Cajun restaurant
Cocktail bar
Bourbon is a historic whiskey bar and Cajun-Creole eatery located in the Brennen Building in Columbia. The ambiance exudes an upscale saloon feel with exposed brick walls, repurposed wood, and gaslight-inspired chandeliers. It boasts South Carolina's most extensive whiskey collection, including Kentucky bourbons, Irish whiskeys, and Japanese scotches. The restaurant offers a curated selection of bourbons and a menu centered on Cajun and Creole cuisine.
Great Bourbon/Whiskey Bar in the city with a very diverse menu. The food was upscale New Orleans/Southern inspired. The team in the kitchen are at the top of their game. Bar staff backs it up with super dope cocktails. A must try when you’re in the city.
Raymond C — Google review
Great restaurant and bar! Got dinner at the restaurant section and then went to the lounge for drinks. Gumbo was the best I've had outside of New Orleans, and my friends really enjoyed their burgers as well. Server was very kind and the hickory made the inside smell wonderful.
Tyler W — Google review
We enjoyed the ambiance, service, and food. However, the shrimp and grits were extremely spicy. Overall the drinks were stellar. We enjoyed sitting outside at the tables after our meal. I would recommend this restaurant.
N. L — Google review
Wonderful drinks, food was absolutely delicious. I had the pimento cheese appetizer and shrimp and grits my friend had the special. Amazing all Around. The decor was aligned with the bourbon name and was dark and earthy.

Bourbon in Columbia is an absolute gem. From the moment you step inside, the atmosphere sets the tone as it’s warm, stylish, and full of Southern charm with a modern edge. The bourbon selection is one of the best I’ve seen, with everything from local favorites to rare pours, making it a true paradise for whiskey lovers. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted, blending rich flavors with a Southern flair. The inclusivity on the menu for vegetarian and gluten-free options, ensures everyone at the table can enjoy a great meal without feeling limited. The steak frites are a standout, and the small plates like beignets are perfect for sharing alongside a cocktail. I ordered blue skies, yaya hurricane and heart of Darkness. The service is professional yet welcoming, striking that balance of upscale dining with a relaxed, inviting vibe. Whether you’re stopping in for a drink at the bar, a date night, or dinner with friends, Bourbon delivers a five-star experience every time. It’s easily one of the best spots in Columbia.
Noel F — Google review
Here’s a NED-style review for Bourbon: --- ✅ What Works Well - Southern-inspired cuisine with elevated comfort food—think shrimp & grits, fried chicken, and rich sides. - Strong bourbon selection with expertly crafted cocktails. - Stylish yet cozy atmosphere, great for date nights or gatherings. - Attentive service with knowledgeable staff, especially around the drink menu. - Brunch and dinner menus both stand out. --- 👎 What to Watch Out For - Prices are on the higher side, especially for drinks. - Can get loud during peak hours. - Limited vegetarian options. - Wait times without a reservation can be long. --- 🎯 Verdict Bourbon blends soulful Southern cooking with a refined vibe and deep whiskey menu—perfect for those who enjoy bold flavors and a great cocktail. Rating: 4.4 / 5 --- Want food pairing tips with bourbon?

I have to say, coming from California the drink selection was amazing, however that only gives this establishment 2 stars and beyond those drinks, absolute complete total failure. I miss the interactions of compitent individuals that was unfortunately missing here in South Carolina. Sitting at the bar, my server came up to me once, beyond that I did not exist in her eyes. I needed to get the manager involved in order to get another drink. Why the hell was this person hired in the 1st place? Honestly, she never once made an attempt to ask me what my thoughts where on my 1st drink, nor acknowledge i was even present. That in itself is sickening. Do NOT recommend this establishment. Next door is a roof top bar that is extremely more welcoming and enjoyable. Please spend you money there. Absolutely poor service.

If you are looking to get a taste of Louisiana, I do not recommend eating any of the Cajun or creole inspired dishes. As someone who lived in Louisiana for college, the dishes do not live up to what they claim to be. Stick with the cheese board or pimiento cheese. That said I went there tonight for happy hour and was extremely disappointed by the fact that we found a roach on our table, killed it ourselves told the server and she seemed completely unbothered like it was a normal occurrence. Will not be back anytime soon, though I hate to say that because it is a really cool spot

Karaoke bar
Art Bar is a unique underground club in Columbia that has been a gathering spot for the city's quirkiest individuals since the 90s. The venue offers live music, an artsy atmosphere, and a full bar with a dance floor and lounge area. It hosts various events including local shows, video game tournaments, goth nights, and memorable Halloween celebrations.
Really cute, fun bar with robots everywhere! My husband and I commented that if we lived in Columbia, we would probably come here all the time. There was an $8 cover on a Saturday night- not sure if that’s normal for the weekends, or just because there was a show, but the bands that played were great! Bartenders were polite, beer was cold and served quickly. What more could you ask for?
Kristen B — Google review
Art Bar's a really fun bar, even if it's a little bit outside of my comfort zone! I loved going on karaoke night, it was so much fun watching everybody go all-out and having the crowd sing along. The ambiance was really unique as well, for the first time in Columba I felt like I was getting the real Discoteque experience. I loved how neon the lighting was, it really accentuated the aforementioned disco vibe. The one negative thing I have to say about it was that most (but not all) of the bartenders were very arrogant, and made it seem like an inconvenience to be asked to make a drink. Two of the bartenders didn't even speak when I asked for my drinks, and just made them in awkward silence, and still didn't say anything when I thanked them for it. Another one made a cocktail, and didn't even bother to mix it, which was kind of weird. I debated between giving Art Bar three (3) or four (4) stars based on the service, but I ultimately went with four (4). However, had the service been better, Art Bar would've definitely been a 5-star experience!
John D — Google review
The vibes were great, I was able to go by myself and feel fairly comfortable. Plenty of seating, different areas of the bar to go to. It’s bigger than it looks! Bartender was not the kindest or personable. It seemed like he hated being there. It’s hard to hear over other people and music, and I’ve never ordered at a bar before. He asked what my tab was, I wasn’t sure what to tell him and then he snapped at me for my name. When I went to close my tab, I thought he didn’t hear me so I repeated myself, saying I wanted to close my tab, and he snapped at me again for my name. Didn’t speak to me outside of “what’s your tab” and “name” Other bartenders seemed very friendly and personable. I’m going to give it another chance in a couple of weeks with a friend, hopefully it will be a better experience at the bar
Ash F — Google review
So first and foremost, if this review was ONLY for the food, it would be a five stars. I was pleasantly surprised in the best way it was so good. I was there today for Yalloween (which was awesome). I had a pimento burger (subbed veggie) with the fry basket. I did order a fried egg but the girl taking my order didn’t add it. She is the main reason I took stars (I give her a 2/5) as her demeanor was very rude and dismissive. She made me feel out of place. This is NOT how she treats everyone because she was quite nice and accommodating to the people in front of me who appeared to be regulars. Here’s a tip: if you want more regulars be nicer to the new people. I like the food and seating otherwise. (After I got my food, I found I needed a fork and she did get me one after a short wait.) She told me the total was $19.80 ($18 + $1.80) but it ended up being $20.49. I assumed perhaps there was an upcharge for using debit; however, she didn’t say, and it wasn’t posted. So my second assumption was she thought I wasn’t going to tip so gave herself one instead and thought I wouldn’t notice. I left a smaller tip than my norm due to her demeanor ($1.51) which I guess she can add to that $.69 she had to have. I attached the receipts for reference. If anyone wants to complain about the tip, keep in mind, she only took the order and payment, not make it, expo it, or serve it. Any tip would be generous in this case. I am a tipper most of the time having worked in the service industry before even to the not so great workers. Here’s another tip: assuming someone isn’t going to tip well and treating them poorly is going to fulfill your expectations. Treating them well may surprise you. The guy outside walking around in an art bar shirt passing out fries wasn’t a peach either when I inquired about where to get some; however, it was hectic, and I can understand that much better and doesn’t have a real bearing on this review other than making me wonder if this is the culture of the place. Would I return? Only if invited out with friends, but not likely on my own. ETA: So I read through the other reviews and wow...I am a person of color and seeing so many reviews regarding off treatment of POCs was interesting. I did not initially get that "ick" because the people in front of me that seemed to be regulars? It was an interracial couple and the girl was super cool and nice with the guy who was black. I did not initially think my race was a factor because of that, but I did not feel like I belonged all the same. A lot of my artist friends come here and I figured I would come with them if invited but now, I won't come back at all. Food and overall atmosphere aside, why can't everyone be welcome and not just the regulars?

Two words—PASTA. SALAD. Hands down THE best pasta salad I have ever had!! The chili is also delicious! We ate in the bar and then took chili and more pasta salad home. It’s THAT good. You’ll dream about this delicious goodness.

Love the eclectic vibe. Great place to get a drink any night of the week. Cool bands and contests/events often. Inclusive to all as well. Food is good too.
Kay M — Google review
This is probably my last time here. The bartenders they do have aren’t friendly. It looks like a great atmosphere that has lots of potential but as someone who’s looking for a bartending job, the ones here have no personality. The dude outside was semi friendly. Oh and parking??? My first time here I didn’t even know I had to pay to park because the sign is literally IN THE ROAD. And to top it off, it was pouring rain so by the time I got outside the ticket was soggy and non readable so I never paid it cause I didn’t even know who to contact. I tried this place again, was only inside maybe 30 minutes (to talk about a bartending job) and got hit with another parking ticket. They said this is the best bar in town but this place is absolutely garbage just because of the people they have working, and then the parking situation. This place is not all that to where I get an uber and stay the whole night here. Everyone seems pretty stuck up. And plus, in Columbia parking is free after 7pm except 5 points. This is the vista, not 5 points.
April J — Google review
I travel a lot and this has to be one of the cooler bars I've been to just on vibes alone. It's very uniquely decorated and they have a continuous run of metal bands throughout the entire night on weekends. I've never seen a bar quite like it.

Motor Supply Company Bistro is an upscale American restaurant located in the revamped Vista district. With a daily changing menu, it offers a casually upscale dining experience. The restaurant's outdoor sculpture garden adds to its charm, making it a great spot for a romantic date or hanging out with friends.
Greeted by the sweet gentleman who valet parked our car. Walked into a fantastic old building with so much charm. High ceilings and exposed brick. I believe it was a machine shop with a hotel next store at one time. Had a charming table in the middle of the restaurant with cozy vibes. Our server Devin was kind and personable with a great overall knowledge of the menu. We shared fresh burrata with melon and a pickle cheese board. Outstanding with so much flavor. Being a vegetarian I had a pasta dish with cream and fresh vegetables which included zucchini, squash and tomatoes. My guests each had shrimp and grits. The grits are farmed from NC and the shrimp was the perfect size and full of flavor. Yes a spoon was also provided to lap it all up. The cocktails were delicious as well as a lovely bottle of red wine - Sangiovese- from Italy. Crème brûlée in a generous-sized ramekin was our dessert choice which was outstanding. Truly a special dining experience celebrating my son’s birthday. We will be back. A little gem in a sweet little city. Thank you!
Christine L — Google review
Great food, drinks, and ambiance. Cocktails were on par with the best that I've had anywhere else. Doug was on point with the service. Food was cooked and prepared perfectly. Can't say enough good things about this place.
Nathan P — Google review
Came here for a quick lunch with family and although they were happy with the food, I was not as fortunate. My wife loved her meatloaf and the risotto. My daughter also loved her grilled cheese and soup. I am a self proclaimed burger connoisseur, so after I read a sign stating they have the “best burger in South Carolina” I was eager to try. The presentation of the burger was very good and I was off to a great start until I took a bite. The first thing I heard was my wife saying ewww as she watched blood squirt out of the burger. At that point I was done. I told the server and he asked if I wanted them to cook this burger up some more? Not would you like a new one, but would you like this one cooked longer. It really wouldn’t have mattered, because after I send something back I don’t trust you and don’t want anything else. On the other hand, he could’ve heard my concerns taken the food back and prior to us leaving brought out another one to go just for the inconvenience. That’s what good customer service looks like. Unfortunately, not only did I have to deal with a bloody burger but I had to deal with bad customer service as well.
Damien M — Google review
Loved the atmosphere here, and Marley made the experience even better with her amazing service! The food was good, just wish it had a little more seasoning, but the crème brûlée and desserts were absolutely delicious.

Wonderful farm to table dining. Always fresh and delicious! The menu changes often so you never know what is being offered! Truly the best in town!!

Service. Food and drinks were amazing. The appetizers hit the spot and the Ribeye took almost the whole plate. Would recommend. We went on a weekday so was not very crowded or busy.

We went here by just walking around and stumbled on it. Omg I'm so glad we went here. The food was amazing. If you are in the area, I would definitely check this place out.

Cocktail bar
Coa Agaveria y Cocina is a warm and contemporary Mexican restaurant located on Lady Street. It offers a comforting Jalisco-inspired menu featuring tacos, burritos, beers, and tequila drinks. The restaurant is known for having one of the longest lists of craft margaritas in Columbia, including the Coa Margarita with orange liqueur and Margaritas Frescas with various flavors like pomegranate, hibiscus, cucumber, mint, strawberry, and mango.
This place was SO good we ate here multiple times during our stay in Columbia, SC. The food flavor/quality was the best. Everything was seasoned to perfection and had its own unique combination of flavor when combined. The atmosphere was so relaxing. Tea light candles on the table and paper menus to explore. They were very quick in the kitchen and the prices for the quality of food was amazing. I will always make a pit stop when coming through Columbia. Our server Ashley was so sweet and knowledgeable of the menu. She made a recommendation that I thoroughly enjoyed. The manager was very supportive of a great experience as well. He checked in after the food came. The service we received was collaborative, which was awesome. Everyone ensured that we enjoyed our time at COA. I wish there was one in WA State :)
Tiffany W — Google review
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. The restaurant is dark with candles lit on every table, giving it a romantic vibe. The food and drinks were excellent. I got the Mango Margarita Fresa. It was delicious, well balanced and not too sweet, came with a Tajin rim. For appetizers we got the cevice which came with chips and salsa. It all tasted really nice and fresh. We got some small plates to share, including the Mole Poblano, crab empanadas, and tacos de pancita. Best mole and emapanadas I've ever had. The mole was rich and deep in flavor and turned me into a quail fan. The empanadas were nice and crispy, filled with lump crab and cheese, and served with an avocado mousse. The pork belly in the tacos were good but I wasn't a fan of the adobo glaze, it tasted like ketchup/bbq sauce. Overall, it was a great dining experience and I'm excited to come back again!

Fantastic food and an even better tequila selection! Every dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The staff was knowledgeable and helped us navigate their impressive agave collection. Whether you’re a tequila lover or just after a great meal, Coa is definitely worth the visit. I’ll be back for sure!

