Piazza dei Signori is the heart of Treviso, a charming city square with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. The square is adorned with elegant arcades and surrounded by delightful restaurants, bars, boutiques, and a church. It has been a cultural and social center since Roman times and continues to be a vibrant hub today.
Beutiful small student city in Region Veneto near to Venice. Full with history and litle deathals in every street that you go thru. 😉😉😉😘

Piazza dei Signori in Treviso is an absolute gem! Right in the heart of the city, it's surrounded by stunning historic buildings like the Palazzo dei Trecento and the Torre Civica . The square buzzes with life, filled with cozy cafés and charming shops under elegant porticos. It's the perfect spot to soak up local vibes, enjoy a spritz, and watch the world go by. A must-visit when exploring Treviso!

We love the charming city of Treviso. It has cobblestone streets, narrow sidewalks and adorable cafe's. We had the best gelloto. You can get lost in the many little streets within the walls of the fortress. Many streets line the canals were you with see ducks a swans. Rent a bike or take a stroll around the fort.

Fountain
Sights & Landmarks
Fontana Delle Tette is a famous stone fountain featuring water spouting from a statue of a bare female torso. Originally dating back to 1559, the fountain was known for pouring white wine from one breast and red wine from the other during the Venetian rule, allowing citizens to drink free of charge for three days on the occasion of each new Podesta designation. Today, a reconstruction can be found in a hidden courtyard inside Palazzo Zignoli.
The Fontana delle Tette, located in Treviso, is an ancient sculpted fountain that has a curious history. During the domination of the Republic of Venice, this fountain poured white and red wine on the occasion of particular celebrations. Its name, translated into English, means “The Fountain of Tits”. The fountain was built in 1559 on the orders of Alvise Da Ponte, mayor of Treviso, following a severe drought that hit the city and the surrounding countryside. In honor of each new Podestà ( a chief magistrate of a medieval Italian town) the fountain gushed red wine from one breast and white wine from the other. All citizens could drink for free for three days during these celebrations. The original fountain was located inside the Palazzo Pretorio, in via Calmaggiore. Today, a copy of the original sculpture is placed in the courtyard of Palazzo Zignoli, while the original is preserved under the portico of Palazzo dei Trecento. The Fountain of Tits represents a curious and fascinating piece of history, testimony to past times and unique traditions. 🍷🍇 Visited February 2024

A quiet, warm feeling spread through my chest when I looked at her, but it was almost instantly followed by a subtle prickle of shame that made me look away. The warmth was pleasant, a soft pull, but the shame was a fleeting, bitter taste, a silent reprimand for having the feeling at all. It was a brief and private tug-of-war, hidden beneath a calm exterior.

Great place to visit. You can calm down here and cool.off from the City. The water that comes from the Woman s breasts ist also drinkable.

It is located in a pretty nice location. We passed it twice while searching because it is surrounded by buildings that seemed illogical, but when we turned in the right corner we saw this kind of funny statue.

Archaeological museum
The Civic Museum of Santa Caterina, located in a former monastery, offers a rich display of frescoes and excavated artifacts dating from the 14th to the 18th centuries. The museum is divided into four sections: Archeology showcasing Roman age artifacts, Pinacoteca featuring works by renowned artists like Tiziano and Tiepolo, rooms for contemporary art exhibitions, and the great hall of the Church displaying the famous Stories of S.
Very nice museum, I went there at about 12:00 and was almost alone and I enjoyed it very much! This museum had English translations and it was nice because I could read about the exhibits. The building is spectacular with the inner garden space and the old church. I also liked the fact that some rooms had a sensor that opened the lights when you walked in the room, so you’re saving energy and is a nice touch seeing the exhibits light up gradually. The stuff was very friendly!
Efi L — Google review
Signage does not correspond to the artefacts everytime so it needs to be updated. However, I am not giving my 1 star just for that but it's because I had a rather shocking experience. I bought five postcards and three of them were priced at 1.50€ on the signage. The price for the others wasn't even showing. I was charged 10€ for the postcards. The lady at the counter took an eternity to give me the bill as she looked up the postcards individually on the system. When I pointed out the price issue she made a phone call, again taking more of my time. Although the lady at the counter apologised, I cannot understand how there is such a lack of updating the prices in a museum shop which is so small, maybe having around 100 items on sale.
Anne G — Google review
Very interesting and beautiful museum. The building is beautiful as well and the exhibition is greatly curated. You can buy one ticket for 10 euros and visit this one and museum Bailo.

