Free local watering hole. We showed up and parking was plentiful by the bridge. Guy was asking for $4 to watch our vehicle. Fun spot and worth doing the swing if in the area after the waterfall.

My wife and I went twice while on our honeymoon because it was so fun. The first day we went was on a somewhat rain-y Thursday morning. There was hardly anyone there and it was great. The second day was around noon on a beautifully sunny Sunday and it was packed. So so many people but still so fun. I definitely recommend going when you think there will be less people but either way this is a fortuna must-do!

My too chicken to do it but my husband had the time of his life! Highly recommend. Easy access for a quick stop or to hang out and enjoy the beautiful waterfalls.

A little scared to jump at first, the current looked strong. But after seeing a local do it and encourage us, we jumped several times. The water was cool and refreshing, and later there were so many people from all over speaking a bunch of different languages so it just felt like you could come here and enjoy yourself no matter where you're from.

Such a cool rope swing and a great atmosphere here. Lovely place to swim with lots of spots to jump in too!

We went just to see the river and were not disappointed. Definitely check this place out regardless if you want to rope swing or not.

Very cool local spot to hang out and it's free. We enjoyed people watching there and it was fun to see people kayaking down the springs and jumping off the ropes. There is a rocky path down and not that hard to navigate, it was fun to explore the different areas. Definitely wear swimsuit as you'll want to sit on the rocks by the water and will get wet and wet shoes are a must as the ground is very rocky and slippery. I saw others walking around barefoot and couldn't imagine how painful it must be although maybe locals are used to it. There is parking on the street nearby. Thankfully we were not scammed into paying the "parking attendants" as it was slow season. Right by the side of the road there are people grilling corn and hot dogs. Unfortunately we had already eaten but we would love to go back and buy some food from the local vendors.

Beautiful garden and visiting historical church gives you holy inspiration. You can see national tree of Costa Rica.

Very beautiful experience. Highly sought out by tourists of all nationalities. I would say that if you visit with time restraints you might not want to. This can take a lot of time due to tour groups clustering and camera manipulators so be for warned. Also bring a water repellent jacket and water or expect to get wet when it rains.

Excellent option to park in La Fortuna. It is located near the park and the church in the middle of town. Plenty of spaces to park and it is extremely affordable. Very secure and reliable. Parking is pretty much automatic if you pay with a credit card. But there is also stop on site if you need to pay cash. By the time I parked in September 2025, the rate was approximately 790 colones an hour. I felt extremely safe, leaving my car here.

The center of La Furtuna. Everyone has to get their pictures there. Immaculate gardens and paths. Constantly patrolled by security.

The chocolate tour with Roberto was such a fun and unforgettable experience for our whole family. Roberto made the entire tour engaging, informative, and full of laughs. You can tell he truly enjoys what he does, and that energy made the experience even better. Roberto showed us the process from cacao bean to finished product and let us sample different types of chocolate at each stage. It was hands-on, educational, and honestly, just a lot of fun. We even got to try chocolate with various toppings like salt, coffee, and chili powder. What made this tour stand out was Roberto’s humor and storytelling. He kept the kids entertained and had the adults laughing too. It never felt rushed or scripted..just a genuine, down-to-earth experience with someone who clearly loves sharing Costa Rican culture. If you’re in La Fortuna, this tour is a must. My four kids gave it 5 stars.

We have had such a informative and fun tour with Roberto! We have learned a lot about cocoa and chocolate, tried to make our own chocolate that we tasted later - yuuum 😋, made and tasted cocoa using ancient Mayan recipe… highly recommend the tour and thanks again Roberto!

We took this tour because of other reviewers raving about Roberto. He did not disappoint. Very informative. I thought I knew something about cacao, but most of it was wrong! This is a great experience, well worth the money.

The chocolate tour was fun but is really only an hour long. During the first bit our guide brought us over and was doing more of a nature walk than chocolate tour. He kept trying to hype people up about how much chocolate they’d be getting but it got old pretty quick. He pointed out some mold on some of the cacao pods and was commenting on how it needed to be broken off and buried and made a huge deal out of it and then ignored the fact that there were two other pods near him that had the mold on it. Making the chocolate itself was fun and so was mixing things together at the end. Overall was a do it once kind of tour and then not again. I’d probably recommend going on a tour that couples multiple activities together.

I really recommend this tour. It's super interesting and informative. Our guide Gexel was so passionate and energetic, clearly she's knowledgeable about the cacao and production process and made sure to include everyone in activities. It's the people who makes places special and everyone who works there is so nice, kind and full of joy. Absolute pleasure even in the rain. You get to try all sort of chocolate. The small gift shop is very well priced for all locally produced chocolate. Definitely worth stocking up here rather than at the airport or other major souvenir shops.

