Cusco in 3 days

If you only have 3 days to spend in Cusco, we’ve narrowed down the top places you should check out to get the best experience of your time here.
Cusco or Cuzco is the heart of the ancient Inca empire. The Peruvian city is a blend of cultures, colonial history, and Andean tradition. The city center is a popular destination on its own—it was built by Spanish conquistadors in the 15th century. Inca structures, such as the famous Plaza de Armas, have been remarkably preserved. Archaeological sites on the Inca Trail and at Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley are within a day's trip.
With favorites like Inkazuela, Organika Restaurant, and Regional Historical Museum of Cusco, we’ll make sure you don’t miss out on all the must sees. We even included some of our favorite food spots around the area, like Ceviche Seafood Kitchen and Cervecería Del Valle Sagrado Cusco Centro so you can get the best taste of Cusco while you’re here. To see our full list of food recommendations, check out our best restaurants post. If you're traveling on a budget, you can check out our cheap eats post.

Plaza Mayor de Cusco, also known as Plaza de Armas, is a vibrant urban hub featuring colonial arcades, a cathedral, gardens, and a central fountain. It serves as the starting point for exploring major Cusco attractions such as Qoricancha and La Catedral. Visitors can immerse themselves in the city's culture by browsing through various shops and markets along the way. The square also hosts religious and cultural celebrations with music and dancing filling the streets.
Beautiful large square with old colonial vibes where you can find good restaurants, tour agencies and shops. It's the touristic center of the city and busy from day to night. Moreover, we always felt safe and at ease wandering around.
Konstantinos K — Google review
Plaza de Armas is the vibrant centerpiece of Cusco, surrounded by stunning colonial architecture and historic churches, including the Cusco Cathedral and the Church of La Compañía de Jesús. The square is always bustling with locals, tourists, and street performers, creating a lively atmosphere that reflects the city’s rich culture and history. It’s an ideal spot to enjoy a coffee at one of the nearby cafes, shop for local crafts, or simply watch the world go by. The views of the surrounding Incan and colonial buildings make it a photographer’s paradise, and it’s also the starting point for many walking tours around Cusco. Overall, Plaza de Armas is a must-visit landmark in Cusco, offering a perfect mix of history, culture, and vibrant city life.
Purba D — Google review
Hi there Plaza de Armas is the beating heart of Cusco — vibrant, historic, and full of life day and night. Surrounded by stunning colonial architecture and the majestic cathedral, it’s the perfect spot to feel the city’s rhythm. You can sit on a bench and people-watch for hours, enjoy a pisco sour on one of the balconies, or just take in the mountain air and lively energy. Musicians, locals, and travelers all mix together here, giving it that timeless Andean charm. Don't go for the day trips they sell here, not of those are just typical holiday scheme sales trips. A must-visit — day for history, night for magic.

Beautiful city center full of life and great energy! The historic center of Cusco is absolutely charming — the atmosphere is vibrant, and every street feels alive with culture and history. The colonial buildings, stone streets, and local markets create a magical vibe. It’s a perfect place to walk around, enjoy the beautiful architecture, meet friendly people, and feel the unique energy of this ancient Inca capital. Day or night, the Plaza de Armas is always full of good vibes and unforgettable moments !
Aymen C — Google review
The main plaza in Cusco. There is always something to do here even if itbis just watching the people. Seems to be a little bit more lively at night then the day. On one end of the square is the church of the society of christ. On anthother side is the cusco catherdal. The other two sides have shops entries. Amazing architectural all around. Flowers trees and a fountain in the center. The day i went theyvhad free musical entertainment.
Craig B — Google review
Oct25- Cusco Plaza has restaurants, pubs, shops and historic cathedral and churches. Local hawker's and bargains as well as high end. The views at night with Cusco lighting up like Christmas lights is wonderful to see. Noises and smells and lovely.
D Y — Google review
Very nice plaza with the cathedral. Another interesting buildings surrounding it. They had some community show going on one night as well
Boyd E — Google review
Beautiful, historical area with amazing architecture. A lot of tourists and a lot of independent local street vendors trying to sell you anything from key chains to paintings to tours every ten steps you take. You seriously can not just sit and relax for over five minutes. You'll end up there no matter what if you're in Cusco and I still recommend it.

The Twelve Angled Stone, located in Cusco, Peru, is a remarkable example of Inca masonry. This legendary stone is part of a wall built by the Inca Pachacuti and showcases their advanced stone-cutting techniques. What makes it special is its perfect finish and precisely interlocking surface with twelve angles that fit seamlessly without mortar.
A commercial and very busy tourist place. Excursion groups are taken here to show huge stones, laid in a typical Inca culture without cement and very smoothly hewn. The height and power of these stones on both sides of the road are impressive. There are many souvenir shops, massage and cafes nearby.
Helen P — Google review
An amazing place to visit. Will blow your mind!!!
S E — Google review
Its just another rock in a wall....or is it not? Maybe this stone is so unique it deserves all the legends and should have a Hollywood movie about it.
J. S — Google review
An interesting bit of Inca history that you can get right up close to in the city. Be prepared for a lot of tourists and you’ll be pitched to be restaurants and vendors in this area.
Our F — Google review
This stone is a genuine architectural wonder and an essential stop in Cusco. Located on the wall of Hatun Rumiyoq, it perfectly showcases the precision and skill of Inca masonry. The fact that this single stone has twelve perfectly cut angles that flawlessly interlock with the surrounding stones, all without mortar, is absolutely astounding. It's a powerful reminder of how advanced the Inca civilization was. The wall has survived countless earthquakes, proving its structural brilliance. It is always busy with tourists, but take a moment to really examine its perfection—it's worth the wait!
Michal R — Google review
It's cool, the fact that it was done so long ago is impressive, but in the end it's just a wall, not worth a special trip. It is right in the middle of the shopping section, so easy to find and worth visiting if you are already there.
Zach Z — Google review
Hard to believe how they did that! It is a public space, no need to purchase tickets but you need patience to be able to take a picture since it can be crowded.

Cathedral
Catholic church
Cusco Cathedral, constructed in the 16th and 17th centuries, is a grand structure adorned with colonial paintings. The cathedral was built over many years by various architects and masters, using stones from the Sacsayhuaman complex. It houses impressive pieces of art including 256 silver items and a silver monstrance embellished with pearls, rubies, amethysts, sapphires, and topazes.
If you’re visiting this cathedral you might as well pay 2.5 euro extra to visit San Cristobal and the archbishop’s museum, the inca museum and some other places. The former has a bell tower with a nice view of Cusco and the latter has quite a few impressive pieces of art. No pictures allowed here.
Bruno V — Google review
Nice church but the unique thing to see here is the last supper painting depicting cuy (guinea pig) as the main course, a one of a kind treasure by Marcos Zapata..

A catherdal built in the 16th century though it was restored after the 1671 earthquake. It has many paintings throughout. Crypts can be found inside. The have many places showing joesph holding baby Jesus instead of Mary. They also have the grandparents of Mary. A uneso recognized site as seen by the blue and white symbol outside.
Craig B — Google review
Lovely church. The sad part is they charge to enter, but you can not take any photos inside.
Roger G — Google review
Beautiful cathedral that you can visit in about half an hour without a guide. There is not much to read to learn about the place unfortunately. You got to notice the wigs they put to the statues!
Philippe — Google review
It was a good experience to see what the Spanish colonization did to the aboriginal people's places. The architecture is nice from the outside and inside as well. The highlight of the whole cathedral is the picture inside where Pizzaro is represented as the person who ruined the Inca culture. Thank you 🇵🇪

Wonderful histories! Don't miss the Last Supper with guinea pig on the table and countless examples of syncretistic art... Especially in the original side chapel Madonnas and the "black" Jesus chapel and story of it's annual use and relation to the earthquakes in 1650 & 1950. I LOVED the actual car covered completely in silver still used in Corpus Christi parades.
Jim M — Google review
40 soles entrance fee for the cathedral ( most churches around the world are 100% free) and we are not allowed to take a picture. This whole town feels like one big tourist scam, no wonder most people recommend only 2 days in here.

