Biltmore, an iconic French Renaissance château built by George W. Vanderbilt, boasts 250 rooms and lavish gardens that replicate a working French estate. The estate is a popular attraction, drawing in around 3.8 million visitors annually including well-known figures like Edith Wharton and several U.S. presidents.
I absolutely advise you to go see this stunning home and property! It is a visual wonderland! I loved everything about it! Take the tour....it's self guided and very well scripted. The architecture, the furniture, the fabrics, the tapestries, the fireplaces! All spectacular! They were setting up for Christmas while we were there so we got an idea how beautiful it will be for Christmas! It is alot of walking and alot of stairs though, so be prepared for that. Every employee we encountered was so nice and friendly. The Gardens were just so beautiful and well thought out! Stunning really. I can imagine that every season here must be so beautiful! It was the number one reason I wanted to come to Asheville and I am so pleased that we went! You will be too! Go see what the Guilded age was all about.

I am glad I visited as I’ve heard so much about it. Overall, I thought it was nice, but overpriced. There is a moment in the audio tour where the current head of the Biltmore foundation is quoted as saying the Biltmore is about preserving the past and definitely not about making money. I have my doubts. Tickets are pricey and so is everything else. It is very well kept, so I do think they are providing some value, but I doubt it’s a sacrifice. However, the grounds and gardens are lovely and seem to be free to enter and that is a public service, so maybe I’m wrong. It’s a lovely house and the audio tour is pretty good. They devoted a lot of time to the builders and staff. I do find that interesting but could have done with less. What were those Vanderbilts doing in there? I’d like to know. If I were in the area again I’d revisit the gardens, but probably wouldn’t take the house tour again anytime soon though I am glad I went once.

First time going to Biltmore. Wanted to go there for my birthday on November 15th. Had a great time. Me, my mom, sister, and niece all enjoyed the house and the tours. We're all first timers. Looking forward to visiting in other seasons. There wasn't really any waiting. Aside from the main gate where they scan your passes and whatnot. We only had to wait for king tut exhibition cuz we arrived a little early on November 16th. Would love to visit the real thing in Egypt someday. Good history to learn for those interested. Highly recommend visiting biltmore. The architecture and designing are wild.
Michael M — Google review
I recently visited the Biltmore Estate and was struck by the beauty of the property — the architecture, gardens, and mountain views are absolutely breathtaking. It’s easy to see why this place is called America’s largest home. However, the overall experience didn’t live up to the price tag. The King Tut exhibit was especially disappointing. Most of what’s displayed are replicas, not original artifacts — something not made clear until you’re already inside. For anyone genuinely interested in Egyptian history, you’re far better off visiting the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, which houses the real treasures of King Tut. As for staying overnight on the estate, I wouldn’t recommend it. Everything closes early, there’s very little to do in the evenings, and the restaurants are wildly overpriced for what they offer. The prices are luxury, but the feeling is commercial and subpar to what you’re paying for. It’s clear they’re capitalizing on the Biltmore name more than prioritizing guest experience. If you’re visiting, I’d highly recommend staying in downtown Asheville instead — there’s much more to do, great local restaurants, live music, and shops that stay open late. You’ll have a far richer experience for a fraction of the cost. The staff were friendly and the scenery is stunning, but overall, the visit felt like an expensive tourist trap rather than a true luxury experience. Visit once for the architecture and gardens — but stay elsewhere and manage your expectations.

Such an amazing self guided tour experience. Beautiful Estate and Grounds. *Bathrooms, café, gifts shops ( Toy, Confectionery, Christmas, General Gifts, etc, located outside of the Mansion. Such a neat experience seeing and hearing about the history of such a breathtaking place, craftsmanship and prestigious family. A must visit for all ages. Thank you Biltmore, for a wonderful visit.
Noni — Google review
I never get sick of visiting the Biltmore. It really is mind boggling to me the details and beauty of this mansion. The gardens are beautiful and I can understand why Mr. Vanderbilt wanted to build here. Breathtaking views. Second time here, we ended up doing the Kind Tut exhibit also. The conservatory is gorgeous, my favorite was the orchid room. Lots of information to take in, lots of walking. Shuttle drivers were very nice and funny. If you haven’t been it’s worth the $ in my opinion. You also realize very quickly why they need to charge what they do to get in. This is a masterpiece that you should go see if you are in the area!
Patricia K — Google review
As a photographer, The Biltmore is truly a dream location. Everywhere you turn, there’s another breathtaking backdrop — from the grand architecture to the immaculate gardens, mountain views, and timeless details that make every angle stunning. The light on the property is beautiful throughout the day, especially around the gardens and terrace areas, and the estate offers endless variety for portraits, weddings, and editorial-style sessions. What I love most is how the Biltmore blends historic elegance with natural beauty. Whether you're photographing in the conservatory, among the blooming pathways, or in front of the iconic house, every shot feels elevated and cinematic. It’s one of those places where inspiration happens instantly. For photographers looking for a truly unforgettable location, The Biltmore never disappoints.

The Biltmore Mansion is decorated for the holidays. It’s gorgeous! My husband and I did the self guided tour. We really enjoyed going through the rooms. The conservatory was also beautiful!

The North Carolina Arboretum is a public garden located in the Blue Ridge Mountains near the Western North Carolina town of Asheville. The arboretum contains more than 60 acres of carefully cultivated gardens, including one of the most extensive bonsai collections in the United States. The gardens also showcase a variety of flora, including one of the most extensive ericaceous (acid soil-loving) plant collections in the United States.
Beautiful place to stroll around nature! I love flowers and saw a lot of things blooming. The Bonsai trees were amazing, truly something to see. The cafe served up a nice BIG sandwich as well. We had a tour guide to take us around and she pointed out a lot of interesting things we may have missed if walking around alone. So thankful that North Carolina has such a beautiful place to show off!

This was the best part of our mini vacation. All employees are sweet and very nice. They truly appreciate our business and our visit. It truly shows. The gardens and views are also great. Recommend to all young, old and small. Lots of benches for resting if you need it.
Raiders G — Google review
My visit to the Arboretum was absolutely lovely! 🌻The stroll through the gorgeous gardens was so relaxing and refreshing. I love how they’ve managed to find the perfect balance between manicured and wild. There are plenty of spots to relax and well placed restrooms throughout the path. 🌳 To our surprise and delight my friends and I had a close encounter with a precious deer along one of the trails. 🥹Everyone should come and enjoy this little paradise. 🥰 I will definitely return!

If you love nature, Christmas lights, nice people, and plants, this is a must see!! If you are a solo traveler who loves to be outdoors but is concerned about lost or hurt on a trail, this is the best place ever! Well marked trails, emergency call boxes, beautiful gardens and bonsai, Christmas train display, lunch cafe, dulcimer music. educational placards on the trails…plenty of miles of trails with enough safety items that a solo traveler can comfortably enjoy the day and not worry about anything. As a solo traveler, I want to be hiking on the trails in the state parks but realize I could get injured and it would be awhile til I was found, this place had good trails and people and call boxes so I felt like I could hike all day there!! Can’t wait to go back!

A lovely park and public gardens! Definitely smaller than we expected but still enjoyable. All the water features were off for the season and a few of the outdoor interactive elements were broken which was disappointing. The signs around the park were very informative and interesting! Our favourite part was definitely the bonsai exhibit. So cool!

Came here in the evening for Winter Lights. There was a line of cars waiting up to an hour to turn into the arboretum for Winter Lights. Perhaps it was because it was opening night. It was a really fun atmosphere. The trolls were so charming. The lights were fantastic! Go into the Winter Lights gift shop to see the animatronic animals singing Christmas songs. Admission price is per carload. It’s a great deal if you have a big family, not so much for a couple. You can save $5 on admission if you are a member and get free parking. Parking is $20 for non-members. It was a fun experience!
Elizabeth D — Google review
We were anxious to visit and explore the extensive grounds of the North Carolina Arboretum on a slightly warm Fall day. We were lucky enough to catch the groundskeepers and staff in the midst of constructing the Winter Lights display for the upcoming holiday season. The Arboretum still unfortunately shows signs of extensive damage from Hurricane Helene (visit was October 2025), but the recovery efforts are clearly underway and appear to likely be finished within the next year. Despite the damage and closure of several areas of the acreage, there are still several miles of wonderfully pleasant hikes available to visitors, and the main buildings highlighting the central gardens and bonzai display remained undamaged. The Arboretum offers a beautiful respite to nature, and we look forward to our next visit.

Absolutely loved this place!!!! Visiting from Orlando and was submerged in gods beauty. The bonsai garden was unique and cool to catch. We fortunate enough to experience the gardens in the day and winter lights at night which are mesmerizing. Loved this place

Step back in time and immerse yourself in a nostalgic arcade experience at the Asheville Pinball Museum. This unique museum offers an all-you-can-play opportunity with over 75 pinball machines and classic video games, creating a throwback to the arcades of yesteryear. For a set admission fee, visitors can enjoy unlimited gaming on vintage machines, some of which are for display only due to their age.
This place was a blast from the past! Lots of well-maintained and very interesting pinball machines and retro arcades. Some of the oldest ones were display only, and I appreciated that many units had interesting facts about them displayed on themselves. It was like 10% museum, 90% playable, 100% fun. Bartender girl was really sweet hooking me up with a good site for pinball repair and marketplace, although it sounds like the pinball museum doesn't typically buy or sell things themselves. 10/10 will be going again.
D H — Google review
What an amazing and nostalgic experience. Walking into the Asheville Pinball Museum instantly took me back to my childhood — surrounded by classic games, flashing lights, and that joyful energy you only find in places filled with genuine fun. The staff was kind and welcoming, and everything was well maintained. You can feel the passion behind this place. Whether you’re a kid or just a kid at heart, it’s impossible not to smile here. A great stop for anyone visiting Asheville!
Diego S — Google review
This place is amazing, it brought back so many childhood memories, it was like a step back in time. So many pinball machines, and arcade games. The staff were friendly and helpful. There is also beer available to walk around with. For $17 you can play 90% of the pinball machines and arcade games. There is also a lot of nostalgic photos and other items around. All the pinball machines have the history of them on each one, and how many were made and what years, same with the arcade games. When I walked in I was greeted at the door, I walked over to the desk where you pay. The guy at the desk said you don't have to pay if your just walking around and checking things out, but you cant play the games. But for $17 it is well well worth it. The place sounded like an old arcade at an amusement park, the lights are flashing and you can hear the bumpers and metal pinballs and the ding ding ding of the bells of the machines. If you're in Asheville definitely make this a stop. allow for extra time, I'm glad I did, I thought I would only be here a ½ hr but ended up spending over 3 hours.
Bostonh2o — Google review
This is an absolutely incredible place for adults and children. The kids get to play as many games as they want from pinball games to Nintendo and old '80s original arcade games. Adults can flash back to their childhood and enjoy the games they grew up with. Some of pinball machines go way back. They have info on top of each pinball machine telling its history. The arcade games are straight out of the '80s and all of my favorites from my teen years.
Stephen — Google review
Pinball and space invader games were never my thing but now seeing this place is like stepping back in time and a great nostalgia boost. It’s free to walk around and look and about $17 for unlimited play. We’re visiting from England and even though I didn’t play, I enjoyed watching my husband be trans back to his teenage years as he played those buzzers and bells. A great couple of hours for anyone who craved a little bit of the pre 1990s.
Deb L — Google review
Even though I've been visiting Asheville for the past 13 years, this was my first time here. My partner is obsessed with pinball machines so we spent 3 hours here. Even though I'm not a pinball fanatic, the museum was cool. For ~$20 you get unlimited play time on the machines and the game consoles. There's 3 different rooms: one for pinball, one for games like pac man and dig dug, and then one with consoles like Nintendo. It's easy to split your time and visit all the different rooms. Even the bathrooms match the vibe of the museum. They have drinks you can order, but no food is allowed. I definitely would come here again.
Lina R — Google review
Very fun place to hang out or take a nostalgic trip via pinball and electronic video games. Very historic and eclectic collection of games. One set price for play all day, with come and go capabilities. Great stop on a rainy day and the place can get pretty busy. A fun time for families, couples or anyone who just wants to have some fun. Great location near downtown, shops and restaurants. Helpful staff.
C L — Google review
This place is AWESOME!! The museum is an actual arcade where you can play vintage pinball machines all day long. The history of each machine is listed on top of each game. I was never really into pinball but I played for 2 hours straight and had a blast! Great for all ages. Everyone that worked there was very friendly.

The Southern Highland Craft Guild, Folk Art Center is a must-visit destination for those interested in traditional and modern Southern Appalachian crafts. Located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, it serves as part museum, organizational headquarters, and living art workshop. Visitors can explore museum-style exhibitions showcasing various artworks and crafted items while also enjoying live art demonstrations by members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Additionally, there's a library and gift shop offering unique handmade items for sale.
I am truly in love with this place. I love all the art and unique items. If you have an appreciation for art, whimsy things, craft, or just history. Definitely come. The upstairs was so lovely. I LOVE the wood carved birds. I recommend getting one, the gentlemen is also so kind and hardworking. I would definitely say, everything is so expensive, but everything’s so nice to look at. The blue Shaw, I will come back for it ONE DAY, I’ve never been so in love. The place was great, the staff was so sweet and friendly. The information was great. The lady at the information desk also, wonderful I adore her. I just so recommend this place.

Lovely time to come visit the Folk Art Center. We visited last winter when NC had been severely damaged from the Hurricane Helene and it is wonderful seeing all of the beautiful crafts on display in the center and seeing the artists who made them. So happy to be able to support local artists and to support the reconstruction of the Blueridge parkway. Thank you for all you do!
Juliet C — Google review
This might be an interesting stop at the start of Blue Ridge Parkway. The exhibits at this center change, and we found some lovely wool works. They were very cute and made us smile. There's a wonderful gift shop, which already had a lot of interesting and truly beautiful Christmas tree decorations in October. I can only imagine what luxurious Christmas tree decorations will appear here in November and early December! We didn't buy anything because the prices were too high for us. But if the prices had been a little lower, I would have left with three or four purchases for sure!
Natalya M — Google review
The Folk Art Center in Asheville is a wonderful place to visit, especially if you’re driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We headed north toward the top of the mountain, and the colors were absolutely beautiful. It’s a great time to visit — this weekend was amazing, and the coming weekend should be just as lovely with the fall colors. The place is clean, well-maintained, and offers plenty of free parking. There’s no entry fee, and they even have restrooms available. Inside, you’ll find beautiful handmade crafts and artwork, as well as a few art galleries where you can purchase unique pieces. The lady at the help desk was very kind and helpful — she patiently answered all our questions and explained everything clearly. Overall, it’s a lovely stop with a peaceful atmosphere and plenty of local charm. Definitely worth visiting if you’re exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Anurag K — Google review
I always stop here whenever I’m in the area to see what I can find. Wide variety of gifts for yourself or others with a range of prices. If you have young children, you may want to have one parent walk around with them outside since there are lots of breakable things. There is also a small gift shop for the Blue Ridge Parkway that has some cute things for kids! There are also usually crafters demonstrating their techniques. Lots of parking as well
Heather P — Google review
Outstanding collects of local arts and crafts. Here you will find a bit of everything and many offerings are reasonably priced or unique in style. This place is worth a look and your time. Great for gifts or for your personal collection of goods s.

