Tra Su Cajuput Forest, located in An Giang Province, is a vast 800-hectare mangrove landscape that serves as a sanctuary for numerous bird species. Visitors can explore the area by small boat, navigating through narrow channels surrounded by gnarled cajuput trees. The forest is home to a diverse range of colorful birds and other wildlife such as storks, herons, bats, snakes, and turtles.
Incredible place. Apparently it was re-wilded in the 1980s and protected since 2004. Absolutely magical. The biodiversity and wildlife is amazing. The boat trips (one gentle canoe) and two long tail boat trips were fantastic. I could have spent all day just gently floating by. We were super lucky as it was really quiet. We only saw 2 other tourists on the delta that day highly recommend a visit.

Tra Su Cajuput Forest is absolutely a must-visit destination. We booked our trip through our hotel in Chau Doc, which offered a convenient all-inclusive package including tickets and transportation. This was essential because the forest is quite remote—definitely not a place you want to navigate on your own. Our driver took us there, waited patiently during our visit, and brought us back to the hotel, making the whole experience stress-free and seamless. The entrance tickets were included in the package, so there were no hidden costs. The highlight of the visit is undoubtedly the boat ride through the serene waterways of the forest, which is part of the ticket price—no extra fees. The lush greenery, peaceful atmosphere, and unique landscape make Tra Su Cajuput Forest a truly mesmerizing and unforgettable experience. Highly recommended! PS: Do not forget your mosquito repellent.

Beautiful forest with many birds and plants. We bought a combo ticket for 230K that included entry, paddle boat and motor boat. I really enjoyed how peaceful the paddle boat was. The motor boat was a little disappointing - rushed straight through the forest without taking any time to appreciate it. Many other boats were stopped for a long time to get pictures but we just zoomed straight past. They drop you to another part of the forest to explore and then take you back which was nice though. The entry point we put into maps was Thốt Nốt Sữa (Trà Sư) which had free motorbike parking. Definitely recommend going early in the morning.

If you’re looking for a place that perfectly captures Vietnam’s diverse forests and stunning natural beauty, this spot is an absolute must-visit. The entrance ticket costs 120,000 VND, with optional rides that make the experience even more memorable: a motorboat ride for 70,000 VND (round trip) and a rowing boat for another 70,000 VND (round trip). I highly recommend trying both! The motorboat takes you deep into the heart of the forest, where you can admire the vast scenery and peaceful atmosphere. Then, switch to the rowing boat — it glides through narrow forest paths, offering a closer, more intimate view of the surroundings. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a few birds up close! 🐦 On top of that, don’t miss the observation tower — the ticket costs only 5,000 VND, and it’s absolutely worth it! From the top (about five to six stories high), you’ll get a panoramic view of the forest stretching endlessly beneath you — a breathtaking sight you shouldn’t miss. 🌳✨ And here’s a fun bonus: the pigeons here are surprisingly friendly! You can buy a small pack of dried seeds for just 10,000 VND to feed them — some will even perch on your arms to grab a snack. It’s such a wholesome experience, and if you’re curious, check out my video below for a better look at the moment! 🎥✨ The staff here are super friendly, too. You’ll also find a few small souvenir stalls selling charming keepsakes like keychains, traditional Vietnamese costumes, and other handmade items — all at very affordable prices. I even got myself a mini coconut-leaf fan for just 40,000 VND

Visiting Tra Su Cajuput Forest in An Giang was an unforgettable experience that brought you closer to the peaceful beauty of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta. This ecotourism destination is a perfect escape from the busy city life, offering a refreshing connection with nature and wildlife. You will floated through the green canals on a small boat, you was surrounded by a stunning carpet of water lilies and duckweed, with tall cajuput trees forming a natural canopy overhead. The sound of birds and the cool breeze made the journey feel magical. It was fascinating to see so many species of birds and other animals living freely in this natural sanctuary. It was especially beautiful at sunrise and sunset when the soft golden light reflected on the water.

