Saiundo Matsue Main Store is a renowned Japanese sweets shop in Matsue City, Shimane Prefecture. The store offers an exclusive delicacy called 'Fukumochi Kiwi,' a sweet treat consisting of fresh cream, sweet bean paste, and kiwi covered with gyuhi. Visitors can also enjoy cold matcha alongside this delectable dessert. The store boasts an extensive display of various Japanese sweets, attracting tea enthusiasts and casual visitors alike.
I stopped by when I was traveling to Shimane with a friend. We had Japanese sweets and tea at the tea house and were very happy to be able to taste Japanese tradition and culture. I was able to talk directly with the craftsman, which made me more interested in "Saiundo". I would like to use the online store to buy gifts for my parents as well.

Authentic traditional Japanese confectionery. Besides “若草”, which is the most renowned item of the store, I’d recommend “春秋”, “伯耆坊” and seasonal wagashi as well. You’ll never get enough of the unique and delicate taste each product owns.

(Translated by Google) I visited because I wanted a confectionery stamp. I also bought my second confectionery stamp book. The store was beautiful, and the products were traditional and attractive. The staff were very polite. I also bought a cute tote bag made to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the store's founding. I thought it would be nice to have the store's name written underneath the picture. Personally, I liked the red bean paste butter manju. I forgot to take a photo of the store... (Translated by Google) You will be impressed by the exquisite craftsmanship and deliciousness of the Japanese sweets. In the main store, you can enjoy a set of assorted Japanese sweets and a drink🍵 called the Modern Master Craftsman Plate, and shaved ice🍧 in the summer. There are tables and counter seats on the first floor, and table seats in the large space on the second floor. The collection of sugar confectionery artworks on display on the second floor is also impressive!

(Translated by Google) There are many famous Japanese sweets shops in Matsue, which is famous for its tea ceremony, but what makes this shop special is that it offers sweets with a modern sensibility. We have created a variety of types, such as ``Wakakusa'', which is associated with Lord Fumai, with the flavor of mugwort, and yokan made into sticks. I feel that they have a strong desire to let customers enjoy the diversity of Japanese sweets. However, I am having trouble deciding which purchase to make. There is a cafe space on the second floor, but you can order and pay at the counter on the first floor. Matcha is also available from the local Senchaso ``Satsukuru'', as well as other varieties such as hojicha. What is especially noteworthy is that there is a space in one corner of the store where you can watch the Japanese sweets artisans demonstrating from outside. On this day, in addition to seasonal sweets, fresh sweets featuring characters from the Osaka Expo were on display. Credit cards and PayPay can be used.

Coffee shop
Café Kiharu offers an authentic Japanese experience with its wagashi, traditional sweets that are best enjoyed with bitter matcha tea. The serene setting provides a beautiful view of the garden, making it a perfect place to relax and immerse yourself in Japanese culture. The café is known for its excellent service and elegant facilities, making it an ideal spot to visit with family and friends. It's a quiet and pleasant place to unwind while indulging in delicious desserts.
A cafe inside the Matsue History Museum. You don't need to have a museum ticket but you need to put your shoes in the entrance lockers. The menu is simple, mainly matcha and Japanese sweets. The place has tatami mats and has a great garden view. Their cold matcha drink saved me from the blistering heat last summer, and the place was so secluded I even had the whole place to myself at one point.

One of my best Japanese cultural Immersions through tea drinking held here. Just a beautiful space with peace and tranquility. Make sure you bring your family and friends. Excellent service from staff. Elegant facilities too!

Experience wagashi (Japanese sweets) the way they're supposed to be eaten. On their own, they're overly sweet, but paired with bitter macha tea, it comes together quite nicely. You can enjoy a nice view of the garden while enjoying the food and drink.

When you sit in the spacious tatami room, you can see Matsue Castle in the distance in the garden that spreads out before you. When you want to eat something sweet... It was a great way to relax during your trip and I was very satisfied!

