Nestled in the heart of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle, Sigiriya Village Hotel offers a village-themed experience with warm bungalows set amidst landscaped grounds. The property features open-air dining, an outdoor pool, and an Ayurvedic spa for relaxation. Situated near various restaurants and attractions like Sigiriya Museum and Minneriya National Park, the hotel provides easy access to explore the area.
When we booked this place, we weren’t entirely sure if it was the right choice for us, but we were pleasantly surprised the moment we arrived. The restaurant area was spacious and lively, featuring wonderful live music that evening. The artist playing the guitar and saxophone was truly amazing, creating a vibrant atmosphere that felt no less than a 5-star experience. The food was delicious, with plenty of options and impressive live counters being the highlight. Our room was clean and offered a charming village-style experience. The property itself is expansive, with enough activities to keep you engaged for an entire day. The hotel service was exceptional—they went above and beyond to make our little one’s birthday truly special. Thank you very much for such a memorable stay! We will definitely be coming back again.

The staff at Sigiri village hotel were truly outstanding. They were always smiling, and they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. The restaurant staff were particularly attentive, and the food was delicious. We especially appreciated their flexibility with our meal requests. The concierge was also very helpful in arranging tours and transportation. We would definitely stay here again!"

Excellent location right near Sigiriya Rock Fortress with stunning views. The hotel offers a perfect base for exploring one of Sri Lanka's most iconic attractions. The rooms are comfortable and well-appointed, providing a good balance of comfort and value. The staff is friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with tour arrangements and local information. The gardens are beautiful and peaceful, offering a serene retreat after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast is hearty and delicious. The proximity to Sigiriya means you can catch sunrise at the rock fortress without traveling far. Great for both leisure travelers and those on cultural tours. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Sigiriya area.

We had a wonderful stay at Village Hotel Sigiriya. The room was clean and comfortable, the ambience was peaceful, and the food was excellent. The pool was a highlight, and all the staff were very courteous. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway.

Sigiriya Hotel offers a wonderful stay surrounded by nature and breathtaking views of the Sigiriya Rock Fortress. It offers a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, perfect for relaxing after exploring the surrounding areas. 👉📍The hotel management should be concerned about the rooms and the comfort and well-maintained 📌🥹 The staff is friendly, attentive and always ready to help. The pool and garden area are beautiful, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Sigiriya.
Lakmal W — Google review
The location is excellent — you can enjoy a stunning view of Sigiriya (The Lion Rock) right from the swimming pool. The food was tasty, and the buffet, while not offering a huge variety of fancy dishes, was still satisfying and well-prepared. Reception staff were very helpful, especially Mr. Manjula, who gave us excellent service during both check-in and check-out. The rooms are a bit old, but clean and comfortable. The bed was cozy, the AC worked well, and complimentary tea and coffee were provided. In the bathroom, you’ll find soap and napkins, but no toothpaste or toothbrushes, so bring your own. The atmosphere was peaceful and surrounded by greenery — perfect for nature lovers looking to relax.
Rajitha D — Google review
Sigiriya Village Hotel is a nice resort-style property with peaceful surroundings and charming touches like ducks roaming around. It’s best suited for at least a two-night stay; if you’re only there for one night to do Sigiriya and Pidurangala hikes, it feels overpriced since you won’t have time to enjoy the resort. Rooms are quite basic with minimal amenities (you may even need to ask for room slippers), so don’t expect luxury. Breakfast is decent but limited, with a mix of Western, South Indian, and Chinese options. One odd downside is the dress code at breakfast: men aren’t allowed to wear shorts or sleeveless t-shirts, while women can. This feels inconsistent, especially since the pool is right next to the restaurant. Most guests are from South Asia, with fewer Western travelers compared to cheaper alternatives nearby. Overall: Great for a relaxing 2+ night stay in nature, but less value for short visits. ⭐ Rating: 3/5
Avin V — Google review
The hotel grounds had a unique, village vibe with convenient outdoor parking within the premises. Also The staff were friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a ‘Superior Cottage’ room, which featured a clean and spacious bathroom. However, the room itself felt quite outdated, lacking the modern touches one would expect at this price point. Simple comforts like rugs near the bed and bathroom entrance were missing, which affected the overall coziness of the space. The hotel is conveniently located around 2 km from Sigiriya Rock. While it is technically walkable, we chose to drive, as there’s still a roughly 1 km walk from the car park to the entrance. A disappointing experience was the unavailability of enough drinking water in the room. Despite our request, the staff were unable to provide complimentary water bottles and instead advised us to purchase a 1-liter bottle for an unreasonable price of 540 Rupees a clear markup that felt unfair and exploitative. This is even illegal in Sri Lanka as the Gazette clearly says 1 Liter water bottle should sell 100 rupees only. Overall, while the setting and friendliness of the staff were positives, the lack of basic facilities, outdated rooms, and poor value for money made the stay disappointing. For the price paid, the hotel did not meet expected standards of comfort and service.

My friend and I stayed two nights in hotel sigriya. Staff welcomed us with refreshing drinks, very friendly and attentive. Room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Washroom was clean, with all the amenities. I loved the peaceful and beautiful green surroundings. The view of the Lion Rock from the pool was spectacular. The manager of the restaurant was very caring, he sent fruit with my friend to the room, when I didn’t go for dinner, was not feeling well, other staff member were also concerned. We felt safe and truly looked after. Only small issue was that at breakfast time I asked the chef three times to make fried egg, otherwise everything was ok. Live music in the evening was good. Very relaxing place. I definitely recommend this hotel.

Had a great experience at Hotel Sigiriya. Our stay was completely enjoyable. Excellent location. Just 01 km from the lions rock. Arrival was smooth. Warmly welcomed by the reception team. Welcome drink was fresh and tasty. The room and facilities were great. It was cleaned and well equipped. They had arranged nice bed decoration. The food was delicious. I loved heath corner. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Most of them speak English. We experienced jeep safari for kaudulla national park. If you also wants to experience, just inform the reception. They have contacts and do all necessary arrangements. Also need to mention about the bar. They have a variety of beverages at reasonable price. Location of the bar is ideal. Overall, the experience at Hotel Sigiriya was amazing. Thanks team for heartfelt service. ❤️ 💙

We had a wow experience at the hotel. I have travelled many hotels but, I feel that I'm with my family. We wanted a place to relax. So we selected hotel sigiriya and stayed for three nights. At the checking, I saw genuine smile from Tharka and Bawani. They were kind to ask my food preferences and other requirements and provided them soon. The room was cleaned and it was close to the spa. Atmosphere was good. You can have stunning view of the lions rock from the pool. The food was absolutely delicious. We were impressed by the authentic taste of the sri Lankan food. Great value for what you pay. Need to mention about the bar also. It was located near the pool. They serve a nice selection of the beverages at reasonable price. During our stay, we could use spa. It was a highlight of our stay. Very relaxing, hygienic and professionaltherapists. Highly recommended. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Highly recommended it to anyone looking for comfort and relaxing. 😍

Nelu Villa Sigiriya is a serene guesthouse located in Dambulla, offering comfortable rooms with free Wi-Fi and hot water. The highlight of the accommodation is its beautiful pool set amidst picturesque rice fields, providing a priceless view of the surrounding landscape, including Pidurangala and Lion Rock. The atmosphere is relaxed and quiet, with friendly staff offering great service. The spacious rooms are clean and comfortable, while the delicious breakfast offers various options to choose from.
We had the best stay here! It’s a very peaceful place in Sigiriya with super super friendly staff that make you feel very welcome and at home. The rooms, pool and food are all excellent! It also provides a beautiful view of lions rock and the chance of seeing elephants walking passed the hotel. I highly recommend staying here for brilliant value!

