Shopping mall
Shopping
Providence Place is a modern and vibrant multilevel retail center located in the heart of the city. It offers a wide array of well-known brand-name stores, casual dining options, and even a multiplex cinema for entertainment. The mall also provides various activities such as watching mimes perform in Memorial Park, enjoying jazz performances on Steeple Street, or participating in ballroom dancing. Additionally, visitors can take a gondola ride with La Gondola for an unforgettable experience.
Nice shopping mall in a small walkable city of Providence. Experience (a little bit of) city life in the relaxing and quiet state of Rhode Island. I missed the days of spending weekends pushing stroller in the mall, enjoying some food, doing some shopping, watching movies. One time, my wife and myself were relaxing with our baby daughter sitting in the stroller. A nice old gentleman stopped by and tried to make a small talk. Before he left, he asked "Don't you know who I am?". We had no clue. He must be disappointed that we did know him being Mr. Feinstein. To be honest, I am still not sure who he was. Must be a billionaire/ rich famous person. :-)
Julian Z — Google review
Mall looks a bit dated but it has all the major mall stores and the some. Great food court.
Benjamin H — Google review
Wow, what a fantastic mall. We walked over to look for 1 thing and found a half a dozen unique stores we just loved. This rivals some of the biggest malls we've been to including Tysons Corner, VA.
Shawn F — Google review
The mall looks nice from the outside but inside looks a bit abandoned, but that was just my first perception. Nice shops and dining options.
M. B — Google review
This is a unique shopping place. The shops are all on this. The top floors and the parking is at the lower level, which is actually street level. So you see the parking lots before you actually see the stores, I thought that was very unique, very funny, but anyway, it was okay like many other places, it had 1 or 2 unique stores there. Well, you can make your own soaps and perfume. And also a craft store where you could do your own poor over a um a figurine.
Mimi R — Google review
It's a great mall, very extensive. Love that there is a movie theater and a Dave N Busters. Fun stores as well. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars though is because a mouse ran past me in the food court
Chosen O — Google review
We really love this mall! It’s always clean, has a great mix of stores, and feels welcoming every time we visit. It’s one of the few places left with that classic mall atmosphere. We truly hope it never closes down like so many others — it’s a special place for our community!
MZ6 S — Google review
Really nice mall—huge, with lots of stores and plenty of parking. The parking rates are very reasonable, which is a big plus. Just be sure to remember your parking spot and which elevator you take, since sometimes you’ll need two elevators to get from the garage into the mall. Once you figure out the layout, getting around is a breeze. The food court is average, but the variety of stores makes this a great place to shop.

The Cheesecake Factory is an American chain restaurant known for its extensive menu and signature cheesecakes. The restaurant offers sizable portions and a wide variety of dishes, including desserts and American cuisine. Customers praise the romantic ambiance created by the decor, lighting, and music.
The menu is amazing! Such good food and of course...the cheesecake is phenomenal, no matter which one you pick. Our server was great and we didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive. We definitely will be back!
Tim J — Google review
Guys, I can’t express how good this restaurant was!!! I have eye problem with bright lights but this restaurant, the light were on perfect brightness! The food is delicious, the appetizers, the cheesecake. Everything is so good, even the bread!. And I love how they pay attention to the extra details you put on the reservation!. The roof of the place is amazing. I loved everything and definitely coming back again. The workers are quick and well spoken, they are so sweet and nice, it gives comfort 😭❤️❤️❤️ Thank you Cheesecake Factory
Francesca C — Google review
The restaurant gives you everything the chain promises, good food and amazing cheese cake. We were there on a Saturday night with a group for my daughter's birthday. There was a 2 hour wait for our party of 7 as they explained when we called that they dont take reservations over 6 people, so be aware of this if you want to have a family dinner here. It is loud in there when busy, so be aware of this as well. And you'll have to pay to park. While this place absolutely is great, there's better places that aren't chains to have dinner in Providence within literal walking distance.
Katie C — Google review
The Cheesecake Factory has gone so down hill. Wow. Everything about this place has gotten worse. The service is horrendous. The food is smaller, prices higher and the kicker it tastes horrible. The quality has taken a nose dive. At their price points size and quality does not have to diminish. My CF famous Chicken plate was like eating rubber. I told the waitress. And I have never turned back food anywhere. It was actually embarrassing and she was like what do you want me to do. It was decided to take off bill so I just didn't eat The manager was informed and the waitress and her stuck their fingers in it to see if it was indeed rubbery. Yes stuck fingers in. At the desk to check it. Like I would spit out the chicken and not eat because I enjoy not eating and watching my family eat at restaurants. As bad as this place was tonight I am shocked that it is not out of business. I should have known. There were signs. Plenty of them. When seated the server did not even check on us for 16 minutes. 0. I have never in my entire life waited 16 minutes at a table without being talked to. It took another 12 to get our drinks. So we are at 28 minutes. I should have known right then. By the time we got our appetizer and finished it we were almost an hour and 15 minutes in. Then the food. We waited another 30 minutes. We were then told it was being plated. Which means it was done. But we didn't see our food for another 18 minutes. The waitress was talking at another table knowing we were being plated. No wonder why I had rubber chicken it was sitting under a hot lamp most likely and the mashed potatoes were dry and lukewarm at best. Everyone's food was not good and was average at best. And all the main sides were lukewarm. Something I expect at a local chain fast food restaurant. Not at a place that serves $25 appetizers and $50 meals. This place used to be pretty amazing. It is that no longer. My wife's salmon was ok. The best thing here were the fries. So if you enjoy $200 dollar fries then you will love it. When your paying 150+ you expect good service and food. End of story. Not ok. And after the whole experience the manager did not think it was a good idea to come by the table. Even though my plate had rubber chicken on it and chicken that was a quarter of the size of the chicken that was on the same plate next to me and across from me. You could visually see that mine was way off. She put her fingers in so she knew all about my thin rubber chicken. She could see and feel why I couldn't eat it. So I sat and watched everyone eat and still no visit. I ate on the way home at a fast food place. Cheesecake Factory should be ashamed that this is the product they are putting forward from service to food. Shame on them. If they don't recognize this quickly they too will be out of business. Be better CF.
Shaun H — Google review
Food was good. Way too pricey for what it was. I was not hungry. However, I grudgingly attended a birthday dinner. I regret spending all that money for food I took home and didn't even eat 😩. The waitress was friendly enough until I asked her about the $60 tip they automatically attached to the total of our food bill. She explained that for a table of 8. They normally automatically add gratuity. I was already aware of this. However, the 8th person was a baby under 1-year-old. I didn't know that the baby would've been added. Seeing that she ate from her mom's plate. I guess I'm not up to date on current events of the food industry.
Shay W — Google review
Besides our server being decent, there was nothing absolutely phenomenal about this place. We drove an hour away (for clothes at the mall not solely for food here) and we could have gone to chilis for better food. Our plates were dirty when we sat down, they took 15 min to even bring us water which usually thats the first thing you get when you sit down… and then the wait took an hour and 15 min to get a table that had crumbs all over it when we sat down. To be fair, i get it. It was busy. Everybody and their mother was here. Like you all do not need to celebrate your birthday at the cheesecake factory. This is not Nobu or Tao. I ordered a yuzu drop drink and it came in the wrong glass because they ran out. And all of the plates and utensils were dirty. We asked for fresh ones and there was even more food specs on it. What a ride it was. Never coming back. The hartford CT one is better.
Alexandra N — Google review
As soon as we sat down we noticed the silverware was dirty, as well as our napkins having orange stuff on them. Our cups were also dirty and we were not offered straws. We watched a table next to us leave and another one come with nobody wiping of the table or sweeping in between customers. The environment as a whole was super dirty and uncomfortable. The steak was mostly fat and the fries tasted like they were reheated in a microwave. When the server was notified he did not seem phased as if this happens often. Overall an unpleasant experience with food that was far too high in price for what it was worth.
Kenzie B — Google review
Food was good but lengthy wait to receive it. Made reservations for 8 but were seated in a very tight booth that should have been for 4 or 6. When asked for more comfortable accommodations party was told we would be placed on wait list for between 30-45 minutes.

Went there for the 4th of July waterfire show. Since this was a last minute plan we could not do the gondola ride with the waterfire as they are booked well in advance. It’s a good family outing with lots of food, drinks and street side performances. Was disappointed that there were no fireworks around for 4th July. Lots of paid parking places available.

Lovely and artsy downtown area. Beautiful walking path along the river with so much to see. Great area to walk around and find food. Like any city, it's cramped, parking is tough, and there's trash floating in the river. Didn't stop us from enjoying our visit.

