Nature & Wildlife Areas
Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in South Carolina is a popular tourist destination that offers a unique combination of a botanical garden and a mid-size zoo. The 70-acre themed gardens feature over 4,200 species of native and exotic plants, including a rose garden, Asian garden, Walled Garden, and Waterfall Junction with children's attractions. The 170-acre zoo is home to more than 2,000 creatures from various habitats.
We visited the zoo on a Sunday. It was moderately busy but not too bad. It had a variety of exhibits. Definitely could easily spend 2-4 hours here. Lots to see, lots of food and drink options. Tickets were $25 per person. We really enjoyed our afternoon. The bathrooms were clean, lines were short. We visited the botanical gardens in the back. Those are not worth seeing. Very basic, nothing special. Lots of walking to get to them… so I’d skip if we returned. Great place for family & kids or even just a date spot. My only complaint is the special exhibits close early, and earlier than they state. I wanted to ride a camel and see the giraffes up close and both closed “at 6” and actually closed at 5:30. So we missed that opportunity.
Kenzie K — Google review
We bought tickets online ahead of time and they were slightly cheaper and you paid for parking right then too. The park was great, we went for my son's first birthday and just walked around and enjoyed everything!! I used to go there as a kid so I wanted to take him there as well. We drove from Savannah, GA! Would definitely recommend for a family trip. Great place, looks clean, nice staff, easy pathways, animals look well taken care of. Fun all around!!
Nicole Z — Google review
We were visiting from out of town and looking for something to do and what a pleasant surprise we loved the zoo and gardens! There's lots of animals to see, some we hadn't seen in any zoos back home. Then you can take their new sky tram (included in ticket) to visit the garden side. I'm not a huge fan of plants so I didn't have high expectations, but that side was excellent as well! Right now they have Lego sculptures on display which is fun. Lots of paths to explore and a huge kid area with water features (seasonal) and other fun things. If I were local I would definitely buy a membership.
Ashley C — Google review
I can’t believe this place is only an hour and a half from my house—how have I never been here before? I was absolutely blown away from top to bottom. The entire zoo is incredibly elaborate, and you get to see every type of animal, bird, reptile, and fish you can imagine. It was truly unbelievable. I saw stuff i never saw before and I am a zoo addict. The closeness to animals was amazing. Every animal looked happy and well cared for, and the enclosures were spotless. The price was very reasonable, and the staff was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what they do. I’m still shocked by how many different animals you can see here. Five stars doesn’t even come close to doing it justice. If you’ve never been, you need to go. I visited at a time when there was almost no one there, but I’ve heard it can get busy, and annoying —so definitely try to pick your timing. Either way, it’s worth every minute and penny. Im coming back this week with my little brother sponsor.
Matt — Google review
Always love a trip to the Zoo with the family. This time we headed to the botanical gardens. Did not disappoint. Amazing staff, lots to see and the air ride over the lake was great amd saved us a walk between the Zoo and botanical gardens. Will definitely return in the spring.
Keisa C — Google review
Went on a fairly busy day, but were able to move through everything in about 3.5 hrs with two young kids. Loved this zoo. Its not too big and provides a lot of shade on the paths and theres a good mix of indoor/outdoor exhibits, so going in summer won't be horrible. Theres a lot of events for kids like animal feeding, obstacle courses, carousel, and lots of food/bathroom stations scattered around. For 2 adults and 2 kids, it was over $100 to get in, but that didnt include the extra costs for animal feeding and extra events.
Andrew Y — Google review
We’ve been here twice already, and we really love this place! Everything is compact, so you don’t have to walk too much. There are so many animals, all of them are adorable. Sometimes you can even see the feeding time, usually around noon. The area is clean and well-kept. I love animals, so I try to come here as often as I can.
Lina G — Google review
The animals at Riverbanks Zoo are well cared for and very well fed. The zoo is small enough to walk in an afternoon but has so many animals and things to see that you could easily spend the entire day! Definitely get the upgraded family membership. Feeding the animals over and over was a must when we went.

Park
Nature & Parks
Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park is a picturesque green space located at the headwaters of the Congaree River. It offers various outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, and picnicking. The park features historic landmarks like the Columbia canal, textile mill, and waterworks. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll along the paved waterfront path or attend outdoor concerts at the brick amphitheater. The park also provides scenic views of the river and opportunities for swimming.
This is a beautiful spot to get outside and enjoy some fresh air! Whether you’re walking along the Congaree River or riding bikes, the path offers stunning views as it runs between the river and the canal. The towering trees and peaceful scenery make it a really enjoyable place to spend time. We visited in the evening and noticed it can get a bit busy with families, but there’s still plenty of space to spread out. There’s also a small workout area for adults if you want to add a little exercise to your walk, and bathrooms are conveniently located before you cross the bridge to the main path. It’s a well-maintained park with plenty to offer, and we’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for a relaxing walk, bike ride, or just a quiet spot to enjoy nature.
Melissa J — Google review
Awesome trail with a wild surprise! Columbia Canal and Riverfront Park is one of my favorite spots to run. The trail is smooth, scenic, and perfect for a peaceful workout or walk. You get a mix of nature, water views, and history all in one place. What made my last visit unforgettable? I spotted a real alligator swimming along the canal! Totally unexpected and a reminder that you’re in nature’s backyard. Don’t worry—it kept its distance, but it definitely made the experience exciting! Highly recommend this park if you’re in Columbia—whether you’re a runner, a walker, or just looking to enjoy a bit of wildlife in the city. 📍Trail: Clean & wide 🌳 Scenery: Green, peaceful, with water views 🐊 Bonus: Surprise gator sighting!
Roaring S — Google review
We enjoyed a wonderful time walking some of the beautiful river front trail and resting at times in the benches. A safe and beautiful place to visit and you might even pack a lunch. The rest rooms were clean. People of all ages were tubing down the river too!
Shelly S — Google review
Nice place to stop by good for a walk , bike or a run. The view on both sides is peaceful with water flowing on its way. Lots of benches to relax or read a book. They have hammock stand just bring you hammock and enjoy the water sound or take a nap. They have clean restrooms available. Plenty of parking space.
Babita — Google review
Pretty cool spot. It has an interesting history. The river seemed pretty clean. Utilized by local walkers and cyclists. People having picnics. And I really like that there are hammock frames down by the river.

Its a beautiful peaceful walk along the river. We saw Blue herons, turtles and the Rocky Shoals Spider Lily ( a rare species not to be picked). Beautiful and relaxing.

We walked for a good cause. In to the Darkness, suicide prevention in honor of Chris and my brother Frankie. Meet a lot of ppl and it was a great turnout.
Melonie G — Google review
Not my favorite place but it’s still really nice. Took my wife and the dogs here today. Plenty of shade and days like today you’ll need it. I’ll likely go back because I didn’t see a gator today and I need that in my life. I’m a Florida boy so there’s that.

Riverbanks Botanical Garden

Botanical garden
Riverbanks Botanical Garden, located within Riverbanks Zoo, is a 170-acre outdoor paradise that showcases over 6,000 plants and animals. The garden features themed areas for both native and exotic plants, providing an immersive experience for visitors of all ages. In addition to the diverse flora, there are eight distinct animal habitats and seven award-winning themed gardens to explore. For families with kids, the seasonal splash park known as Waterfall Junction offers a fun way to cool off during hot summer days.
Fabulous spot! Great gardens and lots of things for the kids. They have a water park there where kids can run around in the fountains and plenty of seating for the parents. Take a tram over to the zoo for free to see the Otters and sea lions!
Gerard D — Google review
Overall good experience. Wish there was better signs for directions and for the tram. Also wish there would have been more animals, there was a lot missing and that was sad for my kids and myself honestly. Bathrooms were decent and clean though.
Moriah S — Google review
It's a great place for all ages. I enjoy a walk through the botanical garden in every season. There is a lot of construction going on with the creation of the saluda sky ride. The woodland path is closed due to that.
Marguerite S — Google review
It is amazing. There was a time when I was worried for the future of the zoo because a lot of things were dated and not as nice as they used to be. Riverbanks has outdone itself. The staff are so sweet. It's like visiting the Chick-fil-A of zoos. I have 4 kids (8,5,2, and 9m) they all loved it. The best part of the zoo is definitely waterfall junction! All of my kids played for hours. That space is so well thought out for families of all sizes and needs. The aquarium is awesome, without kids it would be my favorite spot! We packed a lunch, snacks, and plenty of water because I'm not a fan of stadium prices. It's not even a complaint because at least it's allowed.
Nancy G — Google review
Great experience with granddaughter. We have a membership & go often. Zoo employees are the best...helpful and informative. Buy a membership with extra activities included like carousel rides, birds feeding. Granddaughter rode carousel 5 times that day.
Sharon H — Google review
This was our second time there and had a great time with our 5 year old. There are a good amount of animals but the park is not spread out too much so you can get through it quickly if you want (you don't have to though). Park seems pretty well maintained and they have another area with Botanical Gardens, an open space for kids along with a waterfall area, a little river, some normal slides, and other fun things for them to do. Between this and the zoo you can keep your kids entertained pretty much all day if you want to. When we went, the new skyline was just finished, and needed maintenance. When that's up and running it will be a very nice way to connect the botanical gardens / kids area to the rest of the zoo. The current way being a longer walk or a tram ride can each take a decent amount of time. Please note that you can definitely bring in snacks for you and your kids along with some drinks and maybe even food for lunch if you really want to. I don't know how much they really check for coolers but we had no problem bringing our bag in. Also they have nice water refilling stations around the zoo and they'll even give you a cup of ice not one of the restaurants if you ask. Really great service overall. We may look into getting a membership for next year.
Justin G — Google review
Love the areas. Greatest area for kids to cool off. Remember to have them in a swim suit or change of clothes and a towel.

I've always loved Riverbanks Zoo. They've expanded and lots of cool features have been added.