Restaurant
Morena Peruvian Kitchen is a sophisticated restaurant located in the heart of Cusco, offering stunning views and an exceptional dining experience. The menu features a mix of traditional Peruvian dishes, including the highly recommended Lomo Saltado. This culinary gem not only delights guests with its exquisite flavors but also upholds a commitment to sustainability and authenticity.
Dining at Morena in Cusco was an absolute highlight of my trip! From the moment I walked in, the team made me feel genuinely welcomed with warm smiles and attentive service that never felt rushed or forced. Every member of the staff went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable, informed about the menu, and always had what we needed. Their knowledge of the dishes and recommendations made the experience even more special. The food itself was outstanding—vibrant, fresh, and beautifully presented. Each dish felt like a modern twist on Peruvian tradition, full of bold flavors that showcased the best of local ingredients. The portions were generous without losing refinement, and every bite was layered with taste and texture. Whether it was the ceviche, the perfectly grilled meats, or the creative cocktails, everything exceeded expectations. What impressed me most was the consistency of excellence: top-notch service, amazing atmosphere, and unforgettable food all coming together seamlessly. Morena is more than just a meal—it’s an experience. If you’re in Cusco, this place is an absolute must! PS: thank you for celebrating my birthday with your special touch!!!

High quality meal with generous servings at an affordable price! We liked everything we ordered - the seafood rice was definitely the standout. Ossobuco was also perfectly cooked with the meat falling off the bone and incredibly tender, but would note that this dish is a little heavy and salty. Great ambiance - loved all the lighting fixtures and greenery inside, and service was lovely. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Cusco. Reservations are a must.

I loved absolutely everything about Morena Peruvian kitchen. I took a chance by walking in without a reservation and got a spot at the bar pretty quickly. The server was so nice and helped me pick out my meal. The drink special of the day was a fruiting pisco drink with passion fruit. The bartender demonstrated how to make the entire drink using super fresh ingredients. The scallop explosion were little delicious mouth fireworks of flavor. The alpaca risotto was cooked perfectly and was super tasty. The risotto was tiny cubed potato’s which surprised me, especially bc I was expecting rice. It was good, but I’m not a potato persons, so I would have preferred rice risotto. It start to pour outside which I could see from the windows overlooking plaza de armas. So, I got the chocolate desert which comes in a cocoa pod. It was very yummy, not overly sweet, and paired great with an espresso. The team allowed me to wait out the rain and let me fully enjoy my delicious meal. One of my main highlights from this trip. The bathroom was super clean and has plenty of tissue paper and great soap

I loved this place so much! From the decor, to the incredible service, to the main highlight the food. The food was fantastic, we got complimentary bread and then ordered the guacamole which was excellent. I got the alpaca with potatoes and a pisco sour and everything was excellent. The staff there are so warm and friendly. I highly recommend
Nye P — Google review
Morena came highly recommended on the forums I looked at prior to booking our vacation. The location is fabulous as it faces the city center. The staff was friendly enough however, when I booked our reservation, I specifically stated we were celebrating our honeymoon. We were originally seated at a table away from the windows and view, but within a few minutes a window table opened up. When my husband asked for us to be moved to a window table our waiter didn’t even ask the hostess, my husband then went downstairs to speak to the hostess that gave him a hard time, but eventually moved us. When we changed tables, we also changed waiters the second waiter was lovely. The octopus was delicious and the beef tartar was good. I got the gnocchi which was OK. My husband got the seafood pasta. Both the Pisco sour and the Pisco punch were very good. We didn’t have dessert. The view was fantastic, but there are also a few other fine dining restaurants that I’m sure have the same view and maybe better service

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Morena Peruvian Kitchen – Cusco (Plaza de Armas) We stopped in for lunch at Morena Peruvian Kitchen, right on the Plaza de Armas, and it was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is bright and modern with a perfect view of the square — a great spot to relax and enjoy the energy of Cusco. I had the alpaca steak, which was cooked perfectly — tender, flavorful, and beautifully plated. It’s definitely on the pricier side for Peru, but it’s worth every sol for the quality, presentation, and service. For dessert, we tried the affogato, a creative twist made with mini churros, ice cream, and a shot of espresso you pour over the top. It was the perfect finish to an incredible meal. Service was excellent — friendly, attentive, and fast without being rushed. All around, a great place for lunch and a must-try for anyone visiting Cusco’s Plaza de Armas.

Incredible dining experience. The atmosphere is beautiful, sexy and welcoming. The food is beyond words, beautiful and delicious. The service is top notch, working as a team and always on top of things. I just wish I had a bigger stomach to eat more. 100% recommend you eat here! The food is art as well as the entire dining room.

I stopped by Morena on my last night in Cusco for a solo date and didn’t have a reservation, so I grabbed a seat at the bar for a drink. The waiter made me a special cocktail right in front of me, and after that, they were kind enough to move me to a table , such a thoughtful touch. I ordered an appetizer that was like a Peruvian twist on egg rolls … crispy, flavorful, and beautifully plated. Between the warm decor, kind service, and how everything was presented, it felt like the perfect little send-off dinner. I’m just a foodie who enjoys discovering cozy spots like this and sharing them with my internet friends … come hang out with me on TikTok @foxy.appetite and IG @foxyappetite.

Chocolate shop
ChocoMuseo, located near Plaza Regocijo in Cusco, is a unique museum dedicated to cocoa and chocolate. It offers guided tours, tastings, and workshops on chocolate making. The museum features a small exhibit at the back of the shop and an artisan chocolate factory that produces a wide variety of organic chocolates using grains grown in Cusco.
Really cool experience for the whole family. The guy leading the chocolate making class was Luis and he was great. Super entertaining and fun! I loved that we got to learn a lot as a family and the kids were super engaged. We did not eat here (other than chocolate) but I saw others eating and it looked good. I would for sure recommend this as a fun thing to do with the family!
Michael H — Google review
Cool museum experience but the chocolate cake is dry and tasted stale, the alfajores cookies with chocolate were also dry and tasted artificial. Very disappointing considering we’re in the factory where it’s supposed to be made fresh. Overall wouldn’t recommend the restaurant. The cacao tea was pretty tasty and unique, however. We didn’t do the workshop. It seemed interesting but maybe overpriced.
Marko G — Google review
We had a wonderful time with the tour which was so educational and well articulated by Miguel. He was so nice and professional. We love all their products especially the chocolate tea. We ate at the restaurant with fantastic servers and ambiance. We made our own chocolate drinks. The empanadas were average.
Ron R — Google review
The Choco museum was pretty cool, but smaller than we thought. On the first floor, they had a chocolate making workshop and there were a few people who attended the class while we were there. If you go up the stairs, they have an array of chocolate displayed, and they were giving samples out. Samples were delicious. One thing I noticed is they don’t use palm oil like they do in the US. They use cocoa butter, which is so much better and healthier for you. The chocolates here are a little pricier than other places across Cusco, but the service was great. We even like some of the chocolate sculptures they had. They are two locations in Cusco, and we only went to this one. Thumbs up.

Free entry. Smallish place. Basically two floors. Downstairs is the cashier & toilets. Upstairs chocolate, liquor of all kinds. Free samples.

We did the chocolate making workshop and absolutely loved it!! We learned so much about the chocolate making process, were able to try so many different types of chocolate, and got to make our own!! Also filling the molds with chocolate and toppings was a blast, a great souvenir!!
Katie F — Google review
Very rich and good quality hot chocolate! And the chicken empanada is to die for! It was so so good that I miss it! The crepe was loaded with strawberries and bananas, up until the last bite. It was my first time having it like this because usually others scrimp on ingredients with what they put inside the crepe, but here it was different. They also offer chocolate making classes. But I suggest to find deals online and don’t come as walk in because they charge 10x more. Highly recommend this place!
Precious M — Google review
I am very grateful for the chocolate making workshop. Miguel, our teacher, exceeded all our expectations. He taught us how to brew tea from chocolate petals, make hot chocolate with different fillings and of course we created our own chocolate bars. It was very fun and educational. Cusco is delicious chocolate and wonderful people.

Ceviche Seafood Kitchen, also known as Ceviche Meat & Wine Co., is a stylish cevicheria located on the Plaza de Armas in Cusco. The restaurant offers a modern and upscale dining experience with professional and friendly staff. It prides itself on using the best fish, shellfish, and local ingredients to create traditional Peruvian ceviche dishes. Despite its prime location, it's not just a tourist trap; the quality of food is top-notch.
Great food. Some of the dishes were missing, but eventually we took 3 local dishes that were very tasty. The dishes are also big and worth your money. Cocktails were also done good and weren’t filled with sugar which is a risk in ordering cocktails. Atmosphere is great and the place has nice design.
Omri H — Google review
We had early dinner on a Thursday night, group of 8. The piscos and the ceviches were great, as well as the trout and the trio. The beef was so-so. The pistacho cheesecake and the Muña teas were great to end the night. Excellent service, we felt very welcomed.
Oscar A — Google review
The best culinary experience I had in Peru! Absolutely delicious food, with the restaurant able to accommodate our group's dietary restrictions (only seafood). Our server, Jeanie, provided a service level not seen even in a 5-star hotel restaurant. She even demonstrated the spiciness level of Peruvian chillies by actually bringing all varieties of them on our table. Classy! The food was beautifully presented like a fine dining setup and the taste matches the look. We actually left the restaurant feeling that we know more about Peruvian culture and food.

