Absolutely amazing! We started off with the Springbok Carpaccio, which I could not recommend enough. We then had the lamb ribs and seafood pasta. The lamb might just be the best lamb I’ve ever had in a restaurant. The lamb is juicy and just falls apart in your hands.

We ordered seafood platter for 2, it arrived super quickly, our food sat for a few minutes whilst our waiter fetched us our plates. We did ask for the extra line fish, it was presented well. We loved the grilled calamari tubes, hake and line fish, everything else wasn’t hot which was a real shame.

Our favourite restaurant in the whole world!!! We arrived as strangers and left as friends! This restaurant makes the best seafood pasta ever! Most amazing culinary experience with the best service!

“Above and beyond” - it is rare to find people who care like this in the world of hospitality. A simple breakfast with my family was elevated to a memorable experience by staff who know what they are doing and care. Well done!

Father's day lunch. Lovely setting, close to the ocean. Ordered different meals of which the best was the hake/calamari combo. The oxtail was ok as was the meat balls and mash, the two specials for the day. We were unfortunate to be seated close to an extremely loud patron that basically prevented out table from conversing but I suppose that's the luck of the draw.

Great service, great food, beautiful view! We went for breakfast at Burgundy and enjoyed it so much that we returned for dinner. We had the Eggs Benedict (which was fantastic) whilst sitting outside with a beautiful view of the ocean. For dinner we had the Patagonian calamari and seafood pasta (both dishes were also great) and sat inside in a quiet and cosy setting at the back. What stood out for me especially was the kindness, care and hospitality that the waiters have. Apart from our own waiter, I observed the same in the rest of the team as well and was very impressed. Will definitely want to return!

Great location overlooking the sea lovely view views and great for both nature watching and people watching!. I was only drinking but some of the reviews have put me off eating food there, plus although the service was friendly, it was incredibly slow. Asked twice for the bill, wasn’t forthcoming, one person serving, three other guys standing round talking. The guy who was serving me at ask someone else to get my check several times as they were too busy engaging with each other. Despite the fabulous location, the level of hygiene witnessed outside was poor, food debris on the floor not cleared up, sugar sachets on the floor, serviettes on the floor, straw paper on the floor, not cleared up, with waiters walking past and not clearing. Tables cleared despite now and sitting there. A shame as this could be an amazing venue with the right attention and care from the staff. See pictures on the food debris on the floor. I mentioned that Service was poor and slow when I paid and was surprised that a tip was still expected. No response to my comment.

We had a great (birthday) lunch at Dutchies yesterday. We sat outside on the benches and had stunning views of the mountain and the ocean. The cocktails and food were delicious, and our waitron also gave us fabulous service. 👌

We have been at Dutchies tonight, which was the by far most windy day you could imagine. They had mobile heaters and scarves for us, so it was not too cold. The staff is very polite, the location is looking quite nice and the meal was delicious. We would come back if we had stayed longer at Hermanus.

Always a hit! Food is consistently good, the atmosphere: always a great vibe and the fact that it’s across from one of the most beautiful beaches is a bonus. Added bonus is that our wonderful waitress accommodated our dog who is reactive (1 year old collie, you know why I mean). She brought her water and treats and just carried on like it was platting her job. Thank you ♥️ we’ll come back when she’s grown out of this phase.

Had the best fresh whole Sea Bream on this sunny first day of spring ever! Perfectly prepared! What a way to welcome in the new season. Impeccable service and personal attention. Even for our locals, very affordable. Highly recommend!

The bitterballen were great! The hake and chicken was out of stock, so I opted for the fillet. I was happy it turned out that way, because the fillet was excellent. Cooled to perfection and the chef prepared a pepper sauce for me, which was also great

Nice family run restaurant and bar. Plenty of parking and right next to blue flag beach 'Grotto beach'. Food was pretty good, service was friendly and quite quick. Plenty of people in when we ate, from a varied selection both in age and from different walks of life. Good alternative to going all the way to Hermanus waterfront

As you walk in you’re greeted with views of the harbour and a wide selection of seating areas, each with their bit of a view. The menu is limited but the options are all rock solid and don’t leave you feeling overwhelmed. We had the Thai Green Vegetables, Chicken Livers, Calamari and chips, Fish and chips to eat and each were well presented and hot. Flavours were great and nothing disappointed. Ended with Crème Brûlée which was done perfectly and some incredible coffee’s which was a pleasant surprise as normally the coffee from most restaurants is average at best. 100% recommended and can’t fault anything, well done to the venue 👏🏼 We’ll definitely be back!

