Zoo
Zoos & Aquariums
Nestled in 40 acres of woodlands, Roger Williams Park Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in the country and a model for modern zoo design. The kid-friendly environment offers an opportunity to see over 100 species from around the world, including snow leopards, giraffes, elephants, zebras, red pandas, and more. Visitors can enjoy a petting zoo, wetlands trail, zipline adventure, and even take a ride on a vintage carousel.
This was the first time for my 6 and 4yo to go. They loved it! Wasn't very crowded so that was nice! And all the animals made appearances! My only complaint, was the price of food and how slow it was cooked. But it was tastey for chicken tenders and fries. We appreciated the military discount on entrance price especially with the rising costs of everything. Beautiful, clean, and not over crowded. All around win.

Our recent trip to the Roger Williams Park Zoo was a perfect outing for our family, earning it a solid four out of five stars. My wife and I took our five-year-old daughter, and it was a joy to watch her excitement as we explored. The zoo is incredibly well-suited for families with young children and provides a day full of fun and discovery. For a five-year-old, the highlight was undoubtedly the farmyard area. She absolutely loved brushing the friendly goats and getting to see them up close. It was a wonderful hands-on experience that made her feel connected to the animals. The train ride was another big hit, giving us a playful way to see parts of the zoo while taking a short break from walking. We were also thrilled to see the giraffes towering over us and the elephants in their indoor enclosure. Seeing the golden lion tamarins and the beautiful blue hyacinth macaws in their habitats was also very special. The clear map at the entrance was a huge help, allowing us to easily navigate with our little one and ensure we saw all the animals on her list. The zoo's focus on conservation is a huge plus, and we felt great about supporting their mission. In short, Roger Williams Park Zoo is a fantastic destination for a family outing. It’s a place that creates lasting memories, and we highly recommend it. We can’t wait to go back again soon.

Enjoy going here for the annual Jack-o-lantern Spectacular. The tickets for Spectacular are only available online. We visited during the dinosaur event they were having over the summer as well in addition to the zoo. Love this zoo and the variety of animals. The wild cats and penguins are some of my favorites.
Melissa D — Google review
Highly recommended!! Truly incredible experience at the Pumpkin Spectacular! We booked tickets for 8 pm. Arrived with a fast moving line, which had no wait. Check in was a breeze and for a Saturday night it was packed but didn’t feel like so as the trails are wide enough to accommodate a crowd. The pumpkins are amazing to look at, especially the artist carved ones. One of the coolest and most do October bucket list items in New England! We parked above the zoo which was a 10 minute walk to the entrance as it was free. The lines to park were long and do create a wait. Parking is free or you can pay $15 for premium parking which the lot was quite empty for. Bathrooms are available and food trucks of fried dough, adult beverages, snacks etc. Definitely an awesome date night or a fun night out with the family
Talia N — Google review
Best zoo, actually - first real zoo I’ve been to that I can remember. The animals were so beautiful to look at. My favorites were the camels, elephants and giraffes. Very easy to walk around, barely any hills. Being able to interact with some animals was nice too.
Brittney G — Google review
A great zoo for all age groups. There is so much to see that you can easily spend the day admiring the incredible collection of animals in a recreated microcosm of their native environment. Easy, leisurely, paved walking paths everyday along with signs and educational info on the various sights before you.
John M — Google review
I got to enjoy Halloween Family festival on October 18th. It was great fun and the animals love being photographed. We did not get tickets for the evening pumpkin stroll and plan to do the stroll next year.
Jennifer C — Google review
My wife and I went for the jack-o-lantern spectacular. This is an annual event held at the zoo in the evening. As always, it was absolutely amazing and outstanding. We both highly recommend it to anyone who wants to bring their children and or just themselves to see pumpkins car in the most artistic and fantastic way possible. There are over 5,000 pumpkins available to see, many of which are carved to be like Museum pieces of Art.

Waterplace Park is a picturesque riverside location in Providence that hosts art installations, concerts, and the popular Waterfire event. Great evening out, my girl and i brought my grandson, he enjoyed it. . He's 14! We always stop by Haven Brothers for a bite to eat it's always great! We even got shakes this time! Went there for the 4th of July waterfire show. Since this was a last minute plan we could not do the gondola ride with the waterfire as they are booked well in advance. It’s a good family outing with lots of food, drinks and street side performances. Was disappointed that there were no fireworks around for 4th July. Lots of paid parking places available.

Lovely and artsy downtown area. Beautiful walking path along the river with so much to see. Great area to walk around and find food. Like any city, it's cramped, parking is tough, and there's trash floating in the river. Didn't stop us from enjoying our visit.

Came here Saturday September 27th waterfire, haven't been in years. Had the opportunity to take a ride on the boats along the river.

Downtown Providence is the place to be at night. Surrounded with water and the perfect night view. Come and visit Providence you won’t regret it
Claudia A — Google review
Given this is my 1st in Rhode Island this was one of my favorite parts of the downtown area. As you by from the street and look down the view is very nice. As you make your way down the view is even better. There's a restaurant and you can walk underneath the bridges. At the it must be beautiful, due to time I was unable to see it during the evening. Overall if your in the downtown area definitely check out thid park you won't regret it.

