Lunch restaurant
Located in New Paltz, Main Street Bistro is a casual and welcoming eatery that has been serving up delicious American breakfasts, lunches, and weekend brunches for decades. This modest joint offers hearty meals in a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a satisfying meal. Whether you're looking for creative egg breakfast choices or generous portions of fresh ingredients, this bistro has something to offer.
We found this place randomly one Sunday so we decided to try it out. It was very busy and the servers were very short. The food was fantastic and we have been back multiple times since. I would chalk up the service experience the first time to business. The service was much better the other times we went and the food continued to be excellent. The trailblazer is my favorite dish. The crab cakes are so absolutely delicious. We will be back many times again! Do not miss out on this gem of a place.
Robert G — Google review
My boyfriend and I got recommended this place for breakfast and went to check it out! The place was super busy (we went on a Saturday morning), and the food took a while to come out, but overall we enjoyed the food and thought the place was super nice!
Jensine R — Google review
Very popular but you can see why good fast friendly service and great food dishes The Salmon hash was really good. Large bustling interior caters for a crowd. You would be hard pressed to get better value. Good bottom less coffee, with a meal.
Graham S — Google review
The menu here is huge, it took us quite a while to figure out if we wanted breakfast or lunch; everything looked so good! I got the Trailblazer, which was an eggs benedict with crab cakes. It was really tasty, had a nice spicy kick to it and the eggs were nicely poached. Definitely a meal I'd come back for. My wife got the salmon hash and her friend got a burger. Both enjoyed their meals as well. Overall this place has made it to my "will come back" list, and I'm excited to try more of the menu!
Bryan T — Google review
This place without fail has some of the best breakfast in town. It will be a wait for a table, it always is, But it's worth it. My personal favorite is the trailblazer. But on that note, I have not been disappointed with any meal that I have ate here. The servers are great . Been the same staff for ages too. The vibe is nice too. Definitely worth the wait. Great food.

WOW! Visiting New Paltz, this is my girlfriend’s favorite spot. I had THE best Salmon Benedict Hash of my entire life. Our server was super informative and pleasant. The young lady who served showed us to our table had the coolest earrings. Highly recommend this place for brunch on the weekdays and get here early on the weekends. Line is out the door
Giancarlos G — Google review
From the moment you walk in, the staff makes you feel entirely at home. It's the kind of place that makes you feel like a regular, even though you're stepping in for the first time. The menu itself is really big and diverse. We ordered 3 different dishes, each was reasonably priced for what you got, and completely delicious. Will definitely stop by again.
Talal J — Google review
We were around the Catskill and decided to check this place out for breakfast as we saw good reviews however the food was very average. I got the huckleberry folic wrap which is one of their popular option, it was ok nothing to rave about, it was very average not much flavor. My fiancé had the pancake and scramble eggs. The pancake was raw not cooked long enough and the egg was bland as well. Turkey bacon wasn’t good either. Their coffee is great though and the waiter was extremely nice which made up for the average food. We will def not return as even the most basic breakfast stuff like we did get was a miss.

French restaurant
Runa Bistro, located near the village hall of New Paltz, offers a diverse range of international cuisine including French, Bengali, North African, Basque, and Vietnamese dishes. Originally a French-inspired restaurant that opened in September 2019, it has since expanded its menu to include various global flavors. What a hidden gem of a place💎 was so blessed to dine in this beautiful restaurant - chose this place last minute after a beautiful sunset hike. 🦋 locally sourced bistro food & cozy decor 🦋 great ambience & atmosphere. 🦋 inside & outside dining available 🦋 the host let us decide where to sit & we chose the comfortable/romantic corner spot outside. Our waiter was very friendly, informative & personable. 🦋 from the specials that day: we ordered the burruta salad - so good!! 🦋 poached salmon was beyond delicious! Highly recommend! . . . Overall definitely make your way here if you’re in the area. 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Beautiful restaurant inside and out, such a charming place because it looks like it was modeled inside of a house and the decor is great. I loved the drink La Belle Lune or something along those lines, unique flavor and sweet aftertaste. The service was good and the food was so rich and yummy! Definitely a big portion for my entree and the sauce was amazing on it. The brownie with ice cream was the cherry on top, we loved it (So much I forgot to take a pic until midway through it). Perfect little spot we’ve been meaning to try and it was a great choice for my birthday dinner ✨
Jayla G — Google review
We dined at Runa on a Friday night while visiting our daughter. We chose this place last minute without knowing what to expect, and it turned out to be fantastic. The staff was friendly and personable, the atmosphere was relaxing, the food was top-notch, and the cocktails were excellent. Runa is truly a hidden gem and will be our go-to dinner spot whenever we're in town. The entire experience was wonderful, and we are now big fans. Highly recommend!
Robert E — Google review
Portions are generous. The crab in cream puff pastry was the best. Asparagus was perfectly cooked but overpowered by the Caesar, beets were overpowered by the blue cheese. Clams were fine but could have used more crostini bc the bread was better used for the blue cheese from the beets. Trout was mostly tasteless, poorly seasoned overall. The clafoutis was ok but not very flavorful-ice cream was good. No dinner specials on a Monday night, only 1 mocktail. Service was attentive but generally lacking. We split everything yet weren't given a second set of plates. Napkin taken away and never replaced before dessert. No, wouldn't return.

My husband and I hosted our wedding dinner here last month which was truly extraordinary. We just love the intimate and stylish setup at the restaurant...to be able to sit at one table with our families for this occasion was beyond special and it's a meal that we will cherish forever. And speaking of the meal, all of the food was absolutely incredible (our guests were very impressed with it too)! Moreover, the service was nothing short of fantastic and Clare/the staff made such an impression on us as well as our families - we really felt their warmth and care and the energy that was put into making this event memorable for us. Moreover, Clare was super responsive, helpful, and accommodating throughout the process of planning/executing. We are so, so grateful for this experience with Runa and look forward to visiting again soon!
Lauren B — Google review
A lovely find. My friend wanted to check this place out and it did not disappoint. We found the staff to be delightful, kind and very helpful. The cocktails were quite unique and delicious! It was very difficult choosing and I’ll need to visit again to try others. I really liked the beets with seasoned almonds and blue cheese and the goat cheese salad, my second favorites were the rainbow trout and Provençal dumplings. The escargot was decent, but not a highlight. We sat on the patio and just couldn’t get over how cute and sweet this place is… a nice find for a tasty time.
Pam C — Google review
We had our micro wedding at Runa Bistro, and it was absolutely perfect. Clare and her team went above and beyond—everything from the service to the atmosphere to the incredible food. Our guests are still raving about it. Can’t recommend Runa enough for a special event or a memorable meal!
Jules C — Google review
We just moved to NP & we were getting a bit disenchanted with our options for dining here. Runa is a stand out. Great atmosphere, food rocked, we especially liked the smoked salmon with this lemon confetti and the crepes. The owner is lovely and it was a great evening & well worth our $75.00 each.

