Frankly, it was overpriced with poor staff. I had a tea, and they forgot the milk. I also had a bagel with avocado. That's not an abbreviation; it was literally just a bagel with avocado. No butter. no pepper. Not even salt. And it cost over £4. Partner had a bacon bagel at it was dripping grease. Never again. Edit response to owner: a sarcastic response is exactly what I'd expect having visited your cafe.

First time to this Symposium, ordered pancakes, latte and cappuccino. Can't fault there hot drinks 10/10 the pancakes 6/10 The music was to loud couldn't go there for a coffee and chat and some songs that come on was being turn up, Would return for the hot drinks but only to take out

Very disappointing. Came to try the pancakes based on the reviews, no pancakes. Had a bagel with cream cheese instead, wasn't cooked through properly, sent it back and the next was the same, as for the cream cheese on top, well there wasn't much of it. Tea and coffee were nice. Disappointed.

Before we arrived I specifically called to see if they were dog friendly. Was told no and we could sit at an outside table. On arrival at 3.15 as soon as we walked in the waitress straightaway looked at her watch. Well that made us feel very welcome! We ordered broccoli and Stilton soup which was lovely and scampi and chips, also very nice and milk shakes - lovely. When I phoned I also asked what time they stopped serving but was told no time just come along. We ordered food at 3.20pm. Three more folk arrived at 3.40 with a dog. They were not turned away but a waitress came and asked if we had any objection to a dog coming in. Of course I did, my objection was that we were specifically told no dogs inside. I was not happy about this because I don’t like leaving my dog in the campervan especially when it’s muggy. Another moan is “why can’t staff smile at you when serving you” apparently it takes less muscles to smile than to frown! I also didn’t like the fact that the guy (wearing a grey BOSS outfit) went through the cafe to go outside to smoke and then went back into the kitchen. If you’re going to smoke go out where you can’t be seen. I don’t think I will return.

Popped in for a cup of coffee, lovely wee place. Was meaning to post a picture of my scone, but it was eaten before I remembered. Really tasty, very relaxed, lovely waitress.

I ordered the ham and cheese toastie with lentil soup, the toastie was amazing and the lentil soup was the best i’ve had from any other places !! my boyfriend got the chicken fillets and says they are better than zanres, both had a lovely meal!

My husband had a coffee and a Maltese tray bake. I had a hot chocolate and a lovely apple n cinnamon scone, my sister also had a hot chocolate and a coconut tray bake. We all really enjoyed our cakes and the staff are really welcoming and very helpful. It a lovely café and we will definitely be back the next time we come to Peterhead.

Simpsons Tea Room is everything you want in a cosy cafe, delicious home cooked food, the warmest, friendliest service and a lovely, welcoming atmosphere. The staff go above and beyond! A perfect little escape.

It was very busy, one had coffee & cake the other coffee & scone, the scone was heated but ended up too hard to eat.

Family run business that makes you feel special. The attention to detail, customer care, and food presentation are top-notch. Very good prices also. The cakes are also amazing, with plenty of gluten-free options. They also do takeaway for soups and coffee. Lovely little gem.

really nice place , very tasty food , great menu and huge selection of tray bakes & cakes! Very attentive to my almost 2 year old daughter too which automatically makes somewhere 10x better we were offered a high chair straight away and her kiddies lunch came out first including fruit and a yogurt on a plastic plate and plastic spoon which you don’t get in most places and I have to take my own which is such a faff, from a mums point of view this place is a must go to!! I will deffo be returning the man serving us was so lovely and welcoming , I will be telling all my friends and family to make the trip up for lunch.

The pear and almond (frangipane) tart was delightful. Had lentil and vegetable soup as well. Beautiful.

Canadian pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup, a great winter warmer, good tasty portion nicely presented and served by friendly staff. The coffee here is a nice roast and worth checking out, to be enjoyed with a view of the bay, usually something interesting going on whatever the time of year

Update: September 2021, I'm delighted to say that my dad has been back a couple o times lately and found the staff VERY welcoming and helpful. I'm therefore revising my rating and review with the understanding that my original review was on a bad day, or during a dip in service quality that has apparently been rectified :-) I look forward to getting back to verify for misell once travel allows it.

Absolute gem of a place. Bagels, pancakes, sandwiches and home bakes. Small menu but plenty choice and fresh Large windows offering a fantastic view of the harbour The staff are brilliant. So friendly and hard working.

Nice food, relaxed atmosphere, wonderful view across the harbour. Great for boat and ship watching.

In our week in the N.East this is the third Symposium we have been in and each one has been impressive. Once again very friendly staff who could tell us one had just opened in Glasgow so another one to visit nearer home. This one had interesting views across the harbour as well as a good choice of food. Just had a fruit scone today but it was light and very tasty with butter and jam included. At this rate, mite need to get a loyalty card.