Given this is my 1st in Rhode Island this was one of my favorite parts of the downtown area. As you by from the street and look down the view is very nice. As you make your way down the view is even better. There's a restaurant and you can walk underneath the bridges. At the it must be beautiful, due to time I was unable to see it during the evening. Overall if your in the downtown area definitely check out thid park you won't regret it.

WaterFire is a captivating art installation and street fair in Providence that was created in 1994 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of First Night Providence. This free event takes place on the three rivers that converge in downtown Providence, where 100 small bonfires are set ablaze on the rivers while ambient music plays from the river banks. The flickering fires create a romantic atmosphere, casting a warm glow over the entire river.
I attended WaterFire on the Fourth of July and had a wonderful experience. The event was thoughtfully organized and offered a memorable alternative to traditional fireworks. Nearly 100 bonfires lined the rivers, creating an atmosphere that felt both peaceful and inspiring. The combination of music, firelight, and the crowd’s energy made the evening feel special. It was easy to walk along the riverwalk and take in different perspectives, and the vendors added a nice touch without feeling overwhelming. I appreciated how the event blended art and community in such a unique way. Highly recommend experiencing WaterFire if you’re in Providence.

Great event, different stands with food and drinks. A good walking stretch with music and food. The fire baskets throughout the street are mesmerizing. Perfect for romantic dates or outing with friends. Enjoy! We parked at the State house, it was free and no traffic in or out. Enjoy!
Nina C — Google review
Support your local art scene!! A long standing institution in Providence, it's a great event to enjoy community, vendors, drinks, and just be in the moment and appreciate the city in a unique way. It's such a cool thing that has been happening for 30 years. Unfortunately, the full lighting on 5/31/25 was not super crowded and the coffers were looking low. Granted, it was a cold night - but with everything going on in the world, it's worth coming together as a community and not forgetting tradition and togetherness.
Michael G — Google review
WaterFire in the heart of Providence is pure magic—flickering rivers of fire with over 80 bonfires, ethereal music drifting through the evening air, and shimmering reflections gliding across the water. It's a breathtaking marriage of art, fire, and humans that ignites the city and makes it an unforgettable dreamscape on Saturdays. Be sure to check the event calendar beforehand, and keep in mind that parking will be tough.
Manali S — Google review
I visited in the fall, which happened to coincide with the Brown University homecoming day. WaterFire is an enjoyable experience if you do not mind a crowd on a night with nice weather. People of all ages enjoy the festivities. While some areas are dimly lit so the fires can have a visual impact, most walkways are easy to navigate despite the lighting. Parking may be difficult to find on the city streets. While visiting area of Providence, I park at the State House, which allows free parking when not in session.
Abigail E — Google review
It was cool. Once you got the hx of the festival it made more sense. High light was the robot 🤖 . Down side no food vendors that catered to vegan or vegetarians. The magic show guy ignored all the brown and black kids (the very few that were there) and it was awkward.
Sutarshia J — Google review
It's a great time for everyone, live music, every vendor you can think of, alot of close restaurants and bars, weather you go early and catch the lightning ceremony or just getting there after dusk.

Amica Mutual Pavilion, also known as the AMP Center, is a 14,000-sq. ft. arena in downtown Providence that hosts a variety of events including concerts, food festivals, and sports like PC basketball and the Providence Bruins. It is also home to Stars on Ice and hosts functions such as the Rhode Island Home Show. The venue offers a bustling scene with numerous hotels and residential living nearby. Despite its smaller size, even the nosebleed seats offer decent views of events.
Great venue. Been there for several different events and it's always fun. Parking is easy and reasonably priced, same for food services. Seats are typical but comfy. Def be back.

The good, the bad & that's so Providence...I haven't been here since I was a URI student and we came bussed in groups to watch the Rams play against the PC Friars. I was however raised in Providence and it will always be "The Civic Center" in my head. It would be nice if there were signs directing people to the structure Right Next To The Building, which cost $25 instead of allowing GREEDY "Privately Owned" Down city rip off artists flash signs with strategically placed cones for $40 parking spaces..... Perhaps the most insulting parking violation I saw were the cars parked directly in front which were supposed to be for Handicap persons: most had no placard and the young men walking/entering them looked able bodied to me. No tickets, no worries & plenty of police not noticing... I was super excited to attend my first Hockey Game!! Even though it was like just like watching the Boston Bruins meltdown on my couch, I am a supporter of all our local teams. If they suck, they Rhode Island Suck!!! Other than that, the bathrooms were clean enough, it's a nice spot, the morale was great, the concession stand prices should be illegal and the Pro Shops are priced as if average people have Pro Bank Accounts. ⭐ It's times like this that make me feel blessed not to have any children I have to buy a $20 popcorn, $7 soda, $15 hot dog, etc, etc...

I’ve been going here for 20 years and it is always a great experience. Everyone there is so helpful and nice and genuinely likes to be there. Any issues I’ve had there had been fixed immediately. Concessions can be expensive but it’s reasonably so because if you go anywhere else they’re even more expensive than here so I don’t blame them. The staff from the Providence Prince is amazing and from the Amica Pavilion security is quick and easy tickets are easy. The views are amazing. The seats are surprisingly nice and I’ve been going here for 20 years and I will continue to go.

Loved this place!, very easy parking cost 20 dollars which is very high but it was very close to the front doors, I didn't once worry about my vehicle being broken into here either! , I came here for youth hockey game before the providence bruins played their game . The staff here were very helpful and made the experience alot better , the facility looked very clean and the food and drinks here seemed pretty sanitary which got me to purchase more so good job on that!, facility is very big and I wasn't freezing at all during the game like alot of other ice rinks. I will definitely be returning here soon for another function and can't wait to experience another event here .🥰🥰

Jacky's Waterplace & Sushi Bar is a local pan-Asian chain that offers a variety of classic entrees and sushi in a contemporary and funky setting. Located with views of Waterplace Park and the Woonasquatucket River, it's an ideal spot for big groups, offering Japanese cuisine and creative sushi. The restaurant also serves exotic cocktails alongside its sushi entrees, fusion rolls, and house specialties.
Food was absolutely amazing! The decor and ambiance was perfectly balanced between classy and cozy. I didn't try the sushi this time, but the seafood egg drop soup was very rich and flavorful. The steamed scallop dish was a highlight for me! I highly recommend it. I'll definitely be coming back!

The food was delicious and the service was excellent! My mom and I shared an appetizer, sushi roll, entree, and a bottle of wine for less than $100. Our server, Keeley, was such a pleasure to interact with, gave us excellent food recommendations, and was cautious about my food allergy. I'll certainly go back next time I'm in Providence!

Service and views are good, food wasn’t the greatest. I’ve come here a few times back in 2020 but this time the food wasn’t great. The sushi and salmon was good but the dumplings sample was nothing close to good. The waitress saw the plate full only 2 pieces missing and asked me if she should bring over her manager, I didn’t think that was necessary. I would give this restaurant one more chance but this last visit was disappointing.

The sushi here was absolutely amazing — fresh, beautifully presented, and delicious. The service was phenomenal from start to finish. Our server, Jacky, was so kind and helpful. She recommended a few sushi options that were absolutely on point and really made our experience special. Will definitely be coming back!!

Jacky’s Waterplace is a terrific place for special events. I’ve been here for birthday dinners with eight people to holiday work parties with dozens of people. For groups of eight, the restaurant has round tables that allow everyone to participate in a single conversation, rather than only the people sitting next to them. If you’re looking for a place to have a dinner with a group around 7-8PM before heading out to the bars to celebrate a birthday or other occasion, this is a great option. The food and drinks are consistently very good. The sushi pizza was a big hit for our group. The crust of the pizza is thin and is similar to a very crispy scallion pancake or outside of an egg roll. The crust is topped with either salmon or tuna; our group went with the salmon. On top of that is tonkatsu sauce, spicy mayonnaise, tobiko, and jalapeños. I’d definitely recommend giving the sushi pizza a try as an appetizer. The walnut shrimp is also excellent. The “fruit mayonnaise sauce” the shrimp is served in may sound unusual, but it balances the flavor of the lightly battered fried shrimp really well. The server was attentive and the robot (yes, robot!) that assisted him was very entertaining. Not only does the robot bring sushi to customers’ tables, it also brings fried ice cream and sings the Happy Birthday to You song (before rolling itself away with a message that reads “Back to Work”)!

Very pretty restaurant, valet parking and good sushi. It's was a slow rainy night so there was no excuse for our server not being more available to us. I will say, what she lacked in attentiveness she made up for in personality.