This was the best Mezcal old-fashioned I have ever had in my entire life. And I’ve had a lot of Mezcal old-fashioneds. In a lot of countries. It’s my signature drink. Outstanding drinks, food and service with only two small areas of improvement that I will list at the end. First, everything from the bar looked really interesting; keep in mind that they’re using agave in a lot of the drinks, which adds complexity and wonderful flavor. And, of course, Mezcal lends a smokiness to all of that. I had the oaxaquena which was so fresh; the lime really sparkled. And the aforementioned Mezcal old-fashioned. Both wonderful. Our server Natalie was cheerful and attentive. Thanks Natalie! The guacamole, although it looked like a small portion, was really quite generous. Perhaps it’s the bowl they served it in. And the chips and salsa were generous and fresh and flowing. The fried yuca was not stringy. Sometimes it can be a bit stringy and hard. Not so here. My husband’s Carnitas, although again, initially looked like a small portion, really was chock-full of tasty meat. He brought home leftovers. Maybe it’s the bowls/plates that they are using that make it look like a small portion? I had the tacos camarón and the tacos pibil. We cook pibil at home. This was a wonderful interpretation. So what are my complaints? 1. They really should have some sort of soda water from the bar tap, like a bar soda water gun. Instead we had a topo Chico, and it was $4.50, which was fairly expensive, especially knowing how much they cost in other countries! 2. They should have someone at the front of House speaking Spanish. It would be nice to be greeted by somebody who spoke Spanish when I was speaking Spanish asking for a table. Everything else is so authentic, that I was hoping there would be a few Spanish speakers for me. But it’s OK. Just something to consider in the future. But absolutely adding some fresh accessible free seltzer water would be important.

Food was decent but portions were way too small. Ordered my first entree and ate it and had to order an additional one because I was still hungry. The second entree still was flimsy. Waiter was great and very friendly and the drinks were awesome! Just beware of parking because I parked in their lot and end up getting a $70 ticket. There were no signs posted that it was paid parking. Not worth going back to/

We tried to make a reservation in advance, but online it is only possible for parties of 10 or more. So we waited until the restaurant opened at 4 pm and called. On the phone, after asking how many we were and what time we would like to come, we said four people at 6:30 pm. The answer was just come by, it is fine, we are not too busy today. Luckily, we arrived at 6 pm, because when we got there they told us there was only one table left, otherwise it would be a 30 minute wait. When we asked why reservations are not possible in general, they explained it is because of too many cancellations. Other restaurants deal with that as well and still make it work. You could always reserve part of the dining room and keep some tables for walk ins, and then release the tables if someone does not show up. Hard to understand. Our server Gonzalo was absolutely fantastic, super helpful, friendly, and always smiling. Thank you! As for the food, I had the milanesa and was really disappointed. There was no seasoning, way more breading than meat, and the whole thing was dry and flavorless. I even ordered guacamole just to dip the meat in so I could eat it. The arugula salad also came with cilantro, which was not listed on the menu. That should definitely be mentioned, because for people like me cilantro tastes like soap and it ruined the dish. We told Gonzalo and he immediately brought us a new one without cilantro. Thanks again Gonzalo. We also had quesadillas. They were okay but nothing special. It is important to know that here they are made with taco shells. The combination of ingredients was unusual, and I would have preferred the cheese and meat together inside the shell. In our case, the cheese was only at the bottom and the meat was on top, so there was never really the taste of cheese and meat combined in one bite. Parking is tricky too, but that is not the restaurant’s fault. Just a heads up for anyone reading this, the lot right next door requires payment even on weekends after 6 pm, otherwise you will get a 70 dollar ticket. Bottom line, the atmosphere is great, service is outstanding, but the kitchen needs to step it up, at least when it comes to my dishes. I have heard the poblano is excellent, even the table next to us said so, so maybe we will give it another try and order something different next time.

First time eating here and It won’t be the last ! It was a hard decision to choose what to eat because everything sounds delightful ,but we tried the mole , tamal , and the sopes de pastor . All entrees were flavorful and delicious ! The place is so cozy and nice inside and the service is phenomenal. It was worth the drive .

Loved the chips with salsa and guacamole, as well as the Poblano Relleno. Both were excellent. The Choco pastel dessert was also very good. Not being a connoisseur of cocktails, I can only confirm that mine was OK. Lively and modern atmosphere was appreciated. Our server explained the dishes quite well and service timely and efficient. Will definitely visit again.

Hendrix is an industrial-style restaurant in downtown Columbia, serving a diverse menu of creative small plates and hearty mains. Since 2018, the rooftop bar has been a popular spot for enjoying bites like gochujang deviled eggs and drinks such as the Indah Espresso Old Fashioned. The restaurant offers a mix of local and global influences in its dishes and cocktails.
When I say one of the best places to go in Columbia, I mean that. From the atmosphere to the food, and the service from the staff was Top Tier. This is definitely my new go to place. My wife enjoyed her birthday dinner and all of the drinks was superb 👌. Just know I'll always support especially if my favorite waiter "Mary" I think that was her name is there...Thanks again for a great experience.

Tonight was my first time dining at Hendrix and it was an awesome experience. Mekenzie was phenomenally outstanding as our waitress tonight. From start to finish, she did an impeccable job. The food, from the appetizers to dessert AH-MA-ZING-AH!!! I really enjoyed myself with my friends tonight at Hendrix.

Absolutely enjoyed our time here! The place is really nice and perfect for a dinner date! I am very pleased with the food! We ordered oysters, mussels, pork belly deviled eggs, and the cheese board, and I will say everything was just perfect! Totally would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys great food and great drinks! Our server, Emilee did a phenomenal job taking care of us!

Great American fusion restaurant. Their menu includes dishes that take inspiration from around the world. My favorites were the spicy lamb naan and Peri Peri Chicken. Our server was great and very patient with our large group. Prices were expectedly high, and I'd definitely come back if I come back to Colombia!

I was really looking forward to trying Hendrix after seeing great reviews on Facebook. I travel here once a month for work and was excited to have a new spot to add to my routine. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I sat at the bar and was completely ignored for several minutes. The bartender was making drinks for a couple, which I understood, but she didn’t even acknowledge me. After finishing, she walked away. I was about to leave when she finally dropped off a menu without saying a word — no greeting, no water, nothing. When she came back, she asked what I wanted to drink. I asked if she could make a flavored tea, and she said no, so I ordered water. I decided on the stuffed quail with dirty rice and greens. A gentleman sat to my right, and it was clear she knew him. She brought him water and started chatting. Soon two of his friends joined, and her full attention was on their group. She eventually brought my food — which was actually really good — but that was the last I heard from her until I asked for my check. My water glass stayed empty while she refilled theirs; I finally had to ask another waitress for a refill. The food was delicious, but the service made me feel unwelcome. Even the hostess didn’t say goodbye when I left. I was so excited to try this place, but after how I was treated, I don’t think I’ll be back. $52 wasted — because customer service means more to me than good food. I even left a note on the receipt that said, “If you were more attentive, I would’ve left a much larger tip.

We ordered the blue crab hush puppies and they were phenomenal! So, we thought we would keep the seafood crab vibe going and ordered the soft crab sandwich. Oh my gosh!! Why did we do that! I am from Beaufort, SC so I have grown up eating blue crabs and the likes. I must commend this restaurant on the idea to serve a whole crab sandwich; might I add shells included. This was not and is not a good choice on their menu. We basically purchased the part of the crab people throw away. I would not recommend the soft crab sandwich unless you crave soft shells. To a better note: the service was awesome and atmosphere is perfect for a romantic night.

Our party of 10 had a great time on the rooftop. The small plates are amazing, especially the lamb, okra and Brussel sprouts. Service was on point and prices are reasonable.

Wine bar
Lula Drake Wine Parlour, located on Main Street, has a rich history dating back to the 1920s when it was a hat shop owned by Ms. Lula Drake herself. Today, it's an elegant wine bar offering more than just your typical wine pours. The menu is small but diverse and perfectly complements the selection of wines available each night. The chef specializes in crafting unique handmade pasta dishes such as chitarra cut pasta strands and purple potato gnocchi.
Lula Drake wine parlour is the best bar you’ll find in South Carolina. As soon as you walk in the staff welcomes you with open arms. Shoutout Jess the bartender, very assertive and accommodating. The dark chocolate terrine cake is out of this world. The bar is beautiful and the ambiance inside is original and pristine. Really a great vibe for the city of Columbia.

Incredible experience at Lula Drake! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The food and the wine was unreal. Everything was paired so perfectly. I tried the Somm’s choice with dinner and it was amazing. So much care and attention to the details that really make Lula Drake special. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you for a wonderful night!
J — Google review
It’s no wonder that the Lula Drake was named the friendliest place in South Carolina by Southern Living Magazine last year. Throw on their other accolades like a James Beard award last year and you certainly have a recipe for success. Thank God, I was with a table of people that love to share with one another so that we could order practically one of everything. The wine and cocktails were obviously exceptional, but the stars of the show for me was the Korean fried chicken ‘KFC’ and the Cacio E Pepe. The chicken was incredibly crunchy on the outside while also so juicy on the inside with a sticky sauce that was packed with flavor and wasn’t overly spicy. However, their take on a traditional, humble pasta dish was over the top. The gnocchi like pillows were decadent and melted in your mouth. What I loved most was that since they are in a subtle sauce with fresh cracked pepper it allows them to be the star of the dish without being overpowered by a bold sauce. The ambience of the restaurant was elevated without being pretentious and while it was a fairly tight space, the staff was very accommodating, and our server was phenomenal. There are a number of great spots for a cocktail or dessert on this stretch in Columbia, so come hungry.

Loved everything. Service was great (thanks Bailey), and the food? The cacio e Pepe gnocchi with ham is by far the best dish I’ve ever had. Ever. It’s a must!

Wonderful little spot in the city! The atmosphere is cozy yet elegant, perfect for a relaxing evening. The Sidecar was absolutely astounding — a fantastic blend of gin and sweet that hit all the right notes. The real treat, though, was the Lula’s Lieutenant — two perfectly cooked chicken legs with rich Indian spices. Absolutely incredible and bursting with flavor. Easily one of the most unique and delicious dishes I’ve had in a while.

Shout out to Jessica for going above and beyond tonight. I called and chatted with her about my partner going in there tonight by herself and asked if I could pay her bill as a surprise. She was excited to help and beyond that, she gave my partner an amazing experience with superior customer service. The food was a 10/10 (and my partner is quite the food critic). Everything was fantastic. Thank you x a million! Hope I get to visit someday!

Terrific experience. Not “dinner and drinks”, but an experience. The wine program, the food, the service, the atmosphere, all come together to create a warm memory. We lucked out and got the best seat in the house at the front window. Our server, Erin Lee, greeted us warmly. I had read about their wine program and was very excited to try wines by the glass I would not normally have access to by the glass. I’m not a wine expert but I can capably describe what I like. Erin Lee listened very attentively and brought me wines that were perfectly suited to my tastes. Most restaurants are a food menu with a wine program wrapped around it. I would argue the strength of this establishment is the reverse; figure out what wine you really want and then order food around that. Not to suggest their menu is second tier – far from it. Everything we ordered was great and Erin Lee had great suggestions. If you’re not into wine or alcohol you will still absolutely enjoy. Or, if you’re like me, go with both white and red and order all around LOL. Service was very good. Staff promptly removes unwanted items from the table without fuss or hovering. Bonus points for lack of pretentiousness. Can’t wait to go back.

Such a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. Lula Drakes is perfect for a date, small gathering of friends, or even a solo night with a book such as I myself had. The food and wine were divine ~ I especially loved the cacio e pepe, so creamy and pillowy. I'm not usually a huge wine drinker, but Lula Drakes menu made paring wine and food so easy, as did my wonderful server, Bailey. Everyone was so welcoming from the moment I stepped in the door, but Bailey shined brightest of all. I can't wait to come back and try more of the delicious wine and dishes. If you visit, take time to read the wine descriptions. They made me smile and were quite spot on. :) Thank you, everyone, at Lula Drakes!

My husband and I came in this afternoon for an early dinner. He is in restaurants and I’m in healthcare, so it’s rare we get the occasion to go to a nice, relaxing dinner together. We were celebrating our anniversary early because as it goes, he will be out of town for work. We didn’t mention this, as we didn’t want or need extra attention. Our server was EXCEPTIONAL, the food was outstanding….from the subdued, polite, young host, to the moment we left, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. Kudos! We used to be regulars when we lived downtown, but when we get the chance, we will certainly return. I highly recommend to anyone who likes a laid back, relaxing atmosphere and great wine and food selection from start to finish. Thank you for a lovely date night.

We stopped in for a drink and appetizers and were pleasantly surprised. We initially sat inside but moved outside as the weather was great. Our waiter was excellent, he provided great service and was very personable. We had a combination of celiac disease requiring gluten free options as we as shellfish and specifically allergy to muscles. He understood the allergies and options as well as very knowledgeable of the menu, wine and other drink options. The appetizers we selected were all very good as well as the drink choices. Oh, our group tried two of the wine flights that were very nice selections too.

Wonderful waitress!! Atmosphere is always a vibe! The food was ok, wedge salad presentation was mediocre( so I didn't take a picture). The noochi needed a bit more flavor. Shrimp was cooked perfectly, and the brie spread was delish. Overall, it was a great experience!

Newly relocated to the Columbia area, I was out exploring the scene for a drink and bite to eat. I happened upon Gervais and Vine in passing and figure it would be a good opportunity to try out a new spot and gamble on getting my fix of both for the night. It proved to be a great choice as I had an extremely enjoyable evening orchestrated by my waiter Josh and chef Jeff. Both gentlemen were very pleasant, personable and had an apparent passion for their jobs which showed through in the services that were provided. They deserve special recognition. The wine and dishes I tried at Josh’s suggested were all delicious and the vibes in the atmosphere were perfect in distracting my mind from the work day. Coming from Charleston SC, I was nervous about not having an experience that would compare to what I was use to but Gervais and Vine represented Columbia well and made me feel at home in a foreign land. I highly recommend giving them a try. I feel confident that you’ll leave just as impressed.

Colonial Life Arena is a top-notch indoor arena located on the University of South Carolina campus. It serves as the home base for both men's and women's Gamecock basketball, hosting numerous sold-out games and NCAA tournaments. With a seating capacity of 18,000, cutting-edge audiovisual technology, and various food and beverage options available during events, it offers an exceptional experience for attendees. In addition to sporting events, the arena also hosts iconic music acts and corporate trade shows.
Spent the weekend of 3/22-3/23/2025 in Columbia SC. I attended the Lady Gamecocks 2025 NCAA Tournament second round game. The crowd was alive and cheering throughout. I paid $20.00 for parking in a nice size parking deck. The price of parking was a lot cheaper than expected. The ushers moved us all into the CLA in a reasonable amount of time. It wasn't hard finding my seats (section 112, row 20, seats 13-14). Indiana had a great game plan in the first half. The second half was a totally different story. Overall, it was a great game, and the ticket prices weren't outrageous, in my opinion. I can't comment on the food I had eaten before the game. This is a family environment, and the fans really support their Lady Gamecocks basketball team.

