Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium is a true gem nestled in the heart of Nebraska, sprawling across 130 acres of beautifully designed habitats. This remarkable zoo features the largest indoor desert and rainforest in North America, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in diverse ecosystems filled with exotic wildlife.
This zoo is huge, but so worth going. Probably need 2 days to really go through the entire zoo. I would love to go again. My son loves Elephants and this was his first time seeing them, so precious. Great memories for him and his sister loves Giraffes. The African Safari area is massive. The animals have so much space to roam freely and they look like they are well taken care of! The Jungle area is so pretty inside. The Aquarium was amazing! Great place to hang out in on a hot day in August. The gorillas were a blast to see, their enclosure was amazing. Food in the safari area was expensive for what you get as is all the drinks/snacks you can buy there. I would definitely recommend this zoo and go early when they open. Definitely try not to go when it’s super hot, you’ll be doing lots of walking to see everything. They have a train to ride, a sky lift and a track like ride through the park also. It costs $1.25 per stop.

Omaha’s Henry Doorly Zoo is truly one of the best zoos I’ve ever visited! The aquarium was my absolute favorite — beautifully designed and so fun to explore. We also enjoyed the Skyfari ride, the train, and the carousel (we got the ticket with the ride pass, which was worth it). It’s also nice that you can bring your own iced coffee or drinks, though there are certain areas where food and beverages aren’t allowed. Watching the gorillas laze around and nap was hilarious, and the seal exhibit was another highlight — we could’ve stayed there for hours. The Zoo Passport was a fun little activity that added to the experience. The zoo itself is huge, so plan ahead and wear comfy shoes. There’s lots of parking and plenty of food options. Overall, such an amazing experience — definitely a 5/5!

I visited in October 2025, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The zoo grounds were beautifully maintained, with vibrant fall foliage that made just walking through the park a pleasure. Everything was spotless — it’s clear the staff takes great pride in the upkeep. The IMAX movies were a pleasant surprise — we saw features on oceans and elephants, and both were informative and visually stunning. Definitely worth the time! Among the highlights were the butterfly pavilion, which was peaceful and magical, and the aquarium, which was absolutely fantastic. Every animal we saw looked healthy and well cared for. The giraffe exhibit is open and scenic, and the elephant enclosure is especially impressive — massive, naturalistic, and clearly designed with the animals’ wellbeing in mind. It was great to see them playing and swimming freely. We also loved watching the sea otters, penguins, and big cats — all active and entertaining. For lunch, we stopped at the Aquarium Café, and the food was much better than I expected from a zoo café. The salad was crisp and fresh, and the chicken pasta was hot, flavorful, and satisfying. This was truly a day to remember. I highly recommend visiting — just be sure to plan for the whole day, because there’s so much to see and do. It’s one of the best zoos I’ve ever experienced.

I have been here a couple of times. Visiting this famous zoo is always a great experience. Here's my review: I went here on a Saturday, arrived around 11:00, and there was plenty of parking. I recommend getting tickets online since arriving at the entrance, there are long lines for getting tickets physically, but going into the zoo took less than 2 minutes. You can also bring some snacks and your water bottle so you don't have to buy the more expensive food or drinks. From there we just enjoyed the zoo and took a lot of pics. And just seeing these animals up close is just awesome. Hope some of you guys find this helpful see ya👋
Fernando R — Google review
Enjoyed my experience at the zoo. It had a good variety of displays, I didn't even get to go through the entire place. I liked the alligator and crocodile section, this might be the first zoo I've been to that had it. It's too bad about the red panda, I was looking forward to it but didn't hear what happened until I was there. It wasn't overly crowded too which is always great. I wish the gift shop stayed opened later though, I didn't get to check it out. I would definitely come check it out again next time I'm in town!
Claudine L — Google review
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Such a cool place! Best zoo I’ve ever been too. All I could say is that this place is how I thoughts every zoo I’ve been to should have been! The aspect of the booms, the sheer nimble of elephants. All the animals looked healthy and happy. Loved all the different animal packs like being at a safari. Even after spending almost a full day there. There’s still a lot left for me to see
John B — Google review
Awesome Zoo! Great exhibits and variety of animals. Reasonable priced entry and they encourage bringing your own water bottle to refill. My only advise is get there early and do the desert done and aquarium as some of your first stops as they can get a little crowded
Ana B — Google review
I never knew how fun could be on a rainy day but that’s when I went. It was nice seeing staff out dropping information while we did out walk around. The bird dome feels like you’re transported to a totally different place watch out above. The butterfly dome was my favorite for sure felt like a movie watching so many species flying around with such pretty plants. I believe this zoo has the biggest swamp in North America. I big display of the penguins was breathtaking watching them dive in and out of the water was truly amazing. Hopefully next time I come back I can see the other exhibits before they close

History Museums
The Durham Museum, located in the grand Art Deco-style Union Station train terminal, offers a captivating journey through Nebraska's history. The museum's permanent and traveling exhibits delve into various aspects of regional heritage, from Native American homes to the development of local landmarks. Visitors can explore interactive displays on Omaha and Union Pacific railroads, including beautifully restored train cars dating back to 1890.
A beautiful old train station with plenty of history and exhibits to enjoy. You can easily spend 1-2 hours in here. Staff is friendly and everything is clean. This is one of the best museums in the midwest!
Isaac A — Google review
Wow! There is a lot more here than initially meets the eye. When you park on the top level of the parking deck, you see the upper of level of the former train station. The crown jewel exhibit is the waiting room with its art deco design... It's truly beautiful. Then on the lower level, you'll learn a lot about Omaha ... It's architecture, it's companies, and it's people. The fun of walking through multiple railroad cars with luxury accommodations. Furthmore, there are so many interesting facts about the city and it's emergence as a critical city.
Gregory — Google review
I’m from Georgia and I was taking my first solo trip to Nebraska. I stopped at the Lauritzen Garden and asked a random couple what they would recommend me visit. They quickly replied the Durham museum. I stepped inside the old train station now museum and I was just blown away by it. I was then warmly greeted at the front entrance. I asked where I should start my experience and the gentleman said I think you should start downstairs where the museum is located. The museum is so well put together!I spent a couple of hours there.
T D — Google review
Worth seeing if you have time to spare while visiting Omaha and want to take a brief step back in time to learn more about what train travel was like in the 1930s. Also includes many other historical exhibits going back to the 1700-1800s. Great museum overall.
Howard S — Google review
So so fun! Always hosting events and presenting new exhibits! Means you can come again and again and not get tired ❤️
Ila G — Google review
Definitely recommend this awesome historical and hands-on Museum! The history of Omaha is fascinating and the exhibits do a wonderful job. And you have to keep going back because their temporary exhibits are phenomenal.
Ryan D — Google review
Enjoyed seeing the past and walking through the train cars. Decided to get a membership since they change what being displayed regularly. The people were friendly and informative about the displays.

One of the best museums I have visited dedicated to trains! The union station is a magnificent art deco building. Everything inside is well thought out and perfectly curated.

Museums
The Joslyn Art Museum is a captivating blend of 1930s Art Deco architecture and modern design by Norman Foster. The exterior boasts colorful Dale Chihuly glasswork, setting the stage for an eclectic collection of European, American, Asian, Native American, Latin American, and contemporary art inside. Kids can enjoy the Discovery Garden while adults explore outdoor sculptures or visit the Minds Eye Gallery featuring original pieces from beloved children's book illustrators.
It is a free museum. Dogs are allowed on the property, but not in the museum. I recommend picking up a map in the lobby, as there are lots of rooms and hallways. You can very easily spend a couple of hours there. There are certain rooms in the museum that you can't go in without a ticket, but most of the museum is open for anybody. They have beautiful paintings and artifacts. The architecture in the building is amazing, and they have engravings on the outside of the building as well.
Sadie K — Google review
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this museum. In addition to offering stunning architecture, the art itself is eclectic and on par with some of the museums we have explored in Europe. There is also an amazing room downstairs for kids to express their creativity. Truly, this museum offers something for all ages.
Sarah W — Google review
The Joslyn is a great art museum. I saw a Thomas Heart Benton, a Monet, and a Degas. I can't help but compare it to the Nelson-Atkins, even though it is smaller with a smaller collection. Just like the Nelson, it is a few buildings with different styles attached to each other. The buildings are just as beautiful as the art they house. It's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon. I really appreciated that many of the signage was in English and Spanish. The grounds are beautiful.
Kate — Google review
Building is gorgeous and the newer addition is stunning. Everything is so well kept and immaculate. Such an interesting story of the man and woman that started it and I was impressed with the foundations supporting it and the artwork. Free admission supported by The Holland Foundation-so generous!
Mary A — Google review
This was my first time visiting Joslyn in almost 25 years as I no longer live in the area. I grew up in Omaha and visited Joslyn many times over the years for school trips, for family enlightenment of the arts, also for their Jazz on the Green concerts where we would visit the museum before the concerts. Visiting the Joslyn this time I was very impressed with the recent building additions as well as the art collections in the various galleries. Well done Joslyn, this museum would be good fit for any city anywhere. Plus free parking and free admission, wow.
Leon B — Google review
Absolutely stunning museum! I would definitely recommend. Beautiful artwork and wonderful place to spend the afternoon. It is free of charge, clean, and lovely.
Jayne W — Google review
The Original part of the building, made of Georgia Pink Marble, and the addition with the Glass Atrium are a piece of art themselves. The gardens are beautiful. It wasn't too busy on my visit. Parking was not an issue as I had anticipated. The museum is free, some special exhibitions are not though.
Kelly S — Google review
A local in Omaha recommended the Joslyn Art Museum, mentioning that it was free. This raised my spider senses since free art museums are typically smaller, have limited collections, and are often staffed by younger adults who aren’t very enthusiastic. None of that applies to the Joslyn Art Museum, zilch nada. The building is a work of art itself and houses a collection that could rival well-renowned art museums in larger cities. It was very impressive and definitely worth the visit. With that said, the proof is in the pudding; check it out yourself!

Lauritzen Gardens is a 100-acre botanical paradise that showcases an ever-changing array of plants and flowers throughout the year. The gardens feature various garden styles, including herb, rose, and peony gardens, as well as a Victorian garden and a dedicated children's green space. Visitors can also explore the Marjorie K. Daugherty Conservatory with its tropical palm trees and lush greenery.
An absolutely gorgeous place that is a must-see for anyone ages 0-99. I strongly recommend the tram tour as the facility is large and may be too much walking for some. Plus, you get information about the gardens and it's only 5$ for a 50 minute tour. The indoor facilities are clean and beautiful. Plenty of restrooms along the way. There is a super fun outdoor area for the children with a giant net, play houses and a water area. If you go during the winter, the lighted nights are beautiful. The entire indoor area is beautifully decorated with holiday activities for the entire family including letters to write to Santa and fire pits with an option to buy smore kits. You can easily spend the day there during the warmer months and a few hours during the lighted nights. Overall, a great experience and lasting memories.
Sara R — Google review
For those who love being one with nature, this is the place for you! I wish I could have seen more flowers in bloom, but the scenery is worth its weight in silver alone. Most gardens I’ve seen are confined by the layout of the city surrounding it; that’s not the case here. Lauritzen Gardens sits on 100 acres! It’s a wonderful location for a romantic stroll, for children to release energy during a nature scavenger hunt, or for finding peace and solitude. I appreciate what this place offers and visit more cities that use this model when building their gardens.
Alexander V — Google review
This garden has lots to see. I was put off by the high entrance fee, but after the tour, it's justified. If you have limited time, take the ~50-min tram for a small fee. The tram also offers an overview/preview of the garden if you plan to walk the grounds. A visually appealing and hands-on children's garden. Exterior ticket purchasing kiosk at the entrance.
MTT C — Google review
When I travel to a new state I tend to google fun places to visit. Lauritzen gardens popped up several times so I said why not😊My first impression was little children would really enjoy this place! It’s very child friendly. I asked a volunteer as an adult could I get on the rope trampoline. He said of course! He told me some history about the garden and talked about the different flowers. I traveled alone and I felt so comfortable being there. I thought the fun stopped at the tiny homes but there was so much to explore! They are still building on to the back so it’s a lot less gardens. When it’s complete I’m sure it will be beautiful.
T D — Google review
It was wonderful. Lots of walking, but worth it. Few areas under construction, but opening next year. Not crowded & got right in. Took lots of photos. My favorite places were the kids play area & the miniature railway. And just loved all the butterflie.
C. K — Google review
First time to visit in 15 years as a resident and I will say I'm kicking myself I waited this long. Gorgeous grounds that rival and botanical garden I've been to. Tour guides that led our school class on October 13th were phenomenally knowledgeable not just on the grounds but on the plants...
Ryan L — Google review
Really nice indoor and outdoor garden experience. There are numerous trails and so many flowers, plants, trees, insects to experience. There is a nice Japanese garden area and a day of the dead Mexican exhibit. Lots of benches and serene spaces
Mike M — Google review
Today was free admission day, so I went with my family to check out some of the new things. They built a new outdoor area called Sofia’s Playground. So many fun and interactive plants, structures, and activities. Great for younger kids, and my 14 year old daughter loved it as well. So excited for the new renovations coming soon! Hoping to have so much more in the near future. Great place for families. Make sure to bring fans, hats walking shoes, and sunglasses. You will need them! Mostly shaded trails depending on the time of day but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared!

The Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, also known as "Bob the Bridge," is a modern 3,000-foot cable-stayed footbridge that spans the Missouri River, connecting Omaha and Council Bluffs. This popular bridge is open to pedestrians and cyclists and offers stunning views of the river and the Omaha skyline. It is part of a 150-mile trail network in the area, making it an ideal starting point for exploring on foot or by bike.
This was a must-see part of Omaha, truly making my visit to the city a unique experience. The combination of the rich Lewis and Clark history with the majestic nature of the bridge, my hour-long trip here to the other side and back was relaxing and gave me great perspective of the city (and the Iowa side too!). My favorite parts were the troll at the bottom of the bridge and the amazing views of the skyline of Omaha, great picture point!
Evan C — Google review
This is one of the most amazing pedestrian bridges I've visited. The view was breath taking and it was so peaceful. It wasn't overly crowded today (Saturday) so that was a plus. The best part was the signage showing being in 2 states at once. 😁 Definitely recommend to visit at least one time if you are in the area!
Es P — Google review
In August 2025, we visited the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge in Omaha, Nebraska. This bridge spans the Missouri River between Iowa and Nebraska, and it offers stunning views of Downtown Omaha. There was abundant free parking on the Nebraska side. The bridge is about 20 feet wide, and we did not feel afraid or uncomfortable walking across the bridge. There is no cost to walk across the bridge, either. This was a super fun and memorable experience to walk across this bridge and back and enjoy the scenery.
John C — Google review
A gorgeous area accompanying the RiverFront. There is chalk graffiti on the ground, the bridge is breath taking from every angle, and the mighty Missouri River is fun to be looked down upon. Plus, one can stand in two states at once!
Salem K — Google review
Crossed early afternoon without a crowd. The entire bridge is 3,000 feet (slightly over a half mile). There are two ramps entrances with the NPS parking lot offering more parking. Nice views on the N/I divide. If you plan to hang there, expect temperature change and wind to increase. Easy cross for walkers, bikers, and wheelchairs. The Iowa side has a relaxing vibe with a--we are not alone--piece of art you will find irresistible to photograph. Relax once you reach the Iowa side with benches, additional walking paths, and a great view of Omaha.
MTT C — Google review
In October 2019, I was training for a new skill at Offutt AFB. On my time off, I decided to go on a nice stroll to the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian bridge. I got to see where Nebraska and Iowa meet. So essentially, I walked from Nebraska on this bridge to Iowa. I actually hung out in Iowa for a little bit. I went for a walk in Iowa and spent some time at a recreational park and community center. I explored the park and just walked around. It was a pretty interesting adventure. I was able to capture some things that stood out to me. I was able to get in a good, relaxing and soothing walk while engaging in mindfulness. It felt good to be aware, in the moment, and observant of my surroundings. Love, Light, Peace, Blessings, Community
Truth U — Google review
Very nice pedestrian bridge. The sign says it's 3000 ft. Good views to look out over the river and downtown Omaha. There are trails you can get to on both sides of the river.

A great place to visit with friends and family. Especially for a nice walk and enjoying the aerial view of the Missouri River and the neighborhood, like the luminarium. Kids enjoy it a lot.

So much fun! We spent 6 hours and my little had the best time. Everything was very clean and there were so many fun things to do. The princesses were a hit as well! Highly recommend and new must visit each summer!

Amazing place for children. Lots of activities and things they can learn from. There are fun things for adults that can awaken the child in you. A must visit for children when in Omaha.
Cleto C — Google review
It has certainly changed since the last time I visited 36 years ago. My 5 year old loved it! We spent 3 hours there and could have spent the entire day if I had planned appropriately. It has a lot of history, science, and art activities for the kids as well as a ton of different play areas such as hyvee grocery, a Dr's office, mechanic, apartment building, agricultural, etc. Will definitely go back!
Joy C — Google review
The 5 year old and 1.5 year old both had a blast. The attractions easily entertain for half a day. A snack stand upstairs keeps the adults moving. The air/ball attraction was definitely the highlife. Highly recommended!

It's a great place for kids to go and learn but I'd like to see some different activities on the first floor. The kids love going and there is a lot to do, it's been the same on the bottom floor for years.

It's an amazing place for little children. My grandkids love being there. They have so many options for an educational playing tools. Children are learning by playing. I'd recommend all parents to bring their children. Even parents, grandparents are having fun. It's really lovely to see children happy, excited and running one area to other and not wanting to apart from fun.

It was back to school weekend. They have activities set out to do but did not have all the supplies needed. Workers were sitting on their phone instead of interacting with the kids and explaining how to do the different projects. The Lego people were the only ones willing to stop and talk and explain what they were doing.

Heartland of America Park at The RiverFront is a serene urban escape featuring a man-made lake offering boat rides and captivating evening light shows. With stunning views of the Missouri River and vast green lawns, it's the largest component of The RiverFront. Visitors can enjoy walking trails, piers, and new additions like the Skate Ribbon for ice skating in winter and roller skating in summer.
Absolutely stunning! Had a great time. Great place to relax, talk with friends, and enjoy the outdoors. The place has adult size swings, teeter totters, slides, and a roller skating area. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and came back on Saturday night. There were loads of people, but it did not seem crowded. There are plenty of walking paths next to water features and also plenty of places to sit. There are even oversized hammocks to enjoy. We also enjoyed the area early Sunday morning it was very peaceful. Whenever we stay in Omaha, we will book a room close to this fantastic getaway. It is very clean, and there is a security presence that is noticeable but not intrusive. Always felt very safe and that we were in a secure environment. The place also has a great dog park.

This park is one of the greatest ideas I have seen in any downtown area I've visited in my life. It's free, open to all and very spacious. You can bring your pets and even see wildlife. You can jog or run. You can sit down and enjoy the environment. You can picnic. You basically can do everything.

I visited most recently when Taste of Omaha was going on. There were so many food vendors and love the ride options. Beautiful spot to have this set up with the water fountain, swings and everything available nearby.

Very nice park. There is an outdoor roller skating park, swings, and a walking path. The fountains are beautiful, and there are really nice areas where you can sit or have a picnic. Very well maintained. Also, the overlook bridge is very cool.

What an awesome park! Loved being able to walk the paved path around and enjoy the fountain and many seating areas to relax. Playground for the kids and 2 areas that look over the river.

We were visiting Omaha and decided to try this park out. It was BEAUTIFUL! There was plenty of street parking for $1 per hour. It's a great place for a photoshoot, skating (you can rent skates), bike riding , a boat ride after 5 pm, or just relaxing.

This is the best park in Omaha. I come here often to unwind and walk around with the dogs. It has such a cool vibe with hammocks and firepits, plenty of seating, and it's clean. I love this park.

Joslyn Castle & Gardens, located in Omaha, Nebraska, is a Scottish-inspired castle and garden dating back to 1903. The estate was built by George and Sarah Joslyn, who were prominent figures in the city's history. George's successful career as the president of a large newspaper service organization made him the richest man in Nebraska at the time.
Was a great tour $17? Is all it cost me? And I'll tell you, it's worth it. The tour took two hours. This is just a very small fraction of all the photos I took most of the light fixtures senses on the first floor are all originals.
Robin C — Google review
Peg was a superlative tour guide with an exuberance of knowledge of the family and the castle's historical and cultural ramifications. The foundation has taken capacious and copious amounts of fervor to revitalize this epochal icon of the Midwest. Rare and extinct woods, Victorian and Scottish milieu throughout this home, make it a haven for those interested in the arts, architecture, and red-lettered artifacts of the early 20th century. Will come again, especially once the “man-cave” is restored.

In August 2025, we visited the Joslyn Castle & Gardens in Omaha, Nebraska. This home is on the National Historic Register and it offers some inside tours. We walked around the exterior and in the gardens, and we enjoyed our self-directed tour. The castle architecture is amazing, and they have nearby buildings, gates, and fences that maintain the castle theme. The Joslyn Castle was a great place to visit, and it was a fun and memorable experience.

My wife and I came down from Sioux City, IA, to Omaha to celebrate her birthday weekend back in late August. This castle looked like an interesting place to visit, so we decided to give it a try. Molly was a fantastic tour guide, and the Scottish style of architecture was beautiful. I found the chandeliers to be really cool, which explains why I took so many pictures of them! 😁 If you are a history lover like me and are looking for a great tour at a reasonable price, do yourself a favor and tour this lovely place!
Grant P — Google review
The woodwork and detail that went into the building of this once private home are absolutely stunning. It is a long tour of a little over 2 hours but very interesting and well worth it. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the castle's history including its former residents.

Fontenelle Forest, located just 15 minutes south of downtown Bellevue, is a natural haven offering a variety of activities for families and nature enthusiasts. The area features hiking trails, picnic facilities, and a mile-long ADA accessible boardwalk with scenic views of the Missouri River and downtown skyline. Visitors can explore wildlife in the raptor woodland refuge or participate in high ropes course activities at Tree Rush Adventures.
LOVED this place!! Added so many birds to my life list here (I’m new to bird watching, so this was very exciting!) Plan on making a trip back up to the area specifically to come back and hike the longer trails. Trails are very clearly marked and very easy to navigate. Nature center offers great history and ecology education and has some incredibly friendly staff!

I haven’t visited in years and we decided to stop by for some exploring in nature time with our cousins. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Fontenelle Forest is part of the Blue Star Museum program. Up to 6 people with active duty military identification can get free admission. The gift shop is well organized and has some cute items. The bathrooms were clean. It had rained the night before, so some trails were muddy and the slides were wet. The staff were so helpful in giving us ideas for what hikes to do. The boardwalk is so nice!! The kids had a great time! We loved seeing the birds and a lady came and spoke to the kids all about them and was so patient with their questions. We did not do the ropes course. It looked like it was well made and large, but couldn’t justify the really expensive price per person.

Plenty to do inside and out, stroller friendly, boardwalk or trails for walking. Beautiful forest experience in the city! There is a calendar for activities available for those whom are wanting to attend birdwatching events, there are classes for kids and families as well.

Lewis & Clark Landing at The RiverFront is a large plaza featuring exhibits about the famous expedition, located right off the Missouri River. It's known as the first landing spot of Lewis and Clarke Expedition in 1804. The 23-acre park offers walking and biking trails that connect to other parks and bridges, along with statues, monuments, fountains, and plenty of resting spots for families.
Good area to take your kids, the playground is really nice and maintained. The statues are very detailed. Good place to spend the day.