If you're in the area and you need something to do this would be a great place to stop and explore lots of different exhibits on the folk art of the Blue Ridge Parkway lots of things to look and the way it was set up was planned out well they have a visitor center gift shop and a Folk Art Center gift shop you'll definitely find something interesting here
Lewis K — Google review
The Folk Art Center is one of the stops on the Blue Ridge Parkway. A lot of the Parkway is still closed and this is the last stop at the moment as there are barriers preventing you from going north. The Folk Art Center is free to visit. Sometimes when I visit, you can see people working on their crafts. They were during my most recent visit. The building is accessible for everyone. The first floor has restrooms, the Southern Highlands Craft Guild shop and a Blue Ridge Parkway shop and an information desk. The second floor showcases the art. I love seeing all the different types of art from the quilts to woodworking to basket weaving. I enjoyed the stained glass and a canvas that was woven. It was quite unique. I enjoy the rotating exhibits as it is different each visit. Outside there are some trails if you want to explore nature.

The Thomas Wolfe Memorial State Historic Site is a museum located in the childhood home of the renowned writer Thomas Wolfe. The site offers exhibits and educational programs, providing visitors with a glimpse into the life of the author and the era in which he lived. Housed in the Old Kentucky Home boardinghouse where Wolfe grew up, the museum showcases over eight hundred items related to the writer and his literary works.
I love this place “The Thomas Wolfe House Memorial and Museum” is a great place to stop while in Asheville. The museum and film are free to view but house tours are $5 plus sales tax. The tours run every hour starting at 9:30am and the last at 4:30pm. The guided house tour takes around 45 minutes. The introductory film about Thomas Wolfe's life runs about 20 minutes and provides a lot of background information. The Museum is also very informative. I liked the new exhibit that showed how the house was originally and then how it was after the first additions and the second additions. 1 had an informative guide that provided me with a good sense of what it was like growing up and living in the boarding house. The house is well kept and filed with many historical treasures. There is a small gift shop in the museum that sells books about Wolfe; Wolfe's books; toys; photos and postcards. Free parking in front of the house.
Otto — Google review
The best part of our trip. This is an excellently preserved house with exquisite original furnishing and an amazing story to tell. We took the tour with Kayla and it was an incredible look through the history of a private business run by a woman in the early 1900’s and a world famous setting to the book by Thomas Wolfe. The house is incredibly well preserved and the rooms while sparse are designed for making money for the proprietress, not visual beauty though often they are. In comparison to Biltmore in the same city it’s night and day in the sense of tactile and realistic portrayal of a human life. This is a scale that is easily recognisable to most. Also very cheap at only five bucks a head while Biltmore is like Disneyland trying to fleece you for everything you’ve got. They have his mother’s dresses and his sister’s high school diplomas for pete’s sake. Astounding experience.

Great exploration of Thomas Wolfe's childhood andnits significance to his work.

Wow. Kayla brought this place to life with a tour that combined deep knowledge of the boarding house and Thomas Wolfe personally with a clear passion for sharing the story of this amazing treasure. If you want to experience a taste of life in the ray 1900s... this is it.

We stumbled upon the Thomas Wolfe house while in Asheville. For $5 you get a narrated tour. Our volunteer guide did a phenomenal job. Best bargain on our trip.
Donna D — Google review
It was very informative. Thomas Wolfe is ranked amongst Ernest Hemingway and F Scott Fitzgerald when it comes to American writers. They have a video you can watch before the tour, there is also an exhibit. For $5 a dossant takes you on the tour of his childhood home, which was a boarding house ran by his mother, and gives you all kinds of information about Thomas Wolfe.
Shahram G — Google review
Good price for a nice tour of where Thomas Wolfe grew up and the memories that inspired his literary masterpieces. The tour is about 45 minute long. A must visit historical site while in Asheville.

Historic Walking Areas
The Asheville Urban Trail offers a unique way to explore the city's history and heritage through a 1.7-mile walking tour. This outdoor museum showcases the remarkable turn-of-the-century architecture that has shaped downtown Asheville, providing a visual feast for visitors. The trail features public art pieces such as the Energy Loop, Deco Gecko, and a bronze statue of Martin Luther King, Jr., among others.
I love the Urban trail although it wasn't really clear where to begin and end. But it's a nice way to get to know the city and shop. :)

The official website to do the urban trail maybe a little off but this is the best way to explore Asheville downtown. We enjoyed exploring the shops in between stops.

A great urban walk that connects nature and city life. This trail is perfect for an easy, relaxing walk. It’s clean, safe, and well-maintained, with plenty of interesting stops along the way — murals, small parks, and bits of Asheville’s creative spirit everywhere you look. It’s an excellent option for walking, running, or simply clearing your mind while enjoying a blend of art and nature. You don’t need hiking experience to enjoy it just comfortable shoes and a bit of curiosity. A beautiful reminder of how a city can celebrate its culture through simple, accessible outdoor spaces.

The scavenger hunt was pretty cool. I got turned around a lot because I wasn't familiar with the area at all. But was really cool to see all these little stops and learn about the history here. Favorite stop would have to be #11 with all the signatures in the guest book.

Fun walking tour! I just wish they had an app so it would’ve been easier to listen and walk using the interactive map. It’s great if you just want to get acquainted with downtown Asheville.

I’m still on the hunt for a few of the stations! Where is O. Henry’s “After Twenty Years” pocket watch sculpture?

Great walk around Asheville. We found some pretty cool hidden gems (restaurants and shops and artwork) as we walked the trail and even learned a bit about the history of Asheville.

Specialty Museums
The Asheville Museum of Science, also known as AMOS, is a small yet engaging science museum located in downtown Asheville. It offers hands-on exhibits and various events for children, making it a perfect indoor destination for families, especially during inclement weather or while spending time downtown. The museum features a tree-house-like climbing gym with a fast slide and hiding spots, providing an exciting experience for kids.
It's small and doesn’t have a ton to do, but if you're into hands-on learning, it’s a fun place to explore. There’s plenty of material to read, blocks and different structures to play with, and a few tunnels to climb through. There’s also a room for designing and creating. Again, it’s not a big place and doesn’t offer a huge variety of activities, but if you want to spend an hour or two learning, exploring, and having some fun, it’s a really nice spot! Plus, it’s only about $10 to get in—kind of a perfect addition to an Asheville day, just maybe not the main attraction. I'm glad I went, but I’d advise everyone to keep their expectations in check. It’s small and not super advanced, but it’s still a cool and educational experience.
Josiah K — Google review
My 12 yo wanted to go to a science museum, and this was the closest one. This is a very tiny museum and if I had a two year old, I would’ve rated it a bit differently. I don’t want to discourage people from going but this place is solely for about age 5 and under. It’s about $11 per person to get in, so it wasn’t a huge loss as far as expenses but still for two adults and a preteen, I can think of 20 other ways to spend $33.
Megan S — Google review
Perfect way to kill an hour with young kids! It’s not a big museum but it’s very hands-on and interactive. It’s intentionally catered to kids of various ages and developmental stages including a climbing tower, a toddler area, and a sand area. Our group of kids (ages 3 y/o, 3 y/o, 7 y/o, and 9 y/o with special needs) all enjoyed it. We paid about $98 total for 4 adults and 4 kids and we spent just under an hour. It took us around 45 minutes with very active boys but we probably could’ve spent more time if we had done the scavenger hunts I saw.
Tori J — Google review
Took the kids there while visiting Asheville. My dad lives there, so we’re kinda regulars. This place has a variety of exhibits and a playground contraception that my kids like a lot. The water exhibit is pretty cool too and the maker space is alright. I think age 7 is about the max. I can’t imagine older kids are going to like it too much. The staff is kind and it is reasonably priced. I’d recommend.
Todd C — Google review
Small but mighty! Excellent value for the price. My 2 children and I visited on a Tuesday afternoon so we found the place pleasantly busy but not crowded. About half of the exhibits appear to be more child-oriented, but we knew that ahead of time. Some of the hands-on things in the interactive room seem, at first glance, geared toward the very young (Duplo blocks and tinker toys, little water table exhibit), but wait! Take time to read the displays, and complete the challenges- those are aimed at children 8-12 years old. My little kids had a great time exploring through play, but the savvy visitor will enjoy the thought-provoking displays. This is a place to explore and engage the mind. Those wanting to be merely “entertained” ought to go elsewhere, but this is a fantastic place to grow and learn. We were limited on time for our visit and will come back when we can stay longer.
Anna S — Google review
Came here on a field trip with my daughter. Great staff who are very informative! Parking is across the street which you have to pay $4.50 an hour. We stayed for 3 hours. The rock exhibit was my favorite and my daughter, who is 7, enjoyed the climbing area. They were able to identify cool things like meteoroids and the way sound travels. They can make accommodations if you need a chair to sit in! There are several places you can sit. They also have a small store to take home a souvenir! My daughter loved it!
A K — Google review
Great space for younger kids! We took our 3yo and he was able to spend almost 90 minutes occupied with activities. Very good if you have a little one that's into space, dinosaurs, rocks. He also loved the scavenger hunts they had available. I think if you have kids under 5-6, it's the perfect space. And is a great indoor activity to get out of the heat. The only one downside is that they had 1 of the rooms (there's only 4 total) closed off for summer camps. Makes sense to utilize that space for camps but feel like the summer price should reflect that if it's not going to be an option at all.
Chandler C — Google review
Great hands-on science museum for kids! It's three large rooms and a gift shop, admission is $10 a person. The staff was over and above cheerful, helpful, and encouraging! We LOVED the 10-15 scavenger hunts they had available. After the completion of each scavenger hunt around the museum the kids got to pick a small stone or a sticker prize..our kids wanted to do them all and the staff were so encouraging and helpful towards them. There's enough for all ages and even a small play house with a slide and a soft toddler play zone.

This zoological park invites visitors to immerse themselves in the rich biodiversity of the area, featuring fascinating creatures like black bears, red wolves, river otters, and even red pandas. Originally known as Asheville City Zoo until its renaming in 1973, this center emphasizes conservation and environmental education for all ages.
This is one of my absolute favorite places in the world. especially in Western North Carolina. this place is a true gem in the mountains that nobody even recognizes. there's a huge collection of animals.... they're friendly , they're out to be viewed almost all the time, and there's great picture opportunities it's just a very very well taken care of zoo and anything you do now really helps them after hurricane Helene so let's all support the nature center. it's a great great place and I hope everybody gets a chance to visit!!!

We stopped here as a place for the kids to stretch their legs during a long car ride. It was so good! Nice shady, paved pathways. Fun animals. Can't wait to go back and experience the updates they have planned.
Julie K — Google review
The perfect place for families. Strollers are welcome and there’s plenty of room for running around for the older kids as well as a couple of small playgrounds. And of course there are the animals! Some information boards help and the animal areas are well maintained. There is an informational video about Hurricane Helene and what staff had to do to keep the park and animals safe.
Katie M — Google review
Nice little park with a couple of entertaining bears, playful cougars, entertaining otters, 3 wolves running about, some goats, sheep, chickens, a donkey and a skunk. The red pandas were so cute and happily going after their bamboo. We could not see much of the foxes, grey wolf, or the raccoon as they appeared to be sleeping comfortably. It was nice to get out and walk around and check out the enclosures along the path. There were several nice spots for young children to play and interact with the surroundings.
Stephanie T — Google review
You can view most of the animals really well. It’s a small zoo with lots of room for kids to run and play. My husband and I enjoyed the bears and cougars the most. We bought a membership and it gives you access to discount or free admission to zoos, aquariums and science centers across the country.

Great way to spend a few hours. The habitats are spacious for the animals and there are a lot of covered pathways. It was nice and cool in the shade and so interesting to see all the animals running around. There are a few play areas for kids as well.

First time visiting from the Atlanta area and we fell in love! The park is quiet and exhibits well designed. Got wonderful views of the black bears, grey wolf, red wolves, vultures and more! Will definitely be another spot to visit again on our annual Asheville trip!

Grove Arcade, a historic building in downtown Asheville, is a must-visit destination for shopping, dining, and exploring. Built almost 100 years ago as the country's first indoor shopping mall, it has been restored to its original grandeur. The first floor houses galleries, restaurants, and shops while the upper floors are home to offices and residences. Throughout its history, Grove Arcade has served various purposes including as a military center during World War II and the National Weather Records Center.
The interior of the building is breathtaking. Definitely worth walking around inside. There are several cute boutiques and unique stores. The upper floor is full of offices. This is a great place for good photos, getting a unique gift, or just to get in the AC while exploring downtown Asheville.
Avery W — Google review
Once called "the most elegant building in America", this is a visually stunning shopping arcade. It's worth wandering around just to enjoy the architecture, and you can take the elevator up a floor to where it's really quiet to enjoy the view from above as well. It's an incredibly impressive and well preserved building, and there was a nice range of shops and boutiques, including some great cake and coffee shops that were worth a stop.
Paul — Google review
It’s a beautiful building, but you can’t access any of the upper floors. And the bottom floor doesn’t have much of anything at all. A few boutiques but that’s it. Don’t let your kids be fooled, the building may be called “arcade” but there is nothing similar to an arcade for kids to play games. The only part interesting about this building is the architecture, not worth stopping off of the Trolley Tour either so don’t waste your time unless you just want to look at the architecture for 2 minutes and walk up and down the street at all of the shops.
Britt L — Google review
If you love architecture and historic buildings, Arcade Grove is a must-see. It is one of the most beautiful structures, complete with spiral staircases, sculptures, and intricate embellishments throughout. Walking through felt like being taken back in time, surrounded by the charm of a true masterpiece. Beyond its beauty, the building also hosts many local small businesses and restaurants, making it both breathtaking and full of life.
Erica M — Google review
Beautiful shopping mall with beautiful architecture. The shopping mall is very small with few shops, but the place looks beautiful. Not much to do in the mall, there are no major flagship stores, but the mall looks wonderful. There are cafes and some specialty stores around the mall, but that’s it. The area around the mall is enjoyable for walking. Parking around the mall isn’t free, and the space is quite difficult to find, even in weekdays.