Exceptional Service from Karen at Colonial Life Arena I want to commend Karen, an attendant in section 113/114 for her outstanding assistance today at Colonial Life Arena. My husband and I had tickets for the circus (section 113, seats 9 and 10) but encountered unexpected challenges when we arrived—my husband, who has knee problems, struggled to manage the stairs. Karen went above and beyond to help us find alternative seating in a section with fewer stairs, ensuring my husband could enjoy the show comfortably. Her kindness and quick problem-solving made all the difference for us. We were also able to offer our original floor-level tickets to someone else, so her efforts truly helped multiple people. Karen’s professionalism and empathy turned what could have been a stressful situation into a positive experience. We are incredibly grateful for her help and wanted to share how much we appreciated her kindness. Thank you, Karen, for making our visit so much better!

Nice stadium/outdoor setting. Was here for an R&B concert. The stage is visible from all angles. Its a very large arena. Has a huge screen TV. Its set on a hill/valley type of structure where the stage is at the bottom (Like a valley) and the seating at the bottom that's level with the stage has chairs but the rest of the seating goes upwards like a hill and its grassy. Check out the pics I posted for a better visual. Overall nice ambiance.

Our first visit (Rodeo) was good. Well laid out with restrooms, food, etc. The seating is small so uncomfortable if you’re not tiny/have someone next to you that’s not tiny. Otherwise, we were very pleased and do plan to return!

Attended the Brandon Lake concert in October, 2025. The staff, law enforcement and even private security staff made it an easy and wonderful experience, despite the 13k people in attendance. My only recommendations are to eat before you arrive, as even the restaurants in walking distance were slammed with attendees. We did arrive and hour and a half early, and found parking with no issues. Entrance was easy, and the staff and law enforcement bad everything from traffic to seating was easy! For any event, just get there early enough to find your way around.

We saw Chicago at the Township Auditorium. Such a terrific experience! Public parking was cheap and just three quick blocks away from the entrance. The venue was staffed with friendly folks and was very tidy. There were kiosks where you could get your favorite beverage. Restrooms were well-maintained and close by. After getting "nose-bleed" seating for James Taylor at the Colonial Life Arena, we spent a bit more money and got seating pretty close to the stage. Orchestra Seating 8 rows back! SMART MOVE! We could see the band easily, as they performed. The sound level wasn't overpowering, either. Chicago put on a 2-hour show with a 20 minute intermission. The show was GREAT! Well worth the $$! We will looking at attending future shows here.

I love this venue and I have seen quite a number of great shows at the Township over the years. On a recent visit, I realized how tight the seating is. There is very little leg room, and I believe the seats were made in a time when Americans were much skinnier. Still, it is a great place to see a show in a smaller venue. I am posting photos from a recent Steve Miller Band concert.

Really dissapointed. The seats I was supposed to get were on the outside of the row, but the venue decided the chalk writing should go in the opposite direction so I ended up with half of my view blocked by a sound booth. So I paid almost 80 dollars to not be able to even see the show. It also took me three different bathroom stalls to find one that had an actual working lock, not to mention the stalls were difficult to get into because of the wide door. I don't think I will be visiting this venue again.

Living in Columbia all my life I never been to this place and I understood today why. The building and location is great but the service was horrible. I felt unwelcomed from the time I sat down. The bartenders act as I was disturbing them and my food was burned. I add the S because it was all of them. For a person who has been a bartender and waitress and who easily have a 200 dollar bill....I was glade to only have spent under 50 to spend more at a business that welcomes me.

Steel Hands Brewing is dedicated to enriching the local community, promoting innovation, and ensuring top-notch beer quality, customer service, and taproom ambiance. They host live music on weekends and offer brewery tours multiple days a week. This family-friendly establishment boasts an outdoor beer garden where even your furry companions can join in the fun. Located just outside downtown Columbia SC, Steel Hands Brewing sits on a vast four-acre property across from one of the country's largest rebar manufacturing facilities—hence its name.
Came here around 2p on a Saturday, with a group of 8 on a cloudy day. Plenty of indoor seating but outside tables and parking were harder to come by. Prettier Than Matt was the band playing at the time, and they’re always entertaining. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable when ordering. I always get a flight so I can try different things. I also ordered a pretzel and avocado tacos with mahi. The food came out in a reasonable amount of time and was hot and fresh. Another band came in later, but I didn’t catch the name. They played mostly 90’s hits and were pretty good. The crowd of mostly Gen X people seemed to fade to a younger crowd by the time we left around 6p. Steel hands is always a great way to spend an afternoon with friends, good music, good beer and food! Lots of well behaved dogs. The only thing of note was that a couple in our party are not big beer drinkers. They were looking for a cider, which they don’t have, so opted for wine instead. Also available are cocktails.
Shannon J — Google review
Atypical location, between steel/gas/concrete factories, but close to the town. Lots of tables inside and even more outside. Great beer menu. Food is rather limited to sandwiches, which did not impress us, but would come again for the overall place. Staff was very friendly too.
Sylvain F — Google review
At first, we thought this place was going to be a hit when we pulled up, but after leaving, we're just not sure if we would recommend it or even return. We decided to start with some food since we were on a tight schedule. The young lady taking our order was awkwardly shy and seemed to lack enthusiasm for customer service, which was a bit off-putting. We ordered the "limited" stuffed pretzel, and honestly, we wish we had skipped it. It lacked flavor and definitely not worth the price. On the bright side, the fries were excellent, and the ranch dipping sauce was fantastic. As for the beer selection, they offered some great options, and we thoroughly enjoyed the beers we tried. However, the "bar" style ordering system was a downside. It was frustrating having people cut in or act entitled to their turn, and the staff didn’t seem to enforce any order. This place could really benefit from table QR codes for ordering food and drinks without having to get up. Since they already have staff running food from the kitchen, it would make sense to have someone handle drink orders too!

Steel Hands was a great time! I can't say enough good things about the way that they've ingratiated themselves into the local community! I went on a special Gamecock night, and there were tons (I'd guess hundreds) of people decked out in Gamecock gear, and they had local journalists there to provide insights into the upcoming college football season. It was really a sight to see. In addition to that, they had a great live music band, who played a lot of great country music hits. Finally, their craft beer is great, and I loved their IPAs. Overall, five (5) stars for Steel Hands, for a variety of reasons! I hope they'll be in Columbia for years to come!

Decent beer. Below average food. The mango hazy IPA was okay. Nothing to write home about. The pecan brown ale was pretty good. Buttery, a little hoppy, very nice and balanced. My burger was fine, not exceptional. My wife got the blackened mahi sandwich, though, and it was pretty bad. The onions and blackening spices helped to drown out the strong fishy taste it got from being overcooked, but was not good overall. She couldn't finish it.

Steel Hands Brewery, where the air shimmered with the scent of grilled meat and hops, and the clink of glasses echoed like a spell of welcome. There, I encountered a dish worthy of legend: the Smash Burger. Its arrival was humble, yet divine. The patty—seared to golden perfection—held the kind of flavor that speaks of fire, patience, and reverence. Sharp cheddar crowned it like a noble crest, its bite harmonizing with the richness below. The bun, soft as a cloud yet kissed by flame, offered a texture that danced between comfort and crispness. Beside it, the fries—golden spears of joy—crackled with salt and warmth. Their companion, a signature peppered ketchup, was no mere condiment. It was a potion: smoky, sweet, and tinged with spice, awakening the senses like a bard’s tale told by firelight. And then, the final pairing: the All Citra IPA. Brewed fresh, its citrus-forward notes burst forth like sunlight through forest canopy. It didn’t just complement the meal—it elevated it, turning each bite into a celebration. In that moment, Steel Hands Brewery was no longer just a place. It was a portal. Had the Steel Hands burger and a flight of beers. The burger was ok and typical bar food. Same for the beer and service. If you're in the area it's fine but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Jake's is a laid-back sports pub that offers a variety of farm-to-table bar snacks and a wide selection of craft beers on tap. The spacious patio provides a relaxed atmosphere for patrons, including seniors looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Five Points. This dog-friendly establishment also hosts Yappy Hours, where owners can bring their furry friends to socialize while enjoying delicious food and refreshing beverages.
This place is great! Tvs everywhere outside as well as a bar...someone walking around to keep the dogs in check is amazing. Allows me to engage with people instead of worrying about the dog
Ty B — Google review
I traveled from out of state and specifically chose Jake’s because of its dog-friendly reputation. I researched the policy ahead of time. The current PDF on their website says dogs must be leashed by 11PM, with no mention of a 10PM cutoff. When I returned after feeding my dog, we were told dogs aren’t allowed after 10. Mind you I was just in there… after 10, another dog in there as well. Just went to the car to feed my dog. The policy isn’t posted anywhere, and other dogs had been there moments before. When I brought this up, I was told ‘the policy changed 6 months ago’ but again, this wasn’t reflected anywhere online or on site. It felt dishonest and dismissive, especially to someone who went out of their way to follow the rules. When I asked to see a policy I was told “they have the right to turn anyone away” which yes is true, but how ethical is that if it’s a complete lie? ..or to have nothing to back it up? This is my first time visiting Columbia and I’ve been really excited but this completely ruined my night. I downloaded and read the entire policy and went back to discuss this with them and all I got was deflection. Really upset over this. I would’ve visited another city if I knew we’d be treated this way.

I usually love this place, but I’ve had several strange experiences lately. The staff is generally great, except for the blonde bartender who works inside. Now, I only get drinks from the outside bar because she’s consistently rude and clearly chooses who to serve first. I work in F&B and fully understand how stressful it can be behind the bar, but what I can’t excuse is her attitude. It’s one thing to hustle for tips, but there’s no reason to serve every man before a woman, especially when we’ve been waiting longer. Ladies, save yourself the frustration and head to the outside bar instead.

we love jakes. vibe is always great, staff are friendly, plenty of space. the outdoor area is awesome when the weather is great and def a better experience than other bars when youre all cramped up inside

Great time tonight at “yappy hour” where the dogs run free in the back patio. All the dogs were very well behaved and had a great time. Food was okay, slightly overpriced in our opinion for the quality, but worth it to come for an app or two and have some drinks. My husband enjoyed the beer selection- says it’s “very very good.” The owner? was giving out the dogs treats and saying hi to everyone which was a nice touch. Overall, a really pleasant way to spend an evening for any dog parent.

We were a little nervous going to Jake's because we knew all the dogs were going to be there. It took our dog a few minutes to get used to being able to walk around with all the food around, but he loved it. The manager it owner was walking around the whole time making sure there weren't any fights (not that he had to worry). The food was excellent and their rippers (deep fried hot dogs) were amazing! As for us, it took some getting used to telling someone else's dog not too jump on the picnink table, but it was worth every bit.

New Brookland Tavern is a long-standing music club and tavern in Columbia, serving as a cornerstone of the city's vibrant music scene for over two decades. The venue hosts local and touring bands, as well as open-mic comedy nights. Situated in an area with various dining and entertainment options, it provides a platform for diverse musical genres, including country, blues, rock, jazz, and bluegrass.
It was a very intimate show and the atmosphere was great. The show was awesome and we had a great experience. Plenty of free or meter parking around (meter parking us also free after a certain time). Would love to come back here again soon.

New Brookland Tavern was alright. Their music is hit-or-miss and the bar is mediocre at best - I was not impressed with their selection of beers or cocktails. They do have a pretty cool alleyway where you can stop and chat with other patrons. Overall, it's an average bar and venue.
John D — Google review
It's the oldest, longest running music venue in the Columbia area for a reason. I've been going to shows here for a long time, and thankful for the effort that goes into keeping this place alive. After having not visited in a while, I recently went to two shows here. I was happy to see the updates that had been made, and enjoyed hearing music on the new sound system. Keep up the great work NBT!

Been to a couple concerts here now. It's a great little venue. Small and intimate. There's plenty of free parking nearby. The bar serves a wide selection of local and regional beers and is priced super reasonably for a concert venue. There's a guy at a window in the outdoor area out back who also serves equally reasonably-priced food. Looking forward to attending many more great shows here over the years.

Dropped into New Brookland Tavern out in Five Points, and let me tell ya—this place is exactly what it's supposed to be: gritty, live, and raw. These cats run shows 365 days a year, from Emo Nights to local bands to touring acts—and they ain't playin' around. The bar’s modest, but strong drinks and solid beer selection keep it real. Intimate setup with vintage bar stools and old-school pool table—feels like you step back in time. No frills, no fuss—just music and soul. Crowd’s tight-knit, staff treats you like fam, and parking ain’t a nightmare considering the area. If you're hunger for some actual local music and gritty South Carolina energy, this is the spot. Just don't expect no VIP gloss—this is a true music dive, and that's why it's legendary. 5 stars for authenticity and consistent live vibes.

I Just keft there they gave me greasy food. I specifically told cashier i wanted over well chicken and wing chips. It was greasy could not eat that. I paid 21.00 for quesadilla chicken, soda and wing chips. I need my money back. The chicken quesadilla was greasy too. Nobody wants all that grease. I am highly disappointed.

Craft And Draft is a popular spot with locations on Devine Street and in Irmo, offering a wide selection of craft beers. With 56 taps across both locations, the bar hosts tap takeover nights, rare kegs, and themed charity events. The friendly atmosphere makes it easy to strike up conversations with fellow beer enthusiasts. In addition to the on-site bar, they also have a retail section stocked with unique bombers, bottles, and cans.
Still on my brewery tour. Always grab a flight to have a little taste of everything. Cool little spot. They have about 10 on tap, you can ask grab a craft beer out of the fridge to enjoy here or take it home. They have a small selection of wine too. Got to appreciate the owner that followed his dream to open up a brewery.

TLDR: A MUST TRY, LOCAL GEM!! Almost hesitant posting how FREAKING amazing this place is, because the second people realize, it’s going to be PACKED 24/7. 1000/10 every single time. Infinite delicious beer/cider choices and the food, THE FOOD. Everything is prepared to absolute perfection and they keep it fun with rotating menu items! I seriously can’t say enough good things about the food, you HAVE to experience it for yourself to understand the magnitude of how amazing everything is! To tie the experience together, the atmosphere is perfection, outside seating at night, the lighting is adorable in a vintage backyard setting! Last but not least, the PRICES!!! Super affordable in general but INSANELY affordable when considering the quality of the drinks, food, atmosphere, and service! Random Tap is an absolute MUST try for anyone and everyone!! *This review is based on several visits, each time just as amazing as the last if not better!

The place has a "Cheers" ( old sitcom show where everyone knows your name) vibe, which is great for comfort. It appears that their main source of fame is their beer taps because everything else is either can or bottle so no refills on nothing. The food is not the best but it's good if you're drinking. Overall, it's a cool little place just needs to improve on recipes.
Lavonda B — Google review
The food tasted good but was WAY overpriced for what you get. I paid way too much to still be hungry when we left. We ate snacks for the same price that we could have had adult entrées elsewhere. They also don't have fountain sodas, only cans. We won't be returning based on all of the above.

Service was top notch, if you are going here for the beer and atmosphere it's a very nice little place. This review is about the food, Not the Beer. Stuffed Mushrooms : $10 Raw Mushroom caps with a Chip dip inside. Not what I was expecting, Not Good, Not Worth $. French Fries w/truffle : $7 Frozen French fries with Garlic drizzle. Had better at Red Robin. Tap Burger : $16 for a Tiny Meat Patty that was propped up with lettuce and a tomato. Sadly enough 5 Guy's burger is better and had more quality meat. I went in hoping for the best. Unfortunately this place, like every other restaurant in Columbia was Not Good.

