Cafe Chill was recommended to us by both a friend and our driver while we were in Ella, and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was vibrant, with great music and lighting that gave the place an energetic vibe. The food was absolutely delicious—we were pleasantly surprised to see poutine on the menu, and it turned out to be really good. The drinks, however, stole the show. The margarita in particular was outstanding, easily one of the best we’ve had on our trip. Cafe Chill is fun, lively, and a must-visit spot for anyone in Ella. Highly recommended!

The best Sri lankan food i had. Place interior design was great, spacious and very local. Prices are affordable and serving is generous. Chicken lamprais was the BEST in my entire sri lanka trip. Ambience and staff are great.

Amazing place! Me and my wife had a very nice experience eating here! We ordered two typical dishes and were very tasty! Maybe the prices are somewhat higher than other local places, but I would say it is very worthy taking in mind the portion sizes! The service was also very attentive and kind!

The Trip Advisor award of 2nd best casual dining in the world is well deserved. The burgers were yummy, as were the caesar salad, rice and curry plate and carbonara pasta. Fab music vibes from the resident DJ. Spectacular venue. Great service. Reservation highly recommended. Dine after 7:30pm to get the best atmosphere.

I wont say much. This is the second best restaurant according to tripadvisor. So you should know by now how everything should be. Food: Great taste. Quantity is also huge. Almost all the fast food dishes comes with sides. We took two wraps, one vegetable noodles and one chicken burger. Everything was top notch in taste. The burger had three chicken patties which was very unexpected. Atmosphere: Nice atmosphere. You can feel the energy after entering. There is DJ and clubs. So a lot of options for entertainment. Service: Again, Good service. Staffs were friendly and helpful. They also work fast. Overall, highly recommended if you ever visit Ella

All the meals were delicious and full of flavor! The pratah and roti were made fresh and served piping hot. Easily one of the best meals we had in Sri Lanka. Prices were reasonable. The setting could be nicer but that didn’t stop us from enjoying it. Totally recommend!

Very nice place! We were first irritated as there was a queue in front of the restaurant and we've never seen one before a queue for a restaurant in Sri Lanka. However, we tried lunch next day at this place and it was really really tasty. We had a chicken curry and we could choose additional 4 side curries to the main dish. Prices were very reasonable. If we go to Ella again, we would definitely visit this place again!!!!

This cooking class was undoubtedly one of the best experiences we've had so far in Sri Lanka! If you are in (or will go to) Ella, you definitely cannot miss this opportunity! It was a super complete and enriching experience, where we learned a lot about the culture and typical cuisine of Sri Lanka. The chef who taught us the cooking class was incredible, besides having a lot of experience and knowledge in the area (an authentic chef), he was super enthusiastic, funny, kind and cheerful! It was a pleasure meeting him and being able to have this cooking class with him! We were able to learn how to cook several typical Sri Lankan dishes from scratch. We were even able to make our own coconut milk, from the moment we cracked the coconut until we made the milk itself, super fresh and tasty. Then, we cooked a coconut roti, several different types of curry and also a delicious dessert with banana. And, in the end, we ate and enjoyed the delicious meal we cooked with our classmates. It was a really fun and amazing experience in Ella! Don’t miss it if you have the chance because it's really worth it! 😊

For an authentic Sri Lankan culinary experience, we highly recommend this restaurant. The cuisine is both delicious and genuinely representative of Sri Lankan flavors, offered at a reasonable price point. The staff consistently demonstrates exceptional courtesy and kindness; in particular, Mr. Upali provided outstanding service, characterized by his friendly demeanor and efficient responsiveness.

We were told this was a must-visit in Ella — and it absolutely lived up to the hype. Expect a short wait even in the quieter seasons, but it’s worth every minute. This unassuming little restaurant sits toward the far end of town (opposite side from Nine Arches) and greets you with friendly staff who keep things moving efficiently. The service was excellent — menus given while queuing, tables cleaned quickly, and great recommendations from the team. We had the samosa, curry selection, and flatbread — simply wow. Everything was fresh, beautifully presented, and spiced perfectly to our taste (medium). No room left for dessert, but they looked fantastic too. A special shout-out to our waiter, who even tipped us off about a local music event that night. The meal was very affordable. Would say lives up to expectations and more. Best dinner of our trip.