So beautiful to look at, you have to make time to shop too! The outside wasnt a thrill, but imagine my surprise at the inside. Just wow! The dont make shopping like this anymore

Nice building with plenty of locally owned businesses. Interesting architecture and decor. Good place to grab a bite, beverage and shop around.

This shopping center remains me of some shopping centers I have visited in Europe: historical buildings, high ceilings with glass roof, high end shops with attractive window displays, crafted and elegant architecture details. Though much smaller than its European counterparts, Grove Arcade maintains very well and its original charm. Did not get a chance to visit stores inside. But will definitely come back.

The Asheville Art Museum, established in 1948 and recently renovated, is a hub for American art from the 20th and 21st centuries. It offers engaging exhibitions throughout the year, providing opportunities for education and enrichment through visual arts. The museum hosts various programs such as classes, workshops, artist talks, and special events. Visitors can explore permanent collections and unique exhibits while learning about western North Carolina's art scene.
Very good museum with collections of Appalachia arts. Interesting roaring exhibits as well. Friendly and helpful staff. Worthwhile visit in Asheville.
C L — Google review
I inadvertently went on a community day, free admission, but it's usually $20 for non-locals. They also had some workshops related to the exhibits so I would suggest checking their event calendar if you're interested. Staff were welcoming and helpful. I enjoyed the Flora Symbolica exhibit and the Native American art exhibit. It would've been great if the Native American exhibit were larger but I found the pieces interesting. There is a selection of pottery though it's not large.
Clara W — Google review
Asheville is world renowned for it’s art, artists, and artistic sensibilities. We naturally therefore visited the Asheville Art Museum with high hopes. Located in the heart of downtown in a beautifully designed building, which is itself a work of art, parking is as expected for the downtown Asheville, or any other moderately sized cities’ downtown area. It’s not difficult but it’s not easy by any stretch. Thankfully downtown Asheville is very walkable and there are several parking options within half a mile of the museum. The museum staff and docents are friendly and subdued. $20 per adult did not initially seem a steep price for admission, but we were admittedly underwhelmed by the scope and collection of art on display at the museum. Galleries totaling probably less than 5,000 square feet spread across three stories highlight Asheville and Western North Carolina artists primarily, with a varied collection of art mediums and eras. There are lovely oil on canvas, native sculptures of first nations tribes in the area, and an interesting exhibit on Asheville architecture on display during our visit (October 2025), but still the museum felt lacking. We expected significantly more in terms of the collection size and scope, and it appeared that while the building was large on the outside, the majority of the interior was utilized for offices, classrooms, and non-public areas
April — Google review
Came here on a Sunday. No crowding! It was $20 for non locals. The museum had some pretty cool collections. I especially liked the exhibit around florals. The view at the rooftop is also very stunning! While I did enjoy my time, I think $20 is steep for only 2/4 floors of art.
Rosie H — Google review
I really, really wanted to like this art museum but I felt let down. The galleries were sparse and the labels weren’t always posted in a manner so it was clear which piece it was associated with. Very limited mixed media work, as it was mostly paintings. My wife was also nagged about moving her bag in front of her, which was fine, but the person at the admission desk didn’t tell her nor was a basis provided. Let’s just say we didn’t exit through the gift shop.
Joe C — Google review
The Asheville Art Museum is an absolute gem in the heart of downtown Asheville. The building itself is stunning, with a beautiful mix of modern design and warm, welcoming spaces. The collection is diverse and thoughtfully curated I loved how it features both regional Appalachian artists and well known national pieces. The rotating exhibits keep things fresh, and there’s always something new to discover. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and they’re happy to answer questions or share insight about the exhibits. The rooftop café and terrace are a must visit you get a gorgeous view of the mountains while enjoying a quiet moment. Whether you’re an art lover or just looking for a peaceful way to spend an afternoon, the Asheville Art Museum is worth the visit.

My husband and I held our wedding welcome party on the roof of the Asheville Art Museum at the start of September. We love the museum and make a point to visit each time we're in Asheville! It's small and quick, but the art is lovely, and we especially love to see the rotating exhibit on the first floor. To us, it was a no-brainer to have our guests pay it a visit as well. The events team at the museum is AMAZING! They answered every question and every email quickly and calmly, and Neil was SO helpful on the day of the party! It was wonderful to know we (and our parents, who were organizing the whole thing) were in such good hands! My husband and I can't wait for our next visit!

Completed in 1905, it features a distinctive Catalan style and boasts the tallest freestanding elliptical dome in North America.
The Basilica of Saint Lawrence is one of the most beautiful churches in America! The alter is very unique and the dome is awesome! Mass here was great. The priest gave a nice homily, and there was a pretty good crowd!

Remember to check the visitor schedule. Since it is open, just for someday if the week and in a specific time. But I truly recommend visiting the Basílica, the place brings calm and gives you peace. It's full of history and art wherever you look. Love my time at the Basílica

A small basilica worth the trip for several reasons. The priest that celebrates mass is very reverent and one can see him shortly before mass, praying on the side altar. Always a sign of devotion, at least I like to see priests praying. Check the schedule directly with the church as the times do not coincide with the ones posted online.

Discover Asheville in a unique way with Gray Line Trolley Tours of Asheville. Hop on and off the nostalgic red trolleys as they wind through the city, offering narrated insights into its history, heritage, and architecture. Expert guides provide commentary on various attractions and points of interest. The tour covers downtown Asheville, Biltmore Village, Grove Park Village, and the River Arts District.
Had an amazing tour of Asheville as Michael as our guide. We were in the area visiting the Biltmore estate and decided to throw this in our trip. So glad we did, as there is no overview motorized tour of the estate provided. Riding the Gray Line trolley, we were able to hear about the history of Asheville along with the origin story of the Biltmore estate. Michael's entertaining delivery of the information made it easy to digest and retain. I appreciated him pulling over, giving us his full attention and allowing us time to take pictures while he effortlessly relayed stories and statistics. Definitely put this on your to do list as a way to orient you to the city.

My family has the opportunity to experience a fun and exciting ghost tour while on vacation in Asheville NC. Ted our tour guide was awesome! We got a chance to see some off Asheville beautiful buildings and hear the gruesome history about these locations. We also had the opportunity to see a female black bear and her cubs! This is a must do activity if you are ever in Asheville NC. It is definitely worth the trip.😊

This was our second year doing the trolley ghost tour in Asheville and it was just as much fun as the first time around. Honey was our driver and Emeline our guide. I loved that we got a little history and comedy with our tour. The stories were fascinating and kept us engaged. My recommendation is to sit in the middle or back as the front of the trolley does get hot. I’d also suggest bringing cash or using Venmo to tip your driver and guide. They work hard and give a great tour!

Travel Tip – Asheville, NC: Don’t miss the hop-on, hop-off trolley tour! Start by parking at the Asheville Visitor Center (which is a great stop on its own). The trolley runs every 30 minutes, so you can explore at your own pace. Today, we hopped off at three stops, walked around, and found something fun at each one. Plus, the tour guides are a wealth of knowledge—they share fascinating history, fun facts, and local tips along the way. Highly recommend!

Uncle Ted was a perfect country gentleman. His booming voice didn't even need to be amplified. He is a wealth of information about Asheville, sharing stories of Asheville's history and quirkiness. The views from the trolley were superb. We learned a lot and had a lot of fun. It is a great way to see the town and then explore afterwards. I used my military discount which was available at the visitor center. Very worthy tour. Thank Uncle Ted! Go Navy!

Super fun tour that my friend and I were glad we went on. We went on the morning historical tour where we could jump on and off at different locations so we had the pleasure of having two different tour guides that were wonderful. They were full of history and just fun facts that we would have never known, just walking around ourselves. Once night hit, we did the ghost tour and it was a blast also! Honey and AJ were our guides and they were super fun. Very family friendly, which my scaredy cat behind appreciated. But still so fun! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something fun to fill their day for a bit. Lots of history, scenic areas, beautiful homes and architecture.

Asheville Trolley Tour is great! We were staying at the Omni Grove Park Inn during our time in Asheville. The tour operators were extremely knowledgeable about all of the local history and Asheville's famous and sometimes infamous facts. Given that they do this every day it's great that they keep fresh each time. Great professionalism! We got off for an adventure around the Woolworths and ended up at Mellow Mushroom for a late lunch. Got back on around Hay Market Ascend. The River Arts District which was hit hard by Helene is really recovering. The Hospital District was extremely interesting in that Asheville was a location for Tuberculosis TB patients to go for treatment. Finally Thomas Wolfe's impact on the city came through on the tour! Highly impressed and recommended!

LaZoom Tours offers a unique and entertaining way to explore Asheville. Their Comedy Tours provide a blend of informative sightseeing with comedic entertainment, led by costumed guides who ensure an engaging 90-minute adventure for the whole family. For those seeking a spooky twist, the Haunted LaZoom Tour combines humor with ghostly tales, promising an unconventional and amusing experience aboard the iconic purple bus that has become a familiar sight in Asheville.
Me and my friends decided to try this comedy tour as an appetizer to seeing Leanne Morgan later that evening. The bus looked like an adventure in waiting. The LaZoom holding building was full of fun things to look at, comfy places to sit and beverages to buy. You could buy alcohol- but you can only drink it on the bus. We loaded up and got started. The comedians were very funny, had great characters and outfits. They will wrangle the audience into the show now and then. There was a stop at the GreenMan Brewery for a bathroom break and re-stock of drinks. I especially liked this tour because we went to places in Ashville we would not have seen otherwise. There was interesting history thrown about as well. I look forward to taking my family on this tour when I come back for another visit.

I read about "the purple bus" while researching things to do in Asheville. I was on the fence about booking until one of the shopkeepers told us she always takes her out-of-town friends on the tours. We originally wanted to go on the Ghosted tour but they were all booked so we went on the City tour on a Sunday afternoon. We were certainly not disappointed! The tour guides were both hilarious and informative. Unless you have no sense of humor whatsoever, you will love this tour. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

We had a situation with someone on the bus and our guide was very professional and never missed a beat! Absolutely one million percent recommend! We did the historic tour with the brewery stop prior to this and loved it too!! You can’t miss with this crowd! Go!!!

We went on the 3pm Asheville tour on 10/27/25 and had THE BEST TIME!!! Bridget and Scott were absolutely hilarious improv actors! And Alex and Tara were excellent, friendly, and so helpful. This is an absolute MUST if you are in Asheville and I can’t believe we hadn’t done this sooner. Our dog even enjoyed it and the actors were so sweet to her. Their level of comedy is top tier and even surpasses some of the entertainment offerings we’ve experienced in New York City, Orlando, and Las Vegas! This tour is well worth the money and we will definitely be coming back for their Ghosted tour in the future!

I never thought the best performance I'd see in my life was on a old school bus driving between breweries ib Asheville, NC. Thank you Andrew, our host, who effortlessly entertained, informed and wrangler our motley crew of birthday celebrations, a bachelor and bachelorette party, and the rest of our raucous and rambunctious crowd. Thank you Drayton and the Drwamboats for the most incredible and fun show I have ever enjoyed - you had every one of us singing and cheering along in joy with your incredible skill. Of a history of finding fun things to do for my Dad's birthday, you became the ultimate highlight of any adventures we have out together for him. To literally make this trip on the 1 year to rhe day anniversary of Hurricane Helene, to drive through areas still showing the scars of that storm, and to join with the true spirit and character the people of Asheville have not just survived with, but thrived, was an honor and a privilege. Anyone coming to visit us from now on we are driving up the hill from Greenville to take on a LA Zoom tour. For anyone reading this wondering if it's worth it, when is the last time you sang the theme to Ducktales with a bus full of happy people?

I can't wait to do another tour! These guys were great and had us laughing the whole hour. We did the ghost tour and they put a lot of history into the comedy, which were the funniest parts. Several unexpected, and hilarious events took place, which I won't give away. Get some drinks at their bar and take them on the bus!!!

Did the city tour this summer and had to go back for the haunted comedy tour as the seasons changed! Amazing show each time-love the different tour guides especially Bones from tonight. 10/10 performance. Glad to have this attracting in Asheville and can’t wait for family to visit so they can experience it too!

Gardens
Nestled in Asheville, North Carolina, the Asheville Botanical Garden is a non-profit garden and arboretum spanning 10 acres. It features over 600 species of Appalachian plants along a half-mile trail. The garden is part of the Botanic Gardens Conservation International and showcases diverse plant life. Visitors can enjoy a family-friendly hiking trail at UNC Asheville, offering picturesque views and babbling waters for a leisurely stroll or picnic lunch.
The Asheville Botanical Garden is a peaceful place to explore. I liked how well the plants and trails are marked with information, which makes it easy to enjoy and learn as you go. You can tell the garden is cared for and appreciated by the community. The gift shop is really nice too, with a good mix of nature inspired items, local art, and thoughtful gifts. It’s a pleasant stop before or after a walk through the gardens and adds to the overall experience. I’ve even been able to walk down to Reed Creek and either sit and relax or do a little art, which makes the visit even more enjoyable.
Craig C — Google review
The Asheville Botanical Garden was just okay—not bad, but not particularly memorable either. The setting is peaceful and there are some nice native plants, but the overall layout felt a bit underwhelming. It’s more of a nature walk than a full garden experience, and it didn’t seem very well maintained in some areas. There weren’t many signs or labels on the plants, which made it less informative than expected. It’s a pleasant place for a short stroll, and admission is free, which is a plus. However, if you’re expecting a more curated or expansive botanical experience, this might not meet your expectations. It’s fine for a quick visit, but not something I’d go out of my way to see again.
Timothy F — Google review
Not as full as larger, paid gardens, but that's nothing to complain about, especially when this is free. It's a nice area and the parking isn't bad unless there's an event. There are some pretty sights here, and it's very interesting to see all of the labeled species of plants. Definitely check out the cherry blossom tree by the bridge, and also the creek, which you are able to walk in. There's an accessible loop trail that isn't too long.