I had the taco sweet potato (vegan) a 5/5, and hubby had the pimento burger w/fries. The burger was a solid 4.5/5. The fries were definitely a 5/5. We will be back for the overall vibe and staff. Woodys showed us an amazing time! The customer service was great (our friends had a different experience with an older female employee there) I danced from the time we walked in until we left. Good range of dance music. The food was way better than I could have expected. I recommend the shrimp and fish. We were able to substitute the coleslaw for fries. Will be back soon!

Amazing brunch! We’ve been regularly enough that I think I’ve tried it all. I recommend anything with brisket, but the beignets and pancakes are great if you’re in a sweets mood. The pineapple mimosa is a must-have. Reservations usually required for drag brunch, it fills up fast!

I was there on Saturday night and the bar was very busy. I noticed the crowd was a bit unruly but the bartenders were handling the rude obnoxious crowd with patience and professionalism. I was impressed with the entire staff but I’d recommend a different type of music bring it back to the old woody style. Love the bar but the crowd & music style brings in a rowdy entitled crowd.

Weekends at The Woody are great dance parties and the monthly drag brunch is a blast. Get the Woody Wienie with chilli and slaw and thank me later. They've recently added a meat and three lunch special which is outstanding. I've had the pork chop as well as the meatloaf. They were equally delicious.

We there on a sat night and one of the bartenders was rude and she threw my check at me! It was a loud atmosphere and I was trying to tell her what I wanted and she said “CALM DOWN”. I ordered 5 drinks, she only got 3 and tried to cash me out and I told her I had 2 more drinks. After I got all my drinks she threw the check! I ask to speak to a manager. Which I knew nothing was going to be said, the manager said she would speak to her. Apparently they was short staffed and was getting yelled at all night. You don’t throw a check at a customer bc you thought I was being nasty! I work with patients and get yelled at but do I get nasty with them or throw things at them no. That bartender needs to be trained for customer service! I’m giving this place business with my money and you want to throw my check at me…

Riverbanks Zoo & Garden in South Carolina is a popular tourist destination that offers a unique combination of a botanical garden and a mid-size zoo. The 70-acre themed gardens feature over 4,200 species of native and exotic plants, including a rose garden, Asian garden, Walled Garden, and Waterfall Junction with children's attractions. The 170-acre zoo is home to more than 2,000 creatures from various habitats.
We visited the zoo on a Sunday. It was moderately busy but not too bad. It had a variety of exhibits. Definitely could easily spend 2-4 hours here. Lots to see, lots of food and drink options. Tickets were $25 per person. We really enjoyed our afternoon. The bathrooms were clean, lines were short. We visited the botanical gardens in the back. Those are not worth seeing. Very basic, nothing special. Lots of walking to get to them… so I’d skip if we returned. Great place for family & kids or even just a date spot. My only complaint is the special exhibits close early, and earlier than they state. I wanted to ride a camel and see the giraffes up close and both closed “at 6” and actually closed at 5:30. So we missed that opportunity.
Kenzie K — Google review
Wow, so much fun! Lush well planned grounds, flowers and butterflies everywhere. The animals look fantastic and have ample enclosures. The aquarium is wonderful. The sky ride to the botanical gardens over the Edisto River is really nice with great views. Gardens are a must see!

We bought tickets online ahead of time and they were slightly cheaper and you paid for parking right then too. The park was great, we went for my son's first birthday and just walked around and enjoyed everything!! I used to go there as a kid so I wanted to take him there as well. We drove from Savannah, GA! Would definitely recommend for a family trip. Great place, looks clean, nice staff, easy pathways, animals look well taken care of. Fun all around!!
Nicole Z — Google review
We were visiting from out of town and looking for something to do and what a pleasant surprise we loved the zoo and gardens! There's lots of animals to see, some we hadn't seen in any zoos back home. Then you can take their new sky tram (included in ticket) to visit the garden side. I'm not a huge fan of plants so I didn't have high expectations, but that side was excellent as well! Right now they have Lego sculptures on display which is fun. Lots of paths to explore and a huge kid area with water features (seasonal) and other fun things. If I were local I would definitely buy a membership.
Ashley C — Google review
Always love a trip to the Zoo with the family. This time we headed to the botanical gardens. Did not disappoint. Amazing staff, lots to see and the air ride over the lake was great amd saved us a walk between the Zoo and botanical gardens. Will definitely return in the spring.

Went on a fairly busy day, but were able to move through everything in about 3.5 hrs with two young kids. Loved this zoo. Its not too big and provides a lot of shade on the paths and theres a good mix of indoor/outdoor exhibits, so going in summer won't be horrible. Theres a lot of events for kids like animal feeding, obstacle courses, carousel, and lots of food/bathroom stations scattered around. For 2 adults and 2 kids, it was over $100 to get in, but that didnt include the extra costs for animal feeding and extra events.
Andrew Y — Google review
Such an amazing zoo. Compared to San Diego Zoo, a world class zoo, I enjoyed this one more. The enclosures and exhibits for the animals were really nice. There was a water splash area in the back of the botanical garden that the kids really liked. BRING TOWELS AND A SWIM SUIT FOR THE LITTLES! We also really enjoyed the ropes course for the older kids and the ropes course for the younger kids too. Both were very inexpensive, relatively speaking.

Blue Marlin is a renowned seafood restaurant located in the heart of Columbia, offering classic Southern dishes made with locally sourced and sustainable fish. Housed in a former train station, the restaurant boasts contemporary environs and a well-stocked bar serving an array of libations. Their Sunday brunch menu features a delightful fusion of Lowcountry crab cakes with Eggs Benedict and Hollandaise sauce, alongside grits and asparagus.
The Blue Marlin in Columbia, SC is an absolute gem. The crab cake entrée was perfectly seasoned and full of flavor, one of the best I’ve ever had. The Southern Candied Pecan Salad was just as impressive, fresh and balanced with just the right touch of sweetness. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a great meal. Highly recommend for anyone looking for delicious Southern-inspired seafood and a welcoming dining experience.

I had high hopes for this restaurant, but everything was just average. The ambiance was nice, but nothing stood out. The food was okay—not bad, but not memorable either. Service was fine, but lacked warmth or enthusiasm. It’s not a bad spot, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations.

The complimentary bread with butter was delicious, but the shrimp and grits was bomb. The crab cakes with rice and collard greens was delicious too. The inside had a historic and cozy feeling to it. Overall, I would return to this place whenever I'm in Columbia again.

It was a nice lunch for our large group. We had a big round table that could hold 8-10. The menu was pretty big, but we all ended up having different renditions of 3 dishes (shrimp and grits/crab cake/pasta) The service was a little slow especially since the restaurant wasn’t full. The drinks were good and the food was served in generous portions.

We stopped in here for dinner before attending a concert and couldn't be happier with our choice! The atmosphere was so welcoming when we entered and we were so well taken care of. For drinks, I had a strawberry pineapple mule that was so refreshing and my hubby had a hard cider. A basket of warm bread & butter was brought out and was the perfect balance of crisp exterior and tender interior. For the entrées, I had fried Gulf oysters with fries and slaw. The oysters were cooked perfectly and were tender & succulent when I bit into them (left my hubby try one🦪😁). My hubby had the special of bacon wrapped filet with crab cake & green beans. The filet melted in your mouth and barely needed a knife and the crab cake was low on fillers but high on crab🦀! A fab surprise was the bowl of house made greens that our waiter brought us on the house. No kidding these were the BEST greens that were so tender with big flavor complemented by the all-day cook, hamhocks, and zip from the vinegar. For dessert, we shared a slice of the BEST, most vibrant key lime pie🤤🤤🤤

Thank you Alexis M for Wonderful customer service!!! The only things I would change: is the lighting at certain times~ if it's still daylight there should be a little more lighting on the inside, I seen one customer using cell phone light to view menu; I tried getting Watermelon mocktail ordered spicy cause I seen another drink on menu mentioning with jalapeños for spicy, well what I received looked good but it taste like pickle juice with watermelon instead of spicy watermelon...Lexi tried for bartender to correct and wasn't informed until after 2nd fail attempt that for spicy comes with alcohol and only have pickled jalapeños to make non-alcoholic attempt for spicy fruity beverage; the other thing I like my crust to stay on my fish when fried- I had the Blue Marlin seafood platter and my flounder was flaking everywhere so some bites was just crust; Lastly a bit disappointed at the mash potatoes tasting instant, no flavor. Otherwise, enjoyed the crab cake, shrimp, mix vegetable medley, and the creme brulee cheesecake 😋 👌🏾 😀

Nestled in a former textile mill, the South Carolina State Museum stands as a beacon of knowledge and creativity, showcasing an impressive collection of 70,000 artifacts across four expansive floors. This interactive museum invites visitors to explore the rich tapestry of South Carolina's art, history, nature, and science from prehistoric times to modern-day. Families will find it particularly engaging with its planetarium featuring rotating shows and an observatory equipped with cutting-edge telescopes.
I thought this was a great museum and a great price point. It was only $13 for adults, $33 if you did the extra Disney exhibit. The exhibits were interesting and ranged from early history to war-time era. I really enjoyed the visiting Disney exhibit. It was really neat to see all the costumes from different films.

There are 4 floors with so much to look at. We started on the 4th floor and worked our way down. 3 hours and I don't think we were able to see everything. I have a mobility cart and it was so easy to move around and see the displays. Reasonably priced admission and well worth it.

Had a great time here! Went on the first Sunday so admission was just 1 dollar. Even though there was a good sized crowd, it wasn’t so large that I wasn’t able to see everything I wanted to. Great place for a family outing or just something to do to pass the time. Would definitely go back again for some of the other paid exhibits.

Disney’s Heroes and Villains costume exhibit was well worth a visit. It featured a captivating collection of iconic outfits worn by renowned actors and actresses in beloved films. Seeing the costumes up close was magical. The museum's broader exhibit was extensive, covering a wide range of subjects and historical periods. The displays were engaging, with some interactive elements that added to the experience.

Had a good time here at The South Carolina State Museum! Went on the first Sunday so admission was only a 1 dollar. Lots of exhibits to wander through and a nice gift shop!
Sarah S — Google review
Overall an enjoyable experience, but extreme cold from too much air conditioning and poor working order for many exhibits affects recommendation for visiting the museum. I estimate that 25% of the exhibits are at some state of disrepair. In addition, the planetarium show I went to, while very informative, was more of an academic lecture than an entertaining show. Regarding the 4D Coastal Predators show, the production value was descent, but it was only 10 minutes long. Lastly, the attached photo provides a perfect example of improvement opportunities throughout the museum.
Paul S — Google review
I had assumed there would be the expected exhibits: We farmed rice and indigo... We defeated the British when they tried to take over Charleston the first time... oops on the second time ...Slavery was a stain on our history... General Sherman tore us up... And, oh, here comes a railroad. What I was *not* expecting was the collection of early telescopes covering several hundred years and the observatory on the fourth floor. Seriously, it's a museum and you need to go to it.

Situated in the picturesque Congaree Vista district of downtown Columbia, SC, this rustic restaurant is dedicated to serving fresh and sustainable seafood as part of the Sustainable Seafood Initiative.
Everything about Pearlz was amazing! Our server was so sweet and kind. Her customer service skills were great. The manager even came to see how our experience was. This place is a 10 out of 10. The food was delicious and the portion side was just right. I highly suggest you try Pearlz Oyster Bar!!

Came here with my family for my sister's birthday. I will say that if you can find street parking, please do it. The nearest paid parking lot was a rip off. lol. Our waitress was amazing. She provided amazing service and we appreciated that. The food was decent but the prices weren't fitting. If the prices weren't up there and the food was more flavorful, I would've given it a higher rating. Kinda borderline over rated because we've had way better food at Red Lobster but whatever. My sister enjoyed her food, and we were given great service so that's what matters to me. If you decide to try them out,

Stopped in while in town on a work trip. The oysters were great and they provided great fixings for them with crackers. Cocktail sauce with extra fresh horseradish to the hot sauces and mignonette sauce. I had also ordered some corn fritters those were just ok. But I definitely recommend the oysters. This place was a nice short walk from my hotel that was on Lady St.

My waiter was absolutely incredible, and as you can see, the food put a big smile on my face. It was my first time at Pearls... and my first time trying oysters, too!

Great oysters!! They provide a list of where the oysters are from and the size. Also a must try is the New England chowder. We went for dinner at 6:30 with reservations and was seated immediately. Very pleasant environment.

Horrible experience. Waitress not trained, manager not present most of night. Homeless person stayed in restroom 30 so minutes, took bird bath in restroom …. manager said they need some place to go, it’s cold out ( 65 degrees ) so we let them use the facilities. I agree with helping and being compassionate but there is a shelter nearby. To spend $230 on dinner and to worry about safety and cleanliness while using restroom was not ideal. I asked my 80 year old mom to hold it until we drove home. Very sorry about number of homeless people but I didn’t think that would be a concern while dining at Pearls. We won’t be back. Very unfortunate the manager cared more about the non paying guests. This kind of mismanagement hurts a good business. This was at 8:00 pm during dinner not odd hours. Still can’t believe that manager cared less about paying customer. Save your money and go where you are appreciated, where managers are present and trained. Tried to leave private message for restaurant hospitality group but they don’t share their address or emails so no choice but to share experience here.

We stopped by for a light bite and to take advantage of the amazing happy hour specials. The trigger fish bites and egg rolls that we tried were both outstanding. Our bartender was fantastic and provided top notch customer service. This spot is a must visit in Columbia!

Our waitress was extraordinary! I left her a good tip! But that food is unseasoned and horrible , and the servings aren’t worth the price! The restaurant was a great atmosphere to be in, with wonderful waitresses, but again that food is NOT the main attraction and i was very disappointed

Thirsty Fellow Pizzeria and Pub is a popular spot in the Vista area, offering a relaxed setting for enjoying stone-fired pizzas, upscale pub food, and a wide selection of beer and wine from lunch until late at night. It's known as a great sports bar with multiple TVs airing ballgames while patrons savor delicious pizzas and drinks. Situated near the Colonial Life Arena, it's become a go-to spot for basketball fans before and after University of South Carolina games.
Philly steak tacos a must! Hoagie sandwich was delicious. Meatball sub was good but meatballs were little on dry side. Good taste over all. Friendly servers.

Thirsty Fellow was pretty good! I'd say the two best things about Thirsty Fellow were definitely the atmosphere, and its proximity to Colonial Life Arena. It's a really convenient place to walk to after a game or event at CLA, and I loved how dimly-lit and relaxed it was, while still maintaining an old-school cool type of feel. As for the food, I'd say that it was "good." My pepperoni pizza and fries were above average, yet nothing particularly special. All-in-all, I would definitely recommend Thirsty Fellow, and I'll definitely be back in the future, probably during football season or after another event at Colonial Life!
John D — Google review
Our waiter was very good. Liked the atmosphere. A local pizza and beer place. A little sticky overall. Salads and sides were solid. Our two pizzas came out the same way - and bit undercooked and definitely very greasy. For convenience to campus and the college scene, it was fine.
Doug R — Google review
Worst bruschetta I've ever had. Really fantastic gorgonzola chips. One drink had no carbonation at all when it should have, while the fall cider was the best. Mixed feelings on this place overall. Might have been an off day.