Absolutely spoiled for choice here. Big portions. Food was really nice. Staff friendly. Place is always clean. And the views from here are excellent. It over looks the lido. Always something interesting going on. There is also a play park just down the hill to take the kids after lunch. Highly recommend this place :)

One of my favourite cafés, including all other Symposiums that I've visited. Have now used up 26 free coffee cards... I'd say I finally qualify as a "regular" customer. 😆 Always cheerful service, delicious food, and an unequaled view out over the sea. 👍🏻👍🏼

We had lunch of Halloumi Subs, with Salad and Coleslaw, which where fresh and tasty. The atmosphere and service was excellent, was seated promptly and order taken in a timely fashion. Only negative and reason for not giving a five star was we had 2 teas with Soya milk, unfortunately cheap milk and milk split. But if in the area highly recommend.

Been here several times as we really liked it here however last 2 times been disappointing & doubt we will return. Kids menu states fruit shoot for kids and Freddo but now it’s diluting juice and Aldi chocolate so if you are supplying your customers with cheaper goods then have it reflect on the price you charge your customers. You need to change menu also and state it’s not fruitshoot. Waited good while to pay. Girl standing there took a while to realise I was waiting to pay. Was asked if all was ok I said about the diluting juice and Aldi choc but she just looked vacant & charged full price anyway.

Such a gorgeous place! The staff were so kind, and the food was delicious! I had the butternut and potato soup, and you could taste how fresh and homemade it was. The bathrooms were lovely and clean, and the decor was simply gorgeous! Will definitely come back!

Very tasty food, busy but quick service, the girls behind the counter were great, friendly and efficient. Think of this as the local high quality subway with tasty extra's with a local slant. Well worth the price. Soup and sub for £5.20 a bargain!

Food is decent enough, for a cafe, but the service, well, not so great. The younger waitress just looked miserable. Wait times are ridiculous, only ordered 2 sandwiches, which took 30 minutes until finally served. Sat another 20 minutes until they finally took the empty plates and asked if we wanted something else. We did, we wanted scones, but despite asking about them before ordering our food, we were then told that they had just sold out of scones! Place was freezing. Such a shame, great potential, let down by staff.

Came here today with my friend and our kids at 2pm, got seated to a table by the staff that clearly were not enjoying working here. Nobody told us anything about the table being reserved. Food was served 2.20pm. In the middle of eating our food, we were told to hurry up and get ready to leave in 10mins because other people are waiting!?! We were literally kicked out at 2.45pm! My friend’s 3 year old did not manage to finish her food by that time so had to take it outside! I’ve never experienced such a horrible service before and will not be coming back here.👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 *****Edit***** No, you did not tell us that the table is already booked as we would not stay in that case! Yes, another table was offered to us, but only when we were already leaving. Did you really think we would want to stay after being told to leave in the middle of eating our food? Makes it even worse, that you cannot admit your fault and lie about what actually happened. I don’t usually write bad reviews, but you definitely deserve one👎🏼

This place is an oasis after returning from Slains Castle. Helpful and friendly service and most importantly very tasty food. There's something for everyone. Plus the view of Cruden Bay beach is spectacular.

What a great lunch! The Cullen Skink was exceptional – truly the best I've ever had. The Cajun chicken toastie was also delicious, and I enjoyed the side salad with its lovely mustard dressing. I had an amazing view across the bay from the outdoor seating. Just a quick update to say that although the food is excellent unfortunately the cakes and tray bakes are a big disappointment. New York style cookie is too large and soft which makes it seem stale. The Mars Bar Crispie it covered in thick cheap chocolate and has no taste. Ill be back for the soup and Toasties but I'd definitely avoid the cakes and biscuits.

Good food and good value. The staff were very friendly. It was nice that we could take our dog in with us as it was a cooler day. The views are amazing. Will definitely come back.

A dream came true Have you ever wished you find a cafe in an Idillic location looking out over a beach in the Autumn sunshine with great coffee and great food. I often travel all around the country and struggle to find a cafe that ticks all the boxes. Yesterday 21st September my dream came true I found a cafe that met all my wishes. The staff were great the coffee’s amazing and the Food was spot on with a view to die for. Although it’s 700 miles from home Inhope to go back

A bit disappointed, ordered soup and toast, soup was served barley warm, and toast was completely forgotten, Main course also was near enough cold and felt preheated, although service was good, but for this kind of portion and quality of food think prices r a bit steep.

Good value for money

Probably the best breakfast around. Kind of between Scottish and Irish taste of breakfast and that's a bonus to me. Can't wait for the opportunity to check the rest of their menu.

Delicious home cooked food, good portions. Great service. Good prices. I had Russian meatballs (pork I think) which were really good. Coffee really good too. Recommended.

