The Regional Museum in Torun, housed in the medieval Old Town Hall complex, offers a glimpse into the city's rich history. The Gothic buildings stand as a testament to its former grandeur. Visitors can explore valuable collections within the museum and marvel at original interiors of the Cathedral of SS John the Baptist and John the Evangelist, St James Church, and St Mary's Church.
I visited here because of the towns world heritage status. I bought the musuem pass and visited all of them. This one is one of the most important one explaining a lot of the history etc. Built in the 13th century, the town hall was a symbol of Toruń’s importance as a major trading hub in the Hanseatic League. The museum features exhibitions on medieval art, local craftsmanship, and the life of Nicolaus Copernicus, who was born in Toruń.

This museum is much more of importance than it advertised itself. I was more than happy to ‘discover’ this place in Torun. Very nice are the paintings of all Polish Kings in the city hall, in order of their duties. Have a look to the doors of the 15th and 16th centuries. I love the arts on how the artist decorated the doors at the time. You shouldn’t miss the gothic exhibition on the ground floor, it shows very nice triptych from medieval times, collected from different places in Poland. Note Sept 2025: Extra exhibition on the top floor shows paintings of Stefan Gierowski
Michael S — Google review
25 zlotys for the tower, the museum is free on Wednesday. The best view of Torun is from the top of the tower, if you have a sunny day you can have some good photography. About the museum, the ground floor is about the history of the town and it’s quite good and entertaining, the first floor have some good historical paintings and artifacts from the town, the second floor is about a modern art and personally I didn’t like it. The tower is must for me and the museum only if it’s Wednesday. Staff speak English.
Sebastian G — Google review
The Regional Museum in Toruń is a must-visit, featuring a rich collection highlighting Toruń’s medieval past, Nicolaus Copernicus, and Gothic art. For an additional fee, you can climb the tower and enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the city.
Mateusz R — Google review
For centuries, this beautiful old town market square has been the heartbeat of the city's public life. Filled with numerous historical gems, it's a treasure trove for history enthusiasts. Fortunately, the town was spared the ravages of World War II, allowing visitors to admire its precious buildings that have been listed on the UNESCO heritage list. The square is vibrant, bustling with shops, restaurants, and various attractions, drawing tourists from all over the world. Everything is conveniently located near the Vistula River, making it an ideal spot for those seeking historical attractions and a relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Mateusz D — Google review
The Regional Museum in Toruń is a valuable cultural institution that offers a rich glimpse into the history of the region. The exhibits are well-curated, and the historic buildings add a unique atmosphere to the experience. However, some sections could benefit from clearer English translations for non-Polish-speaking visitors, as it would make the museum more accessible to international tourists. Additionally, the layout in a few areas feels a bit disjointed, making navigation through the exhibits occasionally confusing. Despite these minor issues, the museum remains an essential stop for anyone interested in Toruń’s fascinating history.
Roya S — Google review
The Old Town Hall in Toruń is one of the largest and most beautiful buildings of its kind in Europe, and it is part of the Old Town Complex, one of the best-preserved ensembles of Gothic residential architecture in Europe. The Town Hall is located in the heart of the historic Toruń Old Town, inscribed in 1997 on the UNESCO World Heritage List. Currently, the Old Town Hall serves as the main seat of the District Museum in Toruń. An unquestionable attraction is the open seven days a week observation terrace located at the top of a 40-meter tower, from which you can admire the picturesque panorama of the city, weather permitting. The view is beautiful, but the ticket prices, especially for the tower, are quite high. While the cost of admission for one person shouldn't be a problem, for a family, the amount becomes significant. On Wednesdays, admission to permanent exhibitions is free.
MIRELA G — Google review
Views are priceless! This is definitely one from top 10 in Torun from a must visit list. You can buy tickets online and it only take 2-3 minutes to climb through the stairs to the top. Stairs are quite narrow and steep so some might find it difficult.

