It was very pleasant ride from varkala to Jatayu Earth's Center. Around 55 minutes distance. The entrance ticket to both walkway and cable car are currently 325 per person. Cable car rides are nice but have a 30-60 min wait time. Walk way takes 30-45 minutes and has around 900 steps. But thoroughly enjoyable. Water is available on the way. Cash ONLY. Plastic bottles, Food and any alcohol or smokes are not allowed up to the top. Take own steel bottles empty ones , you can fill them on the way. The museum and theatre are not topen yet. But expected price is around 559-600 for all together. There is a iskon temple on the top it's different from their other temples. The view from the top is really beautiful .. prefer to go at 2PM-4 PMso that you can return by sunset time . It's a good place and worth the hike. Parking is also ample amount of space.
Pavani S — Google review
very well organized and clearly designed as a professional, business-oriented tourist spot. There are fun activities, a canteen, and all facilities inside. The place is extremely clean, with ample parking, no plastics, and no littering. Entry along with a two-way cable car costs around ₹610 per person. The cable car ride is smooth and scenic, but you can also choose to climb the 826 steps. I recommend going up by stairs for the experience and taking the one-way cable car down while returning. There is also a small Shri Ram temple on top, and the panoramic views are breathtaking. That said, I did feel a bit disappointed with the way the actual Ramayana story is presented at the site. The inscriptions describe “a bird” without directly mentioning Jatayu, Sita, Ravana, or Rama. It feels like a purposeful dilution of the epic’s context, which is sad given the deep cultural and spiritual significance of this place.
Arjun N — Google review
Jatayu Earth Center is an amazing place to visit! The sculpture is massive and beautifully designed — you’ll truly be in awe when you see it up close. The view from the top is stunning, and the whole area feels peaceful and well-maintained. Make sure to bring CASH There are a few small temples on the top, including one with Lord Rama’s footsteps, which adds a nice spiritual touch. There’s also a small handicraft-style shop and a restaurant area where you can get food at reasonable prices while waiting for the cable car. Even though the entry fee is on the higher side, the overall experience is totally worth it. A must-visit spot if you’re exploring this side of Kerala!
Revmaxrider — Google review
Visiting Jatayu Earth Centre was an unforgettable experience. It is not just a tourist attraction but a wonderful effort to preserve and showcase our mythology, history, and cultural heritage. The entire concept reflects a deep respect for the epic story of Jatayu from the Ramayana, and it beautifully connects visitors to our glorious past. One of the highlights is the mode of transportation to the top of the cliff. The cable car ride offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and greenery, making the journey to the top as enjoyable as the destination itself. It feels adventurous yet very safe and well-managed. The architecture of the Jatayu sculpture is truly awe-inspiring. Standing as the world’s largest bird sculpture, it is a masterpiece that blends art, engineering, and devotion. Every detail—from the massive wingspan to the lifelike expression—speaks volumes about the creativity and dedication that went into its creation. The entire site is well-maintained, and one can clearly see the immense effort and planning that has gone into developing this unique landmark. It is not just a monument but also a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and cultural pride. Overall, Jatayu Earth Centre is a perfect combination of history, art, adventure, and spirituality. It is a must-visit destination for anyone who wishes to experience India’s rich heritage in a modern yet meaningful way.
Mailika H — Google review
The Jatayu Earth's Center, located in Chadayamangalam, Kerala, is a striking example of eco-tourism, adventure, and mythology beautifully intertwined. Its centerpiece is the world's largest bird sculpture, a colossal statue of Jatayu, the noble vulture from the Hindu epic Ramayana. According to the legend, this rocky spot is where the brave Jatayu fell after a fierce battle with the demon king Ravana, in a valiant, but unsuccessful, attempt to rescue Goddess Sita from abduction. The statue, designed by filmmaker and sculptor Rajiv Anchal, depicts the mortally wounded bird and serves as a powerful tribute to women's safety and honor. The monumental sculpture measures 200 feet long, 150 feet wide, and 70 feet high. Inside this marvel is a museum and a multi-dimensional theatre. The surrounding area, spread over 65 acres, also features a sustainable Nature Park, adventure activities like rock climbing and zip-lining, and a cable car system to transport visitors to the hilltop. The center is a unique blend of spirituality and recreation, offering panoramic views and a dedicated effort towards environmental preservation.
Manoj R — Google review
Our visit to Jatayu Earth's Center was an unforgettable experience that perfectly blended mythology, stunning scenery, and adventure. The cable car ride to the hilltop was smooth and offered breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding greenery. At the summit, we were awestruck by the massive, beautifully crafted Jatayu sculpture. The craftsmanship is incredible, and the view from the top is simply spectacular. We also tried some of the adventure activities, which were thrilling and well-organized by the professional staff. The entire facility is impeccably clean and well-maintained, from the parking area to the refreshment stalls. It's a great place to spend a day with family and friends, whether you want to admire the art, learn about the mythology, or get an adrenaline rush. We left with amazing memories and highly recommend this place!"
Dolly K — Google review
We have 2 options to reach the top of the sculpture. Either by cable ride or by Walk. We took a cable ride and reached the top. The journey was fun though. The view was absolutely stunning and the another attraction on the top was the Ram mandir. The idol there was mesmerizing it was made up of pure gold. Everything was good expect the hot Sun.
Sandhya J — Google review
You can reach the top either by cable car or trekking, and both options make the experience exciting in their own way. The site is very well maintained, with clear signage, helpful staff, and good facilities for visitors. It’s not just a tourist spot but also a place that connects you to the legend of Jatayu from the Ramayana. Truly unique and breathtaking destination that combines mythology, adventure, and nature beautifully. The highlight of the place is the massive sculpture of Jatayu — the world’s largest bird sculpture — which is both majestic and symbolic. The view from the top is absolutely stunning, offering panoramic sights of the hills and greenery all around. If you’re visiting Kerala, this is a must-visit attraction for its breathtaking views, cultural significance, and well-managed infrastructure.

Kollam Railway Station

Railway services
Kollam Railway Station, one of the oldest in the area, has undergone renovations to improve its facilities. Known for its cleanliness and tidiness, it is currently undergoing construction for a parking area. The station now features a lift for access to platforms other than platform 1, which is the main line close to the entrance. With two entrances, one facing NH744 (formerly NH208), Kollam Railway Station offers convenience and accessibility.
Visited Kollam Railway station during a recent official trip. At present the railway station is undergoing renovation work. There are plenty of new amenities that have been proposed. As for now there are some short term inconveniences. The lounge and waiting room are in a temporary makeshift place. The booking counter has been shifted to the station entrance.

Kollam Junction (QLN) is indeed a significant and developing railway station in Kerala. It's a major junction and a key hub for rail traffic. Second Largest in Kerala: Kollam Junction is the second-largest railway station in Kerala by area and the largest in terms of the number of tracks (17 tracks, including those in the MEMU shed). It's also one of the busiest in the state, handling a high number of trains daily.

Kollam Railway Station, also known as Kollam Junction, is one of the oldest and largest railway stations in Kerala, India. It features the third longest railway platform in India, spanning over 1,180 meters, and serves as a busy junction connecting Kollam to major cities across India. The station is well maintained, with amenities such as restrooms, food outlets including a noted vegetarian restaurant just outside, prepaid auto and taxi services, and ATM facilities. The station is currently undergoing a major revamp with international standards upgrades expected to complete by early 2026, including the addition of an air concourse linking two terminals that will provide airport-like facilities such as restaurants and shopping areas. Overall, Kollam Railway Station is seen as an important and functional hub that caters well to the needs of travelers despite some congestions and queuing during peak times

Kollam Junction is one of Kerala’s oldest and most significant railway stations, offering vital connectivity to major cities across the state and South India. The station has a historical charm but is steadily evolving to meet modern needs. It features multiple platforms, digital information boards, and basic amenities like waiting rooms and food stalls. Cleanliness is reasonably maintained, though there’s still room for improvement, especially in restrooms and around the platforms. A major highlight is the ongoing development work — a new parking area is under construction, which will greatly ease congestion near the entrance. Additionally, a modern air concourse and a new station building are also being built, promising better passenger flow, improved facilities, and an overall upgraded travel experience in the near future. With these infrastructure upgrades underway, Kollam Jn is poised to become a more efficient and commuter-friendly station.