Staff is attentive and lovely. We had avocado toast and fruit smoothie bowls, accompanied by lotus flower tea and The sky meets sea tea. All was perfectly presented and delicious. Also,ordering the cake of the day helps to support local street dog, today it was an amazing vegan chocolate. When paying for the bill we thanked them for the great food and service, and the reply was so heartwarming, they said, in summary, that as long as the customers were happy they were happy 😊

Had a really good experience at Rainbow Café in Ella. We tried koththu and nachos for dinner and went back for lunch and had fried rice, everything was super flavorful, and the portion sizes were much bigger than we expected, especially for a place in Ella. The staff were genuinely kind and attentive, and the manager, Jason, made us feel really welcomed from the moment we arrived. They also cater to different dietary needs with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free choices, which was nice to see. The place has a cozy atmosphere, but it fills up quite fast. So going a bit early or booking ahead might be a good idea. Would definitely recommend stopping by.

I had a wonderful experience at this café. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, and the coffee was excellent. A special thank you to Sasindu, our waiter, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect during our visit. I also loved the fact that the proceeds from the cake of the day go to help local street dogs – such a thoughtful and meaningful initiative. Such a lovely hotspot for a healthy and delicious lunch! The menu offers a great variety of fresh, flavorful dishes that are both satisfying and beautifully presented. Everything we tried was absolutely delicious. On top of that, the place also has a really nice rooftop bar the perfect spot to relax with a drink after your meal. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. We would definitely love to come back, not only for the food but also to enjoy the rooftop vibes again!

We had a lovely experience at Rainbow Café. The breakfast, especially the eggs with vegetables were amazing! the added smashed avocado was also the most generous portion we've ever had. Amazing place! We were staying in Ella for 5 night and were eating in Rainbow everyday sometimes twice a day. We were excited to try Cafe One Love because of its strong social media presence, but it turned out to be the only bad dining experience of our 10-day trip across Sri Lanka. • Food safety issues: The fish in the fish-and-chips smelled rotten and was clearly off, we took a single bite and stopped for fear of food poisoning. Chicken nuggets were undercooked and pink inside. The devilled chicken was also undercooked, while the garlic bread came out burnt. • Poor handling of feedback: We ordered tacos after the waiter specifically promised a hard shell. He brought soft shells, and when we mentioned it, he simply took the food back and over-fried them until the tacos were dripping in oil. • Service attitude: When the four of us raised these concerns, the waiter ignored our points and arrogantly put the blame on us, even suggesting we had ordered too much and were complaining just to lower the bill. Every other restaurant we visited in Sri Lanka was hospitable and served excellent food. This cafe was the lone exception. The only impressive thing about Cafe One Love seems to be its marketing. Strong online buzz lured us here, but the reality was severely disappointing. If you value food safety and respectful service, give this place a miss.

🌟 The gluten-free pizza was absolutely amazing, and the quinoa salad was great too—just could’ve used a bit more quinoa 😄 Our first visit was a bit challenging because the waiter didn’t quite understand us, but the second time we had Kavi and Neela, who were the sweetest and most attentive servers ever. They understood us right away! If you have any sensitivities or special requests, I definitely recommend speaking with them. Overall, the owner is super friendly, and the place itself is beautiful with a fun, relaxed vibe. Highly recommended!

We had a great experience at Café One Love. Staff was super nice and the food was amazing, especially the turkish pizza which is one of the best pizza we ever ate. We came back the next day to eat it again! Brownie was also to die for. The restaurant in itself is very cute and cozy.

We went to Cafe One Love and really enjoyed it! The atmosphere is great, there is nice music but not too loud. There are a lot of seat possibilities, but it remains cozy and chill. The fried rice was excellent, fluffy, packed with shrimp and vegetables, served with a banana leaf crown and prawn crackers. Well seasoned, satisfying, and not greasy. The papaya seafood salad was refreshing, with sweet papaya, seafood, and crisp vegetables in a creamy dressing. Light but filling, and something a bit different. The king coconut drink looked fun, served in the shell with lemon on top and pieces of coconut sticking out. Cooling and refreshing, perfect for the heat. The mango juice was just as good, proper mango juice, thick and rich, not some watered down version. For dessert we had banana fritters, which were fantastic. Crispy on the outside, soft and sweet inside. Such a simple dessert, almost impossible to ruin, and they did it right. The only issue was that the staff forgot about our dessert and we had to remind them. The other downside was the flies. Too many of them buzzing around, which spoiled an otherwise great meal. Overall it was delicious food, playful presentation, excellent drinks and dessert, but the service slip and fly problem drag it down.