The Teutonic Castle Ruins in Torun, Poland, offer a glimpse into medieval history. The castle was built in the mid-13th century and played a significant role in the conquest of Prussia. Destroyed during an uprising in 1454, it now stands as a testament to the region's tumultuous past. Surrounding the castle are defensive walls and towers that once formed a double-defense system for the Old Town, New City, and the castle itself.
These ruins were the highlight of my trip to Torun. It's remarkable to stand in a place that has so much history. Some areas are very well described and there are good descriptions of what the layout of the castle was. There is a whimsical haunted house in the gldungeon and a scale replica. Definitely a must do in Torun.
N M — Google review
This was a nice castle to visit in Toruń even if it is just ruins. I am a big fan of history and the history of the Teutonic knights is very interesting to me, so visiting these ruins was worth it. Unfortunately there is not too much to see here, but it is still worth it to see and learn more about the history of the Teutonic Order. I recommend this place for history lovers!
Tadeusz G — Google review
20 zlotys is a lot for what it is presented (and the audioguide is 5 zlotys more), you can get an idea about the ruins from outside. It’s not worth it unless you can read polish, at the time of my visit there were two exhibitions only in that language (it was about the history of the town and how people live there). If you wanna see a castle or the history of the Teutonic Order better going to Malbork
Sebastian G — Google review
Very nice historical site with good explanation about the time this castle was build. Unfortunately the most signs are only in local languages.
Wilhelm — Google review
Nice historical site, and very cool to see. Some of the signs weren’t in English, which was okay, but we couldn’t understand it. The underground exhibits were a little sketchy, and they used plastic mannequins that were a bit creepy. The remnants of the castle itself were cool to see.
Kat — Google review
Nice attraction if you happen to be in the city but honestly, nothing special...
Kyr R — Google review
Expensive, uninspiring, run down. The ruins are... ruins. Nothing special. The "exposition" is, to put it mildly, not what it used to be. Or at least I hope it was in a better shape. It just feels lazy. A mannequin with two left hands is just one example. Lights are on a 10 second timer so most of the time things are badly lit. And lights are flashing on and off all the time. Annoying. Don't spend your hard earned money here.

St. Jacob's Church is a stunning Gothic church located in the New City Market Square, towering over the area with its striking gabled tower. Built in the 14th century, it is considered one of Torun's most valuable architectural achievements. The basilica-plan church features a unique construction with lower aisles than the nave and employs a rare free-standing aisle buttress attached to the nave by a flying buttress.

Please be warned that when entering there is a gentleman who pushed for you to donate to keep the upkeep of the church but this is entirely optional. When I went it was not busy at all. I was able to admire the delight of the church and the amount of gold visible inside.
Vin C — Google review
Construction of this church started in 1309, on the Teutonic Order’s initiative and it is presumed to be the most beautiful of all Toruń’s churches. It has a unique basilica construction, system of straining arches and its inside is decorated with gothic paintings and baroque and rococo altars. Please pay attention to a crucifix presenting Christ crucified on a Tree of Life is of an outstanding value.

The Center for Modernity Mill of Knowledge in Torun, Poland is a sleek and contemporary museum with interactive exhibits suitable for both kids and adults. It offers educational workshops on various subjects such as mathematics, ecology, and space. The staff is known to be helpful and proficient in English. While the lack of a cafeteria beyond the ticket gates may be inconvenient for some visitors, the museum's six floors are filled with fantastic interactive galleries that make it an excellent destination for families.
One of the best prepared places for children's Nd adults alike tackling both maths, ecology and space alike. The staff is very helpful and they speak good English. The only drawback is there is no cafeteria beyond the ticket gates, which makes it a drag if you need to rest in your three hour visiting slot.

Sullen, unfriendly cashier who gave no instructions. Exhibits are somewh interesting but old and most things with a screen don't work. Velcro worn or broken on Smartphone exhibit. Small children won't notice and it's entertaining enough but this place clearly doesn't have the love or investment from anyone. There are far far better science museums in Europe, this one is pretty poor.

The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Torun is a stunning historical site that offers visitors a glimpse into the city's rich past. The church, dating back to the early 1500s, boasts an ornate interior with beautiful stained glass windows. Despite being located in a wooded area and undergoing repairs, the church's beauty shines through. Visitors can admire well-preserved details from centuries ago and experience the serene atmosphere for prayer and meditation.
Beautiful gothic church built by Franciscans as part of a friary complex that doesn’t exist anymore. The building has no tower following the Franciscan’s tules, but rather three small fléches facing the Old Town market square. The church was later taken by protestants, and now belongs to the catholics again.
JR S — Google review
I’ve only seen The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary from the outside, but it was beautiful to behold. The architecture fits perfectly with the city’s charm, standing out yet blending seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Its design adds a unique touch to the area, making it an inviting landmark worth to check.

The glass windows (picutures below) can be found in the museum of gothic nearby. St. Mary's Church, a remarkable Gothic structure built by the Franciscans in the late 13th century, boasts an austere exterior that belies its opulent interior. The church features tall stained-glass windows, intricate painted Gothic vaulting, and a prominent golden altarpiece. Visitors can join a specialized walking tour to explore Torun's best sites including St. Mary's Church and learn about its history from knowledgeable guides.

The post-Franciscan Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was erected in the second half of the 14th century. It is one of the most outstanding artistic and architectural achievements of sacral architecture in Poland. In the 14th century it was the highest hall church in Central Europe with the naves and aisles 26.8 metre high.

His design skills and sense of aesthetics combined history with modernity, creating a unique and functional space. For us, it was not only a refreshment of the interior, but also a journey through time and style. I highly recommend this person to everyone who is looking for an interior designer with passion and talent! Serdecznie polecam tę osobę wszystkim, którzy szukają projektanta wnętrz z pasją i talentem!"
