Cocktail bar

Wine bar
The Crunkleton is a private club on Franklin Street known for its extensive selection of over 500 spirits. The bar offers signature cocktails and curated spirits, making it stand out from other watering holes in the area. The wood-paneled and dimly lit interior creates a sophisticated ambiance, while the knowledgeable bartenders are happy to engage in conversations about the origins of various drinks.
Love the vibes of this rustic old school bar. The drinks are delicious and well balanced. The bartenders are attentive and have knowledge on the alcohol. A must if you are looking for a great drink.
Lindsay H — Google review
Great spot for an elevated bourbon or cocktail experience. Solid selection and very knowledgeable staff add to this gem, which gives speakeasy vibes. Low light and leather keep the vibe going, and the pool table at the end of the joint adds just a touch of socializing space. Added bonus: if you see a whiskey you want to try but aren’t quite sure you want a full pour, they offer smaller pours, too. Highly recommend.
Avery H — Google review
Great spot for craft cocktails. The crowd can sometimes get loud, but most nights it’s a pretty chill place.
Mike R — Google review
Actually really enjoyed. Got the elderflower signature drink. Ginger forward but super nice. The cucumber was really good. It’s a bit pricy, $15 per drink. But ambient atmosphere for a conversation. Empty on a Sunday at 7p but got populated by 8:30. Sophisticated vibe. Great lighting.
Isabella G — Google review
One of the nicest spots in Chapel Hill. It's clean, classy, and elevated. The cocktails are wonderful, and their whisky selection is large! A lot of good, hard to find, rare, and allocated whiskies. Prices can be a little high, but the atmosphere makes it worth it. The pool table in the back is great! The decor is great! The service is top class! And the drinks are unique and good! Parking can be difficult to find. Not kid friendly. Very Handicap accessible.

The Crunkleton🎷🍸🩸One of my favourite spots in Chapel Hill❣️ Like a haven for those seeking a refined atmosphere and top notch cocktails🫠 With its sophisticated ambiance, it’s the perfect spot to indulge in an elite cocktail experience🍹 The Crunkleton never disappoints, making it a cherished destination for authentic enthusiasts🥀
Dilruba D — Google review
Excellent cocktail bar and den of spirits here in Chaple Hil NC. The Bartenders are knowledgeable about craft and spirits. The experience was solid. I had the Painkiller and it's good. Very solid and tasty I wouldn't say it's the best Painkiller I've ever had but I also couldn't say it wasn't the best. I'm not sure I'm sold on the vibe here. I think the music was very lacking in connectivity as far as inspiring a clientele. However I dig the jazzy vibe so it's hard to doc for that. I think ky experience is marred by how much this particular concept was hyped up to me. But all in all I def would say this is a whiskey lovers paradise and if your in town for a night or two this place 100% has your bourbon/whiskey/cocktail fix and that's an Ocean guarantee 💯. Come hang out have a drink and see what the vibes are. Hopefully I'm not blowing smoke up your crunkleton.
Oceanthebartender — Google review
This is a beautiful bar with excellent potential. Unfortunately, the service is nonexistent - I would give zero stars if possible. This is the second year in a row that we went to see the same great cover band at this location. Yes, we gave it a second chance after the last below par exceptionally rude experience hoping that it was just a bad apple bartender, but no, this was worse than last year. Last year I asked for a very specific top shelf bourbon pour and was told, “you do realize that is a $60 pour?” Unbelievably rude. Now a year later, one bartender, one bar back and an over 45 minute wait for a drink! Unacceptable and a grave disservice to the band playing. We left after one drink. Sorry, we will not be returning and we hope the band finds a new venue so we can enjoy the music!

Goodfellows is a laid-back college bar located on Franklin Street, offering a lively atmosphere with regular events like trivia nights, karaoke, and DJ sets. The bar boasts an impressive selection of 65 beer varieties and nightly drink specials served by award-winning bartenders. Known for its signature shot called the pickleback - a shot of Jameson followed by pickle juice - Goodfellows also offers cheap drink specials including $1 Long Island Iced Teas.
Alex is the best bartender in my entire 24 years of life. He is kind, attentive, and hospitable! He truly needs a raise & my only request is that they get miller lite on tap!!!!! <3

Definitely love this place. Don’t get too drunk and remember to close your tab! If you forget, they pick their tip. My total was $16 but my card got charged $36! What a generous tip of me! 😆
Jenna V — Google review
I used to really like this place. Some really nice people. Until they hired some guy named Varun. Super rude. Was told by the bouncer I could bring in my leftovers and once inside. Varun took it upon himself to snatch them without good reason. Mind you I didn’t even have them open. I proceeded to grab them and it made him angry. This time he proceeded to throw the directly into the trash. At this point I was no longer gonna eat them but the principal of it all disturbed me. I grabbed them from the can and he proceeded to grab me from my shoulders and say “it’s time to go buddy.” The hostility was so uncalled for. My friend group as witness saw the whole thing unfold. Had been favorite place for years. All the other bartenders are great.
Manuel M — Google review
Me and my friends had a great time at Goodfellows tonight! The bar was manned by good fellows, one named Mike took especially good care of us. I had a delicious pickleback and I even heard my favorite song, Levitating by Dua Lipa. I also enjoyed a PBR and a tequila shot! Thank you Goodfellows for a great night and thank you Mike for being a fantastic bartender and always greeting us with smiles ♡ We’ll be back!

Denied an ethnic man in front of me (not part of our group) and kicked out my friend and I when I asked her about it. Was a very weird experience that made us both uncomfortable

Basement bar with super friendly bar staff. Solid place to catch a game in the collegiate off-season. Can't speak to the regular times, though I can imagine it becomes quite crowded. Definitely worth checking out, at the very least.
J H — Google review
Awesome staff and atmosphere. A cool little hidden spot. Door is on street level then you take a long flight of steps to 🍻🍸🍹 Have Trivia and Karaoke nights. Only slight downside is they open at 8pm - 2am lastI checked. KING of Jameson sales in the whole SE. You have got to try their spicy pickle back❗💯
Herbert R — Google review
Normally a fan of this place, but friend was rejected because the LAZY bouncer who needs a chair apparently thought her photo didn’t look like her (she was 16 when the photo was taken, and she has the same hair type, color, and eye color). She’s over 21 and this is the first time this has ever happened. Heard many other stories about this particular bouncer too, so congratulations on having a bouncer that’s actively losing you money.

Bar
"He's Not Here" is a renowned college hangout in Chapel Hill, known for its casual atmosphere and wide selection of draft beers. The bar is famous for the "Blue Cup," a 32-ounce Carolina blue souvenir cup that patrons can enjoy in the courtyard. The outdoor space is highly praised as a community treasure, offering a relaxed setting to savor drinks and good vibes.
Chapel Hill staple. Live band on the weekend sometimes ($5 and a huge vibe). $10 for the “blue cup” and it’s beer good for 2-3 people, tbh. Been to the trivia on Thursdays 8.30pm. Also good vibes. Outdoor space is super nice. Generally quite college-y, nothing too fancy, but it’s a nice gathering spot. Outdoors > indoors, but there are seats everywhere. Pretty dead on like, a Monday. $5 blues cups on Tuesdays.
Isabella G — Google review
The Outdoor Space is a Chapel Hill Community Treasure. 5 stars. Indoors I can touch the ceilings. Thats 2 stars. This is an Undergraduate Staple along with Pantana Bobs when I was around 25 Years ago. A must visit bar while you are in Chapel Hill to meet undergrads. The smallest draft beer is 32oz.... the signature cup of a black out night to come. Overall it gets 4 stars, this was a hard decision. The bar is a 3. Just know biger better bars and resturants lie ahead in your future! The outdoor area under the Magnolia Trees is special. As I noticed all the needed new multi family investment next door built 50' high. I bumped my rating to a 4 star because of the location and Trees and the value of the land. This is a "if its not broke dont fix" I get it. However I would add landscaping and more lots outdoor lighting. Outdoor area needs $10,000 investmest.
Alex C — Google review
you can get the beer that you like. Prices are great. Outdoor environment is great
Alexander G — Google review
Definitely a college bar. However, I feel like I would've missed out on an experience integral to this community had I not stopped here. The beers are huge (blue cup) at decent prices. Honestly decent beer selections. The college kid working the bar is a beast. The place went from dead to packed (I mean it, we were packed in like sardines) in a matter of minutes. He was a boss though and handled everything very calmly and still managed to refill our beers timely. I definitely would recommend coming here if you're in the area.