West Columbia Riverwalk Park and Amphitheater, located on the Congaree River, is a versatile outdoor space that offers something for everyone. It features an impressive amphitheater and connects with the Three Rivers Greenway, providing ample opportunities for leisurely strolls or invigorating runs along the river. The park is also home to Carraway Park and Leos Landing, inclusive playgrounds designed to accommodate children of all abilities.
Such a cute little park! Came here on a whim and had a nice little experience. The amphitheatre is a nice place to sit and view the river (I'm not sure if they have shows there or not as I just went on a random weekday). There are benches for sitting near the water if you want to get a closer view, and there's actually steps down directly to the water where I saw lots of people bringing down tubes to float down the river (seemed so nice, would love to try!). It was a lovely little summer break!
Colleen E — Google review
I drove from Charlotte to visit the West Columbia Riverwalk, which is about a 1 hour and 45-minute drive. I went alone to try something different from Carowinds or Wet 'n Wild, wanting to enjoy some time in nature. I didn't make an online reservation. Upon arrival, I found that they only accept cash, and there is no ATM on-site. They offer various tube options, and I decided to rent the $35 tube. There's also a $5 rope fee available. A life jacket is required, and I brought my own. Parking is free, with options ranging from across the street to a 5-minute walk, depending on where you park. I had a great time and highly recommend bringing a paddle or float stick. I have float sticks, but silly me left them in the car by accident. The site also has bathrooms and a shower to clean off after your trip. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and highly recommend this place!

I’ve been waiting to experience the Riverwalk in Columbia, SC, and it was absolutely worth it! The moment I stepped onto the path, I was greeted with pure tranquility. The combination of nature, fresh air, and the calming sound of the river made it such a peaceful escape. Everything was well-kept and clean, which made the walk even more enjoyable. The sights along the way were simply beautiful — from the flowing water to the natural greenery, it felt like a little hidden gem right in the city. I left feeling refreshed and already know I’ll be back again soon. Highly recommend if you need a dose of nature and serenity! 🌿✨

Black Rooster

Italian restaurant
Black Rooster is a lively bar with stunning city views, especially from its rooftop overlooking the river and the cityscape. The self-proclaimed "Frenchish" spot offers traditional French cuisine like quiche, croque monsieur, tuna tartare, and mussels. The menu features shareable plates and main courses catering to vegetarians, pescatarians, and carnivores. Indulge in half a dozen oysters before your main course.
Ventured across the river and Found Free parking near by. I went to the roof top To check out the views and service was super friendly. She gave me some great recommendations and provided great service. I started with the Hugo on the rocks and enjoyed the pear flavor although I prefer real glass over plastic. The beet salad was the highlight of my meal. I enjoyed it throughly and it was so simple. The dressing doesn’t overpower the dish, instead I felt like it accentuated the flavors. The pistachios added a hint of sweetness snd a delightful crunch. I also had the whipped feta and I couldn’t decide if I enjoyed the bread or the cheese more. Delightful experience.
Nik K — Google review
I recently dined solo here, and the service was easily the highlight of the experience. My server had a great attitude, was attentive, and made sure I was well taken care of. The space itself felt a bit cramped, the downstairs dining area could definitely benefit from a more open and refined layout. I initially ordered the Caesar salad, but the lettuce was wilted, likely from sitting under a heat source or soaking too long in dressing. Fortunately, the server was quick to remake it without hesitation, which I really appreciated. For drinks, the Hugo Spritz was refreshing and well-balanced. The Chrysalis cocktail, however, had an unpleasant chemical taste, almost like tire rubber, definitely a miss. I also tried the bolognese, which was pretty good. The noodles were slightly overcooked, but overall the flavor profile was very nice. Overall, the service was excellent and genuinely improved the experience, the food and atmosphere didn’t quite meet my expectations but I’ll try anything at least three times.

Had a nice dinner at Black Rooster. The staff was friendly. Had the Burrata to start - the meal was a good refresher but the Burrata could be of better quality. The main meals were equally tasty. The food preparation was timely! Would return.

I couldn’t recommend Black Rooster more heavily. The staff as a whole make their guests feel welcome, special, and at home. Our server, Ashley, was so kind and helpful. She happily answered our questions and ensured our experience and meals were PERFECT. The ambiance is elegant while maintaining a comforting and cozy feel. The food was unbelievably well-priced considering the amount and quality of the food. It was also great to go to a restaurant that did not rush you out of there, only worried about turning tables. Black Rooster truly allows you to enjoy your food and the experience as a whole. We will definitely be back soon!
Samantha D — Google review
Our first time here was spectacular. The cuisine was absolutely delicious, especially with the fact that we tried dishes that we had never tasted before. They proved the old adage that it's sometimes good to step outside of your comfort zone. High regards to the chef and kitchen staff! The modern Italian atmosphere complimented our food, right down to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin crooning in the background. And, the service was impeccable. Zoey, our server, was a true delight. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about our experience. Without a doubt, my wife and I have added the Black Rooster as a new favorite restaurant for date nights!
Alex M — Google review
Wife and I went just to try the place. We went to the roof top to get away from street noise. We started with drinks which unfortunately were very watered down. We then ordered the brisket burger and pasta. The brisket burger had no trditional brisket but supposedly had brisket mixed with the hamburger. We both love brisket and regularly smoke our own. Raw beef that could to used to make brisket is NOT brisket. Anyone that tell you different needs to return to culinary school. As expected it tasted like a cheap, very overcooked burger to us. Add insult to injury the fries the accompanied the hamburger were delivered cold. The pasta was under cooked far beyond Al dente and the rest of the dish was just as unremarkable as the mixed drinks. The menu promised elevated cuisine but delivered less than we have had a decent local restaurants for half the price. Based on our experience we cannot recommend this establishment.

Here’s a NED-style review for Black Rooster: --- ✅ What Works Well - Stylish, modern spot offering elevated Latin American cuisine with a creative twist. - Standout dishes like empanadas, ceviche, and well-seasoned grilled meats. - Chic ambiance with a welcoming, upscale-casual vibe. - Craft cocktails and curated wine list pair well with the menu. - Friendly, attentive service enhances the dining experience. --- 👎 What to Watch Out For - Portions can lean small for the price. - Can get crowded—reservations are a good idea. - Parking may be limited depending on location. - Not ideal for picky eaters or those unfamiliar with Latin-inspired flavors. --- 🎯 Verdict Black Rooster offers bold Latin flavors in a refined setting—great for date nights, foodies, and those looking to try something a bit upscale yet approachable. Rating: 4.5 / 5 --- Want best dish or drink recommendations?

Terra is a bistro with a Southern-leaning menu and skyline views. It offers a romantic atmosphere for couples and friends to enjoy. The restaurant's provisions are sourced from local farmers, ensuring fresh and high-quality ingredients. A wine distributor recommended Terra as a romantic Valentine's Day choice due to its world-class chef, farm-to-table food experience, and beautiful ambiance. The name 'Terra' means earth, symbolizing the grounded and lasting nature of relationships.
Terra was amazing. We had a large group and everyone raved about their meals. Meals we ordered and loved were the Steak Frites, Korean Short Rib Lettuce Wraps, and Chinese Braised Pork Belly. I got the Crispy Eggplant and it was phenomenal. It was actually crispy and not soggy. Desserts we chose were peanut butter pie with a lovely toasted marshmallow topping, a banana bread cake with ice cream and a cookie with Maker’s Mark ice cream. They had some very unusual ice cream flavors and dessert options. Several agreed they were all delicious, but the peanut butter pie was the best. The drink menu was also quite varied. The servers were exceptional and the atmosphere was comfortable yet elegant. If you’re in the Vista area of Columbia, you need to plan a meal at Terra. (I have no pics of the food. We all just dug in)

The lamb mac n cheese was absolutely AMAZING. Filipino chicken dumplings were also tasty. Our entrees, pan-seared flounder and spring lamb were superb! And the service was excellent! Highly recommended for a date night or double date!

Pleasant early Father’s Day dinner at this fine restaurant. The cocktails were excellent. We were a party of five. The lamb Mac was a group favorite; everyone enjoyed it. The house salad with goat cheese was also good. Two orders of the ribeye steak and fries were brought to our table. Perfect medium rare with excellent fries. My scallops were perfect. The lamb entree was also very good. The one thing I would like to add, apart from the excellent food was the time given to us at the table to talk and enjoy the atmosphere between drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert. I was pleasantly surprised that we were not “rushed” out in any way. You don’t see that in many restaurants in the US. I will be returning, for sure

Nice Columbia restaurant. I've only been here a handful of times over the past ten years, but I've not been disappointed. The service is excellent. The drink selection is excellent. The food is great. If your are an amari fan, this place has a good selection - possibly the best I've found in the city. This is not a weekly date place for us (due to the price), but it fits the bill for an occasional special date option

I can not say enough thank yous to the Terra team. I had a last minute event come up for about 20-25 people that I needed and event space for. I sent an email via the Terra website explaining what type of event I was having and the number of quests and within the hour I received a response! Mike Lee and his team did PHENOMENAL! They were absolutely attentive and stayed in contact with me not only during the process but also the night of. They made sure that guest were aware of their tabs and the stipulation I had set in place in terms of beverages. I would like to also shout out Kathryn T. It is evident that when there is a great leader present (Mike Lee) employees are also amazing. Kathryn and Mike were both so patient and kind. When I walked in I needed to rearrange some tables in the event space and without a question Kathryn fixed the tables as I needed.Kathryn went ABOVE and BEYOND the night of the event as a server. I was slightly stressed about having to plan such a last minute event (about a week and half time to plan) and Mike Lee, Kathryn and everyone else on the Terra team made that night so beautiful and everything ran so smoothly I had no stress at all. Also, there is complimentary vallet which was also amazing as my guests did not have to worry about finding a parking spot. I look forward to doing business again in the near future with Mike Lee and the Terra team. Thank you all for your phenomenal service, kindness, patience and every other good thing you do and continue to do!

My partner and I just left this restaurant and I wanted to share our experience because we were looking forward to this and we left very disappointed. I want to start out by saying this was not a horrible experience, the atmosphere and ambience was very romantic and relaxing and the wine was exceptional, what was lacking was in the food and service. I had the scallops and he had the pork chop, all i could taste was salt in my food and his pork chop was unevenly cooked with parts of his pork chop being rare, medium, and well done/ dry. The service felt inattentive and we were there to celebrate my partners graduation and the experience felt unsatisfactory and was not worth the money we spent. We had a gift card that took 100 off and i still feel like we spent more money than what we got.

Diner
Restaurant
Compton's Kitchen is a traditional diner adorned with a modest wooden interior, serving delicious American comfort food. Established by Perry Compton in 1977, the eatery gained recognition for its delectable biscuits made from high-quality flour supplied by Allen Brothers Milling Company. Presently owned by Martha Cooke, this establishment continues to uphold the biscuit-making tradition. If you crave an affordable breakfast or lunch in a welcoming and well-maintained environment, Compton's Kitchen is the ideal choice.
Easy-going diner with very friendly service and tasty staples. We came on a Saturday morning and got in quick despite the restaurant being full. The prices were extremely reasonable. The portion sizes were generous as well. We really enjoyed the fresh, hot, fluffy biscuits!