We had an unforgettable experience at The Capital Grille in Providence. From the moment we arrived, the level of service and hospitality was beyond impressive. We were celebrating a birthday for my wife’s cousin, and the entire staff made sure it was a special evening from start to finish. The food was absolutely incredible—from the appetizers to the entrées, everything was prepared perfectly. The flavors, presentation, and quality of the ingredients were top-tier, as you’d expect from a place like this. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted and delivered with care. What really made the night stand out, though, was the service. The attention to detail was above and beyond. The manager personally came to check on us multiple times and made sure everything was just right. It wasn’t just a quick hello -- She was genuinely involved in making sure our evening went smoothly, which made a big difference. Mr. Tom, who took care of us during dinner, was fantastic. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive. He anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, and you could tell he truly cared about providing a great dining experience. As a special touch, they even gave our guest of honor a tour of the kitchen, which was such a thoughtful surprise and really capped off the night in a memorable way. It’s rare to see that level of engagement and hospitality in a fine dining setting. The Capital Grille delivered on every level—food, service, atmosphere, and hospitality. Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion or just want an exceptional night out, this is the place to go in Providence. We’ll definitely be back.

I was so disappointed in my experience here. I had a reservation for 7pm. I arrived a few minutes earlier. I came in and they said we will seat you in a few short minutes. Didn’t offer me a seat, didn’t ask me to sit at the bar and have a drink while I waited. Nothing. 25 mins later they found me a table. At first they offered me a table this establishment should not have which is a throwaway table. This table was next to the door so basically everyone is gonna be passing by you. It should not exist. After I turned it down that’s when they found me a proper table. Nobody that was waiting with me wanted that table. I had the roasted chicken with a side of creamed corn. The corn was not creamed at all. It was just boiled corn with a water sauce on top. Super disappointing. The roasted chicken was okay nothing special. I was mostly excited for the creamed corn but that was a disappointment. I had the coconut pie for dessert and it didn’t taste like anything. The only good thing about this whole experience was my server Dami. Such a professional and a pro at what she does. Treated me so well. All in all I probably won’t be back. It was a mid experience from beginning to end.

Excellent, fine dining experience. Enjoyed a dry aged porterhouse, medium rare with truffle fries. The waiter was professional and helpful. They have a good wine list and are famous for their stoli doli pineapple vodka drinks, which can be addictive! The new location does not seem as cozy as the old one across the street but the newer one does provide much better views of the city. I was a bit surprised to see diners with shorts and not dressed for such a nice place but there doesn’t seem to be an enforced dress code. Overall, it’s pricey but the quality is there. I’ve posted a picture of my 24 oz porterhouse. I believe it’s the best choice on the menu. The local oysters were also delicious. The bread basket is really something special, with warm bread and freshly made creamy butter. The desert menu was varied with crème brûlée being particularly tasty. I suggest you do not over-order, as the steaks are delicious but filling. I’ve had the calamari before and it really is one of the best in the state and puts Hemenway’s calamari to shame. They have valet parking right off memorial boulevard in front of the restaurant.

Italian restaurant
Restaurant
Rosalina is an intimate Italian restaurant located in downtown Providence, offering a blend of modern Italian dishes with a touch of Rhode Island flavor. The cozy space features soft lighting and banquettes, creating an upscale and contemporary ambiance. Owned by Lauren Lynch, the restaurant is known for its signature appetizer, the Pizzette Fritte, which pays homage to doughboys with perfectly fried dough topped with pomodoro sauce, pecorino romano cheese, scallions, and olive oil.
Best place I've been in a while. Service was great, the atmosphere was lovely and calm and fun. The FOOD was fresh from the bread and ricotta to the espresso martini shots. The tagliatelle was phenomenal, and the shrimp dish was great too. The mousse cake was balanced and enjoyable. So happy to have found this place.

Our group of five really enjoyed this smallish restaurant. It was quiet enough but still roomy for our group. We each thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

Went here for the first time for date night. The atmosphere was nice & cozy. It was decorated in pink holiday decor. The staff was friendly and attentive. The food was incredible! We ended up cleaning both plates. (The squid ink spaghetti with crab & the swordfish) Will definitely come back here again.

Extremely Terrible Experience. I ordered the pork chop, and I waited for over 30 minutes to get it. The portion is big, big disaster! It is very very hard to chew. I would prefer if the portion wasn't so large; at least I could suffer a little less. It's difficult for you to imagine that pork can have such an unappetizing taste. If you want to waste your money, just come!!! Additional Remarks: If you do not want to pay tips for this unsatisfactory experience, the waiter will send an email to your school or company. I have never seen a situation before, that’s ridiculous. AGAIN, DO NOT COME. The positive reviews are sometimes not true, but bad reviews are always true.

The food here was very good and large portions. It's on the more affordable side for the area and everything we had was excellent. I highly recommend.

Had a friend recommend the Bolognese. I feel like I never go to places anyone recommends, but a last minute decision a few weeks later had my wheels spinning about this place, so after a bad experience at another restaurant, we left that place and so called Rosalina's and they were happy to take us 20 minutes later! I absolutely cannot wait to tell my friend I had the Bolo here. It 100% hit every receptor in my brain. It came out piping hot, loaded with meat, everything cooked to perfection, the wine you could smell and taste. So nice! I had the meatballs on the side and everything was 1000% exactly what I was looking for and actually looking forward to coming back! Big ups to Rosalina 🙏

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Roger Williams Park Zoo, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Roger Williams Park Botanical Center. All together, your day would be filled with about 8 hours of non-stop fun.

Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in 40 acres of woodlands, Roger Williams Park Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the country and a model for modern zoo design. The kid-friendly environment offers an opportunity to see over 100 species from around the world, including snow leopards, giraffes, elephants, zebras, red pandas, and more. Visitors can enjoy a petting zoo, wetlands trail, zipline adventure, and even take a ride on a vintage carousel.
This was the first time for my 6 and 4yo to go. They loved it! Wasn't very crowded so that was nice! And all the animals made appearances! My only complaint, was the price of food and how slow it was cooked. But it was tastey for chicken tenders and fries. We appreciated the military discount on entrance price especially with the rising costs of everything. Beautiful, clean, and not over crowded. All around win.

Our recent trip to the Roger Williams Park Zoo was a perfect outing for our family, earning it a solid four out of five stars. My wife and I took our five-year-old daughter, and it was a joy to watch her excitement as we explored. The zoo is incredibly well-suited for families with young children and provides a day full of fun and discovery. For a five-year-old, the highlight was undoubtedly the farmyard area. She absolutely loved brushing the friendly goats and getting to see them up close. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that made her feel connected to the animals. The train ride was another big hit, giving us a playful way to see parts of the zoo while taking a short break from walking. We were also thrilled to see the giraffes towering over us and the elephants in their indoor enclosure. Seeing the golden lion tamarins and the beautiful blue hyacinth macaws in their habitats was also very special. The clear map at the entrance was a huge help, allowing us to easily navigate with our little one and ensure we saw all the animals on her list. The zoo's focus on conservation is a huge plus, and we felt great about supporting their mission. In short, Roger Williams Park Zoo is a fantastic destination for a family outing. It’s a place that creates lasting memories, and we highly recommend it. We can’t wait to go back again soon.

Enjoy going here for the annual Jack-o-lantern Spectacular. The tickets for Spectacular are only available online. We visited during the dinosaur event they were having over the summer as well in addition to the zoo. Love this zoo and the variety of animals. The wild cats and penguins are some of my favorites.

Highly recommended!! Truly incredible experience at the Pumpkin Spectacular! We booked tickets for 8 pm. Arrived with a fast moving line, which had no wait. Check in was a breeze and for a Saturday night it was packed but didn’t feel like so as the trails are wide enough to accommodate a crowd. The pumpkins are amazing to look at, especially the artist carved ones. One of the coolest and most do October bucket list items in New England! We parked above the zoo which was a 10 minute walk to the entrance as it was free. The lines to park were long and do create a wait. Parking is free or you can pay $15 for premium parking which the lot was quite empty for. Bathrooms are available and food trucks of fried dough, adult beverages, snacks etc. Definitely an awesome date night or a fun night out with the family

Best zoo, actually - first real zoo I’ve been to that I can remember. The animals were so beautiful to look at. My favorites were the camels, elephants and giraffes. Very easy to walk around, barely any hills. Being able to interact with some animals was nice too.

A great zoo for all age groups. There is so much to see that you can easily spend the day admiring the incredible collection of animals in a recreated microcosm of their native environment. Easy, leisurely, paved walking paths everyday along with signs and educational info on the various sights before you.

I got to enjoy Halloween Family festival on October 18th. It was great fun and the animals love being photographed. We did not get tickets for the evening pumpkin stroll and plan to do the stroll next year.