Park
Roger Williams Park is a sprawling 427-acre city park in Providence, Rhode Island, known for its extensive trails, sports facilities, and picturesque picnic spots. The park features a serene pond where visitors can enjoy leisurely rides on swan boats. It is recognized as one of America's top urban parks and was designed by the renowned landscape architect Horace Cleveland.
Great place to go while in Providence for all ages! I took my son here and we went on the carousel, the train ride and then played at the playground. They have a little concession stand with ice cream and drinks which was great. They also had a great walking trail for people that need to walk their baby in their stroller to take a nap! Peaceful and pretty flowers everywhere with great opportunities for photos. Highly recommend!
Christie C — Google review
Roger Williams Park is an absolute gem in Providence! The grounds are beautifully maintained, perfect for a peaceful walk, family picnic, or scenic drive. The zoo is fantastic, especially for kids, and the botanical center is stunning year-round. There’s always something to explore, from swan boats to playgrounds and art installations. It’s a perfect blend of nature, fun, and education — definitely one of the best urban parks in New England!
Mohammed A — Google review
There is lots of territory to cover in the park and it includes both historical sites for armchair scholars and fun stuff for kids. However, it's hard to walk this park. There are no real sidewalks in the park and you have to contend with traffic if you try to go anywhere on foot. Parking was also a challenge on the weekend.
Thomas P — Google review
A great zoo with lots of animals. Alot of construction happening currently that took away from the experience and highly.recommend bringing your own snacks and drinks bc the food is very over priced but the exhibits are well maintained and the animals are easy to locate in their exhibits which can be problematic at other zoos. Kids under 2 are free.
Meredith — Google review
Local resident here. I walk this park all year round and I notice in the fall workers are busy blowing leaves mowing here and there, and picking up branches and debris. But in summer time it's total opposite. The land scape maintenance around trails and flats has been getting worser. They mainly cut grass around popular tourist area like Temple of music...etc. The rest is atrocious! I don't understand the concept of hiring more employees and doing less work. Only people that walk through the park and trails know, tourist driving in their vehicle would never tell the difference it's just a facade.
Weezay J — Google review
So worth all the hype about this place! They have everything inside. You can simply go for a walk or spend the entire day having all sorts of fun! Parking is free all over the park and there’s something for everyone!
Regina K — Google review
A beautiful, sprawling park filled with trees and long trails perfect for walking, hiking and running. There are various routes you can take to extend your run anywhere from 3 to 7 miles. The park has several areas you can visit. I visited a beautiful Japanese village area, along with a nice lake and some playground spots too.

WaterFire is a captivating art installation and street fair in Providence that was created in 1994 to celebrate the 10th anniversary of First Night Providence. This free event takes place on the three rivers that converge in downtown Providence, where 100 small bonfires are set ablaze on the rivers while ambient music plays from the river banks. The flickering fires create a romantic atmosphere, casting a warm glow over the entire river.
I attended WaterFire on the Fourth of July and had a wonderful experience. The event was thoughtfully organized and offered a memorable alternative to traditional fireworks. Nearly 100 bonfires lined the rivers, creating an atmosphere that felt both peaceful and inspiring. The combination of music, firelight, and the crowd’s energy made the evening feel special. It was easy to walk along the riverwalk and take in different perspectives, and the vendors added a nice touch without feeling overwhelming. I appreciated how the event blended art and community in such a unique way. Highly recommend experiencing WaterFire if you’re in Providence.
Ryan L — Google review
Great event, different stands with food and drinks. A good walking stretch with music and food. The fire baskets throughout the street are mesmerizing. Perfect for romantic dates or outing with friends. Enjoy! We parked at the State house, it was free and no traffic in or out. Enjoy!
Nina C — Google review
Support your local art scene!! A long standing institution in Providence, it's a great event to enjoy community, vendors, drinks, and just be in the moment and appreciate the city in a unique way. It's such a cool thing that has been happening for 30 years. Unfortunately, the full lighting on 5/31/25 was not super crowded and the coffers were looking low. Granted, it was a cold night - but with everything going on in the world, it's worth coming together as a community and not forgetting tradition and togetherness.
Michael G — Google review
WaterFire in the heart of Providence is pure magic—flickering rivers of fire with over 80 bonfires, ethereal music drifting through the evening air, and shimmering reflections gliding across the water. It's a breathtaking marriage of art, fire, and humans that ignites the city and makes it an unforgettable dreamscape on Saturdays. Be sure to check the event calendar beforehand, and keep in mind that parking will be tough.
Manali S — Google review
I visited in the fall, which happened to coincide with the Brown University homecoming day. WaterFire is an enjoyable experience if you do not mind a crowd on a night with nice weather. People of all ages enjoy the festivities. While some areas are dimly lit so the fires can have a visual impact, most walkways are easy to navigate despite the lighting. Parking may be difficult to find on the city streets. While visiting area of Providence, I park at the State House, which allows free parking when not in session.
Abigail E — Google review
It was cool. Once you got the hx of the festival it made more sense. High light was the robot 🤖 . Down side no food vendors that catered to vegan or vegetarians. The magic show guy ignored all the brown and black kids (the very few that were there) and it was awkward.
Sutarshia J — Google review
It's a great time for everyone, live music, every vendor you can think of, alot of close restaurants and bars, weather you go early and catch the lightning ceremony or just getting there after dusk.
Conde I — Google review
Very festive and nice. Live music and recordered music were not intersecting, the whole river walk was super relaxing. Recommend to any tourists in the area;)

Swan Point Cemetery, established in 1846 and spanning over 200 acres, is a prestigious burial ground listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It holds the remains of historical figures like H.P. Lovecraft and is where Edgar Allen Poe's marriage proposal was rejected. The cemetery's beautifully landscaped grounds offer a serene setting for family outings, with miles of unpaved paths winding through neat rows of graves.
Beautiful Walk. My photos from inside “expired?” and won’t show up because I took them a while ago but I drove through recently and decided I would rate it. Beautiful spot. Inside has stained glass.

