Lavanda Café de Especialidad is a charming café in San Miguel de Allende that has been serving up exceptional Mexican specialty coffee since 2013. The café is committed to sourcing high-quality beans from various regions in Mexico, including Nayarit, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Michoacan, and Guerrero.
Pretty cafe, good menus both drinks and food Especially smth with lavender as they named their cafe. When I went there, it was a bit cold. And they gave me blanket to cover me which was so sweet! And they serve bread before we get food, it was really nice and smth like honey, i think it's guava ? Not sure, so so delicious. I wanted to take it with me haha And their drinks are good and the cake as well. Highly recommend!!

Love this place. Went here for a chai latte a week ago and have been back for breakfast 2 times since. Everything we've had was delicious. The apple marmalade that comes with the bread is delicious. Our servers were great both times. And the chai lattes are unbeatable. Can't wait to come back.
Molly W — Google review
This place is very cute and a trully coffee shop. When you come in, you instantaneously feel the coffee culture and not just a trendy coffee place. It is a place that invites you to learn a bit above the average about the cup of coffe you will order. I guess, I liked all the love and science they put into the whole coffee bussiness to increase consumers' knowledge and awerness of all the work that is behind a cup of coffee you will enjoy at their shop. Besides, the details of the location and the baristas' technique to get you a beautifull coffee foam design, thats it is also impresive to see because it shows practice. I got a coffee husk latte that was exceptional and unique and also a delicious guava cake. I just visited this place to grab a coffee but they carry out breakfast that seemed also very tasty. I got there right when they open at 8:30 am, it seems that they get quite busy all the time and a line stats when they run out of space inside, but staff seems to manage people flow quite alright.

If you are looking for the best breakfast in San Miguel de Allende, with a relaxed and fresh atmosphere, this coffeeshop is your best choice! We loved the lavender latte, latte de cáscara, pan francés, pan de plátano, and fresh fruit. They also have plenty of savory options and refreshing lemonades. The service was lovely and even brought us two portions of bread with jam for free! 10/10 recommend! 🤎❤️ Especially on the third floor if you are looking for a rooftop experience.
Viktoria M — Google review
Pretty good breakfast place! Loved the huevos rancheros! All the flavors of the dishes were yummmmm. Side bacon had no flavor
Nicole C — Google review
Good coffee for sure. If you are hungry, the Cazuela is very good. can be quite busy right there on the edge of the Mercado Artesanias. During our visit, the service was fairly slow. We were sitting up on the third level, and I think that they didn’t want to climb the stairs more than they had to.😅
Kevin M — Google review
I love the lavender latte here, it instantly calms me down from the smell and touch of real lavender on top of my latte foam. I will say, I expected more from the hype - it was recommended by everyone I know. I got the cazuela, and it was really good - again, nothing special and out of this world for the long wait line. As far as ambiance, maybe I was expecting a lot more again - I expected more garden vibes with lavender all over. But it was pretty basic, not much greenery. I did love their lavender cookie though, I highly recommend. It’s very sugary, but I just love the lavender icing on top, so good. I would come back for that coffee and cookie. 😍

It was a busy Wednesday but food and service was good, waiting time is about 20 minutes for food, overall it was a good time. Drinks are amazing.

Bakery
Located in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Cumpanio is a bakery and restaurant rooted in the culinary traditions of a Franco-Italian family that settled in Mexico over a century ago. This establishment offers artisanal bread and delightful breakfast options with a modern twist.
We bought pastries from next door and they were so good. The best was the individual pie. We got some coffee too and chai it’s okay, not the best. But the service was excelente en they let us sit in the restaurant since we got coffee to go with our pastry. The staff were the nicest and highly recommended going just to grave some coffee and some sweet treat.
Samantha — Google review
We had a our last breakfast of the trip here. Food was good, place was clean and lively, service was prompt. Worth a visit for bread, breakfast and coffee in a relaxed and somewhat upscale environment. I recommend finding a traditional breakfast spot if you don’t have many mornings in SDA.
Alex R — Google review
We had breakfast at Cumpanio and it was one of those experiences that just feels right in San Miguel de Allende. The space is beautiful—authentic, stylish, and full of character. It really captures the magic of the town. I had the chilaquiles de pollo and they were absolutely delicious—rich, comforting, and perfectly balanced. The coffee was good and satisfying, and the fresh bread was just as good as everyone says. Everything felt thoughtfully prepared and served with care. A lovely place to start the day, whether you’re a local or just passing through.
Gerardo F — Google review
From what some locals told us. This place has the best coffee. Being that I'm not a coffee drinker, I'll take their word for it. However, I will say they have an awesome array of delectable pastries that will blow your mind and taste buds to smithereens. The fragment smell is enough to make you gain 10 pounds. There's something to be said for fresh and wholesome ingredients. You can tell their pastries are prepared with love and your palate in mind. If you're thinking of going somewhere else for breakfast, coffee, or pastries, don't. You will only disappoint yourself.
Cameron — Google review
Had breakfast here on my first morning during a month long stay. It totally set the mood for the entire trip. I got the molletes and coffee along with a sweet treat. The bakery is popular and starts to get busy as soon as they open at 8 am. Will be back to try some baked goods.
WTG — Google review
Great place for breakfast close to the jardin. I went back twice. The first time I had the avocado toast and the second day I had an egg dish with salsa verde which was delicious! They have excellent coffee. We also saw someone bring their dog.
S. R — Google review
Delicious food (breakfast/brunch). Marsala Chai Latte was muy rico as well as their strawberry coffee ☕️

This is a place we stopped by during our wedding anniversary trip. It is 98 out of 100. 2 points is because there is no balsamic sauce. If France and Italy are the origins of cuisine, how can there be no balsamic? I could not forgive eating such delicious bread dipped in olive oil without balsamic. Other than that, it is an unforgettable restaurant that made our wedding anniversary trip so happy.