(Translated by Google) A coffee room inside the Matsue History Museum that I stopped by during my trip. Please take off your shoes at the entrance of the history museum. We had a relaxing time looking out at the beautiful garden. I chose the matcha and Japanese sweets set. The lily of the valley and tulip sweets were cute and tasted very delicious. I was a little disappointed that I couldn't see the craftsmen's demonstration as they were on hiatus for a while, and that I couldn't choose the sweets in the set at random. Matsue is a nice place and I would like to go there again, but this coffee shop is also a place I would like to visit again. (Translated by Google) I was in a wheelchair, but I was able to relax at the table. The garden was difficult to see from the table. If you're wheelchair accessible, there's a ramp leading to the tatami room, allowing you to view the garden directly in front of you. You can also reserve a seat. The staff were very friendly and attentive, and I really appreciated their thoughtfulness. The desserts were delicious; the photo shows the Moon Rabbit Matcha Jelly. You can add more Japanese sweets to the matcha Japanese sweets set for an additional 500 yen. Izumo No Kuni Men-ya is a must-visit shop located in Izumo Airport, perfect for ending your trip to Shimane. The Susanoo Ramen, inspired by the mythological figure Susanoo, features miso ramen with local miso and chin-kamaboko representing Susanoo's sword. The rich and satisfying flavor of the ramen soup pairs perfectly with the unique texture of Ago-kamaboko. Customers also appreciate the smoking room available at the restaurant.
(Translated by Google) Before departing on my evening flight, I ordered the Susanoo Ramen + draft beer set (1,500 yen). The draft beer was ice-cold from the mug, with a little foam, which was pretty good. Susanoo Ramen is made from a blend of locally produced miso and koji, and the soup is rich and delicious. The noodles are nothing special, but they go well with the soup. I haven't ordered any other dishes, so I don't know, but this set is just right for filling your stomach before boarding.

(Translated by Google) ``Izumo no Kuni Menya Izumo Enmusubi Airport Branch'' is a soba restaurant that opened in 2015 and operates in a corner of the third floor of Izumo Enmusubi Airport. This restaurant is operated by Media Cooking Service Co., Ltd., which operates stores near Izumo Taisha Shrine and within Izumo City Station. This time, I visited on a Monday at 10:20 in order to use it before my noon flight. I thought I would have one last Izumo soba before leaving Shimane, but I ended up with the ``Shimane Wagyu Donburi Set,'' which includes Shimane Wagyu bowl, Wariko soba, Shijimi soup, and other delicious Shimane dishes. I have never had a good experience eating at airports, but there is a saying that you should throw away the shame of your trip, so I ordered the ``Shimane Wagyu Donburi Set'' as my last meal in Shimane! It was served after about a 10 minute wait. When the food is served, the waiter doesn't wipe his hands properly, so the water droplets from his hands end up on his pants! At this point, the tension is dropping all at once lol The Shimane Wagyu bowl has three pieces of fluffy beef, and that's what it's all about. The beef is tender and fatty, and the sweet and spicy sauce makes the rice go well. Wariko soba...I just couldn't get enough of this. It was lukewarm, probably because I hadn't watered it properly, and the soba was lukewarm. The precious Izumo soba is ruined. The clam juice has a nice flavor from the clams, but I wonder if these clams really come from Lake Shinji...The flesh is small, and it's completely different from the Lake Shinji clams I ate the other day. After all, airport food is at this level... However, the neighboring Okuizumo Soba Restaurant Ippuku serves Izumo soba of a decent quality. From next time onwards, I think Ichifuku will be the only one. We had planned to get some dango to go, but the dining area seemed calm, so we decided to use the cafe instead. Here's what we had: ・Uji Ice Kintoki Shaved Ice @ 880 yen →The matcha syrup, matcha ice cream, and the bean paste in the middle of the ice were all delicious with a strong flavor. I was also happy that the bottom half of the shaved ice was also covered in matcha syrup. ・Fumaikou (Dango) @ 147 yen →The whipped matcha bean paste was cute and delicious. ・Mango (Dango) @ 143 yen →The mango syrup was refreshing and sweet. ・Matcha Latte @ 550 yen →It was a delicious matcha latte with a bitter taste of matcha. Restaurant
Tempura & Seafood Komefuku (Shamine Matsue Store) is a restaurant located in a station facility, making it convenient for solo customers and groups alike. The menu offers a variety of sets featuring local seafood from Lake Shinji, Nakaumi Lagoon, and the Sea of Japan, along with organic vegetables. In addition to tempura and seafood options, they also serve sushi, sashimi, Japanese beef sets, and rice dishes.
They have the Shimane prefecture specialties, warigo soba and shijimi jiru clam soup! No water provided. Excellent Beatles soundtrack background.

We entered the restaurant at 11:15am, but the lunch set we'd like to order had already been sold out. The food tasted good & the ambience is pleasant.

Delicious seafood, decent portions and quick service. Shinji lake clam soup was very tasty.
Rebecca M — Google review
Probably one of the most impressive railway station restaurant that I have seen so far. During lunch, we listened to an extensive selection of songs by the Beatles, which accompanied the meal perfectly.
Sergei D — Google review
Fantastic value at lunchtime; the menu actually made the meals look *smaller* than they were, making my decision to upsize the rice a dangerous one. The chicken tempura came with eight or nine crispy nuggets and the shrimp in the seafood bowl were hiding several more items, including a whole egg with a runny center.