We had a wonderful experience at UFO Cafe in Ella! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxed meal. We tried the South Indian Biryani—not to be confused with Hyderabadi or Bombay biryani—which was flavorful and perfectly spiced. The Thai chicken soup and Caesar salad were tasty, though the portions are on the smaller side, so just be aware. Chanaka, the staff member, was very nice and made our visit even more enjoyable. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared, and we highly recommend stopping by when in Ella!

Extremely Disappointed – Never Visiting Again! I had one of the worst experiences at this place, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone – especially locals. Let me start with the customer service, which was absolutely terrible. The manager clearly has no idea how to talk to customers – very rude, arrogant, and completely unprofessional. You’d expect someone in that position to be trained in hospitality, but sadly, that’s not the case here. Even basic manners were missing. The staff are equally disrespectful. They act like they’re doing you a favor by simply responding to a question. No smile, no courtesy, and definitely no sense of service. If you ask something politely, they either ignore you or respond with attitude. I have never been treated this poorly in any public place. Now let’s talk about the security staff – unbelievably rude! They treat you like a criminal for simply being there. Instead of making you feel safe and welcome, they make you feel uncomfortable, unwanted, and disrespected. Who trained them? Another big issue – locals are not allowed to enter after 10:00 PM, even though the official closing time is 12:00 AM. Why advertise one thing and do another? We came all the way expecting to enjoy a late evening, only to be told “you can’t go in” by a rude security guard, for no valid reason. Total discrimination against locals. This place seriously needs better training for staff, especially management and security. If you want to run a business that welcomes people, start by learning basic respect and hospitality. Until that changes, I won’t be coming back – and I’ll make sure others know what to expect. Avoid this place if you value your dignity.

We had our lunch at the rooftop restaurant. I can give 10 out of 10 for the location. We ordered pizza, fried Cashewnuts and mix meat platter. We ordered the mix platter cost Rs 6,500 for two persons. But it enough for 4 persons. Worth for money. Cocktails also good. I highly recommend this place for both locals and foreigners.

We went here for dinner and tried their special Fisherman’s Pizza along with an ice-cold beer and lime drink. The pizza had a thin crust and the taste was superb. The atmosphere was calm and pleasant, and the service was top-notch. Overall, we had a great dining experience at night in Ella town.

Food is a hit and miss. We ordered 2 sandwiches - both lacking flavour and very oily. We also ordered a fish and chips which was fine - although not close to traditional, and a veg kottu which was good. The cafe also had a lot of flies and was difficult to enjoy our visit.

We went here for breakfast and the food was not good, especially based on the price. I had the yogurt and fruit with french toast. The fruit used appeared to be from a tin, with the syrup causing the yoghurt to be less thick and watery. The french toast did not have a good flavour. My partner got the omelette which has a fishy taste to it. Coffee was also not great. Overall we would not recommend.

Great place on the Road from the train station into town. Modest signs outside compared to other restaurants with 5 pushers to guide you in but this is a good thing. absolutely amazing food. After a few days of eating local food in more traditional spots, we were craving something more international like pizza or burgers. This place looked great and it did not disappoint at all! 🍕 The Neapolitan style wood-fired pizzas were delicious, so good that we came back the very next day. We also tried the crispy chicken burger and it was honestly the juiciest chicken we’ve had in the whole country. Usually it’s overcooked and dry, but here it was perfectly cooked and really tender. Service was super friendly and fast. Special thanks to our waiter Pradeep who looked after us both times. Definitely recommend!

We went to The Barn for dinner and got Chicken Parmesan and Chicken Pepperoni Pizza. Both were really good! The mocktails were also delicious. The place had a really fun vibe with amazing live singing; the singer had a beautiful voice! The staff were super helpful and courteous. We went back the following morning for some coffee and asked if they had any breakfast item with oatmeal for our baby. The server showed us muesli mentioned on the menu but it was a big portion so we requested if a baby-sized portion of plain oats could be made. Not only did the server get the oatmeal ready for our baby, he also refused to take the payment for it, saying that it was for the baby and we don’t need to pay! Such a sweet gesture by an amazing gentleman (we forgot to ask his name!). Hats off to the servers at this place. Will definitely recommend it to anyone staying in Ella. P.S. They serve halal chicken, which was a big plus for us!