This was one of the things we really wanted to do on our trip! Our daughter has a horse of her own so it’s kind of her life ❤️ Booking this was super easy. We didn’t book way in advance…maybe 3 days. Communication was often whether by email or text. It was also easy to find where to go. The location on the stables and ride was great. We went during the rainy season so we didn’t see as much of the Volcano but we were okay with that. We still went up old lava tubes, saw some other wild life and spent some time loving on the horses. Our guide, Adrian ??, was really great! He was very friendly, even let my daughter and I switch horses and I prefer a slower, hang out in the back kind of horse. The info he gave us about the property and horses after the ride was really interesting as well!

Great ride to the stables, clean bathrooms before descending about 400 stairs to the waterfall was spectacular. A beautiful plunge and back up. We also crossed a suspension swinging bridge. Unfortunately, the wildlife was not out for us. Then a nice ride back. Even in the rain.

Truly an amazing tour with our amazing guide Adrian! He was so knowledgeable, my partner & I talked to him for quite a while about his life & some local history/fun facts. The horses were very well cared for and all very sweet, all very well behaved. The riding path is great, with stunning views of the volcano most of the time. Adrian took the time to help everyone get photos. He even gave us a tour of the barn afterwards and let us meet all the horses that were in barn. This experience was one of the highlights of our trip, 10/10 all around. If you love horses like we do, you do not want to miss out on this gem!!!

Loved my experience horseback riding up to the viewpoint to see the volcano! Unfortunately the weather was not on our side so I didn’t get to actually see the top of the volcano, but the riding experience was still fun. I had previous riding experience but I would say it’s also suitable for new riders! Horses were very calm and well-behaved. I got to ride a little faster at different points and that was super exciting. Our guide Mario was very friendly! Definitely prepare to be sore the next day 😅

Amazing!! Initially, we went to the wrong meeting location (our fault), and they actually waiting for us for 30 minutes! Our guide, Adrian was amazing, very professional and knowledgable. The views of Arenal were breathtaking. I cannot recommend this tour company enough!

We had a fantastic time on the horseback tour, exploring Arenal and seeing La Fortuna waterfall. We also saw a blue-jeaned poison dart frog and eyelash viper and enjoyed the scenery on the route. Having lunch and access to Baldi hot springs for the rest of the day was the cherry on top!

The best guided tour in La Fortuna! Had the pleasure of having William Bogarin provide the guided tour for my visit and saw lots of animals! William was incredibly kind, knowledgeable and very patient to get all the photos I wanted. Parking is super easy, the staff is very friendly and overall it’s a great experience. Also, definitely do the guided tour! You will not see much on your own just walking around, they are the experts and know where to look! Please give them a visit!

Firstly, William was a fantastic guide. Incredible knowledge and eagle-eyed skills to spot all sorts of animals and critters. Thank you for your insight and kindness. Plainly: You will see many animals and more on this tour. We saw our first sloth within one minute on the trails. There is an interesting history to the property that the guide will share with you. The lush, dense forest is fascinating. We didn't even book ahead, just walked up. Most tours are on the hour, so plan accordingly. Bring water.

not just sloths! while we did see four sloths on our walk, there were also plenty of other animals like frogs and birds to see and take photos of. our tour guide William was fabulous. he was really good at taking photos with and without the telescope that each guide carries and had eagle eyes to see the animals. the cold pineapple at the end of the tour was the cherry on top. definitely worth a trip!

The best daytime walking tour of our entire Costa Rica trip! Highly recommend paying for a guided tour, which lasts about 2 hours. The guide’s knowledge and the views through their telescope are priceless. Trail is flat, very easy terrain.

Walked the short trail, saw sloths, poison frogs, lizards, and birds. Guide Randall eas patient and knowledgeable and shared interesting facts. But...$45 USD per person feels steep for what you get. Also, they don't do research, rescue animals, or help imprive the rainforest habitat. I'd suggest not supporting this one, It seems the cash just lines the owners' pockets, check out Proyecto Asis instead.

We had a wonderful guide. She took photos on my mobile using her scope. We saw several sloths and a baby sloth. Also an iguana and poison arrow frogs. It was well worth doing. You can also go back and do the trail again foc. The entrance covers 2 days.

We decided to go here and we chose a guide and it was the best decision we made as we saw so much wildlife. William was out guide and was a founding member of the park. His knowledge and ability to see animals including insects was amazing.

Beautiful shop, tasty treats—but not worth the price. We stopped into Chocolate Fusion for a sweet break and enjoyed the overall atmosphere. The coffee was solid, and the chocolates were good—but not $45-for-10-chocolates-and-two-drinks good. Everything looked beautiful and was clearly made with care, but the prices felt more like luxury branding than true value. If you’re looking for a small indulgence or a gift, it’s fine—but don’t come hungry.