Really amazing spot down town . Big open area and it’s not all the same things to look at . Lots to look at and lots of open space . It’s a really great spot to take your kids as they do have a playground too! It’s kept very clean and there is a rink that you can also rent roller skates or in winter ice skates from what I was told. They have lots of flowers around and trees and they do have shaded spots as well it’s not all straight in the sunlight. It’s an easy walk and fairly handicap accessible. We have kids under 7 and they walked fine with us on the paths. They do have restrooms near the park for kids not sure on other spots .
Kay T — Google review
I’ve always loved taking my kids here — it’s so peaceful and full of open space and nature. We love walking along the river and going back and forth between Iowa and Nebraska. The new expansion and growth are incredible! The updates have made it even more beautiful and welcoming. I absolutely love it here now.

This area is clean, safe and an excellent place to take long walks. There are also many places for kids, a dog park, roller skating rink, hammocks, fire pits with chairs, other sitting areas. Just a great place to walk around and / or relax!
Holly S — Google review
Very mixed feelings on this. It’s a great playground and *finally* playgrounds in the US are taking note of the seemingly everywhere else standards of fenced in and one entrance. I’m sure this is all nice when you know this place. But wow visiting and trying to find your way around? Good. Luck. Signage is extremely lacking, and they made no effort to update Google maps with this area. I have no idea how new this area is, but it’s wildly inaccurate. Lakes in places they clearly don’t exist anymore. Pathways that aren’t shown. In park maps that only cover a small area and no idea what’s beyond that. So is this a great area once you’ve dragged you whining kids around far too much just trying to find how to get into the playground that you can see? Yeah. But good luck getting there.
Tim T — Google review
This park & monuments were much cooler than I ever could have imagined. So many near features to appeal to kids as well as adults that you can't just find at any old basic park. We easily spent an hour here but could definitely have spent more time if it was a warmer season and the water play features were running. Great view of the river and awesomely educational monuments. Tons of free parking right next to the park and bathrooms were immaculately clean for public bathrooms. You have no good reason not to make this a stop amongst your Omaha plans!
Chris M — Google review
Absolutely beautiful. There are tons of spots to get great photos. It's a great place for the family to just get out. If you have family or friends visiting, it's a nice walk with restaurants and activities nearby. There are multiple playgrounds great for the little ones, and open space to toss the football for the older ones.

The center's rotating collections feature diverse artworks such as paintings, drawings, sculptures, and room-sized installations. As a hub for budding artists from around the world, it provides scholarships and on-site housing to foster creativity.
It was cool to come in through the non chalant entrance and descend down the brutalist staircase to check in and then seamlessly to the service bar. There's a perfect wind around to the stage area or on to the very clean bathrooms. Very pleasurable encounter at the merch table. Low key sales are refreshing and intelligent these days. The only suggestion of improvement I would make is to possibly adjust the AC output as the compressors are really loud towards stage rear. Pretty sure that's a non negotiable and the center is already aware, but just know that it was disruptive.

Wonderful place for art lovers, offering a vibrant and inspiring atmosphere. The gallery showcases a diverse collection of contemporary and traditional artworks, making it a must-visit for enthusiasts. They regularly conduct engaging events, workshops, and exhibitions, providing a platform for artists and art lovers to connect. However, parking can be challenging during peak hours, so it's advisable to arrive early or use public transport. The art classes for kids are fantastic—my children thoroughly enjoyed the interactive sessions and creative activities. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. A great cultural hub, though better parking facilities would make it even more convenient. Highly recommended for families and art admirers!"

My wife and I came down from Sioux City, IA, to Omaha to celebrate her birthday weekend back in late August. We were looking for something a bit different to do, so I reserved two spots at the free event called "Experimental Music Performance: Nadia Botello’s Other Channels with Omaha Symphony." We got to the Bemis Center about 40 minutes before the performance so we could have a little time to look at the displays. The displays were very thought-provoking and captured the human experience well. (See my photos and captions) It was also really nice that they served complimentary drinks with the option to donate. I happily gave a small cash donation. My wife and I each had a LaCroix, and both the flavors were delcious and refreshing on a warm Saturday afternoon. The string quartet's performance was beautiful and relaxing. Thank you to the Bemis Center staff and the talented musicians for helping me to give my amazing wife a relaxing birthday. We hope to come back to the Bemis Center soon!

What a lovely place to spend your time at. Whether you are checking out the cool rotating exhibits at the art gallery, or visit in the evening to see an interesting music show at their low-end stage, I'm sure you'll find an experience you weren't expecting! What an amazing place, so much history here. It was nice to listen to the volunteers talk about the ship or the submarine. It's free as well. You can leave donations as well. I spent around 2 hrs here. Most of it was on the ship you can tour and the submarine. It's is well worth the trip here.

Jeff W — Google review
Very cool place. It is down a minimum maintenance road that looks like you are going the wrong way... you are not. The road is closed to the public when Freedom Park is not open. You drive on this road for about 1 mile. Alot of cool stuff, and the volunteers were very knowledgeable and kind. Unfortunately, due to some bad flooding, the submarine is not open for tours which is pretty obvious it is surrounded by piles of dirt, but you can see it from the ship. The ship was absolutely amazing and had a ton of neat things to see. We brought 2 small children and they were fascinated by it all. We spent about 1 hr looking at all the things.

Lots to see here! The volunteers have done an incredible job making history come to life. I was so impressed by all the details (particularly aboard Hazard) I kept forgetting to take pics, so these really don't do any justice. You'll just have to check it out for yourself!

Kenefick Park, located along Interstate 80 in Omaha, is home to the world's largest diesel-powered train and the biggest steam train called Big Boy. The park offers free admission and parking, making it an easy and fascinating stop for visitors. Accessible through Lauritzen Gardens, the pavilion provides a wheelchair-friendly ramp for easy access to the hill where the trains are located.
Something I always look forward to when traveling west on I-80, these two behemoths of the rails overlook a great view of the river. One of 8 remaining Big Boys are here. It’s a decent amount of steps up from the parking lot.
Daniel S — Google review
Great view, and two locomotives to view up close! No cost. There are >60 stairs to walk up to get to the trains. There is a handicap ramp available. They do close the gates at 5pm and you’ll be able to drive out, but not back in.
Jess — Google review
This is a great place to learn a bit about American history, specifically the railroad and Union Pacific. The place is in the heart of Omaha and has a fantastic view. The only downside is how loud this park is since its closed proximity to the highway, but a great place to visit nonetheless. Just a good heads up: the locomotives are massive.
Karel M — Google review
What a cool hidden find. You’ll have to travel a stair way up that overlooks the highway to enjoy the majestic trains. This IS American history as these trains served our nation for many years in our heyday. Kids will love this area. Be sure to read the educational station signs to learn more about how these trains shaped our nation. The overlook view of the highway is worth the stair climb.

Really cool place to see a well mantaind Big Boy up close and personal. The Centinial was also super cool to see. The park is also very nice and the view is terrific! I love seeing companies like this take pride in there history and make it accesible to the public for free. I would totally make the 3.5 hr trip from where I live just to see this.

What an awesome FREE stop to make when you’re visiting the area. We just had the only working Big Boy Engine drive by our city a few weeks ago so our kids thought it was super cool to see it up close! If you or your kids love train stop and see it! The wheel sculpture they have is very hard to see since it’s covered in grasses…. I wish we could have seen it.

Great for any railroad enthusiast and for some open air. Free to see and get up close with. If you are visiting Omaha I highly recommend a visit, simply to see the huge piece of engineering history. The walk up provides some good views and plenty of history to look at. You can walk round the entire Big Boy steam locomotive to get a real view of the size. Although you can not climb on, there is a raised walkway which allows you to look into the footplate cabin.

The venue has also been a popular choice for music concerts featuring renowned artists from around the world. Recognized as College Baseball Field of the Year in 2012, it offers an exciting atmosphere for sports enthusiasts and hosts various events throughout the year.
Such an amazing baseball field! While many may say it’s not the greatest, it’s definitely still an amazing field. We visited this past summer to watch the College World Series, and we definitely had an amazing time. The atmosphere was amazing, those LSU fans are LOUD! It’s so conveniently located in downtown Omaha next to some amazing restaurants and bars. My recommendations are to get there early for parking, take a clear bag to reduce your security time, and get your food early so you don’t have to wait in long lines when the innings are over!

It would be five stars if Park Omaha would get their act together. Traffic flow for the CWS was nice, Standing room only option was nice. But parking was a nightmare! Also, we were told multiple times there was cold water provided for free because of the heat which was not true. Which is fine but don’t tell people you’re providing something you’re not. Overall, I’ll be back for the CWS.

What an amazing ballpark for the College World Series! Plenty of vendors for food, drinks, treats, shirts, or gear. The first aid staff are right there if you need them and are genuinely caring.

We attended the CWS. Entrance was without issue. Our seats were located under an overhang which proved to our advantage with the rain. Restrooms were clean and well stocked. Enough food and drink options available so wait times were short. There were two food items that got a lot of hype that we tried. Both were unfortunately a disappointment. The Heat Streak Brat was cold, overly mushy and had one jalapeño on it. The Cubano Cutter was minus the shredded pork.

The place is real good, you can walk around, enjoy skating, river view, boating (Costs-$4/person +$1(if using card)), enjoy the fountain. The best time is to visit during evening hours to avoid sun.

Event venue
Located in the north downtown neighborhood of Omaha, CHI Health Center is a prominent convention center and arena that hosts a wide range of events including music concerts, comedy shows, theater performances, and sporting events. With state-of-the-art facilities and a seating capacity of up to 17,500 patrons, it is the city's largest arena and a popular venue for major music tours as well as Creighton basketball games.
We always love going to CHI! The atmosphere is ecstatic and it’s such a great arena size! Super easy to navigate to your section and be able to use the restrooms, get food and drinks, and purchase merchandise. Going through security is usually a breeze. Food and drinks are always on the higher side, but it’s an arena so it’s pretty much like that anywhere. It is a cashless arena, so make sure to take your debit/credit card. (Warning, strong use of flashing/strobing lights in my videos, so those with epilepsy may want to avoid).

Relatively clean. Paid parking was easy. Seeing a show in the round was an experience, however I don't think it was listed that way when we got tickets. The seats in section 200 seemed narrower than average seats. When you go to pay for something at vendors the 'tip first' option isn't very efficient, slows down places like "fast break."

This is one of the best college sports venues I’ve been to in a long time. The stadium appears to be on the newer side. Easy, cheap parking and short walk from the parking lot. There are a lot of good concession stands, and the place is spotless
Dan R — Google review
Went to the Linkin Park concert here on 8/29. It was an incredible show and the venue was great for it. They played in the middle of the pit and we had a ferocious mosh pit going, it was a lot of fun. What was less fun was an interaction I had with a member of the staff at the event. All were very helpful and courteous. However, when in line for merchandise to support the show, me and my friends waited about 25 minutes in line and got to the front kiosk same as everyone else, when all of a sudden the barriers are moved over a few feet and a line is made for a fast-pass type of entry to the merch stand. A family then barges in front of us when we were standing in front of the register about to ask for merchandise. When they finish and bump us on the way out of the merch line with no clear exit route, I then step up to order, but am met with a rejection of service by an older cashier named Sandy. She very rudely turned me away and stated that “they have bar codes” and did not show any sympathy or offer a solution when I told her I and everyone behind me have been waiting in line to get merch. I then think to ask the line next to me on the left if I could possibly cut in behind someone at the line, and I am very kindly allowed in to purchase with the register adjacent. This would have been the end of a generally unpleasant incident, had I then not picked out my merchandise and got ready to pay to overhear Sandy complaining to the patrons in the priority line how “she was yelled at”. I did not raise my voice to Sandy, I simply asked if we could not just go every other person until our line was cleared, to which I was simply turned away and subsequently ignored with no recourse or alternative that I then had to figure out myself. If you’re going to turn away a customer who waited in line like everyone else, at least have the courtesy not to lie about their behavior, which was witnessed by others, right in front of their face. This was very unprofessional and quite frankly felt deliberately cruel for Sandy to fluster me by leaving me on my own in a crowded merch line when I had waited and watched as a priority line got spontaneously created next to me. If the line had been there from the start then it would have been different. To turn me away and then claim to be yelled at when I tried very hard not to overly escalate the situation, was disingenuous at best and outright mean at worst. I did not appreciate the way Sandy handled that situation, and the interaction made an otherwise amazing concert have a stain on it. I reiterate, everyone else, but Sandy, was delightful.