Hit and Miss Experience at The Rock, Hermanus New Harbour Beautiful view and amazing decor and venue! We had dinner at The Rock, and unfortunately, the experience was very inconsistent. The seafood chowder was a real let-down … it tasted like fish-flavored béchamel with no creaminess and no visible fish. Service was equally disappointing … our waitress disappeared for long stretches, preferring to chat with colleagues rather than attend to the table, and when engaged, seemed more interested in arguing than assisting. Sides were puzzling … frozen chips at a seafood restaurant? Not acceptable. That said, the fish itself was excellent … beautifully cooked, the batter light and crisp, with clean, high-quality oil. The tartare sauce was also spot-on. Desserts didn’t redeem the meal the crème brûlée was a tiny portion with an overly thick sugar crust, offering poor value. The malva pudding was dry, overloaded with ginger, and inexplicably served without custard. Overall, the kitchen clearly has talent with fish, but service standards, menu execution, and dessert quality need serious work. Sadly, not an experience I’d rush back for?

During our visit to Hermanus, a lot of people mentioned that we should give this place a visit. So you would imagine thee excitement. We got here during the golden hour, beautiful views and lovely setup. We put our orders through which was sushi for starters, calamari and creamy mussels for mains. Our waiter disappeared on us, we could see our sushi sitting on the counter. Eventually found our waiter and he brought the sushi 40min later. By this time, the sun has set and our mains have not arrived. Eventually the food came after we asked our waiter to please check what's going on. 1hr later, the food arrived. Calamari was decent. The mussels were okay, but the cream was weak and runny, tasted off (had a coconut after taste) returned the dish, finished the calamari and left. The best part of the experience was the amazingly fresh sushi and the views.

Easy to describe: We need to go there again. If you like sushi- go there! Great team, great wine, perfect sushi! Really fantastic! Thx to the team again- see you next year!

A friendly welcome, and we got a table even though we arrived a little early. Excellent food, very friendly and informative service – they even upgraded our seafood platter for two so we could feed three of us. Highly recommended!

A Memorable afternoon at The Rock! My partner and I had a wonderful dining experience at The Rock in Hermanus, South Africa. The restaurant provided the perfect setting for a special afternoon out. For our mains, I ordered the lamb shank, which was absolutely delicious - tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My partner enjoyed the grilled Hake, which was equally impressive and clearly prepared with care. We couldn’t resist trying dessert, and we’re so glad we did. We shared a crème brûlée and a mousse, both of which were the perfect sweet ending to our meal. The crème brûlée had that satisfying caramelized top, while the mousse was light and indulgent. The overall experience at The Rock was excellent, and we’d highly recommend it to anyone visiting Hermanus. We’ll certainly be back!

The view is magnificent! The layout of the restaurant is spacious and classy. The food is delicious. They have an extensive menu and vegetarian options.

The baked cheese cake was truly exceptional - creamy, rich, and utterly divine. The croissant was equally impressive, with layers of flaky pastry that simply melted in my mouth. Both were clearly made with love and care, and it showed in every bite. The dirty chai was a real treat, with the perfect balance of spices and espresso. It was rich, creamy, and utterly delicious.

A delightful stop. Just opposite the cliff path in Hermanus. Outside and inside setting. Little doggie was allowed outside. Very smart inside. The menu is vast, breakfast ends at 11.30. We had brunch. It's called a patteseri, not sure why as the only pastry available was a croissant..it was heavenly though Served with preserve and cheese and butter. Ginger tea and honey on the offer as well. A view of the ocean, added a unique touch.

