Really nice place, we came across this cafe/restaurant by accident, but it was a lucky one. They have a wide offer of breakfast, brunch and lunch options. Their avocado toast is massive, but was consumed in seconds by my girlfriend and the Korean Poke was soooo nice with plenty of veggies. Big thanks to them for personalizing my order by substituting pork with chicken. Their interior is so nice and relaxing.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for great coffee and amazing food in Hikkaduwa!

Staff were friendly and easy to get a seat inside or out. Cushioned seats and low tables outside and AC inside. When I went, they were having renovations done so there was a little bit of building noise. Coffee was nice but food was average for the price. Hippy, boho vibes and cute store next door.

Salty Swamis has got to be the best place we have found in our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka. Since discovering it, have been back each day. Great atmosphere and staff and the food and drinks are SO good! Loved the fish tacos and today had the Korean rice bowl and Brisket sandwich. The smoothies are yum! Also, added bonus is a really cool bathroom.

one of the best cafe in arugam bay. had breakfast burritto, schnitz sandwich & iced matcha with oat latte. the food were so delicious aswell as the matcha plus a relaxing atmosphere that makes you slow down, soak in and appreciate life. would recommend!

Definitely the best brunch in Hikkaduwa! We got the breakfast burrito and the teriyaki chicken. Both were extremely tasty and generous portion size also. Followed up with some local coffee and a cinnamon bun we really enjoyed our meal here. Slightly more expensive than other places in the area but worth it!

The coffee was excellent, and the owner was really friendly. The environment was cozy and welcoming. We tried the banana porridge, and it was tasty. Definitely worth it!

amazing cappuchino from a very friendly owner. I enjoyed going there often. always had one or two cappuchinos and an omlett. however, outside seating is just by the main road which is not really relaxing. long atory short; the coffee is amazing, omletts are good.

Great spinach omlette with Butter toast for a great breakfast. Also amazing homemade cakes with a good Ceylon Black tea as a Snack or at tea time!! 🥥🍌 Close to beach, u can watch and try surfing. 🏄🏼☕️🫖🍽

Hard to believe that we found this place on our last day in Sri Lanka. It was definitely the best cup of coffee. We’ve had the entire trip. Highly recommend it.

This is a pretty basic coffee shop you can visit. We tried two burgers and only positive thing about that was the price. Taste was so bad and it was obvious that the oil used for frying french fries were pre used oil. So the taste was not that good. Definitely not going back..

Chami is simply the best host you could wish for. From exception on the menu to flexibility on every aspect to accommodate our needs. Anything you need this place have you covered. Help to find the cheapest taxi price, menu variations, three house mood and chill vibes with excellent ambiance is what you can find here at chami’s. Enjoy your experience in Hikkaduwa staying here! I would add that this place is a paradise for smokers of any kind too 🌿 ;)

What a gem in Hikkaduwa. The food was spectacular. Had fish the first night and was extraordinary. The second night had the lagoon crab and the salad was fantastic as well. So good. Kind staff and it is very reasonable ✨🙏✨

Beware of scammers. I booked a room with a private bathroom for a week through Booking and paid in advance. When I arrived, they gave me a dirty room with dampness, wood smells, and mold, with a shared bathroom in poor condition. When I told them that this was not my reservation, the owner shouted, “You pay what you deserve. If you don’t like the room, go somewhere else.” He refused to cancel the reservation. I have never seen such rude treatment. Finally, the sockets did not work, so I had to charge my phone in the restaurant.

Great guest house and restaurant just set back slightly from the main strip of Hikkaduwa. Spent many evenings eating at Chami’s whilst in Hikka, he’s an amazing guy, who’s helped us out a lot with tours & accommodation. He’s food is great & the beer is cheapest I’ve seen in Hikka 🤣

We discovered this lovely spot while staying in Hikkaduwa!! What a hidden gem! The food was absolutely delicious, with generous portions and freshly prepared meals👌🏻. The service was excellent too!! A big shoutout to Chami and the rest of the team for making us feel so welcome. Highly recommended!