A Chapel Hill landmark. Just go upstairs, order a Blue Cup (32oz) of your favorite beer and sit back and relax. Great spot to enjoy nice weather.
James R — Google review
Home of the blue cup! Great college bar. Has the ubiquitous college bar atmosphere and the prices to go with it. You really can't beat the blue cup on price, as you get so much beer with it. I can see the weather being an issue here as most of the seating is outside. The bartenders were fast, friendly, and didn't stiff on the pours. Come grab a cheap beer here!

Cool college spot. We went before the basketball game. Dudes working we're cool. Told me where to get a shirt for the game. Really chill outdoor space. Good vibes. Check it out.

TRU is a popular hangout in Chapel Hill known for its build-your-own gourmet sandwiches, wraps, and salads. It's a great spot for casual drinks with an outdoor patio and late hours. The cozy atmosphere makes it perfect for a relaxing night out or even as a study spot during the day. With occasional club nights and basketball game viewings, TRU offers more than just food and drinks.
Meet a large group of friends t9 celebrate a 21st bday with cocktails and fellowship. Lovely shared table space with a bartending team that attended to all your drink needs. They allowed us to bring in a birthday Cheesecake to share. Fabulous experience.
Margaret B — Google review
TRU is a great place to stop for lunch! The outdoor is beautiful and lovely to sit in during spring. The sandwiches/salads are fresh and pretty quick to arrive. I wish there was a better wine selection for being a wine bar, but it was okay. They are not open super late. It seems like a great place to come to work in the afternoon with a laptop.
Caroline — Google review
I’ve been to tru a few times and usually have a decent experience (with the exception of mixed drinks being way too strong most of the time). However me and a group of 7 others came in from 8-10 on October 3rd, and found they were not serving any cocktails except margaritas, and after waiting 45 minutes the one of the two who ordered margs got a completely different drink for no reason. Then, after waiting another hour, another friend asked about his drink and was informed that they had run out of the beer he ordered but the staff had not told him. Isn't that stealing? The table was also dirty the entire time and a staff member cleaned it after dishes sat for two hours. It was busy at first so of course we understood, but two hours is not a great look.
Abby P — Google review
Cozy, warm atmosphere with sofas and warm lighting. Nice seating and tasty sandwiches. Biggest problem was ordering— when inputting credit card information, you can’t see your card information while typing and on some devices you can’t place the order and the website won’t tell you why you can’t place an order. It was frustrating and I had to use a friend’s phone to order. P.S. the chocolate chip cookies are very hard.
Kavya S — Google review
When a friend of mine invited me out to grab bespoke sandwiches off Franklin, I had no idea what to expect. I never would have guessed that what awaited was a cozy nook with fast service and a great atmosphere. Tru is the perfect meet-up spot, with tons of seating options, low-lighting, and a comfortable feeling I've found in few places in the triangle. You order off of your phone, and the staff delivers you a delicious sandwich in under ten minutes. And when I say delicious, I mean it. I got a vegetable-filled sandwich layered with pesto and pepperjack cheese, all toasted to perfection. It's the kind of no-fuss meal that brings back the sandwiches my mom would make after a full day playing outside. The simplicity is part of what makes it so delicious, and so worthwhile. If you are looking for a quick bite, a good sandwich, or just a great place to meet up with friends, you can't go wrong with Tru.
Krysten H — Google review
The sandwiches were okay, the atmosphere was very dark, the drinks were good, but don’t expect friendly service.
Noelia B — Google review
They mixed up my friend and I’s order, I ordered roast beef and she if FULLY vegetarian. She only realized a quarter through the sandwich that she was eating my order. She is Hindu so she doesn’t eat beef !!!! Ridiculous, they also messed up my other friends order, put pickles and forgot avocados.

Brewery
American restaurant
Top of the Hill Restaurant & Brewery in Chapel Hill is a contemporary late-night spot offering housemade draft beer, eclectic American fare, and patio seating. Founded by Scott Maitland, it's considered one of North Carolina's earliest microbreweries and a pioneer of the local and organic movement in the town. The rooftop bar provides a lively atmosphere with panoramic views of Franklin Street.
Great location looking over busy and fun street in Chapel Hill Uni neighborhood. Always fun to be there. Great to tryout all different fresh brewed beers. Service staff are friendly and fast. Food always brings satisfaction to our tummy. Great place to visit . ( Did I said “Great” 3 times ) Yes I did.
Mr L — Google review
Very good restaurant! They were able to seat our group of five during a busy hour. The service was great, and we all enjoyed our meals. I tried the chicken wrap with fries and hush puppies—I recommend it!
Valeria B — Google review
Beautiful restaurant. If weather is good definitely sit on the balcony. The food here is excellent. We at pub style food. It was very good. Some of the entrees that went by looked and smelled amazing. The buffalo nuggets were very good. I stuck with just the buffalo sauce and had them sauced rather than plain with multiple sauce cups. I asked for them wet but they didn't come particularly wet. Our waiter struggled with everything so it could have been just him. The fried pickles and peppers were extremely good. This place was recommended by many people it's definitely good.
Nickolas W — Google review
I came to visit my cousin and chose this place from their reviews and well, it definitely exceeded my expectations! The food was amazing I got their French Quarter Jambalaya which I devoured! We also got the flight of beers which was very much worth it! Their beers are very different but have a great taste! Thee atmosphere was great we sat on the balcony area and the service was amazing!
Myonghui O — Google review
We sat out in the patio, giving us a good view of Franklin. I ordered the Bell Tower blueberry wheat and the topo braised beef, which came with mashed potato and roasted vegetables. The beer was perfect for the hot weather that day! The braised beef had a perfect crust and was succulent on the inside. The sauce was delicious. Our waitress was friendly and attentive the entire time.
Nghia D — Google review
Vibes: Fairly noisy/busy with TVs with sports. So good be good for drinks. Food: Jambalaya: Impressive in a, bad way. The rice was somehow mushy with crunchy bits? And the chicken was hard. And the broth was hardly seasoned and thin. I'm not really sure what to say, but it wasn't good. Really docked the score. Mushroom Grit Cakes: Unsure if I'm evaluating this in relation to how bad the jambalaya was, but it was ok. I liked the grit cakes bc they were hot and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, but it was topped with an interesting variety of things. It was in a cream based sauce (stroganoff like), with cooked mushrooms, and garnished with chopped cashews, raw diced tomatoes and shredded scallions. It didn't taste bad or anything. You honestly can't really taste anything but the sauce and the occasional bite from the scallion. Inventive I guess?
Ivy L — Google review
back in the third week of August, my wife and I had occasion to visit Chapel Hill, where she graduated from and based on her experience, we went to top of the hill for lunch. I can honestly say that it was the finest dying experience I’ve had in years. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and professional, and the food was absolutely amazing. We had the whisky and Coke braised beef on a bed of vegetables and it was absolutely delicious. Our server, a very nice young lady did her job perfectly. She kept drinks filled and discreetly checked on us four or five times an hour. Overall, it was a five star plus experience and I hope we can return very soon.
Jutt R — Google review
Visiting from out of town and wanted to try. Food is meh. Beer is subpar. Not much more to it. Got the nachos to start, they were on the small side, very little cheese, and watery which is a new one for me and nachos. Lizard chips were decent. I got the mushroom grit cakes and they were flavorless. My wife’s salad came out so screwed up from what the menu read, we sent it back. Fried chicken sandwich was good enough. Overall it’s clearly a place that makes its bones on location. Another restaurant with a novelty (view) not doing much that’s worthwhile. There’s surely better food options in Chapel Hill. Edited: appreciate response from restaurant. Shows they care about what they put out. Maybe we caught them on an off night or it’s just not for us. Good on management for staying on top of reviews and taking pride in things.