Chocolates y Churros San Agustín is a traditional café located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. The café is housed inside a charming 19th-century townhouse and is adorned with hanging baskets, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It's known for serving up delectable chocolate, churros, and savory snacks that are sure to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Well it definitely lived up to it's reputation as the best churros in SMA! I had a sencillo and a stuffed one with cajeta. It was really delicious and I highly recommend this place. Just keep in mind, they only take cash, no cards.
Carina S — Google review
They serve upscale food. I had the stuffed chicken breast. It was good, but not great. My husband had the fajitas. The churros and chocolate we're amazing. Nice quiet atmosphere, even though they are always packed.
Denice N — Google review
Café San Agustín is the place to go if you’re craving something sweet and absolutely magical. This churro spot is famous for a reason it truly lives up to the hype. We tried a few different options, and my personal favorite was the Lechera. If you love caramel, you won’t be disappointed. A close second was the Cajeta, also delicious. One note to take into consideration, this is a very popular place so don’t be in a rush when visiting, the staff put you on a waiting list and are super helpful. But bare in mind that you might need to wait 15 minutes. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth!
Johanna — Google review
The best churros I’ve had in my life. It was so addicting and just overall delicious. A lot of churros I’ve had before just feel too oily and I don’t go beyond 1 piece but this one, no. I could have had more pieces if I didn’t just come from a big meal. It was really that good. We also had an iced latte and iced chocolate and they had different options for the chocolate but we for the iced one, I think this is the only option. It was the French chocolate one and it was also delicious. Perfectly refreshing and perfectly paired with the churro. I would go back to SMDA just for this alone.
Nicole — Google review
San Agustín serves good churros. The place is so popular that you’ll likely have to wait quite a while, but the atmosphere is lovely and cosy, definitely worth the visit.
Angela M — Google review
Based on reviews I was expecting amazing churros, but what we got was pretty ordinary. The churros were not very hot and I believe they had been probably cooked prior to pur order. The Mexican hit chocolate was tasty, but my partner's iced white chocolate was underwhelming. In terms of atmosphere, no music playing and pretty dull. Maybe it was this way because it's a Monday. I still think you should give it a visit if you're around and craving churros.
E S — Google review
We visited this place for the first time in 2022, and it was amazing. Every Summer since then that we have returned, the quality of the churros and ice cream has diminished. We miss the old San Agustin. Please bring back quality food. Pieces have increased while quality has decreased. Thank you for considering.
Cynthia A — Google review
50 min wait for breakfast with place 1/3 full. Then food come cold. Tried churros on 2 separate occasions and they are making them fresh right there but they manage to serve them to us cold. Go somewhere else.

Panio is a cozy little spot that offers an array of delectable pastries and cakes. Visitors rave about the amazing chocolate eclair, lemon little basket, cinnamon cafe, and iced chocolate-coco drink. The eggs Benedict and poached eggs on avocado toast are described as phenomenal, showcasing the highest quality ingredients used in their dishes. This European-style café also serves top-notch coffee and food at affordable prices.
Pano is an upscale pastry, bread and bakery shop and all of SMA.. The food is incredible and the prices are hard to beat and the quality is fantastic but you have to come here on holidays because it’s saturated with holiday givings and at this particular location is where they bake everything AND they are sitting area is absolutely adorable and there’s a tree right in the middle of it going all the way from the bottom all the way to the ceiling and through the ceiling.
WrldTraveler18 — Google review
Nice little pastry/coffee shop! The chocolate croissant was delicious! I’m usually disappointed by too little chocolate and flavor, but this was perfect! Great service, and air conditioning, comfortable tables and chairs, and a great, laid back atmosphere. I will be back!
Vic F — Google review
Great place to buy a real pastry and cakes 😋 We stopped just for amazing chocolate éclair and lemon little basket, cinammon café and iced chocolate-coco drink for my son. Desserts are perfect, drinks were too sweet to my taste but this is often in Mexico… I highly recommend and would come back👍

Delicious, Greats Service Buuuuutt We came every day while staying at the hotel nex to, everyone was very friendly except a guy that seems to be the cashier or head waiter that was rude in very single interaction. All the staff is so nice except this man, no idea why they have them in service he should be in the back since he have no sense of service. Leaving behind this guy the rest is absolutely amazing, all the eggs, pastries, the bakery, juices. Highly recommended
Fran L — Google review
Totally worth it! First of all as you enter the smell of freshly baked bread will win you over. The boulangerie is open and you can see how they work and bake the different breads. Not only hard crust bread, sour baguette and amazing croissants but also typical mexican bread! The Christmas panettone was perfect. They also have a deli with cookies, jams, marmalades, wines, olive oil and some other goodies. The restaurant part is really nice and comfy with a fresh edgy design. The eggs benny were sooo good and the coffee was of really good quality. The service was good, fast and accurate. There are 4 parking spaces which makes it easy to go by car. Not super cheap but totally worth it!

We were heading out of SMA and our driver suggested we stop at this hip little French cafe. Wow, what a find! Amazing pastries, mimosas, and good coffee. I had avocado toast that I cannot stop thinking about.

Best bakery in town. They also serve breakfast. Try the poached eggs on focaccia bread or the baked eggs with salsa verde. The side of brioche bread is a must. Coffee is good if you like dark roasts, a bit too dark for my taste. Also very convinient location since its easy to get to without going all the way into town.