Seems like a place where you will find everything you’re looking for when it comes to chocolate, treats, pastries, and even coffee. They have ice cream and coffee as well as chocolates. I give it four stars only for the fact that the prices are a bit steep for the average Costa Rica. Other than that, excellent variety.

Nice coffee and dessert place. Very rich chocolate flavours and beatiful interior - although note it does get very busy throughout the day. Molten lava cake was great but they did not make it warm enough. Ice cream is also nice but nothing special. European prices

Me & my husband came here for our honeymoon and we fell in love with this place. Every morning we’d come in order a different coffee and play chess. The atmosphere is so calm and welcoming , there’s plenty of spots to sit and relax. They have games laid around everywhere , pastries, and ice cream. A selection of all different types of coffees and drinks as well. Yarirza always served us and we looked forward to seeing her every morning and saying hi! Her hospitality was always appreciated and she was very nice and has a welcoming smile. We highlight recommended you give Chocolate Fusion a try :)

Lots of options. Stopped briefly to get a piece of chocolate cake and iced coffee. Very delicious. But the cake wasnt as good the next day, so you'll want to eat it fresh.

This is our favorite spot every time we travel to La Fortuna, the best coffee shop in the town if not, in the whole province. Friendly staff, fast service, and very clean. The pastry taste amazing give it a shot and thank me later! Highly recommended.

We did a morning tour with Coffee & Chocolate Tour La Fortuna; it took about 2.5 hours and was wonderful ! Our guide was very knowledgeable and took us around the demo areas of coffee, cacao and sugarcane plants and how the beans / canes are processed. The demo areas have plants of a few different sizes bearing the coffee beans or the cacao fruits and we saw examples of harvesting stages, different stages of fermentation or roasting and grinding, and lastly got samples to taste. The coffee tour was very informative about I roasted, light, medium or dark roasted beans, how their aromas and caffeine contents vary and ended with the guide brewing a pot of coffee using a local drip set up. In the chocolate tour we got to taste some pre made chocolates and also made some ourselves by mixing ingredients like processed cacao powder, sugar, milk, additions like peanut butter etc. Lastly, during the sugarcane tour, he showed us how sugarcane stems are pressed to extract juice. Overall it was a very informative and engaging tour, and worth the time. We even saw a sloth hanging out in one of the tall nearby trees.

We did the coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane tour. It was about 2 hours. Our guide johnny was very friendly and knowledgeable. We learned a lot about all 3 items and got to try some tasty coffee and chocolate that he had made.

I highly recommend this tour! I came with our family of 5, 2 adults and kids ages 11,7 and a 10mo baby. We were also with my dad and uncle who are seniors and we all enjoyed it. It was very informative, we saw and learned a lot about different plants and fruits in the farm and about the process of making coffee and chocolate and even sugar syrup. My sons participated in all the different process and had a great time. The price of the tour is totally reasonable and you can also purchase different wines and chocolates there.

This was an incredible experience! I was thrilled to witness firsthand the processes of coffee and chocolate production. Having tasted chocolate from various sources, I can confidently say that the fresh, homemade chocolate I enjoyed here surpassed them all. The factory-processed chocolates I've had in the past simply cannot compare. The coffee was equally exceptional. Our knowledgeable guide provided valuable insights throughout the tour, ensuring I learned a great deal. This experience was truly enlightening and a highlight of my trip.

We rented the bike for 2 days and everything went smoothly. The lady who rented it to us was very friendly. We were considering going here because of the bad reviews, but we gave them a chance and I believe that they're trying to make the business better. Taking a video when you receive a vehicle is recommended for any rental. It's gonna save you lots of time and trouble when you return it.

Overall, I was pretty happy with this place though there are some caveats that you should know about. Make sure to bring your driver's license. You do not need a motorcycle license even for moto, but you do need a regular driver's license for all of the options. We rented the motorcycles for 24 hours to go to two places specifically, Castillo and Nuevo Arenal. Both of these places are around the lake, just in different spots, both were very beautiful in their own way. The motos were in good condition, both aesthetically and mechanically. For 24 hours it costs $70 for a 150cc, manual moto. For most people, it would probably make sense to rent the scooter instead because you're also getting 150cc but for $50. So here are some caveats. The distance / locations that you're allowed to go are quite limited for example to the West you are not allowed to go past Nuevo Arenal and to the east you're not even allowed to go past the town limits. The purpose of these bikes is just to see the town itself and go to different main tourist attractions in the area. The second caveat is that if you damage any parts of the bike, even slightly, you will be expected to buy new parts. I dropped the bike one time and it ended up costing me an extra $210 to replace various parts. The owners take a very good look at the bike upon return, so when they ask you to take video beforehand, I would take it seriously. The contract is also pretty clear that any damage you go to the bike you will be responsible for so if you total the scooter you will be out $3,000 at the total the motorcycle you'll be out $4,500. Any hospital related injuries sustained from riding they will cover. Overall, I think that the couple are honest and the rentals are well maintained. However I would only rent from them if I were confident that I would not damage any of their rentals.