Saw Linkin Park here with my daughter on 8/29. Facility was nice although entry was a bit strange compared to what we are use to. We got pretty far in to the building before hitting a metal detector. Which is strange, considering this world we live in and people bringing backpacks and other things in. Concert was great and staff was on point. Exiting the parking lots was a bit of a nightmare but to be expected with crowd of that size.

Nature & Parks
Gene Leahy Mall at The RiverFront is a 10-acre urban park located in downtown Omaha. It has undergone a major renovation and now features lush gardens, walking paths, a playground, lagoon, waterfall, and an amphitheater. The park spans from 13th to 8th streets between Douglas and Farnam streets and is surrounded by towering buildings. Formerly known as Central Park Mall, it was renamed after former Omaha Mayor Eugene A.
Such a cool place! Outdoor Skating rink, hammocks allover the place to rest, fire pits, pond with area to walk around it, cool lit up bridge where you can see the city, slides, water area and plenty of places to sit. There were food trucks and a 4th of July symphony and fireworks, it was a great experience. There is a really neat kids play area, a dog park and public bathrooms (until like 10pm). They close the park like at 10 and everyone has to leave, they have lots of security and law enforcement down there.

Gene Leahy Mall is a beautiful spot in the heart of Omaha! The park is modern, clean, and perfect for families, friends, or just relaxing outdoors. The walking paths, green spaces, playground, and water features make it a refreshing escape in the city. Events and activities often take place here, adding great energy to the area. It’s also very safe and well maintained, with plenty of seating and open space for gatherings. Whether you're in the mood for a picnic, want to play ball, try out some roller skating, or just spend quality time with family, you’ll find it all here. I really appreciate the friendly security personnel and police officers who make it feel so safe. The food trucks parked along the street look delicious, Plus, they host music and movie nights now and then/ events, so be sure to check out the schedule for all the fun events coming up! Hope you guys find this helpful. Have a great day👋!

The outdoor experience is amazing. It gives a sense of community, is practical, and has clean and maintained. The park is well maintained and not only is it great for walks, but they also have many children areas, statues, concert hall, clean restrooms, a roller skating rink, a dog park, a fountain view, and many other communal areas. The park is also monitored with security and is checked every hour to ensure that it is a safe space for the public.

We absolutely LOVE Gene Lehey!! We have been coming here since they first opened before the river front was even finished! It's open till 10 and the climbing things are so fun and a great workout! The light show on the building is a fun attraction.. When the music starts playing everybody starts running towards the same spot to watch the light show! My favorite is the Cascades where the kids can play in the water and get cooled off!! And it's all free!

Growing up visiting Omaha several times a year we always made a trip to the metal slides. I was bummed when they took them out but found out they revamped the whole area into an amazing, fun, magical playground area! The metal slides are back along with super cool climbing things, huge porch swings, , grassy areas, sculptures, a water feature and all kind nds of other stuff! Well worth the trip and could easily spend a day there!

The General Crook House Museum is an interesting attraction located in Fort Omaha. It features period decor and is home to Douglas County Historical Society. This museum is a great place to learn about the history of 19th century life in Nebraska.
It’s very beautiful museum, very well maintained with lots of cool unique historical details. I had my wedding there recently, and it was so beautiful. The people who maintain the museum were there to help out and they were so kind and absolutely lovely, the whole day was just really wonderful. This is a great little museum if you want to learn more about the era or see some beautiful period architecture AND it’s also a lovely venue for small weddings.

The General Crook House Museum is a hidden gem! This Italianate style home is on the campus of the Omaha Metropolitan Community College. There is street parking and a parking lot available. If the door is locked during opening hours, ring the door as instructed by a sign on the door. We were greeted by Robin, a wonderful woman who wealth of knowledge about the house is unparalleled! She shared stories about residents of the military post and events of its time. We spent more time than we expected walking the rooms that have been restored with Victorian decor and furnishings. Ceilings, wallpapers, carpets, furniture, and items of the time period all combine for an incredibly rich experience. Be sure to look for the rare Treasury seal on the door knobs and antique butt hinges which allow the door to open 180 degrees. The outdoor gardens are worth the time too.

This is a lovely, well- maintained historical home, always beautifully decorated for the Christmas season. Staff and volunteers are so welcoming, polite, and helpful. The reception room is one of our favorites; it includes a small Steinway piano and a Regina music box that plays songs using large metal disks. The sound is extraordinary! My 85 year old mother got an unplanned workout going up the many steps to the front door, because I hadn't even thought to ask if there was a handicapped entrance - which there is around back, thank goodness! (We'll be sure to go that way on our next visit.) There is also a small elevator inside if you are unable to walk up or down the impressive staircase. The Crook House is very much worth a few hours of your time, and you can see something new on each visit.

Awesome historical venue. Perfect for a wedding/party/event for less than 50. The garden was stunning. All of the guests could not believe how beautiful it was. Inside is a large well kept historic house that held just enough people for our wedding. Has a kitchen and bathrooms both upstairs and downstairs. Even has an elevator! Both of the museum volunteer workers were awesome to work with and both very helpful. I recommend visiting, not only for a awesome place to have your event, but just to learn about Omaha's past as well. Please leave a donation if you do!

Additionally, visitors can explore an exhibit kiosk dedicated to Gerald Ford's life and presidency.
Such a beautiful monument! The flower garden dedicated to Fords wife is so peaceful. A great place to visit! I was present when they put the time capsule in the ground in 1976.

Very educational. Learned a lot about President Ford. Turns out, he was never elected for vice president, nor for president. Very well maintained gardens. It is also in a beautiful older neighborhood. The education center is open Monday-Friday by appointment only.

As someone who loves history and politics, I was really excited to visit the birthplace of President Gerald Ford! Unfortunately it's underwhelming. I was disappointed that the display cases were covered in large amounts of spider webs and don't appear to be maintained. I am glad I stopped and would like to go back when the rose gardens are in full bloom.

Winter Quarters Historical Marker is a free attraction that offers insights into one of the 90 winter settlements used by the Latter Day Saints during their westward journey to the Salt Lake Valley. The visitors center houses maps, historical artifacts, and abundant information about this historic odyssey. Adjacent to the center are the Mormon Pioneer Cemetery and Winter Quarters Nebraska Temple. The site holds immense historical significance in LDS pioneer history, showcasing their unwavering faith and resilience amidst immense sacrifices and challenges.
The historical significance of Winter Quarters can not be underestimated in the story of the LDS pioneers. Their sacrifices and tribulations were immense and they, unwavering , put their faith in God and pressed on. What amazing positive attitudes they had under all circumstances. The senior missionaries at Winter Quarters brought the pioneers stories alive to us and the other visitors. Pretty amazing. Many visitors that day when we visited, are relatives to those pioneees resting in the cemetery behind the Winter Quarters Temple, across the street. It brought the whole experience into a personal light of families across the generations.
Linda M — Google review
Here in 1846 an oppressed people fleeing from a vengeful mob found a haven in the wilderness. Winter Quarters, established under the direction of the Mormon leader Brigham Young, sheltered more than 3,000 people during the winter of 1846-1847. Housed in log cabins, sod houses and dugouts, they lacked adequate provisions. When spring arrived more than six hundred of the faithful lay buried in the cemetery on the hill. Winter Quarters became the administration center of a great religious movement.

I'm giving a rate of two stars. Reason being is that the Florence community is where I grew up and currently still reside. This park is so out of date compared to the rest of the parks around Omaha. Like come on Omaha... We are not a small town and as time as gone from my childhood up until now the population of children has risen. I firmly think this park needs a revamp and to be updated entirely.

Nestled in the historic Old Market district, Upstream Brewing Company is a must-visit for beer enthusiasts and food lovers alike. Established in 1996, this pioneering brewery occupies a charming turn-of-the-century firehouse and boasts an inviting atmosphere with both indoor seating and a unique rooftop patio that offers stunning views of downtown Omaha. Guests can savor handcrafted beers brewed on-site, including their classic pale ale and innovative options like the Eternity IPA.
Cool environment, good beer selection and drinks. Old firehouse definitely worth stopping in. Standard pub style food with vegan options. They make their own bread, which is unique.

Very cute place downtown. Beer was good. Love being able to get a flight to sample multiple brews. Our party was disappointed that there wasn’t a “sour” beer. I was happy with the beers I sampled. Food was just okay. Tomato basil soup was 5 stars, but the spinach artichoke dip was only two stars due to being mostly melted butter. The adult grilled cheese was okay - the inclusion of apple butter onto the sandwich is great in theory, but I feel there was too much on the sandwich overpowering the cheese and bread.
Heidi F — Google review
When they’re on a date recently and was pleasantly impressed. We have been at this place before we sat inside. Their selection of regular food was nothing special to me. However, this time around when we went, we had an outside patio seating, which was very pleasant and very nice. It allowed us to observe Omaha. It allowed us to enjoy that outside perspective. The food was good this time around we ordered appetizers chicken wings were absolutely great. The sauce was not just splattered on the wings, and they seem like they were actually marinated in the buffalo sauce which added to the flavor tremendously. We also ordered fish and chips and after having Gordon Ramsay‘s fish and chips, I was not expecting a whole lot from that. not because it’s not a name brand food or so but mainly because a lot of places in the United States are a hit or miss more miss with the fish and chips than hit. Well, I can say that upstream brewing company knows how to do their fish and chips and they were hands-down absolutely delicious. We would come back here for specifically that meal again.. There are seasonal brews and beers were great. We enjoyed every ounce that. I highly recommend this place.
Alexander K — Google review
A good selection of some very good beers--I especially liked the Dundee Scottish Ale. The brewery is in an old 2 story brick building with tons of character and comfortable seating. The second floor has pool and game tables in a large open bar area. There is a large selection of food options from appetizers to sandwiches to entrees. The burgers and fries were very good, The Rueben, although tasty, was served on some very thick, hard bread. I ended up eating the meat and sauerkraut, but left most of the bread on the plate. Service was good and the food came out very quickly. After we settled the bill, we felt rushed by the waitstaff although a few of us were still talking as we finished our drinks. There were plenty of empty tables and no line of people waiting to be seated. Sometimes it nice to sit and finish your drinks without pressure to leave.
Michael L — Google review
I visited Upstream Brewing on the last night of a business trip and chose to sit at the bar. I ordered a Saison Botanique, which had a delightful saison bite with strong floral notes—I was thoroughly impressed. After sampling a few of their other beers, I returned to the Saison Botanique to pair with my dinner. For my meal, I chose the salmon burger with fries. The salmon burger was good but not exceptional, as it felt somewhat dry, though I still enjoyed it. The fries, however, were outstanding, with a perfect crunch and excellent preparation. The service during the meal was adequate but not remarkable, much like the salmon burger. Overall, the Saison Botanique and fries were the highlights of the experience, while everything else met my expectations. I would gladly return on my next trip to Omaha. Rounding up from a 4.5 to a 5 since it’s a brewery and the beer was delicious.
Javi C — Google review
The burgers are nothing great. We sat outside, where there are plenty of bugs smaller than the black specks in the ranch, which was quite excellent actually. The bugs bite. This grew especially tiresome while we waited 10 minutes in the wind after paying to get our cards back. This was my first time in the Omaha Old Market, but I’m sure there’s better food around.

Following a fire in 2016, the restaurant was meticulously restored to its former glory by the original designers. The menu features a delightful blend of original dishes and inventive twists on classic favorites such as crabcakes, flatbreads, and warm duck salad.

What can I say but that I love M’s Pub. When I get off the plane in Omaha it’s my first stop! It’s a nostalgic, Old Market-chic place that has been around since the 70’s and has never gone out of style. To know the original M’s was burned to a shell then rebuilt exactly as you see it today is beyond amazing and a miracle!!! Great food, great atmosphere, classic cocktails and drinks-the place is just magical. Service can sometimes be a little slow but always nice and welcoming. My favorite hang out, never rushed.