The Botanical Gardens offer a peaceful retreat filled with native plants, winding trails, and the calming sounds of nature. It’s the perfect place for a relaxing walk, quiet reflection, or simply enjoying the beauty of the region’s flora. The paths are easy to navigate, and there are benches tucked away for sitting and soaking in the scenery. I especially loved the stream running through the garden—it adds such a tranquil touch. It’s clear that the space is well cared for and loved by the community. Whether you’re a nature lover, a photographer, or just looking to unwind, this spot is a must-visit. And the best part? It’s free to explore, with donations welcome to support their mission. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Asheville! 🌼🌲

Thank you to the Asheville Botanical Gardens for providing the most intimate and memorable scene for my wedding. My husband and I are from Asheville and both have history with the gardens while growing up. Being able to take our next step together in a setting that means so much to us was truly special. We loved giving back to a place that provides so much to the local community.

The Adventure Center of Asheville is a haven for thrill-seekers and outdoor enthusiasts. It offers an array of adrenaline-pumping activities, from zip-lining through picturesque treetops to conquering challenging outdoor obstacle courses. Families and adventure lovers alike can find excitement here. Additionally, visitors can experience the Haunted Trail with live actors, spooky sounds, and impressive props during select dates in October.
My friend and I enjoyed our experience! We did the full zip tour. I did it with my friend it took about 1 and half hours since it was just the two of us rather than a huge group which would have taken longer. Anna and Jack were very kind and knowledgeable! The zip lines are hand break operated (not just gravity powered) so they teach you how to do it before going on the course. We were allowed to take our own pictures between zips (not possible during zip lining) pictures are not provided. If you want to take your own, make sure you have extremely deep pockets or pockets that have a zipper to feel safe about bringing your phone. The zip lines are on their property so it’s not a canopy tree view; you do see some trees but it’s not a canopy view. One picture is of the longest one, the others are much shorter zips. One thing I would change is if they could have a more exciting “sky bridge” option for the more adventuresome. Thank you Anna and Jack for your hard work!

Ive lived locally here my whole life and never been here before. What a thrill! Ive done similar tree courses but these were well designed and pretty difficult on their more challenging courses. We survived the red and black course! Definitely will be returning with more friends!

We celebrated my daughter Elly’s 8th birthday at the Adventure Center of Asheville, and it was absolutely amazing! Elly loved the zip line course — she went on it 10 times and didn’t want to stop! The Rangers were so friendly, patient, and informative, making sure all the kids felt safe and confident. They explained everything clearly and made the whole experience fun and easy to understand. The location is super convenient — just a short drive from home — and perfect for a fun-filled day outdoors. This was such a memorable birthday for Elly, and we’re already talking about coming back. Highly recommend for active kids and family celebrations!

My husband and I loved this adventure!! I am terrified of heights and it was an incredible bonding experience for my husband and I. We ended up completely orange, red and black!! I was so close to the end and my body was exhausted and the team members were so motivating. They really did help keep me moving forward. I was proud of myself for not letting my fear keep me from completing the challenge. Highly recommend!!!!!

Our family of 5 had great time at the tree top adventure. When you have kids from 7-13 it’s sometimes hard to find something everyone can do at the same time and this place surpassed my expectations. The staff was amazing and so helpful to ensure we had a great time. We can’t wait to come back and try more adventures.

My son had his 5th birthday at the Zipline course. The email I received after registering had all the information that my guests needed. The course was perfect for 4-7 year olds. They were engaged the whole time and the instructor used to be a Kindergarten teacher and was excellent with kids. Afterwards, we used a picnic table to do cake and the kids ran around and played. It was perfect!

Quin and Grant were guides. They both were super nice and awesome personalities. We had a blast. We did a total of 9 zips I believe or somewhere close to that. They provided all the necessary gear. They have people at the front who can hold your things but I would just leave it in the car. Sunglasses were helpful. Workout close and closed toe shoes. Plenty of parking available.

I can’t say enough good things about the Asheville Adventure Center! This past weekend I brought my 5-year-old son, Vance, to the KidZip course, and we both had an absolute blast. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded expectations. A huge shoutout to Sam, who worked with Vance—she was incredible. Patient, upbeat, encouraging, and fun—she knew exactly how to make him feel confident while keeping things safe and exciting. She’s truly an asset to the Adventure Center, and her energy made the whole experience that much better. The course itself blew me away. I honestly went in expecting your typical “kids activity,” but this was on another level. It was engaging, adventurous, and fun—not just for kids, but for parents too. I found myself grinning ear to ear right alongside my son. It was a real shared adventure, not just something I was watching him do. We left with huge smiles, awesome memories, and Vance is already asking when we can go back. If you’re in Asheville and looking for something unforgettable for both kids and parents, the KidZip at Asheville Adventure Center is a must-do.

This tour was fantastic. Dimitri was our guide, and it was just outstanding. He has this unique talent for guiding people and interacting with them (even singing and cooking) and, of course, a vast knowledge. I highly recommend this activity to everyone.

Our family had the MOST fun today on our foraging tour. Guides Christian and Krista were ridiculously knowledgeable and made the whole experience interesting. Christian knows everything about every plant we saw I think. I was a little skeptical about foraging in winter but she uncovered so many edibles and medicinals in just a short walk. We cooked many of our findings this evening to great reviews from the people who didn’t join the tour. I would absolutely go again, especially in the different seasons and at different locations, and would request our guides. This was great fun for all and I highly recommend it!

The gallery's sculpture gardens and working artists studio promote a peaceful and calming environment. More than 500 creators have their work on display here, from contemporary artists to those from all across the country.
A beautiful gallery 2 stories inside & art outside too! Love the art, artists, & kind gallery folks!
Jeri B — Google review
The Grovewood Gallery is my favorite gallery to browse and shop. Best of all, since it is located in Grovewood Village, you can park in the museum lot for free and avoid the excessive fees the Omni charges. On my last visit, I was staying at the hotel, so I didn't drive there, so I had to limit my purchases to be able to get them back to the hotel. I was hoping to go back on checkout day, but they had me exit the other way. Besides the 9000 ft gallery, there is a sculpture garden outside. I love looking at the variety of art. Some pieces I really loved were more than I could afford but I can still appreciate them. Glass and metal are the art styles that appeal to me at the moment. The metal grabbed my attention here a few years ago as it was different, and reusing the metal while transforming it into something new. I still have my large metal frog. Now I have a lot of metal art. I will need to get some pictures of the latest pieces. I still wish I had gotten the giraffe, too, but transporting was going to be a problem. I did get a photo of it. So maybe it will be there when I go back or something else will grab my eye. I will get some photos of my treasures from here. The customer service is top-notch here and they carefully wrap everything.

Pritchard Park is a vibrant urban park located in downtown Asheville, known for its tree-lined paths, water feature, and large boulders. One of its main attractions is the lively drum circle that takes place every Friday night from April to October. The drum circle brings together a diverse group of people who come to drum, dance, or simply enjoy the rhythmic atmosphere. Visitors can bring their own drums to join in or simply watch the captivating performances.
The Friday Drum Circle was an unexpected thing for me in Asheville. I was just walking by and saw it! It was really cool. If you’re around on Friday I would highly recommend going to Pritchard Park and seeing some local Asheville street music!
Andre M — Google review
Friday evening drum circles at Pritchard park are a tradition. One of the nicest urban parks in Asheville for sure flanked by lots of dinning options. In the late 90s the ashevile police department threatened and chased us away when we were feeding the homeless, and even threatened our patent organization "food not bombs". Asheville cops can't shut down the vibes tho, the drum circle lives in and we still feed the needy.
Miles F — Google review

What a beautiful park this is! If your downtown Asheville on a Friday evening there is also a chance you will get to experience the local drum Circle. Easy to find and a must see! 💜
Shawna K — Google review
The pictures of the park, as well as Asheville as a tourist vacation spot, do not reflect the problems the city has with homeless camps in the parks, city sidewalks and all over the city, drug paraphernalia littering the streets too.
Mcneillmama50 — Google review
I am not a local, so I cannot attest to the condition of the park throughout the week. I attended the drum circle on Friday and had so much fun. Yes, there were some homeless wandering around, but everyone was smiling and dancing and having fun with all the drummers!
Tawni L — Google review
The Friday eve 6pm drumming circle is a gem that attracts all ages. All manner of percussion instruments provided many layers of sound. People join in with free style dancing, hula hooping, juggling. I was inspired to purchase multiple types of second hand percussion instruments for the family. If you are from out of town as we are, you can take the joy home and have plenty of fun. Gather the family and invite everyone to drum along with the Drumming Circle you tube videos people have posted.

Pack Square Park is a vibrant community green space in Asheville, popular for hosting festivals and events. The park features a stage, shade trees, and an amphitheater area where live music acts entertain visitors during weekend festivals and craft shows. One of the highlights is the free outdoor concert series called Shindig on the Green. Additionally, Splashville, a fountain area that doubles as a splash pad for kids, provides entertainment for families during live music events.
Nice lil place to hang out - had some fun stuff going on there last night
Jessie S — Google review
Such a mixed bag, depending on the event. We have been going to pack Square for about 20 years now. During the day it’s lovely with the splash park, but sometimes in the evening, depending on the free concert, you do get some rowdy folks. Not super rowdy people, and it’s certainly not Our own house less folks, although some people like to blame the houseless population. They seem to be rowdy folks that are there to drink and they’re usually pretty drunk before the concert even starts. And they are stepping on people’s toes and not aware of their body and their surroundings and just generally making things dangerous. It would be lovely at the events when they are serving drinks if they had more police patrolling, again, not for our local houseless population, because they’re really not doing anything wrong, but for the rowdy who have clearly had too much to drink. And it also often seems like these folks are coming from out of town, because they talk about it, how much they love being able to go to Asheville and really listen to the music and get drunk. So I’m hoping we’re monitoring them. It would be lovely if there could be more police presence That is focused on those people overindulging and not focused on people just merely sitting and enjoying the park. All that said, if it is not a big free concert that folks are coming to drink and be loud, it is a super safe space. We have had our kids’ ballet recitals there. We have had all sorts of lovely family- focused activities there. It just seems to be the bigger names that draw the crowds for the free concerts (often out of town, and I also see them littering and throwing things around. Hey, it’s not their town, right)? So they’re disrespecting our park. I would love to see more police presence handling those folks in particular. This concert in particular that you see in the photos, in one where my husband performed with the Asheville beer choir, as an opener before a big headliner. And I guess it had been a long time since we’d gone to a big headliner event, but wow, we were surprised at the rowdiness.

It's a good setup for a festival but not overly well maintained. I do think the covered stage is pretty cool. The sound quality was great on this particular setup.

Wow this grocery store is amazing! Clean, organized, lots of food and dietary selection has lots of options New light saving set up so that when you walk by the coolers the lights only come on when you walk by which was cool. Was not busy at all and was able to find everything I needed. Met a very sweet old lady named Esther. She complimented me on my outfit and then I asked her if she needed a ride but she had a Uber or Lyft waiting. She moved here from Canada was just so cute and sweet. The only reason this is getting four stars is because it was pretty expensive and the bathrooms needed to be cleaned. The employee that was by the self-checkout did go to customer service for me and got a card for discount even though he wasn't thrilled about it
Kerry J — Google review
This city center park in downtown Asheville is where it all happens. There's a large amphiteater, a cooling fountain and the first skyscraper in the city. At one end, city hall. At the other is the Vance Monument (Zebulon Vance was the 37th and 43rd Governor of North Carolina). Neat spot for festivals and music performances. Veterans Memorial. The concept for the square started in 1901 when an Asheville philanthropist George W. Pack donated land to the county, it was named Pack Square. The park opened in 2009 at 6.5 acres and includes the Rover McGuire Green and the Reuter Terrace. Great spot to hang out, any time of the year.

The Moogseum in Asheville, North Carolina, is a celebration of the legacy of Robert Moog, the influential electronic-instrument maker. The museum showcases the history and impact of Moog synthesizers on modern music, featuring interactive exhibits and historic instruments for visitors to experience. One notable display is a rudimentary synthesizer called Brasstown Bangers, built by children under Moog's guidance in 1972.
Wonderful museum!! So glad that I was in Asheville and found out that the Moog museum was there. Well worth the time. The history of the Moog and Theremin was presented. Hands on instruments!!! No video or photos allowed inside.
Lee H — Google review
Very cool smaller museum for synth enthusiasts! I enjoyed all of the interesting historical info and old gear. This museum is mostly for synth people. Not really a museum for the whole family. Pros - The hands on theremin station. Being able to play the moog synths and patching stations. Cons - some of the video exhibits were a bit boring. I’m not very interested in watching videos at a museum these days. Also, I would have liked to play their modern synths as well. Definitely more synths to play! Overall - WORTH IT!
Evan C — Google review
We walked in right as they opened. I am a huge synthesizer nerd, so as soon as I saw this on the Asheville map, I knew I had to go (literally jumped in excitement.) Overall a neat little museum for enthusiasts and the lady working the door was very passionate about it. Unfortunately many, if not most of the displays were in ill repair or not working at all, but tickets were very cheap and all sales support the Bob Moog Foundation.
Evan H — Google review
We were in the area and my son was so overexcited to visit this place! He was in 7th heaven the whole time! I wasn't nearly as excited as him, but it was still kinda cool and interesting. Maybe if I was a fanatic, I'd give it 5 stars. No photos allowed inside beyond the lobby. Taking the whole family cost more than I expected. If you're going yourself and just paying for a ticket or two, not a big deal.
Z M — Google review
Really enjoyed the museum! It was packed full of interesting details of Bob Moog, plus had opportunities to play multiple instruments. Highly recommend trying out the theremin - it's difficult but fun!
Miranda A — Google review
Very cool experience! Some great history on Bob Moog, his life, his legacy, and his creations! If you are a lover of synths, history, music, etc it is well worth a visit! We bought out tickets in advance, and even with people coming through as walk-ins, it was not ever overcrowded. While this is what we chose to do, I wouldn’t say it is a must to buy in advance. I’m a planner, so it’s just what I do. A slight wait at some hands on activities - yes, there are plenty of hands on exhibits to play theremins, modular synths, and modern synths! The man working (I can’t remember his name), was very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! When I called earlier in the week to inquire about it, the woman I talked to was also very friendly and knowledgeable! I would definitely recommend!