Kollam Junction (Quilon Junction) is one of the major railway stations in southern Kerala, known for having the third longest platform in the world. The station is currently undergoing renovation under the Amrit Bharat scheme, which has temporarily shortened the first platform, causing inconvenience. The lack of coach position indicators often leads to confusion and passengers rushing around. However, the rest of the station is functional, and the ongoing upgrades are expected to significantly improve overall facilities.

Kollam Junction Railway Station is one of Kerala’s busiest and most important stations, offering great connectivity across the state and beyond. The location is very convenient, right in the heart of Kollam city, and most trains have good punctuality. The platforms are spacious and well-maintained, though cleanliness can be improved in restrooms and waiting areas. Some parts are under renovation as part of the upcoming world-class station project, so you might notice construction work in progress. Overall, a well-connected and developing station that’s getting better with every upgrade! 🚆

Kollam Junction

Train station
Kollam Junction, located in Kerala, is a significant railway station with a high frequency of express and passenger trains connecting it to various parts of the country. The city is accessible via NH66, facilitating road travel to other major cities in Kerala. Additionally, both state-owned and private bus services offer interstate transportation to and from Kollam.
A well-located railway station. Easily accessible by public & private transport. There are Clean restrooms, Waiting Areas, Shops, Food & Free Wifi. Overall, a well-functioning railway station. It combines convenience, comfort, and efficiency to provide a positive experience for passengers. Whether you’re commuting daily or embarking on a long journey, the facilities and services at this station play a significant role in shaping your travel experience.
Rajalekshmi R — Google review
Kollam Junction is perfectly positioned in the heart of Kollam city, making it incredibly convenient for travelers heading to downtown amenities, bus terminals, and the scenic backwaters. The station serves as a major node on both the coastal and inland rail lines, offering frequent services to Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam, Madurai, and beyond. Facilities & Cleanliness: The station premises are remarkably clean, maintained diligently by the staff and railway workers. Waiting lounges, restrooms, and drinking water facilities are in good condition. While seating is ample in the waiting halls, the platforms can sometimes get crowded, especially during peak hours. Accessibility: Kollam Junction is equipped with foot-over bridges connecting all platforms, and ramps are available for differently-abled passengers. However, adding a couple of elevators or escalators would significantly improve accessibility, especially for elderly travelers with heavy luggage. Services & Staff: Ticket counters (both reserved and unreserved) operate efficiently, and the station also supports an easy-to-use UTS and IRCTC ticketing system. Platform staff are courteous and helpful, although during peak times, more marshals could assist with crowd management. Vendors & Refreshments: There’s a decent selection of food stalls, from chai-tea vendors to small eateries offering local snacks and meals. Prices are fair, though you may occasionally spot upscale food carts with slightly premium rates. Overall Impression: Kollam Junction is a smooth and pleasant experience for both local commuters and long-distance travelers.

Kollam Junction is a fairly busy railway station, especially during mornings and weekends. You’ll often find crowded platforms and long queues, particularly during festival seasons. The cleanliness is average—not spotless, but not too dirty either. Some platforms are maintained better than others. Location-wise, the station is centrally placed and easily reachable from most parts of the city, but the approach roads are narrow and traffic outside the station can get messy during peak hours. Facilities like lifts, escalators, and waiting rooms are available, but not always well-maintained. If you're traveling through Kollam, it's functional and historic, but don’t expect a modern or very organized station experience.

Platform 2 does not have ceiling fans. It's a need. Platform 1 has in few sections. Being a junction station, fans should be put up. Neat and clean though. Escalators and elevators have been put up for traveller's comfort on all platforms, which is great.

It is the second largest railway station in Kerala in terms of area and is one of the oldest railway stations in the state. World's second longest and Kerala's longest railway platform is situated at Kollam railway station. Shopping mall
Bishop Jerome Commercial Complex, located in the heart of Kollam city, is a bustling shopping destination with over 100 retail shops offering a variety of products and services. This commercial center features supermarkets, restaurants, theaters, mobile shops, book stalls, tailoring shops, dress stores, accessories shops, beauty parlors and even a bank. It also houses a two-screen multiplex operated by G-Max Cinemas and a mini conference hall.
It is a commercial shopping complex that is located close to the centre of Kollam. In the beginning, began operating in 1987. when Kollam didn't have any malls. This is actually the Kollam Mall, a fairly sizable shopping complex located in the centre of Kollam with more than 100 shops and establishments. It has G-max theatres, grocery stores, electronics, computer, and mobile phone stores, jewellers, book stores, saloons, and other businesses. You can nearly always find what you need here. Although there is ample parking space between the complex and security personnel are on hand to help, we felt that it was insufficient to handle the rising number of visitors. Additionally, the lifts were in poor condition, making it difficult for the elderly and others with special needs. This complex is located close to the easily accessible chinnakkada bus stop and ksrtc stand. Parking is accessible however there is never a guarantee of parking. because of the intense hurry.

Such a great shopping complex. WE avail anything we need at negotiable prices here. Great organization of the building and premises which offer a satisfactory atmosphere. Also there is enough parking space and security guards who look around and ensure proper parking of the vehicles. also there is a cinema theatre "THE G-MAX". And "ROYAL ENFIELD" showroom is also a noticeable peculiarity. there is a food corner, ice cream parlour, "H&C" bookstall and many other mobile and gadget showrooms, which are also other attracting factors.

It has G-max cinemas, supermarkets, mobile / electronics /computer shops, jewellers, book store, saloon, cosmetics store and what not. U can get almost everything u want from here. There's good parking space between the complex and there are securities to assist you but felt it's not adequate to accomodate the increasing volume of visitors, also the lifts were not functioning well which makes it hard for the aged and specially abled. There are two main entrances which you can use.

Non vegetarian restaurant
Indian restaurant
Fayalwan Hotel is a renowned eatery in Kollam, known for its delectable non-vegetarian dishes and traditional Kerala flavors. Established almost five decades ago, this landmark restaurant offers a variety of mutton specialties such as mutton biryani, stew, and roast, alongside popular appam. Despite some mixed reviews on specific dishes like porotta and fish curry, the overall dining experience is recommended for those seeking authentic local cuisine at an affordable price.
I reached Kollam by an official tour and one our companion suggested Fayalwan hotel and the Mutton Biriyani. It's one of the best Mutton biriyani I've tried and will strongly suggest to you all as a must try item. Well cooked and seved and the ambience is also a different one. Hope they can keep the taste forever.

It was nice food. But the mutton curry was not tasty also not enough quantity for the price paid. Other items mutton liver fry very good. Appam and parotta was nice. But prices are bit high. Service is not good. But plenty of dining

Positives 1. Food was really delicious. Actually I'm not a fan of mutton item. But this biryani really surprised me..! 2. The service was really quick and very friendly. They are so energetic and eagerly waiting for the orders 3. Atmosphere was really quite. It's very calm so that everyone can enjoy the food. Negatives 1. They are Openly distributed bowl of some complementary curry for everyone. It's nice actually. But some insects are there that something really bad 2. The water mung is not cleaned properly 3. Peak hours u will face Parking issues

Went there for lunch, peak time. Very hard to get seats at that time. Tried chicken and mutton biryani. Service was very fast. Biriyani was just average, mutton pieces were hard but chicken was soft. Quantity of rice was adequate. Overall average experience. I think meals are good there, lots of people came for meals at that time.
Vishnu C — Google review
I visited this hotel after watching several positive reviews and vlogs about their mutton dishes, but unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. I ordered porotta, aripathiri, mutton curry, and mutton fry. The porotta was smaller than expected, and don't have that much taste and texture 👎🏼 The aripathiri was average. However, the mutton dishes were a complete failure. The mutton curry lacked salt 😑and flavor, and the pricing didn’t justify the quality. The mutton fry was just average and didn’t carry the authentic taste of mutton. Both mutton dishes completely lacked that rich mutton flavor. On the positive side, the hotel has plenty of seating capacity, which is convenient. But overall, it was a poor experience, especially considering the hype around their mutton. Definitely not worth the expectation.
Sarang V — Google review
After a long gap, I tried the mutton biriyani from here and found it to be decent. The quantity was sufficient, the mutton was well cooked, and the masala was mild in flavor. It was served with pappadam, pickle, and salad. However, it took around 20 minutes to get the parcel.
Jayakrishnan N — Google review
Lovely as always. Have been here many times the iconic porotta and mutton combo is evergreen Everyone should try there chicken fry which is awesome A few days back we went there to eat their biriyani but it was over and the time was 13.30, and sadly we ordered rice meals but to our surprise rice meals was also very tasty Parking is a issue because people at this place park their vehicles on the road itself and leave. And hopefully if you get the parking in front of the restaurant then it would be good. There is a separate parking space behind the restaurant but the entry and exists from the parking area is difficult. But still the restaurant would be packed with people as always. A must visit spot.