We had no booking, just walked in and asked if there was availability. Paco sorted us out with no hassles, no bartering. He was a really good guide as well. After being in la fortuna a couple days, we'd seen all the sights and just wanted some fast paced ATV driving, and he delivered it. Double checking every now and then to ensure we were happy. Great area to ride motor bikes. Lady was very nice and even gave us a little extra time. Scooters are in good condition. There are two places in town however this place offers the same quality for less money. If you can ride a moto dont miss out in this beautiful area.

Would highly recommend doing their tour on the side by side. It was one of the coolest tours I’ve done in Costa Rica.

We had a really good experience with Moto Rental. We rented 4 atvs and 1 side by side. The guides were great and the equipment great also. Two of us had never ridden at all and were very much at home on the entire ride after the guides told them what they needed to know. Just be safe, treat the bikes with respect and listen and follow the guides lead and you will have a great time taking in a lot of great scenery during the ride.

My family absolutely loved the zip line. My fearless six year old daughter said this was her favorite thing to do while here. 10/10 would highly recommend!

We booked the day before over WhatsApp- staff were responsive and booking was easy. Our extreme zip lining tour was so much fun! However, we felt a bit rushed. It would have been nice to stop and enjoy the views. But, the tour guides were excellent. Particularly, thank you to Cecy. I was very, very nervous and she was amazing at calming me down and making my experience fun.

Such a nice place! They were so helpful since the first time I contacted them, responding fast and being so nice. They took our 4 year old kid to have fun with zip lines. Not many companies do that and it’s a putty as they are the ones enjoying the most. They are very professional and you feel safe all the time. The circuit is very nice and fun.

Good time, knowledgable guides. We didn’t get there at your time, found local guide for low cost for three of us. Was intimate and learned a lot. If I returned again, I may not get a guide again, but for local knowledge of Flora and Fauna was worth it.

They were very accommodating . We booked last second. Not minute but literally second. We had a blast on the zipline over la fortuna waterfall and loved the baldi hot springs.

Came here with a group of 12, and I’d say everyone really enjoyed their meal! The drinks were a highlight—I had a frozen coffee, and it was amazing. The kids all had fruit drinks, which were also delicious, especially the pineapple basil one! If you're looking for good Costa Rican food, this is a great spot. I’d definitely eat here again!

As someone who is a self-proclaimed foodie and pretty particular about the food I have to pay for and ingest, I will say that this has probably been one of the best meals that I’ve had in Costa Rica, and not just this particular region of the country. Costa Rica has great coffee almost everywhere. But this is a notable mention for one of the best coffee chorreado ( drip coffee) . I also ordered an empanada which was so yummy. We tried the one with beef and it was lip smacking good. Kids had the hot chocolate which was too cute.

Stopped here on a tour, and I was not disappointed! We had the mixed seafood ceviche and chicken nachos. Probably one of the best ceviches I have ever had! Highly recommend as it comes with fish, shrimp, and octopus. The beans in the nachos were the secret ingredient. Service was great even though I don't speak Spanish.

Good food, size of portions and service. In the middle of la Fortuna, so central with price corresponding to it (however not expensive). They say that their specialty are sea food. The tuna was really good (~14 000 colones).

Great find while walking through La Fortuna. We we were able to support local and get some great pieces. The staff was friendly and appreciative and made the time to explain the art and who the artists were.

Great local art at reasonable prices! I checked out almost every art store in town for a specific type of painting I was looking for. This studio was the last place I went and the best one! I got exactly what I wanted and the shop owner spent over 5 minutes packaging it up for me so I could bring it home without getting damaged. Pura Vida!

My mom, daughter and I went to this store on our trip to Costa Rica and really loved it. The owner was very helpful and spoke some English. I also like how they carry the products of 12 different artists. The stuff was lovely and the prices were reasonable! I will go back!

What an amazing experience we had Braulio and Brian take care of us and they were incredible tour guides. Class 5 rapids, 2 hours of adventure and I've never felt more safe on the water and I've done a lot of white water rafting trips. These guys make it fun and safe while going through some incredible jungle and river landscapes. The food and snacks provided are delicious and the entire experience is worth the cost! Oh my goodness! THE BEST WHITEWATER RAFTING in Costa Rica! Pablo, Moses, & Ruper made a great trip absolutely awesome! You really get your money’s worth, on this excursion! The white water rafting is extraordinary right from the start! then, halfway through, you pull off the river briefly and have fresh watermelon and pineapple right on the riverbank. Along the way, We saw toucans, cormorants and kept our eyes open for sloths and monkeys. then, at the end of the incredible float, we were greeted with dry towels and a bottle of water! Next, hop on a clean bus and head for a hot lunch which turned out to be delicious as well! Everyone got to watch the rafting photos being played on the big screen while we ate, and laughed and generally had a great time! You will not regret booking your Whitewater rafting trip with Arenal Rafting in La Fortuna, Costa Rica! For fun, safety and great memories, this 62, 58, & 15 year old, it could not have been better!