First time here for breakfast. Angel did a wonderful job of waiting the entire dining area, as there must have been a no show. Generous portions at very reasonable prices. The only complaint was the biscuits. They always get high marks on reviews, but ours were stiff and dry. Mine had gravy so no problem. We'll try them again soon.

This is a great hidden gem. Everyone of the staff members, esp the cashier, were extremely friendly. You're greeted upon entering the building. I watched them interact with other customers and they knew names and took care with each thanking them for their business and asking them to come again. I ordered take out and did not wait long before having my order. My food was fresh when I got home, even though I made several stops. Everything was cooked to my specifics and I had more than enough to share with my mom. If you're looking for a cozy spot to eat for breakfast or lunch or need a catering service check this place out. Prices are reasonable either way.

Compton's does it once again! This time our company ordered catfish and meatloaf dinners. The candied yams were REAL potatoes, not canned. The collards were seasoned perfectly. Catfish was tender, and the cornbread is the BEST. THANK YOU ASIA

I couldn't decide between the ribeye plate or fried bologna plate....I'm sooooo glad I did!! It was worth every bit on that tastey, moist buttermilk biscuit 😋 I did start lusting after my neighbors French toast so I have to come back to satisfy that craving

Day 2

Northwest side of town
For day 2, we recommend exploring the northwest side side of town. Start the day off with Columbiana Centre, then wind down and take it easy by the time you get to Segra Park. All together, your day would be filled with about 7 hours of non-stop fun.

Shopping mall
Shopping
Columbiana Centre is an indoor mall that has been open since 1990 and is considered one of the nicest malls in Columbia. It houses four major department stores, including Dillard's, Belk, JCPenney, and Sears, as well as over 100 additional retailers. The food court features an antique carousel and free WiFi. Families can enjoy the indoor play area near JC Penney where children can engage in imaginative play with various activities available.
A Family-Friendly Gem: Columbiana Centre Columbiana Centre in Columbia, SC, is a refreshing find in an era of disappearing malls. This vibrant center offers nearly every type of store imaginable, alongside a great food court. What truly sets it apart are the fantastic family-friendly amenities: a Dave & Busters, a carousel, face painting, a cotton candy machine, and a free kids' play area. Even the bathrooms were spotless. As out-of-towners, my daughter and I were thrilled with this unexpected discovery. We'll definitely be back!
Alaina G — Google review
Columbiana Centre is a great mall! In a day and age in which malls are dying out, I'm so happy that Columbia still has this mall to serve us. In particular, I love the Total Spa, where you can get a great massage for a (relatively) cheap price. I LOVE Auntie Anne's pretzels, and it's great that this mall has two (2) of them that you can go to. I love that it has a Barnes & Noble, which are increasingly hard to come by, and two (2) great clothing stores, Belk's and Dillard's. Even though I don't personally go to some of the shops that they have, like Spencer's or Victoria's Secret, it's a great option for those that do patronize those stores. They also have, in my opinion, the best food court in Columbia, which has almost any food item you can think of. Now, some of the vendors are kind of annoying, but that's just part of the deal when you go to a shopping mall. All-in-all, Columbiana Centre is great and I'm glad that it's still kicking!
John D — Google review
Great mall with all the basic stores but it was nice and clean! One thing every mall is missing now a days are the true boutiques that sell unique clothing, not the basic stuff you can get anywhere. Food court had a good selection of food and the bathrooms were clean!
Frank B — Google review
Love this Mall! We went Miss A in the mall but this place has so many hidden gems🥰

I would have giving five stars but due to unexpected cost I was a bit disappointed. I clearly asked for the $80.00 massage and cleared how much even after taxes so I agreed to go ahead with my massage. During the start of the massage a therapist taps me on the shoulder and says my total has changed to $140.00 because two people will be working on me. I also mentioned to the lady to ease up on the pressure because she was really rough. I thought this would could of been a better experience if they would of asked me first for two people and the therapist wasn't so rough.
J — Google review
I don't always go to a super-regional shopping mall, but when I do, I make sure my white New Balances are responsibly tightened for maximum arch support. …ANYWAYS, HOLY MOLY, folks, let me tell you about Columbiana Centre! I walked in, and the gleam off the tile floor was so bright, I thought I was going to need welding goggles! KA-POW! Right in the retinas! This place is clean! I’m talking, "Mom's coming over to visit" clean! I checked the grout in the food court—immaculate. That is an A-plus for structural integrity and sanitation, right there. And the layout! We’re talking a masterpiece of one-level engineering. No confusing escalators, no "where in the Sam Hill am I?" moments. It's a straight shot of smart, efficient family shopping. They've got the big guns, too! A Belk and a Dillard's? That's what I call a "Dad's Day Double-Header!" You can get a reliable pair of khakis at JCPenney, and then, BAM! You're at the Barnes & Noble, inspecting the woodworking section. But the real genius move? Dave & Buster's. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! That’s a strategic family victory. The kids are going bananas, the wife is happy, and I can get a perfectly serviceable cheeseburger. That’s value! This place understands the mission. Get in, get the goods, get out, and maybe... just maybe... get a free sample of bourbon chicken from the food court. This mall is mall-velous! Five stars!
It's D — Google review
Well, it’s a mall—nothing overly special, but it does the job. There are some nice kids’ activities and the usual selection of food places, so if you have time in Columbus it can be a pleasant outing or half-day walk. Everything is on one level and it’s conveniently located near a large movie complex. What earns it four stars are the two anchor stores, Belk and Dillard’s, which have excellent stock—better than some of the so-called “A” stores in Raleigh, NC. Belk even has a separate men’s store, something you don’t often see outside of Macy’s in San Francisco.

Frankie's Fun Park is a lively family-friendly outpost with a wide range of activities for all ages. From sprawling go-kart tracks to arcades and other amusements, there's something for everyone. The park offers various attractions such as mini-golf courses, laser tag, batting cages, an indoor fun house, and bumper boats. It's the perfect place for families to come together and enjoy some quality time while indulging in pizza and games.
We come to Frankie's Fun Park every time we visit family, and my kids absolutely love it! They have a large selection of games, and while some machines don't always seem to work, there's still plenty to keep everyone entertained. The go-karts are by far my kids' favorite — they have a blast every time. No matter your age, there's always something fun to do here. It's a great spot for family fun!

Place was a blast! Took the kids there for a fun day but this place would also make for a really fun date night! Fun for all ages, couldn't get the kids to leave.
Elijah S — Google review
It was a great time here. We went through the week, so it's not crowded at all. The lines were short, they had so many games. The racetrack was really fun. It wasn't too expensive. It was your average arcade gaming anywhere from a dollar to 5 dollars per game. Racing was only like $8 each. And you got like three or four laps around, which I found that fair pricing, very clean. They have a small cafeteria type restaurant. Serving hamburg's,chicken, pizza, pop, beer, slushies and more. We were traveling from florida to pennsylvania.Stop by south carolina, a little out of our way, but was well worth the stop.

Went today around 12 to 4pm. I wanted to specifically recognize 2 employees for their wonderful customer service and attitudes. One specifically was the lady working the desk where you pay for golf, go carts, etc. She was extremely pleasant and her customer service was excellent. She had a wonderful cheerful attitude and very helpful. The other was the manager today. He was extremely kind and helpful when I got things mixed up there. He quickly fixed my issue. He had excellent customer service. Overall we had a great experience, staff was helpful. We saw staff members cleaning the games and areas.

Floor 23 at Escape Plan Columbia was an enjoyable and engaging experience. The puzzles were thought-provoking, and the room setup was impressive. The host, Carter, did a fantastic job in immersing participants into the story with his various character voices. His guidance and vigilance were crucial in helping our group escape from the challenging room. We had a blast and are eager to try another room at Escape Plan Columbia.
Super fun experience for my birthday today! We did "The Cabin" and it was perfect - not too hard, but satisfying when we solved it! Thanks to Game Master Caitlyn for all her hints. Will definitely be back soon!

My husband and I had an absolute blast at Escape Plan Columbia. We are relative beginners at escape rooms, and we chose “What Happened to Detective Magnum?” as our room this evening. It was such a blast, and the game master (Emily) was delightful. The game was super well thought out and I was so impressed by how 80’s it felt. We will definitely be back!!!

We had the BEST experience. Lindsey and the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing. I originally scheduled a room for my daughter’s birthday but had to cancel because our dog had a seizure. Not only did Lindsey go above and beyond that day to be empathetic and kind, but a month later, when I called back to reschedule, the other staff member had the note, and knew exactly the situation. Then when we came in, Lindsey asked us how our dog was doing. Above and beyond customer service, not to mention we had a blast doing The Cabin room.

Segra Park is a modern, family-friendly stadium where you can enjoy a sports experience with the Columbia Fireflies baseball team and concerts. The park has a comfortable atmosphere and great views of the city. Ticket prices start at $5 and there are several local breweries for drinks.
We went for New Years Eve 12/31/24. Parking was fairly easy to find. Entrance easy also. The christmas lights were beautiful. We also eatch the fireworks that evening. We strolled around and took plenty of pictures. We also stopped to purchase hot chocolate and items to make smores from a vendor on the premises. Sat down over a fire pit to make them was alot of fun. I would definitely recommend coming here.

I have enjoyed attending a game at this park. This evening, we went for the Christmas lights and were amazed by what they had done, especially considering this is only the second year of the lights. Fast food restaurant
Five Guys is a fast-food chain that offers customizable burgers, fries, and hot dogs. They provide complimentary peanuts while customers wait for their orders. This was my first visit to Five Guys, and I have to admit that I've been missing out. The food was incredibly tasty, and I couldn't help but lick my plate and fingers clean after devouring their Bacon Cheeseburger wrapped in lettuce. It was absolutely delicious!
I ordered a double cheeseburger for my husband, and the varieties of toppings they had are awesome. I ordered hot dogs for me. they were nice and grilled with yummy toppings.