My wife and I went for the jack-o-lantern spectacular. This is an annual event held at the zoo in the evening. As always, it was absolutely amazing and outstanding. We both highly recommend it to anyone who wants to bring their children and or just themselves to see pumpkins car in the most artistic and fantastic way possible. There are over 5,000 pumpkins available to see, many of which are carved to be like Museum pieces of Art.

Park
Roger Williams Park is a sprawling 427-acre city park in Providence, Rhode Island, known for its extensive trails, sports facilities, and picturesque picnic spots. The park features a serene pond where visitors can enjoy leisurely rides on swan boats. It is recognized as one of America's top urban parks and was designed by the renowned landscape architect Horace Cleveland.
Great place to go while in Providence for all ages! I took my son here and we went on the carousel, the train ride and then played at the playground. They have a little concession stand with ice cream and drinks which was great. They also had a great walking trail for people that need to walk their baby in their stroller to take a nap! Peaceful and pretty flowers everywhere with great opportunities for photos. Highly recommend!

Roger Williams Park is an absolute gem in Providence! The grounds are beautifully maintained, perfect for a peaceful walk, family picnic, or scenic drive. The zoo is fantastic, especially for kids, and the botanical center is stunning year-round. There’s always something to explore, from swan boats to playgrounds and art installations. It’s a perfect blend of nature, fun, and education — definitely one of the best urban parks in New England!
Mohammed A — Google review
There is lots of territory to cover in the park and it includes both historical sites for armchair scholars and fun stuff for kids. However, it's hard to walk this park. There are no real sidewalks in the park and you have to contend with traffic if you try to go anywhere on foot. Parking was also a challenge on the weekend.
Thomas P — Google review
A great zoo with lots of animals. Alot of construction happening currently that took away from the experience and highly.recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks bc the food is very over priced but the exhibits are well maintained and the animals are easy to locate in their exhibits which can be problematic at other zoos. Kids under 2 are free.

Local resident here. I walk this park all year round and I notice in the fall workers are busy blowing leaves mowing here and there, and picking up branches and debris. But in summer time it's total opposite. The land scape maintenance around trails and flats has been getting worser. They mainly cut grass around popular tourist area like Temple of music...etc. The rest is atrocious! I don't understand the concept of hiring more employees and doing less work. Only people that walk through the park and trails know, tourist driving in their vehicle would never tell the difference it's just a facade.
Weezay J — Google review
So worth all the hype about this place! They have everything inside. You can simply go for a walk or spend the entire day having all sorts of fun! Parking is free all over the park and there’s something for everyone!

A beautiful, sprawling park filled with trees and long trails perfect for walking, hiking and running. There are various routes you can take to extend your run anywhere from 3 to 7 miles. The park has several areas you can visit. I visited a beautiful Japanese village area, along with a nice lake and some playground spots too.

Nestled within the expansive Roger Williams Park, the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center is a hidden gem that transcends the typical botanical garden experience. This vibrant oasis features New England's largest glasshouse display and encompasses four greenhouses, each brimming with diverse plant life. Visitors can wander through enchanting summer and winter gardens, navigate a whimsical rose maze, or relax in a pollinator meadow teeming with life.
We visited on a late Saturday afternoon in mid-June 2025. There was a large parking lot with plenty of spots. The center closed at 4PM and we arrived around 3PM. Last entry is at 3:30. We did pay the $5 (13-64 yr old) and $2 (6-12 yr old, military and 65+). Under 6 was free. There is a little booth with gates next to it as the entrance. If you're not paying attention you could miss it. We did pre-buy our tickets online so we just had to give them in our names and we were good to go. The website had time slots but we were told that this was a left over from COVID and they just haven't updated their website yet. We didn't have much time so we wanted to hit our must dos and headed straight for the green houses. There was a really cool atrium area that was kind of tropical. There was a couple doing what looked like wedding photo shoots in there. There are a bunch of water features as well. Great spot for some photography. There is a large concrete hallway to the right which lead to a bunch of other thematic areas. The kids enjoyed the carnivorous plant exhibit. Not a bunch of variety when we were there but it may have been to time of year as well. My youngest enjoyed the desert area which had tons of different cacti. There is also a outdoor kids play area and indoor play area. We did mess around here for a little bit as there weren't too many little kids around. We did end up heading out to the rose maze area to take a quick look and outdoor areas too. We did spent a little more time here than the natural history museum about 75 mins and the kids were ready to go by the end. I would've totally stayed longer if they weren't closing. We really rush through a lot of it. Overall a great experience and the price was reasonable for what we got. I wish we had more time. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Beautiful place. Friendly staff. Huge tropical plants. Infested with mealy bugs. INFESTED!! It was SO gross and distracting. But it was only $5 and they do have goats. Worth a visit, but don't get too close to anything.

What a gem! We visited because of the Rain Harvest Festival and a concurrent PVD Bike Jam event on a Sunday. After walking around the summer garden and rose maze, we visited the greenhouses, which are the star of the center. The variety of different plants and the well-maintained greenhouses were really impressive. There were tons of spaces to entertain kids and this is clearly a great place for families with young children. Separate from the areas for children, there were lots of serene spots for people to sit and relax. I highly recommend visiting!

A wedding photographer's perspective: Roger Williams Botanical Center is an absolute dream of a wedding venue! I've worked her multiple times and it's always beautiful. The plant list makes for such a unique experience. I also appreciate the location; if you plan for it, you can access other parts of the park for photos. Highly recommended!

After lunch at the Hibachi Grill and Supreme buffet, we went to the Roger Williams Park Botanical Garden. The rainy weather in Rhode Island made the Conservatory Garden the ideal place to spend the afternoon, admiring its beauty, and meeting the three Dwarf Nigerian goats living there with Italian names were fun.

Very inexpensive and great way to spend the afternoon looking at really cool plants. Many of these are the same things you might have in your home but on a much grander scale because they've been growing for years

Oh my goodness, so beautiful!!! 🤩 Plenty of exotic plants and most are in a greenhouse so they stay alive and you can stay warm while browsing at this time of year. Many decorations that suit the plants, especially the ponds and waters, most are big enough to take selfies with. Love the rose maze, even right now, some are still blooming, in the middle, there are even more pretty decorations.

Breakfast restaurant
Nestled in Providence, the Seaplane Diner is a delightful spot that captures the essence of classic American diner culture. With an extensive menu featuring mouthwatering breakfast options, it’s no wonder this place has garnered such a loyal following. Diners rave about their generous portions and delicious flavors, all at wallet-friendly prices. The atmosphere exudes nostalgic Americana with charming vintage decor and juke boxes adding to its character.
After living in Providence for the past 9.5 years, I finally visited Seaplane Diner last weekend. Slightly kicking myself that I slept on this diner for so long! I finally came because someone on Reddit insisted this was the best diner in the state. I totally agree with this person. You walk in and wait to be seated (unless you grab a table at the counter, those are up for grabs). There are about a dozen to 15 booths aligned next to the window and decorations galore. One of my favorite features is the family photos displayed in the front. This shows me the diner cared for the families of staff that work for them (a great sign!). I had the Seaplane Breakfast, a short stack of pancakes, and linguica. All cooked very well, if not a little salty (but that’s why the ice water is so refreshing!). Coffee is refilled often and food comes out swiftly. Can’t wait to visit again

Small neighborhood diner serving breakfast and lunch with good food and good prices. Menu is typical with all the traditional choices. 12 tables and counter dining available. They still have plastic screens up from covid days so the dining area looks choppy. Busy with locals when I was there. Several customers were on a first name basis with the waitress. Always a good sign, Eggs, home fries and pancakes were all good. If you are a diner enthusiast this place should be on your list. Note early closing on the weekends.

Exactly what you want from a diner. Easy to get to from 95 and easy to get back on the highway. The service was fast and friendly and the food was hot and good. We had the stuffed french toast and the eggs benedict. The coke was a little flat but it wasn’t anything to be upset about. Loved this little diner and would happily go back when I’m in the area again.

An ancient diner on the side of a lonely road. Swivel stools at the counter, and a few booths. Offering breakfast perfection! Welcoming, friendly staff. Comfortable seating. Quick service, and the best tasting eggs and bacon I have had in a while. Coffee was hot and fresh and kept coming. Lots of regulars, and lots of menu choices. Ample parking area on the side. Great choice! We saw a very dusty Uma Thurman come in and sit at the counter and ask for a glass of water…

5 stars are not enough for this place! I had the stuffed French toast and it was easily some of the best I’ve ever had. Very reasonable prices and huge portions. Staff are all friendly and the service was quick. The restaurant was full and we maybe waited 10 minutes for a table, which was well worth it. They have an expansive menu to please even the pickiest eater’s taste. We ran into a local and he said this is the best breakfast spot in the city. So thankful we ventured off the beaten path to find this gem!