Great museum presenting mostly artists and art from Treviso through the ages. It’s not very big so it’s a great choice if you have free hour or two

Beautiful museum which provides a wealth of information about Treviso and art. It is well adjusted for the foreign visitors, by which I mean that the labels in English are of good quality. Quite the unforgettable experience, especially the medieval frescoes which impressed me with their colours and minute execution. This museum is on pair with those in Venice in terms of professionalism and quality of display. I loved every second of my visit!

The Walls of Treviso, originally constructed for defense, now offer a picturesque 5-kilometer walk around the historic center. The medieval walls were dotted with eleven gates, while the 16th-century ones include Porta San Tommaso, Porta Santi Quaranta, and Porta Altinia. These walls provide a stunning tree-lined promenade offering privileged views of Treviso and serving as a venue for summer social events.
Beautiful place for a walk , if your lucky you'll see ducks swans rabbits herons etc. Bistro on the wall is excellent for a drink and foccacia

Lovely, enjoyed a little hike along the walls of treviso. Ancient, well built and beautiful just like Italia 🇮🇹 The walls go round the town and you can walk so far. There are lots of river, canal paths below and we spotted the biggest rat the world has ever seen! 🐀

Nice place for a walk. You can meet quite a few people exercising (walking or running) there, as well as families going for a nice walk by the river (or canals), on a Sunday afternoon. There are stairs every block or so, so you don't need to worry about going up at one point and going down at another. I didn't see stairs to the outer side of the city, though.

Historical defensive city walls. You can have a walk and relax in a peaceful place with amazing views.
Alex D — Google review
This place is beautiful, full of life and very well kept. Treviso is a walled city and a big part of the north wall (the high inner part, over the actual wall) has been turned into a linear park, the outside has a river and a really nice place called "Penisola del Paradiso", a little island full of bunnies, chickens, roosters, ducks and swans, you can't access but you can see them from different angles. You can go for a run, use your bike to go around the almost 7 km or just a nice walk.

The Museo Diocesano d'Arte Sacra is a museum of religious art housed in the former cathedral of Siena. The collection spans from the late antiquity period to the renaissance, and includes works by masters such as Michelangelo, Donatello, and Fra Angelico. (Translated by Google) I'd like to point out that this small and little-known museum is a gem, starting with the building itself, a perfect example of a medieval house with many stairs and half-floors. Inside, we find everything the Curia of Treviso has collected over time, from fabulous textiles, Middle Eastern metalwork, a silver statue of Saint Liberalis, illuminated books, and remarkable paintings. The museum is also connected to the cathedral crypt, another small treasure and one of the oldest parts of Treviso (which is also accessible from the cathedral, but during Mass, access is only possible from the museum). Despite this, due to its management, it has significant limitations. The building itself, due to its ancient structure, does not allow access for the disabled or those with difficulty with stairs, and there are no restrooms. The entrance is managed by volunteers, which means there is no specific opening hours. Access is by "voluntary contribution," which, however, requires payment to enter, and is paid in cash. This small museum is immaculately maintained: no audio guides, no explanations, and sometimes even the labels are missing (during the Jubilee year, many of the finest works, on loan to other Treviso museums, were even missing; their locations were simply empty, and no labels indicated which other museum in the city they had been lent to, even though some were just a few meters away, in the baptistery). In short, come if you're a true art enthusiast or just curious about medieval architecture.

(Translated by Google) I was particularly interested in the visit to observe up close some ecclesiastical objects used by or once belonging to Blessed Bishop Andrea Giacinto Longhin, such as the 15th-century silver crosier and the three pectoral crosses. Also noteworthy are the bronze statue of the patron saint Liberalis, the chapel, and the Cathedral crypt. For a tourist, I think the museum seems a bit modest, with only a few works on display, some on loan, and not very large. Tickets are €5.

