Worcester Cathedral, a Norman-era and Gothic place of worship for the Church of England, is home to the tomb of King John and a tower with 235 steps. The cathedral's education department offers educational experiences to over 6,000 children annually. The Dean and Chapter's vision led to the conservation and public use of a 12th-century former monastic refectory cellar, now serving as an innovative education center.
Lovely cathedral. Beautiful stained glass and vaulted ceiling. As a non religious person it was very interesting, fascinating history and peaceful atmosphere. Would have liked to spend a bit more time there but sadly it wasn't overly pram friendly. (Baby asleep). Nevertheless it was a fantastic visit.

Beautiful cathedral to visit, quite breathtaking in parts. Free entry (suggested donation £7). Lots to see and a lovely comfy cafe also. Outside is a bit scruffy but not helped by the dry weather I suspect. You can climb the tower but only on guided tours. Really enjoyed my visit there.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Absolutely stunning! The setting by the River Severn is beautiful, and the cathedral’s architecture is breathtaking. Even just walking around the grounds feels peaceful and full of history. A real gem in Worcester!
Peter M — Google review
The nave is very beautiful with spectacular stained glass and vaulted ceiling. See the tombs of King John and Prince Arthur. We liked St George's Chapel dedicated to the Worcestershire Regiment. As a non religious person it was still interesting and there is a peaceful atmosphere.
Lighthouse C — Google review
Great place to see. Another incredible Cathedral. The tomb of King John is here along with Arthur eldest son of Henry vii. Fantastic stained glass windows.
Eric J — Google review
Fabulous Cathedral. A "must visit" on your tour. Free but donations welcomed to keep the building in good shape.
Nick H — Google review
Worcester Cathedral is truly breathtaking. Peaceful, full of history, and architecturally stunning. A perfect place to reflect, admire beautiful details, and enjoy a quiet moment. Definitely worth a visit!

Fabulous experience and well worth spending a couple of hours regardless of your religious beliefs (or none) Highlights are the Jesus chapel and the tombs of King John and Prince Arthur. Good to help out by swiping a donation if you can. Huge shout out to Alec who is a very engaging chap - Stand Firm 🌟

Nature & Parks
Parks
Worcester Woods Country Park is a fantastic destination for nature lovers and families. It offers a range of amenities including a visitor centre, cafe, play area, walking trails, and picnic spots. The park is easily accessible by car or public transport and provides free parking. Visitors can enjoy various walking routes through ancient woodlands and meadows adorned with wildflowers. Additionally, the park connects to the Worcester Riverside Walk along the Severn, providing an opportunity for a scenic stroll from Worcester Cathedral.
Car park is big enough to park fairly easily in the week, and it's free as long as you are using the Country Park or the Cafe. There is a clear warning at the entrance it's not for Council or Hospital users. They are using ANPR to enforce. This place is a fantastic place to walk your dog, but a caveat if have a canine reactive dog... you should be aware that there are some dog owners who have no recall of their off lead dogs and they will end up coming into your dogs space. This becomes a problem with "pinch points" like kissing gates or narrow footpaths, but once you get into the open spaces, it's much more manageable to keep out of their way. There are dog poo bins around, but are few and far between, which is understandable. There is a cafe near the car park, but I didn't use it, but they allow dogs and inside and outside, but dogs inside need to be quiet and well behaved.
David W — Google review
Really nice park with lots of open space. The parking is free too which is a bonus. There is a kids play area and some inflatables too. Lovely dog friendly cafe. We didn't go inside we ordered outside and sat at the picnic tables. It's a great place to wander in all weather's. The woods are quite sheltered and there are meadows and fields to.
Shazzy M — Google review
Amazing family friendly park in Worcester! Lots of parking and play area for the kids. Good for dog walking
Terry C — Google review
Need wellies to explore the muddy fields and woodland. Nice café. Bike track. County hall lakes pretty with many waterbirds..The paths to and along these are paved, not muddy.
A A — Google review
Lovely park with loads walk options and big playground. There's a cafe for refreshments. Super dog friendly. Free parking, but can be busy and hard to find space
Yaran L — Google review
Great place for a walk, loads of space, lots of walking routes so easy to avoid people if that's what you want. Car park is big with lots of spaces, if parking on a weekday morning they check you are there to use the woods and not parking there to commute but the car parking is free. Also have a cafe and toilets.
Francine W — Google review
A flying first visit, but such a gem to have this on the doorstep. Cafe looked lovely with fabulous selection of cake, other foods and drinks. The park area is great, very spacious. Plenty of space for a picnic and lots of benches. Great open space to take a football or rounders set. Also fantastic that the car park is free.
Charlotte W — Google review
A great place to stop off on a long journey - especially with dogs. Had a lovely sandwich and drink. Dogs were welcome in the cafe which is a huge bonus and staff were friendly and helpful. A nice place for us and the dogs to stretch our legs in the woods - just a shame it was pouring with rain!

