Atmosphere and service fantastic to start. Unfortunately this doesn’t make up to the very underwhelming food. Lack of flavour, & garlic bread quality was really poor for an Italian. When we politely shared this view with the staff at the end, they ended up leaving us waiting for our bill for 30 minutes - the service was excellent up to that point. No reductions on the bill or offers of remediation either despite a poor experience. Overall a lovely venue with good people but food was lacking depth in quality, which was a shame as we had high expectations. Won’t be returning.

The food was of an excellent quality. Well presented and tasted great. We came here after previously having eaten at the Crosby restaurant a few months ago which was also very good. We had the £34 deal for 3 courses which I found was reasonable value considering the high quality of the food. The 2 managers/front of house were friendly and approachable, as were the servers. My constructive critique would be that I felt some of the drinks were overpriced, particularly circa £7 for a pint of beer and £6 for cider. This combined with being asked whether we wanted more drinks by the servers over 10 times in an hour gave us the impression that revenue from drinks was quite important for the restaurant. There was also a pricing error on the bill when we received in which the total showed as being approximately £11 more than it should've been, however to the managers' credit he did quickly resolve this. Overall we enjoyed our visit, and particularly the food, albeit being asked 10+ times if we wanted more drinks! Can't fault the friendly staff though.

Amazing food, great service and a fabulous evening. Sammy took us to the table and was so pleasant and welcoming. Gary served us the food and was funny and friendly and James checked in on us and made sure we were looked after. The staff really made a lovely meal just better and are a credit to their profession. First time visiting but definitely not the last.

Quick service, lovely attentive staff, gorgeous food. I’ve been here for my birthday the past few years. This year, I was too full for dessert so the waitress brought my final drink with a candle in and played happy birthday. Made my day! Will be coming back again (and again!).

Our fourth visit to this gorgeous restaurant and once again it didn’t disappoint. Had the happy hour menu which is amazing value available every day until 6 pm with pasta and pizza dishes for around £10 so be sure to check this out. I love the relaxed, friendly atmosphere here, the staff are just so welcoming and chatty and give advice on the food which is very welcome when there is so much choice. The Decor is pretty and everywhere is spotlessly clean.The food is just amazing and, even better, they have a fabulous dessert menu. There is also a car park at the rear of the restaurant. The only negative is that we were told we only had 1 hour 15 minutes at the table so we were just conscious of the time when waiting for the meal to arrive but it’s because it is such a busy restaurant. My favourite go to restaurant at the moment locally and I will definitely be visiting again.

We came here for dinner one evening mid week I had the lasagna and my wife had the chicken burger the food was really good and the portion sizes were big. Will return.

Carvery was awful, queuing up for a long time. Can’t understand if you book a table at 6:30pm how many other tables are available at that time. If for example 10 others tables at the same time, with say 4 people - that’s 40 people all queuing up for their carvery. That said, the food was OK - but sadly I’d poured the Famous Toby gravy all over mine - it was thin, like dishwater and ruined my meal. I ate only what was not covered in the dishwater! That is not the Famous Toby gravy I know and sadly won’t be rushing back. My wife and my son had already spotted the dishwater and chose never to have any. They were ahead of me in the queue. So food was great, just mine was ruined. Staff were great a young man was our sever, although he mentioned he’d pass my comments onto the kitchen - his reply was not sincere. I paid the full price with drinks, as again my wife and son did not want me to make a fuss.

Really enjoyed our visit to Toby Carvery Ormskirk. The food was tasty and the portions were generous, especially for the price. Staff were a bit amateurish, didn’t really know what they were doing and took 15 minutes to get the bill after we asked for it, it wasn’t even that busy. A solid choice however for a hearty roast dinner with the family.

Awful Experience – Poor Service and No Basic Decency We had a truly disappointing visit to Toby Carvery Ormskirk and won’t be returning. Upon entering and sitting down to our table, I noticed multiple pieces of our cutlery was filthy and looked like it hadn’t even been washed. I didn’t say anything due to Leah seeming fairly new to the role and assumed it was her first day Our waitress, Leah, seemed new, so we didn’t expect perfection, but her attitude was unacceptable. She repeatedly walked away mid-conversation while we were still placing our order, which meant I had to go up to the bar multiple times just to clarify what we actually wanted. It felt rude and dismissive, and it made the whole experience frustrating and complete unnecessary I therefore had to approach another staff member named Riley, to try to clarify my order. who was just as clueless. At the end of our meal, our youngest child was unfortunately sick. We spent 5–10 minutes trying to clean it up ourselves, and not a single staff member came over to check if we were okay or offer help. When I eventually asked Riley if there were any cloths or if someone could assist, he laughed in my face. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour. To top it all off, when I paid the bill and looked over the receipt, I noticed we had been charged an extra £14 for no clear reason. At that point, I’d lost all confidence in the staff. Thankfully another lady who I assume is Management refunded my overpayment, which was highly appreciated This was one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in a long time — not just because of the food, but because of the complete lack of care, professionalism, and basic human decency from the staff I would appreciate a response from management regarding this experience. It’s unacceptable for families to be treated this way, and I hope steps are taken to address the staff’s customer service skills

So we went in at 7.30 and asked for a table for 4 . The restaurant was 90% empty yet the waitress asked if we had booked ( perfectly normal ) and went and checked if there was a table free ( as I said 90% empty) We went for a carvery , the waitress took a drinks order ( still 90% empty) took 10 minutes to arrive. Went to the carvery to order , all food lukewarm and no gravy or horseradish, asked for horseradish to staff 3 times , a good 5 minutes later it came out in a dirty dish with mint sauce slopped in it . We ordered 3 liqueur coffees and a 1 pud Pud never arrived and 3 liqueur coffees arrived with the wrong liqueur Utter shambles honestly , such a wasted journey with our mate from Bournemouth who incidentally ran pubs for 20 years and just couldn’t believe the shambles in an empty restaurant

Took the wife out for a cheeky Sunday roast as she had a busy week and thought I’d treat her to a night not doing the cooking or dishes. We had a lovely evening and our server, Leah, was polite and friendly the wife loved her. Definitely will be going again after great service. Thanks again Leah for a lovely evening the wife was happy👍 only issue was that some potatoes were a bit naff but other than that great evening out.

Arrived at 8:00 place was quite empty, went for the Carvery - meat portions were good but that where it ends. The veg and potatoes were lukewarm and had been out for a while. My wife asked for a coke cola. The server brought back a can and straw- we had to ask for a glass. I thought that was a bit off I would expect a glass with a drink. Service was fine but due to the quality and warmth of the food don't think we'll be returning.

Breakfast is help yourself which is fine but there aren't many staff around if you need one. The toaster was broken, bread was getting stuck and burning which was dangerous to both adults and children as no one was there to deal with it. Food was nice enough but anything that's been left under hot lamps long enough tastes slightly odd. Chef could have been a bit friendlier bringing the food out, maybe he wasn't a morning person.. price was decent, you get what you pay for.

Gorgeous breakfast this morning - in fact I think it’s the best veggie English I’ve ever had! Cobble don’t take bookings so we arrived shortly after 9 to secure a decent table. This was a good move as it did fill up quickly. Staff are super friendly and service was speedy - especially for a Saturday morning. Drinks prices are a little expensive but I thought the food was really reasonable. Will definitely be back to try the evening menu ❤️

Great brunch here this morning with my son. The food was tasty and plentiful. We had a slight wait for a table, but the staff were friendly and had us seated and served promptly. The coffee and milkshakes were also a highlight. The food was fresh and tasty. We will definitely be returning. The only complaint would be where our table was situated as people were sat behind us with a dog which I could smell as it had been raining outside.

Well, today we visited Cobble for the first time, along with our baby grandson. The staff were extremely welcoming and efficient. We had strawberry and maple waffles which were delicious, a very large toasted teacake and a slice of white toast for the baby. We also ordered an Earl Grey Tea and a latte. The drinks and the food arrived promptly. This place is very deceptive. It looks tiny from the outside, but it goes back a long way, has an upstairs mezzanine floor with several additional table AND an outside area at the back with several picnic tables and benches. The toilets upstairs are beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this café and will definitely be returning.

Food was amazing and very tasty, with large servings. We were taken to the upstairs and handed menus immediately but we then felt we waited a while to be served, which prompted us to ask someone to take our order, but was told she was only taking drinks orders, another server arrived fairly soon after that however to take our order, that said, the food arrived really quickly and was lovely. They were very busy, so this was probably a one off and wouldn't stop us going again.

Friend and I dined at Cobble for a get together Mother’s Day lunch. Food, staff and overall friendly quick efficient service was amazing. Great team work from all the staff and food was delicious! Thank you! We will most definitely pop back 🙂 thank you 😊

I was doing my daughter back at Edge Hill University, so we stopped in Ormskirk for lunch. My daughter is Coeliac, so finding somewhere to eat can be really difficult, and she's always concerned about cross-contamination. At first, she was a little unsure about what she could eat as it was only obvious on breakfast dishes that there were gluten-free options. A member of staff explained that there was gluten-free bread and so a lot more choice than we had thought, and not just the usual jacket potato we'd go for elsewhere. My daughter had the club sandwich with gf bread, which she said was the first sandwich she'd been able to have away from home in nearly 4 years (since being diagnosed). It was so good, and she's not had any problems caused by cross-contamination, which she has experienced in other places. I chose the Caribbean chicken wrap with sweet potato fries, which I really enjoyed too. The food was great, staff were really helpful and it was a great atmosphere. Cobble could definitely do more to tell people about their fantastic gluten-free offer. We'll be back because of how impressed we were.

Very disappointed in my meal, looked like chef didn't give a dam about the dish the fried egg was about the best item on the plate. Had the Choizo and cheese Quesadilla no filling to talk of, and served with pickle red cabbage didn't go with the meal.

Wow! We had the best night at Nordico Lounge. I booked the whole of the upstairs for 24 of us celebrating my sisters birthday. The service was incredible. The food was delicious (as always). We had so much fun! I love Nordico! It's my favourite place to eat! Highly recommend the Buddha Bowl!