Fayalwan Hotel in Kollam is well-known for its mutton curry, soft porotta, and biriyani 🍛🥘. The flavors are rich, and the meat quality makes it stand out as a true non-veg hotspot. The biriyani is mildly spiced with a unique Kerala touch, though sometimes the taste can vary. The place gets very crowded, especially during peak hours, so going early is the best way to enjoy a relaxed meal. Parking is limited, but the pricing is fair. Overall, it’s a timeless spot where meat lovers can savor authentic Kollam flavors 😋✨

Kollam Beach is a beautiful coastal escape with wide open skies, gentle sea breeze, and the soothing sound of waves. It’s a great spot for evening strolls, watching the sunset, and enjoying the calm of nature right in the city. 🌊🌴🌅 The beach gives you a touch of Kerala’s iconic backwater charm, especially when the tide is low and the nearby canal edges peek through. But the sea here is usually quite rough — not safe for swimming. There are strong waves and occasional undercurrents, so it’s best to admire from the shore. 🛑🌊 Cleanliness can be hit or miss, especially after busy weekends. It has so much potential to be even better with a little more care from visitors and authorities alike.

Kollam Beach is conveniently located close to the Kollam Railway Station, making it easily accessible for visitors. The beach itself has strong tides and offers the usual charm of a typical coastal experience. On holidays, it tends to get quite crowded, and it feels like a lot of the beach’s full potential remains untapped. One of the highlights is the sight of a large number of colorful kites soaring in the sky, creating a beautiful and lively atmosphere. Overall, it’s a good place to relax, unwind, and simply enjoy the sea breeze.

Atmosphere and Ambiance: The beach exudes a relaxed and local charm. It's not overly commercialized, which allows for a more authentic experience. Evenings are particularly vibrant, with locals and tourists converging to witness the breathtaking sunsets that paint the sky in fiery hues. The gentle sea breeze and the rhythmic sound of the waves create a tranquil backdrop, ideal for unwinding. Cleanliness and Maintenance: Kollam Beach is generally well-maintained, particularly in the main visitor areas. While, like any public beach, there might be occasional litter, concerted efforts are usually made to keep it clean, ensuring a pleasant environment for visitors. The panoramic views of the Arabian Sea as the sun dips below the horizon are simply spectacular and a photographer's delight. * Lighthouse: The iconic Tangasseri Lighthouse, located nearby, adds to the scenic beautyeco-tourism destination, visitors are encouraged to be mindful of the environment and help preserve its pristine condition. Overall Impression: Sambranikodi offers a refreshing escape from the bustling city life. It's a place where tranquility meets history, and nature's marvels unfold before your eyes. Whether you're seeking a peaceful backwater cruise, an insight into local fishing life, or simply a breathtaking view, Sambranikodi promises an unforgettable experience in the heart of Kerala's enchanting backwaters.Kollam Beach is a hidden gem for those who appreciate natural beauty, serenity, and a touch of local culture. I recently had the pleasure of dining at Chef King in Kollam and was thoroughly impressed. The restaurant truly captures the essence of Kerala cuisine. The wheat parotta and Kerala parotta were flaky and perfectly cooked, providing the ideal base for the flavorful pepper chicken masala. The combination of textures and spices was simply divine. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Keralan food, Chef King is a must-visit. The friendly service and cozy atmosphere add to the overall dining experience. I can't wait to return and explore more of their delicious menu offerings.

Aiswarya V — Google review
I recently had the opportunity to dine at Chef King Restaurant for breakfast, and while there were some highlights, there were also a few disappointing aspects that need improvement. Starting with the positives, the food at Chef King Restaurant generally met our expectations. The Appam was cooked to perfection, fluffy and delicate, while the accompanying Egg Roast had a rich and flavorful taste. The Beef Roast and Chicken Sandwich were also satisfying and lived up to their respective descriptions. It is evident that the culinary team possesses skill and expertise in preparing these dishes. However, the experience took a downturn when it came to the coffee we ordered. Sadly, it was overly sweet to the point that it felt like they were trying to compensate for something. It left a lingering artificial aftertaste that was quite off-putting. It would be beneficial for Chef King Restaurant to reevaluate their coffee preparation methods and adjust the sweetness level to cater to a wider range of preferences. Another aspect that requires attention is the language proficiency of the service staff. While it is understandable that not all staff members may be fluent in the local language, it would greatly enhance the dining experience if they could communicate effectively with the customers. Clear communication helps in understanding specific dietary requirements and enables guests to make informed choices. It would be advisable for Chef King Restaurant to invest in language training for their staff to bridge this gap. Additionally, cleanliness was not up to the mark during our visit. A thorough and regular cleaning routine is crucial in maintaining a hygienic environment for guests. Improving cleanliness standards will undoubtedly elevate the overall dining experience and leave a positive impression on patrons. In conclusion, Chef King Restaurant provides a mixed dining experience. While the food, such as the Appam, Egg Roast, Beef Roast, and Chicken Sandwich, meets expectations and showcases the culinary expertise of the kitchen, there are areas that require improvement. The overly sweet coffee, language proficiency of the service staff, and cleanliness standards all detract from an otherwise pleasant experience. With some attention and refinement in these aspects, Chef King Restaurant has the potential to deliver an even more enjoyable and satisfying dining experience.

The Bishop Jerome Nagar Shopping Complex in Kollam is where you can find Chef King. It has been operating here for more than 20 years. It was renovated recently. It is one of Kollam's top hotels. They include separate air-conditioned dining areas as well as indoor and outdoor seating options. I requested a coffee and a chicken burger, both of which were excellent. I tried the porotta here and it quickly became one of my all-time favourites. It takes a lot of time and effort to park, thus we have to propose one.

Went for a light bite here. They have renewed the old setup. The new place feels good in ambience. They have outside seating along with inside seating and separate ac dining area as well. Ordered chicken lollipop. It was ok. The chill garlic sauce that accompanied chicken lollipop was really good. The service was also decent. All the options on the menu were not available. Will give another review sometime when I taste more food from here

Disappointed with the Sharjah Shake! Visited this restaurant with friends and ordered Sharjah Shake for ₹80 each. After a long wait, we were shocked by the tiny serving. Other places offer much more for the same price. Felt completely ripped off! Definitely not worth it—wouldn’t recommend if you value your money.

Fusion restaurant
Fusion Table offers a diverse range of unfussy global cuisine in a modern and spacious environment. They also serve shakes, mocktails, and have a pleasant atmosphere. While some customers may experience longer wait times for their food to be served, the restaurant's customer service is excellent with polite and well-behaved staff. Visitors are highly recommended to try the unique Kashmiri kawa tea, as it is not easily found elsewhere in Kollam.
Recently, I had an amazing meal at Fusion Table in Kollam. I chose a selection of meals that really pleased me from their menu, which offers a delectable fusion of international flavours. The food I ordered, which included a Thai-style chicken salad and biriyani, was great. Both quantity and quality were respectable. The restaurant itself has a modern, spacious, and light-filled atmosphere. The entire dinner experience was made pleasant by the attentive and amiable service. Fusion Table is unquestionably worth a visit if you're seeking for a spot in Kollam to sample novel flavour combinations!

