Nestled in the heart of Flintshire, The Fat Boar is a charming two-level pub that exudes nostalgia with its eclectic decor and inviting beer garden. This lively gastropub has become a favorite among locals and visitors alike, offering an impressive menu that highlights traditional British fare made from locally sourced ingredients. Diners can indulge in classic dishes such as fish and chips or savor more refined options like grilled lamb chops.
Lovely lively place on a Saturday evening. Great live music and helpful bar staff. Excellent drinks selection and plenty of seating both indoors and outside too. Food looked very tasty when seeing other people ordering but we didn't have anything. Cool decor and great vibes. Would definitely recommend!

We went to this place for a few drinks, and they were really nice. I wish the staff had been a bit more attentive, though. We were sitting for a while and no one even came to ask if we needed anything. In the end, we just walked to the bar to order drinks.
Muhammad — Google review
Menu was interesting but there were no soft drinks available. Burger was cold, undercooked and the bread bun was stale. There was no salt on any tables. Pudding also had to be sent back as it came with extras on it that were not listed on the menu. Ordered the Belgian waffles, but they arrived covered in unrecognisable red berries, waiter insisted they had been listed but as you see on the menu below they were not They did bring a replacement with no berries but everyone else on my table had finished by then. Restaurant was sticky, dusty and pretty unclean (see photo) dirty streaks down wall and cobwebs. Plates and cutlery were sticky and unclean. Chairs are very uncomfortable and too high for the small tables. Music was weird and loud. All in all a terrible place for anyone with sensory issues, and staff were polite but quite useless. Was a shame as this was a special meal when meeting up with family so experience for me was ruined.

Looked forward to a roast dinner as we had never had a bad dinner sadly we were disappointed we sent the meal back as it was almost cold! Starters were excellent drinks order were fast but the whole experience was let down by the food which didn't look like anything you seen on the menu the plate was swimming in gravey and food was pile on the plate the service was excellent i did tell them we didn't enjoy the meal plus later l email them and they said they would pass it on to the kitchen staff for the future the food as always been top notch but we wouldn't be having a Sunday roast there again
David B — Google review
Great stop for lunch. The size of the meals and quality 👌 I'd happily pay more for the meal we received. The pie was one of the best Pies I've had in the UK and it was only £10 for the plate of food. Friendly service and dining in a relaxed atmosphere.
Cameron D — Google review
Thank you so much foe a wonderful afternoon at the Bottomless Brunch! The staff were absolutely fabulous and could not fault the service. Drinks were flowing very well. A great selection of drinks, cocktails & mock tails for us non drinkers. The food was amazing and the chicken and waffles was a favourite all round. The Maitre'd seemed to have had a fab time also and was great on the Karaoke. What a great idea to have Shaggerada as a hostess as she was amazing and very funny! We laughed for the the whole 2 hours! One criticism from us all is that it wasn't long enough! Thank you again and we look forward to seeing what events you have on in the future. A great venue and highly recommended!! All our love The Toybox Girls

Came here with my husband and our two kids for a meal. My husband’s food came out about 10 minutes before anyone else’s, so the rest of us just sat there waiting with two hungry kids. When the kids’ meals finally arrived, they seemed to enjoy them at least. My food came out covered in coriander (which wasn’t mentioned on the menu), so I had to send it back. When it came back, it was barely warm. It was called a “posh kebab” maybe the coriander made it posh, but honestly, it was nothing special. Edible, just not good. The kids’ desserts were supposed to be included with the meal deal, but the server didn’t even realise we’d ordered them. We had to remind her, and then waited ages again for them to come out. Service in general was poor — plates sat on the table for ages before being cleared, and the staff didn’t seem to have any customer service training. My wine was barely cold and served in a Aperol Spritz glass because they’d run out of wine glasses. Feels like this place relies on the fact there aren’t many other options in Wrexham. Poor service and food.

Good price lunch menu with a choice of drinks included. Also served the main menu and a specials menu so plenty to choose from. Attentive service from the time the food and drinks were served to receiving the bill.

Grace was our server, she was fantastic and an incredible asset to the restaurant. She helped us choose our food despite being super busy serving others during a busy Saturday afternoon. The food was, as anticipated, wonderful. But I felt compelled to leave a review just to commend Grace as she made it perfect. Thank you grace!
Nicola V — Google review
Whenever in Wrexham, come over to The Bank! Amazing food, very good wines and a good vibe. I had the lamb chops, seabass & garlic bread. The best I've eaten in years! Bold unexpected combinations, but all of them spot on. After this I wasn't hungry anymore, but I had to try some dessert. Again here I was pleasantly surprised with the pavlova. Not what I expected, but even better!

A perfect post-match dinner and the highlight of our trip to Wrexham. After a Wrexham football match, my wife and I headed to The Bank Restaurant—and even though they were fully booked, the owner, Alex, welcomed us with incredible hospitality and found a way to make room for us. The restaurant has a cozy, romantic atmosphere. Alex recommended a fantastic bottle of wine that paired perfectly with everything we ordered. We ended up enjoying a relaxed, two-hour dinner that felt more like an experience than just a meal. The duck hash and chicken tacos were absolute standouts—flavorful, beautifully plated, and cooked to perfection. But truthfully, everything we tasted from the menu was excellent. Throughout the evening, Alex and the wait staff checked in on us often, always warm and attentive, treating us like family. It was the perfect way to wrap up our time in Wrexham. Can’t recommend this place enough—we’ll definitely be back next time we’re in town.
Ben L — Google review
I was given a friendly welcome and during my visit I tried one of the small plate dishes they serve - seabass with mussels, coconut and massaman, served on a bed of tenderstem broccoli. The plate might have been small but the portion was generous and beautifully tasty. Highly recommended.
John G — Google review
Absolutely gorgeous, we have just been for a meal, 7 of us. I've never been before, menu was great, lots to choose from. The two staff who looked after us, Will and Eva, were absolutely lovely, super helpful, service was great! Food and drinks were DELICIOUS and the atmosphere is lovely and chill. Thank you again for having us, will definitely be back again! Highly recommend!

Pub
Nestled at the bottom of Town Hill, The Parish has quickly become a beloved spot in Wrexham, especially known for its vibrant indie bar atmosphere. While it primarily serves as a post-match hangout for fans and players alike—think Elliot Lee and Ollie Palmer enjoying pints and belting out Oasis tunes—it also opens its doors at 1pm on Saturdays, welcoming those looking to kick off their match day early.
Perfect bar for the Friday evening. Live music from local bands is so exciting.
Ivan V — Google review
Here early evening for a few beers. Good selection of beers. Friendly staff. A micro, pub garden. It appears that bands play here regularly. My sort of pub and maybe yours ? Of note - they have the Portuguese beer: Super Bock here - for personal reasons connected with fueling ships in the Azores and rushing out for a few pints late at night, it makes me feel very nostalgic.
James R — Google review
First time for a night out in Wrexham and I went to the Parish to watch The Sherlocks. It was a good fairly small venue. The sound was excellent and the staff were friendly. As expected the band did a great set. Beer prices seemed reasonable too.