New American restaurant
CAV Restaurant is a unique eatery and antique shop in Providence, offering an upscale global menu, a historic bar, and live music. The restaurant has been a staple in the city's culinary scene since 1989 and is known for its eclectic charm and remarkable dishes. It features a curated collection of antiques, exotic furniture, and dazzling crystal chandeliers that create an ambiance reminiscent of dining at an eccentric, affluent aunt's residence.
There’s a really rich food culture in RI and CAV is one of them. The food , the art filled environment with statues from all around the world and great service are all things I really appreciate and to get this all under one roof was an awesome experience! I live in NYC so I m somewhat jaded by eating out in other cities because I don’t feel like there’s a comparison to our rich and diverse food culture. However, this place made me question my own thoughts! Big portions too. I’ll definitely be back. Go here!!!

Summary: Honestly expected a lot better. At the price, definitely would not recommend. This experience was bad enough that I felt obligated to leave a review, even if I have mostly stopped reviewing any restaurants. As others have said, the ambiance was lively and the decor was interesting, but everything else was mediocre at best. Poulet aux Poires--This supposedly 'award-winning' dish was the worst offender. Pears poached in wine were interesting, but that was it. Ginger pear sauce was watery and did not stick to anything, chive dumplings were about what you'd get at a slightly subpar local Asian market, and chicken breast was among the driest I've had anywhere—it was difficult to cut and extremely fibrous on the inside. Could not finish this, and the person I shared this meal with had one bite and agreed it was outrageous for the price. DO NOT ORDER. Bread service--butter/cream had a strange aftertaste and no flavor; bread was average Service--feel like we were treated very strangely--at one point we asked for the check, the guy went and told our waiter, and then he essentially ignored it and stood around/went around doing other things for a good ten minutes before finally giving us our check. The restaurant was not busy either, so I was very confused. 'Jumbo' Crab Cake--for that price, I expect more crab over other vegetables and such, although the chunks had good flavor. Duck Confit--slightly above average price for the amount of duck (I think Circe nearby has better value if I remember correctly), rest of dish was alright.

First time in CAV and it was outstanding! Our server was on-point, the artifacts are amazing, and the food…. The food was excellent. We started with a gin martini and a lychee martini. Fresh and delicious. Perfectly poured. Then apps were walnut crusted Brie and calamari. So good. And large portions for the money. I got the scallops and shrimp, while hubby got the bolognese. I’ll let the picture speak for themselves. I HIGHLY recommend this place. You won’t regret it. Also met one of the owners, John, who was so nice! Make this a must stop when you’re in Providence.

What a great find! The place has a super cute, chic antique vibe — perfect for a date night. We showed up with our two kids instead, and surprisingly, it still worked out great! The food was delicious and beautifully plated, and the service was genuinely top-notch — friendly, quick, and professional. The whole place has this cozy speakeasy feel that makes you want to stay a little longer. Definitely going on our “must-return” list (and maybe next time, without the kids 😄).

This has quickly become one of my favorite restaurants. I love the food, the decor, and the overall vibe. The seating feels private and cozy, the ambiance is beautifully done, and the service, especially the waitstaff is top-notch. It’s truly a hidden gem!
Martin F — Google review
CAV Restaurant is a thoughtful place. Every component of the restaurant seems to be articulately assessed. "Everything in it's place" feels like a proper phrase for this restaurant. The antiquities that surround the dining tables are a severe example of the decorator's style. There are places in Providence that mix small business and museum, this is one of those places. The menu had a selection that doesn't feel as limited as other niche restaurants. The selection did include gluten-free labeling for those who have the need. The Parmesan Encrusted Free Range Chicken Breast was delicious. The portion size was enough, for a fast metabolism, you may want to order appetizers. I like to judge a place by it's presentation of a Caesar Salad. Some places look like they threw a bunch of lettuce leaves onto a place and smatter some cheese on top, with a sneeze of Caesar dressing. CAV was not this place. We ordered the salad without croutons, and it was delicious. There was some baked parmesan on top of the salad that added to the flavor. The dressing was light enough that it did not overpower the other flavors, such as the lettuce and the cheese. The cocktails were excellent! I ordered the Silver and Gold Margarita, they were flavorful and highlighted the taste of the tequila without the taste of the alcohol. A very unique aspect. CAV is a place where I am curious about it all. When observing all of the artifacts, and the actual space that the restaurant was in, it tells a very cool story. I recommend taking the time to make a reservation and enjoy the time spent there. It is a wonderful thing for CAV to be in Providence!

Very cool vibes in the restaurant, lots of mirrors and chandeliers. Service was okay, drinks were good. Glass top on table had a chip on the side that they covered with painters tape. Food was terrible. The highlight of the meal was the free bread. Lobster pappardelle had a good amount of lobster meat and the pasta was well made but the sauce was disgusting. Parmesan chicken was hard and dry, we tried to tell the staff and she said “oh…yeah” and walked away? Overall not impressed, save your money,

Came here for brunch, food was okay, not great, prices good, ambiance great. We had a Brie appetizer, lobster and eggs, and French toast, all were okay. My eggs were cooked perfectly, but the chili sauce on the lobster and eggs was very sweet and not spicy. I tried my friend’s French toast and it was meh. I will say the ambiance is pretty cool because the restaurant doubles as an antique shop and there’s lots of interesting stuff to look at. The wait staff is great about not rushing people, so that makes for a great Sunday brunch vibe. The neighborhood is within walking distance of downtown which is also nice. I’m glad we made reservations as it was pretty busy, even in dead of winter. Despite being underwhelmed by food I’d come back and give this place another try for the dinner menu.

Shopping
Garden City Center is a relaxed shopping plaza with over 60 retailers, local services, and a variety of eateries. Located just off Interstate 295, it offers an exciting blend of stores including Barnes & Noble, Home Depot, Kohls, and Target. The center also houses Daves Fresh Marketplace, one of the largest independent grocery stores in Rhode Island. Visitors can plan their day starting with shopping and then enjoy lunch at one of the diverse restaurants available.
Lots of amazing stores. Well manacured landscapes. Lots of parking. No trash laying around. Definitely some upscale places and restaurants. Then some casual ones. A gym too. You can definitely get stuck in the parking lot due to only 2 exits and endless speed bumps and pedestrians needing to cross. 🚸

Used to be a great, safe place. The last few visits I have made (alone, with my 6 month old in her carriage) have been awful. Both times I have encountered individuals clearly on drugs yelling outside of businesses and parking lots. Once, I even called security to notify them and they said they must’ve missed him. No longer feels like a safe place to walk alone with my daughter which is unfortunate since it is accessible, local, and enjoyable in the nice weather. We will be making less trips to garden city (at least alone) until there is something serious done about the security and drug use.

This is a great shopping center with a nice mix of dining options and high-end shops. Being an open-air mall makes it especially enjoyable to explore on a pleasant spring day. They also have plenty of EV chargers, and most were available, which was convenient. I originally came for the Container Store but ended up having a great time walking around. I grabbed a quick meal at Chipotle, though there were several other spots I’d love to try next time. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

A bit too upscale for me… but a great place to excercise and walk around on a nice day… be careful of dogs and people who are not aware of picking up after their dogs… new-port creamery is too good…

Great Spot with a little bit of everything! You can get a coffee and walk around. We didn’t need anything when we arrived and left with a ton of stuff we had been meaning to get! There is a ton of parking but at certain times, you’ll still be fighting for a parking space. When we left around 6 or 7pm, we had people waiting by our car when we backed out for our spot. Best to take the bus in during super busy times which arrives right at the plaza. Just wish they had smaller spaces with a few more local businesses like they used to before Covid.

I ordered the Rigatoni A La Vodka to go. I requested extra sauce and they totally delivered. I hate dry pasta so getting the extra sauce in the pasta is a must have for me. It was delicious! Whenever I’ve gone to this restaurant, the staff are always very pleasant and kind

Never shopped here, and never will. Chaska is the only spot I would say it is worth it. Not worth the time or energy. Perhaps it was a better place, in the past.Even the dunkin is expensive to get a coffee. The cleaning crew and maintenence people are amazing but the guy running it, is a joke and its laughable that he is doing a good job.