Greyfriars House and Garden, a National Trust property since 1966, is a timbered medieval merchant's house located in Worcester. The Grade I listed building dates back to 1485 and was originally built for the High Bailiff of Worcester. The house features cantilevered half-timbering and delicate carvings on the gables, showcasing affluence from early Tudor times.
What a lovely gem in the middle of Worcester. If you don't want to do the tour of the house (which is very interesting trip in time) just going to the cafe and experiencing the garden is a lovely opportunity in itself.
Beka O — Google review
Office for tickets is opposite the entrance of Greyfriars. There is a tour at 11.30 that we went on that lasts approx 1 hour. On the app it says 11am so unsure which is correct. Tour was informative and you have time to wonder. There is a small garden and lovely cafe there. There is toilet facilities but non for babies or disabled toilets. We left pram downstairs and had baby in carrier as there is stairs to climb in the house.
Khaleda Q — Google review
Very interesting house. Guided tour needs to be booked. The history will surprise you
Roly ( — Google review
Only guided tour round the building and we were too late as the last tour was full. We did get to look in the garden where a gentleman volunteer gave us a short talk about the garden and the cottages that used to be there. Very informative and interesting. As we couldn't visit today we shall come back but try to book before setting out.
Susan B — Google review
We had a very interesting guided tour around Greyfriars. The history of the building and the families who lived there was very interesting. Well worth a visit. A lovely garden in the cente of Worcester and a cafe. Very informative guide.
Clare — Google review
small home in Worcester city centre, it's amazing it's actually survived, owned by the national trust, part of the February history weekend Tudor reenactors. Well worth a visit , cafe on site & beautiful gardens out back. Check website for prices /opening.
Hayley E — Google review
A very knowledgeable lady gave us a fascinating tour of the house today. I think the stories of how the house was saved and the people who made it their lives work to ensure its survival are so important. The garden is also a lovely place to have lunch and relax and so quiet - a little oasis in a busy town highly recommend

The Museum of Royal Worcester offers a captivating journey through the history of Worcester porcelain, showcasing galleries featuring Georgian and Victorian ceramics. The museum delves into the city's rich legacy of workmanship, encapsulating 250 years of history and highlighting the remarkable workforce behind Royal Worcester. Visitors can marvel at the exquisite creations crafted by skilled artisans, gain insights into industrial techniques, and learn about the factory community and renowned customers. The museum also sheds light on Worcester's porcelain industry origins in 1751 under Dr.
My arts society group visited in November. Our coach was able to park right outside and we were warmly greeted on arrival. After tea and biscuits we had an excellent talk by Colin Millett, a collector of Royal Worcester porcelain. He gave a brief history of the industry in Worcester and brought to life the characters and rivalries of those who worked there. We then took our time to visit the museum which was well laid out and illuminated the development of Royal Worcester porcelain. The displays were excellent and there were many beautiful pieces to be enjoyed. Personally I was never very interested in porcelain but came away with new insights and enthusiasm for the subject. I will definitely visit again and would recommend the museum for group and individual visits.
Rob E — Google review
Had been meaning to visit this museum for a while and had the opportunity for a short visit on our way home. Well worth the stop. Things to consider - when you buy your ticket, make sure that you say that you’ll be coming back again as the ticket allows you to come back again, anytime within the year at no extra cost. The museum if over two floors and there’s a free audio tour. I would have given the museum five stars however I felt that the audio tour was quite confusing and the numbers were difficult to find. That said, it was well informed and there was lots to see and learn. All in all an excellent day out.
JACKIE W — Google review
Excellent museum, very informative about the history of Worcester pottery, and lots of lovely examples. The audio handset is worth using.
Michael C — Google review
I really enjoyed visiting this museum, the staff members were wonderful and gave us some great ideas to explore. Definitely worth a visit and would certainly recommend going. 👍🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Malcolm P — Google review
I hadn’t realised just how stunning and complex porcelain could be until we visited the museum. Found the audio guide very useful, especially as one can pick and choose commentaries rather than having to slavishly follow a sequence. My main reason for writing this review, though, is to praise the staff, especially a lady called Mary. Without wishing to embarrass anyone, it isn’t often that one visits a venue and afterwards think that you will remember the help given (to a slightly stressed elderly couple) for a long time afterwards.
John J — Google review
A thoroughly pleasing experience. Excellent staff, wonderfully welcoming. Could spend upwards of 2-3 hours wandering through a superb display of the glory years of Worcester porcelain. Very good range in the shop. Would recommend even to those without a previous interest in such a subject.
Daniel S — Google review
Very interesting day out learning all about history of pottery in UK. Great displays, interactive ones for children and explorers packs to borrow but not well checked as lots of items were missing. Audio guide was essential as most info would be missing without it
Mrs H — Google review
If you love your Royal Worcester China then this is the place for you Don't worry the only place you'd get to break anything is in the shop everything else is secured in display cabinets apart from the main reception/ ticket area Remember to look out for the cats Children get to also make there own by coloring in pottery blanks which get placed in the kiln and can be collected / posted once done such a great idea Make a great gift for a special person

Tudor House Museum in Worcester is a well-preserved 16th-century timber-framed building that offers an authentic look into the lives of residents during the Tudor period. The museum showcases the history of the city and its various uses over time, including as a weavers' compound, a tavern, and even a Victorian coffee house owned by Richard Cadbury. Visitors can explore hands-on exhibits and learn about Tudor weaving and brewing while enjoying a warm welcome and access to a coffee shop.
One of Worcester's hidden gems. Great little museum and free! Lovely coffee shop inside too.

