The 48 best cheap eats in Viterbo

We visited the place yesterday. I had a previous experience last year from the restaurant. I can say it was much better last year. No English speakers or even if they do we were not invited to have one for our needs. The attitude of the owner was really bad. She was literally arrogant with us. And didn't try to help us with. Let's say the restaurant was good but only with locals.

Went a little before 730. Rude. Came back after they opened around 745. Was told I can’t be seated because completely booked. It’s now an hr later and not one person has gone into that restaurant. I’m a black American and I know the rude woman at the front has a nasty attitude as when I walked in again she said something and then went to the back and am older man came out telling me they were booked. It’s unfortunate but as I read these comments I was saved by her rudeness as it seems the food isn’t that good anyways.

Attended 5th January 2024 AVOID THIS PLACE. Staff are soo rude. Shame we had to give the service 1 star. The lady with the Blonde hair was chewing on bread most of the evening and the male front of house (maybe her son?) was too busy pretending he knew about red wine to the locals. Maybe he should concentrate more on the food he’s eventually serving. Food was v poor. Not hot and mostly tinned produce. Bread was stale beyond belief. Atmosphere was similar to a cremation, maybe that’s what happened to the food, certainly was the case with the starters. Such a shame as we have been to a number of other similar restaurants very close by and received wonderfully authentic food and excellent service. We have such great memories created in Viterbo, unfortunately this was also memorable for the wrong reasons. I wouldn’t go back here unless you paid me.

Charming, traditional, family run restaurant with authentic local dishes. We enjoyed our evening meal so much we returned with a friend a few nights later. Delicious food and wine in a cosy, intimate dining room. Excellent service. The very handsome son recommended we try the cherry tart, he was not wrong. One of the best deserts I’ve ever eaten, anywhere, especially when paired with a ( recommended) local desert wine. Viterbo serves up excellent food and this restaurant is one of Viterbo’s gems. Highly recommended.

I ordered linguine with ragu bianco & got chinese noodles instead. What's worse is this was the dish of the day. I was so disappointed I couldn't even finish eating. It tasted like instant noodles from the supermarket. Wouldn't recommend, there are way better places in Viterbo.

Amazing place! Very good food, wine and service. We had pizza etrusca (which was fantastic) , pizza cacio, pepe e pancetta, pizza limone (good option for vegetarians) and fettuccine Al limone e mentuccia di campo (very good pasta). Ice cream was just fantastic. 5euros portion was good for two people. Locals suggest this place, and so do I.

As for the food, there were some hits and some misses. The lamb rib chops were fine but nothing remarkable. Of the pastas we tried, the pesto with hazelnuts was our favorite, while the mushroom pasta was bland and under-salted. The calamari, however, was excellent- fresh, crispy, and elevated by crunchy zucchini and sweet potatoes. Dessert was underwhelming: the “mixed fruit” turned out to be just strawberries, and the tiramisu was cloyingly sweet. Nothing we ate was terrible, but overall the dishes leaned pretentious without delivering. Combined with the poor service, the restaurant simply didn’t live up to the hype or the glowing reviews.

First, the waitress couldn’t even open a bottle for us and asked us to do it ourselves. Each dish took about an hour to arrive. While waiting, there’s no WiFi, and the small table games they provide don’t help much to pass the time. When we asked for a pen, the waitress threw it on the table—extremely rude. The food was okay but far from what I expected from a celebrity recommendation. The pasta was soggy, and I can’t understand why it took an hour to cook. Were they starting from grinding wheat into flour to make the pasta from scratch? Just because a celebrity says it’s good doesn’t mean it actually is—especially if it’s recommended by Alessandro Borghese. I’d have my doubts before visiting again.

Cold starter took about 40 minutes to arrive. Another 50 minutes for mains which were only ok, mostly bones and gristle with the pork, skin wasn’t crispy and barely any potatoes. Asked for the bill multiple times, it never came. Same with the couple dining behind us. Eventually after 50 minutes we went up to the register to pay and the host was extremely rude. Similarly rude to the couple ahead of us. I rarely post google reviews but this was the poorest dining experience we’ve had in Italy.