I must say.. possibly the best curries we've had in Sri Lanka so far. Tucked away up a little street means the prices aren't as extortionate as those on the strip. Great jungle feeling open air restaurant. We got the vegetable curry and coconut mango prawn curry and the portions were pretty huge. Mojito could have been a bit better but also I'm not sure the family drink alcohol so can't complain. They also had some good tunes on the local radio 😋 Highly recommend 🙏🏻

Came for the reasonable rate of the rooms, but the real treasure is Chami and his staff. Chami will help you make your stay in Sri Lanka better, not just his own place, the whole country if he can help it! Besides that the food and drinks were good and the rooms and facilities well maintained. Definitely the best place for those on a budget. Want more luxury, Chami also owns/runs Hikka Green.

I visited this beachside cafe briefly this lunchtime. I had a mango milkshake and smoothie bowl. The music was so loud, you could hardly hear yourself think. Twice I turned it down myself and staff were not impressed that I did that! The narrow entrance and beachside view is pleasant. The shake was nice, smoothie bowl which was mango, avocado and muesli was bland.

Very tasty food, great flavour to the chicken and a good price. Perfect spot to watch the sunset. Very friendly and chatty staff. Would definitely recommend visiting this beach cafe.

Close to Turtle beach this cafe is cozy cool. With a charming and helpful staff and owner. The water is inviting and you can shower right on the Bach at the Vibe. Fantastic coffee smoothie and fruit drinks. It's a hangout for sure

This is by far the best bar/cafe in town. It's our second visit to Hikkaduwa and Chama and his team made it special. Great fresh food, coffee and sunsets! The freshest avocado smoothie ever and the best burger with handmade chips. These guys will do anything for you, just ask. We also had a great tour with Chama to Yala safari and Ella, he knows his stuff!

The food here is delicious and full of flavor. Prices are on the higher side, though they may seem more reasonable for foreign visitors. Overall, a great spot to enjoy a tasty meal. Also need to mention friendly service.

Great cafe by the beach !!!! Open all year around with excellent service.The name of cafe " Ocean Vibe " really describe the place,yes it has great coastal atmosphere.. Excellent coffee, cocktails,fresh seasonal tropical fruits , fresh seasonal avacado ,brunch , fresh sea food, Great presentation of food with friendly staff..If you are looking for sunset beer ,coffee then think no twice just pop in..Stunning view.The lounge area is great ..The owner Chamara is doing great job and show how dedicated towards hospitality field ..Highly recommended !!!

Ah mann this place is just the best in the morning. First place to have some nice jazz playing with my delicious cup of coffee, a breeze and a beautiful view of the turtle Beach. Kept coming back every morning! And of course the friendly guys working here!

Super funky cafe/restaurant. Chill house music vibes with a very cool aesthetic. Ocean views from the to level. We got the chicken curry and chicken tandoori kottu. The curry had a bit to many spices in it for me but my husband loved it and the kottu was delicious and a huge serving. The coconut pineapple daiquiri & spicy passion fruit margarita were the best cocktails we have had in Sri Lanka so far and we have been here nearly 2wks. Plus they were huge. Definitely recommend popping in to check out the place. Plenty of people watching to be done from the to floor too, as it looks over the just main road onto the main Hikkaduwa Beach. Service was great and very modestly priced. Esp the cocktails.

This is THE place to be in hikkaduwa!! Always playing great music, the best vibes, delicious food & drinks and the staff are the best! SaltyBeer offers delicious options that give you a Sri Lankan dish with a western twist - absolutely delicious and creative dishes & cocktails. The coffee is delicious too & they have dairy-free milk 😍 big shout out to Iresh for always being so kind & helpful when I can’t decide what to have!! My favourites are - the spicy passion fruit margarita😍, the veggie nirvana (which you just have to try- it’s insanely delicious, my body thanked me for eating so much fresh veggies in such a delicious combination). This is somewhere you could very happily spend a good few hours - working or just relaxing/reading and soaking up the great vibes this place has.