Irish restaurant
Garvan's Gastropub is a relaxed restaurant and bar housed in an 18th-century building, offering a diverse menu of New American cuisine. Opened in 2016, this establishment has become a local favorite, situated on the historic Huguenot Street.
Garvan's Gastropub delivers a fine dining experience in a beautiful setting. We were seated in the dining room - the "new" addition, built in the 1800s. The room was charming, and full of character. Our server, Aiden, greeted us almost immediately. He's fantastic at his job - personable, attentive and efficient, all with warmth and ready with a laugh or smile. My SO started his meal with the spinach salad, and shared a few bites with me. It had a lovely balance of flavors, and it disappeared quickly. While waiting for our entrees, Aiden brought out a piece of Irish soda bread for each of us. While my entree came with the bread, SO's did not. Aiden claimed SO got a piece because it was our first time dining there, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it was because I told him it was SO's birthday. My entree was lamb stew, which was perfection. I've never had lamb so tender. SO enjoyed the shepherd's pie, which was by far the best I've ever tasted. Dessert was Guiness chocolate cake for me, and banofee pie for SO, delivered with a rousing chorus of happy birthday, sung by a few of the staff. Even their singing was wonderful! They all had great voices. Garvan's was a delightful experience, and well worth the hour and a half drive to get there.

What a beautiful, quiet and picturesque location. Was asked if we wanted to be seated by the bar, dining room or outside. If I knew that it was screened in, I would have most definitely sat outside. Either way, you can’t go wrong wherever you choose and/or are seated as the place is beyond charming. Was in a rush so just had the street corn carrots, Shepherds (has lamb in it) and Shepherdess (is vegetarian) pies and all three dishes were delicious. HOWEVER regardless of your taste buds and regardless of what you are in the mood for you HAVE to order their street corn carrots. O. M. G. PHENOMENAL. EXTREMELY pleasantly surprised. A MUST try. Staff is extremely welcoming.
Fatima S — Google review
The atmosphere is really quite wonderful. The service is on par. The food however did not live up to my expectations. I had scallops and by the time I returned home my stomach was blowing up. Something not right. This feels like more of a wedding venue than a restaurant service. Really beautiful grounds. But the meal. I think they could do better.
Michael P — Google review
So much to love about this place. The building itself is so charming! The first floor reflects the Hugenots, while the second floor is more colonial. There is a busy pub on the first floor, but I prefer sitting in one of the smaller, quieter rooms upstairs. The street corn carrots are without question the best carrots I have ever eaten. Honestly, I never knew carrots could taste so good. The leek and potato soup, scallops, and short ribs are also recommended. Service was excellent!
Steve M — Google review
We had three wonderful dinners and a dessert, and I got to try a superb Red Spot Irish whiskey. There were enough seafood and vegetarian dishes that we had no trouble satisfying three people with very different tastes. Our server Tara was excellent.
John S — Google review
Wonderful establishment with tasty food, unique atmosphere, and friendly staff (shoutout to Katrina!). We had the short ribs, scallops, and the street carrots - all done incredibly well. You can really feel the love in this place. I highly recommend.
Anthony P — Google review
The vibe is on point of what you would expect of a restaurant built in 1759. Quaint and cozy, super friendly and great comfort food. Service was impeccable…friendly, knowledgeable and sweet! One of our diners had a small issue with their food and it was taken care of quickly and way more than expected. The owner and staff are such an amazing and genuine group and treated us like family. Desserts are homemade and delicious! Great wine list too! Can’t wait to return!
Shari F — Google review
My family and I have been customers of Garvan's Gastro Pub for many years and are never disappointed. There are so many reasons to keep coming back. The staff is obviously treated well by the owners because they stick around for a long time and seem very happy. We are always treated like special customers...because everyone is treated like royalty. The food is top notch. My favorites are the Guiness stew, sea scallops, shepherds pie and the short rib. I recently had the Ruben sandwich at lunch and was floored at how delicious it was. It is not uncommon to hear local music and on Irish nights, the pub (raking room) is filled with laughter, music, stories and jokes. There is no place I have ever been in the US that makes me feel like I'm in Ireland more than Garvans. Keep up the stellar work. We absolutely love this place!!!

P&G’s is a historic landmark in New Paltz, New York, dating back to 1900. It's a family-owned restaurant housed in a historic dance hall and has been serving as a community meeting place for over a century. The menu features classic pub grub such as fresh fish, burgers, salads, and soups at reasonable prices. Despite its rustic atmosphere, the establishment offers great food and drinks.
P&G’s is a true New Paltz classic! The atmosphere is fun and welcoming, the staff are friendly, and the food always hits the spot. Big portions, great burgers, and tasty apps…perfect for grabbing a casual bite or hanging out with friends. Love the historic vibe and the lively energy here. Always a go-to when I’m in town!
Dana S — Google review
I visited P&G Restaurant during my stay in New Paltz based on a recommendation, and the food itself was quite good. My turkey Reuben with sweet potato fries (pictured!) was a definite hit. What dampened the experience, however, was the unexpected $2 upcharge for the sweet potato fries. Even if a side is included, customers should always be notified of additional costs for premium options. This lack of communication was disappointing. Service also started off on the wrong foot; we waited roughly seven minutes before our drink order was taken, and subsequent refills were slow. While the restaurant was clean, the initial slow service and the surprise charge impacted my overall rating. I do recommend, and yes I would give it another try if I was in the area again. 👍

P&G’s Restaurant is truly a gem! The staff here are incredibly friendly, welcoming, and always willing to go the extra mile to make sure you have a great dining experience. The food is absolutely delicious — every dish is full of flavor and cooked to perfection. I love that the menu has such a great variety, so there’s always something new to try whether you’re in the mood for comfort food, something light, or a hearty meal. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a cozy yet lively atmosphere that makes it perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. The restaurant is also very clean and well-kept, which adds to the overall experience. Portion sizes are generous, prices are fair, and the quality is consistently excellent. I highly recommend P&G’s to anyone looking for great food, attentive service, and a place where you always feel at home. Definitely one of the best spots in town!