A bad experience indeed. We entered at 15:25 and were immediately told at the door that they actually close at 4pm. No problem for us, I said, as we only came for a quick coffee and cake. At 15:40 the cleaner started mopping the floor around us, moving her bucket with filthy water all around our table while having a loud conversation with her colleague who was using the table next to us to fold & stack napkins or tablecloths. More people entered from the ocean side and were told by the cleaner that they need to sit somewhere else as she is busy there. Should cleaning and prep not be done after actual business hours? We had good coffee and great carrot cake within a disgusting atmosphere.

This place turned out to be the perfect breakfast place for us. Huge variety of food and freshly pressed juices. The staff were fantastic. Located on marine drive with fab views of the bay. Definitely worth a visit. The owner was a lovely lady with a wealth of information on where to visit in surrounding towns, the whales common to the area, how to get a taxi. She was brilliant!

Great bistro with excellent food. How hard is to make a fry egg? They managed to make it "Perfect". The breakfast was superb, great mushrooms, fry tomatoes and sausage. The bacon was good, perhaps not as crunchy as I like, but excellent nevertheless. Down size ? The coffee. The cappuccino was a coffee with milk, nothing close to a cappuccino l. The coffee as well as the hot chocolate were weak. Prices are in the higher-end, but the service, quality of food and view (just infront of the whale coast) justify it. Recommended.

I love just pure. I’ve been eating their amazing chicken salad since I was a little boy - would definitely recommend. Their breakfasts are also very good. I love the eggs benedict (I add bacon which makes it even more delicious). Just pure has a breathtaking view of the ocean. Their prices are also quite good. I would definitely recommend popping in at the gift shop to treat yourself or a buy a last minute gift.

Cute and Dainty looking, very relaxed vibe (we came in for breakfast) and I'm sure we'll visit again when we're in the area. Food was delicious and filling (I ordered the Benedict with smoked trout ribbons & hubby had the classic bistro breakfast)

A gem and a must visit!!! I was very impressed with the delicious classic breakfast - a feast. The waitress Enny was super friendly and very helpful. The outside tables offer breathtaking sea views You will not be disappointed.

The food was good.! Attendants are very friendly and helpful with figuring out the allergies. One less star has no vegan dessert. But all else good. Washroom is shared with many restaurants, but is very clean.

We had a lovely lunch and the scenic beauty Is breath taking with live music playing by locals. Couples dancing casually. Walking the pets.Its kids friendly and wheelchair friendly too.

Great food indeed...both me and wify had burgers mine had bacon and chedermelt sauce hers had avo on. Mmmmm was delicious, daugter had the fusion nachos...and wot a treat it was indeed. Waiter was very friendly and helpful even moving us to the inside. Dont know if that was the owner but thanks for guiding me to the toilets ....your words was I only have a kitchen which was very funny 😁. Place Overall was nice and clean will definitely come back again when we that side. Keep up the good food and staff.

Had breakfast here while participating in a volunteer program with Marine Dynamics (excellent program). The staff here was fabulous. Friendly and professional. The avocado toast was delicious. The view was spectacular. I felt spoiled just relaxing and sipping my coffee. Hermanus is a wonderful place and Fusion is a great restaurant.

We visited the Fusion, and we enjoyed a great dinner. We were served by Proud, a very kind guy , very quick and smiling. I loved the coliflower with sweet sauer sause, delicious. All fried fish is TOP!

We had a quick stop here, a lovely setting with a sea view. Beautiful lawns surrounding and a quick walk to Hermamus cliff walk. We had burgers. Great cocktails availailable the waiter made a choice for me. The dom Pedro, was a bit too sweet for me. Otherwise everything was great.

One of the best breakfasts we’ve had during our travels in South Africa. The Wednesday early bird breakfast was perfect! Tea/coffee, eggs, bacon, sourdough and tomato all for R60! Great service, a beautiful cafe with amazing art work and atmosphere. We loved the fire places and lots of outdoor seating. Only started getting busy around 10am. All of the bakery good were wonderful too! 10/10 experience, would highly recommend!!

Delicious fried fish and salad (I opted for no chips), enough for the very hungry or to share😆… with a delicious cappuccino. The pastries looked divine🫶🏻💓. I immediately made a reservation for the Sunday lunch. Thank you for friendly service.

