Bill's Exeter Restaurant offers a diverse dining experience with separate menus for breakfast, afternoon tea, lunch, and dinner. The bottomless brunch is a standout feature, allowing guests to enjoy unlimited food and drinks for a set price. Located conveniently on Gandy Street, the restaurant is easily accessible and can be booked online. While some patrons have expressed concerns about an automatic service charge added to the bill, the overall dining experience is accommodating for various dietary restrictions including vegan, gluten intolerance, and dairy intolerance.
This is a lovely restaurant right in the centre of Exeter, we came for breakfast and didn’t have to book a table as there was plenty of seating inside. Service was very friendly and the food came quickly. The pancakes were absolutely delicious, we also ordered a smoothie which tasted nice but was more of a juice. Other than this, it was a lovely experience and would definitely recommend when in Exeter.

Really nice eatery in town. Staff are very friendly and professional. Well worth a visit. Had lunch again today and the food was really amazing. Cedric, was looking after us and he was great.

Got the bottomless pancakes. They were great, could do with a little more flavours though. Overall great experience, got served by Shaz and she was great. Super helpful with any questions we had and recommended good food items

Great breakfast, grabbed it with a friend, left very pleased with quality of food. Monika served us and did a fantastic job, always tending to us and making sure we are happy. Service alone is a reason i would come back!

I can really recommend it. There is a very seldom combination of very tasty delicious food and extra-polite service. We had burgers, mushroom (instead of duck) curry and the Rib & Ranch plate. Great meal- great evening.

Brody's Breakfast Bistro offers an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet that includes a variety of options such as Full English, pancakes, and waffles. The self-service setup allows you to have control over your dining experience without the formality of serving staff. With locations in Exeter and Torquay, this diner-style buffet is great value for money and perfect for those nursing Sunday hangovers.
Once in a while this is the perfect brunch spot! They’ve got a full english breakfast and waffles/pancake bar. Loads of topping options however limited food selection. For the price we loved it and would definitely come back another time. Recommend going on the weekdays for more table availability and cheaper price per person.
Remika — Google review
This spot is a perfect choice for anyone craving a hearty English breakfast buffet. From a generous selection of classic sides to an array of freshly baked breads, waffles, and a variety of flavorful sauces, everything is thoughtfully prepared to satisfy every taste. The warm, inviting atmosphere makes it easy to relax and enjoy a leisurely morning, while the attentive service ensures a delightful experience. A wonderful place to indulge in a classic breakfast feast that feels both comforting and special.
Phatt H — Google review
We went there today on the recommend. And weren't disappointed. Greeted by a really helpful front of house who explained everything and then it was time to tuck in. The waffle was fantastic with a fabulous choice of toppings and unlimited ice cream, the breakfast was great. Freshly topped up on the hot plate by a friendly chef, each table had a toaster so you could have as much, whenever you wanted. Coffee and tea and juices were on hand to get a and when and the atmosphere was great. Thoroughly recommend
Joanna A — Google review
Not very often is there a restaurant that gets 5 stars across the board, but this place deserves it. Staff were super friendly and showed us how it all works seeing as it was our first time there. There was a good amount of options too, you had the full English breakfast which you could help yourself too, which included options like eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, beans...all the things you'd traditionally find. They had a DIY toast section where you pick your bread and toast it back at the table. They had a waffle & pancake station which is operated by a member of staff, once it's cooked you can add whatever toppings you want, from sauces, to crumbs and also Mr Whippy ice cream! There isn't loads of tables so aim to get there before the mad rush at lunchtime and the early opening hours. Quality of the food was banging, have as much as you want, go up as many times as you want. Bangin'. *apologies for the half eaten waffle, forgot to take a photo!

Perfect Location. Unlimited full English, pancakes, ice cream !!!👌👌☕️☕️☕️Great atmosphere and the staff are first class.

First time visiting so glad we did! It was busy when we arrived but we were seated quickly there was a lovely selection of cooked breakfast items which you served yourself from. The bacon and sausages were good quality. The only downside i can find is that sadly we didn't leave room for the waffles and icecream they looked and smelt amazing! Will 100% definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Love going to Brody's when we visit Exeter. We always visit at the start of the day. Staff are really friendly and super helpful. Breakfast is fresh and cooked well. Restaurant is clean - very surprising high end looking and very clean bathroom. My favourite is the fried bread - quite uncommon on a breakfast now and the vegetables sausages - I don't eat bacon or sausages so am please their alternative is not that awful fake meat, husband loves the black pudding and the mushrooms and hash browns are the best we've had. Great value at £12.95 for all you can eat food and £3.95 for unlimited drinks - a bargain considering 1 coffee will cost over £3 somewhere else. Only dropped a star as it cost £2 more Friday through Sunday - profiteering in my opinion. However, still great value and highly recommend - have not had a bad visit here and gives us the energy needed to spend the day shopping in Exeter.

Great place to have breakfast at any time of the day. The full English is hearty and well prepared, even down to the crispy bacon. Waffles and pancakes with as much or as little toppings as you like, including ice cream!! Delicious 😋 and definitely place to return to. Live the toasters on the tables, and yes, there is marmalade and honey 🍯. Love this place, and the service with a smile sets you up for a delicious time and indulgence.

On The Waterfront is a charming bar and pizza restaurant situated in a 19th-century warehouse on Exeter Quay. The restaurant boasts a beautifully decorated interior with warm lighting, exposed brick, and an outdoor dining area offering scenic views of the water. Its international menu features modern pub classics, specialty pizzas, burgers, and a selection of hearty fish dishes.
Had an amazing meal with my mum and brother here. Service was great, Molly was our waitress and she was very friendly and helpful with us ordering what we wanted. Food itself was really good, we especially liked the dough balls. Really recommend trying them if you haven't before, they were as good as last time I came here with some friends. Pizza dustbin 16" was very tasty, we had this between us with sides being the dough balls, coleslaw/houseslaw, and chips. Highly recommend going, we booked and I'd advise it as you're more likely to get pick of seat although they were very accommodating in any case.

Lovely river side place to be. Sunny seats out the front. Lovely inside. Clean toilets. They took a long while to make two latte drinks but they tasted nice. Place to be if you want pizza or a burger.
Sophie L — Google review
I don’t complain about food and haven’t in the last 5 years or so, but I had to send my katsu chicken burger back for to the size, the portion would of been great for a child as the chicken was the size of a wing, it had the smallest amount of katsu sauce with a tiny stale toasted bun, Was offered another meal so asked for a pulled pork pizza and was astonished how someone can make a pizza completely tasteless, over cooked and this was like it was eating straw, Over priced poor food with overpriced drinks, This is a real shame as a year ago or so this was a great place to eat. The server was great though as he done well looking after us all.

Great selection of pizza 🍕 including gluten free options. Nice outside space with views of the quayside. Well stocked bar too.
Mike B — Google review
Let down slightly by some of the food: the dough balls were really dense and pork belly a bit mid - was looking for more flavour from it. Pizza is always a solid choice here and gets a 4/5. Generous toppings and a wide selection. Staff were friendly and attentive
Graham N — Google review
This is the BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE!! The sourdough crust is AWSOME!!! The garlic balls are great too.
Eunice C — Google review
Worst pizza I’ve ever had. I ordered a mushroom and squash pizza. Cubes of undercooked (boiled) crunchy squash and slimy tasteless mushrooms out of a jar chucked on a pizza for nearly £18. Not even a drizzle of oil or some herbs to flavour the veg on top. I will eat pretty much anything when hungry but it was disgusting. Not only that had to wait for nearly an hour when the place was not at all busy. I can see why now. Won’t be eating there again.
Jess S — Google review
Came for food in a small party of 7 on a Monday evening. Very quiet in the restaurant only a couple of tables taken. Staff were fine, atmosphere was lacking didn’t seem to be any background music, was just very quiet. Food was very poor, we all had pizza n paid extra for stuffed crust. I would not recommend this, the crust was made far too big and ended up being half the pizza, and definitely was not stuffed! Myself and another had the Spanish sausage pizza, there appeared to be a serious shortage of toppings which was really disappointing and everyones pizza was undercooked in the middle. £18 for a pizza is absolutely ludicrous considering how cheap it is to make pizza, couple that with half the pizza being crust, hardly any toppings on an area that had already been made smaller by that crust and then being undercooked is simply just taking advantage. The restaurant was empty so you would think the chef had plenty of time to get it right but appeared they just could not be bothered. In an age where alot of businesses are trying to squeeze as much as they can from customers this place seems no different. Premium price pizza for sub par quality. I doubt i will be returning and definitely will not be recommending.

Boston Tea Party, located in the heart of Exeter, is a popular and integral part of the community. The cafe prides itself on its spacious dining room, commitment to customer experience, and welcoming atmosphere for both humans and dogs. With a first-come, first-served approach and a refusal to accept bookings, Boston Tea Party sets itself apart with its customer-centric service style. The cafe's interior boasts quirky artwork, white-washed walls, and real-life trees inside.
We’re not easy customers and we are well travelled so we tend to judge… But! By not being easy I mean we have dietary requirements (no garlic or onions), we are particular about food (they offer free-range meat - wow, love that so much!) and sometimes we require extra ketchup;). We also came in with a (well-behaved and tired) dog but everything was a breeze!!! Loved the generous space, we were in on Monday so hardly anyone upstairs! It’s refreshing that the tables are not cramped, we do love our space when enjoying our food. And boy was the food to enjoy! One of the best burgers I’ve had, with soft and tasty bun (they get underestimated often) and exceptionally soft meat, very tasty! Loved that sofisticated sauce (no onions;). Chips were generous but I’d say average, but no harm done here:). I really appreciated the well-balanced approach from the staff - very sensitive, no pushy at all, gave us our space, only just making sure we were ok. When we needed anything, they were extra attentive and all with a smile. I did feel well taken care for from food and service to the environment. I wish more of my eating-outs were so gratifying.

Very centrally located, a short distance from Exeter Central Station and the high street. There were already a number of tables occupied even before 9am which was lovely to see. The seating area is upstairs so re accessibility, would recommend calling them to check before going (there was a long bar and 4 high stools downstairs too). Staff were great at explaining what could and couldn’t be modified to coeliac-safe and it was so reassuring that we went back again the following day. Food menu for kids also available.
Sheena — Google review
Very good food and service. I got the salmon, egg and avocado, very fresh. Will not give it 5/5 due to atmosphere as it is cute but nothing extraordinary. 👍
Andrew R — Google review
I can’t say enough great things about the staff at BTP, everyone was very helpful and kind. My niece has tree nut allergies and they were all so careful to let us know which menu items she should avoid. The food was amazing! It was my first English breakfast and I am now hooked! The beans and bacon were the highlight. If you go here I hope you have the pleasure of meeting Emily, she really went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and even made us a list of where we should try to go while visiting Exeter! 10/10, go here you will not be disappointed

The Boston Tea Party is worth a five star rating. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. The service was really good. The breakfast was amazing. Even the beans tasted great. Definitely would recommend.