Diner
Breakfast restaurant
The West Side Diner is a classic prefabricated diner car with an Art Deco interior, featuring chrome and glass elements. This historic place offers a menu filled with traditional breakfast items like eggs, French toast, and pancakes, as well as lunch options such as veal parmesan, turkey dinner, and burgers. Although not an original diner from the 1800s, it pays homage to history by replicating the concept invented in Providence.
They are friendly with a clean environment and great food! Captures the authentic Providence diner, which most don’t! If you’re in Providence, Rhode Island, this is a must needed to schedule breakfast that you have to put on your agenda.

I went here to give it a try because I seen it on social media a post saying come and sit outside enjoy the weather and have some mimosas no one was outside I was like great I asked was told NO I CAN NOT SIT OUTSIDE it was just me and my husband I wanted to be outside it was quite and not to many people then the host took us to THE BACK ALL THE CONTRARY OF OUTSIDE THERE WAS A LOT OF PEOPLE BACK THERE AND SUPER LOUD like why seat us all the way in the back that’s weird there was boot available. I had the egg Benedict and i ordered and it was done less then 5 minutes idk but that was weird it was not great at all and also ask for PINK MIMOSA which is also on the website the waiter said I don’t know what’s that..mind you I seen pictures on their Instagram and showed them to her and also reviews here with pictures like a month old and she said that’s our old menu…two different kind of mimosas they both tasted the same so disappointing no orange 🍊 no presentation horrible …and my husband said his home fries tasted like onions 😩is like the grill is used for everything and not cleaned at all 🤮I WILL NEVER GO HERE AGAIN. If I could I will give 0 starts to this place is overrated for real. PHOTOS IS MINES AND THE OTHER ONE IS ANOTHER PERSON REVIEW FROM A MONTH AGO WITH THE SAME MIMOSA I WANTED AND THEY TOLD ME THATS FROM THE OLD MENU. I mean look and compare idk i feel like they treat who they want good or pick and choose who deserves better service.

I've been coming to West Side Diner for years, and I have to say—Danielle is hands down the best bartender they've ever had. Her drinks are consistently spot-on, and she has an amazing knack for remembering what everyone likes. She's incredibly attentive, friendly, and always makes you feel welcome. Danielle truly elevates the whole experience at the diner. If you're stopping by, make sure to grab a seat at the bar when she's working—you won’t be disappointed!

Enjoyed breakfast thoroughly! Old-time diner atmosphere makes for a good experience. Servers and employees were all pleasant to deal with and welcoming. Our server, Kayla, was attentive even though it was starting to get busy. Eggs Benedict for my girlfriend and stuffed French toast for me. Added a side of corned beef hash (definitely made on site) and baked beans as well. A great find for a tasty Sunday morning breakfast before heading out theifting!

Great little place for breakfast or lunch. This was my second time visiting. The grilled chicken sandwich was delicious, as well as their omelets. I also ordered a fall drink today, a caramel apple martini, which was delicious. Whether you eat inside or outside, you'll enjoy the space. The wait staff are all kind and helpful as well.

My friends and I came in on Nov 1st around 11am. It was a Saturday post-Halloween so we were understanding that it might be a lil crazy. My boyfriend ordered a breakfast burrito that looked incredible and my best friend ordered the current omelette special. I ordered a turkey wrap that was missing some sauce so it tasted a bit dry. Our server was quite dismissive towards us, just throwing the check on the table. We got the vibe that it was short-staffed perhaps.

My wife and I have lived on the west side of Providence for years, and we’ve driven past this diner countless times saying, “We really should go.” We finally did—twice—and I’m glad we did. Both visits were excellent. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was welcoming, and of course, the classic endless diner coffee sealed the deal. We were pleasantly surprised to see alcohol on the menu, though we didn’t try it this time. We’re big diner fans, and this one easily ranks among our favorites. On my first visit, I ordered the Texas toast French toast, which was perfectly done. On the second, I tried the crab Benedict—outstanding both times. My wife had the crab Benedict on our first visit and the huevos rancheros with a side of corned beef hash on the second, all of which she loved. The diner offers great value as well—delicious meals at an affordable price. We’ll definitely be back and are happy to have such a reliable spot nearby.

Disappointing service. Waited for over 15 minutes for a glass of apple juice, meanwhile the waitress just hung out and walked around on her phone. Used to really enjoy coming here but it’s overcrowded and it doesn’t seem like they care about good service. Complete lack of communication or care for paying customers. Walked out this morning because all I was served was coffee and had been left waiting 15+ minutes for a glass of apple juice

Non-profit organization
If you're visiting New England with kids, make sure to stop by the Providence Children's Museum in Rhode Island. This museum offers a hands-on learning environment with interactive programs designed for young children. It's a great place for kids between the ages of one and 11 to engage in creative play and exploration. From climbing tree houses to creating art in the Maker Studio, there are plenty of activities to keep little ones entertained.
This place is what dreams are made of. Slow down and enjoy each activity. It'll bring out the child in you while you transform your little cyber child into a creator. Thank you for the many wonderful, crafty ideas!

Nice little children's museum. We've been to children's museums all over the country and this is pretty standard. Smaller but they utilize the space well. My son appreciated the amount of puzzles and building opportunities that were available, along with the free-play/imagination space.

Fun and engaging kids musuem and well worth the visit. individual areas are fun and engaging for the kids but not as big as expected. About 1 to 2 solid hours of fun is what i would expect from any visit.
Paqman — Google review
We visited with two adults and two kids - tickets came to $64, which felt a bit pricey since we only had about 45 minutes before closing. That said, the museum is really well-designed with tons of fun, hands-on activities for kids. The water room was definitely the highlight! Our kids could’ve stayed there for hours! The upstairs area also has plenty to explore and learn from. Overall, it’s a great spot for families, especially if you have more time to spend. I just wish the admission were a little more affordable for short visits.
Sazzie Z — Google review
I took my 4 year old here a few weeks ago and we had an absolute blast exploring the children's museum together. It has multiple levels with a lot to learn and do. We had a lot of fun in the water room, enjoyed building walls and knocking them down upstairs and my son really enjoyed playing with the pipes to make his own track. We spent about 2-3 hours here, which was plenty of time to explore everything and work up a good appetite for lunch.

It’s a nice children’s museum and it is clean inside. It is popular and a lot of children inside, the parking is limited and not much left to park. The staff are very nice and keep this museum safe and comfortable, there are a lot to play . Including the water area, historical area, scientific area, etc. it’s a good place to stop and let the children to play around 1 hour.
Hills L — Google review
Both of our children have loved this museum through the years. The water room remains the most popular spot. We normally wear a bathing suit and swim shoes to go, start in the water room, change up and head upstairs. That's a perfect break for a snack or lunch. There's a dining area and you can bring your own food. We always find playmates and there's plenty of toys and props for everyone.

The Providence Children’s Museum is an absolute gem for families looking for an engaging, educational, and fun-filled experience. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is inviting, colorful, and full of energy, making it the perfect place for kids to explore and learn through play. The exhibits are incredibly well-designed, catering to a variety of interests and age groups. The Water Ways exhibit was a huge hit, allowing kids to experiment with flowing water, pipes, and fountains in a hands-on way. The ThinkSpace section encourages problem-solving and creativity, while the Littlewoods area is perfect for younger children to safely play and explore. One of the standout features is how interactive everything is—kids aren’t just looking at exhibits; they’re fully immersed in them! The museum is also very well-maintained, with clean facilities and friendly, helpful staff who ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors. There are plenty of seating areas for parents to take a break while still keeping an eye on their children. Overall, the Providence Children’s Museum is a must-visit for families in the area. It’s a place where kids can let their imaginations run wild, all while learning and having a great time. Highly recommended!

Trinity Repertory Company, located at 201 Washington St., is a vibrant dramatic arts venue in Providence. It features two theater stages where a diverse range of performances including plays, musicals, films, and educational programs take place. The company showcases new plays alongside classics by Chekov, Albee, and Shakespeare. Under the leadership of artistic director Curt Columbus, Trinity Repertory Company has become a rich cultural destination with an abundance of creative and exciting options for visitors to explore.
I bought my 14 yr old daughter tickets to see A Christmas Carol for Christmas this year. They were reasonably priced and I wanted to introduce her to the world of live theater. This was my first time at Trinity so I didn't know what to expect. First of all, the INSIDE LOBBY is beautifully decorated. You are allowed to purchase water, alcoholic drinks, popcorn, and they even have a hot cocoa station. I found the prices to be a bit high but that's to be expected. The Theater Area was small with not many seats, which I wasn't sure I would like at first. Kind of like going to a Movie Theater. But as the show began I found myself enjoying the smaller, more personal experience. It drew me in as if I were part of the play itself. The Acting was great and the Scene Design fit perfectly. My daughter and I had a wonderful time and would definitely visit again. I just wish they had more than a handful of plays per year

I took my daughter to see La Tempestad and it was phenomenal! Shakespear with a touch of modernism and the cast was outstanding 😊 the theater wasn’t too big as well so we could get seats directly next to the stage it felt so immersive! We loved the experience! We don’t speak Spanish but it wasn’t hard to read the subtitles and still stay with the show! Bravo to the cast!!! ⭐️

Went here for the first time this weekend to watch Christmas Carol. What a great experience!! All the staff are friendly and helpful as you look for your seat. Great classic story with a twist. I chose a front seat because I’d never been but it’s a small cozy place with a great layout so there is no bad seat in the house! Highly recommend it.