We didn’t have a reservation but were luckily able to get seats by the kitchen counter. Absolutely amazing food, great service, very friendly staff and well priced. There are tables overlooking the plaza. Highly recommend. We tried the Barrio Ceviche and Garlic and Chilli prawns and are already thinking of going back during our stay in Cusco.

We had a great experience at Ceviche, located right next to Plaza de Armas in Cusco. The place is bright and modern, with an open kitchen and a fantastic view of the plaza. The seafood dishes were delicious, with plenty of tasty options to choose from. The service was friendly and attentive throughout our meal. For families, Ceviche is an excellent choice. They gave our child materials to paint with and even offered him a complimentary dessert, which he loved. The kids' menu is healthy and appealing, making it easy for parents to relax and enjoy their meal. One downside was that some dishes were a bit too salty and over-seasoned. Despite this, we really enjoyed our visit and would recommend Ceviche for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality Peruvian seafood in a lovely setting.

The garlic chilli prawns and guac was 10/10. The pork belly wasn't really crispy, but flavour was great. Lots of English speaking staff and a good atmosphere. Very happy with it all!

Such a cute place! The food was good and the service even better!! They were so accommodating. The shrimp lettuce wraps are a must! I ordered the trout which was great. The friendly and attentive staff are passionate about their craft, providing excellent service and guidance in choosing from the extensive beer menu.
So glad we stopped here in Cusco! We came for the beer, but were very impressed by the food. Our favorites were the IPAs and the cider. The tritado and mushroom fries were incredible! Also sitting on the balcony was just lovely.

We had a great experience at Cervecería del Valle in Cusco! The place was absolutely packed with a live band, yet our server Medaly went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. She was attentive, prompt, and incredibly kind — even finding us a spot to sit when it looked impossible. The service really stood out and made our night even better. Highly recommend this place for great beer, lively atmosphere, and outstanding service.

Cervecería del Valle Sagrado delivered everything we hoped for and more. We arrived on a Saturday night and were welcomed by the house dog, a beautiful black cocker spaniel who gives high fives—a fun touch that set the tone. The room was busy and buzzing with live music playing American classic rock, but the team never missed a beat. Service was attentive, friendly, and impressively quick. The beer list shows real craft chops, and the cocktails are thoughtful. My favorite drink was the chicha morada pisco sour—an elegant twist on the classic pisco sour we grew to love in Arequipa. For food, the fish and chips featured breaded trout with a fresh salad and fries—an adult take on an old favorite that was crispy, well-seasoned, and not heavy. Between the lively atmosphere, excellent drinks, and polished service, this place is an easy must-visit in Cusco.

We visited several breweries in Cusco but this was our favorite and the one we kept coming back to. Loved the beer here, especially the Del Valle Brew Fest stout. Service was friendly and attentive and the space itself is large with regular and high top tables as well as some outdoor balcony seating overlooking the street below. They also have regular live music. Highly recommend.

Amazing food, great service, fantastic beers and an option of getting beer flights until 7pm. The trio of burgers were delicious and I also tried the tacos which were maybe even better (but no chips with them). Could stay here all day. Live music and live sport playing in the evenings too

What a cool place. They had a sign for blueberry beer (one of my favorites) but it was not in season. I was not disappointed with my flight. The food menu looks great. This is a micro brewery with a local feel.

Me and the family came here three nights in a row! Amazing craft beer on tap, the staff were lovely, especially Yobe and a woman with glasses whose name I didn’t catch. They had live music one of the nights and offer an amazing view on the little balconies. If you’re in the area, please make sure to stop by! My personal favourite was their Pilsner, my family enjoyed their Nectaler Hazy IPA. I’ll be back once I’m back in Cusco!

In response to owner; Yes there were a few problems. Although everybody was very attentive to take our order, we started to wait a long time for our order. We called our server over and they said they were backed up, however when we asked about our cider, she seemed surprised. It was about a 50 minute wait before we received our cider. Then we waited over an hour for our food. I could understand if they were actually busy, but there were only a about 8 other customers and quite a bit of staff. Even as we left, none of them ordered food, just drinks, we brought that up and it seemed the server changed the excuse to a ticketing problem. I also do not mind waiting for good food, but our food was bad. I ordered a taco, it was dry and lacked any flavor. Also, in the month of July my girlfriend was supposed to have a 20% discount here because of her cuenta sueldo BBVA. We were there in early July and mentioned it inthe beginning, however they did not respect the discount. I guess overall we are upset that we spent the only spare couple of hours after work that day waiting, and for us it was a lot of money for bad food.

Brewpub
Cholos Craft Beers in Cusco is a small brewpub that offers a wide selection of craft beers from various local breweries. Despite some taps being out, the place has a cozy and comfortable atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to meet other travelers or expats. In addition to their extensive beer selection, they also serve delicious hamburgers and have artisanal pizzas available for delivery.
Brilliant music playing, good mix of 80s 90s and 00s. The food was great too, got one of their burgers and it was a generous portion. Staff we're very friendly and attentive. I will definitely be returning or recommending Cholpa Craft Beers Cusco.

I came for the beer, and wasn't disappointed. They claim to have 20 taps, but quite a few were out. This still left plenty of options though. A great selection of beers from Peru and South America. Comfortable atmosphere. Good service, although a little short staffed. Great music, especially if you like early 2000s alternative rock, which I do.

Went there on a Saturday night, the places is hidden inside a courtyard but this is what I liked the most, the place has outdoor sitting and also indoor. They had something like six different type of small brewery beers, I tried one stout and it was good. Nothing special. The patio has this very relaxing atmosphere, definitely worth a visit.

Very good lentil vegan burger 💚 also good craft beer on tap

Great brew pub with a good selection. We tried the quinoa kolsh, imperial IPA and lemonade. The lemonade was amazing with a hint of mint. We loved the tables overlooking the patio.

Very nice location, cool designed, very friendly service and delicious burger and excellent Pollada. And on top very good choice of music!

Great beer in a beautiful square just off the main tourist spots. Not much choice for non beer drinkers but that was fine for me! Staff were friendly.

Amazing rotating selection of craft beers on tap with friendly service. On top of basic bar food, the Pizza place next door will deliver both food and wine into Cholos. Highly recommend visiting for a pint!

Chicha by Gaston Acurio is a renowned restaurant in Cusco, Peru, associated with the famous Peruvian chef Gaston Acurio. Conveniently situated near the iconic Plaza de Armas, it offers a tempting menu of expertly crafted Peruvian dishes that showcase the rich and diverse flavors of Peruvian cuisine.
Fantastic experience at this famous restaurant. Very diverse menu with unique dishes. Cocktails were superb and the food was fantastic, with big portions. Excellent service, our waiter Pablo made sure we had the best of times. Very busy but vibrant ambience. Strongly recommended, a must go. Very reasonably priced too.

From one of the forefathers of Lima gastronomy, only in Cusco! It was pretty solid overall. They really love to try to push wine here, but I suggest you go for a cocktail. Just look at how incredible mine looked! Easily best part of my meal. In fact, I’d recommend going here mainly for the drinks. Not so much for the food. It was just ok and for the price you can get much better bang for your buck elsewhere. I also thought Gaston y Astrid (in Lima) was far better.