Lò bánh bò thốt nốt út quắn

Bakery
Lò bánh bò thốt nốt út quắn, also known as Palm Sugar Honeycomb Cake, is a delightful yellow cake made with pure palm sugar and coconut cream. The use of Nang Khen rice flour and fermented rice results in a soft, fragrant cake with a gentle sweetness. Skilled bakers create intricate designs inside the cake, making it not only delicious but visually appealing.
The most delicious 'cupcakes' I have ever eaten! The spongy dough and palm fruit taste gives them an incredibly unique flavor - and the family running this business from their home is just amazingly lovely ♥️ If I had an event coming up, I'd send my order list right away. If you are in the area, make sure to step by at the location and buy a handful. They don't have a shop yet (seems like they only cater events/weddings) but I'm sure if they see the demand is high, they'll open up one soon. Dear family, if you are reading this: I think you should definitely open a shop and sell your cakes to the world!!🙏

Sam Mountain, located in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, is a significant peak and holy site with numerous temples. Rising 284 meters above sea level, it offers picturesque views of the surrounding plains. Visitors can explore historic structures like Thoa Ngoc Hau Tomb and Temple of Confucius before heading to the mountain. The area around the base of Sam Mountain is home to several pagodas and temples, including Ba Chua Xu Temple.
Amazing place. What a surprise. The mountain is has a cable car to the top. There you find a magical instagram able site and snack stalls and garden but it was the Temple at the bottom which is tardis like, and developed into so many cave rooms; that really blew us away. So peaceful and beautiful. Plus lots of Vietnamese come here to take lovely photos of themselves in national dress. Loved it here.

2 ways to reach the summit, drive a vehicle or take a cable car. I'd prefer the first one. There are many beautiful pagodas on the way up to the mountain, you can drop by. This is the highest mountain in the Mekong Delta, a nice place for overview of the area and also a sacred place. The statue of Ba Chua Xu was found here and then was moved to the current temple.

Phước Điền Tự, also known as Hang Pagoda, is a Buddhist temple located atop Sam Mountain in An Giang province. Built around 1840 - 1845, it is a nationally recognized historical relic with a serene and ancient charm. The pagoda features statues on hillside staircases leading into a network of shrinelike caves, creating a unique and mysterious atmosphere that draws visitors from across the country.
Lovely temple, free to enter, motorbike barking 10K. Includes a climb up the hill with many different places to worship and a cool cave/tunnel system to explore as well.

The pagoda is halfway up on Sam mountain, with many steps to climb up to the pagoda. The architecture of the pagoda is massive, divided into many sections worthshiping visiting apart from the main hall. I was there on Jan 20, when this pagoda was under maintenance and repair, and there weren't many worshiping activities.

One of the most beautiful religious sites and pilgrimages in Chau Doc. The sanctuary is my favorite compared to commercial shrines in town which I would like not to mention. If you look forward to seeing a quiet, calm, and truly Vietnamese shrine, the Hang pagoda should be on your list. The location is perfect, on mountain side facing the wide delta with numerous rice paddies. The architecture is beautiful and the plants are lush and green

A beautiful temple complex om Sam Mountain. Must see if you are in the vicinity. The entrance is free. The visit is mostly along stairs - being on a mountain - but it's not a hard walk. Nice views of the surroundings.

This pagoda is a magnificent construction. You can see it in the middle of Sam mountain from the way back from Tri Tôn. There are many steps to walk to the main hall, reasonable design, good view around, peaceful and calm when you come here. Especially there is a temple in cave and Buddha statue on the cliff on top.

Victoria Nui Sam Lodge is a refined hotel located on the side of Sam Mountain, offering breathtaking 180-degree views and an ideal setting to reconnect with nature. The airy villas provide a comfortable stay amidst the authentic countryside life, close to famous Vietnamese pagodas. The lodge's modern design seamlessly blends into the natural surroundings, and its crown jewel is the infinity pool.
I liked the hotel, the room is big and clean. It is quite during the night, birds sing in the morning. The view in a sunny weather is beautiful (rice paddies when they are green). Good for sunset as well. It is located on the hill and there are no places around except temples, so need to rent a bike/car or a taxi to go anywhere. We had breakfast included and it was a choice of fruits, eggs, croissants, toasts, cereals, some local stuff too.

What a beautiful view this hotel has to offer. Plenty of seatings at their main restaurant to see everyday gorgeous sunset. The highlight of my stay was how friendly and attentive all the staff has been. Special mention to Thao at the reception who has been excellent with the way she handled everything swiftly with a big smile on her face. The manager also did come and greeted me by name. I would definitely come back in the future when I need some peace and quiet along with the magnificent views.

A very pleasant hotel to base yourself a few days. It’s quiet and you never get tired of the view. The staff is very kind, incredibly helpful with everything you could need, and speaks English well. The rooms show some signs of ageing but are still very comfortable. Overall the best hotel I’ve stayed in Vietnam so far.

