The Great House Hotel offers stylish and uniquely designed rooms, along with a high-end restaurant serving modern Welsh dishes. The hotel boasts a mature and warm atmosphere characterized by historic original features such as flagstone floors, oak beams, inglenook fireplaces, mullioned windows, stone archways, and a dovecote in the south wall. While the bottomless brunch is currently unavailable due to the pandemic, guests can still enjoy lovely rooms with "rainfall" showers and excellent service.

Aroma Cafe Bridgend is a delightful spot that truly captures the essence of a cozy gathering place. I recently visited with friends, and it quickly became clear why one of them has been raving about it! The spacious layout and inviting atmosphere make it an ideal location for catching up over freshly brewed coffee or tea. Their poached eggs are perfectly cooked, showcasing the kitchen's skill, while the selection of cakes offers something sweet for those looking for a light snack.
My partner and I popped in for the opening night of the new evening dining menu. Sublime service and fantastic main courses. I’d highly recommend the sirloin (pictured), beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. We’ll definitely be back to try the Sunday Dinner and to sample the rest of the menu soon. What a brilliant new edition to the town centre, please do yourselves a favour give this gem a go!

A very spacious and comfortable cafe with friendly staff. It's not easy to serve properly cooked poached eggs but they do here; mine were delicious! A good choice of freshly brewed coffee and teas with a fab selection of cakes are available if you just want a light bite. There's a large outdoor area to the rear, perfect for hot sunny days and a few tables outside the front. Overall, I thoroughly recommend you call in when you're passing.

The evening menu is spectacular, they make everything from scratch and it is authentic. Love it overall

Fantastic cafe/restaurant, the burger i had was delicious, worth waiting for. Lovely surroundings, great decor. The staff are very friendly and attentive, the coffee selection is great too.

My favourite cafe in Bridgend. Always clean, friendly, amazing service and great food and drink. I pray they alway stay open.

I visited today between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM to catch up with some friends. One of them has been raving about this place for a while, saying it’s her favorite café—and now I totally see why! It might just be my new favorite too. The café has so much character, with a warm, welcoming atmosphere and cozy lighting that makes you want to stay awhile. The staff were super friendly and well-presented, which added to the overall great vibe. I ordered a strawberry milkshake and a breakfast, and wow—the breakfast was huge and absolutely delicious! The milkshake definitely hit the spot too. Well done to the whole team for delivering such great service. I’ll definitely be back!

Tried most of the Sunday evening dishes. Everything was spectacular, the service was amazing and staff is very friendly. The desserts are also incredible!! I will be coming back for sure

McDonald's, a well-known and enduring fast-food franchise recognized for its hamburgers and French fries, appears to have increased the prices of their meals since my last visit. Nevertheless, this particular location has consistently stood out as one of my favorites due to their reliable availability of milkshakes, something that other branches often lack. Unfortunately, on this occasion, the fries were disappointingly lukewarm and flaccid while the burger was dry and overloaded with somewhat slimy lettuce.
Visited today (a wet bank holiday) and the service was fantastic. We arrived at peak time with a hungry 4 year old and couldn't believe how quickly we were served! All the meals were fresh and correct.Well done.
Casey H — Google review
It was very quiet, only one car in front in the drive thru but we were given drinks and told to park up. Nearly 10 minutes later the food arrived at slow walking pace. Not very warm and poor quality with no apology for the wait.
Bill J — Google review
Every time you go through the drive through. Your asked to park up. No cars behind you. Not necessarily busy. Waits very depending on how busy it is. It could be out in 2 minutes. I have gone back in after 20 minutes and cancelled my order. Pencoed is run badly. And their system doesn’t work.
John G — Google review
If you’re looking for a quick and convenient stop on your journey from West Wales to London, the McDonald’s at Pencoed Business Park does the job. It’s well-located, making it an easy choice if you need a break and a bite to eat while heading east. The place was clean, which is always reassuring when grabbing fast food on the go. Despite being a busy spot—especially at peak times—things seemed to run smoothly, with staff keeping up with the constant flow of customers. Food-wise, it was standard McDonald’s fare—nothing outstanding, but nothing wrong with it either. My meal was fresh enough, served promptly, and hit the spot for a quick, familiar bite. One thing to keep in mind is the busyness of the location. If you're in a rush, you might need to factor in a wait, especially during meal times. But overall, it’s a reliable stop for anyone needing food, a stretch of the legs, or just a moment to reset before carrying on with the journey.
Anthony ( — Google review
Big mac was way too loaded with lettuce and the burgers get smaller with every visit but it was hot and fresh. Fries were cold. This Maccies is in need of a good clean then tables were sticky and needed cleaning down
Stacy R — Google review
Food all over kitchen floor. Food took 20 mins even at 2.40 in the morning. Food not done right, changed it and removed stuff and they didn't even read it. Just slapped a sticker on the standard item. Definitely a Food hygiene concern here.
Adam B — Google review
It's not obvious how to get into the car park if you're new to the area. Standard Macdonalds, no surprises handy for M5. And no toilets in the adjoining petrol filling station.