Lovey brunch this morning. First time trying the Sweetcorn Hash and OMG it's to die for. New favourite breakfast I reckon! Thanks Emily for the lovely service too. A fellow enthusiastic appreciator of my meal, she understood the assignment and delivered main character energy 👌🎉 love this place, highly recommend

Ladies and gentlemen, let me tell you something. We go out to cafés and restaurants every day. We sit down, we order, we eat, and we leave. Most of the time, it’s fine — good food, decent service, nothing more, nothing less. But every so often, someone comes along who changes that routine. Someone who takes what could have been an ordinary meal and turns it into something you actually remember. For me, on this day, that someone was Meg. From the very first moment, Meg didn’t just serve. She welcomed. She paid attention. She carried herself with a kindness that felt real — not rehearsed, not mechanical, but heartfelt. Every interaction, every check-in, every word she spoke was filled with the kind of care that makes you feel not like a customer, but like a guest of honor. And that matters. Because it’s easy to overlook the impact of service. But think about it: food will fill your stomach, but people — people like Meg — they lift your spirit. They create moments. They leave you walking out the door with more than just a receipt in your pocket. You leave with the memory of how you were treated, how you felt. And that’s what lasts. Boston Tea Party has good food, yes. A welcoming space, yes. But Meg — Meg is the reason today stood apart. She turned coffee and a meal into something far greater: an experience worth remembering, worth talking about, worth celebrating. So here’s my word to Boston Tea Party: recognize her, appreciate her, because she is the heart that makes the whole place beat brighter. And here’s my word to anyone reading this: if you’re lucky enough to be served by Meg, know this — you’re in for something special.

Nestled in the heart of Exeter, The Ivy Exeter is a chic all-day bistro that perfectly blends sophistication with a relaxed atmosphere. Whether you're indulging in an exquisite afternoon tea or savoring dishes like Lobster Linguine and Plant-based Malaysian Curry, this restaurant caters to every palate. Its stunning interior boasts high ceilings, large windows, and Art Deco touches that create an inviting ambiance for diners.
All staff were fantastic, and our main waiter, Alfie, was full of charm, warmth and professionalism. It all helped my mother feel special during her birthday meal. The food was excellent and what one would expect at the price point. Though it was truly the service that set The Ivy above rival restaurants. A fine dining experience we shan't soon forget! We will be back to be sure.

I went with a friend for dinner before a concert at Exeter Cathedral and we chose the Heritage Menu. I honestly cannot fault the restaurant or its staff. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and looked after with genuine attentiveness. The food was absolutely delicious, and the portion sizes were just right. The décor is stunning and creates a wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning very soon.

Had an enjoyable time at the Ivy in Exeter. Overall, the food was delicious. We ordered the steak tartare, Roast Pumpkin and Butternut squash soup, Twice baked cheese soufflé for starters, and traditional fish and chips, the Ivy Steak and chips and Sirloin steak with Truffle and Parmesan Chips. As for dessert, we ordered the sorbet and the Apple tart fine with ice-cream and calvados flambé. The Ivy steak and chips was slightly chewy. The steak tartare and the Apple tartare fine were out of this world. The tartare had all the right ingredients, well seasoned. As to the Apple tartare, it was 'orgasmic'. Very nice experience all together. Staff were very professional. Definitely one for tour bucket list.

the food was ok….but what really stood out to me was the service. our lovely waiter was named samuel and he genuinely went above and beyond to accommodate us!! we were celebrating our friend’s birthday and he even gave us a free dessert at the end with a candle. he made great conversation the whole time.

We have been before and we really love this building, and the decor and the general ambiance is amazing. We had the set menu which is fairly good value, at least for a place like this. There was only one meat option which was a bit disappointing, but the fish was very good. Overall this has got to be one of the best places in Exeter.

Celebrated a birthday dinner at The Ivy Exeter, and Samuel was the absolute star of the evening who saved the birthday cake and given us a celebratory dessert. Service was 10/10 and another very kind employee - Lewis!! Who kindly offered to take group photos of us. They were very kind. The food was a wee bit dry and overcooked but the atmosphere definitely made it worth it. Will definitely be back :)

Celebrating our wedding anniversary with a meal at The Ivy, when we arrived staff very pleasant and wished us a happy anniversary. Had a fantastic meal, waiters very polite and a tentative, couple next to us also celebrating an anniversary and had a cake/dessert presented to them on the house, we got excited thinking we’d get the same but we received nothing although it didn’t spoil our celebrations!
Colin F — Google review
Its only 2 stars due to only 2 staff who were great tonight. Big shout out too Leo tonight and Sian but no stars to the management and rest of the team. One manager, brown suit, sat down with an lady in a green dress who looked like an influencer and did nothing, the service was pretty much terrible from when we entered until when Leo served us our desserts and Sian did our bill and took a picture for us at the bar of our group at the end of the night. They had 3-4 waitresses working an area of maybe no more than 20-30 tables and still it took nearly 60 mins for service between courses and we had to ask for drinks almost every time, in fact the only drink that was offered to us was the table water at the start, appalling service to be honest for the cost of dining and the supposed quality of the establishment. I would put this down more than anything to management who were more interested in standing around chatting than actually doing any work. Why don't you allocate each waitress a zone of say 5-10 tables which they then look after and make sure they deliver good food and quality service too instead of us having to flag down someone when they are going to and from the kitchen. The music was also too loud, not background music, so we had to raise our voices to speak to each other and the waitess couldn't hear us when ordering our food and drink although she also wasnt actually that great, a bit abrupt, she stood at one end of the our table of 6 and didnt move closer to each person to take their orders, she didnt read back the order to us to ensure our order was correct so food came out with items missing or incorrect or silly litttle things like one of our party ordering a steak for main and no steak knife given which we had to ask for. No food check was done during our meal, only when collecting plates at the end. The food quality was also really disappointing, presentation was ok but some things seemed odd and out of place. For example the squid came on a napkin scrumpled up in a dessert type bowl, i ordered the steak tartare which was watery like it had been frozen and defrosted, came with burnt toast which smelt burnt aswell and a ton of mustard which was so overpowering you couldn't taste much else. The mozzarella was a real odd consistency like it had been left under a heat lamp on the servery for too long. The wait between courses was about an hour and for the quality of the food that came out maybe that's why the waiting staff didnt come do a food check during out courses as they know how poor it actually is. Steaks came out warm at best and went cold within minutes which a proper steak cooked from fresh wouldn't do. I ordered the burger, the patty was already cold when it arrived at our table, the cheese was like plastic cheese and the bacon was flavourless. Even the chips were stodgy and covered in salt but not proper salt and instead like fine table salt. just no care taken with the food to ensure it came out at its best. Also a quick note that on arrival we asked the lady on the desk at the entrance, with the floral jacket on, not to mention to the rest of the party that we had arrived as it was a suprise for one of the party that we were coming to which she said 'absolutely fine' then when that guest arrived she said to him, 'ah yes that party of 6' so he instantly knew we were there and that ruined the surprise for them. When our desserts arrived carried up from the kitchen by Leo he seemed to to have been given this very odd position where he was told to stand and hover until one of the waiting team were on hand to deliver it to our table like he wasn't qualified enough where infact he was pretty much the most proactive and busy and attentive member on the restaurant floor all evening, no other waiting staff were anywhere to be seen so we welcomed him over to serve our desserts. he did a brilliant job and served my bombe with perfection, his service was excellent. Sian delivered our bill and we had more smiles and interaction from her in 5 mins than rest of the team all evening.

Crowded space, very uncomfortable chairs, dirty tables and toilets, basic tea, croissants only served cold! Decorative items poor quality & just make for a cluttered appearance rather than the artisan ambiance being aimed for! Don’t visit! Expensive for a horrible experience.

Delicious food and kind staff. Dog friendly. The cafe is busy and not suitable for a cosy chat with a friend, but is perfect for a quick lunch, or takeaway. Thanks for feeding me frittata for the last year!

My favourite coffee in Exeter! I love coffee and this place is awesome. Great almond croissant too. Tried the caramel gazilionare and it tasted awesome. Had coconut base

After traveling the world, hands down Jo and the team make one of, if not the best flat white I've ever had! Along with this there's a great ambiance, open kitchen, delicious homemade treats, sandwiches and a very generous serving of frittata! Can't recommend this place more and dont bother getting a coffee anywhere else!

Hotel du Vin Exeter is a stylish and sophisticated hotel housed in a beautifully converted red-brick former hospital near the cathedral. The hotel offers chic, contemporary rooms, an upscale restaurant, and a trendy lounge bar. Guests can indulge in relaxation at the spa and take advantage of the heated outdoor pool set in tranquil walled gardens.
We were down in Exeter attending our daughter's graduation and she'd booked a table her in advance, not to be disappointed on-the-day with not being to find anywhere decent to have a celebratory meal. The venue and meal didn't disappoint and we had a lovely time on a very special occasion. We had various starters and desserts but all decided to have the beef mains. The cut of meat was beautiful and we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Many hotels advertise themselves as "dog friendly," but often that just means "dogs are allowed." However, we had a genuinely great experience at this hotel with our dog. She's a nervous rescue and can be reactive at times, but all the staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. Thanks to them, we were able to relax for once in a public space with her. The service in both the restaurant and bar was excellent—everyone was polite, professional, and friendly. Reception was also great, with the exception of the manager, to be honest. The room itself was a bit dusty and could’ve been cleaner, but the facilities were excellent, it wasn't missing a detail, and the bed was very comfortable. They also provided food and water bowls for the doggy, a dog bed, and even a little welcome bag with treats, a toy, and poo bags. Top notch. Overall, we were very happy with the experience and would absolutely recommend it to other dog owners.

Stayed for one night. Nice room with very comfortable bed at a very reasonable price. The pool was an added benefit and it does have a small inside bit to swim in with jacuzzi jets. Lovely breakfast. Worth booking the £20 parking before you arrive

Spent two days here for a company meeting. The conference facilities were 1st class. The food for meeting was very good with a few choices. Booking in was very quick and easy and also very helpful. The room that i was given was also very good with lots of nice extras, dressing gowns, slippers, coffee machine as well as the normal teas and coffees

A great little city break spot perfect for taking you dog along with you. Everything in Exeter is a short walk from the hotel and the hotel is dog friendly. The room was a decent size and very clean The food in the restaurant was great too and the pool was fantastic when the weather was hot

Underwhelming. My room was small, the windows wouldn't open (fixed double glazing), generally the hotel feels institutional - long corridors, high ceilings, austere but also a bit tawdry. Carpets could do with replacing/ bed linen smelt a bit damp. Location not great and while the hotel wasn't terrible, it wasn't good given what what I paid. On the up side, breakfast was quite good and the bar was ok. There's a plaque by the hotel entrance, announcing this used to be a war hospital - which isn't going to be a surprise to anyone who stays here. This is what it still feels like.

We used the spa facilities today as a treat for my daughter's 30th birthday. The service in both the spa and the restaurant was great. We really enjoyed our lunch and time flew too quickly, we will definitely be returning to enjoy being pampered again. Jade, who handled my spa treatments was wonderful, highly recommend her.