During our 6 nights in Cusco we tried 6 different restaurants. Chicha is clearly the best of them for the quality of the food, nice ambiance and outstanding service. They are able to make the traditional Peruvian dishes delicious with great seasonings and cooking to perfection. The only thing I suggest they do better is to add their wines in the drinks menu. They have many bottles of wine in their cellar but do not list them. They should.
Kiu S — Google review
We stopped here for lunch as we wanted some chicken soup. The Abuello (grandma’s) chicken soup was delicious! We also had the traditional chichamora (purple) Peruvian non alcohol drink. Yummy!!! In reviewing the menu, it looked so good we decided to come back for dinner. We were not disappointed!!! We shared the empanadas, a trout fish and the tortellini dish. OMG! Some of THE BEST food we have all had in a restaurant (and we come from San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio). This place deserves a 5.0 in our book! We will be back (for a 3rd and, mauve, a 4th time ). 😝

If you’re looking for a place to try la comida cusceña I highly recommend. The service by Milcom was really lovely. He recommended me some beautiful dishes and warned they come quite big. It’s a bit difficult if you by your own and want to try many things. I’ve tried trout ceviche, great. Then chupe sagrado, lovely combination from the area but not completely my personal flavors. But the star for me was ravioli with lamb and pumpkin. Incredible!!

I went for my birthday and had a fantastic experience. They basically serve traditional Andean Peruvian food, but elevated to its best possible state. They're not trying to reinvent the wheel, but they are perfecting it. I ordered the panceta, and it was cooked to perfection. The meat was tender and juicy, and the crust was perfectly crisp and crunchy. For dessert, I ordered the churros, and they were fantastic too. To drink I had the chicha morada and it was delicious. For my complementary birthday dessert, they brought out some profiteroles with ice cream. SO good! The place was beautiful and the atmosphere was lively but not loud. The service was impeccable. The staff were all very helpful, attentive, and knowledgeable.

Walked in with a crew of twelve, walked out with stories and sauce-streaked plates. Chicha isn’t your dusty backpacker haunt or a quick bite before the Sacred Valley. This is where Peruvian pride dresses up and throws a damn good party. The steak? Swimming in a peppercorn sauce that demanded bread just to mop it up. The rotisserie chicken was the sleeper hit—juicy, fiery with that ají-forward marinade, riding shotgun with a vibrant cucumber salad and fluffy rice. Drinks? Oh yes. Pisco sours that hit with citrus and foam like a warm slap. A Chilcano that kept things crisp. A bottle (or three) of Intipalka Malbec from Ica sealed the deal—proof that Peru’s wine game isn’t just playing in the minor leagues anymore. Yes, it’s upscale. Yes, it’s pricey. But the service is smooth, and the food has real soul. A rare combo. Would return in a heartbeat. 📍 Location: Central Cusco 🍽 Dishes tried: Steak, rotisserie chicken, salads 🍷 Drinks: Pisco sour, chilcano, Ica Malbec 💰 Pricey but worth it

This is the restaurant of Gastón Acurio, the pride of Peruvian cuisine. With its bamboo and wood-focused decor, a white-uniformed service team, and a spacious, airy layout, it’s one of the city’s most stylish venues. Traditional flavors are presented with modern touches and elegant plating. I especially recommend the seafood tacos and tortilla starters.

Mercado Central de San Pedro is a lively covered market offering a variety of goods such as produce, meat, clothing, souvenirs, snacks, and fresh juices. Before visiting the market, you can explore the bohemian area of San Blas with its cobbled streets and Inca history. The neighborhood is known for its local artisans creating beautiful crafts sold at the Santurantikuy fair.
I ate such delicious healthy local food here cooked by the Indigenous women everyday during my week-long stay. I don’t understand why many tourists don’t eat here! Lunch with generous portions of a soup and entre for 8 soles or $2.5. Highly recommend and please tip them if you can even if it’s not expected :)

It's not just tourists who eat and shops here, the locals do too. They've got local stuff, food, fresh produce, drinks, souvenirs, and even pisco. I love chicken soup, and a bunch of places sell it, but only the one on the corner is packed. It's so good, with a savory broth and juicy chicken. There are also lots of fresh fruit juice stands, and they're all good. They squeeze it fresh, no ice, no sugar, it's so fresh and delicious. You should check out this market before 10 am, otherwise, it'll be super crowded.

Sprawling marketplace offering a large variety of everything from local arts and crafts to juices and smoothies. Great spot for people watching. Make sure to do some good natured negotiating before buying, it's expected and it can be a lot of fun!

A colorful and authentic local market! The San Pedro Market is a must-visit in Cusco. It’s full of life, colors, and amazing local products. You can find everything here — fresh fruits, local food, handmade crafts, and souvenirs. The atmosphere is lively and authentic, giving you a real taste of Peruvian culture. It’s also a great place to try traditional dishes and interact with friendly local vendors. Walking through the aisles is an experience full of scents, sounds, and smiles. A true gem in the heart of Cusco !

This is a fresh market with a wide variety of local souvenirs and food at very affordable prices. If you're looking to buy souvenirs to take home, this is the place to stop. Even on your way to the market, you'll find locals selling goods along the roadside at very reasonable prices.

Our tour guide took us here and introduced us to some native fresh fruit and get to try few of them on the spot. Great experience. This is a genuine market place for the locals but also mixes in few tourists groups. It very humbling to see how hard people work here and how lucky we are.

Qorikancha, also known as the 'Court of Gold,' is a significant Inca ruin located in Peru. It was originally built to honor the sun god and was adorned with pure gold, including walls, altars, and life-size statues of plants and animals. However, much of its wealth was looted during the Spanish conquest.
Very neat place to check out. The history is fascinating and worth learning about. There is great art work and some incredible woodworking. If you like history of religion there is a lot of it. My favorite part of it is the amazing architecture.

The most important temple of the Inca empire, partially destroyed to build the church. The museum goes over the history but also has paintings of the Cusco school (amongst others). On the balconies you get nice views of the city, or you can climb up the bell tower to get even better ones.
Bruno V — Google review
The site primarily features pre-Inca stonework and a church, presenting a compelling juxtaposition of historical periods. The experience extends beyond the interior, encompassing the exterior as well. We recommend visiting the top tower for panoramic views and the artifacts bell. The entrance fee is approximately ten Soles. Ascending to the summit via the narrow stairway offers a memorable experience.
SPICY — Google review
What a beautiful museum/heritage site. So much to learn! Please note: entry is not included in the boleto turístico (only the Museo del Sitio Q, which is not worth it). But for this site, it's 20 soles well spent. Allow for at least 90 minutes if you don't want to rush.

An amazing place full of history and beauty! The Temple of the Sun in Cusco, also known as Qorikancha, is one of the most impressive sites I visited in Peru. The combination of ancient Inca architecture and Spanish colonial influence is truly fascinating. You can really feel the spirit of the Inca civilization in every stone. The museum inside offers interesting information about the culture and beliefs of the Incas. A beautiful and peaceful place that you shouldn’t miss when visiting Cusco!
Aymen C — Google review
Such a beautiful museum. So much Inca history and views were amazing. Im glad I paid 5 soles which is less than 2 us dollars to go upstairs to see the bells and views. Don't skip that part. It's worth your time!
Stephanie B — Google review
Qorikancha is one of the most historically significant sites in all of Peru. It was once the dazzling Inca Temple of the Sun, famously covered in gold. Today, you witness an incredible architectural fusion: the Spanish Santo Domingo Convent built directly on the top of the original, perfectly fitted Inca stone walls. The most amazing part is seeing how the Inca walls survived every major earthquake, while the Spanish structures did not. It is a powerful testament to Inca engineering genius and a must-see for understanding the depth of Cusco's history. Truly unforgettable.

Art museum
Located in the basement of the Boleto Turistico del Cusco office on Avenida El Sol, Museo de Arte Popular houses a diverse collection of ceramics, photographs, paintings, and sculptures. The museum features works by renowned Peruvian artists like Edilberto Merida, Hilario Mendivil, and Santiago Rojas. Managed by the Instituto Americano de Arte, it offers a unique insight into local artistry.
This little museum is in the basement of the Cusco provincial offices. It's free with the big museum ticket. As some reviews have noted, it's dingy and a little dusty, but I found it amusing. There are folk art miniatures of daily life and religious scenes. Like a reinterpretation of the birth of Christ as if it had taken place in a jungle. For me it was 20 minutes well spent.
Colin H — Google review
This museum ticket entry was with the sacsaywaman . Visit very easy to get an entry. Because it is in a government building on in the basement. There is a person open just the complimentary ticket. There are 3 halls. The first hall has a lot of cupboards with all the are small small artefacts. And the ceramix of different type of toys arts which are displayed but they are crammed. I have attach some photos in the second hall. Basically. It is the ruler James shown with the horse and also a big sculpture of the man displayed in the last room. There is a lot. Total theatrical representation of all the inc.and/or the historic remains of different regimes if you have time visit. But it is not a must go place

Included in the Bileto Turistico. To call this a museum is a stretch. It's three rooms, one with a video exhibit in Spanish only, one with some historical black-and-white photos of Cusco, and one room packed with ugly display cases filled with random objects, dolls, and figurines. Seems to me it's a few spare rooms in the basement of the municipal building, where employees have been asked to bring random objects from their attic which they don't want to keep. Information boards (pictured) indicate this museum started as the "American Institute of Art of Cusco", which is remarkable as there is no English explanation whatsoever. If I would have paid for entry here, beside the Bileto Turistico (which I got for other purposes), I would be absolutely raging.
Johan B — Google review
Not worth the visit. This is not a museum but a somewhat random collection of things all cramped into the basement of a government building. It can be easily missed, but if you really want to go there - take the stairs down left side after entering the building.