Brewpub
American restaurant
Carolina Brewery, located in Chapel Hill, is the oldest craft brewery in the Triangle. It offers a lively atmosphere with a patio and sports on TV, making it a great place to gather with friends for delicious drinks and genuine hospitality. The brewpub serves a variety of American eats and boasts an impressive selection of craft beers, including their renowned American IPA and signature Sky Blue Kolsch.
Great place to grab a beer and snacks with friends. Hostess, Emily gave me and my friend coloring pages to color while we caught up! So fun and whimsical! Michael our waiter was also prompt and helped me choose my beer flight!
Claire H — Google review
I was really disappointed during my recent visit to The Brewery. While the food was good, it took our server almost 15 mins to greet us, and the state of the menus were absolutely unacceptable. The paper menus were filthy, stained, and clearly not being maintained properly. The main menus had food stuck to them and the beer menu looked like someone bit the top of it. It’s honestly shocking that in 2025, a place like this in a college town is still using paper menus in such poor condition. This is not a minor issue, it really impacts the overall experience. There’s no reason for a restaurant to have menus that look and feel so gross. It would be a huge improvement if they switched to laminated menus or something more hygienic and durable. Not to mention, switching to something other than paper menus would be a more sustainable, eco-friendly choice. My family and I won’t be returning unless they make some serious changes to how they handle this basic part of the dining experience. Hoping they make improvements soon!

Gameday for early lunch. Not very busy, but service was super slow. Food was ok. Not great quality. Beer wasn't great. Hostess vaping at the front should have tipped me off.

We are from TCU, 🐸 🏈 Go Frogs! and came in here to watch the Ohio State | UT game. We were still on Texas time, so we showed up an hour earlier (uhhhg) than we intended. Phillip and Ally were SO MUCH FUN. The hour flew by! Lettuce wraps and burger were delicious. Beer 🍻 (and coffee ☕️) and beermosas hit the spot. And the best was the open air! Beautiful day with fresh air and tons of TVs to watch your favorite games!
Ryann Z — Google review
If I could give this place 10 stars I would. Yes, the food was amazing, but the service was unmatched. Our server, Aidan C. was impeccable. He went above and beyond and was hands down the best server I’ve ever had. I’m not one to typically leave reviews but this guy truly deserves one. He was definitely a man of his word. When he told us he would “run” to grab something he physically sprinted to the kitchen. He constantly made sure we were doing alright and kept asking if there was anything he could do to make our meal and trip to NC more special. When I left my water bottle on the table and had walked about 5 minutes down the road he met us running as fast he could down the street to get it back to us. Such an amazing guy.

We are in town from Minnesota looking at some schools here and we saw Carolina's Brewery and thought it looked pretty good. We got blackened steak tacos, carne asada quesadilla and the new salmon bowl. All were awesome, but the best part of the whole night was our server, Aiden ! This kind human was informative , helpful and honest! It was the best service we have had on this five day-multi-city trip. Thank you, Aiden!!
Bridget M — Google review
Phillip and Jamal were great servers—friendly and helpful. Phillip went to find our food after we waited 25 minutes. I ordered my biscuits and gravy with The gravy on the side. The Kitchen missed this instruction and my biscuits came with the gravy on them. Since Carolina brewery does not provide jams or jellies, I brought my own, so I had to scrape the gravy off the biscuits which left them rather wet. But it worked overall. Both Jamal and Phillip tried to get me to get a new order, I didn’t want to make a fuss. It was nice they tried. They are great wait staff! I love Carolina Brewery especially for a pre-game meal.

Amazing Oktoberfest menu. As a German, the Schnitzel was very authentic. Molly was such a pleasure to have as a server, she always made sure our table was taken care of. Manager Neil stopped by the table to check in on us, and he was very friendly, which was a nice touch as well.

Sports bar
Four Corners, located on Franklin Street, is a popular spot for casual dining and catching up on the Carolina sports scene. The restaurant offers a variety of house-made dishes using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and an extensive selection of beverages including beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits. The ambiance pays homage to Dean Smith with a fantastic sports bar atmosphere.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GRILLED WINGS! Their wings are great fried, but GRILLED is a whole other level! They do take a little while to come out, but the wait is worth it! The bar staff is also phenomenal - every time I’ve been there, Jammie, Karissa, Fletcher, Emily, and Lexi are ROCKING it! (Jammie’s also an excellent resource and really knows her drinks!) Easily one of my favorite places on Franklin!
Christine S — Google review
This is definitely a great place to be for any sports entertainment. The vibe and buzz are extraordinary. But the food is bar food at best. Be especially aware of the fish tacos. Yes, it is nice to see them on the menu since not many places serve them, plus you get 3 total, but the ones here are barely satisfactory bar food. First, they have only thick flour tortillas, and no corn ones. That alone is a fail because the thick flour texture overwhelms the nice shrimp. And they use raw green cabbage, which is terrible. Last, the rice and beans that were served were virtually flavorless. Thumbs down to the shrimp tacos!
Raymond S — Google review
Alana was the best server we have had here in a while. She should be the one to train the others. Our cups were never empty and she checked on us just enough! On a side note there was a man at the bar with a Rottweiler dog at the bar that kept snapping at people. Other than that it was an amazing night. Food was great and service was amazing.

When we entered this busy establishment both of the young hostesses gave us pleasant greetings. As it was super busy we decided to dine at the bar. Fletcher our server quickly took care of us and checked on us constantly. Emily her cheerful colleague also helped out. I asked for a Caesar Salad with a medium rare salmon. The cooks did an outstanding job and prepared the salmon exactly the way I wanted it. Thanks Four Corners for looking after us. We hope to return one day.

On our visit to Chapel Hill we decided to try Four Corners for lunch. We felt a great vibe as soon as we stepped in the door. Enough TVs to have all of the games on and everyone was enjoying ourselves. Our waitress was fantastic. She smiled, checked on us to make sure everything was okay, and made our experience that much better. I my son and I had the Carolina burger while my wife had the club. You talk about good, the food will have you making yummy sounds all day. The chili on the Carolina burger was delicious. It had beans in it and chunks of tomato. Any that escaped my burger was eagerly eaten with my fork or sopped up with my tots. They had the perfect amount of crispiness without being burned. My wife and son had the sweeat potato fries which they raved about. You need to try this place if you're in the area. By the way, if you are unsure what Four Corners refers to just look at your coaster, it is drawn out for you.