I absolutely loved spending my evenings here walking through the cemetery. It's well maintained and peaceful. I even made a friend. I mean she's a permanent resident but I loved what she had to say. Lovecraft's grave is here as well. The Pokémon gyms here are fantastic too.

We were lucky enough to visit on a sunny October morning and witness the stunning changing colours of the trees. Well worth a visit and has paths that even lead you down to the waterfront.

Happened to be in the area on a beautiful fall day. Leafs everywhere. That smell of autumn in the air. Absolutely beautiful cemetery. Well maintained and gorgeous to walk through.
Ralph — Google review
My favorite cemetery of all time. Some of the most beautiful foliage and plant life I've ever seen. Grounds are maintained beyond perfect. The only complaint I have is that the security guards are very invasive sometimes. When I'm taking a walk they will follow you around in their car. I had a security guard threaten to kick me out once because I was taking some photos. No dogs allowed. Beautiful wildlife here as well.
Jessie ( — Google review
The people there were SO KIND. I had a few hours until my flight home and they guided me to Howard Lovecraft's grave that I wanted to visit and the groundskeeper went out of his way to find me when I had lost my phone! Beautiful park as well!
Casey S — Google review
This seemingly endless cemetery on the East Side is a great place to come for some peace and quiet. The many winding and intersecting roads make it easy to get lost in here, especially since there are so many beautiful gravestones and obelisks throughout. There are a couple of paths that go down to the banks of the Seekonk River. It’s nice that they allow cycling here (only at “slow” speeds), as exploring the entire cemetery on foot would take hours.
Ben R — Google review
Beautiful 300 acre cemetery. Walking around you can tell that a lot of care goes into this place daily. The trees are beautiful and there is an area along the water that is peaceful.

Prospect Terrace is a small but charming hilltop park in Providence, offering stunning views of the city skyline and serving as an observation point for various attractions. It's home to a monument of Roger Williams, the founder of Rhode Island, and also where his remains are interred. Visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Providence and breathtaking sunsets while taking in the fragrant air and lush foliage. The park holds historical significance and is a favorite among locals for its open green space and picturesque setting.
is a true testament to Rhode Island’s vibrant culture! The exhibitions were well-curated, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. I left feeling inspired and with a greater appreciation for the arts and heritage. A fantastic spot to visit with family or friends!

If you're looking to explore the world of nature in all its glory, then the Museum of Natural History and Planetarium is definitely worth a visit. With over 250,000 objects on display, it has something for everyone interested in learning about flora and fauna. Plus, the museum offers educational programs that can help you learn more about the natural world.
Extremely cheap, only costs $2 but it is a wonderful museum. It has so many artifacts and taxidermied animals, along with lots of easy to understand descriptions. You can also fill out question sheets as you go along (good for keeping little ones entertained and helping them learn). I loved it, and it is a must see if you are in Providence
AP — Google review
We visited on a early Saturday afternoon in mid-June 2025. There was a small parking lot on the side of the building and it was about 2/3 full. There was also street parking. It was also a overcast and drizzly kind of afternoon. The sidewalk was being repaired at the time of our visit so we had to walk through the grass to get around. There is a cost ($2) to enter. The tickets can be purchased online (just give them your name) but also at kiosk to the right when you enter. You kind of get what you pay for here. This is also the merch kiosk and it's kind of small and didn't really have anything with museum's name on it. Just kind of generic museum merch. The lobby was very large and a cool mural if you look up at the ceiling. The bathrooms are also here in the main lobby, men's on one side and women's on other. The exhibits start immediately to the left and you go through a few different rooms. There are stairs in in the middle of the lobby that goes upstairs with more exhibits. The area with the planetarium is still a work in progress it looks like with many empty display cases. My favorite was the space area. There was also a Polynesian looking room we were calling the "Moana room". The changing planet room with the huge taxidermy polar bears was interesting. We did not pay extra for the planetarium show and at about 1 hr, the kids were done and ready to leave. Overall I'd probably not visit here again unless we were trying to kill some time or maybe watch the planetarium show. Definitely worth the first visit.
David L — Google review
For a small entrance fee you get a visit in a small but very interesting museum. You see an exhibition from island cultures in Oceania, a space exhibition. Thumbs up what they pit together in limited space.

Came here on a Saturday and got to see the Planetarium Show. Tickets are $5 which includes the show and admission fee. Many fun facts on animals, nature and the solar system. It was very busy and loud so I do recommend coming on a weekday vs the weekend; worth a visit!