Great cafe, various seating options including comfy armchairs. You can have all day breakfast, or burgers, tapas, oriental dishes and more. Nice variety to choose from and the Cowboy smash burger I had was delicious and I am rarely a big fan of burgers to be honest. You can have a classic eggs Benedict (it's hidden in the menu a bit, called Lounge Eggs), which was also good. I liked the cappuccino, the vanilla matcha latte was interesting. I guess the only disappointment was the sherbet lemonade, which was just like a watered down lemonade. I was offered a replacement when I mentioned it at the end, but I had other nice drinks so didn't need it at that point. It was a busy Saturday and we were told to expect half an hour wait for food. Well, they were faster than other places that don't give any warnings. Very good service overall. Oh and doggies are welcome :)

Pancakes were fabulous! Kids meals were good sizes and all eaten which usually is a positive sign! All food came to the table but one childs meal. We could see it (forgotten about) on the hot plate! I had to retrieve it myself before there were tears! Chef said waiting staff had disappeared.. 🤔

We went tonight as a party of 16 for my sons 18th with family tonight and I can't thank the staff there enough. Amazing time, amazing food, great price, fab atmosphere and amazing staff and management! I booked via email from 5pm for my sons 18th in the upstairs area and it was easy and simple! As a mum I admittedly was a bit overzealous with the messaging with various details etc but all was accommodated! I chose Nordico because ive been before and enjoyed it plus i had cealiacs and vegans in tbe party and the menu catered for all with variety which still not many places do! We had a buffet style tapas menu which was really amazing. Fresh cooked food put out on a high top long table with easily visible flags to show gluten free, vegan etc. A simple thing yes you may think however it's those little things like flags that make everyone inclusive and therefore relaxed. Chefs did Nordico proud! The f.o.h staff also equally fab. Despite being busy and probably me being a potentially 'needy' guest all enquiries/orders etc where met with a genuine smile and help/answers! The bartender who I asked to ask for my son for I.d while he bought his first legal pint was met with a smile and great banter while I took a pic! But also a big thankyou also goes to Ryan the manager. He was excellent which clearly echoes down into his team. Nothing was too much trouble. He explained everything when we walked in, was always available, happy, personable, professional, helpful, busy the list is endless! Several of us in the party have worked in the restaurant industry in varying levels and respect how hard it gets especially on key days/nights. But these guys nailed it as did Ryan. Even when I gave Ryan some of the birthday cake and a cash tip he explained without arrogance that he gave it to the staff as he was salaried. That there is a huge green flag. I can't say thankyou enough xx

Very reliable place to bring visiting friends and parents, or a nice brunch out with friends. A majority of our group have severe allergies, and have never had an issue with accommodating them seamlessly. I'd like to point out as well that it is easy to order with allergens, and have never had problems with anything. The staff are lovely as well!

Visited Nordico lounge for the first time today. Upon arrival, the staff directed us to a nice table. The place was very busy. The waiting staff provided us with menus promptly, and we ordered at the bar. The food and drinks we ordered came out within 15 minutes. I ordered a lounge breakfast. The breakfast was good, and it was cooked well. The prices are reasonab, e the portion sizes are good. The atmosphere inside was relaxed and too loud and the staff are really helpful. I'd definitely recommend this eatery, and if I'm in ormskirk again, I'll pop in

A lovely unassuming fine dinning experience in a friendly, relaxed (read unstuffy) environment. Took my mother as a birthday treat for the 3 course Tasting Lunch on a Sat. Started with a Kir Champagne, followed by an amazing little appetizer, which only added to the experience. Fresh made bread like we've never tasted before. A nice glass of wine for us both. The menu is seasonal but we had starters of haddock and pork for me, followed by mains of cod loin and chicken (so succulent). Mum had an apple cheese cake and I, the cheese board, followed by a coffee. All were amazing and not too filling. Service was excellent from all staff from beginning to end. Highly recommended

Excellent restaurant nestled away in Town Green area. Good set menu selection of food - we went for Saturday lunch - all of which was really flavourful and tasty. Portions are small, but carefully crafted, and use top ingredients. No multiple choice of dishes for vegetarians but what is given is super. Service and explanation of wine and dishes from staff was great, and they clearly take pride in their work. Highly recommend!

I don’t issue many 5 star reviews, as my experience has to exceed expectations, which can be heavily influenced by the price paid. And even when I do rate somewhere as 5 stars, there’s normally something I can suggest could be improved. NOT SO WITH SO~LO ! It really was as close to perfection as you can get. £65 (inc. 10% gratuity) I think is excellent value for what we received. Firstly, this was a birthday treat for my 85 year old mother, who can often be a ‘difficult’ customer. She’s not as tolerant of insignificant issues that wouldn’t be a problem for most of us. Our hosts at So~Lo ‘handled’ my mother and her quirks, PERFECTLY. So, let’s talk about the food. I’ll keep it simple; * attention to detail impressive * well balanced 4 courses with the exact volume of food to satisfy all but the biggest eaters * friendly & professional service * VERY HIGH quality ingredients * I can’t recommend So~Lo highly enough and will be sure to try and visit again, for their tasting menu, when I’m back in the UK.

Incredibly excellent. Went for dinner here in March 2025. I’m local to the area and went for a run at 7am-ish. The head chef was in the window, grafting. Had the meal at 7:30pm, head chef is there, grafting. I don’t eat veg normally but the food was just incredible- somehow even made the veg taste lovely :). The service was brilliant as well. My wife asked a question about what a “forced rhubarb” was and the head chef answered it for us- can tell they are so passionate about their craft. The place is spot on but relaxed and not stuffy eg can order a pint. Proud to be a local and see that other diners were eg French and had travelled to the area to experience it. Had an amazing experience. The food is fantastic, especially the Sunday roast—truly a must-try. The staff are so friendly and helpful, making the whole dining experience even better. Highly recommend it!

Having visited for our wedding anniversary last year, my husband has been a couple of times for the Saturday tasting menu. Today he and I along with my mum visited for the Sunday lunch. Set menu 4 courses for £64 with an optional cheese course and it was beautiful.

Visited on a Friday evening, only booked the day before and got the first seating. This is very reasonably priced for a Michelin starred restaurant, including the wine options. I was very impressed with the tasting menu. We opted for champagne and wine too. My favourite course was definitely the beef, but the scallop course was amazing. The service was great, very helpful and friendly staff.

I was really pleasantly surprised with this place. my sister and i wanted somewhere chill for brunch with warm food and this place DELIVERED. Delicious cooked breakfast and unlimited refills on hot drinks. The price was really reasonable and everything was better than i expected. I would highly reccommend for anyone wanting a chill atmosphere, groovy music and delicious food.

Very lovely quick lunch in this modern pub. It was busy and the staff were attentive. I did not like the milk 🥛 for the tea and the lack of dairy alternatives. The eggs were perfect.

I’ve been in Ormskirk for 4 years and I can’t believe today’s the first time visiting this pub. The interior is stunning, cosy seating area, and the lighting and music really adds to the vibe. Food… stunning (and free refill on hot drinks)!! Value for money👌 Well worth it.

Excellent genuine beef burgers - quite a stack to tuck into!, flavoursome and fresh salad ingredients. Service excellent -very friendly and helpful. Shame about the decor - very industrial, just not my cup of tea. Recommend and would go again.

After visiting today was really happy and pleasantly surprised at how nice it was even the interior was done well. Ive also highly recommend on social media too the family enjoyed the food and drinks here. The staff was excellent helped with everything even got a 2 for 1 on pizza which we took home. Big thankyou to the management who sorted this because of another matter and Well done keep up all hard work. 👌❤⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Amazing food, we wanted somewhere new to go and found this place (blessing in disguise). The staff were friendly, the food was amazing! I ordered the double cheese burger. The vibe was good and they were playing good songs too. Would definitely be visiting again.

Mums been to Iceland food. 3 pearls of pomegranate does not make a dressing. Burnt skinny holumi fried....chilli jam so set it had to be sliced. Loaded fish fries.....don't bother Ok bar

Great food: piri piri chicken was beautifully grilled, we liked also the samon and the "cataplana". Great and attentive service, good sized portions, great price per value. Definatelly we shall be back more than once.

Very pleased to come across this lovely authentic Portuguese restaurant in Ormskirk. From an extensive menu we were very conservative and went for the peri peri chicken dish. It was excellent. Next time we want to try the bacalhau dishes. We are already planning our next visit which is our best endorsement.

This fabulous restaurant has become a family favourite even our local football and famous boxers go here. Why ? Superb atmosphere great value for money and delicious Mediterranean cuisine. Staff are like family to my children now. Now under new management the food today was delicious . Service prompt and friendly and still having thar added edge of providing for our party (with a special needs child).

Visited for the first time today - lovely atmosphere and staff, still able to fit us in on a busy Saturday night. The food was tasty and very reasonably priced. Chicken was tender and the piri piri sauces were a great flavour. I'll definitely be coming back!!

Lovely restaurant and always enjoyable. As a portuguese can only comentários in my experience and noted in both visits that the food i had was laking a bit of flavour. Had the portuguese style steak and was ok not brilliant. Last time had the Bacalhau à Braga and the cod was missing flavour. Possibly too much time in water and was a bit too soft for what i am used too. For the prices i would expect just a bit more. Sorry

If you want great food in Ormskirk, this place is the place to be. The staff are very attentive and professional..the food is to die for. It really is. I recommend the muscles and sirloin...yummy . excellent food and evening...can't wait to go back..

Boxing Day meal Me and my family came across the cricketers and recently nipped in prior to check it out and loved the cosy vibes so checked out the menu for our Boxing Day meal and pre booked / did the deposit When arriving on the day was seated (twice as first on the wrong table but the staff seemed like they’d had a busy day already as we dined at 3) we had wanted the snug but in the conservatory instead but was brighter and worked out better The tables and restaurant was decorated all festive but when coming to dining we encountered an issue when asked what we wanted from the menu but had already ordered however re did the order only to be told one of the dishes was unavailable and not notified prior which was a shock The main issue was it was the vegan dessert and only one option available so considering we planned the 3 courses came up short they did offer an alternative but the option wasn’t preference so decided to leave the whole tables final course and just had 2 When the food arrived was nicely presented but Cold and Luke warm which we understood was probably due to the amount of t of diners so not sure how long the food had waited but did effect the enjoyment and eating experience We had a long yet relaxing time but left feeling a little underwhelmed after the build up to the day sort of an ant climax and think it could of been better organised as our deposit also hadn’t been knocked off the bill so had to notify our server who apologised Despite this me and my family would like to re visit and try again from their usual menu ( hopefully can get the dessert originally planned too ) and give a second chance Dishes tried l : Tomato and pepper soup Beef Bourguignon Mushroom arancini Hake Aubergine Borani Nut roast

I came here for my graduation meal on Monday 21st July! We were a party of 10, the service was excellent and all staff members were amazing considering the restaurant was very full for celebration meals! Two of us were graduating and we were given complimentary spritz which was such a nice touch to help make our special day even better🥂 I had salt and pepper calamari to start which was out of this world! To follow I had steak and ribs, the steak was cooked to perfection and the ribs had plenty of meat on. My family and the staff surprised me with a celebration dessert board which was the perfect way to end such a lovely meal! I would highly recommend the cricketers to anyone who wants to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you once again for making our day one to remember!👩🏼‍🎓

My partner and I came here as it was recommended by some friends and we had the best evening. The food was incredible, the service was exceptional by the two young ladies that looked after us. We finished the evening with a beer and a lovely sunset in the cute beer garden. Would highly recommend and we can’t wait to come back! 😊

Was looking for a nice place for food and drove passed this place many times and never gave it a second thought, then decided to give it a go. Great tasty food with plenty of options, we went for the lunch time menu and were not disappointed! Great allergy awareness too (wife is gluten free)! I had the chipolatas, followed by sesame tempura chicken with apple and blackberry peanut butter crumble for dessert. My wife had the garlic and herb chicken thighs followed by bacon and cheese omelette with mixed berry sorbet for dessert. Will be back again soon!