I had an amazing stay at Victoria Núi Sam Lodge! The location is absolutely stunning — perched on the mountainside with breathtaking views of rice fields and sunsets. The rooms are beautifully designed with a cozy, natural vibe that blends perfectly with the surroundings. The infinity pool overlooking the valley is definitely the highlight! The staff were incredibly kind and helpful throughout my stay, always smiling and attentive to every detail. The restaurant also offers delicious local and Western dishes — the breakfast buffet was lovely. If you’re looking for peace, nature, and comfort, this is the perfect place to unwind. Highly recommend staying at least two nights to fully enjoy the view and atmosphere

It is the best resort in the Mekong Delta. It offers a breathtaking panoramic view of vast rice fields and has unique architecture. Its outstanding customer service is delivered by a team of friendly, professionally trained staff. I have visited many times, and each visit has been a delightful experience. I always look forward to coming back. Thank you, team!

Beautiful hotel, the landscape unbelievable - it looks like a painting. The pool is well maintained and the stuff is friendly. Breakfasts are good with a lot of options and the evening restaurant offers a variety of delicious dishes. The only thing that we dealt with were the bikes we rented, and got two broken motorcycles that trembled on the bumpy roads giving a feeling it will fall apart any moment. After asking to change, one of the bikes was replaced while the other one was still the same. Overall it was a good experience, thank you for having us :)

The condition of the room and furniture are in good maintenance and cozy with the fresh air from the jungle and the top of mountain. Five star rated service from my point of view for the location, trekking tour, traditional food like Bun Ca, Goi Du Du Kho Ca and Banh Bo and guest service, are outstanding If you have a plan to An Giang, it must be the destination, can not be missed to explore the culture and cuisine but also the time to relax and enjoy special own family moments

Nestled at the base of Nui Sam, Lady Temple at Sam Mountain, also known as Mieu Ba Chua Xu, is a bustling religious site in Vietnam. Devotees can be seen preparing offerings outside the temple, including whole pigs, roast chickens, fruit towers, rice cakes, and pink lotus blossoms. Inside the temple are numerous statues dating back to the 19th century and several stupas dedicated to deceased monks.
The Lady of the Land Temple is currently located at the foot of Sam Mountain in Sam Mountain Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Province, but the statue of Lady of the Land was previously located on the top of the mountain. Later, people invited her down to the foot of the mountain for the convenience of burning incense and taking care of her statue. There are also mysterious stories about moving the statue down the mountain that cannot be explained. In the past, before the temple was built, Vietnamese people went up the mountain and accidentally saw a long-forgotten statue. People did not know if it was a god, a saint or a religion, but they followed the custom of worshiping and worshipping, so they placed an incense burner to burn incense and worship their spiritual beliefs. But the special thing was that Lady of the Land was very sacred at that time, making people especially believe in and worship her.
Adventurous — Google review
During our first visit to Vietnam, we had the incredible opportunity to visit the Lady Temple at Sam Mountain, and it truly was a unique experience. What made our visit even more special was that we arrived during one of their important celebrations — a vibrant gathering of locals and visitors alike coming to the monastery to make offerings and participate in traditional rituals. The atmosphere was lively and deeply spiritual, with many people paying their respects and celebrating together. We visited around April 5th or 6th, which coincides with an important date in the local calendar (possibly the Hùng Kings’ Festival or another regional observance). Witnessing the temple in this moment of communal devotion was unforgettable. The monastery itself is beautiful, serene, and rich in cultural significance. If you find yourself in the area, a visit to the Lady Temple on Sam Mountain is an absolute must — whether you come during a special occasion or just for a peaceful day of exploration.

The temple is located at the base of Sam mountain and there are many tourist destinations nearby. This is a spiritual place and a sacred temple. There are several legends about the statue of the lady and about this temple that make this place become more and more famous. The temple's most important festival is held from 23rd to 26th of the fourth lunar month. Thousands of people from across the country gather to workship and celebrate. I came on a weekday, just a normal day but still very crowded and a bit difficult to find a parking lot.
Han N — Google review
Been to Sam Mountain five times now and I still love it. Great views, lots of temples, and a really calm vibe. I always pick up the holy bead bracelets here to bring back for friends — they make great souvenirs and are said to bring good luck.
Ross H — Google review
This is considered a sacred pagoda, a destination for visitors, especially on the occasion of Lunar New Year. Update: came back after 5 yrs still a pleasant, value place to visit. No need to buy ticket. Came in weekday so was not crowded. Took approximately 6 hours driving by car from Ho Chi Minh City to here. Highly recommend to come with a trust local travel guide because local people do not speak English.

