The Inca Trail is a life-changing experience, considered one of the best walks globally, offering breathtaking landscapes with mountains, rivers, and Inca sites. It requires good physical condition but promises a wonderful adventure. For those seeking an alternative to walking the entire trail, options like the 3 Day or 2 Day Inca Trail Tours are available. Families can also enjoy this trek with children by taking strategic stops and teaching them about the history of the trail while exploring ancient ruins.
This is an absolutely fantastic hike and worth every penny (we did the 4-day Inca Trail). I highly recommend Inca Trail Machu as a guide service. They provided a great experience from pickup to drop off and everything in between. A few things I loved about them are: First, Julio, our guide, was great. He was friendly and knowledgeable and made you laugh and feel good during the rougher part of the hike. He also helped us get home when some protestors disrupted the train service. We had multiple trains that were canceled, standing a lot of tourists, and we weren’t sure if we were going to get stuck in Aguas Calientes for the night. While we waited, Julio helped us find a restaurant that had a shower we could use, we hung out and had dinner and some local drinks, and then he went to the train station to help us navigate the mayhem of trying to secure one of the final seats out that night (people in Peru don’t wait politely in lines, FYI). Next is the small groups. Some of the other guide services had 10+ people in their groups, while we had 6 (I think they top out at 8 people). The group consisted of my girlfriend and I and a group of 4 Dutch guys who were childhood friends. This created an extremely personal experience as we had a small group for meals, and during the hike while not having to wait on stragglers. As the 4 Dutch guys were fine being on their own and preferred to run the trail, this left Julio with my girlfriend and I to walk as our own kind of private tour for long stretches. It also allowed us to move faster on the final morning to make our way to the Sun Gate and Machu Picchu before the other larger groups, allowing us to get less crowded pictures and views. The porters and cooks were also top-notch. I think I ate better on the trail than I do at home. The creations of meals that were served were unique and tasty. I would have been impressed at a restaurant, let alone on a trail miles from the nearest store, they even had a surprise for the final meal, I won’t ruin it but it was insane they could make it and it was super tasty. The porter gently woke you up every morning with some coca tea if you wanted, and then while you ate, they packed up your tent, when you arrived at the campsite for the night, your tent was waiting for you, and you could crawl in and relax while dinner was being cooked. The tents were spacious for you, and a +1 with both your gear, we did not feel cramped. Also, the sleeping bags and pillows were comfortable, allowing for a peaceful sleep throughout the night. Make sure to book the Huayna Picchu tour as this is a separate ticket that allows you to climb even higher to a guard tower that overlooks the city. It is incredible. I’m extremely afraid of heights and part of the climb is a little scary but totally worth it. I would also recommend using the provided walking sticks (note you can’t bring them into the city so I’d use theirs over your own as you can turn them in before you enter) as they help not only on the uphill but also going down the stone steps when wet. Make sure you bring cash on the trail to tip the porters, as they will leave before you enter the city and you won’t have time to get to an ATM. These guys turn and burn to get back and do the hike again with another group. They are awesome and deserve the tips!

I highly recommend the company Inca Trail Machu The service was excellent in every way. My high expectations were met and even exceeded. Should have 6 stars. Our guide Josias was exceptional. He was well organized and very helpful when some people got sick and was willing to do whatever it took to help us make it. The chef and porters all did an excellent job. It was amazing to have such good meals on the trail. I recommend the 5 day Trek. We hiked the standard 4 days and we tour circuit 1. However, we were very tired by then and it was nice to have the extra day to rest and finish tour circuit 2 Machu Picchu and the mountain the next day. We had a very good trek...

We did the 2-day Inca Trail and we were extremely happy with the office interaction/support and our guide, Daniel. They organized a short briefing before the trip, which was useful and stored our other luggage during our trip. Everything worked out great, our guide gave very interesting information in a didactically good manner and provided a very good mixture of independence and guidance; we were super-happy how all that turned out. Hotel and dinner in Aguas Calientes were also of good quality.

10/10 would recommend booking with Inca tours. They were a great company to work with and our guide Bernabe is the best there is. He and the porters went above and beyond what we expected and made this experience a trip of a lifetime. We chose to do a 3 day / 2-night trip. We picked this because of our tight timeline. Although, if time permits, I suggest taking your time and doing it in 4 or 5 days. We are backpackers from Colorado and 3 days on the Inca Trail was difficult especially day 1. Our guide Bernabe met us the night before and ran us through the itinerary. We initially thought we booked a tour that included other groups but turned out to be just my wife and I. This made the hiking much more enjoyable. Our small group let us move quickly which was nice to put some distance between us and other large tour groups. This made our experience feel a little more isolated and remote which we really enjoyed. Bernabe taught us all about the Inca ruins along the trail. He had insightful knowledge about the Inca people, history and of the local botany. The second night at camp, we found ourselves unable to take our eyes off the sun set. We found ourselves in a moment of self-reflection and gratitude high above the clouds watching the sun set on Huayna Picchu. This day happened to be my wife's birthday which made it extra special. After another beautifully prepared and diverse meal. Bernabe tells us our chef prepared a BIRTHDAY CAKE! They brought out a cake and we ate cake with our porters. It was a birthday for the books. The next morning, we made it to Machu Pichu around 8am and took amazing photos from the upper level before walking through Machu Pichu. This experience would not have been possible without our team of porters who are the real MVP's, these men work so hard and were so friendly. This entire trip we felt a deep respect, privilege and honor to be hiking through these mountains. In a somber moment we gave thanks to the pacha mamma for all she provides. As we finished, the clouds cleared and the sun shone down on us, another serendipitous moment along the trail. For us this trek was why we came to Peru, Machu Pichu was the cherry on top. The Inca Trail was on our bucket list and it did not disappoint. We are so thankful for Bernabe and the team of porters for sharing this experience with us and making it come true.