Lovely little cafe for Breakfast. Visited here twice while in Aberdeenshire and had a great Scottish breakfast both times. Good prices, good service and the food was great too. Recommend if in Peterhead

Staff was so nice and friendly,ordered the soup with toast,soup was cold and sweetcorn poured in the soup from cans,came with out toast,second was mashed potatoes with Hawaiian chicken,mashed potatoes made with dry powder,food was really cold,so disappointed:(

Went in before 7pm for a coffee & cake as had 2hrs to fill in while waiting on my daughter. place looked closed as chairs up on tables like at the end of the night. door said 9pm close & noticed 2 customers in the corner so went in. cakes were getting boxed away so no opportunities to buy something nice to eat with my coffee & the girl who served wasn’t offering as didn’t look impressed that there was a customer in. Asked closing time incase it had changed & no it was still 9pm. Took my coffee take away option but you weren’t made to feel welcome to sit so left & went elsewhere

Staff are always really friendly and chatty. Service can be a little slow through the drive thru but it's no big deal as I am happy to wait for their amazing dragonfruit refresha. 🤤

When joined the drive in queue could hear in front that they couldn't take card payment in the drive through, reversed and went inside. Ordered 2 drinks and all I can say is the staff were miserable, no hint of a smile and really felt they didn't want to be there. Drinks that were Ordered were OK, not often I go here but def won't be back in a hurry.

✅A nice and light shop. Good coffee and tea with things to go with it. Clean toilets. Super friendly and hard working staff!! Also drive thru. ❌Need a car to get there. Busy drive thru and there is not enough staff. The girls who work there are running around all day to get work done as fast as they can

This one Barista called Martina (I think as I couldn’t tell by the name tag) was very rude and ruined the whole atmosphere, telling employees off Infront of customers and very clearly made so customers can see and rolling her eyes when I ordered something, overall very poor customer service from her and felt really uncomfortable and unwelcome by the actions she was showing, definitely won’t be coming back as this service was appalling…..!!!!

Not very homely but good coffee. Sadly struggled to eat my bacon and maple syrup pancake as it was flooded in a pool of maple syrup and far too sweet. Ruined my brunch.😵 Food should be checked before offering it to customers if new staff on?

Went on dog walk and stopped by with them. Allowed to take dogs in, they got a doggiechino between them, my daughter and i had a hot chocolate. Its nice to have somewhere that allows dogs. There is also a water bowl for the pups (but was not any in it the day i was there).

What an absolute rip-off. £11.50 for a coffee and a small sandwich with a bit of lettuce and some coleslaw. Twice while I was waiting, the staff had to go into the adjoining Asda to buy ingredients for my order. After seeing this, I went into the Asda to check if that's where the chicken for my sandwich came from. In the Asda there was cheap yellow packets of chicken and It looked very similar and was cut at the exact same uniform thickness as the chicken in my sandwich. You'd think if you're paying £7.50 for a small sandwich, it would at least contain quality ingredients. First & last visit.

Service was quite unfriendly. Tables were disgustingly dirty, considering it was empty and staff were sat down it wasn't expected.

Ordered our usual breakfast for work via the app. Iced coffees were awful! Didn’t taste anything like they should, we phoned to ask if they’d maybe changed the ingredients. The person who took the call was rude and not helpful at all, basically “I made them right” extremely saddened by this! Symposiums service is definitely not as it once was, hello Starbucks!

Went there today and had a Latte with a Canadian slice! they Were both very good.

Love symposium coffee. The customer service is brilliant with the staff always serving with a smile. During the current lockdown we’ve used the delivery service and the click and collect and have found both brilliant with all social distancing rules being observed. We’ve also ordered the ground coffee from the website and again found this easy to use and great value for money. Can’t wait to be able to sit and enjoy a latte in one of their coffee houses.

A nice place to chill with a coffee and a nice bite to eat , I had the meat feast on a bloomer and a double shot flat white , only issue would be the delay before the food arrived.

Was a last minute decision to stop for a coffee. We were able to take our pup in with us which was such a blessing otherwise we would likely have just brought drinks to go. We both ended up with plates in the end. Canadian pancakes and a toasted hunter’s chicken sandwich, tea and coffee. The girls working were really friendly and polite. The service was quick and the food excellent. Would definitely make it a point to stop in when we are this way again. Thank you so much for such a pleasant experience.

Nice little spot for a coffee if you're driving through Longside, or just if you're a local, as it's basically the only place for a coffee, so you're not spoilt for choice. Got a very generous-sized medium latte. Nice enough place for a sit for a while. Could do with a better selection of pastries I thought.

After trying 4 other cafes in area which were closed thank you symposium at Longside for being open. It was 3.30 and my friend and I had coffee and pancakes from the lovely Emily. Very very nice. We will be back

Latte coffee was Luke warm and looked like coffee you'd make at home- no frothy milk on top- disappointing. Had one last week and was good but today was a small and not a regular!