Tay An Buddhist Temple, located in the Sam Mountain complex, is a 19th-century pagoda that showcases a blend of Vietnamese and Indian architectural styles. The temple's facade features three round onion-shaped roofs adorned with vibrant colors, creating a harmonious and visually striking appearance. With an area of 15,000 square meters, the temple is home to over 200 statues, predominantly crafted from wood with intricate designs that reflect both cultural and artistic values from the early 19th century.
I don't understand all that is happening here but it seems to be a vietnamese pilgrimage. It's a 5 hour drive from HCM. We drive through the night and arrive well before the sun is up. I think it's to beat the crowds. The local Buddhist people go to pray. Only takes a few minutes. Then have a feed and back in the car for the drive home.

Xian Temple, also known as Xian Chua Temple, is a Buddhist temple located at the junction, at the foot of Sam Mountain (now belonging to Nui Sam Ward, Chau Doc City, An Giang Province). This temple was classified by the Ministry of Culture as a "national art and architecture monument" according to Decision No. 92 / VH.QD dated July 10, 1980; and officially recognized by Vietnam Record Book Center as "the temple with the architecture combining Indian art style and the first ancient architecture in Vietnam". Tay An Pagoda is located on a high, airy ground, in an area of 15,000 m2. Behind, there is Sam Mountain as the screen breaks out with a dark green color. The most impressive point of the pagoda is the main face with three ancient houses, which are round bulbous in shape, with colorful but harmonious colors. The temple is built in the style of "tam", with architecture combining Indian art style and ancient Vietnamese national architecture. The pagoda was built with durable materials such as bricks and tiles, cement. At the gate of the three gate is the statue of Quan Am Thi Kinh, inside the gate is a small pagoda yard with a high column of 16 m. The front of the pagoda, in the middle, is a two-storey Buddha worshiping tower. On the upper floor is a statue of Buddha standing in the middle of a high floor, especially in the middle of the front of the pagoda is a tower built in the style of Menara Azan of the mosques (Islam) with a round, high dome. This is probably the influence of the architectural styles of the Muslim villages (Islam), namely the holy mubarak, Chau Giang on the other side of the Hau River, not far from Xi'an pagoda. Four pillars on the lower floor are guarded by guardians, and on the front are two elephants: white and black. The main hall is a large row of houses, two-storey roofs, roofed with large tubes, wooden pillars, plugs, tile floors. The two sides are the gong floor and the quadrilateral drum floor, decorated on top of the statues of sacred animals (long, unicorn, qui, pho) very fine art. The great grand rose in the bell tower was created in the 32nd year of Tu Duc (1879). In the main hall there are about 150 [6] statues large and small: Buddha, Bodhisattva, Arhat, Bat set of vajra, Jade Emperor, Huynh Emperor, Shennong god, etc. elaborate and fine art, representing Vietnamese sculpture in the 19th century. In addition, the pagoda also has many galleries and couplets, vibrant colors. In 1847, the governor of An-Ha (An Giang and Ha Tien), Doan Uan (1795-1850), was happy to set up a great army to defeat the Siamese army, pacify Chan Lap and built a throne. pagoda with brick walls, green stone rolling background, tile roof; and named it Xi'an himself, which implies quietness in the West. In 1861, Venerable Hoang An (Nguyen Nhat Thua) restored the main hall and the post-ancestors. In 1958, Venerable Thich Buu Tho (1893–1972) mobilized to build three new ancient houses, the main and the main hall, so the pagoda has the appearance like today. The first abbot was Venerable Nguyen Van Giac (1788–1875), the legal name of Hai Tinh, who followed the Lam Te sect, so some people called Tay An pagoda the Lam Te pagoda.