We went on steak night and the steak was one of the best I've ever had! Really nice atmosphere, cosy vibes, great service. Would highly recommend and will be visiting again :)

The food really let's this place down unfortunately. We were a party of 5 and 3 had complaints about the food and the other 2 couldn't really rave about their dishes. From overdone meat (tough and chewy), to a very odd tasting curry to grissly ribs to chips that had barely been cooked enough. Nice menu ideas, poorly executed. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The decor is quite fresh and nice to sit in but the food really did let the evening down unfortunately. I wouldn't return because of this.

Can only add my admiration of this restaurant to what all the other reviewers have posted. It truly is a remarkable establishment, totally professional and friendly. It really is The Real Deal as far as Turkish cooking at its finest is concerned . The ambience is chilled and relaxed augmented by the visual treat of watching succulent cuts of quality meats being expertly barbecued over coals . Cannot recommend this place more highly. First visit and most certainly will not be the last.

Food and service was fabulous. I had the Turquaz special which was cooked to perfection. My Wife had salmon. Each dish had so much flavour. We really enjoyed. Highly recommend visiting if you enjoy properly cooked bbq food.

Hadn't been here for a few years and how I've missed it. The starters, mains and sides were absolutely spot on. I couldn't find one fault with anything that was served. We'll done chefs and staff. You all did a fantastic job

The Food was very nice and tasty and the restaurant would have got a 5* but only got 2* because there was a 12% service charge added to the total of the bill. I already cancelled another group visit because of this charge and I won't be coming back. Customers should be able to choose to tip and not be forced to pay.

Firstly the positives, the food is always fabulous, fresh and despite always being busy there’s never a long wait to be served. The negatives are some of the front of house/waiters are incredibly miserable and make us feel like unwanted guests rather than welcomed ones. No smiles or pleasantries and quite abrupt. It has actually put me off going again despite the quality of food. It’s still a treat for me to eat out and some courtesy and a smile would go a long way when spending my hard earned cash. Sorry Turquaz but your staff need some customer service training.

The food was delicious and the portions were very good for the price. The place was also very lovely and comfortable, the staff were very friendly, Beyza in particular was nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend!!

Decent tasty food and a couple of real ales in an olde country pub. It's well worth a stop or a trip out.

We popped in with our dog on the off chance for Sunday lunch. We were immediately made to feel very welcome and shown to a table in the busy dinning area. Our drinks came very quickly and our food came quickly, we had starters and mains. One Sunday roast and one linguine. Both dishes were extremely tasty and great portion sizes. Our dog Chester had a big bowl of Sunday roast meats cut into small pieces. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and would definitely call again and recommend to friends and family. Only downside was identifying who were staff as they wore their own clothes but they were extremely friendly and attentive. Well done Kicking Donkey.

Absolutely stellar experience at The Kicking Donkey in Ormskirk! The hummus, salad, and focaccia dish was splendid. The main course of haddock, chips, and mushy peas was generous and delicious, though perhaps a bit too much for one sitting! However, what truly sets this place apart is the exceptional service. Attentive, friendly, and efficient staff made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Great atmosphere on a Saturday night! Without a doubt, The Kicking Donkey stands out as one of the best pubs in Ormskirk. Highly recommended!

Nice country pub with friendly staff and a decent menu.

It is decades since I was last at the Kicking Donkey. Went on a whim on a late Saturday lunchtime. Turned out to be a great decision - the food was lovely at reasonable prices for quality and portion size. The service was spot on; helpful and pleasant without being over the the top. And it's dog friendly which is a bonus. We will be back.

Held a get-together here after a family funeral. The pub is normally closed on a Monday but the management opened especially for us. We had a beautiful buffet, which was topped up regularly. The landlord and his bar staff were attentive, and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely beer garden, lots of seating in and out, loads of parking and lovely location. Would highly recommend. Thank you for helping us out x

Been going here for years and never had a bad meal or bad service. Superb food on the regular menu but also a great, varying selection of specials with good portion sizes and not overpriced. Staff and atmosphere are lovely. It really is a stand out place in Ormskirk and long may it continue! I only have one point for improvement which is that the otherwise fantastic burgers can get a bit soggy at the bottom I think because of the tomato under the meat.

They have lovely bread, bacon and eggs. The sausages were not as good as quality, but for a fiver you can't really complain. Looks like they do a good eggs Benedict. Came here on the weekend after seeing the Tea Room as we walked through town. Food was delicious and massive portions for a very good price! I was too full to sample amy cake but they looked good. Definitely worth a visit!

I'm a sausage roll enthusiast and the ones made here are delicious! An excellent sausage roll. The brownies are delicious too, if a little pricey, but most brownies these days are. Definitely recommend coming here for good warm food and snacks, will definitely fill a hole.

First time, and prob last time I come here. In my personal opinion the salt beef bagel was overrated and certainly overpriced at £9! with added pickles. At least heat the bagel up with cheese added, which I did not even get offered! Girl who served me said it had all these flavours from being it marinating over night.. I beg to differ,, very very bland😳 cold bagel bread.. Also the portion of beef added was quite minimal to the previous customer who had quite more added than me, what’s that all about? 👎🏻👎🏻

We visit this place for second time and our experience are good. We order 2 breafast bagels and 2 giant cookies. Bagels taste very good just lack of communication when lady was making our custom bagel. Things end up in the wrong bagel. But the giant cookies taste very good too. Nice and soft on the inside. We like this place. They have good price for very good and fresh food.

Visited for the first time on Sunday with my GF & the dog. The pub its self is a lovely venue with very attentive staff who made a fuss over the dog. Clearly it’s a very popular place as it was busy the down side for me, the food took quite a while to come (roughly an hour). We were not notified that there was a delay with service. The food when it did come was absolutely top notch, well presented, hot and tasty and Gus the dog enjoyed his steaks & eggs. A place to definitely visit if you are in the local area and we will be defo visiting again.

What a fantastic pub in Aughton/Ormskirk! The fish and chips and pies as well are second to none. That combined with great cask ales and wonderful service makes the Dog and Gun Inn my favorite in England.

We had a lovely warm welcome. Even though we haven't booked a table, they were able to find us one. The place looks clean and tidy. The staff were fantastic, they answered our questions straight away and made sure we were well looked after. The menu has a wide variety of food to choose from but not too many dishes. The food was very reasonably priced, good portion sizes, delicious add not a long wait. The toilets were clean and well stocked. Definitely returning.

We had absolutely no idea where to eat, daughter has just moved into the area and it was grandads/father in laws birthday. The staff were really helpful and accommodating. The food was great, all served hot and together, there was 9 of us, plenty to choose from. We booked in advance and everything ready for us on arrival.

Came across by chance looking for somewhere to eat. Nice looking little pub on outside and was surprised to find it was their monthly pensioners afternoon. We first went for a drink in the Hayfield earlier this week following an afternoon of shopping. Whilst there unfortunately I spilled my drink and without hesitation the bar man came over to help me clean it and poured me a new one free of charge. We liked the service so much we returned today for Sunday lunch. It was of a great standard -good portions, well priced and we received the same standard of excellent customer service from the Moment we stepped through the door. There were 8 of us who arrived at The Hayfield in Ormskirk. Thankfully, we had already booked a table, which was just on the left as you came into the pub. We were greeted by the manager (Jess?), who introduced herself and showed us to our table. 1 of us in our group had some form of dietary requirements. Jess explained that she'll be taking everyone's order at the bar, which isn't too far. We all decided what to have & went up to order. Excellent news - NHS/Blue Light Cards apply. 20% discount on foods & drinks. Food came & we all ate pleasantly. It was fairly busy. The TVs were on. The service, atmosphere, and food were excellent, so much so that we all had dessert, which was excellent as well. Thank you, Jess, and your team of staff. WHAT HAS HAPPENED to this place? I hadn't had a takeaway from The Cherry House for maybe 12 to 15 months. In all the times we had food from there prior to last night it was fabulous and we didn't mind at all travelling extra miles and paying a little more, that was until last night. For starters we had hot and sour soup and chicken satay skewers. The soup was a brown abomination which had 1 small piece of char sui and 2 tiny prawns in it. No spice to it or flavour. I have had worse than it but it is in the bottom 3 I've ever had. The skewers were just like a fine slither of chicken which had been wrapped up in some light brown coloured spare leather from a clothing manufacturer . It was so difficult to eat and chew. To be fair the satay sauce was decent. For mains we had the chicken chow mein and the beef curry rendang. The chow mein was so bland and the chicken quality was not great. The noodles it came with were fine The rendang curry seemed to have had coconut milk as it's rescuer to add some flavour. That being said it was more flavoursome than the chow mein. However, I do not know what beef was used, it had no texture at all and more akin to that of a marshmallow. Not good quality at all. It says something when the average quality prawn crackers were the standout part of the food. The staff at the front of house are friendly and welcoming so it is not their fault. It is not just myself who has noticed this major collapse in the quality of the food but my work colleagues from Ormskirk and Burscough have said the same that it has gone downhill. Pity because it used to be top drawer..

Really great food. Bit quiet when we visited as it was early afternoon but the lady who served us was absolutely brilliant. Everything done with a smile, nothing was too much trouble. And really good prices. Will definitely visit again.

Visited The Cherry House with my girlfriend for the first time last night , staff were welcoming and friendly. Restaurant was not full but still had a nice atmosphere. Food was delicious and there was plenty of it....we were given time between courses 🙂 so didn't feel rushed. We left with full tummies and had good value for our money. Would definitely go back again ..