A fascinating insight into the people who lived in the house through the centuries, and the history of the house itself (and it's not all good!). The museum is free to enter, and the staff are friendly and helpful. Allow about an hour or so to wander through the rooms. You might want to couple this visit with a visit to the National Trust's "Greyfriars House" along the road. Note that the "Tudor House" does shut for school parties to visit, so check their website before visiting.

Small but beautifully organised displays. Good informative captions throughout. The introduction from the volunteer guide was very welcome.

Wonderful free museum in Worcester, not far from forgate railway station. donations are welcome but it's free to enter, cafe in the grounds/toilets, lifts to upper floors , disabled friendly. Brilliant small local museum run by the local city council. History events during the year, February part of Worcester history weekend.

Beautifully restored. Most helpful and kindest volunteers esp. The gentleman running the children workshops over summer. Tea room is quaint with best homemade food. All the activities were a hit with the kids.

We called into this place this morning for a pot of tea and a cake/tea cake and as always it was top quality and served with a smile 😃 🫖☕️☕️🍰😋we had the pleasure of speaking to Dave(volunteer/ employee) about how great the place is and how we both enjoyed being able to see and history and brilliant building in the heart of wonderful Worcester 😀 👍👏

The Commandery is a fascinating war museum located in the grand 15th-century timber-framed building that served as Charles II's headquarters during the Battle of Worcester in 1651. Originally constructed in 1085 and later restored, this historic site offers vivid reconstructions of six selected periods of the city's history. The building has seen power struggles, war, wealth, and romance unfold within its walls over the centuries.
During a very cultural day spent in Worcester (see my other reviews for the cathedral and gallery) I made this my third dose of history. I was really surprised at the scale of this museum. Entering from the main road I thought it would be a compact place but no, it's a big'un! Give yourself around 90 minutes to two hours at least to make your way around here to get the best experience. My advice would also be to listen carefully when you're advised on the best route to take and to use the plan provided. Maybe it was down to me not paying close enough attention to either of these or simply because I'm a bit of a prat but I did get lost and ended up doing a few laps. On the plus side I got more of an opportunity to take everything in (including a death mask; keep a lookout for that). One of the rooms in particular is allegedly haunted but as I stood alone there, with my eyes closed, the only sounds and feelings were my rumbling stomach (I was a tad hungry by this point). Never mind. Lots to learn and experience here. The historical trail you follow - at least twice in my case - is very interesting. It's a brilliant museum and I thoroughly recommend it.
Jake C — Google review
The Commandery in Worcester is a site of profound historical significance. Notably, it served as the Royalist headquarters during the decisive Battle of Worcester, in 1651, the final clash of the English Civil War. This rich history is palpable as you explore the building's ancient, uneven, and rarely square, halls and rooms. The £9 entry fee is reasonable, considering the depth of history on offer. However, the experience could be enhanced with more engaging and interactive elements. The current use of digital technology is limited, which may be due to funding constraints. Incorporating more interactive displays or multimedia presentations could bring the stories of The Commandery to life more vividly. The gardens, while offering a peaceful retreat, appear to be in need some attention. Regular maintenance and perhaps some interpretive signage could transform them into a more integral part of the visitor experience, I think. The absence of a substantial gift shop is noticeable. A better-stocked shop with souvenirs and educational materials could enhance the visit and provide additional support for the site's upkeep. I think also, that this should be relocated from the 'behind the counter' offering at the entrance to the exit - since people are more inclined to part with their money for souvenirs only if they've had a good time on the tour and definitely not immediately before. The on-site café, though cozy, has a limited menu. I imagine summertimes here must be chaotic. Expanding the offerings and the space, could make it a more appealing spot for visitors to relax and reflect on their tour. The unique location, next to a narrow boat canal and charming lanes, speaks volumes to the potential. Look, the Commandery offers a valuable glimpse into a pivotal chapter of English history. One that resonates even today, since it pitted countryman against countryman. With some enhancements in interactivity, garden maintenance, retail options, and café services, it has the potential to provide an even more enriching experience for old and young. So, if you're in the area, why not stop by for a spell - it was good enough for both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, it surely has to be good enough for you. No doubt you will warmly welcomed, as were they. More importantly, your visit will help fill the coffers and keep this treasure about, for generations to come.
Clay J — Google review
Fascinating and very spooky this museum is perfect for a soggy summer morning and it's really easy to get a feel for the different eras of the building. The staff are welcoming and helpful and the curation is easy to understand and sympathetic. The garden is lovely and the café is great too. My camera started taking pictures on its own in one room. What fun.
Lighthouse C — Google review
Fascinating because this ancient building has been used in so many ways down the centuries, and you get a glimpse of each. Medieval hospital with paintings of saints who might help your illness, though how poor Thomas Becket could help after having his brain hacked open I don't know. Huge beautiful medieval Hall, merchant domestic dwellings, lots about the English Civil War, and a journey made by the first two presidents of America to visit the home of Freedom from tyranny!! Eg Charles 1 having his head cut off. Is there a theme here?! Georgian rooms with costumes. There was later a Victorian school for the blind, and in recent times, a print works. Lots to see, quite a confusing site, but staff are helpful. Pretty gardens and nice little cafe by the river. Paid entrance, but we thought our money was well spent. Good for kids. Ask staff if you have a wheelchair or mobility difficulties - they can help you avoid the cobbles!
Catherine M — Google review
A fascinating walk through time over several hundred years. Focused on the English Civil War, as it was the Royalist HQ for their last stand, but the Commandery is much more than that. Highly recommended
Nick N — Google review
If you are a history enthusiast, a fan of model villages, just out for a stroll or curious to know about things then The Commandery will have everything to delight you, apart from a model village. You can't park right outside unless you go there by boat but you can park nearby, sometimes. I went there on a school trip once and I thought it was quite good. Plenty of old pictures and wooden stuff. The only things I would change are, I'd have a rollercoaster and a haunted house there. I guarantee greater visitor numbers. A model village wouldnt do any harm. Or even a maze, like they have at Warwick Castle. I'd also change the tribute on either side of Sidbury Bridge. I appreciate that "they" say that the Victor writes the history but what they have is Parliamentary infantry on both sides of the bridge. Casual tourists and more serious tourists could be forgiven for thinking "So...did the Roundheads, fight the Roundheads at the battle of Worcester"? Honestly, I wasn't actually there at the time but I have it on good authority that the Roundheads actually fought against the Loyalists. It seems absurd that the soldiers loyal to King Charles 2nd (Team Worcester) aren't actually represented in the tribute. So yeah, it's worth a visit. totally but throw in a rollercoaster, a log flume, a haunted house, a maze and a model village and the crowds will flock to the Commandery. Oh, also don't forget to add some Loyalist soldiers. I had an idea. In quiter periods, to encourage visitors, you could get the staff to wander around Worcester singing the following tune, (To the tune of Karma Chameleon by Culture Club) Comma comma comma comma comma Commandery.... It's in Sidbury It's in Sidbury If only if only they had a maze Then it'd make your day And be really ace Well worth a gaze They got some they've got some really really old stuff And more old stuff From when times were tough You can go there on a Monday, a Tuesday and Wednesday too I went there with my school and time just flew, time just flew It's open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday too If you don't go, then you'll feel blue It might even be open on Sunday and bank holiday But not Christmas Day To my dismay Comma comma comma comma comma Commandery Oliver Cromwell came and he was very unkind King Charles hid in a tree and Cromwell couldn't find him until Autumn when the leaves fell down He made us frown when he took his crown Ooooh Comma comma comma comma comma Commandery It's where soldiers were based No time to waste So pack your case And make some haste