It's the second time my family and I had dinner there and just as the first we loved it. Very lay back atmosphere, family oriented with a nice old school bar scene. Appetizer Platter, yummy wings and Jalipaño poppers are amazing. Enjoy your visit

Up in New Paltz again for my daughter's volleyball tournament. We always stop here for dinner when in the area. However. .it was a Friday night. It's a college town. They do Happy Hour. There was a live DJ playing oldies...and we loved it, but it was VERY LOUD!! Also...the food was not quite as good as usual...but still good. Hopefully next time we go, it will not be another Friday...
Elaine R — Google review
Had dinner tonight, absolutely fantastic. Service was awesome and the food, ridiculous. Everything was delicious. The French onion soup was the best I ever had. I had the chicken and shrimp pesto, very good. The only bad note was the yelling baby. We go out to unwind, relax, and have pleasant evening. I don't want to hear that. Sorry. Everything else was wonderful. We will definitely go back

Main Course Marketplace is a local caterer's casual counter-service cafe and takeaway spot that offers farm-to-table American cuisine. The eatery provides a variety of dishes at reasonable prices, including pulled pork sandwiches, dinner plate specials like salmon and pork loin, as well as delectable desserts such as hazel chocolate and coconut raspberry cheesecake. Customers can also enjoy French vanilla hot chocolates. In addition to its regular offerings, the establishment has provided to-go meals during Covid and even offered Thanksgiving dinner options.
Honestly, I really looooove places like this. It’s amazing. A little oasis of a culture outside of the city. I adore some custom made food and drinks. They have a huge choice of a things you can never try anywhere else. It’s a small town but such a good quality food and stuff they make. Recommend this place!

We were very impressed by the food. A slim menu with flavorful dishes. The meat was so tender with a good mash potatoes. The fried tofu was excellent as well with a solid mac & cheese that served as a good complement.
Sergio C — Google review
Main Course is amazing! They have a wide variety of delicious dishes from salads to sandwiches to soups. I personally love their build your own salad option, where they do not cheat on portion sizes. They also have great desserts, my personal favorites being the peanut butter cookie and berry crumble. The one downside is that the staff can be a bit rude, but overall I love this place! I definitely recommend.
Ana — Google review
After walking at the West Trapps Trailhead we went to the Main Course for a late lunch. When you walk in there is a counter with two order pads. One for salads and one for sandwiches. You check off what you want and hand it in at a counter. We shared the Lentil Veggie Burger and the Chopped Salad. With the Chopped Salad you pick what you want on it from a long list of ingredients and the dressing you desire. I like that you fill out your order and you bus your own table. This should help keep prices down and let the workers deal with the food and not things customers can do. I hope to get back soon and try something different. I’m sure everything would be as delicious as what we ate.
Bill — Google review
High-quality takeout with a great dining area as well. Service is quick and friendly. The paninis are delicious as are the salads. Can't go wrong
Stan K — Google review
We have loved The Main Course for years. It is our go to place when we are in the area. Many times we will go multiple times in one week. We noticed a year ago a change. Prior to that every meal was. excuse the hyperbole. exquisite - and medium priced! The menu was interesting and inventive. Every dish was a pleasure and flavorful. Salads and soups were delightful with the combination of ingredients and tastes. It had been consistently good with an inventive interesting menu and very fresh ingredients until recently. The offerings are still good, and by far the best in the New Paltz area, but not as wonderful as before. We had heard that there was a change in ownership or chef. They seem to be working on it. The last two times we ate there in July the meals were a little more special and quite good. We were happy to see that. The food is still good, but the quality of the ingredients and flavor and the overall menu are lower. At the same It continues to be our favorite. We have a lot of appreciation and respect for the team. We see how everyone who works there works hard and caters to our requests. We wish them luck in getting back to what we have loved.
Gus G — Google review
Wonderful atmosphere for lunch and so many choices of food and drink to take with you! Try the quiche!
DeAnn B — Google review
I went to this place earlier today, I got apple carrot juice and the kids mac and cheese (I am not a child, just dietary restrictions). The mac and cheese was dry. It tasted/the texture of it felt like it was made a few days ago and it had been sitting and the noodles dried up, the sauce (well what was leftover) tasted okay/good just the noodles were very dry. The juice was really good I enjoyed that, I just got the apple carrot beet juice without the beets. The atmosphere was nice, it's kinda like Panera where you bring your dishes to your table and then also clean up after yourself.

Bacchus Restaurant, Brewery & Billiards is a lively establishment in New Paltz, named after the Greek god of wine and pleasure. Some friends and I made a trip from Brooklyn out to New Paltz with the plan of hopping around to different breweries and bars, but after finding this place and being served by Lydia who was an absolute sweetheart, we didn’t even make it to a second spot! the vibes were immaculate, the service was amazing, and the food was stellar!! As a fellow bartender, Lydia went above and beyond and made us feel like we were home with friends. We ate, drank, and played games for hours and had the BEST time! We already want to make a trip back! Huge thanks to Lydia and whoever made my gorgeous smash burger 🫶🏻 Cheers!

I don’t normally leave reviews as I just like to enjoy my food and move on (I know, crazy right? Everyone’s a food blogger nowadays) BUT!!!!! The equilibrium tie dye science ipa was perfect and complimented the wings and burger that I had. For the wings I am a garlic parm guy until the day I die and I can say these are some of the best garlic parm wings I’ve had yet and that’s saying a lot. FLAVOR from the bone to the outside exterior, very rare imo to have so much flavor packed into these little guys. The smash burger was perfection. Well balanced from top to bottom and assembled perfectly. Flavor throughout and texture as a well. Again, 7/10 places just miss the ball and leave you disappointed. Caesar salad was also excellent. Texture, and favor and well mixed. KISS is an acronym for a reason and many places miss it every time. This place does not. They keep it simple and they nailed each item. Go here. Order: Smash burger Garlic parm fries Cesar salad IPA Besides the great food the staff is great and if I am in the area again this will be my only go to spot! Well done chef!