I enjoyed a delicious Banquet with friends. However the service was mixed: one waiter was very good & cheerful one was the opposite. There was NO LIFT & no ground floor tables. 1 of my friends has serious mobility challenges & I am recovering from an operation; the lack of a lift is unbelievable!

Been a regular at the peacock for a number of years,, has the classic Chinese restaurant decor and feel to the place , few big banquet tables and 4 and 2 seaters, apart from the stairs as the restaurant is on 1st floor it is perfect, unfortunately my father struggles to make the stairs and unfortunately can not go anymore, the food is a great selection on offer many starters to choose from, the salt and pepper King prawn are huge and come crispy in the shell but my favourite is the squid and steak roll in black pepper sauce, not cheap but good quality and always leave fully satisfied, look forward to my next visit Lee pennington

Great delicious and plentiful food. What lets it down is the very limited and poor quality wine. Only one choice of chardonay,sauvignon and pinot and to be honest really poor quality wine. This is a shame because really good food, which it is at the Peacock should be accompanied by really good wine. I would prefer to pay more or take my own, if they only serve this wine should I return. I would like to know what the options are.

The Edge is fabulous. Their food is wonderful and the staff are too! All of the cakes are homemade and delicious... it's a well run family business which is a lovely change from your chains that dominate much of the lunchtime trade these days. It is special for me as it is where my Dad and I go whenever I visit him, which is often... There is no discussion about going elsewhere, this is the only place we want to go. Xxx

Wife and I tried The Edge for the first time during a visit to Ormskirk as we’d heard good things about it and it was great! Very good service and the food was excellent. We both had a steak baguette and mine was the best steak baguette I’ve had anywhere. Soft, warm baguette, tender steak, fried onions and mushrooms and topped with melted Stilton. It was simply divine and, accompanied by a BIG, strong pot of tea for two, was the perfect lunch! We are definitely going back the next time we are in Ormskirk.

Lovely little hideaway, great food and staff, my son is extremely fussy with food and ate everything including tasting the homemade soup I ordered for me (I have tried to get him to eat homemade soup for years and he’s always refused but he loved it) deffo be back soon, thanks again :-)

DO NOT BUY FOOD FROM HERE. My food was never delivered after waiting for 3 hours. I called the place several times and they kept saying there was nothing they could do and it was just eats fault, not very helpful at all.

Food is usally fresh, competitively priced and quick delivery. Chicken is never dry and chip portion is always satisfactory. Excellent place would recommend compared to others in the area.

Placed an order via Ormskirk Eats and waited until 15 mins after the estimated delivery time. Phoned the restaurant to be told that it was out for delivery, just then the status on the OE app was updated to 'out for delivery' (convenient!!). Waited another 25 mins, phoned back to be told they were waiting for a driver! Then I noticed on the app that the order status was now showing as 'complete'!! Phoned back again 20 minutes later to cancel the order, to be told that I'd have to contact OE to cancel and get a refund. Absolutely shocking customer service, no apology given....will certainly never even contemplate using them again....they simply don't care!!!

The service and delivery was great but the prawn pathia was absolutely shocking, extremely watery and no real taste, I've had lots of pathias but this didn't taste at all like a pathia more like a prawn soup but without the hot, spicy and sour taste. I threw most of the curry away and the garlic nan could have had some garlic on. Not good, won't be ordering again 😡

I'm sorry for the long comment.😅😅 The kids were hungry. So me and my husband and a 2 kids went to the pub called Bull and Dog to eat. When we got there one of the waitresses was quick to help. She led us to the table and gave us the menu. Then asked if we had any allergies,also she asked if we would like something to drink while we were choosing from the menu. We got our drinks in a few minutes. We bought 3 starters, 2 beef lasagnas, 1 cheese bacon beef burger and a french fries as an extra and we asked for the order together. My husband is also a chef and he was curious how long it would take to get the food. So he was very impressed when we got our food in no less than 15 minutes. And the food was fresh, hot and made from very good ingredients. The bar is equipped with different kinds of drinks for children and adults alike. The back garden is a huge dog friendly place,and there is a playground for children in the garden. As a parent I really liked that the children could play while my partner and I chatted and had a drink, and in the meantime we could keep an eye on them. The bar staff were very nice the food was very delicious and fresh. I can only recommend this place. It is worth every penny.😁😁

Bit of an odd place - barmaid more interested in chatting to friends/current customers than actually taking a drink order. Drinks reasonably priced, did not eat here due to needing to leave early. Lots of older men, clearly a “local pub only”, not welcoming for non locals, hills have eyes springs to mind Had to leave early, the field where the outdoor seating is, where the children’s play area is, is covered in dog poo, all 4 of us are covered in it, it may not be the pubs fault, but it’s not hard to check the field before they open Toilets are filthy and smell horrendous Very disappointed. Popped into The Bull and Dog in Burscough last week with my partner and our child for a family meal, and we were really impressed. We had starters and mains, and everything we ordered was spot on — tasty, well-cooked, and nicely presented without being over the top. The staff were genuinely lovely. Friendly without being pushy, and really attentive throughout — checking in at the right times and making sure we had everything we needed. It made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. The atmosphere in the pub is cosy and welcoming, perfect for families but still with that proper pub feel. We all left full and happy, and we’ll definitely be back soon. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and fancy a good meal with great service.

Five stars – absolute gem of a pub. The atmosphere’s spot on – welcoming without trying too hard, and it’s got that rare mix of being lively without being chaotic. Drinks are well-kept, prices are fair, and the food’s exactly what you want from a proper pub: hearty, fast, and damn satisfying. But what really makes this place stand out is the staff. Genuinely some of the best service I’ve had anywhere. Quick on the bar, friendly without being fake, and they actually notice when your glass is empty. Special mention to Regan – absolute class act. Knows the regulars, handles pressure like it’s nothing, and somehow keeps the place ticking with a smile and sharp sense of humour. Total asset to the place. If you’re after a pub where you feel looked after the second you walk in, this is it. No fluff, just good vibes and great people.

We called in here for lunch with our son and grandson the food was lovely and service was quick. We had 4 meals 2 × burgers 1 steak and 1 crispy chicken wrap all served with chips, 3 soft drinks 1 pint beer and the total cost was under £70. I would imagine it gets very busy in summer as there is a large outdoor play area

Super value. Decent portions and piping hot. Mac N Cheese burger was ace. Mrs Nick had the crumble and said it was the best she'd had for ages. The lady serving was very nice. Coffee fab as well. Would recommend.💛💛

Ordered steak and mushroom sandwiches. Asked for one with no mushrooms, just steak, nothing in the description said that onions were with the steak. It was changed quickly so thanks for that. It seems that everywhere adds salt to your chips/ fries whether you want salt or not, it would be great to have the choice and add your own condiment to your own taste.

The food is below average and expensive. The toilets are untidy and dirty. The overall experience was bad. The briyani lacked any flavor and was bland.

This place is now called The Saffron with new owners, new staff, a new menu and newly refurbished. The staff, the food and everything was spot on. Tamim was our server and was an absolute legend. A new gem in Ormskirk and we will absolutely be back!

Awful !!!! Love this place normally but tonight they have really let me down and I won't be ordering anything from them again. Delivery was shocking, the wait on the food was shocking, arrived stone cold, and only half full. I rang 3 times and got buttoned one of the times and completely ignored the third time - very rude !!!

Actually very good. The curry I had was really good and superior to a local competitor more highly rated than this place. Don't judge a book by the cover. Come here and try the curry. I think it's very good.

First visit to Cork.Found it very good food was excellent and service good.Only negative is the size of the Cappuccino was very small more like an espresso size ,so that was my only disappointment. I would recommend this establishment though.

Service perfectly attentive - Thank you! Staff were in no way familiar but in every aspect, very friendly! Carbonara pasta was cooked to perfection! Parmesan topping was very fresh, tasteful and flavoursome. The accompanying Chicken & Bacon Ciabatta snack was crisp and full of natural meat juices - not in any way pre-prepared and lifeless!! Thanks guys; unplanned business meet drop-in was a joy.

Took part in a group cocktail making session with a marvellous mixologist. His knowledge, patience and humour made the evening so much fun. Our drinks were divinely delicious and we all enjoyed freshly oven hand thrown, oven baked pizzas in the package. Can not recommend this venue it’s wonderful staff and the incredible drinks and food enough.

Called in today, for the first time, after today's meander that included part of the War Horse Route from Ormskirk, before cutting off up to Ruff Wood, through Edge Hill University and then back to Ormskirk. Friendly staff and a nice environment. My better half enjoyed her Honeybee Smoothy (Mint, Honey & Apple) but sadly my cappuccino was lacking in the espresso element - more like hot milk. Food looks inviting so may visit again (I won't be having a cappuccino)

My Daughter held her 21st in their nightclub "Mustard" upstairs the staff were brilliant & very helpful. Venue was great, good drinks, highly recommended.

Service, where all great, and it's also dog friendly and it's a fairly big place with bands on of a weekend with a great atmosphere well worth the visit but I must say some of the photos are were you order your food at the time I took these everybody was sitting down eating, and the frogs on the stage wasn't a band, also and the kids are welcome as well as it's a family place

Amazing food and drink venue. Choice of food is excellent. Simply find a table, scan the QR code and order from your phone. Prices are a tiny bit more than what you'd get elsewhere in town, but it's a lovely place to enjoy some food with friends. Literally a stone's throw from the actual Ormskirk Market, so can make a day of it getting some bargains from the market then relax and unwind here. Never had a bad meal or experience yet. Highly recommend the salt and pepper chips!!!

The food is okay but pretty over priced for what it is. The duck and pancakes especially is quite poor value. One of the vendors got our order wrong and then when trying to fix it made a substitute for what we got (bacon instead of pig cheek...)

Opening day. Only had some light bites, but I'll pop back again. Easy to order through scanning the code, much like Duke Street and the Baltic market. The salt and pepper chicken wings were nice, as was the crispy chicken tacos. Certainly an improvement for Ormsk and good use of the site since the indoor Market closed. Prices are similar to being in town, but that's the standard for food market outlets.

Awful, worst curry I've ever had, Tiny scraps of meat in the wrong sauce, tiny scraps of meat as a lamb starter... I should have just poured a jar of sauce over some chicken from Aldi and saved the money... 1 hour later it's blowing my mate's arse out!