We had a wonderful stay at Nelu Villa in Sigiriya. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, making us feel very comfortable. Our room was cozy and came with a mosquito. The pool was fantastic – a perfect way to cool off after a hot day. The bar service was excellent, and the lassis (milk and fruit smoothies) were absolutely delicious. We really enjoyed our time and would highly recommend staying here.
Beatriz L — Google review
Very good value hotel with very welcoming and helpful staff. They were always on hand to assist and were able to arrange safari and tuktuk for us. Food was decent as well. I think some small cleanliness issues in the room, but no problem as good value for money.
Tom G — Google review
We stayed here during our time in Sigiriya and absolutely loved the hospitality. The location is right in the town center — about a 5–8 minute walk to the main street and around 20 minutes to reach Lion Rock on foot. From the moment we arrived, the host was incredibly kind. He didn’t even ask for payment right away; he told us to settle in first and pay later if we were happy with the stay. We were welcomed with drinks, and the staff immediately helped us with our bags. Such a warm and genuine check-in! We had originally booked a triple room, but due to a small issue that was completely nature-related (no one’s fault at all), they quickly offered us two separate rooms instead. They even apologized, even though the situation wasn’t really their responsibility, and solved it right away. Breakfast isn’t included, but they have an open balcony-style restaurant with a direct view of Lion Rock — the view is stunning, especially in the morning. The pool also faces Lion Rock, and swimming with that scenery was such a highlight! The pool itself is newly renovated and very clean. The place overall is still fairly new — not a fully polished luxury hotel yet, but you can clearly see it’s becoming something great. The rooms are clean and modern, and the showers are excellent. What really makes the stay special is the people. The owner and staff are incredibly polite, helpful, and down-to-earth. One day, the owner even drove us into town himself. Check-in was smooth, and they were flexible with our check-out time as well. It may not be a five-star hotel, but the kindness, effort, and amazing Lion Rock views make it a 10/10 for me. I’m sure it will only get better with time. Thank you to the whole team for such a lovely stay!
Ebrar Ö — Google review
One of the best hotels i have stayed in! Located is super, with amazing view over Sigiriya rock and also over looking great landscape with monkeys climbing the trees. The maybe owner said there is elephants in the area too but we didn’t see them. Booked by calling them and got an amazing room on the top floor with again amazing views. Staff was incredibly friendly and service minded, super helpful but not pushy at all. As i mentioned for me one of the best stays some people might not be as happy about the cleanliness, but after seeing the general Sri Lankan standard it was super. They do also have a restaurant and a bar, doesn’t come up here on google maps but they do and my partner said it was the best Sri Lankan brekky he had during or visit in the country. (only ate brekky) Maybe not the best food options for people who don’t eat animals but that’s alright! Not to forget, They also have a Pool!!

Nestled by the serene waterfront, Sunshine Resort & Spa Sigiriya offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. Just a short drive from the iconic Ancient City of Sigiriya and Pidurangala Rock, this spa hotel is an ideal base for exploring the area's rich history. Guests can unwind at the full-service spa or savor delicious meals at the on-site restaurant, which features both Sri Lankan and English breakfast options.
We absolutely loved our stay here! From the moment we arrived, the staff and the manager were incredibly kind and welcoming they even greeted us with a refreshing welcome drink. During our stay, they helped us explore Sigiriya and even took us to close destinations free of charge. Thanks to them, we had the best experience visiting Lion Rock and Pidurangala. The room was clean and comfortable, and we really appreciated the air conditioning and mosquito repellent provided, we had no issues with insects at all. Having a fridge in the room was also a great bonus for keeping our water cool. The environment was beautiful and peaceful; waking up to the sound of birds singing was my favorite part. The garden was full of lovely birds and squirrels, it was such a joy to watch them. Breakfast was one of the highlights of our stay. It was so generous and delicious that we could never finish everything! We especially loved the coconut pancakes, they were amazing. Overall, we truly enjoyed every moment here. Everyone was so polite, helpful, and friendly, and we felt very well taken care of from the moment we arrived. There was absolutely nothing we didn’t like. Thank you so much for making our stay in Sigiriya so special!

We absolutely loved our stay here! The place was beautiful, peaceful, and full of positive energy. The people working here were some of the kindest and most helpful we met in Sri Lanka. We truly enjoyed every moment and would love to stay here again one day!

One of the very best places I ever stayed. The staff is so friendly I actually should give it 6 or 7 stars if that was possible! Spacious and clean rooms set in a beautiful garden. Close by are (convenience) shops, restaurants as well as the entrance to Lions rock. Staff can arrange all kind of activities in the area. Lovely breakfast and service. Definately a place to come back to!
Mark H — Google review
This place is a must stay area for it's price. Genuinely one of the better hotels I have been to here. The actual decor of the area is filled with greenery and is like a typical beautiful srilankan-styled home, it's quiet peaceful and comfortable to stay here as you explore the area around it. The workers here are incredible and know almost everything about srilanka, from what to do and how to do it, the person we spoke to fluently spoke English. The rooms are perfect to stay in, with an a/c, comfortable and clean beds and a hot water shower system which was pretty modern. Shower amenities though were on the bad side as not a lot was provided for a family room! (Bring your own shampoo and products) Though there was a place to make coffee and tea which was nice! The food was perfect, not a buffet style but rather a set course the workers give you, the food was a traditional srilankan breakfast with pancakes filled with a sugary coconut filling bread with spring hoppers eggs etc. If you need a place to stay, stay here. Call from the reception instead as it is cheaper and more beneficial to pay from the hotel as they get all of the money than from online which helps the locals! Also p.s there isn't a spa (bit misleading) 🥴
Digital F — Google review
What a fantastic place to stay! The rooms were beautiful, the food was delicious and they accommodated fussy children really well. And the staff were exceptionally good, the main gentleman could not do enough for us, his hospitality was exemplary. The hotel is ideally positioned and only a tiny walk away from bars, though we didn’t bother heading out as it was lovely where we were. Only issue is we didn’t get to stay longer! Cannot recommend highly enough!

Splendid stay, to say the least! Our host was such a lovely person, he was always there trying to help and fulfill all our needs. He was there even to greet us when we came back from outside. The room was super clean, and they cleaned again during our 2 night-stay. The area outside is always being cleaned by two very nice ladies. The breakfast was super nice and clean. Fruits were tasty and fresh. The pancakes were AMAZING! They do them with honey and coconut; I loved it so much they even gave me the rest to take to the room :)) The location is really great as well. With just a few steps outside there’re lots of amenities and facilities; super market, restaurants, ice-cream shop…etc. And it was so close to the Lion and Pidangula rock as well. We visited from Egypt and we loved our stay!

Worst hotel experience ever I booked this hotel through Agoda, but when I arrived for check-in, I was told my reservation had been canceled. The reason? They claimed I didn’t reply to their email. When I checked the email, it only said “We’re looking forward to your arrival!”—nothing that required a response. They never informed me about the cancellation in advance. Instead, they offered to send me to another hotel but insisted I pay the taxi fare myself. Naturally, I refused and booked another place nearby on my own. To make things worse, the very hotel that supposedly canceled my booking was still available for same-day reservations, which felt very suspicious. The staff showed no genuine apology, just a flat “sorry” with no sincerity at all. This hotel left me with the worst impression—disrespectful, unprofessional, and possibly discriminatory. I strongly recommend avoiding this place. And if you do decide to stay, make sure you reply to every single email, no matter how trivial it looks, or you might end up without a room like I did.

Palitha Homestay is a charming accommodation run by two kind brothers, offering extraordinary vegetarian dishes and exceptional service. Guests have praised the staff for their friendliness and willingness to assist with various arrangements, such as transportation and excursions. The location is convenient, just a short walk from Lions Rock and the main town. While some found the rooms to be simple and clean, others noted minor issues with amenities like showers.
We had a lovely three-night stay at the Palitha Homestay. Our hosts were so lovely and accommodating, helping organising taxis, tuk tuks, and a sunrise trip to Pidurangala Rock. The rooms were just what we needed, and we enjoyed delicious breakfasts and dinners at our time of choosing. A short walk to restaurants/ cafes/ a local bar, and you sit on the deck and spot local wildlife. It made everything easy :)

A peaceful jungle retreat with a caring host! Palitha Homestay is a lovely place nestled in the heart of the jungle — calm, green, and full of natural beauty. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the atmosphere is truly relaxing. Our host was very kind and helpful. He informed us that it's not safe to walk around the area at night because of wild animals like monkeys and even elephants, which sometimes pass by! Still, if you need to go out in the evening, you can easily take a tuk-tuk or another vehicle to nearby restaurants or shops. It’s a perfect place to stay if you want to be close to nature but still have access to the essentials.