Had an amazing time at this pub , great vibes and great staff
Muhammad — Google review
Had to delete my previous post just to say that I’ve just met Kev the owner, He wasn’t arrogant or up his own arse like some owners and, after a short chat, he even paid for my Texan barbecue Pringles! Thoroughly nice bloke who, like the rest of his staff, made me feel so welcome so I do think that I will now make this place my new drinking hole! Five stars (and they thoroughly deserve it! ) I’d give them six or seven if I could! Lee.
Lee — Google review
Great venue for live music with a vast selection of drinks to suit all tastes. There's a sheltered beer garden out back and plenty of comfortable nooks to duck away into. Only downside is that it does tend to get very hot and sweaty when there's a band on. Which I guess might be a good thing if you like saunas (in which case bump this score to a 5).
Taran B — Google review
Great intimate venue for live music and the brilliant Gerry Cinnamon experience. Good choice of beers too

The Royal Oak is a charming traditional pub located in the picturesque village of Higher Kinnerton, between Chester and Wrexham. Situated on the banks of the River Dee, this popular spot offers a beautiful riverside setting that attracts anglers, hikers, and race-goers from Bangor. The cozy interior features log burning fires and comfortable armchairs for a warm atmosphere during winter, while an outdoor terrace provides stunning river views on sunny days.
Why is it all Joules pubs are so good? This one certainly does not disappoint apart from the understandable 4:00 pm opening on a Thursday afternoon. Only the two cask ales on today but the Blonde ale is such an easy drinker. Well worth a visit if only to read up about the history of the place - a truly impressive building.

Went to see a number of the acts as part of Focus Wales. A large antelope head dominates the bar area near where the performance area. Great beers, great atmosphere and sound.
Neil K — Google review
Looked like it would be a cosy pub inside, but it didn't feel inviting at all. Many of the beers were off, and of the few we could have, it tasted like it'd been sitting there for a while. No proper ciders either. Another pub from the Good Beer Guide wherein we don't know why it's there.
Helena J — Google review
Nice pub. Very popular with the locals. No food service. Good selection of beers.

Visited over the August bank holiday weekend (Sunday afternoon) and although it was quiet in town there were a few in here making plenty of noise so we ventured in. We got served quickly and the lady serving was very polite and friendly. We ordered a pint and a glass of wine and were quite shocked when it came to almost £12. More so because it was the third pub we had been in and everywhere else on the high street was between £7-9 for a similar order. We didn't stop for another drink.

Some of the drinking elite were congregated in there. They really know their stuff, a truly great boozer. Superb beer, wonderful decor. I'm having a very nice flashback reviewing this place. Phwoar, wish I was there now.

The Turf Hotel is a popular pub in Wrexham known for its friendly atmosphere and good selection of beers and wines. It's a favorite among locals and even featured in the "Welcome to Wrexham" documentary, making it a must-visit for any Wrexham AFC supporter. Visitors have praised the welcoming landlord and friendly guests, as well as the iconic history and fantastic staff. The pub offers comfortable seating, big screen TVs, pool tables, and a variety of drinks.
Our Great Britain trip wouldn't have been complete with a trip to The Turf Hotel to see what it's all about! After watching Welcome to Wrexham over the past few years, we felt we knew the people. Our time in Wrexham and lunch at The Turf was a highlight of our trip! We surely hope to be back. 🙌

Absolutely LOVED the show Welcome to Wrexham and couldn’t wait to visit. It totally lived up to the hype! Had some food from the food truck – the lady who served us was so lovely, and the food was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed a pint of Wrexham Lager in The Turf – great atmosphere and the pub staff were fantastic too. All in all, a fabulous visit and I’d highly recommend it to anyone, fan or not!

We went to the turf before the game and the atmosphere was buzzing. The staff were friendly and even though they were busy you got served at the bar quickly. We met Wayne and had a chat, he’s a great guy. Great pub, food, prices and amazing atmosphere. We had a 5 star experience in a 5 star pub, I wish it was our local.
Helen J — Google review
Great place for a drink whether or not it's Match day. The bartenders are friendly and proud of their town - when it's slow they will chat with you about the club and sites to see. Food on the menu is for the lunch truck outside - limited hours. Plenty of beers on tap to match the bar.

Bucket list location! A big fan of the show and team so this was a must visit when coming for my holiday from Australia. I particularly loved the deadpool statue in the front room!
Jennifer M — Google review
Lucky enough to meet the landlord who was an absolute gentleman, very nice to talk too and great with people! Enjoyed a lovely, reasonably priced pint of Neck Oil before grabbing a very VERY reasonably priced burger from the onsite burger vans. Great prices, food and atmosphere.
Ryan M — Google review
Visited on Monday, 08th September 2025. No food was served inside the pub (bar snacks and pre-filled rolls), but we ordered from the fast food outlet hut outside, and they brought the food in. The toilet is a bit grim with no lock on the cubicle doors in the women's and gents. A bit garish inside, but in line with its status as a Wrexham FC-associated pub. Parking outside appeared restricted to hotel guests, and facilities were set up for a match-day crowd in terms of the outdoor drinking areas.
Jeffrey S — Google review
Amazing, welcoming and full of character. It's an amazing pub I've been to a few times over the years. The staff treat you like you belong there and everything is as it should be. I'd highly recommend going here and enjoying a drink. I've not been for food, but I will very soon. I'm sure it will be as positive as everything else.

Nestled at the end of a picturesque, tree-lined drive, The Pant-yr-Ochain is a charming 16th-century inn that offers an inviting escape from the hustle and bustle of town life. Overlooking a serene lake and surrounded by rolling hills, this manor house has become a beloved destination for food enthusiasts. With its cozy inglenook fireplace and delightful nooks, it provides the perfect ambiance for enjoying ales alongside delectable European cuisine.
Beautiful country pub. Ambitious menu that most chefs tackle very well. Extremely busy Sunday Dinner service, worth a look. Booking advisable. Hoping they bring back the T Bone steak as it was the best in Wrexham. Well stocked bar. Knowledgeable, friendly staff. Guest ales. Sunny summer day in the garden, snacking on starters & small dishes is a highlight of the year.

We came for lunch and it did not disappoint. Beautiful location and views from the restaurant. Service was very friendly and helpful. The food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely return in the winter to cosy up by the fireplace. And in the summer to take in the views from the lovely outdoor terrace.

What a fantastic experience we had. From service to the food we could not ask for more..Your staff are amazing, attentive and friendly. Food was incredible. What a fabulous time we had and we will definitely be returning
Kate — Google review
Sorry, but I didn't like the food. Salmon tempura was too deep fried, chicken ramen has too many flavours which dont work together. They called side dish to salmon tempura "Asian slow", but it has zero similarities to any "slows" I've tried around the world. Onion cutting skills made it really unforgettable...
Vera Y — Google review
Best vegetarian Sunday roast I have had in a while, their meat roast options are really good too. Definitely recommend!
Avni T — Google review
We've had fish and chips here a few times before and it has been really good so had no hesitation in ordering again. This time we were very disappointed. It was tasteless and mushy and obviously not cod (I admit I did not check if it said it was on the menu) and the chips were frozen chips. We'll think twice about going again now.