Costa Coffee is a delightful counter-service coffee chain that serves an array of hot beverages, refreshing iced coolers, sweet treats, and satisfying sandwiches. During my unexpected visit to one of their locations in Bridgend, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm and welcoming atmosphere created by the staff. They were not only efficient but also genuinely friendly, making my experience truly enjoyable. I indulged in a lovely hot chocolate paired with a delicious millionaire shortbread—definitely one of my guilty pleasures!
I did not plan a visit here but glad I did. The staff were so friendly, efficient and a pleasure to talk to I would definitely recommend and treat myself here again. Thank you for an uplifting experience lovely hot chocolate, delicous millionaire shortbread one of my weaknesses and friendly happy staff thank you for brightening my visit to Bridgend and reminding me of how a paying customer should feel as Arnie would say I will be back! 🙂
Sam N — Google review
The staff at Costa's are friendly and hard working. I regularly go to the Caroline Street shop with a group of friends and always get great service. However, there are some serious issues with this establishment caused by the franchisee not being willing to spend any money on its upkeep. Ripped furniture, broken toilets and poor wi-fi are letting the place down. In addition, equipment that staff need to do their job is often breaking down including the app reader. During my last visit they'd run out of coffee at about 3pm. Apparently, the area manager for Costa is incapable of negotiating for improvements with the franchisee who has other Costa shops in a similar state of disrepair. People visiting a Costa coffee shop for the first time will be leaving this one with a negative impression of Costa as a brand. It is only the brilliant staff and great location that makes this Costa worth visiting.

Lovely Costa, helpful and friendly staff. Usual great quality food and drinks. Seating area clean and tidy, plenty of seats available

I visited costa coffee at Caroline St Bridgend today, what I experienced was not good, there were tables which had not been cleared, other tables had drink tipped on them and the whole shop was dirty and uncared for. I quickly decided to turn around and leave the shop which in my opinion was a Health & Safety problem. Needless to say I will not be returning to this shop again unless they up their game 100 percent. Costa get you act together.

Gareth W — Google review
Full breakfast and a pot of tea, staff were friendly and responsive, food was quick and tasty. One of a few places that still offer fried bread as an option.
Gemma A — Google review
The owner has put a lot of effort into a visually nice space, but has neglected the acoustics of a much larger space than the original cafe. The kitchen is more exposed, so you get the kitchen clatter ringing in your ears, there are far more free standing chairs than the original cafe, which coupled with the larger space, you get chair shuffling sounds all the time. Additionally, the sound system is playing music to such a level, that you can only presume they are trying to drown out the former 2 noise sources. The "cafe" has morfed into a place that would better serve as a chinsy wine bar. It's just too damn loud. Bring back the original cafe. On a plus note, the food is as good as ever.
Si T — Google review
Been here 3 or 4 times for coffee over the past month. First time for food today. Only a bacon sandwich but the best I've had in ages. Asked the girls on the till to pass on my congrats to the kitchen staff. Kayleigh, I think was her name, said she would, and perhaps I'd leave a review, so here it is. 👍

Appalling customer service. I bought a stacked steamer for the cooker. I've used it 6 times. The base has split under the handles. I'm a 70 year old cook. I do not abuse equipment. I had bought my son the largest size for cooking Christmas dinner.. He was very happy with it so we decided to buy a new set and very sadly, discarded the old ones. Big mistake. At least they were fit for purpose. I returned the faulty ones today..you got a receipt...no ,I bought it in January. We can't replace electric items without a receipt. It's not electrical,it goes on the stove. Well we can't change it without a receipt. Its current stock! We'll fetch a bank statement to prove you shopped in Asda.....the store that's "happy to help" as it's motto Not fit for purpose, certainly wasn't durable and the staff......