M's Pub is a staple of American Cuisine in the Old Market. Even after a fire gutted it, it was completely replaced to its exact original. The food is, as it always has been, full of flavor and originality. Our service was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is both airy and cozy. I enjoyed my drinks (one tequila with prickly pear, the other mezcal based) which were original and played nicely with my dinner. The Duck Poutine has incredible flavor and could easily be a meal in itself. The Shepard's Pie on special was rich and hearty with perfectly tender beef, a rich mushroom gravy, and complimentary light pastry top. Overall, I don't think you can go wrong here - excellent restaurant!

We each made a blown glass ornament and then for the larger second pieces a wall plate and swung vase! Sam was incredible, explaining everything to us and prepping and coaching us throughout! He made us feel like we could do it ourselves (which we can't.) I could not recommend this class or Sam Logeman more highly!

We really enjoyed ourselves. Would not really recommend for kids. Maybe older or those really into art. Loved talking to some of the artists and seeing them at work. Glad I read the reviewed about the stairs 🤣 but honestly they were not too much. Would recommend. Plan about an hour even 2 there is so much to see I don’t feel like we saw it all.

Went in and so many friendly people. One man wanted to show me how to work with glass because I told him I was interested in it. I bought one of his glass frogs. This is an awesome place to visit in Omaha. Definitely a place to go just for fun and watch people create masterpieces. I can’t wait to go back. Definitely a gem.

We took a glass blowing class with Vickie this morning and had a great time. Her guidance helped me create a beautiful ornament. I'd highly recommend taking classes with her and I probably will again at some point. Thank you again Vickie.

My wife and I did the Glassblowing Workshop for Two and were blown away (pun intended)! Samuel was our instructor and he was absolutely great. He was easy to talk to, you could ask him questions, and most importantly he let us actually do a lot. He allowed us, within reason of course, to do as much of the work as we were comfortable with which was amazing. We each made a paperweight, and my wife made a vase while I made a bowl. I would definitely recommend going to Hot Shops (Crystal Forge, to be precise) to have some fun and come away with something really cool and unique. I'll definitely be scheduling something with Samuel in the future.

Beautiful glass art and great people. Very interesting way of making decorative pieces with a torch as well. My wife got me a class with Vickie and it was very interesting, i had a blast learning how it all came together. Thank you for the opportunity, highly recommend if ever in Omaha

Great spot to see some unique items and talk to artists as they create. We stopped in here as part of the Nebraska Passport program and I'm so glad we went in. They were blowing glass when we walked in which was pretty cool. We wandered through the building seeing the various types of art work and we spoke to several of the artists as they were working. Not all of the shops were open which was kind of a drag but overall this is a really cool place to stop if you're in the area.

Very neat display of multimedia arts and different forms. Fun to meander through though we only made the 1st floor. The glass shop was phenomenal and Vicki was super helpful and fun to talk to.

The Surfside Club is a delightful spot for families looking to enjoy a fun-filled evening by the Missouri River. With live music setting the scene, you can indulge in mouthwatering fried favorites like chicken dinners, pork tenderloin, and their famous fried catfish, all accompanied by delicious corn fritters and homemade coleslaw. After savoring your meal, let loose on the dance floor with your kids or watch them bounce around in the nearby inflatable play area.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome riverfront spot! Overlooking the river with plenty of tables and seating, but pack a few lawn chairs for overflow. When you first arrive, you’ll see a long line—that’s for their famous fried chicken and catfish dinners. If you’re not eating, you can skip the line and go right through the gate (they’ll check your ID and bag). We arrived around 7:30 PM (band started at 6 PM), and it was very crowded with limited seating, so bring a few lawn chairs just in case (can always grab them). The space is huge, with palm trees, live bands, beverages, and plenty of room to dance. The weather was perfect by the river! 🌅 Prepare for sun, outdoors, and maybe some bugs 😎🦟 The band playing that night was Hotel Desperado – an Eagles tribute band, and I’m sure they brought the crowd (that’s why we went!). They were fantastic! This is a family-friendly spot, and kids are welcome. There’s even a bounce house, but I did notice some children climbing on top and along the sides over concrete—not safe. Someone did step in, but it happened again, so parents—please keep an eye out. We grabbed food indoors after the band ended at 9 PM, and it was amazing! They offer bar seating and plenty of tables indoor or picnic tables outside. We were served indoors and the staff was very friendly and didn’t rush us out at closing time. Thank you for letting us finish our yummy late nite dinner! 🍽😋 Overall: A fun outdoor venue with great music, a lively crowd, and a laid-back riverfront vibe. Feels like a quick vacation!

This place was such a gem! We had some really fresh catfish that wasn’t fishy at all—just perfectly cooked. The fried chicken was well-seasoned and crispy, and everything tasted fresh. I do wish the fries had a little more seasoning, but they were still good. The fried fritters with honey took me straight back to the carnival—so good! The prices were very reasonable, with large portions and affordable alcoholic drinks. The atmosphere was colorful and welcoming—honestly, it felt like being on a resort without actually being at one. It’s definitely a whole vibe! Plus, they even had a bounce house for the kids, which was a fun touch.

Neat casual place along the river. Has a lot of seating outside and a small area inside to eat if needed. Live music when we were there.

Our son's friends treated us to an opportunity to go "diapering" on the Missouri river, followed by a visit to the Surfside Club. We docked our boat and found comfortable, shaded seating on their outdoor patio. The guys order "watermelon" drinks ... and then some more! I was skeptical that The Surfside Club could really have the best fried chicken ever, but I can safely say that they do! The breading was perfect, and the chicken was moist and piping hot. They guys enjoyed the catfish, leaving nothing behind. Sides were nicely cook fries and cups of coleslaw. We also got the corn fritters which were served with a cup of honey. They guys wanted more corn kernels in their fritters, but I am used to fritters without kernels, so I was more than happy with them. It was definitely a treat to eat at the Surfside Club!

Went on a Sunday for my lil cousins bday. Food was good as always. It was pretty hot that day so for a Sunday late lunch it wasn't too busy. Just a nice crowd. I had burger and fries. It was cooked perfectly.
John J — Google review
Delicious chicken, wonderful corn fritters, just regular fries, cold slaw ok. Have to order drinks separately. Sodas little pricey for the small servings you get. Great to sit by the river and eat and listen to the band.

This place is a blast. We are here on a beautiful night with live music. My little daughter tried to throw a french fry into the river for the fish to eat and her bracelet flew off. She was heart broken. The bartender brought her a homemade replacement. Its off the beaten path but the drive is beautiful and Im glad Im only visiting the area because Id be here far too often…
Mitch S — Google review
Food is over priced in every way and not the greatest for the price. Music is hit and miss and the place closes up about the time the party is getting started. Atmosphere is under utilized and should stay open until at least midnight to take advantage of a waterfront experience. Watermelons are good!

Step into a world of sweetness at the Old Market Candy Shop, Omaha's original candy haven that has delighted visitors since 1977. Nestled in the charming cobblestone streets of the Old Market District, this vintage-inspired shop is a treasure trove for candy lovers. With an impressive selection ranging from Vermont truffles and international licorice to salt water taffy and Jelly Belly flavors, there's something to satisfy every sweet tooth.
Talk about amazing customer service! They were super nice to have a good chat. I told you all about that's town's history. Yes, and their candies were pretty Dang amazing, too.

If we could give more than five stars, we would! This little candy shop tucked into the Old Market is hands down one of the most magical places we've ever visited—and it has everything to do with the incredible owner, Mike. From the moment we stepped inside, Mike greeted us with the kind of warmth you don’t expect from a stranger. He made us feel like family—truly. He didn’t just sell us candy, he shared stories, offered us local treats, and made us laugh like old friends. It felt like we were being welcomed home. The store is absolutely packed with a phenomenal selection—nostalgic candies, local favorites, and unique Nebraska-specific snacks you won’t find anywhere else. The popcorn was out of this world, and Mike made sure we tried some of his favorites. You can feel the love and care that went into curating everything in that shop. Every staff member we interacted with was just as kind and welcoming. And right next door, the ice cream store Doleci (which we also HIGHLY recommend!) continued that same vibe—friendly, sweet, and so delicious we’re still dreaming about it. Mike, you are a treasure. Thank you for treating us like more than customers. You reminded us of how good people can be, and we’ll carry that feeling with us for a long, long time. With love, Your girls from New Jersey 💛 We will never forget you!

If i could give Mike 1,000 Stars I would. I called in a last second request with 3 hours until I needed our sweet treat for a Harry Potter Party.. Chocolate Frogs, IFKYK. He was so kind and friendly. He didn't have them on hand but without skipping a beat he said "I HAVE THE MOLDS!" and he poured us a tray. Mike made it possible for my kids to have a core memory made this weekend, and I owe it all to Old Market Candy Shop!

My husband and I visited this little candy store for the first time last week looking for some items to include in a Saran Wrap ball I am making for a work holiday party. The outside of this store is just beautiful and it makes you want to go inside. The shop itself small but still has quite of bit of items to choose from. There is pre-packaged candy and also some homemade candy.
Debra W — Google review
This is the best candy store in Omaha. Being an “elder millennial” raised in the Old Market by my cool older sister, this place is very dear to my nostalgic heart. Recently my husband and I had the privilege of meeting the owners, and much like the staff they employ, they were truly lovely people. OM Candy’s forefront is spotless, well organized, and places a big emphasis on hand crafted confectionary delights. While you will find a nicely diversified selection of items not made in house to appease sour candy folks, the real star of the show is the enormous display case filled with beautiful chocolates. Frequently upon visiting, you are able to see staff hard at work making chocolates through their kitchen area window—and I feel like this just isn’t something one gets to see very often. It’s a very refreshing experience. Bury me with the mudballs, though I will accept the caramel cashew clusters in their stead. If you’re local, or a visitor with a sweet tooth, this is the place. And be sure to pop by Tennenbaum’s Christmas Shop next door—same owners, wildly different theme, and extremely cool!

Candy shops that make their own items is something I can barely resist. Old Market Candy Shop will leave you wishing you had bought more. Their truffles keep me coming back, but the chocolate dipped orange peels may be my new favorite. The fudge is creamy and comes in so many fun flavors. The staff is absolutely wonderful and will help you with recommendations and samples. If you're more into traditional candy like taffy, jelly beans, etc., they've still got you covered. Fellow GenXers, they even have candy cigarettes.
Sally G — Google review
The place is great! They have a lot of handmade chocolate options to choose from! They let you sample some of their items. In addition they have "mainstream" candy for the younger kids and lots of unique items for the more adventurous eaters.

I originally stopped by just to browse—I was looking for a small edible gift for someone special ahead of an upcoming dinner. Honestly, they had so many options that I started to feel a little overwhelmed. That’s when Zane stepped in, and I’m really glad he did. He had a calm, confident way of helping without making anything feel salesy or pressured. I explained that I didn’t need a ton of snacks, just something small and meaningful—something I could share that would make a lasting impression. He totally understood the vibe and gave a perfect suggestion that respected my limited budget but still felt thoughtful and personal. He even wrapped it up in a way that made it clear this was a gift, not just something picked up last minute. He told me to keep it refrigerated until the day of, which I appreciated, and I walked out of there feeling more confident about the moment I was creating. Huge thanks to Zane—and to everyone working there that day. You could tell they genuinely enjoyed being there. Their energy was contagious in the best way. It’s rare to walk into a place where everyone’s smiling like that. It made me a little jealous, in a good way. Definitely a team that’s proud of what they do.

Restaurant
The Drover is a renowned chophouse that has made a remarkable comeback after facing challenges such as a destructive fire and the impact of the pandemic. It is celebrated for its signature whiskey-marinated steaks, particularly the bone-in ribeye, which diners can enjoy with the restaurant's secret sauce. The establishment boasts a retro salad bar, one of Omaha's first, offering classic favorites like Iceberg lettuce and Thousand Island dressing.
This is a quintessential Omaha steak house. The lighting is dim, the atmosphere is cozy, the staff is fast, friendly and knowledgeable, and the steaks are cooked to perfection. The drink service was right on top of us which was great. The onion rings appetizer had a unique and delicious peppery taste. The salad bar is just fine and the Whiskey Steaks are superb. This place has been in business for a long time for a reason!