An absolutely superb place, brimming with history. The building alone is amazing, did a paranormal investigation, a massive thank you, to the two ladies who are staff and stayed with us till the very late/early finish, apologies I've forgot your names, but we appreciate you and your time. Interested in the paranormal or history, go check out this place, its a must see if you visit Worcester 🙏🌞

This museum could have been better in several ways. Lights are not enough for spesific items. You don’t know which way to go, some signs are needed in each room to direct you to the right direction. In museum shop they can have more option to sell. The museum is a bit messy and things could have been tidied and been displayed much better. We came from another city, there has not been tourists around. Seems like local people go to enjoy some time. Also I parked my car in the car park as the map took me there and there was not any warning sign that we were not allowed to park. The receptionist told me when I asked her. So I had to go out, and find parking in some paid car park.

The Guildhall Worcester, designed by Thomas White, is a remarkable Queen Anne building with statues of Charles and Charles II at the entrance. The historical significance of the city is reflected in its architecture and decor. Visitors can explore the Grand Italianate styled Assembly room with its portrait collection. Additionally, six rooms are available for hire to accommodate various events. The building's Classical Queen Anne style features ornate details like reliefs and sculptures that adorn the facade.
Lovely place with a lot of fascinating things to see, including some really interesting portraits and a piano owned by Edward Elgar. The gentleman at the door was extremely lovely, helpful and interesting and added so much to our short visit by telling us some of the secrets of the building - I can't commend him highly enough!
Ian C — Google review
First time visitor. Located in the main city centre. Free entrance. There was a free exhibition on Sir Edward Elgar in one of the rooms with videos and various displays on Worcester's favourite son. There is one large main hall with toilets facilities in the first floor. The rest of the venue looks off-limits to the public. There is several display cases but not much else on display. Worth a quick visit in Worcester.

This building is a secret gem in the heart of Worcester. We stumbled upon it on a random adventure through Worcester. The building is full of social and political history, and many original features remain. The ceiling art work on the first floor is stunning. It is well kept and clean throughout. A special mention to the staff who went above and beyond to answer our questions and show us around.

Worcester guildhall built during the reign of queen Anne to replace a black n white building, was used as a court room where there are cells. Upstairs was for the council meetings. Lots of portraits of former mayors/ monarchs. Events held all year check website, free entry, toilets on 2 floors. Part of the February Worcester living history weekend.