The cafe 😒 went for the kids £1 meal.. the only choice we had was sausage and chips or half jacket potato with beans it was onky 1pm so early afternoon... so we went for the sausage and chips... well the chips had been cooked to an inch of their life and they were dry ( cooked and kept under a heat lamp) asked for ketchup... they didn't have any and then they didn't have any clean forks.. had to wait for them to clean some ... daughter didn't eat it. I get that its only £1 but at least make it edible 😒 Best cafe to go to is Asda in Pyle ( Outside Bridgend town ) Unfortunately won't be going back there for food....
Leighanne C — Google review
Good store, stock can sometimes be a bit erratic on a number of occasions not having what I have popped in for. Staff very friendly, large self checkout area, there is normally not to much of a queue for tils. Parking is ample. One pet hate is sometimes getting stopped by forceful charity workers on entry or leaving, really puts me off, perhaps they could be less intrusive.
Bill J — Google review
lovely place to do your shopping, cafe is absolute crap. asked for a fountain drink, every flavour gone and nothing in the fridges. food was even worse, asked for a regular fries, came out with a undercooked sausage bap. asked for ketchup and they gave me sugar packets??? also took forever the man serving us said hang on one moment and carried on talking to his mate!!!! never coming again
Ava D — Google review
No ketchup available, yet an entire supermarket sits below it. Forgot the peas and side salad. Soda fountain was more flat than Queen Elizabeths heart rate.
Tom P — Google review
No one came to give me my click and collect George parcel, after waiting nearly 24 minutes I left store without parcel..My account now shows collected, abd Cystoner Service has refused me a refund..So no parcel and no refund..
Rebecca J — Google review
I popped to the cafe with my daughter for a coffee and a bite to eat prior to shopping. I asked for a bacon roll....not available So I selected a ham and cheese toasty....not available. The third choice I was given was a fancier selection. No problem I thought as I was pointed to go to a particular fridge.....nothing in there. Twice I was directed to go there until finally the young man came there to check and promptly said there was nothing left. This was at 10.30 a.m. I had a prepacked carrot cake - the other option was a tiny doughnut. I ordered my coffee as another young man came to the til with a sign saying no electricity. Well it didn't really matter as there was no food to cook. Then he was told by the man with the sign that he could make customers toast. I found that a bit strange as the last time I used a toaster it needed electricity! The place wasn't particularly clean with 1 large spoon left to stir our coffee with. The young man said he had to go wash some cutlery. I could go on........needless to say I won't be going back there.

Crumbs Baguette Shop is a delightful gem that should not be overlooked when you're in the area. This cozy eatery offers an impressive breakfast menu, including a massive 'Beast' breakfast for those with hearty appetites. The friendly and efficient staff ensure that your dining experience is top-notch, making you feel right at home. While seating is limited and reservations are recommended, the quality of food makes it worth the visit.
Not wheelchair accessible too many steps but food is well worth getting someone to run in for myself! Been there ages still Lush! My go go is this steak cheese mushroom onion peppercorn sauce. CANT beat it.

I have been living in the local area for some time and have never used crumbs, yesterday myself and some friends made a visit to the shop we ate breakfast which was absolutely superb staff couldn’t do enough for you. Really was very happy with the quality of food and service. Will definitely be back. Thank you.
Darren J — Google review
Absolutely fantastic large breakfast for £6. The quality was fantastic and the service was very friendly and quick. They also do a 'Beast' breakfast for £10 but you really do need to ho on an empty stomach for that! Seating is limited and can be reserved before attending so do not expect seating if you just turn up. This is a small premises on the main street with limited parking and seating but not a local business to miss if your in the area. They do takeaway as well as dine in only when tables are available. I highly recommend this local business.
Dario R — Google review
Food was good and came quickly but staff quite rude. When I mentioned I had a dietary requirement the server rolled their eyes and was unhelpful. Such a shame because when you are met with that kind of response it sours the whole place.