Just about a 4 star - The building and surrounding is perfect as it is within a converted eye hospital perfectly located for both the town and the quay. The rooms were amazing! We booked especially because it had a pool but it was closed for the full 36 hours we were there as they "couldn't get the chlorine levels safe" which disappointed about 90% of the guests who had booked especially for that reason! The staff were quite dismissive about this and even when we questioned it, the answer was "the pool is a bonus and we don't charge for it" which doesn't really help when you booked it on the back of the pool and you have a 9 year old with you that you've promised a swim after a longish drive there. The bar service was slow slow slow (I needed one after dealing with a 9 year year old not be able to swim;-) they serve after 3pm but my suggestion is to order drinks from the restaurant before as its quicker than the service when at the bar! Very painful!

Came back in August. Easy to book. I must say, I go to a lot of beefeaters, all over and the food in this one, was absolutely amazing. The presentation was actually great! Service good. Will be back of down that way again.

Rude and grumpy staff..food is expensive and portions are small. £22 for this meal and a coke. My local pub does good quality home made food and a pint for about the same price and a friendly service. Won't be visiting here again.

Booked for 3pm on Sunday. Arrived on time. Restaurant very quiet with few people. Shown to table and told someone would take orders shortly. Waited over 20 minutes before someone came to take drinks order. No pleasantries just "want you want" ? After drinks served in a matter of fact manner waited a further 20 minutes for same colleague to take meals order. We particularly wanted the Sunday Roast and told " sold out" " have to be here before 12.00 for the Sunday Roast !! Ordered the upgraded sirloin mixed grill x 2. Other than " how you want it cooked" no other questions on kind of chips or add on sauces ( previous visit much more helpful waitress ) Meals arrived with one steak over cooked ( medium / well done ) and very tough. Other meal ( medium ) cooked ok but with a lot of fatty and gristle non edible ( see pic) On collecting empty plates and questioning the tough meat "I apologise" Asked for the chef's response but no feedback Overall the service was poor with a dis-interested team member and unhelpful attitude ( twice had to ask for additional sauces ) Whole atmosphere was un-cared for and not a pleasant memory.

We arrived not booking a table and the gentleman serving us took us straight to a table. We didn't wait long for drinks order to be taken and food order soon after. We had 2 course meal and drinks and was less than £60. Staff were lovely and polite and nothing was too much trouble. A definite thumbs up and we will be returning very soon.

Food was nice recommend the salmon, the older waitress was lovely the younger brunette was quite rude. Great food though decent rooms also at the premier in although smelled a little musty it was a clean room and powerful shower if you buy a meal deal you still have to pay extra surcharges which is a shame really

Shockingly awful, a sandwich from the petrol station over the road would be better, difficult to imagine how a worse experience could be contrived. Had to hunt for staff, food was terrible and expensive compared with, say, Weatherspoons (low bar). A disappointing, last resort type affair.
Kevin A — Google review
Typical Beefeater inn. Food in the main was good but rock hard chips. When asked if everything was all right, I said the steak was fine but the chips were not, how many times or long had they been kept warm? They were hard and most of the potato had disappeared. I’d expect an apology or an offer of replacement (which I wouldn’t have taken), I got a reply defending the kitchen insinuating I was wrong. If you don’t want an opinion of the meal, DON’T ASK! Not one I’d visit again.

The staff is helpful and accommodating. Guests have praised the manager for her thoughtful gesture of decorating a table for a birthday celebration.
A small group of us come here almost weekly. The food can be hit and miss honestly in terms of the quality, but for the price point I can't complain, but the service is what we really keep coming back for. Brad looks after us every week and has gotten to know us really well, including our regular orders. There's always a glass waiting for those of us who always order a refill. He has a brilliant sense of humour and tolerates our banter! He can adapt to suit those customers who may not appreciate the same humour as we do which is excellent customer service. He always greets us with a smile and his service is always great.

Our first visit here. Free parking when you register your vehicle on the tablet at the bar. Staff were fantastic. No real ales on tap (apart from Doom Bar) so cans it is if you don't like lager. Food was excellent though and competitively priced too. The piped radio music was too young for my tastes and looking around the room a 70s 80s show would have suited the clientele rather than generic Heart FM. But that's my opinion and my review.

Staff great. Hot breakfast was not as plentiful as other establishments and had to ask for more to be brought out when one customer cleaned it out in one sitting (4 sausages, 4 bacon, 3 eggs etc). Tables cleaned properly between customers

Service was slow. No carvery sue to finished at 12 yet advertised until 6pm. Seating area was nice but all chairs very tired or riped. When you did finally receive food it was very nice. Sadly no kids play area outside or inside which is unusual next door to a hotel.

Had a family birthday meal there today. 6 adults & 1 child. All chose the carvery. It was spot on! The child loved her beef, Yorkshire pudding and peas. Staff were polite, place was clean, atmosphere was good. Service was also good. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal there and would definitely go again.

Our waitress was delightful and very helpful particularly with my allergy requirements. However one lady, the one who greeted us needs some extra training in Customer Service and Customer Care. She greeted us with "Name"!!! I informed her we had not prebooked so was abrubtly told to go and wait by the till and we will get round to you when we can. Later my wife asked the same lady where she could get a dessert spoon and again was abruptly told "They are on the table"!! obviously we did not have one on our table as the wife would not have needed to ask. She eventually took one from another table to use. Food was good value OK and plentiful and they catered well for GF.

Delicious food! Lovely restaurant. Service was super friendly but very slow! We waited extra long for our waiter to order. Then, after asking the waiter, and waiting for quite some time, we had to fetch our own dessert menus. Then we had to go fetch a dessert spoon. If you get a discount code, make sure to check the dates. We planned to use ours but were informed at check out that it wasn't good until tomorrow. They said it happens all the time. So watch the dates.

There was a special carvery offer on the Thurs evening with queues out into the car park. However the staff coped brilliantly with the volume - servers, kitchen, carvers bit especially the young woman I took to be the manager who did not seem to pause all evening and kept smiling. The way quality was maintained under pressure was exemplary.

Food very average , but what let the place down most of all was the lack of cleanliness. Ground in food in the carpets only added to by a waitress "clearing" a table near us where parents with two small children had just left. She carefully wiped the table top so that any food residue went over the bench seats and floor. Shortly afterwardx an elderly couple arrived and unknowingly sat on the food leftovers. Yuck! An eating experience never to be repeated and never to be recommended.

An amazing service from the staff at this wonderful Toby Carvery. Lovely smiles and attitude from Kirsty and Alana. I would definitely recommend to others.

About average for a Toby but definitely not keeping up with I dependent carveries. Quite stingy on the amount of meat given and veg choices very poor considering we went on a Sunday. Service was good. Probably not worth the inflated Sunday price considering other local independent options are available for the same price but much better offering.

Fantastic food and wonderful guys at the servery but the floor dangerously slippery and wasn’t expecting the Willy art scratched in our table. Waitresses seemed stressed and one was quite rude to our neighbouring table and wouldn’t accept her voucher as her machine wasn’t working properly which wasn’t the customers fault. Ours on the other hand was very helpful.

Went here to celebrate our Anniversary dinner. It was very cold inside and the spoons and knives served were a bit greasy and could still see leftover food. Prices were reasonable and portions fair. We ordered mac and cheese, vegan pepperoni pizza, lava fries, garlic broccolini and speculoos hot cookie dough. The food was a bit bland. The staff were friendly.

I have been there before and enjoyed the time, however it was the first time for my friend. They messed up my order, anyway she enjoyed her carbonara but my chips were hard. The taste was not too bad for the burgers, quite large actually. But the toppings were barely there, there were roughly 5-10 fries total & nothing felt fresh. Probably wouldn’t order again as everything (minus the wings) pictured cost £50, I don’t believe it’s worth the price

This a review for the restaurant only, I didn’t stay here, so no clue about the rooms, but the food at dinner was superb! We had all entrees and for my taste, the duck was superb but my brother liked the scallops more. The sauces on the scallops were so good, we licked em clean off the plate. The ceviche was decent too but the other two entrees were just really more to our tastes. For mains, mum & I split the hot seafood platter and my brother got the sea bass. Every bite was delicious! The seafood taste really shown through and just perfectly cooked! At end, got a lovely surprise fudge to celebrate my birthday

I really love this hotel! This was my second time here and equally as good as the first. The room was huge, they allowed me to change from double occupancy to single occupancy with no issues when plans changed fairly last minute, and everyone who works there is extremely friendly. Shout out to the lovely bartender/waiter on Saturday night (and Sunday morning) who was very accommodating even though service was on the verge of ending for the night when I asked for something. The galley kitchen for guests is also a really great touch. Will definitely stay here again.

Invited to dinner by friends on Wednesday 26 March. We each had different courses and each dish was exquisite. We much prefer a smaller menu with attention to each dish carefully prepared than an huge menu with interchangeable food cooked with less care so this was perfect for us. Good. HEAVENS. We had made a trip up from Plymouth and now I'm irritated that it's gonna have to be a bi-monthly trip just for this place. We arrived on a quiet and quaint Monday afternoon. Seated quickly and the hostess absolutely knew her stuff in terms of cocktails. Took into account my tastes and matched it to the ideal cocktail like a cocktail cupid. Every cocktail packed a proper punch, but it was still delicious and the flavours weren't overpowered by the alcohol. Anyway, partner ordered three small plates. WHICH WEREN'T SMALL AT ALL. Good lord, they were generous servings at worst. I stole a piece of her Korean chicken and there was that much I don't think she even noticed. I ordered the pork belly kebab and it's presentation was matched with its taste in terms of quality. How pork can be melt in your mouth is beyond my culinary understanding but their chefs absolutely mastered it. Again, pleasing aesthetically and to the pallet. I will absolutely go again, heck I already want to go again as their dessert menu was STACKED. Alas, I was too full, so I'm already planning on what to have next time.

We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Botanist Exeter, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the service truly made the evening feel extra special. A huge thank you to Eloise, who went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and celebrated. Her warm hospitality, attention to detail, and genuine kindness were exceptional. She had a natural way of making us feel valued without being overbearing—just perfect. It was clear she loves what she does, and it absolutely showed in the way she looked after us. Eloise truly made our evening, and she absolutely deserves her tip—make sure it gets to her! We’ve discovered there is another Botanist restaurant in our local area, which we will definitely be visiting. We highly recommend The Botanist Exeter for any special occasion—or simply a wonderful night out.

It was dinner for my friend's birthday here, and the Botanist was a really good place to have it. Everyone there was warm and kind. I brought a cake, and they put it on a nice platter when it was time for it. The food was tasty, and the portions were generous. It was also pleasing aesthetically when it was served, and the ambience was great. The manager on the day we went allowed the celebrant to have a free dessert. We found that very kind and thoughtful. One of the ladies on the team also helped us take pictures. We felt very welcome at the place.