Fusion table is a premium fusion cuisine restaurant with a distinct sports theme, blending global flavors and local flair in an immersive, cozy setting. The décor fuses vintage stadium elements with modern luxury—think soft leather seating, dim warm lighting, reclaimed wood interiors, and discreet screens showing iconic sports highlights. Chic and comfortable with plush interiors, ambient jazz-infused sports anthems, and personalized lighting for every table. Each booth is themed after legendary sports moments or players, adding character and nostalgia.

I recently visited at Fusion Table and had a great experience overall. The location was perfect. ♥️ This fusion chicken dish was a total flavor bomb! It brought together the best of different cuisines in one incredibly satisfying meal. The seasoning was bold and creative — blending spices and sauces you wouldn’t usually expect together, but they worked perfectly. ♥️ The chicken steak was absolutely fantastic — a true comfort dish with a gourmet touch. The chicken breast was perfectly grilled, tender and juicy on the inside with a nice golden sear on the outside. It was well-seasoned, letting the natural flavors shine without being overwhelmed by spices.
Abhijith A — Google review
Extremely disappointing experience. We had ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, but what we were served was something entirely different — the chicken pieces were green and had a sour taste. On questioning, the staff casually informed us that since tikka chicken wasn’t available, they had used leftover Hariyali Tikka instead — and didn’t even bother to inform us beforehand. When we raised the issue, they reduced ₹110 from the bill — changing the ₹310 Chicken Tikka Masala into an "add-on" priced at ₹200, as seen in the attached bill. Apparently, this is a regular practice here, which makes it even more concerning. This kind of service is unacceptable. Customers come to dine and pay for what they order, not to be surprised with leftovers thrown into their dish without consent. The attitude of the staff was even more shocking — as if we were expected to accept and eat whatever they decide to serve. If you value transparency, quality, and basic customer respect — I would not recommend Fusion Table. They seriously need to rethink how they treat paying customers.

I recently had the opportunity to try the infused chicken at fusion table, and it was truly a delightful experience. The chicken was tender, juicy, and packed with rich, well-balanced flavors that showed great attention to marination and preparation. The infusion of herbs and spices was done just right — not overpowering, but enough to elevate the dish to something special As for the hotel itself, the ambiance was warm and welcoming. The staff was attentive, courteous, and knowledgeable about the menu, which added to the overall pleasant dining experience. The interiors were clean and tastefully decorated, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal or stay.

I recently hosted a birthday party at Holborn restaurant, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience. Everything went smoothly, and I couldn’t have asked for a better celebration. The food was delicious and well-presented, with something for everyone to enjoy. The service was outstanding—the staff were friendly, efficient, and made sure all my guests were taken care of. The atmosphere was perfect for the occasion. I’m so happy I chose Holborn for this special day and highly recommend it for anyone planning an event!

Holborn in Kollam has a beautiful atmosphere, making it one of the best-designed spots in the area, with a special space for celebrations. I tried the Jamaican Grilled Chicken—unique in flavor but just okay for me. The Flaming Grills were good, but the kuboos was below average. The rice had decent taste and came in good quantity. For drinks, the Strawberry Mango Blitz was decent, but the Blueberry drink was overly flavored and felt artificial. Overall, a mixed experience.

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The French fries and lollipop were decent, but the butter chicken Kepsa rice was a letdown. The rice was too hard to eat and had an unpleasant flavor. The chicken in the dish had no taste, and it was served cold instead of hot. Overall, the experience was far from satisfying.

Day 2

For day 2, we recommend exploring the east side side of town. Start the day off with Adventure Park, Kollam, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Thangassery Beach. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Park & ride
Adventure Park, Kollam, also known as Asramam Picnic Village, is a popular destination offering a variety of leisure activities for visitors of all ages. Situated next to the 200-year-old Government Guest House, the park features swings, fitness facilities, boat rentals and amusement rides for children. With its serene surroundings and attractions such as pedal boating in Ashtamudi Lake and an aquarium showcasing marine life, it's an ideal place for families and individuals to enjoy outdoor recreation.
This park offers a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The tranquil waters of Ashtamudi Lake provide the perfect backdrop for leisurely boating excursions, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of nature. Meanwhile, children can enjoy an array of thrilling rides, from merry-go-rounds to slides, ensuring endless fun and laughter for the whole family. Moreover, the addition of a fish spa adds a touch of novelty and relaxation to the experience. Visitors can indulge in this unique treatment, where tiny fish nibble away dead skin cells, leaving feet feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. Overall, with its scenic surroundings, exciting activities, and unique offerings like the fish spa, this park earns a well-deserved five-star rating, promising unforgettable memories for all who visit.

Nice place to spend quail time.. The view across Ashttamudi backwaters is mesmerising. It’s a very calm place, Plenty of rides for kids to enjoy. Boating facility is also available here. Tickets fair is only 25 rupees per person. We visited this place in the morning hours but it would be even more beautiful during sunset.
Arjun_ A — Google review
This location is a great destination for families, especially those with children. It offers a fun and engaging environment where kids can enjoy themselves. On holidays and weekends, however, it tends to get quite crowded, so planning a visit during off-peak times might provide a more relaxed experience. Visitors will find a good variety of refreshments and snacks available, which adds to the overall convenience of the place. One of the standout aspects is the staff – they are exceptionally polite, friendly, and supportive, which greatly enhances the visitor experience. However, there is a significant concern regarding the cleanliness of the nearby backwater area. Unfortunately, it is polluted with plastic waste, which not only detracts from the natural beauty but also poses an environmental hazard. It is essential that the concerned authorities take prompt and effective action to clean up this area and implement measures to prevent further pollution. Maintaining a clean and safe environment will ensure the place remains enjoyable and sustainable for all visitors.
Shibu B — Google review
Visited this place after almost 21 years — my last visit was in 2004 during an adventure camp where I had injured my leg. Back then, it was a beautiful, lively spot filled with nature, activity and good memories. This time… honestly painful to see the decline. The water bodies are filled with debris and waste, structures stand without planning or maintenance, and the entire ecosystem feels neglected. A once-vibrant attraction in Kollam has been allowed to deteriorate right in front of us. It’s sad that such a potential tourist hot-spot in Kerala is poorly maintained while similar parks across the world are preserved with pride. Authorities don’t seem concerned, and waiting for political will is pointless. If a private entrepreneur could take over and set an example — the way well-managed parks abroad operate — this place could return to its former glory. Kollam deserves better. Kerala deserves better.
Nishad K — Google review
Adventure Park in Kollam is one of the best spots to hang out with children, but it seriously needs attention. Most play equipment is old and outdated. Earlier, there was beautiful buffalo grass, but now it's poorly maintained and almost gone. Toilets are in bad condition, with a strong smell reaching the entrance itself. The only enjoyable part is the boat service in Ashtamudi Lake, available every 20 minutes. The Tourism Department must take immediate action to renovate and revive this once-beautiful park.
Riyas R — Google review
A good place with lot of possiblitues for expansion. But due to bad maintenance must equipments for play and exercise are either not usable or only partially available. Boat service is cost effective for those who want a short trip though the lake. Kiosk serving food is not having many options. But still it's a place to sit comfortably with good air circulation and tree shades
Anzar B — Google review

Ideal place to spend the mornings and evenings, entire park is set beneath a thick layer of tall trees. So it is always a cool and calm atmosphere inside. Another major attraction is the 30 min boat ride Cons : lack of cleanliness, there are lack of maintenance Overall a nice place for kids and family

Indian Coffee House, located in the heart of Kollam, is a fantastic cafe that can be easily accessed via public transportation. This establishment stands out for its classy ambiance, perfect for social gatherings and family outings. Notably, all their dishes are halal, catering to specific dietary requirements. Their extensive menu showcases a wide variety of delectable options from Indian cuisine.
The food there is worth the money. I would recommend beetroot masala dosa, which is a trademark dish of probably all the Coffee Houses. Their cutlets are also good.. Moreover, it's a nostalgic place for many like me.