The Providence Performing Arts Center is a grand 1920s theater that hosts a variety of performances, including Broadway shows, plays, concerts, and musicals. Cool venue for a Dark Star Orchestra show! Easy parking, great sound and sight lines, friendly and helpful staff. Really comfy old theater with a big high ceiling lobby and a great balcony. Kept looking around at the building during the show.

Beautiful theater and friendly staff! In our 25+ years of attending shows and events here we have never had a problem. Great memories of attending shows with family and friends. Parking is relatively easy with options from paid lots and street parking to a large parking garage both in front and behind the theater. While seeing a show in Boston is great, Providence is so much easier and there are many great food options in the area too! Video is from Lindsey Stirling’s Holiday tour. Fun fact: the PPAC used to be an old movie theater back in the day and was renovated into a theater for live productions.

Watched Shen Yun there. The shows was nice and the ballet dancers were very good. Has a couple of “stories” that are cute for kids! I was expecting a little more “ballet” in traditional Chinese dance. Had to do with choreography that anything else. Overall fun afternoon. There are like 3-4 parking lots, one literally across the street.

Amazing theater! Staff was polite, seating was great and the show was out of this world. Saw Riverdance in April 2025 and would recommend anyone that has a chance to see the show, not to pass up the opportunity. Parking and traffic is horrible. The garage across the street is over $50 for a couple of hours of show time. It was pouring out so we took this option but there is no sign of the cost until you park and go to the kiosk to pay. By that time your going to pay it but it was a shock.

Five stars! I went to the Providence Performing Arts Center to see Thorn and it was an unforgettable night. The theater is absolutely stunning — from the architecture to the lighting and sound. Staff was friendly and everything felt smooth and well-organized. Can’t wait to come back for another show!

PPAC remains a Providence institution and the interior is as beautiful as ever. The quality of the shows remains excellent and while the tickets are certainly not cheap, they are priced appropriately. The online ticketing system worked flawlessly.

My friend and I went last night to see Harry Potter and it was amazing! Beyond amazing! I cant say anything negative about this place! We cant wait to see future shows. The show was magical! Warning for tickets though. We searched Providence Performing Arts Center to buy our tickets a few weeks ago. The top link (which we thought was ppac) actually was a scam site. The link was .net instead of .org and we had no idea. Please watch what link you press, Go Tickets is a scam website. 2 tickets cost $290 with Go Tickets, which we thought was high but just figured prices increased. We got to the venue and our tickets were never delivered so we had to buy new ones. Same section but closer, we only paid $120. Go Tickets has been harrassing us for hours now, but they still never sent the tickets. PPAC is aware and they cautioned us to make sure we use the .org in the future. The .net site had all the same logos and information though, so be aware.

Fine dining restaurant
Wine bar
Gracie's is a cozy upscale restaurant in Providence that offers locally sourced New American cuisine with fixed-price menu options. It's a perfect spot for a fancy multi-course dinner, featuring stunning dishes like Point Judith sea scallops and creative ingredient combinations. Located in the theater district, it's an ideal start to a Broadway-esque dinner-and-a-show evening.
What an awesome evening! 5 courses in the cellar was outstanding. Started with cocktails, then had some great recommendations on wine pairings. Food was fantastic, and the staff was amazing about dietary restrictions and a few last min changes and substitutions. I can’t express how amazing Caroline was. She had every answer to all my questions. And I asked a lot. We enjoyed our last course and a nightcap at the bar upstairs and it was the perfect ending to an all-around spectacular night.
Rachel B — Google review
Gracie's is an restaurant that I would have rated higher if they didn't classify themselves as fine dining. The staff themselves are very friendly, but it is noticeable that they are not trained properly. Some examples during our dinner: one of the waitstaff spilled water and our reserved table had to be switched as it noticeably soaked through the booth seat, wait staff started taking empty plates away while someone in our party was still eating, a waitress took away someone's wine glass that still had wine in it, and wait staff poured sparkling water into someone's still water glass. Upon realizing the mistake, they just accepted the answer that it was okay and did not immediately dispose of the half-flat sparkling water and replace the glass. We also had issues with the complicated reservation process (see pic 1) and the lack of Saturday's complimentary valet as stated on their OpenTable. Food-wise, we found that some dishes such as the gnocchi were top quality, while others missed the mark in seasoning and execution (ex: the pork belly with the scallop dish is extremely dry and difficult to eat, rigatoni lacked salt and acid, banana ice cream [pic 9] arrived almost fully melted on the plate). I cannot recommend Gracie's to those with fine dining experience as it will disappoint. However, if you are new to it and want to go for a first time experience or to impress a date? This may be a good place to start.

This is my second time here and both times I did the chefs tasting menu. Every dish left a lasting impression, and the cadence was perfect. The foie gras was one of the best I ever had! I highly recommend the wine pairing as it truly compliments each dish, and the sommelier provides great service while being very knowledgeable. I will absolutely be back anytime I'm in the area.

I love it here. Such a fantastic experience. Even at the bar, they give you their full attention. The bartender, Carolina, knew so much about our wines and how they paired with our dishes. She had all of the information about the wines we asked memorized as well as the plates they go well with. Fantastic attitude that just puts you in a good mood to be near them. The food is amazing but the gnocchi was definitely my favorite. A really stand out dish that I highly recommend trying when you’re here. I don’t even typically like gnocchi or mushrooms like that but I kept going back for more. Beautiful atmosphere and plenty of staff so you’re never ignored, even when it is busy before a PPAC show (or Trinity repertoire ; which is directly across the street and can be seen from the windows) I just love when a place really puts a good amount of detail in their plates and makes their staff happy enough that they stay working here for a long time. Definitely worth a trip, even though it is pricey - you will leave full and happy

My family and I celebrated my wife's birthday. Our party of 6 had the 5 course tasting menu with the Grand Wine pairing. We had a wonderful time, and the food was absolutely amazing! Our Sommelier & Service Lead, Caroline, was phenomenal! The wines she paired with each course were amazing. My son and his husband both work in the NYC food industry, and they were thrilled with every wine she brought to the table. The entire team of waitstaff were incredible. We were grateful for their service and care. It was a great way to spend a special day!

Our dining experience at Gracie’s last night was outstanding. The attention to detail made it especially memorable. When we sat down, there was a handwritten note wishing Darren a Happy Birthday, followed by a delicious glass of cava from Danielle. Nick, the bartender I knew from Bacaro, mixed me a Black Manhattan that was absolutely amazing—thank you, Nick. Every touch, from the warm service to the thoughtful presentation, made the evening feel special. Highly recommend this restaurant—it’s a gem.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Providence, Barnaby's Public House is a charming vintage pub that boasts an intriguing history and a delightful menu. Housed in the historic Conrad building, this establishment was originally built as a wedding gift in 1885 by Jerothmul Bowers Barnaby for his daughter. The tale takes a twist with family drama surrounding his will, adding to its unique character.
What a jem of a place! I was able to try this place out for dinner with a friend and I was first pleasantly surprised by the menu since I was just expecting bar food (which I do love). The menu has some great influences and the food was truly delicious! The staff was also attentive and kind as well. Check this place out if you’re looking for a new place to try out in downtown Providence.

Cool place to have some dinner! Bartender was very nice and friendly, he was knowledgeable on the allergens. Almost all of the menu can be made gluten free which is a bonus for us! The food was very tasty. We stumbled upon this place randomly and honestly fell in love, too bad they are only open Thursday to Sunday. Would go again 100%. Drinks were refreshing!

Barnaby's was a rustic restaurant with a pub feel located in the heart of downtown Providence. Although the place was not crowded, it had a good ambiance and energy with those who were there. The tostada were delicious and the drinks were good, but service did take a while but that is understandable given the current work situation. Overall good place to eat for some good takes on traditional bar food and to get to a good location for the rest of the night.

Very highly recommend Barnaby's Public House! Noon tip for the Friars game, so wanted someplace to go for a drink and a bite before. The Smoked Salmon Benedict was perfectly cooked and not drenched in hollandaise sauce!