With its inviting upstairs seating area, Il Panino surprises many with its spaciousness. Really Fancied a panini this morning. Headed down here and had the chorizo chicken and cheese panini. Was absolutely lush. Josh and his staff are very friendly and accommodating. Lovely hot chocolate too. Lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by. Well worth a visit

I ordered an Italian salad with burrata and "olive oil" on the side. The so-called olive oil was most likely the worst quality frying oil. I appreciated the fact that one of the employees came to prove to me that they did indeed have olive oil, but the colleague got the oil mixed up. All in all the food is good and so is the coffee.

I come here most Saturdays when out walking dogs and I welcomed in to purchase a coffee and they always bring my coffee out on a tray and a bowl of water for the dogs . Such friendly staff and no judgement made towards my 3 dogs . I look forward to my pit stop 🥰

Tesco Cafe has become a cherished spot for many, especially for families navigating the whirlwind of life with little ones. After swimming lessons, parents often find solace in this welcoming haven where Liz and Rhian greet them with warm smiles and delicious offerings like breakfast muffins, hash brown bites, and essential coffee. The cafe is perfect for a post-shopping brunch too; patrons can enjoy simple yet satisfying meals such as poached eggs on toast or crispy waffles drizzled with maple syrup.
Stunning food. The offer of fried bread is very welcome. Value for money.

I have ordered, "THE BIG BREAKFAST" I don't know what's big about the breakfast is ? You get two tiny sausages, spoon of beans, one toast without butter, one egg, one bacon, and three hash browns! No tomato, no black pudding, no mushrooms I mean nothing else without hot drink ! For £8.95 I am curious what you get a normal breakfast?! But it's ok I have tried and never will come back as you have plenty of other restaurants in Bridgend which will serve you more for less !

Dine in brunch post shopping expedition 🙄 Mine was poached eggs on toast and baked beans, my friend had waffles crispy bacon and maple syrup, nothing fancy. My meal was fine and I enjoyed it. However, the reason I give a 4 fir the cafè and food is that my friend said that there was far too much syrup which spoiled the meal, (she left the biggest part of it) perhaps if only a drizzle had been put around the plate, rather than having the plate, and food swimming in the syrup she would've eaten it all 🤔 Otherwise service was quick, the food was hot, our surroundings were clean andcwell kept, xand the staff were smashing 👌

We’d be lost without Tesco Café – and especially Liz and Rhian! Every week, after swimming lessons with three toddlers and three babies in tow, we head straight to Tesco Café – it’s become our little tradition and the highlight of our week. Amid the chaos of tired little ones and exhausted parents, Liz and Rhian are always there with a smile, ready with breakfast muffins, hash brown bites, kids’ pic n mixes, and the all-important coffee. They go above and beyond to help us settle in and feel welcome, and their kindness and calm make all the difference. We honestly don’t know what we’d do without them – thank you both for being the heroes of our Friday mornings!

Stone cold and hard chips. Absolutely disgusting. Chicken burger tasted microwaved, but at least it was warm. The coffee is okay. I can't recommend it.

NORMALLY no complaints have enjoyed my meals in TESCO CAFE .Today however my fish was cooked so the fish melted in the mouth, the chips were dry and rubbery and cool, seemed to be chips that had been waiting for a time prior to have been ordered. Hope this is a one off

Nestled within the Bridgend Industrial Estate, Phil's News & Cafe / The Tasty Plaice is a delightful find that promises a warm welcome and delicious meals. This charming spot may be located in an unassuming commercial area, but it shines brightly with its hot, freshly prepared food that rivals many restaurants. With ample parking available, it's convenient for families and visitors alike. The menu features generous portions at reasonable prices; their credit crunch breakfasts are particularly popular among patrons.
It's easy to park outside as there is free car parking area, we had food from chip shop inside and it was lovely, we will be as a family using this as our go to chip shop from now on.