Please stop grifting already. If you're an actual legitimate non-profit, not doing anything, for profit or salaries to the maximum you can before it's "profit"; then you'd be happy to accept donations for entry. That's not how this place operates, because that's not what this place is. First thing I saw were Moogs designed post Asheville purchase sitting right up front. Buying the new slop that has a Moog named attached to it because the family sold ownership shares as fast as they possibly could to Mike Adams after Bob passed and putting it as the first thing you want to sell me a $12 pass to go play around on, with headphones, ain't it. $12 to go play around on Moogs like you could for free at Guitar Center. Oh but they printed some panels on posterboard. $12 to go play around on Moogs without speakers and read some wikipedia entries on posterboard. I would bet there's a plastic theremin in there too. If you guys are an actual non-profit, not trying to line pockets with 'salaries' and pretend that isn't profit, well... start accepting whatever people want to donate to come look at your printed wikipedia quotes on posterboard and play the InMusic "Moog" instruments through headphones.

The Orange Peel is a renowned live music venue located in downtown Asheville. It has a rich history, once serving as a famous black soul and RnB club in the 60s and later revitalized in 2002 to become a vital part of the city's musical heritage. With a capacity for over 1,000 people, it hosts various acts from local favorites to national performers. The venue features two bars offering numerous local drafts and a basement cocktail lounge with live streaming from the stage.

An awesome venue and place to visit for an event! The Orange Peel has so much character and history to it. Use saw Larkin Poe there and we had an exceptional time. Lots of awesome posters along the wall when you walk in of all the artist that have played there. 2 bars to choose from + the ‘pulp’ downstairs that has a full liquior bar. Tons of bourbon to choose from, even pappy van winkle. Not a lot of seating where the venue is but lots to sit and hang out down stairs at the Pulp.

Asheville Pizza & Brewing Co is a lively establishment in North Asheville, known for its locally brewed beers, specialty pies, and upbeat atmosphere. It's highly regarded by the gluten-free community for its delicious gluten-free pizza that has received rave reviews from people with celiac disease. The funky decor adds to the fun dining experience, and guests can also enjoy comedy shows, trivia nights, or catch a film at their movie theater.
First time here, very cool spot. The thin crust pizza was excellent and pretty quick on getting food. The staff recommended some great beer options. The movie theater in the back was pretty cool to see. If I lived local this would be a regular spot for me! Definitely recommend coming here if you haven't already.

We always stop by Asheville Brewing & Pizza when we're in town - great pizza, awesome beer, and a fun, relaxed vibe. They’re super dog-friendly, which makes it even better. One of our favorite Asheville beer spots!
Whitney L — Google review
The staff was not very nice kinda rude and short! The pizza left much to be desired. The dough was kinda gummy and no sauce. Probably the driest pizza! We won’t return for the food maybe the movies.

My new favorite place to go watch movies. The ticket price is much more affordable than big movie theaters, plus you're supporting a local business. The pizza is delicious, and they have vegan options. Just make sure to arrive earlier to place your order for the movie. Great, fun, movie experience!

I used to go to this location and the one downtown regularly back 10 + years ago. We were going to go to the downtown location recently but they oddly weren't open during the weekend when we were trying to go. We therefore ended up at the merrimon location. We sat at the patio since we had our dog with us. The patio furniture could use a refresh (slightly rusty) and I remember when 15 years ago the weekend was so busy with everyone getting the pizza buffet. It seemed a lot more quiet than I remembered but other than that it's still a nice vibe. We specifically went for their fire escape beer. I hadn't found it bottled and sold at Ingles in over a year and we were missing it. The Brew and View website said they had fire escape on draft at that location so we were pretty excited. Unfortunately, when we got there they told us they'd just ran out so we didn't stay for too long. At some point we'll probably try again and fingers crossed I find fire escape bottled again.

Love the vibe, love that you can catch a movie here on the cheap, love the super friendly, helpful and laid-back employees, love the pizza. 🍕 A real highlight for us was the Lil’ Nicky’s Detroit Deep Dish , which came to the table sizzling and fragrant. The sauce was fresh, and my oh my, that extraordinary CRUNCH in the cheesy crust was Nirvana, baby! 🍕 It’s also cool that they can accommodate lactose and glucose intolerant customers with tasty offerings, no prob. 🍕 Oh, and the Tot-Chos - Just. Do. It.

This place has such a cool atmosphere! I urge you to please check it out if you’re here in Asheville. You can never go wrong with pizza and nachos. They show movies, have trivia, and have great beer selections. Please, check it out! 9 dollars for buffet, free for kids!

Had an amazing house salad tonight, with some French fries and pepperoni pizza as well. Definitely delicious food and fun atmosphere. enjoyed some arcade before the movie. The theater had great seating and service if you need to order anything. Definitely a must visit in AVL.

The Black Mountain College Museum + Arts Center in Asheville is a vibrant hub for showcasing the innovative works of college-affiliated artists. The center preserves and explores the legacy of Black Mountain College, an influential educational institution that operated from 1933 to 1957. Despite its brief existence, the college attracted maverick spirits such as Willem and Elaine de Kooning, Robert Rauschenberg, and John Cage.
More of an art gallery of folks with a connection to the BMC than a museum of the college itself, but nice spot all the same! Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Nice little gift shop and no entrance fee but donations are accepted.
Jacob M — Google review
This was an interesting little museum dedicated to the history of a very famous arts college that operated in North Carolina in the mid 20th century. You would think that for such a famous institution, which saw so many famous artists, the foundation would be able to afford some nicer digs and a bigger space. The actual place is just a single storefront, ground floor and basement. The main exhibition area is on the ground floor, and they seem to focus on different members of the college's faculty at different times. Check to see who is being displayed, because when we went, they only had work up by a single painter and almost nothing by anyone else. The basement has a library and discussion/classroom area, gift shop, and a tiny bit more exhibition space.

Nice little museum with an interesting history. Small collection of works but worthy of a visit. Extensive library.
C L — Google review
Very engaging exhibitions at this small museum. Exhibitions focus on art produced by artists who taught or studied at the legendary, avant-garde Black Mountain College, which brought Bauhaus theories of art and craft to the US (Josef and Anni Albers and some of the other instuctors were major European artists who had fled Nazi Germany). I have visited twice and both times, the exhibitions featured wonderful art plus fascinating archival photos and other materials. Most recently, I saw the excellent Jacob Lawrence exhibition, which included new artworks responding to Lawrence's art made by four contemporary artists. I highly recommend visiting!

I enjoyed this museum. It's small, organized, and every piece is thought provoking. The main exhibition contains the rotating exhibition. The basement area contains a small gift shop, learning center, and permanent collection. I was surprised to see a Jacob Lawrence piece (see posted photo) in the collection. The Museum is free, I recommend 45 minutes to enjoy the collection.

To say I adore this museum is such an understatement. From start to finish, every visit I have made to the BMCM+AC over the past two years has been an absolute delight and I am so grateful to the entire team that keeps such amazing works on display for public enjoyment and education. BMC was such a special place and I am so glad its legacy lives on in this way! I'm always looking forward to my next visit.

The Biltmore Estate is a sprawling 8,000-acre property that offers a glimpse into the era before income tax. The estate features stunning art, decor, and manicured gardens, as well as 22 miles of pet-friendly walking trails. Visitors can spend days exploring the property's shops and restaurants while admiring its attention to detail. Despite some ongoing renovations like scaffolding in the banquet hall, touring the interior design and learning about the family history make for an enriching experience.
Kelly G — Google review

Great place, I really give it 2 stars. I went to the Work IT party and it was great for about 3 hours and I think the DJ had a few drinks and just started playing other music....a lot to where a lot of us just stopped dancing around 1130 midnight. We stuck around another half an hour and realized what we paid for was over as far as music we paid to hear. If it was a regular club I would have no issues but to hear 1 2Pac song no Three 6 Mafia, no Trick Daddy one Biggie song and our music would play for 2 mins and change but when he put on the Latin and other music it seemed like every song got fully played. Anyway, great venue great bar but the dj guy shouldn't have gotten paid to drink tequila shots and play music for his friends. My husband and I won't be paying to come to parties here anymore because we didn't get what we paid for when it came to hearing the popular music of the 2000s and 90s. We looked forward to it and skipped other good date night options and it just wasn't worth it.

This used to be one of my favorite venues in town. However, after my latest interaction- or should I say, lack thereof- with them, I will not be going back there. On April 16th, I purchased a ticket for the Boombox show that was happening on the 18th. On the 17th, I just so happened to see a post on their Facebook page from April 7th saying the show was postponed. I have no idea why they postponed a show but continued to sell tickets for it for 9 days. I commented on the post announcing the postponement and asked for a refund. No response. I've emailed them several times. No response. I've messaged their Facebook page. No response. I have had bad experiences with businesses before, but I've never been flat out ignored by one. They dropped the ball when they let me buy a ticket to a show that was already postponed. Then they ignored any attempt I made to get a refund. I have seen countless shows at this venue, dating back to the days when it was Stella Blue, but I won't be returning. All they had to do was refund a ticket because they dropped the ball in the first place. And this whole incident has gotten so under my skin that I've decided to keep a running tab of how much of my business they'll be losing as a result of such poor practices. I'll update this review as needed. 5/9/25 Nth Power Ticket $26 Drinks $25 Total $51 Needless to say, I don't recommend this place. Third Room. The Orange Peel. Grey Eagle. Highland. Sierra Nevada. Plenty of other great options to see shows around town.

My husband and I had a great time. We went for treetops adventure because it was hot that day. Ziplines are more in an open while tree obstacle course are shaded by the trees, obviously. Definitely make the reservations as others are saying. The tour is guided, so you can't just go as you wish. Chose the difficulty level wisely. The course looks much easier from the ground, but it may get strenuous at times. Have fun!

We did the treetop adventure and zip lining. Both were so much fun!!! The Rangers (instructors) were all super friendly and encouraging. They really helped ease any anxiety and fear. If we're ever near Asheville again we would definitely come back!!!
Jessica P — Google review
I was terrified, but I warmed up a bit after the first easy course. If you, like me, get surprised at how scared you are once you're up in the course, I don't recommend the courses with the controlled drop! The staff was so so friendly and helped me through my anxiety. The controlled drop at the end of the yellow course almost gave me a panic attack, but one of the rangers talked me through the best way down and held the harness higher so it was easier to ease myself into the drop. It was a huge help! The equipment (harness, clips, wires) feel sturdy and they do a great job adjusting the harnesses so that they're comfortable and secure. Some spots on the course feel very secure, and plenty of them are wobbly by design. When in doubt, I held onto the wiring my harness was clipped on and tried to decide which deity would carry me through my booked time. I went on a weekend, and there were lots of parents with relatively young kids, so it can be a little loud depending on who you're grouped with, but it wasn't so bad even with 80% of my group having children with them

Too much cool art to see! And lots of incredible jewelry I can’t afford. I arrived at 5:30pm, so I was basically running through to make sure I didn’t miss anything before they closed. I ended up getting a cool skull/spiderweb print for $25! Can’t wait to display it in my home!

We found ourselves looking for some food before attending a concert in town and stumbled upon this neat British-style pub. We sat right down at the bar and were greeted immediately. I ordered a delicious IPA and the hubs ordered a Porter that he enjoyed every much. The ambiance in the place is awesome and the decor keeps you interested. He ordered the Fish-n-Chips, I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, and neither were great. The Shepherds pie tasted good, but left my tummy feeling a bit bumpy. The fish was very greasy and the oil that was used to fry it tasted a tad old, but the slaw that came with the fish was super yummy. We'll definitely go back, but we'd try something different on the menu the next time. The staff is amazing and the service was awesome!

We happened upon Jack of the Wood while visiting downtown Asheville. Not having any set dinner plans, we walked by and took a peek at the menu and thought it looked good so we stepped inside; I was instantly impressed by the atmosphere. The Parkway is still beautiful, but you can tell that the floods stress the trees out so the color wasn't quite as vivid as it has been in the past but still beautiful! Even though some parts north of Asheville i'm still closed the trip down south but still fun and beautiful!

I just saw The Little Mermaid and I cried through the entire show. I saw this movie hundreds of times as a kid...and to see it live...song and performed through people so incredibly talented and devoted to the experience. The costumes were out of this world, and I wish I could hug each performer because this show knocked my socks off. Thank you to the entire cast for giving it your all... Go see anything this place puts on. But especially, go see the little mermaid now.

Went to see Grease Friday night. It was wonderful. The vocal talent was exceptional. The scenery and choreography was well done I had never seen the movie so it was nice to learn the story.

My wife and I visited this theater last night to see the musical performance of Grease. It was awesome. All of the actors and singers were great. The seats were very comfortable and the lights and sound in there were very good. It was an enjoyable event and I recommend visiting here to watch one of the performances.

I’ve always respected Asheville Community Theatre (A-C-T) for its talent and production quality, but what I witnessed during the weekend of October 10 was deeply disturbing and impossible to overlook. During that weekend’s performance, one of the individuals connected with the cast suffered a drug overdose. I was present and personally called 911; Asheville Police and Fire Department responded to the scene. The situation was real, dangerous, and heartbreaking to witness. What troubles me most is that this didn’t come out of nowhere. There is an obvious and ongoing pattern of substance use tied to the environment surrounding A-C-T and the nearby Vault Burger Bar patio. The atmosphere there has become unsafe—open drug use and reckless behavior are visible to anyone paying attention. It’s not the kind of space a community arts organization should be associated with. I’m sharing this not out of malice, but out of concern. Asheville’s creative community deserves support, safety, and accountability. I sincerely hope A-C-T leadership and local officials take this seriously before more lives are put at risk.

The Rocky Horror Show was so much fun. The cast out did themselves, great costumes, awesome singing and very interactive. Everyone left the theater smiling and laughing.

What a delight! I was in Asheville for a conference, staying at the hotel right behind the playhouse and literally stumbled upon the production while taking a walk. I remembered "Our Town" fondly from high school, 45 years ago, and decided to take in the play. One of my better choices. The cast and direction were splendid. The theater is so comfortable and perfect for watching a play. The front of house staff were very welcoming and happy to be there. I have to admit, I shed a few tears near the end--such a timeless theme. And I absolutely LOVE the inclusiveness of the company and the parallel overarching theme of this season. Do yourself a favor...check out Our Town and support Asheville Community Theatre. They have a story to tell...