This place is cool. I ordered the Parmsean Garlic Wings with the bone in. Not bad. It lacked salt. And the perfect balance of salt is key. Otherwise, these would have been great. The flavor of the wing was fine. I ordered a side of fries. I normally don't like breaded fries but those were good. I ordered the Beez Neez cocktail. It was 😋. I loved it. I would try this place again to try other items on the menu to be sure that I can stick with this rating today. The reason being is that a while ago, I did order takeout and it was amazing!! I remember that ordered some wings, mixed fried veggies with pickles, and some other things and I enjoyed it.

Might As Well Bar & Grill is a fantastic spot in Chapel Hill that perfectly blends a laid-back atmosphere with the excitement of sports. This inviting sports bar offers an impressive menu featuring mouthwatering pizzas, juicy burgers, and crispy wings, all complemented by an extensive selection of beers on tap. With cozy patio seating and numerous TVs showcasing various games, it’s the ideal place to unwind with friends or family.
Good food and a nice place for us even with the family. (Note that they have Kids eats free on Sundays). We come on a weekend when students were not fully back yet so the place feels relaxed and quiet- which was what we needed for the day. We will definitely come back again. Our waitress Maisie was amazing. Maisie was patient and nice. She answered all of our questions.

This was my first time in the restaurant and definitely not a great first impression. I guess I should have looked at the recent reviews prior to going here. It appears Might as Well has been on a constant low review streak so hopefully soon management will realize that there is an issue somewhere. We ordered a steak thinking for almost $20 it has to be good. Nope…steak was requested to be medium and came out almost still raw. We had waited a while already so we were not about to send the food back and wait longer. We opted to take it home and cook it more. (see photo) The atmosphere seemed great and I would definitely go back for some drinks, but it is more than likely that I would not go back for food/service. The service was SLOW! There was only about 25 people in the restaurant/bar at the time so it was not busy. Overall not a great experience, and I would recommend eating elsewhere.

Rolled into campus to watch UNC for the sweet 16 NCAA March Madness Tournament. Definitely one of the hot spots to watch a big game on campus. Awesome specials and a huge menu. We saw many drink towers come out that look awesome to share with a group, like bottle service in a club but for a sports bar. Specials everyday!

Solid burger but some crunchy pickles would have made it better. It was a filling meal. Worth a try if you’re in the area hungry and looking for something fairly quick.

Me and my family went for dinner. We were seated right away. The music playing created a fun atmosphere. Our server Maisie was the sweetest and delivered exceptional customer service. Food was decent. Would definitely recommend based off the great service we received.

Went here with some buddies to watch NBA playoffs over the weekend. Great vibe and a ton of TVs. Got our food and drinks fast too despite it being crowded. The wings had to be the best I've had in the triangle but there was a great selection beyond just the wings. Overall one of the top places I've been in Chapel Hill to watch sports/eat/drink.

We got our beers after 30 minutes of waiting while they just needed to open up 3 bottles! We were 11 people, 4 of us got our orders (shrimp wrap, burger, nachos, and wings) after 45 minutes while when we had finished our dinner, 3 of us did not get theirs yet! The quality of the service was so tribble! I never recommend the Nachos, I can cook a much better burger at home, and shrimp wrap was not bad! I liked the wings though! I had hot and garlic sauces with blue cheese with it!
Mojtaba Z — Google review
I really enjoyed myself, played a little pool basketball and listened to some music!! They also have plenty of TV’s with plenty of sports and shows to watch. I ordered the firecracker Shrimp and Fries!! The shrimp was great and the fries were hot!! my cousin ordered a 8oz sirloin steak w/ garlic mashed potatoes. She said the steak was good but there was nothing garlic about the potatoes She said they took a baked potato and chopped it up. As far as anything else, I would recommend this spot to someone if they’re looking for somewhere to go grab a bite and play a little pool!!

Video arcade
The Baxter Arcade is a unique spot that combines the nostalgia of arcade games with the ambiance of a bar. Located on Graham St., it offers a wide selection of over 50 arcade and pinball machines, including classics like Mortal Kombat and Pac-Man. The decor is described as "nerd-chic," featuring action hero models and even a Millennium Falcon hanging from the ceiling. Visitors can enjoy a pint of beer or cocktail while challenging friends to games like NBA Jam or Turtles in Time.
Being Gen X, I loved being able to play all my old favorite arcade games here. Loved the pinball machines too. The new mandolorian pinball game was awesome. Great atmosphere. We went on the weekend for family day. My kid is grown, but I loved seeing the younger kids being able to play the vintage games. The bar has other events like trivia, so I will definitely go back!
Kristy H — Google review
Excellent options for arcade games and pinball, ample amounts of space and a decent beer selection. I left out stars in the food department merely due to fact that there isn't food available but every other facet is on point. Never tough to get timely service.
Randall K — Google review
Awesome arcade bar. Interesting selection of beers, including some cool local breweries (I got a great milk stout), and a small set of beers on tap. Plenty of places to sit inside and a few tables outside. The vibe of the place, including the staff, is genuinely cool. There are a few machines (20 or so) that mainly consist of pinball with videogames. Games usually cost $0.5 in quarters, although it could be more (pinball $1). It's okay, but it does let you get carried away as in other arcades that charge to get in or only charge for the drinks. Pretty lively for a mid-June Tuesday night. If I lived in Chapel Hill I'd visit them often.
Alejandro N — Google review
Personally my favorite arcade because they have lots of games that are retro and a bunch of new games at the same time. It's not like your Dave& Buster's, but it's a good mix between an old arcade and a new arcade with beer. I've been there twice already and each time is a new experience. The first time was just me getting what I wanted and playing games and then the second time they were having some sort of event with local artists that design clothes and such. I'm sure they'd be open up to other events as well if the community wants. The bathrooms are clean and also really cool. For me personally I play fighting games so there was one arcade machine that had a lot of them on it. Oh and don't worry If you want to bring your kids here that's totally fine. They have soda for kids and a good selection of alcoholic beverages for the adults.
Isabel H — Google review
I went here with my sister and her boyfriend while visiting them. It is a very unique and fun place. We went to watch the UNC game and enjoy some drinks. It was nice that it wasn't too crowded, so we could grab a table and play some games. They have a nice selection of drinks and everyone was very friendly. Definitely worth checking out.

Sooo good! Arcade games are on point, as well as the vibe. Plenty of space to enjoy the night. The bartender, Alex, is phenomenal! He didn’t hesitate to alter any drinks I ordered and made me feel super welcome. Can’t wait to come back

Fun times. Nice place. There's a quarter dispenser inside. Test the pinball machine before putting a quarter in it. Same as when I was a kid, some machines will just eat your quarters, and pushing the coin return does nothing.

Good parking, good food nearby, and the same great vibes, people, and beer selection. Still in early days but more drink options are coming. Pop by to see the two nicest bathrooms in Carrboro.

Definitely did not feel welcome. Bartender was not very kind and was very short with the interactions even though he was chatting it up with the other people there. Felt very excluded. Drinks were okay… wish we had some explanation on the drink types and recommendations but … nice claw machines and good variety of wines. Very stylish in there and had good decorations !

Great draft list, not-so-typical cool ambiance, and friendly staff. There’s a variety of bottled beers from all over the world: everything from IPAs to sours to German/Belgian wheat beers. There’s an outdoor area as well which gets pretty crowded on the weekends. Highly recommend stopping by here for a beer.

Last time I was here the love of my life emptied (on accident) his drink all down my front and the only thing I could think about was how sad it was that so much tasty, tasty beer had been spilled in vain! The menu features dishes like pea and scallion dumplings and grass-fed beef sashimi, showcasing flavors from faraway places with a local touch. In addition to its culinary offerings, Lantern also participates in community initiatives such as the Kitchen Patrol program, teaching children about healthy eating and cooking.
Actually really love this spot. Upscale Asian fusion food. Unique items on the menu. Steak, dumplings, catfish, salmon bento box & poached pear mousse were my highlights. Candle lit ambient environment. Really nice outdoor seating in the summer. Warning: many things have cilantro. Perfect for a celebratory dinner.