Nigh on two hour wait for food. No apologies when delivered. Food Luke warm. Honestly the worst "tika" kebab I've ever had in my life. Zero taste. Binned. Avoid

The lamb tandoori and chicken tikka masala was ok, onion Bhaji was nice. However the chips were basically wet they were so soggy, the popadoms were inedible, they’ve managed to burn them and undercook them in one go. And the mint yoghurt sauce, I don’t know where to begin, anything this colour should not be served, the amount of food colouring in this is terrible, looks like a tub of play dough. Never again!

Absolutely abysmal service, food is always lovely but taking up to 2 hours and above is beyond a joke. Every year they seem to get worse. Ordered a good 5 times and there always late by an hour and above. Keeping the phone off as well is a great sign of a rubbish business and can't stress this enough to. They need new management or close because they can't run this business like this. Avoid or go and collect your self don't get it delivered. Lost another customer congratulations.

Well… where do i start. The 1 for food hygiene doesn’t shock me given the service i have received tonight! 2 hours passed after placing the order along with multiple calls to attempt to find out where the food was- we were told 5 minutes… two minutes. To then find out the delivery driver gave out food TO THE WRONG HOUSE. The man on the phone was nothing but rude- telling us we were one of 100+ orders that day so it meant nothing and then hung up. we will never be ordering from here again… disgusted isn’t even the word.

Waited and waited for delivery 40 mins after told meal would be here. We were eventually told the driver was here, but no-one was there to accept delivery. Turned out the driver was at the wrong address but when my wife phoned to ask where the meal was she was told there was no-one at that address to take delivery. Eventually received a cold meal, phoned to complain and was told we could have a refund but they want their food back. Had to keep meal as it was too late to order elsewhere. Customer service disgraceful.

Food took 1 hour 45 minutes. Chicken tikka masala arrived with NO meat in it. Could not believe it.

Awfull place ordered a veggie burger and the bun was rock solid rang them up half hour later they delivered me a new bun no burger that has already gone cold while waiting for the bun you would replace the hole burger not just the bun rang back said it hasn't been half a hour we said it has as we checked call logs and that the burger was cold he told us to go elsewhere next time wasn't bothered no customers service also another time I had a garlic bread ordered and there was pepperoni in the garlic bread and I'm vegan

The chicken kebab is absolutely delicious. The chicken was perfectly grilled tender and bursting with flavour. Salad sauces and portions size was very generous. Absolutely top class kebabs. Best place in ormskirk. Can’t recommend highly enough. Keep it up guys👌

We have used this takeaway for a long time, got an order for 4 last night and none of us were impressed with what we got. The meat was overcooked lack of sauces and salad let down big time. I can say I will not be using them again.

I nipped in here yesterday while visiting the area. The two ladies behind the counter were lovely and the whole place had a great friendly atmosphere. Then the food was absolutely 10/10 great quality. Massive portions (almost too big 😅). I would highly recommend it if you are local or in the area. You won't be disappointed.

Food is fine, but for the amount I’ve just paid for the tiniest wrap going. 6pound for a little wrap……. Meal deal at Asda garage is cheaper.

I can't begin to tell you how much I've missed this place over lockdown. Yesterday my heart jumped for joy when I saw they were open again. For a nominal £3 I got a huge sandwich. At least 10 times the value at one third of the price of the supermarkets. My only regret- they are not open evenings and weekends otherwise I'd be there every day.

They're my go to when I didn't want to cook. Their box meal of salt and pepper chicken and chips with either pork rolls, duck rolls, or sui mais is always delicious!

Cheungs is the best. Not only is the food absolutely amazing, (the salt and pepper sui mai are unbelievable! So is the crispy chilli beef....and everything else we ordered!) but equally importantly, the team are absolutely lovely. Every time I go in, they are so kind. Amazing service from start to finish. Really nice lady that delivers. It’s good value, particularly for the chow mein and fried rice dishes, which come in big round containers. If you ask for it spicy they add proper chopped fresh chillies. Overall, they seem like good people making an effort, with generous portions.

Sadly we had bereavement in the family and as our Aunty lived in this area we wanted a little get together after the service that was local for friends and family to gather and reminisce. The Royal Oak was just down the road so we asked inside about us gathering there and spoke to a lovely lady called Jen. She was wonderful; she helped with the catering, undertaking it all on and taking care of special dietary needs, as in we required Gluten Free as well as vegetarian food. The food was perfect on the day, as was the bar staff, as was the atmosphere and indeed as were even the local clientele while we all gathered. We could not honestly recommend The Royal Oak enough. We are so pleased with everything; we are planning to return there just to have lunch sometime.

After a change in management this beautiful little local pub is finally getting the love it deserves. The new food menu is delicious and affordable, I especially love the seasonal pumpkin soup! I can't express how lovely the staffing team are they really show care towards new and old customers. Definitely worth revisiting!

Feels like we have found a hidden gem! Stumbled across this lovely pub by chance and everything was great. The food was really lovely and the staff were great. The atmosphere was spot on and everything was very clean!! The beer garden in the back is as nice as you will find anywhere. Honestly it's the best pub we have found in years and over the moon that its only a 10 minute drive from us. You will ne seeing alot of us over the summer. Thankyou for a lovely evening

I know it was a mid week night and very quiet but me and a lot of my mates used to be regular customers here. Very surprised when I asked for a pint at 10.40pm to be told we’re shut now. I said I never heard last orders reply was … I never said last orders!

Wow just had a cracking Sunday lunch at the Oak which is back to its best. Had the short rib roast beef dinner ( see photo) and steak and ale pie (pie made fresh ) both meals were superb. Really good and attentive staff and have to admit better than the Stanley these days (less expensive too) m. Well done to the oak and good to have you back.

We love coming here when visiting Ormskirk.. The design of the interior with the wooden barrels for tables makes it very unique. As well as the music themed artwork on the walls. There's always a good selection of ales and largers to choose from and the staff have always been friendly. Highly recommend venue for beer lovers !

Warm & friendly greeting and great beer options. And added Bruce Springsteen to the playlist as we were heading to Anfield to see him. Long may bars like this continue.

Charming micropub - 3 cask ales, several tap beers. German and Belgian bottle selection. Both ales I tried were in excellent condition. No surprise it's won CAMRA awards. Dog 🐶 friendly.

Great bar great bear great everything apart from the regulars who think they own the bar area so bad youstugle to get to the bar to see what's on or order and have no intention of moving even a large dog lying down which spoils it for me you have to barge your way through to the toilets to because they wont move !

Bar snacks available (eg crisps & nuts). Dog friendly. Great for cask ale, nice G&T, usually 2 choices both red or white wine, prosecco (small bottles), both bottled and cider on tap. Tea and coffee also available. Treats for dogs and a water bowl outside. Small seating area outside front. Easy access from town centre, close to bus/rail network and taxi rank. Bar staff friendly. No live music.

A nice Japanese place in Ormskirk that's closing, and I can understand why. While the good was delicious, and the drinks amazing, the customer service means much to be desired. Waiting around for a simple diet coke refill, and trying another mocktail tested my patience, and the patience of those I was dining with. The pork belly baos, and lobster brioche buns we delicious. The chicken and tofu ramens were delicious, but the pork ramen was bland and had no depth. The chocolate spring rolls were delicious, and I loves the combination of darkness chocolate, acidic raspberry compote, and the coconut icecream was nice. Too bad the long wait for refills left a bland & bitter taste in my mouth.

Greeted with a friendly smile and welcoming attitude I wasn't sure what to think of this place, I didn't have any expectations but if I did I'm certain they would have been smashed! This place is excellent for the food, atmosphere and service! With outstanding quality food, great service and a lovely atmosphere it's the perfect place to take loved ones, family or to just go with friends. I'd highly recommend anyone to come here and, if you do, order a few dishes between the group to pick from (3-4 dishes for 2 people) and just dig in! Order a side of the prawn crackers which have a lovely togarashi seasoning and enjoy your meal with a good few glasses of sake to compliment. Will definitely be coming back here!

The food here is very good but the service we experienced during our last trip was nothing more than shocking. Completely forgot about by the wait staff on 5 occasions after requests from our table. Waited nearly 40 minutes with used dishes after our mains and had to walk to the till to order our desserts myself, all whilst the staff were play fighting behind the bar in plain sight. Shame the staff are incompetent and have no care/passion for their jobs as the food itself is very good.

Outstanding food, attentive staff and surprisingly great value. I had 3 items from the vegetarian section of the menu and I definitely felt full. With a drink, we paid ~£25pp. Can't wait to go back!

Just picked up from the new prescot store and WOW absolutely unreal burgers from this place. The loaded chips were really fresh with a lovely cheese sauce and the dips were delicious. I will definitely be ordering from here again best burgers in the area by far!

We ordered from here last week as it had been recommended, the food came piping hot, burgers were huge, fresh made sauces, fries where hot and crispy not soggy and not shy with cajun seasoning! i got the spicy zinger burger and my boyfriend got the double cheese smash patty! insane. we ordered again tonight, got a phone call to apologise the order machine had a glitch and processed the order late, so our order was a little late (we didn’t even notice) order came, food amazing again and the delivery driver said the restaurant had given us a free cake and ice cream for the late arrival. Can’t recommend this place enough, our new favourite takeaway! Thank you so much x

5 * and if i could give more stars , I would. We decided on a change tonight and as I've heard a few friends say how good it is at Baba Burgerz, we decided to have a treat and got a delivery. And wow!!! absolutely gorgeous burger I've just had, I had the triple cheeseburger and was really gutted when I finished it, it was that nice, I'll have to buy 2 next time. Really tasty and fresh, you can tell they take pride in their food. From the initial phone call , to it being delivered, they were very helpful and polite and It arrived hot, the packaging was really good aswell, very impressed. The family loved it, and we will be ordering more.

Blown away by the quality of the food. You can immediately tell the food is fresh, from the wings to the fries to the burgers. All amazingly tasty, staff very pleasant and helpful. The prices (without the discount of 20% over the next fortnight aside) considering the fresh quality of the food is so reasonable. I highly recommend, and other premises in prescot should take note and be ashamed of the ridiculous prices they expect people to pay. A welcome addition.

Absolutely spot on! Ordered from here the other week and sadly it wasn't up to standard, but after the owner contacted me and offered to replace the order to give them another chance, I was very impressed by this as they didn't have to but after getting the second order tonight I am so glad I did! Honestly the bacon double xl was amazing, the smashed beef patties with the turkey bacon were unreal! Combined with the baba sauce! Honestly mouth is watering thinking about it! Dissapointed last 2 visits. Used to be amazing. Paid over £30 for 2 burgers with bacon, standard fries and biscoff shakes. Burgers were soggy and sloppy in the box. Bacon was tough. Couldn't pick them up, had to eat with head over the box so they didn't fall everywhere. Premium prices for not so premuim food. Shame.