Here on a day trip. The Guildhall is just amazing. The outside is a piece of art in itself. Spend some time enjoying the intricate work. Had a lovely walk around the beautiful rooms, also with fantastic artwork, paintings etc. The many original features are exquisite and free entry.

WoW stunning building rich in history ,built during the Georgian era reign of queen Anne.As it was a court there are cells. Lots of portraits of former mayors/ monarchs and timeliness right upto current day. Fuction rooms can be hired. You can peacefully look round alone but staff are on ground floor to the right in offices if require assistance. It truly shows the loss of design we have lost into today's builds. Thank you for such a fabulous time.

Gheluvelt Park, located in Barbourne, Worcester, is a serene and picturesque WWI memorial park. It was established to honor the soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War. The park features a tranquil duck pond and a charming bandstand where weekend concerts and events take place. Visitors can also explore an old-fashioned grotto built into the rock face by William Morris in 1857.
Huge playground for kids. Good for morning walks. Clean and tidy place.

Went to see the new kapax bridge , in the park , the park grounds as of April were still under construction, but it's a lovely way to get from one side of Worcester to the other , the path near the river is still a rough foot path through the woods not suitable for wheelchairs, also likely to be very wet and muddy if it's raining or has been . , the park is one of the best equipped in Worcester tennis court ping pong table splash pad , normally an ice cream van if nice weather, parking can be a pain, soon to be a coffee shop , well worth a visit any age ww2 memorial is a must see just to understand how the art install lays out a very scary thought, enjoy.

Lovely park, well maintained, and a variety of interesting trees. Lovely to see so many ducks. Nice big play area for children, a stream running around the perimeter, and a fantastic cafe. Parking in the vicinity can be tricky and the small car park has a height restriction.

Lovely park though much of it closed off while work is being carried out.

Splashpad is quite unsafe compared the other ones in Worcestershire. Saw loads of kids slipping & sliding on the "rocks". Of course parents are suppose to be watching but even as an adult I found the rocks a bit risky Main park its self is ok, be great to see it updated & modernised. Making it more similar to recreation park in stratfors upon avon. That one is fantastic. Got the ducks in the pond & a lovely walk with exercise equipment scattered about. Parking is hideous

Located in a Victorian-era brick building, Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum offers a diverse range of exhibits and activities. The museum's permanent displays showcase the history of Worcester through local artifacts and stories. One notable exhibit is 'Fifty Objects Fifty Stories,' curated by Garston Philipps, featuring intriguing items like a large porcelain candelabra and a cow hair ball.
I had a great time looking around this museum and gallery on a sunny day in this lovely city. Granted there were maintenance works taking place at the time of my visit but this was OK. Places obviously need a bit of work doing from time to time so I was just happy they were open in the meantime, even if there was less to see than usual. There's an extensive exhibition on the military history of Worcester and how this has evolved over time. I also enjoyed seeing the works of Henry Harris Lines. Well worth visiting!

Charming museum near Worcester train station. The museum building itself is a superb example of British masonry. Although the selection is small it is well kept and enjoyable. A small arms selection really makes the visit worth it. Within the museum is also a bright cafe with spacious seating. Decently recommended for a short visit.
CityStrider — Google review
I’m a bit unsure how to start my review, there were some areas of the museum that I really enjoyed, mostly the taxidermy animals, and the Worcester Pictures, as well as the coin collection that was found in 2019. I was happy to have a look in the first and second rooms, there was also a regiment section, although not of interest in much detail for me, it was very informative and seemed well laid out. Unfortunately, the Art Gallery appeared closed, which was disappointing for me. I had a look in the giftshop and although there didn’t seem to be a lot of choice, the magnets and bookmarks I found slightly disappointing as they didn’t say Worcester Museum on them, but were of I assume a picture in the Art Gallery which I had not seen. I will be doing a return visit to see if this was a one off, and hopefully I will try and look at an exhibition next time. On the upside, free entry, a lovely little café and loved to see Albert the Albatross again. Haven't been in this building since I did work experience in what would have been the old library. My trip lasted 20 minutes.

Currently includes a 1990s exhibition: music, movies, technology, cultural icons. Warning though - it may make you feel very old! Lots more to see though, including the strikingly colourful art of Jilly Oxlade-Arnott. My visit was worth it for this artist's work alone

A free museum, let's have a look. What a great museum, very informative , organised and well kept. A 90s exhibition is on till September, there you have to pay but it's only £2.50. My friend didn't want to see it so I'll be back with my family it looks fun. I read about their café being worth a visit, it sure was. Toasted teacake with bacon? Why not, yes please, yummmmmmm

Free entry. It is a very interesting museum covering many subjects through exhibitions. Will you like it? I believe it has something for all the family. It is well worth the visit. Access for disability, toilets, and a lovely cafe. Many stories come alive in this museum. It is quite stirring. Really enjoyed it. It is close to the town centre.

Had a wonderful morning. The artwork on show was lovely but I was very impressed with the information that had been put together to narrate each piece. It brought the artwork alive and helped to link it all together in a story that added depth to the exhibition. I had a thoroughly enjoyable time.