We visited this restaurant for both lunch and dinner. Initially, it was our first meal in Hikkaduwa, and after reading the reviews, we decided to try it out. Although we thought about exploring other places, we were really satisfied with the taste, service, and ambiance here. This place is a gem! The location is great, and the food did not disappoint at all. Unlike other restaurants that add a 10% service charge, this one offers excellent service and delicious food without that charge. It’s truly value for money. We have two more days in Hikkaduwa, and we will definitely come back!

Salty beer quickly became a staple during my 5-day stay in Hikkaduwa. I came here for both breakfasts and dinners. The pineapple and fish curries were just fabulous, and the muesli bowl and avocado toast were also show-stoppers. As a bonus, the cocktail menu is extensive; my friends passed our drinks in a circle so we could taste them all, and they were all delicious. The dishes are served beautifully with garnish. Definitely check this place out!

Best place to dine in Hikkaduwa! Food is unique and simply tasty. Music is perfect and not too loud, overall atmosphere is well thought. Finally, staff super friendly and professional.

Good choice of food but didn’t like gnocchi - too Indian way of Italian dish… over spiced with curry. Seafood wrap was good. I asked for Nutella pancakes but I got crepes. Not much Nutella inside. Unfortunately no tea, coffee or smoothie after 16:30 which is strange. Tea - is just a hot water in the end of the day with teabag… disappointing Although waiter upstairs was friendly.

BEST COFFEE IN TOWN. Bowls bursts with flavour and freshness. Highly recommend the Avo&Toast. Iresh was our friendly waiter. Great atmosphere all around.

Excellent spot. Came back 3x in 2 days. Their smoothie bowls are delicious and the people running the spot are super nice and friendly. Perfect to spend half a day. It’s much less crowded and way more enjoyable than the main stretch of Hikkaduwa.

Love this place! It has a real island vibe. Slow and chill and nice music which is not too loud and blends perfectly with the sound of the waves… not much people as it’s off the main tourist spots 🏝️

We were just passingby and decided to check their coffee, in the end because of the super chill atmosphere we stayed almost whole day. Coffee is good, served in a french press served with coconut or fresh milk. Make sure to try poke bowl with prawns, burger with beef is also tasty. Personally I prefer more chill places like Coconut Club than crowded and loud hikkaduwa bars.

The place is incredible, with fantastic views and comfy places to relax. However, the breakfast was not what we expected. The avocado toast seemed like a paté avocado and it took them 1h to serve. (Not a full place). The breakfast sandwich was alright, but took 30 minutes or more to be served. We also ordered a smoothie bowl… which we canceled after not coming for more than 1h. You can only pay in cash! This is the pure sri lankan timing… come with a book and relaxed. 😊

We went here for a breakfast, which was ok, but definitely overpriced. It was more expensive than some similar cafes in Mirissa and the quality wasn’t the same. We had a Western Breakfast and a Smoothie Bowl and waited for the food for almost 40 minutes even though we were the only ones there. I think you can find better spots in Hikkaduwa…

Amazing place, great food, shisha, coffee service. Very clean kitchen.. and reasonably priced! We had shrimp pasta, tuna, fondant.. all were great.. definitely coming back

The place is so amazing, u can enjoy your delicious food and watching the people surfing, i try the mango passion fruit smoothie and bruschetta it’s was so yummy, highly recommended, and sure i will visit the place again to try another meals. I would like to thanks Sanjo he was so friendly and he recommend me to try the smoothie.

Incredible place to have a coffee and a cocktail!) the tartar was also marvellous. The hosts and owners are lovely people, ready to help you with everything! The stuff is very polite and truly nice. You can understand here why to pay a service fee) yes, the prices are for foreigners who want to spend a lovely time at the beach) do not expect to get rice and curry for 300 rupees. )) I wish the place to develop and get luck in business!)