If you’re looking for a delicious steak, “The Drover” is the place to be. It is a quaint and cozy restaurant. Eric is a great bartender and had wonderful customer service, looking forward to going back. Seating can be limited at times so it is preferred to make reservations or you can sit at the bar. Highly recommended!

I love how simple the menu is. I feel like that’s when you know it’s going to be good. I had the Whiskey Ribeye with a loaded baked potato and salad. Steak was delicious and cooked a perfect medium rare. The baked potato was wonderful and had just the right amount of toppings. You got to go to the salad bar to make your own and everything was fresh. Our waitress was nice but I wouldn’t have minded her making it over to the table a bit more. I like to drink a lot of waters/Diet Coke and found myself waiting a bit to get refills. Other than that she did well. The atmosphere is very relaxing. Dimmed warm yellow lights and a cozy bar. Highly recommend trying but make a reservation if you can, especially on the weekends.

August 2025: Came here for a team dinner and had a very enjoyable meal. The place reminds me of a traditional old school steak 🥩 house with dark wood and a rustic feel. Ordered the rib eye whiskey 🥩. It was a boneless cut and had a nice whiskey finish on the pallet. I had a baked potato 🥔 as my side with butter and chives. I was very happy with the potato. My meal came with a choice of soup or salad. I chose the salad bar and got a nice salad. Drink options were pretty good. I had a zip line IPA from a local brewery. Would definitely come back again for more delicious steak 🥩!

Drover’s feels like a true local gem with classic Midwestern steakhouse charm. I sat at the bar and enjoyed a perfectly cooked medium-rare ribeye, paired with a great glass of Cabernet. The salad bar was a solid choice—the blue cheese dressing tasted homemade and was a highlight. The bartender was friendly and attentive, rounding out an excellent meal.
Michael F — Google review
Solid steak, perhaps the best in Omaha, but definitely has room for improvement. It is a good value - the steak, baked potato, and soup for one price (along with bread at the beginning of the meal) is a good amount of food. The ribeye was cooked medium rare, the filet was cooked more on the rare side. It was difficult to taste the whiskey marinade but maybe there was a small hint of sweetness. The salad is a better value than the soup because it’s unlimited but I liked the red pepper soup too. The baked potato seemed very rich with the sour cream, get it on the side. The side of asparagus was plain and underwhelming.
Sameet S — Google review
Dined at The Drover last night as a guest of a large party. I ordered the Whiskey Rib-Eye with asparagus as the side. The salad bar is fine, but nothing special; certainly not worth paying the asking price by itself. The rib-eye was excellent both in quality and preparation. They didn't trim off the woody ends of the asparagus, which is a rookie mistake in my opinion, hence my knocking off a star.

Had a friend recommend The Drover after he found out we were in Omaha for the CWS. We wasn’t able to get a reservation due to the high volume of people visiting at the time, so we opted to try and walk in. Surprised that we were seated by the great staff in about 15min. The atmosphere and staff were amazing! We had a party of four and two of us ordered the whiskey ribeye, cooked medium, and two ordered the filets. Loaded baked potatoes for sides. The potatoes were good even though mine was slightly undercooked. The filets were tender and had an ok flavor. Unfortunately, the whiskey ribeyes we ordered were not so tender. They seemed to be a cheap, lean cut of beef, with very little flavor. Very tough to eat. As a matter of fact both mine and my father-n-laws jaws were sore after eating the steak. Very little fat. We very disappointed to say the least as this place came with great recommendations. Maybe it was because they were overwhelmed and not prepared for so many people traveling to Omaha, but it would be hard for me to recommend this place to anyone. Price was to be expected, for a good steak. Not a good price for what we got.

Block 16 is a sandwich shop in Omaha that embraces a garden-to-table philosophy, offering casual lunches featuring gyros, burgers, and sides. The restaurant prides itself on serving farm-to-table street food using locally sourced ingredients and avoiding preservatives whenever possible. They also provide vegan-friendly options. Menu highlights include the Croque Garcon Burger, Duck Duck Goose Fries, and the Dragon Wrap. Additionally, Block 16 features a new daily special.
The food here is BOMB. I could tell I was in for a treat, when the line was out the door on a Thursday for lunch. The line moved pretty quickly and even though there were a lot of people, seats became available pretty quickly. The Duck Duck Goose Fries were out of this world and blew me away. This is hands down my favorite memory from Omaha and I tell all my friends to check this place out when they are in town. I loved it so much, I came back again to make sure it was the last thing I ate before heading home.

Hard to find seating. Food is fresh. Sometimes takes a while, but my kids can sit through the wait. Parking is sometimes hard to find, depending on the day. Service could be a little friendlier. We have found they are when it’s less busy. We visit when we come to Omaha every other year or so. We usually try something different each time we go. And enjoy it.

Absolutely delectable 10/10 for my meal it was the best roast beef type (oxtail) sandwich and that cheese pull was killer! (My whole reach!) My wife had the Sailor burger and she said it was a 6/10 it tasted good but was advertised to have beef tallow so it should have been a moist burger but she said it was a dry burger. Water was available to drink while waiting and the service was about as good as a burger joint can get. The poutine also had a very few cheese curds and so much gravy that the fries were swimming in it which is why I overall gave the meal between us two four stars.

This was a unique find for my wife and I as we traveled through Omaha. We didn't want to eat at your everyday restaurant. So very glad we stopped in. The food is amazing. I had Omaha fries and the wife had duck duck fries. Her fries did indeed have duck. My fries had ground wagyu beef. They were both full of fantastic flavor. The service was great and so was the price. I can only imagine what the rest of their food might taste like. I highly recommend stopping in. You will not be disappointed!

Nestled in the heart of Council Bluffs, the Union Pacific Railroad Museum is a treasure trove for history enthusiasts and curious travelers alike. This captivating museum invites visitors to journey through more than 150 years of railroad heritage, showcasing interactive exhibits that bring to life the story of America's railroads. From the inception of the first transcontinental railroad in 1862 to significant figures like Abraham Lincoln, each display offers a glimpse into how railroading has evolved over time.
A ton of railroad history in a super cool building. I'm by no means a railroad buff, but this was a really neat place. If you're looking for actual railcars/engines, this isn't the place for you. If you want to see various other items that have to do with railroad history and enjoy reading about railroad history, then this IS the place for you. If you're in the area, it's definitely worth a visit. Street parking with meters. The museum is free, with a donation box at the entrance.

The Museum is both entertaining and educational, and can nearly transport you to the year 1869. I watched the TV show, Hell on Wheels, about the transcontinental railroad. Then found myself in Omaha, NE on a work trip and make the short drive across the boarder to Iowa to visit the museum. You can spend hours in here.

Nestled in Omaha's Old Market Passageway, V. Mertz is an iconic and elegant restaurant with a rich history dating back over 100 years. Originally a fruit and vegetable cellar, it has evolved into a cultural and historical local gem. The Mercer family played a significant role in restoring the Old Market district, with V. Mertz being one of the original businesses to open there as a French-style cafe and wine shop. Today, V.
The kitchen of V. Mertz celebrates life through creative exploration of food. Each dish we had was simultaneously unique and a variation on a theme. The tasting menu offered incredibly complex flavor destinations on an expertly booked journey. The savory bread roll, risotto, and lamb were especially delicious and the sous chef's experimental sweet potato pie foie gras paired with a bold Sauternes wine was like walking through a portal into fall nostalgia. Every member of the staff contributed to a perfect evening but Drew happened to be our guide through the dinner of the year.

Little late on the review but better late than never! I came in for a birthday dinner. I absolutely loved that the menus said Happy Birthday! Overall I felt the food was good but not wow. The appetizer and the dessert left a little to be desired, but the main course was fantastic! I will say that all the dishes were visually stunning.

There truly aren’t enough words to capture the phenomenal dining experience my team and I — a group of more than 20 professionals — had at this remarkable establishment! From start to finish, every detail reflected an extraordinary level of care, passion, and hospitality. The food was nothing short of exquisite — each dish thoughtfully crafted, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Every plate told a story of culinary expertise and dedication. The wine and cocktail pairings were spot-on, perfectly complementing the flavors and enhancing the overall dining experience. The service was equally impressive. Despite the size of our group, the staff never missed a beat. They were attentive without being intrusive, warm without being overbearing, and professional while still creating an atmosphere that felt comfortable and personal. The ambiance completed the experience — elegant yet inviting, refined yet relaxed. It’s clear that the team here takes pride not only in what they serve but also in how they make guests feel. A special thank-you to the bartenders, wait staff, and sommelier, whose expertise elevated the evening, and to the kitchen team, whose creativity and skill made the magic happen behind the scenes. Simply put: you haven’t truly experienced Omaha until you’ve dined here. I’m already looking forward to returning later this week during my conference — and this restaurant is now officially marked as a Favorite on my Google Maps. Without a doubt, this will be a regular stop every time I’m in town!

Celebrated my wife's birthday and it did not disappoint! Service was excellent. We did the tasting menu and everything was well prepared, very tasty, and filling. The wine pairing with the tasting menu was fantastic as well. After asking about the foie gras dish on the a la carte menu (preparation etc.), we were very grateful to have it offered to us as a gift for no charge! Fantastic venue that has won us food connoisseurs over as future regulars. For those looking for a fine dining tasting menu esque experience in Omaha, this is a home-run. The only down side I would say, is that it was a little noisy in there; not necessarily a negative mark on the restaurant or staff or anything like that, but just something to potentially keep in mind. But overall, was a great date and we will look forward to next time!

We absolutely LOVE this place. Never a bad experience dining here and we eat here at least twice a year. The tartare and duck are my personal favorites. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. We appreciate the wine recommendations as well as we prefer southern hemispheres wines. This is one of the best, if not the best, fine dining restaurants in Omaha.

Very good food in a cozy setting. My wife had the boneless quail and it was great. The bread service was also outstanding. Service could have been better - it took over an hour for our entrees with no communication from the staff. The two tables next to us appeared to be regulars and they were served several courses while we sat there starving. They also got lots of attention from the sommelier, who did not stop by our table at all, even after I inquired about the wine. Hopefully an off night but it was a bummer.

Saint Cecilia Cathedral, located in a serene Omaha neighborhood, is a stunning masterpiece that took over 50 years to complete. This iconic cathedral, consecrated in 1959, boasts Spanish Renaissance Revival style architecture and is among the ten largest Catholic cathedrals in the United States. Designed by local architect Thomas Rogers Kimball, its exterior features soaring twin towers with volutes and domes made of Indiana limestone.
We came here the other day and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had our infant with us, so we didn't join the tour, but we did explore and get to see the cathedral. The place is amazing. It's so beautiful, and the craftsmanship put into it is breathtaking. It's definitely a great spot to come for a tour, and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who hadn't been or is passing through.

Visiting from out of town and went to the 8:30 service. It was very nice and not super busy. I wish they had a choir with the 8:30 service though. It sounds like they save the choir for the 10:30 service.

The flower festival was great! I was not prepared to sit in the pews and wait for my turn to go but it wasn't bad. The flower displays were gorgeous and the church is quite pretty as well.

Five star hangout! Beautiful cathedral with outstanding acoustics for choral music. Parking is close. Lovely setting for Christmas particularly. Sit closer to front to see the pageantry of the mass. God bless you all!

Can't say enough about the beauty of the place, inside out.. The carvings and paintings are amazing. I visited here outside the church hours. It was mystical, the silence and the dim lights. The high ceiling and candle lights. Totally mesmerizing and peaceful. I would love to visit the place again.