(Translated by Google) The Ba Chua Xu stone pedestal on the top of Sam Mountain, Chau Doc, An Giang, is a mysterious spiritual relic, marking the place where the statue of the Lady was located before being brought down to the temple at the foot of the mountain. This is a square sandstone slab, dark blue sedimentary rock, with a square hole in the middle, identified by archaeologists as the original pedestal of the Lady statue, proving the sacred legend of Ba Chua Xu. To reach the top of the mountain, visitors have many options. The most popular and convenient today is to experience the Sam Mountain cable car, helping you to see the whole view of Chau Doc city and spiritual architectural works from above, enjoying the journey of riding the clouds and turning the wind extremely unique. In addition, visitors can still choose to walk or ride a motorbike up the mountain, although the road is steep, it allows you to fully feel the majesty and openness of the mountains and forests and worship many ancient temples along the way. The space of the stone pedestal on the top of the mountain is extremely pure and airy, surrounded by historical relics and ancient temples. This place has a very unique spirituality, associated with each cliff and tree root, making anyone who comes to worship feel the sacredness and magic of the Lady. Although it is just a stone pedestal without a statue, this place still attracts a large number of pilgrims, showing their respect and deep faith in the guardian deity who has protected the land and people here.

Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum

4.6
(353)
The Thoai Ngoc Hau Mausoleum, also referred to as Son Lang, stands as a remarkable testament to the architectural brilliance of the Nguyen Dynasty in southern Vietnam. Nestled near Sam Mountain and alongside the Vinh Te Canal, this site exudes a serene and respectful ambiance. It serves both as a tomb and temple honoring Nguyen Van Thoai, who played a pivotal role in exploring and developing the An Giang region.
Thoai Ngoc Hau tomb, also known as Son Lang, formerly belonged to Vinh Te commune, now belongs to Nui Sam ward, Chau Doc city, An Giang province. This is a famous landscape, an ancient architectural work during the feudal period, and a national historical monument of Vietnam (ranked in 1997). Son Lang is located at the position that Thoai Ngoc Hau (real name Nguyen Van Thoai) chose to make him a permanent resting place for him later. The work was started in an unknown year, only knowing that when his second wife, Truong Thi Miet, died (July 7, Tan Ty, 1821), he buried her there (on the left of the tomb). his in the future). In October of the year of Binh Tuat (1826), his main wife, Chau Thi Te, died. He was also buried there (on the right of his grave in the future). Thus, it can be said that Son Lang was built by Thoai Ngoc Hau (unknown whether it was basically completed or only partially) before his death in June of the Year of the Ox (1829). Son Lang is located at the foot of Sam Mountain, and is adjacent to Highway 91 today. This is a huge but harmonious architectural block. Want to go to the tomb, must go through nine laterite steps over a hundred meters long, build a trapezoid and then to the yard. The patio is flat, wide, with two small houses built by the following people: one used to store Thoai Son stele (copy) of white marble; two were used to make the statues of horses and foot soldiers ... Next was the ring and the gates of the semicircular mausoleum were cast thick, so the tomb looked like it was solid. Notable artifacts where the wall has the entrance, is the stone tablet by the following people gathered and attached to the wall. The middle beer is most likely the Vinh Te Son beer erected in 1828, four years after the Vinh Te canal has been dug. The stele was taller than the head, made of sandstone, and carved 730 Chinese characters. Because it was left outdoors, without care, the stone surface was cracked and eroded, so the words were no longer readable. The remaining four steles have also been smoothed out by time, so it is unclear to leave ... Through the gate are three tombs located in the middle of the square. Mo Thoai Ngoc Hau is in the middle, the two tombs are the main tomb of Ms. Chau Thi Te and the second tomb of Truong Thi Miet (built a little back to show respect). All of them were built with umbrellas because there was no cement at that time. At the top of the three tombs is a screen lined with Chinese characters. At the foot of the tombs are inscriptions. Follow the stairs up, out of the square is the temple of Mr. Thoai. The temple leaned against Sam Mountain, and was later erected [4]. In the temple is beautiful decoration, there is a bust of Thoai Ngoc Hau with enough ceremonial clothes, creating a cozy and dignified space ... Nghia Trung, the burial place of the dead during the digging of Vinh Te Canal. In the inner tomb and on the left and right side of the square there are also two large areas of land. There are more than 50 tombs built with opaque lake, tombs built with elephant pictures, tombs built in a long or square shape, etc. These tombs are anonymous, most of which are the remains of people. he abandoned himself while digging the Vinh Te canal, which Mr. Thoai gathered. Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum belongs to the Sam mountain scenic area which was recognized as a national historical monument by the Ministry of Culture and Information of Vietnam on December 1, 1997.