Bacchus Restaurant, Brewery & Billiards in New Paltz, NY, is a sanctuary of flavors, a haven of hospitality, and a temple of delight. As I stepped across its threshold, I was enveloped in a warm, golden light, like a traveler arriving at a fireside on a winter's night. The food, a symphony of savory splendors, danced on my palate, each bite a masterful harmony of flavors and textures. But it was not just the cuisine that left me enchanted – it was the tender touch of hospitality, the gentle warmth of the staff, that made my visit truly unforgettable. And then, there was Grace, our lovely server, a sprite of sweetness and light, who tended to our every need with the gentle care of a summer breeze. Her smile, a radiant beacon, illuminated our table, making even the most mundane moments seem like a revelatory experience. In Bacchus, I found a haven, a place where the cares of the world were washed away by the rich aromas of roasting meats and the soft click of billiard balls. It is a place to savor, to linger, and to bask in the warmth of good food, good drink, and exceptional service. If you seek a culinary adventure, seek out Bacchus, and pray that Grace is your server – you will be blessed.

I came here for the first time the other day (Saturday afternoon) after going to a nearby public family event. I was in a group of 5 (one being a minor), and they seated us immediately, although this place definitely wasn't empty. We all enjoyed ourselves. The food was great, the drink menu offered a large variety, the atmosphere was beautiful and the staff was super helpful and friendly. I wasn't very impressed by their cocktail menu, but they made up for it in the other variety of drinks they offer. They also have a bunch of pool tables to play on!

Limited food options but "unlimited" beverages list. New York Stake was listed in the menu but was unavailable. Fish and chips tested OK. The service was nice.

Big menu and great prices! The beer selection was incredible. The sign out front said 400 beers to choose from and I believe it. I don't know if I have ever seen such a good selection of beers. The atmosphere is so cool. It is classy, but fun. Old fashioned, but trendy. Dark, but comfortable and positive. We had a lovely meal on the second floor. It was quiet and even romantic.

The choices are unique compared to other restaurants. The food was very tasty. I had the black bean burger which was excellent. It had a little too much sauce but the sauce was so good. My wife had the jambalaya which was tasty but the chicken was a little tough. Overall we had a great experience and this was our second time here. The service was very friendly. They lowered the air conditioning when we requested and were very polite and helpful.

Ate here 2/13. Service our server was great. Atmosphere is pretty chill. Food was good and had a nice flavour. I got a side salad, alligator bites, and a cup of gumbo Portions are decent. The only reason for the point deduction is some of the prices are a bit much (the one that stood out the most was $11 for mac and cheese (?!) And I think the brownie dessert is $15) Misc: they need to update their menu on their website because some of the prices are shown do not match the menu you are given. Esp important if you budget your money Misc#2: Forgot to take a picture before removing all the sliced carrots to the side. Everything is mixed in (I forgot to tell them no carrots so that's my fault)

A solid 4 out of 5, with more hits than misses. + We called ahead, said we were 15 minutes away, and were promptly seated with a choice of indoor or out. It was a beautiful Memorial Day Monday, so we opted for outside. - We waited a little longer than necessary for our waitperson to come to our table. She apologized in that she hadn't seen us get seated. + Waitperson was helpful, friendly, and even fun, too. Great service after a slow start. + The okra bites appetizer was plentiful, perfectly seasoned, and the dipping sauce wonderful. +/- The crab cake sandwich was good, but not great. The burger was the same. It was a good meal, but fell a little short of 'wow, we've got to come back here again soon.' + The key lime pie was tasty, especially the crust. All in all, a solid 4 out of 5. The waitstaff made the experience great.

We stopped in The Parish for lunch. My husband had the jambalaya with shrimp, I had the Mac and cheese with crawfish. I liked his better. The shrimp had a smokey taste. Mine was just okay. The service was very good and the atmosphere was very homey. I would go back again.

What a lovely place. Excellent drinks as you’d expect from a Nola inspired place. Gater tots were super crunchy and flavorful but definitely over salted. I absolutely loved the blackened catfish but the jambalaya was just ok. Fast attentive service, cute vibe and good prices.

Demure. My gf and I enjoyed our time at this place. The food we ordered was ok though (burger and chicken sándwich).

Had the best dessert I think I’ve had to date. The strawberry shortcake was so good I accidentally ate it all before I got to take a picture. The alligator bites were also bussin. Cajun seasoning hit the spot and the lemon was a great touch. Had a really good experience here

Cajun food in New Paltz NY? I was skeptical, but what we had was terrific! That night the only exception was the jambalaya which seemed overcooked and dry. But everything else was great, the five of us had a wide variety of appetizers and entrees. Too full for dessert. Next time! Easy parking, inside and outside deck seating options.

Lola's Cafe is a casual dining spot that offers a variety of creative sandwiches, salads, burgers, and bowls for both dine-in and takeout. The menu features an array of options including southwest bowls, vegan chili, paninis, sandwiches, wraps, and salads. A must-try is the Brussels sprouts salad with grilled chicken or the turkey and brie panini on whole grain ciabatta. Additionally, they are known for their delicious milkshake specials and beer selection.
I enjoyed it here! The food is GREAT— and my favorite in town. I would most definitely drive to eat here… thankfully, I am local/driving distance as of right now. Feedback would be more so for the staff. When spending time with family, it’s unsettling when someone hovers back and forth checking your table (when it’s not a service-based restaurant)— it’s an order to go or sit down. Also, first impression is everything and a welcoming presence would be great too especially with the quality of food that is served here— it *would be* one of my top restaurants (hands down)— if the culture and energy was more welcoming. Yet, culture/service is everything. Either way, it is a must try, y’all! Enjoy :) and blessings to you. (PS— of course I’ll be back because we all have our days and it was my first time here) Updating as of April 8th, 2025: Second time around and my review still stands the same. Great food and room for improvement on the culture and energy.

I love Lola’s, and come here at least once a week. I usually order the burger special, as it is inventive and delicious The servers are very friendly and my food always arrives promptly. And half the year I enjoy sitting out on the deck and people watch!

