was battery in the insides

Jodi Bee Bakes has delicious vegan sandwiches and beautiful baked goods. I especially loved the vegan Bee L T. The staff is helpful and sweet. Wonderful experience!

Whole menu is VEGAN!! YEAH! We have come across the Pacific ocean and across the US to enjoy the north east of the US all the way from Wollongong, Australia and we will be singing the praises of Jodi Bee Bakes when we return home! If you're not vegan, try the beyond meatball sub! You'll have your socks rocked and you'll have preconceived notions of vegan food being bland blown out of the water. If you're vegan, you'll appreciate all the options you have. Definitely come and keep businesses like this running. A+ Great service. Great food.

Amazing gluten free options! I have been celiac for a few years and even if you can find options they are limited but this place is so great. I was able to get a thumbprint cookie (which I ate before the picture was taken!), a lavender cookie, 2 scones, carrot cake and a breakfast sandwich on house made GF bread! Thank you so much Jodi Bee for catering to my kind of people. Yummy!
Imry D — Google review
So happy we stumbled upon this place. Had a really nice selection of vegan choices. Great soups, sandwiches and baked goods. Clean, bright, very nice. Centrally located in Salem. Definitely pricey but very good food.
Bo S — Google review
I had a delicious lentil soup and gluten-free sandwich, followed by half of an enormous whopie. It was so good to find a yummy GF safe place to eat.

OMG this place is AMAZING. We had multiple gluten free, dairy free whoopie pies. They were perfection. The pumpkin with maple filling was out of this world. Cookie…all of it AWESOME! Thank you for being in Salem so we could enjoy these awesome treats.