I stopped by around 3 for a late lunch. I got the little cheeseburger with a little fry. My fries were fresh and tasted good. My burger on the other hand didn't taste that good. It was cold, cheese wasn't melted, and seemed as if it was sitting for awhile or something. Just didn't have that fresh off the grill taste or hotness coming through the foil. Staff was friendly and establishment was clean

Not good… passing through on our way home from a cruise and wanted a quick meal. I consider myself a five guys aficionado as I eat at them frequently… Today was entirely different. Restaurant was busy as expected at lunch time on a Sunday but it wasn’t crazy busy. We waited almost 30 minutes on two single cheeseburgers and some fries. When we finally got our food it was all cold. My wife’s burger was pretty much raw and this is not acceptable. Whoever is in charge needs to know. We will not be back and you probably don’t care. As a fellow business owner, thought you’d like to know.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We ordered 3 meals today, and the customer service was excellent — honestly one of my best experiences at a Five Guys. The cashier, Angel Y, was very patient with us and made the whole process easy and enjoyable. We don’t usually eat at Five Guys (maybe once a year), but after today we might be coming back more often. Our food was very good and exactly as ordered. We drink unsweetened tea and found that theirs was practically water. We showed them and they said they’d brew a new batch. They also said it would take about 10 minutes which we appreciated knowing! Employees were moving quickly and the bathroom was clean. We were glad we stopped at this location!

Place was not clean or being cleaned. 🍔 French fries are very good and abundant, the only good feature of our visit. Service was too slow & extremely disorganized, 5 tables were empty and no one was cleaning them. Sign outside said Great Value, but it was much more expensive than the food was worth. Next time I'll go to an actual restaurant for a better meal for less money. Can't recommend this to anyone.

I’ve always been a Five Guys customer since they made their way to the Deep South. This is my home Five Guys and I haven’t had a problem throughout the years. The customer service seems to be okay and my food has always came out hot and fresh. There’s times where it’s really busy during lunch hours and it’s hard to get food. Deli
Restaurant
No Name Deli, located on Elmwood, is a popular spot for lunch. The deli offers a simple space with tables and serves basic American sandwiches along with their signature Greek salad. Customers can expect big portions and fresh-made sandwiches, salads, daily specials, and soup. While the deli used to be cash-only, they now accept credit cards as well. There's also an ATM inside for convenience.
Absolutely amazing! Melissa opened the door as I was trying to come in with baby, bags and all. She got my tray and cup for me. Helped with food recommendations, as well! Was such a blessing! Really appreciated her!

A Columbia Legend That Always Delivers No Name Deli isn't just a sandwich shop; it's a Columbia institution. For over 30 years, this spot has earned its reputation for being fast, fresh, and no frills- exactly what you want in a classic deli. While they may have a "no-nonsense" approach, they put nothing but love into the food. Don't let the name fool you: this place is famous, and for good reason. It's the perfect spot for a quick, quality lunch that feels like an authentic mom-and-pop experience

Service was really bad today. Pasta salad isn’t the same since Glen left! You allow someone to make it that doesn’t eat it according to coworkers. Spices are too much, mayo is too much. Food is just off and it is so disappointing. I see why the business is off. I didn’t know Glen sold until I moved back to Columbia with my job. You aren’t following his recipes if he gave them to you!! Hope you get it together or you guys will close. Other people complained while there today also.

Old school deli with great gyros, sandwiches and salads The cafeteria style ordering process works well And can accommodate busy lunch rushes. I've been told this place as a landmark in Columbia and I will surely come back the next time I'm in town.
Dave J — Google review
Opens early for you brunchers! Cafeteria style - grab a tray and silverware, fill your beverage, desserts,(menu is behind you), be ready to place your order (side of mayo based pasta salad is a good addition), slide over to cash register. Two separate seating areas and restroom in back of seating side of register. Good prices, fast service. Reason why this place has been a go to and around for many decades. Patty melt and spinach salad are really good, but what isn’t? So many menu decisions.

Hendrix is an industrial-style restaurant in downtown Columbia, serving a diverse menu of creative small plates and hearty mains. Since 2018, the rooftop bar has been a popular spot for enjoying bites like gochujang deviled eggs and drinks such as the Indah Espresso Old Fashioned. The restaurant offers a mix of local and global influences in its dishes and cocktails.
When I say one of the best places to go in Columbia, I mean that. From the atmosphere to the food, and the service from the staff was Top Tier. This is definitely my new go to place. My wife enjoyed her birthday dinner and all of the drinks was superb 👌. Just know I'll always support especially if my favorite waiter "Mary" I think that was her name is there...Thanks again for a great experience.

Tonight was my first time dining at Hendrix and it was an awesome experience. Mekenzie was phenomenally outstanding as our waitress tonight. From start to finish, she did an impeccable job. The food, from the appetizers to dessert AH-MA-ZING-AH!!! I really enjoyed myself with my friends tonight at Hendrix.

Great American fusion restaurant. Their menu includes dishes that take inspiration from around the world. My favorites were the spicy lamb naan and Peri Peri Chicken. Our server was great and very patient with our large group. Prices were expectedly high, and I'd definitely come back if I come back to Colombia!

I was really looking forward to trying Hendrix after seeing great reviews on Facebook. I travel here once a month for work and was excited to have a new spot to add to my routine. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I sat at the bar and was completely ignored for several minutes. The bartender was making drinks for a couple, which I understood, but she didn’t even acknowledge me. After finishing, she walked away. I was about to leave when she finally dropped off a menu without saying a word — no greeting, no water, nothing. When she came back, she asked what I wanted to drink. I asked if she could make a flavored tea, and she said no, so I ordered water. I decided on the stuffed quail with dirty rice and greens. A gentleman sat to my right, and it was clear she knew him. She brought him water and started chatting. Soon two of his friends joined, and her full attention was on their group. She eventually brought my food — which was actually really good — but that was the last I heard from her until I asked for my check. My water glass stayed empty while she refilled theirs; I finally had to ask another waitress for a refill. The food was delicious, but the service made me feel unwelcome. Even the hostess didn’t say goodbye when I left. I was so excited to try this place, but after how I was treated, I don’t think I’ll be back. $52 wasted — because customer service means more to me than good food. I even left a note on the receipt that said, “If you were more attentive, I would’ve left a much larger tip.

We ordered the blue crab hush puppies and they were phenomenal! So, we thought we would keep the seafood crab vibe going and ordered the soft crab sandwich. Oh my gosh!! Why did we do that! I am from Beaufort, SC so I have grown up eating blue crabs and the likes. I must commend this restaurant on the idea to serve a whole crab sandwich; might I add shells included. This was not and is not a good choice on their menu. We basically purchased the part of the crab people throw away. I would not recommend the soft crab sandwich unless you crave soft shells. To a better note: the service was awesome and atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night.

High end, very tasty food and cocktails. Nice rooftop bar. Our server was excellent and we will be back.

We had a party of 11 that visited Columbia, SC and we chose Hendrix to have dinner before our show. It was a great decision. We had great meals, really good drinks and the service was really good. So good that after the comedy show we ended up back at Hendrix to enjoy the rooftop. It's a really good place to lounge on the rooftop and great for dinner.

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Real Mexico Restaurant is a cozy Mexican eatery in Columbia, offering traditional dishes and refreshing margaritas in a laid-back setting. The menu features delectable options such as Grande Guacamole, Carnitas BBQ Nachos, Real Mexico Salad, and Sopa de Mariscos. Guests can savor Baja Fish Tacos with beer-battered cod or indulge in the Fajita Burrito with guacamole and queso.
Went here with my parents during Family Day after BCT graduation, one of the first stops off post in 10 weeks. The tacos were authentic, well-seasoned, and tasted fresh. Portions were fair, and the presentation was solid. My mom, who is from Mexico, really liked the food, which says a lot about the quality. The atmosphere was casual and comfortable, and service was straightforward with no issues. Prices matched the quality. After weeks of chow hall food, it felt like a proper meal. A good option in Columbia if you want authentic Mexican without anything gimmicky.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for years. It’s always packed and I’ve heard good things from people online. Here’s my honest option: I ordered street tacos with chicken, rice and beans. The tacos were ok, not much flavor and a little dry. The beans needed a little more flavor. Rice was good with mixed peas and carrots. The mild salsa served with chips, tasted a little like ketchup was mixed in. The Coke I ordered was flat. Other than that, the atmosphere is awesome (great wall mural) and the staff were great.

One of the best and most authentic Mexican restaurants I've been to in the States. Food is great with fresh ingredients. It came out fast. The servers are outstanding. The atmosphere is great. They have outdoor covered dining also. We had no trouble parking but I can see how it could be difficult at certain times.

Hands down the best Mexican restaurant in the Columbia area. Food is always hot and very yummy and service is always top notch. Best tacos/burritos ever! Killer margaritas too!

We are visiting from out of town and decided to try out this restaurant down the street from the hotel. My husband and I got the chimichanga and both agreed that it’s the best chimichanga that we’ve had in the past 15 years!!! The service was super fast and the meal came out quickly. The margaritas were great, music was great, and the decorations were fun. We weren’t expecting the food to taste so good so I did not take a picture before we consumed it.😝

We were referred here by an employee at of a nearby Walmart and man, we are glad we asked her for a referral. The place was jammed packed (which means to me that it is really good. There’s a free parking lot, but it was very full, but we were able to get a spot fairly easily. The service was amazing! The food was very tasty, fresh and served hot. They also offer complementary salsa and chips. Furthermore, the prices were very reasonable for what we got. We were asked if we wanted to sit inside or out and we chose first available. They took our number, would text us when our table was ready. They told us it would be a 15 to 20 minute wait and it was only about 5 to 7 minutes. It was definitely worth the wait We sat outside on the patio. It was a very jovial place and unfortunately I did not see the inside.

Colonial Life Arena is a top-notch indoor arena located on the University of South Carolina campus. It serves as the home base for both men's and women's Gamecock basketball, hosting numerous sold-out games and NCAA tournaments. With a seating capacity of 18,000, cutting-edge audiovisual technology, and various food and beverage options available during events, it offers an exceptional experience for attendees. In addition to sporting events, the arena also hosts iconic music acts and corporate trade shows.
Spent the weekend of 3/22-3/23/2025 in Columbia SC. I attended the Lady Gamecocks 2025 NCAA Tournament second round game. The crowd was alive and cheering throughout. I paid $20.00 for parking in a nice size parking deck. The price of parking was a lot cheaper than expected. The ushers moved us all into the CLA in a reasonable amount of time. It wasn't hard finding my seats (section 112, row 20, seats 13-14). Indiana had a great game plan in the first half. The second half was a totally different story. Overall, it was a great game, and the ticket prices weren't outrageous, in my opinion. I can't comment on the food I had eaten before the game. This is a family environment, and the fans really support their Lady Gamecocks basketball team.