We loved visiting Biga, it was such a lovely cozy atmosphere, especially with the fireplace in the corner! The breakfast specials they had were affordable and very yummy, the hot chocolate was the stuff of dreams! They also have a really nice variety of bakery items on offer, we tried the mini carrot cake and the mini apple pie, both were delicious!

Very Disappointed. When we arrived, we were greeted unenthusiastically. We did not feel welcome but could understand as the restaurant was fairly busy, even so there were at least 4 or 5 waitresses on duty. We found a table for 2 towards the back of the restaurant, near the kitchen. The table had not been cleared but we didn't mind. Our waitress, Margret, cleared a cup or two off the table and left, we moved everything else to the big empty table beside us after waiting a moment for her to come back. The table was sticky but we were understanding as we did chose to sit there. However, it would have been a kind gesture for her to offer to wipe down our table. Menus were put down without much word. It felt as if we were an inconvience. The coffee was exceptional and brought out within minutes. After we had ordered, we waited a while for our food to arrive. Food arrived beautifully but was ice cold which was a shame. During our meal, we watched the baker at work which was fantastic. Very impressed with the level of skill he showcased. Sadly not all were as professional, as we sat down, we watched a table having their order taken, while their waitress openly chewed gum. Fourtunalty our waitress did eventually give us a smile and was friendly, unfortunately it was only when it was time to pay. I was very dishartned as it was a sad start to what would have been a great birthday breakfast. I normally would not have written a review but I had great expectations, now all I am left with is disappointment and stomach ache. I do not recommend the restaurant although the bakery itself is lovely.

Such a nice place, but needs a manager that is on top of things. Service is lack lustre, disinterested waiters, mediocre, cold pie and the coffee was just off. Bought a sweet treat for later, but it was basically icing with biscuit pieces in it. And a glazed cherry on top with an odd fishy smell. So much potential here though. Common guys, get it right!

I treated myself to a Benedict breakfast with a side order of 'trout ribbons' and was disappointed to find a chunk of smoked trout on my plate. The portion was small with 'rustic' presentation but the taste was sensational. I was asked how I would like my poached eggs done and I asked for medium.. I was disappointed to receive the usual runny type but flavours melded beautifully. The coffee was average and service was sloppy, I did notice a power cut during my visit however so perhaps that impacted service. I believe there is better value for money to be had in Hermanus for breakfast, but I appreciated the distinctive flavours of the dish.

We stopped by Onshore after whale watching and it was such a lovely surprise! The toasties were super tasty, the coffee was excellent, and the cakes were fresh and delicious. The place feels really cosy, and the staff were warm and welcoming.

Fantastic breakfast! The avocado sourdough with scrambled eggs and the shakshuka were both delicious. The coffee was excellent, and the pastéis de nata were some of the best we’ve had outside of Portugal. Highly recommended!

The service is fantastic, the baristas know the clients' choice of drinks perfectly well, everything you eat from their sourdough sandwiches to their lovely desserts are super tastefull.

Best Pasteis De Nata you will find. Excellent speciality coffee. Do yourself a favour and make a stop here. They bake ALL their bread, cakes, biscuits and pastries in a wood fired oven. Lovely staff!

Cute little spot very unpretentious and relaxed. arrive in your pjs and be prepared to be blown away by the most delicious pastries and croissants. Had a wonderful time at Oscar's Bakery. Their coffee was recommended by a friend and they lived up to expectation. Great coffee. We topped it up with an apple slice and caramel cheesecake. All and all a wonderful experience.

A hustling coffee shop in central Hermanus. We were on a weekend away and googled pet friendly coffee shops. The weather was great, and we sat outside. You have to order inside, they give you a number and wait in your order. We had breakfast croissants, which was delicious. The coffee was great. The lady behind the counter seemed a bit harried, but she managed a smile when I joked with her. The delivery was prompt and a really nice guy. All in all a delightful experience. Thank you

I really appreciate coffee shops which have a water fountain especially in places like Hermanus where the water from the tap comes from the mountain. It beats any bottled water and leaves no foot print. Well done.

I have never been one to “order and the counter” when eating at a restaurant, so…. I must mention that the service was fast, and the food was tasty! The location is also good for a bite when doing other shopping.