Nostalgic place. The great Indian coffee house , today (18/07/2023) visited after 18 years to eat the same combo which I had eaten when I was on 3rd Std ,to be Frank it's nostalgic but the taste is not up to the mark coffe and cutlet combo ❤️ if they improved the taste then this is a heavenly place .But not all times but atleast we can compromise on something which was soo special . Anyway thanks Indian coffe will come once again after 18 years 😂😂😂

I don't know what's happening to coffee houses. Once it was like the pride of Kerala. And the only one I liked is the one on the way to Alappuzha, I think near cherthala. And this one at kollam is a complete mess. Coming to the negatives 1. Cleanliness: The washroom and hand wash area are the worst. Please put some effort into cleaning the washroom. At least it's an Indian coffee house. The dining area looks like a local hotel, no lights. 2. Food: The food was average. Ordered porotta and beef roast, cutlets and tea. Porotta was good and beef curry was like beef mixed in chilli water. 3. Service: As like any other ICH, the service is pathetic. You have to wait for a year for someone to attend the table. 4. Parking and accessibility: ICH is somewhat inside and is situated right beside a theatre. So when the show is running in the theatre, parking becomes a problem. You can find better hotels at kollam, try those.

Thangassery Beach, located 5 km from Kollam, is a serene and picturesque destination with golden sands and clear sea waves. The beach is complemented by a historic 16th-century lighthouse that offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea coast. Nearby are the remnants of the Old Portuguese Fort and 18th-century churches, adding to the area's historical significance.
This beach has a beautiful and inviting seen. Besides the other beaches Thangassery has sufficient parking space and easily reachable from chinnakada town. The beach is less crowded during week days and there are many food stalls from where we munch on viewing the beach. The coast guards are very attentive and hence it’s a safe beach. Sunset view is magical here.. We can also spend time by flying kites in the beach.

A good place to hang out near kollam Beach. They have a paid parking facility for 20 plus cars. The parking fee is Rs 20 for a car, and the entry fee is Rs 20 as well.

This tourist place offers a moderate experience with a mix of attractions. While it may not boast extraordinary features, it provides a decent destination for visitors. The local culture and scenery contribute to the overall experience, but it might lack the wow factor of more renowned destinations. Basic amenities and services are available, making it a suitable spot for a casual visit. While it may not be a top-tier tourist spot, it offers a satisfactory experience for those looking for a relaxed and uncomplicated travel destination.

Shajahan Stores has been a trusted name for fruits and vegetables since 1955, and it truly lives up to its legacy. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the vibrant colors of farm-fresh produce and the pleasant aroma of nature’s best. Every fruit and vegetable here speaks of quality — crisp, juicy, and handpicked with care

Chef NalaN Restaurant in Kollam is a place where food is celebrated, offering a delightful array of flavors. The dining experience here resembles the feeling of being at home and treated like royalty. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with a romantic rooftop offering beautiful lake views. In addition to their excellent cuisine, they also provide impressive facilities such as a party hall and lakeside resort. While the price for biriyani is reasonable considering its taste, beverages may be slightly overpriced.
Food is always a celebration, a feast of flavours. This is the only place in Kollam I felt the same when dining in, besides my home. With each bite you take, you will feel like you are a King and the food is specially made for you and you alone to impress you. Yes, ‘dine like a king’ is not just a phrase put up on this place but it’s what we feel here. The interior is fitted with a comfy and homey ambience and the rooftop is very romantic with a lake view. The property itself accommodates a party hall and resort with a lakeside more than any other star hotel in Kollam. The best place in Kollam!

The trip over here is a experience in itself. The ambiance is very nicely done. Small place but has been designed with a lot of choices. They have a good choice of food, from continental to authentic Kerala menu. The staff is very helpful and always smiling. The food is also very tasty and must try out. They have live music and this enhances the ambiance even further. They have double decker made into a kitchen which is also very nice to see. Overall a very good experience.

The place offers a different experience in terms of the Menu and ambience. The roof top is a nice place to enjoy the dinner if you are lucky to have no rains. The food is having a mixed take due to the variety. I liked the food here whereas my wife and friend was a little bit taken aback by the vaazhapoo biriyani and the Ambrossia drink. We all loved the Karimeen pollichathu and chicken kandari. A definite try if u want a variety food experience

A pretty decent restaurant with a beautiful lakeside view. The food preparation and presentation is very nice . There's no compromise in taste and quality. Gives us a nostalgic feel when the dishes are served in clay pots and plates . The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and it's ambiance is nice. Must try - 1. Ellu unda (sesame seed balls) 2. Shankapushpam Tea Note * It's better you call and preorder some dishes if you have limited time, as it may take some time to prepare the dishes .

As in the name, the chef really stopped at our table and explained about the dishes and their speciality. Maybe we were lucky to talk to him. The atmosphere is unique and good. Their waiter calling system is a unique as well; they have fixed the auto horn 😁 Nevertheless, their signature dish was fish wrapped in banana leaf. Their signature Biriyani was served in a rather splendid way, filled in banana flower. Would love to visit again whenever we are in this part of Kerala.

Dined in at Chef Nalan (Pallimukk, Kollam) on 5th Jan. Most items weren’t available to order From the starters ‘Porotta Churutt’ was nice and from then on the standard took a deep dive - ‘kothporotta’ was below par, ghee rice and biryani were poor. Fish Dhamaka (which is named as something else in the menu) was a disaster. We were the only one in the restaurant at 7pm on a Friday night, had two other families joined in our time. Being served in broken plate is no fun at all. Over all, not a great experience. (If the restaurant wants more constructive feedback, I am all up)

The restaurant is created on old look. So here you will find everything on a different and old look. The foods are not delicious but okay. Prices are high. Restaurant is clean. Washrooms available. Limited parking for two cars available. Transportation easy.

Amazing place to be. Tasty food which is made out of unique healthy herbs. I liked Hamoor fish pollichatu, beef roast, puttu & sprouted peas, Fish biriyani served in Banana flower. So tasty and the unique taste make it so special. Ambience is the greatest highlight, Ashtamudi lake side view, lovely music and tasty food making it one the best restaurants in Kollam. Perfect place to spend time with your family. Sitting by a lake is such a peaceful experience and to have a sip of blue tea Chef stop special with this ambience marks as my favourite experience. Love to spend time at this amazing place. A must visit and trust me this will turn out to be your favourite if you really enjoy good food and great ambience.

Wonderful food. Good service. Burnt butter and garlic fried rice is my favourite. Honey chilli chicken is good. Chicken calimeri is variety. Beef in black pepper sauce is good. When it comes to seafood dynamite prawns is a must try. Also prawns in burnt garlic is a good one. For desserts there is choco burst, brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

The place is situated in rp mall which happens to be the only mall in kollam town which is quite good for general standards .Even though there is a huge franchise of MacDonald s there it won't affect wok and grill , because mainly they are two genres. Wok and grill has a whole prestigious as well as posh outlook and has a separate dining space for its customers .the food is amazing and there is a large variety in the menu .the Chinese is the highlight in the restaurant .It's a must visit in kollam..

Green Pepper is an ideal destination for a peaceful retreat, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cuisine is delectable, and the establishment benefits from natural ventilation provided by cool breezes instead of relying on air conditioning. While you savor your meal, your children can enjoy themselves at the adjacent playground. Additionally, there is a convenient entrance to the park directly from the hotel premises. Treat yourself to some tea and traditional Kerala steam-cooked snacks.
A perfect spot for relaxing away from town rushes. The food was good. The restaurant is naturally cooled by the wind breeze, no need of AC. You can enjoy the food, while your kids enjoy the children's park. The hotel has also got an entrance to go inside the park. You also got tea and kerala steam cooked snacks. The hotel offers veg and non veg variety of food. The staffs are customer friendly. Hotel food rates are budget friendly. The hotel has got sufficient naturally shaded parking spaces.

One of the best eateries in Kollam. Being a guy from the malabar area, its hard to find a restaurant that meets the taste standards I am exposed to. But this one is simply amazing. Have had lunch multiple times from here along with friends, and everytime we left with an intension to come back. Vegetarian - side dishes and the non veg stuff including various fish items are great. And all these come at a reasonable price too. After having food from here, you should cross to the opposite side of the road and taste the KALLU SODA (കല്ല് സോഡ) for completion. It will make lunch more awesome.