We had a great graduation lunch here before the ceremony. The whole fish was excellent and had a great seasoning. Everyone loved their beef course as well. Service was fantastic also. We enjoyed the June bug drink , similar to a Pimm’s Cup.

If you’re looking for fine dining in Chapel Hill the answer is Lantern. We were simply blown away by the quality, presentation, atmosphere, and service. Our server Sophia was very attentive and knowledgeable, and the back patio was the perfect ambience for our dinner date. Stars of the show were the spicy cucumber soup, pork & chive dumplings, and the mint chocolate ice cream 😍😍😍 (best mint chip ice cream I’ve had in my life) HIGHLY recommend!!!

Delicious! The BBQ'D COUNTRY PORK RIB was the best pork I’ve had … maybe ever. Such a delicious sauce!!!! Service was EXTREMELY attentive - with multiple people making sure we had placed our orders/our water was full/etc. The Hot Chocolate Cake was divine. As someone who recently moved from ATL - this restaurant exceeded my expectations and made me excited to try more restaurants around Chapel Hill. It certainly wasn’t cheap - perhaps bordering on being over priced but who am I to dictate their menu!! The food doesn’t disappoint.
Hannah H — Google review
Fusion food with local fresh ingredients. We went there for dinner. Not too many options on menu which is not a bad thing. Ordered chaat and salt-pepper shrimp for appetizers and both were amazing. Crispy cilantro with shrimp reminded us of some authentic Indian food from back home. Chaat was different than typical Indian style chaat. Great combination of ingredients. For mains I ordered vegetable stew. Wife and kid ordered whole NC wild fish. I loved the veggie stew but fish was interesting. It was whole bass with head and bones. It’s took a little bit of work to get the flesh. Taste was decent and our least favorite item for dinner. Dessert was amazing. We had Hot chocolate cake and warm yuzu pudding. Both were delicious. Service was excellent. Took a little while to find parking. There are two paid parking lots next to the restaurant.

Loved this place. The atmosphere is classy, warm and homey. The ladies who served us were well dressed, especially the one in training. The food was unique. I loved the crispy shrimp , the dumplings, the steak. I would have loved my salmon little bit more cooked but that's my fault. Loved the crispy green spices, never had them fried like that. The bill was hefty but it was so worth it. Loved the drink. The ginger was very present!

A hot place for undergrad and grad students to visit. They let us throw a big Bollywood part with a minimum order. We doubled that due to our great turnout. It’s more congested than other bars but the people are great and the food serves its purpose. Check out trivia night and watch a little TikTok before you do ;).

Service was really terrible. We had to wait at the bar for someone to care enough to sit us down and then we had to wait at the bar again to try to order food. All of the food we got was over cooked and dry. And yet again, we had to stand at the bar and wait to pay so that we could finally leave. Mind you this place was probably at 20% capacity. There was even one person behind the bar who just watched me standing there and did nothing.

TOPO Distillery, also known as Top of the Hill Distillery, offers tours and tastings at its facility where vodka, gin, and whiskey are crafted from locally grown wheat. The distillery is a creation of Scott Maitland and Esteban McMahan, the minds behind Chapel Hill's beloved Top of the Hill Restaurant and Brewery. The ambiance at the distillery is industrial yet inviting, with gleaming pots and stills visible through a glass wall.
Scott was a wonderful host with his attorney and distilling background. The tour was super informative and highly recommended for those looking for a super in-depth look at the distilling process. Great product.

A great tour with a great guide! Honestly my favorite booze tour in the triangle thus far. Very informative and the taste test is awesome. Really gives you a chance to sample the difference between their product and other competitors. Highly recommend if you're around and have the time.
Carlos R — Google review
We have been customers of TOPO for a couple of years now. We live in Pittsburgh but have lots of friends and family in NC. This past summer we did the distillery tour which was AWESOME (definitely do that if you haven't). Everyone who works there is awesome and the restaurant is great as well. After the tour I purchased the whiskey aging kit as a gift for my mom. It was pretty pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. My mom recently informed me that the barrel had broken and the whiskey had gone all over the floor, she did not get to enjoy any of it. Apparently there were instructions that indicated you can not age it more than 4 months, I was not aware of this because I did not open it with her nor did I confirm with her how long she had aged it. I had a conversation via email with them just now and they got back to me within seconds, they are sending me a replacement directly to my mom's house here in Pittsburgh basically no questions asked. IF THAT ISN'T INCREDIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS. I've always spoken highly of their products (their gin is the only gin I will touch) but this experience just gave me more reasons to talk about how absolutely wonderful they are. We need to stock back up on our TOPO whiskey, gin and vodka so I'm sure we will be back in the near future. Thank you again for your excellent customer service.
Samantha D — Google review
We toured TOPO last Saturday and had a great experience. The owner performs the tours himself and is very knowledgeable about the distilling process. He gave us a full run-down of why they exist, how they got there, and how the products are made. I definitely recommend you get a tour if you're interested in how distilling works!
Josh D — Google review
Very informative and pleasant experience with the distillery, and super excited that it's organic and local. We decided to stop here on our road trip through town and were not disappointed. Tasted the vodka and were happy with it so we decided to purchase a variety of spirits to bring home.

This was such a great tour! The guide was incredibly informative and funny! It was really neat to see how these spirits are made and tasting the difference between TOPO and not-Topo was amazing. I will be picking up some bottles on my next trip to the store, so smooth!

The Mule seems to attract a slightly more mature crowd, and has a relaxed atmosphere. We sat on the front patio and watched a fight on the big screen TV, enjoyed the peppery popcorn and piping hot southern egg rolls, while people chatted around us. My only word of caution: the AC unit inside dripped like crazy all over the floor, but the bartender didn't seem to mind the lawsuit-waiting-to-happen if someone broke their neck walking to the restroom! C'est la vie!

Amazing chicken nachos worth a try. Beer? They got plenty but noticed most people orders PBR. Chill small dive bar where local older folks hang out til 7pm and when the clock strikes at 8pm the young ones comes pouring in. Definitely worth checking out to chill or hang out or just a night cap.

I had a non-alcoholic apertif, which was good, but it cost $10! That’s pretty steep for a non-alcoholic drink! The atmosphere was really pleasant through!
Naba M — Google review
Atmosphere: It is walking distance from the hotel, and it may seem like a typical college bar at first, but it has more of a "Cheers" atmosphere. Everyone knows everyone. It is a house converted into a restaurant/bar. Limited seating inside, with 4-5 seats at the bar and a few tables in the main area. Another room towards the back. I went during winter break with two buddies. It was still pretty steady, and we were the only ones that weren't regulars. We joked that we felt like we were sitting in someone's seat every time a "regular" came in but were made to feel welcomed. Service: Hands down, service was great! Shannon was accommodating, super friendly, and personable. As stated, we weren't her regulars, but she made us feel very welcomed and treated us like we were. She provided the same great level of service to us as she did everyone else. Food (and drinks): Their specialty "Mules" are a must try. Drink prices are very reasonable and have a decent selection to choose from. There are lots of BBQ options as well, but I opted for the Chili special. It came in a large bowl with hush puppies. 4.9 out of 5 only because I'm not a fan of beans, but it was still phenomenal! I'm definitely looking forward to going back here again.

Fun trivia on Wednesdays at 9pm. Outdoor and indoor seating. Tons of beer / cider on tap. Lively vibe. Super busy on game days. But overall, good energy and a hit. There is a bouncer at the front before getting in so you only need to show ID once. A bit of a line at the bar when it’s busy.