Chau Doc Market is a popular destination in Chau Doc City, An Giang Province. Located at Bach Dang Street, it's known for its friendly locals who are always willing to help visitors find their way. The market offers a vibrant atmosphere with colorful shop fronts and is the largest town near the Vietnamese/Cambodian river border crossing.
If you like gritty, authentic local markets that don't cater in the slightest to tourists, this is the place for you. Lots of variety and quite extensive. I have read it's a great place to eat, but we came midmorning and only found a few options.

An eclectic mix of stalls with hairdressers, nail bars, tattoos, massages etc. scattered among the vegetables and t shirts. Jam packed with stalls, might be a problem if you're claustrophobic. Fun people watching and taking pictures, if you ask stall holders whether they mind first.

Good food. However if you can't eat fish sauce, you shouldn't try bún mắm or bún cá

Lots of goodies. Make sure you check a few stalls as prices vary.

It's a market.. It's a boreing market. Why you ask.. Unfortunately in Vietnam especially.. When you vist a market all the stalls are selling the same food products. I have seen this across my extensive trips around Vietnam... If you have one stall selling mango. I gaurantee you have 20 more stalls selling mangos. There is know variety here it's the same thing at each stall Which is disappointing.. And the vendors get very pissed if you do not buy from them... So yes it's a market. But it's a very boreing market after the first 5 minutes..

Hotel
Hung Cuong Hotel is a casual hotel offering airy rooms, some with balconies and river views. The top-floor restaurant provides a pleasant dining experience. While the hotel seems to be new or undergoing renovations, some minor issues were noted such as taped door frames and drainage problems in the bathroom. However, guests found their stay enjoyable and appreciated the stunning views from their rooms. The hotel's convenient location within walking distance to the market and town areas adds to its appeal.
The rooms were not so large but they were very clean and tidy, and staffs were really nice and pretty cute. I really like the view of the hotel and the peaceful atmosphere of the town from the hotel. There were not so many choices for breakfast, and I think they should equip more lights for corridor in every floor.
Vo M — Google review
Very clean room. People are friendly. A little noisy but do not mind at all. Do not expect too much from the room. If you need anything, you can just call the reception. Close to foods and drinks. Buses and taxi nearby. A little pricy but I guess it is high season we are in. Overall pretty good.
Hai T — Google review
The location was pretty rowdy and busy which was expected. The service was pretty good but the room I was placed in had very polluted air which made it hard to sleep.
Duc H — Google review
Pleasant hotel. Seems to be new or going through renovations. Some of the door frames in our room were taped together to hold them in place. The shower didn't drain properly so flooded the bathroom (and half the bedroom!). Our stay was however enjoyable. Our room had a stunning view. The noise from the town centre was relatively easily blocked out - although we had to wedge a spoon into the window latch to form a proper seal when it was closed. Easy walking distance to the market and remaining town areas. It was a suitable stopover for a sleep and move-on, but we would also happily go back once the rebuild is completed.
Steve A — Google review
Good: The hotel room is modern designed. It's easy to get access to Chau Doc market, about 200meter away from the hotel. Bad: - The transportation service is running on the same building with hotel which is really annoyed - Bedspread & towels seems not clean - The price doesn't make sense compared to its service
Tuan N — Google review
Clean, tidy. The ladies at reception were upset because I wouldn't let them keep our passports downstairs. So then they were quite rude and unprofessional and very unhelpful. In Australia we have been taught to always keep our passports in our sight and never leave them anywhere. It isn't an insult towards them, our passport is our responsibility. Room is small with separate bathroom toilet. Room has Air-conditioning. 1 night stay is just OK nothing really good to recommend. Mattress was like sleeping on the floor. No buffet breakfast just cranky staff. Wouldn't recommend it 😔
Rachel H — Google review
Rooms are generally good with basic, but a modern feel, rooms at the front are noisy due to the bus stop directly below and the bus station being located on the ground floor of the hotel, there is inside parking for cars and motorbikes. I have stayed here a few times and it's a nice stay, only bad point is the hot water is heated by the sun, so no sun - no hot water, plus once it's used up by all the guests there is no more hot water.
Danny K — Google review
Location is good. Hotel is not. The building is infested with lizards/house geckos we had many in our room and some got into our luggage bags too. The management tried to sweep them out but gave up and refused to change rooms. The house geckos communicated all night, they make a chirping/clicking sound so you can’t ignore them. Severe bed bug infestation too. Writing this as I contemplate how to treat the big hives I have from the bed bug bites. Please do not book here unless you are okay sharing room and shower with geckos or prepared for bed bugs.