Being able to have coffee and a light meal while sorting out impressions at the end of our visit was excellent.

Fantatstic art and antiques galley. We walked there and back from the plaza in Centro. So many eye popping displays. I snapped these images before I realized they ask for no photos throughout. I feel like these images do not egregiously snub that request. I discovered many things. I discovered a few art classes and a new artist I will be following. Well worth a return!

The restaurant offers a variety of dishes made with high-quality ingredients and cooked with care. You can indulge in their tasting menu or choose from their international menu with traditional touches, featuring options like tuna tartare and shrimp aguachile.
Wonderful food and wine! The view is also lovely. I had the seabass, which was the fish of the day. It was amazing. My partner had the zumo salad which he loved. The wine, Malbec, was local and delicious. The service - they could not do enough for us!! Highly recommend if you’re in the area.

Great rooftop with a good view of both churches. The rooftop was virtually empty both times I went. They are listed as a "catering service" online which is maybe why they don't get the crowd but they deserve one!

What a view, what an experience. High atop the streets of San Miguel de Allende rest this incredible jewel. With breathtaking views of the bustling neighborhoods, this restaurant doesn't skip the small details. With top-notch wait service and staff. They thoroughly explain in great detail choice items on the menu. The food presentation is amazing, and high-quality ingredients are prepared with an equal level of attention. Depending on the time of day or year, be sure to bring warm clothes as it can be a little cooler than one would expect. Overall, this establishment is definitely a must experience. I really can't think of anything negative or any drawbacks. 5+ stars for a 10 start dining experience.

Degustation menu was devine. Just arrived in San Miguel De Allende and had a recommendation from abroad, so glad we went. Modern take on Mexican cuisine with an artistic flare. The matched wines a fabulous surprise, not all local.

Very attentive staff, beautiful rooftop, funky setting. Food was amazing, good selection of cocktails and extensive wine list. Amazing views! Carlos was a great waiter.

5 points for environment, 4 points for food quality, 2 points for value of food. The main issue is that I'm vegetarian and their menu was limited. I ordered a salad that was meant to come with crab cake, but I obviously asked for no crab. I think I still paid full price for what is pictured below...300 pesos for 150 calories worth of greens and a glass of wine seems excessive. That being said the staff seemed friendly, the views were good and the wine was decent.

Café Rama is a trendy and affordable eatery located just a short walk from the center of San Miguel. It offers a bohemian vibe, with mismatched furniture and contemporary art available for purchase, creating a vibrant atmosphere. The menu features familiar local and global offerings, including great breakfast options such as Mexican coffee, fresh juices, teas, eggs Florentine, huevos rancheros, and savory homemade desserts.
I'm SO GLAD we found this place! Came 2 days in a row so far because everything is so amazing. The manager Christian is so helpful and Hector is a phenomenal server. We've had the grand slam breakfast,, fish and chips, chicken pot pie and fettuccine pesto with shrimp.....everything is so flavorful and amazing. I definitely recommend!

Always great music at this place! Service can be a bit slow and food wasn't good. The calamari was greasy and had tons of batter. The vegan sandwich was lacking of flavour, but they were nice enough to split it in both plates, fries were on the cold side. But music was fantastic, so I'll just stick to drinks next time.

Live music is invariably available but we sit outside the stage/hall area as noise level and accoustics are both poor as well as the sound systems we heard which detracted greatly from some great individual talent on stage. Outside the performance area, there are a couple of seats at the bar and another six or so tables seating between 2 and 6 at each nearer the kitchen. Very friendly and helpful staff.

This place is a fantastic choice for brunch! Their menu features Mexican favorites such as enchiladas and huevos rancheros. The interior is charming, adorned with artwork by local artists, creating a welcoming atmosphere. We opted to sit outside and it was the perfect choice, allowing us to enjoy our meal in a more relaxed setting, away from the busyness and noise inside. The pricing is favorable, making it even more appealing. We make it a point to visit this cafe every time we're in SMDA, and we highly recommend it!

This is a lovely place full of eclectic art that add to the atmosphere. It is a refuge from the heat and dust of the nearby main drag. Service is prompt and the menu comprehensive and as eclectic as the artwork, and the patrons. The food varies from ok to real good. I had chicken soup with handmade tortillas and my SO had eggplant rolls stuffed with cheese in tomato sauce, both quite good.
Eddy P — Google review
Such a charming local cafe. Fantastic food from the complimentary chips and salsa and beans to the entrees and cake. We ordered the Jamaican drink with Hibiscus and cinnamon. Large serving and very flavorful. The soup of the day was Chicken and their take on this local classic included al dente veggies, which was a nice touch and made the soup much heartier. It was also served with the usual red onions, fresh cilantro, lime wedges, and avocado. Very tasty soup with a really good broth, which is key. We also ordered the pork panini, which was large enough to share, and included a lightly dressed salad with black sesame seeds, and a German potato salad. The pork was flavorful and tender and the flavors were a great combo on very good bread. Since my husband chose this cafe based on the desert selections, he had to get the carrot cake, which was very moist, dense and not too sweet. All in all, a great meal in a charming setting. We dined outside, but there are two dining rooms inside. The one with a fireplace would be a cozy spot on cold nights. Highly recommend and we'll be back to enjoy their highly popular Chilaquiles for breakfast/brunch. 4.5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Flea & Street Markets
Ignacio Ramírez Market, located in the northeastern fringe of Centro, is a bustling and vibrant market offering a wide variety of goods. Visitors can find fresh produce from local farmers, meat from butchers, and freshly pressed tortillas. The market also features food stalls serving delicious dishes like milanese tortas and roasted goat and chicken soup. Additionally, there are vendors selling handmade tortillas, carnitas, cut fruit with cayenne, as well as household essentials.
This place has everything. There are a lot of local venders, artists and produce. Also if you are looking for souvenirs they have all of them for a decent price.
Jonathan Y — Google review
Great market attended by mostly locals, which is reflected by the low prices. I've been to lunch there twice, and both cost 70-80 pesos each.
Brian P — Google review
Nice place, good products, nice fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds with good prices. Vendors were nice. I thought 20 pesos for the bathroom was a bit on the high side, but overall it was pleasant there with the live music and artisenal crafts. I REALLY appreciated that when I bought a bottle a water and forgot to get my change (from a woman cooking gizzards and livers in the open air area), a lady chased me down halfway across the market to tell me they were just making change and to come back for my change. We had a nice laugh about it, and I'll go back there to get some of whatever they're cooking just because I appreciated that honesty so much. After getting ripped off in other places, it helped restore some of my faith in humanity. There are still good people in the world and at least some of them are in Ignacio Ramirez.