First time trying this restaurant, managed to grab the last available outdoor table. With any events at the stadium nearby this place is obviously packed before and after. Service was pretty fast and friendly. The indoor area looks much nicer, the outdoor space is definitely convenient, but a bit grungy. Food was ok. The sweet potato fries have cinnamon sprinkled on them which is interesting for the first bite and gets old very fast. The pizza was ok, the crust is the highlight. Would benefit from maybe a bit less cheese. Recommend to have them leave it in a bit longer and ask for it crispy.

A Must-Visit in Columbia, SC – Thirsty Fellow Delivers on All Fronts! If you’re anywhere near Columbia, SC, Thirsty Fellow absolutely needs to be on your food list! The atmosphere was fantastic—spacious indoor seating and a vibrant outdoor patio made for the perfect backdrop to a special day with family and friends. But let’s talk food—wow! The quality was excellent, and the portions were generous to the point of being overwhelming (in the best way). You’ll feel like you’re getting unbelievable value. On our server Skyler’s recommendation (a 3+ year Thirsty Fellow team member), I tried the made-to-order white pizza with mozzarella, caramelized onions, bacon, Peppadew peppers, basil, and a finishing drizzle of truffle oil. It was phenomenal—crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, and the flavor combination was perfect deliciousness. Everyone in our group of 14 loved their food! From the southern BBQ sandwich to the firecracker shrimp, grilled cheese with bacon, salmon salad, meatball sub, and pepperoni pizza, and more- there wasn’t a single miss. Special recognition goes to Skyler, who provided exceptional service with speed, professionalism, and a smile. She kept our large group organized, gave timely check-ins, and made sure everyone got their meals without long waits. Food came out hot and in well-timed back to back waves—no small feat for a group our size. The entire staff worked together seamlessly, creating a smooth and joyful dining experience. Inside the restaurant is a great atmosphere and the restrooms are very clean. This day was especially meaningful as we were celebrating my son’s graduation from boot camp at Ft. Jackson. Thank you, Skyler, and the entire Thirsty Fellow team for contributing to such a memorable evening with flawless service, delicious food, and a fun, relaxed vibe. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Highly Recommend!

Really good pizza! The small is enough for 2 people and really cheap! Super friendly bartenders too. I'm glad I don't live here or I'd weigh 300 lbs from eating their pizza every day!

Even with peppers and spicy oil, our pizza was somehow flavorless. The wings were good and I did enjoyed those. The fried pickles were again flavorless and soggy. You could find them at any fast food place. The guy that was serving us seem disinterested and took too long between drinks apps and the main. Great place to go to watch sports. Good drink selection.

Soda City Market is a vibrant weekend event in the Main Street District of Columbia. It features an array of trendy food trucks and local vendors offering handmade goods. Visitors can explore a variety of offerings, from fresh produce to regional foods and crafts. The market is open every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm, providing an opportunity to indulge in delicious breakfast options at nearby eateries like Drip on Main.
After Kara Chamberlain Robinson posted about this place a few months ago, I saved it on my map to visit one day. Well I decided to take a trip to Columbia for the long weekend. I will say I'm glad I saved this on my map to visit, it was worth it. This market is much larger than I expected. The only issue was too many dogs. Someone allowed their dog to poop and NOT picked it up and everyone was stepping in it. This market would be better if they didn't allow dogs. I felt like I was at a dog market.
Elikapeka — Google review
It was like waking street fair in NYC lots of vendors and live music. My food experience here was terrible guess I have to find the right vendor . Food was priced high had paella seafood in rice it was awful 😫. Salty fishy and costly. They had a car show and the art was just fantastic. There was a young guy there with Lakers painting and just beautiful prints . Did not catch his name but I will return . Parking was good. I would rate five if it weren't for the bad food experience. No Spanish food I would suggest. Stick to other food.
Amanda L — Google review
Soda City Market is always a lot of fun, and is one of my favorite things to do in Columbia! I love getting to know all of the different vendors, and checking out the really cool miscellaneous items that they're selling. Today, I learned that there's a shop in Five Points that sells vintage, 1980s-style clothing, as well as Jamaican, Brazilian, and Belgian-themed restaurants in the city. I never would've known that before going to Soda City. I also got a decent slice of pizza, as well as a solid cup of coffee. And... the dogs! If you're a dog lover, I'm not sure there's a better place on Earth to find some beautiful dogs than Soda City, they were precious! There's really only two (2) downsides to Soda City: the prices are very expensive relative to the quality you're getting. Now, you are supporting local businesses, so I don't mind paying a little bit more for it. However, nearly $20 for a good, but not great, slice of pizza and cup of coffee isn't particularly ideal. Also, there's always very obnoxious religious zealots who either scream into a megaphone, or spout race-based conspiracy theories on the street corner. I don't mind the people who have a booth and welcome you to talk to them, but the ones who scream into their microphones kinda ruin the vibe.
John D — Google review
I love Soda City! There are blocks and blocks of vendors selling so much cool stuff, bands playing, food trucks, a farmers market and vintage clothes! There is truly something for everyone. My favorite is DJ Voodoo child. He is a master at mashups. Anytime I am in Columbia on a Saturday, you will find me here!
Peggy C — Google review
So many vendors offering delicious food, drinks, crafts…. It’s the best market I’ve ever been to.
Jay P — Google review
Lucky to have been visiting when we went. Pride was ongoing and the number of vendors and support vendors were amazing. Lovely people and great food and products.
Ricky M — Google review
I visited the market today for the first time and was really impressed. It has a great vibe with street performers playing instruments right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. There are lots of food stands with tasty options from hearty meals to sweet treats. You can also find many other cool things like fresh flowers honey hot sauce and more. I recommend getting there early the later you go the busier it gets. The market is open every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm.

Soda city has been an amazing addition to my Saturday morning. There is alot of different cultures from foods, natural items, and personal things to buy. Fun place to bring your dog and meet friends listen to music and much more.

The War Mouth, located in the Cottontown neighborhood on North Main, is a beloved dining spot known for its time-honored South Carolina dishes. The menu features whole-hog barbecue, Carolina Gold rice, old-fashioned hash, smoked ribs, catfish stew, and more. Chef Rhett Elliott's culinary expertise shines through in the carefully crafted cocktails and dishes made with local produce and farm-fresh ingredients.
Me and a friend ate at this establishment for the first time. For the appetizer we tried the Shrimp Skewers which were spicy, but very delicious. For the entrée I had the Chicken Bog which was good. My friend had the Fried Catfish which was cooked to perfection, and very fresh! The service and atmosphere was awesome!

Great food such a variety of items. Three of us had something different and all were delicious. Our server was very attentive and knew about the menu and made several recommendations. The night we were there was trivia night and it was a very lively and loud crowd. We dined outside and avoided the noise.

The War Mouth offers a uniquely raw and authentic take on Southern cuisine. Housed in a converted garage in the Cottontown neighborhood, the atmosphere is rustic, loud, and unpretentious. The menu is a celebration of whole-animal butchery and local ingredients, prepared with incredible skill. The hush puppies with cane syrup butter are legendary and for good reason. We shared the family-style plate, which featured slow-smoked pork, collard greens, and cornbread. The flavors were deep, smoky, and complex—this is not your grandmother's cooking, but rather a respectful and innovative evolution of it. The cocktail list is short but brilliant, featuring Southern classics with a twist. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about the food they’re serving. It’s a truly original Columbia experience that pushes boundaries while staying rooted in tradition.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5 We had an incredible meal at Warmouth in Columbia! I ordered the BBQ plate with ribs, and they were absolutely perfect—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. My wife had the fried catfish plate, and it was equally amazing, with a perfectly crispy coating and delicious sides. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Every bite felt like true Southern comfort food done right. We can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu. Highly recommend Warmouth for anyone looking for great food and a fantastic dining experience in Columbia!

This was my first time visiting, and now I'm ashamed . The food here is phenomenal. I tried the catfish and grits and was very satisfied. The service was stellar. I forget our servers name, but they were on point. Also had some hot collard dip that came with pork rinds and homemade saltines, incredible. There's a lot of drinking choices from beer, liquor, wine, non alcoholic. We sat on the outdoor patio, which was really cute with flowers and herbs, and there was a bluegrass band jamming out. I'll definitely come back sooner than later.

We really enjoy The War Mouth. It fits very nicely with the vibe of downtown Columbia. The food isn't cheap, but I've never felt like I was overcharged for what I got. Everything is prepared nicely, and I feel appropriate for the price. The staff is friendly and efficient.

Food I don’t think was worth the price, and maybe that’s on me but I wanted to try things they suggest, deviled eggs are good but I’ve had better and the main dish was unique but again, not much flavor. The coffee cake cheese cake however was amazing! I don’t usually like cheesecake but this was grand. The service was also good, constantly asking me if I needed anything and how things were. Overall, not bad but it was expensive.
Brett H — Google review
I was really disappointed with the food here unfortunately. The menu seems really promising with all the local options, but the chicken wings I had were overcooked and the chicken bog was under seasoned. Huge bummer! The deviled eggs were good though. The waitress was really nice and helped guide me through the menu, also the other patrons were good company. Bummer about the food.

The Grand on Main is a vibrant and spacious venue that used to be an Army/Navy store, now transformed into a grand entertainment space. It features an elegant dining area, a classy bar, and a lounge with games like Jenga. The highlight is the boutique bowling alley at the back. This historic establishment was once a bustling Vaudeville House & Theatre and has preserved its original charm while offering an upscale casual dining experience.
This was a cool spot. Think cozy lounge meets old school bowling alley. It's best to reserve well in advance before the day you want to go. When we went, 3 or 4 of the 7 lanes were out of order, and the rest were already booked up, so we were out of luck. We still stayed and ended up having a delicious meal, so it was worth the trip there. The shrimp and grits was yum yum yummy!

The Grand on Main Street isn't just a place to grab a bite or a drink; it's a consistently great experience. What truly sets it apart is that the food is always good. Seriously, every dish I've tried has been delicious and well-prepared. But beyond the satisfying meals, the staff at The Grand are exceptional. They're attentive, friendly, and genuinely seem to enjoy what they do, which creates such a welcoming atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere, my last visit was particularly memorable. There was a Hennessy special happening, and the representatives there were fantastic! They were so nice and fun to chat with, adding an extra layer of energy to the evening. It was one of those nights that reminded me that the difference between just going to a bar and having a truly good experience often comes down to the people. In this case, a huge thank you goes to Jessica and Chan. Their attentiveness and positive energy really elevated the whole evening. They exemplify the kind of service that makes The Grand a standout spot. They have the indescribable X factor quality that just makes one a winner. Thank you Jessica and Chan!

A fun local spot in the Downtown Columbia area. I’ve enjoyed coming here in the past for group birthday events or just to grab lunch with a friend after exploring the weekend Soda City vendor market. Live music was a little loud but, it was an awesome experience. My husband and I went here for date night and we were not disappointed. We ordered an appetizer of Salmon bites then for dinner we had Salmon with goat cheese (delicious) also, Steak and broccoli. Our entire meat was very tasty and flavorful. The broccoli was steamed and perfectly seasoned, the steak was tender and juicy, and the Salmon was juicy and flaky. All perfectly cooked. Will definitely return here and I recommend you try it. Make sure you make a reservation because if you don’t, the wait can be up to 30 minutes or more.

Took my husband out To dinner last night and beyond please with the meal .. I got the bourbon, barbecue ribs with mashed potato and collard green. The ribs completely fell off the bone , Coded in a sweet savory Mouthwatering sauce. The mashed potatoes were just right not too thick or sappy. The collard greens were a little Too sweet, but I still enjoy them fairly well. My loved his steak . And said he didn’t even needed any A1 sauce to coat it.. The mac & cheese was also a good eight out of 10. I do wish they had more options. As far as a dessert. The only thing that was there was banana pudding, which didn’t seem to go with the vibe of what we had to eat. The scenery was nice despite people that were bowling passing back-and-forth Which made me want to give them a seven out of 10 because it could be distracting. I’ll still Say that The ambience was still a good 9 out of 10 When there weren’t any traffic going back-and-forth in front of our table to the bowling area. Our server I wish I got his name, Very helpful, very manly and definitely got a great tip. Also, my favorite part was that the food took Around 35 minutes it felt like between ordering n coming out .. I was shocked because I’ve never had my food come that quick.. Also be prepared. That parking is a bit difficult with this area and it’s nothing to do with the restaurant. That’s just how it is downtown. Overall, with the ambience food and Servers attitude.. I give the ground on the man a nice 8.5 out of 10. I Definitely recommend this restaurant

The lanes aren't oiled at all and my personal ball got scratched up after only two frames of use. If I hadn't swapped to a house ball after that, I'd be afraid to see how my ball would've turned out. Don't come here if you're looking for a good place to bowl, and definitely don't use your personal bowling ball if you do, go to an actual bowling alley instead. This is a restaurant/bar that just happens to have overpriced poorly maintained bowling lanes. Anchor Lanes is miles better.

We had a 'Cousins' outing here this past Saturday. There were 10 of us. We had a reservation and our table was ready when we arrived. We enjoyed drinks and dinner, then went downstairs to the tikki bar and had more fun. My strawberry lemondrop was very good. The chicken and waffle were good. My chicken was a little dry, but the waffle with the caramel syrup and walnuts was delicious. The cornbread was delicious. The brussel sprouts were good. The shrimp was delicious. The shrimp taco was delicious. We all enjoyed our drinks and food. At the tikki bar, some is our party had the drink named "the s--- that killed John Wick". A drink that serves 5 or 6 people in a bowl. They downed it also in the 8 seconds. we played a drinking game where you had to down your drink in 8. Needless to day we had an absolute blast. I highly recommend The Grand. Vallet parking was offered and was tips only. I would definitely go again.

The entrances to this location from the street and to the bathrooms inside are likely not ADA compliant. There could be buttons to open the main entrance and to open the bathrooms inside. They have shut down multiple times in the last few years and never took advantage of that time to make the location wheelchair accessible. I won’t be back until this is fixed. The handicap section in the downstairs theater is in the absolute front row. Not a good movie going experience.

I'm gonna be 100% honest here, this was my first time watching a film at the Nickelodeon. I've casually stopped by and peeked in while strolling Main Street. Here's the thing, I frequently hit Main Street and wander up/down the street and hit the shops/restaurants/museum/Tapp's but never slowed down to catch a film until yesterday. Instantly, I fell in love with warm, quaint, and welcoming atmosphere of the Nickelodeon. I didn't feel the haste or corporate overhangings of a traditional commercial theater and it felt pretty darn good. The lobby was creatively decorated, staff was beyond personable, and facilities were clean and comfortable. I've kinda gotten used to reclining/heated/cooled seats at the commercial theater but the seating here was quite comfortable without all the fuss. Screen quality and audio were great and I had the most wonderful afternoon spent with a dear friend at the Nickelodeon. I'm finding more and more amazing places in Columbia, some old and some new but all deserve our support!