What a wonderful way to spend a couple hours! Great for families. Educational and fun. Interesting exhibits The planetarium was great. A fun way to learn about the planets.
Kaitlyn G — Google review
Small museum with animals, minerals and other things mixed In the rooms. But for 2 usd no complains. If you add 3 usd to that, you can take a 30 min show in the planetarium and that one is very nice. Free parking

I really enjoyed the Planetarium show! It’s such a cute little spot to visit and spend some time with seeing the exhibits here. I liked that the planetarium show reflects what the constellation and stars would be like to the forecast / alignment of the stars and planets for that season.

Nestled within the expansive Roger Williams Park, the Roger Williams Park Botanical Center is a hidden gem that transcends the typical botanical garden experience. This vibrant oasis features New England's largest glasshouse display and encompasses four greenhouses, each brimming with diverse plant life. Visitors can wander through enchanting summer and winter gardens, navigate a whimsical rose maze, or relax in a pollinator meadow teeming with life.
We visited on a late Saturday afternoon in mid-June 2025. There was a large parking lot with plenty of spots. The center closed at 4PM and we arrived around 3PM. Last entry is at 3:30. We did pay the $5 (13-64 yr old) and $2 (6-12 yr old, military and 65+). Under 6 was free. There is a little booth with gates next to it as the entrance. If you're not paying attention you could miss it. We did pre-buy our tickets online so we just had to give them in our names and we were good to go. The website had time slots but we were told that this was a left over from COVID and they just haven't updated their website yet. We didn't have much time so we wanted to hit our must dos and headed straight for the green houses. There was a really cool atrium area that was kind of tropical. There was a couple doing what looked like wedding photo shoots in there. There are a bunch of water features as well. Great spot for some photography. There is a large concrete hallway to the right which lead to a bunch of other thematic areas. The kids enjoyed the carnivorous plant exhibit. Not a bunch of variety when we were there but it may have been to time of year as well. My youngest enjoyed the desert area which had tons of different cacti. There is also a outdoor kids play area and indoor play area. We did mess around here for a little bit as there weren't too many little kids around. We did end up heading out to the rose maze area to take a quick look and outdoor areas too. We did spent a little more time here than the natural history museum about 75 mins and the kids were ready to go by the end. I would've totally stayed longer if they weren't closing. We really rush through a lot of it. Overall a great experience and the price was reasonable for what we got. I wish we had more time. We would definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Beautiful place. Friendly staff. Huge tropical plants. Infested with mealy bugs. INFESTED!! It was SO gross and distracting. But it was only $5 and they do have goats. Worth a visit, but don't get too close to anything.

What a gem! We visited because of the Rain Harvest Festival and a concurrent PVD Bike Jam event on a Sunday. After walking around the summer garden and rose maze, we visited the greenhouses, which are the star of the center. The variety of different plants and the well-maintained greenhouses were really impressive. There were tons of spaces to entertain kids and this is clearly a great place for families with young children. Separate from the areas for children, there were lots of serene spots for people to sit and relax. I highly recommend visiting!

A wedding photographer's perspective: Roger Williams Botanical Center is an absolute dream of a wedding venue! I've worked her multiple times and it's always beautiful. The plant list makes for such a unique experience. I also appreciate the location; if you plan for it, you can access other parts of the park for photos. Highly recommended!

After lunch at the Hibachi Grill and Supreme buffet, we went to the Roger Williams Park Botanical Garden. The rainy weather in Rhode Island made the Conservatory Garden the ideal place to spend the afternoon, admiring its beauty, and meeting the three Dwarf Nigerian goats living there with Italian names were fun.

Very inexpensive and great way to spend the afternoon looking at really cool plants. Many of these are the same things you might have in your home but on a much grander scale because they've been growing for years

Oh my goodness, so beautiful!!! 🤩 Plenty of exotic plants and most are in a greenhouse so they stay alive and you can stay warm while browsing at this time of year. Many decorations that suit the plants, especially the ponds and waters, most are big enough to take selfies with. Love the rose maze, even right now, some are still blooming, in the middle, there are even more pretty decorations.

The Lippitt House Museum in Providence, Rhode Island, is a well-preserved historical site that offers a fascinating look into the Victorian era. Originally built in 1865 by the prominent Lippitt family, this grand house showcases exquisite architecture, period furnishings, and decorative arts. Visitors can explore the history of the house and learn about the lifestyle of its former residents.
I had my wedding ceremony and reception at Lippitt House Museum, and what a dream it was. We had 45 guests and it was perfect for a more intimate event. The house itself is absolutely gorgeous, and I received many compliments! Jane was also very easy to work with and very accommodating. She was prompt in answering all of my questions, and helped ensure that I had a stress free day. Just a few notes if you decide to use Lippitt house as your venue, if you want a outdoor ceremony you have to provide your own chairs. Inside we has access to tables, banquet chairs, and high tops but you will have to provide all linens and additional decorations (though the venue is so beautiful you hardly need to decorate anything beyond centerpieces). I highly recommend Lippitt House for any events!

We took the guided tour and had a very enthusiastic guide who knew many esoteric details of the Lippitt family's history. Highly recommended if you are in the area. Don't expect the grandiosity of the Newport mansions, but go moreso to learn a bit of the daily life in and around Providence in the 19th century.