This was the first thing my husband and I did in La Fortuna and boy did we choose well. It was so much fun, our guide, Oso was wild and gave us the thrill of a lifetime on those rapids. He flipped our boat (but was completely in control) and took us on the best ride down the Balsa River. We laughed, we screamed, we almost cried and then had a delicious lunch at the end. The owner was kind and had a great sense of humor. Highly recommend for everyone and anyone ready for an adventure!

We had the best time at Arenal rafting! Our guide was Braulio. He did a great job of making us feel safe while also keeping us on our toes. He navigated the river expertly, and went above and beyond to make sure we all had fun taking breaks for fruit, and Cliff jumping. Would 10/10 recommend Are al rafting. Ask for Braulio!

We wanted to try a class 4 rapids as we had previously done other classes in other countries. Even though it is said to be extreme, yes the splashes and waves were tough but I never once felt unsafe. There were total of 7 rafts carrying 4 passengers each and the nice thing they had were 2 kayaks that were keeping track and following the group from the back or hanging at the side checking the rocks 🪨 in the water, making sure we wont get stuck. This is the first time I had done whitewater rafting with a 'safety crew' tailing behind. This made me feel extra safe, you know you will have help at any point of time. There were also crew members who took plenty of pics for the groups. Prices of the pics were very reasonable too ($40 for everything and u can share the cost with your raft mates). Some people did fall overboard and we managed to rescue them into our raft as per the safety briefing instructions. I fell overboard too but grabbed hold of the raft's rope so as not to be swept away and my guide swiftly pulled me up. Jorge (our guide) was great with commands, helpful and did a really good job keeping us safe and having fun at the same time. I would definitely recommend arenal rafting if anyone is visiting la fortuna.

First class all around. This was my family’s favorite activity while a week long trip to Costa Rica! Colon our guide was amazing to work with. He spotted lots of wildlife and made our trip very memorable. Thank you crew !

Had the best experience ever. This was such a highlight of my trip. This place is organized, safe, and really make sure everyone is having fun. I’d never done any rafting before but felt absolutely safe the entire time. Major bonus for you if you get Jimmy - he was the best. If you’re sitting on the fence, just book it. It was such a great tour and I really appreciate our guide Jose for his knowledge. We saw a lot of sloths and even some babies. We learned a little of interesting facts about these amazing animals. We bought a combo tour with coffee-chocolate and sugar cane. You can buy it directly from the entrance and the price was much better then one we saw in our hotel or online

Our tour guide was amazing... he was great with our daughter. I give it 4 stars as we found it expensive for low season price. We are canadian so being charged American prices sucks. I did ask them to charge us in colons. Just because we speak English charging us in USA funds isn't cool.

We had a great experience on the 13th of November for morning day tour. It was rainy but gave us that full rainforest feel while we looked for wildlife. The guide was super knowledgeable, friendly, and we were able to see sloths, owl, dart frog, "Jesus" lizard, as well. Recommended.

We had a great experience with sloth watching at Sloth watching trail, La Fortuna. Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We could spot many sloths, frogs, birds, garden lizards and a snake. Learnt so much about nature. Glad we chose this place for our sloth watching experience. I would recommend this place and I am sure you won’t be disappointed

100% do this tour when in La Fortuna. Adonay was phenomenal guide He took his time to explain everything and was extremely knowledgeable about the sloths and creatures and insects we came across. We saw several sloths which was our first time Ever seeing any so was very special. He was funny and truly passionate about his job at Sloth park and that says a lot We hope to do the coffee tour next time but we were only in Costa Rica for 3 days so our time was limited so grateful we stumbled across this tour

Sloth Tour cost me $45 for an 1.5hr - we got see many sloths, anteater, owls, frogs. Our tour guide was Agustin and he was so knowledgeable and funny too. PS: you will not be able to pet the sloths. As they are usually always at the top of the trees.

We did a zip lining tour here (7 lines) and it was fabulous. I felt very safe, the guides were terrific and the views were outstanding. We got to see a slice of the area that we probably wouldn't have otherwise. I'd definitely check out their other tours as well. The land is very beautiful and seems like they have great staff and trained guides.

I had the most amazing experience with this company. I purchased the package that includes the zip lines, rappelling, and horseback riding. Funnily enough I was the only one out of the whole group to do so, so it ended up being like a private adventure! My guides, Gerson and Jose were so kind and attentive, they were the best. The rappelling (80m next to a waterfall) was intense and so worth it. The views from the zip lines were incredible, and the horseback riding was the calm ending the day needed. Loved it so much, 10/10 recommend booking with them.