Good coffee and cakes, pity about unfriendly staff specifically behind counter lady. A friendly smile and a welcome greeting as your front of house would go a long way in creating a better experience.

Shocking service. They not even full and i had to wait over 20 minutes for 2 coffees to arrive! Service unfriendly. Waited another 5 minutes to get my refund as i had to even prepay. Even at that time coffee still not ready. Don't bother unless you got all afternoon to wait

A lovely location with a relaxing ambience, and a beautiful view of the mountain and ocean. I got the seafood basket. Unfortunately, it was a bit heavy on the chips. For the price, I was expecting way more seafood than I received. We had a lovely and friendly waitron, Cathrine. :) loved her sense of humour and making our experience funny and enjoyable.

The food took over an hour to arrive and when it did it looked so disappointing, the server was kind though, I ordered a burger which cost 150 rand and it looked like something that shouldn’t cost more than 60 rand, the cheese on the burger looked like something no one should put in their mouth and the pasta my girlfriend had was overcooked and the sauce tasted worse than some cheap store bought bolognaise sauce which for 130 rand is completely unacceptable. The chicken strips were okay but nothing to rave about and at the 120 rand price it was ridiculous. There was a leak in the ceiling next to where we were sitting as well. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone especially because there’s other restaurants in the area like Char’d grill and bar that served us amazing burgers for cheaper than the one I had here. I’m never going to eat here again and I seriously don’t recommend anyone else to waste a meal and their money on this horrible food. Replying to the owners comments: I’m a big burger guy and I can say for certain what I had was not a 180 gram patty first of all, secondly I said the sauce was worse than a store bought bolognaise sauce not that it was bolognaise. I left a tip because the server we had was very kind and I didn’t complain about the food to her as it isn’t her fault it was as bad as it was. If you look below my name you will see that this is my first ever review because I do not typically review places I eat at, my girlfriend usually does that. BUT this time I was so incredibly disappointed with the food and the price of the food that I wrote my first ever review on a restaurant before I even left the place because I couldn’t get over how bad it was. I am not just slandering your restaurant for fun, it has genuinely been the worst non fast food burger I’ve had in YEARS. And you as the owner attacking me based on my experience just solidifies that I’m going to recommend everyone I know not to ever eat at your restaurant. To anyone reading this go eat at Charr’d Grill and wine bar nearby, the service there is great and their food is amazing, our server Bianca served us twice when we went there and both times we were amazingly pleased with the food and even bought some of their signature sauce to take home. Wooden barrel is seriously the bottom of the barrel in the area and for the amount they charge the burgers and pasta are bad and not worth it. I can’t speak on the seafood as I didn’t have any but like I said I’m never going back so I guess I’ll never know.

Restaurant Review: The Wooden Barrel We recently had lunch at The Wooden Barrel, and our experience was highly enjoyable. Our waitress, Catherine, provided excellent service—she was professional, attentive, and had a warm personality. For our meal, we ordered: • Fish and Prawns • Butternut Soup • Sole Meunière The presentation of the food was appealing, and the flavors did not disappoint. The butternut soup was well-prepared, with a smooth texture and a rich, comforting taste. The Fish and Prawns dish was cooked to perfection, and the sauce complemented the seafood beautifully. The sole meunière was particularly impressive—soft, flavourful, and generously portioned. To end our meal, we enjoyed a salted caramel milkshake, which was a delightful way to finish our dining experience. Overall, The Wooden Barrel provided great food and service, making it a restaurant worth visiting.

We were met at the entrance by Francois, what a cheerful chap. No pushing or advertising, just answering questions. We sat outside. There was a lovely cool breeze to keep us cool. We ordered sandwiches and coffees. It was so nice to see the Costa brand advertised. Toasties starting at R55.00 were not going to break the bank. I can imagine that when the tourist season starts they are going to do very well. Thanks Francois for making our visit a memorable one.

Friendly staff and good food! We had the margarita pizza, cheese burger with well spiced chips and crispy onion rings. But the ribs & chips are the star of the show! The excellent view and calm atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon is an added bonus. It’s also pet friendly and our doggy was served with a bowl of water. 10/10 would definitely recommend!