Gowri Sankar Restaurant is a popular dining spot in Kollam, known for its vegetarian offerings catering to North Indian tastes. The restaurant stands out as a rare find in the Malabar area, where non-vegetarian options dominate. The menu features North Indian, Chinese, and South Indian cuisine. Visitors appreciate the clean dining environment and prompt service. Guests have enjoyed delicious meals with refreshing drinks and commend the attentive staff.
Dosa was delicious with beautiful presentation. I recommend the coffee too. The facility is clean and service was quick. There is a nice large joint fish tank that is fun to watch. Definitely recommend this place.

Restaurant was quite clean. Easily accessible. May be difficult to find parking as it’s in the main road. Have a good list of pure vegetarian food menu. All food items ordered were very tasty. The day I visited was a busy day. Price was very affordable to my surprise for the taste they offered in the food. Service was great with others at the other table but with my table the service guy was an idiot.

I just had breakfast here. We placed an order for coffee, masala dosa and tea. I found everything about the ambience to be mediocre. The taste and quality of the food are mediocre. It's difficult to tell which one is staff here. Serving food barehanded and with a very unprofessional attitude towards consumers makes me feel a little uncomfortable. For me, it was an average experience overall.

Its one of the best veg-restaurants in town. Provides a minimal parking facility but, the ambience in the restaurant is very cozy and it gives a solid feel of a typical South Indian veg-restaurant. I recently visited RP Mall Quilon during a 3-hour layover at Kollam railway station, which is just 1.9 km away. The mall offered a great experience, with a food court featuring various options, Baskin-Robbins on the ground floor for dessert, and Trends outlet with an impressive clothing collection. I also enjoyed purchasing customized products from Red Moments on the ground floor. The mall's toilets were clean and well-maintained, making my short visit worthwhile.

This is a decent shopping destination with a variety of stores and dining options. The mall features popular brands and eateries, making it convenient for a quick shopping trip or a meal. However, the food court could use better quality and variety, and most of the shops are just okay. The mall can get quite crowded, especially on weekends, making parking a challenge. The cleanliness of common areas and restrooms could be improved. This mall is a satisfactory place for shopping and dining, but there's significant room for improvement, particularly in the food court and the variety of shops.

The ambience is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, making the entire shopping experience very pleasant. This mall in our town holds a special place in my heart. Every time I visit, there’s a certain charm and warmth that makes the experience feel unique. While it may not be as large or as luxurious as some other malls, its atmosphere is welcoming and pleasant. The mall offers several branded outlets like McDonald's, Trends, Arrow, Malabar Gold etc offering diverse shopping options. Its food court serves a range of cuisines, from Malabari and North Indian to American and Mexican, as well as traditional Kerala dishes... Additionally, the multiplex with two screens is also a major attraction. ✨🫶 However, the mall has poorly maintained toilets with bad smell and poor air conditioning 👎. Overall, RP Mall is an average shopping center - manage your expectations before visiting.

The Chinnakada Clock Tower is a prominent landmark situated in the heart of Kollam city in the Indian state of Kerala. Known as the city’s most recognizable symbol, it stands at the intersection of major roads, making it not only a geographic focal point but also a cultural and historical icon. The tower serves as a testament to Kollam’s rich heritage and its importance as a commercial hub, especially in the past when the city played a crucial role in Kerala’s trade with foreign countries. Constructed in 1944, the Chinnakada Clock Tower was built during the reign of the Travancore Kingdom under the supervision of the then Diwan, C.P. Ramaswami Iyer. The structure was modeled in a traditional architectural style, blending colonial and local influences. It features four clocks, one on each side, visible from multiple directions, making it a functional landmark for commuters and locals alike. Over the decades, it has become a symbol of the passage of time and the enduring spirit of Kollam. Chinnakada itself is one of the busiest junctions in the city, where roads from Thiruvananthapuram, Alappuzha, and Tamil Nadu converge. Due to the high traffic density, a modern underpass has been constructed near the clock tower to ease congestion while preserving the tower’s historic significance. The Kerala government and local authorities have made efforts to preserve and beautify the tower, often illuminating it during festivals and public events, further enhancing its charm. Apart from its architectural and historic value, the Chinnakada Clock Tower holds emotional significance for the residents of Kollam. It serves as a common meeting point and is often the centerpiece in local photography, art, and public memory. Whether for locals or tourists, the tower is more than just a timekeeper—it is a living monument that narrates the story of a city that has gracefully blended the old with the new.
Jamsheer M — Google review
I visited the iconic Chinnakada Clock Tower during a trip to Kollam, and it truly stands as the beating heart of the city’s hustle and bustle. Erected in 1944, this quadrangular tower was built to honor K. G. Parameswaran Pillai, a former municipal chairman, and was the first clock tower in the old Travancore state . Made of brick and white cement, with clocks on all four faces brought from Kolkata (and originally England), it still keeps accurate time today . ✔️ What I loved: Central location: It sits at Chinnakada junction, just half a kilometer from railway and bus stations — incredibly easy to find . Architectural charm: The fusion of British colonial and local design makes it photogenic—especially in the golden hour. Vibrant atmosphere: Surrounding markets, street food stalls, and local shops made for an authentic Kollam experience. No entry inside: You can admire it only from ground level at present . Traffic & parking: Chinnakada is a busy traffic node. There's a small Rs 20 parking lot next to the tower, but it fills up quickly . Limited visit time: A quick 15–30 minutes is sufficient unless you’re exploring nearby temples, eateries, or shops. In sum, the Chinnakada Clock Tower is more than just a timepiece—it’s a symbol of Kollam’s past and present. A perfect quick stop for photographers, history buffs, or anyone wanting a slice of local life. 💡 Tips for visitors: Go early morning or late evening to avoid peak traffic. Stroll around to enjoy street food classics and local wares. Snap photos at different angles — including from the old overbridge — for dramatic shots. All in all, a must-see Kollam landmark for a brief but enriching experience in the city’s cultural core.

Chinnakada Clock tower is the face of Kollam. It had been there as long as I can remember. Newcomers might not appreciate the tower. Lots of new buildings have come up around it, but this tower stands tall proudly amidst the new ones. The tower was built to commemorate a former chairman. If you pass through the city you can't miss it. You can see it close from the old overbridge in Chinnakada.

Among the greatest places in Kollam to spend time with family and kids. It is located really close to the Kollam Beach. There are a tonne of fun rides and play spaces. This will be really enjoyed by our kids. Each entrance is really expensive, and we have to charge a separate fee for each ride. It's a great place to unwind by the lake because of the well-kept grounds and tasteful landscaping, which elevate the whole experience.

You can visit this location, which is combined with the Kollam Beach, with your family and friends. Kids adore this location since it offers a wide selection of rides, food, and entertainment options. entrance fee is required. It gets extremely crowded here on Sundays and holidays.

MG park is one of the few recreational spots available in Kollam for children. There are a few mechanisms rides such as train, dragon, battery operated cars, etc. Kids can also enjoy climbing structures, jumping on spring board (net), slides, seesaw, swing, etc. Parents and guardians have to pay extra care to kids while they play as chances of accidents are possible. The entrance fee and ride fee have gone up. Most rides are now charged 20 Rs per kid/session. Kids below 4 years old get free entry to the park. Toilet facility is there but it’s pay for use. There are a few shops that sells snacks, soft drinks, ice creams, etc. Outside by the beach, there are a few street vendors who sell toys. Be careful if you happen to go the beach side. There are lifeguards on duty but if you don't know swimming, be extra careful during rough sea conditions. Parking spaces are available and is controlled with parking fee. Please don't litter the public space.

Lighthouses
The Thangassery Light House, also known as the Tangasseri Light House, is a historic beacon dating back to 1902. Standing at 41 meters tall, it is the second tallest lighthouse on the Kerala coast and a popular attraction in the region. The tower features distinctive red and white spiral stripes and offers visitors the option to ascend via an elevator or stairs to enjoy panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and surrounding landscape.
The Thangassery Lighthouse in Kollam is a fascinating historical monument that still serves its purpose to this day. Climbing its 193 steps (with the top 10 restricted) offers an excellent opportunity to appreciate not only its functional design but also the brilliance of its architecture. The panoramic view from the top is simply breathtaking and well worth the climb. For those who may find it difficult to climb, there's a surprising lift facility available a thoughtful addition without taking away from the charm of the lighthouse. That said, to truly experience its essence, taking the stairs is highly recommended. The premises are well maintained, with ample parking, a small park for children, and even a snack counter offering refreshments at reasonable prices. Whether you're interested in history, architecture, or just want to enjoy a peaceful view, this lighthouse is a perfect destination.