My family and I had the best experience zip-lining here! We did the tour with 7 ziplines and it was the perfect length. The guides kept us safe, were extremely kind, and had a great sense of humor. The ziplines themselves were thrilling and the scenery is absolutely gorgeous. The guides even pointed out a howler monkey during our tour! Definitely recommend!

You can’t go wrong choosing this place for the horseback riding waterfall hike. The horses are well taken care of and have a lot of energy. I had Willy (leader of the group) and my boyfriend had Dollar. They let us trot and canter. It’s about a 30 minute ride to the stairs that leads to the waterfalls. There we were able to change into our bathing suits. Our guide, Danny was great! He was easy to talk to with a lot of knowledge. He leads the way down to the waterfalls and back up allowing us to stop and catch our breath while not feeling rushed. The waterfall is amazing! Very strong waves it creates but if you decide to jump in there are lifeguards there. Not easy climbing over the boulder rocks so be careful and wear water shoes. The other side allows for more relaxed wading and swimming in the cold but refreshing water. There are little fish that hang out with you. Definitely a must see attraction!

We paid $19pp to do a self guided hike to the ls fortuna waterfall from the tour center. We felt this would be the more scenic option as opposed to the 500 steps up and down at the La Fortuna waterfall visitor center. Starting off we walked through the garden which had a few small ponds. Then the trail eventually came out onto the road where we walked uphill for 1-2 miles until we reached the restrooms/break area. We were able to spot several species of toucans from the surrounding trees. After the restrooms we started the decent to the waterfall. There is a swinging bridge about 1/4 of the way down. Once you reach the bottom there is a swimming area and platform to view the waterfall. It’s 10km total (~6mi). I highly recommend this option if you are looking for a more gradual ascent / decent with scenery.

We did the hike and the start and finish was beautiful. We didn't see a lot of animals, but the nature was beautiful. With as Highlight the waterfall. There is even an hanging bridge. But why the four stars? The middle part of the trail was really boring and you just walked on unpaved road shared with transport cars and horses. If they can make this part as beautiful as the start and finish, it would be a 6/5.

The Adrenaline Combo package was amazing and a must do! If you’re on the edge or nervous about the rappelling, just do it! Alfonso and Sebastian were the best guides! Very professional and safety was their number one concern. I was very nervous to rappel but would do it again and again without hesitation after this experience. After the rappelling, we continued with the zip lining which was also awesome with spectacular views! After walking through the Maleku Village, we ended our tour with horse back riding back to the beginning. Do not miss out on this experience, just do it!! - Pura Vida!🇨🇷🤙🏻

Location is great and shared spaces such as the terrace are good. Although the rooms are very basic. For one night it is fine.

We are staying at Las Colinas Hotel, and unfortunately, our experience has been far from pleasant. Upon arrival, we discovered that our room faces a busy street, resulting in constant noise that disturbs us both day and night. The single-pane windows provide no sound insulation, making it possible not only to hear traffic outside but also conversations of passersby, which significantly reduces both our privacy and comfort. Another major issue is the beds— the mattresses are so worn out that you can feel every metal spring, making a restful sleep nearly impossible. As for the bathroom, it does not even meet basic standards, but I’d rather not go into details. When we tried to address these problems and requested a room change, the staff showed no willingness to help, and our request was dismissed with what felt like mockery. Overall, our stay here has been a huge disappointment, and I would not recommend this so-called hotel to anyone. We will definitely never return.

Downstairs room with no window and no ventilation even in bathroom. Bed cover has dirt or something on it and needs washing. It is not a blanket or bed spread. Room and AC smells of mold/mildew. There is water stansing behind the toilet. Had to turn off air after we returned from dinner it smelled that bad. Nothing dries...towels, swim suit..nothing. I already have a sore throat and we have 2 more nights here. :( Staff are really friendly and food in the attached restaurant has been good. I would not stay here ever again. I submitted complaint to G Adventures and to my travel agent.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, they helped us plan some of the attractions. The location of the hotel is right in the center of town so you are close to everything you need. Overall, great value for money.

We booked as a group. One room they gave us was pathetic with very bad odor only upon strong confrontation they changed our room. All the while saying they sold out.. couple of rooms had water logging issues. Hot water cannot be called hot water. Very thin walls making the rooms on ground floors uncomfortable while at night. Staff are friendly but management needs to understand the needs and should cater towards that.

Great value. Not super fancy but very clean, wonderful location, great breakfast, potable water, and really nice folks at the desk. Really, this hotel provides everything one needs for a great visit to the La Fortuna area. Go for it!