First time at this theater Downtown in Columbia. Watching "Woman King" and enjoying the the beautifully decorated theater. The staff was friendly and ready to serve. The pictures on the wall are upcoming features. The concession stand had popcorn, nachos , candy and sodas. There are 2 levels available for seating. Tonight my ticket was $11 at the 7 p.m. showing on Tuesday night. The instructions included the following: no talking while the movie was playing, no talking on the cell phone and advise the staff of any problems that caused you not to enjoy the movie.

This was THE BEST place to have my sons birthday party! It is unique, fun, entertaining, and cool. The kids can purchase popcorn and drinks, just like in a movie theater. The gift shop has really cool puppets and marionettes to purchase. You want to take pics of everything. This brings a certain nostalgia back for adults. This is pure, wholesome fun. My son picked the Wizard Of Oz seating for his party. It offers 2 long tables for the kids to sit and a long row of chairs for the adults. You also get an additional table for cake, gifts, etc. All of the parents were impressed 👌🏽! The show itself is amazing. A mixture of cartoon screens, stage props, amazing marionettes, awesome music, and more. The show is very detailed, and it takes a lot of talent to move the marionettes around the way they do. Lyon even took kids backstage after the show to show them how they are operated, made, and used . This was not only fun for everyone but also a unique experience and educational. We saw Hansel & Gretel but will be going back for future shows as well. During the show, when the lights were dim, I looked back, and all I saw were rows of children with big smiles on their face. That is worth everything. Bravo 👏🏽

Went with my daughter and my grandchildren aged 5, 2 and 6 mos. We all enjoyed the presentation and story plot. The kids were amazed and even got to see the workshop and backstage props. Fine dining restaurant
Seafood restaurant
Smoked is a new upscale dining concept by Scott Middleton, located on Main Street in Columbia. The restaurant offers a luxurious ambiance in a restored historic setting and features prime meats, locally sourced produce, fresh seafood, and hand-crafted cocktails. Executive Chef Michael Ellis has curated a menu that includes seafood towers with West Coast and East Coast variations, ribeye steak flights, lamb, pork, and chicken dishes.
We enjoyed the scallops, Wagyu, and lemon parmesan charbroiled oysters. The smoked lamb ribs were tender, but we could not tast the lamb flavor. Carson was a great server. The atmosphere is beautiful.

A unique, upscale place with ample seating and event space. We came with a large group which they did an excellent job accommodating at the last minute (thanks Brianna). The outdoor event space allows for guests to converse and eat/drink in a relaxed environment. The bar space inside is massive and they have a special oyster bar as well. Would love to come back and try the regular menu!

Johnny the bartender was awesome! Gave me some really neat info on Columbia and happenings around the city. Makes an excellent French 75. Most restaurants aren’t open past 2:30 in the city and don’t open until 4 pm for dinner service - but smoked has a limited menu and comes in handy if you are having a late lunch! -Also, their events are always top notch. NYE party was incredible!

Casey was our server Wednesday night. There were 4 of us celebrating our daughters Masters Degree. Casey was delightful. Bar service was slow and Casey worked hard to get our cocktails quickly. The food at Smoked is outstanding. We had a variety of oysters, Tuna Tartar, filet, scallops, and flat iron steak. The mushroom risotto was sublime. We can’t wait to return.

Let me just say that the food was smokin😉. Birthday celebration dinner treat and Smoked did not disappoint. We were seated in the last of the three rooms, which added to the overall ambiance. Enjoyed the experience and will definitely go again.

It was phenomenal. From the time we entered. The lady that sat us to Kendra our server. She was very good. She knew her menu. The restaurant should be happyto have her on their staff.

Stopped by August 7th during First Thursday on Main. I was disappointed to be perfectly honest with you. Poor and slow service. The bread we ordered tasted exactly like those Hawaiian rolls from the supermarket but with plain flavorless whipped butter. At least they could have added a bit of honey to the butter. Smh. It took forever to get our food and the place wasn't packed. The waitress wasn't doing her job. We hardly saw her. As for the meal when we finally got it... Well it was ok. If you would swap the meats on each plate you will have a hit. The herb marinated half chicken would be slammin with the sides and wine reduction sauce that came along with the American Wagyu steak dinner and vice versa. The menu needs an upgraded. Nice atmosphere though. Not sure if I would be coming back anytime soon.

Really lovely small theater - fantastic production and actors, and free popcorn! Definitely a fun time and worth checking out. The entrance feels like you're going in the back door, don't worry.

We had a great time watching Aida. The seats were so comfortable and the cast of the show were great. I highly recommend you check out a show here. A+

Lovely cozy little theater. Went to see Aida, amazing play, main characters, and everyone else absolute amazing performance. Acoustics and lightning were spot on. I sat front row next to a gentleman who said he remembers the theater from at least 30 years ago, he said. So hats off for length of service. The only takeaway really is that it got really hot at times. I could feel the air kicking in from time to time but hot for most of the performance. Made drinking a beer, not such a good idea. And parking, not so great. But it's downtown parking, so...

This theatre has many aspects that I found unique and interesting. It’s very quaint, but also charming with its stage, seating and other architectural decor. The specific musical we saw this past Saturday night was Sweeney Todd, and the acting and overall production was outstanding! I saw the film for the first time this year, and was anticipating seeing this musical in a local setting. All of the cast have excellent voices with dynamic ranges, including the acting performances were captivating and professional. I would highly recommend anyone to buy tickets to one of their upcoming shows and give the experience a try!

What a great time we had last night at the Trustus play The Prom!! I love the atmosphere at Trustus, as well as the welcoming vibes! The play was so well done, the actors were incredible, and the rather controversial story was told with compassion and sensitivity. Trustus plays are my favorite nights out in Columbia!

It's a wonderful and unique experience. The people are quite nice and helpful. Drinks are allowed in the theater, so that was a bonus. The stage is not as large as a couple of others around town, it's incredibly intimate and enjoyable to watch a show there.

Brewery
Food & Drink
Nestled in the vibrant Lower Vista area, Columbia Craft Brewing Company is a must-visit destination for beer enthusiasts. With an impressive selection of 25 beers and seltzers available on tap and in cans, this brewery offers something for everyone. The lively atmosphere is enhanced by fun events like Music Bingo on Wednesdays, making it a great spot to unwind with friends or meet fellow craft beer lovers. The inviting taproom often buzzes with locals sampling flights from the ever-changing draft board.
We really enjoyed our visit to Columbia Craft Brewing Company! I first tried their Famously Hop IPA at a local restaurant and loved it so much that we decided to stop by the brewery the next day. We had a relaxing afternoon sampling the Citrus All-Pro and Alien Hat Strawberry & Guava Sour—honestly, it was hard to pick a favorite, they were all so good! The staff at the taproom were incredibly friendly and welcoming. My teenage son wanted to try the pinball machine but only had dollar bills, and the staff went out of their way to help him break a bill—even checking the tip jar for change so he could play. He had a great time and really enjoyed his orange soda. It’s worth noting they also offer non-alcoholic options and sodas, making it a great spot for families or groups with mixed preferences. A fantastic experience all around!
Elizabeth E — Google review
Columbia Craft was awesome, and was such a fun place to stop in on a Sunday afternoon. It was a very chill and laid-back environment, and the ambiance was unique and playful as well. The two bartenders they had on staff that day were cool, knowledgeable, and welcoming, and were able to guide us through their impressive selection of craft beers. Unfortunately, the rooftop section of the restaurant was closed on the day that I went, but from the outside, it looked like a really neat place to stop in when it is open. They also had a nice outdoor seating area, which appears to be the perfect place to enjoy a beer on a nice, sunny, but not overly hot or humid day. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the Hazy IPAs that me and my friend got were great, and were among the best that I've gotten from any other brewery that I've ever been to. All-in-all, five (5) stars for Columbia Craft, which was a great brewery experience!
John D — Google review
Cool spot and good service, but the most important part is the beer. I didn't really enjoy any of the three I tried. Will try again, maybe just made some poor selections.

Nice little craft brewery with great rooftop and patio vibes. They do offer flights at a reasonable price so you can try several types of beer. They have a good selection of sours as well as different types of beers. Their to go section was decent too. The bartenders were super friendly and a great place to hang/chill.
Tiffany W — Google review
Great local spot to grab a beer. They have a lot of options and it is a great vibe. Would recommend.
James F — Google review
For more than 5 years now, Columbia Craft has had and will continue to have the best beer in Columbia . Five staples now adorn the brew list daily. They have the most medals for winning national competitions locally. The staff is outstanding. The newly opened rooftop is in its first summer of operation, and the outdoor space will be coming soon. The best ipas and sours you will find locally. There's a reason it's so highly rated. Reason 1 the beer. Reason 2 the people. Reason 3 the customers
Allan C — Google review
This is an awesome brewery! The staff was extremely kind and accommodating. The beer was delicious too. They have a great variety, all of which that I tried were really good! They only sell snack-ish food items, but they usually have a food truck right outside.

We came here and didn’t have any expectations. We looked at the menu and ordered dinner and a cocktail. The food was AMAZING!! The atmosphere was very quiet and secluded. We were able to have a good conversation and a great meal. We absolutely will be back.

The view was great, and I really enjoyed the glass windows since it was SO COLD outside. It was a great spot to watch 🎆 fireworks and have some drinks, but the service was extremely slow. I've never waited so long for a drink in my entire life. The second bartender came in and poured our whiskey we asked for over 20 minutes before. I'm in the hospitality business so...I'm very understanding, but wow. There were maybe 10 people in there when we got there on New years Eve. Wasn't busy. Mind you, it was still very early. They lose out on ALOT of money and tips by being so slow and inattentive. It could be a gem. When I told the 3 people at the front desk, they needed help upstairs. (we had one drink and went somewhere else to spend New years due to slow service, and the crowd was getting bigger... yikes. ) they said yeah people like coming here since its one of the only places open (wrong).... it was empty downstairs. If you think this is busy...go to naples florida. Lol, get some better bartender that enjoys getting big tips. The man behind the bar was great. He helped us... and everyone else tremendously. Without him, you would have made no money that night.. I hope he got holiday pay. Other than that it was a great stay. Best Regards
Brittany H — Google review
No cocktail menu? They just tell you they have a full bar and can make whatever. 2 suggested cocktails that are $17 and so didn't take our chances trying to blindly order a cocktail of our choice. No prices on beer and wine.

We had a really nice stay at the Sheraton Hotel. On the top floor, there is a rooftop bar and lounge with awesome views and a really chill atmosphere! We befriended the bartenders, Kendra and Jessica, and had a good time overall. The drinks were delicious and just enough. That rooftop bar has the best views of any hotel in the city. Will definitely be back.
Christine ( — Google review
This is certainly the tallest rooftop bar - the only redeeming quality. It has a roof though so the effect is muted. Food was mid, waited about 1 hr at their busiest. Except the Chicken Club, which was really good. Drinks are the most expensive I’ve had in Columbia. Do yourself favor and walk to one of the other rooftop bars. They are not as tall but the ambience, food, and value are miles above.

I was denied service. I am 22, will be 23 in a month, never been to a bar, as I lived in a small redneck town in Maryland and did not feel safe exploring bars there, being queer and trans. A year ago, I moved to Columbia, SC for college, still a Maryland resident, with a Maryland ID. Now that I have been in the area for a while, and have made friends and peers, I was ready to finally explore local bars. Me and a few friends had planned to karaoke on Thursday, I arrived at 7ish while my friends were running late. With only 2 patrons and a bartender present, I was uncomfortable at the new situation but was ready to learn by asking questions since my friends had yet to arrive. I had wanted to start with something light as I am a small person/light weight and we would have all be there till past 9 when karaoke starts, according to the website. I had started to ask the bartender what the options are, and was openly honest that this was my first time in a bar, in hopes for guidance as this was a brand new experience for me. My mistake. Shouldn't have done that I guess. After answering a few questions about their limited options, they requested my ID. Which I gave over immediately. Now as I previously stated, I have an out-of-state ID, Maryland. My picture is me 5, five, years ago at the lovely age of seventeen, pre-transition. I look nothing like my ID, it's been a running joke at two different jobs. And I knew it would be an issue when going to a bar, which is a partial reason its taken me so long to find the confidence to get out and live and experience a bar or club. Along with my neurodivergence and social anxiety. I was told after they looked at my ID for a very long time that they did not feel comfortable serving me. I understood, thanked them and left without disputing, knowing it wouldn't be worth it. I figured a gay bar, being queer friendly and all would have understood that some patrons don't look anything like they did several years ago. I suppose that was another mistake I made. You ruined my first bar experience. I am IN FACT OVER THE AGE OF TWENTY ONE. So thanks. 0/10 service- I received none. Won't be coming back.
Tanner B — Google review
Very un-inviting and not at all a inclusive space. Came in to enjoy a rainy sunday afternoon in peace because sundays are one of the days they do not have loud music playing or drag shows and i heard they had closed and remodeled.. well boy was i wrong, when i came in sat down to order a drink the bartender asked me if i was there for the drag show? i asked if it was sunday and why there was a show, some sort of member only benefit show. no signs, no post on the website about a private party. very disappointing to crash a private event, i wish they had posted it. not going to try sundays again as these drag shows happen often on sundays said bartender. Walked across the street and i Am now at Art Bar enjoying a chicken sandwich and beer. The bar smelled bad, music was too loud and i am appalled by the lack of organization of events. I don't understand why folks support this messy place. unprofessional and left a bad taste

I Don't Know where to begin, This used to be Columbia's Best Gay Bar i understand why the straight bars are now winning that award instead. The Bathrooms are treacherous, covered in stains, toilets left filled with urine and feces. Covered in flies. Anytime you go to flush a toilet swarm of flies from the inside rim of the toilet will swarm out. Seriously. Expensive Beer Selection, No Corona??? Bare Minimum Happy Hour, No Specialty drinks or cocktails, just beer and liquor. Website hasn't been updated in YEARS social media often post events late or does not post at all. The drag shows are hit or miss, usually the same thing on different day. Only have a DJ on weekends and they play youtube playlist music not a real dj. the club goes quite everytime the song changes... very odd way to spend a night out in columbia... The workers looked like they were more drunk and having more fun than the patrons and customers. I had more fun when i left and went to PT's 1109
Landon C — Google review
This is NOT a welcoming or inclusive space for minorities other than the performers. During karaoke night, I unfortunately witnessed a patron bully a group of ethnically diverse people into getting kicked out of the club; the same patron insinuated that they deserved to be there more than the ethnically diverse group because they were regulars and spent more money. The bartenders were complicit in allowing the aggressive patron to intimidate other patrons and essentially allowed the aggressive patron to call the shots and kick the group out. Karaoke is supposed to be inclusive, fun, and diverse, and the incident I saw made it the opposite.
Artie B — Google review
I recently had an unfortunate experience at this establishment during karaoke night. I witnessed a group of people being kicked out, not for any disruptive behavior, but seemingly because they weren't applauding a female singer who was repeatedly taking the stage. It was disappointing to see that a group of locals, who appeared to frequent the venue and spend money, were able to influence the manager to eject others. Karaoke is meant to be a fun, inclusive activity where everyone should feel welcome, especially at an LGBT establishment that prides itself on acceptance and community. Overall, this incident left a sour taste, as it felt like favoritism and cliquishness overshadowed the welcoming environment that should be the hallmark of any LGBT space. I hope the management reconsiders how they handle such situations in the future to ensure everyone can enjoy their time without fear of being excluded for not participating in a certain way.