Another sunset in Hikkadua, so yet another restaurant to eat in. I take my seat at the front of the restaurant so I can have the perfect panoramic view. It’s a little after 5 pm so I have a good ninety mins before dusk. The restaurant is only half full at present but will soon be busy when the sun says goodnight. There’s no bottled water at the bar! So I order a sprite and a black coffee for my friend. People use the restaurant as a walkway as the waves now crash against the building making it dramatic. I order the chicken in pasta. It arrived approximately ten minutes later. The meal was served with a knife and fork! I had to ask for grated cheese and black pepper. I had a salt and pepper shaker brought to me. The serving was penne pasta, mushroom & cream sauce. It was quite bland and a child’s portion, no garnish. The meal was below par and the service was the usual standard I’ve come to expect by now. No need to return.

I was Oder seafood salad and I never ever have seafood salad with super tiny pieces of seafood maybe have to eat carefully to feel the sea food in my mouth 🤣 price a bit over compare to quality.

Passing through the south coast we stayed two nights in Hikkaduwa and we're so glad we chose Sapphire Blue. Easy parking in their backyard, direct access to the beach to see the flood and tide coming in.

We ate here a couple of times whilst in Hikkaduwa, the atmosphere is chilled with swings, right on the beach so great for sunset with good music. The food was excellent & reasonably priced, I'd recommend the veg curry (so good!) & the vegan burger.

My son and I spent 3 nights at Sapphire Blue and had the most amazing time. Dinesh and his staff were excellent and the food was amazing. The location is fantastic, right on the beach and the hammock and swings were a lovely addition to the ambience.

I was hiding from the rain and it's the first place I walked into on the beach. And I had a most amazing time ! The staff is friendly and sweet, the food is really good, the beers are crispy cold fo a good price, and you can enjoy the most beautiful ocean view unbothered by any passer-by's. I got the "Mexico" tortilla bowl and omg. Black beans with rice perfectly cooked and served on a home cooked tortilla bowl with salsa, guacamole and yoghurt on the side. I was enjoying the evening so much, forgot it stopped raining. Too bad i have to leave now.... But I am so coming back here next time !

We dined in this beach restaurant several times during our stay in Hikkaduwa. We all thought that this was the best food we had, had whilst in the area and up there with someof the best meals during our 5 week trip,( and I don't give comments like that easily). The chef ' Diness' trained in the UK, and uses his skills to create some fabulous tastes. Heritage combined with a total passion for the ingredients he puts into his food. Good prices for high quality, freshly made food. Location is beach front and they play a fabulous range of music. A lovely place to relax, swing, on the many swings or lay on the hammock. Don't miss it highly recommended 👌

Fantastic breakfast with an unbelievable view, provided by the loveliest staff! We visited in the off season so had the pleasure of having the place to ourselves, so we got the best seats in the house! The beach was at our feet and we even saw a turtle swimming from where we were sat eating! The owner Chami was very kind in helping us organise our transfer to the airport from the restaurant at a reasonable price, and our waiter Hashen was attentive and lovely to chat to! All staff were very kind and made our last meal in Hikkaduwa enjoyable and comfortable! If we had stayed longer in Hikkaduwa we would have revisited many times!

The prawn curry is excellent. Be sure to try chicken and cheese kottu, exceptional. These guys are open early 7:30am and the food kicks on nice and fresh. It’s a great place. We ate here many times and enjoyed every time 😀

One of the most beautiful ocean views I've seen. The restaurant is affordable, serves very delicious food and has vegetarian options. Stuff is friendly and helpful to meet the guests requirements. We've been eating here often since it's best place to enjoy sunset. Vegetarian tacos are extremely delicious

We looooved this place!😍ended up coming back three days in a row - the best views of the sunset/ocean, delicious food and great staff. The kotthu and burgers along with other meals are all 10/10 and we were sad to say goodbye on our final night!