Superb location, can walk to places in La Fortuna. The roof top dining area was nice. The food we ordered were pretty good. They have a secured parking place which was great but it is about 500 mts away. The room was tiny. Needs major updates and looks like the last update was like 20 years back. The AC even though cooled the room well, made such a loud noise that we were not able sleep peacefully. Since we had to get it as last minute option, we did not have much choice. But the location and the view was the saving grace.

What an amazing day we had at ABC Canyoning. Our driver and guide Alex was amazing. Our second guide Arturo was knowledgeable and gave us a gr t hike back to the top, pointing out plants and animals along the way. We had a small group, just our family of four. We laughed and screamed our way through the incredible repels. We were then treated to an authentic Costa Rican breakfast. Everything from pick-up to drop off was a four star experience. Beautiful views, professional and friendly staff, delicious food. If you are looking for a great experience you can’t go wrong.

Alfonso and Arturo were fantastic! We came with my sister and my brother in law and we had an amazing time. I loved everything about our time with these two and would highly recommend if you want a real adventure and authentic taste of Costa Rica.

Amazing waterfall rappelling tour! Every waterfall is challenging and fun. You actually push off of rock walls & waterfalls in every climb down. Unlike other big tour operators, this Rappelling tour is really over waterfalls and has a high thrill factor. I felt it to be more raw, fun & challenging than a large operator. Alex and Javi were great guides! Don't forget a waterproof lanyard pouch for your cellphone. You will get soaking wet!

This was such an amazing and exhilarating experience. You dont need much experience in extreme sports to enjoy but you should be in good physical shape. Alex and Alonso made us feel confident in repelling and made it even more fun with their sense of humor and their knowledge of the topography. Liliana made us a typical Costa Rican lunch and it was Delicious.

We had a blast! Both Alex and Jordin were wonderful, they made us feel comfortable and at ease. The food was delicious!!

We had an excellent experience at ABC Canyoning. Arturo picked us up from our hotel and took us to a picturesque outpost deep in the mountains. Arturo and Alonso fitted us with our gear and led us on a hike to waterfall after waterfall. The grand finale was a HUGE rappel down the middle of a waterfall and we got soaked! We felt very safe the whole time but it was a rush! After all the fun, we hiked back up to the outpost where we had the most delicious traditional Costa Rican lunch. The best food we had yet. 10/10 would recommend.

This was a perfect stay. The location, cleanliness, and views were great. The included breakfast was a treat especially since it starts at 645am so you can eat before any early tour. But, the best part, is the staff. Everyone from the front desk to the kitchen and cleaning staff were all super nice and genuinely wanted to make everyone's stay wonderful. Their communication through whatsapp was a great add too.

Gem of a place. Boutique luxury at an affordable price. The bathrooms felt luxurious, modern, and clean. The bed was nice. The A/C was strong. Staff was friendly and spoke English. The breakfast was good. It’s in town and walkable to all of the restaurants and shops. Fast WiFi and free parking.

Although we only spent one night as we were passing through on our way to Tamarindo, but we had a great time. They have all the amenities needed at this small hotel. Checking in was great with Fabricio! Overall, lovely hotel, close to restaurants and shops. Great up close and personal view of the volcano!

Truly wonderful place to stay. Convenient to walk to restaurants in town, but quiet and secluded. Daniel at the front desk is an exceptional host! He has excellent local knowledge and made some great recommendations. All of the staff here made us feel welcome.

Located in a good quiet place near the centroof La Fortuna. The rooms are bug and clean. The thing that was outstanding is the service, especially of the manager Josue - he listened to our traveling plans , added info from his experience and listened to our issues.

We were with Junior and David who were the best guides. We felt so safe while they found the best routes for us. We were with 2 kids 8 and 10 and when the guide felt we were good enough and the some other people were a bit sow he took us in a different faster route so we will get the maximum experience.

We absolutely loved our experience with Arenal Adventure ATV. If you're looking for the best place to ride in La Fortuna, this is it. What truly sets them apart is the convenience—the dedicated trails start right directly behind their office. This is huge! You don't waste any time driving 20 minutes to a separate starting point; you're on the dirt and riding immediately. The tour itself was fantastic. It was exactly what we were looking for: super muddy with some exciting water crossings that made the experience feel genuinely adventurous. It was a well-paced, high-octane ride. A huge shoutout to our guides Junior, Dylan, and David who were all amazing, ensuring safety while keeping the energy high!

Really fun outing! One of the highlights of our trip. Two 18 year old boys had a blast and I did too. Even my wife said it was fun. Junior was an excellent guide. Good quality Honda equipment. Prepare to get muddy, and bring towels and change of clothes. Their showers were great!