I have wanted to visit this place for the longest and finally got the chance to. Great hole in the wall spot for live music and drinks. I only deducted one star because I got the BLT and the bacon to toppings ratio was not good. Extremely thing slices or bacon that couldn’t hardly taste because of the tomatoes and lettuce taking over. I think the chips were homemade and they were absolutely delish. I ended up ordering wings as well and they were very good and cooked to perfection:

Fantastic! Really beautiful space, with easy going and attentive staff. Lots of tempting cocktail and food options. The live jazz (Thursday eve) was SO good. The Aristocrat occupies the location where the Columbia's institution, Kelly's, used to reside. They've cleaned it up and gotten it a lot brighter. Cafe Strudel in West Columbia is a popular and lively cafe and espresso bar that offers an all-day menu featuring their famous hangover hash browns, along with a selection of beer and wine. The cozy atmosphere, adorned with local art, makes it a beloved spot for locals. Their signature brunch dishes like the Hangover Hash Browns have gained them widespread recognition, even being featured in Southern Living.
Traveling thru the area, Cafe Strudel caught my attention for breakfast. Delightful spot where locals & travelers stop to get caffeine, food & caught up on all things local. We did not feel pushed to finish and leave. We would recommend 5+

If you're reading this, just go to Waffle House you'll save money and have better food. The grits are not cooked through. The brisket biscuits are so chewy, you can't chew it. The only thing was good was the fresh squeezed orange juice, I would give this item 5 stars. When we ask to return the biscuit, we had to find our waitress. We also had to ask for butter. It would have been nice to have butter and jam on the table. We wanted jam, but after trying to find our waitress and asking for 2 things, we decided it wasn't worth it to ask for some jam. I'm posting a picture of the uncooked grits, you can tell by the picture. I'm also posting a picture of the receipt, which you can see what this nasty food cost. Also look at how you're supposed to flush the toilet. For the $5 coffee, you have to serve yourself Parking = 1 Star Service = 3 Stars Food = 1 Star Bathroom = 1 Star

For a classic, hearty South Carolina breakfast, Cafe Strudel in West Columbia is the spot. It’s always busy, and for good reason—the food is consistently delicious and the service is lightning-fast. The star of the show is undoubtedly the "Hangover Hashbrowns": a massive plate of crispy hashbrowns topped with cheese, tomatoes, onions, and your choice of meat, all smothered in their signature spicy cheese sauce. It’s the ultimate comfort food. Their Benedicts are also excellent, and they have a great selection of pancakes and waffles. The coffee is strong and bottomless. The atmosphere is casual and friendly, a true local gathering place. Whether you’re curing a actual hangover or just craving a massive, satisfying breakfast, Cafe Strudel delivers every time.

The self-proclaimed "Frenchish" spot offers traditional French cuisine like quiche, croque monsieur, tuna tartare, and mussels. The menu features shareable plates and main courses catering to vegetarians, pescatarians, and carnivores. Indulge in half a dozen oysters before your main course.
Ventured across the river and Found Free parking near by. I went to the roof top To check out the views and service was super friendly. She gave me some great recommendations and provided great service. I started with the Hugo on the rocks and enjoyed the pear flavor although I prefer real glass over plastic. The beet salad was the highlight of my meal. I enjoyed it throughly and it was so simple. The dressing doesn’t overpower the dish, instead I felt like it accentuated the flavors. The pistachios added a hint of sweetness snd a delightful crunch. I also had the whipped feta and I couldn’t decide if I enjoyed the bread or the cheese more. Delightful experience.

I recently dined solo here, and the service was easily the highlight of the experience. My server had a great attitude, was attentive, and made sure I was well taken care of. The space itself felt a bit cramped, the downstairs dining area could definitely benefit from a more open and refined layout. I initially ordered the Caesar salad, but the lettuce was wilted, likely from sitting under a heat source or soaking too long in dressing. Fortunately, the server was quick to remake it without hesitation, which I really appreciated. For drinks, the Hugo Spritz was refreshing and well-balanced. The Chrysalis cocktail, however, had an unpleasant chemical taste, almost like tire rubber, definitely a miss. I also tried the bolognese, which was pretty good. The noodles were slightly overcooked, but overall the flavor profile was very nice. Overall, the service was excellent and genuinely improved the experience, the food and atmosphere didn’t quite meet my expectations but I’ll try anything at least three times.

If you were looking at the menu, reviews and/or pictures and wondering if they have good food.. the answer is YES. The burger & fries ….. Please, do yourself a favor. GET IT! I do believe that this may be the absolute BEST burger/fry combination I’ve ever had! And honestly (I’m not a burger girl!) The cheese, the caramelized onions.. worth every calorie. The service was incredible! Grace was so sweet & attentive my entire visit. She played with babies, stood and listened while I talked her head off. The drinks were perfectly made. Don’t even get me started on THE PLAYLIST. I individually downloaded every single song. Then, to top it all off, the chocolate, strawberry dessert with mascarpone was absolute perfection! This is now my favorite place in Columbia. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Had a nice dinner at Black Rooster. The staff was friendly. Had the Burrata to start - the meal was a good refresher but the Burrata could be of better quality. The main meals were equally tasty. The food preparation was timely! Would return.

Wife and I went just to try the place. We went to the roof top to get away from street noise. We started with drinks which unfortunately were very watered down. We then ordered the brisket burger and pasta. The brisket burger had no trditional brisket but supposedly had brisket mixed with the hamburger. We both love brisket and regularly smoke our own. Raw beef that could to used to make brisket is NOT brisket. Anyone that tell you different needs to return to culinary school. As expected it tasted like a cheap, very overcooked burger to us. Add insult to injury the fries the accompanied the hamburger were delivered cold. The pasta was under cooked far beyond Al dente and the rest of the dish was just as unremarkable as the mixed drinks. The menu promised elevated cuisine but delivered less than we have had a decent local restaurants for half the price. Based on our experience we cannot recommend this establishment.

Hubs and I went for birthday celebration and sat on the rooftop. Bar service only up there but it's no problem - order and pay at the bar and servers serve as usual. This Sicilian was blown away by the food, from apps to entrees to desserts. The rooftop is fun and servers were terrific. 10/10 will go again!

Switching from French cuisine to Italian was a smart move. My husband celebrated his birthday here and it was a really nice experience. I made reservations and let the staff know ahead of time that it was his birthday. Not to mention the hostesses were the sweetest young ladies ever and I hate I forgot to ask their names again before we left. Drew, our server was the absolute best! He was friendly, attentive, and not overbearing or bothersome. We started off with an awesome sparking water and antipasti charcuterie board and escargot. For our main dishes hubby had the scallops and pasta (sorry forgot the name) and I had soft shell crab. Both of these dishes were amazing. To end the night, Drew brought out the ricotta cake with berry sorbet and WOW that was good too. The entire experience from door to table was exceptional. The only thing I’d change is changing the bread to having crackers as a choice when serving the cheese or antipasti board. If it’s not raining , hit the rooftop, it’s beautiful up there. We spent over $100 without any alcohol.

Savage Craft Ale Works, a veteran-owned establishment in West Columbia, offers a modern outdoor setting where visitors can savor excellent brews under the Carolina blue skies. Whether you opt for the rooftop patio, front lawn, or back yard space, there are diverse experiences to be had at this tap house. On Sundays, guests can also indulge in a unique brunch experience.
Savage Craft Ale Works West Columbia, SC Visited: April 12, 2025 Occasion: Casual night out Savage Craft Ale Works is a unique gem tucked into West Columbia, combining a great craft beer experience with rich local history. The venue itself is impressive—it’s made up of two beautifully renovated historic buildings: the former Brookland Fire Station & City Hall and the old New Brookland Jail, dating back to around 1908. The space spans three stories, each with its own vibe. We tried the Canopy Surfer Sour Rainbow Sherbet and the Blueberry Cider—both were fantastic and full of flavor. Their drink menu offers a great mix, whether you’re into sours, ciders, or classic ales. The main floor features indoor seating, a full bar and menu, and a large outdoor area that’s both family- and pet-friendly. We enjoyed live music outside while still being able to hold a conversation, thanks to the well-balanced sound throughout the venue. The second floor was open but seemed reserved for private events or special occasions. The rooftop bar, open to those 21+, offered a lively atmosphere with music and full service as well. Outdoor spaces were cozy and inviting with firepits and soft lighting, making it a perfect spot to unwind. The service was friendly, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. There’s free parking available off Meeting Street and a spacious elevator that services all floors, which is great for accessibility. No complaints here—we’ll definitely be back!

Savage Craft is a really cool brewery, arguably the best in Columbia! Now, I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't comment on the quality of their brews. However, my cocktail was pretty good, albeit a little expensive, and their selection of drinks was expansive as compared to other breweries. The inside of the establishment was decked out with some really cool artwork, and the inside was very spacious, sleek, and modern. My favorite part of Savage Craft was the outside lawn area, which was situated on artificial grass and had a lot of tables that you could sit at. It seems like the perfect place to either grab a drink with friends, or unwind by yourself. Also, I can't wait to bring my dog back in the future! All-in-all, Savage Craft was a really cool place, and I'll be back in the future!

Awesome space, absolutely massive outdoor seating area with large picnic tables. Only tried two beers, both were excellent. Food wise, the burger and hummus were both very good, no complaints. Will return for sure, definitely recommended place to get a beer.

Confusing for us middle-aged, but in sure it fit perfectly for the millennial people. Order food there, order drinks next door.... eating outside, fighting flies... but like I said the millennial group wouldn't mind.... was a bad sewer lift station smell in the area on the third floor. Savage ribs had no flavor... good idea but needed real flavor... fish tacos was like eating stuffed flour tortillas.... no flavor... nice looking atmosphere though

This is a really cool brewery. Huge outdoor space with lots of tables and a stage for live music. They have a rooftop area as well and great food. Been several times and they never disappoint. Definitely recommend when you're in the Columbia area.

I had a great time trying out their blueberry beer. It was delicious and had a unique flavor that I really enjoyed. The atmosphere of the bar was cozy and inviting, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. In addition to the beer, I also tried their tacos and they were absolutely fantastic. The flavors were bold and the presentation was beautiful. The food was fresh and made with high-quality ingredients, which really elevated the overall dining experience. Overall, I had a wonderful time at Savage Craft Ale Works and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for great beer and delicious food. I can't wait to go back and try more of their offerings in the future.

Terra is a bistro with a Southern-leaning menu and skyline views. It offers a romantic atmosphere for couples and friends to enjoy. The restaurant's provisions are sourced from local farmers, ensuring fresh and high-quality ingredients. A wine distributor recommended Terra as a romantic Valentine's Day choice due to its world-class chef, farm-to-table food experience, and beautiful ambiance. The name 'Terra' means earth, symbolizing the grounded and lasting nature of relationships.
Terra was amazing. We had a large group and everyone raved about their meals. Meals we ordered and loved were the Steak Frites, Korean Short Rib Lettuce Wraps, and Chinese Braised Pork Belly. I got the Crispy Eggplant and it was phenomenal. It was actually crispy and not soggy. Desserts we chose were peanut butter pie with a lovely toasted marshmallow topping, a banana bread cake with ice cream and a cookie with Maker’s Mark ice cream. They had some very unusual ice cream flavors and dessert options. Several agreed they were all delicious, but the peanut butter pie was the best. The drink menu was also quite varied. The servers were exceptional and the atmosphere was comfortable yet elegant. If you’re in the Vista area of Columbia, you need to plan a meal at Terra. (I have no pics of the food. We all just dug in)

The lamb mac n cheese was absolutely AMAZING. Filipino chicken dumplings were also tasty. Our entrees, pan-seared flounder and spring lamb were superb! And the service was excellent! Highly recommended for a date night or double date!

Pleasant early Father’s Day dinner at this fine restaurant. The cocktails were excellent. We were a party of five. The lamb Mac was a group favorite; everyone enjoyed it. The house salad with goat cheese was also good. Two orders of the ribeye steak and fries were brought to our table. Perfect medium rare with excellent fries. My scallops were perfect. The lamb entree was also very good. The one thing I would like to add, apart from the excellent food was the time given to us at the table to talk and enjoy the atmosphere between drinks, appetizers, entrees and dessert. I was pleasantly surprised that we were not “rushed” out in any way. You don’t see that in many restaurants in the US. I will be returning, for sure

Nice Columbia restaurant. I've only been here a handful of times over the past ten years, but I've not been disappointed. The service is excellent. The drink selection is excellent. The food is great. If your are an amari fan, this place has a good selection - possibly the best I've found in the city. This is not a weekly date place for us (due to the price), but it fits the bill for an occasional special date option

I can not say enough thank yous to the Terra team. I had a last minute event come up for about 20-25 people that I needed and event space for. I sent an email via the Terra website explaining what type of event I was having and the number of quests and within the hour I received a response! Mike Lee and his team did PHENOMENAL! They were absolutely attentive and stayed in contact with me not only during the process but also the night of. They made sure that guest were aware of their tabs and the stipulation I had set in place in terms of beverages. I would like to also shout out Kathryn T. It is evident that when there is a great leader present (Mike Lee) employees are also amazing. Kathryn and Mike were both so patient and kind. When I walked in I needed to rearrange some tables in the event space and without a question Kathryn fixed the tables as I needed.Kathryn went ABOVE and BEYOND the night of the event as a server. I was slightly stressed about having to plan such a last minute event (about a week and half time to plan) and Mike Lee, Kathryn and everyone else on the Terra team made that night so beautiful and everything ran so smoothly I had no stress at all. Also, there is complimentary vallet which was also amazing as my guests did not have to worry about finding a parking spot. I look forward to doing business again in the near future with Mike Lee and the Terra team. Thank you all for your phenomenal service, kindness, patience and every other good thing you do and continue to do!

My partner and I just left this restaurant and I wanted to share our experience because we were looking forward to this and we left very disappointed. I want to start out by saying this was not a horrible experience, the atmosphere and ambience was very romantic and relaxing and the wine was exceptional, what was lacking was in the food and service. I had the scallops and he had the pork chop, all i could taste was salt in my food and his pork chop was unevenly cooked with parts of his pork chop being rare, medium, and well done/ dry. The service felt inattentive and we were there to celebrate my partners graduation and the experience felt unsatisfactory and was not worth the money we spent. We had a gift card that took 100 off and i still feel like we spent more money than what we got.