Service was great (food, cooking lesson, guide to jungle safari, everything was perfect). The host and his wife are very very kind (he also speaks English very well and told us a lot of interesting things about the local culture, food and plants). The location is really deep inside in nature and in the jungle: it was very quiet and relaxing. The Internet was so and so, but you are in the jungle: it's normal). The room was big, quite clean, but the bathroom had some problems (bad smell, low water pressure: so it needs some fixes). Good experience

Water Garden - Sigiriya is a luxurious retreat nestled in the heart of nature, offering well-appointed villas with chic interiors and private plunge pools. Surrounded by natural ponds and streams, this exclusive hotel provides a blend of lavish design and serene surroundings, creating a paradise for nature lovers. Guests can relish the tropical setting from the comfort of their chalet's large living area or take a barefoot stroll on the verandah to indulge in the private pool.
The Sigiriya water gardens consist of a collection of pools, fountains, and lawns. It is symmetrical. The main pathway and another causeway, divide the pool into four sections with an island at the center. These causeways connect the pool to the surrounding lawns. Past this pool is the symmetrical fountains on either side of the main pathway. The fountain sprinklers still work during the rainy season after 1500 years. Next to the fountains are the foundations of Sigiriya summer palaces. The final phase of the garden complex consists of a raised octagonal pool. The famous architect Geoffrey Bawa was inspired by the ambiance of Sigiriya water gardens. He went on the design the Blue Water Hotel in Wadduwa, Sri Lanka based on the ancient gardens.

We stayed at the Water Garden as we have been island hopping, exploring the islands of the world. This location is ideal to explore the temples of Sigiriya along with so many other historical sites & treasures. I am posting the expressive welcoming ceremony as we arrived & the even larger farewell. The wonderful accommodations we enjoyed during our stay. And my favorite the jaunt thru the parks to see the wildlife especially the Elephants. And their newest little baby.
Sandi S — Google review
The Water Gardens of Sigiriya are a true marvel of ancient engineering and artistry, reflecting the grandeur and creativity of King Kashyapa's era. Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Sigiriya, these gardens are part of an elaborate royal palace complex that dates back to the 5th century. What makes the Water Gardens unique is their sophisticated design and the innovative use of hydraulic technology to create a lush, beautiful landscape amidst the rocky fortress. The garden is divided into three sections, each with its own set of pools, terraces, and fountains. The most striking feature is the network of interconnected pools, fed by underground conduits and channels. Even after centuries, the fountains in the garden still operate during the rainy season, powered by natural pressure—a testament to the advanced knowledge of water management and hydraulics. The fountains are a key highlight. These lotus-shaped fountains spout water in perfect synchrony, a feat that was accomplished through a gravity-driven system. Their ability to function without modern pumps is one of the many wonders of the Sigiriya Water Gardens, showing how the ancient engineers harnessed the natural landscape to create this spectacular display. The garden’s layout also emphasizes symmetry, with long, straight walkways lined by pools and fountains, and shaded by lush trees. The combination of water features, greenery, and the towering rock of Sigiriya in the background creates a tranquil atmosphere, making the Water Gardens both a relaxing retreat and a showcase of architectural brilliance. Overall, the Water Gardens and their functioning fountains represent not just a piece of ancient technology, but also the elegance and opulence of a royal past. A visit to Sigiriya isn’t complete without spending time in this remarkable landscape, which is a true fusion of nature and human ingenuity.

Sigiriya water fountains are world-famous! King Kasyapa built these beautiful fountains, with 4 in the water garden and 2 on each side. They still work after 1500 years! ⛲️💧👑 #Sigiriya #Fountains #WaterGarden #History #SriLanka

It is one of the most important places in the world in terms of technology. How difficult is it to build a stone kingdom? But it has been very successfully built in the past. No matter how tall it is, it is amazing how its water is carried from the ground. It contains much that we still cannot imagine about the technology of the past. Come and visit the mysterious places there. Gain knowledge

Super place! We stayed here 3 nights and are very satisfied. The place is beautiful. The pool has a beautiful view of the Lion Rock. The owners are wonderful - very nice and helpful always in the morning at breakfast asked what we were up to and gave very good and nice local recommendations. We booked through the hotel a safari - it was great! The driver was wonderful, we saw lots of elephants and other animals and he also prepared super surprises for us. Breakfast at the hotel is very good and varied, every day there was something new and local to try. The room was also very clean and cozy. We highly recommend it! Greetings from the Polish people! :)

We had a fantastic stay at Sinhagiri Villa. Our family room was very comfortable with two big beds and great air con. The proprietors and all the staff were so kind and welcoming we felt very much at home. We spent lots of time in the very clean swimming pool which has a gorgeous view of Lions Rock. We loved the breakfast, especially the fresh fruit. Altogether a fabulous stay and we would highly recommend this accommodation to others.

Really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were very attentive, food was good and the swimming was the best view! Although a little bit out of the main town, it's a 10 mins walk to Lion Rock and there's restaurants nearby.

One of best and the oldest Villas nearly in the Sigiriya area. Very clean, good quality service is given to all. Highly recommended for all the tourists.

Great service by the lovely owners. It is just 10-15 minutes walk from the lion rock entrance. You will still have to go by Tuktuk if you want to go early morning, considering walking can be dangerous because of wild elephants roaming the area. My only suggestion to people looking at this villa would be to NOT book the standard double room. It is in the old house where the owner lives and does not meet the quality and hygiene standards. The other rooms are in the back house villa and look pretty good (hopefully better quality).

Sigiri Hibiscus Villa is a charming and cozy separate house with a large bedroom and bathroom. The owners are known for their kind and helpful nature, offering great hospitality and local insights. The location is ideal for exploring Sigiriya's main attractions. Guests appreciate the clean rooms, fast Wi-Fi, and well-stocked mini bar fridge. The delicious traditional breakfast and Sri Lankan style dinner are highly recommended, featuring homemade dishes like watermelon juice, wood apple juice, and flavorful local cuisine.
Perfect place. Very cozy clean separate house and area around. Large bedroom and bathroom. Everything is done with soul and comfort. Power outlets on each side of the bed, great fast wifi. The owner and his wife are kind, helpful and very friendly. The owner can suggest the route and share information. He saw a flat tire on a scooter and helped pump it up for us. Very tasty traditional breakfast. In addition, we asked to make us dinner. It was delicious. If we ever pass by, we will definitely stop by again.

Just perfect, the owner is very kind and helpful and has a lot of good connections to get fair safari prices etc.; the room was very clean and spacious and although the bath water was sometimes scarce, the owner did his best to fix it and we never really had a problem concerning bathing water; the breakfast was really good and handmade with some good smoothies and fruits; the position/location of the accommodation is very good as well, so to sum it up, it was really really good

A beautiful resort in a quiet location at the foot of Lion Rock. The grounds are green, well-kept and feature a great pool. A real highlight is the pool bar, perfect for relaxing. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and when our air conditioning didn’t work for one night, it was immediately taken care of. Breakfast is excellent, varied and plentiful. Above all, everyone here is incredibly friendly and helpful. Overall, a wonderful place to enjoy nature and unwind.

**Beautiful hotel with potential** The atmosphere was sweet and cozy, and we felt at home. The hotel still has a lot of potential – it still needs some further development in some areas, but once that's done, it will be truly amazing. The location was perfect, just 10 minutes from Lion Rock, ideal for excursions and close by the City. Overall, a lovely family business and stay!