Chau Phu Hakka Guan Di Temple, located at 228 Tran Hung Dao Street in An Giang, is a beautiful example of southern architecture with its three compartments and two wings. Visitors can immerse themselves in the cultural experience by exploring the worship of various deities such as Mr. Quan Thanh and Ms. Thien Hau Thanh Mau.
Born and raised in a Hakka descendant family in this township, as an usual my father always took me to this temple every evening and in the end of the year praying for goods in the new year, showed me the Chinese culture and Hakka Culture. My initial intention was to leave a five star review, but in-spite of the negative way our stay ended at Murray Guesthouse, I have carefully decided to rate in the opposite direction... We checked into MG around 9pm on a Weds night and departed at 5am on Thurs morning. We made nice with the owner and had plans to come back and stay at her hotel every time we came back to Chaudok to source clothes for our store, around 3-4 times x year. But, after a very long day of picking / shopping for items in the market when we came back to the hotel to gather our belongings, we requested to take a quick 5 minute shower before we had to take the bus back to Saigon and the owner fervently denied our request. There were no other guests staying at the guesthouse, as there had not really been since the end of COVID. The owner gave us no other reason, besides "no" with the male staff saying the same and shaking his head. Again, there were literally zero other guests staying at the hotel on this day. Business is supposed to be two-way street and we did not feel like that was the case with Murray Guesthouse. It was a strange way to end our time here and for this, the three-star review. But, I will say in all fairness, that the guesthouse was clean and centrally located and the mattress was comfortable enough for a nights rest, even though we will not be staying here again due to the aforementioned.

Fantastic value for money, and truly wonderful staff. My partner and I stayed here overnight after a Mekong cruise, before transferring by bus to island resort. Conveniently located within walking distance of main square in town (Grab bikes a bit difficult to order from hotel; easy to find a taxi in town to take you back to hotel. Try the Bin Mam and Bin Ca soups at the park/square in town.) Loved: the self-serve, honour system bar; the pool table; the rooftop garden; the generous, thoughtful, helpful staff (thank you! We made the bus - just!!); the environmentally friendly venue, with water freely available instead of small, disposable plastic bottles; the solar powers hot water (hot showers are silly in hot climates!); clean, air-conditioned room. Definitely recommend the hotel for people in this little corner of the world.

Very nice place to stay, comfortable room, A/C works, clean bathroom. Good neighborhood, walking distance to the center of town, quiet street. Chau Doc is a wonderful place. The host was very helpful planning onward travel and stuff to do. Have a beer on the roof balcony. Shoot a game of pool. One thing: they are cash only, even though the websites say they take credit cards, and they don’t serve food anymore, no free breakfast. COVID has changed a lot of places. I would stay here again!

Soft bed, excellent room cleaning, the shower has really nice shampoo and body wash, free unlimited drinking water, and the woman working there was amazing at connecting us to activities (the man is not helpful - just ask for the woman), she also helped problem solve issues we had (ex missing taxi driver). Highly recommend.

Outdated guesthouse with very basic rooms. It smelled weird but fairly clean. If you go with a mindset that you need somewhere to sleep full-stop then it’s ok. Comfortable bed and functioning aircon. FYI: There were no shower gel or shampoo.

Had a lovely stay here - great room, nice dining and relaxing areas, safe in room, nice roof garden. The staff were very accommodating. We stayed here before our Hang Chau Express transit into Cambodia and the owners filled us in on the paperwork processing situation over a delicious breakfast. We were also given a very good recommendation for dinner the night before. Would strongly recommend.

Based myself at the Murray Guesthouse in Chou Doc for 8 nights while birding in the area from Cambodia to the coast. Great accommodation at this family run business. Excellent advice given by Wayne and Than Can. Wayne’s experience of riding the local rural areas and free use of guesthouse bicycles was such a great bonus. Very good cooked breakfast everything morning. And full bar facilities in the evening. All transport and shopping needs are close by as well as many local culinary experiences. Room and facilities as good as anywhere I have stayed. It really was a relaxing and rewarding experience. Barry Day Bundaberg Australia.

