Park
Event venue
Falls Park is Sioux Falls' most popular attraction, drawing visitors to its 120-acre expanse featuring waterfalls, an observation tower, picnic shelters, sculptures, and walking trails. The park offers a chance to witness the Big Sioux River cascading over unique quartzite formations with the tallest waterfall standing at 100 feet. Visitors can explore observation decks along the river and even venture among the rocks along the shoreline for a closer view of the water.
Falls Park is a must-see in Sioux Falls! It’s a beautiful, clean, and well-maintained park where you can experience the stunning waterfalls up close and personal. The views are incredible, and the sound of the rushing water makes it a peaceful and memorable stop. While it can get busy at times, the park is spacious enough that it never feels overcrowded. There’s plenty of parking available all around the park, so even when it’s busy, finding a spot was no problem. A great place to walk, relax, take photos, and enjoy nature - right in town!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Must-Visit Gem in Sioux Falls! We took a day trip from Bellevue, NE to check out Falls Park, and we were absolutely blown away! It’s the perfect spot for a family outing. The kids had a blast exploring the park, and even our dog loved walking the scenic trails around the falls. The views are stunning, and there’s so much space to relax or let the little ones play. We were pleasantly surprised to find a splash pad, playground, and plenty of picnic areas. The nearby restaurants and entertainment options made it easy to spend the whole day here without ever getting bored. The entire area is clean, welcoming, and full of charm. Honestly, we loved it so much we’re seriously considering moving out here. If you’re anywhere near the area, or even if you’re not, Falls Park is well worth the drive. Can’t wait to come back! 🌊🌳🐾

Falls Park is gorgeous!! It's easy to get to, there is lots of history to learn, great photo ops, kept clean, the observation deck is nice to get a different angle of the park and the bathrooms and gift shop were very clean. Its a great spot for a picnic with the family, a date night, to just take in the peace, to clear your head and to enjoy some nature or to go for a walk. Plus it's dog friendly. Will definitely be coming back.
Kiersten M — Google review
Very clean and beautiful park. The falls does have quite a bit of trash in it though… other then that the grass is great and park looks very nice. The paths to walk though the trails bring you to great spots and you can walk on the rocks
Larry J — Google review
It is beautiful here. It is safe for children to go through and has steps in some areas and concrete paths. There are also opportunities for people to climb on some rocks too. Our family was able to go to the tower too with the small gift shop. The café was closed so we weren't able to try anything there. We spent around a little less than an hour here.
Michelle M — Google review
Absolutely beautiful park, historic setting, easy connection into the promenade to walk along the river downtown. Even when there are a lot of people it is large enough to feel like you still have the place to yourself. Lots of friendly ducks and geese.
Quackers K — Google review
The falls were beautiful. They had it so well laid out - lots of look-outs, walking paths and rocks to play on. I will say it is better to look from afar, up close you see how dirty the water is from people’s trash. So sad!! I would not let my kids or dogs play in the water.
Brenda S — Google review
There are several nice walking paths around the falls area. There are also many mice viewing areas. In addition, there are some buildings from the past and there is information signs giving history of the area.

Great Bear Ski Valley is a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts, offering downhill and cross-country trails, as well as a tubing park with its own lift. It's also a great spot for summer hiking. The ski area caters to all skill levels, making it perfect for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Visitors can rent equipment and take lessons before hitting the slopes on more than a dozen trails. In addition to skiing, the resort offers snow tubing and summer hiking opportunities.
I recently provided sound and lighting services for a wedding at Great Bear Ski Valley. The venue is fantastic, with a beautiful outdoor ceremony location backed with tall trees and the ski hill, a lofted upstairs dining area which overlooks the lower dining area and a perfectly situated dance area with a dance floor. There are also spaces for guestbook, cocktail tables, gift table, and a bar with its own seating and tables. It’s truly a fantastic venue for a wedding and on top of it all the staff is friendly and helpful! Whenever my clients say they’re having their event at Great Bear I always say, “Great choice!!” I highly recommend Great Bear Ski Valley for your next special event!

Took a nice walk through the Valley Trail. Very few others around this time of year. I wish it connected into a larger trail system, but it was nice to get out and explore a new place for a while. Will definitely make plans to return when the snow is on the ground.

My husband and I just had our wedding at Great Bear a few weeks ago. It was perfect. Exactly the vision I had in mind. Jayne and Jill and the whole team were great to work with. They pulled my brunch charcuterie vision to life and all our guests talked about how great the food was. When the weather was questionable they assured me we could make it work inside if needed. Thankfully we still got to have our wedding outside under the trees. It was a beautiful day.