Bar & grill
Crescent Moon is a popular tavern in Omaha, known for its wide selection of top beers from around the world and pub fare. The tavern is famous for serving one of the best versions of the Reuben sandwich in the city, which is said to have been invented right across the street at the Cottonwood Hotel.
Love this spot! Crescent Moon has such a great vibe—laid-back, welcoming, and full of character. The food is always solid (highly recommend the Reuben), and they’ve got a great selection of local brews on tap that makes it easy to try something new each time. Whether you’re hanging with friends or just want a chill place to grab a bite and a beer, this place hits the mark. Definitely one of my go-to favorites in Omaha. This post was made in connection with a toast promotion.
Selena C — Google review
Decided to try this place for the history aspect. Seems like a chill sports bar with a wide tap selection. The Reuben: very saucy, loaded with meat and kraut. Overall it was good, but I had some textural issues with the way the beef was cut. I guess I've never had cubed beef on a sandwich, and now I know why. Certainly takes away from the experience. Chips and salsa as a side were as good as chips and salsa from a sports bar can be. Fries were crispy, well seasoned, and plentiful. This place was exactly what I needed it to be, and it was worth the try for the history-adjacent aspect.
Dylan — Google review
One of the best Reuben sandwiches my wife and I have had in the last few years. As legend has it, the Reuben was created at a poker game in Omaha’s Blackstone Hotel. Reuben Kulakofsky was one of the group of poker players and came up with it and Crescent Moon follows the original recipe. Crescent Moon has a friendly staff and great dine-in atmosphere. Pay for parking is available a block behind the restaurant as well as limited free street parking.

Visited on a work trip. Recommended by the bartender at our hotel for their wings. They are supposedly the originator of the a Reuben Sandwich sonI had to try it. The sandwich was good. I got the wings as well but they didn't taste great. They were definitely the wrong flavor but I didn't feel like switching them in addition to being charged extra ranch when I didn't ask for extra ranch or was even given extra. I received on small container of it.

A friend and I stayed at the hotel across the street and wanted some late night apps and drinks. We loved the drinks, the bartender put his own spin on drinks based on our tastes. The food came out quickly and was delicious, portions were great to share. My dad ended up meeting up and also helped us eat the apps. My only complaint or even observation was the bartender was great but the doorman just seemed to “bark” orders at the bartender. It was weird. Other than that our experience was 10/10.
Monica — Google review
At first, you’re going to think this is just some little dive bar, but that is not the vibe that hit you when you walk in. There were a lot of families in there, as well as locals who are just grabbing a beer after work. However, like us, there were many people there to try the Reuben sandwich. I don’t even like Reuben sandwiches, and this one was off-the-charts delicious. I will definitely eat here again when I return to Omaha. Our server was one of the nicest gals I’ve ever encountered. She told me all about the history of the place end of the sandwich. The bathrooms need some work as far as cleanliness, but that’s the only imperfection about the place.

Great place! Delicious food! It wasn’t very busy I believe due to the construction so be sure to show this business some love!
Shannon W — Google review
Great Reuben - reportedly the original recipe. Delicious sliced and cubed corned beef, spiced sauerkraut, rich marble rye, not too much dressing, etc. The Reuben egg rolls were of course silly, but not too bad. as far as the crescent moon goes, a divey affair. Great experience for an Omaha first timer like myself. I don’t drink but they had a ton of craft and imported beer options. Not to mention a selection of 3 beers and 2 mocktails

Ice cream shop
Coneflower Creamery, situated in the heart of Omaha's Blackstone District, is a modern parlor that serves up delicious handmade ice cream using locally sourced ingredients. The shop offers a variety of classic and unique flavors, with everything from Butter Brickle to sweet corn being seasonally driven. Visitors can expect generous portions and friendly staff at this 'farm-to-cone' ice cream shop where even the sprinkles are homemade.
It’s my first time trying coneflower ice cream. I absolutely loved it. The ice cream was sooo rich in flavor unlike others. They definitely have better flavors. I got the coconut flavor ice cream and it was sooo creamy and so rich. The server was kind and she gave me samples of few ice cream I was interested in.
ASH — Google review
I recently visited Coneflower Creamery and tried their roasted pistachio and hazelnut ice cream flavors. Unfortunately, both tasted pretty basic and didn’t stand out in any special way. Given the high Google Maps rating, I was expecting something more memorable—maybe the other flavors are better, but I’m not sure. The shop itself is quite small with no real space for sitting, so it’s more of a grab-and-go spot. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and welcoming, which I appreciated. Overall, I’d give the experience around 2.5 to 3 out of 5.
Saeed V — Google review
Coneflower has been on my list to try for months and I finally decided to go. Watch out for lots of construction on Farnam and all around this location. It is a chore just to get there due to lane closures, etc. That said, the ice cream is delicious -- albeit somewhat overpriced, especially if you don't really care about gluten-free and vegan options. When eating ice cream, why do we need to worry about semi-healthy options? I ordered the Scarecrow Sundae and shared it with my wife. Great combination of flavors. But I've had better sundaes elsewhere...

Greetings from Indiana! We were in Omaha for a robotics competition and had the pleasure of visiting Coneflower Creamery—thanks to a local artist at Hot Shops who highly recommended it. Having traveled far and wide—from Asia to California to New York and many places in between—I can confidently say Coneflower serves the best ice cream we’ve ever had. Their meticulous attention to flavor and quality truly sets them apart. During our visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Brian, who I later found out is the owner. With his signature handlebar mustache, he was humble, welcoming, and made our experience all the more memorable. He even graciously posed for a photo when I asked! The next day, we stopped by their Millwork location, where all the ice cream magic happens. The team went above and beyond to accommodate my son’s food allergies, even preparing fresh batches just for him. Their thoughtful care meant the world to us. We also loved the decor and the unique viewing area where you can see the “ice cream lab” in action. Everything about the experience was so delightful, we couldn’t leave without picking up a T-shirt (the yellow one with the cone and flowers—of course!). We’ll definitely be back!
Andy H — Google review
Coneflower Creamery did not disappoint! The ice cream is delicious and there are lot of unique flavors. The hardest part is deciding which ones to get! We loved the sweet corn, tart cherry crumble and butter brickle!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars – Deservedly #1 It’s no surprise Coneflower is ranked #1 by Yelp and highly praised by just about everyone else—it never disappoints. Today’s lineup was pure ice cream bliss: cinnamon-something deliciousness (still dreaming about it), banana Nutella something, birthday cake, and cherry crumble tart. One flavor was better than the next. Rich, creative, and always on point. Hats off to the team—thank you for consistently delivering scoop after scoop of joy.
Gabriel R — Google review
Highest quality ice cream in a great variety of both classic and unique flavors. We had an ice cream sandwich and the chocolate chip cookie made in-house was also fantastic. I love ice cream and seek it out whenever we're in a new city and Coneflower is absolutely worth going out of your way for.
Josh B — Google review
They had a good variety of ice cream and cone choices. The wife and I both had different selections, and they were very flavorful. The staff was friendly and helpful. If I had anything negative to say, it would be the local root beer portion was very small compared to the price, but even that was even more delicious than I had imagined. It is one of the best local creamery options around, in my opinion. Keep up the good work!

It was a nice day with hardly any wind. It was 36 degrees out. I did 3.70 mi 1h 6m it took me. I parked over by Hawk field. There is a dirt trail over to the concrete trail that goes around the lake. It's a very nice trail, well kept. There is a boat dock here, and you can fish. Nice views from the dam looking at the lake. On the other end of the lake their is a floating walk bridge across the lake. There were a lot of people here with dogs. I bet it is very nice here in the summer.

It’s a beautiful place for a short trekking and birds watch. There are plenty of different kinds of place where kids can explore like how the seeds of the plants spread across different places and what are the different mechanisms of that. The photoshoot points for ducks are amazing and you can even see many turtles among there. There is a single cabinet rest room available and it is moderately clean. The crowd is very less and if you are a bird watcher or just to enjoy with the kids this is one of the best place to come and it is free for everyone.

Urban wildlife sanctuary! My birding group was very lucky to be there on a volunteer day (they had the interpretive office open without appointment), and were able to see many bio-facts and purchase the most adorable matching tshirts. Even when the office isn't open, there is a clean portapotty in the free parking area. The butterfly garden plants were not blooming yet, and new spring foliage was just coming in, and we saw 21 species of birds, 2 species of mammals, 1 (maybe 2) species of amphibians, and 1 turtle species! Oh, and it's free to visit 😀 I absolutely recommend Heron Haven, and if you have a few dollars to donate, do what you can!

The Orpheum Theater, a historic venue dating back to 1927, is an ornate building that hosts a variety of events in Omaha. It collaborates with the Holland Performing Arts Center to bring traveling Broadway productions, music, dance, and outdoor programming to the city. The theater also supports local theaters that produce excellent shows based on scripts created by local writers. Additionally, it is home to the country's largest community playhouse.
The Orpheum theater is beautiful. Its interior is gorgeous and the sound is perfect. Each chair is comfortable and it is designed so that everyone is able to see the stage. I am handicapped and was treated with such kindness and care down to the individual help to my seat and help with my coat. It was easy to attend and my experience was wonderful. The show was incredible and my husband and I will definitely be returning to the Orpheum again. The staff made my experience extraordinary thank you so very much.

Nice venue, had great seats. Only upside is the rows are very "thin" per say and if you are what they consider a bigger individual. The seats are very narrow and not much leg room except if you're on the end and can stretch out your legs! Pics are from "Hadestown" and Spring Bling 402

Review of Penn & Teller – Omaha, August 14th I attended the Penn & Teller show at the Orpheum Theater in Omaha on August 14th, and I left feeling extremely disappointed—not just for myself, but for the five friends I brought along. The show was underwhelming from the start. Rather than presenting the world-class magic they are known for in Las Vegas, most of the material consisted of tricks you could purchase in a magic shop. The same mentalism effect was repeated four different times with only slight variations, giving the impression of filler rather than creativity. Teller, once known for his sharp presence and artistry, now seemed tired and out of shape. Penn, on the other hand, spent much of the 90-minute show talking his way through weak routines, offering more chatter than magic. His constant use of the phrase “Jesus Christ,” along with several pointed, mocking biblical references, felt mean-spirited and disrespectful toward Christians in the audience. Instead of clever satire, it came across as vindictive. Even the so-called “grand finale” was a letdown—a video replay of the very show we had just watched, only run in reverse, while Penn played the drums. For performers with a combined net worth of over $400 million, this level of production felt cheap, uninspired, and insulting. At best, the show looked like it cost a few thousand dollars to throw together, and at worst, it came off as nothing more than a blatant money grab. Doing simple card tricks in front of a sold-out theater audience was another clear signal that Penn & Teller were not bringing their A-game to Omaha. None of the material was from their Las Vegas repertoire, making it obvious they weren’t “practicing in their own backyard” but instead testing weak filler content on Midwestern audiences, as though we wouldn’t notice or care. To be fair, I do respect Teller’s generosity in donating the Abbott House to the Omaha Magic Society, which shows his love for magic and the community. Unfortunately, that goodwill doesn’t carry over into the current stage act with Penn Jillette. In short, the performance was a slap in the face to long-time fans and new audiences alike. Penn & Teller appear to be coasting on past fame rather than delivering the quality that once made them leaders in magic and entertainment. I regret spending the money on tickets—not just for myself, but for the friends I invited. This show was nothing more than a bad joke on the public. Rating: ★☆☆☆☆

If you're on the lookout for a family-friendly adventure, The Amazing Pizza Machine is an absolute must-visit! Spanning an impressive 60,000 square feet, this all-indoor venue combines dining and entertainment in one exciting package. Kids can enjoy a plethora of attractions like laser tag, go-karts, bumper cars, and even mini-bowling. With over 170 arcade games to choose from, boredom is simply not an option!
We had a little trouble with the cars on the machines at first. We weren't sure of the issue so we asked a floor attendant. Instead of brushing us to the front she checked all the machines we tried, asked if we would like her start one of the toddler rides we had tried and then politely told us where to get a new card. She was so sweet and efficient. The staff up front is so patient. The plate pick up service for the buffet is prompt and there's always something fresh. Our granddaughter is just 2 so the pricing seems very reasonable to us. It's only 2 "tokens" for most of their rides. We went over 2 hours on 60 credits. That's a good time!

This place was what we needed after a day in the zoo! Amazing variety of foods and the kids loved spending time at the arcades. Will definitely come here again!!