The Infirmary Museum, located at the University of Worcester's City Campus, is housed in a beautiful Georgian building that served as the Worcester Royal Infirmary from 1771 to 2002. This historic healthcare facility holds significance in British medical history, having hosted the first meeting of the future British Medical Association in 1832.
We discovered this hidden gem when out of town visitors came and we were looking for somewhere to take them. One is a nurse. The tour by the museum curator was so interesting and we learned things we never knew about Worcester, the history of the British Medical Association and early forms of medicine.

My husband & I visited for sparkling afternoon tea 16/5. What a glorious day we had by the river Severn. Afternoon tea was magnificent, the best we've ever had. Lovely sandwiches & freshly baked cakes . Home made sausage roll slice was a nice touch. Staff were friendly+ attentive. We'll definitely be back. Well-done 👍🏼

Very delightful couple of nights spent here. Breakfast was good with excellent choices as was the evening meal and lunch. Our waitress Millie was extremely friendly, efficient and very attentive. Would certainly recommend this hotel. If there was one comment it would be that we had room 15 which was next to the door leading outside and was noisy when it shut, especially at night - perhaps as a suggestion, a slow close door would be better here.

Highly recommend this place. Really nice hotel and a great location for which to explore Worcester City from (under 15 min walk to most places). Dinner and Breakfast were both exceptional. Seating area by river is perfect and sunset drops there too. Staff were attentive and friendly. Room was nice and clean. It was Saturday night and there was a Wedding at the hotel. Car park busy. Music was loud(ish) until about 10.00-10.30pm. Not a major problem but for those wanting more quiet, check first. Car park can be tight to maneuver through. Doesn't help half the cars are large SUVs overhanging spaces. Not hotels fault, but given that i would recommend they reconfigure some of the spaces at the entrance. Was tough to squeeze through.

This is a really nice hotel near the centre of Worcester and right on the river. It has really nice rooms - the TV could be bigger and better placed - with comfortable bed and pillows. The breakfast choice and quality was excellent. They have indoor and, extensive, outdoor seating. We had dinner, the food was really good. I'll happily return to this lovely historic hotel with lovely staff.

This is a hotel on the centre if Worcester next to the river and near the cathedral. The staff were friendly and the room was clean with a comfortable bed. The breakfast was generous. My only issue was that the room was very hot during a heatwave. There is no air conditioning and this is an old building which whilst attractive is a product of its time. If housekeeping had pulled the curtains to keep out some of the heat this could have made a difference.
Nick P — Google review
An absolute waste of money to stay at this hotel. The service and staff were so disrespectful. The value for money is not worth it. You can find more respect and service at a premier inn which is close by. The room was so outdated and hot and no room to even walk around the bed. The use of actual keys is so old and difficult as you need them to open up so many doors before you get to your room. The location is absolutely so difficult to find and don't get me started on the parking, absolutely terrible. It's not worth the price so find somewhere else which is superior in value and customer service. Would not recommend it!!

In Worcester, England, there is a striking bronze statue of the renowned composer Sir Edward Elgar. The sculpture depicts him in his doctoral robes, seated on a bench with a pencil and score paper in hand. This iconic landmark is located in the heart of the city and is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. Visitors can combine their love of music with visits to historic landmarks such as the nearby Elgar Birthplace Museum.
Often adorned with a cone for a hat or covered in bird excrement, all in Worcester know the Elgar statue. Meeting place for youths, stopping place for buses and a myriad of other things I'm sure. Used to get free WiFi from the Christian bookshop nearby as well but it closed down.

A modestly larger than life statue of one of the country's foremost composers, located in a prominent position on the city square, facing Worcester Cathedral, with which he had long and close connections. There is a brass plaque in the pavement in front of the statue, detailing his career and local connections. Inside the cathedral, there is a memorial window to him, based on scenes in The Dream of Gerontius, one of his most famous works.

Attended my first ever Flatworld gig here last night. What a venue! What a performance. "Other bands tell jokes between songs, we tune our instruments" Does an oboe need retuning? 😉 The band really opened my mind regarding Mediterranean and eastern European folk/rock/pop. And I now know several things you can do with an aubergine 🍆, provided you have lots of wine. The band were all great, but their oboeist is special. The Baroque venue has an ambiance all of its own. I'm sure I'll be back.

Fort Royal Park, located in Worcester, England, is a picturesque green space that provides breathtaking panoramic vistas and a tranquil ambiance. It boasts historical significance as the site of the Battle of Worcester, the final clash of the English Civil War. Visitors can explore the Civil War Memorial and Commandery Museum while enjoying outdoor activities such as birdwatching and utilizing playgrounds and fitness trails. The park also features new totem-style signs offering information on walking and cycling routes, local history, and wildlife.
This is one of the best and loveliest places to walk and get a great view of Worcester (city particularly) and surrounding areas. It's a bit steep in places, with steps and tarmac slopes to facilitate your perambulations up and down the slopes. It's also a great place to reflect on the history of Worcester whilst walking the dog or just simply strolling for exercise. There's a brilliant set of climbing frames and other children's playtime activities for a range of ages, and plenty of places to sit and soak up the views. The gardens are very clean and loaded with a large variety of trees, shrubs and plants. Wonderful on a sunny day, whatever the season.