An Absolute Triumph! Pant yr Ochain Handled Our Large Party with Grace! From the moment our large party of 15 walked through the door, the experience at Pant yr Ochain was nothing short of perfection. This isn't just a meal; it's a truly wonderful dining experience that you simply must try. The atmosphere is pure magic. A beautifully executed rustic farmhouse vibe that is both immediately welcoming and warm. Exposed beams, cozy corners, and the gentle murmur of happy diners made us feel right at home. It’s the kind of place you want to linger in for hours. Superb Service and Magnificent Food. What truly set this evening apart was the service. Managing a table of 15 is a challenge, but the entire staff made it seem effortless. They were all exceptionally polite, professional, and friendly, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. It was a masterclass in hospitalit! Attentive without ever being intrusive. And the food? Absolutely superb. Every plate that arrived at our table, from the starters to the desserts, was a testament to the kitchen's skill and commitment to quality. Each dish was beautifully presented and tasted divine, a symphony of flavour that had our entire group raving. They truly elevate classic pub fare to a fine-dining standard. I cannot recommend Pant yr Ochain enough! If you're looking for faultless service, a wonderfully cozy ambiance, and genuinely magnificent food, look no further. Whether you're a couple looking for a romantic dinner or planning a huge celebration like ours, they handle it all with exceptional grace. It’s a guaranteed five star experience that we are already looking forward to repeating!

The Nags Head is a historic pub housed in a 1661 building, offering a picturesque beer garden and serving classic comfort food along with a variety of real ales. The venue provides a welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. Additionally, it is known for being child-friendly, making it an ideal destination for family outings. Visitors can expect prompt service and piping hot meals at reasonable prices.
We arrived to the location and sat down to find an amazing menu, set with a vast array of options for myself and my dad to choose from. We ordered, and it came pretty swiftly, and it looked and smelt amazing. We then tucked into our meals, and it was fantastic. My dad had the gammon, and I had the spicy burger, and I absolutely it.

Called in here for some lunch as we recommend it. Just catching up on some reviews. Nice lovely pub still with a traditional pub feeling nestled away in Wrexham centre. Can't fault the service or the food. Great place grab a bite to eat and we'll does what it's ment to. Nice atmosphere very friendly staff couldn't find fault at all. Only thing I would say is carpark quite small and tight. However worth parking up and a few min walk. When working or visiting Wrexham again I'd definitely call back in.
Simon — Google review
Stopped in at Nags Head on a cold winters night for a meal and a drink. It was a warm and welcoming looking pub. Bar staff didn’t come across as very enthusiastic or interested in what they were doing. Food was pretty good, but a bit on the higher side compared to Australian pub prices. Stopped offering food on a Wednesday night at 7:20pm!
Dion J — Google review
Nice atmosphere, dreadful food. Have a pint but eat elsewhere. Served a clearly microwaved steak and ale pie which was inedible. Nachos were what nachos would be if they were made by somebody who had never made or eaten nachos but were described what nachos are by someone else who had also never made or eaten nachos.

Long time since last visit, went in for lunch for another 2 guests. Really lovely set up, very busy but all seemed under control. Lady behind the bar was fab, really smiley and professional. Nestled in the heart of Wrexham, Levant Kitchen & Bar is a culinary gem that beautifully blends Middle Eastern flavors with modern British cuisine. Went to Levant Kitchen&bar today to catch up with my friend. We had a lovely generous fish platter to start then mains to follow. Fresh tasty food, staff were assertive, very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend this place. We will be back soon, thank you. 🤩

Service was great, very attentive and quick. Food was a mixed bag of very enjoyable to mediocre. Nibbles and starters were really good, calamari was real good, although a few more pieces would have been good. Mains were enjoyed by most. Cluck burger 👍🏼, our teenage son smashed this. The hanging kebabs (chicken & lamb) were a good size and one was modded to gluten free 👍🏼, Linguine looked good and was enjoyed 👍🏼, Chilli pork chop and beans was not so good, chop overcooked and the beans were a bit murgh, needed less beans and more liquid 👎🏼, kids build your own when we asked if grilled chicken were told yes, came out as chopped up nuggets 👎🏼. Desert received the seal of approval, a huge piece of sticky toffee pudding and custard 👍🏼👍🏼. Venue itself could do with an update, seems it's been like this for some time, so a refresh, with some more contemporary decor would take it up a level. Thanks 😊

Had a lovely roast dinner at Levant Bar – great flavour, generous portions, and fantastic value for money. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere made it even better. Highly recommend!

I Visted the Levant kitchen and bar on Monday night while in the area because of previous reviews. These reviews do not lie! The beef burger was incredible with great service and polite servers! I would highly recommend the Levant kitchen and bar.

We booked ahead and reserved a table for 6pm on a Thursday to celebrate a nephews birthday. The restaurant is on the second floor and accessed by stairs, however there is a glass fronted lift for anyone who has problems with mobility. The decor is nice and the staff welcoming. Although we were some of the first diners there the place soon filled up. Tables are well spaced. The service was prompt and friendly. The staff, in line with current regulations wear masks. We didn't have to wait long for our food and it arrived well presented, thoroughly cooked and hot. Portions were of a generous size. Prices are reasonable and they have a good selection of drinks, including Wrexham lager. Well recommended.

My husband and I had the lamb hanging kebab, it looked stunning but the lamb was chewy and grizzly. I was lucky I had 5 small pieces of lamb whereas hubby only got 4. The chips were very mediocre. The inside of the restaurant was very tastefully decorated shame the food was tasteless. We finished off with the sticky toffee pudding as we were both still hungry. The waitress was very pleasant just a shame the food wasn’t.

Went on a Sunday night and was pleasantly surprised by it. Nice food with more than adequate portions, decent wine and a well stocked bar. Great atmosphere with live jazz the night we went. I’ll certainly return. I remember it as kwik save years ago, and it put me off visiting for some reason. More fool me!!!!!

Tŷ Pawb, which translates to "Everybody's House" in Welsh, is an award-winning arts hub located in a former market. It has been transformed into a vibrant social and community space featuring an acclaimed art gallery that has hosted exhibitions from renowned artists like Grayson Perry. The hub also houses independent shops offering a diverse range of products such as old-school computer games, vintage vinyl records, and customised trainers.
The market area was so cute! Had lots of things to look at from self-owned market stalls, and there is a public gallery which changes exhibitions every 4 months. As it was our first time visiting Wrexham, everyone we interacted with there were lovely, will definitely visit again!

Visited here for the car park as it was described as an indoor market. There was some water activity going on. We sat and had lunch from a vendor inside, most shops were closed disappointingly. We walked round the town and got back to the car park after 5pm. The centre was closed and we couldn't get in where we left. No directions how to get to the stairs to get back in, so pay attention. You need to use your ticket to get out the door in to the stairwell. I'm not sure if this is a Welsh car park thing, but it seemed like a ball ache to me

Fantastic little market style venue. Still developing and could do with getting more shops in now but those that are there are lovely. Fantastic, friendly people. Great for the kids to get involved with arts and crafts at weekend. Social food areas and a small but fantastic gallery. Do some pottery, have some food or a coffee, dabble at community painting, get your hair done in some amazing styles whilst your there for a great price. Love this place!