We stopped here for a quick breakfast. I had the small breakfast which was £5 with unlimited tea and coffee. Absolute bargain. The food was lovely and the place was spotless. The staff are all volunteers and are so attentive. The views are also stunning from the large windows.

I visited with a friend for lunch and we really enjoyed our meal and the venue. It is run by volunteers who are so friendly and welcoming. We had two prams and they made space for us no problem. There is a good choice of food on the menu at very reasonable prices. The service was quick, the food was hot and tasty and the overall atmosphere was lovely. We definitely plan to return and would highly recommend it.

Pre booked for Sunday lunch. You have to walk to the premises as there is no on-site parking, but plenty of parking at near by supermarket. Well and truly a pub experience. Lovely atmosphere but very busy. Very traditional pub decor and clean interior. The food was nice, I went for the mixed grill washed down with a pint of Peroni. The only thing I’ll say is that they had lots of beers of draught but the they didn’t have a menu and the waitress couldn’t name them either. Although, I could have easy got up and looked myself but a so mentioned, it was busy and would have been much more convenient to have been told at the table. Very small issue. The service was good, quick and friendly. Everything ing you’d expect. Lovely establishment and clearly it’s well run!

Went on a Sunday and it was very busy, good job we had booked a table for 5. We had black pudding, nachos and pork belly, followed by 4 roasts and 1 pie. 3 of us had to force ( we were already full) on of the best crème brûlée ever. We will be back

A nice local pub. For a while I thought it was a wetherspoons so didn't visit, but it's a real pub and quite nice. Lovely outside area and friendly staff. They serve Jute. Dogs are restricted to certain areas.

Lovely place with great food. Some staff members (one) were found to be abrupt, bordering on rude that made what was a happy family birthday occasion, feel a bit less pleasant than we'd hoped. After being seated for 15 minutes and reading the menu "what name was this table booked as?". Then returning to ask again. An "excuse me can I just ask" might have been nice. Nevertheless a very nice meal, very nicely cooked, and we would visit again.

Restaurant visit only so can not comment for the accomodation. First time visiting the restaurant but was pleasantly greeted on arrival by both the quaint and warming premises and the friendly front of house. We we ere served for the evening by Caitlin who initially came across as very welcoming and friendly and throughout the service provided attentive professional service. She was happy to build rapport and provide personal opinion to the menu whilst also showing genuine interest of guests on discussions. My wife and I shared the sourdough while you wait and the belly pork and burrata starters. The sourdough was lovely and chewy, the belly pork was perfectly crispy, and the burrata was fresh and light in flavour. For our main course, I enjoyed the 16oz ribeye cooked medium (as recommended) with the sides of sauteed greens with carrots. The ribeye, whilst both their most premium ribeye option, was one of the best steaks I have eaten. Whilst the veg was fresh, it possibly could have been slightly elevated to make it stand out a little more. The meat was wonderfully marbles with the signature gelatinous flavour pockets of a ribeye and whilst the size of the steak more than satisfied my hunger, left me craving more of it's flavour. My wife chose the Butternut squash, kale and pumpkin seeds tart which came with a side of new potatoes. Though I only tried a bite, the tart was wonderfully balanced, covering sweet and savoury notes and her plate was left clean. We each finished with a coffee and mini dessert, me choosing the brownie with a espresso and my with the white chocolate crème brulé with a latte. Both deserts were truly morish, though for a "mini dessert" were both a satisfying portion. The coffee was a tasty, non bitter roast that rounded off the evening. Our bill ended at a very reasonable £125 (rounded) and we will certainly be dining here again in the future. Many thanks to both the kitchen and service staff for a wonderful evening

Food and decor is good. The staff were very nice. Our waitress Michelle was excellent. She even sussed out it was my partner's birthday and surprised her with some lovely treats. Prices are steep in my opinion. The table next to us had 4 very young kids, so it felt a bit like a creche. This was approaching 9.00pm.

Very good, prompt service. The food was hot and delicious. The cheese on the cheesy garlic bread sharer was still hot and melted when you picked up your slice. We both had the cheese and bacon burger and the beef patties were cooked just right, not dry, so tasty. George our server was friendly and attentive. We visit quite regularly and intend to continue to do so.

A lovely place and setting for our anniversary meal. My partners steak was slightly undercooked but Zach our waiter got this sorted promptly and it was cooked perfectly after. I had the wagyu steak and it was delightful! A wonderful meal, fantastic service and a great atmosphere

Was a lovely scan, I was dying for a roast. Got the lamb pan roast. It was nice and pink and the beef dripping gravy nearly licked the plate, if I was in me house I would!!! 😋 lol also got a side of butternut squash. Rest of family had stake cooked to perfection. Server was Zach who was a delight never left us once without a drink. Overall boss!!!

Came to M&C aughton as its our favourite place to have a meal. Our greeting was welcoming as soon as we walked into the door, got shown to our seat and our server Sam was lovley from start to finish had good knowledge of what was best to have our steaks and our drinks came quickly too as wel as our food, The food was amazing! Id say the best ive had going to M&C! Will always recommend & will keep on returning

Every single aspect of our visit was amazing…lovely atmosphere lovely service incredible food….the cauliflower wings were soo good big pieces of actual cauliflower, which makes a huge change from the cauliflower wings I’ve had elsewhere, the veggie Shepardless pie was so tasty…the gravy was the best veggie gravy I’ve ever had…I could go on and on but you just need to try it for yourself…perfect 11/10 no notes 😍

I was so impressed with this place. Bar staff friendly and efficient and the restaurant was delightful! 12 of us for a 90th birthday party were quickly served and nothing was too much trouble.i really enjoyed the food and was amazed at the range of choice on the menu. The ambiance and the decor both worked really well. It takes a lot to impress me but Master McGraths managed it. In short, excellent hard working attentive staff, great quality and choice of food. Wozzers what a meal!!! Fantastic service and lovely welcoming environment. I have driven past this place for over a decade taking my children to school. We went with hope as it was Saturday evening. Stunning welcome and thats how the evening continued. Three courses for £24 people £24!! 5-6pm Locally sourced produce.. The Pork was soooooo tasty.. I could have licked my plate it was so nice. Portions Huge!!! Wozzers Then menu offers a selection for all. Thanks so much for a lovely evening and very tasty. We will return. Change nothing. Loved it.

From the time we walked in we were made so welcome, restaurant area really nice, staff really make you feel special and the food was exceptional, pate was homemade and so tasty, I nearly ate the plate, I won't go on about every dish we ordered but wow, tasty, fresh and homemade. Can't wait to return. Thankyou

Don't get the ribs, they're just horrible. I don't think I want to know how long they have been in the fridge after they were first cooked... or maybe they were microwaved from frozen. Rank either way. Silly me for ordering ribs at a beefeater I guess. Literally just a bland rack of chewy bitty ribs with some sauce on. £21? If I was there on my own i'd have walked out. Waitress was a gem though, good laugh and attentive, especially considering she seemed to be doing all the work while the youngsters just nattered. Chips and corn were alright.

I believe this may have been my first visit to a Beefeater establishment, but not entirely sure. That statement is already very telling as it has not left a memorable impression on the brain matter. I frequent several Premier Inns and many are attached to the same franchise. I was in just before 8pm in the middle of the week so it was not very busy. Guided to my table swiftly and an order was placed for a ribeye steak, medium rare. Delivery was relatively quick and the food was hot. Great start. The ribeye steak was as thick as the fries, not a great cut but great flavour. Kudos to the chef for trying to make this thin-cut ribeye steak medium rare. The chimichurri sauce was a great option and the herby, zesty fragrance worked well with the steak. Now the skin on fries retained enough oil to service a Landrover, they were crispy but not much else was going for them. I was looking forward to the pudding treat. Ordered the Mango & passion fruit sundae as the menu picture looked stunning (see for yourself). Noticed the difference yet! The picture in the menu has a full glass with cream on top whilst the presented offering was half a glass full of whipped cream. Halfway down the depth I finally met my pudding and it was fabulous. I think I got the £5 version and not the £6-99 option as advertised. I real pity as it did taste great but there wasn't much of it! Value for money 3/5 stars. Will I remember the experience - probably not! Will I seek out the establishment for a meal again? Only if staying at the same hotel group and as a matter of convenience.

Waiting too long to be noticed before being seated. Waiting too long for the bill to be brought. Food was good however, apart from a ridiculous cost of £1 for a miniscule pot of BBQ sauce. Every other sauce (e.g. tomato ketchup) is free. If you are going to charged for what should be a complimentary sauce then be up front about it rather wait until customers have finished their meals and it appears on the bill. Morale of the story, bring your own BBQ sauce!!!

Can't fault the service. Nice food. My fillet steak slightly overdone at £21.99 Hope they get the leaking ceiling fixed soon. Not good water dripping from light.

Popped in today having not been in for many years, we had seen the set menu for £7.99 each main, the place was very quiet and only a couple of staff. Was still table service which is nice, the food arrived in good time, hot and tasty, the portion size for the fish and chips was excellent, the burger and chips was less so, but you expect less for £8. But the main reason that it became a three star review is the state of the toilets, they stunk and were filthy (I got a couple of photos but there too gross for on here). As advice goes, if you check how clean the toilets are, you'll know how clean the kitchen is. Was shocking to see such a big company like this have such poor standards. Just for this reason its unlikely we will be back.

Very friendly place to visit. Always clean and comfortable and very strict Covid measures. Food is nice and breakfast is always lovely and plenty there to choose from 😁. We love it here, the staff are very accomodating and friendly too... Diane was very helpful when speaking to her about my sons birthday. Nothing is too much trouble. Visit here on many occasions....just lovely 👌🏻

I have been using the Morris Dancer for several years and I can honestly say, that I can't fault the place, the food has always been excellent and all the staff are helpful and friendly. The lady that usually serves us in the restaurant is called June. June is a lovely lady, very helpful and always has a smile. I highly recommend this pub/restaurant.