My wife and I visited The Botanist on a Wednesday evening. Our decision was made as we had our 2 small dogs with us and they're a dog friendly restaurant. We were greeted at the door by cheerful, personable Jodi who allowed us to choose our table. Once seated Jodi engaged us in interesting/interested chat, way above the usual run-of-the-mill stuff. She talked us through the menu and gave welcome recommendations. Jodi was attentive and cheerful throughout our visit, she's a real asset to the establishment. We also met Michela who was also friendly, interesting and helped make us feel relaxed and at home. The food was tremendous, very hearty portions so thank goodness we had the dogs to help us out. We were both too stuffed for dessert. The restaurant itself has a very comfortable feel, interestingly decorated and had both diners seated and others just enjoying drinks in the bar area. Something for everyone. The kitchen has a large service opening so you can see food being prepared, nothing hidden. All in all it was a great dining experience and we'd happily visit again when we're next in Exeter.

All round lovely and will definitely return.

Delicious food and cocktails. Great service from friendly staff. It was very busy, but we didn't have to wait long for our food, which was piping hot and very tasty. Really well presented 21/05/25 A perfect place for lunch and cocktails with friends, followed by a short trek upstairs for happy hour cocktails on the roof terrace. We were given free popcorn when we got there to snack on whilst we deliberated over the menu. I recommend the chicken schnitzel, which came with seasoned fries, coleslaw and a delicious garlic oil for dipping. The cocktails were delicious too. Mojito was my favourite, it was made properly

I went there for the first time recently with my friend. I was always curious about this place, and I regret now that I didn't try it earlier. It's a great choice of drinks, cakes, and few options for lunch or breakfast. The drink was very nice, so as slice o cake. I took something for my partner home, which was really delicious. The place is nice inside and the service is very good. There are two toilets inside, one of them is loo for disabled people. The prices are decent. I will definitely go there again and I certainly recommend this place.

Still a great place to come for a coffee or early breakfast as they open at 7:00 on weekdays. They offer two types of coffee normally plus a decaf alternative and the huge selection of pastries, sandwiches and cakes. The berry cherry smoothie was good but did separate after only a very short time so I think they need to adjust their recipe a bit. Sept 2023 Great coffee shop with a range of coffees available. A very busy place though more like a canteen style because it’s so big and noisy. Not really a relaxing place to sit and ponder

Very sweet oatmeal, it would be better to put the sauces next to it. But in general it was good! The only normal place that opened at 9:00 on Sunday near that aria.

Today we visited this coffee#1 whilst shopping for some takeaway coffees. There was a lovely lady behind the till. I didn’t get to catch her name to mention unfortunately. Who was up for a chat and made us feel very welcome. We visited about 3:30/4:00 pm 20/08/2025. Maybe she could be identified and thanked. The store was very clean and welcoming. The drinks were lovely and the right temperature. I ordered a mocha with coconut milk which was very nice and good they have started putting stickers which say what alternative milk they are made with. Very reassuring! One of the nicest service I have received in a Coffee#1 recently!

I like the food in this place and the staff are really friendly but the service is so slow. This time it took nearly 25 minutes just to buy a cake to take out. People were leaving the line because of how long it was taking. I was only waiting behind 4 other people when I arrived and none of those ordered food, just a drink each. They need more than 1 person serving if things are going to take so long, especially at times of day when they are likely to have more customers.

Decent sized cafe with quite a few using this place for their laptop lifestyles. We didn't have any food, but had coffee and hot chocolates to go. Both were good and the staff were very friendly aswell. After your hit of caffeine, there are plenty of well known fashion brands in Princess Hay mall to max out your credit cards.

We ordered 16 drinks of various types via the click and collect option. The drinks were ready within about ten minutes, despite the store being busy. The staff were friendly and helpful when collecting, despite it being such a large order (on a very hot day!). Now enjoying our smoothies/coffees/iced teas to cool down. Thank you Exeter Coffee #1 and the team working on 11 July.

Nestled along the picturesque Exeters Quayside, Boatyard Cafe and Bakery is a delightful spot for those seeking a cozy retreat after a stroll. While the cafe itself may be closed, the bakery remains open from 8:30 am to 2 pm on select days, offering an array of delicious treats. It's an ideal stop for anyone looking to indulge in oat milk coffee or grab some freshly baked goods like Emma's Bakery bread and vegan pasties.
Awesome. You can watch the full bakery at work as you eat and drink. Lovely spot, I had the chicken, mushroom and asparagus pie and some pastries and it was all delicious I would definitely come back again. The bread is also delicious. It is dog friendly.

I rarely queue up for anything but just had to this time, to see why this place is so popular. And now I know why. Great coffee, wonderful food, and great service from hard working staff. I had brunch, Firecracker Chilli Eggs & Cheese on beautifully light freshly baked rustic roll. I'll be going back for more. Tip: The Baker's Banana & Walnut Bread ( warmed and topped with banana, walnuts and maple syrup) is insanely good!

One of the best bakery I have ever been to! The lamination on the croissants 10/10. We have come many times and there is regularly something different on the menu. This is easily my favourite bakery in Exeter. I always recommend friends/family to come here if they are down in Exeter!

A great find! Great coffee, we actually had two cups as it was so nice. Food was lovely, pastrami sandwich tasty. The guys in our group were impressed with the Bakewell tart, firstly because it tasted good and secondly because it was a good sized portion. The staff were great, particularly the guy who took our order, very welcoming, happy to tell us a bit about the place too.

This lovely bakery is a treasure for Exeter not only for its delicious cinnamon buns and coffee but its new imaginative and delicious breakfast menu. Everything is cooked freshly to order and served by their lovely friendly staff. Exeter quay is the perfect location for this wonderful little café

Just discovered this place on a visit to Exeter and absolutely love it. Food and coffee both excellent, really lovely atmosphere with great location and the friendliest staff. How refreshing!!

Ordered the homemade beans on toast, you can add extras at £2.50 like a sausage, cheese or bacon. I opted for cheese as I love cheesy bean. The picture attached is the amount of cheese they put on. I was expecting at least half a ramekin full for £2.50, not a tiny sprinkle. I mentioned it to a member of staff who looked at me shocked at the comment, she did offer to get me a bit more but I declined as her reaction left me feeling a bit embarrassed that I’d even mentioned it. She then said she would let the chef know. I wasn’t impressed. The coffee was lovely and it looks like they do lots of nice things to eat but this has tainted my experience so I probably wouldn’t go again.

One of the best bakeries around. Their pastries are very good and their coffee is nice. They don’t have much seating space, so it is a good option for take away. Their bread is also delicious.

The menu offers more vegetarian options than meat, with generous portion sizes and the option to add a side salad at no extra cost.
Nice little coffee shop if you can get a seat! Lovely coffee, I had a bit of cake (see photo) Nice cosy atmosphere, staff friendly.

✨️this may be a new coffee and lunch spot ! We managed to get a table at a busy Saturday lunchtime. Loved the decor of plants everywhere and the vibe. Just a nice chill place. Staff were really lovely and friendly. It is a fairly small place, so try and grab a table when you can ! Had the caramelised onion and goats cheese toastie with a vanilla milk shake. Very plentiful and tasty 😋 highly recommend! 🥛🍞🧀

Visited here today for a quick lunch, the Chorizo, brie and chilli jam baguette was absolutely delicious! The coffee was amazing as well. They are distributors and importers of their own coffee, so everything they brewery here is there's. Nice and cosy vibe downstairs and upstairs where there is about 6 tables. Staff friendly too.

Wow their Cortado coffee is really good - best I've had outisde Spain. Recently visited Exeter after many years and after several failed attempts at finding anything that tasted like proper coffee in Exeter (Ikea: disgustingly foul, Warrens Bakery: too weak, Le Café André: yuck, Costa Coffee: no clue how to serve good coffee, gave me a latte (99% milk) saying it was same as flat white (no way ). The only good flat white was served in the RD& E Hospital TLC Restaurant. The biggest shock was the cost at an average of four pounds a time my coffee orders were severely rationed.

Reed Hall is a historical mansion located in beautifully landscaped grounds, serving as both a conference center and wedding venue. Additionally, it offers bed and breakfast accommodations. This magnificent building, dating back to 1867, is considered one of the finest on Exeter University's campus. Surrounded by exquisite Italianate gardens spanning acres, Reed Hall also houses the elegant Woodbridge Restaurant. Many are unaware that this restaurant is open to the public and has its own complimentary parking facility.
Our wedding venue is Reed Hall. As we are both alumni of University of Exeter, this venue is meaningful to us. We are also pleased that Reed Hall is an exclusive use venue. As soon as we expressed our interest in hiring the building, they reserved all the bed and breakfast rooms for our guests. Additionally, we are able to host our ceremony and reception at the same place. This saves us from the trouble of organizing the transportation to our guests, who will be coming from Vietnam, Europe, and the States. Besides huge glass doors, the Woodbridge restaurant at Reed Hall has a hardwood floor, providing us with an amazing opportunity for folk dancing. (For your information, I fell in love with James not at first sight, but at our first folk dance. Our wedding first dance, therefore, has been planned to be our first dance.) Equally importantly, Reed Hall is a perfect choice for us because it’s quiet, peaceful, beautiful, and not close to the city center. We are not a huge fan of the traffic around Christmas. Likewise, there are ample of parking spaces nearby, free of charge. If you live in Exeter, don’t you agree that parking near the city center can be expensive, and sometimes, impossible? The food was tremendously good; all of my guests were so pleased. The staffs were very nice and accommodating. They tried their best to help us. For example, they allowed us to come in advance to decorate the venue. Upon being informed that the wedding color is burgundy, they ordered the flowers in the bar area in this color. Amazing service! We highly recommend.

The house and gardens on this part of the university campus are very pretty, with good views over the city. It’s a great venue for events - popular for student balls and weddings. There is a restaurant/cafe in an adjacent building, although the house itself isn’t generally open for viewing. It’s a pleasant place to sit and read on a sunny day.

Pura Vida is a charming coffee shop situated on Well Street, making it an ideal spot for students due to its proximity to student housing. The cafe exudes a laid-back surfer vibe and is particularly popular among second and third-year students. It offers an affordable menu, making it budget-friendly for the student crowd. The cafe's interior is aesthetically pleasing, creating a visually appealing atmosphere for visitors.

Popped in for a brew and some breakfast. It looked amazing but I was a little disappointed as the pancakes were cold. Place has a great vibe and I'm sure it's usually pretty good in there. I did go back later in the day and they had ran out of tea which was disappointing as there is a shop next door

Lovely cafe with cute student vibes and a petit menu. The smoothie bowls are amazing and reasonably priced , very filling. The coffee is a 8/10, the iced mocha had a lot of chocolate unmixed at the bottom. There is student discount which makes the food and drinks a very good price. I would love to rate them higher as I come here often, but they often run out of ingredients and have a limited selection and on occasion forget my order when it has been busy. I do recommend this cafe to experience it for sure as it is wholesome. They do have plug sockets so it’s a great place to study too!

Honestly amazing. The owner (Howard) is a good looking young man but has appalling fashion sense. If I could give one star for fashion I would. We only ventured out into Exeter as we were on our way back from Cornwall and my girlfriend and I loved the vibe, coffee and food. Amazing gluten free options and the staff were so friendly. Will definitely come here again!