I love coming to this place. My toddler is enjoying the play area in the gallery at the moment. And is great for getting nice food to eat. Have some great events here also.

A great indoor market with a interesting layout, comes with several cafe choices, a good variation of market stalls, toilet facilities and a kiddies activity area. It's topped off ( quite literally ) with a multi storey car park.

Event venue
Maesgwyn Hall is a historic building located across from the Racecourse on Mold Road. It serves as a versatile event venue, hosting weddings, christenings, meetings, and serving as a meeting point for Wrexham AFC fans on matchdays. Recently taken over by the owners of the Fat Boar chain, it offers modern finishes throughout the building and two main downstairs function areas.
Attended a family wedding here. The grounds are really lovely. Staff were absolutely brilliant. They have a good selection of drinks and the food was absolutely spectacular. We had the chicken and bacon, roast chicken, belly pork and mushroom wellington for our mains which were all excellently prepared and full of flavour. The cheesecake and banoffee desserts were absolutely to die for. If Maesgwyn staff are reading this I can't thank you enough for making my nieces wedding day so special. You were brilliant and the whole day went off without a hitch because of your efforts.

Had afternoon tea here but wasn't very impressed if I'm being honest. Party of 6 of us, sandwiches, the bread was too thick and cut in triangles not fingers, plus no scone, cream & jam, we had chocolate brownie, carrot cake & bakewell tart instead. There was plenty of tea offered and we did this whilst the offer was on for £10. Staff wer friendly too.

We had our Football team presentation evening at the maesgwyn. I can't recommend this place highly enough, Paris and the staff was absolutely fantastic, the food was perfect and the venue is stunning. Really appreciate having us Thankyou 🙏

I took a friend to Maesgwyn Hall today for afternoon tea today as a birthday treat. The sandwiches had been advertised on their menu as cucumber, smoked salmon coronation chicken and egg mayonnaise, we actually had, cheese, tuna and ham sandwiches. The scones were advertised as scones with clotted cream however they were already filled but with whipped cream instead of clotted cream. I am very disappointed as I picked this venue due to the advertised menu and checked again when I booked that it would be this menu as I wanted it to be a nice birthday treat. The service however was very good.

Warmly welcomed. Staff were helpful although could be more personable. I shared the roast platter and there was plenty for the both of us. Everything was tasty although some of the meats were a bit dry, other than that everything was lovely. I also shared the dessert platter which was lovely with very generous portion sizes. A great experience! The only drawback was the amount of disabled spaces which made it difficult for my nain to get in - could do with a few more.

My favourite pub in Wrexham. Bar staff always welcoming and friendly. Decently priced drinks and good selection of bar snacks. Spend quite a bit on the jukebox haha. Seating outside too with huge barrels as tables. Great atmosphere with karaoke on Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's. Great pub to start off your night out

Expensive pints for such a 'dingy' place that you have to walk down an alleyway to get into. Staff members were also not very enthusiastic and didn't seem to care if they had any customers. Music was very upbeat which helped lift the atmosphere but overall not really worth it.

Despite the challenges faced due to the impact of COVID-19 and rising costs, it continues to offer friendly service and an inviting atmosphere. Just like to share that I felt totally safe here today at lunch time. Great layout EVERYONE observed social distancing. Staff and service excellent. Food good and hot. Bonus that we had a really great deal with the eat out to help out scheme. Well done to everyone at Lloyds No 1.

Blocked and overflowing toilets, wet floor and no sanitiser in the dispensers, not very attractive! I cant believe this is still a Wetherspoons? always found 'Spoons to have such good clean facilities along with their great value offer.... Update to above review made 5 months ago: Believe it has improved since, and looked inviting when I passed yesterday, but not too inclined to venture in again.

A lovely stone built former bank, with beautiful sky lights and picked out in gold at the top of the pillers. It is a Lloyd's and the decor reflects this. It's mainly one big room, with some booths at the back. The toilets were up two flights of stairs, ladies OK. Interesting local historical pictures on the walls to look at as you're going up the stairs. It was tax free day, so drinks very reasonably priced!
Rosalind S — Google review
good food and service too, I just think I should have added more beans 🫘, but nothing to complain

Does what it says in the tin: cheap food and drinks. The staff forgot our drinks so had to go to the bar to get them. Burger was somehow rare in the middle, medium around that and well done on the outside. Alfredo pasta tasted better than it looked, but then again you get what you pay for. Clean and tidy though which was nice, and got bidden a farewell on our exit which was nice to see
Chester W — Google review
Frequently visit here during the day and never disappointed. Good food that always arrives quickly even at busy times. Very fair (if not inexpensive) prices for plenty of food. Drinks are cheaper here than any other place I have visited locally. However, some of the 'regulars' can be rowdy and rude although generally stay out of most people's way. Staff are very professional and do try to smile even though they are often coping with lots of orders. The place is a bit dark and could be brightened up, but not dirty or uncomfortable. Also, not a bad place to start a night out. Cheap drinks and a good atmosphere!

Plassey Holiday Park, Retail Village & Golf Course is a luxurious holiday destination nestled in the picturesque Dee Valley, North Wales. The 250-acre park offers top-notch accommodation and 5-star leisure facilities including an indoor swimming pool, children's park, fishing ponds, nature trails, and golf courses. The site also features over 20 independent craft and retail outlets housed in converted farm buildings offering high-quality food and drinks.
We’ve just returned from our third stay at Plassey in North Wales, and once again, we had a brilliant time. It’s a campsite we always enjoy and will almost definitely be returning to! The facilities are excellent, the toilets and showers are always clean and well-maintained, there’s a laundrette, a lovely swimming pool, and an incredible play park that kept our kids entertained for hours. There are also plenty of shops on site, two restaurants (the food at The Old Barn was amazing!), and even an ice cream shop that quickly became a daily stop for us. Plassey is a great site if you just want to relax and stay on-site, but it also makes a great base for exploring the area. During our stay, we visited Chester Zoo, the Ice Cream Farm, and even went fruit picking, all within easy reach. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay, which really added to the positive experience. A couple of things to note if you’re booking: if you don’t have a dog, I’d avoid Spring Meadow pitch 39. It’s right next to the gate to the dog field, so you’ll get quite a bit of foot traffic early in the morning and late at night. We also had people cutting through our pitch to access the gate, which wasn’t ideal. I suggested to staff that a small fence and designated path might help with this, and they were open to the idea. Over the weekend, there was a large group of families nearby and their children were using the dog field as a playground, which meant it was quite noisy at times and again involved a lot of running across pitches. If you prefer a quieter spot (especially with young kids who go to bed early), I’d recommend choosing a pitch away from that area on weekends. One last thing – all pitches are hard standing, which is great for avoiding mud, but make sure you bring proper rock pegs. We also brought foam mats for inside the tent which helped a lot. Unfortunately, when we packed up, we discovered a leftover peg from a previous camper had been buried in the pitch and had torn a hole in our tent and footprint. While the wardens were very apologetic and came out to check the pitch, it was disappointing that no goodwill gesture (like a partial refund or discount for our next trip) was offered, especially since they usually check for leftover pegs between bookings, although we do understand that these things can happen and it’s likely covered in the site’s T&Cs. Despite that, this didn’t ruin our trip. We still had a fantastic time and would 100% recommend Plassey to families looking for a clean, well-equipped, and fun site. It’s somewhere the whole family genuinely enjoys, and we’re already thinking about our next visit!
Abigail R — Google review
A family holiday with kids. The place is very well kept and maintained. All the pitches had a good amount of grass area very close by. The staff were great. Two very minor things to pick at. Not enough toilet blocks and the gravel area where we put our awning, well the gravel wasn’t deep enough to take a big pegs as they were hitting the concrete, so not sure about windy days. Other than that great all round. There is a 2-3 mile walk around the surrounding area starting and finishing on site, good bar, pitch and put, 9 hole golf and the best bit is for the kids. A pool, 2 table tennis tables, badminton court, 3 pool tables and a great park. Our child gave it a 10/10. It is a short journey from the motorway and well Connected to local area. Park and ride into chester is 20 minutes away. We would happily return.