Sunday roast here is to die for.. probably the best I‘ve ever had 🫶🏽 The gravy was my favorite 😅. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Decent price and lovely drink choices. Highly recommended. Will definitely go back and try their other menu 😊

We booked our Sunday lunch today after a beautiful walk along the canal. We were greeted with kindness and gratitude! We had a table for two seated by the window with a beautiful view. We ordered two Roast dinners, one Pork and one Beef. They were both delicious- Actually the best roast dinner we’ve had for a while. We also enjoyed a glass of red Shiraz recommended by the lovely, young gentleman waiter! Overall, 5* service, food and surroundings! Im looking forward to celebrating Mothers day with you all on the 30th March x thank you 🙏

Came to The Ship on the 4th May for Sunday Lunch we did book before coming which am glad we did otherwise I don’t think we would have got a table. The staff were very friendly and helpful 😍 The Sunday roast dinner was one of best we have ever eaten it was very delicious 😋 the pudding was delicious as well but I forgot to take a photo😜 I had the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream 😜 my partner had the summer crumble with ice cream 😋

Today, we went to The Blue Mallard for lunch. However, we had an "agenda". Having looked at different venues for an event, we decided to look at this restaurant, sample the food, do some fact-finding and make a decision. This was easily achieved. The set 2 and 3-course menu was not overly-long but, where it lacked in length, it certainly gained in content - excellent! Our lunch was superb and it's clear why the chef (one of the two partners) has won a coveted Michelin award. The food was beautifully presented and now in our "the best we've ever tasted" group (and, believe me, we've been to some good restaurants). We spoke at length with the other proprietors - a delightful, very knowledgeable and professional lady who certainly knows her stuff! She listened, advised, suggested, and was very impressive. We have looked at the reviews about this restaurant and, since the new owners took over (approx 6 weeks ago), there have been some surprisingly negative reviews. Frankly, we can't understand it. Following our very positive experience today, we had no hesitation in going ahead with our booking and also booking for their French Evening later this month (after which I shall post another review). To all those who have been influenced by the negative reviews, don't be! Go and make your own decisions. These things are, after all, very subjective. You won't be disappointed. To the new owners, thank you so much for a lovely lunch.

Went for Valentines night and offered a fine dining menu. To be honest, we were left disappointed. An overly price menu to start given the experience. The starter was beautifully presented, however that was as exciting as it got, bland with flavour combinations that certainly did not work. The main course again beautifully presented, but luke warm at best. There was a 35 minute wait between our courses and the resturant was empty. The staff seemed nice but rarely interacted with us, and the chef could be heard yelling at the waiters. Disappointing for such a lovely location and setting.

I have been to the Blue Mallard on many occasions, for a wedding party, evening dinners and Sunday for early dinner. I have never been disappointed in the service and excellent locally sourced foods of all descriptions. The food is cooked and presented to a very high standard by excellent chefs. and not over priced.The ambience is very informal but very pleasing and the staff are professional friendly and extremely welcoming. I would and have recommended this restaurant to many people. This restaurant is a hidden gem- try it - you won't be sorry.

I've been twice to the Blue Mallard this year. Once for a special meal with my wife and the second time for a birthday party for 15 people. Each time the experience has been excellent, with food to die for. Each visit has surpassed expectation with friendly helpful staff, for whom nothing is too much trouble. I travel a lot for business and eat out all over Europe on a regular basis, this has to be some of the best food I have tasted in a long long time. If you are in any doubt, just go; you won't be disappointed.

My fiancee and I stayed overnight in our campervan, initially asked permission. We had an afternoon drink, viewed the menu, booked a table that evening. Our dogs were allowed in bar area, not restaurant. Staff were excellent. They were professional, polite,and humorous. We both agreed, the best meals we have had on a campervan stopover. We will definitely make a point of returning on future travels.

Excellent food and lovely atmosphere! The staff were really friendly and attentive, regularly checking in to make sure everything was okay. We had starters, mains, and desserts – all were very tasty and well presented. The only downside was the pie – the crust was extremely hard all the way around and unfortunately not edible. Aside from that, everything else was great and we’d definitely come back!

Lovely pub, canal side location, Cheese garlic bread was lovely and really soft and tasty. Kids pizza was lovely seemed homemade my little ones enjoyed it. The pie was lovely too, the meat was soft and tender. Lovely place to go for lunch

After a 4-hour walk to get here, I was really looking forward to sitting down and having something to eat at the Saracens Head. On arrival, I was greeted by staff and even handed a menu, which made me think everything was fine. However, when I went up to order, I was abruptly told they weren’t taking any more food orders. When I asked since when, the staff member replied, “just now.” To make it worse, I was then told I could try again at 7:30pm – the time was 7:15pm. Why? I just don't understand. Why not just take my order and add me to the back of the queue? Why ask me to waste another 15 minutes of my time? What makes this even more ridiculous is that the pub wasn’t even busy – not anywhere near 30% capacity. There was no obvious reason why they couldn’t take my order, especially as I would happily have waited for my food. Instead, I was turned away after being given a menu, which just comes across as poorly managed and dismissive. The whole situation was extremely frustrating and a complete waste of my time after such a long walk. It doesn’t take much effort to communicate clearly with customers, and the lack of basic consideration here was shocking. Very disappointing experience, and I certainly won’t be returning. A blessing in disguise really as the pieces are extortionate.

Nice pub and a good location too, with the river right out back. Food was lovely and service was good. We had a lot of people on our table so they coped well!

Today we took a friend for her birthday and the team here were amazing so friendly. We asked if we could be seated near the canal which they did and if it was OK to do a small birthday cake with candles, it was no problem for them even went above expectation and the lads came out singing to her and plates to serve. We never thought about eating our cake here we intended to order theirs and I'm glad we did the food was amazing Highly recommend

The staff in here should be given an award for there polite happy friendly style. We have had a difficult time and the staff here gave us faith in humanity. There are so many names I could mention but every single one has a lovely smile and such a courteous nature. Whoever owns this pub congratulations for employing such good people. Food excellent drink excellent hospitality excellent no more that can be said.

Nice pub. The staff were helpful and friendly. I had a burger which was nice. The beers are JW Lees, so it's ok if you like their beers and they also have cans of Neck Oil and Gamma Ray. They have a big outdoor area with lovely views, a good size car park and the building is lovely. They are dog friendly.

Popped in here for a pitstop. Drink and toilet. Lady was very friendly who served me. The pub is very clean and well maintained and seems cozy. Can't comment or rate food because never ate there and the pub was quite due to just opening when I arrived. Managed to take some photos. The pub is situated just off the Liverpool to Leeds canal. In Ormskirk. Great location for when you want to stop off and have a bite to eat/ drink or for a pitstop like I did when walking on a warm sunny day.

If like me you like canals and beer then this is the place for you as it has an abundance of both, set majestically on the Leeds Liverpool canal it is the perfect place to drink beer while procrastinating and taking in the views of the waterway but what makes this place different to all the other canal pubs I hear you ask, the staff are incredible and the food looked spectacular! Will definitely be sampling the the delicious array of comestibles next time, but I digress as by far this establishment's greatest and most precious asset has to be Ted! There is a very few people's who go the extra mile for no other reason than to actually make sure you are ok, not because it's their job but because they actually want you to be ok! Ted you are a legend! Everyone likes good service and if there were medals for it Ted would have a chest full. See you all again very soon you massive legends 👍

Today we wanted to visit the Ship to celebrate a family birthday but my Aunty is housebound and we finally after 2 years managed to get her into the garden. My husband went over and asked the staff if we could order food as take out from the pub and Ashlea couldn’t have been more accommodating. She came over to my auntys house ( just over the bridge from the pub) and made my aunty feel so special and served us drinks and food the garden. We are forever grateful for the staffs kindness and even though the pub was busy they still went out of their way to run food and drinks across to us via text message. The food was delicious, the loaded salt and paper fries were our favourite. The whole surroundings of the pub with the canal is beautiful and with such lovely, helpful staff I’m sure it will be the place to be this summer. Thank you ladies, you made our family so happy today. ❤️

Came in randomly looking for food, was not disappointed. Food was reasonably priced, very tasty. Lovely staff, very friendly. Dogs are welcomed. Kid friendly and wheelchair friendly too. Clean, lovely scenery outside. All in all a very positive experience. Would recommend going.

First time visiting here. Went with my boyfriend and dog. As soon as arriving, we were greeted by such friendly staff!! The interior and atmosphere was spot on! Was recommended the fish and chips - it did not disappoint. I think it’s the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Would 100% come back here!!!!

We celebrated our wedding here on the 2nd of September, and honestly, it was flawless from start to finish. The buffet was hands down the best we’ve ever seen at a wedding, every dish was exceptional. A huge shoutout to Ted, Emma, and Ella, whose warmth and dedication truly went above and beyond. The garden looked absolutely stunning, creating the perfect backdrop for our special day. And a massive thank you to Rachael, who coordinated everything so seamlessly. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect experience.

By far, the best meal I’ve eaten in my entire life. The oyster was sheer perfection. I visited when it was still 2 Michelin stars but I can absolutely believe why the restaurant deserved a third. We would definitely visit again but at just short of £1000 for two, we might leave it for a little while!

This is solely for the restaurant. I had a pleasure for a very different experience in terms of service. Really never been ushered and waited upon like this. The food was very good. I choose the lunch option. I am fortunate to be from a country that the food quality by itself is very similar without the stars, so I was not really taken aback by the dishes, though they were amazing. The technique was good and presentation, this I experienced for the first time. I didn’t like: Size of dishes and mainly the main dish. I am hungry after a very high bill. Didn’t like that one of the waiter, brushed the crumbs in my direction and probably also on me. Didn’t like to get a service charge - this was not specified on the booking of the meal and I felt that the meal price was including the “show” specifically due to the portions size. Anyway it should be written or clearly communicated that I have a choice in the matter, felt very embraced by that. And also kind of ushered out when they got I am just taking room to check my phone. Very lovely place, I do hope that my donation to the school (both the extra symbolic amount and profits share) doing good and was pleasantly surprised to happy to support. The setting is really nice. At least for me that am not use to “working” castles/ mansion houses. Food was good, and to be fair, I dont eat all types of proteins which of course I informed in booking.

Today I had the most wonderful experience . For a Birthday treat my dear friend and I had the taster Menu, what a delight. Every taste was different and was expertly described by the wonderful attentive staff . The staff , in particular, Joe, went above and beyond to make our visit so unforgettable. Adam was also so attentive and took time to chat. Everyone was so professional and spectacular in their areas of expertise. From the moment we went through the door till we reluctantly left it was as if we were the only diners there and to top it all off I received a signed Birthday card. Well Done to everyone.