I got the Baja chicken wrap with peanut noodles. The wrap was fresh and flavorful, the food came out within less than two minutes of placing my order. The atmosphere in here is amazing and the employees are lovely. We will be coming back! (The chicken fritters are SO GOOD)

Have met a friend here a couple of times for lunch. Tends to be really busy. There is outdoor seating on a patio with both tables and high top seating at a counter. Inside is conventional tables. Ordering and paying is done at the front counter, and if you give them your table number they will bring your food to you. Inside can get REALLY loud and difficult to have a conversation. We both had the black bean burger which was GREAT. Very substantial burger, and garnished with all kinds of stuff....pickle, greens, tomato I think.....great lunch. You have a choice of sides, and the peanut noodles are HIGHLY recommended. Thick udon noodles with a great peanut sauce, not heavily soy sauce laden like Chinese restaurants. They sell hand made shakes, some of the specialty shakes are $14. Regular ones are $7. They have bottled Harney and Sons iced tea. Local and the best. Try the peach.

Great little spot in New Paltz! Took my wife and daughter here for lunch. We all really liked what we got. The service was fine but I knocked it down a star for asking for tips up front and not after the meal is done. If you're in New Paltz you should definitely go there and have yourself a quality meal. Sidenote, I loved the playlist while we sat outside on a beautiful day.

The berry salad was amaaazing. Globs of goat cheese, lots of fresh berries, great vinaigrette, and perfectly spiced and moist chicken. The kid's turkey sandwich was huge. The tex-mex burger was flavorful and fresh with generous toppings. The peanut noodle side was interesting. Would go back happily.

Pho restaurant
Pho Tibet is a cozy restaurant located in the former space of Cafeteria, known as the living room of New Paltz. The restaurant offers a homey atmosphere with ample natural light, making it an ideal spot for lunch, dinner, or sharing family-style bites. Visitors recommend trying the chicken sandwich and pho after a long bike ride. The menu features options like lemongrass grilled chicken noodles and shrimp spring rolls, along with Vietnamese ice coffee.
With the chilly weather outside, we crave comforting 'warm food,' and this restaurant has just what we need. Dishes Tried: - Beef Pho: Dive into this hearty bowl of goodness! The tender beef slices swim in an aromatic broth that dances with flavor, perfectly paired with velvety noodles. Every slurp is a comforting embrace! - Grilled Lemongrass Chicken: Prepare your taste buds for a treat! This chicken is marinated to perfection in fragrant lemongrass seasoning and grilled to achieve that irresistible smoky char. It's both delicious and utterly satisfying! - Pork Chop Pho: Get ready for a unique culinary experience! Succulent slices of pork chop add an exciting twist to the classic pho, beautifully complementing the savory broth and noodles in a harmony of flavors. Our server was very friendly and gave us very good service. Our food was delicious and was out very quickly. I ordered the pork chop pho and my mother got the chicken salad. The broth for the pho was very rich and flavorful. The atmosphere and decor and very pleasant and the layout was very comfortable. Definitely recommend and will be heading back next time I’m in the area.

The restaurant is spacious and the staff are super friendly. It’s definitely a must-visit for anyone looking for a delicious and memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be back and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s in the area!

We shared the Pork Chop Bahn Mi and the Pho Tibet Salad (braised short rib), both were excellent. Absolutely loved the salad--the short rib was tender and flavorful while the greens were fresh and crunchy with slivers of papaya that stole the show! The Bahn Mi will become part of our regular rotation--perfectly seared chop with a bright, crisp pickled veg mix. The lychee tea was refreshing with a light floral flavor. Lovely staff, great food in generous portions. Highly recommend.

The salad was unwashed and not fresh! The brisket pho tasted great, but we were disgusted with the salad and lost our appetite. Really doesn’t give you much faith in the food safety or standard here.

We ordered pho, vegetable spring rolls and beef momo for lunch. The beef momo and spring rolls was very good but the pho was meh, the soup wasn’t very flavorful. P.s. be aware that momo takes 15 - 20 mins to cook so u will have to wait a little bit for that order.

The Lemon Squeeze in New Paltz, New York is a charming French(ish) bistro with influences from Asian, North African, and Basque cuisine. Housed in a delightful 19th-century building that was once the Village Tea Room, this restaurant offers an amazing atmosphere with beautiful decor and a wonderful menu. The friendly staff and excellent service make for an enjoyable dining experience. Guests can enjoy cocktails while waiting for their table and are notified via text when it's ready.
My first time here. Service was excellent even though they were extremely busy. I had the Brussels for an app and the burger for dinner. The Brussels although delicious were a bit mushy, they weren't as crispy as I would have liked but had a nice flavor. The burger was cooked perfectly and was delicious. The fries were perfect too served with aioli and ketchup. They mentioned that a menu change may be coming soon, but I posted the current one as of last week.

I had a burger and the Que lo Que cocktail and it was great. Piano player started at 8pm and was good. Friendly and helpful employees
James T — Google review
I don’t know where to start when explaining to a reader, how amazing this restaurant is in New Paltz, New York. If you have to wait a few minutes for a table and if their bar happens to be full, take a walk down Main Street in New Paltz and have a cocktail somewhere while you wait. It’s totally worth it. They will text you when your tables ready and allow you time to return. The staff is so friendly and fun. The atmosphere is amazing. The decor is beautiful and the menu is wonderful. We were able to listen to two different piano players, with completely different styles, who were both amazing and entertaining their playlists pleasantly surprised us, and ranged from classical to the Beatles to rock ‘n’ roll to Radiohead. We had such an amazing time at a fun dinner with friends. We didn’t plan on eating as late as we did but we’re glad we didn’t change our plans. We were there from 8 PM to 10 PM and we usually don’t stay out that late but the whole experience of the restaurant got us so wrapped up in the fun of it all that we didn’t mind one bit. The cocktail selection was incredible. Every drink anyone got at the table was delicious. The food was absolutely amazing. There was no dish, including the specials that we wouldn’t have again some of our favorites were the delicious selection of four types of oysters as well as the fried oysters, which were some of the best we’ve ever had. Their lobster mac & cheese is some of the best we’ve ever had as well. The beat Stack salad is a dish I’ll be dreaming about forever or at least until I go back and then I’ll probably dream about it again. Lol. This was truly a unique dish that I hope stays on their menu forever. The combination of beets, thinly sliced cheese, and nutty arugula was just divine. The desserts were all absolutely out of this world something as simple as affogato was dreamy but the donut bread pudding was a table favorite hands down. Will be dreaming about that too. All in all it was just an awesome dinner and we couldn’t believe how wonderful we felt when we left. We were all so happy so far but not overstuffed, and all talking about how quickly we want to return. If you’re reading this review, skip all your other options in that area. The Lemon Squeeze is your choice. It’s awesome!
Jacci N — Google review
We called to make a reservation for Friday night and were told they don’t take reservations. We arrived at 6 ish and had zero problems getting a table for two. Our server was great and the space is nice. The oysters were great. We ended up getting burgers to see how the food is before ordering the more expensive menu items on a future visit. I definitely appreciated that, after so many places recently have served us super well done pieces of charcoal, they really did cook the burgers as we had asked, medium and medium-rare. The bacon and cheese on the burger was great but the patty itself didn’t have a lot of flavor- just some salt and pepper would have brought it a long way. The fries were disappointing, pretty flavorless and soggy. The piano music was honestly a little overbearing in a relatively small space.
Samuel L — Google review
Soooo good! Fried pickles were amazing! The Squeeze burger was perfect and so was our service from Christian. We will be back!
Leah B — Google review
Cool piano bar with a vibe that is more Manhattan than New Paltz, which is appreciated. Brings a nice option to town. Our party enjoyed the food, for the most part, and the atmosphere 100%. The highlights were the live music, design, and patio.