A charming little museum showcasing beautiful Peruvian folk art—perfect for a quick cultural stop! The exhibits include colorful textiles, pottery, masks, and other traditional crafts that highlight the creativity of local artisans. The staff were welcoming and happy to chat about the pieces. I spent about an hour there and really enjoyed learning more about Peru’s rich artistic traditions. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in town!

This museum is inside this government building and located downstairs. I was looking for the museum and passed by this building a couple times until I decided to go inside and check around, then I found the staircase with the signage. History Museums
Housed in the former residence of Inca Garcilaso de la Vega Chimpu Ocllo, a prominent colonial poet and historian with both Spanish and Inca heritage, the Regional Historical Museum of Cusco offers a captivating journey through Peru's diverse historical periods. The museum showcases an array of paleontological and archaeological artifacts dating back to prehistoric eras, as well as colonial paintings, Jesuit sculptures, and excavated finds.
The museum gives a great overview of local history without getting too detailed while also adding nuance. Should the histories rely on Spanish or Peruvian accounts? Where do the accounts differ? And how do local, national, and international politics all influence the history as artefacts are found, gifted, lost and reclaimed-- including the iconic gold sun crest that Cusco uses in its modern street signs. The museum raises these great questions alongside artefacts and accounts of the past-- all of which prompt questions about Cusco's future.
Catherine B — Google review
Likely one of the better museums in Cusco, covering the history of the city, the Incas, and the colonial period. Ticket is included in the Bileto Turistico. There are English translations for most exhibits and displays (which is not generally the case in Cusco...), although the translation is not perfect and the text is faded in some places. We spent 30 minutes walking through the museum, but definitely worth a full hour if you're interested.
Johan B — Google review
A very enriching visit to the Cusco Regional Historical Museum. The museum is located in a beautiful colonial mansion that belonged to Garcilaso de la Vega. The layout of the rooms takes you through the history of Cusco from pre-Inca times to the colonial era. I really liked the archaeological artifacts, the colonial paintings, and the clear explanation of each stage. The atmosphere is peaceful, ideal for a leisurely stroll. Plus, it’s included in the tourist ticket, so it’s a must-see if you’re exploring the historic center. Recommended if you’re interested in Peruvian history and culture!n

Interesting little museum with exhibits going back to pre-historical times, moving forwards to modern times. Not a big museum but some interesting information, especially around the Inca uprising against the Spanish and the Spanish Incan Garcilaso (whose house I think is next door - he also has a museum/house dedicated to him in Spain). Entrance fee is included in the Cusco Tourist Tickets.
Gary H — Google review
Very nice collection of pre historical, Incan, and colonial artifacts. The museum tells a history from up through modern times.
Adam P — Google review
Incredible artifacts but the descriptions didn’t have much information. It’s definitely worth a look if you have the tourist ticket.
Grace W — Google review
It is interesting enough, it starts with some prehistoric exhibition and then moves on toward Spanish occupation and the mix of Incas and Conquistadores. The initial part is maybe a bit too short and the Christian part is too long in comparison to the other exhibitions. There is a lack of period indication. It is not clear whether the exhibitions are in chronological order. Several artifacts don't indicate the years or periods which would be important to know in a historical museum.
Renzo L — Google review
Enjoyed this museum. There’s many paintings and descriptions in English. If you’re unsure where to get tickets they’ll direct you. There’s two floors and many rooms. There’s an interesting video of the life of a famous Spanish Inka. Subtitles are in English. There’s lots of religious paintings as well. They have a decently clean bathroom as well.

Mirador desde el Cristo Blanco

Observation deck
Mirador desde el Cristo Blanco is a popular destination in Cusco, featuring a 26-foot Christ statue on a hill. The statue was donated by the Arab-Palestinian community and built in 1945 by local sculptor Francisco Olazo. To reach the mirador, visitors can take a steep hike from the main square through Hatunrumiyoc street and atoqsayquchi street.
If you want the ultimate view of the entire city, this is the place to go. The white statue of Christ (Cristo Blanco) is a beautiful landmark, but the real star is the spectacular, sweeping panorama of Cusco nestled in the Andes valley. It is an easy walk from the Sacsayhuamán ruins, making it a perfect final stop. The vantage point is excellent for seeing the city's ancient design and colonial layout. Highly recommended for amazing photos, especially around sunset!
Michal R — Google review
White statue of Christ overlooking the city, you can see it from almost anywhere in Cusco. Nice panoramic views. Most visitors arrive by taxi or tour bus but it's quite simple to walk from the city (or from Saqsayhuaman), about a 20 minute hike (a lot of uphill) from the trail head in Cusco. No entry fee. Some smaller crosses also set up next to the statue. A lot of vendors camped out just by the statue which detracts somewhat from the atmosphere.
Johan B — Google review
Smaller than expected. I don't recommend trying to walk there. There were A LOT of stairs that were very steep. With the altitude being so high in Cusco already, it's not for the faint of heart. That being said, the view was worth the trek! The state was okay. Nothing awe inspiring. I'm a Christian but I don't worship statues of Jesus. So it wasn't all that significant to me spiritually. But again, the view of Cusco was stunning! Definitely recommend going for sunset and staying until dark to see all the city lights.
JR — Google review
Beautiful view and great experience! We hiked up to Cristo Blanco on foot, and it was totally worth it. The walk is a bit steep but enjoyable, and once you reach the top, the panoramic view of Cusco is absolutely breathtaking. You can see the entire city and the surrounding mountains. It’s a peaceful place to relax, take photos, and enjoy the sunset. A must-do experience when visiting Cusco — the view is unforgettable !
Aymen C — Google review
Cristo Blanco was well worth the hike up the hill. The walk gave us a great workout, and the views from the top were incredible — overlooking all of Cusco with the towering statue of Jesus watching over the city. A perfect spot to take in the scenery and appreciate the beauty and history of the area.
Geoffrey B — Google review
This makes for a great work out from Cusco’s city center. I forgot to count the stairs but you will be climbing stairs for at least a half an hour to 45 minutes if you include breaks. The end is very rewarding with a magnificent view of the entire city. Don’t forget to bring water but, as usual, you will find vendors at the top. You can also go by vehicle which is probably a better idea if you’re not in good physical shape. A must do visit if you are in Cusco.
Michel L — Google review
We loved the hike up from the city. There are a lot of steps but it’s very manageable. An Uber or taxi is only 6-8soles and then you can walk down if it’s your first day or two. The view over the city is great. Get there early to avoid the crowds. We then carried on walking from here to the eucalyptus forest and zona x. Beyond the statue we saw lots of llamas and alpacas. There are stalks to buy souvenirs and refreshments.
Our F — Google review
A busy viewpoint overlooking the city. Not entirely worth it in my opinion, it’s very much a tourist trap in which dozens of tour buses and its inhabitants overwhelm the place.

Café Dwasi Peruvian Coffee is a local gem in Cusco, named after the Quechuan word for "home" to honor its roots. Established in 2015, it was among the first specialty coffee spots in the city and has since expanded to three locations. While offering a modest food menu, their focus remains on showcasing high-quality Peruvian coffee.
A very cute little cafe with amazing coffee right in downtown Cuzco. The almond milk flat white and standard cappuccino were amazing. The lemon pie and waffle with Nutella, strawberry’s and banana were great as well. The atmosphere is great and the service is very friendly. Definitely worth visiting if you value good coffee!

We stopped in Cafe D’Wasi to have some coffee and an empanada. We will rush for time, but thought we could order at the table quickly rather than place it to go order. The service was incredibly slow. They brought the menu but didn’t come back and we had to wave them down. We ended up walking up to change our order to go and they made the coffees for us and heated up the empanadas. Overall this place is good, but not amazing. They do have good coffee and empanadas and the store is clean, but the service can be improved.