We stopped here for a quick drink break and tried the Café Mocha and Frozen Strawberry Margarita. The mocha was good, similar to other cafés in Ella, but the margarita really stood out—refreshing and perfect for a sunny daytime drink. The staff were friendly and provided excellent service. The atmosphere is relaxed, though since it’s located by the roadside you may hear some vehicle noise. If you prefer a quieter spot, you can sit inside or on the rooftop (inside the cafe - covered space), which has a nice vibe. During the day, it’s less crowded and a great place to sit and spend time, while at night it becomes quite lively with more people. Overall, it’s a popular café worth visiting, and I’d love to come back next time I’m in Ella.

Came here the second time during my stay in Ella and tried the amazing Pizza - if you crave some in between western food, thats your place to go to. The staff is super fast, polite and attentive. We ate here several times during our stay in Ella. Everything ordered was outstanding, highly recommend if you are passing. The waffles with banana and butterscotch were amazing for breakfast or brunch! Great coffee too. The atmosphere was very chilled and the staff were exceptional. We even had a few beers one of the night when the had live music playing. Definitely worth a stop!!

The food was pretty good, and the prices were fair compared to many of the overpriced spots in Ella. We went to the upper floor, but the table and chairs were dusty. We had to point it out before they cleaned it, which seemed a bit lazy. The atmosphere was nothing special. Oh, and they only take cash—no card payments here.

Fish & Chips Restaurant and Rotti Hut offers tasty, well-seasoned chicken curry and friendly, attentive service. We appreciated that they prepared the mango juice fresh and without added sugar, exactly as requested. However, the noise level from the nearby main road was extremely high—reaching 95–100 decibels at times—due to constant traffic, making it difficult to enjoy a peaceful meal. The interior resonates with the sound, which could be overwhelming for some guests. Overall, the food is worth a try, but the dining experience would greatly improve in a quieter location.

We visited for dinner and had kottu and rotti. Enjoyed the food and it was reasonably priced. There were a few items on the drinks menu that were not available - very limited cocktails available. Has a similar name to another restaurant called 'Rotti hut' which makes it difficult to differentiate the two.

We ordered noodles and briyani. Food was pretty bland even after I requested it to be "srilankan" spicy. The briyani was just yellow rice with fried chicken which was pretty disappointing The restaurant was pretty dead and traffic noise was a bit overwhelming at times.

Best coconut roti and coconut sambol I’ve had in Sri Lanka! Delicious vegetarian options including yummy soups and smoothies. They are flexible on the menu and super kind people. Lovely place to spend some time playing chess (they have a board) and drinking coffee.

Great place for breakfast after a morning at the Nine Arches Bridge. The owner is very friendly and attentive. The food is prepared from scratch, so it would take a while. There is a cozy corner with a teepee rooftop, spot the friendly neighborhood cat!

Very nice little café on the way up the road out of Ella towards little Adam's peak. Two pots of tea and two pieces of cake approx 2500 rupees. A cute little sitting place upstairs to drink, relax, play chess and watch the world go by.

Saman was a great waiter who was very friendly and attentive. Happy hour arrack attack drinks delicious. Food was great, as vegetarians we enjoyed the egg fried rice in pineapple and the vegetable roti! Pizza was also tasty. Live music was nice in the background. Recommend for a dinner in Ella :)

We were served by a lovely gentleman Daniel. He was very helpful in everyway from the moment we walked into 360. He came regularly to check everything was good, food served was very quick and tasted lovely. He maintained our table to an exceptionally high standard. Great location in Ella on the main strip. Live music however proper pub singer! One of the busier spots on the strip. Food was pretty standard for a bar…ordered the steak sub and butter chicken. Bread and rice were very dry. Good selection of drinks tho. Service was ok nothing amazing tbh

Me and my husband had a lovely dinner with amazing love music. Our personal steward was Daniel was a great host, who invited us during a walk in town, and when we visited during dinner remembered us, and offered a great service, with pleasant conversation. Once he knew we were on our honeymoon, he also asked the band to play two of songs of our request. The food was amazing, best butter chicken I tasted! The pizza was also pretty good. And we loved the happy hour offer on cocktails. Definitely the place to enjoy a good dinner with great music, and impeccable service!

I celebrated there my birthday with my boyfriend. It was a very right choice. If you want a special evening with a high quality food, calm relaxing atmosphere and exceptional service- it’s definitely the right place to choose. We love it here and loved it so much we came back twice! Food is lovely and so is the service. Our server the second time daran was so lovely and friendly. Would recommend anyone in Ella to come here. Price is very good aswell as it’s just shy off Ella centre so it’s not city centre prices! Pizza is excellent as you can see we had pizza both times!