First time here, we just stopped in for a quick bite in the daytime to check it out. Might come back to this trendy new place for a drink but not for food. The lobster bisque and lobster mac & cheese were OK with a fairly generous amounts of lobster in them although for my taste, the bisque was too thin and the mac & cheese too salty. The Caesar salad was a joke. There seems to be a parking challenge with the neighboring establishments but I do not have clarity on that. Overall impression: trendy, nice ambience, over priced, don’t go for food.

Schatzi's Pub and Bier Garden in New Paltz is a delightful fusion of German charm and local flavor, making it a must-visit for foodies and beer enthusiasts alike. This inviting venue boasts an impressive selection of both classic German brews and popular craft beers from the U.S., including notable names like Sloop, Grimm, and the Alchemist. To enhance your experience, don’t miss out on their soft pretzel served with a delectable beer cheese dipping sauce.
This place is off the hook. Service, food, and drinks all 5 star. New addition to the wine list is amazing!! I have been here at least 500 times and every time I come I find one more thing that I love about the place. Just go there. That is all. They have an amazing patio perfect for those that want to dine alfresco. Covid update this place is so clean, the whole staff makes you feel safe and comfortable. Def worth going to even in this new world we live in. Again just left this place and it just keeps getting better every time I go there.

This is an interesting and warm looking place, and features some German style food as well as other favourites like bang bang shrimp, meatball parmesan, fish tacos, and other favorites such as wings and Ruben sandwich. They also have a selection of various wurst offerings. Our server was a little confused about which German beers they have, how many tacos come with a serving (hint: 2 not three) Overall it was a very pleasant experience. The service staff was prompt and very pleasant. I just wish they were a little more knowledgeable because the menu has a lot of options in it for various tastes.

It was just a quick stop for a drink. Unique atmosphere and friendly staff. Will definitely come back to try their food. Visit #2 I love the menu here… so many things I want to try. We got The German (a bratwurst sandwich on a pretzel bun with pierogi layered in-awesome) and the schnitzel. Overall, the food is really good. The only thing stopping me from giving this five stars is just how salty everything is. It was also odd that the menu when accessed through the QR code at the table showed prices up to $3 less than the prices listed on the paper menu. The bill reflected the higher price point. Visit #3 The food was less salty and price was matched this time even though I didn’t have the paper menu.
Samuel L — Google review
Would give 3 1/2 stars. By accident passed by this German restaurant. Schnitzel was very good. Sausage was good, felt like homemade but the taste wasn't authentic. If you have never taste the real German sausage, then these are good. Beer was great.

When you go to New Paltz, you can expect local eateries to have varied menus, deep beer lists, and quirky offerings. Schatzi's exemplifies all three. There is something for everyone on the menu and while I only ordered one meal I'm quite certain it represents a commitment to a tasty flavorful menu. I had the veggie Reuben. There's no way in hell I could have expected slow cooked beets to taste so absolutely incredibly delicious. The french fries were French fries. What will stand out as well is the great service. I asked for a grilled chicken cutlet for my dog Clara. They took the time to grill it from scratch to avoid any seasonings for my dog... I personally didn't even think to ask. I had a double dry to drink and it did not disappoint. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area

Great food. Amazing atmosphere. Indoor or outdoor dinning in the heart of Newpaltz. Wait staff is super friendly and attentive. I had the Bier Cheese Soup as an appetizer. Super cheesy. You know its absolutely delicious when you put the spoon down to drink right from the bowl. For my main, I had the cheddar bratwurst double with German potato salad. Absolutely amazing, the bacon crumbles and beer cheese was absolutely delicious slathered over the cheddar brat and then to have it atop a pretzel bun really brought it to the next level. Like a classy German hotdog. Great selection of beer too. There's alot more on the menu than German food too! So definitly check out Schatzi's for some great food, and solid vibes.

Italian restaurant
A Tavola Trattoria is an upscale Italian restaurant in New Paltz, NY, offering regional Italian cuisine made with fresh local ingredients. The stylishly rustic setting provides a charming atmosphere where modern meets rustic. The knowledgeable servers are known for guiding guests through the menu and providing excellent wine recommendations. With 10 years of experience, this restaurant has mastered the art of Italian cuisine and is renowned for serving the best pasta in town.
We have been dining with this restaurant for years and continue to be inspired by the menu, the ambiance, and the owners and staff. The staples of their menu remain and the rotation of fresh, farm-to-table dishes keep us coming back for more. Our latest treat was to be seated at a table with a secret drawer filled with love letters from past diners. Some of our most go-to dishes include: Pappardelle Bolognese and Salted Caramel Gelato We’ll be back again soon! ❤️

For the most part, this was a very nice Italian spot. I loved the space and the the bolognese which they braise for seven hours was out of this world. Appetizers were hot and miss though - I didn’t really care for their burrata, which lacked the creamy interior I usually so love about it. I’d give them another try though, if only to try some of their other pastas.