The coffee was good! Service was slow and inefficient. The food was badly cooked and the dishes had small portions. The potato hash was semi-cooked, the avocado was hard, and the meal took a long time to arrive. Would not recommend, unless you got a coffee to go.
Matthew H — Google review
Visited 05/03/2023 12pm-ish: Came in with another person who had been there 5 months ago and enjoyed their time, unfortunately it had changed for the worse. Service was quick but the portions were small (considering price), no napkins, no offer of condiments, drinks were especially too much e.g. £3 plain hot chocolate in child-size mug. Staff (maybe due to kitchen overheating?) were impolite by opening the main door on a windy cold March morning after customers had closed it (several times) and did not apologetically inform anyone about why - customers began leaving and putting on coats - can be easily resolved by a backdoor or fan system. Did not meet expectations from recommendation. Hope to see improvement as it is mostly staff based issues.

Ordered waffle at 12pm, half an hour later I was told that they don’t have enough waffle. Ended up getting mix of pancake and waffle. Waited for 45 minutes and portion was tiny! I expected more than only four raspberries when it said waffle with fresh fruit. Waffle was clearly a store bought Belgium sugar waffle. Overall, disappointing for the long wait. What’s worst, the cafe was full of a very very strong oily cooking smell, feels like eating in a KFC kitchen. However coffee was great and my friend’s sandwich was okay, just a bit overpriced for a £9 sandwich.
CNam Y — Google review
I had high hopes for this place as it is so close to my home. I haven’t eaten there, the food does look and smell good but the two coffees I’ve ordered have been disappointing. My first visit I ordered an iced latte and it was fine but expensive and I’ve had better iced coffee drinks at fast food places. Yesterday I ordered an Americano and honestly, it was awful. The espresso shot was quickly and carelessly pulled while the water added was much too hot, I could barely hold the to go cup without burning my fingers on the walk home. It tasted burnt and muddy, again not the kind of coffee you expect from a cafe. I understand why it’s always crowded, it’s very Instagramable and attracts students but if you’re going for the coffee, there are much better places around Exeter. I’ve also not been impressed with the two different servers I’ve had, they weren’t very friendly and the overall vibe of the place seemed pretentious.

Very good central location. 2 little parking bays next to the hotel for loading. Plenty of nearby parking although limited height restrictions on many of those. Would definitely return.

Great little gem in the heart of the city. Service is always warm and friendly. Frequently visited for drinks, 1st visit for food today and we impressed with and thoroughly enjoyed sharing a crab fish cake starter (home made tartar sauce) followed by a ploughman's with quality ingredients, and an amazing scotch egg. Dog station goes above and beyond with pet blankets, treats, water, and toys. Highly recommend.

We had a little works get together here and everything was just spot on. From the get go, Jon was attentive and very helpful and gave ample information and execution to provide a space and a very nice and chilled evening for us. We had the bar snacks sharer boards and fries and the food was lovely. The staff on the day were amazing and very attentive, provided little touches by asking if the music was at an adequate level for us, switching the heat lamps on and making sure we had everything that we needed. Thank you very much to everyone who helped to provide a successful night for us! 5 star!

Called in for a Sunday Roast today. The surroundings were very nice , staff pleasant . Unfortunately if you are hungry you will be left wanting. £19 for roast , so sensibly priced but three half potatoes, one half sliced carrot and one table spoon full of swede, table spoon of greens. Beef was nicely cooked . Tip of 12.5 % automatically added. Gratuity should always be the customers choice in my opinion.

This is a very nice boutique hotel close to the centre. The staff are very courteous, and the price-performance ratio is excellent. We would love to come back. However, there is no lift and only a narrow staircase on three floors. You should take this into account when bringing luggage.

I went here with my daughter a few weeks ago. I ordered a cheese scone and a jacket potato with beans and cheese (for £9). I should have checked the menu more closely, but I found the presentation of the jacket potato so off-putting I couldn't eat it. Perhaps the other items on the menu are better, but I am unlikely to visit here again.

Love the dog friendly policy and welcoming vibe of this corner cafe overlooking the Quay. Couple serving were friendly and helpful. Coffee and enormous croissant were great. However, the cafe was quiet and as I sat and enjoyed the view of the Quay, the passing joggers and walkers and birds on the river, my eyes crept to the general presentation of the cafe. Essentially the main aspects are covered but the windows were dirty in areas where small or large hands or dogs wouldn't usually make marks. When I used the toilet the hot tap came away from the sink in my hand, there were other noticeable housekeeping aspects which have been missed. The lovely servers were scrolling on their phones a good deal of the time I was in this cafe. A bit more attention to cleanliness, sorting those little maintenance jobs like taps in the wash basin, light switches, wiping walls and windows down etc.. is needed to make this cafe tip top. There could be a bit of a rearrangement of street furniture to make the entrance more accessible and obvious, if you want customers draw them in with a clear route, clear sign and a warm welcome.
Maria B — Google review
I bought an ice cream for my daughter and a small Americano for myself. The older blonde woman in a ponytail was rude and arrogant. Even another customer noticed. I felt so uncomfortable that I didn't even ask for sugar. She poured so much water that I burned my hand on the way out, weak cardboard lids too. I was served there once by a gentleman and I had no complaints.

During our recent stay nearby, we were on the hunt for a healthier dining option and stumbled upon Absurd Bird. Initially hesitant due to their menu's emphasis on fried items with no grilled alternatives, we were pleasantly surprised when an employee informed us that everything could be prepared grilled. We decided to give it a try, and wow! The flavors were absolutely incredible—definitely worth the switch! Absurd Bird has become a go-to spot for chicken lovers like myself.
We were staying nearby and were looking for something on the healthier side; we were checking out the menu and were about to walk away because the menu lists everything as fried and has no grilled options when an employee came out and told us everything fried can be ordered grilled so we decided to give it a shot. Holy cow! I’m so glad we did. The taste was phenomenal. Why they don’t offer the grilled option on the menu is beyond me. Fantastic food, friendly helpful employees, reasonable prices and a great atmosphere make this a must visit if the menu is appealing to you!

Super friendly staff. The waffle was good. Unfortunately, the fried chicken was very dry. It’s eatable with loads of sauce. I personally wouldn’t order it again. I’ve been to better American diners in Bristol. I rather pay more to get better quality of food than having this.

A Perfect English Breakfast in the Heart of the City I recently visited this lovely spot in the city center and was impressed. Came here for the first time for coffee. We ordered the matcha and 10 minutes later the staff came out to say they were out of it. Disappointing however we got to order another drink instead which was still yummy nonetheless. The seating outside is very nice and overall good location. Would come back again hopefully they are restocked next time!

Came in and tried to use the app on the table, which didn't work. Ordered at the bar. I ordered a white americano with cold milk and a sparkling water. When it came to four pound something I asked if they'd got the sparkling water on that, to which I got an eye roll and a "no". So, I asked for a sparkling water. When the white americano came with oat milk, we took it back to the bar and asked for skimmed, got another eye roll. Place is fine, bit noisy, but there are a lot of tables and people chatting as well as music playing so to be expected. There was no need for the attitude of the servers though. I should point out it was from males, the female server swapped the milk (that we didn't ask for in the first place) no problem. I don't usually leave negative reviews, I would rather just not review at all if I don't think a place is great, as I appreciate that sometimes places have a bad day and wouldn't want to tarnish a business with a low score for an off day. However, I really don't like rudeness, so maybe this place should just consider a little staff re-training.

Staff were polite, but overall the place just felt lacking. One of our drinks was forgotten, and the smoothie I ordered tasted sour to the point I couldn’t finish it. They did warm up my cake when asked, which was nice of them, but it was still bland and stale. Not long after leaving I felt unwell and could still taste that sour drink. The tea was nicely made, though the portion was very small. For the high prices, the experience really wasn’t worth it, and we definitely won’t be returning.

We were basically ignored when we went in - was ages before the person behind the counter deigned to speak to us. When our coffees arrived the cups were sticky and the teaspoon didn’t look like it had been washed. Coffee itself was fine.
Claire R — Google review
The place is right in the middle of city centre with optional outdoor sitting arrangements. The food was not very impressive but alright. Too much suger and cinnamon in the tea. As usual and like every other place, the suger should be provided separately rather than already put in. Over all it is a alright place.

Nestled just outside the bustling city center, The Farmers Union is a delightful pub that perfectly blends a homely atmosphere with an inviting outdoor space. This dog-friendly establishment offers a fantastic selection of local ales, making it an ideal spot for adults to unwind while kids enjoy the play area. Whether you're in the mood for a classic English breakfast or craving hearty burgers and mains, there's something on the menu for everyone.
Stayed here for one night, for the price, cannot go wrong! Room; The room is quite small, well suited for a single traveller and is within walking distance to the city. Bed was comfy. After the pub closed, it was super quiet so let you sleep easy. For me, perfect when it came to temperature too, though I like the fact a heater is in the room incase not to your liking. Bathroom; The shower is huge! Normally, in hotels, I'm smashing my elbows off of everything, but this one was great, decent temperature. Toilet when sitting was a bit narrow on account of the big shower but that's not a bad thing in my book. Food; As the hotel is above the pub, it makes travelling for food nice and easy as it's only downstairs. Dinner was decent, it was a reasonable price and was properly done by the taste of it (Hunters chicken didn't seem microwaved at least like most hotels do) However, the food is where I put the service to 4*, for one reason, breakfast. To be clear, I did not try the breakfast even though I wanted to because it wasn't served until 11am, way too late in my opinion. The barman was nice enough to tell me where to go the day before, but definitely was an annoyance for me.

Can’t speak for rooms or food as we just popped in for a quick drink. The welcome was second to none. Such a warm, welcoming landlady we felt so at home. Beautiful pub too.

Stayed there for the night. Room was good. Stayed in a basic single room which suited me. Food and drink were great, and so were the staff. Can't really fault. Would recommend.

Went in for a Sunday carvery wish I didn’t bother gammon was cold the lamb didn’t taste of lamb the roast potatoes were dry and hard like cooked a few days before then reheated, carrots tasted funny, Yorkshire puds were Lidls cheap and nasty, mint sauce was just water, you get given a tiny amount of cauliflower cheese, definitely not worth the £14, asked for a refund and the man was rude. Save yourself the hassle go somewhere else

*Review for the accommodation, didn’t dine in the pub itself* Stayed a Saturday night. Positives first: -Location is excellent. -Nice big windows with plenty of light in the room. (Now bearing in mind it’s a Saturday night and above a pub so there’s going to be music and noise.) Cons: -Windows aren’t double glazed so it sounds like the windows are open and you hear every bit of noise outside. So this means you hear the drunkards yelling in the street till the early hours even after the pub is shut and every bit of traffic. -room is very compact (double) so better if there’s just one of you (ok for me) -Walls are thin and could hear the conversation and coughing of the people in the room next to me -No WiFi details given Overall, glad I brought ear plugs just in case. Bring a hairdryer if you need one - my fault for not checking. In my experience for the price of £76 you’re better off to spend a bit more and go somewhere else. Rooms really should be priced lower considering all the above.