Givemore, our waiter, went ABOVE AND BEYOND, to accommodate us. His knowledge on the food also very commendable. And so friendly! We met the owner who is very humble. Our dinner was EXCELLENT!! Well worth every bite 😋 Highly recommended! Go give them a try - restaurants in Cape Town could learn a lot about customer service if they take a page out of Wooden Barrel’s Book.

What a delightful establishment. I feel in love with it. Our waitress, Stephanie, is a true gem. She was warm and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and made us feel at home instantly. We went for dinner both nights we were in Hermanus. Our food was delish. Large portions that arrived at the table much quicker than expected. I have nothing other than praise for Stephanie. I will highly recommend this establishment to anyone looking for a comfortable place to spend time. Loved it. Thank you for all.

There are plenty restaurants or coffee shops but our random choice fell on this one. Our entrance was welcoming and friendly. It seems that in this vacinity menus are written on blackboards and placed all over the place. Service was professional but would have liked that the volume of food could be a bit more. Inside or outside seatings are available. Did not investigated the cleaniness of the restrooms. This "Kitchen" is commendable.

Settled for a light breakfast and was not disappointed. Eggs made to order were perfect, coffee was delicious, and so were the toasted sandwiches Service was a little slow due to the restaurant being full. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are extremely friendly and charming. It is a lovely quaint venue, steeped in history - I do recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed 👌

From the warm welcome to quick service, the quirky quota on blackboards done in coloured chalk, to the good coffee and amazing tomato and olive quiche, it’s a wonderful refuelling hideaway with indoor and outdoor seating

With breakfast being my favourite meal of the day, the menu and vibe at Candi's was worth every moment spent there. We were a tour group of 9px ending a 2 week tour across the Garden Route and we were delighted by the cosy and cute garden, awesome service from our waiters and warm welcome from the chef. Breakfast was a variety of gourmet omelettes, eggs Benedict, savory pancakes, poached eggs with avo and served on grilled aubergine as well as grilled cheese and tomato sandwich on farm baked bread. The coffee was perfect too. Love this place and will definitely be back again.

Linda at Milkwood was an absolute life saver, as she was 1 of very few venues that could accommodate 2 couples at 9pm at night. The rooms very spacious, clean and comfortable. The property offers a swimming and braai area, which is ideal for longer summer stays.

Wow! Linda is such an excellent host,so kind,so welcoming! My family and I visited Hermanus for the first time this past weekend and we stayed at Milkwood Lodge, the place exceeded our expectations! Our cottage was very clean, and it had everything we needed.Our kids were able to run around freely and play. We celebrated our daughter's 2nd birthday at the lodge and it really felt like home away from home. The most impressive thing is the fact that the host is always on the property, she was always ready to assist when we needed help. The cottage was very beautiful, big and clean. We will definitely stay there again when we visit Hermanus, Linda is the best, their breakfast is delicious and she is very patient and understanding because we had special requests for our toddler and she was always willing to help.

It was a last minute booking. Linda was welcoming and settled us in a immediately. Rooms was spacious, bedding was clean and fresh, view of the mountain was stunning and the breakfast was a 10/10. Car was parked securely on the property. Totally recommend this place!

Host was so friendly and accommodating! We arrived late from Mossel Bay and she set up everything so we could come in and slee straight away. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, pancakes, amazing fruit bowl and great service. Overall great experience!

Easy to find, friendly, informal and very effective accueuil. Cleanliness! Everything was pristine. Breakfast buffet very tasty, coffee freshly brewed and selection left nothing to hope for. The walk down to the Grotto beach definitely worth getting up at sunrise. Good job!

Wonderful place, with all facilities in the kitchen, bathrooms, rooms. It's clean and beautiful and a short drive or walk to the beach and a mall. The kitchen is wonderful and you sort of feel like you are actually home. The host Linda is really nice.

The food was tasty, and definitely try the waffle sandwich. The cappuccino was warm (nice).......the view was exceptional, but what stood out was the service. With only 1 server to cover all tables, the lady did an excellent job, and it was busy (what is with this, the owners must really sort this out).