Transmission Arcade, located on Main Street, offers a nostalgic experience with classic arcade games like pinball and skee-ball. However, the real highlight is the food, curated by local favorite Smokey Loggins and featuring their famous smoked wings. The well-maintained games are reasonably priced and provide a great time for visitors. The bar also offers a variety of delicious options including smoked wings and Bahn Mi Wrap with '5-spice rib'.
Transmission is such a cool place! It's barely noticeable from the outside, but once I stepped inside, I was instantly amazed at how unique and colorful the inside was! The chicken tenders and fries were great, and the drinks were affordable as well. The bartenders were all really cool, and the clientele was very nice and welcoming! I didn't play any of the games this time, but everybody who was looked like they were having a great time! I would highly recommend Transmission, and I will certainly be back soon!

Transmission Arcade & Bar in downtown Columbia is the perfect blend of nostalgia and nightlife. Walking in feels like stepping into your childhood—only now, there’s a killer cocktail in hand. The walls hum with old-school arcade classics, while the energy is electric with laughter, friendly competition, and great music. What sets this place apart is that it’s not just about the games. The food is shockingly good—think comfort food with a creative twist. The smash burger is a must, and the loaded fries are next-level. The bartenders know their stuff too, serving up craft beers and cocktails that rival any upscale bar in town. Whether you’re coming for a throwback game night, a casual date, or just to unwind with friends, Transmission delivers a vibe that’s both laid-back and unforgettable. It’s Columbia’s hidden gem where fun and flavor collide.

Great food, atmosphere, staff. Can watch a niche sports game on the TV, play a rare pinball or arcade machine, brunch runs late, they're open late every day, menu consists of bangers from top to bottom with rotating specials. Big supporter of the local arts community and a welcome environment to all races, creeds, genders, and colors. Except for objectively horrible people who do irreversible damage to our society and the people who support them. Those people should not come in. Also, don't mess up the wall art in the restrooms, dummies.

First time here, it’s a hidden gem in Columbia. A wonderful experience inside and out. They have different food trucks that are on point! I’m here on a Tuesday and they have a Mexican type of food truck, being from Los Angeles I can tell you it’s amazing and the closest you can be to the west coast food. If I could give it 0 stars for the bartender pictured I would. I’ve been here numerous times and never had this experience. Every other experience was very pleasant but tonight was unacceptable. We sat on the bar for at least 10 mins while this bartender ignored us. To be clear, there was only one woman standing in front of her who she served and then walked away. We sat exactly where she was standing, which means we were directly in front of the bartender and watched her serve 2 people while never being acknowledged. We were sitting in the middle of the bar, how did you not see us!!! I tried to get her attention and she still ignored us, until finally she looked over and I asked her if she saw us. She said she didn’t see and then said “and I’m not serving you, you can leave”. So I asked her where is her manager and she said “I am the manager”. To even avoid any further disturbances to the great vibe and music in the establishment, we left. I will never return because of the bartender pictured. And please roll the cameras back to see exactly what took place. Took place on 03/22, approx 11:30p-11:55p!!!!!!!! Totally disgusting. While we were walking out she yelled “BYE”. If she is the manager, this is a disgrace to such a beautiful establishment with great musicians!
K S — Google review
The Joint isn't just a jazz club, it's the perfect, intimate epilogue to our date nights. It's become our cherished tradition, and honestly, the best way to let the evening's magic linger. From the moment you step in, the atmosphere is pure, unpretentious romance. It's wonderfully small and intimate, making every note from the stage feel like it's played just for you. Our order is always the same, a dirty martini for me and a Bud Light for my love (a perfect, happily mismatched pairing, just like us!). But the real draw is the live music, which is consistently an absolute treat. On our last visit, the blues band had me utterly captivated. Closing my eyes, I could feel the music in my soul, it was the kind of deep, soulful sound that makes you want to slow drag and let the rhythm take you completely away. It's truly a place where you can feel the heart of the music. If you're looking for an authentic, cozy spot with fantastic live acts and the perfect vibe to end a night with your love, look no further than The Joint. It’s a gem.

Cannot say how amazed I was to show up, and this place had screens, allowing me to keep up with the score of the NBA playoffs game. Besides that, the live music was great, allowing for a fun, energetic vibe. You could not be here and not appreciate the live music. The food was also good. Getting there and realizing it was in fact a bar, I did not expect the portion size of the food we ordered. Again, another pleasant surprise. We enjoyed The Joint. Fun times.

Decided to stop on our stroll downtown. Wasn't that busy. Love the music choice. Ordered burger and fries, took a minute considering how empty it was. Food.was delicious. Ordered the champagne. Bar None, a popular bar in Colatown, is a beloved establishment that caters to the late-night crowd. Originally from Nebraska, Marty Dreesen has created a casual and welcoming haven for generations of patrons. Open from happy hour until sunrise, this neighborhood bar offers an impressive selection of beers on tap and serves food into the wee hours of the morning. On certain Tuesdays, they even offer delicious smoked chicken wings that are highly regarded by customers.
The staff here is amazing and genuinely cares about patrons. Willy, Jordan, Kevin, and Tony have all proven to care about safety for women, and the atmosphere in the bar is friendly and fun. They have good drinks, amazing food, and even shuffleboard! If you want a relaxing night out with a few drinks, this is the place!
Alain K — Google review
Bar None's a cool bar, but you have to have the right mindset and expectations. There's been a few times that I've gone on a Friday or Saturday night and been disappointed, but I recently went during the week and had a great time. I asked what kind of seltzers they had, and after not being satisfied with the selection of flavors, the bartender offered to make me a comparable drink, which ended up being really good! In addition, the food is mainly just your basic bar food, but was actually really good! The chicken tenders and fries were solid, but the mozzarella sticks were great! The bartender (I wish I could remember his name) was really cool, and I was able to strike up a nice conversation with some other patrons. All-in-all, the best way to describe Bar None is that it's a great Sunday-Thursday bar, but maybe not the exciting bar you're looking for on a Friday or Saturday night. As such, would recommend!

This may sound petty, but my heart is broken :[ First time I have ever had an issue getting in, been to this place tons of times in the past. Guy checking IDs outside let all my friends in except me. All because there was a "different start of numbers on the back of the ID" that he had apparently "never seen, ever" he then asked another employee who said "I would let them in" the man still chose to deny me entry, all because I had an older ID. Never had a problem until now. A terrible night as well, i did not get to say goodbye to my 2 year coworker; before she moves to a different state. So, to the person who denied my entry. Maybe don't seek out to ruin someone's night.

Change is inevitable. But every so often you find something that rolls with the times but still manages to feel the same, and familiar. Bar None is that kind of bar. It's kind of exactly what you want in a local neighborhood bar. It doesn't cater to any one crowd, and even though it's in Five Points, don't think that it's a "College bar." It's just a bar. The food is good (best fried mushrooms in Columbia, actually), they have a good selection of beer including local stuff (try Hunter Gather's ESB, it's a staple), they know how to mix a decent drink and the service is prompt and friendly. The TVs are there but they're not obnoxious so it doesn't feel like a sports bar. The decor is eclectic but not like it's trying too hard. And it has a great shuffle board table. The place just feels right.

Hunter-Gatherer Brewery/Taproom is a beloved brewpub in the state, known for its diverse customer base and lineup of English ale styles with some west coast influences. The ESB is a standout brew, alongside Pale Ale, Wheat Ale, and seasonal options. The downtown location offers an extensive array of house-brewed English-style ales and guest taps, paired with an elevated menu.
The Hunter-Gatherer was AWESOME! Columbia has quite a few great breweries, but Hunter-Gatherer is right up there with all of them! First and foremost, the ambiance is so cool! It's in an old airport hangar, so it's plenty spacious, and they lean into the history of the hanger with some really cool contemporary artwork of airplanes, pilots, and helicopters. One of my friends is a pilot, and he loved looking at all of the different art pieces they had. I also loved the set-up, with the empty barrels and brewing equipment in plain view. In terms of their brews, they were immaculate as well. I tried a few different ones, all of which were great, but settled on the Grapefruit IPA, which is one of my favorite IPAs that I've ever tasted. Some of their other great ones were the Galaxy IPA, the Hazy IPA, and the English Pale Ale. With regard to their food, the pizza was absolutely DELICIOUS. It was baked to perfection, tasted amazing, and was the exact amount of crispy without tasting burnt. My guests said that they enjoyed their salads as well. Finally, the entire staff was super sweet, and made me feel welcomed the whole time. They chatted with me, provided me samples, and generally made me want to come back time and time again. Overall, I can't say enough good things about the Hunter-Gatherer, and it's now one of my favorite spots in Columbia!

Nice battery brewery with small menu of traditional bar food. Wide selection of beers that is updated regularly. Not a huge selection of food, but the pizza I ordered was fairly large and tasted like pizza. A lot of space to sit so large groups can be accommodated, including both indoors and outdoors. The building is an old airplane hanger and includes a large amount of brewing equipment which is really cool to see. A great spot to hang out and drink with friends.

The place with its history is awesome, the beer is tasty, but the service kinda sucked. The bartenders didn’t seem to enjoy their jobs..at all. We greeted them with excitement just to be met with disappointment. My girlfriend wanted to tip 15%, but I insisted on 20% because I’m in the industry. I honestly wish I let her tip the 15% percent though, because she was right.. They literally did nothing besides pour our beer. When we were trying to decide they didn’t offer any suggestions or samples..until we asked. There were no smiles, no suggestions, no nothing. They honestly kind of seemed annoyed.. So yeah, work on the staff and your place is awesome!

A great spot for drinks and socializing! The ambiance here is fantastic, creating a welcoming and lively atmosphere. The bartenders are skilled and attentive, making the experience even better. The beer selection is delicious, though the food doesn’t quite meet the same standard. Overall, it’s an excellent place for gathering with friends and enjoying great drinks.

Fantastic location in an old airplane hangar! They have a wide selection of good brews. We enjoyed the raspberry sour, west coast IPA, and ESB. The real star of the show is the food. The pizzas are delicious, the brat was a quality sausage on a really good bun and the pulled pork was really good as well.

Hunter-Gatherer at the Curtiss-Wright Hangar is arguably the most unique brewery experience in South Carolina. The setting is incredible—a massive, historic aircraft hangar with high ceilings, original beams, and a rustic, cavernous feel. They brew all their beer on-site, and their focus on traditional English and German styles is a refreshing change. The Kellerbier is a standout—unfiltered, crisp, and incredibly drinkable. The atmosphere is laid-back and family-friendly, with plenty of space to spread out. They often have live music or trivia nights, which adds to the community feel. The food is simple and good, with pizzas and pretzels that pair perfectly with the beer. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable about the brewing process. Sitting outside on their patio on a cool evening, looking at the old hangar, is a truly special Columbia experience. It’s a must-visit for history buffs and beer lovers alike.

I really liked the environment, it is nice and calm and the people are very friendly. I had a great waitor as well. The only thing is the pizza was a bit sloppy, i loved it otherwise but it all kinda slid off when i picked it up. I recommend this place as it is right outside a park as well!

Great brewery in an historic location with plenty of parking. We had a large group (about 20) meeting up on a Saturday night about 7, and were able to hold down a large table, order plenty of beer and sample the delicious variety of pizza. The upstairs balcony is delightful ambiance for a date or quiet conversation, and would make for great pictures. Friendly staff; highly recommend.

Nestled in the heart of The Vista, Nonnah's is a beloved cafe and bakery offering classic American meals, coffee, wine, and a selection of local art. It's a popular spot for romantic dates, where patrons can indulge in decadent desserts or opt for a full dining experience. With an 80-seat listening lounge hosting live jazz shows featuring local and national talent, Nonnah's provides an intimate setting for music enthusiasts.
Wife and I went on a Saturday night. Not at all packed so we were seated right away. Service was prompt and food was delicious. Salmon was tasty and the Shrimp and Grits was a nice, large portion. Excellent selection of desserts as well.

We ate at Nonnah’s for lunch and really enjoyed it. I had the pimento cheese sandwich on a croissant which was so good and my husband got the half turkey sandwich and bowl of black bean soup. I wish we would have had room for dessert - they sounded amazing!

I love desserts but this place is overrated, overpriced, and not impressive at all. I ordered the raspberry cheesecake and lemon cake. First off both of these deserts were almost 9$. The lemon cake was a big size. It looked good but it was dry and tasted old. The icing was good but I’ve had much better even from a grocery store deli. The cheesecake was the biggest disappointment. The serving size was a little bigger than a plastic fork. The raspberry drizzle was nothing special and honestly it was more tart than it should be on a desert and resembles cheap artificial flavoring. The cheesecake was edible but I’ve had better from a Chick-fil-A drive thru and for the price was a huge waste. I would never recommend this place for dessert. Pic is of raspberry cheesecake that’s $8.50

Took longer than necessary to be seated. The table seated after us had their server before we did. Our coffee arrived COLD. The chocolate temptation was nothing special and the half hazardly thrown on white chocolate tasted weird. I could see the entire stomach of one server which i think is unprofessional and probably against some kind of health code. The menu looked like it had some decent lunch options so we may give it one more try but as far as desserts go I don't think I'll be giving it any more chances.

Had the chocolate temptation, turtle cheesecake and apple pie. All extremely amazing. Awesome service as well.

Noonah's has been the spot for dessert in Columbia since before we called it soda city. Not much you can say except stear clear from the "dessert" place across the street.

Food was great but the waitress was very inattentive. Update: Much better experience. Great place again. Lol

Our son and his fiance were married New Year's Eve in the Planetarium at the State Museum. We had the Rehearsal Dinner and Welcome Cocktail Party at Nonnah's the evening before. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the entire experience from start to finish. Maggie, the General Manager, was awesome and guided me throughout the process in choosing the menu for dinner and the appetizers for the Welcome Cocktail Party. Her help was invaluable!!!! Our bartenders and servers were totally awesome as well! Now to the food -- The food was FABULOUS! Best Shrimp and Grits I think I've ever had! Those who had the Pork Chop and the Vegetarian dish also raved about their food. And the desserts -- Well, they are the best!! The atmosphere was absolutely perfect! We dined in the "twinkly lights room" and moved to the Bar area for the Welcome Cocktail Party. It was a magical evening, and we could not have been more pleased with the entire Nonnah's experience!!!!! Would highly recommend having your event there. Maggie "knows her stuff" and everything was so beautiful, and she was so accommodating!!

Overall the festival was good. It was family friendly and had a variety of vendors. But again this year the parade started 45 minutes late from the time that was posted of 12:00 pm and suddenly in the middle of the parade starting on Richland St it was abruptly moved to Laurel St to Sumter St. Last year there was a 2 hour delay.

Went to the Harry Potter Return to Hogwarts show and it was awesome, a lot of people dressed up in their robes and they even had an owl in the lobby! Wish I had dressed up, maybe next year.

I appreciate the creativity that Morihiko Nakahara, the conductor, shows in leading the orchestra. The music is mentally stimulating and at times soothing to my soul :). My brother plays percussion with them. It's a special treat to listen to their music!