Canale dei Buranelli is a picturesque canal located in the historic center of Treviso, Italy. The area features red-brick Renaissance palaces, shady arcades, and wrought-iron bridges that create a charming and tranquil atmosphere. This branch of the river Botteniga offers a scenic view with houses extending over the water, reminiscent of Venice but without the crowds. Visitors can stroll along the canal to discover various signs providing insights into its history while enjoying seating areas and observing ducks.
Definitely the highlight of the city, the canal runs right through the historical part. The city is designed around the canal. Very similar to Venice, but without the crowds. So if you like Venice, I'd highly recommend visiting Treviso. There are various signs along the canal with interesting information about the history of its purpose. Nice seating areas along the way too. Very beautiful and lots of ducks.

To be honest, I was expecting a lot more - like a walking trail with views of the river. In actuality, it’s just an open field with one small dock out over the river. I guess if you’re close, it’s worthwhile to stop by, but definitely not worth the time to get there. There’s nothing to do and the mosquitos are horrendous.

I love this river. It's awesome alongsides are green and peaceful. It's the best way to walk and stay healthy while you are admiring the environment. I could talk about it infinitely but you can have a look at the fotos to get an idea of what you will going to visit. The river goes around gorgeous cities and amazing landscapes. Churches & Cathedrals
The Church of Saint Nicolò is an impressive Catholic church with a rich history dating back to the 13th century. It features a blend of architectural styles including Romanesque, Gothic, and Renaissance influences. The church is located in the historic center of Treviso and holds significant artistic and historical treasures such as frescoes, wooden ceilings, and stone columns. The adjacent convent was built to accommodate Dominican friars who contributed to the educational legacy of the site.
This beautiful monumental church is located in the south-western part of the historic center, on the left bank of the Sile, in an area mostly recently built as it was severely damaged by the bombings of 1944. Attached to the building is the former Dominican convent, today episcopal seminary. The Church of San Nicolò was built in the early 1300s by the Dominicans also thanks to the substantial bequests of the friar Niccolò Boccalino, better known as Pope Benedict XI. With its simple shapes, but elongated upwards, with the massive perimeter walls just broken by thin slits from which a light enters tempered by the ancient windows, the Church of San Nicolò marks a moment of transition between the robust Romanesque style and the elegant Gothic of transalpine origin. The interior of S. Nicolò has a large space, where you can breathe a pleasant atmosphere of brightness that is reflected in the warm and golden tones of the brick. The Latin cross of the building is divided into three naves cut by a transept on which five parallel apse chapels open. The columns, which support the simple carined wooden ceiling, show frescoes by Tommaso da Modena, present in the second column on the left, depicting San Girolamo, Santa Agnese and San Romualdo. Other frescoes in the church are attributed to his school, although not directly to the teacher. There are 12 columns such as the number of the Apostles, among which the first 2 are in stone. In the presbytery, there is the funeral monument of Agostino Onigo (15th century), a valuable sculptural work by Giovanni Buora and Pietro, Antonio and Tullio Lombardo. Wonderful paintings belong to Lorenzo Lotto, Giovanni Buonconsiglio and Girolamo Pennacchi with the collaboration of Giovanni Matteo da Treviso. The important people of Treviso in the Cappella Onigo were painted by Lorenzo Lotto in the 16th century. The patrons of the time wanted the masters to build the temple with a precise arrangement of windows, medallions and frescoes. Thus the church was built at an angle of 91 degrees and 4 minutes with respect to the line of the sun, and on the day of the winter solstice, around noon, the rays hit perfectly the six medallions arranged on the north side of the church.

There is a toilet by the cafe which is always a bonus and the staff in the cafe are beyond beautiful in their energy and persona. There are many more activities and sorts organised, arranged or available here - these I know little about but go investigate for yourself. Meanwhile, Museo Luigi Bailo is a modern art museum that boasts an extensive assortment of nineteenth- and twentieth-century Italian art. The museum underwent restoration in 2015 and is home to the largest collection of sculptor Arturo Martini's work worldwide.
Great museum. I can only recommend. Not only the exhibition but also the museum itself is very beautiful. You can see great art from the region.

Well restored museum from an ancient monastery. Permanent exhibition of local artists, especially the sculptor, local glory, Martini, combined with temporary exhibitions. Currently, April 2025, the exhibition of the Japanese artist Hokusai occurs. Famous for the images of Mount Fuji seen from various points of view, the famous wave and the Manga notebooks. All very beautiful and well described, alas, in the only domestic language, Italian. A serious flaw is the lack of signage in other languages. Evidently an exhibition dedicated exclusively to the local population.