Exceptional Service from Karen at Colonial Life Arena I want to commend Karen, an attendant in section 113/114 for her outstanding assistance today at Colonial Life Arena. My husband and I had tickets for the circus (section 113, seats 9 and 10) but encountered unexpected challenges when we arrived—my husband, who has knee problems, struggled to manage the stairs. Karen went above and beyond to help us find alternative seating in a section with fewer stairs, ensuring my husband could enjoy the show comfortably. Her kindness and quick problem-solving made all the difference for us. We were also able to offer our original floor-level tickets to someone else, so her efforts truly helped multiple people. Karen’s professionalism and empathy turned what could have been a stressful situation into a positive experience. We are incredibly grateful for her help and wanted to share how much we appreciated her kindness. Thank you, Karen, for making our visit so much better!

Nice stadium/outdoor setting. Was here for an R&B concert. The stage is visible from all angles. Its a very large arena. Has a huge screen TV. Its set on a hill/valley type of structure where the stage is at the bottom (Like a valley) and the seating at the bottom that's level with the stage has chairs but the rest of the seating goes upwards like a hill and its grassy. Check out the pics I posted for a better visual. Overall nice ambiance.

Our first visit (Rodeo) was good. Well laid out with restrooms, food, etc. The seating is small so uncomfortable if you’re not tiny/have someone next to you that’s not tiny. Otherwise, we were very pleased and do plan to return!

Attended the Brandon Lake concert in October, 2025. The staff, law enforcement and even private security staff made it an easy and wonderful experience, despite the 13k people in attendance. My only recommendations are to eat before you arrive, as even the restaurants in walking distance were slammed with attendees. We did arrive and hour and a half early, and found parking with no issues. Entrance was easy, and the staff and law enforcement bad everything from traffic to seating was easy! For any event, just get there early enough to find your way around.

For the public there are two entrances. The entrance on Park Street has lots of steps but the entrance on Green street is level. On Green Street you can drive up and drop off. If you are there to meet graduates you can meet them on the grassy boll. Oh if you enter on the Park side road the sidewalk to the right of the building serves as a ramp. They have plenty of restrooms . Most people try to enter in the auditorium on the same side as the entrance and the line is usually long. If you walk past the restroom and go to the other side the lines are shorter. It’s a cozy auditorium. No middle isle so if you sit in the middle you will have to be ready to say excuse me over and over. The seats are comfortable. There are two large parking garages in Park street. The one across from the auditorium is always more than the one a block away.

We attended a graduation ceremony at the USC Koger Center for the Arts in Columbia, SC, and it was such a beautiful experience. 🎓 The atmosphere was elegant, the seating was comfortable, and the sound carried perfectly for the occasion. Elegant stadium with easy access from the street. There are a lot of stairs going to the second level. However, handicap access is available adjacent to the stairs along the street. The vendor will not sell alcohol if the host of the event request them not to. Staff was friendly, and prices are appropriate for a venue environment. Seating is comfortable and relaxing with specious leg room for an adult male who is 6ft 3in 220lbs. I would recommend attending events at this location.

Came here all the way from Florida to see The Lion King. This place is very big. I love that they require everyone to wear their mask in the audience. There was artwork on display which was awesome. Everyone was nice who work there and very informative. We bought souvenirs of course. It is downtown and easy to get to. Had to pay for parking in parking garage. I'm spoiled, not use to that but it was not a problem. Oh yeah. The Lion King 🦁 was superb!!!

Market
Soda City Market is a vibrant weekend event in the Main Street District of Columbia. It features an array of trendy food trucks and local vendors offering handmade goods. Visitors can explore a variety of offerings, from fresh produce to regional foods and crafts. The market is open every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, providing an opportunity to indulge in delicious breakfast options at nearby eateries like Drip on Main.
After Kara Chamberlain Robinson posted about this place a few months ago, I saved it on my map to visit one day. Well I decided to take a trip to Columbia for the long weekend. I will say I'm glad I saved this on my map to visit, it was worth it. This market is much larger than I expected. The only issue was too many dogs. Someone allowed their dog to poop and NOT picked it up and everyone was stepping in it. This market would be better if they didn't allow dogs. I felt like I was at a dog market.

It was like waking street fair in NYC lots of vendors and live music. My food experience here was terrible guess I have to find the right vendor . Food was priced high had paella seafood in rice it was awful 😫. Salty fishy and costly. They had a car show and the art was just fantastic. There was a young guy there with Lakers painting and just beautiful prints . Did not catch his name but I will return . Parking was good. I would rate five if it weren't for the bad food experience. No Spanish food I would suggest. Stick to other food.
Amanda L — Google review
Soda City Market is always a lot of fun, and is one of my favorite things to do in Columbia! I love getting to know all of the different vendors, and checking out the really cool miscellaneous items that they're selling. Today, I learned that there's a shop in Five Points that sells vintage, 1980s-style clothing, as well as Jamaican, Brazilian, and Belgian-themed restaurants in the city. I never would've known that before going to Soda City. I also got a decent slice of pizza, as well as a solid cup of coffee. And... the dogs! If you're a dog lover, I'm not sure there's a better place on Earth to find some beautiful dogs than Soda City, they were precious! There's really only two (2) downsides to Soda City: the prices are very expensive relative to the quality you're getting. Now, you are supporting local businesses, so I don't mind paying a little bit more for it. However, nearly $20 for a good, but not great, slice of pizza and cup of coffee isn't particularly ideal. Also, there's always very obnoxious religious zealots who either scream into a megaphone, or spout race-based conspiracy theories on the street corner. I don't mind the people who have a booth and welcome you to talk to them, but the ones who scream into their microphones kinda ruin the vibe.
John D — Google review
I love Soda City! There are blocks and blocks of vendors selling so much cool stuff, bands playing, food trucks, a farmers market and vintage clothes! There is truly something for everyone. My favorite is DJ Voodoo child. He is a master at mashups. Anytime I am in Columbia on a Saturday, you will find me here!
Peggy C — Google review

Lucky to have been visiting when we went. Pride was ongoing and the number of vendors and support vendors were amazing. Lovely people and great food and products.
Ricky M — Google review
I visited the market today for the first time and was really impressed. It has a great vibe with street performers playing instruments right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. There are lots of food stands with tasty options from hearty meals to sweet treats. You can also find many other cool things like fresh flowers honey hot sauce and more. I recommend getting there early the later you go the busier it gets. The market is open every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm.

Arts & Draughts at the Columbia Museum of Art is hands-down one of the best ways to spend a Friday night in the city. The vibe was amazing—great crowd, cold beer, and incredible art. The silent disco was a blast, and the Sam Gilliam exhibit was a powerful experience. Beautiful atmosphere, creative energy everywhere, and something for everyone to enjoy. Whether you're an art lover or just looking for something different to do, this event delivers. I’ll definitely be back!

The main exhibit on the second floor was closed, and the first-floor section was only partially accessible due to filming. While admission is free for South Carolina residents, out-of-state visitors are charged a $15 entry fee. Paying full price to see barely a quarter of the museum felt like a pretty raw deal.

We really enjoyed the artwork from Printmaster, Sam Gilliam. Unfortunately, the upstairs exhibit was closed for renovation and will not be opened until January 2026. We also visited the Intersection on Main Street: African American Life in Columbia exhibit, which was extremely informative! I am so grateful to Faida for taking the time out to tell us about very interesting facts about the USC and surrounding areas. I highly recommend everyone going at least once.

Chef D — Google review
A solid art museum that regularly features interesting exhibits. I saw the Keith Haring exhibit here recently, as well as the Alexander McQueen exhibit a few years ago. Both were excellently done. Outside that are other art pieces well worth seeing. On our most recent trip this weekend, we didn't find out the second floor of the museum was closed until after we had already paid for our tickets. We essentially paid normal admission prices in order to view the Haring exhibit, a few separate art pieces, and an exhibit on African American life in Columbia that was already free to begin with. The museum is a non-profit, so at least the proceeds go towards its educational programs and art conservation. However, I can't help but be reminded of Keith Haring's belief that art should be accessible and affordable to all. I understand that the museum does not want to miss out on proceeds, but at the same time it feels unfair to be charging normal prices to view significantly fewer art pieces.

Market on Main was a really cool bar experience! I walked in about 30 minutes before they closed, and really only patronized the bar area. Having said that, it was still a great time. The inside bar area was nice and clean, and the bartender was very friendly as well. My favorite aspect of the restaurant was probably the outdoor bar, which allows you to enjoy the outdoors while having a drink. They also seemed to have a nice outdoor lawn setup, which looks like the perfect place to watch a major sporting event, or perhaps several sporting events at one time. All-in-all, Market on Main was really cool, and I'll assuredly be back to experience more of the restaurant in the future!

The food was really good here. I had the Baja Fish Tacos & My friend had the M.O.M Burger and we both had truffle fries. But what was even better than the food was the service. My friend and I sat at the bar and Ralph and the gang took care of EVERYONE effortlessly who sat at the bar. They all made sure everyone had water even without asking. They worked as a team and it was awesome to watch. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

Stopped at MOM for lunch during our first day in Columbia. The outdoor seating caught our eye and we wanted to dine in the shade. Excellent, quick service from hostess to waitress. I ordered the single MOM burger with pimento cheese and truffle fries and took my time devouring the burger. I loved the Russian dressing on the burger as it reminded me of a gourmet Big Mac and the pimento cheese added a nice pepper touch. The chef cut the potatoes fries so thin that every fry absorbed the truffle and Parmesan. No ketchup necessary.

New American restaurant
Fine dining restaurant
Located in the heart of downtown Columbia, Hampton Street Vineyard is an intimate restaurant offering a seasonal New American menu and an extensive wine list. Situated on the lower level of the Sylvan Building, it exudes a charming cellar-style atmosphere reminiscent of New York eateries. The restaurant's wine list has received accolades from Wine Spectator Magazine and features over 650 selections that are updated weekly.
Brunch at Hampton Street Vineyard was an experience we won’t soon forget. From the moment we arrived—just 15 minutes after making our reservation—we were met with warmth, efficiency, and a level of hospitality that immediately set the restaurant apart. The maître d' greeted us with a genuine smile, already aware of our airborne seafood allergy, and had thoughtfully arranged for us to be seated outside to ensure our comfort. Her attention to detail didn’t stop there—she also took the time to introduce us to our server and provide a thoughtful preview of what we could expect from our meal. Then came Anne, our server, who transformed what could have been a simple brunch into something extraordinary. She was the perfect combination of personable and professional, balancing attentiveness with a charismatic energy that made us feel like more than just guests—like we were truly being cared for. She guided us through the menu with insightful recommendations, and every suggestion she made was spot-on. The eggs were a revelation, with layers of flavor that unfolded with each bite, and when the maître d' returned to check in, we seized the opportunity to learn more about the spice blends and techniques that made our steaks so unforgettable. It was clear that every element of the meal had been carefully curated, and the result was nothing short of remarkable. Just when we thought the experience couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived—and we were proven gloriously wrong. Every dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation, but the brown butter tart with Chantilly cream was an undeniable standout. Rich, decadent, and perfectly balanced, it was the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. Paired with their refreshing cranberry mimosas, it was the perfect indulgence, and we happily savored every moment. Beyond the exceptional food, what truly set Hampton Street Vineyard apart was the atmosphere—an inviting blend of elegance and Southern charm that made it impossible to rush through the meal. The hospitality extended by Kat, Gage, and Anne made us feel as if we were longtime regulars rather than first-time visitors, and by the time we finally tore ourselves away from the table, one thing was certain: we would be back. With food this extraordinary, service this impeccable, and an ambiance that makes you want to linger just a little longer, there’s no question—we’re already counting down the days until our next visit.