Took our touring caravan to this site last weekend. First time on the site. Great location in the Welsh countryside. Large touring pitches which helps when you’re new to towing and manoeuvring your caravan. Dog Friendly with a large designated dog exercise field. Great facilities for the kids with a superb play area and separate badminton court and pool Tables. A nice sized swimming pool which was well maintained and very clean. As was the Toilet and shower blocks too. The food in the coffee shop on site was good as was the pizza we had in the bar and restaurant in the evening. Staff were all very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. No hesitation in giving this place 5 stars across the board. I’d definitely recommend it for families.
Richard S — Google review
We have just returned from a 4 night stay in one of the studio lodges at Plassey. Absolutely beautiful location, the park is immaculate and very well maintained. The toilets and shower blocks are the cleanest iv ever seen at any park. The staff are an absolute credit to the park they were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you. Kids enjoyed riding their bikes and visiting the park, we also had a great evening at the haybank club it was enjoyed by all. Swimming pool again very clean and enjoyed by all of us. The lodge itself was stunning, very clean and beds were very comfy, plenty of towels provided for our stay, hot tub was excellent. The only downside to the lodge I would say, as we came to do self catering the lodge was missing a cooking oven dish and a potato masher which ruined our plans for a shepherds pie tea! Still rated 5/5. Stunning place wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Ashleigh S — Google review
Just spent a glorious week on a deluxe fairway view pitch. The park is well laid out and the fully serviced pitches are large and meticulously maintained. There is a useful pull-in area just outside the park gate near to reception. Check-in was a lovely experience by friendly and welcoming staff who explained everything you need to know. You are guided to your pitch so there's no risk of getting lost! Setting the van up was made simple by the serviced bollards which include a TV connection point. The amenities block servicing fairway view was spotlessly clean with the usual array of toilets, showers and wash cubicles. Background music was a lovely touch. The swimming pool and relaxing area looked very nice but we didn't use it. There is a nice coffee shop on site serving a wide range of hot and cold drinks along with a surprising choice of food and snacks. There is a great outside seating area with a great countryside view. The Haybank Clubhouse is another lovely area to while away some time in a relaxed and quite plush setting with a nice cool beer or two! There is seating inside the clubhouse along with a covered outide area with views over the golf course. The addition of air conditioning on a hot day is a great bonus. There is a small retail village on site with a varied range of traders selling everything from clothes and trinkets to ice creams. We had a really great holiday made better by some stunning weather and can't wait to return. Thank you Plassey.

Just returned from our 1st visit in our touring caravan. Wow what a fantastic site. Been wanting to come here for quite a while but the cost in high season and bank holidays is too expensive, so we came out of season.... so glad we did, can now see what you get for your money. Beautiful grounds, fantastic pitches, and excellent facilities. My only critique is that there are not enough toilets and showers near to the camping area you are on. There are only 2 toilets and 3 showers, both in separate buildings for the campers on the main field to use. I would imagine in high season when the site is full it would be a problem. I had to hang around a couple of times to go to the loo and the site wasn't full. Would I come again, absolutely I would but not in high season.

Just back from a one night stay at Plasseys. Have stayed before with my husband and grandchildren and always enjoyed, but this time we didn’t have a very pleasant welcome :( don’t like naming and shaming) but the lady I saw a reception didn’t welcome us at all…or asked about our journey or even said ‘hello’ she was very short saying we should not have stopped by the barrier bit the special area ( that we missed ) just before the barrier … she didn’t give me a chance to say my friend was watching to see if anyone came. I then told the lady that my friend who I had brought along this time used to ride her pony around Plasseys and come to show her pony at the show held on the site in the late ‘60s., early ‘70’s…she so was very excited to be back . Her parents were friendly with the present owners now’s parents. Sadly …reception lady was not in the slightest bit interested in this bit of info as she rushed me off and out. It really put a damper on our visit as we were only there for one night. My husband and I run a caravan and campsite here on our working farm on Anglesey … we only have 50 pitches so not the huge business like Plasseys but we are sure to always to give our guests a friendly welcome and smile, it costs nothing at all. Now the positives…. The girl that showed us to our pitch was charming and smiley. We had a lovely walk passed the wsjeep And through the woods. The little shops are fabulous and all the staff super friendly and helpful.

Stayed in the touring section of park which perfectly layed out. Facilities were very good golf course, pitch & put, heated swimming pool to say just a few. Nice well laid out country walk, plenty of variety to eat and drink.

Ironworks is a beautifully renovated pub that exudes charm and warmth, thanks in part to its welcoming owner and her delightful dog, Panda. While I didn't get the chance to sample the food on my last visit, I've heard rave reviews about their burgers, which are said to be out of this world. The atmosphere is vibrant with great music playing in the background, making it an ideal spot for a fun night out. They also boast an impressive gin bar that adds to the experience.
This is a must place to visit. So much to see and do for all ages. Great food from the cafe. You will be amazed at what they have done. A great day out
Steven T — Google review
A pristine pub that has been renovated well. The owner is an extremely friendly lady and Panda (the dog) is a pleasant touch 🥺🥰. Prices are acceptable and drinks are adequate. Though I can't rate the food as on my last visit I didn't have a chance to get any.

Great day out. Some amazing displays
Jayne B — Google review
I used to love the Ironworks, the food was amazing and the drinks are served well but most importantly the venue is amazing it had two floors which you could get lost in your own room and drink away the day. However now the food price has increased with minimal quality, the drinks are still the same yet only HALF the pub is open. Upstairs has been closed for a long time now and it's a shame because that was most of the appeal. GET IT BACK TO HOW IT WAS.
Derron B — Google review
Nice place, they do a quiz on Tuesday quite cool. DJ seems cool, Shoutout to the staff, alot of love for you guys ❤️

I went with a friend who is deaf to ironworks. I have a medically exempt card stating I can't wear a mask. The manager told me they do not accept the medically exempt cards from your GP. I told him this is discrimination and against the equality Act 2010. He said he didn't care, so me and my friend left his pub and went somewhere else.