The restaurant provides exceptional service and a welcoming atmosphere. Vegetarian options are available, and the staff is accommodating to dietary preferences such as vegan choices. Customers praise the generous portion sizes and well-seasoned food, although some note that it can be pricier compared to other local eateries.
The food is a great change when you want some spice and flavor while in Peru. We went during peak dinner time so a wait was to be expected but we got some appetizers and drinks and enjoyed people watching. The lamb skewers were amazing. Very solid curry, and was kind enough to ask how ‘hot’ I’d like it. The naan bread was the star of the show! The drinks were slightly small and overpriced but the rice and naan were included with the curry (some places charge for all of them each)
Matthew L — Google review
Indians disown this restaurant Any Indian with taste buds would disown this place. The naan was dry and rubbery, the dal tadka tasted like plain boiled lentils with zero spice, and the mutton masala and channa masala were a disgrace — bland, watery, and completely soulless. This food is an insult to Indian cuisine. If you’ve ever eaten real Indian food, you’ll be shocked at how bad this is. Truly one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had — avoid at all costs.
Rahuldeb M — Google review
Great location, delicious native Indian flavors, and warm hospitality. Our waiter Kelly was attentive and made the experience even better. A must-visit in Cusco for anyone craving real Indian taste with excellent service
Kiran — Google review
Food when we finally got it was good but we waited over an hour for it. I believe they were confused and kept sending our food to a table close to us. We found a piece of plexiglass in our food and waited till after our bill was paid to show them because we didn’t want any discount, but just wanted them to be more aware. They hardly acknowledged it. No apology or someone coming out to say so sorry, nothing.

Delicious food! Great service and generous portions. True indian flavor
Callie C — Google review
A solid traditional, Indian restaurant in Cusco. If you were looking for typical Indian food while visiting Cusco, this is the place. Friendly service and tasty food. I particularly liked the chai tea. And the naan bread is fresh, warm, light and flaky. Absolutely delicious. The only thing to keep in mind, is it is a family restaurant. So they have a small boy who runs around singing and playing in the dining room. For me it just added to the experience. But I can imagine for some it could be a bit distracting from their meal.

Cafe
La Valeriana is a delightful coffee shop located in Cusco, Peru, known for its high-quality coffee and complete menu. The cafe offers a relaxed atmosphere and opens every day from 08:00-22:00. It's a great place to enjoy well-prepared drinks and desserts that are not overly sweet. The service is friendly, making it a nice stop during a walk across the city or after a day tour.
Very relaxing and peaceful environment. Very well mannered, well English speaking staff. A great short experience in enjoying this cafe shop as we were passing
Gurpal A — Google review
If money is no object, than this is a great place. It is super centrally located (which in part justifies the prices, but at 10 Peruvian Sol an espresso is not just locally expensive, but downright overpriced) and the high prices makes it so that it is never crowded. Both sweets and coffee based drinks are actually very pleasant, but not as good as to justify the prices they ask for. Your money, your choice (and 10 Peruvian Sol is less than 3 USD so it might not seem so expensive to you, depending on where you come from).

If you’re looking for a cozy spot to relax, treat yourself, and try something a little different, this dessert place is a must. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere. It’s clean, charming, and perfect for a mid-day break or an evening treat. The staff is incredibly kind and helpful, and best of all — they speak English, which makes ordering and asking questions super easy, especially if you’re unfamiliar with Peruvian flavors. The dessert selection is huge, with something for every kind of sweet tooth, everything looks beautiful and tastes even better. It’s the kind of place where you’ll want to try more than one thing — and probably come back for more. What really stood out were the drinks. The muna tea is soothing and minty, perfect for winding down, while the valeriana lemonade is refreshing with a unique floral twist — unlike anything you’d find in a typical café. Both drinks pair perfectly with the desserts and really highlight the local flavors. Overall, this spot is a little slice of dessert paradise. Whether you’re stopping by solo, with friends, or looking for a unique experience as a traveler, this place hits all the right notes. Delicious treats, great drinks, and even better service — highly recommend!

La Valeriana Bake Shop – A Sweet Pause Across from the Stones If you’re wandering down the main avenue of Cusco—right across from the ancient stonework of Qorikancha (yes, that’s the one!)—you might miss it if you blink. But you shouldn’t. La Valeriana Bake Shop is one of those quiet little sanctuaries where time slows down, sugar reigns supreme, and the only ancient ruins you’ll care about are the crumbs left on your plate after devouring one of their desserts. The space feels more like the warm living room of a friend who actually knows how to bake—comfortable corners, quirky tiered seating with floor cushions, greenery scattered in potted corners, and a laid-back vibe that invites you to stay for far longer than you intended. And you should. Let’s talk about the pastries. My God, the pastries. Displayed like jewelry in a Parisian boutique, each one looks too pretty to eat… until you do. Whether it’s the impossibly delicate fruit cheesecake, the decadent chocolate tsunami, or a tart topped with clouds of toasted meringue that makes you want to believe in heaven again—this place delivers. The cakes are show-stopping, the quiches satisfying, and the selection wide enough to tempt both the sugar-hardened cynic and the casual croissant dabbler. But, fair warning—bring your patience. The staff here seem to operate on Peruvian time… and then slow it down just a little more for good measure. Service can be a little absent-minded or aloof, and you might wait longer than you’d like for a coffee refill or a check. But here’s the thing: if you can surrender to the slower pace and let yourself melt into the atmosphere like butter into warm cake, you’ll be rewarded with one of the most memorable pastry moments in the Sacred Valley. Verdict: La Valeriana may not serve you fast—but it will serve you something worth remembering. And that’s a trade-off I’ll take any day.

Good pastries and an ok coffee. Had a lemon cake and it was very tasty, but a bit too sweet for me. Cute interiors and a great location.

Delightful coffee shop. Take your seat and they serve at the table. Lots of quirky tables and chairs...ours were a little uncomfortable for short people! Salt pasties (meat) are wonderful, as are the cakes and coffee. Very convenient for the Los Portales hotel.

I was there twice. The first time in the evening and everything was great and the food was very tasty. So I decided to get breakfast there the next morning since the breakfast menu looked great (around 9:30). However when I tried to order from the breakfast menu they told me that there was nothing from it available. After I ordered something else I could hear the staff making fun of me and laughing at me for trying to order from the breakfast menu behind the bar. It honestly made me feel a bit uncomfortable.

The ambience is great. However, I wanted to order breakfast here and they didn't have half of the stuff we wanted to order. For this price i expected better.

Papacho's in Cuzco is a vibrant burger restaurant located on the main square, offering an extensive selection of burgers and bar food, including vegetarian options. While it may cater to tourists, the quality of the food and cocktails is commendable, making it a convenient spot for exploring the nearby nightlife. This establishment provides an affordable opportunity to savor Peruvian cuisine by renowned chef Gaston Acurio.
Went there for lunch while visiting Cuzco. Great customer service, and the food was delicious. Most of the staff is bilingual(Spanish and English) as well as their menus. The atmosphere was really nice I can only imagine how beautiful it must be at night. Will come back again when I'm back in Peru.

Tried la gaucha burger.. delicious .. melting in the mouth. Stuffed with avocado as well and came with fries. Very cozy place to sit and enjoy meal with view. Staff was very accommodating and got us balcony area on request. Lots of options on the menu for whole family, kids friendly

This was the first restaurant I ate at when I arrived at Cuzco. They provide menus in English, if needed. I highly recommend the restaurant because of the super friendly atmosphere and the large portions. Food was delicious and came out quickly. The onion rings were the best I've ever had. The falafel sandwich was a great vegetarian option too.

If you’re looking for a burger or wings with some Peruvian flair, then this is a solid option. The wing appetizer had three varieties to try and we enjoyed all of them. The yellow ones were incredible but I forgot what they were called. We also had La Gaucha Burgers which we really enjoyed. We asked for medium rare but they came out closer to the rare side, but still tasted great. Service was good and so was the balcony seating which offered a great view of the Plaza below. Pricing for food is above average for the region, but nothing too crazy. Overall, I reckon it’s a 4.5 star spot.

Great location, found easily in the city square. The staff were friendly and bathrooms were clean. A beautiful view of the square from the balcony! Best of all, the food was great. My friends had the alpaca burger, which they stated was savory and full of flavor. I had a veggie burger which I would also recommend if you are vegetarian. Overall, I would recommend this place if you’re looking for something American with a Peruvian twist.