Nice place to explore like a locals. See what is on the market, the local commodities. Fresh flowers, food courts with local foods, fresh produce, local snacks. I enjoy this place. Nice.

Artisans, fruits 🍎 veggies 🥕 pollo 🍗 ropas y sombreros (hats) and small restaurants are all inside. Definitely worth a visit if your in SMA. Locals and gringos shop there so you know it’s legit.

A large variety of items. Very colorful, lots of food stands. Some stands of fabrics and hats seemed a bit overpriced.
Lucho B — Google review
It seems everything to buy is at least 30% cheaper than Centro shopping even when identical (and most is). Massive variety of gifts, household decorations, linens, ceramics, aprons, clothing, jewelry etc. etc. At the bottom of the market, keep walking straight through, to further market alleys, for rare costume jewelry and superb leather belts and also dolls, as examples... The top market is mainly fruit and veg, dried fruits and flowers. Should not be missed!

El Petit Four is a charming bakery in San Miguel de Allende, known for its delightful selection of cakes, brownies, and bonbons. The openly gay chef Paco Cardenas runs the establishment and offers custom-designed erotic cakes upon request. Additionally, El Petit Four provides highly informative cooking classes led by the charismatic Cardenas. Since 1998, this gourmet pastry shop has been delighting visitors with delicious treats such as pan au chocolat and almond-filled croissants.
A wonderful French pastry restaurant. The giant filled croissants are amazing. The court yard is open to the elements and has small birds coming in to eat the crumbs on the floor. The ornamental water feature adds a restful sound to the ambiance. I always take an almond croissant to go.

We stumbled upon this place by just walking the streets, my wife and I loved it! The plates are small but delicious, the prices are fare. My wife had the "2-baked eggs in tomato sauce with poblano pepper strips", and I had the "two slices of toasted brioche with smoked salmon" (even though it was delicious, I wish the toast had a different type of bread so it didn't fall apart, but hey, that's just me). The pastries at the pastry counter are delicious too. Overall, a good place to grab a bite in the morning.
Mario C — Google review
If you're looking for a quaint, cozy place in a beautiful setting with exceptional pastries this is your place! If you sit close to the kitchen the chef will surely stop to show you what he just made. We couldn't decide on one pastrie so we tried a few. All were perfect but our favorite one was the pear cake. There is a large selection of coffee to accompany the many options of pastries. We also tried chilaquiles accompanied with black beans that the chef was nice enough to split for two. If you're not wanting coffee & pastries, their lunch menu is equally amazing.

Charming, well executed bakery. The breakfast was phenomenal and the desserts to die for. We had breakfast and then took dessert to go. The pecan pie was unbelievable and the chocolate “voodoo of a cake” was divine.

Beautiful cafe with delicious pastries and food! We went there twice daily for morning coffee and lunch during our stay. The owner Paco was very friendly. The atmosphere was wonderful, full of lush plants and artworks on the wall. We were thrilled that we found this place! While we were there we met an Italian couple who also visited it daily and said they enjoyed their meals very much. Such a hidden jam! A must for every visitor in San Miguel. It’s just steps away from the center of town.

***CASH ONLY*** Such a charming bakery in a fabulous setting. Enter and go up the stairs. Turn left and order at the counter or sit at a table for a small breakfast menu and pastries. I ordered the fruit (apples, raisins and maybe dates?) wrapped in philo with powdered sugar on top. Very tasty and what a cute setting. I worked here for an hour at the table with a view. Friendly service. I'd definitely return for another treat. What a great setting to meet up with friends or for a romantic date. 4.5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐

I have bought pastries here dozens of times, but today decided to have breakfast. I had the baked eggs in tomato sauce with poblano peppers and cheese. Delicious. And it came with perfectly crispy toasted and buttery baguette slices. Delicious! EDIT: On another visit, I had the bacon and black olives quiche with the most delicious salad I’ve had in a while. Wonderful high-quality greens. Oh, and the quiche was delicious, too!

Nestled in a quiet corner of San Miguel, Cafe Buen Dia is a charming little spot that promises a delightful start to your day. This cozy cafe features an inviting indoor area on the ground floor, perfect for those cooler mornings. However, the real magic happens on the top-floor terrace where you can bask in the fresh air while sipping on their exceptional coffee and soaking up the beautiful surroundings.
Charming cafe offering a nice variety of breakfast/brunch options. We had the green chilaquiles, pan danes, and pancakes. Everything was delightful! They also brought out some warm bread with butter and a fresh guayaba spread. The matcha latte was perfect, and the café americano had complimentary refills.