**"Pretty place but poor service – not worth the price"** We stayed for 3 nights in a private pool chalet. The setting and room were lovely and the bed was comfortable, but for the price we expected much better service. After an initially warm welcome, there was no real assistance. Messages went unanswered, we couldn’t arrange activities through the hotel, and our request for housekeeping was ignored. Wi-Fi was unreliable, our toilet leaked, the pool remote didn’t work, and there was no hot water (other guests mentioned the same). Breakfast was often cold and the bar was rarely staffed. Overall, it felt neglected and poorly managed. A shame, as the place has potential, but we wouldn’t return.

I was absolutely delighted with my stay! The accommodation exceeded all my expectations — the rooms were spacious, clean, and very comfortable. The surroundings were breathtaking, with beautiful nature all around that made the entire experience feel like a peaceful escape. The pool was perfect — clean, well-maintained, and ideal for relaxing under the sun. The staff was exceptionally kind and welcoming. I have to give special praise to one young, slim waiter — truly a wonderful person with a heart of gold. He went out of his way to make us feel at home, always with a smile and ready to help with anything we needed. Awful experience. I booked 3 rooms as I was travelling with my family. The photos on Google seemed quite decent. But we were in for a horrible surpise. The road leading to the hotel was in a terrible condition with zero lights. The rooms were in terrible condition as well. The fan wasn’t working, it had cobwebs and spider, one of the room also had a frog. It had dust all over the place. The door connecting the two rooms couldn’t be locked as the lock was broken. Hence, we had zero privacy. The manager said that’s a feature! The property is very poorly lit. Breakfast buffett had a lizard. Dinner was served an hour after taking the order. The management is totally irresponsible. They have created a mess. I was extremely embarrassed in front of my family for booking this hotel.

Enjoyed our stay here. Friendly and accommodating staff. The hotel grounds are very nice with beautiful plants and a pool, this exceeded my expectations for the price we paid. Could improve in some areas I.e. no towels in the room when we arrived and no hand soap in dispenser. TV and WiFi does not work.

Very Disappointing Stay I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The rooms were dirty and clearly not cleaned properly before our arrival.no one to help with the bags for ladies, When we raised concerns, the staff seemed indifferent and made no real effort to help. To make matters worse, when it rained, water actually came into the room — completely unacceptable. The breakfast and dinner were both below average, and the staff rushed to have our breakfast so they could have their own ,with limited options and poor quality food.worse staff and management i have ever experienced, Overall, a very unpleasant experience.

There were animals in the rooms, multiple dogs in the area, rooms were not ready until after 2 hours of the designated time, only one square port, no hot water, no WiFi, fan does not work, some bulbs were not there, favourism towards tourists, pool water not clean, pool seating area dogs sat on chairs, electricity went, but the food was good.

We stayed there for 1 nights and had a very bad experience! The rooms were spacious but not proper cleaned. I noticed the spiders under the mattress. Air conditioners were not working properly. Wifi and Television not working but the best part was the beautiful garden. The pool could be cleaned better, 3 Dogs walking around and did a poo and wee near the pool.but overall I wouldn’t recommend this place. Very sad spending Rs 35000 for 2 rooms..

Bad experience. Room was okay but service was pathetic. No blankets provided. I checked reception it was closed, there was noone. Fresco Villa is one of the best value hotels in Sigiriya. I initially booked a Supreme Deluxe room for one night but ended up extending my stay for another night at just $30 per night. Upon arrival, I was welcomed with a refreshing drink and had the unique opportunity to take part in a traditional oil lamp lighting ritual. The room was clean and offered a lovely view of the pool. It was well-equipped with toiletries typically found in five-star hotels, including shower gel, lotion, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and a shaving kit. The toilet seat was sanitized, and the glasses were sealed for hygiene. The rate included a complimentary buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Laundry service was available at a reasonable price. The staff—including the manager, security guard, and waiters—were exceptionally friendly and always greeted me with a smile. My stay at Fresco Villa was truly memorable, and I would highly recommend it. P.S. Please don’t forget to give a generous tip to the staff. They work really hard and truly deserve it.

The bathroom was dirty and the room overall felt old and in need of renovation. Breakfast was acceptable, with options like eggs and chicken sausage, but be aware that any type of coffee comes with an extra charge. We also found fleas in our bed, and instead of a proper bed, they had pushed two beds together, which was uncomfortable. The AC was very loud and seemed outdated, making it hard to sleep. Would not recommend unless improvements are made.
Mayra B — Google review
My experience at this hotel was very bad. In total, I stayed for three nights. On the first night and the following morning, there was a problem with the hot water. My mistake — I should have complained immediately instead of waiting until the evening. They eventually fixed it; apparently, someone had switched off the controls outside. The next day, I found plenty of ants in the bathroom and some other insects. They came with a spray to kill them. The following evening brought another surprise — a gecko defecated on me while I was in bed. On top of that, there were more insects in the bathroom and bedroom. Handles in the bathroom were broken. The Wi-Fi was poor and barely worked. A pot of tea in the restaurant cost 1,100 LKR, and there was no fresh juice available. I stayed in room 314. This is not a 4 star hotel.
Dorota Ł — Google review
I recently stayed at Fresco Water Villa, and while it is categorized as a 3-star property, the name can be quite misleading. There is no actual water villa experience here – no villas over water, no dedicated water view. In fact, the "water" part is just a small waterbody near the parking area, which doesn't match the impression the name gives. The rooms were decent and staff were polite, but if you're booking expecting a luxury or unique "water villa" vibe, you may be disappointed. It's more of a regular villa-style hotel with standard amenities. Would recommend it only if you're looking for a basic stay and not for the "water villa" experience as the name suggests.

Guests can enjoy the warm hospitality and excellent service from the staff, making their stay truly memorable. It was perfect. Beautiful rooms. Comfortable bed. Great service. The breakfast is delicious. The hotel arranged all my excursions. I love that everything is made of natural materials. Even signs. Its also very near to the Sigiriya Rock.

The hotel and its surroundings are calm and ideal for a relaxing vacation. The room is slightly smaller compared to other 4-star hotels I've stayed at, but the bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works well. The bathroom has an unpleasant odor, which might be due to an issue with wastewater drainage. I had read about this in previous reviews as well, so the hotel staff should recognize it as a serious problem and take steps to resolve it. The buffet doesn't offer a wide variety of food, but the available options are decent. The staff is excellent and made our two-day stay very comfortable. Special thanks to the chef, kitchen staff, and waiters—all of whom were very helpful. We were traveling with our 2-year-old child, and they were happy to prepare whatever food the baby needed. Thank you, chef, for your kindness! The pool area is clean and very enjoyable. Overall, I would rate this hotel 8 out of 10.

We stayed at Ekho Sigiriya from 11th to 13th October, and our experience was simply amazing! We travelled with our 2-year-old baby, and even though we arrived before the official check-in time, the management warmly welcomed us and arranged our rooms without any hesitation. We booked one double and one triple room on a full-board basis, and everything exceeded our expectations. The General Manager, Manager, F&B Manager, and all other staff members were incredibly kind and attentive. They always prioritized our needs and made us feel completely at home. A special mention to the team for preparing customized meals for our baby without any extra charge — such thoughtful service truly touched us. The rooms were spotless and well-maintained, the food was delicious, and the rates were very reasonable. The hotel also helped arrange a vehicle for our elephant safari, which was a wonderful experience. Plus, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of Sigiriya Rock right from the hotel — it’s very close by! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing stay, great food, and genuine Sri Lankan hospitality.

Was here recently with my family, and honestly, nothing crazy. Room were nice but the AC didnt work, had to swich rooms, ants were all over the place. Service was great honestly and the staff were very friendly. About the food, not the best. There chicken and beef in the curry were very dry and the portions were like 3 spoons of curry, pasta was great and the hamborger was nice as well
Ido D — Google review
We paid around 60usd for a night. The day after, we booked another homestay which was a little far away for 20usd and it was much better. Location and the staff are nice but the room definitely did not worth 60usd. There wasn't even hot water in the morning. When you spend that much you expect some standards. This place disappointed us.
Atakan C — Google review
I am sorry to say so but what they are doing with the cocktail two for one promotion is a fraud. They have two different menus, one for happy hour and one normal one. The happy hour menu is almost precisely twice as expensive as the standard menu, so dividing the price in half brings the drinks back to normal price. In Austria we call this a scam. This is very unfortunate, because the bar looked nice. Better not do a promotion at all instead of a fraud.