Last Friday, we had the pleasure of touring the historic Lippitt House in Providence—and it was absolutely amazing! What made the experience truly unforgettable was our guide, Elizabeth Gilbert (not the author of Eat, Pray, Love, but THE Elizabeth Gilbert who brings history to life). Her tour was informative, engaging, and full of fascinating details that transported us straight into the elegance of Victorian times. If you're visiting magical Providence, don’t miss this gem. It's a beautiful step back in time, guided by someone who clearly loves what she does.

India Point Park is a small green space nestled in 40 acres of woodlands, offering stunning views of Providence Harbor and Seekonk River. It's a perfect spot for families to enjoy picnics, leisurely walks, and outdoor activities like frisbee. The park also serves as the starting point for the East Bay Bike Path, which leads to Watchemoket Square in East Providence and continues on to Bristol and the Mount Hope Bridge.
What a beautiful playground set within a lovely park in a beautiful, waterside location. The breeze off the water felt amazing! The playground is mostly FENCED in, which gives parents a little peace of mind. There are lots of places to sit, and several picnic tables which makes having a meal there very convenient. The playground had a sort of nautical theme, which felt appropriate to the location, and there were lots of cool rope structures and activities to tackle. A good amount for kids of all ages, including a nice structure/area for the under 5 crowd.
Beth R — Google review
This park is on the bay, where the Providence and Seekonk rivers meet, and located in the Fox Point neighborhood of Providence. It was established in 1680 as the first port in Providence; it was a major transportation hub for material goods and passengers. Tea and spices were traded with the East and West Indies, hence the name India Point. Steamships transported passengers from Baltimore, Miami, and Philadelphia. There's so much history there. There was a wide fishing dock and plenty of people fishing on it when we went; signs all around mentioning to not gut the fish on the dock, once caught, for obvious reasons. A beautiful walking path with views of the water. There were old wooden poles sticking out of the water which I'm assuming were old docks. There were plenty of green space and benches throughout. My toddler enjoyed the fenced in playground; it had a beautiful stone wall with art on it, swings, slides, climbing playscapes, benches, and tables. There was a large soccer field adjacent to the playground. A pedestrian bridge which goes over 1-195 can be accessed there as well as the East Bay bike path. There are many events that takes place there like the annual fourth of July celebrations. Overall, a lovely park with an immense amount of history!

There are quiet spots under trees with benches, relaxing spots where you can put a blanket down and have a little picnic and watch the boats and birds on the water. There are picnic tables and also a really nice playground for younger and older children (not so much for babies/toddlers). Great pathways for jogging and skating and kids biking. Perfect for leisurely strolls. Also, there is parking.

Nestled in the heart of downtown Providence, Burnside Park serves as a serene escape from the bustling city life. This charming green space is adorned with shady trees and inviting benches, making it an ideal spot for a leisurely picnic or simply unwinding next to the picturesque Bajnotti Fountain. At its eastern end stands an impressive equestrian statue of General Ambrose Burnside, a notable figure from the Civil War known for his iconic sideburns.

1st time visiting providence and the state in general. This park was my 2nd stop along my journey of checking out the city. There's currently some construction going on so part of the park is closed off. There's a cool water fountain and statue. They do performance and host events there aswell. It's a cool little park in the center of the city.
Mikeyy L — Google review
We like to visit with the kids this playground when we come here from Boston. Last time we came around 7pm on Saturday. I must admit it was a little scarier to be there. I didn't feel safe at all. There were rats around the fountain, in all the trash cans and on the playground. The park was full with junkies and homeless people. I do understand that they don't have any place to live, but the city should solve somehow this problem and help these people.
Rose D — Google review
Lots of homeless and addicts hanging about. I took my son for a walk though Providence on Labor Day Monday and he asked to stop at the park to play. Park itself was lovely, but there were lots of people camped out just sleeping in the middle of the day. Openly drinking alcohol and many "nodders", some asked us for money preying on a child's innocence. My son saw a dog and couldn't resist asking to pet. The owner was falling on the ground and repeatedly dropping his bottle of unlabeled pills. Filthy hands asking to shake my sons hand. I had to have a very unfortunate conversation with my son to explain.

Ryan B — Google review
We always use this spot as a meet up place. Semi hard to park around here bc of the bus station but obviously super easy to take the bus here since this is the hub. It’s semi cute when there aren’t like homeless people begging or someone with a megaphone
Nicole G — Google review
Fun park for kids! Definitely more for kids older than 5. Cool rope boats and climbing ropes. The only downside is it is near a bus station so there is a decent amount of teenagers hanging around, but they were friendly and did not get in the way of the kids playing. Although it seems like some teenagers did vandalize the park a little bit. It is located downtown so there are homeless people nearby but it was not in the park area. Fun for kids.

Visitors can take a moment for silent prayer and contemplation while enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Sit on a bench or under a tree for a picnic, watch people passing by, or let kids run around.
During our trip to Providence, Rhode Island, we explored the downtown area and discovered the beautiful Providence River at the heart of the city. We found the perfect spot to relax, The Memorial Park. This peaceful and historic space serves as both a place of reflection and a scenic gathering spot. Located along the Providence River, near the intersection of South Main Street and Memorial Boulevard, it’s part of a larger network of parks in downtown Providence. Memorial Park is known for its various war memorials that honor Rhode Islanders who served in different conflicts. Among the most prominent are the World War I Memorial, World War II Memorial, and the Holocaust Memorial. This is a very pretty park right along the river in Providence. You can see all of the cauldrons which are in place from 'Waterfire'. Yesterday there was a gondola on the river too. The holocaust memorial is impressive. There were some folks in the park asking for money this afternoon.