Great location Within walking distance of the city centre and the train station. Car park outside is cheaper than in the city centre ones. The Staff were friendly and polite, the pub is clean and the food was very tasty. We had the breakfast (double up) and we were very impressed. Everything was great produce, the only thing I wish is that I had more mushrooms, next time I'll ask for extra. The seem to do great deals on drinks and have a pool table and sports on, so I reckon it's a busy pub on the weekends and evenings, Great prices and Overall very happy. Will be coming back

We were a party of 8 and arrived 1.5hours before food service was over, yet it really seemed as if the staff did not want to serve us. One was so rude to one of our party that they decided not to eat. If I am in the area, I won't be goi g back here.
Andrew S — Google review
There's a security camera *inside* the gents toilets. While pointing away from the urinals, the big mirror it is pointing to directly reflects the urinals. I'm sure the pub has it's justification for this, just like I have a justification for never coming back

Route 2 Cafe & Apartments is a charming spot in Topsham, offering both delightful dining experiences and comfortable accommodations. The cafe serves up an exceptional breakfast with high-quality ingredients and friendly service. Guests rave about the mouthwatering sausages, thick bacon, and perfectly cooked eggs. The apartments are equally impressive, with the Estuary apartment providing stunning views of the Quay and a relaxing living space.
A group of us, family and friends, got together to celebrate the life of a dear departed at the Route2 cafe. Route2 went out of their way to provide the best food (perfect, delicious and very healthy) and the Staff were so lovely! Bob, you really looked after us, and so did everyone. Route2 has larger tables so it can cater for groups, and I love that dogs are allowed so we all got a bit of dog therapy!!! I love Route2 and they turned a meal into a real occasion. Thank you SO MUCH! Also: very reasonable prices! Great value. Excellent scones and cakes as well as delicious main meals. I loved every bit!

Such a great little cafe. Ised to be a pub apparently. Good quality food. Very tasty breakfast. Excellent bacon & sausages. Only slight grumble is that the tomato wasn't cooked long enough. But apart from that, a really, really tasty breakfast! Just what the doctor ordered!!

We celebrated our sons 40th birthday with a family brunch. We had use of the garden room which accommodated 10 people perfectly. We were able to decorate the room with a birthday banner and balloons. The food was excellent. All 10 meals arrived at the same time, were piping hot and delicious. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I would recommend Route 2...100%!

Excellent little cafe in the heart of Topsham. Cosy and welcoming with friendly staff. Visited with a friend for coffee which was wonderfully hot, and also had a delicious decent-sized toasted teacake which even came on a warmed plate. Good value too. Paintings by local artists on display and available to purchase. Small courtyard garden with outdoor seating. Will definitely return!

I ordered a hot drink from your shop, but when I opened it, I noticed that the cup was not filled properly and most of the top was just foam. When I checked, the actual tea content was much less than expected, which was quite disappointing, especially since I paid £3.50 for a single cup. I feel it would be better value to go elsewhere if this is the standard.

Used Fresha for the catering of a corporate event for 19 people. The ordering was easy via their website. I had a phone call a few days before delivery to confirm the order details and dietary requirements for some of the guests. The food was delivered on time, presented nicely, and the guests were all impressed by the variety and quality.

Popped in for a light lunch and tea. I asked the waitress if it was ok to order from the childrens menu as I was not wanting a big lunch. She was very polite and positive stating it was not a problem at all. I ordered the Childs baked potato with beans and cheese. It was a generous portion of half a baked potato with a fresh side salad garnish - a healthy and satisfying lunch. Thank you Fresha!!!

To the team at Fresha, I wanted to thank you for the warm welcome at your Exeter cafe & meeting room earlier this week. I was somewhat flagging that day, but your yoghurt, honey & muesli proved just the ticket. With kind comments on how I might further give myself a boost, I felt quite 'looked after' 🥰 and you certainly delivered on your line 'Because what you eat matters'! Keep up the great work and thank you again, SJ x.

Looked lovely, but we we're abruptly turned away when the 'Card Only - No Cash Accepted' sign was pointed to by the staff. What a terrific disappointment. I still believe in the power of cash. And will refuse to support any business that fails to accept hard currency. Safe to say I will not be returning to this establishment.

Whenever you're assigned a workplace within Sowton, or have an appointment in or around the industrial estate, and you have plenty of time to spare and it is early in the morning, you can get yourself a snack or some breakfast at Fresha Ltd. Personally, when I'm there, I tend to go for a peppermint tea, a banana and a chocolate cake (like a biscuit or a brownie). The eatery is fifteen to twenty minutes away from the Digby & Sowton train station, yet it is only about five minutes away from the local Park And Ride bus station.

Sandwiched Inn Cafe And Snack Bar is a cozy and welcoming place with a bright atmosphere. Despite its small size, it offers a surprisingly private feeling. The staff is friendly and accommodating, ensuring that every visitor feels at home. The menu is diverse yet focused, and the sandwiches are made to order. Over the years, the cafe has undergone changes but has maintained its quality. In addition to serving delicious coffee and pastries, it also offers artisan breads.
I'm blown away by this place, and I've been to over 12 cafes just this year alone. Sat inside the welcoming atmosphere with a tasty beverage and accompanying biscuit I found myself drifting into a blissful state of deep mindfulness and enlightenment. I became aware of the true meaning of the universe and my place in it, but sadly forgot before I could write it down. I will definitely be back for another taste of Nirvana.

I ordered 4 platters of sandwiches for an event in RD&E hospital. The quality and service I received was second to none, the proprietor Mathew even carried everything to my car. Absolute gem of a place. Discovered in passing a few weeks back and have been meaning to visit since. Bright and welcoming atmosphere; cosy and surprisingly private feeling regardless of its small size. Staff are friendly and cheerful with a nothing is too much trouble demeanour. Menu is wide without losing focus, and as a bonus the sandwich I fancied was made to my requirements. I don't know whether it was on the menu as I was offered whatever I liked instantly, giving me the impression that fantastic customer service is not an extinct create but very much alive and well here. The perfect local cafe serving excellent food, cleanly, quickly and with an obvious pride in providing the best experience possible. I absolutely love and recommend this place, and would gladly drive an hour to eat here. The coffee by the way is divine. Support this place because it really is a rare find. When we visited it was a bit cold but the coffee was nice and hot but unfortunately it was now card only not good some people still like to use cash next problem no cups left it had to be takeaway plastic/paper cups might be better if they employed more staff to do some washing up also not much choice in food this wad about one o'clock in the afternoon so maybe not ordering enough don't know but I my estimation this place has gone done in standards over the last couple of years could do better plus tables not cleared outside definitely staff problems will try some where else next time in Exeter

For anyone who knows me, knows how much I love Costas. Well today was very disappointing as I went in on a very cold and wet day to get a tasty latte(which it was) but the staff were distracted in conversation & stocking up/down and eventually turned to serve me. The state of the shop was very messy, they may have had a busy Monday but it needed a good clean. The outside area where I sat was very untidy with ashtrays full of cigarettes and water from the rain, paper and cups & trays all over. It's a shame as I have been here before and enjoyed my time.

The Pitstop Cafe, a family-owned establishment, is truly outstanding. The staff members are cheerful and amiable, the menu is extensive with daily specials crafted in-house, and the prices are highly affordable as well. Ample parking space can be found at the back of the property, and there's also outdoor seating at the front which adds to its allure. Whenever I find myself nearby, I always make it a point to visit this place.
Amazing breakfast! I have often past this place when in Exeter and not always been able to stop , until today. I am so glad I did. Firstly there is a large car park around the back for customers only (about 25-30 cars) which is very handy. When I arrived & walked in one of the 1st things I noticed was how clean this cafe is, outside and inside is very clean and tidy, gives good 1st impressions! Thee was good selection on the menu and a specials board with home dishes aswell. It's was only 8am so I had a breakfast , it was hot , came out in good time, the eggs were cooked perfectly, the bacon was really nice & tasty, the fried bread wasn't over done and not greasy. Over all the food I had was really good, tasty, fresh and hot. Pit it this way I had the really big breakfast , couldn't stop eating it and cleared my plate!. The staff here were really friendly and helpful, the lady who served me had a nice smile on here face, seemed happy to be there to serve me , accommodate me with what ever I wanted and nothing was to much trouble. It's nice to see cheersfull and happy staff at the front of house. Also this lady was (sorry didn't catch her name) when she was not serving she was cleaning, topping up sauce bottles. As I said this little cafe is very clean, I really like that because if they take pride in keeping it clean, then they take pride in their food. 5 stars across the board from me and I will definitely be coming back again. Thank you

My partner was in here a few days ago doing some shopping where she was harassed by a homeless person who was not leaving her alone at the self checkout. Members of staff stood there watching this all unfold and made no effort to diffuse the situation or ensure her safety. Multiple rude and vulgar comments were mad to her making her feel increasingly uncomfortable and the staff continued to just watch as it all unfolded. Not a safe place to shop if you are a lone woman, they have a responsibility to ensure it is a safe environment to shop in and they have failed in this instance.

Filthy toilets , constant leaking roofs with buckets put down, dirty walls that need a nick Of paint. Place has gone down hill from what it use to be. Not the marks and Spencer’s people remember . Needs a good paint and cleanliness. Plymouth and Cardiff m&s is spotless against Exeter high street. Raised complaint about toilets to be told its contract cleaners. Poo up was etc and showed this to manager and still nothings improved . Place feels very untidy and grubby. The corridor going out on 1st floor to guildhall toilets needs a good nick of paint and the leaking roofs with buckets down is bad.

Customers have praised the friendly service, reasonable prices, and delicious food, likening it to an authentic American roadside dining experience. The establishment has been described as clean and welcoming, making it a great stop for travelers looking for a taste of the past along their journey.
Had a fabulous breakfast here during our travels and couldn't be happier with the experience. The atmosphere was lovely and welcoming, creating the perfect setting for a relaxing meal. The food was absolutely delicious - everything was fresh, well-prepared, and clearly made with care. A special mention for the excellent signage along the roads - it made finding the location so much easier than expected, which is always appreciated when you're traveling through an unfamiliar area. This is definitely a place we'd happily return to if we're ever traveling through the area again. If you're looking for a quality breakfast spot in Exeter, I highly recommend giving Brightside Roadside a try - you won't regret it!

I love going to Brightside on Haldon Hill near Exeter. The atmosphere is fun and the staff friendly, being just the right amount of attentive. I have been a number of times but the smashed avocado with bacon is what brings me back time and again. It is delicious! 😋 Everyone I have been there with have enjoyed their meals and it has become a popular meeting place for food whether a quick snack or taking longer and chatting. The outside seating area is nice and sunny despite being at the side of a busy road! I highly recommend to locals, after a visit to the forest or stopping to break a journey.

Popped in for a late breakfast having passed numerous times on the way back from Plymouth & we were very impressed with the service. When my partner arrived, the gentleman asked if she wanted to use the toilet before asking if she wanted a table?! On seating us both, we waited for 20 minutes before having a drinks order taken. They explained that they were very busy (we counted 8 tables and 3 waiting staff?!) but we also watched staff wandering about filling up sauce bottles and not taking out order. I ordered 4 starters/sides to make up a full meal but half of them came on my partner's plate! Her meal was missing items too. The manager was also wearing jeans and a Hawaiian style shirt, he looked like a member of public and didn't give off any vibe that he worked there! Overall, this was an awful experience and I will not return to the Exeter branch. If you're planning on visiting, keep driving and head for the Honiton branch on the A303!