Tiệm Cơm Bảy Bồng 2 is a popular spot in Chau Doc, An Giang, known for its traditional Vietnamese dishes. The restaurant offers a range of tasty options such as catfish in claypot and sweet-and-sour soup with catfish or shrimp. Despite its basic cafeteria-style interior and limited English proficiency, the place is well-liked for its authentic cuisine. Visitors appreciate the clean and spacious setting along with friendly service.
Chau Doc is a small town so don't come with expectations of grandeur in a fine dining air-conditioned restaurant. Bay Bong 2 is a huge restaurant, very clean and we experienced good service. We were the only non Vietnamese in the restaurant. I used Google Translate to ask questions about the dishes and the manager who served us was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a fish hotpot (sized down and priced for 2 pax), and a big plate of local vege stirfry w Baby shrimps. The vege dish was awesome... The fish soup was also nice, catfish was very fresh.

South VietNamese cuisine, almost travellers come here and enjoy when they got tour to An Giang - Chau Doc. Clean and delicious, but the price look high. But service were very well, nice staffs and all your request will be strictly support. Fried fish with mango and sweety fishsauce is recommendations.

Wow wow Super busy here The food are just alright The food overpriced more expensive then Saigon. Unbelievable for this place to be this busy Eating HOT food under the roof with only ONE ceiling fan. To hot. Would never go back to this place. Two stars because the parking not for the foods
Tuxx N — Google review
Food quality is okay compared to the price. The price is not even qualified for its outdated furniture and decor. The cooked rice also has bugs inside. Poor hygiene. NOT RECOMMENDED. I would rate 1/100. They even charged me for 2 cups of ice!! Worst restaurant I have even been.

Absolutely the worst dining experience ever! The service was horrible. We ordered hotpot and the waiter brought something completely different. He asked us to just eat because they wanted to close at 8pm on a Saturday night! The one dish they did get right tasted good but was ruined by a million insects falling onto our plates. Don't bother!!!

Quán Mekong

Nestled within a charming French-colonial villa that once belonged to a Nguyen Dynasty official, Quán Mekong offers an authentic taste of Vietnam with its diverse menu featuring southern staples like seafood, eel, quail, and frog. While the setting resembles a parking lot more than a picturesque courtyard—with basic metal tables and plastic chairs—the tablecloths add an unexpected touch of elegance. The restaurant is located in a historic area near the Victoria hotel but lacks river views.
I have been eating here since I was a child. Whenever my family needed a place to gather and dine, this restaurant was always our first choice. The food is delicious and still retains the same flavor as in the past.

I had a fantastic dining experience this restaurent. The food was absolutely delicious, full of rich flavors and fresh ingredients. Every dish was well-prepared and beautifully presented. I especially loved cha gio and muc chien gion which was bursting with authentic taste. The service was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The staff made sure we were comfortable and provided great recommendations. The atmosphere was also cozy and inviting, making it a perfect place to enjoy a meal. I highly recommend Mekong to anyone looking for high-quality food and great hospitality. I’ll definitely be coming backkk

I was attracted to this place by the extensive and unusual menu. The food was fine, but not exciting; everything seemed to be a bit tame, which made sense given that all the patrons were Westerners. Overall, an enjoyable meal, and the server was delightful, but if I had to do it over again I would pick a more local establishment.
Jonathan K — Google review
Nice food was quite tasty. It was a little busy so the service was a bit slow. Looking for value for money and good food Quan Mekong is the place to go.
John W — Google review
We visited this restaurant while we were staying in a hotel nearby but we wanted a more authentic experience. The place is very simple but the food was excellent. The lady who took our order was really nice and kind always smiling. We tried shrimps and a great braised fish with a tasty sauce.
Federica G — Google review
I visit this place every time I'm in Chau Doc for almost fifteen years now. It has a brilliant location inside a quiet courtyard in front of an old, dilapidated colonial villa, and if it wasn't for the small plastic chairs and tables, this could be a romantic, upmarket dining spot. As it is, though, it's just a basic local eatery, but that's not a bad thing. I never had a bad meal here, actually. They have an English menu and cater to tourists as well, so you pay a little bit more than in other basic street eateries, but the food is still inexpensive by any standards and I like the atmosphere here.
André M — Google review
Just of the street restaurant with Vietnamese food (and an English menu). Food was of good.quality and portion.
Bert B — Google review
The food was good! The service rather less so! Our order was only taken after 15 minutes! Then nothing worked anymore! Although there were only 3 tables with 2 people each. After 10 minutes I was thirsty and went to the boss, she called the waitress to serve us the drinks! When ordering, I said that we wanted spring rolls first and then the main course (all in Vietnamese), but it was ignored and everything was served at once!