Located in the heart of downtown Asheville's Pack Square Cultural District, Wortham Center for the Performing Arts is a stunning multilevel performance space that hosts a variety of music, theater, and dance acts throughout the year. The nonprofit center aims to entertain and educate by presenting chamber orchestras, opera performances by Asheville Lyric Opera, and international acts such as Japan's Yamato Drummers and Ireland's Altan.
My wife and I went to see The Paper Crowns at the Wortham Center recently. Show was produced by Rance Haig of Red Legged Frog Productions. It was fairly soon after Hurricane Helene so there wasn’t a lot of activity on the streets. Theater was clean and staffed perfectly as usual. I love coming to this venue for shows.

This venue is top notch, from the lady at the door to the ticket scanner and let's not forget the usher were the most helpful and sweetest folks ever..Joanna put on a great show and the sound was phenomenal..Can't wait to be back in March for Robert Jon

The Diana Wortham Center for the Performing Arts is located in Downtown Asheville. It is a little hidden from the street. It is located in Pack Place and there is a parking garage close by. It is a small theatre with all seats fairly close to the stage so you feel a part of the show. I've seen several shows here, Capitol Steps and Tape Face are two I remember. The staff is very friendly and helpful in finding your seats. I enjoy seeing shows at this theatre.

This is a wonderful place for Performance Arts (recitals, plays, etc). The location on the edge of the south slope of downtown is easy to get to, and the parking deck nextdoor is a huge help. The seating capacity is generous, but intimate, and the floor plan leaves every seat on both levels with a perfect view of the stage. Concession stand has been typically stocked with local fare and refreshments. The stage has a fantastic lighting system, fully capable prop and backdrop capabilities, and the sound has been perfect for every performance I've had the pleasure to attend.

Great trip down memory lane with the Glenn Miller orchestra. We loved the performance and the venue.

Intimate setting for a highly polished production. Happy to hear the "Says You!" producers claim DWT was the most professional space they've played anywhere, and they cited a vibrant community feel as another big plus. Visit often!

Diana Wortham Theater in Asheville is doing an exceptional job at keeping it's patrons safe by requiring masks and either your vaccination card or proof of a negative test in past 48hrs. So, if you haven't been to a theater since the pandemic began, this is definitely one you can feel really good about visiting and supporting. The upgrades they have made are absolutely beautiful! You have got to get in there to see a performance this year. We saw Vitaly last night and he is an exceptional illusionist from Vancouver, BC. What a refreshing blend of art and magic and lots of audience participation. He almost always had a sketch book in his hand, which reminded me of my son. Vitaly would draw, paint, sculpt and the artwork would come to life. His paint brush would continue painting on it's own, in thin air, and the drawings would literally come off the page. What a kind and generous performer as well. After the show he offered a meet and greet in the lobby where he was signing autographs and taking photos with the audience members. My son and his buddy got to chat with him and Vitaly even signed my son's art book. What a memorable experience. I took some before and after the show photos.

The North Carolina Stage Company is a charming neighborhood performing arts center in Asheville that offers intimate seating and showcases local theater productions. Visitors have praised the company for its superb acting, with special mentions for individual performers. The theater itself provides an intimate setting that allows audiences to catch every nuance of the performances. Guests also appreciate the spacious lobby and friendly atmosphere, making it a delightful experience overall.
NC Stage is such a treasured theater in our community. I’ve seen several plays here over the years, but our big tradition is to see the Jeeves production yearly. We always attend the production that allows you to meet the cast and crew, and so several of these photos are us on stage with them. I am a huge PG Wodehouse fan, and I remember when we saw our first Jeeves production here. Even though I’d seen other performances here, I was skeptical about this one only because it’s always tricky when any creative interprets a favorite book, whether the result is a movie or a play, a song, etc. But the actors playing these parts, and the costumes and the sets…Just wow! They really made my favorite Jeeves books come alive in front of my eyes. Kudos to the cast, the crew, lighting, sound, wardrobe…just everybody. We look forward to seeing Jeeves again in winter, and popping into several other productions as our schedule allows. The current season looks fantastic!

Even off to the side of the stage, we had a good seat and could easily follow the action. The actors in the Jeeves productions I've seen are terrific. Great acting, costumes and voice projection.
Debra L — Google review
We attended Is This A Room last night. It was a very powerful performance and magnificently acted. No one stood for an ovation at the end. I think it was because everyone was so wrapped up in the theme that they didn’t want to recognize the theme. The acting was deserving of a standing ovation and more. Thank you Afro an entertaining thought provoking night. We attend regularly and have never been disappointed. Keep doing what you are doing, NC Stage!

This is an amazing little theater. Big city productions quality and professional acting. My husband and I live in Greenville now and we drive to see plays in this small theater... So worth it. Last one was Jeeves Saves the Day this past Saturday. This picture is from the Handle with Care.

Although we have been to Asheville so often, we had totally missed the gem that is NC Stage Company. We were lucky enough to see their new production of "Witch" and we were super impressed. The theater itself is intimate and perfect to catch every nuance of the actors on stage. The acting was superb. Everyone was great, but a special shout-out to Arusi Santi & Gabrielle Story. The sound and lighting was exactly as it should be - totally supporting the play without distracting from it. We cannot wait to be back - kudos to the team!

The Mountain Play Lodge is a great place to go on rainy days. It has a huge treehouse jungle gym, unbelievable soft-foam sculptures, and realistic playhouses.
Our first time here, what an amazing experience. Very clean and very nice staff. My daughter is 15 months old and for 10$ we got 3 hours of fun, and she would have stayed until she passed out. There was an amazing play area for under 3 with safety gates which was nice but she wanted to play in the big kid area. Definitely recommend to anyone and everyone!

About 8-10 years ago I enjoyed running around playing, going down the slides and everything! Well about a few weeks ago, all grown up, I went again as a nanny and bitter sweet memories came back and that was when I wish I was little again and to enjoy it all over again! Everything was pretty much the same since then!
Hadleigh D — Google review
We visited with our two year old while staying at a rental nearby. We so wish we had a place as nice as this near us! It is very large and has multiple different play structures, slides, and themed “houses”. It’s fully gated off to keep littles inside, and also has a special play area for kids under 3 years. Our kiddo is a climber and did great on the bigger play structures. There’s not a lot of places for kids to fall. The slides are some of the fastest slides we’ve ever seen (fair warning- adults go super fast down these- prepare to be sore!). It was not busy at all on Thursday first thing in the morning. No complaints here!

So we took our son here on his first birthday and he had a ball. So did our other 2 kids. We drove over from TN and this by far is worth the money. If you have kids between 1 and 12 this place is for them. Very clean really nice and friendly staff. Lots of stuff for the kids to do. I woukd highly recommend going to this place and giving them a try and least one time. I guarantee we will definitely be going back here a agin the next time we are over this way.

My infant daughter had a lot of fun! Nice and clean place. Friendly staff. Make sure to bring socks. Edit: gave this place 5 stars originally but I’m a little disappointed because last time was our first time and I was prepared to pay the $10 for admission but then the guy at the front desk and his female coworker had said it was free for infants and didn’t charge me and I told him I saw online it costed money but okay I was so happy about that and even ended up telling my mom friends about it. Well, now I look stupid because my husband and I went in today and the lady at the front desk told me it was $10 and I told her last time the guy told us it was free… so just felt lied to and I know it was bad news but she could’ve handled it better.
Minda D — Google review
This place is what every town needs. It's an indoor play place with two age-appropriate jungle gyms, soft play areas, play houses, and a bar and snack bar. It is spacious and open with lots to do for the kids. Different age groups are sectioned off, everything is padded. Prices aren't bad ($8-$13 depending on age and day of the week). Just bring your kids in for the day and let them run. Wishing Pittsburgh develops something similar soon!
Laurel W — Google review
This is such a great place for the kids to play! We loved our experience here! The snacks and beverage choices were on point and there were a lot of places for parents to sit and watch the children play. We can't wait to go back next time we are in town!
Stephanie R — Google review
Couldn't be happier! We stopped here to let the kids expend some energy during a long road trip. The facilities are very clean and the staff was friendly. Our kids are 10, 7 and 4 and they all had a blast! There is a separate toddler area, a pretend town, a castle and 3 different multi-level play gym areas. Definitely worth the admission cost!

Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic drive stretching 469 miles through North Carolina and Virginia, offers access to various hiking opportunities in the Asheville area. The Mountains-To-Sea Trail at Craven Gap is a family-friendly hike off the parkway, part of the Mountains-to-Sea Trail that runs across North Carolina. It's considered moderate with mostly flat terrain and some small climbs. Nearby, the Folk Art Center showcases the region's rich Appalachian heritage with artisan-made pieces for sale and exhibits on craftsmanship.
Breath taking Views along the route and at each pull out. I drove from Soco Gap to the Exit in Asheville stopping at Devils Courthouse the first day and camping down off of hwy 215 then continuing the second day. I hiked to the Devils Courthouse overlook,Black Balsam Knob,Graveyard fields lower falls and stopped at the Pisgah inn and several overlooks.

The Blue Ridge parkway has been a road I have traveled all of my life. I can remember riding to my Grandma's house in Virginia and it's always been a go to for hikes, camp, short cuts and just riding while listening to the radio.. I'm blessed to have it less then 2 miles from where I live and recommend anyone looking for a beautiful ride anywhere along the eastern states and a must at least once to experience a highway taking you thru some beautiful National Parks, untouched by city buildings, trash and commercial anything! For either a day trip or the entire mountain range.. it's a must ride for anyone who loves nature and beautiful scenery!!

Blue Ridge Parkway: America's Favorite Drive The Blue Ridge Parkway is not merely a road; it is a 469-mile-long linear park and an absolute masterpiece of scenic design. Dubbed "America's Favorite Drive," this iconic route gracefully winds through the Appalachian Highlands, connecting Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina. It is an essential American road trip experience that slows life down to a relaxed 45 mph pace, encouraging travelers to savor every mile. The journey is a feast for the eyes, offering a continuous panorama of long-range mountain vistas, pastoral landscapes, and deep forest beauty. Over 200 overlooks provide effortless stopping points to absorb the grandeur, from the engineering marvel of the Linn Cove Viaduct to the picturesque, historic Mabry Mill. Whether you visit during spring's vivid rhododendron bloom, summer's lush green canopy, or autumn's blazing foliage, the natural beauty is unparalleled. Beyond the gentle curves and incredible views, the Parkway is a gateway to adventure and culture. Miles of hiking trails, like those leading to Linville Falls or the challenging climb up Sharp Top at Peaks of Otter, beckon you to explore the rich biodiversity up close. Historic sites and craft centers, such as the Folk Art Center in Asheville, connect you to the heritage of the Southern Appalachians. A drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway is truly a slow-paced, relaxing communion with nature. It’s an unforgettable experience that proves the journey itself is the destination. Highly recommended for any nature lover, photographer, or anyone seeking a peaceful escape into the mountains.

But, one which is absolutely worth visiting, at least once, twice, or even thrice a month! Even if one is not into hiking and/or backpacking 🥾, I can all but guarantee you shall not be disappointed in what of everything the Blue ridge mountains 🌄 have to offer! The company serves as a base camp for hiking enthusiasts in Hot Springs. The Blue Ridge Parkway offers diverse hiking options suitable for various preferences and skill levels.
I had an amazing trip with Anna and BRHC! The pre-trip communication was helpful, and everyone was responsive and kind in answering questions. We stayed in the bunkhouse before our 3 day backpacking trip, and we felt welcomed and invigorated to be around such knowledgeable people regarding the area and the Appalachian trail. Once on the trail our guide, Anna, was enthusiastic and knowledgeable throughout the whole process. She was a wealth of information about the AT, having thru-hiked it a few years ago. I really enjoyed learning about the plants, birds, landmarks, gear, and history surrounding the AT. There was a range of abilities and fitness levels in our group, and Anna made sure everyone was taken care of. I wouldn’t hesitate to hike with Anna & BRHC again, and I hope to go again!

My husband and I booked a half-day tour with Blue Ridge Hiking Co. and had an amazing experience with our guide, Brooks Coker. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole hike enjoyable. We saw beautiful waterfalls, a huge crawfish, a giant salamander, and even came across a rattlesnake sunbathing! Brooks spotted it right away and handled the situation very professionally, which made us feel completely safe. He also knew the best places to stop for bathroom breaks and came prepared with snacks and trekking poles, which made the hike even more comfortable. If you’re considering booking a hike in the area, I highly recommend Blue Ridge Hiking Co. and asking for Brooks as your guide—you won’t be disappointed!

Just returned from a seven-day, six-night backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trail through Great Smokies National Park with Matthew Dobson (Gnome) as our guide. This was an absolutely outstanding trip. I stayed overnight in the Appalachian Trail-er, and the staff there is helpful and kind, and the accommodations are very comfortable. Gnome was in incredible guide, giving us detailed backpacking and equipment advice, history on the Great Smokies, and information on the plants and animals around us--all with humor and an obvious love of the Smokies. I cannot recommend Blue Ridge Hiking and Matt Dobson highly enough. Thanks for a great trip!

She balanced fun and safety perfectly, making sure we enjoyed every part of the experience while staying comfortable and confident on the trail. I had the most amazing hiking experience with my guide, Lizzie, this weekend. We explored 5 falls, with the last 2 being very challenging and exciting! Although I was wearing hiking shoes, she also had extra poles along, which I needed and made my hiking experience even better. The beauty of the forest was breathtaking, and Lizzie allowed time to really take it all in. She was a wealth of information regarding plants, trees, and fungi, and actually all things related to the forest. Her passion for the outdoors, her love of nature, and her broad range of knowledge made her an excellent guide. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to have an immersive, beautiful, and exciting experience.

Citizen Vinyl is a unique establishment located in Asheville, offering a variety of experiences for music and vinyl enthusiasts. The venue houses a record pressing facility, recording studio, farm-to-table cafe, horseshoe-shaped cocktail bar, and record shop all within the historic Citizen Times newspaper building. Visitors can enjoy free tours of the record press and browse through an extensive collection of vinyl records while sipping on craft cocktails at Session bar. The ambiance is enhanced by curated daily tunes played from their vast record collection.
We elected to take the tour of Citizen Vinyl and are glad that we did. Not being from the area (or even the country) there was a history to the building that we hadn't appreciated, and it was nice to understand its origins before it became a music venue. The tour was nicely conducted and then covered its conversion to a music venue. It was nice to see up in the recording studios, but the highlight is seeing the pressing factory at work given how few are left in the world (especially that are independent). There's a good walkthrough on how the process works whilst you can see it all live in the background. We were there in AVL fest which meant we got to see some of the acts being interviewed in the main space, which just added nicely to the overall experience. If you're a music fan - especially if you collect vinyl - it's worth the hour!