Starbucks is a Seattle-based coffeehouse chain that offers its signature roasts, light bites, and WiFi access. One of its branches in San Miguel stands out for its spacious layout with high ceilings just off Plaza El Jardin. Despite being part of a ubiquitous coffee chain, this location is known for its charming central courtyard, late opening hours, and comfortable seating inside. It also provides WiFi and attracts a diverse crowd, making it an appealing spot for enjoying a coffee drink.
This is a very good addition to San Miguel. Right on the central square, and the open for coffee much earlier than anywhere else ( seven thirty am on weekdays, a little later on weekends) and air conditioned as well , a blessing as I was there during a hot spell in June. It is set up with comfortable seating and electricity and outlets for all the usual electronic device needs. They have a lovely courtyard and a bathroom available to customers, not always easy to find during the day when not dining out.

Why Is this Starbucks more expensive than any other in Mexico? More than in Mexico city or Querétaro, the difference is like 22 pesos per drink, unfair for locals ,not all the people in San Miguel are tourists... and the worst doesn't have a toilet! That's just rubbish, this is the first Starbucks I've been that doesn't have one,not even with the expensive drinks they can provide this service .and the drinks are not tasty .

I love this little bakery and have been coming here for the last twenty years. I usually stop by three to five times per week whenever I’m in town. I love their empanada de papa con queso (32 pesos) and their bran muffins. The lovely ladies who work behind the counter are always so friendly.

Mercado Sano is a trendy market and food hall that offers a variety of experiences. The upstairs area hosts live music and houses a Sri Lankan restaurant. On Saturdays, there's an extended organic market with products from local vendors.
I came here for the juice on a recommendation and it's fabulous! I'm a green juice fan, but unlike in Mexico City where you can find fresh juice stands everywhere, it's much more challenging to find places that make fresh green juice in San Miguel de Allende. This one is 80 pesos and already made daily and in a pitcher for quick service. Drink it inside at one of the many tables or outside on the front patio, protected from the street by a wall. I've been twice so far and the service is very friendly. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I'm a pan dulce lover. I can always tell when the bread is fresh and when it's old. I was super excited to try this place since I was visiting all the way from Texas and a TikTok account made this place sound amazing. The bread is dry and covered in bees. The lady that seems to be the manager is super rude. Not pleasant/not welcoming at all. This place is not anything to be excited about. Bummer.
Rachel M — Google review
This really is a great bakery. Lots of locals which is always a good sign. I literally went every day for Six days straight. Grab a tray and some tongs and load er up. The empanadas are particularly good. They seem to run out so go earlier in the morning for the best selection. Everything else I tried was quite good also (I didn’t try the bread though - looked pretty standard). I kept hoping for the Mexican brownies but they never seemed to have them. I guess they sell out pretty quickly when they put a batch out. Very reasonable prices. Don’t be put off by the atmosphere - a few bees never killed anyone (unless you are allergic I suppose) I’ve seen worse at many Tim Hortons. highly recommend!
Tim E — Google review
The staff there was super friendly and helpful in helping us and answering our questions about the pandemic dulce and bolillos. The pan dulce was delicious, too. A perfect dessert. I ordered two arrachera sandwiches today, and I have to say, I’m very disappointed. Each sandwich was $180 pesos, and they had barely any meat—just a thin layer that was hardly satisfying. On top of that, the veggies were almost nonexistent. For that price, I expected a lot more substance and quality. Also, what’s going on with the menu? It’s way too wordy! Why make it so complicated when the actual food doesn’t live up to the descriptions? Simplicity and quality go hand in hand, and unfortunately, this place missed the mark on both. The workers are very nice, but sadly, that doesn’t make up for the lackluster food.

Great Italian bakery. My go-to place three times a week. It's really needed. It's very different than having a Mexican bakery. The u.s. is more used to this type of bake goods.

Rosewood San Miguel de Allende is a luxurious hotel with elegant accommodations, three outdoor pools, and tennis facilities. The hotel also offers dining options and a rooftop bar for guests to enjoy. The director of the hotel promises an exceptional experience for food and luxury hospitality enthusiasts, featuring renowned chefs and creative artists to elevate the overall experience for visitors.
Dinned at the posh rooftop restaurant. Food was delicious but the servings were tapa sized portions. My partner had to order a second plate because he was still hungry. The food was flavorful and tasted great. We had the pork tacos, sopes chicken and lobster. The drinks were extremely strong but they did fix it by adding ingredients. The service was excelent as well as the thoughtfulness of the staff. They provided thick luxury throws to keep warm and heaters throughout. Theviews are spectacular and the atmosphere is perfect for socializing. The price for dinner was expensive for being in mexico and for the amount of food provided.

Overall a good experience. We stayed in one of the 5 bedroom villas which was beautiful and provided plenty of space for the family. The concierge assigned to us, Alina Pedroza was excellent. She was quick to respond and helped us with a couple of unfortunate medical conditions. The spa was excellent. Well maintained and staffed. We had brunch at the 1826 restaurant and it was very good. The service there was excellent on the couple of occasions we dined there. Luna at the rooftop has a great view and vibe. The service leaves a lot to be desired. They are short staffed. I also recommend you ask them to serve any drinks from the bottle at the table to assure you get what you ordered. I found our waiter to be fast and loose with that.