One of the famous tourist spots and landmarks in Kollam. The scenic beauty of Thankassery and the entire coastal region makes you mesmerized. We recently visited here on a working day and went around 11 am. It's a good experience and not very crowded. Even though it's noon, there is so much cool atmosphere at the top but you should go for evening time, it's pretty more good. The staff service is good, and they always maintain the premises. I think you can spend a decent amount of time here without any boredom. There are stairs and a lift available. If you have any health issues, then you should definitely go for the lift option because climbing too many steps makes you suffocate. They are charging an entry fee of र20 for adults, र10 for children(3-12) and senior citizens and र50 for foreign citizens. There is an extra fee of र10 for taking photos. You have to keep the footwear outside before entering the lighthouse & kindly remember that Monday is a holiday here. There is a children's park in the compound. There are washroom facilities provided in the corner.

One of the oldest lighthouses in Kerala, it holds history from the time of the British East India Company. Both an elevator and stairs are available to reach the top. The view from the top is worth the journey and ticket amount of 20rs.😀
Vaisakh S — Google review
Worth a stop on the way up north to Alappuzha for only 20rpi. Worth noting there is a ticket office for the fun park , so make sure you go up the road to the actual light house entry gate. Founded in 1902 this is one of two lighthouses in the Kollam area. After to begin showing cracking in 1930, this lighthouse was strengthened by A.N Seal in 1940. This 120+ year old light house will provide stunning views over Kollam and the Indian Ocean

Amazing place with a breathtaking view. It’s the second tallest lighthouse in Kerala, and a lift facility is also available for visitors. The surrounding landscape is also very beautiful. It’s just a quick 10-minute walk from Tangy bus stop, or you can easily take an auto. A must-visit spot in Kollam
Lazy A — Google review
What a beautiful light house it is, with a lift inside to make our effort of walk easy to reach the top. Beautiful view of the whole thamarassery area and kollam. 20rs is the admission fee for one person and 10 extra for using the camera. 10min is allowed maximum if there is rush to spend on the top. Otherwise 10-15 is maximum allowed. Try to take the stairs instead of lift, if you want to burn some calories😜
Arun R — Google review
I visited this Lighthouse yesterday, and overall, it was a pleasant outing, though it had its pros and cons. The lighthouse itself is quite charming, with a quaint and historic feel, but it’s noticeably smaller compared to the more imposing Vizhinjam Lighthouse. The view from the top is lovely, offering a nice glimpse of the coastline, which made the climb worthwhile. However, the surrounding area feels a bit confined, lacking the open, spacious vibe you get at Vizhinjam. The space around the lighthouse is limited, which makes it feel a bit crowded, especially if there are other visitors. The staff, unfortunately, weren’t the friendliest. They seemed disinterested and didn’t offer much in terms of guidance or warmth, which was a bit disappointing. Another inconvenience was the lack of dedicated parking. We had to park along the street, which felt a bit haphazard and added some hassle to the visit. Despite these drawbacks, the lighthouse itself is well maintained, and the experience of exploring it was enjoyable. It’s a nice spot for a quick visit, especially if you’re in the area, but don’t expect the grandeur or amenities of larger lighthouses like Vizhinjam. Overall, a solid experience worth checking out!

Ashtamudi Lake, located in Kerala, is a picturesque backwater destination with its extensive lagoons stretching over 30 kilometers. It offers stunning vistas of water, islands, and greenery, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful retreat. Visitors can cruise past coconut groves in traditional wooden canopied houseboats while learning about age-old fishing practices along the shores.
Recently travelled to Ashtamudi Lake in Kerala, its very awesome place, it will be more delightful if you select the floating cottages by the side of the lake for completely different experience. From here you can visit Munroe islands, Jatayu (world's largest Bird statue) and varkala beach (white sand beach).

Ashtamudi Lake in Kollam is a stunning getaway, offering breathtaking views, peaceful backwaters, and rich biodiversity. A houseboat ride here is a must for a truly relaxing experience. Perfect for nature lovers and travelers seeking serenity
Thanveer M — Google review
Ashtamudi Lake is undeniably one of the most scenic and iconic backwater destinations in Kerala. The views are breathtaking — especially during sunrise or sunset. Houseboats cruising through the narrow canals, the reflections of coconut palms on the still water, and the peaceful vibe make it a serene spot for visitors and locals alike. 🌅🛶🌴 However, it’s disheartening to see parts of the lake affected by pollution. Plastic waste and untreated sewage in certain areas really take away from its natural charm. More consistent efforts are needed to preserve this beautiful ecosystem. If cleaned and maintained well, Ashtamudi has the potential to be a world-class natural getaway. Let’s hope for more sustainable tourism and care from both authorities and visitors.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Ashtamudi Kayal, Kerala's second-largest lake, and it was an unforgettable experience! The lake's tranquil waters, surrounded by lush plants, mangroves and coconut trees, offer a perfect setting for relaxation. The highlight of my trip was the houseboat cruise, which allowed me to explore the lake's canals and witness the unique biodiversity. I was fascinated by the traditional Chinese fishing nets (Chinavala) scattered across the lake. I thoroughly enjoyed my boat ride, taking in the breathtaking views and spotting various bird species. If you're looking for a peaceful getaway, Ashtamudi Kayal is a must-visit destination!

Ashtamudi Lake, often called the gateway to Kerala’s backwaters, is a vast and scenic waterbody located in Kollam district. Its name literally means “eight coned”, referring to the lake’s eight arms or channels that stretch out like a palm leaf. This lake is the second largest in Kerala and is famous for its serene backwater cruises, traditional houseboats, and lush greenery along its banks. Coconut groves, Chinese fishing nets, mangroves, and rich biodiversity make it a paradise for nature lovers. It also holds cultural and economic importance, as it has been a historic trade hub and supports local livelihoods through fishing, coir making, and inland navigation.

A 400-meter path leads visitors to this large cascade of water with a natural pool for swimming.
Located between Tamil Nadu and Kerala, Manalar Waterfalls is a seasonal, slow-moving waterfall in the Western Ghats. It is also known as Achankovil Falls. At 70 feet, it provides an amazing view after the monsoon season. It tops the list of stunning waterfalls in Kerala as Kumbhavurutty never fails to captivate tourists. You can hear the gush of the waters even as you drive there. Steps have been carved into the rocks to help visitors climb to the top of the waterfall. Due to the proximity of the waterfalls to the Konni forest, many wild animals can be seen there too. The Kerala Forest Department has also established an eco-contact centre which is run by the Manalar-Kumbhavurutty Vana Samrakshana Samithy. The area is popular among trekkers.

A couple of weeks back, I had the chance to visit Khumavurity Waterfalls near Achankovil with my family, and it was an absolutely refreshing experience. Hidden amidst the lush greenery of the Western Ghats, this spot is still relatively untouched and offers a perfect escape from the busy routines of daily life. The journey itself was enjoyable—surrounded by thick forests, winding roads, and the cool mountain breeze. Once we reached the falls, the sight of water cascading down the rocky slopes into clear pools was truly mesmerizing. The sound of the rushing water combined with the chirping of birds created a soothing atmosphere. What made the experience even more special was the peaceful, less-crowded environment. It felt safe and comfortable to spend time with family, especially since children could enjoy the shallow areas under supervision. We even packed some snacks and sat by the rocks, enjoying nature at its best. If you are someone who loves nature, waterfalls, or simply wants a serene outing with family or friends, I would definitely recommend a trip to Khumavurity Waterfalls. It’s a hidden gem worth exploring, especially for those visiting Achankovil and nearby regions. Tips for visitors: • Carry drinking water and light snacks. • Wear comfortable footwear suitable for walking on rocks. • Best to visit during monsoon or just after, when the water flow is strong. • Keep the place clean and respect the natural surroundings.