Cannot recommend Moor Hall enough. The food is the star attraction, naturally, with 20 courses of amazing flavour, worthy of the restaurant's three Michelin stars. The service, staff, rooms and ground are also fabulous. We had one of the new Garden rooms, which was lovely. Yes, it's expensive, but if you appreciate Fine Dining you need to come here.

I have been to Moor Hall and the accompanying restaurant The Barn on many occasions. I started going to Moor Hall when the tasting menu was £95 and they didn’t have any stars. Every single time I have been it’s been superb. I can’t fault both restaurants. The quality of the food is second to none. The service is also fantastic. Both these restaurants are in my opinion the best in the country. Keep up the hard work Mark. You deserve all your success.

I had high expectations for this hotel/restaurant given its reputation and the quality it’s known for. Unfortunately, I was left very disappointed by how my recent experience was handled — or rather, not handled at all. Due to an unexpected and unavoidable situation, I needed to cancel a booking. I reached out via social media, explaining everything clearly. The message was read but never acknowledged. No reply, no follow-up, nothing. I fully understand that cancellations can be inconvenient, but a simple response — even just a brief acknowledgment — would have gone a long way. Especially for a place that positions itself as high standard and customer-focused, this lack of basic communication is surprising and really disheartening. It’s not just about this one situation — it’s the principle. When a business doesn’t take a moment to respond to a genuine message, it speaks volumes about how they view their customers. Really disappointed, and unfortunately, this has changed my perception of the place entirely.

I recently visited Moor Hall with my wife, not for the first time. The evening started well, the taxi arrived on time, the entrance to the hall is magnificent and the decor of the grand pre/post dinner space is rather good. It was downhill from there, almost immediately. One problem that kept on cropping up was the music. 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s subtly singalong melodies but sub par songs are not a great accompaniment to an evening and any restaurant that plays a less than average Manchester band such as James singing ‘Sit Down’ really needs to get a psychiatrist. I don’t know why this keeps happening to me, recently travelling business class on Cathay Pacific I had the same problem, but on one of the pre-meal delights the salad had rotting leaves. Quality control was clearly lacking. Next we went to the garden. It is rather wonderful, but I didn’t feel free to roam, as I had before, but instead we were guided. We were given a ‘pea’ delight which would have been delightful if it didn’t provide enough sodium chloride to last a week. And so to the meal itself. It was mostly delicious. I particularly enjoyed the oyster. At this point I politely asked for the music to be turned off. It was distracting and created an ambience that was not conducive to enjoying the meal. I suppose somebody has to be sat underneath the speaker…. As far as I could tell my request was ignored. We had a piece of lobster with cheese. I’d rather not have a strong tasting cheese covering my lobster so I asked for it to be placed on the side. A more sniffy response from the waiter I could not have hoped for. It did not help that the lobster was overcooked. We later tried a dish that was so unpleasant I asked for some water with lemon to clear my palate. Then I asked again. And again. And again. It did arrive eventually but it rather seemed like a stark example of the left hand not knowing what the right hand was doing. At these prices I expect better. On the other hand the crab and broth combo was to die for. They could have taken away the crab and kept feeding me the broth and I would have died a happy man. “Oh, by the way can you do something about the music…” A little later we were given a piece of turbot that could not have been cooked better. Superb. We were then shown a gorgeous whole crown of duck. I’m sure the waiter had something to say but at that point a song by the Jam got it in the way. While I didn’t expect to be served the whole crown the two measly slices I did get were a vast disappointment. It is really bad psychology (retired Prof) to do this. When one has to say that the cheese selection was the highlight of the meal one can only be disappointed. Previously I would have recommended this restaurant to everyone. Not any more. Now I would recommend it to my friends who like to gamble and have bad taste in music.

Popped in was dead at lunch time which set alarm bells however so surprised how gorgeous the food was we will definitely be going back and recommending to friends to try get more people in so reasonable for great quality food

Good Two course Sunday lunch. Pictured is the Black Pudding starter and Chicken. Once you deconstruct the tower of food there's a real plateful! Only downside is that drinks service was a little slow and not much range of ales - could do with a good local bitter - maybe a collaboration with nearby Neptune Brewery?

This place has good food and great service: however, two things let it down - the sauces (they use cheap ketchup / mayo etc) which really lets down some great dishes (like fish and chips) and then second the chips. Homemade chips would be great but they serve oven / premade chips. Their steak, fish and pasta dishes are good and lovely desserts.

We have been to the new refurbished restaurant before and loved it! However, we went today for an impromptu lunch and the food wasn’t great. The tomato soup was so salty I couldn’t eat it. Then I had tortellini and it was undercooked packed tortellini in a sauce that was too thin and just tasted of milk. The person who waited on us was lovely and I really hope the food was just a one off.

Great ambience. We were a big group and booked on a Friday night. Inspite of this, there were no delays in food or drinks being brought the table. Nice place if u r looking for good food, great ambient and ample free parking. Not much vegan options hence the 4 star

Beautiful food, great staff. Spacious and immaculately laid out interior. We sat outside in the fresh air and sunshine overlooking the fields and surrounding countryside. For one whole day, my birthday, they made me feel like a king. A memory I will never forget... UPDATE: Popped back in tonight and tried the beautiful Portuguese Fish Cakes and Calamari #DELICIOUS

First time visiting The Sinners Club,it wont be the last. Tasty burgers, cooked well. Go simple with a double cheeseburger or be different and go for one of the many speciality burgers on offer. We had 2 burgers, one the basic cheeseburger and the other one of the speciality options, 2 lots of cheese and bacon topped fries, 10 onion rings, 2 pints of drink and one dessert and was just over £40 which i think for the quality and portion sizes was spot on. Lovely looking place, we went first thing saturday which was relaxing but i can imagine its an amazing place to be inside when its full. Definately a place you should visit if burgers are your thing.

Very cool american style dinner offering burgers, hot dogs, wings and fries. I had a sinner's burguer that it was absolutely amazing with some plain fries that they were just ok. The staff was nice and pleasant although I wouldn't say very efficient. Lack of clean cutlery and dirty tables around. Absolutely recommended, those burgers are worth a visit.

Peng munch. This place has good vibes and personality. Had the doomsday burger. Outstanding grub. Very happy foodie.

This place is okay. I always wanted to come here, because the food on the menu sounded so appetising. So, when I did finally get to visit it felt like a bit of a let down. The restaurant felt grubby, the drinks glasses were dirty, the staff were very unenthusiastic and the food was just okay for the prices. Car parking for the number of shops and restaurants in the area is very low. The decor was the saving grace for this place. Very interesting and well thought out.

Lovely burgers. Cheesy chips are to die for Milkshakes in various flavours are on offer. I usually get the oreo one which is my favourite. Can never make room for pudding! Defiantly going to try the competitions they do there!

Excellent food. Wonderful staff, especially the female Sommelier. Two stand out dishes - Duck liver parfait was brilliant as was the chocolate tart. There’s a nice outdoor area to have a drink before your meal, so I recommend going early if it’s a nice day. There’s a small car park and an onsite hotel.

The Sunday roast dinner dishes were delicious. However we were all disappointed by the main menu portion sizes. We had the set roast dinner (one thin piece of beef) and a hen dish from the main(very small portion). The cost does not marry with the portion sizes, even for a Michelin star restaurant. They were sizes you would expect on a tasting menus, not main menu options where we spent £100+ per person. Sadly it’s put us off going again. However fab service, great tasting food and lovely relaxed atmosphere. Children appeared welcome which some of my party loved in a Michelin restaurant (and some not so!)

Lunch set menu served quite a small portion of food. But the dishes itself were great, especially the crème fraiche ice cream. Enjoyed a lot working around their herbs and greenhouse garden.

Setting, food, service are ALL FAULTLESS. Superb produce mostly grown on site or local expertly cooked presented and served. It was mesmerising watching the service team. It was like watching a well rehearsed tango. Perfection!!!

Phenomenal experience with fantastic service, and for what you get isn’t exactly that expensive when you sit and enjoy the whole experience! I’ve had more expensive meals that have not involved as much as the Sunday Dinner Tasting Menu, that you receive her! The servers are warm and welcoming, with impeccable knowledge whilst delivering the meal and what everything is. The food is full of flavour, rich and just spectacular. You can see why they have a star. That being said, the experience isn’t overbearing and is somewhat laidback and causal, something you could do more often and enjoy. It’s not something that would have anyone feeling out of place, but more welcoming and just wanting people to enjoy amazing cooking and experiences, together. A skill that is hard to do!

We had lunch at The Barn today, and honestly, the food was fantastic - beautifully presented, packed with flavour, and clearly made with real care. The service was mostly great too: professional and attentive without being over the top. That said, we did struggle a bit to hear the waiting staff. The background music, all the hard surfaces, and their very soft-spoken way of talking made it tricky to catch everything they said at times. Unfortunately, one interaction towards the end took the edge off what had otherwise been a lovely experience. It was just one waiter, but my partner didn’t hear him properly when ordering dessert, which led to a slightly awkward moment. Later, there was a mix-up with my coffee order that was handled in a rather dismissive way. It wasn’t a big issue, but it did leave us feeling a bit uncomfortable - not what you’d expect from somewhere of this calibre. Such a shame, really, because the food and the setting were both outstanding. If the service had matched that level, it would’ve been a flawless experience.

Great cafe busy upstairs and down. Good selection of everything including vegetarian and vegan. Friendly staff, toilets were clean but upstairs only. Despite a sign indicating that this establishment is a "cafe" , it is on the pricey side. Ordered a black coffee and was told it was an Americano. I wonder what Americans call a black coffee. Would recommend.

I had a lovely lunch yesterday, gammon, egg chips and pineapple and peas...meal was freshly cooked and piping hot, with a lovely pot of tea and extra hot water in a jug. Best lunch I have eaten I a long time. Lovely atmosphere, clean and tidy and lovely staff.. will highly recommend and return again..Thank you lovely Staff.

loved coming here, the menu is very large which is a bit overwhelming but so much choice doesn't impact on quality, gorgeous food and a welcoming, comfortable atmosphere. exceptional customer service can't wait to go back.

Great local coffee shop, two storey with table service. Beautiful savoury offerings, very comprehensive menu and very large selection of cakes. Very pleasant staff

The atmosphere is relaxed in this hidden gem. I had chicken and bacon salad which was memorable because it was delicious. Croutons were quite greasy though which were left. Partner advised the breakfast was OK. There are plenty of options for dietary needs which is a bonus.

Amazing gluten free spot! Catered brilliantly for GF and nut allergy. So much choice. Food delicious and fresh. Staff very friendly and attentive. Lots of room inside. So impressed, will be back!