A beautiful breakfast in a gorgeous, relaxed stetting with perfect service. We had the Turkish Poached Eggs which were so flavoursome and cooked to perfection - chef's kiss! My husband had the Berry Smoothie Bowl, fresh and filling. Great value for money and friendly service. Highly recommend.

I went their for breakfast with some friends Their savoury French toast was well-made but could use some sweetness. Their breakfast croissant was tasty and quite filling. The mango smoothie was freshly prepared and the chocolate milkshake was decadent. Overall, their food was good, nothing too fancy nor outstanding so it's a nice place for a quick and small bite.

Very nice view,cozy and comfortable. Food was great not so much staff. By drink was forgotten and had to order again. But otherwise very nice place, just little dissipline maybe with staff required.

Ocean Creek Spur has one of the best locations in the Whale Coast Mall – right at the entrance to the Food Court and central in the mall – and as result they attract many people. The food is typical Spur – it’s good, well done and there are no surprises if you are familiar with the brand. But at this particular Spur, there were some shortcomings. On a Saturday that was busy but not congested, our food order was placed at 14:13 and it only arrived at 14:47. This is not up to the Spur standard I would argue. In fact, at other Spur branches, it is uncommon to wait longer than 20 minutes. As a server, Zizipho did a good job and she was friendly and polite but she seemed overwhelmed running to and from the kitchen so perhaps management should ensure they have the correct staff numbers to cater to times when the restaurant is more crowded than expected. The bathrooms were clean and you can see that they are inspected. There’s also good outside seating under shade for those who prefer that.

I was very disappointed with my recent experience at this Spur. Last night, I ordered three milkshakes to take away: two vanilla and one salted caramel. I asked the waiter if the salted caramel milkshake was very sweet, and she assured me that it wasn’t. However, she had difficulty finding the salted caramel option in the system and asked other waiters if they sold it. I even showed her the menu to confirm that Spur does offer the salted caramel milkshake. When my order was ready, I received two milkshakes and an iced drink. I was fine with waiting while they fixed the order and ended up paying for the additional milkshake. I only paid for the milkshake because I didn’t want the waiter to cover the cost, which was R53.90. However, I noticed that the waiter who assisted me didn’t actually place the new milkshake order into the system; she only entered the amount for the milkshake from the menu into the card machine, seemingly treating that as her tip. Once I got home and tried the milkshake, I live 5 min away, I found its consistency to be similar to that of a Steri Stumpie, rather than the thick milkshake I had enjoyed previously from this Spur. For the price of R46.90 - R53.90 per milkshake, I expect better quality than one that costs R18. To my surprise, the salted caramel milkshake was excessively sweet, making it undrinkable. Overall, I was very disappointed with the service I received from the waiter, her knowledge of the menu, and the quality of the milkshakes.

29 Sept 2025 I'd have given zero stars if it were possible. My colleague and I went to grab a bit to eat while waiting for our staff transport, we arrived and placed our orders around 15h35, by 16h55 we had still only received our drinks. We stopped a Manager to enquire about our order, we were told it's on it's way (his exact words, 2 mins 3 tops as it's being prepped) there after he avoided our table and us, we waited and eventually asked our waitress, who was really such a sweet girl, she apologized and was given an earful by the table behind us, (we weren't the only table waiting forever for our meal) Really poor Management skills, as the Manager, one couldn't be honest with us regarding our order and sent that poor young lady to deal with angry customers, who HE promised "2 to 3 mins". We got up and left, stopped to pay for the drinks we had, the young man (with curly hair) apologised and offered our drinks on the house, but the lady standing at the till, gosh, she barely looked up at us and looks as if we swore at her. Such an unfortunate experience, we ended up going to MC Donald's. We still feel bad for the young waitress, she was clearly out of her depth and big ups to the young man who tried to save the situation. Manager was walking up and down avoiding eye contact. Next time, just be honest about the situation, I'd prefer being given the choice to stay and wait, don't lie to your customers then send out your young staff to clean up your mess. Pity I didn't get the manager's name or the sour lady at the door's tills name, hopefully she's not a hostess.

Such tranquility with trees and plants, a grape plantation and servings of delicious and scrumptious food, great hosting and comfortable seating, it's truly a place to visit and experience.