From my 8 year old: whenever we come here we get the most amazing food and we never have to wait long to get it. The people who work here are lovely and really kind. I like the design of the place. My mum says it’s like Little Chef but with better food. And for children the activities are really good. We just love coming here. It’s a great place to go if you’re on a long drive. Stop here for a nice meal and a MILKSHAKE.

Terrible service. In this day and age where the difference between companies comes down to being greeted in a welcoming manner, this Starbucks is terrible. No warm greeting by the staff, no niceness and the blond female barista who placed the drinks on the counter was shocking in her manner (verging on being rude). It's free to smile and it doesn't cost anything to be nice to the customers, why is this not instilled into staff?! I won't be spending my money here again. This Starbucks is awful. Time served 12.20pm 15.06.25

Was served with haste, professionalism and a smile by the cool barista with the funny hair and glasses. 10/10 Will come here again. Prices are a bit steep, and opening hours seem very late for a coffee shop.

Two guys today, one with dark longish hair and the other with tattoos, were the most miserable employees I’ve ever met. They didn’t smile or engage with customers. When I asked for milk, that they forgot the one said to the other, “What does she want?” I Work in hospitality and it’s easy: smile, be courteous, and listen to customers.

Unbelievable staff. Very hot day, I ordered an iced smoothie at over £6.50, man behind the bar started talking to friends, some of which came over to him for a conversation. Lots of people were waiting, and people were leaving as they had trains. I eventually got my "smoothie," which turned out to be something like strawberry squash, some freeze dried strawberries whole slices, and ice cubes. Other berries were missing and it was unblended. Complete and utter waste of money! I could have bought a juice or squash from the newsagents opposite, which would have been better and cost me around a pound.

Arrived early so had time to chill while waiting to go to Coventry ..’ I ordered my coffee , with various trimmings .. it was served with a friendly smile .. and the queue was busy .. I found a table which was clean . The atmosphere was lovely … I felt … The price is a bit steep … but I’m glad I can get a coffee with a real coffee bean before ny trip…

The lady on the counter was so rude, furthermore the matcha latte was so bad, it was all milk. According to the lady the starbucks doesn’t scan your starbucks card and doesn’t take any requests on your orders.

I visited this Starbucks coffee shop last week as I had some free time before my train arrived, & i am not happy that I have been overcharged for the 2 bags of coffee beans that I purchased, the server took a while to put the items through the till & apologized for the delay as he couldn't find the price, he then found what he was looking for & I scanned my bank card & paid before realising that he had just said £19.20, I asked him to confirm what I thought I had just heard & he said yes that's correct as they are £9.60 a bag, I was in total shock & just walked off with my coffee, vowing to contact Starbucks customer support as soon as I get home to question this rediculous price. Once home i decided to take a photo of these coffees to send to Starbucks, but when I turned the espresso over it very clearly stated that the price was actually £5.40 per bag, NOT £9.60, that is almost a £10 over payment for these 2 bags of coffee, I have now contacted Starbucks online on 3 separate occasions asking for a refund but I have still had no reply, my bank won't help me as they say they I need to sort this issue out with Starbucks directly and I can't take both the coffees back to another store because I wasn't given a till receipt, I can't believe it as I usually purchase 6 packs of this coffee from Nestle directly via Amazon for only a few pounds more, disgusting rip off merchants.

Pret A Manger is a popular counter-serve chain known for its ready-made sandwiches, breakfast options, coffee, soups, and salads. While some customers recommend their iced lattes and cinnamon danishes, others praise the quality of their sandwiches and soups. However, one customer didn't enjoy the Korea Beef bowl takeaway. Despite being busy at times, the service is generally efficient.
I always get my iced lattes there and a cinnamon danish. Sandwiches and soups are good too. I tried the Korea Beef bowl takeaway and didn't really like it so I don't recommend that but their coffee, danishes and sandwiches are good. Although its usually busy the line at the till on the High street location isn't bad and get your coffee pretty quickly and I go there several times per week.

Awful customer service from one staff member. Coffee had burnt flakes in it but I was told they were coffee grounds - I was even shown what coffee grounds look like (as if I didn't know, having made my own coffee almost daily for years!) These were definitely flakes of burnt something or other, but nonetheless instead of a refund or replacement coffee I was patronised and left astonished by the treatment of me as a customer. (Not necessarily true of most members of staff!)
Joshua P — Google review
This is my third time this week experiencing rude customer service from one particular member of staff. Normally I don’t write negative reviews, however, I have never experienced such consistent unprovoked rudeness. First time I was talked down upon and infantilised for not knowing the specific name of a coffee which I had never ordered before. Second time was when I asked if they were doing too good to go bags. she rolled her eyes at me and I could hear her whispering about me as my friend and I were leaving the store. Third time was this morning, my friend asked for a cup of water and she was belittled and turned her away. I could feel her emanating bad energy and it made us feel uncomfortable. Overall this has been altogether a very upsetting experience, especially as I always aim to be a friendly customer. This worker was short and had short hair. I have hope that this person can change and realise that their attitude can affect others, no matter how insignificant it may seem to them.

I go all the time and Pret used to be my #1 place, but the last 3 times i’ve been my order has been absolutely messed up to the point where I’ve had to throw the entire drink away. I understand pret is busy, but on a university campus with different dietary requirements pret staff should be a lot more aware when making drinks.
Leah I — Google review
AVOID unless you like wasting your time stuck in long queues. The staff are slow and grumpy, the drinks are often underfilled and disappointing, and the food is ridiculously overpriced to the point it's funny. The store often appears to be understaffed too hence the long queues - it normally takes 30+ minutes to get a drink. Tonight they allowed people to queue for 20+ minutes before sending everyone away because the queue was too long and it was almost closing time. It doesn't take much common sense to close the queue a certain time before closing, but then, this is Pret. The only good thing about Pret is the free month's drinks via the subscription, but I recommend cancelling at the end of your month and using the much much better Costa upstairs.

Went in for a quick coffee, a man called Thomas served us and a different lady made the drink. Didn't get a single smile from any person. A lot of people would love a job there and would actually give customer service too, so I am disappointed. A different lady next to Thomas serving was really happy and bubbly, unfortunately we didn't get served by her.

Being a very very picky fussy eater ordered a build your own roast for lunch today. What can I say ??? Absolutely fab. We had a few during lockdown which were lovely but todays excelled. We had the beef which was cooked to perfection, spuds crispy and fluffy inside and gravy was to die for. Everything was cooked nicely as should be and very tasty. Can highly recommend to anyone wanting a roast and not wanting to actually cook it themselves. We'll done to the chef and all who contributed to the meal. 10 out of 10. Many thanks.

I love Costa and it’s my favourite coffee shop, but every time I visit, there’s always a long queue. Since the recent makeover, there seem to be fewer seats, which makes it less inviting to stay. Unfortunately, this means I often go elsewhere instead.

I was blown away by Tammy who paid the balance on a drink for a customer who had not left sufficient money after helping herself to a drink. She, then had to challenge a gentleman who helped himself to a sandwich without paying. It all seems very unfair. At the very least I would expect Costa to install enclosed cabinets to avoid this constant problem for their lovely staff. It was very uncomfortable to witness and would put me off a return visit.

Morrisons Cafe is a popular dining spot known for its delicious and affordable meals. The cafe offers a wide range of food options, including breakfast items, main courses, and desserts. Visitors can enjoy freshly prepared dishes in a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. The cafe's menu features classic British comfort food as well as some international flavors. Whether you're looking for a hearty meal or just a quick bite, Morrisons Cafe has something to satisfy your cravings.
This is a great place to grab something to eat, It's reasonably priced so it's brilliant value. We haven't tried them, but the cakes look nice and there's usually a few different ones to choose from. It's just a cafe, so don't expect to get exactly what you want at certain times as they often sell out, but the staff are always friendly and helpful so will suggest alternatives if they don't have what you want.

Popped in for some lunch after our shop and couldn't find a counter or any staff. I went over to a table and found a menu and a QR code that said to order from your table, so I did...and I waited. Eventually I found a staff member and went up to ask about my order only to be told that some of it couldn't be made because it wasn't on the shelves even though the website says all made fresh in store? Then another member came out and said they didn't have my other items either, so I asked for a refund. It took 3 staff members to work out how to refund me from the till after originally being told they couldn't refund it because I ordered online, even though that's what you're told to do? I did eventually get my refund but the attitude of the staff originally and the lack of them from the start made this whole encounter so much worse. Why have the ability to order things that aren't available?

Waited over 30 mins for an order of poached eggs only for them to be served stone cold. They were then replaced with eggs that had been nuked within an inch of existence in a microwave. I don't come for fine dining but would have expected it to be edible!
Claire F — Google review
Ah Morrisons, where do I start? I mean, it's an in-store cafe so we're not looking for a Michelin Star but still... The food: It varies. But mostly the fried eggs are normally under-done and the bacon is loosely meat and more fat. We had a Builders Big Breakfast Bap last time we visited which is a novelty, with not practical way of eating it beyond dismantling it. But then it's dirt cheap, it isn't fine dining, it's just cafe grub. The service: I have a lot of sympathy for the staff here who are clearly over-worked at peak times. My advice is 'don't be rude' because ultimately you're still talking to another human. A few occasions I've been in and seen customers demanding to know where their food is in the most days way possible. Go here for coffee and light bites. Don't go here for large meals at peak times.
Chris — Google review
I thought I would have a quick cuppa whilst I had my car washed by Nibril and his team at the hand car wash. Whilst the cake was decent and the tea hot, the service was its usual awful self. Stood waiting to pay, three members of staff walked past. One (lauren) acknowledged me whilst carrying out a plate of food and said she will be right with me, another went and half heartedly started filling up the sugar etc whilst blanking me, another walked past and muttered to sugar girl 15ft away “can you serv mmmm mmmm” and pointed somewhere rushing off. Sugar girl carried in doing what she was doing. Laura came rushing back and popped into the kitchen with her hands full, sugar girl huffed and began to shuffle over to the till when Laura came back and took my money in a friendly manner. I thanked her for actually acknowledging me and serving me. Then I had the joy of asking sugar girl where the milk for the tea is, i can only presume she was sucking on a lemon whilst she thrust a tub towards me.. I say presume as she couldn't turn her head to loom at me. I dont often right reviews, I like Morrisons, but the service in this cafe made me want to vent a bit. Apart from Laura. I should have stayed out in the cold while my car was washed.
Andy S — Google review
The food is good value, but poor management is the problem. There are constant shortages, to an often ridiculous extent. The coffee machine not working. This happens again, and again. Then no cutlery. Then no cups, so paper cups are offered, Then these run out, and then there are no paper cups either. What do you do when your meal is served, and there are no knives and forks available ? Eat it with your fingers ? Or sit looking at it until it goes cold ? I don't know, and clearly Morrisons management don't know either. An atmosphere of hopeless resignation seems to be the default setting in the cafe. The staff are very good, but are labouring in the most chaotic of conditions.