We had an extended 5-day stay here in December 2024 and enjoyed situating ourselves at this hotel for exploring San Miguel and the surrounding area. The breakfast each morning was superb. Our allocated room was spacious and well appointed. If there is one area for improvement, it would be the service level. While the property was beautiful, the service throughout the property was not consistent nor to the level expected of a Rosewood property. That being said, we would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

This is an absolutely stunning resort. The grounds are magnificent, the staff is incredibly attentive. Are the prices a bit steep? Sure, but it’s a luxury brand. It’s quiet, but we are here in the off season. We paid for the American breakfast as part of our stay, and it’s a ginormous amount of food each morning! We also got a deluxe rooftop suite for the extra large patio, but honestly, I’d skip that next time because we didn’t use it much. Walking distance to centro, Ubers are cheap and plentiful. If you’re looking for a hopping party place, this is not the place. But if you want to feel pampers and relax in a beautiful setting, this is it!
Cheryl J — Google review
We've been to the rooftop restaurant and bar maybe six times or more. The sunsets are great, food not bad but not memorable, service is attentive and friendly. Prices though are very high so at least for of our visits was just a sunset drink and a shared starter or two. This day there were 8 of us, all eating at a raised table focused on the sunset and evening sky. Go at least once to check out the view and maybe take a drink and a snack before committing to a pricey meal!
Theangusmcleod — Google review
Lovely resort, but beware of subpar service and lower levels due to cockroaches and spiders. Also, despite paying a couple of thousand dollars per night for a villa they will charge you extra on your bill to remove the insects! What a contrast from the many other luxury resorts and hotels I've stayed at. My husband and I booked a 4 bedroom villa for the family for several days. It was lovely, but I wish housekeeping took care of the cockroaches in advance. The first night my husband and I couldn't sleep due to several cockroaches in the bathroom & bedroom we were sleeping in, and his attempts to remove them. A manager informed us she would work with housekeeping to remove them the following day. That did happen fortunately, but then we had numerous mosquitoes in the room as well as large spiders on the bedroom curtains. The manager mentioned housekeeping would help with that in the evening. Fortunately, there were no longer spiders the following morning. When we checked out we were charged for Raid, off spray etc. on the bill. This perturbed me because of the principle. We spent a couple of thousand dollars per night on this villa, and the manager felt it necessary to tack on an additional cost to resolve issues that we shouldn't have had to experience to begin with. As a seasoned traveler, I can tell you that the majority of luxury resort/ hotels would try and make amends for a negative experience in addition to resolving the issue- rather than actually charge you an additional amount to resolve the issue.
Romita J — Google review
I had high expectations for this property and it somehow exceeded them. The team was so knowledgeable and friendly. Guadalupe (Spa) and Marisol (Housekeeping) were especially lovely! On the way to our next destination, we realized we forgot our passports. Within a few hours, the Rosewood team had coordinated a courier to deliver them to us that very same day which saved the trip.
Ellyn S — Google review
This was the #1 hotel stay of my life--in all 38 countries I have visited. I have never been welcomed so warmly and with such kindness. The attention to detail at this place is just out of this world. I've stayed in much more expensive places where the service was NOT at all on this level. Every staff member greeted me by name, was incredibly punctual for all the services I booked, and made my time in San Miguel spectacular. The new on-site restaurant, Pirules, is also one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Also, what a BEAUTIFUL property. My one complaint--which did not take away from the beauty of my experience--is the exorbitant price for playing tennis. I had to pay USD $50 to rent the court for one hour, even while no one was using either court, and then an additional USD $25 to rent a racquet and balls. The racquets were all old and unrecognizable brands, so they didn't warrant that price. I feel that tennis as an amenity should be included since it's there anyway, and if it's a paid service, it should be MUCH cheaper. Fancy ski resorts in Colorado with nationally-recognized tennis teams don't even charge that much for their courts. Still, I had a fantastic time and will 100% stay here again in the future!

Nestled just a stone's throw from the vibrant Jardin Principal, Café Umarán is a charming spot that perfectly captures the essence of San Miguel. This stylish café boasts an inviting atmosphere with its exposed brick walls and lush greenery, making it an ideal place to unwind. Whether you're in the mood for artisanal bread, specialty coffee, or delectable pastries like their Nutella-filled croissant and cheesecake rolls topped with berries, there's something to satisfy every palate.
The most beautiful ceiling light fixtures art i have ever seen. The service is amazing with smiles. Cappuccino excellent and I had a pleasant pastry that was fantastic.

The place is really nice but somewhat small. The service is good. The food is okay but a bit expensive for the size. I’m not sure i loved the avocado toast with hard boiled eggs. And the portion is small for the price.

One of favorite cafes in SMA! Beautifully decorated with exposed brick walls and overhanging tree. The coffees and food are delicious and the presentation is perfect. But honestly it’s the staff - specifically Ali. She remembered our order as soon as we sat down. This is a busy cafe close to the plaza, I know she has a lot of customers. This is the kind of hospitality that is rare. ❤️

Very popular cafe, with limited seating. Fresh pastries and small plates. Always busy here, so be prepared to wait. Service is average and can be slow. Inside seating only.

Beautiful cafe with horrible chilaquiles . The croissant sandwiches are delicious. The Guanajuato chilaquiles style is totopos with a sour tomato sauce that is watery and has no flavor. Jalisco chilaquiles are better. The cinnamon rolls are small and pretty much pure sugar. Cafe de olla is delicious.

Panina, founded by Paulina Carreno in 2020, is a sun-filled bakery run by a small team of women. They offer all-you-can-eat sourdough pizza nights on Thursdays and cooking classes. The bakery is known for its delicious sourdough and amazing bagels, although they are not vegan-friendly. The atmosphere is reminiscent of an East London hipster bakery/cafe, with a great Americano that resembles a Long Black.
A must visit in SMA! 1) super pet friendly! They brought out a water bowl and freshly made dog treats for our dog 2) the bread is delicious! We had a concha and it was the best concha I’ve had in SMA! 3) the coffee is delicious and they have a lot of options 4) the food is also delicious! We had two orders of Turkish eggs because they were so good! 5) the staff is super attentive and friendly!