This place was EXTREMELY fun for kids! They had Laser Tag, Go Karts, bumper cars, frog drop, and more for rides along with all the arcade machines. Even a play area for kids that are 7 and under which is nicely housed in the back corner with a few age appropriate games too! This way you can corral the troop as there is only one way in and out. Great lunch options even can request a gluten free pizza! Had an AMAZING time with the family!!! Highly recommend you get there when it opens!

Kids had a great time. Road go karts, bumper cars, two other Carnival like rides and more games than I've ever seen. We had a 90-minute pass which included the buffet, so we ate when we arrived and again when leaving. Overall a pretty good deal.
Jeremy D — Google review
2nd year we had a birthday party there. The food was great the staff were nice and polite. We had a huge problems getting our cards to work it was hit or miss with them working on the games it wasn't the funnest when you have a party of 10 kids and can't get their cards to work right.
Crystal F — Google review
The kids always have a blast when we go. The food is better than expected for an arcade buffet. Most of the machines are very well used, and almost every token card reader needs replaced. Absolutely infuriating how many times you need to swipe some of them to get a game to play. Needs fixed ASAP.
Jaime M — Google review
The food is just passable in my opinion, although there are a plethora of selections mostly aimed at children's palates. There are pizzas, pastas, salads and soups with a selection of desserts. It's buffet style so you have a few choices. As expected, it's noisy even in the dining areas with child friendly programming on a big screen. The real appeal is the games and rides for the kids with a good selection for all ages including a toddler area. Be prepared for the cost. For two buffets and two 90 minute game play and buffet packages purchased online it was almost $120 and some games like laser tag are extra.
Patricia C — Google review
We discovered this place by accident while heading somewhere else, so we changed our plans. We had so much fun here! The prices are very reasonable and there's so much to do. The rides are great, the games all seem to be in good working order, and the buffet is unlimited, so you definitely can get your money's worth! There are bumper cars, a go-kart track, laser tag, virtual reality game, Mission Vortex ride (it's a tilt-a-whirl, ya'll! 😉), a frog jump ride, and so much more. We spent hours here playing and had so much fun! We did the go karts several times and the ride is several laps, not just a couple. The attendant instructs you at the beginning and warns you about trying to intentionally wreck other drivers, stating if you crash more than twice, the ride will be stopped and you will be removed. We saw him ban a couple of kids for doing just that (once was on our first ride and the same kids came back on our fourth ride and got removed and banned because they wrecked everyone else on the track, causing the ride to have to be stopped multiple times. I am REALLY glad the attendant did that, because a lot of places don't and people end up getting hurt. Next time we visit Omaha, we will definitely be going here for some great family fun!

Alamo Drafthouse Cinema La Vista is a stylish theater chain that offers a unique movie-going experience. It features comfortable seats with small tables for food and drinks, served by friendly and helpful staff who are mindful of not disturbing the audience during the movie. The theater hosts special events like inviting local farmers to film screenings and offers a diverse selection of new releases and cult classics. Guests can enjoy creative bites, cocktails, bottomless popcorn, fun watch parties, and themed movie nights.
Fantastic exhibit, as far as the Star Wars features when you walk in the building, the fact that they play retro movies throughout the year purposely is fantastic as well as current movies and you will have a fun time with the added feature of them, bringing you your food and drink, and the pre-shows that are themed based that you watch on the screen are very entertaining. I promise you will love it.

Great Topnotch Cinema…Customer service was outstanding. Drinks were good, food was great but the service fee was crazy. My family and I enjoyed the movie and dining experience but wasn’t expecting to pay over $100 w/gratuity don’t get me wrong we always tip $15 or more but to add your own gratuity was a bit much!
Tasha B — Google review
No reclining seats Really solicited tips in addition to 18% fee on top of overpriced food and drinks and soooo many rules and threats to act and be a certain way. Im surprised there was no dress code. I would much rather recline and be in a relaxed atmosphere thank you.
Lynn R — Google review
Such a good time with hubby! I got to watch Superman! I didn’t get a bucket which I was numbed out but I had some amazing wings, and burger with fries. The popcorn is endless which I loved. They also have Apple Pay as well. I didn’t drink this time around because I’m trying to limit my drinking due to my fitness journey but I will try some drinks very soon!

We had an awesome movie date last Friday night and caught A Nightmare on Elm Street. The drinks were fantastic, and the pizza was delicious. The seats were decent, but the movie was a standout. The host who welcomed us at our seats was absolutely wonderful and very polite. Food and drink service was impressively fast. We both felt the price was great, and we're definitely planning to return for another movie night!

Look, I don’t mind a 18% gratuity fee. That makes sense. What I do mind is the threatened 5% additional tip for people who forget to close their tab on the mobile ordering. Uh… what? You’re charging us for what is probably an automated process? Why do I have to close out a tab on an app after you’ve told me to turn off my phone AND you’ve had a server run by with a sign asking me if I have any last requests before ordering closes? This seems sleazy, and it seems like a trap meant to squeeze customers for extra money. I do not appreciate it & I do not respect it on principle. Otherwise, service is largely good. Can be hit-or-miss. Today’s server was great & had no issues. Food’s solid.
Devin W — Google review
A go-to spot for my family. We have the Alamo Pass and see movies 1-2 times a week. Love the environment, picture quality, and staff, but this place is VERY pricey if you are planning a full meal. My fiance and I shared one appetizer, one entree, one side of fries and two diet Pepsis and we spent over $60.
Jim B — Google review
Ran out of the drinks we ordered and didn’t tell us until we asked, server station visible to the public was filthy, and when we said something to a manager he took care of the drinks, but claimed because they just served 150 people that it’s okay that it’s dirty. It was filthy when we walked in 30 minutes before the show when no one had food yet.

Omaha Performing Arts is a collaboration between the historic Orpheum Theater and the new Holland Performing Arts Center, offering a diverse range of events in Omaha. From traveling Broadway productions to music, dance, and outdoor programming in the summer, there's something for everyone. The city also boasts small local theaters that deliver outstanding productions based on scripts by local writers. These theaters showcase passionate directors, actors, and behind-the-scenes talent dedicated to Omaha's local theater scene.
Admittedly, it not the most reverent, beautiful venue. It’s not Carnegie Hall or anything. But the acoustics are outstanding. It’s very easy to find parking and get to your seat (which seems bigger than most with plenty of legroom, and comfortable). Omaha should be proud to have the center in their city.

Everardo O — Google review
The most marvelous place for any musical event. So lovely inside and the nicest staff!
Shelley R — Google review
Once again we found ourselves at an absolutely perfect venue especially for music. The sound quality just cannot be beat and every seat in the whole place seems to be perfectly acceptable to see the stage. Simply wonderful.
Jimm M — Google review
Such a great venue! Seats were comfy, great view and the staff is friendly. I will definitely be coming back for another show.
Kim O — Google review
I've been attending shows at the Holland Center throughout the last decade, and I'm always blown away about every part of the experience. The venue is incredibly nice, especially in terms of acoustics and general style. The staff are always helpful and friendly, which always adds to the experience. The quality of the shows, whether it be the Omaha symphony or a guest, is always top notch. Located right in the middle of downtown Omaha, there is always ample parking. Looking forward to going back in the future!

I stood in line for the Hamilton tickets sale on one of the hottest days of the year. The staff at Omaha Performing Arts figured everything out to make it as easy and pleasant as possible to navigate the huge sea of ticket buyers. They gave me a wristband and a clipboard with a form for the ticket options: dates, times, seat locations, costs, etc so I could pre-plan my purchase. Then I waited in the shade at tables and chairs which were set up for the buyers where they provided cold water to drink. I never actually got in line until my wristband number was called, and then it took about 45 minutes to go through the account verification/creation process and purchase my tickets. I was the 290th box office ticket buyer while there were 20,000 buyers waiting online, and it took me about an hour and a half to get Hamilton tickets. Good seats at that.

KANEKO is a vibrant cultural hub in Omaha dedicated to fostering creativity and artistic expression. This nonprofit organization, founded by renowned artist Jun Kaneko, features an array of galleries showcasing diverse exhibits that delve into storytelling, painting, design, and more. Visitors can enjoy free workshops on art and poetry while exploring thought-provoking pieces often infused with social messages. KANEKO also hosts performances in its LOW END gallery on Thursday nights and offers extended hours during special events.
This place was pretty interesting and neat! If you're an art lover this is a place to check out for sure. It has art from local artists which makes it interesting to me and even things from the workers are posted up for all to look at. They were under construction when we went but our guide still showed us around and even let us go in and check out the up-and-coming exhibit. That was awesome. Even took us to another building with even more art and a lot of art books available to check out with a student ID.

Contemporary exhibition when I was there. In one of the exhibits, Kaneko collaborated with a child and seeks to decide how one knows when artwork is " finished". Free admission. Handicapped accessible.

I love this place! I've gone to Kaneko quite a few times over the years. This is one of my favorite spaces to visit in Omaha, and by far my favorite art space in Omaha! Enjoy some photos c. 2017 or c. 2018.

Only one exhibit currently, disappointed they've started charging $10 a person. Used to go all the time when it was free.
Brenda M — Google review
I LOVE the Kaneko! Their exhibitions are fantastic and free for visitors-such a great asset to Omaha’s downtown. The “Light” exhibition just opened and runs through the end of March, I believe, but it is so worth everyone’s time to go check it out! The entire exhibition is beautiful and the interactive portions make it a lot of fun! Definitely make time to get into the infinity room on the first floor, which the workers explained draws quite a crowd during peak hours (mainly weekends), so you might try to go during the week for best results. It was neat to see their expansion plans as well and to learn about the next phases in developing something of a campus downtown! Bring some cash to donate to their building fund!!

This significant site is part of the larger Malcolm X Memorial Foundation, which spans 17 acres and is currently being developed to enhance visitor experiences. Recognized for its historical importance, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
Very nice memorial to an important historical figure. Worth noting that the marker itself is a few steps down from the parking lot and in a field area.

Inspirational. Inspiring. I am aware of the history . It brought tears to my eyes and I'm happy to have been here. I'm Caucasian and I see what my culture did and am ashamed of my cohorts for being so heartless. I support BLM and understand thir concepts. All lives matter when Black Lives Matter.

I love this place because it’s Malcolm X however, this place needs a ton of work. I wish POC would take better care of this sacred land.

What an unexpected find! It was a bit of a challenge finding the marker as it sits behind the Malcolm X visitor center in a huge open grassy field. There was a small shelter and some benches to overlook the area. The visitor center was closed at the time we were there but next trip would love to see the memorabilia.

A piece of Omaha history here. Well maintained grounds and buildings. I first went to Fort Omaha 64 years ago. Oops, telling my age here. Back then there were military personnel at the main gate. We used to stand outside on the sidewalk and watch them practice their marching, their drills, or doing their exercises. Today Metropolitan Community College has a campus there. It is a very good community college. The fort now also holds many other activities that welcome the public, like Pow Wows.

This is my favorite gas station, the staff are always VERY friendly and helpful, the bathrooms are actually clean every time I go in, I always find the snacks and drinks I'm looking for. As a delivery driver it's really important to have a reliable gas station to fill up at and this location is for sure my go to.

I stop here regularly in the morning and the people working are always so nice. It's a small thing, but it's a bright spot in my day. I also appreciate their selection of drinks and rewards program.

This gas station is open 24 hours, the lady that works here over night is here, I see her car but the building is locked. Stay away from this station after 11:30 pm. Really addresses me that I came here instead of going to Casey's far better station l.

I always love a gas station moment. Just running in a grabbing a treat real quick. But this gas station is just always…not it. The workers are always disinterested in anyone who walks in, the cashiers seem to never actually know how the POS system works. One of the cashiers just kept hitting “Lg Ftn” then sat there dumbfounded for 2 mins then without saying a word just hands me $1.75 in cash…after I didn’t pay in cash???? It’s especially worse when there is a top notch QT just down the street. I will say, it’s always clean but this Kum and Go is just

They are always good to me. I will always go back to the store for my water and I like the fact I know I can always go to a clean bathroom and there is toilet paper in the stalls. I don't make any food purchases because everything is too expenses for me. I'm homeless and I don't have enough money for the food there. But I have never had a bad experience there