My time here was terrible the only good thing was the bacon and the waitress (she was so nice) I personally ate the birria breakfast burrito and the steak had no flavor! The home fries are way over seasoned it’s like biting into straight salt. My friend ordered over medium eggs and they were fully cooked. The hostess was honestly the worst part she sat us next to a noisy group and when I was looking for her to change tables she was at the bar talking to people and showing things on her phone. The tables was soaked in water and had a bunch of blonde hairs on it. The silverware wasn’t even clean! It has dried food on it. Overall don’t waste your money or time on this place! I would give it zero stars if I could.

Came here for brunch after finding them on Google. What a treat!! They have so many unusual and unexpected dishes for breakfast, from a root vegetable hash to Birria breakfast burrito and chicken sliders as well as pork belly Benedict. The food is all made from scratch and you can definitely tell when you’re eating it. They also pour a giant goblet of mimosa. Plus you can get mimosas in many different flavors. The staff is friendly and quick. I highly recommend coming here for brunch.

Overall - meh. I had higher expectations with it being rated 4.4 stars. The service is extremely slow. We sat at the bar and it took 20 mins to get our drinks (the bar wasn’t full) and then another 10 mins to place our food order. I got the rancheros and my partner got the Mediterranean Benny. The food took forever and came out cold. Not very good. I recommend for drinks but not food.

I had to take these pictures. I’ve had some recently bad burgers and fries. This came out as it looks, hot and delicious. Wow. Medium, no pickles and BBQ on the side. It’s rare these day’s for places to get your order right on the first attempt. Hats off to you!

Restaurant
Gift Horse, a new restaurant from the team behind Oberlin, offers an extraordinary dining experience. The menu features imaginative dishes like fresh-caught Maine Jonah crab meat with burnt onion dijonnaise and a show-stopping crispy whole fish ssam served with banchan and rice. The raw bar is a seafood shrine of ice, shellfish, and crustaceans.
I came here while in town on business. I was looking for good seafood and Gift Horse was highly recommended so I stopped by and it did not disappoint! The oysters were fresh, the Sacllop Crudo was out of this world and the drinks were exceptional. What really made my evening was the bartender/waitress Rachel, who was very welcoming and helpful. She had amazing recommendations based on my tastes (luckily I eat everything) and she was truly a warm, friendly and happy person to work with. I am already planning another trip to Providence and will be back mostly for Rachel and her amazing service! Thank you!

Super cute place with delicious oysters and some fun happy hour options. Gets a little snug in the bar area but in the clerb were all friends. Or however that goes. Seriously a very fun space to be in, on top of the great food. They have really nice business cards too!

Gift Horse is such a cool, unique spot in Providence! 🦞 The atmosphere has that perfect mix of laid-back and stylish, making it a fun place to hang out and enjoy great food with friends. The menu is creative and full of flavor, but the claws were definitely the standout for me — fresh, meaty, and absolutely delicious. Pairing them with one of their cocktails made the experience even better. The staff was friendly and attentive, which added to the relaxed, welcoming vibe. It’s the kind of place that feels both trendy and approachable, and it’s one I’ll definitely return to the next time I’m in Providence.

An absolutely sensational dining experience, with every dish surpassing expectations in terms of quality, presentation, and flavor. Even with a wide variety of fish available, it’s hard to go wrong with any of it. The chef has carefully curated a balanced flavor with every single bite, and I was impressed every time something new graced my palate. Some of the standout dishes included the raw scallops and the raw fish sampler plate, both of which we ended up coming back to because they were so high quality and delicious. If you are in Providence - do yourself a favor and go to this restaurant, you will leave impressed and in awe that good could be so tasty. Cannot recommend this enough.

With the NYT putting Gift Horse on its list of America's 50 Best Restaurants and James Beard bestowing its coveted accolade, I had to check out what the excitement was all about. After trying over four dishes, I still don't know. Those are some towering distinctions, so expectations were proportionally raised. Yet nothing rose to such stunning heights of amazement, especially when compared against thousands of others in the vast dining scene. The cold kelp, mushroom, kholrabi, and sesame salad failed to meld that promising combination into something exciting, instead being a bland, cold mush without flair. Their smoked fish dip was heavy on the cream cheese, light on the namesake ingredient. The accompanying puffed nori chips were a bit soft, likely sitting around long before serving. The thimbal-sized fermented green chili hot sauce did not pack much of a punch (which it was ordered for to bolster drab dishes). The sesame semifreddo was another dreary disappointment, a homogenized texture more dry than creamy, again lacking character of the theme ingredient, with cake crumb topping that just added to the mushy texture which begged for crunchy inclusion for contrast. It wasn't all a disappointment. The pickled veggies were well cured and spiced, notably the soy items. And the smoked scallop roll was pure comfort food stuffed inside a crisped butter bun. But good as these were, neither wowed or compensated for the other lackluster dishes. I didn't order from the raw bar, as I was interested in how the kitchen cooks. But maybe Mother Nature would have done it better. Ok, that's too harsh. The food was not bad, but it wasn't impressive enough to live up to the big awards--and big price tag.

What a great evening we had here. The food was fabulous and the vibe was so cool. We especially loved the Rough Water oysters, and the crudo. And the lamburger was outta sight!

Seriously, when you're in the area and looking for a great evening, after leaving Chris at Congress, STOP HERE. The staff, atmosphere and oyster bar is top notch. The hostess is a delight and charismatic. Our oyster connoisseur, whom I affectionately nicknamed DC... as in Discovery Channel... because she is an absolute genius ! Tell her your pallet and she'll serve you EXACTLY what your taste buds crave. THIS TEAM, everyone; even Brady, IS SOLID GOLD ! I wish I was their manager. Bravo TEAM !!!! IMHO

Came here at 4pm for the oyster happy hour. The place filled up quickly! Super friendly staff and we loved the artistic and intimate decor and setting. Great vibe and nice place to hang out that’s for sure. Cocktail list was amazing and well crafted. The main event - 11 different types of oysters from the region. All excellent and fresh. My suggestion is to tell the server your preference, start with a variety then go for second (or third) rounds. Staffs had great knowledge and we had a fun time. The other raw dishes were fantastic too. Note that hot food is only available after 5pm.

Mexican restaurant
Xaco Taco is a laid-back taco spot in Providence that prides itself on making its tortillas from scratch and serving up cocktails and happy hour specials. The restaurant offers an extensive menu with options like the flavorful Shrimp Diablo and Al Pastor taco platters, all at affordable prices. Located in the jewelry district, Xaco Taco is known for its family-style dining option, which sets it apart from other eateries in the area.
It was my first time coming here after having cravings for tacos and craft cocktails and it was a 5-star overall experience. I sat at the bar and had amazing service from Josh and Victor. The craft cocktails and food were absolutely delicious! I enjoyed the ambiance as it’s a lively atmosphere and just what I was looking for.

Hip 😎 restaurant with free-feel vibes ✌️ great tacos! Al Pastor has a kick 🌶️ shrimp 🍤, 🐟, 🐷, 🐮 are all good! They have an inside/outside bar, indoor/outdoor dining, friendly staff, plenty of parking nearby.

Went following water fire and had some of the best tacos ever. The chips and salsa verde were clearly homemade with the chips having the perfect crunch and the salsa being very refreshing. The tacos had a perfect amount of seasoning and with every inch being full of the toppings leading to the perfect bites.

I sat at the bar, met Carolina and Victor, she was my waitress, she was amazing with great conversation, he was the bartender, going a 1000 miles per hour getting the restaurant drinks ready, young, energetic and intelligent, good qualities to have for a place that on a Wednesday night was busy and buzzing with customers. The queso fundido was my favorite, served in a cast iron skillet with corn tortillas, simply delicious, finished with two tacos, the Baja shrimp and the carnitas. Highly recommend.

This is probably my tenth time here and I love it. The carne asada fries are mouthwatering and gluten free. Blood orange margarita with a sugar rim and I’m smiling all night. The staff is great and they have great bar and table seating. Nice patio too.

Oh my God, the food is so good. The drinks is amazing. Everything was so good. Just passing through visiting and made a stop here. Best choice to make for this cuisine.

Love to go between 3-5 for their special $2 tacos! Chicken tinga, fish are my 2 favorite. The Cadillac magarita is my go to drink. They make green tea shots fresh!
Lyndsey M — Google review
Great ambiance, friendly staff, exceptional service, and absolutely AMAZING FOOD! The Shrimp Diablo Taco is hands-down the best shrimp taco I've ever had. Absolutely DELICIOUS! Every dish was delish but the shrimp taco takes the title. Followed closely by the Pumpkin Tres Leche cake which was melt-in-the-mouth delicious. Simply sublime.