Fort Royal Park is a nice, small park that's definitely worth visiting. Don't expect too much in terms of size, but what it lacks in scale, it makes up for in charm. The park features an area for kids to play and offers stunning views of Worcester, including the beautiful Worcester Cathedral. Well maintained park in the city. A very historical place commemorating the final battle of the English civil war. It is a steep climb to the top when approaching from the Commandery next door. There are steps and a slope for all users. Good views from the top. Dogs allowed.

Probably the best place to get photos of Worcester with its cathedral. Good play area. Steep hills. Historical information boards relating to Battle of Worcester in 1651.
Paul S — Google review
Great views over Worcester and across to the Malvern Hills. A fine selection of paths, trees, flowers and grass. Generally very clean and tidy. Its location on a steep hillside may not suit those with mobility issues or residents of the Netherlands/Texas, and it also contributes to the high risk of personal injury when sledging in the winter snow. If you feel an urgent need for alcohol I would recommend JB Wines just up London Road but you will be breaking the law if you drink it in the park, so don't do it. Especially not in the excellent children's adventure playground that is situated near the lower entrance.

The Bierkeller Showbar is a lively German-style bar known for its steins of beer and food offerings. It's a popular nightlife spot with DJs, table dancing, and special events. While some visitors have mentioned limited beer options and disappointing pizza experiences, others have enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere, diverse music selection, and multiple dance floors. Overall, it's described as a fun place with a mix of ages enjoying the party vibes.
Had my first experience of belters bingo last night, couldn’t recommend it more if I tried! Table service throughout the evening, drinks were brought quickly and efficiently. The bingo was absolutely incredible, lots of prizes to be won along with pure entertainment. Went back in after bingo for showtime, the whole place had been cleaned really well ready for showtime and again what a lovely experience it was. Would highly recommend!
Bethany H — Google review
Too much show, not enough bar. All style no substance, that is the year-long impression I get from here. Nice looking venue, nothing else is good. Wow I noticed current staff posting 5 star reviews to counter mine. Very corrupt and dishonest place to boot. Unwilling to handle criticism, like true narcissists. I will try and be brief throughout but also double down, triple down on my original comments of incompetent managers. I noticed the gradual cutting of work hours was infuriating, especially after a change in the business (redacted) I pursued better hours elsewhere, when this didn't happen for some reason, the managers deleted all of my hours (WITHOUT NOTIFICATION, A KEY POINT) and I was told to "suck it up" when I called them out on their incompetence, they had a temper tantrum, just shy of me providing a tissue to wipe away tears, which isn't in my job description fyi 🥴 so I returned the favour by leaving abruptly, there is zero animosity from me, I forgive however I operate on a different system of honour and principles which isn't recognised here. So it won't be understood where I'm coming from, it never is. Another day, another dead end, dirty, smelly job, bites the dust, and I couldn't be happier about it. the only thing I cared for was the social-mobility, otherwise I rarely get to talk to other people. It should be mentioned that I think they noticed I was "too attractive to women" so I was shoved into the kitchen as a punishment. Another place that is jealous of me. Let me be clear, this was not a job to me it was a social-outing, I couldn't care less about this business, never did, just going through the motions of it all. I deserve better and at the end of the day, I will get what I want, come wind rain or shine, doubt me all you want. The main manager subsequently lied to us saying we would never actually get zero hours (basically unemployed), I will not serve as a lapdog patsy having my time controlled and not paid for and not recognised as important. Goodbye! it is not some mystery why they can't fill the venue or work schedule it's because you suck at management and clearly I should take over as your saviour. Secondly the ridiculous fancy dress, is nothing short of immature, doesn't change me running round ball-busting for the bare bones minimum wage the amount they can get away with paying, like dirt on the end of your shoe. I am not close enough to the value of my labour. I was once remarked as "the best employee he ever had" but again this is just words. Does not fill my pockets with cash. And does not make want to stay. Do better in 2025 Pathetic Konga dancing is childish and low quality of bands seemingly dug up out of someone's back garden. I was tired of getting ill, social gatherings went out of fashion circa march 2020. The memo was lost. managed like an old council with none of the credentials of one. Full of self important managers, lacking credibility. All cheap tat from Temu and Ali Express to surely end up in the bin, polluting the environment, because it is perfectly meaningless. Gladly, I never took part in this charade. My conscience is clear. Thirdly, The DJ Is a nice chap, I even shaked his hand, but he is stuck in a 1980's time warp and he is useless and outdated, he should have been sacked 30 years ago, he is no Calvin Harris that is for sure, great guy but he wouldn't last 30 minutes under my command. Butlins tier. The volume of the music is far too loud, it's so loud in fact that even hearing protection does not feel adequate. My ears are still ringing. The pizza is store-bought but that is obvious to anyone with a smooth-brain. My suggestions for improvement fell on deaf ears because they clearly feel a superiority complex and do whatever they feel like doing on a whim, to their detriment. eventually this arrogant, zany, inept approach to management will tank the business - despite massive potential that I can see. It is rather a shame.