This restaurant has a great variety of foods. I went here several times and found all the dishes to be amazing. Our waiter Daran was very kind, we saw him several times during our visit to the restaurant, which was fun. I very much recommend the pasta, and the pizza because it’s made in a traditional stone oven.

AK Ristoro is one of the best cafes in Ella! The food is always fresh and full of flavour, and the atmosphere is beautiful and relaxed. Daran who was our waiter took good care of us and what I really appreciate is that they treat locals with the same warmth and respect as tourists — which is rare in Ella. The staff are friendly, the service is great, and it’s clear they care about quality and community. Highly recommend if you're looking for a spot that values both locals and visitors equally.

Went there our first night in Ella, it was highly recommended on many websites online. Nice food, we were really hungry (after a long train ride) so go the chance to try out several dishes. As starters we order the spring rolls, cheese toast and masala cashew nuts (those were the best, found myself adding them to everything). As for the mains we ordered chicken korma curry and shrimps and brocoli with oyster sauce. Both were served with steamed rice and portions were decent

I had a crab cake and ginger ale here. My travelling buddy had a blueberry tea. Reasonably priced food and drinks (expensive by Sri Lankan restaurant prices). Crab cake is a little too salty for my liking but coriander sauce goes well with it. Nice place to chill out with friends.

So let me start by saying... This place can easily raival some some of the nicest restaurants in London! Not only is the premesises built with taste, but also it has an amazing atmosphere. As for the food is by far the best food we had in Sri Lanka, worth every penny. Great food, great location great service!

The restaurant serves a truly exceptional curry, with a choice of meat, fish or prawns. Everything is cooked in an open kitchen before your very eyes. If you're into local food I can only recommend the place. Local tea-based nonalcoholic drinks were proposed on the menu as well as starters in portions big enough for 2 people. Our waiter Namal was super friendly and made sure we were having a good time, proposing to bring more rice or curry at will. Prices are definitely higher than the average Sri Lankan restaurant, expect 1200 Rs for a main dish and 600 Rs for a drink. Worth it if you want to enjoy a high quality culinary experience in Ella.

Do order the crab curry if it's available. I got 2 full big crabs with the most amazing curry sauce. It comes with rice, poppadoms, coconut sambal and dhal curry. Amazing!!!! You will not believe the price when the bill arrives.

Authentic and memorable experience! The food is made to order, so it can take a while, but it’s absolutely worth it: traditional, homemade and full of heart. I would describe it as having a meal cooked by your mother! Keep in mind that if you’re eating local, you’re eating spicy! A true gem.

so basically when I came to Ella I kind of got food poisoning because of all the mixture of foods and cultural food I’ve been having and I was really craving something normal and homely, and Chinese cuisine as well. Luckily, I discovered this restaurant. The owner is a really good person. He and his wife is on the business for 20 years and their food was literally the best. It gave me a lot of comfort and I finally felt like I was able to eat something that met my cravings.

We had the best curry here! The restaurant doesn’t look like much from the outside as it‘s not as fancy as some others on the main street. However, the cook, an elderly lady, really knows what she‘s doing. We were truly blown away by the flavors!!

We absolutely loved this little restaurant in Ella – we ended up coming back four times during our stay! I fell in love with the Egg and Potato Salad and ordered it every single time. Since I can’t tolerate onions, I took them out myself the first time. The second time, I asked for it without onions. On the third visit, I forgot to mention it – and they still brought it without onions. They remembered! Such kind and thoughtful women running the place, cooking everything fresh and with so much care. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is warm, and the service is incredibly friendly. Came on the morning after the Nine arch trek. Restaurant was empty. Service was fast and attentive. We got some drinks and left. It’s a bit overpriced but good quality. They have a sink to wash the hands which is nice. And the views are really really good. Would comeback.

Beautiful restaurant but small portions. We came here in the hope to have some good western food. We ordered 2 types of pasta and a beef burger. It was nice but there was just something missing. The pasta could have had more seasoning (pepper & salt) and it was very very saucy, not a lot of pasta. The beef burger was good, but the patty is quite thin and there was no sauce on the burger. Definitely one dish a person is not enough. Good food but not great food

Ate here twice in two days and would have come back if we stayed longer in Ella. They serve amazing Sri Lankan dishes and also a wide range of international food like burgers, wraps, pasta, pizza. The mushroom burger was so amazing my girlfriend ate it twice. When you walk by, it doesn't look too interesting, but the upper floor is an open wonderfully styled terrace in tree house style with nice view and lighting. All of the staff is very welcoming and the prices are also really nice for Ella levels! Thanks again.