The team here at CV is extraordinary. Eric is so kind and thoughtful, El is so genuine and humble, Cassie is so sweet and dependable. 6+ visits, and so many beautiful memories here. Consistently amazing coffee, incredible atmosphere, upstairs to study, chill, talk, etc.. plus the bonus of being in a record store, with record pressing production in the same space. Generous, eclectic mix of music playing all the time. AVL fest 2024 host - Jon Charles Dwyer, c’mon. Plus others. Wedding venue, private events, for real 😮!!! Love, love, love this space.

An innovative jewel in Asheville’s crown, Citizen Vinyl is part record-pressing factory, part history lesson, part cafe and part kick-back lounge. ▪️ Loved the vinyl playlist, loved my Curried Cauliflower Bowl, loved the friendly service and easy vibe, loved looking around at years of time and music distilled into one inimitable concept. ▪️ I waited too long to experience this place - don’t make the same mistake.

What a gem Citizen Vinyl turned out to be. Immediately upon entering I recognize the throwback sounds of The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill on record. This mecca has a quality coffee shop, record store, and record pressing which you can see through large windows. The staff here is very friendly and pleasant to deal with. Pricing is better than standard for a hip coffee shop, and the vibe makes it an even better deal. I didn't purchase any food, so I can't comment on the quality. However, the mocha latte I ordered was wonderful. The to-go cups are corrugated in a manner that mimics the sleeve on other cups so you don't burn your hand, which makes just carrying your coffee around so much more convenient. There is a balcony which is accessible by staircase right next to the service counter. This place is fairly spacious as well. Next time I'm in the Asheville area I'll for sure be back. Well done, Citizen Vinyl. Cheers!

Chilled out Sunday morning vibe, quaffable lattes with perfect art - one triple and the other single shot, the barista split the shot for me! Great tasting coffee and those porcelain cups were just the extra we needed. The scramble is vegetarian and a delicious combo, you are certainly left wanting more.

I thought it was great but it definitely doesn't have restaurants like the sign says, I don't know where that came from. I went in and out of a ton without buying anything (because I can't afford it) and the artists were polite about it. I did get a great deal on some cards though.

I bought a piece of ceramic art from a Japanese lady in a small shop here. She very kindly spoke with me about her art, weather in Japan and the South, and locales in common for an extended period. She inspired me to slow down and take it all in. Forgive me. I misplaced the business card.

The Biltmore Industries Homespun Museum, situated in Grovewood Village, is a small yet captivating museum housed within a former weaving factory. It showcases the rich history of Biltmore Industries, once supported by Edith Vanderbilt. Visitors can explore the evolution of this craft education program into one of the world's largest producers of handwoven wool.
It’s like stepping back in time 80 years to when American was a manufacturing king. Simply amazing. Also. The car museum is one of the best “hidden” gems in Asheville. As long as you’re checking out those attractions, you gotta check out the locally produced artisan shop. This stop should be on your must see list when visiting Asheville.

A lot of beautifully preserved items, representing "homespun" textiles. Not very large. Show yourself around. We never saw a person there, presumably they are lacking volunteers. Free to visit, but donations welcomed. The Homespun museum is next to three other buildings. The antique cars were fantastic condition and you can walk right up to them. Kids loved seeing the handcrank motors and no seatbelts. 😆 There is another building where they did the dye works. Cannot go inside, but can see from an overlook or the windows. It felt like they might do tours of this area during busy times. Last building is art creations for purchase

Wonderful place! So thankful for the owners to allow this place to be free and how well preserve in time the museum is in. They basically left it as it was the place was "working" last month. I hope it stays in the current state for the next generation to enjoy! Please respect the place if you are visiting.

The River Arts District, also known as RAD, is a vibrant and eclectic area in Asheville. It's home to nearly 300 artists who work in various media such as paintings, textiles, ceramics, glass, and jewelry. The district features repurposed industrial and historical buildings that now house artist studios, shops, restaurants, and even a boutique hotel called The Radical. Visitors can take a self-guided walking tour to meet artists and explore their creative endeavors.
Picture perfect way to enjoy the day. Lots to look at and do, interact with local artists, appreciate the artsy characteristic of the building and vibe of the district, view a vast variety of artwork on display or for purchasing, quaint restaurants and shops... it's also a nice outdoor activity.

Very nice park to play and or relax. Lots of places to sit by the river. The have picnic tables and benches up and down the sidewalk and plenty of trees in the park or by the river bank to hang a hammock. It's a cool place to go to enjoy hanging out at a park that has all kinds of things to do or not doing anything at the same time. Tubbing the river, fishing, swimming, walking, running, reading, sunbathing, napping, having a picnic, or like I did showing off my artwork. Not only there are all kinds of people visiting from outta town, there are locals enjoying the same stuff to do too. Pretty cool vibes and very friendly smiles. I would definitely come back and enjoy this beautiful park again.

As tourists, my family and I have been excited and curious to explore many popular things to do in Ashevile and this place popped up in the search. We were really glad that we came. This place is huge and we had a chance to explore only small part of it. The local artists are so talented. The next time when we spend our vacation in this city again, we'll definitely explore the rest of this amazing place ☺️

Great place to go. Very energetic and expiring. When you walk in various studios, you will see the artist and their friends actually doing their art. You can actually see the love for their art and the love for meeting new people. Many artists studios that I went in the artist was there creating the art right there. They will stop and talk to you. Walk you around the studio. Show you the prices of the art. Let you know what went into it and everything. It is a great experience just seeing people doing what they love to do. Moreover, just take a stroll and take your time. It's also calming for your soul. You will find very various food places in adult beverage spots to go to as well. You even find a record store which is also fun. You can park and you can walk. You'll probably have to do both, but one thing you will do is enjoy.

Fun place to spend a few hours including an antique car machine and a nice art gallery with a furniture gallery of local furniture upstairs. Had an amazing day at Asheville's Fun Depot!!! We had a great time. We did the ropes course was fun but a little difficult. Nothing against the company more to do with me not being in shape and some of the obstacles being a little more challenging. Also know that there are no side ropes so it's just the path you're walking on and the harness. You are able to hold onto the wire tour harness is secured to if you feel unsteady or uncomfortable. Once you are up there you have to continue to the end unless you're having a medical emergency. Once you make it to the top you must connect your harness to a line that goes straight down to get you down from the top of the course back to the ground....which was unsettling for me. The zip line was fantastic!!! There are a bunch of things to do here from games to go carts. We played games for tickets like skiball, Big Buck Hunt, etc. We did the 4D ride which was fun. We did both indoor and outdoor go carts and had a blast. Bumper cars had me laughing like a kid again. We had so much fun we went from 11am to around 2pm and came back on our same day pass at around 7 or 8 pm until they closed. Can't wait to go back. This place was worth every penny.

Electric indoor carts, gas outdoor carts, laser tag, mini bowling, rock wall, super nice indoor mini golf and more arcade games than I can count. Has a really good food and drink assortment. Super fun place, weather outside was rainy and it was a great place to be for the day!

money pit. we had our 12 year old with us and she was bored in 30 mins. cool for the area I guess, but definitely for younger kids. also the prizes from tickets look like the toy section in a dollar store

I loved the music. But waiting on kids for 4 and a half hours was boring. A bar or games for adults would be cool. Lol. I've tried the laser tag and kids are too fast. And outdoor gocarts is cool but they were closed.

Tons of fun. The putt-putt course was challenging and very well maintained. We played a few arcade games and air hockey, which was nice. Staff was friendly and courteous.
Orlando F — Google review
I would give a 2 star but, the boys outside for the go-carts and the lazer tag made our unlimited passes worth it. The staff overall is AH-MAZING! However, there is only so much they can do given the products they are working with. We bought 6 unlimited passes and out of everything there, we did it all at least once except any arcade and video games. So the indoor track is cool but, not much to do except drive in circles and get stuck slowing down every so often due to the electric car getting overwhelmed or whatever, the indoor bumper cars once again same issue as the indoor go-carts. Rock wall, was nice for our little, little ones. The really cool ride film... it was AWESOME, for one movie. (It broke while we were waiting for our 2nd film to start... and out of like 12... we got to see 1 and ... done. That sucked.A lot. Then the indoor mini golf... man ... how can I say this? Shut. It. Down. Between the rocks in the holes in the dark blacklight portion and the balls getting stuck in random objects that they have setup as "hazards"... holes that just have carpet as "rough", I can go on but, I dont really want to re-live that catastrophe. So, on to the outdoor go-carts. We rode those about 8 times and gosh it was just overall freaking awesome. The guys were great, very attentive and overall made our evening. Thanks guys!!! So overall too expensive for the quality of what we got but, we had fun anyhow.

The Montford Park Players is a renowned Shakespearean company in North Carolina, performing at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre in the historic Montford neighborhood. With free weekend performances from May to October, they attract 18,000 theater-goers annually. While not all shows are suitable for kids, their Shakespeare in the Park is a hit with older teens and families. The outdoor theater provides a unique experience, with talented actors and ample space for picnicking.
The Montford Park players never disappoint. As a former player from back in the 70s, it is a glorious experience to see how far they’ve come. I believe taking in a live performance is an excellent way to spend your evening and support the arts in Asheville. I highly recommend catching their shows as often as you can.

First time there was thrilled with production of Richard II. Short preview of who’s who as well as synopsis in playbill helped to follow this historical drama. This is a summer favorite for our family. Even our young kids sit and listen to every word and seem to understand what is happening in the play. Highly recommend! Come 30 mins before the show starts to get a good seat. You can rent chairs in the front for $10/each or bring camp chairs or a blanket. Great ice cream concessions. The playbill is also a great place to advertise if you have a local business. We go to all the plays each season- each one is unique!

This was our most amazing surprise during our Asheville trip! The park is in the back of a residential neighborhood and you might think you're lost, but go! We didn't expect much but were blown away by the super talented actors and lovely venue. If you find yourself in Asheville you must go see this hidden gem. If you live in the area and have not been here, you are not doing it right. I will not miss an opportunity to see another performance here when I'm anywhere near the Asheville area. Go get you some modern culture!
Rob M — Google review
Brava!! A detailed review, plus nine juicy tips on how to make the most of your experience. We’ve been going here for several years, first with our young children, then they were teens and now as empty-nesters. We have never had an experience that was not delightful. Of course, the quality of the shows varied, depending on actor, director etc., but we have never seen a show that was bad. We’ve seen shows they were good, shows that were great, and shows that were excellent! Bonus that several people we know in the community are actors, directors, and writers in various shows. From my son’s high school English teacher to neighbors and colleagues and friends, it’s always fun to see friends represented on stage and behind the scenes! We also value and respect the interpretations of the shows. We’ve seen shows interpreted in very modern takes, very southern takes, etc. all delightful. Tips: 1. if the show is either opening night or closing night, I would recommend going early. Parking is very very very difficult, and if you go early, you have a better chance to park! 2. Most of the shows have wonderful actors that you can very clearly hear, but there are a few actor’s voices that are softer. I would suggest sitting central to the stage and upfront when possible. 3. Bring some cash to tip the players during halftime. I think they also accept Venmo now, so that would be fine, but there’s nothing like throwing a bunch of cash in the bucket! Remember, this is a nonprofit! 4. You can bring your own chairs and set up a picnic and bring wine and food and a blanket. (I’ve seen people literally bring in fine China and linen tablecloths). Or…. If you don’t feel like lugging your own chairs, you can pay a small fee and have some chairs reserved for you. They are Adirondack and they are very comfortable. They will have your names on them when you arrive. They are upfront in the first five or six rows. Reserve these chairs on their website. 5. Either put on bug spray beforehand, or bring a little bug spray with you. Also, bring a blanket. The Asheville mountain nights tend to cool off in the evening. 6. Hop up right away if you need to go to the bathroom right as intermission starts, or there will be a long line for the ladies room! 7. Even though you can bring your own food, check out the local vendors, they have liquor flavored ice cream, and all sorts of wonderful other local vendors! 8. Please remember, this is a live performance. While dogs are welcome, and certainly children are encouraged, I’ve seen children sit in a different row from their parents and talk loudly through the whole show. I’ve also seen dogs wander over to somebody’s area and eat out of a neighbor’s basket. Just be mindful of other folks; even though it outside and feels like things can be a bit more free-range, please do respect the fact that it is live theater. 9. Don’t forget to look up at the night sky and enjoy the lightning bugs!

Carrier Park, located in West Asheville, is a 32-acre multiuse park offering a variety of sports facilities and recreational activities. It was formerly known as the Asheville Motor Speedway but has been transformed into a versatile park with amenities such as a velodrome bicycle track, roller hockey skating rink, sand volleyball courts, basketball courts, and lawn bowling. The park also features walking trails that provide beautiful views of the French Broad River and interpretive trails that navigate the wetlands.
it's a very peaceful park. i take my dog here daily, and people are always really sweet when we walk by them. it has outlets under a pavilion, so that's pretty convenient. beautiful scenery too!

The playground itself is great, but getting to it isn't easy or clearly defined. To access it, you have to either find an unlocked/opened gate or enter using the stairs/ramp, as the whole area is fenced off. It's a decent walk from both parking lots, which makes other playgrounds far more convenient with young kids... unless, of course, you plan to run laps while you let your kids play. Sadly, I don't suspect we'll be back with our young kids, but will opt to visit other, more easily accessible playgrounds.

Great walking trails. This has access to a beautiful part of the greenway trail depending what direction you go. Lots of amenities here and plenty of parking. Family friendly and great picnic spots away from the crowds. Really worth checking it out. We just hiked through and stopped for awhile to admire the park while we were on the greenway.

This is a great park right off of the interstate. The inner track is pretty unique and let's people really push themselves. There are other paths to follow as well outside of the circuit for walkers, skateboards, and roller blades. There is also a playground, basketball court, beach volleyball, and a hockey arena for those who are looking for fun. Great for all ages.