Clean, comfortable and spacious hotel, well located to visit Sigiriya and surroundings. Just a shame, as in several Sri Lankan hotels that hotel bars are closing early and little cosy... Lunch and breakfast were ok'ish. Pool very nice, if you don't mind the monkeys join the fun :)

Setting was picturesque. Monkeys in the trees right by the pool. Pool was nice as well. Food was quite bland however, they really did not add any spice, even to the Sri Lankan fare. Would get 4 star if they improved this.

We stayed here for two nights in March 2025. The hotel and the grounds are very nice. Some rooms offer a view of the Sigiriya, we had such a room, but unfortunately it was too hazy. The rooms are nicely designed, have air conditioning and a small balcony. The Wi-Fi in the upper rooms is generally a bit weak, we could only use it on the balcony. The pool is large enough for the number of guests and was nice and warm. For breakfast and dinner there is a choice of buffet or a la carte. For lunch, you can order a small snack if you wish. We liked the food very much, it is rather international in flavour. Of course, you can eat more local food at the buffet or to order. Our highlight was the last evening meal, right by the pool under the stars. The service is very nice and courteous, but we didn't use any of the services on offer apart from the laundry service. It is not far to Sigiriya, it takes about 25 minutes. On the way you pass many shops, both for drinks and snacks as well as souvenirs.

Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they went above and beyond to make us feel at home from the moment we arrived. It's rare to find service that feels so personal. If you're looking for peaceful luxury with heartwarming hospitality, Atha Resort is a must. We'd return in a heartbeat.

Atha Resort is perfect. Rooms and grounds are stunningly beautiful, well thought out and sparkling clean. The staff are the best I've ever experienced. They were attentive to our every need and I can't thank them enough for making our first experience of Sri Lanka so special. The food was out of this world. We ate every meal here during our time in Sigiriya and were blown away, every time. The staff took their time to explain everything to us as the cuisine was completely new. A special mention for how well they dealt with my peanut / nut allergy at every meal. The resort is a perfect base for exploring Sigiriya in terms of location. Sigiriya rock is a 10 minute Tuktuk journey. Thank you Atha Resort for a perfect stay and welcoming us to your beautiful country.

Service was friendly and proactive. Breakfast was delicious the 2 days we had them. Dinner-wise, Kade Mix was below par; chicken was super tough and dry. Cheese kottu was delicious. Room was generally comfortable. My only issue was the hairdryer plug didn't stay in their in-house-provided multi-plug. Had to hold the plug in to use the hairdryer. Water heater also ran out of hot water fast. You'd do well to wait if someone else had a longer shower first. Also, there weren't any chairs or seats inside the room. We carried the patio chair to have somewhere to sit when we ordered room service. Wifi reliable. Bed and pillows made for good sleep.

We had a fantastic stay at Atha Resort. The location is excellent – very close to the village and to highlights like Lion Rock. Breakfast was plentiful and very tasty, and the service throughout was great. Our personal highlight was our driver and local guide, Dammika. He made our time in Sigiriya truly special – a kind and knowledgeable person who showed us local life, invited us for tea and hoppers with friends, and guided us around with his tuk-tuk. Meeting him was one of the most memorable parts of our trip to Sri Lanka.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. Bungalows surrounded by nature. We were lucky enough to have rain and to hear it falling on the bungalow roof. Waking up to the sounds of animals outside, and falling asleep to the same — just fabulous! The food was wonderfully prepared and varied every day. Dedicated service. Friendly, kind staff, always ready to explain everything and to give their very best. The pool was amazing, both by day and by night! A wonderful hotel in the middle of the jungle!

It's been an amazing stay in this small hotel outside of Sigiriya! The hotel property is beautiful and well maintained. The staff was amazing, welcoming and helped with every kind of request as well. The breakfast was served as a set menu with so many options from fruit and continental to Sri Lankan food. The service was exceptional! Sigiriya is a little too far away to walk but it's only a few minutes by Tuk Tuk or car.

We had a wonderful stay at Atha Resort in Sigiriya. A special mention goes to the waiters Ravindu and Asela – they were always incredibly attentive, caring and genuinely friendly. All the other staff members greeted us with a smile at all times, which made the atmosphere even more welcoming. The rooms were very clean and tidied up every day, which made us feel extremely comfortable. We also booked a private Jeep Safari to Minneriya National Park through the resort. Everything was perfectly organized, and our guide Ranga was very knowledgeable, friendly and made the experience truly memorable. The food at the hotel was excellent and reasonably priced. We can highly recommend Atha Resort and truly appreciate the warm hospitality we experienced during our stay.

This hotel is just perfect I loved every detail especially the servicd there. There is one guy on the reception called Ishan he tried his best to speak with us English and guide us in every tour we wanted with a full smile on his face all the time just as all the employees. Also all the srilankan people are amazing very humble helpful and always smiling and super modest. I loved the food there at their restaurant. The set , the pool, the ambiance and literally everything it was a stunning experience I'll highly recommend it.

Roo Mansala Boutique Villa is a small yet luxurious hotel located in Sigiriya, offering a honeymoon suite, panoramic suites, and superior rooms with mountain views. The property pays homage to Sri Lankan architecture and provides an immersive experience for visitors. It is situated near Pidurangala Rock and Sigiriya Museum, featuring free private parking, a restaurant, and views of the mountains and pool.
The Roo Masala Boutique Hotel was an oasis. It is within walking distance to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress as well as Pidurangala Rock. Nestled in greenery, it offers a secluded escape, and the pool invites you to relax during the day. Watching the sunrise from the rock and the sunset over the fortress is simply perfect. The entire team is fantastic, providing 5-star service with attention to every little detail. The food is incredibly good – definitely have dinner at the hotel! The rooms are wonderful and spacious. You feel at home immediately, and the view of the Sigiriya Fortress from the bed is unique! I would come back anytime. Great value for money.

I have stayed at the villa with my wife and 5 years old daughter. There are not many rooms in the villa and it makes us feel like staying in a private place. Quiet and cozy atmosphere. We could see the great view from our room. Every staff is nice and friendly. Sigiriya Rock is actually walking distance from the villa. We all love this place and will definitely come back again.

Oasis near Sigiriya: 5 Stars! This hotel is an absolute oasis! Its location is perfect, within easy walking distance of both Sigiriya Rock and Pidurangala Rock. Facilities & Nature The facilities are amazing—so clean and perfectly organized. It's a truly magical setting, nestled in greenery, with frogs and squirrels being a charming, natural part of the grounds. The pool is wonderful for relaxing. Room & Crew The rooms are wonderful and spacious, kept spotlessly clean, and the design is top-notch throughout the entire place. The view of the Sigiriya Fortress from the bed is unique! The entire crew is fantastic, providing 5-star service—they are genuinely pleasant and nice. Food & Value The food is incredibly good—definitely have dinner here! Breakfast (English or Sri Lankan) is served à la carte and is large enough to set you up for the day. Great value for money. I would come back anytime!

It's a fantastic location, a real gem in our recent visit to Sri Lanka. Rooms perfect, food perfect. It was a very enjoyable stay. Ideal as a location to use to see the local attractions - Sigiriya Rock and Elephant Safari.

Wonderful location with superb views Lion Rock and Pidu rock from the upstairs room. The resort has a nice pool to cool off in and food and service was great. They have a viewing platform that for afternoon relaxing was very scenic. Would highly recommend.