Save your money and go to trailway around the corner . It was huge prices for absolutely terrible food . And you have to clock in a do a shift at work to eat there and they don't pay you to work while you eat . We ordered two breakfasts and they sent out one and then argued with me telling me that this one fry up was my order and they didn't have receipts from the the till and then the cheeky sod asked me to show her my banking app to prove my order was what I said it was . We didn't get a second fry up she gave us a plate so we could share the one fry up they had cooked . Even tho we had paid for two . I couldn't quite believe what was going on . Shocking and terrible services run by local idiots 🙄

Not very impressed with this Costa coffee. Tables weren’t being cleaned with loads of rubbish still on them. It was a Friday night, they had two staff on and they were working very slowly, each serving and making drinks with a huge queue of people waiting. The next day I came back and there were two people on but they were using the more efficient method of one taking the orders and the other making the drinks; there was hardly queue this time. Not a fault of Costa but the Moto advert announcements between the pipes music were so annoying!

The cafe feels really homely and they have their own fermented products on sale. They also sell tea blends and other drink blends! Highly recommend making a stop here even if it’s just for a drink.

Small entrance right next to Central station. Don't blink or you might miss it, like I did! Once inside it's quite roomy and airy. Food is fantastic. All the ingredients for healthy eating, and delicious at the same time. So many delicious-looking dishes to choose from I took a while to decide. Plumped for the curry bowl this time, delish. I've resolved to work my way through the menu one dish at a time. What an adventure. Bonus: the staff were friendly and welcoming too 😊

The food was delicious, not a big portion, so it might not fill you up with just one dish. The place is nice and convenient, not designed for you to stay for too long though, the seats are nice but after an hour, your back might start to hurt (old people like me). recommend it because the food is good and healthy and not too expensive.

Looking for vegan fair in Exeter, then look no further than the Daily Bowl. Such wonderfully prepared and tasty nourish bowls and the kombucha is excellent too. Super helpful staff and such a calming atmosphere. Dog friendly as well. Keep up the fantastic work 👏 👏👏

Very handy to pop in to grab some lunch before getting the train. Had the loaded flatbread and a cup of tea all for less than £10. Simply delicious, every mouthful a different flavour -could never make this at home. Absolutely loved it and I’m not vegan or vegetarian ☺️

So great, love everything in this cafe, amazing tasty healthy bowls, sweet treats, intersting hot and cold drinks, and all vegan and gluten free! So any options and love the little shop area where you can buy local sustainable products like kimchi, salad anc ve and chai mix, plus artisan chocolate, wow, daily bowl nailed it!

Shared Hummus Bowl and Dahl Bowl with my partner! Quite simply PERFECT! Wonderful to find such nutritious food that is so high on flavour and all GF! Just WOW!!!! The staff were helpful, friendly and welcoming and I love the communal type seating. I wish my home town of Worcester had something like this....

Between Bread is a charming spot that specializes in delectable cakes and offers a limited amount of country loaf sourdough made with organic UK-grown flour. The friendly staff provides excellent service, allowing guests to take their time choosing from a good selection of sandwiches, buns, drinks, and bakes like brownies. Customers rave about the top-tier offerings and fantastic flavor profiles.
Been meaning to try this spot in the town center for a while now. A lovely hidden gem in exeter and it did not disappoint! There was a line when we arrived and rightfully so. I got the chicken parm for £8.50 which was yummy and tasty. The bread was a bit too buttery and oily for my liking and it could have had more chicken however on the whole it was very enjoyable. Service was quick and attentive and whilst it was full there’s always enough seating for everyone. Will be back for sure and would recommend everyone try!

I worried this place would be all hype, but the sandwiches were amazing. The bread was springy, not soggy and had it had a nice crisp to it. The flavours on offer were very unique and the coffee was great. Friendly staff and speedy service

What an incredible sandwich house. Big. Punchy. Flavourful. Beautiful. Everything works together and the bread is toasted to perfection. Bacon & Egg is highly recommended by myself. Staff is friendly, cafe has a lovely, homely cosy vibe.

The beef brisket with dipping gravy was hand on heart the best sandwich I've ever had. I also had some of my partners egg and bacon sandwich and the egg was oozing and cooked to perfection. We were greeted so warmly by the owner and staff. Get there early to guarantee a table, 10/10 will be back again!

Got a takeaway while I was visiting. I LOVE Between Bread !!!!!🥖 I’m sad it’s not in London :( My friend and I got the Cold cuts - IT WAS SO GOOD 🙂‍↕️ Their homemade focaccia is GORGEOUS. My other friend got the Birria Beef - I think this is his go to - it comes with gravy as well !!!! Fire stuff. Atmosphere is l lovely and chill. Staff are kind and friendly. A must go in Exeter 📍

I’ve walked past this place literally for 2 years and finally went! It was everything I wanted it to be! The focaccia I got was very flavoursome and served quickly! The vibe is super relaxed and the girl who served me complimented me and was very kind :) I want to try the pina colada matcha next cuz that sounded delicious! The only thing I’d say is that because it’s an open area, if you stay for more than 30 mins you may leave smelling a bit like an oven. Nothing I’m too fussed about but just something to note. Overall I definitely recommend. Window seat is super cozy btw x

Such a cute little place. Amazing fresh sandwiches and great customer service, answered my questions about the ingredients and a warm goodbye on exit. Would definitely recommend, make sure you’re hungry, amazing portions!

The Undergrad is a popular café located in Exeter, close to student accommodations like The Depot and Printworks. It's known for its newly furnished, en-suite rooms and bougie atmosphere. The café serves breakfast until 3:30 pm, offering a variety of pastries, pancakes, and their signature Undergrad breakfast. With its charming aesthetics featuring fairy lights and abundant greenery, it's a favorite spot for both studying and socializing.
Great coffee and food. Amazing vibe. The plants and wooden furnitures offer a solid spot for solo or group studying. There are also ample outlets to keep you going, and polite signage reminding you to share space when it gets busy. The service was excellent, and bathroom clean and roomy! The food portions are also generous, and I am excited to become a regular here.

Delicious pistachio cream Duffin and a good soya flat white. Look at the care they took over the latte art? The staff really seemed to care and were friendly and efficient. The cafe was clean and modern, a great place to shelter on a cold windy day, Exeter being an ‘everything outdoors’ city.

We popped in here this morning and it was busy. Despite this, we were greeted with genuine smiles and really great service. My wife is Gluten Free, so we tried their coconut and pineapple muffin and the berry muffin, both were moist and really tasty. I would definitely recommend.

I was always a Starbucks girl but came here a few months back as the vibe seemed lovely and I wasn’t wrong. I have been back many many times! The team are so lovely, especially Imran, they all know me by name and my order. 10/10 customer service. Amazing muffins and the best ice latte ever!!!

A sweet little cafe at the heart of Exeter, in the Guildhall which always smells delicious. The chicken tikka sandwich/panini here is good and filling, but their desserts are the ones that make me keep going back. Their coffee cake, red velvet cake and their chocolate mud cake are all delicious. They do have offers on muffins everyday after 4. The prices range from £4 to £6 for desserts. A good option if you want to spoil yourself after a day of shopping!
Mehnaz A — Google review
Wow what to say just had an amazing lunch with my wife had the chicken tikka Yorkshire puddings wrap coffee and a blueberry muffin and dam it was good and the staff could not be more friendly and amazing service fast efficient and clean coffee was to die for the wrap filled me and was delicious! Coffee shop
Pret A Manger is a popular counter-serve chain known for its ready-made sandwiches, breakfast options, coffee, soups, and salads. The establishment offers a variety of food items catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. It provides a healthier alternative to fast food with fresh and on-the-go options. Customers can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere in the spacious seating area with amenities such as accessible Wi-Fi and plug sockets at almost every table.
Visited early on a Saturday morning before it was really busy, and had a friendly welcome and quick service. The shop was clean and comfortable. Not sure what it'd be like once it gets busy, but my experience was good.
Andrew T — Google review
I have been a fan of Pret a manger for many years, but today I experienced one of the worst cups of black coffee from a high street cafe chain. It was weak and had virtually no flavour or discernible taste. I make a better tasting drink at home with a simple caffetiere.
Rob E — Google review
I love Pret and always have done, food and drink are go to staples, for quality and in house experience which is often relaxing and calm at quieter periods. Staff are usually polite and quick at serving you. I discovered their toilet facilities are now unisex. I am not against a unisex cubicle (like the ones you see in fuel stations etc which are more like disabled toilets with soap water and dryer all inside) but Pret ones are completely shared spaces. So you go through the usual door of the facilities and inside there is a row of sinks, soap and dryers, and behind them are 3 toilet cubicles. So there are men and women washing their hands at the same row of sinks, which is odd. The cubicles have the ladies hygiene waste facilities in them but obviously covered in a smattering of male urine. Pret really needs to re think this method of shared spaces as it’s not working, it’s quite intimidating in such a small space! Both men and women look slightly embarrassed when they bump into each other coming and going from the facilities. It’s particularly upsetting if culturally you are used to having your own gender space, not to mention young girls, especially on their own.
Skater B — Google review
You pay extra to sit in despite still having a takeaway cup and no plate and no service. Tables are often dirty as customers clear their own tables but tables aren't wiped. Batistas are rude and blunt to customers waiting for drinks. Probably alright for a quick coffee on the go but not if you want to sit in for a nice coffee and chat with a friend. Prices are similar to independents but with an independent you get fat better service and a nicer atmosphere. Food is tasty but not worth the price and the coffee is mediocre
Amelia H — Google review
Worst experience,,,they just dump all expired foods during delivery. We are not animals to eat all the expired foods, oh my bad, even they don’t feed on that. People who are ordering from pret via delivery are not BINS

A centrally located Exeter Takeaway/ Eat-In place where the staff are helpful and friendly with a choice that includes vegan and vegetarian choices that aren't simply token additions to the menu. Principally a combination of "Wraps and SandwichesTake-Away" and "Coffee Place", "Pret a Manger", ("French: "Ready To Eat"), is an excellent choice should you need to grab a drink/snack in town. The food is fresh and of good quality with a very reasonable choice for the discerning palate and simple eater alike... Disabled very friendly, (I trundle around in a mobility scooter), the service is always efficient and speedy aware as they are of people's lack of much time during the working day... Bravo team Pret! I don't usually need to use public toilets, and never have at pret even when I was walking in the past... apparently they have unisex WC's which is a little bit of a shame as I'm pretty sure that at least a major percentage of men won't bother sitting down in an empathic way to prevent B.A.D.* *(Bad Aim Denial)

Shame for the bald male member of staff, so rude and confrontational about my support dog being with me and not having related tag on. Literally chased me around and made me feel very unwelcome

This is a friendly place developing as a real hub in the estate where you can obtain basics as well as enjoy a hot drink and snack. It even has lovely crafts produced locally. Lovely homely feeling to the place.

We're very lucky to have this community shop and cafe nearby. They have lots of great vegan options to eat in the cafe and oat lattes to drink in or takeaway. I'm often tempted by the hot vegan sausage rolls or pasties when I'm working from home too! Lots of vegan options in the shop as well which is handy if I've run out. Thanks to the staff and volunteers for a warm welcome too! Lots going on, we enjoyed the Christmas carols, thank you 😊