Considerable effort has been exerted to create a more inviting atmosphere at the Old Swan pub on Abbot Street in Wrexham. The establishment boasts a delightful outdoor area, which is accessible via steps that may have gone unnoticed by some patrons. Within this hidden gem, one can enjoy delectable cocktails cleverly served in teapots.
Pints were nice and reasonably priced. They had a good condition pool table to play on with a £5 deposit, as most places in town have. Stacey behind the bar was welcoming, friendly and very polite. Would recommend.
Matthew J — Google review
I'm comparing this to the Old Swan of many years ago, but this place has changed for the worse. Friendly service but beer was foul and overly gassy. Music was insanely loud for a deserted bar. The few people there chose to sit in the freezing cold in the yard rather than damage their hearing inside. Several customers turned around and left a soon as they walked in.

Hidden away, this little gaff is sound, good selection of pints, a pool table, and a old school racing game no one has ever won ever

I can’t fault the food - this is a bar, not a restaurant 😁 We are celebrating our honeymoon in Wrexham here from the US and ended up on an inadvertent pub crawl on Saturday night. We stopped into the Cross Foxes and it was…dull and not interesting so we walked back out. I told my husband that we should check out The Old Swan if for no other reason than the entrance is down an alley and I loved all the irreverent writing on the windows and walls. Upon entering we were greeted by Alicia behind the bar. This place is small. It’s a bar. It doesn’t pretend to be anything else. We parked ourselves at the corner and ordered drinks. 7 HOURS later, we finally left after meeting much of the family that owns the Old Swan including Alicia’s sister and their aunt, Karen. My husband used to work in the restaurant industry and had a lively conversation with Karen about the bar lines. The lines are crystal clear and are cleaned every week. If you have worked in bars in the US, many of them smell sour from all the spilled booze that isn’t properly cleaned. There was no such smell here and we could tell that everyone takes pride in the place. There were waves of patrons who would come and go over the evening, regulars and strangers alike. By the end of the evening, we felt like family ourselves and we know that this will be our “regular” spot this week and on future visits.

The Welch Fusilier is a charming pub nestled in Wrexham, known for its welcoming atmosphere and traditional vibe. While it may sometimes feel a bit crowded with only a couple of staff members on duty, the dedication of the team shines through as they hustle to serve patrons quickly. The pub attracts a lively crowd, especially during match days when excitement fills the air.
Old haunt on the Wrexham pub circuit run by craft union. Was busy with after work early afternoon crowd on a Monday when I popped in. Sone funny characters in there. No real ale but Guinness was fine. Pool table. 🎱

Not a town centre drinker usually but in town for the match like thousands without a ticket. What an atmosphere! Staff worked their socks off to serve everyone as quickly as they could. Didn't matter as there is a TV behind the bar in fact there's a TV everywhere! Let's hope for many more nights and afternoons like this.

A nice enough pub but only 2 members of staff there, so we're somewhat overworked. A couple of idiots in there which didn't help and the whole place was full of vaping 'smoke' from numerous vapers who didn't seem to give a damn about anyone else! Bad chest for 2 days afterwards. A very nice pub but I won't be ack if its busy.

Most probably suited for the 'hardened' clientele due to some 'locals' being stupid at the pool table. Bar staff are brilliant and us 'old people' laughing like hell at the younger generation. Great place though. My pub for years.

Incredibly kind and welcoming staff and a nice friendly atmosphere. They had TVs for sports and slot machines for games. I'd describe this as an "old man pub" which is what I love. Wooden beams on the ceiling and just a proper pub feeling. No food served other than bar snacks. The drinks were also very cheap (£5.70 for a single spirit and a pint of lager)

Nestled in the charming Overton Arcade of Wrexham, The Drunk Monk is a delightful bar that promises an unforgettable experience for both locals and visitors alike. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted by Ifor, the friendly resident dog, setting the tone for a welcoming atmosphere.
Just stumbled over this place by accident while visiting Wrexham....Lucky us! :-)Fantastic location with a great choice of beer and cider to take home or drink there and also lots of stuff on tap and very nice staff. Felt very welcome immediately! If you are a beer lover- go there!

Not the best ale I have had, at £5 a go, we both tried different Ales and found nothing we liked. One of them, Polly's, was like driving thick orange juice worst pint in a long time. Would say most of the ales are "trendy" aimed at men with groomed beards and silly top knots. Must be getting old. We moved on to the Royal Oak and had some great real ales there.

The Wynnstay Arms Hotel in Wrexham is currently promoting the #DrinkLessEnjoyMore campaign to encourage responsible drinking among young people. The hotel, while in a great location, could use some updates. However, guests praise the delicious and well-presented meals at the restaurant, with special thanks to Adam for his fantastic food. The staff's friendliness and attentiveness also receive high praise from satisfied customers who enjoyed a 3-course Christmas dinner.
Wonderful friendly and engaging staff. Check in and breakfast was seamless. Bed and room was comfortable. The location was perfect to have a good look around Wrexham.

Staff were very friendly and helpful; special mention for Sophia who worked in the bar at breakfast, she did a fantastic job when it was very busy. Rooms were clean at a surface level, but could do with a bit of extra attention; for example area around bath taps was dusty and could’ve done with a thorough clean. Positive that there are electric charging points, but again the car park could do with a clean up as there was a lot of litter. Overall the hotel feels like it could do with a little TLC but we had a nice stay.
Louise F — Google review
I visited today as I’m not from the area but was passing through and heard good things, but I am not satisfied with the customer service I have just received, couldn’t fault the food but the female that had served me lacked very poorly in customer service, coming from someone who works in hospitality myself,I told her my Pepsi tasted off and asked if she could check and change, seemed like a chore for her she sighed as doing it and put in down on the side with 0 communication then when coming to be served by her later on we had 0 chat,I tried engaging a conversation and just found her to be really rude. I hope it was just an off day as I am aware people have those but being professional should always come first! Will not be in a hurry to come back again which is sad really as me and my partner did really enjoy our meal.i feel like she may really need abit of extra training in customer service and dealing with customers and issues, she had blue in her hair with glasses and a midsize build

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the bed was clean and comfy. The paintwork going up the stairs,in the room is a little tired. We ate in the restaurant, the food was well prepared, very well priced and the portion size was excellent, again the staff were really helpful and polite. We would stay again, the location is perfect for going into the town of Wrexham, plus there is free parking.

Last here in around 2018/19 and the place was very well organised with friendly staff on all levels, i returned for a couple of nights and the impossible has happened! The place has gotten even better, staff are all engaging and offer a genuinely friendly pleased to meet you vibe. The bar was busy most of the weekend especially in the evenings but there was never a lack of cleaned tables as the bar staff were all quick to act once people had vacated their seats. Food was excellent and delivered swiftly so still hot. I watched as the bar staff interacted with what were clearly local customers and then with complete strangers with the same friendly interaction. Little things like carrying some drinks to a table for an elderly couple and returning a while later to enquire if they would like another drink. I was meant to be here for 2 nights and after experiencing a double booking issue at destination in another town, returned here for the remaining 3 days of my stay, same welcome and quiet a laugh between myself and the members of staff who were on duty.. Shall just make this my base next time and save myself the hassle.