Unprofessional service from the bouncer on a game day. I understand busy service days yet it does excuse disrespectful behavior.

This establishment displayed discriminatory practices. When I approached the bar to order a drink, I observed white people being served ahead of me, despite arriving after I had. The bartender ignored me entirely until my white friend stepped up, at which point he immediately took her order. The blatant mistreatment was unacceptable and deeply troubling. The bartender, an older man whom I suspect to be the owner, displayed behavior that should not be tolerated in any setting.

Don’t not act like an entitled spoiled brat in this place or the whole place will gang up on you lol. This place feels like family tbh. Love this bar.

truly a hidden gem…as a native to the area I was shocked that I never knew about this place. I recently moved back to town. I really enjoy the genuine friendliness and hospitality from everyone, even down to when the kitchen brings your food sometimes. The bartenders are really nice and the drinks are delicious. Nice prices as well. I really love the wu-tang slider. The chipotle maple wings are also yummy. overall, 10/10

Cat’s Cradle is a renowned 750-seat concert venue with a rich history of nurturing local talent in Chapel Hill. Having hosted iconic acts like Nirvana, Public Enemy, and REM, the venue has been a significant player in the music scene for nearly half a century. Now located in Carrboro, it continues to be a haven for rock and punk music while also providing space for up-and-coming bands.
kinda hidden, hard to get to but great vibe for Water From Your Eyes, they put on a clutch rock show. also Her New Knife was badass, great grunge feel.

Great intimate place to see a concert. Went and saw Ethan Regan perform and the venue actually was really good for a smaller concert event! Much better access to musicians and acoustics worked well. Regan gave a great concert as well!

Cat's Cradle is a great venue. They always have a lineup of great musical acts on their stage. Prices at the bar are reasonable. Seating outside if you need to get some air or smoke/vape, which is not allowed indoors. Don't forget your hearing protection! 😀

Simply the best in the area for indie shows. Sound is great, everything is affordable, and the crowds are enjoyable people to be around. We've always had good times there!
Connor S — Google review
One of the best live music venues. Everyone is so nice and they don’t over charge for water. They were handing out bottles of water to the crowd all night when it was crowded. Parking is easy and there’s lots of great restaurants close by.
Mindy H — Google review
Early show disappointment. A band we love was playing two shows the same day. We bought tickets to both the early and later show. What a mistake! We had waited about an hour to get into the early show to get a good spot. When the early show was released, there were about 300 people in line. The ‘manager’ made us go to the very back of the line. We we not in line because we had paid to be in your venue and were buying drinks at your bar… there were less than 10 people who had tickets to both, so it would not have been a big deal to manage. I understand they needed to clean and refresh and move people out of the venue, but to make us walk to the end of the line is terrible customer service. While the music was great and the sound was good, this horrible management decision will have us negatively adjusting our purchasing of tickets at this venue in the future.

Still Life Chapel Hill is a premier destination for those seeking an upscale nightlife experience. This vibrant venue offers an array of entertainment options, including live DJs and bands, along with special events that keep the energy high. Guests can enjoy VIP treatment in various spaces such as the drink bar, sky lounge, and loft area. The rooftop setting provides stunning views over Franklin Street, making it a unique spot for gatherings like happy hours or private parties.
StillLife made our event truly unforgettable! Mark was amazing, and his team was incredibly kind and accommodating. For the final night of our big sales meeting, we did a full buyout of the venue. They made it magical, starting with appetizers in the Loft, followed by dinner in the terrace room, and then they helped us transform the club area into a mini casino for the night's event. I would absolutely return to StillLife without hesitation – everyone there is exceptional, and they really rolled out the red carpet for us!

Me and my friends rented out the space for a large celebration we were hosting, and everything was perfect. Management was incredibly amenable and accommodating and provided us with an awesome experience. The space was beautiful and offered a variety for people who wanted to sit or stand. Bartenders were PHENOMENAL, easy to chat with, and made great drinks. Bartenders knew exactly what to play and kept the vibe up. Overall, if I could rent this venue for everything I WOULD. Truly left me and my friends with plenty of great memories.

Had our wedding reception at StillLife. It was THE best! From the beginning Mark was the easiest and most accommodating vendor. And there were some hardships to overcome from last min planning and requests to having our cupcake vendor quit day of leaving Mark to set up the cupcake display himself. We could bring in decorations and StillLife helped string lights up in the rooftop bar. The DJ was amazing, the photographer captured lovely moments, and the bartenders Hannah and Cameron were the bees knees 🫶 I want to redo the whole day over again because it was beyond perfect. Thank you Mark and StillLife staff for having fun with us.

What a great place for a private event. Thank you Cameron for making our daughter’s Wedding weekend start off amazing- from the beautiful back loft to the DJ and photographer at the private welcome party. We couldn’t have asked for better accommodations. Everyone loved it! ❤️❤️

The day before my graduation I went to go party with friends. I wore a crop top that showed off my mid-riff and a cardigan that covered me up mostly. I get to the bouncer at the door and they flat out told me that because my Driver’s license says M and I was wearing a crop top, that I wasn’t allowed to go in. “dress code” and whatnot. Two girls ahead of me were able to wear the same thing, if not even more revealing and yet I was turned away. Don’t waste your time at this place. Bad music, overpriced drinks, bad vibes all together.

A wedding to remember thanks to Still Life! We recently celebrated our daughter‘s wedding at Still life, and I can’t say enough about how phenomenal the entire experience was! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to make the day absolutely perfect. Mark, was truly a blessing, there wasn’t a single request he didn’t honor, even stepping in seamlessly when another vendor dropped the ball. His professionalism, kindness, and can do attitude made all the difference, especially since we live in Virginia. The venue itself is stunning, the service was top-notch, and on a fun side note… The old-fashioned cocktails were hands-down the best I’ve ever had! To anyone considering still life for a wedding, special event, even just a night out book them! You will not be disappointed. We are so grateful for the memories that they helped us create. With heartfelt, thanks, Proud parents of the bride

We worked with Still Life to host a professional happy hour and couldn't recommend them enough! Mark was great, accommodating us by giving me a tour of the venue prior to us booking and making sure we were squared away financially ASAP. There aren't very many rooftop bars in Chapel Hill, and this one was perfect for what we needed: A fabulous space with great beer/wine/seltzers overlooking Franklin Street. An added bonus: They work with IP3, which catered our event, so the catering process was seamless. They also have an accessible elevator, which is a huge win for a second story business in Chapel Hill. I can't recommend them enough for your next happy hour!

Club Still life is an excellent venue for private parties!! We had a 200 person grad even there recently and couldn't have been happier - everyone had a blast! Mark Machizzga, the manager, was incredibly easy to work with - always with an answer of "YES, we can do that!" His bartending team was awesome - fun and flexible. We rented the two rooms on the top floor and brought in some catering for dinner. Mark made it all so easy - helping to coordinate the catering, the serving, and all the vendors we had come to make deliveries that day. He even brought in a band to make the party really fun! I am very happy we hosted the party at Club Still life - it couldn't have gone better.

Love this branch of the OC Public Library. Free public parking across the street and there's a pedestrian crosswalk from the parking lot to the main entrance. It's a quiet library with lots of natural light that floods the room, perfect for reading. The staff is super friendly and welcoming and will eagerly answer any questions you may have or give you guidance. I come here mostly to use the computers so I can print off shipping labels, it's such a quick and easy process. There's always local artists art on display and there's usually flyers of classes and stuff like that that the community is offering to folks. They have books, comics and movies you can check out as long as you have a library card.