We went there twice and always had the rice and curry. It varies but both variations were absolutely delicious, fresh herbs, interesting taste and as we requested not spicy. I have not tasted rice and curry like this in any other place. The juices and lassis we had were also amazing!

Absolutely recommended! We discovered Ella Spice Garden by chance, and it turned out to be an amazing find! Great atmosphere, a warm and family-like setting, a passionate and funny chef, and the perfect mix of hands-on cooking and learning — plus, of course, super delicious food full of amazing spices! We felt very comfortable and enjoyed the cooking experience from the very first moment. You can really feel how much passion the chef puts into this cooking class! 👌

It was my first time to experience for cooking class and I never regret it. Meeting diff nationalities sharing ideas. The host was very entertaining. He showed us to the garden ,and shared knowledge with the common spices of the locals using when they are cooking. The highlight of the activities,the time when we started to cook. It’s like we are in the cooking show. And I enjoyed it. Highly recommend this whenever you are visiting ella.

Our Sri Lankan cooking class began with a visit to the spice garden, which was incredibly informative — I loved learning about all the local spices and their uses. The class itself was fantastic: the environment was lovely, and we made eight delicious Sri Lankan vegetarian dishes from scratch. The chef was enthusiastic and really made the experience fun and engaging. At the end, we visited the on-site shop, which offers products far cheaper than anywhere else in town. Excellent value for money — highly recommend!

Cooking with Theeka was like cooking with a good friend. Despite the down pour, we were warmly welcomed and loved every minute of the experience. While we didn’t get to see the spice garden, everything was well explained and structured and Theeka’s good sense of humour and welcoming personality rounded up the whole cooking experience. All the dishes we cooked were super delicious with the highlights being the dhal, coconut sambol and garlic curry. Can’t recommend it highly enough. We were hungry after the train ride to Ella and dropped by to grab a bite and were stunned how cool the place was. We sayed at the terace with the amazing view. The food was awesome, and the atmosphere was great with the DJ mixing some very good tracks.

As a Local travel guide i wanted to keep one of my guest from Japan for few hours as her friends coming from the train were delayed. I asked from the staff can they keep her there safely they accepted her with warm heart. I really respect that. She is not a English speaker though she felt safe there. Really cool place. Great atmosphere. Cool interior with a chance to watch the local village boys play cricket and volleyball. What made the experience awesome was our service from Dilshan. Very friendly gentleman who made the effort to give us recommendations for Sri Lanka based on our current itinerary along with tips and tricks of getting around Sri Lanka. Perfect location close to the train station. Highly recommend a visit here and chat with the staff(apparently they have some dj nights too).

Suuuuuper cool place. Went early a little after opening time but they weren’t open. The manager (I believe) saw us trying to go in and opened up shop for us. Pricier than other places. Tomato soup, while large was grainy. The tandoori chicken wrap was DELICIOUS. and fries were good. The strawberry Carmel milkshake was not very cold /: they have the most adorable sweet dog. Good food but cheaper options in town.

This place has a BIG restaurant, but was ALWAYS quiet when we visited (a.m. & evening). Very cosy & romantic, but can be good for groups too. It is down the main, busy Ella road, but almost lost in darkness, because there are no other shops / restaurants here. The batter prawn starter was EXCELLENT & we ordered ginger tea here which was GOOD 2! The place has some lively music playing, but lacked a VIBE.

Cafe guru is quality restaurant in Ella which is very popular among everyone. It's built with great hippy decor and got a nice kick to this place. Its a partially open eatery with great food options. We were happy with service and food. Must visit in Ella.

Staff were really kind and quick to serve us. I ordered an avocado sandwich (no cheese) with fries which were really tasty and an easy vegan option. My partner didn't like his pizza at all and it was pretty bland (also veg with no cheese). The filter coffee wasn't great considering its marketed as a cafe. I ordered some water but never got it. Really nicely decorated and they had a cute and friendly doggo. Prices are about the same as most places locally that sell westernized food although maybe a little over priced for some things.