What a wonderful meal! Right on the main drag in downtown New Paltz. Set in a gorgeous old rustic building, A Tavola would be right at home in Manhattan. The service was impeccable and the food divine. I started with a peach cocktail as I perused the menu. Warm fresh baked bread arrived at my table in the meantime. I chose the beet salad to start (delicious!) and the pumpkin gnocchi (pillowy soft!) as my entree. For dessert I was torn between the chocolate cranberry tart and the pumpkin cheesecake. I finally went with the pumpkin option. It was like layers of pumpkin gingerbread and cheesecake with a bruleed top and caramel sauce on the side. Absolutely delicious. I would definitely go back.

The service was great and the food was delicious. Don't recommend bringing kids (big or little) as the food is very fancy italian not your basic spaghetti and such. That being said for adults it is wonderful. I had the Conchiglie Con Granchio for dinner (half serving was perfect portion). I had the Affogato for dessert. Very small dish but delicious nonetheless. Prices were average. Took pics of dessert, but didn't think to do so until they were almost gone. The first being the Italian Apple Tart, next is the chocolate olive oil cake and last is my Affogato.

First time here, Rose, the owner, and Cody, at the bar, were so friendly and welcoming to us. We sat at the bar and had an absolutely delicious meal. Lamb chops and Spring pea ravioli, grilled octopus with chick peas and roasted red peppers, homemade lemon ricotta mousse cake and coconut rum gelato. Their very talented chef came out to say hello to us. I just kept wishing it was a Saturday evening instead of Sunday so we could have stayed longer. Cannot wait to visit these lovely people again and enjoy their delicious food !

Rustic! Lovely ambiance, great service. Perfect for a romantic date night. Highly recommended by all the online guides. Steak tartare was very delicious! Must try! Well seasoned and pairs so well with the crutons. Truffle mac and cheese is another must! Very comforting. Gooey and crunchy at the same time. Yums! The only slight let down was the ragu. Homemade pasta was al dente but too little sauce. It felt like eating plain boiled pasta. It could be because we ordered the small portion. Oh yes, there’s 2 size option for all entrees. Small and big which is a bonus. It is a bit more on a pricier spectrum compared to neighboring restaurants

Dog in bar. Never got my drink. Given nuts in granola after asking and being told that it did not have nuts. Not really clean. There is short class that that food handlers can take. I believe it is $10. You can get a food service card . It teaches about safe food handling. When I got the check in that sticky black folding thing it had milk on the back of it and almost stuck to the table.

Our favorite coffee shop for more than a decade! We have been enjoying breakfast or coffee here for years and it would always be our first stop when driving up from NYC. As New Paltz residents, we love coming back here and starting our weekends right. Great coffee, matcha drinks and sandwiches. Amazing service! Could say a lot about their many hot sauces which are also available to be purchased to-go. We highly recommend this small, family owned place. ❤️

I mean, this is the PUDDLE!! The most iconic coffee shop in New Paltz for over 20 years! Completely family owned and operated for the entire time. All beans are roasted fresh in house multiple times a week. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff, and owners! Drinks (especially the cappuccino) are incredible and have that signature "Puddle" aftertaste. It also gets you REALLY energized!! Thursday to Monday, you're able to get breakfast there until 1 p.m., the food is REALLY good, especially with a cappuccino. I would HIGHLY recommend the "James Sandwich"! Atmosphere is chill, with great music always playing. There's a huge outdoor area, as well as indoor bench seating overlooking the Walkill river and mt. Mohawk. Totally worth the trip!!

Mudd Puddle is a cute little cafe to go to if you need a get away with someone to have a good convo. They have seating inside, but have a bunch of chairs outside too for comfy spaces out seating. The pricing isn’t too bad, a chai latte is about $4, and the pastries are around the same price. The customer service wasn’t great, we didn’t get welcomed in (and there were no other guests), but that’s the only reason it’s not 5-star. Worth a visit :)

A great bartender you say? Well... Find out what days Kelly is there and make it your day too. Friendly to us strangers and tight with her regulars. We will be back.

Snugs is the place to go. When the people who work at the other places in town get off work, Snugs is where they go. The community there is strong as hell. It's New Paltz's own "Cheers" bar. Friendliest people you'll ever meet.

I really enjoyed the bartender. She was down to earth and so friendly. Keep her!! She's awesome. Friendly people. We went on 7/2/24 and it was open mic night. Very fun!

A cool eclectic place to hang out and meet a variety of individuals! Beer is reasonably-priced and people are awesome! Had a fun time chatting with people out on the back deck about life! It might be considered a "dive" but those places can yield some of the best nights ever!

The divest of the dive bars and it's awesome. Super nice bartenders! Came to see the band The Hillside Fusion play. Great night.

Burger Box, a recent addition to the New Paltz food scene, has quickly gained popularity since its opening in 2021. Founded by sisters Stephanie and Tiffany Verney, this burger joint aims to put a unique spin on traditional burgers and fries. The menu features options such as 100-percent grass-fed beef from Kilcoyne Farms, Impossible burgers, chipotle black bean burgers, and chicken sandwiches.
This place makes cool and creative burgers! They are on the pricey side but you get what you pay for.. a huge burger w/ two patties! The fries are just as delicious..(the hot/honey sage ones are so good!) The service can be hit and miss..our first waitress was friendly! But we just received small glasses for water and she never filled us up again. Our second waitress, gave us almost a liter jar to pour our own water (didn’t fill it back up when we finished it) but this was the thumbs down for her- when we asked her to split our bill two ways she stated: if she wasn’t busy by having more tables she can split our bill.. that made no sense...never heard such nonsense. But the food is a slam dunk! Service..well..not so sure sometimes. Cute place with games also!

Nice restaurant! Further up on Main Street, away from the shopping area and other restaurants. Not too busy on an early Sunday afternoon. Got to pick where we wanted to sit. Not too busy large of a restaurant. There is table seating and booths. Like the black paint on the booths and walls. The food is SO GOOD!!! Lots of specialty hamburger choices. Fries not included. A large size could feed three people, at least. There is a bottled soda, not popular brand, offered. There are board games to play. Food served quickly. Would definitely return and recommend!

When I say the best burger I’ve ever had and I’m a burger girl, it was truly phenomenal. The Garlic wings- WOW! Then topped off with crème brûlée mini cheese cake. I just want to grab a pillow and blanket and take a nap. Service was impeccable as well.