We had a wonderful experience! The service was excellent, food was so good! We had the steak and it was cooked perfectly and flavorful! We went for my birthday and didn’t stay for dessert but they boxed one up and even taped a candle on the top! So cute! We’d definitely go back.

First time trying this place, and it was absolutely AMAZING! We visited for Restaurant Week, and the menu was beautifully crafted. Mrs. Ann provided exceptional, professional service, and the atmosphere felt intimate and inviting—even with how busy it was. We’ll definitely be back and can’t wait to share this spot with more friends!

A small upscale dining experience. The food was complex, with layers of flavor, the menu is simple, the drink menu is extensive, and the strawberry shortcake was a dessert to die for.

My sister and I went to a very late dinner here on a Wednesday night. We had tried another restaurant before coming to Hampton Street Vineyard, but it was crowded, loud, and unfriendly. We decided to try the Vineyard and arrived approximately 40 minutes before closing. The restaurant was cozy and the staff was welcoming. Damien, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable about each of the dishes, and patient with us while we decided what we wanted to order. He made a few recommendations when we asked, and we ordered two of the entrees he recommended. The food was sublime! It was unique, fresh and expertly prepared and we left nothing on our plates. Despite being full after our phenomenal dinner, we had to share one of their desserts. It did not disappoint! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Jen P — Google review
The server was trying his best despite how busy it was being restaurant week. However, the short-rib was incredibly underwhelming. Brussels and carrots were hard, salty but besides that little flavor. We had a 6:15 reservation and entrees didn’t hit the table until 8:00. Waiting over an hour and a half for this just doesn’t seem worth it. In my opinion, there are much better options in Columbia. Perhaps the event week was the reason for the quality but despite that, I’m certainly disappointed with the preparation. However, our server did the best he could considering the circumstances so I can’t put any fault on him.

Came here for a coworkers birthday dinner and it happened tp be restaurant Week. Reservations are highly recommended and parking may be hard to find somewhere give yourself plenty of time. Service was excellent, server was well vwrsed on the menu and had wonderful wine suggestions. It was a very busy night because of restaurant Week, but the food cane out in a reasonable amount of time amd was cooked as ordered. The 3 course meal was well worth the price and I will be coming back.

smallSUGAR is a charming spot in Columbia, SC that offers a delightful selection of breakfast and brunch items. Whether you're craving a Mocha Latte, Charleston Fog, or a warm croissant, this place has got you covered. It's also recommended to visit the Visitors Center for insider tips and explore the city's vibrant public art scene.
The overnight oats are amazing!! I could literally eat them for every meal. 10/10 highly recommend. The chai latte is always so good. The atmosphere is so relaxing. It’s just all around a good vibe. Such a great start to the day.

Come here a lot for brunch. Always good, every-time. This is where I bring friends, and family visiting from out of town. Pastries are really good, they are made fresh daily, and when they sell out, they sell out. Also fun to come in, and see what new pastries they have that day. You don’t tip, so prices reflect that. Which I like. I always park on Lady st, and walk up the short “alleyway” to them.

We visit often! They locally source most ingredients, pay living wages AND have amazing food. I recommend them often. There are healthy choices in addition to pastries and unique lunch and breakfast items.

Had breakfast here the other morning and really enjoyed it! The outdoor patio is lovely and the servers are very nice and helpful. My only thing is that my salads (I took one to go as well) were both a little bit over dressed. That much dressing is really not necessary! Maybe they could put it on the side so that diners could choose how much they want to put on? The flavours were delicious though and very well crafted and I really enjoyed my London fog as well. Definitely recommend!
Shayanne B — Google review
Nice outdoor space for breakfast/brunch. Soft egg tartine was excellent, a bit too much dressing on the side salad, but overall a good experience.

All around…absolutely amazing for a Sunday brunch choice. My first visit and when I asked Greg(the host) what he would recommend…his recommendation exceeded my expectations🤤—Almond Croissant, sweet potato bowl (with kale, candied sunflower seeds, pickled red onion, ginger vinaigrette), lamb pita with a side marinade cucumbers, Afro Pop Soda( butterscotch and a blueberry lemonade). Greg explained that Afro Pop was a black owned business. The cans had different art on them💕. My Aunt and I were pleasantly pleased and satiated 😋😋. Will undoubtedly be returning. Thanks Greg!!!

The fact that this place doesn’t currently have five stars is a true testament to the cruelness of humanity. Can’t wait to come back and bring everyone I know. There’s something for everyone here, as a health nut who also loves pastries, what more can you ask for? Loved sharing brunch plates with a friend over London fogs (and yes they go the extra mile with lemon zest on top). Also, talk about service with a smile. The staff is sweet as sugar. Thank you guys so much for the space, Columbia needs more places like this.

Nestled in the heart of Columbia, Colas Restaurant is a charming upscale tavern that beautifully marries history and culinary excellence. Housed in a meticulously restored 1930s RC Cola bottling plant, this eatery boasts stunning exposed brick walls and large windows that evoke an artistic ambiance reminiscent of Edward Hopper's work. The menu at Colas features an eclectic array of American fare, with a strong focus on fresh seafood, succulent steaks, and dishes inspired by diverse global cuisines.
Dined here for our anniversary dinner on Friday night. Our server for the evening was Greg and he was exceptional! He shared his favorites on the menu as well as the specials of the day. We started with appetizers and had the pear salad and also the shrimp and grit cake. Both were plentiful and beautifully presented. For our entrees we chose the Mahi & shrimp from the menu and the halibut & shrimp from the specials of the day. Both dishes were perfectly cooked, especially the shrimp, and the portions were also plentiful. We really appreciated that Greg was extremely accommodating when we asked for some slight changes in a few of our menu choices. He was attentive during the meal and really made our anniversary dining experience special. Thank you, Greg and Cola, for a great evening!

Wanted to love it… but didn’t. We were in town for orientation and decided to give this place a shot after reading some strong reviews. Unfortunately, I won’t be echoing the same praise. Let’s start with the positive: the atmosphere was great — relaxed, stylish, and a really chill vibe. Five stars there, no question. The staff was very friendly and polite, which we appreciated, but the service overall was slow — especially considering it wasn’t busy for a Tuesday early evening. The food? Mixed feelings. Believe it or not, the free bread was the highlight — genuinely delicious. Unfortunately, the rest didn’t measure up. The calamari appetizer was a letdown. The flavor was just okay, but it was mostly fried batter with very little calamari. I wouldn’t order it again. I had the burger, which was actually pretty good. Not amazing, but enjoyable. My guest had the fried pork chop, which they described as “fine,” but it was massive — like, feed-an-army massive. Definitely not for the light eater. As for the wine list — especially the reds — it was underwhelming. Even the mid-range choices felt more like budget selections you’d find at a grocery store, not a restaurant. Bottom line: with so many great places to eat in town, we won’t be returning. Do yourself a favor and keep scrolling to the next spot on your list.

Cola’s remains my family’s favorite dining spot at downtown Columbia! And the food tonight was amazing as always, and I am super glad I chose them for my last dinner in SC. The shrimp & risotto cake appetizer was so creamy and the Brie & raspberry fondue was fantastic as well! For entrees, we got the shrimp and grits and braised beef, both were absolutely delicious; even as someone who doesn’t like seafood, the trout was pretty good and the presentation was on point. As for dessert, I highly recommend the truffle cheesecake and crème brûlée, their chocolate dessert was also pretty awesome. One thing to watch out is to make sure that you mark “prefer a booth” on your reservation, as when we requested one upon arrival they didn’t have any available (a bit strange because they were only 30% occupied at 6pm), so if you would like one, request it early! Service was pretty good as well and our server was very professional. We will be back!
Serena A — Google review
Cola has such a welcoming, elevated vibe the kind of spot that feels both cozy and refined. My partner and I ordered the Cowboy Ribeye and the Braised Beef, and both dishes were incredible. The ribeye was rich and buttery, perfectly seasoned with herbs, and paired with silky mashed potatoes and crisp asparagus. I went with the braised beef tender, slightly sweet, and served with creamy grits and roasted sweet potatoes that balanced the flavors beautifully. The service was warm and attentive, and the presentation made everything feel special. My only small note: the cocktails were a bit too sweet for our taste. Otherwise, an absolutely lovely dining experience that we’ll definitely return for!
Aida S — Google review
This American restaurant is located slightly off the main route and could be overlooked if you’re wandering around downtown looking for a place to eat. Good: portions are well sized. One of the few places I’ve been where I felt full when I was done. For $40 I actually felt like I got am ample portion. Some dishes were well flavored - braised beef, slightly over seasoned — spice rubbed chicken, and perhaps lacking in flavor—pork chop. The collards were slightly sweet and seasoned w onion and bacon. Mac and cheese was creamy and a true comfort food feel. Hamburger was filling and cooked to order. Would not order the calamari— all breading. The dipping sauces were good but I couldn’t find any actual squid. Drinks—ordered mixed drinks which were not well balanced and then switched to beer. Although reasonably priced, the vanilla bourbon old fashion was not something I enjoyed. Service was superb. The restaurant was relatively busy but the food came out quickly and hot. Katie G was attentive, friendly, gave good recommendations. Atmosphere—cute, open, able to carry on a conversation, clean, not stuffy, not high end dining but comfortable for a date or family eating. All in all—good experience. Menu has something to please every taste. Would not necessarily return on my own but wouldn’t turn down a dinner here if invited.
Andrea A — Google review
Food, on the whole, was decent -- though not as spectacular as we expected based on the reviews. That said, the mac and cheese was excellent, likewise for the Lemon Blueberry Marscapone Cake. The entrees we had -- BBQ Salmon, Pasta Primavera, Spice Rubbed Chicken, and the burger -- all lacked seasoning. The service was very good, and the atmosphere was great.