We recently had our wedding ceremony and reception at Great Bear and we can't recommend them enough!! Jill and Jayne were AMAZING to work with, they made the whole process so easy for us. The venue is beautiful and they helped us achieve the vision we had for our day. 5 stars all around, we are so happy that we used them for our big day! Photo credit to KC Imagery in Sioux Falls

My husband and I got married at great bear 9/21 and I have to say it was the best day ever. Staff was all amazing and kind and follow instructions and requests to a T. My MoH requested no one come to me or my husband for any problems or questions and they did just that! Any minor flukes I had on my wedding day I was not aware of until the day after. They felt so personal with us even though I’m sure they host many weddings. Even though I didn’t eat much (my own fault 😅) the food was amazing and all my guest thought so as well and many were able to back for seconds. It was truly a wonderful experience and I recommend them for any upcoming event in your life. (Sorry for the lack of photos I’m still waiting on my photographer)

Came down here for a trail race and was very pleased! The scenery was great, and there are many trails for mountain biking and running!

Our family visited Great Bear Ski Valley in February and had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the equipment rental process was smooth and efficient. We highly recommend Great Bear, particularly for first-time skiers—it’s an excellent place to learn and enjoy the slopes.

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our wedding ceremony and reception at Great Bear. Jill and Jayne were the best to work with! They were incredibly responsive, helpful, caring and professional. They’re true experts, and it gave us so much peace of mind knowing they had every detail handled. They went above and beyond to make sure our day was absolutely perfect. The venue itself is stunning, the food was incredible, and we got so many compliments from our guests. If you're looking for a beautiful space with a top-notch team, I highly recommend Great Bear!

McKennan Park, the nucleus of the McKennan historical district, Avera McKennan hospital hosts dozens attractions and history for sioux falls. Huge trees, squirrels and a well manicured landscape set the atmosphere for recreation. Facilities include, over a dozen horseshoe pits, tennis courts, baseball, playground equipment, swimming pool(especially like this as they are slowly being replaced with splash pads Nationwide) tons of historical placards posted everywhere, rich green shrubbery, numerous gardens, restroom facilities and band shell that's been around as long as I can remember. Beautiful park... Highly recommend

Downtown Sioux Falls is a vibrant and charming area filled with local restaurants, boutiques, and weekly events. Visitors can enjoy retail therapy at Empire Mall or explore the Great Plains Zoo to see Amur tigers and Chilean flamingos. The area also offers attractions like the University of Sioux Falls campus, skiing opportunities, and golf getaways.
Just a great place to be. Night life is awesome. The holiday inn is a good place to stay and they have a great bar, and the food is awesome. There are more upscale restaurants and hotels, but this one is the right speed.

Pleasant town, falls are right near downtown and pretty. Surprisingly they're not as enormous as you'd think, looking at the pics. However, they're in a beautiful little setting easily accessible from downtown.

Noce to see once in the life. Should be nice also during freezing winter

Very clean, nice selection of stores, a few murals around which were nice to see.

It was very nice dining experience. The host greeted us right away. The server was very pleasant and helpful. And the rest of the service staff was very intuitive. Atmosphere is great if you're looking for that classic classy restaurant vibe. The food was prepared well nothing extraordinary but prepared well. Did not try the famous market bar this time maybe next time. We all enjoyed our meal steak was prepared properly The duck was a little overcooked but still very delicious with the lingenberry jam. Shared tiramisu for dessert it was very chocolate forward instead of coffee so for people with the sweet tooth it's very good. Overall very good experience we will be back.

Terrace Park is a picturesque destination offering a variety of attractions for visitors. The park boasts swimming pools, sports fields, and an open-air amphitheater. One of its highlights is the Shoto-Teien Japanese Gardens, originally designed in the 1920s and restored in the 1980s. The park's serene lake and lush greenery provide a perfect setting for leisurely strolls or more adventurous activities like fishing.

Very pretty arenment of trees and structures beside a beautiful lake
Reesa D — Google review
We visited the Japanese Garden. Very pretty. The only reason for 4 stars is that it is in various states of disrepair (some of it is under construction), benches have broken seats, waterfall not working, lights not working on pathways, and some trash.
Clever C — Google review
This is a beautiful park. It has something for everyone. Fishing, swimming, walking/running, baseball...or just relaxing while you take in the scenery. If I didn't live 4 hours away, I'd probably go here often