Love this place! Set right on the beachfront facing west for ideal sunsets. Next to turtle beach with frequent sights. Snorkeling and diving. The have great coffee and good WiFi. Fresh mahi mahi with chips and salad was amazing! Friendly staff, and the place has a naturally ocean breeze coming through

The decor of the cafe is lovely and the iced oat milk latte I ordered was nice however very small especially for the high price. I asked whether I could order just eggs with toast to which they said no but I could have the avocado and eggs with toast - I asked if I could just not have avocado which they refused. If they were busy or if this was a complex amendment to the menu I would understand but I was the only customer in there the whole time I drank my coffee. I asked to use the toilet but the seat was covered in piss and filthy - bearing in mind there are no customers in the place I can only assume the staff have been using the toilet and not cleaning up behind themselves.

Calm and cozy space. Tables are big enough, so you can even take your laptop and do some creative stuff, while drinking your oat latte. Strongly recommend v60, it's good, not decent, not breathtaking, but very very good. Local lads are very welcome in here and will make your experience even more pleasent. Breakfasts, coffee, even lunch. Jumbo prawns deserve michelin star for this place.

That place is a joke. I asked for an basic omelet, the waiter was like « oh no, only from the menu we are too busy » (literally, only 2 couples here). I told him how easy and quick it is to make an omelet, he didn’t want. So I ask for pouch eggs from the menu. I literally got those 2 sad pouch eggs for breakfast, no salad, no salt, no pepper, no toast. Just 2 eggs, lol. I asked for extra toast, he said « oh no, just from the menu », what is that service. And the size of the latter is the smallest I’ve seen.

Excellent! One of the best breakfasts I've ever had in my entire life, a must-visit place when you're in Hikladuwa, I had savory dish and something sweet, both were delicious! I worked there half day on my laptop, young staff was very nice, employee immediately gave me wifi password without me asking and showed me a place with contact to plug my laptop!

We love the food and coffee here but the wait is ridiculous. Came for breakfast and waited over an hour for avocado toast. There was at least 30 mins between the arrival of the first and last meal. By the time all our food arrived, it was almost lunch time. Avocado toast would be better if the bread was toasted.

Regret that we did find this place on our last day. The coffe was so good, the barista know his stuff. 10/10 for the coffe. We had club sandwich, watermelon juice, egg benedicte, banana bread and fruit plate. Everything was good! We met the owner the day before, and he took the time to tell us alot about the local history of Sri Lanka which was very interesting!

We ordered english breakfast. Did not come with bacon and also no beans as described. He could at least told us before serving that those things are missing... just placed the plate with no words about the missing things. When we asked he said they are out of it... Service charge 10% on top... bread, sausages and tomatos were nice....

Food was exceptional! Avocado with poached eggs was great and our shakshuka was delicious. The juices were lovely too. Really fresh!

During my recent short trip to Sri Lanka, I revisited one of my favorite beaches, Hikkaduwa. It was my first time back in Hikka since the pandemic, and while the surroundings had changed slightly, the familiar vibe from 20 years ago was still alive, thanks to the wonderful company of friends who live nearby. I stopped by Bohoma cafe for a quick bite and ordered a beef burger, which was incredibly juicy—it reminded me of the burgers I’ve had in Europe! The potatoes were equally delicious. To top it off, the coffee was a perfect blend of Sri Lankan and European flavors, satisfying my coffee cravings completely. If you’re visiting Hikkaduwa from Europe, I highly recommend this cafe for a taste of home with a local twist!

Came here for a quick snack and had a delicious avocado toast with egg (2000) and an iced tea (500). It’s a great location and the service was absolutely wonderful! Definitely recommend!

This café is on a busy main road, which doesn’t make for the most relaxing atmosphere. The food and coffee are average at best—especially the avocado toast, which could use a lot more avocado. Prices are on the expensive side, and for the same cost, you can find places with much better food and a more pleasant location.

I Really recommend this place to visit in hikkaduwa. Coffee taste and avocado toast was very delicious 🤤and the service vere nice!

We visited Hikkaduwa and decided to have burgers in Buddies. What we got was curmet burgers with all home made, including fries. The patty was super and all vegetables so fresh. Same sort of coleslow salad in side was very good too. Place is very clean an staff also very nice and polite.