Very nice museum it had a very interesting exhibition I was looking forward to see but unfortunately they didn’t have English translation at the specific exhibition which was disappointing as I wanted to read about the exhibits and everything was in Italian. The exhibition catalog was also only in Italian as every other book related to this exhibition. The museum is very nice though and the stuff is friendly and polite. If only they had English translation it would make the experience better!

Antonio Canova at the Bailo museum in Treviso. A fantastic exhibition that tells the story of Canova, his way of describing the ancient and the romantic. Born in Possagno in the second half of the 18th century and lived for most of his life in Rome he is one of the greatest Italian sculptors of the 18th century. An exhibition to be savored in silence, observing the curves of the artworks, the flexibility of the bodies. A leap into the static world described by Canova, but full of life in our eyes.

We visited concert of the MozART group. The concert was scheduled for 20.30, but there was some presentation about special needs children in Italian for 45 minutes, so until around 21:15, which would be understandable - okay to make some promotion about charity events etc. But after the concert, the presentation about this charity continued for another 45 minutes. People started to leave, the artists seemed disturbed, it was disrespectful to them and the audience....

Beautiful venue, great facilities, very clean and well kept. Saw an Incognito performance... We went here and one of the staff was very rude. There was a local giving us attitude for not immediately closing the door upon entry, then the staff and the local were talking in Italian while looking at us as I was trying to close the door. I can tell they were talking about us as we were the only other people there and they were openly staring at us while talking about us. In addition the museum is very small for 8 euros per person and everything is in Italian. I will not recommend it partly because of that and more importantly some staff is not welcoming at all. If you want people to visit, especially tourist, then it’ll be helpful if you are at least being respectful to tourist. We paid our entrance fees to visit and we don’t deserve these kind of rude behaviors.

This is a lovely exhibition of posters. However it costs 8 euros per person if you are over 25 years old which is quite expensive as it only took us under 5 mins to see everything. Everything is in Italian, with no other translations. I'm sorry to give a low rating. The staff were absolutely lovely.

The wealth of details exposed meant that we also understood the intentions of the artists who designed the multicolored posters. For me they were conceived as "works of art", from that period which encompasses the current of futurism in Italy. Beautiful exposure, excellent lighting! The tower was built in 1218 during the municipal age with the complex of the Palazzo dei Trecento. Between 1265 and 1268 the tower was incorporated into the westward expansion of the Palazzo del Podestà. In the following centuries it was embellished and ennobled by a clock with a large dial facing the square and covered by a lantern. the physiognomy: the top lantern - covered by a leaden dome - already in a state of ruin, was demolished with a large part of the belfry. It was rebuilt by raising it a few meters and finishing it with neo-Romanesque Ghibelline battlements. The ancient clock was replaced by a more advanced mechanism, equipped with two hands. The dial was also changed, with a smaller stone one. The bell cell houses the civic bell with a swing - cast by De Poli from Vittorio Veneto - weighing around 2700 kilograms and today hammered every hour. The civic bell is third in size in the Veneto after the Campana Granda of Padua and the Rengo of Verona. During the Second World War, at the top of the tower, an anti-aircraft siren was placed on an iron pole which at 12.30 on 7 April 1944 gave, together with others (of which it is not known where they were positioned), the signal of the tragic aerial bombing by the Americans. The municipality of Treviso plans to make the monument accessible to visitors.

Chiesa di Santo Stefano, situated near Piazza della Vittoria in Treviso's historic center, has a rich history dating back to the Lombard era. Originally a chapel dedicated to the patron saint, it underwent reconstruction in the mid-18th century under Count Ottavio Scotti's project. The church also boasts three altars attributed to him. Despite being remodeled several times over the years, its central body was reconstructed in the 1700s.