Nestled in the charming city of Matsue, Pâtisserie Galette is a delightful haven for dessert lovers. Known for its exceptional quality and affordable prices, this pastry shop offers an array of delectable treats that won't break the bank—perfect for students and sweet enthusiasts alike! The atmosphere is inviting and vibrant, often bustling with customers eager to indulge in their favorite confections. From classic school cheese to unique matcha-flavored options, every bite promises satisfaction.
(Translated by Google) My favorite cake shop in Matsue! The cakes are not expensive, the taste is delicious, and the atmosphere of the shop is clean and makes you feel happy. It seems like there are always a lot of customers. After the cafe reopens, it's a good space to take a break! When you eat cake at a cafe, you get a discount on one item! I've been going there almost every week lately! Twice a week at most... After trying various cakes, The most delicious cake for me is... Mont Blanc! There are multiple types of Mont Blanc, The triangular Mont Blanc is the most delicious! The bottom is a tart, with about three layers of cream of different flavors. The strawberry parfait is photogenic and has a lot of volume 🍓The fresh cream is also delicious as can only be found at a cake shop. I felt it would be better if they reduced the amount of cream a little more and added vanilla ice cream. I thought it would be even better if the strawberry jam was spread out in multiple thin layers instead of just at the bottom. I also like Galette's island-sized tart. Since the ratio of cream is high, I think it would be good if the ratio of tart was increased a little more. Gakuen cheese is cheap and quite delicious! No complaints! What surprised me was Joto Pudding. I was surprised by how delicious it was beyond my imagination. This is a must-try.

There is also a small cafe seating area, however, it was closed at that time. All the cakes were delicious, and the mango pudding was fresh and bursting with flavour

It's worth 1000 yen!! ️The cream was not sweet and easy to eat, and when I took a bite, the aroma of black tea spread in my mouth. The sweet summer mousse in the photo has a refreshing taste and is recommended for summer 😃 Also, I went to pick up a cake after the shop had closed due to heavy snowfall, but I was very happy with the kind and courteous service. (Translated by Google) This is a cake shop I often go to when I want to buy a gift or when I feel like having a cake today. Everything is equally delicious. The tart dough of the tart cakes is also delicious. However, in the past they used to have more elaborate limited-time products and standard products, but recently the display case seems to be filled with the same standard cakes. The limited-time products are also the exact same as last year. With prices rising, it's rare to find a cake shop that can maintain its prices this much, so I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I would like to try cakes that the owner puts his heart and soul into, like in the old days. Recently, whenever I go, the display case is the same and there are many things that I know the taste of, so in that sense it's difficult to choose.

(Translated by Google) Gakuen Cheese, as well as the cakes and sweets, are delicious. However, it's best to check carefully before buying anything other than the plain Gakuen Cheese. Especially the matcha and pistachio. They're the same green, so I can't tell them apart lol. I don't like matcha, so I checked the flavor card over and over again, and when I picked pistachio, it was matcha lol. Two of them. I could have done with the other flavors, but matcha, which I don't like... I was shocked. And naturally, I couldn't eat the pistachio. By the way, the staff were restocking the flavors right in front of me, so I don't think customers were just randomly switching them around... Pâtisserie Cuire, located on the second floor, is a delightful spot that not only offers a variety of cakes but also features a cafe menu with light fare. The chef's specialty and seasonal ingredient-based tarts are among the most popular items. For instance, their strawberry tart made with homemade dough, raspberry sauce, and Amao strawberries strikes a perfect balance between sweetness and tartness.

桂月堂 天神町本店 is a delightful gem in Matsue, where the tradition of enjoying matcha alongside wagashi comes to life. This charming shop offers an array of exquisite confections that locals cherish as part of their daily routine. Visitors can indulge in treats like Usukokura and the renowned Wakakusa, which are celebrated for their rich flavors reminiscent of Kintsuba.
(Translated by Google) I bought it at Kobe Hankyu. Just as I was looking for a sweet to give to my aunt, I found a Shimane sweet that I had given to my aunt while we were having tea. I chose it for my aunt, and the 2nd to 4th time I bought it, I bought it for my family. What I liked was ``Mythical Moon'' (130 yen). It is shaped like a full moon and is made with Izumo ginger powder. The texture of agar is similar to Ogi yokan on the outside, with the crunchy texture of sugar crystals💛 The crispness here is the same as that of ``Usukokura.'' The shop staff recommends ``Beni Moyuru'' (200 yen). An elegant taste of white bean paste made with Beni Haruka sweet potato🍠 Three of Shimane's most famous confections, ``Wakakusa'', ``Usukokura'', and ``Izumo Zanmai'', were packaged in a box, making them perfect as gifts💯 ``Kuri Madoka'' (220 yen) is probably only available this season 🌰 If you get used to the strong flavors, you may find yourself missing the seasonal, light taste, but as the weather gets cooler, the taste of Wasanbon becomes fresher and I'm looking forward to enjoying it with hot tea. ``Matsuejo Monaka'' (190 yen) is an ordinary monaka, but you can enjoy the deliciousness of the bean paste. The staff at the shop told us the secret behind the elegant sweetness, saying, ``It's not because we use less sugar.'' ``Instant Shiruko'' (220 yen) has a long shelf life, so I plan to save it and enjoy it. (Translated by Google) I bought this at Matsue City's antenna shop. They also have a matcha version of Asashio. I bought this Kuroganemochi because I really wanted to try it after seeing the ingredients. I love brown sugar and walnuts, so I was hoping for something chewy, but it was firmer and drier than I expected. But the flavor was good, and the walnut granules went well with the brown sugar. It's also unusual but nice that it's coated with brown rice flour. I've had Asashio before, and the surface did have a drier impression. I thought that this might be a characteristic of this Japanese confectionery.