The sourdough is really good and the Bagels look amazing but aren't vegan so i couldn't have one. Everyone in the Bakery are very focused, reminds me of a East London hipster bakery/cafe. The Americano is the closest to what I call a Long Black in town. Great medium roast, super tasty. Would love to see some more vegan options as I would happily eat here as the food does look good.

Great coffee & cappuccino. Delicious omelette breakfast, lovely presentation. (Forgot to take photo of my plate) Bacon was meaty & crisp. Fluffy warm bread with yummy strawberry jam. Nestled in the charming town of San Miguel, Wafflessence de Paul is a delightful café that brings a taste of Belgium to Mexico. Opened by Marie-Pascale Gerard and her son Paul in January 2023, this cozy spot specializes in authentic Liege waffles—round, not rectangular—crafted from family recipes passed down through generations.
A unique Belgian dining experience in San Miguel de Allende. The Belgian hot chocolate is rich, smooth, and not too sweet. The savory waffle with creamed scrambled eggs and smoked salmon was delicious, and the coffee was smooth and creamy even before I added a spot of milk. Next time, we try the sweet waffles.

Amazing Belgian waffles made by amazing Belgians! Staff is amazing, friendly, and willing to share their culture and history! Plus, the waffles are warm and delicious! I can also recommend the Belgian hot chocolate!

I was suprised to find a Belgian waffleplace in San Miguel de Allende. So happy that I found this place on my trip here. I was welcomed here with a big smile by fellow Belgians. Real Belgian Waffles in Mexico, amazing!! A must stop for every Belgian (and waffle lover) when you're in the area!
Wouter — Google review
Paul and Marie-Pascale are there to welcome you and make you feel at home. We ended up trying everything on the menu- the food is delicious. I had a savory waffle with filet-American from the presentation to the taste it was wonderful. I would recommend finding this place for a coffee or lunch. We sat at the bar but there are tables for larger groups….and if you are taller than Paul you get a sweet waffle on the house.
Graham S — Google review
These authentic Belgian waffles are a must taste!! All ingredients that Paul and his mom Marie use to make these waffles come from Belgium. The pearl sugar, which has been manufactured by their family for generations, give these dessert waffles a sweetness and crunch that regular breakfast waffles lack. I had a warm waffle with chocolate bars—two thin bars are inserted in the middle of the waffle—it was delicious!! Whether you order savory or sweet waffles, you will be glad you stopped by. Aside from waffles, you can purchase mousse du chocolat, cookies, waffle mix, chocolate cream, etc. They also prepare waffles for special occasions. Visit Paul and Marie at their new location inside Casa Europa. And if you happen to be taller than Paul, your waffle will be free! 🙂 Enjoy.

Amazing for kids, service incredible and lovely waffles! Belgian owners, that give you advice on best waffles to choose
Adriana M — Google review
Saw this place when going to a play nearby and noticed they had a sign if you were taller than the owner, Paul, you’d get a free waffle. Lucky for me they stayed true to their word and gave us a delicious Belgian waffle! It was sweetened with beet sugar as I learned is the European way. Believe it or not Paul was the 7 generations of beet farmer so im sure it’s true to the tradition. Highly recommend their iced coffee as well!

The lemon meringue cake stands out as a must-try treat, offering just the right balance of sweetness.
Gabriel was our server and his service was excellent! We tried the new menu and it was all delicious! Everyone enjoyed their food. Coco coffee was very good. Very kid friendly and the baked pastries were very fresh.

Panio felt more towards the touristy vibe as opposed to an authentic bakery vibe. The irony is that it probably has a rich history of baking breads and pastries. The chocolate eclair we ordered hit the spot. The filling was light and not too sweet. The pastry part had the right texture. Whether you want to pick up something to take home from your trip or eat it during your stay in San Miguel, Panio has got you covered.

Drinking the last sips of my coffee…. I chocked on this thing, which seem to be the part of cardboard from the milk box ? Which was at the bottom of my cup…. On the top of that : Very very slow service…. Even though they are 5 behind the counter…. They are very nice, just go there thinking its at least a 15-20 minutes project to get a coffee…. Even if its not very busy….. The coffee is bad. It has a burnt taste. It was served more as a boiling latte…. I asked for a cappucino.

Best bread in town. The service is good generally speaking. I go there very often to get by bread fix or and breakfast and lunch. Most of the time the service is really good. But time to time you get an anticlimactic server which feels odd in comparison to most of the servers who are very polite, friendly and welcoming

Homemade pasta is pretty bad. To make it worse, it came cold. I had them heat it up, and based on what came back I'm sure it went in the microwave. No flavor even when warm (pesto pasta) I even added salt! I asked for them to take it off my bill and they wouldn't -- I didn't even eat it. Not going back out of spite even though I think their other dishes looked good.
Irene H — Google review
Staff totally ignored our table. At one point there were 11 staff behind the counter and none of them were looking at customers. Friend ordered onion soup - got tomato. 3 friends ordered cappuccino - got one of those 1970s layered coffees. A friend order a cake and no cutlery arrived. The server brought food to people, then went back for cutlery, then was asked for the bill, served someone else, the brought the bill, then went back for the credit card reader - and they did this every time. When we wanted to order the server ignored us and a new person had to come out of the kitchen to take our order. There were no physical menus - only a QR code carved into a piece of wood.