Excellent, whenever we're in Columbia we go there and I always order their signature flash fried fresh flounder in an apricot cilantro chile jam. It is heaven I'm like the cat in a cartoon, I sucked the bones! Hubby had his usual chicken parm and our granddaughter the Mahi entré. Oysters Rockefeller for an appetizer, no room for dessert.

Specialty Museums
Nestled in a former textile mill, the South Carolina State Museum stands as a beacon of knowledge and creativity, showcasing an impressive collection of 70,000 artifacts across four expansive floors. This interactive museum invites visitors to explore the rich tapestry of South Carolina's art, history, nature, and science from prehistoric times to modern-day. Families will find it particularly engaging with its planetarium featuring rotating shows and an observatory equipped with cutting-edge telescopes.
I thought this was a great museum and a great price point. It was only $13 for adults, $33 if you did the extra Disney exhibit. The exhibits were interesting and ranged from early history to war-time era. I really enjoyed the visiting Disney exhibit. It was really neat to see all the costumes from different films.

There are 4 floors with so much to look at. We started on the 4th floor and worked our way down. 3 hours and I don't think we were able to see everything. I have a mobility cart and it was so easy to move around and see the displays. Reasonably priced admission and well worth it.
Jeannie C — Google review
Had a great time here! Went on the first Sunday so admission was just 1 dollar. Even though there was a good sized crowd, it wasn’t so large that I wasn’t able to see everything I wanted to. Great place for a family outing or just something to do to pass the time. Would definitely go back again for some of the other paid exhibits.
Larinda R — Google review
Disney’s Heroes and Villains costume exhibit was well worth a visit. It featured a captivating collection of iconic outfits worn by renowned actors and actresses in beloved films. Seeing the costumes up close was magical. The museum's broader exhibit was extensive, covering a wide range of subjects and historical periods. The displays were engaging, with some interactive elements that added to the experience.

Had a good time here at The South Carolina State Museum! Went on the first Sunday so admission was only a 1 dollar. Lots of exhibits to wander through and a nice gift shop!
Sarah S — Google review
Overall an enjoyable experience, but extreme cold from too much air conditioning and poor working order for many exhibits affects recommendation for visiting the museum. I estimate that 25% of the exhibits are at some state of disrepair. In addition, the planetarium show I went to, while very informative, was more of an academic lecture than an entertaining show. Regarding the 4D Coastal Predators show, the production value was descent, but it was only 10 minutes long. Lastly, the attached photo provides a perfect example of improvement opportunities throughout the museum.
Paul S — Google review
My adult daughter and I had the best time at the museum and loved the heroes and villains expo! We're planning another trip back before it ends!
Kim B — Google review
I had assumed there would be the expected exhibits: We farmed rice and indigo... We defeated the British when they tried to take over Charleston the first time... oops on the second time ...Slavery was a stain on our history... General Sherman tore us up... And, oh, here comes a railroad. What I was *not* expecting was the collection of early telescopes covering several hundred years and the observatory on the fourth floor. Seriously, it's a museum and you need to go to it.

Absolutely thrilled with the recent renovation! I grew up in Cola and remember coming to this park as a kid and I’m so excited my own kids will be able to spend lots of time here now. We’ve been twice in the few days since it opened and it felt very safe, lots of friendly park rangers and law enforcement officers. The playground is one of the best we’ve been to, the sliding hill is a huge hit, and the little streams were so nice to picnic by and splash in. It’s also nice that it’s so close to the main library so we can do both in one trip. I have a feeling we’ll be spending a lot of time here in the coming years!

Took my 5 year old on Thursday and we had a blast! We hadn’t been in almost two years so it was exciting seeing all the new things they added as well as the classics ! The news room was honestly her favorite, she loved pretending to tell her news report, the animal clinic was amazing as well! I absolutely would recommend this place as somewhere different to take your kid/kiddos it’s educational and fun at the same time! We will be back again soon!🥰

First time going (we are out-of-towners) and I took my 10 year old son, we had a blast!! Very educational all around and tons to do, even lots for toddlers! It was a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. 😊

Took our 3 kids ages 6-11 here for the first time over our Spring break, and they all absolutely loved it. My oldest may have been a little old for some of it, but still had a fantastic time exploring and playing with his little brothers. The museum is huge, the different setups were adorable, and overall we had a super fun day! We would love to return.

Great place for kids from 1 to about 12. My 3 and 5 year old were entertained in each area longer than I expected. Great variety of exhibits combining learning and fun.
Kate C — Google review
It was a wonderful learning experience for children. The place is clean and sanitizers are available after kids play with the toys or equipment. There are areas to explore and learn for all ages. I love the realistic things used and how much information is provided for various aspects of our every day living. There was a little cooking class activity that did a 5 minute meal prep (tomato and cheese on a toothpick to look like a caterpillar). Outside has a water irrigation set up. And various rocks for kids to play with. All the various activities took us about three hours to explore and interact with and even though there were different field trips the place didn’t feel overcrowded. Was a fun trip. I took my 1yr, 3yr, 4yr and 10 yr old.

We love EdVenture! It is the perfect place for younger kids to explore and learn. No rush though the venue just let me learn and play at their pace. This location touches on so many different areas of interest- planes, fire trucks, food service, veterinary, dental and medical… wonderful!!

Such an amazing place for kids. It's free for kids under 2 and affordable nonetheless (way cheaper than the other children's museums we've been to, and better too!). There's a giant indoor playground inside Eddie, a Cessna, a jumbo jet cockpit, a firetruck, ambulance, news room, a play Publix with miniature shopping carts and pretend food, a barn, tractor, play medical center, arts and crafts area, physics area with wind tunnels... And so much more! We spent over three hours here and honestly, our 23-month-old boys could have played all day.
Mike H — Google review
Educational place that is great for children. We got there as soon as it opened so we missed the live demonstrations but the place was busy and exciting. By the time we left, the line was out the door and there was a wait. Life lessons on flying, farming, firefighting, hospitals, and you have the tallest kid in the world (40 feet tall!!). I recommend taking your kids here and expecting about 2 to 3 hours of entertainment.

Williams-Brice Stadium is a historic football stadium located next to the South Carolina State Fairgrounds. It has been the home turf for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks since 1934 and can seat over 50,000 fans, with capacity reaching up to 80,000 on game days. The stadium is known for its electrifying atmosphere during games and has also hosted legendary rock and pop concerts.
This was a great tour! David our tour guide was awesome! He was so inviting and friendly and had a wonderful knowledge base of the football stadium and its traditions. The tour is free and lasts about 45-1hr. You get to see plenty of stuff (I’m not giving away all the secrets) but you won’t be disappointed. Make sure you sign up and get your free tickets in advance. That way you have them. The parking lot is easy to get in and out of. Make sure to add this to the list!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Williams-Brice Stadium: A Disco Circus of College Football Fun! My trip to Williams-Brice Stadium, home of the South Carolina Gamecocks, was absolutely unforgettable! For anyone with a short attention span—this place is ADHD heaven. There’s always something happening—music pumping, lights flashing, fireworks bursting, and the crowd bringing wild, contagious energy from start to finish. It’s like stepping into a disco circus where, oh yeah, a football game just happens to break out in the middle of it all! The atmosphere is electric, the fans are passionate, and the whole experience is pure entertainment. I’ll definitely be back—it’s one of those stadiums that makes you feel alive just being there. Still, I’ll give Neyland Stadium the top spot in my heart…but Williams-Brice is a very close second! 🏈🔥💃

This is, by far, thr best college football venue in the US. There is just something about Sandstorm that gives you chills and makes tou want to root for the Gamecocks, even if youre not a fan. It is exciting, electric, overwhelming, yet welcoming. And if you get the cha ce to experience the light show, you'll be mesmerized. Dont miss a chance for a concert and especially an SEC game here!

Great stadium setup, operation and services. However, the excessive artificial noise continuously pumped out of the the PA system at an absurd volume is an embarrassingly mindless attempt to stoke a crowd from before kickoff until the clock hits zero. Would go again but so glad I brought earplugs given all the warnings I initially heard before going.

Wine bar
Lula Drake Wine Parlour, located on Main Street, has a rich history dating back to the 1920s when it was a hat shop owned by Ms. Lula Drake herself. Today, it's an elegant wine bar offering more than just your typical wine pours. The menu is small but diverse and perfectly complements the selection of wines available each night. The chef specializes in crafting unique handmade pasta dishes such as chitarra cut pasta strands and purple potato gnocchi.
Lula Drake wine parlour is the best bar you’ll find in South Carolina. As soon as you walk in the staff welcomes you with open arms. Shoutout Jess the bartender, very assertive and accommodating. The dark chocolate terrine cake is out of this world. The bar is beautiful and the ambiance inside is original and pristine. Really a great vibe for the city of Columbia.

Incredible experience at Lula Drake! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The food and the wine was unreal. Everything was paired so perfectly. I tried the Somm’s choice with dinner and it was amazing. So much care and attention to the details that really make Lula Drake special. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you for a wonderful night!
J — Google review
It’s no wonder that the Lula Drake was named the friendliest place in South Carolina by Southern Living Magazine last year. Throw on their other accolades like a James Beard award last year and you certainly have a recipe for success. Thank God, I was with a table of people that love to share with one another so that we could order practically one of everything. The wine and cocktails were obviously exceptional, but the stars of the show for me was the Korean fried chicken ‘KFC’ and the Cacio E Pepe. The chicken was incredibly crunchy on the outside while also so juicy on the inside with a sticky sauce that was packed with flavor and wasn’t overly spicy. However, their take on a traditional, humble pasta dish was over the top. The gnocchi like pillows were decadent and melted in your mouth. What I loved most was that since they are in a subtle sauce with fresh cracked pepper it allows them to be the star of the dish without being overpowered by a bold sauce. The ambience of the restaurant was elevated without being pretentious and while it was a fairly tight space, the staff was very accommodating, and our server was phenomenal. There are a number of great spots for a cocktail or dessert on this stretch in Columbia, so come hungry.

Loved everything. Service was great (thanks Bailey), and the food? The cacio e Pepe gnocchi with ham is by far the best dish I’ve ever had. Ever. It’s a must!

Wonderful little spot in the city! The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, perfect for a relaxing evening. The Sidecar was absolutely astounding — a fantastic blend of gin and sweet that hit all the right notes. The real treat, though, was the Lula’s Lieutenant — two perfectly cooked chicken legs with rich Indian spices. Absolutely incredible and bursting with flavor. Easily one of the most unique and delicious dishes I’ve had in a while.