This was a not - so hidden gem! We went to view the Gun Totem and realized pretty quickly that Memorial Park is the main attraction. What was supposed to be a 5 minute stop turned in to hours walking around, sitting on the benches, people watching, and really appreciating the sacrifices the men and women in the armed forces made for our country. I was drawn to the Holocaust Survivors memorial and admired how much thought was put in to it. I would recommend setting aside some time to spend with each memorial. I counted at least 5 different memorials but there could have been more that I did not see during my afternoon there.

Nice park with many memorials. There are memorials for World War I, World War II, Korean War and the Holocaust. The park is also lovely for just enjoying a relaxed time outdoors. It's along the river with nice views. There are plenty benches in the park and also lots of shade.

Village Playground, located in Cranston, is a family-friendly spot with various play equipment for kids and a basketball court. The playground is enclosed by an iron fence with a gate, providing parents with a secure area to relax on benches under shaded trees while keeping an eye on their children. Visitors can bring along lunch or snacks and enjoy the friendly atmosphere. The spacious playground features diverse climbing structures and ride-on toys for kids, surrounded by a walkway for them to use their own ride-on toys.
Playground is fenced in and nestled in a quiet residential area. Very big with lots of different things for the kids to climb on and play in. They also have quite a few ride on toys for the kids as well! When I went (early June on a Monday afternoon) it was very clean and appeared as though new mulch had just been laid down. The play area is surrounded by a cement "walkway" for the kids to ride on in the small cars and other ride on toys. Lots of places for adults to sit and relax, and lots of SHADE too! 😎 There is also a couple of picnic tables if you would like to bring a lunch and feed the kiddos! This place is truly a hidden gem. You and your kids will enjoy it!

We love this playground! Perfect sized play spaces for toddler aged kids and there are almost always other kids there to play with. It's nice and shady for most of the day as well so it doesn't get too hot on most of the equipment.
Ashley S — Google review
Lots of toys and things to play with here. Cool boats and a fire truck.
Michelle L — Google review
If you are a parent with little kids, and need something almost like a break, this playground is for you. Their is an iron fence with a gate surrounding the playground, so you can actually sit on their benches (placed under trees, offering shade sometimes in the summer) and watch your kids play. They have tables, too, and it is a good place to bring a lunch or a snack. The folks who visit are consistently friendly, though I'm not quite sure how that is possible. They have a fun firetruck, slides, and kids of all ages seem to enjoy themselves. There is a concrete, flat sidewalk so a stroller or a kids' tool can be wheeled around the outside of the playground, and there are swings with basket-seating for babies. I highly recommend this playground, and it is only about two blocks from the bay with a sidewalk for more walking. A beautiful area. The playground is clean, as well. An adjacent basketball court provides a place for the little ones to run races or practice biking. Good for most ages, but especially 10 and under. Teens would enjoy the basketball court.

Roger Williams National Memorial in Providence is a tribute to the city's founder. The park features a visitor center with complimentary exhibits. Visitors can enjoy various performances and activities in the area, such as watching mimes at Memorial Park, observing Waterfire volunteers replenishing wood for fires, taking in jazz performances on Steeple Street, participating in ballroom dancing on Westminster St, and witnessing street performers and Big Nazo puppets near Providence Place Mall.
This is a small national park visitor center that tells about Roger Williams, a pilgrim who stood strong for religious freedom in the 1600’s and influenced our country forever. The visitor center is a few blocks from the memorial statue, giving a good walk thru some kinda step streets, or you could drive to it. The statue is huge, overlooking the city, and you can’t get a really good front facing look at it unless you go to the street below and look up. The walk gave us the opportunity to see it from both angles. There’s also a very nice park by the visitors center. I’m very grateful for Roger Williams bringing true freedom of religion to this country!

Roger Williams National Memorial is a very nice 4.5 acre park located in the city of Providence. The park is a beautiful place to take a walk around in. There are some picturesque gardens and trees that provide a nice retreat from the city. The park also contains the site of a freshwater spring that provided water to the settlers of Rhode Island. The park also a small but neat visitor center that has exhibits about Roger Williams. There is a short five minute film about the life of Roger Williams and the history of Rhode Island that is worth seeing. The visitor center also has a nice gift shop that has park merchandise and books about Roger Williams. All and all, this a great place to stop in Providence. If visiting the city for the first time be sure to stop here. It doesn't take more than a half hour to see and it is within walking distance of many other great sites to see in Providence.

One of the worst parks I've ever been to! It sounds great when someone tells you about it because there are grills, stone fire places, a pool, tennis court..etc. but when you get there the first thing you'll notice is the amount of garbage all over the place! The grass is patchy, hard and ugly. There's more ant hills than grass. There's too many bugs! The flies will swarm around your food! The people here will comfortably smoke marijuana next to you and your children. I'm okay with people being stoners and needing it medically but please be considerate of other people and the children. Also make sure to never leave anything behind because it WILL get stolen. You'll never see it again and the staff will not be of any help at all.

AWESOME! My family and I love going here. It is the only pool in Pawtucket. Staff is excellent! The bathrooms and showers r ok but u can't expect to much for a public pool. I think it is great they the kids of Pawtucket have a place to go cool off and have some fun!