Steel String Brewery in Carrboro is a trendy taproom with an industrial-chic vibe, offering a selection of house craft brews and outdoor seating. The brewery's signature Rubber Room Ale is made with locally grown rye and New Zealand Motueka hops, resulting in refreshing flavors of lime, grapefruit, and biscuit. Another popular choice is the Manzanita Black IPA, which combines the characteristics of an IPA and a porter with rich notes of chocolate and coffee.
Good brews especially the stouts, watermelon wheat, and raspberry kombucha. Service is excellent. Good place to stop in, chill, and have a couple brews. There is outside seating and live music certain days.

This place is great! We were here for the Carrboro Music Festival so it was more packed than normal. We had a lot of fun and their beers were delicious. I don’t think they serve food- maybe snacks. Big line, but it moved quickly! Great Staff!!Community vibes, outdoor spaces available for seating, nice stage and great bands. Family friendly, especially outside felt like kids could play and adults could relax with a drink. I ran into a bunch of UNC alumni there, but it didn’t have any frat boy energy, more like locals. We’ve been to their sister site out on 54 and that place was wonderful as well. Go check it out!

The drinks are nice, yes, and -- it's impossible to overstate how much this place changed my life while I lived in CH/Carrboro. I'm a musician, and met 85% of my friends here. It's SUCH a lovely and welcoming place. Especially for creatives. Matt's open mic is super special. It's the only one like it that I've ever experienced. I've moved away, but don't know that I'll find another one like it. The comedy nights are also top notch. Josh and Rosie run it, and they're great. They have a lot of other events as well, but I personally stuck to mostly music and comedy. Definitely check it out :) I really don't see how you could regret it. Cheers :)

Loved Latin dance night, super inviting crowd and organizers. Thanks to Florence for getting this solo rider on the dance floor for a couple hours. Eventually everyone was dancing. Music was authentic mixed with some club tunes. I enjoyed myself and made new friends. Very open and welcoming group. Look forward to the next time. Got a stout which was quite sweet for my preference ($8).

This place was so cute! I was there for an event, Pork in the Road’s shrimp boil -delicious, and the atmosphere was great. Pretty large patio with a clean and spacious inside. The 2 guys behind the bar were both happy to be there and the whole vibe was cool from the decorations & exposed brick to the beer selection, well-hosted event, and clientele. Some of my favorite uncommon songs played too so pretty stoked about that. Clean bathrooms & very easy parking across the street in a public parking lot.

The restaurant prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients to create delicious dishes that cater to various dietary needs, including gluten-free options clearly marked on the dine-in menu.
First time visiting and was very happy! Great cocktails to start, followed by delicious Brussel sprouts. The fried chicken is to die for and the pulled pork dish is really yummy!

Fantastic southern food restaurant with succulent classics, including pulled pork, honey glazed cornbread, and fried chicken. The food is served sort of tapas-style, which is great for sharing. Although individual meals is what we ended up doing. Loved every bite!

We must of got there at the right time (6.30pm - Saturday) as we didn't have to wait for a table. We got promptly sat down and drinks ordered. I ordered a espresso martini and my boyfriend got the mint julip. Both great! We ordered the tuna crudo and devilled eggs to start and the tuna appetizer was one of the best apps we have had in a long time! Deviled eggs were the only disappointment of the night. They tasted like nothing - not even eggs haha. Honestly we didn't care because the rest was so great. My boyfriend got the rice and beans and he was blown away by how the flavors all came together so well. The chow chow made it. I ordered the gumbo - it was incredible. The cornbread was the star of the show - its sweet and decedant and slightly savory. Order it - you won't regret it.
Kasia R — Google review
We’d passed by this place several times not assuming much from the outside. We finally gave it a shot and got an amazing spot on the back patio. Every dish was fantastic, but the deviled eggs and hush puppies will keep us coming back. The cocktails were also fantastic. The back patio area is insanely cool. The staff is very friendly. The brownie sundae dessert was the absolute cherry on top of the whole meal. Carrboro has yet to disappoint for restaurants.

Literally made with love. This restaurant is creative and yummy! Feeding large groups is hard but this owner/chef takes time to craft the perfect menus. And adds such perfect flavors. You cannot go wrong with anything they serve. And I have not even been there for brunch yet. Which I hear is to die for!

High quality, hyper local modern take on southern classics! Highlighting seasonal ingredients that will make you coming back for more. Was fortunate to come in the high of tomato season. Had a wonderful appetizer showcasing the best of NC produce, paired with fantastic local cheese and a house made pesto. Mains were wonderful as well! The fried chicken is a must and the smoked hog is a true masterpiece. Only frustration of the evening was being full from the app and main course so i cant tell you how amazing the desserts would had been! Oh and also highlight a great NA drink menu as well as a ton of creative cocktails. One of the top spots I've tried in the triangle.

Came in on a Friday afternoon for a dinner date. Nice atmosphere and parking is relatively easy to find if it’s after 6pm- just park behind the buildings. Short ribs were fork tender and chimichurri was on point. We also ordered the pulled pork plate that came with slaw, Mac n cheese and some fried green tomato croutons. Serving size was generous. Food was delicious. Service was slow- took about 10 minutes to even get drink service, but server was very friendly- for 2 dinners and no apps, took 1.5 hours, which seemed excessive. I will still come back.
SA C — Google review
Food was bad & overpriced. Paid $21 for a BLT that was served deconstructed on a lunch-like tray with a tomato that still had the stem in. The bread was soggy and barely toasted, sauces were flavorless, overall the dish construction was just odd and poorly executed. The southern tomato pie was okay some bites, and aggressively over salted others. Crust was also soggy. Not sure if the pie was meant to be completely liquid inside? Anyways, somebody should probably consider doing some quality control.

Unhinged and Dangerous Bartender – Avoid at All Costs I’ve put off writing this, but after what happened tonight, it needs to be said. One of the bartenders at this place, Karen (ironically) has had a clear problem with me for a while — for no reason other than I don’t play into her insecure, petty power trips. I don’t buy her attention, her bs, or her validation, and apparently that sets her off. Tonight, she crossed a line. She tried to physically attack me — knocking a drink out of my hand — and this was after she deliberately added other people’s charges to my tab. This wasn’t a mistake. It was targeted, hostile, and completely unacceptable behavior. Multiple people saw it happen, and not a single one of them was surprised. That should tell you something. No one I know who goes here likes her. She’s known for being problematic. Management needs to get serious about who they let represent their bar before someone truly gets hurt.

Nestled in the heart of Chapel Hill, The Cave is a legendary underground venue that exudes an intimate and cozy atmosphere. With a capacity of just 75 people, it offers an up-close experience with live music almost every night. Music enthusiasts will appreciate the eclectic lineup featuring local and touring acts, many of whom are on their way to stardom—think Arcade Fire's early days! The staff here are all musicians themselves, creating a vibrant community where talent thrives.
I didn’t eat here. This place is the most perfect dive bar I have been to. Drinks are cheap, bands are very eccentric and not too loud.