Everything was delicious. Eggs Benedict, eggs campesino, molletes. Coffee is much improved versus past visits (and the cups DO have handles). The service was good - not lightening fast but it’s not a “fast food” restaurant.

We arrived at the Panio Luciérnaga branch in San Miguel de Allende. We ordered a sourdough bread among other things. The branch where we usually buy it has a bread slicer, but here they sell you the whole loaf, which is very large and needs to be sliced. We asked to speak with the manager, who we were told is named Francisco Sosa, to let him know that the other Panio branches deliver it sliced. The manager was not present, and conveniently, there was no person in charge at the branch. There is no one responsible in this branch, and since they opened, it has always been this way; no one attends to any complaints of any kind. We live very close to this branch, but this is the last time we are coming. The service is terrible, there is no one responsible, and if they are dedicated to selling bread and don't even have a bread slicer, then they might as well stay as a restaurant and not sell bread.

There is absolutely nothing good to eat or drink here. Only come here if you have children...or you're really into high sugar and low quality drinks and pastries. However, my daughter and sister-in-law tremendously enjoyed their being able to let the kids go nuts.

Bakery
Nestled along the vibrant Stirling Dickenson, Panaderia Miga is a feast for the eyes with its colorful and beautifully painted exterior that exudes a delightful Mexican charm. This bakery is seamlessly connected to Amores, a cozy café where you can indulge in an array of artisan baked goods. Whether you're on the hunt for sourdough or nostalgic treats reminiscent of classic American snacks, Miga has something special to offer.
Went in to see if I could find some sourdough bread and came out with what I thought was an American hostess Ding Dong? When I went home and tried it I was amazed it was just like the old style hostess Ding dongs. You can't get these anymore anywhere else that I've found.

I meet a friend for breakfast here frequently. The coffee is some of the best in town. Parking is easy in the paid lot across the street.
Scott W — Google review
The best place to brunch in the town! This is by far the best bread, coffee and food to eat in addition the restaurant is a beautiful and comfy place to be at! I highly recommend it! You have to visit this bakery and restaurant if you visit SMA.
Bulma B — Google review
Delicious bread and Danish. Breakfast at the café within was awesome. Great service.
René S — Google review
Cute and authentic spot to have breakfast or coffee or pick up some baked goods made with love!
Liah A — Google review
Latte cold. Service poor. Hollandaise and avo toast (and egg) cold. Servers are not trained…Seems to be a theme in SMA😢…I would love this place to succeed..too many disappointments..
Alana K — Google review
Nice cafe to have a great breakfast and wonderful coffee. Many awesome items on the menu and very pleasant atmosphere.
Mark R — Google review
The best butter bread! no other flavor like this in SMdA Only bad is how soon they close and the fact that they don’t open on Sunday

Nestled in the heart of the city, Sophia Pedrazzi Cake Boutique, also known as Sophie Fine Bakery, is a delightful haven for dessert lovers. Since its opening in October 2023, this charming little bakery has quickly become a go-to spot for an array of delectable pastries and beautifully hand-decorated cakes. Visitors rave about their butter cake and seasonal offerings that change regularly, ensuring there's always something new to try.
Our family ordered a variety of tasty treats from Sophie’s. We ordered cookies, cheese cakes and delicious yummy dessert squares. The best in San Miguel de Allende.
David Z — Google review
Small bakery offering great desserts. The selection is limited but both times I went the quality was great. They also have some sandwiches. Seatinv is limited but well done. One great bonus: they actually pack your purchases like a cake shop should, which makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Absolutely PHENOMENAL pastries, cheesecake & cookies!!! Our family had a sweets craving & decided to order a plethora from the menu & every item was DIVINE!!!! Highly highly recommend!!

I wish I had photos to share, but everything was eaten too quickly. Truly the most decadent desserts, beautifully presented! I stop in every time I’m in the area just to try something new. And wow, her cookies! Absolutely the BEST in SMA!

(Translated by Google) Clean and tidy place, great variety of desserts and drinks, as well as ice popsicles... The desserts are not bad at all and their prices are moderate 👌🏼 (Original) Lugar limpio y ordenado, gran variedad de postres y bebidas, ademas de paletas de hielo... los postres no estan nada mal y sus precios son moderados 👌🏼

(Translated by Google) The pastries are delicious, they are desserts made daily, I would have liked a better coffee option to accompany them, since drinks are obviously not their forte, another thing I also noticed is that they do not have many options, although the few are good and they told us that they change according to the season, the place is small but cozy, it is worth making a stop if you walk through the area, the carrot cake is the best...

(Translated by Google) The service left a lot to be desired. The coffee was average, and the desserts were delicious, but they lacked authenticity. (Original) El servicio dejo mucho que desear El café muy regular y los postres son ricos, sin embargo no hay autenticidad.

This place is STUNNING 🤩 & a total gem That you would never find unless you stepped in the retail store in front of it that takes you through to it.

A small coffee shop inside a courtyard off the street. They have various teas and coffees as well as a few cold drinks. Small snacks are available, including freshly made crepes. Credit cards accepted.
Ted E — Google review
Terrible coffee. Really. All I could taste was milk with a slight hint of coffee.I don’t understand why is it so hard to find a decent cup of coffee in this town? When I was in Oaxaca coffee was excellent throughout. Here it’s been a disaster. I’m baffled. All those people that posted glorious coffee reviews, please try a good coffee so you can taste the difference.
Max S — Google review
We found this little café in a quiet yard in the center surrounded by many plants and enjoyed our afternoon coffees there. They also had a really nice carrotcake and we enjoyed coming back for a break from the hectic streets.