Park
Lippitt Memorial Park, located in Providence, Rhode Island, is a charming destination at the northern end of Blackstone Blvd. The park offers various attractions such as a playground, walking paths, picnic tables, and a lovely fountain. It stands out for hosting the Hope Street Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays from May to October. The market features numerous vendors offering organic produce, freshly-caught seafood, flowers, locally roasted coffee, small-batch cheese and pasture-raised meat.
I took my grandson here when he was visiting because I didn't want to drive 40 minutes each way to the playground he wanted to go to. He loved it! He said there was so much to do and he loved the 2 different monkey bars. There is a great playground and lots of grass. I also played ball with my dog and we met other dogs. It's a nice park. Went on 08/18/24 and there's a misting pad now!

Incredible experience with the farm fresh famers market. Families, dog, live music, food trucks, produce and art! Beautiful playground in the center with surrounding trees for shade. What more could you ask for?

2023 [UPDATED GENERAL PARK REVIEW] -Great park for picnics. -LOTS OF benches and shade/trees -Playground in center of park is not fenced in but is accessible by wheelchair! -Some of the sidewalks/ paths around park need some maintenance otherwise would be great for kids to bike, and more wheelchair accessible. -Plenty of trash cans -Hummingbird Garden with trumpet honeysuckle! -Well maintained fountain -Well maintained grass. -Playground is most suitable for school age children [ages 4-11] -Tall slides and climbing structures suitable for older kids. -Swings -Interactive play areas for younger kids -Little free library box for book trade (was empty this visit but it is usually full of books most of the times I have visited) -Bulletin board for local information sharing -Often a lemonade truck nearby -Three Sisters [Ice Cream shop] across the street is one of the best in the state- home made ice cream flavors. Definitely bring some cash for a treat! ♡ 2022; I saw 2 eagles flying above park. This made it a 10/10 experience for me. Yes they were real eagles. JUVENILE bald eagles (no white feathers yet) Flew right over park then disappeared over trees towards water / river / bay area. ♡ keep in mind that these are birds of prey and keep your small dogs leashed.

It is a beautiful park with a large playground. It also has a working water fountain. It is located near Blackstone Boulevard. If you are there, take a walk with the kids to the hidden tree and the cottage. Get a take out lunch from India ( a great restaurant near there) and use the picnic tables provided. Or some ice cream from the three sisters Cafe. 😋
Anita M — Google review
Great playground for kids ages 2.5 years and up. All the kids played safely and were well behaved. Theres plenty of seating close by for parents. Theres also a mist (water spray) area for those who may wish to get a little wet. Has swing sets, several slides, monkey bars, and more. Highly recommend. Very safe neighborhood.
J S — Google review
What a lovely spot for family and friends to visit! The fountain was just starting up for the season when we were there. There was also the evidence of some creative chalk drawings on the sidewalks to spark one's imagination. On Saturday the Farmers Market takes center stage. A great neighborhood gathering place!
Joe G — Google review
This is a nice park with several features. There are paths and benches as well as open grassy areas. There is a fountain and a hummingbird area. The playground is nice and there is a new water spray area. There is a nice farmers market on Saturdays in the summer.

Dexter Training Ground is a well-maintained park in Providence, perfect for dog owners and families with kids. The green space offers walking paths, children's playgrounds, bocce pits, chess tables, and plenty of grassy areas.
Nice park, especially if you have dogs or kids. Cool statue, good view of the Armory, and exercise stations throughout. Also has a bocci ball court and chess/checkers boards on some of the tables. Great place to enjoy a day off.
Ben R — Google review
Lovely small park with playground and tree-lined walking paths. Excellent location in the city near many historic neighborhoods in the West End of Providence. A few benches, but not many. Can get sketchy at different hours. But there is a nice farmer's market on Thursday evenings here. Walking distance to several great restaurants and cafes. Parking on the perimeter.
Justin S — Google review
Great inner city space for a walk around the block, or just taking in some sunshine. With a children's playground, bocce pits, chess tables, beautiful rows of trees, and benches, and lots and lots of grass.

Dog park
Wonderful and well-cared-for canine oasis at the river's edge on the East Side of Providence. Mulch filled paths to walk and a field to run in and play fetch. Poopy bags available. Private small dog area.
Zachary O — Google review
LARGE space for a city park. Interesting design for a dog park. It's mostly overgrown and wooded with trails through the space and several clearing where chairs have been set. It may be difficult for people to pick up their dogs' poop if the dog goes out of cleared sections. Large areas seem to have been taken over by weed trees/bushes. Definitely needs to be trimmed back. Water, bags, and trash are only at the entrance. Separate section for small dogs, but that section is nowhere near the size of the main section.
Kindred W — Google review
I love it here, most dog owners are respectful and clean up after their dogs. I love that it's in the city but it's like we're in the woods which is ultimately our favorite place. My girl gets lost in the thick brush chasing whatever brave squirrel decides to come into the dog park LOL. They also have trash bags for your dogs if you forget and a water spout where you can refill water bowls if your dog gets thirsty. All in all it's a great place and a great use of space.
Christine R — Google review
Really great park. Not the biggest but probably the most interesting for my dogs: woods, shade, trails, lots of stuff to explore. Street parking is convenient.
Jim C — Google review
Always clean. There is so much space for the dogs to run and play. Groups of trees to explore. The dogs are always well supervised. The humans are always friendly
Pama B — Google review
Great wooded dog park with a water hose at the entrance for your water bowls. Well maintained and sprayed for mosquitos once a year but it's still a bit buggy. Good fences and a separate area for the small dogs. Lots of trees and shade. The space is great. Usually the people and dogs are too but you have to watch out for some people who don't train their dog correctly or their dog has possessive behaviors and they do not correct. Only bring your dogs if you're going to watch them, not be on your phone or holding a social hour with friends. That's when problem happen because they are still animals at the end of the day and they need you to watch and guide them and protect them if needed.
Anais P — Google review
Nice dog park with plenty of space for dogs to zoom! We maintained and there are loads of different areas for dogs to explore. Has a separate smaller area for little puppers.
Nicholas B — Google review