Shout out to Jessica for going above and beyond tonight. I called and chatted with her about my partner going in there tonight by herself and asked if I could pay her bill as a surprise. She was excited to help and beyond that, she gave my partner an amazing experience with superior customer service. The food was a 10/10 (and my partner is quite the food critic). Everything was fantastic. Thank you x a million! Hope I get to visit someday!

Terrific experience. Not “dinner and drinks”, but an experience. The wine program, the food, the service, the atmosphere, all come together to create a warm memory. We lucked out and got the best seat in the house at the front window. Our server, Erin Lee, greeted us warmly. I had read about their wine program and was very excited to try wines by the glass I would not normally have access to by the glass. I’m not a wine expert but I can capably describe what I like. Erin Lee listened very attentively and brought me wines that were perfectly suited to my tastes. Most restaurants are a food menu with a wine program wrapped around it. I would argue the strength of this establishment is the reverse; figure out what wine you really want and then order food around that. Not to suggest their menu is second tier – far from it. Everything we ordered was great and Erin Lee had great suggestions. If you’re not into wine or alcohol you will still absolutely enjoy. Or, if you’re like me, go with both white and red and order all around LOL. Service was very good. Staff promptly removes unwanted items from the table without fuss or hovering. Bonus points for lack of pretentiousness. Can’t wait to go back.

Such a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. Lula Drakes is perfect for a date, small gathering of friends, or even a solo night with a book such as I myself had. The food and wine were divine ~ I especially loved the cacio e pepe, so creamy and pillowy. I'm not usually a huge wine drinker, but Lula Drakes menu made paring wine and food so easy, as did my wonderful server, Bailey. Everyone was so welcoming from the moment I stepped in the door, but Bailey shined brightest of all. I can't wait to come back and try more of the delicious wine and dishes. If you visit, take time to read the wine descriptions. They made me smile and were quite spot on. :) Thank you, everyone, at Lula Drakes!

Bistro
Motor Supply Company Bistro is an upscale American restaurant located in the revamped Vista district. With a daily changing menu, it offers a casually upscale dining experience. The restaurant's outdoor sculpture garden adds to its charm, making it a great spot for a romantic date or hanging out with friends.
Greeted by the sweet gentleman who valet parked our car. Walked into a fantastic old building with so much charm. High ceilings and exposed brick. I believe it was a machine shop with a hotel next store at one time. Had a charming table in the middle of the restaurant with cozy vibes. Our server Devin was kind and personable with a great overall knowledge of the menu. We shared fresh burrata with melon and a pickle cheese board. Outstanding with so much flavor. Being a vegetarian I had a pasta dish with cream and fresh vegetables which included zucchini, squash and tomatoes. My guests each had shrimp and grits. The grits are farmed from NC and the shrimp was the perfect size and full of flavor. Yes a spoon was also provided to lap it all up. The cocktails were delicious as well as a lovely bottle of red wine - Sangiovese- from Italy. Crème brûlée in a generous-sized ramekin was our dessert choice which was outstanding. Truly a special dining experience celebrating my son’s birthday. We will be back. A little gem in a sweet little city. Thank you!

Great food, drinks, and ambiance. Cocktails were on par with the best that I've had anywhere else. Doug was on point with the service. Food was cooked and prepared perfectly. Can't say enough good things about this place.

The pork chop was easily the best part of the meal. Service was attentive and truly great. The wreckfish was average, and the brownie sundae was a miss (hard, crispy brownies). Be warned about the final bill. It includes a surprising number of itemized taxes/fees below the subtotal (these are typical), plus a separate 3% credit card surcharge. Suggest the restaurant incorporates these costs into the menu prices for a cleaner customer experience. (they position it as a "saving" if you pay cash which less than 20% of people do these days).

Came here for a quick lunch with family and although they were happy with the food, I was not as fortunate. My wife loved her meatloaf and the risotto. My daughter also loved her grilled cheese and soup. I am a self proclaimed burger connoisseur, so after I read a sign stating they have the “best burger in South Carolina” I was eager to try. The presentation of the burger was very good and I was off to a great start until I took a bite. The first thing I heard was my wife saying ewww as she watched blood squirt out of the burger. At that point I was done. I told the server and he asked if I wanted them to cook this burger up some more? Not would you like a new one, but would you like this one cooked longer. It really wouldn’t have mattered, because after I send something back I don’t trust you and don’t want anything else. On the other hand, he could’ve heard my concerns taken the food back and prior to us leaving brought out another one to go just for the inconvenience. That’s what good customer service looks like. Unfortunately, not only did I have to deal with a bloody burger but I had to deal with bad customer service as well.

Loved the atmosphere here, and Marley made the experience even better with her amazing service! The food was good, just wish it had a little more seasoning, but the crème brûlée and desserts were absolutely delicious.

Absolutely a great choice! My wife and I are traveling through from South Florida. Great food and service. I had the Rib Eye that was cooked to perfection!

Lunch menu. Had the meatball sub. The flavor was off, but not bad. It had too much of something. A few others in my group said their food was just okay as well.

Blue Marlin is a renowned seafood restaurant located in the heart of Columbia, offering classic Southern dishes made with locally sourced and sustainable fish. Housed in a former train station, the restaurant boasts contemporary environs and a well-stocked bar serving an array of libations. Their Sunday brunch menu features a delightful fusion of Lowcountry crab cakes with Eggs Benedict and Hollandaise sauce, alongside grits and asparagus.
The Blue Marlin in Columbia, SC is an absolute gem. The crab cake entrée was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor, one of the best I’ve ever had. The Southern Candied Pecan Salad was just as impressive, fresh and balanced with just the right touch of sweetness. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious Southern-inspired seafood and a welcoming dining experience.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but everything was just average. The ambiance was nice, but nothing stood out. The food was okay—not bad, but not memorable either. Service was fine, but lacked warmth or enthusiasm. It’s not a bad spot, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations.

The complimentary bread with butter was delicious, but the shrimp and grits was bomb. The crab cakes with rice and collard greens was delicious too. The inside had a historic and cozy feeling to it. Overall, I would return to this place whenever I'm in Columbia again.

The she crab soup here is fantastic!! The restaurant is located in a really nice area, the atmosphere is calm and great to talk. The dessert is perfect to share. My family truly enjoy it!

We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary with dinner at the Blue Marlin. The staff and waitress were super sweet and courteous and took very good care of us. We ordered dessert and they took the charges charges for that off our bill because of our special anniversary. We did have a great time. However, the food itself was a little disappointing. Our crab cake appetizer was barely warm at all. My shrimp and grits was extremely salty (dangerous for heart patients! Caused me palpitations throughout the night!) Also, for me, there should have been a few peppers, onions - some kind of veggies in there, or a side vegetable served with it. No veggies at all in my dinner. On the plus side my husband's steak was cooked perfectly, and the Key Lime Pie was great!

We stopped in here for dinner before attending a concert and couldn't be happier with our choice! The atmosphere was so welcoming when we entered and we were so well taken care of. For drinks, I had a strawberry pineapple mule that was so refreshing and my hubby had a hard cider. A basket of warm bread & butter was brought out and was the perfect balance of crisp exterior and tender interior. For the entrées, I had fried Gulf oysters with fries and slaw. The oysters were cooked perfectly and were tender & succulent when I bit into them (left my hubby try one🦪😁). My hubby had the special of bacon wrapped filet with crab cake & green beans. The filet melted in your mouth and barely needed a knife and the crab cake was low on fillers but high on crab🦀! A fab surprise was the bowl of house made greens that our waiter brought us on the house. No kidding these were the BEST greens that were so tender with big flavor complemented by the all-day cook, hamhocks, and zip from the vinegar. For dessert, we shared a slice of the BEST, most vibrant key lime pie🤤🤤🤤

Everything taste delicious (scallops, steak, crabcakes, seasonal veggies, etc.)! The cheesecake was the star of the night - AMAZAING! The mermaid cocktail, was great - swap rum for tequila for a stronger option 😉.

Thank you Alexis M for Wonderful customer service!!! The only things I would change: is the lighting at certain times~ if it's still daylight there should be a little more lighting on the inside, I seen one customer using cell phone light to view menu; I tried getting Watermelon mocktail ordered spicy cause I seen another drink on menu mentioning with jalapeños for spicy, well what I received looked good but it taste like pickle juice with watermelon instead of spicy watermelon...Lexi tried for bartender to correct and wasn't informed until after 2nd fail attempt that for spicy comes with alcohol and only have pickled jalapeños to make non-alcoholic attempt for spicy fruity beverage; the other thing I like my crust to stay on my fish when fried- I had the Blue Marlin seafood platter and my flounder was flaking everywhere so some bites was just crust; Lastly a bit disappointed at the mash potatoes tasting instant, no flavor. Otherwise, enjoyed the crab cake, shrimp, mix vegetable medley, and the creme brulee cheesecake 😋 👌🏾 😀

Renowned for serving some of the finest fried chicken in town, this establishment guarantees a flawless dining experience. Indulge in their delectable Fried Chic Filet Sandwich or Club options at unbeatable prices. Customers highly recommend accompanying your meal with their delightful sweet tea. I ordered the two piece breast meal. My food came out quickly even though it was right in the middle of dinner rush. The chicken was fantastic! Crispy delicious skin and tender and juicy on the inside. Crispy french fries and coleslaw came as my sides. Both of those were great too! I look forward to visiting again 😀

I couldn't leave Columbia without stopping here. I love fried chicken and Bernie's does not disappoint! The staff and ordering are super efficient. If you love fried chicken this is the place. Ask for the banana pudding though, I didn't see it on the overhead menu. Prices are great. Three piece special with a drink, slaw and fries under $10 dollars. You can't beat that nowadays!

The chicken and potato salad are so good. Fried chicken was light with a great crisp. I don't think it can be made any better. Food came out fast and it is a shabby place but who cares, when the food is that good! There is a $11 lunch with 3 pieces of chicken, fries, roll, coleslaw and a super good sweet tea.

Wow! Such an awesome local gem!! The chicken is as advertised - juicy and crispy!! The portions are perfect! We got the 4 piece dinner. The old school vibe and friendly service is a great reason to eat in, but many were taking big meals to-go. Definitely recommend the lemonade.

The food was hot and tasty. However, I prefer Zestos chicken. The customer service was great, and the service was quick during lunch hours.

Got the special, 3pc chicken with fries, roll and slaw. The chicken was very juicy (not greasy) and very flavorful, crinkle cut fries were good and crispy as well! Definitely lived up to the hype.