We've always gone to the Plas Coch Frankie and Benny's in Wrexham and never had a problem but decided to have a change and go to this Eagles Meadow one instead. And to be honest we were very disappointed. My chicken and mushroom pasta was stone cold and the mushrooms still tasted as though they needed cooking a bit more. The side of chips we had was so small that it basically looked like they had gone downstairs to Burger King and grabbed a medium sized fries, that's how small they were and tasted exactly like them. We normally get quite a few chips in the Plas Coch one as a side and to be honest I would have paid about £2 for the amount, not £3.45!! The only upside was that the staff were friendly and my boyfriend's food was hot enough to eat. Will definitely stick to the Plas Coch one in future as never had a problem there....

Having originally gone to the Crafty Dragon pub nearby and left due to not getting our food after an hour wait, we went here and could not have received better service! On arrival we asked the manageress if there was a wait on food because we had waited for over an hour elsewhere. We were informed that there was no wait but she also brought us free dough balls after we were seated before we even ordered anything to help calm our appetites! From here we continued to receive fantastic service, letting us know which meals would take longer to make and they checked on us regularly throughout our visit. Food was brought quickly and tasted great! I don't normally write reviews but felt this restaurant deserved a mention as it is the best restaurant experience we have had for a long time!

Had a lovely experience here a couple days ago. I'm vegan, and went in excited to try one of their vegan dishes since they have such a wide variety. Our waiter (I think he was called Tom) was super helpful in telling us whether or not sides were vegan and was very efficient in finding out whether items were available (as this is a smaller size place). When we were given our food by another waiter, he quickly noticed they'd served me a non-vegan option by mistake and was very quick in correcting it. Overall Tom was really friendly and helpful, definitely made the experience 5/5 :)

As someone who’s not from the area who will only listen to rock and metal.. I was told this is pretty much the only place. Full of young. Kids and no atmosphere, would be ideal if they did an over 30’s rock and metal night. Was pretty sad for the music to switch from slipknot to Adele.. I mean who wants to listen to that drivel. Wrexham is by far the most disappointing place I’ve ever been to in the uk for metal and rock venues. I haven’t even really came across any alternative market places for clothing, yet I see so many alt people out and about in Wrexham. It’s such a shame as there’s a huge market for it, and people are going without. I wouldn’t waste my money if you’re over 18 going here. Please do something for older people who want to not listen to chart drivel on a night out.

Well, when we arrived we were told that there's no cocktails, bottle beer and its last round. Even though they weren't meant to close for another hour! We were made to feel unwelcome by the staff who were so eager to close up that they had their coats on, waiting for us to leave. I would go back again if the owner was there as the drinks list looked amazing, along with the actual place.

Nice first impression but after waiting nearly half an hour for a drink (to be made after ordering!) It was not even very nice. Won't bother cocktails here again. Shame

Trendy cocktail bar. Nice selection of drinks. 100 people in a tiny room with only 2 small exits, always makes me nervous!

Tucked away in Wrexham, Fairfield Tavern is a charming locals' pub that truly captures the essence of traditional British drinking culture. This delightful spot offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for enjoying a pint or two with friends. With its classic decor and friendly regulars, it feels like stepping into a cozy home away from home.
American perspective: Locals pub for sure, people were friendly and the bartender was cute. Wandered in here after a wrexham game while waiting for a cab and everyone was nice to us. Would enjoy a pint again

The service was fine the food and drink fine however we had to pay £2.90 for two glasses of orange squash for the kids. When I mentioned it I was told it’s cheap if you have it in beer like lager but more expensive when you have it in its own. We come here at least once a months and spend well over £100 - probably £150 - this will stop and we’ll go somewhere more reasonable for kids

Fairfield tavern is an amazing local pub a great range of beers, alcohol and none alcoholic drinks, service was brilliant and speedy Pool table, dart board and jukebox all available with sky sports too

This is a proper old school locals pub, not your trendy wine bar, town centre type of nonsense, and I love it. Lots of friendly characters in here who are regulars, the pool table is in regular use and there's a jukebox too. Decent ales and we saw the landlady dealing firmly with two lads who'd been having a little toot in the toilets.

Nestled by the picturesque Alyn River, The Alyn At Rossett is a charming country pub that beautifully blends traditional pub vibes with modern culinary flair. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, guests can enjoy their meals in a delightful beer garden or on the terrace while soaking in stunning views. Recently under new ownership, this eatery has garnered attention for its quality over quantity approach to dining; although the menu may be small, each dish is crafted with care and reasonably priced.
We had a warm welcome when we arrived and was quickly shown to our table. The lady took our drink order and these were spot on and brought to us. The food menu was lovely and something for ever taste. Our starters came and my soup was delicious and very tasty and my wife's pate was also very nice. We followed with great main courses of cheese burger for me and chicken for my wife, both came with skin on fries and these were demolished and were also lovely. My wife had dessert, which was very good too. Overall we was more than happy with what we had and very good prices too. Highly recommend if your in the area and they also have a great beer garden by the river.

Morgan set the table beautifully for our gathering of 14. The room was lovely too. The chef Craig was attentive to any dietary requirements. The food was delicious and the staff were lovely. I look forward to going again soon
Helen F — Google review
We had booked, but there was an issue with our table number when we first went in and it took 3 members of staff to figure out what to do. We were then told we could have table 16, this table was very wobbly and had to move to the next after the people left there. I found that the tables and chairs were mismatched throughout the restaurant, which is below par of modern day dining standards. Uniform tables and chairs throughout would make for a more consistent and pleasant atmosphere. Staff were very friendly, helpful and engaging, which made the experience more enjoyable and the food was delicious, the only gripe is about the drinks, some beverages were not available on tap, but on the whole a pleasant experience.

First time visiting this lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Nice outside decked area with plenty of comfy seating. We visited on a Sunday, and although it was busy- ish, the staff were attentive and helpful. Fantastic food, and we'd definitely come again.

We visited The Alyn in Rossett as a party of three with four dogs in tow, and we couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome. The staff were genuinely friendly and accommodating — nothing was too much trouble. We ordered the Sunday roast, and it was honestly one of the best we’ve had in a very long time. Generous portions, plenty of well-cooked meat, and everything was full of flavour. Proper hearty food, just as a roast should be. A lovely pub with a warm atmosphere, great food, and a real dog-friendly vibe. We’ll absolutely be back!

We arrived without a booking last Sunday but that was no problem at all and we were quickly found a table. Our experience was so great - good, friendly service, fantastic food, huge portions of tasty veg, succulent meat and very tasty Yorkshire pudding and gravy), we decided to come back again this weekend. This time we booked. Again, we had the Sunday Lunch, trio of meats and yet again, huge portions of seasonal veg which included delicious red cabbage, tasty trio of meat, roasties, plus a great Yorkshire pudding and gravy. To finish off, the same as last week we had apple and cherry crumble with custard - delicious! We shall be back again soon! Consistent excellence!