Absolutely love this place. It is our go-to place for everything. Taking a jog. around the lake is peaceful. A walk is a must for those seeking some time alone. Arrowhead Park, situated just outside Sioux Falls, offers a serene escape with its small lake and expansive grassy fields. The park's minimal development means it remains unaffected by light pollution, making it an ideal spot for stargazing and catching sight of the aurora borealis. Its natural beauty also makes it a popular choice for engagement photo shoots. Additionally, the park features picturesque trails and tranquil lakes for those seeking outdoor adventure.
This is a beautiful park with extensive trails. Great place to take kids and pets. Wildlife and picnic spots.
Ryan S — Google review
This is a decent park. We visited March 29th, 2024. There are picnic tables, a restroom building, Port a potties by the water features. Two seperate water features, one of which is specifically for feeding the water fowl. When we visited in the spring, the restroom building and barn were not open. There are 2 small parking lots, one located by the quarry pond, the other located farther up the road by the barn. I was a little disappointed by the handicap accessible trail. Most of the other trails had actual sidewalks, but the handicap accessible trail had asphalt paving which seemed a little in disrepair. Although you could utilize it for a wheelchair, there would be quite a few areas that might be harder to navigate, see pictures. This would be ideal to bring small children to play in the grassy area by the picnic tables. But, keep in mind bicycles, skateboards, and pets are not allowed.
April S — Google review
Nice place to go for a scenic walk through nature. You have your choice between grasslands or wooded trails. I opted for both. The 1888 barn is a beautiful piece of history and the duck pond surrounded by bluffs is a popular spot. I saw 3 different couples out with photographers, which speaks for how beautiful the setting is.
Quackers K — Google review
This is a beautiful little park just outside of the city. There’s great walking trails that are paved, fairly level, and non-strenuous. They are clearly marked with length also so you can plan your walk. There’s a couple of primitive trails that go into the ravine also, great if you want a little more variety. Even these off-road trails are clearly marked and not particularly challenging. There’s a pond and a quarry, both are home to large flocks of mallard ducks, Canadian geese, and huge Greylag geese. They will happily eat whatever you offer, so make sure to read the signs and ONLY offer them approved nutritious food. No crackers or bread! There’s plenty of parking, a porta-potty on site, a couple of picnic tables, and some benches throughout the trails for a rest. Keep in mind, the park closes at sundown and there is NO lighting on the trails. It can be quite confusing to find your way back to the parking lot in the dark, so plan your walk to end before sunset. You’ll also want to watch your feet- goose poop is abundant on the trails.
Amy N — Google review
This is a great park to go walking at if you like that. It was very peaceful not much to do other than walk around on the paths. There is a public restroom as well which was nice.
Tanya S — Google review
Fun spot to relax and take in the beauty of nature all around this Park. Enjoyed watching the ducks and geese swimming around the natural spring lake. Some families were getting formal Autumn pictures taken around the park with the golden color of trees lined up as a backdrop for the portraits! I recommend visiting there anytime you want to treat yourself with a Time of JOY! You won't regret it@

Very pretty here! This is an easy Walk/hike with kids. There are A lot of Grasshopers, they are loud and On the Pathway while you are walking. They have benches Throughout your path to take a break. To find the Barn follow th Sign once you enter, it will take you through a long road.

Sertoma Park is a delightful gem nestled in Sioux Falls, perfect for families and nature lovers alike. This park boasts an impressive butterfly house and a sprawling playground featuring five playpods that will keep the little ones entertained for hours. One of its standout attractions is the massive climbing dome, which not only provides endless fun but also makes for fantastic photo opportunities on sunny days.
Sertoma Park is a beautiful, well-maintained spot that’s perfect for families, walkers, and anyone looking for a peaceful escape in the city. The trails are easy to follow and connect nicely with other green spaces, making it great for biking or strolling. The Butterfly House & Aquarium next door is a wonderful bonus, and the playground area is clean and inviting for kids. Plenty of open space, shaded areas, and picnic spots make it ideal for a relaxing afternoon. On busy weekends, parking can be a bit tight, but the overall atmosphere more than makes up for it. A gem in Sioux Falls.
Nan K — Google review
The aquarium consists of only one room of tanks from different coral reefs. The cost doesn't equal the experience. All the touch tanks were also closed. The Butterfly house is four times bigger and was nice. Better for little kids.
Monique M — Google review
Kids always love playing at Sertoma Park. It's a safe area with many different age appropriate things grouped together for the kids to play on different things.
Warren K — Google review
This has been a favorite for my kids for 13 years. Still go because I have two younger boys. Park is clean and multiple things to do. Love the trails.
Vanessa R — Google review
Wonderful place to play and learn. It is only a stone throw from the butterfly house. The playground area is all newer. Set up by age so the littles are not trying to play with big kids around. It has a listening pipe. You can whisper into one end and someone on the other end can hear you. Then it has a planet size ratio with the sun. The wood chip pile was enjoyed by all ages. The area was clean and well kept. No broken equipment. Restroom and picnic are were clean. Fun for all.
P R — Google review
I first went back to the dog area, despite having no dog. There was a nice, wide dirt path that circled a pond where you can canoe. I later took the trail down to Yankton Park to walk along the river (very short walk away). This park has the largest jungle gym I've ever seen in my life, and what is surely the largest covered picnic area in town. Did not go into the Butterfly House but will definitely return for this.
Quackers K — Google review
This park has a ton of stuff to do, great shade, wonderful gathering area! I highly recommend Churches book this for live performances too.