In the early 1500s, an earthquake caused the church's bell tower to collapse, and it was rebuilt only two hundred years later. The central body of the Church of Santo Stefano was rebuilt in the mid-1700s, designed by Count Ottavio Scotti, to whom the three altars are also attributed: the two minor ones in Neoclassical style and the main one. The rectangular church preserves an altarpiece by Domenico Maggiotto depicting Saint Christopher flanked by two apostles, and a painting by Jacopo Guarana, located on the high altar, depicting the martyrdom of Saint Stephen. (Translated by Google) The church of Santo Stefano is a Catholic place of worship in the center of Treviso, located near Piazza della Vittoria and home to the rectory of the same name dependent on the Church of San Nicolò. It appears to be among the oldest churches in the city, having been mentioned since the Lombard age as a place of worship dedicated to the Protomartyr, whose oldest written testimonies appear around the year 1000. The bell tower was rebuilt together with the current church, but it collapsed in the 16th century due to an earthquake. The current design of the building dates back to the eighteenth century and was built based on a design by Ottavio Scotti from Treviso, who also designed the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Ceneda. In the first half of the 19th century the church was enriched with side naves, while the decorations of the internal walls date back to the last century. The church was completely restored between 2011 and 2012. The façade in marmorino, sober and elegant, is of the Corinthian order, divided into three parts by four pilasters on a high pedestal and crowned by the pediment. The two lateral wings, dating back to the 19th century, have semi-gables. Above the main entrance, a niche houses the statue of Jesus the Redeemer, added in the early 20th century. The interior has a rectangular plan with a protruding presbytery. The nave has side chapels, added and connected to form two small naves. The rich decoration dates back to the last century, while the neoclassical high altar was built based on a design by Scotti himself. Various oil altarpieces worthy of admiration, all dating back to the 18th century. Among all, the Martyrdom of Saint Stephen by Jacopo Guarana stands out, the altarpiece of the main altar. In a side altar a beautiful Saint Christopher with two apostles by Domenico Maggiotto. There is also a beautiful wooden crucifix attributable to Francesco Terilli (Feltre 1550-Venice 1630). On the choir loft on the counter-façade, enclosed within an elegant case with friezes and neoclassical paintings, there is the pipe organ by Beniamino Zanin, built between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The instrument has mechanical transmission, with a single 58-note keyboard. The pedalboard has been removed, and the entire instrument lies in a state of abandonment.

If you're exploring Treviso, make sure to visit the Museo nazionale Collezione Salce, a treasure trove for fans of vintage advertising. This museum boasts Italy's largest collection of iconic Italian posters, showcasing designs from 1844 to 1962 that feature renowned brands like Ferrari and Vespa. The collection was lovingly assembled by Ferdinando Salce, who dedicated his life to preserving these pieces of visual history.
It is a relatively small museum, but worth the visit. Especially If you love advertising, mixed with a bit of history. It is free on the1st Sunday of every month.

A must do, in Treviso. A collection of ads, billboards and posters from different ages and different themes/topics. Every 5-6 months the exhibition changes with new examples of the magnificent art of graphics and advertising. In these spaces, a former church recently restored, there are also multimedia projections showing the amazing frescoes which decorated the interiors, now preserved in the civic museum of Treviso.

Much ado about nothing: about 60 posters with publicity to visit interesting places all over Italy from first half of the 20th century. Nice to see. The church itself has little or nothing of interesting, Fresco's removed, interior empty. All over the church there were projectors showing images on the (almost) bare walls, but I did not notice any relation with images on the posters on display. Disappointing. The ticket is valid too to vosit San Gaetano's church. Lots of baroque paintings there. Almost more interesting, I'd say, except that any information or descriptions are missing.