I had a very disappointing experience at Chickeys. The staff was extremely rude and arrogant, behaving as if they were doing us a favor by taking the order. When we politely requested if the food could be delivered to our table right in front of the outlet, we were told in a very disrespectful tone to come back after 15 minutes, and that they “don’t deliver.” To top it off, when we mistakenly paid ₹3 less, instead of handling it kindly, the staff reacted very rudely and made a scene over it. Overall, it was a very unpleasant visit. Customer service needs serious improvement here. Not recommended.

One of the top restaurants in Kollam ,this place truly needs no introduction! The food is absolutely delicious, especially the Biryani which is a must try. We also had the chicken fry and another chicken dish (we had asked for honey-glazed chicken, though it was called something else on the menu can't recall the exact name). Regardless, it was juicy, flavorful, and exceeded our expectations. The ambiance, food quality, and service are all top-notch. There's ample parking available, and the location is very convenient close to the city center. Definitely a must-visit spot in Kollam!

Easily one of the best biryanis I have ever had! The quality and flavor are absolutely top-tier, making every bite a delight. While the taste is exceptional, I felt the quantity was a bit less for the price. A more generous portion would make this experience perfect. Also, a small tip for others: you'll need to ask for pappadam, as it's not served by default. Despite these minor points, the incredible taste makes this place a must-visit for any biryani lover!

Absolutely Worth the Hype! Visited after seeing its high Google rating, and it truly lives up to the reputation. Arrived around 2 PM and had to wait about 15 minutes for a seat — totally worth it. Ordered their Special Mutton Biriyani, and it was nothing short of heavenly. Every bite was packed with flavor, and the tenderness of the meat was just perfect. We recently visited Ramees and had a decent experience overall. The food was okay, but there were a few things worth noting. We tried both the chicken and mutton biriyani. The chicken biriyani was quite good—the meat was tender and flavorful, and the spices were balanced well. The mutton biriyani also had a nice flavor, but we were a bit disappointed to find a lot of small bones mixed throughout the rice. That made it harder to enjoy, especially if you’re dining with kids—definitely something they could improve on in terms of safety and presentation. One thing we really appreciated was the ambiance. The restaurant had a warm, inviting feel that reminded us of a typical Hyderabadi restaurant—from the decor to the music, it had a familiar charm that made the meal more enjoyable. All in all, while the food wasn’t outstanding, it wasn’t bad either. We’re hoping to go back again and explore more of the menu—there’s definitely potential here!

One of the best in kollam, we tried the dinner and it was fantastic, i appreciate the service and the taste of the food as well, Try there mutton items, its so good. But all of the above, the oil is a bit highly added allover the food. Concern this, if you are on a diet, else try everything as you can. Happy appetite..

The service at this restaurant was pretty good. We came on a rainy night and there was someone with an umbrella to take us inside so that we don't get wet. The waiters and the staff were very kind and they were super attentive, which was good. What I have to say, the biggest letdown was the food. I've eaten at a couple of places, a couple in Kollam, a couple in Parippally, and the best spot for me personally in terms of what I look at, which is quantity served, the quality of the food, and the price. The restaurant that has met all three of those expectations is Grandeur in Parippally, this Ramees restaurant, it was really a hit on all three. We also ordered chicken biriyani and not only was it pricey, the quantity served was so much lower compared to Grandeur and the taste was very bland. There wasn’t much flavor in the biriyani. The quantity of the curries was also low. We tried a couple of different curries and I think we got the chili chicken as well. It just didn't taste that good. It didn't taste bad, it just tasted a bit bland. It didn't have quite the flavor I was expecting that I've tasted from these other restaurants. Overall, it's more expensive, you get less food, and the food doesn't taste as good. It was really a letdown. The last time I ate at Ramees was like four years ago, and I remember it being better. I don't know what happened in those past four years for the overall quality to go down. Perhaps it's a different chef, I'm not sure on, but if you're really hungry and you just want to eat a spot, you can stop here, but if you really want tasty, high quality dishes that aren’t overpriced. I would go to Grandeur in Parippally. We go there as a family consistently, and we're not a family that eats out a lot, so you can really get an idea of how good the food is there. I think if this Ramees location can work on taste and quality it would improve the food so much. Uploaded a couple pics from our lunch at granduer for comparison incase anyone was exploring options

All Spice in Kollam offers a lovely dining experience, thanks to its excellent ambience and prime location right in the heart of the city. The interiors are tastefully done, with a modern and cosy vibe that makes it a great spot for casual outings, family dinners, or even small get-togethers. I tried a few dishes during my visit, and the burger definitely stood out- juicy, well-seasoned, and served with a generous portion of fries. It was satisfying and worth the price. However, I was a bit disappointed with the much-talked-about kappa biriyani. While the presentation was good, the flavour didn’t quite hit the mark, and it felt a bit underwhelming overall. Also, the pricing for that particular dish felt slightly on the higher side considering the taste and portion. the service was polite and the overall atmosphere made the visit enjoyable. All Spice has great potential and is definitely worth checking out, especially for its ambiance and location. Just wish they would fine-tune some of the dishes to match the vibe they’re going for.

I liked the new location with ample parking space. The setup is interesting as they’ve combined a restaurant with a store that sells chocolates, biscuits, and other items – I even noticed fresh fish kept in a cooler, possibly for customers to choose and have it cooked (though I’m not entirely sure about that). I tried the Mutton Biriyani, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment for me – bland and lacking any distinct flavor. While I don’t doubt the quality, being a Supreme Restaurant, the taste just didn’t justify the price. Hoping to try other items in the future for a better experience.

Restaurant
Masala Square Restaurant is a popular spot for large family gatherings, offering affordable and delicious food in a cool ambiance. It's recommended to arrive early to ensure availability of all menu items. The restaurant is conveniently located for beachgoers and those returning from house boating trips, boasting an inviting atmosphere and delectable cuisine at reasonable prices. Additionally, it features a prayer area for Muslim patrons.
Great place for large(10+) family eat outs.. mostly crowded as the food is very cheap and the ambience is pretty cool(except for the crowd!!) Tastes great at very low prices, but better go early if you like everything on menu to be available! Great for a touring or traveling group. Gets very crowded on weekends and holidays. Has a prayer area for Islamic brothers.

Masala Square's is situated in the right place where people go for their beach rides or come back from their House boating, Ambience is Extremely Good, the Type of work done inside the restaurant is really catchy. The Food has Got their Delicious touch to the Ambience, the Pricing is Really Good, as well as the quantity. Happy Place for Munching :')

I got in at lunchtime and ordered chicken kuzhimanthi and fresh lime juice. Both items are good. They give a large plate full of kuzhimanthi rice which is excess for me. The one thing that I got a problem is with the FLIES in the restaurant. TOO MANY are there. One fly around, three comes back.......🐝 They have arranged a fly trap but not useful............😂😂 They got enough parking space also............👮🚙

Near KSRTC bus stand Kollam. You can see Ashtamudi lake from this restaurant. They only serve two or three types of food items( like kuzhimanthi,biriyani..) and food is not that good. customer service is just ok..This restaurant has every facilities a good restaurant should have ,great interiors, Clean and cozy atmosphere,.. but they don't seems like utilizing it. I ordered fresh watermelon juice. It was not made from fresh fruit. And the kuzhimanthi didn't had any flavour at all. They should improve the quality of the food items they provide.

Nicely located near the bus and ferry station. Had a prayer hall. Had fresh juice while waiting for others to join. They prepared juices without sugar, ice and water. Good parking

First thing, very good service, all of them behaving quite well. Really liked the ambience. Tasted mutton masala square special, kuzhimandi, nd beef masala square special at differnet days. Satisfied with the kuzhumandi nd beef masala square special nd have to suggest others to taste that both. But am really unhappy with the special mutton masala square, it costs 350rs fr one plate, nd qauntity of pieces is too less, adding more grevy to the dish nd adding unwanted items doesnt satisfies the coustmer. Hope they will correct the neccesery, as i complied this to the one who served us.