Was a really cool park with such a huge dome like structure that you can climb on and go under. Also a great wide open area for lots of different activities. Terrace Park Japanese Gardens is a serene and picturesque spot in Sioux Falls, featuring stunning architecture, stone stairways, and beautiful water's edge perfect for reflection. The garden offers endless photo opportunities for families and seniors alike. The pathway along the water is particularly enchanting with tall grasses, green trees, and the morning sun casting a golden glow. The lush green vines on the terrace make mid to late summer and early fall the best times to visit.
I love this place. So great to walk through here. Was here I had my senior pictures done. Also located right next to Terrace Park swimming pool. Other park facilities like a ball diamond and "street soccer" courts. Also a band shelter on the top part of this park. Eye-shot of the Denny Premier Center.

It was customary to stop by a Japanese Garden. I will try it again during cherryblossom season and see if it looks more appealing. I think the water being turned off took away from some of the aesthetics

Terrace Park Japanese Gardens is a pretty neat park to walk around in or relax at and read a book. It would also make a great back drop for taking senior pictures. The Japanese aspect of the place wasn't quite as much as I was expecting, and the overall gardens are pretty small. You can see the whole thing in 15 minutes or less. Still neat to check out if you are in the area.

This was our first stop while in Sioux Falls on a trip. It was really unique and beautiful but I felt like it would be better to visit in a warmer month when there is more vegetation so in my opinion come in summertime. Unfortunately we saw some trash and random graffiti in a few places. It’s sad people do these things to such a cool spot. Hopefully in the warmer months they maintain this better and clean it up. It didn’t ruin the experience but was upsetting to see. This area is directly adjacent to a small lake and the terrace park making it easy to explore all of the area. The Japanese Gardens itself is a relatively small place and you could walk and see it all in about 15 minutes, however it would be a great place to relax and read a book or enjoy the lake. I’m only giving 3 stars because it seemed to not be well maintained over the winter and also due to the trash and graffiti. The beautiful setting and uniqueness earn it 3 stars for me. Please improve this park Sioux Falls! It has wonderful potential. Older photos of the park seemed much nicer than present day. I’m hoping it’s just left alone during the winter and that’s why it’s not looking great like other photos showed it.

Kewl stuff! Nice place to relax if it’s not over-run by homeless folks. At certain times of day it’s a bath house. When people are there to see the beauty it’s not so bad!!!

I usually wait a day or two to cool down before I review a place after a bad experience, but this was my wedding and the Sioux Falls Parks Department blew it. We reserved the park in July for our October wedding. We were told the garden was maintained “weather permitting” through mid October. Wedding was the 13th and the weather has been beautiful so we figured it would still look nice. On October 12, one day before the wedding that they knit was booked, we found men in the park cutting down all the flowers. They also turned off the waterfall. Ok, disappointing that they couldn’t wait ONE MORE DAY, and it felt like they were going out of their way to do this since it was Sunday evening. But we hadn’t been expressly promised that the flowers and waterfall would be running so I was prepared to let that go. However, on the day of my wedding the Parks Department really went the extra mile to wreck my wedding. We had the reservation from 10-2. We arrived to decorate and arrange the benches and had everything ready to go down at the pavilion, and went up the hill to set up for the reception in the picnic area. At 10:40 I went down the stairs to get in place for the wedding, and discovered that In that 30 minutes time, SOMEONE HAD COME AND TAKEN AWAY EVERY BENCH AND THE DECORATIONS WE HAD JUST PLACED FOR OUR WEDDING. Let me repeat to be clear- our paid wedding reservation was from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and at 10:40 AM, the Parks Department took it upon themselves to remove all the benches from the wedding area and tear down our decorations. I immediately called the parks office, and got a message that the office was closed for the holiday. The Parks Department was CLOSED, but their employees had, on a Sunday evening and again on a holiday Monday morning, decided to completely screw us over. My mom happened to see the employees driving away with the benches and literally chased their truck on foot. She told them we needed the benches back, they said “our boss told us to pick them up”. She said I don’t care what your boss told you, put them back. They came back with the truck and three benches. Three small benches that maybe seat 3-4 people each. We told the guys that’s not enough, we have 25 people. They begrudgingly said “I guess we’ll bring them all back”. They finally brought enough benches and our decorations that they’d removed, so we re-decorated while the guests waited. Immediately after the ceremony, as I was climbing back up the hill, the man said “are you done yet?” Dude. I got married 3 minutes ago. You can wait until 2 pm when my reservation ends. I fully intend to get a full refund on the fee we paid to reserve this venue. Absolutely appalling.