A gem hotel concept in Sigirya! You won’t regret your stay. Lovely huts villa style in the middle of nature surrounded by villages. The staff are well trained, kind and professional. We could tell they are well trained for 5* service. Its very quite and perfect gateaway for meditation, relaxation etc. The rooms are spacious and clean. The only cons I have is it would have been awsome if the pool was a bit far from the restaurant terrace and lobby but I guess it is there for safety reasons. The bed is too soft but that’s a tiny detail compared to the experience and concept of this property. Totally worth the price and is actually ethically priced. The Dinner & breakfast is very tasty and prepared as ordered to avoid waste. kudos to the chef and the waiter who was extremely polite and professional (apologies I can’t remember his name). It is also ethically priced. Again 100% recommend and we’d want to stay couple nights more.

We are a family of 4 and had a wonderful stay at Roo Mansala in July. The service was excellent, the rooms very clean and the location was superb. Quick and easy to get to all the things we wanted to do including the elephant safari and super close to Lion’s rock. And there was a bonus elephant to watch in the fields behind the hotel! The pool was delightful and the tree top seating area was a quiet place to read and watch out for more wildlife.

Nestled in the lush greenery of Sigiriya, Sigiri Rock Side Home Stay is a delightful retreat for travelers seeking tranquility and comfort at an affordable price. This charming homestay boasts a prime location, just a short distance from popular attractions like Sigiriya and Pidurangala rock, as well as various dining options. The warm hospitality of the owners truly sets this place apart; they go above and beyond to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience.
Very simple and basic rooms, they have AC and a fridge /kettle for tee and coffee. However, the traditional breakfast is superb, heaps of food and all is prepared by the ladies in the back. Also, the whole family is super nice and welcoming, we did a Safari tour and chocking class with them, that was one of the best experiences during our whole trip. Thanks so much!

The place is a little scary to walk around at night. It's about a 5 minute walk from the main road. However, it's a good place to go to Lion Rock. They also make good breakfast. I think it's the best among the guesthouses in SriLanka!

Very nice accommodation. Clean rooms. Nice hosts! The man drove us to the rock for sunrise. We booked a safari in Minneriya National Park through the accommodation. It was very nice!

Everything here is amazing. Room is spacious, there is parking on-site, and is located a short walk away from the main street of Sigiriya. Breakfast is amazing and was one of the highlights! I also had to check-in really late, and the homestay owner was very accommodating to the request. We also booked a safari jeep tour (organised by the homestay) and we saw many elephants (around 60) that afternoon!

This is a great homestay place to stay. The rooms are very comfortable, in the garden and have a balcony to sit out relax and take in the bird song (giant squirrels gave an aerobatic exhibition at one time also). The breakfast is extensive and very tasty. Access is at night is by car or tuc tuc only- the 200m lane off the main road has elephant traffic so it's dangerous to walk after dark. Priyanti and Manike are great hosts and took us free of charge to Pandaragula and Sigiriya rock for sunrise hikes.

This is the best located homestay in Sigiriya, just a few hundred metres from the UNESCO World Heritage site. The rooms don't have airconditioning but are not bad in the night. The owner stays on the property and serves an authentic Sri Lankan breakfast. The Sigiriya market is closeby, where you can go for dinner. We had it in Barista, simply because we wanted to have a light meal and rest as we had a long day, driving from Colombo. There is a need for a plumbing job in the bathroom but I would recommend this place.

Guests appreciate the peaceful ambiance and scenic surroundings, making it a fantastic spot for those looking to explore Sri Lanka's countryside. Just a short distance from key attractions like Lion's Rock and Pidurangala, this location is ideal for walking tours and immersing oneself in nature.
One of the best accommodations I’ve ever stayed at. The staff was so genuinely friendly. We really enjoyed our stay. Such a homely atmosphere, while also having a luxurious feeling. The beds were comfortable too. Thank you to the wonderful staff for this experience! Wish we could have stayed longer than 2 nights.

Royal Rocky Sigiriya offers spacious and clean rooms, many of which come with a direct view of the iconic Sigiriya Rock — waking up to that scenery is truly special. The location is quiet and close enough to the main sights, yet feels removed from the tourist rush. The breakfast is simple but sufficient, with fresh fruit, toast, eggs, and tea/coffee — nothing fancy, but it does the job before a morning hike to the rock. Unfortunately, during our stay, the pool was not in a usable condition, which was a bit disappointing given the warm weather — hopefully it’s just a temporary issue. Staff were kind and helpful throughout our stay. If you’re looking for a peaceful, scenic place with a great view of Lion’s Rock, this is definitely worth considering.

Great staff, very friendly and caring. They recommended us a good safari tour to a nearby national park too. Location a bit outside of the town's centre but we actually like the tranquility of the place. Nice views on the Lion Rock from balcony. The room was nice. Our AC did not work but we had a ventilator, so that was fine. Would come again. 🇱🇰🌄

Very close to the main road, it's really easy to reach the main attractions lion's rock and Pidurangala. The whole team is friendly, polite and read your wishes from your eyes. The view on the rock is excellent as well as the food and service is. We love it will come back for sure.

We had a great stay in Royal Rock. The staff in the hotel were super friendly, especially Jaya who took good care of us. The breakfast was nice and we were always offered more food if we were still hungry. It is important to mention that the hotel is close to the jungle which has its advantages (you can see a lot of monkeys and birds if you are lucky), but also has some disadvantages (there might be some insects in the room from time to time (e.g. grasshoppers) and when you return from the city center at night, you must be careful because there sometimes can be wild elephants. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay.

Disappointing Stay – Poor Service and Mismanagement We stayed at Royal Retreat, Sigiriya, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. First, the pricing structure was frustrating. Their direct booking rate was more than double the price listed on commission-based platforms like Booking.com, which makes no sense and shows a lack of understanding of direct sales strategy. Service was painfully slow across the board. Nobody helped with our luggage upon arrival, and the room had only one towel. When I requested an additional towel, it took five hours and four reminders to finally receive it. The next morning, we decided to use the pool, but it was extremely dirty. Leftover food and drinks from the night before were still around the pool area and on the sunbeds. When I asked a staff member about cleaning it, he said he would check with management and return—but never came back. The only positive aspects were that the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well. Overall, this place felt completely unprofessional and poorly managed. If you don’t know how to run a hospitality business properly, it’s better not to run one at all. Definitely not recommended.

We stayed two nights at Royal Retreat Sigiriya. Service was good, staff was really friendly, helpful and rooms were clean. Main concern was no good running water, the water had no pressure and washing was complicated. Staff said that the water will be fixed but in the end of second day, it was not. Towels were little dirty and smelled odd. After all that we had to pay the same price for rooms. Food was okay, though it came for ages. In the end of second day the food came in 1 hour 40min (there was 11 of us). They may have been under staffed and only one cook I’m not sure. We had a guide with us who was disrespected after we said that we wanna pay for his food. He was told that pay for himself bc he is working for us and we weren’t allowed to pay for him, to us it was really odd but apparently that happens alot in Sri Lanka.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Truly Royal Experience – Royal Retreat Hotel, Sigiriya We had the pleasure of staying at the Royal Retreat Hotel in Sigiriya from 7th to 11th July, and what began as a 2-night booking quickly turned into a 4-night stay — simply because the service and hospitality were that good. From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the calm beauty of the surroundings and the warm welcome from the staff. But what truly made this stay outstanding was the exceptional service provided by restaurant manager, Rostand Rathnayaka. His professionalism, attentiveness, and genuine care made every meal feel special and every guest feel valued. The hotel itself was peaceful, clean, and comfortable — a perfect base for exploring Sigiriya and the surrounding area. But it was Rostand’s warmth and attention to detail that elevated our experience far beyond expectations. Every interaction felt personal, every request was met with a smile, and nothing was ever too much trouble. Thanks to the incredible service, we had no hesitation in extending our stay by another two nights. It was an easy decision to linger a little longer in such a welcoming and well-run place. We wholeheartedly recommend the Royal Retreat Hotel to anyone visiting Sigiriya — and be sure to say hello to Rostand! He truly embodies the spirit of Sri Lankan hospitality.