This was the best, funnest atv tour we have ever done and we have done MANY! David and Pedro were amazing and since it was just my partner & I they really made our experience very well worth it. My partner asked to do certain stretches again & David was more than happy to let us do whatever it is we wanted. He gave us plenty of independence so it didn’t feel so “touristy”. Pedro took my phone for the entire tour and got PLENTY of photos and videos of us doing all the most exciting obstacles. And yes, my phone was completely safe the whole time so don’t be afraid when they offer. The track was really awesome, plenty of water & mud to really get down & dirty in. We went through several small rivers, rode through the cassava farms, and then got taken to swim and tube in a gorgeous little river to wash all the muck away. The track we were taken on is definitely for a more advanced rider which is perfect as most atv tour tracks are extremely simplified & not anywhere near as fun as this one was. 10/10, would recommend this to anyone looking for some thrill & some REAL atving with views of the volcano throughout!

Amazing ATV adventure! Be ready to have fun and really go off roading. It is wet and muddy but that’s part of the fun. Our guides were helpful, enthusiastic and fun. Our teens loved it! Highly recommend! Kudos to Eric, David and Junior!

We randomly found this place on Google Maps and had a little time to spare. The worker walked us into the butterfly sanctuary let us loose to walk around. We were left alone to explore and enjoy the many different species of butterfly flying around. The worker did pop back in and give a little information but this is more of an enjoy in your own experience. Also on property is a small garden that has a large variety of fruit trees to see. After you are welcome to get a “free” (included in the admission price) smoothie. Definitely worth spending 30 min to an hour here.

Our kids have are sensitive to sensory overload and crowds. Both or 3 and 6 year old had a great time exploring the garden and learning about the life cycle of butterflies. Great 30-60 minute experience of nature and delicious smoothies in a calming environment with friendly staff.

Lovely little place, the butterfly garden is so pretty and there are a lot of different species flying around. There’s also a garden outside with lots of fruit trees. Nazareno was so nice, he explained a little bit about the butterflies and showed us some chrysalis, and then left us on our own for a while to just enjoy. And he made me the most delicious pineapple smoothie 🫶🏼

We just visited and it was amazing! The guy was very nice and informative and gave us a very thorough tour of the butterfly garden and fruit trees. He pointed out the caterpillars and pupas. He showed us the different fruit treees and cut up some fresh fruit right off the tree! He even made us some juice! He was passionate and knowledgeable and very kind! Highly recommend!

Argi was an amazing guide! We just showed up and he took us for a tour. His energy is so contagious you cannot stop laughing at his jokes and faces. This magical fruit garden where you can try and smell everything. Very educative. Butterflies dances are wonderful. Smoothie at the end feels so refreshing!! Would go back anytime

My girlfriend and I found this place randomly after completing some activities earlier in the day. We were greeted by Lola the dog, Carmelo the gray tabby cat and Argi, the worker there who absolutely loves his job. He gave us a drink of our choosing before we started the tour, we chose the pineapple drink and we were not disappointed. Argi then showed us the enclosed garden area where there were so many species of butterflies flying around and he explained which ones there are and what makes them special. Our personal favorite was the one that had the owl eyes and snake head pattern on the outer wing. After we got our fix of butterflies, Argi walked us through the garden where the tropical fruits were. Argi explained which fruits were what and also let us try some right off of the branches, all the while, Carmelo was following us playing as a second tour guide. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and Argi was a great tour guide and is an amazing asset to the company.

We had such a nice time visiting here. We saw so many different fruit trees and butterflies. The tour guide was very helpful and made us refreshing juice to quench our thirst.

I just had to share how impressed we were with our transport with Tropical Paradise Tours Costa Rica. Both to La fortuna and back to Liberia. Don Luis and Fabian were incredible! It was so nice to have safe, reliable transportation with our small children. They both were so kind and considerate and made this part of our journey stress free and enjoyable. Best tour company!! I communicated with the owner Rebecca Gomez weeks before my family and I arrived in Costa Rica and she was incredibly helpful, responsive, and friendly from the moment I contacted her. She arranged a whole series of tours for us and everything was managed so well. Rebecca thank you thank you thank you for making our stay in La Fortuna and transports from the airport and hotels while in Costa Rica the absolute highlights of our trip! Andres made us feel right at home and so comfortable arriving after overnight travel to get to San Jose and expertly navigating the winding roads to La Fortuna; our whitewater rafting excursion continues to be our kids favorite part of our trip even after learning to surf in Tamarindo and they have not stopped talking about their river guide Werner who found them over 10 sloths, native fruits, and medicinal leaves on our rafting tour: we can't recommend tropical paradise tours enough communication was easy and continuous before and during our trip; HIGHLY recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great service. Company provided transportation for 10 for 3 dinners in downtown La Fortuna. I contacted them before we arrived and gave them reservation time and date. Don Luis was our driver and we were enjoyed our ride. Nice not to worry about finding a ride for each meal. Thanks

She is incredibly knowledgeable and knows all the wonderful places to take you and what time of day is best to get there.