It's the perfect place to find everything you need to spruce up your living space.
I love this store! Anything you need for your home is here. It’s basically Bed Bath & Beyond with furniture and more! Great prices, huge selection and seasonal items. Going in the summer time, there is a great outdoor selection. You will find everything you need from patio furniture to decorations. Towels, rugs, bar stools, ottoman, TV stand, dressers, kitchen items, mirrors, pictures, lamps and so much more. Wear comfortable shoes, it’s a large store. There isn’t a lot of help in this store itself but when you find a larger item, there are people available to help. They also offer online ordering with pickup.

This is an insanely enormous home store with a little of everything. The feel is like wandering through a warehouse with stuff loosely grouped together by type. You can definitely find bargains here (we found lampshades that we really like!) but it is a time-consuming store.

Love my balcony rug and pillows I bought for my outdoor furniture. Next new cushions. They have such a variety of items. Outdoor and indoor furniture and rugs. Isles of pillows and bedding and home decor and more at affordable prices. Check it out. And, the Sioux Falls store is not closing.

Went in the store to find a little candle holder for the candle my daughter made in Girl Scouts tonight. It was very slow in the store. We were goofing around tooting on decorative bottles like flutes, and an employee walked around the corner and rudely, and abruptly told us to "put those down or leave the store" and walked away. I couldn't believe it. That will be our last visit to The Home store. With employees like that, I wouldn't expect it to last long.

Minervas Restaurant is a long-standing fine-dining establishment in Sioux Falls, offering a range of delectable dishes from grilled favorites to seafood. The restaurant's building has a rich history, having served as various establishments since 1917. With its stylish and plush ambiance featuring crisp white tablecloths and elegant wood fixtures, Minervas has been providing the Midwest with exquisite dining experiences since 1977.
We went to Minerva’s for lunch based upon the reviews. We usually avoid any restaurants that have anything related to a “food bar or salad bar”. The restaurant is well decorated and very relaxing/comfortable atmosphere. The lunch menu is perfect size to order from, it’s not like some restaurants that have too many selections. The prices are great, at least to us. We’re used to DC/VA prices. We broke our rule and had the salad bar and soup du jour. The salad bar was beyond our expectations. It was clean, sanitary and the selection of vegetables, pastas, meats etc was amazing. The soup was delicious as well. If we lived here it definitely be at the top of restaurants we frequent. Our server (Deb C) was a delight. The restaurant is clean, the service perfect and staff very friendly. A solid restaurant to dine for lunch or dinner.

Minerva’s in downtown Sioux Falls continues to uphold its reputation as a solid choice for a refined dining experience. We had a reservation booked 12 hours in advance and were seated promptly upon arrival—a great start to our evening. Our server, Olivia, was a highlight of the night. She was friendly, attentive, and well-versed in the menu, offering thoughtful answers to our questions and making us feel welcome throughout the meal. The food came out in a timely manner. My wife’s breaded walleye was particularly impressive—crispy on the outside, flaky and flavorful on the inside, and generously portioned. My rainbow trout, while fresh, was just average and could have benefited from a more dynamic sauce. There were a couple of service-related delays at the start of our visit. It took about five minutes before we were initially greeted with water and another five before our drink orders were taken. It was an additional 15 minutes before our drinks—a beer and a mojito—arrived. While that lag was noticeable, it’s worth noting that it was a bustling Friday evening in the heart of downtown, and my wife wisely pointed out that the bar was likely operating at full capacity. Overall, Minerva’s delivered a pleasant dinner with courteous service and well-prepared entrees. While there were a few hiccups with drink service, the atmosphere and professionalism of the staff made for an enjoyable evening.

What an amazing establishment! I sat at the bar and service was friendly and fast. Plenty of seating indoors. I started with the Caesar salad and ended up getting the pheasant risotto, which was amazing. I also got the red velvet soufflé for dessert. I highly recommend if you’re looking for a great place to eat!

This place was amazing. Our dinner was perfect. We both had steak and it was cooked to perfection. Louis was our waiter and he was the best ….so accommodating, and friendly. It was our anniversary and he graciously treated us to a fun dessert. We had a great evening and would highly recommend this place. The atmosphere was awesome too.

Salmon tasted fresh, curry just had the right kick and both were the perfect size for lunch. Salad bar had variety and would also have been a good choice for lunch. The restaurant had a mix of old world charm and modern design. It was busy for a weekday lunch crowd. Jersey was attentive and kept our water glasses full. Paid street parking and right in the historic center.

We were in town only on our way to Dallas, SD., for pheasant hunting when two of our bags didn't make the plane so we had 5 hrs to kill in Souix Falls mid day and googled steak houses near us. This was the only one open at 2. It was AMAZING! The moment us NC boys walked in, they made us feel like we were right at home. Waitress was 10 our of 10 in every aspect. Steaks and salad bar phenomenal. Highly recommend.