What an amazing Park! I actually just stumbled across it while I was heading to the hospital after getting rear-ended on the highway. On the way back I stopped to check it out. They were tons of people they're doing all kinds of things. They have basketball courts, volleyball, Open Fields and in the middle there was a large circular track that looked something directly out of the Olympics. There were people bike riding, cycling and running. They also had an outdoor hockey rink that the local North Carolina roller derby team I was practicing, which was very cool to watch. Saw people dance roller skating just all kinds of stuff. There was even a little race car Memorial here as well. If I lived in the area I could see me hanging out here every weekend. Then it's based right on the side of a river which just maybe a half a mile down the road was a inner tube and kayak place you could rent to go into the river. Definitely a very cool place!

Let me tell you something this park right here is a whole different place. It has so much to offer a roller skating rink a large track to walk or cycling and an amazing kids play ground for big kids and little ones they have 2 concted basketball courts. They also have 2 sand valley ball courts as well as large areas of open Grass fields and that's just in the main play are they also have miles of Trails that run along the water and are just so well maintained what a Beautiful place for the community we are from out of town and you could spend at least 1 whole day exploring all the things they have here so happy we stumbled apon it. My favorite part is its also completely wheelchair accessible. Felt very family friendly. They have 2 Porta pottys that were well maintained.

Nestled in the heart of Asheville, the Asheville Museum of History is a treasure trove for anyone eager to delve into the rich tapestry of Western North Carolina's past. Housed in the beautifully restored Smith-McDowell House, which dates back to the 1840s, this museum stands as Asheville's oldest surviving structure and offers an intriguing glimpse into local history.
A wonderful little museum with lots of history of Asheville. This should be a must see on your stops in town.

First brick building in the county at the time it was built. The rifle that killed more than 200 Indigenous Humans is displayed in a glass case in the main hall. 😳 (it hurt my feelings to hear that 💔 😪) The rooms that had furniture and set up with period pieces has a better feel to it. The smell of plastic products was intense. The solarium was the best spot but it needs more plants 🪴 in it. I learned new things, so it was a good day.
Ronda B — Google review
Go into this museum knowing what to expect, the entire history of western North Carolina. If that does not interest you this museum is not for you. The front desk receptionist was wonderful and you could tell she cared about the history. I did not care for the wordiness of the exhibits as much as I did the artifacts on display, which showcased life in the mountains in the early days, when everything was rough and tough.
Tevin C — Google review

Had a great time performing in this quaint (60 seats) black box for Asheville Fringe. The staff is so kind. Grab a beverage and a little snack and enjoy the show!

The Magnetic Theatre is a hidden gem in Asheville, North Carolina. It's a small, intimate space that showcases some of the best theater in the region. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the performers are always top-notch. I recently had the pleasure of seeing a production of "Splatter" at the Magnetic Theatre, and I was blown away. The show was hilarious, bloody, and a great time. The cast was absolutely superb, and the direction was spot-on. After the show, I had the opportunity to chat with some of the staff and performers. They were all so friendly and down-to-earth. It was clear that they are passionate about theater and that they love creating a positive and inclusive environment for their audiences. I highly recommend the Magnetic Theatre to anyone who loves theater or who is looking for a unique and memorable experience. The staff and performers are truly amazing, and the shows are always top-notch.

A wonderful theatre. Brings memories of a small group of talented people sharing their passion for the art. First time visit and we were amazed. Great play incredible acting and a very nice way to spend a few hours being entertained.

I laughed so hard that my face hurt! The show we saw was full of talented actors, and so much creativity! I have no idea who thought up all of the stage props oh, but we saw airplanes, high speed chase, and so much more! Guaranteed fun as long as you have a good sense of humor!

Wonderful relatively small community theatre hosting huge talent and sensibility. We just saw Washington Place. David Brendan Hopes' story about the imagined lives of some of the young women who perished in the 1911 Triangle Garment Company fire in NYC. Beautifully done. I would go see it again just to try to take it all in. Don't miss it!

The Shorthand Job This funny and poignant show was another example of the artistic slice of life once again brilliantly presented by The Magnetic Theatre and it’s wonderful troop of creatives. The impressive portrayal of the main characters (which were playwrights of the show) lended itself to portray an idea of alternative lifestyles that many think about, but often no one talks about. Jamie Knox and George Awad were perfect as the married couple going through what all too many of us who have been married for any length of time have been through: the joys, the doubts, the ups and the downs, honest, raw, and real; they made it all delightful and very punny. Delina Hensley played the role of Becky like no other could, her subtlety and quirkiness added so much to the humor. The Alexa voice (Christine Caldemeyer) was very well done, as was the set design and sound effects. Everything was spot on. Bravo TMT, under the direction of co-artistic directors Katie Jones and Jess Johnson, well done! I enjoyed this show with full belly laughs out loud. Thought provoking and very funny. A short run so, see it if you can!

Nice and clean park. Part of the playground was off limits but the majority of it was open. I saw paddle boats for rent too. There are also structures in the shade where you can hang hammocks. There are benches and covered picnic tables as well. Overall, a lovely park.

I took sailing lessons from the Asheville Sailing Club here and have been hooked ever since. It’s a small lake but beautiful, I also come out here with my kayak. Great place to bring kids.
Jessica W — Google review
Beautiful little park! Pier, boat rentals, large playground, beautiful views (unfortunately there is a power plant across from the lake that is an eyesore but otherwise nice views.

Have always enjoyed going to Lake Julian. I grew up in the area, so I have been going here for years. TCRoberson usually has an alumni picnic here annually. The nature with the squirrels, geese, ducks, the scenery looking out over the lake. They have fishing, canoes, peddle boats, and offer sailing classes, etc. Playground for kids and sheds and picnic tables throughout. They also have 4th of July fireworks, which I have never seen due to them booking in advance sometimes for years ahead of time.

A beautiful place to spend a day or an hour, bring your dog and have fun. Our dog loved it also.

Gorgeous place! Lots to do there, plenty of parking, places to grill, playground equipment, and more! Looks like they do rowing on the lake! Amazing!

Can't even tell the amount of times I visited this place. My six weeks stay is coming to an end and will certainly miss my daily walks at this park. Until we meet again. See you next Summer, God's willing.

Winery
The Biltmore Estate Winery, located within the prestigious Biltmore Estate, offers a historic winery and vineyards with tours and complimentary tastings. A visit to this renowned estate is a must for first-time travelers to Asheville. The winery, nestled in the serene Antler Village, provides guests with an opportunity to indulge in handcrafted wines through a complimentary tasting at the Tasting Room.
The most visited winery in the US. Or world. Cannot remember. But when you get a ticker to the winery when you tour the Biltmore Estate, no wonder why! The line for free tasting was super long so we went to the wine bar. The servers were fun and informational and helpful. We enjoyed the wine and atmosphere and bought two bottles to take with us. A great way to end the day at the Biltmore.
Megan M — Google review
A beautiful and atmospheric place. The winery is part of the legendary Biltmore Estate, so the experience starts long before the tasting itself. The interiors are elegant, the grounds are stunning, and the service is well-organized. The wine tasting was enjoyable with a wide selection and attentive staff. You come here not only for the wine, but for the history and overall atmosphere. Yes, the prices are on the higher side and it can get crowded in peak season, but overall it’s absolutely worth it.
Maksim S — Google review
I recommend trying Uncorked Wine Tasting, a private experience that allows you to skip the line. It costs $20 per person and is definitely worth it! We enjoyed sampling five different wines of our choice in a relaxed setting, with no others around and no rush. Ramon is the ideal wine guide!
Anastasiia K — Google review
The wine tasting at Biltmore Winery was a wonderful experience! The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, and the variety of wines offered was impressive. One standout for me was the Chenin Blanc—it was absolutely fantastic! Light, crisp, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was elegant but relaxed, making it easy to enjoy and learn about the wines. A must-do if you’re visiting the estate!
Niki G — Google review
Even at the end of the day, when the employees have likely had their fill of tourists, the staff are still smiling and gracious. This is a review from a local (North Asheville) who is a season’s passholder. The winery is a wonderful (and well-organized) part of Biltmore. This is really a generous tasting, with five pores, and often something a little extra if they have something special going on. For example, last time we were there, they let us taste a special white and a special red. They are always rotating special wines in and out of the collection. Pro tip: We had always entered the winery from an entrance to the shop, and, just recently, after all these years, discovered the winery entrance that leads through the tunnel with the twinkling lights. What a treat! It’s been unseasonably hot in Asheville, and it was so nice to walk into this cool tunnel with the twinkling lights and feel the darkness of the earth and the coolness, and then at the end of the tunnel… Voilà! There’s a wine tasting! We became season passholders so that we could go picnicking and walking and enjoy the grounds and the gardens and then a Chihuly exhibit came along and that was lovely to see as well. Our kids loved running around the gardens. Lately, we renew the passes when friends come to town and they want to go to the Biltmore for Christmas or just to tour it, and it makes sense for us to renew it to then get discounts because we all want to go together! Then we forget about coming to the Biltmore for a while until someone is visiting and we think “Gee, this is actually a really beautiful place with a beautiful gardens” and then we start going on a regular basis, and it’s so nice to be able to go for a free wine tasting each time we visit! After the tour, there’s an opportunity to buy the wine in the wine shop (the large, actually very large, wine shop). I do love that they have trinkets and some local pottery and glasses and… Did I mention it was a very very large wine shop? Are things a bit overpriced in the wine shop? potentially. Because it is all branded with Biltmore, but we get a discount since we are season pass holders. I recently took my daughter, and it was so fun to taste the wine with her and to enjoy this experience. In the past, we took her as a child, and we would picnic with local friends and several of our friends had horses they boarded there etc., but she was never old enough to go to the wine tasting, so it was so fun for her to visit from college and to bring her back to Biltmore, but for a more adult experience! She felt very sophisticated. And again, Our server was super patient, even though we were clearly her last group of the day. I’ve had friends that work there, and I know it’s difficult standing on your feet all day and the demands of working at Biltmore can be big. So, I appreciate the smiles and sweetness and they never rush me, no matter how late I am, because, frankly, by the time my workday is done, I get to the Biltmore winery just as they are closing. Thanks to everyone at the winery for their patience! I don’t take wine tasting too seriously; I lived in San Francisco for many years, and learned not to take it seriously in Sonoma, ironically, but I also hear our server having to navigate some folks from out of the town or out of the country and they are a bit snobby and/or confused and/or demanding. We always leave a nice tip. Please consider leaving a tip!

I love the winery and the rotation of the wines they offered to the guests. I've been many times. My only feedback is to get the coolers working better so the temperature of the wines are better on the pours. Any good wine person knows that makes a difference in the taste. Same thing at the wine bar. I had to return a glass that was literally warm and it was a rosé. This wasn't the first time this has happened which is why I'm bringing it forward in the review.
Christine W — Google review
I've visited the Biltmore many times, but have never taken the time to stop into the winery. They are strict about having a physical ID to sample the wine. My partner forgot his, but he was a good sport about "sampling" their selection of sparkling grape juice. It may be a bit boring for kids, but the bottomless sparkling grape juice and oyster crackers may be enough to satisfy them. The vibe was great, especially walking through the tunnels and getting to read about the history. This is the perfect place to escape on a hot summer day!
Lina R — Google review
The entire experience of Biltmore was fantastic. But Maggie at the creamery knocked it out of the ballpark with customer service!!!! Berry tart warmed with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in separate containers for two friends. She was a camp and we appreciated her willingness to accommodate. Thank you Maggie!

If you're looking to uncover the hidden mysteries of Asheville, look no further than Haunted Asheville Ghost Tours, the city's oldest and original ghost tour. This captivating experience is led by Joshua P. Warren, a seasoned paranormal expert who guides you through downtown's eeriest locations while sharing chilling tales from the city’s dark past. As you stroll through these haunted streets, you'll not only hear spine-tingling stories but also gain insight into Asheville's rich history that often goes unnoticed amidst its stunning beauty.
We had a wonderful experience with Brian. He was funny and very knowledgeable. I would recommend enlarged printed photos of all the pictures discussed am to show in real time, that we could have seen at the end of his tour but didn’t because it was so cold outside.

Got tickets for this on a whim and didn’t really know what to expect. It’s a walking tour of the city with interesting and knowledgeable information. One person took a picture and it seemed to have caught an orb in a window, so that alone was worth it! Tour guide was funny and insightful about the city. Overall an awesome experience!!
D — Google review
We enjoyed the tour very much! And Tad was amazing as our guide. We even went back and revisited the sites during the day because the old structures we learned about were photo-worthy in sunlight.

Bring your walking shoes! I saw several ladies wearing heels, and boys did I pity them. You'll do a fair amount of walking on this 90 minute tour, and it's all outdoors, so dress accordingly. As for the tour itself, our guide was knowledgeable and entertaining, although I will say I felt the energy in the crowd waning a bit towards the end. We had a BIG group and you never know what folks are expecting on these tours
Kevan H — Google review
Although the No Kings Protest was going on. Our guide was professional and made sure we avoided the big crowds at certain places. Avoiding protestors totally wasn't possible, but everybody was peaceful and respectful. The tour itself was great. We did have a drunk onlooker watching and following the group to listen to the tour and the guide addressed it very professionally. Especially since he didn't pay for the tour and we all did. Otherwise it was great experience and heard some great history about downtown Asheville.
Sarah S — Google review
We did the walk though tour and It was awesome. Our tour guide was the greatest. Not only do you get stories of paranormal activities but also back stories and also you learn about some really cool history of Asheville. I would definitely go back again to do another tour. I added some pictures of the places you're told about on the tour.

“Find a job you enjoy doing, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” - Mark Twain. This sums up Brian and the Ashville Ghost Tours.... He was an awesome tour guide. I was in the group with the other 5 husbands who had no interest in a ghost tour and their 5 wives that drug them along and honestly, it was a great tour. It was just long enough, Brian was passionate about what he does and it showed. Brian was funny, he had a great presence and has clearly done this at least once. The sites were cool, it was even cooler to visit the town the next day and see the same sites in the daylight and be able to recall the tour and stories. The website DOES look like it was created by an elementary school student using Word, it DOES make you think that you just sent money to a scammer and it DOES make you wonder if you are about to get mugged when you arrive but the tour is legit. Brian actually stood there and called the participants that weren't there before he started to make sure he didn't leave anyone behind.
Lucius C — Google review
Brian was an EXCELLENT tour guide!! Loved having someone who was so knowledgeable not only about the history of Asheville but the spooky side also! Would for sure recommend him if you’re in the area!