The 3 stars for atmosphere is not your fault. Too many kids running around, I don't like kids. Felicia was our server. She constantly came to check if we're okay, if the food is delicious or if we need water. It's too far, but if I'm in the area again, I'll pop in

We visited Spur-Whale coast mall with my family, the food was really GOOD and our waitress Andisiwe went far and beyond for us she is such a wonderful soul.

We had an absolutely outstanding experience at The Station in Hermanus. The highlight of our evening was without a doubt our waiter, Johann. His knowledge about the food was exceptional – he could tell us in detail how each dish was prepared, the origin of the ingredients, and even explained the process behind the salt they use. He made spot-on recommendations and guided us through the menu with so much passion and professionalism, which truly elevated our dining experience. The vibe of the restaurant strikes the perfect balance between laid-back and sophisticated – relaxed enough to feel comfortable, yet with a touch of elegance that makes the evening feel special. The food itself was simply excellent, beautifully presented, and bursting with flavor. Thanks to Johann’s attentiveness and expertise, combined with the amazing atmosphere and cuisine, this was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in South Africa. Highly recommended!

Absolutely the best breakfast I have had in a LONG time. Anita was super friendly and everyone was kind and accommodating with my Little. The avacado toast was amazingly fresh, scones delicious and oj incredible. I will ABSOLUTELY be back again. With love from Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The café is beautifully decorated – really cute and full of lovely details! 🩷 The breakfast was absolutely delicious: the coffee was perfect, the orange juice fresh, and the granola simply amazing. The staff were super friendly and welcoming, and the whole atmosphere was so cozy and inviting. Definitely a place I’d love to come back to – highly recommended!

I've been to all the special breakfast places in Stanford and Hermanus, really loved them, but this restaurant blows all the other out of the water. Divine and surprising taste combinations all presented with aesthetic 'taste' too. The staff are lovely, especially Johanne, a musician who is also undercover as General Manager. The chef is gifted. Wonderful find.

Excellent food and service. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a relaxed evening with good wine and food. I tried their roasted courgette and anchovy pizza (Thursdays are 2 pizzas or 2 burgers for R250) and it was delicious! I can’t wait to return and try out all the other dishes.

The iced tea was very refreshing, and the avocado toast was absolutely delicious. Johan’s service was excellent — he was attentive, patient, and took the time to explain the dishes in detail. Great experience, highly recommend!

Last day in Hermanus, Saturday a week ago, breakfast at the Station Bistro. First time and definitely not the last one…! Avo on toast and a classic eggs and bacon… for 3 of us. Yum! And the coffee. Picabelo!

Love this place. Easily missed. Superb coffee, tasty croissants and beautiful light lunch options. Savoury pancake with tuna mayo filling really nice, too big for the missus so I had to help. Excellent staff, pleasure to deal with... Don't walk by!

Service here is amazing! BUT the french toast was a huge let down! Flat, boring bread with a pathetic sprinkle of powdered sugar. Bland and just sad.

Had the most delicious breakfast bagel, eggs and bacon. So full of flavor and the croquettes were a lovely added touch. Coffee was pretty good too!

Popped in for a coffee and quick breakfast. Had a good experience and coffee was nice. Slice of toast was extremely thin though, but otherwise everything was good. They were also one of the few places open over new years for breakfast

We ordered a last minute cake for my daughter’s birthday and they were so accommodating and baked a divine chocolate cake! The people working there are so friendly and nice and it’s such a cosy atmosphere as well. We didn’t try anything else but it definitely looks like a great place to sit down and eat at!

A quaint little cafe with some views over the bay...lots of choices for coffee, hot choc, smoothies, milkshakes etc...serving cakes & pastrys etc...we went for the breakfast menu...had the croissant with scrabbled eggs & slice of bacon for R90...the croissant was not fresh & was dry & quite small actually...if you even slightly hungry would not recommend this...the pouched egg on a bun was not too bad though but again also quite small sauce was lovely...

The salted caramel cheesecake is absolutely heavenly ! Pretty little restaurant, very pleasant to sit and enjoy the fresh sea breeze.