Superb restaurant venue in downtown. My girlfriend and I like to get their entrée and salad bar combo. A good meal plus unlimited trips to the salad bar, and unlimited soups? Absolutely! Their salad bar has good salad options, smoked salmon, cuts of meat, cheese. Grade A options. Their soups are good too. Entrées include beef stroganoff with egg noodles, delicious burgers, steak. It's hard to take the wrong exit with menu at Minerva's. We've been here a couple of times. We'll be back again.

Visitors can enjoy the ever-changing display as each sculpture is loaned for one year, ensuring there's always something new to see.
The City has done an amazing job with their downtown area. It's really impressive how they consistently bring new sculpture art to the main walking areas. It's changed on a regular basis. It's always fresh and new to me and I love seeing it every time I visit. Brilliant long term planning. It gives your heart a lift to stroll through downtown and see it.

What a fun way to experience down town Sioux Falls! There is a map you can use online to get to all the sculptures. My husband and I concluded our date night with a beautiful stroll through down town admiring the metallurgy of some of the pieces. It was fun to find out where each piece came from and was pleasantly surprised to see names of local artists in our neck of the woods. Definitely would recommend.

For a more interactive encounter, guests can touch gentle sharks and stingrays in the Touch Pool. The attraction also provides educational opportunities, allowing visitors to learn about various species from around the world.
Took the kiddos here while visiting Sioux Falls. Loved it! The touch pool at the aquarium part was closed but there were still some sea buddies we could see! The kids enjoyed it. Then we did the flower spritz things for the butterflies. You hold the flowers while walking through the butterfly house & there's a chance they can land on them so you see them really up close and personal. It was extra cost but worth it. Not too expensive & memories made!
Stormie — Google review
This is a small but enjoyable aquarium and butterfly house. Takes 1-2 hours max to see and experience it all. Buy the optional butterfly flower for kids. It was lightly attended the day we visited (a Thursday in June) which made it nice.
David L — Google review
Once in a lifetime experience. You have to visit. Don't forget to get the $3 flower for attracting the butterflies. Also if you get the Monarch Zoo Membership you can visit the zoo, butterfly House and much more. I got the single pass but every visit I can bring a guest as well.
Servant M — Google review
This was great fun for my 5&6 year olds! They were a little disappointed that the touch tanks were closed when we went but I also completely understand the need. It's not a large place and I don't know the price completely justified the experience but it was fun. I do recommend renting a butterfly feeder, the kids really enjoyed that part!
Ashley K — Google review
This place was a very nice experience, sharing time with the butterflies and, at the same time, experiencing their small aquarium. It's a very peaceful place to relax and simply enjoy the sounds of nature and the freedom of the animals. I would definitely recommend this place for a date.
Saray G — Google review
Butterfly feeder flowers are unreasonably expensive! They should come with the entrance fee to the Butterfly house. When a grandparent takes their 4 grands out for the afternoon the added $2.80 for each kid to have a flower is an unexpected expense and hardship. This is also on top of say an earlier trip to the zoo, lunch out then ending with the Butterfly House. It was also disappointing that the "touching experience" in the aquatic area was closed due to staffing issues.
Warren K — Google review
Great place to check out. Really enjoyed the butterflies. Be sure to get a flower to take with you from the desk. When we got ready to leave I gave it to someone else that didn't have one. I didn't know to take one and a little boy gave me his before he left. The butterflies will sit on the flower while you hold it.

Great little zoo! It is under construction currently, but it was a nice set up & there are some unique species available to learn more about. Seems very family friendly & there is a little splash park inside the zoo to help littles cool off on hot days. As a zoo aficionado, I would visit again. It is definitely sized so that you can see just about everything in half a day without feeling rushed & stopping to interact with exhibits or keepers.
Chelsea E — Google review
We loved the zoo overall. Some of the enclosures were empty/animals in places different than the map showed. Everything shuts down at 4:30 even though the park closes at 5. Highly recommend bringing a swimsuit and towel for littles to enjoy the splash pad. The mother’s nest in the gift shop at the main entrance is a nice place to escape the heat and sun and nurse/change a little one.
Anna S — Google review
Fare admission price, little bit expensive food, but the food was really good. Many different kinds of animals living in the zoo. I love the fact that the zoo has a splash pad for kids. They have a petting zoo with many cute baby animals 😍. My baby also enjoyed merry go around ride!
Stacy K — Google review
Nice, little zoo! Came here with the kids & they loved it! Not too big nor too small! Was able to walk the whole place in about an hour and a half with littlest! Lots of animals, photo statues, etc! Not too expensive, they have wagons you can borrow/rent & a cafe!
Stormie — Google review
This was a great experience with our family. There are lots of different animals to look at and plenty of places for the kids to rest and have a good time. Highly recommend!
Josh M — Google review
Love going, rarely get to...but things have really gone downhill since a year or two ago. Many animals were either temporarily moved or gone. Love the gift shop, excellent popcorn, they have others like coffees boba fountain and freezee. But it was horrible, the prices of anything was skyrocketed way to much for probably most who visit. A small sized slushy $10, I got just two ice waters and it cost me $6. If you're on SNAP bring proof and ID and the kids are way cheaper to get in. All it is is a bunch of construction. DO NOT go on the kids train that circles the outer perimeter of the zoo. If you're lucky you might see just one animal, horrible location!
Melissa A — Google review
I thought it was a very nice place to go with the family. The zoo has a variety of animals, and they look well cared for. Plus, you can see them up close, which enhances the experience. I thought the admission price was very good. The only thing I didn't like so much is that I feel like some spaces (if not all) of the animal habitats should be a little bigger.