Park
Donigian Park is a peaceful and well-maintained park located next to the Woonasquatucket River, offering beautiful views and a serene atmosphere. While the presence of geese and ducks adds to the charm, their droppings can be a minor inconvenience. The park features a pleasant bike path along the river and ample open space for various activities, making it an ideal spot for family outings.
Good park well maintained by river rangers stay safe and enjoy nature DO NOT SWIM OR EAT THE FISH FROM THE RIVER
Cameron S — Google review
A very nice, relaxing park to come to for some peace and quiet. The Woonasquatucket River runs right next to it and provides some great views. There are often a lot of geese and ducks around the park, which is nice except for the fact that their poop is everywhere. Not much you can do about that though. There’s a nice bike path that runs right along the river, and a lot of open space for activities. Overall, a great park!

City park
Billy Taylor Park is a small neighborhood park that offers a variety of activities for both kids and adults. It features a playground, basketball courts, a small skate area, and even a seasonal water park. The park also has a community garden and a little free library. While it lacks public bathrooms and may sometimes attract an undesirable crowd, it remains popular among locals. Families particularly enjoy the lunch program and the water park, which are well-maintained and provide safe entertainment for children.
my family have fun when we went so that's Park it is very clean and mostly everyone that goes there it's very friendly
Sonia C — Google review
Small neighborhood park with a lot to do. Great place for kids, young and old. Recently put in a second basketball court and upgraded the existing one. There’s also a small skate area, an awesome playground, and a seasonal water park. Not the best park for exercise (besides the court) but a good spot to relax or picnic. Only issue I have is that dogs aren’t allowed in it. Sad that some people don’t wanna clean up and ruin it for all.
Ben R — Google review

Youqi T — Google review
Nice park for kids to climb and challenge themselves with a view of the city at the top. Cute small hoop for little kids to practice basketball, small skateboarding area, community garden (i wish i had the hours), adult basketball hoops, swing set, and water sprinkler seasonally open, complete with a little free library. No public bathrooms is a negative, and sometimes it can draw in the wrong crowd, but it's our favorite basketball park.
Kathryn I — Google review
Pretty quiet park when I went there. No dogs allowed which was kind of a bummer, not followed very strictly and doesn’t seem to be enforced but still a rule. Nice look over the city as it is on top of the hill so not a bad view at all. Playground seemed to be in pretty good shape.

26Woonasquatucket River Greenway Bike Path

4.6

Cycling park
The Woonasquatucket River Greenway Bike Path is a delightful escape for outdoor enthusiasts, stretching from downtown Providence to Johnston. This scenic trail offers a perfect blend of nature and urban charm as it meanders alongside the picturesque Woonasquatucket River. While it's on the shorter side compared to other bike paths, it still provides an invigorating workout with plenty of opportunities to spot local wildlife and enjoy public art installations along the way.
A beautiful area to walk, bike, run along the river. Also nice place to sit in the sun enjoying nature. Some areas are more quiet than others, as some are alongside a busy road.

Anita M — Google review
Beautiful and quiet trail to bike, run or take your dog for a walk. The fall leaves are exceptional and the water is so pretty.
Alexandria H — Google review
Pretty good trail. The park area where I parked was very ghetto and people were doing drugs near the playground. I did the complete trail end to end. The Johnston side didn't have many sights, the side where I did a lot of street skating could use better signs.
David — Google review
Nice bike trail that goes from downtown Providence through Johnston to the outskirts of North Providence. It’s on the shorter side for bike trails, but a full out and back is still a good workout. As the name suggests, it runs along the Woonasquatucket River so there is plenty of wildlife to see along the way. You’ll pass through lots of parks and see plenty of public art along the way as well. For the most part the scenery is nice, unfortunately there’s typically an annoying amount of trash off to the side. Otherwise this is a great and peaceful way to enjoy the outdoors. Just watch out for coyotes, I see them fairly often on here and recently saw one with a bad case of mange.

I didn't expect this. As a scion of a survivor family, seeing Holocaust memorials wherever they are is very meaningful to me. I didn't expect to find one at the heart of Providence on my first visit to the city. It is unassuming but hard to miss, I sat for a while by the monuments and remembered.

Pretty park in the center of Providence. It sits right on the river where Waterfire is held. Parking is minimal so you may have to park and walk a couple of blocks. Like many city parks there was some ongoing pan-handling when we were there in the early evening.