We stayed here as a group of three and enjoyed the beautiful, quiet location perfect for leisurely walks. The bungalows were charming but a bit noisy, and unfortunately, there was noticeable mold in ours that wasn't addressed. The pool area could use better maintenance, although it was refreshing on hot days. The staff were friendly and accommodating, but we often had to ask for things instead of them being offered. Overall, with some improvements, this place could be a great getaway!

Amazingly super awesome stay! We had been to this cottage in Dec 2023. I know it's too late to post, but it's better to post late than never. This property is surrounded by nature and too much of greenery. If you're looking for a peaceful stay, this is probably the place you should try. The host was so welcoming, friendly, and he was super helpful in recommending places to visit, he even arranged an auto for us. We were served passion fruit as welcome drink. The dinner was utterly delicious and he also considered our food requests & morning breakfast was yum. The room was pretty spacious, we liked his hospitality, the property, trees, noises of wildlife, and everything about this place. There are other activities as well that you can plan for. Only 10 minutes waking distance from the Lion Rock, it’s immersed in vegetation. Rooms are spacious and clean and have a beautiful patio. We stayed here 3 nights and had a very pleasant stay. The place is quiet and a short distance for the town where all the restaurants and shops are. They also arranged an elephant safari for us which was early 5:30 AM but we saw a lot of them. The hotel across the road has a nice swimming pool that you can use for 1,500 Rupi

The property is very near to Lion Rock. It is truly a Nature Villa, worth its name. We booked 6 rooms there with 11 occupants with varying demands. But, young Madura and his cute wife Sarah( if I am not wrong) smilingly and relentlessly met each and every request. Food, breakfast was awesome. Rooms are spacious and sparkingly clean, bathrooms are quite good too. Sitting arrangement in front of the rooms of the cottages amidst flood of greens was extremely enjoyed by all of us. Only, I would request them to increase the lighting in the rooms, those were somewhat poorly lit. Definitely recommendable and revisitable.

Amazing family to stay with and great room for the price! The owner and family were so welcoming and friendly. We stayed in their Treehouse and absolutely loved it – such a unique place. The owner and his family were very warm and welcoming. For breakfast, we had homemade chapati, and they even packed a lunch for our onward journey. They were very flexible with our timing, arranged a private car and driver for our transfer, and went above and beyond by mailing my forgotten headphones to me afterward. Everything was perfect. Highly recommended!

Amazing place—clean, comfortable, and perfectly located. The hosts were extremely friendly and even provided breakfast according to my schedule. The Sri Lankan breakfast was top-notch! The rooms had hot water and AC. They also helped me organize my trip to Nuwara Eliya. They've just opened a cozy restaurant serving local food, and they offer tuk-tuk and taxi services at below-average prices.

Our stay at Freedom Homestay was just amazing! The hosts are incredibly kind and helpful—we immediately felt at home. They supported us with everything and really cared about making our stay special. We had bought some private groceries, and the host kindly kept them in her fridge for us—such a thoughtful and helpful gesture! The room was very clean, cozy, and peaceful, perfect for relaxing after a day in Sigiriya. The breakfast was fresh and delicious, one of the best we had on our trip. The location is great, quiet but close to the Lion Rock.

Amazing homestay with good value in Sigiriya. Freedom Home Stay is a woman-owned business, the owner and her family are very friendly and helpful. Besides Sigiriya Lion Rock we did a day trip to Polonnaruwa with her husband as driver and a cooking class with her and her mother. Especially the cooking class is among our best memories in Sri Lanka.
Andreas P — Google review
The most incredible host family who really went above and beyond to make our stay so memorable. Everything was so perfect. Their restaurant food was also out of this world. The place is so well situated. It is the best place to stay in Sigiriya.
Tally L — Google review
One of the best homestays I’ve ever experienced! The place feels more like a mini-hotel. The room was spacious and well-equipped with a hot water boiler, mug, tea, and coffee. It also had a large table and chair, which made it perfect for working remotely. The bathroom was huge, complete with a clothes hanger and plenty of power outlets for all my travel gadgets. The property itself is beautiful, with a lovely backyard and patio. Every morning, a delicious local breakfast was served with so much care. The hosts and their family were incredibly warm and attentive, making sure I was safe and that all my needs were met throughout my stay. There’s also a nice restaurant right next door called Hot Food Restaurant, which serves really good meals. Overall, the host and everyone in the house were extremely kind, friendly, and welcoming—it truly felt like home. Cons: Mobitel signal inside the room was quite weak.
Katrina P — Google review
What an incredible stay! We honestly could not have wished for a better first stay and location in Sri Lanka! The room was spacious, had great air conditioning and a large comfy bed. But above all was the amazing host family and exceptional service. They were so kind and welcoming, and went out of their way to make our stay better: offering and providing tuk tuk services, taking us to a great stall for king coconuts, providing a delicious fresh breakfast, and helping us with any queries ! Will definitely be recommending Freedom Home Stay to anyone coming to Sri Lanka in the future!
Katja D — Google review
We had a great stay at freedom home stay thanks to these two lovely ladies! Nishanthi and Sumeda were so kind, they made us an amazing breakfast and we even ate at the family owed restaurant next door which had amazing food. The rooms were clean, air conditioned and comfortable. I cannot recommend staying here enough! They also arranged an Elephant Safari for us, where we were lucky enough to see 46 elephants, which is pretty rare! Thank you to Nishanthi and Sumeda for making our experience so special :)

If you are looking for an authentic cooking lesson, look no further. My family and I had the best time learning how to cook Sri Lankan food, which was ridiculously delicious. Absolutely loved the experience and it is definitely one of the highlights of our time here. Highly recommend!

Absolutely beautiful! An Oasis! We stayed in the treehouse and it was wonderful! Monkeys and different birds were daily visitors. The pool is really nice and the whole complex is build into the garden, therefore the stays are really well placed. The owner is very friendly and was always at our disposal, he helped us to book our activities and gave us some local advises! The food was delicious. I can truly recommend this place :)

Wow what a lovely experience! You are literally tucked away with jungle vibes. If you love nature and green this is the place for you! So tranquil and peaceful you can hear the wildlife all day and night. Even can see a few monkeys around! The manager was very attentive and helpful. As well as the young boy working in the restaurant area so friendly! We received breakfast which was so nice! Well fed I must say. And the swimming pool is definitely a highlight! The whole set up is very peaceful and a tuk tuk away from the high street if not a walk to a few restaurants. The room was clean and the outside bathroom was a nice touch!
Naya B — Google review
Great stay, we spent two nights here but wish we could have stayed longer! Our host was fantastic and helped to book activities and even gave us a lift into the town center one night. The rooms are brilliant we loved staying in a tree house surrounded by wildlife. The breakfast was delicious as was all our other meals he cooked!
PJ M — Google review
Beautiful secluded spot, easy to get to Dambulla Cave Temples, Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rock. We stayed in the treehouse which was a cool glamping experience! The aircon worked surprisingly well. The pool and hammock were great for chilling in between the hikes, but the star of the show was the owner Guna. A very nice man who arranged all transport for us and cooked an amazing Sri Lankan dinner. He used to be a chef, so definitely ask him to cook for you one night! The best dinner of our whole trip.
Abigail S — Google review
It's a perfect little oasis in the jungle ✨️ The host is absolutely amazing and is helpful and full of information!! It's a beautiful quiet accommodation, but still close to restaurants if you want to adventure out for dinner.
Emma C — Google review
We stayed 2 nights in the treehouse. The owner organized some tours for us to Dambulla Caves and Pindrugula. We had dinner at the hotel one night. Very tasty! The owner is a chef by trade. There are some other good local restaurants around as well. The pool was much appreciated on the hot days. Would recommend others to stay here.