I was a little bit disappointed. Given that the museum houses 25000 posters, I was surprised that only around 30 were on display. (I have almost that many in my own collection!). Nestled in the heart of Treviso, the Church of Sant'Agostino is a stunning example of 18th-century architecture, designed by the talented Francesco Vecellio. This elegant church features a unique elliptical layout and was constructed on the site of an earlier rectangular structure. The rich history is reflected in its beautiful altarpiece by Ludovico Pozzoserrato, which honors San Aniano, the patron saint of shoemakers.
A beautiful elegant church with an interesting history. The Church of Sant’Agostino (Church of St. Augustine) is the unique example of sacred building in Treviso which has an elliptic plan. In the middle of the 18th century the edification of this church began and it ended in 1758 by the design of the friar Francesco Vecellio. The new church was built where once there was the first church, which had a rectangular plan. Today there are still some evidences of the old church, among these we may remember that of Nicolò Cima who described it as a building with three naves perhaps the statuette of St. Antonio (which it is possible to see on the façade today) belonged to this old Church. The Church of St. Augustine, as other churches in Treviso (for example the Chiesa di San Vito - Church of St. Vito, the Chiesa di Santa Lucia - Church of St. Lucy , and the Chiesa di Sant'Andrea - Church of St. Andrew), was the seat of a school: the School of Cobblers. Indoor the Church of St. Augustine there are a lot of admirable masterworks, when we go in from the main entrance we may see two frescoes representing, the ‘Flagellazione’ (scourging) and the „St. Sebastiano“, both frescoes are made in the 14th and 15th century. On the left in a little cavity we may be impressed by the „Madonna della cintura“ which, as statues of St. Augustine and his mother Monica, comes from the Church of St. Margherita. We may also see two anconas, the first made by Ludovico Pozzoserrato is located on the right altar, it represents St. Aniano, who is patron of Scuola dei ‘Calegheri’ (Cobblers ’School), the Saint is represented while he is repairing a shoe and St. Mark, St. Julian and the Madonna are looking at him.

Chiesa di San Vito is an ancient church with origins dating back to before the year 1000, associated with a shelter for travelers and the sick. It was once a religious seat for key schools in the city and is linked to the Church of Saint Lucia. The church features beautiful old frescoes and valuable ancient works, including fourteenth-century frescoes.
A hidden gem in the heart of Treviso. The church blends Romanesque, Gothic, and Baroque elements, with beautiful frescoes, a Gothic tabernacle, and an impressive ceiling painting. The connection to Santa Lucia chapel makes the visit even more special. Peaceful atmosphere and full of history, right off Piazza San Vito.

(Translated by Google) Seen on 29/12/2024 on a group trip, after having participated in the walk to Giavera del Montello. Interesting complex of religious architecture, because incorporated in the same building there is another place of worship, Santa Lucia, while in another church, Santa Maria delle Carceri constitutes the sacristy. One of the oldest places of worship in the city, its existence has been attested since since 981, when a document speaks of a hospital, a refuge for the sick, the poor, and pilgrims. Over the centuries it was the religious seat of some art schools. Only an apse remains of the original church, the one that connects it with the church of Santa Lucia. Completely restored, it was opened to the public in 2013. Externally it looks more like a palace than a church, in the lower part there is a portico with arches round arch, which support the windows that give light to the Monte di Pietà. Interior with three naves with vaulted ceiling. Presents the altarpiece of saints Cito, Modesto and Crescenzia by Marco Vecellio. Organ built in 1903. (Translated by Google) This is the classic village cinema, the kind where you feel a little nostalgic for when you were little, when there was no need to go to the big cities in those "cold" multiplexes. There are two rooms, where the most successful films of the period alternate. The rooms are large, well air conditioned and the seats are comfortable. The first-come, first-served rule applies. The screen is large, with a great sound system. The entry price is high (€10) but justified by the fact that they don't even have 1 second of advertising (I don't know if it was just a coincidence or it's always like this) or even an intermission break. If I had the choice, I would always prefer to pay a little more and not have the advertising. Promoted experience. Esperienza promossa.

The full price is 10 euros, a little expensive compared to a new multiplex but I appreciate the fact that in a small town like ours they hold on! (Translated by Google) Not a great choice if you want to spend time outdoors, as there's only a small children's pool and a hot tub. It's certainly clean and the staff are friendly, but I'd probably clearly state on the website that this is a pool that, having mostly two indoor pools, focuses (rightly) more on courses, summer camps for children, etc., because if someone unfamiliar with Natatorium Selvana, like me, shows up to spend a day at the outdoor pool, they're likely to be a bit disappointed. In any case, if someone is looking for tranquility, only wants to go to the pool to cool off, and is happy with an indoor pool, I highly recommend it. The prices are absolutely excellent. The pools aren't overflowing with chlorine, which is another plus! It's also a shame there's no snack bar.

The administration and the lifeguard reported that they must always keep an eye on us and if we go under the garlic for the cool we could do I don't know what.... despite the cameras being present. (Original) Piscine e spogliatoi puliti.