First time there, great vibe, loads of happy people and a mix of ages with a wide variety of party music. Found the second dance floor upstairs which was great too. The only reason it doesn't get 5⭐ was the lack of ales. Overall had a fun night, looking forward to going back👍

Bierkeller 2nd night since it opened so maybe teething problems but I have been to many German beer houses across Europe and the US. This is not even close to the real thing. It's just Alexanders night club with wooden tables. They started by playing 90s pop(hey mickey, mambo number 5) Then at 9 the German music arrived or so I thought. (oggi oggi oggi oi oi oi and up and down) . Not very German,. Now the beer. 4% at £10 a stein. That's £5 a pint. The stein for some reason is made out of plastic and not glass. The 5.3‰ works out at 7.50 a pint that's very expensive. It's very dark inside. Now the free slice of pizza was eaten in 2 bites it's cheap. It was tiny. Very disappointed. Good news I think they show football, I will update at a later date when I have seen the football here. Overall very poor and not worth the price just seems like a money grab. Could have done a far better in my opinion. Staff were friendly. The dancing on tables was OK but as someone 6ft and low ceiling in places I did bang my head a few times.
Luke S — Google review
This is a review of the bottomless brush Feb 2025. Start time is 4pm, first drink arrived 35 mins later. The beer is becks, the cocktails are litre jugs of ice and fruit juice barely any alcohol. Hardly any staff, even the dj and security had to hand out stuff. Pizza is brought out slowly with one pizza per six people so eat before. I don't think youbget your money for drinks back. And the theme of the week just means the odd song (in this case abba) between curent and old songs.
Stuart H — Google review
Brilliant atmosphere upstairs in the disco room at Bierkeller however the person serving behind the bar was extremely rude! They knew we were waiting but the bar got busier and deliberately ignored us and served us last after all other customers had moved away from the bar. (Male with long blonde hair) … not good service at all. Must have been 15-20 mins we waited. Sour shots are expensive too!

Bar 🍻 was good, plastic steins were a bit disappointing, and the beer options were limited. The 🍕 was ok, if you like your cheese cremated. May be the kitchen was overwhelmed on our visit. What a fab afternoon we had at Gin School. Great explanation of the gin making process and then being able to blend your own ingredients to make your own signature gin. James and Lucy were great hosts and really attentive. Had a lovely 3 hours making gin and meeting other fellow gin makers.

Outstanding experience at the Gin making class. Staff are the most down to earth friendly people. Fantastic value for money and the best way to spend a Saturday. Thankyou Megan and Lisa you truly are a credit to Piston Gin! You can keep the door open because I certainly will be returning. 😁

Absolutely bloody brilliant! We booked a cocktail-making masterclass at Piston Gin Distillery as part of a hen do, and it was hands down one of the highlights of the whole weekend. The team were so welcoming, fun, and seriously knew their stuff — from the perfect pour to the little tricks that make a cocktail look and taste amazing. The atmosphere was relaxed but buzzing, and they struck the perfect balance between teaching us proper cocktail techniques and keeping the vibe light and full of laughs (exactly what you want on a hen do). The gin itself? Chef’s kiss — smooth, distinctive, and dangerously drinkable. From start to finish, the experience was flawless. Everyone came away raving about it and feeling like a bit of a cocktail pro. If you’re planning a special occasion or just fancy learning how to shake up a perfect drink, Piston Gin is the place to go. 10/10 — would book again!

What a great experience. Four of us had a fantastic afternoon learning about the history of gin, the history of Piston Gin, the distillation process culminating in distilling our own gin. At every stage, the staff were friendly, knowledgeable and so helpful. We were able to sample the various Piston Distillery products and mixers as frequently as we wanted as part of the Gin School experience. This helped when choosing our botanicals, but also added to the overall atmoshere. There were other pairs in the school and all entered into the spirit and seemed to enjoy the afternoon as much as we did. During the school phase we were served cheeses, chutney, grapes and crackers to soak up some of the alcohol. The afternoon concluded with our own gins being bottled and labelled before a final tasting and comparing our own gins. I cannot recommend the Gin School more highly. You don't need to be a Gin connoisseur, just go with an open mind. Excellent value for money and we will return to sample the Jazz and Comedy Club events in the future.

Historical place
The Battle of Worcester in 1651, a pivotal event during the English Civil War, can be explored at The Commandery, which served as the Royalist headquarters. Visitors can marvel at the impressive Great Hall and an array of weaponry while delving into this significant period of English history through captivating displays.
Nice place for a walk, quiet lot of green around

Lovely walk along the Teme and Severn rivers. You’ll be walking along the ‘Monarch Way’ by the Old Powick bridge which was part of Charles II’s escape route and where the Battle of Worcester took place in the English Civil war. Be warned if you are dog walking that there is livestock along the walk and can be quite muddy. We usually park on Weir Lane and start near the Diglis footbridge and work our way towards Old Powick bridge for about an hours trundling. Good walk in the fresh air.

We went there with my children 5 and 10yrs old, last two parts to the old Powick Bridge are leading through cows field! Bulls weren't really happy that we are there on our bikes. Farmers shouldn't let them be there on the middle of the footpaths...