A madder-colored confectionery made of Asashio yokan containing rum raisins, layered with nishikidama flavored with figs, black Olympia (a type of grape), and wild grapes. The sweetness and sourness of Japanese and Western flavors overlapped and enhanced each other, making it extremely delicious. Saneido Teramachi Honten is a charming establishment renowned for its exquisite traditional sweets, crafted with care and skill that dates back to the feudal era. Among their specialties is the original hinodemae sweet, featuring layers of delicate peeled bean jam alongside seasonal Japanese confections. A must-try here is the Natsune no Sato, a delightful dried treat inspired by butterflies fluttering over fields of rape blossoms—its adorable appearance makes it almost too pretty to eat!

I hope I can have the opportunity to come to Songjiang again to taste the wagashi from this store. There are many shops selling sweets, which are essential for the tea ceremony, and many of them are large stores, making it difficult to choose what to buy. This shop is small and has a wide variety of items. However, there are multiple types of fresh sweets available, and many have a long shelf life. Flowers are decorated at the entrance, and wooden molds of baked sweets are also displayed, so you can choose in a calm manner. Tamatsukuri Grand Hotel Choseikaku is a serene hot spring hotel located in Matsue, offering a traditional ryokan experience with impeccable service. The hotel features three restaurants, a sauna, indoor and open-air bathhouses, and onsite massages for guests to indulge in relaxation.
Even now 4 years after we had first visited Japan and stayed at this Hotel it does remain among the best experiences we had in the country. The staff was extremely friendly, going far beyond what one would expect. We stayed here for a conference we attended in Matsue, and every day we would be brought to the train station and picked up from there by the very professional staff. Every day we received an overview on activities and highlights in the area, prepared for us by the English speaking manager. The food was very good, with a wide range of Japanese breakfast foods but also some European ones. The fresh Tamagoyaki every morning was a particular highlight. The Onsen were all very clean, inviting and relaxing. The rotation between the different Onsen was very nice and lead to a fresh experiences every day. The village itself is also worth a visit, with a picturesque stroll along the river, catching some of the plays.

\ Love this onsen hotel and all of lovely staffs / This is one of the real historical onsen ryokan hotel since 1802. ( in EDO era) They did renovating in the rooms and preparing for kids room ( playing areas). All of tasty food was used as locals which is so fresh and amazing ! Put beautiful jades into the hot spring ( onsen) looks so gorgeous that made my skin silky and smooth..!! . If you really wanna go and visit to this local hidden historical Japanese onsen ryokan place, must check it out ! . . NOTE and Attentions: ♨️ Please try to keep using cleaner in the rooms and onsen areas with your respective attitudes. All of places in Japan such as hotels, restaurants, even public toilets are required being kept clean at least by customers by themselves. If you try to follow these local Japanese manners, all of Japanese people are willing to be carrying about you and making your stay in Japan with memorable experiences amazed even more! 😊🌸 . If you are now debating which onsen hotels you are going to, I highly recommend you to book here: Tamatsukuri Ground hotel “Chosei Kaku”. Thank you for all of staffs and this amazing experience in Shimane as always! . ♨️🥰~♪

This is a beautifully quaint, quite traditional hotel. The onsens were just beautiful. The food was amazing. The location is breathtaking. For those like us who wanted a taste of Japanese culture this was just perfect. We were very well looked after by the English speaking manager. Really going above and beyond to make us feel at home and help us find our way. I can't imagine this happening anywhere else.

On December 27, 2014, my family of five from Hong Kong arrived late with our SUV at the hotel and the English speaking manager quickly arranged to serve us a full Japanese dinner. Then he invited us to watch the hotel's Saturday performance at 9.00 pm at the Hotel lobby. The lively folklore dance between good and evil with heavy Japanese percussion beats was most entertaining (I cut a video), and to my great surprise, the protagonist of the cast, when unmasked, was actually the hotel manager!