Really fun field trip experience with elementary age kids. It was raining but they setup fun activities indoors. This is a cute place to hold a small wedding or event!

This is one of the most wonderful places that I visited on my road trip to Sioux Falls. It is so beautiful here. They have a huge variety of many different plant species to check out. They have lots of beautiful flowers in bloom as well. One of the things I really appreciated was that there is name tags by each of the plants of their names. There's a nice little waterfall as well. The educational center was not open when I went. Free admission.
B A — Google review
If you haven’t yet visited the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum, it’s time you did!! Over the years I’ve come to appreciate being able to see mature plants in a landscape setting. I enjoy shopping at plant nurseries but it’s so difficult determining how a plant might look in say 5-10 years... The arboretum is beautiful and immaculately cared for. That being said, I do think they could do a much better job being environmentally-conscious. Their parking lot drains to an area that’s supposed to be a wetland (to filter pollution and provide wildlife habitat). They even have a display with a photo of how it should look and function... For some reason they mow the entire area, completely ignoring their own educational sign!! Also, their pond and waterfall are nice touches but are colored blue and treated with herbicides so that they look like something sterile and synthetic like you’d see at Disney World. Such a wasted opportunity for a naturally beautiful pond that could be beneficial to all sorts of wildlife...

A stainless steel sculpture dedicated to dreaming, the Arc of Dreams is located in downtown Sioux Falls and spans an entire football field. The 85-foot tall structure rises overlooking the river. Created by Dale Claude Lamphere, it is one of South Dakota's newest landmarks.
No tickets required... Arc of Dreams: Monumental stainless steel sculpture spanning the Big Sioux River with a center gap representing a leap of faith. The Arc of Dreams is a tribute to the dreamers of the past and present and an inspiration to the dreamers of the future.
Sandra R — Google review
Beautiful art installment. This a massive stainless-steel sculpture that spans the length of a football field across the Big Sioux River downtown between 6th and 8th streets. At the center of the Arc of Dreams is a 15-foot gap, 85-feet above the river, representing the leap of faith dreamers take to see their dreams come true. The angle is weird to me, the bridge seems to also we at a funny part of the river, all new to me in my life here. Born and raised here in Sioux Falls and welcome the attention art in the community. Low crime rate, but there are homeless wandering around in this area more than others. Make sure you walk down to the falls. Make the whole loop. It is worth it.

Very cool. The downtown river walk is a great place!

Nice sculpture, didn’t get to see it lit up at night, but still cool to see even during the day
Chris W — Google review
What an incredible display of hopes and dreams located along the much improved riverfront in beautiful downtown Sioux Falls. A must see if you're in the area. It is lit up at night for an especially scenic experience.
Food J — Google review
This is a perfect lil urban wander wonder
Jon B — Google review
What a great sculpture by a SD sculptor/artist. We love coming here on cool pleasant nights to see it lit up and see the night life and city lights. Lots of nearby parking, no steps, very accessible to all, even those handicapped in walkers and wheelchairs. Can't wait for the 1st snow for more great pictures.
Thomas I — Google review
The Arc of Dreams... It is worth taking a walk and just reminiscing on life... Arching metal structure with intimate lighting over the river. There is a small bridge and the cutest museum/history area to provide some insight behind this mysterious structure. Sit under the Arc and dream of happiness. Smile... Recommend to visit!