The bar is super cool itself and definitely a vibe, however the bartenders for the night of 9/26 late night had horrible attitudes. It’s my birthday on Monday (9/29) so I simply asked if there were any birthday drinks and a simple no would’ve sufficed but he said definitely not if it’s in 2 days. it was a simple question?? could’ve just said no and then continued to mock me and say “oh my birthday is in 3 weeks i want a shot” that response was sassy and unacceptable. other then the bartender, the spot is cool!
Jasmin W — Google review
Popped in early yesterday while the place was still empty, so took a bunch of pictures to post while had the opportunity. Enjoy! Oldest bar in town, and it still retains so much from its 1968 founding. If you've been here before over the years, you'll notice a few changes, such as updated air venting and, of course, furniture, but in essence, little has changed. Biggest change? No thick clouds of cigarette smoke obscuring the view as it was in yesteryears; no smoking and better ventilation make for a very pleasant upgrade! Can still have a game of pool, pop out the back door, enjoy a good variety at the bar, and catch an ever changing eclectic mix of local talent and living legends live on a stage that really makes for an intimate experience. With so many restaurants and shops nearby, there's every reason to make an afternoon and evening of it! Oh, and as for those restrooms,... they are unusual, rustic, small... but not actually bad... they just aren't up to 'modern expectations' of slick uniform construction and display. With so many changes in the world today, it is great to know some places don't!

Slither on down to The Cave for a dark and dingy good time! If you like low, moody ceilings, funky live music, look no further than this dusty dive bar. The bartenders are sassy and fun, and you'll never know what kind of crowd you'll rub elbows with in this tight-squeeze underworld.

On the surface It’s objectively a cool looking place with decent affordable drinks and interesting live bands It is unfortunately also super woke ,dirty, and judgmental. Expect to be kicked out if you don’t agree with the BLM violence, theft and murders,Biden’s obvious failures or any other independent criticism related to their agenda. These people want you to live in a town covered in propaganda telling you what to think.
Rico H — Google review
I had a deeply disappointing and upsetting experience at The Cave. When I noticed Pride flags around the venue, I politely asked if they were doing anything special for Pride Month. Instead of a friendly or even neutral response, the staff member I spoke with, a white man in his 30s with medium-length brown hair, was incredibly rude and dismissive. When I then tried to order a drink, he flat-out refused to serve me. He didn’t even ask for my ID (I’m 27), just immediately shut me down, purely because I’m gay and had asked about Pride. He wouldn’t even make eye contact with me. It was blatant discrimination, and I left feeling shocked and humiliated. For a bar that displays Pride flags, I expected basic decency and inclusion—not hostility. If you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community or support it, I’d strongly encourage you to reconsider visiting this place. No one deserves to be treated like this.

Cool place. I really dug it. Very small which in my opinion makes it feel more exclusive. 2 separate rooms. In the front a nice 12 foot? bar and a little hallway takes you back to a nice lounge and billiards room. Easy access to the back door for tobacco users (which I'm not anymore, but still find convenient). Very cool vibe for small intimate shows. Would be great for a little 3 piece band to play or solo acoustic act. I went to support my buddy doing a hip hop/rap act and it had a good time.

If I could leave 0 stars I would. I had an appointment with Sydney Hill for an all over dimensional blonde session. I showed her photos of what I wanted (which came out perfectly with someone else who moved away 4 months prior, so I knew it was possible for my hair) and I left with a disaster. I was charged full price for all over color when she only colored the top 1/4 section of my hair, and the color was ONLY added to the ends which were already blonde. This left my otherwise healthy hair with extremely broken and brittle ends & the grown out roots I made the appointment to correct. When expressing my concerns to Sydney, she was not receptive AT ALL and said that there was miscommunication. She then sent a message stating that “I should find someone else who better suits me☺️” and then blocked me. I do not recommend Sydney Hill at Salon Lofts. She is unprofessional and not willing to correct or own up to her mistakes, and also extremely pricey for the work she provides. Photos online showing her work are very deceiving. Attached are photos of my hair after my appointment showing that I was charged for a service I definitely did not receive. I NEVER post bad reviews, but being taken advantage of & being blocked by a professional stylist is absurd!
Victoria B — Google review
Went to Jerra Collins for a full highlight as a blonde already, came out patchy and yellow (she didn’t tone it just bleached and washed) and overcharged me almost $100 on the service. I paid for a full highlight and style, she just blow dried my hair and never styled it. Very disappointed, wish I had spoken up but she only lets you see it at the end so I didn’t realize just how bad my hair looked. If you’re going to pay almost $300 for a service, please go elsewhere (advertised as $200 though).
Kimberley B — Google review
I never leave reviews especially negative ones but I have to with this situation. I’m not going to name the stylist, maybe she just had a really bad day. However, I paid over $300 for the worse hair appointment I have ever received. I recently moved and needed to find a new salon. I saw a few negative reviews for this salon and many positive so decided to give it a try. I needed balayage touched up and brightened. Also told her she could trim my hair half an inch due to me growing it back out. I recently cut off 6 inches already. I left with at least 2 inches cut and bright yellow/orange hair. She literally bleached my whole head with foils. I’m still completely in shock and confused. I am thankfully a licensed professional and had to buy toner and recut my hair. My husband was also in shock and instantly noticed how uneven the cut was. When I went to fix my own hair, I could not believe how uneven it actually was. I needed up having to take another inch an a half just to even it out. Also ended up toning it darker to cover the mess she caused. In all paid about $400 after the supplies for me to correct this. She claimed to be a color specialist and I do not see how. Be cautious going here. As a licensed professional I will never go there again or refer anyone. I have decided I will make the 2 hour drive to my regular stylist. Hope this helps someone else!

I booked for a haircut with Jerra because she seemed to have a lot of good reviews, I don’t doubt that she’s a talented stylist but I am not happy with my appointment. Perhaps she was not having a good day, I felt like she had an attitude of not really wanting to be there. She did not introduce herself to me but instead went right into complaining about her previous client. I had to steer the conversation back to my hair and showed her some pictures of what I wanted, which she looked at briefly, but the consultation lasted a few seconds and I didn’t feel like I was truly heard. The last time a got a haircut I gave it to myself (I know it’s a bad idea but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do) and I recognize that my hair didn’t look great, but she made me feel self conscious about the way that it looked (I’m hoping not intentionally) pointing out how uneven it was in not the most gentle way. When I left the salon I felt fine about my haircut, she had styled it and it looked like the references I showed her, but after washing it I’m realizing that it is not a very good haircut. It’s uneven and jagged, I’ve added photos showing how uneven. I will say that her prices are fair and she’s quick (although in this case I wish she had taken her time to double check her work). My overall experience was just uncomfortable and I most likely won’t be rebooking with her.

Jerra is AMAZING!!! From regular treatments to extentions to fixing damage to just trying something new (she also does coloring and fun cuts)... I cannot imagine my hair life without her!

I normally do not post negative reviews, however, I think other people should be aware prior to booking. I was a surprised by how much hair was taken off on my recent cut by my stylist, Noushin. I thought prior to the haircut I was clear that I was interested in trimming the dead ends and shaping the front, but I noticed today several inches (I estimate over 3) were removed from the back. I put a side by side of my hair last weekend compared to my hair today for reference. When I reached out to the stylist, she responded “Please look at your short layer in first picture. I blend your hair with your layer which means I pull your hair more to the back and cut to leave the hair as long as possible and make your layer more blend and even.” I understand what she was saying, but I did not ask her to do that—l specifically asked for a trim and emphasized I wanted to keep the length. Over 3 inches is a very significant amount of length and that should have been explicitly communicated with me prior to cutting if she felt that was what needed to be done. Overall, I’m extremely disappointed—both by the haircut and the lack of an apology/accountability from the stylist. I was hoping to find a regular stylist at this salon, but it seems I will have to go elsewhere.

Do your research on who you book with. I’m sure there are lots of great stylists here but this is how I left looking after a full highlight in loft 8 (three pics attached) Please note, these are all separate salons, that’s why I said do your research on Facebook/Instagram etc. It was not cheap either! I had to get a color correction from a different salon the next day (last pic is after color correction from a salon in Charlotte) I could not walk around looking like that. It was so embarrassing! I give two stars still because I like the privacy of the lofts.