Managed to get a superb seat and table on the balcony looking out onto the main square in Cuzco. The service was excellent and although we didn’t eat here the menu looked fantastic as did the food being served. Great spot to people and traffic watch.

Nice place close to the main square. The food was delicious. The smash burger were amazing and are highly recommanded. The papa which came along the burger taste very good. There was only one bad point about it. They had live music there and the music was very loud. To be honest the singer was very bad. He missed everything and was a pain to hear. All in all it was a delicous meal.

Day 3

Off the beaten path
For day 3, if you don’t mind the extra trek, today covers more off the beaten path places like Saqsaywaman. Not quite as popular as Mercado Central de San Pedro, but still highly rated among many travelers. Accounting for getting around and average time spent, today’s activities could take about 8 hours.

Saqsaywaman is an awe-inspiring archaeological site located just north of Cusco, Peru. This ancient Inca fortress is renowned for its impressive stone walls, constructed with remarkable precision and without the use of mortar. The site features a complex layout that includes residential areas, temples, roads, and aqueducts, showcasing the advanced engineering prowess of the Incas.
3rd time here and just as incredible each time. The stone work is insane. Neat to see they found tunnels and you can see them working to uncover them. Great views from here and so historic. Really need to check it out.
Michael H — Google review
A place you should visit if you visit Cusco. My guide told us this was a sacred place. Huge rocks were used for construction. It can sustain earthquakes. One of the biggest rock could be over 180 tons.
Yung-chin C — Google review
This site is an absolute must-see when visiting Cusco. The scale and precision of the stonework here are simply mind-blowing. Seeing the massive stones, fitted together without mortar, is a powerful testament to the advanced engineering skills of the Inca Empire. The zig-zag walls are architecturally unique and the history is palpable. The views of Cusco from this hill are also spectacular. Be prepared for the altitude, take your time, and enjoy this incredible piece of history!
Michal R — Google review
Saqsaywaman has truly captured my heart, surpassing my expectations even more than Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. The site offers an unparalleled opportunity to study pre-Inca stonework up close, with masterful craftsmanship on full display. I was impressed by the ease of access and the relative lack of tourists, which allowed for a more intimate experience. The site's cleanliness and maintenance are also noteworthy, reflecting the dedication of the local authorities. For a unique perspective, I highly recommend taking a horseback ride around the perimeter, which revealed additional Inca structures and ruins that are often overlooked by visitors. This experience added a new layer of depth to my understanding and appreciation of the site's history and architecture
SPICY — Google review
Saqsaywaman is one of the most amazing archaeological sites I’ve ever visited — and easily one of the greatest mysteries of the ancient world. Standing before the massive stone walls (thought to represent the teeth of a puma), each block perfectly fitted together without mortar, it’s impossible not to wonder how the Inca or whoever built it moved and shaped stones weighing up to 100 tons with such precision. The stones lock together like a puzzle, surviving centuries of earthquakes that have toppled many other structures in Cusco.
Alex B — Google review
Be prepared! It is high up and you should take regular breaks. Otherwise it's a beautiful place to visit. You will get approached on the way by people offering tours and an inclusive ticket but honestly the math didn't quite make sense. Go to the official entrance in the wood booth. Lots of different routes, good place to take photos and nice views over the city. Be sure to visit the village after that is up the hill to the right for food, gifts and ice cream.
Alex C — Google review
Impressive historical site! We didn’t go inside Sacsayhuamán, but we walked around the outside area, and it was still amazing. The massive Inca stone walls are incredible to see up close — you can really feel the history and power of this ancient place. The view over Cusco from the site is also beautiful, and the atmosphere is calm and full of meaning. Even just exploring the exterior is worth it if you love history and culture !
Aymen C — Google review
Unreal place to visit, we were left jaw to the floor for most of the day. If you are into ancient history, here is a must visit. We spent around 5 and half hours here and could have quite possibly spent longer looking at big rocks!

Museums
The Inka Museum, located in the city of Cusco, offers a charming collection of Inca art, artifacts, and architecture within an old-fashioned setting. The museum is situated on the former palace of Huascar, an Inca emperor. Over time, the property changed hands among various owners including Spanish conquistadors and local families. Visiting this gem allows you to delve into the rich history of the Inca civilization from its origins to its eventual conquest by the Spanish.
As we go, I can honestly say that this was my best museum experience of the trip. It’s definitely a dated space and you can tell they don’t have a lot of funding, but Claire and I thought that really added to the charm and it feels like you’re kind of walking through a 90s high school History presentation done by a star pupil and it’s pretty sweet. It was fun to walk through and take photographs, as well as learn about the artists representation of what saquasawawoman used to look like.
Cole G — Google review
Thorough museum about Inca timeline, tools, places. Some exhibits have English explanation but other don’t. Still worth the 20soles ticket. Was pretty quiet when we went at noon.

A great little museum to find out the history of the area. It costs 20 sol / adult and free for under 12s.
Our F — Google review
The artifacts are indeed amazing but the museum itself is poorly maintained. Besides lacking some English translation, some itens didn't have any description such as period (even an approximate date would've been nice). Still, would recommend a visit as you may dig deeper on Inca and Pre-Inca civilisation.
Luiza T — Google review
Today we visited the Inka Museum! It’s right off the plaza mayor decuzco (big plaza in Cusco with lots of shops and things). Outside of the travel itinerary from our travel company this was one of two museums we wanted to visit. I wanted to go and see an elongated skull in person and they have several. The museum is 20 soles to get in, the staff were very friendly and scope good enough English. Despite the reviews, most things had some English along with Spanish. It wasn’t everything but reception was great so google translate did the rest. It has an impressive amount of pre Inca pottery, arrow / axe heads, etc. Was not disappointed at all. They also had great miniatures of Machu Pichu and other important areas. If you find yourself with a few spare hours it’s great.
Karl W — Google review
20 Soles entrance fee for international adults. Some interesting artefacts and content of Inka ans Pre-Inka civilalisation. 2nd floor definitely have some more interesting items. Not all exhibits have English text. There is also a traditional music demonstration which was quite neat.

A very authentic tribute to the Inca history of Peru. Allow several hours, the best of the exhibit comes later in the tour layout. No photos were allowed, so none to share. Location was perfect and easy to find.

A good size museum with a lot of interesting history and artefacts. If you spend time here, reading the plentiful information boards, you will learn a lot about the Incan mythology and religion, along with learning about the pre-Incan civilizations, that were around for much longer than the Incas.

Sapantiana Aqueduct

(1719)
The Sapantiana Aqueduct, a hidden gem near Cusco's Plaza de Armas, is a historical marvel with three levels of arches resembling a bridge over the Saphi River. Dating back to 1565, it was built during the Peruvian colonial period to supply water to the city center. Despite being discovered in mid-2020, this aqueduct has been an integral part of Cusco for centuries and offers visitors a glimpse into Inca culture and infrastructure.
Worth the walk up the multitude of steps! It’s a beautiful colonial aqueduct. We really enjoyed seeing it.
Our F — Google review
Due to the dry season and Cusco going through a drought and a mix of global warming, the stairs didn’t have a strong current flowing. It was a good hike up and down stairs to get to but it was a worth a beer once I got up top and bottom. If you climb around entrance of the stairs theirs a great vantage point to take pictures.
Krammer A — Google review
Aqueducts are always interesting engineering works. Only a small partition of this one is available to view - but worth a stop if you're in the neighborhood. You can get pretty close when the water of the little canal is running low. Watch out though as the stones may be slippery.

Lovely place. Entrance is free. You just have to walk up Choquechaka street, and then the stairs.

A nice place to visit in Cusco. The aqueduct is non functional. There is a nice coffee shop on its side. Should be a mandatory stop for a walking tour of Cusco.
PALLAB R — Google review
This is a fun little picture site of an old aqueduct in Cusco. It is right by "Calle 7 Borreguitos" where there is another photo op of the high stairs and iconic corner building. The aqueduct arch and waterfall require a short walk down a slippery cobblestone path due to the running water. Be careful as it is on an incline. The line for pictures can get long, but it's worth it.

Amazing fresh food. All farm to table. Quinoa soup, trout with native spices and homemade fettuccini with chicken and pesto were all 10/10. Juan was a great server. Professional and friendly and genuine. Highly recommend!