We had dinner at Rocky Ella Restaurant during our visit to Ella, and it was a wonderful experience! The crispy chicken special burger was absolutely amazing, so delicious! Prices are also quite reasonable. The interior, atmosphere, and music vibe were all very good, creating a nice place to relax and enjoy. We had the most delicious meal here! Real and authentic Sri Lankan curries with super fresh passion fruit juices. We were asked to choose the vegetables we’d like in the curries which was a nice touch. We chose aubergine, green bean, lentil dahl, okra for the curries and our meal was served with rice, popadoms and cucumber and coconut salad. Amazing food, we thought we were only ordering chicken curry and rice. We were then treated to a buffet of dishes to accompany the chicken. A very special evening at an affordable price. Freshly made before us. Forget the noise from Ella and come here. You won't be disappointed.

The menu should be renewed. Half of the dishes on the menu are with chicken but the server told us the restaurant is vegetarian and they wouldn't offer chicken. The dosas are alright but I had many better ones while being in Sri Lanka.

Came here for a quick bite to eat before the waterfalls and we definitely made the right choice! Really good price for the quantity and quality of the food! Would recommend the vegetable fried rice and the masala dosa. They also offer fresh fruit juice for good prices too, and the pineapple juice really hit the spot ⭐️ Loveliest server too very kind and generous ❤️

10 out of 10 dosas! We came here for dinner & came back for lunch the next day. Ask for the mango chutney, it is amazing!! The lady who works here is really lovely and helped us with dietary requirements. She advised that all of the dosas are made gluten free.

Stopped here for a small bite to eat, ordered dosa and they were delicious. One of the best I’ve had. Super friendly staff and so cheap for the quality of the food. Paid 1200r for meal and drink. Definitely visit if you can

We came here for dinner on our first night. Loved the dosa so much that we came back for lunch just the next day. The dosas are crispy and the sambar served with it is delicious! They are big, so we shared one between 2. The owners were also very friendly. For a good dosa, come here!

This is perfect for Tamil Nadu Cuisine. Usually getting right Indian food is very difficult in Ella. This Resto will fulfil that with great taste. We have gone couple of times both time they didn't disappointed us on the items - Veg Biryani, Chicken Fried Rice, Egg Kuttu Parota, Chicken Biryani, and Especially Chicken Curry with Rice. Chicken Curry is next level in taste especially with Pepper in it. Chicken was so tender. We have also ordered Paneer Dosa, Dosa was good but chutneys were not good. Overall super experience on Food Taste. They will prepare once we order, So prepare that food will be served late. Ambiance is typical porta shop in India not a luxury Resto.

Decent curd but otherwise avoid. Disgusting kitchen with unkept bathroom. Nobody was dining there. The people who were running it had no change and no idea what service is. Avoid!

Udara was very helpful and very nice waiter. Sri Lankan meal was delicious and an amazing fresh fruit cocktail pineapple banana!!

Quite a good place to have a drink or a bite. The food is tasty, although a bit more expensive than in other places due to its great location (in the center of a very touristic town). And the beer is only in bottle. The ambience inside is clean and warm, and the view from the terrace is great.

It's called Center point now! But we enjoyed it, went here twice over two days. Had dinner the first time and milkshakes/juices in the morning of the other. Dinner was great, we were served reasonably quickly and had well priced beer. The food arrived in reasonable time apart from a sandwich we ordered took an extra 10 minutes or so.. taste was good, and prices generally reasonable. Just dont forgot the 10% service applied to everything. Second time we had milkshake and juices, we were in a hurry so didn't have time to enjoy them but they were tasty regardless! Highly recommend.

Can't testify to the rest of the menu, but we came for the curd and it exceeded expectations

This is NOT the place listed in the Lonely Planet as the hole in the wall and must try place for curd and honey. It is a bit disappointing as the decor is bland and it is very dusty due to being so close to the main road. However, the food was good - we had chicken rotti and fruit curd. I disagree with previous reviews that the rotti was rubbery and the curd was delicious (and endearingly served in an ice cream sundae style!).

Wouldn't be my first stop in Ella. The food is ok, the vegetable roti was very spicy, the chocolate ones were greasy. There are almost definitely better places to eat. But the wierd bit came as we finished eating and we basically pushed out the restaurant. The server gave us the bill then stood over us waiting to pay. We were made to feel totally uncomfortable. An older guy started checking and rechecking the bill like there was an issue, we asked if there was a problem and they said not.