Go for the treehouse. Super cool and unique! Very kind and mega hospitable man, who really wants to do everything to make you happy. The owner worked as a chef in many international places, so he knows his job. :)

This is the best homestay experience ever :) we really enjoyed it, the host is incredibly kind and thoughtful, we had such a good time there. He is also a driver, great tour guide and has a scooter rent service! He drove us to amazing places around and gave us lots of advice. The rooms in his house are also very spacious and comfortable, clean and great AC. His mom is an amazing cook, we will miss her cooking! We enjoyed her breakfasts and dinners a lot during our stay. Thanks to this great family we had the best week in Sigiriya! We will definitely come back here.

The environment is very relaxed and quiet. The owners are very warm and friendly, giving the place a cozy, home-like feel. It's especially worth praising their tea and breakfast—they are truly delicious.

We had an amazing stay! The room was really clean and comfortable, had a lot of storage space and great chairs in front of the room to hang out. In general we really liked the location as it was not too busy, had a lovely garden area but was still not too far from a lot of great destinations in Sigiriya. Further, the whole family was so kind and helpful with everything, we couldn't wish for more! We felt so welcomed and cared for. Also the breakfast was really delicious. We will definitely come back!
Anni S — Google review
We stayed at Lahiru Homestay as a group of friends and absolutely loved it! The hosts were super kind and made us feel at home right away. The rooms were clean and cozy, and the homemade food was delicious — especially the Sri Lankan dishes! It was the perfect base to explore the area, and we really appreciated all the local tips and help we got. Such a peaceful and welcoming place. Highly recommended for anyone wanting an authentic experience in Sri Lanka!
Simon Z — Google review
One of our favourite places to stay in Sri Lanka. Our room was very clean and best was comfy. The food was out standing, the best rice and curry we’ve had! Hiru and his family were very accommodating and all lovely. We couldn’t recommend this place enough!
Ellie B — Google review
I stayed here over a couple of weeks whilst I recovered from an accident and injury in Sigiriya. The property is a real home stay with a kind and caring family. It’s worth noting that the property is accessible for wheelchair if you should need access. The family welcomed me and went above and beyond to help me in a bad situation. They took care of me which goes beyond what you expect when you book accommodation. The property is a nice location for exploring the area. They can also arrange scooter hire from the property. Sigiriya is worth staying for more than two nights as there is lots to see and do. The property is a nice place to relax after a busy day adventuring. I really enjoyed afternoon tea on the veranda. You can also sit and spot some wildlife. I would highly recommend this home stay especially if you want to meet local, kind and caring Sri Lankan family.
Emma R — Google review
I recently contacted Mr. Hiru to rent a bike and inquired about a homestay in Sigiriya. To my delight, he mentioned that he has his own homestay and offered to pick me up. The price was very affordable, and the authentic Sri Lankan breakfast was a lovely touch. Mr. Hiru and his parents are exceptional hosts - humble, kind, and always willing to lend a helping hand. The homestay was immaculately clean, beautifully set up, and conveniently located on the main road of Sigiriya, just a stone's throw from the iconic Sigiriya Lion Rock and Pidurangala Rocks. I highly recommend reaching out to Mr. Hiru for accommodation in Sigiriya. He's also working on a new project - lake view cottage stays - and I wish him all the best for his endeavors.

Rooms : Very clean and affordable. Facilities : A/C, Hot water. Place : This place is so good and the garden is beautiful. Very close to a hospital and a police station. Owner: They are really supportive and kind. We were quite late at night to come back to the hotel. There wasn't koththu or fried rice in nearby restaurants. They brought food from the town for us. And they have a treewheel if you wanna go by a treewheel. And you can rent motorcycles or foot cycles from them. Recommend this place for foreigners. We will come back when we come to Sigiriya again. Good luck. Prices: Room : 5500, Dinner: 850, Treewheel (from this place to Pindurngala, wait, and come back): 2000

Guests have praised the spacious and clean rooms, as well as the delicious meals provided by the friendly owners. Additionally, visitors have highlighted the owner's role as a knowledgeable local guide who can arrange activities based on guests' interests.
Great location. Very nice and clean rooms. Delicious breakfast – the best we had in Sri Lanka, served in beautiful natural surroundings. The helpful host even packed us vegetable sandwiches when we couldn’t make it to breakfast. A very enjoyable stay. The only downside is that there’s no ventilation in the rooms, and you can’t open the windows at night. Mosquito nets would be great to allow for airing. We recommend this homestay!

Stayed here for 4 nights in November 2018 and I would highly recommend staying here. The owners are extremely friendly and speak great English. The food they provided was excellent every night. The room was huge amd very clean, it was also very secluded and quiet which was perfect. The owner helped us everyday and we went on a elephant safari with him and we were not disappointed. If you are in Sigiriya then for price, service, room, cleanliness, food, friendliness then this is the place to stay in my opinion.

Serenity Sigiri Resort offers a serene and clean environment with complimentary breakfast, free wifi, and air conditioning. The spacious rooms are well-maintained with hot water facilities. The friendly owner and their family provide excellent service and are very helpful to guests. Visitors highly recommend this resort for its amazing service and lovely atmosphere, making it a top choice for a relaxing stay.
Serenity Sigiri resort is a perfect place to stay if you want to visit Lions rock and Pidurangala which are both in walking distance. Rooms are spacious and clean. Shower is nice and hot. Sana the host is a very nice man, his hospitality is unmatched. Loved the hornbill in the garden. Con: the village and city center is a bit further away but the hosts brother was kind enough to give us a ride.
Niels L — Google review
What a wonderful and hospitable homestay! Sigiriya's second entrance is a 12-15 minute walk from there. Sana our host was incredibly kind and accommodating to our needs. He even dropped us off free of charge at Pidarangula at 5 am. Dinner was so delicious, rooms were very clean and spacious. Overall highly recommend despite the relatively remote location.
M.Samiul H — Google review
If you are looking for a comfortable place with good hospitality to stay overnight or couple of days, when planning your visit to Pidurangala and/or Sigiriya. Then this is a place that can be recommended. The rooms are well maintained with all basic amenities, AC, hot water, mini fridge, kettle and clean linen. Owner Sanath is a nice guy, and supporting such small businesses is a worthy cause.
Jay S — Google review
What a great escape from the hustle, horns, and any noise of town! This hotel is more of a homestay as it is family owned and operated with love! The family is beyond sweet and friendly! Home cooked meals available upon request and breakfast is served at a covered table outside the room. There are two guest suites either comfortable beds, multiple pillows, strong air conditioner, large patio, and hot water showers! It was a great stay and would recommend it to anyone as it was clean, comfortable and affordable. The only two negatives: the WiFi doesn’t really work great but that seems to be everywhere in Sri Lanka. The other downside, when we were there the owners bikes were in for repairs but he was gracious enough to have his brother drive us to a restaurant and help us sort out a moto/scooter. I would suggest planning on renting a scooter as it’s too far from town to walk. You will need some sort of bicycle or scooter to go to both rock climbs, restaurants etc. we did a safari we booked in town and saw several elephants! Strongly suggest staying and enjoying the great hospitality by this Sri Lankan family!
Krystal E — Google review
Simple room with basic amenities (AC and geyser) fantastic view of the mountains. Host is super helpful. Room comes with delicious home cooked breakfast and you can order dinner (chefs menu). HIGHLY recommend guests have a dinner there: request for the pumpkin curry.

This is a nice family-run hotel. The owner and his family are wonderful people. You can book a safari tour at the hotel and see elephants and the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka. The owner is always ready to help.

Was staying there with my fiancee for couple nights. Very comfortable place. There is a lake very close. Staying at this place you kinda feel wild nature near... The hosts are extremely helpful and friendly. At evening we had a dinner and it was close to local food - tastefull, though a bit to spicey for me :) Nevertheles recommended. Just one weird thing - the house inside protected from insects and bugs with naphthalene so you can smell it easy. I still remember this scent from my grandmother house :) From house you can easy walk to Sigirya Rock, its takes ~15 min.
Arunas P — Google review
we had a pleasant stay at this place. room were spacious, AC worked well, no disturbance and service from the owner was amazing. He even dropped us at Pidurangala rock for free. next day, we had to check out couple of hours late because our safari got delayed. he was cool with it and even kept breakfast ready for us.