Cherry Rock Park is a hidden gem that locals adore, offering a serene escape with its picturesque creek and interconnected trails. This park is perfect for those seeking an intimate setting, whether it’s for a romantic morning walk followed by a delightful breakfast picnic or simply enjoying the beauty of nature. Families will appreciate the sand volleyball courts where kids can unleash their energy while playing in the sand.
I recently took a walk in this park, and it was an 🌟 incredible experience. The path was well-maintained, surrounded by 🌳 beautiful trees showcasing the 🍂 golden colors of autumn. The cool, crisp 🌬️ weather added to the charm, making it a perfect day for a peaceful stroll. The atmosphere felt almost out of this 🌍 world, and I left feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Whether you’re looking for a place to 🚶‍♂️ walk or 🚴‍♂️ bike, this park is sure to surprise and delight you.
Roman L — Google review
I take my dog here to the bike trails section often and he loves it here. I like the mix between the open park area and the hike/bike wooded trail
Julia G — Google review
Kids enjoyed the climbing equipment at the park. Very nice bike and walking trail system. Good river views from bridge.
Ben K — Google review
Great park in a residential area. Direct access to the main 19 mile bike trail loop, along the river with nice tree coverage. Sand volleyball pits, a baseball field and plenty of open grass. Two small playgrounds, likely for 12 or under. Seasonal restroom facilities and a year round portable toilet. Air for bikes and a minimal bike maintenance station. My favorite park along the trails! A couple miles to walk downtown from here so there are closer parks/trail heads. Railroad tracks cross the entrance so you can get stuck waiting from time to time.
Josh S — Google review
Cherry Rock Park is a nice park with adequate playground equipment for varying ages. It was clean when my family and I recently visited. I was able to take some breathtaking shots just before sunset of the view from the old RR bridge. It is a wonderful place to take your kiddies, as well as go bike riding or for taking a walk. Bridge is constructed to accommodate both walkers and bike riders.
Tonya S — Google review
Paths are nice. Old steel Bridge over river is great. Ducks, geese. Open grass areas for play. Baseball diamond.
Vicki E — Google review
Very well manicured, volleyball courts with a decent layer of sand, a beautiful old steel bridge that is now used as a pedestrian river crossing. The trail conveniently connects you to Riverdale Park, Rotary Park and Palsey Park on the East side, with periodic opportunities to cross over into other parks on the West Bank of the river.
Quackers K — Google review
This is a nice place to pass a good evening with family and kids and you also could go on a walk in the beautiful walking trail

Sioux Falls, named after the majestic Big Sioux River, offers a blend of history and natural beauty. The Cathedral Historic District showcases late-1800s architecture with grand Victorian-era houses that once belonged to the city's elite. Nearby Falls Park boasts the stunning three-tiered falls of the Big Sioux River, providing picturesque views and opportunities for exploration along its red quartzite rocks.

Kayaking the Big Sioux is great, with the recent flooding going down finally the water is still moving fast and the river is a mess, but it's still a beautiful ride..
T K — Google review
Good fishing spot if you can stand the smell of John Marrels. I don't recommend bring kids. Most spots you have to climb down rocks and steep embankment.
Matthew T — Google review
I love to stop along the river and say "Thank you!" to Mother nature in all her wonders! For all the life she sustains and the beauty she beholds! I pray along the river to remember our loved ones who have lost their lives over the years. Mitakuye Oyasin...All my relations!

Only doing 3 stars because I'm not sure what part of the river this is. Fish it North of Sioux Falls and bring the kids with and we have a great time. Will try to get some pics and locations next time out.

If you're wandering through Downtown Sioux Falls, make sure to swing by Stogeez Cigar Lounge, a fantastic spot for unwinding after a long day. This lounge boasts comfy seating and an impressive selection of cigars and beverages that cater to all tastes. The atmosphere is inviting, with excellent ventilation ensuring you can enjoy your smoke without the lingering odor. While the large space may lack some intimacy compared to smaller lounges, it’s perfect for travelers looking to relax.
Fantastic place to have a drink and a cigar after work. Open late and very comfortable atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Hayden B — Google review
Cool cigar lounge in SF. Cigars are priced fair. Large humidor was locked upon my visit, bar man had about 20 sticks for sale behind bar. Solid selection. It's a large space, other cigar lounge had more 'intimacy' in my experience, however this will do for a weary traveler! Plenty of parking.
William K — Google review
For a cigar bar it was okay, the selection was a bit limited but good over all. The menu was excellent, listing all cigars by flavor. If you're in the area, it is definitely worth a stop
Chris R — Google review
A great place to relax, have a drink with (or without) friends after a weekday work day. Comfy chairs and nice selection of Cigars and beverages. Ventilation is top notch so the place doesn't smell of stale smoke, nor is it a smokey place. If you're downtown, stop in and check 'em out! Watch for the schedule for the live entertainment as well! **Update: Sometimes ventilation isn't the best, so you may come out smelling of smoke**
Joshua G — Google review
Outdoor seating was great. Live music on Thursday was VERY good. Best cosmopolitan I ever had.
Linda H — Google review
Amazing drink prices and bourbon selection!!! Cigars are well selected across a range of strength and flavor! Will absolutely be back. Bar tender very familiar with cigars and liquors to assist in selections!!! Had a Mac Orange and Basal Hayden Dark Rye.
Dusty T — Google review
Friendly helpful staff, reasonable prices. Decent selection in the humidor. Amazing atmosphere!

Best drinks and service, best atmosphere, best place downtown. I will miss this place the most when I move. (Edit) I now live in Orlando and occasionally fly back to Sioux Falls just to go here with friends.