Welcoming staff. Good atmosphere and lighting. Variety on menu was excellent. Food was delicious and well presented. I had steak and malbec pie which was perfect with abundance of vegetables perfectly cooked. Other members in party had scampi which once again was in abundance. Shame other pubs don't reach these standards in quality or quantity. Lovely garden area near river with plenty of seating which wasn't in use because of the weather. Best place to eat in that area

Cross Foxes Erbistock is a charming 18th-century pub that exudes warmth and character with its exposed beams and inviting open fire. Nestled by the riverside, it boasts a delightful garden and terrace where you can soak in stunning views while enjoying your meal. The menu offers comforting dishes, though options for vegans may be limited. Diners have praised the deliciousness of various meals, from bruschetta to hearty Sunday roasts, complemented by friendly service.
The Cross Foxes is a nice little riverside pub with lovely views of the River Dee. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating. There are two car parks but for anyone with mobility issues the front parking area would be more suitable. The staff are always pleasant and friendly and the food is good quality and enjoyable.

Beautiful day to sit on the outside terrace overlooking the river. Location is stunning. Staff were lovely and friendly and there was a good choice of food available. We had lunch and there was a good selection of wraps and sandwiches along with starters that make a good lunchtime snack. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere.

Popped in for Sunday lunch, never been before and didn't book but as there was only two of us thought we would risk it. They found us a table in the snug which was fine. Plenty of staff around but sat there for ten minutes after the drinks to order, decided to order at the bar in the end. Food took about twenty minutes but was lovely, hot and tasty when it arrived, gravy on my pork was lovely.

After reading mixed reviews, gave it try and was not disappointed. Food was served 'hot' and was tasty. Sticky toffee pudding was divine, too. No photo as it disappeared very quickly :)

Nice pub with outdoor seating overlooking the river. I visited at lunch time and was given the lunch menu along with the main menu. I was disappointed that the 10 or so dishes on the lunch menu didn't include any vegan options. We ended up having a 3 course meal and I had bruschetta, sweet potato pie and chocolate brownie. The first 2 courses were delicious but I thought the vegan brownie left a lot to be desired. The brownie was chewy instead of a decadent squidgy brownie. The brownie and the ice cream were both pretty weak flavour-wise too

The Wheatsheaf Inn is a delightful family-friendly pub that offers a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for visitors of all ages. With a diverse kids’ menu and enticing meal deals, it caters to families looking for delicious dining options. Guests have praised the quick service and attentive staff who ensure everyone feels comfortable from the moment they arrive. The sizzling chicken served on skillets is particularly noteworthy, alongside classic British dishes like fish and chips with mushy peas.
It was my first time visiting this place, and it was incredibly busy and crowded. I wanted to share my experience because I think it might be helpful, especially for the person who served us. He was such a lovely man—his name is Danny (I found out from another staff member). I’m not sure if he was the manager, but he was dressed very professionally and carried himself in that way. Although there was quite a long delay with our food, Danny came over and politely explained the situation in the kitchen. To make up for it, he kindly offered my husband a complimentary pint, which we really appreciated. We were seated at table 20, and nearby there was a lady with a large group at table 11. She was unfairly blaming him for the delay and being quite rude to him, even after he had explained what was happening. I’m pretty sure she might have put some bad reviews on him as she was telling to the man who was sitting next to her. After he left, that same woman began making racist remarks about him. I strongly feel the company should protect its staffs from this kind of hateful, discriminatory behaviour. I felt genuinely sorry for him—during such a busy peak time, he was rushing around doing his best, like a headless chicken. I hope the company should take the correct steps to make the environment less toxic.

Wrexham Cwtch is a delightful spot that truly captures the essence of community and hospitality. Recently, Councillor Nigel Williams expressed enthusiasm about sharing their plans with locals, inviting everyone to experience what this charming venue has to offer. Visitors have enjoyed great value food and drink in a welcoming atmosphere, making it an ideal place for families—especially those with little ones who can engage in fun activities like coloring sheets.
We visited midweek and had a great experience. Food and drink were very good value and great quality. We were the only ones in there and our three year old loved the colouring sheets and the food. Went for lunch with my grandmother, sister and friend. The food was lovely and sharing as bottle of wine the coat was not that bad. The service was a little bit and miss as there was only one person serving and orders are to be places at the bar and the server had a head set on as well so while taking our order he was having a conversation with the back-of-house which meant we had to repeat our order a few times as he simply was not listening when my grandmother spoke to him... but otherwise it was nice and the food was good.

While strolling through the village, I encountered a local woman walking her dogs who assured me of a warm reception and delectable cuisine at The Buck Public House. This sentiment was echoed by others, and indeed proved to be true. Although I could only indulge in two courses on this particular visit, both were exceptional. The pea and mint soup accompanied by beer bread was particularly outstanding.
Went for an early evening meal on Friday 27th June. The pub was busy but we were still served quickly. Menu had a great choice and the food we had was excellent.

Very disappointing. We had the Chicken, ham hock and leek pie. It just tasted of pepper. Very disappointed as this was our first visit and we went because of the good food reviews. Very limited menu. We will not be returning.

This Christmas meal was booked weeks ago. We walked in . No one immediately obvious as to who you went to. Finally told to go to the back. No one took us. No set table. Nothing Christmasy on the table. Server said she'd only just been told about the table. A family came to the table next to us. Had there meal and had ordered pudding but were then asked to move ad they had a large party to sit down. These had been coming in for a while but weren't able to sit down as nothing had been sorted for them. Then we were asked to move as well. We'd finished our meal but wanted to finish our drinks in peace. This wad OUR Christmas outing as well as the large party who were still waiting to be seated. A couple at the bar were saying that they weren't impressed either as this had been booked for months and food was pre- ordered. Obviously someone in charge who couldn't organise a p@#s up in a brewery. No sincere apologies. No discount for spoiling our evening. Don't go if you've booked and expect anything to be organised. On the food.... 30 out of 10. It was all pretty amazing. Just the organisation and disrupting our night greatly let the Buck down.
Norah O — Google review
The food was alright but it was such a shame as the kitchen had no stock in children’s burgers so they therefore gave the children’s adults burgers and when we had something to say about portion sizes and pricing and how we were not told that there were no childrens burgers in stock the manger was absolutely awful!! Very rude and incompetent and he very much lacks skills in communication and people full stop. His service is absolutely atrocious and disrespectful with a vile attitude words cannot describe our disappointment.

Dawn runs a marvellous, traditional Welsh pub. In 1643 Oliver Cromwell set his cannons up on the site of what would become the future pub's namesake bowling greens, then he shelled the Parish church before burning a lot of the town. One thing that's never burnt however are the dinners that fly out of Bowling Greens kitchen. Superb, hearty, honest scran. Fine selection of beers, wines & spirits, great dart board + teams, too. All welcome in this midweek drinkers experience.