Hidden in a tired looking commercial area near the industrial estate this is a hidden gem. When we arrived it was pretty early but we were welcomed warmly by the staff. Good portions and good food at a reasonable price. We both went for credit crunch breakfasts and were not disappointed. They provided a baby friendly plate and cutlery so we could portion a bit of our breakfasts for the little one. High chairs are also available. Would definely go again for breakfast if we were passing!

We had such a warm and kind service there. We ordered 2 large cod&chips and 2 small cods, but the lady divided them to 4 boxes equally to make us easy to eat. The gentleman gave us plenty tartare sauce and serviette. And cod&chips were tasty and their curry sauce was super. Thank you for your lovely service😊

Awesome fish and chips. Cooked fresh to order and tasted so good. Friendly and welcoming. Ended our holiday to Wales nicely. Would highly recommend

I can’t recommend Ahead of the Game Nutrition enough! The service was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The team are extremely knowledgeable and really take the time to understand your individual needs and goals. Everything was explained clearly, and I left feeling confident, motivated, and supported. What really stood out was how personal and tailored the advice was — it didn’t feel like a “one-size-fits-all” approach, but something designed specifically for me. The quality, professionalism, and passion they bring is second to none. If you’re serious about improving your nutrition, performance, and overall wellbeing, this is the place to go. Genuinely an outstanding experience — I’ll definitely be coming back!

Really great food here, whether you sit in or get one of the huge range of wraps or meals from the fridge, which are all delicious. The coffee is great too (and my dog likes it in here)

Visited for the first time at Whitchurch on Monday and I was so impressed. Plenty of choice on the menu and as someone who is on a fitness and weight loss journey, it was extremely helpful to have the calories and protein content on all meals. The veggie breakfast was absolutely outstanding and low in calories. Great customer service and polite staff. Enjoyed it so much I’m taking another friend there tomorrow!
Shauna — Google review
Pickup yesterday for my son , didn’t think of checking the dates at the time obviously I thought it all freshly made on a Monday by having a few days to eat pre made food , paid full price only food all the food was dated the for that day and the next day for one item , absolutely disgusting certainly wouldn’t be going back , what a waste of £40 I would take back today but to travel 30 miles and £30 in petrol I’m not prepared to waste more money and my time going down to Cardiff
Alex L — Google review
Food’s always great - well prepared - delicious - nutritional values easy to see and straight forward. Sometimes I’ll go in and the stock is low on protein cookies etc to satisfy my sweet tooth but all in all very good. A bit pricy but worth it.
Jon C — Google review
I’ve been coming here for a long time, but today will be my last visit. I called in for some food, and when I went to collect it, I noticed the chef’s fingernails—not only were they very long, but they were also filthy. When I opened my order, (Box) it was wrong as well. Honestly, I’m glad, because after seeing the chef’s nails there’s no way I could have eaten it. It’s really disappointing, as I used to enjoy the food here.
Positive V — Google review
Ordered a breakfast wrap and cup of tea and it took 35 minutes for the tea, and the wrap was due to be another 20 minutes after that, so I cancelled the order and left hungry. Despite the group who ordered before me, getting there full orders within 10-15 minutes. Avoid if you want good service. Can’t comment on food quality - obviously.

Costa Coffee is a delightful counter-service coffee chain that serves up an array of hot beverages, iced coolers, sweet treats, and sandwiches. Recently, I had the pleasure of visiting with my dog Sasha, who was welcomed with open arms—it's great to know that dogs are now allowed! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive; one even received a slobbery thank-you kiss from Sasha after treating her to a snack.
On arrival we asked if dogs were allowed to be told as of three weeks ago yes they were. This was a completely new adventure for Sasha our New Zealand Huntaway as we are trying to socialise her in different environments, she is not use to going anywhere. We felt very welcome and the two young gentlemen serving on the counter couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming, one which (sorry didn't get his name) even got a lovely slobbery kiss from Sasha and she says thankyou for the treat she loved it. All staff were brilliant and a credit to the company.