We chose the perfect restaurant for our vegetable meal — everything was made with fresh farm produce, and the cooking was fantastic. The trout ceviche is a must-try dish! I loved every item we ordered, and the hot pot with fresh herbal tea was another special highlight.

If you visit Cusco, this restaurant is an absolute must-visit. I came here on my last day and already regret not coming sooner. Every dish was so delicious that it makes me want to try everything on the menu and it makes me want to come back to Cusco just for this place! (한국사람들 이 리뷰를 보셨다면 저믿고 그냥 여기 무조건 가세요 제가 장담할게요😎) True to its name, all ingredients were fresh. The sweet potato ravioli was a real highlight. I want it again! The pizza was amazing too… honestly, everything was beyond just “delicious.” I usually don’t eat dessert at restaurants, but I had to try the chocolate souffle, and it was perfectly sweet and satisfying. The mint ice cream served alongside wasn’t artificial at all-it tasted like 100% real mint. I normally don’t like mint ice cream, but it paired beautifully with the chocolate souffle. Also, the restaurant has a cute mascot cat (I forgot its name 😅), and all the servers were super friendly. Thank you for giving us such a wonderful memory in Cusco! 🐱💛

All around excellent spot. Great service, amazing food - all local and organic with beautiful presentation, and a lovely atmosphere - cozy, bright, fancy, and artsy, comfortable spacing and not loud. We got a few cocktails each and shared an appetizer and dessert, but in general cocktails are around 40-50 sol. Food is around 40- 80sol. You could be satisfied for 100 sol per person here but we splurged and loved the experience. The alpaca and gnocchi were delicious, the creamiest gnocchi I’ve ever had. The quinoa risotto was great. Loved the carrot cake, probably the best we have ever had. The trout ceviche was super good too, we loved the mango they added in it. The cocktails were really good, well balanced but strong. I had the black mule and red qoya and I’d recommend them both. My wife had the maricuya chilcano and it was also delicious.

From the moment I stepped into Organika Restaurant, I knew I was in for something special — but what truly made the evening unforgettable was the incredible service from our waitress, Lis. Liz greeted us with a genuine smile that immediately set the tone for the night. She struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving us space to enjoy our meal, always seeming to appear at just the right moment. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive — she described each dish with such enthusiasm that we couldn’t help but try her recommendations. And she was absolutely spot-on! The food itself was a perfect reflection of Organika’s name — fresh, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. From the first appetizer to the last bite of dessert, everything tasted as though it had been made with care and creativity. What stood out most, though, was Lis’s warmth and professionalism. She made us feel genuinely welcome, remembered small details about our preferences, and created an experience that felt personal and memorable. It’s rare to find someone who turns a great meal into an exceptional one, but Lis did exactly that. I left Organika feeling not just satisfied, but truly happy — the kind of feeling that comes from being cared for and enjoying something special. I can’t wait to come back, and I’ll definitely be asking for Lis again!

The perfect spot for those looking for picture-perfect dishes. With a farm-to-table concept, it offers creative plates made from local ingredients sourced from its own garden and nearby producers. Light yet flavorful, healthy, and beautifully presented options await—grilled alpaca, sweet potato gnocchi, and plates adorned with edible flowers.

Such a cosy restaurant with a warm and inviting atmosphere — the interior made us feel cozy and comfortable. The background music sets just the right mood, and the service is impressively quick without ever feeling rushed. The staff were attentive and friendly, and we even received a delicious appetizer from the house. The drinks were a highlight — both the homemade ice tea and kombucha were super tasty. The ingredients in every dish really stand out, with plenty of great vegetarian options, all beautifully presented and full of flavour. Dessert was a real surprise — the rucola tiramisu amazed us! Special thanks to our waiter Liz, who was exceptionally kind and attentive throughout. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you get. A wonderful spot for a relaxed evening out — highly recommended!

Restaurant
Inkazuela is a popular restaurant in Cusco known for its specialty stews. The menu, displayed on a large chalkboard, offers a variety of starters and traditional soups served in generous portions. Visitors praise the cozy atmosphere and professional service, with particular appreciation for the English-speaking staff. Diners recommend trying the alpaca stew and spicy beef stew, highlighting them as some of the best dishes they've had in Peru.
Excellent food. Great service, Cesar was very friendly, describing options on the menu. Third visit to Inkazuela, very kind and professional service provided by Rocky. Amazing and delicious meals.

Sharing hearty bowls of chicken-hen soup and tender veal oxtail stew — washed down with a sweet mocktail. Every spoonful tasted better together. ❤️✨ — all absolutely delicious! Excellent service by César made the meal even better 🇵🇪💛

I was recommended the ají de gallina from here by the chef that taught a cooking class I took. It did not disappoint. Wow the service was excellent, I sat at one of their window seats, and I will be thinking about the food for the foreseeable future!!!!

We had the most amazing time and food here! This was the best food we’ve had so far and as a great rate. We can’t recommend this enough!

We've ordered Lamb Shack and Inkazuela Adobo de Cerdo. Yummy! Friendly and polite staff. Fair price. Nice view spot from the window table

It pains me to have to leave Inkazuela a 3-star review, but our experience here was vastly underwhelming compared to other reviews. We came here twice. The first time, my parents ordered the trout and alpaca stew. Their dishes were stellar while my stewed cuy was a small portion (which, I admit, I was warned about - it was even smaller than I thought however) with a lot of small bones and unpleasant, chewy skin. It also lacked flavor other than the sauce. The “veggie ceviche” is delicious and worth ordering. The service from Jhoel and Wilson, however, was attentive and stellar. On our second visit, we arrived about 40 minutes before closing and the service was far less warm. My alpaca tenderloin with gooseberries and quinoa was stellar while my mom’s veal tail stew was undercooked and chewy. It did not fall off the bone and needed to be put on a plate in order to cut off the meat. The atmosphere is also a bit odd. The restaurant is decorated lovely, but uncensored Western music (like Ke$ha) plays nonstop from the speakers at an unreasonable volume. Overall, maybe worth one visit if you have more than 4 days in Cusco, otherwise I’d sadly suggest a pass until their quality across all dishes improves.
Peter B — Google review
The food was very good! They also have vegetarian options available, try the gnocchi made with sweet potato you won't regret it! The alpaca and red wine stew was tender and delicious.

Came for the ratings and the view, maybe they changed the chef today, food was good but not noteworthy, looked like in Kindergarten, could have cooked way better, too expensive for what you get, sorry guys, all the best for you 🙏🏼

The Meeting Place Cafe in Cusco is a charming spot run by volunteers, with profits going to local charities. The cafe has a lovely courtyard where you can work and network with a friendly crowd. It mainly serves American-style breakfast until 4pm, offering delicious waffles, smoothies, and sausage and egg breakfasts. They also serve the yummiest chai tea in Cusco along with various coffees and specialty teas.
Our family stopped in a few days ago for morning tea after hiking the archilogical zone. We shared some waffles. My kids loved the Oreo waffle while the adults has strawberry and banana. The place is small but comfortable and has boardgames available to play while you wait.

We passed here on a stroll to Saqsaywaman. We had the most amazing hand made waffles. The owner was great and lovely to chat to. A brilliant little cafe and definitely worth a visit if in the area.
Melissa C — Google review
The owner is a great. I came here 3 times as it was close to hotel. The food was great 2 of 3 times. I went later in the evening and the burger the 2nd time wasn’t as good as the first time. So maybe the afternoons are better for food. Also, the chicken quinoa soup was excellent with a little added picante.

Delicious food and drinks, and very friendly staff. Very small, but nice atmosphere. The chef and waitress were both very friendly. Chef confirmed any allergens and was willing to adapt things as required. Reasonable menu selection. Not too expensive. Excellent smoothies and milkshakes.

A great breakfast/brunch spot! Yaz was fantastic - very friendly and welcoming, and food was delicious with great portion sizes.

Lovely little cafe in Cusco. I got the Spicy lover breakfast, it was delicious and the service was so good! Definitely would recommend!
Dionne M — Google review
I LOVE this little place. Best coffee, best breakfast and lunch options, best pasties and pies that you can enjoy in a beautiful environment. You will most likely meet Yas (short for Yasmani), who is such a nice human being. It helps that he speaks English fluently, and he is always smiling and recommending items on his menus.. I can’t recommend this place enough. So peaceful, such a pleasure to come here everyday since I arrived

This place was so good! Extremely friendly owner and super tasty food…all for a great price. We ate here three times during our time in Cusco. We loved the waffles with fruit. Highly recommend!