Incredible burgers and apps at this unique burger restaurant! We ordered cauliflower sliders (great value and taste with 3 mini burgers that were well worth it), a black bean burger in the jalapeño popper burger and the onion rosemary jam garden burger with hot honey fries. The meal was phenomenal, and the service was awesome. Wait time was about 40 min even though they weren’t busy (only 1 table there when we arrived) however, was worth the wait

AMAZING BURGUERS! one of the best ones i have tasted in the states, really wonderful flavors, if you come by near is a must go! Great staff and fries are absolutely incredible!

I can’t say enough positive things about Burger Box. We arrived at the perfect time, 1 group of people were on their way out the door and a second was just ending their meal. So us and another couple had the whole place to ourselves. We were welcomed in by a very young woman. She told us about all of the menu and gave us as much time we needed to make a decision. It was hard because everything sounded so good. I say I have a bottomless tummy but Burger Box proved me wrong. I only ate 1/2 of my Spicy BBQ burger, a handful of fries and the delicious garlic knot pretzel bites with their homemade marinara. We also had the lavender lemonade, with the perfect hint of lavender. We had more than enough fries for the both of us and had to take food home with us. Not that I’m complaining. I wish I ordered more. What we ordered The Horseradish The Spicy BBQ Parm & Herb fries Garlic Knot Pretzel bites Lavender Lemonade We were very happy with the amount of food received for the price. We were also very pleased the quality of the food, the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. What I wish we ordered The Whole Menu

Burgers were extremely fresh and juicy. We were honesty shocked at how good they were and if I praise them more I worry this review would seem fake, but they really were that great. We also got some truffle parm fries and have never had fries this fresh and delicious. You can tell the fries were straight from the fryer and made with high quality ingredients. We drove from NYC and just went into the first restaurant we saw but I’m so glad we found this place.

Nestled in the Water Street Market, Jar'd Wine Pub is a charming and intimate wine bar that offers a unique experience. Despite its small size, it exudes coziness and warmth, with a back porch providing additional seating overlooking the rail trail. The friendly staff and inviting ambiance make it an ideal spot for socializing. In addition to an impressive selection of wines, they also serve cocktails, beer, and light fare.
Such an amazing little place. The drinks were delicious, and the snacks just hit the spot. I would definitely recommend this stop 🛑

An absolutely adorable spot for a drink. I tried the blackberry pop and it was delicious.would definitely go back to try some of their other fun cocktails.

Every cocktail is delicious but the Magic Garden is a must-try if you enjoy spice. Good music, great service. Beautiful locale!

Cute place...loud but we could have a conversation. everyone seemed to know each other and the bartender was great...Russell has a tipsy snowman and it had to be pointed out to him that his mug was a naked lady torso (marry a nerd 🤓🥰). He said it was quite tasty ... Too sweet for me. I had the fall fashioned and bees knees both of which I liked a lot...I preferred the bees knees between the two...it got better as I drank it. One disappointment is the pics on Google show some dessert items but they don't serve desserts ... Just small plates. Pee or pass; No bathroom but there is a bathroom in water street market I have used before. So pee. Follow me for places I've been and places I've gone. 🤭

Great Everything! Owner Theresa Fall (T-Fall) was hospitable and accomodating as we filmed our tv show there before our filming and hike up Mt. Mohonk. Homemade seltzer and IPA beer were refreshing as were several local wines.

Schatzi's Pub and Bier Garden is a cozy pub with a spacious outdoor beer garden, offering an array of craft beers and a menu featuring updated bar food alongside traditional German dishes like bratwurst and schnitzel. Located in New Paltz, NY, this spot is known for its welcoming atmosphere and modern twist on classic German flavors.
The food was great, ordered the pork schnitzel, DU CLAW- Unicorn Stout, decent price for the food and drink. It is about $10 for the Stout and $14 for the winter special drink. The staff were so friendly. Definitely will try something else next time.

Wife got the chicken sandwich and it was dry, like chewing leather. My sausage was good. Service was also really bad, granted we were a party of 10, wrong and mixed orders. It also took forever to order. We also got a visit from the local raccoon, kinda cool but prob not safe. One positive, they had Vermont beers on draft.
Christopher L — Google review
Schatzi’s offers a nice draft list of some good beer, good sized portions, and friendly staff. We got seats at the bar and had good service the entire time. We were given the wrong specials menu which was disappointing because one of the specials sounded perfect for me but I got the Schatzi’s burger instead and it was a bit dry. Slightly overdone and not enough of their sauce, I think the potato pancake on top absorbs it and left the rest of the burger dry. Great sized meal though. My wife got the fried chicken sandwich and it was pretty good. We would stop again and see what’s new next time we are in Poughkeepsie.

At schatzi’s it was a pleasure to be treated with a smile. We sat in the bar seats are quite comfortable. The atmosphere was clean and welcoming. Food came at a timing manner and drinks were just right.

We ended up having our welcome event for our wedding weekend at this location since our numbers did not quite work out with Zeus's brewery. And I think that was the best unexpected turn of events! The back patio is beautiful and spacious. The food here is mostly apps and perfect for finger food. The drinks were fun, including many local beers, as well as cocktails and wine. The staff was very friendly. They made our welcome event before our big day very special as well! Jeremy went above and beyond to help us out!
Ana V — Google review
Sat outside in August on the patio, ordered the Hudson Valley salad — rating it the best salad I’ve ever had — however I am from Florida and not exposed to a mix of tastes like this. Really great service from Lindsey. Husband got the schnitzel and he said it as delicious. BTW this place looks like a bar from the street but there are tables and chairs. We are the oldest people here but we are coming back again.
K.Griffin W — Google review
Very friendly service. It has some authentic German dishes and some American ones as well.
Shantanu P — Google review
TL;DR: Good food fast. Craft beers. Good service. Seasonal outdoor seating. My companions and I had just walked the local trail between the two bridges and were looking for a place with bar foods and a decent drink selection. This place is easy to miss, as it’s in the middle of a row of small businesses. The storefront is dark and at first glance I though they were closed. Upon entering there’s the standard bar area and behind that there’s a surprising amount of seating. There’s a single restroom, so if it’s game day and you’ve got a tiny bladder, good luck to you. I ordered the sweet chili chicken wings which came with celery, carrots, and ranch sauce. My companions ordered sandwiches, both of which received positive reviews. The one downside was the cheese curds. They were bland and could’ve used a saltier, richer flavor. The curds became inedible once they reached room temperature. Hopefully a few minutes in the home air fryer will resurrect them. Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. Prices were reasonable.