We always sit in the garden, but it has deteriorated rapidly over the months..... they need to dig up the weeds & plant some easy to maintain shrubs...

Very busy, noisy but a nice atmosphere. My hot drink was made to a good standard. Staff were polite and working hard. Plenty of parking available.

I recently visited Ambiance Cafe and I must say, it is one of the finest cafes I have been to in quite some time. The staff, including both the waitress and the cook, were incredibly warm and hospitable. I decided to try their full day brunch which was not only satisfying but also well worth the price. What sets this place apart is its unique atmosphere that allows you to escape from reality, accompanied by relaxing music. Needless to say, I will definitely be returning in the future.
Ambiance Cafe is a lovely place for breakfast. The menu is quite extensive, offering a mix of traditional English cuisine with a touch of Turkish influences. The food is delicious and served warm, and the service is fairly quick. Highly recommended for a cozy and satisfying meal to start your day.

I just visited this place today and I gotta say it’s probably one of the best cafes I’ve been to in a long time. The waitress and the cook were so welcoming and very friendly. I ordered a full day brunch, I gotta say it was so filling and definitely worth the money. This place has lots of character filled with escapism with its chilled out music too. I will definitely come back again.

I just had my birthday breakfast here🥳 The food was delicious and the lady that served it was lovely. The owner was friendly and interested in us and made us feel welcome. We chatted about our holidays in Turkey and how much we enjoyed it there. I'll definitely go back and try the lunch time food. Thank you 👍

Kettle Black Cafe is a charming and pet-friendly coffee shop located in Llanharan. The cafe offers a cozy ambiance with ample indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu boasts an array of coffees, teas, pastries, as well as breakfast and lunch options. Visitors rave about the high-quality breakfast items such as perfectly cooked bacon, sausages, black pudding, and delectable scrambled eggs on sourdough. The cafe also serves excellent coffee.
Perfect place for breakfast/brunch. Steak was cooked to perfection, pink inside and the creamy scrambled egg were to die for. Chef is great and friendly. Peaceful atmosphere. Would Highly recommend.
Lateisha K — Google review
Surprisingly large and pleasant, not quite what we'd expected from online research. It's adjacent to a road with (few) of their own parking spaces. Outdoor seating for about fifteen to twenty in an area to the side which is nicely tended. Dog friendly. Sadly though, they don't actually cook food until after 9, so if you want breakfast before this won't be the place for you.
Mark M — Google review
Myself and my husband visited this cafe for the first time on Saturday 3rd August 2024 and had the most delicious breakfast we’ve ever had. Food was hot , seasoned well, plate was hot and local produce used. We were very surprised to see how busy they were at 11am and considering they were 2 members of staff down leaving only 1 chef and 1 person front of house to run it all and still deliver fabulous food is incredible. Aled Wynne (the chef) , you really do know how to cook, my steak was to die for. We cannot wait to come back and try everything else on the menu. 5*

I had the best breakfast I've ever had here very recently. I will explain why. There wasn't a stick of oil on the plate none! Everything was of the highest quality. Bacon amazing taste and perfectly cooked same for the sausages the flavour was unreal. Black pudding was the best I've ever had. Beans were on point. But the piece de resistance was the scrambled egg on sour dough. OH MY GOD! I class myself as a scrambled egg snob but it was world class. Great coffee too. Price point was surprisingly good for the best breakfast I've ever had. Really chilled nice atmosphere the two guys there were sound and really friendly. What a find this place was! Keep it up guys! Brilliant.

I had the best breakfast I have ever eaten here. Absolutely amazing and very reasonably priced. Recommend 100%
Jamie S — Google review
Pretty difficult to see from the roadside as there are all cars parked outside mostly covering the sign. A rustic/industrial look inside with plenty on the menu. The member of staff wasn’t the friendliest while serving but the coffee was good. There is a small car park and dog friendly however I feel owners need to keep their dogs by their own tables not let them wander.

Called in by chance through passing by, not been before. Possibly the best breakfast I've ever had !!! Top quality ingredients, perfectly cooked and really a case of right thing at the right time. We'll definitely return !!!