Came here with a a group on the 4 day hike and was not disappointed. First thing to do is to acclimatise yourself to the altitude - it took me 3 days. Also, take hiking sticks as it’s much easier - especially downhill. Take ponchos with you as you will get rain in the cloud forest and it’s the easiest thing to use and to dry afterwards. You pass a number of really beautiful Inca cities wh I build you up to the final view - Macchu Picchu. An awesome experience

We loved our 4 day Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu with Danny aka Papa Llama. You should definitely use this company and I hope you get Danny Papa Llama as your guide!
Lily K — Google review
This is the most amazing experience ever. It is not easy it is hard but so enjoyable and satisfying when you get to Machu Picchu. We went with g adventures in a small group and this company and the team who looked after us were the best. If you get the chance to do this, go.
Lorna O — Google review
We had a fantastic 2 day trip. Nico was our guide and he was great! He had extensive knowledge about the flora and fauna in the area, and also provided us with tons of in depth descriptions about the Inca's and how they lived and farmed in the area. He was also very patient with us. We definitely felt the altitude on the hike, but are very glad we chose to do the hike instead of just taking the train + bus in to see Machu Picchu. Coming over the sun gate and seeing it for the first time was magical. We were given a bag to carry our lunch in, it was from a town in Ollantaytambo and was delicious (also looked to be a better lunch than many others on the trail). It was a fairly pricey 2 days, but something to be done once in a life time. Would definitely recommend, and I would book with Inca Trail Machu again!

Embarking on the Choquequirao Trek is an unforgettable adventure that immerses you in the breathtaking beauty and rich history of the Inca civilization. This 4-day, 3-night journey leads you to the lesser-known archaeological site of Choquequirao, often referred to as Machu Picchu's sister due to its striking architectural similarities. Unlike its more famous counterpart, Choquequirao remains relatively untouched by mass tourism, welcoming only about 30 visitors daily.

The Ausangate Trek is a challenging yet rewarding trail that takes hikers through some of the most remote and stunning landscapes in Peru. Starting from the village of Tinqui, this 70km trek typically takes 4-5 days to complete and offers panoramic views of the Peruvian Andes, including the impressive Nevado de Ausangate peak.
We had an amazing time hiking to Rainbow Mountain with our guide ibrahim; he was very patient and well informed about the area. The driver was great as well. Food and tickets were well organized; we did not have to stop as the other people did. We also arrived early to the view point, and we did not meet a lot of people, which was great to enjoy the tour as much as we could. 10/10 for these guys; it's worth it!

Rainbow Mountain, also known as Montana de Siete Colores, is a must-see day trip from Cusco, Peru. This natural wonder features stunning rainbow-like marbling on its surface caused by mineral deposits. The site has gained immense popularity among travelers in recent years due to its Instagram fame and the revelation of its hidden beauty in 2013.
The Rainbow Mountains, also known as Vinicunca, is a mountain in the Andes of Peru that is famous for its unique colors. The mountain is 5,200 meters (17,100 ft) above sea level and has a marbled effect with layers of gold, lavender, red, and turquoise. The mountain's mineralogy, weathering, environmental conditions, and sedimentary deposits have created the marbling effect.

Embark on an unforgettable journey with the Huchuy Qosqo Trek, a hidden gem just a day's hike from Cusco. This scenic route takes you from the imperial city to the breathtaking Sacred Valley, where you'll encounter the remarkable archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo. As you trek through diverse landscapes, including high-altitude savannahs and lush farmland, you'll be treated to stunning views of Tambomachay and have delightful encounters with llamas and alpacas along the way.
(Translated by Google) I camped with a group for 3 days, the experience was incredible. The walk to the top is quite easy, but be careful with the time, in case you arrive late and it starts to get dark, keep in mind that everything turns completely black and you cannot see, you can easily get lost. For the camp I recommend wearing a lot of sunscreen, the sun in Cusco burns strongly. Wear very warm clothes for the nights, it is quite cold. The rains are unpredictable at times, so be careful with your belongings, tent, shoes, you don't want to be wet and cold. During the day the sun is strong and it is hot, it is always good to wear clothing made of synthetic fabric so that it dries quickly from sweat; If it has UV protection even better.

(Translated by Google) A very complete and interesting full day We took transportation to Tauca in Chinchero. There begins the climb to the mountain pass or pass. It is about 2 and a half hours with a gentle slope. Only the last 10 minutes are a little more demanding. There you can have lunch and enjoy the beautiful views. We begin the descent, which is gentle and you have to pay attention to the path, there are no signs but it is not very difficult to follow. The Inca area of the road is beautiful. There is a large rock through which the river passes that is spectacular. You first arrive at a viewpoint where you can enjoy spectacular views of the Sacred Valley. After about 3 hours you arrive at the archaeological complex. Large and in good condition. There you must pay S/7 per person. The descent to Lamay is a fairly steep zig-zag that I recommend doing little by little to take care of your knees and takes just over an hour. There was our transportation waiting for us. We start at 9:30 am and finish 5:30 pm. I recommend starting earlier to have a little more leeway with the light. A long walk, but not difficult. Highly recommended More of my trips on my Ig lalunaysuscosas (Original) Un full Day muy completo e interesante Nosotros tomamos un transporte hasta Tauca en Chinchero. Rainbow Mountain Peru Travel Agency offers an unforgettable experience to explore the stunning Rainbow Mountain, located in the district of Pitumarca, Canchis province, Cusco. This mineralized mountain boasts vibrant colors ranging from orange to green and sits over 2500 meters above sea level. The excursion includes a full-day trip with about 2.5 hours of trekking or the option to go on horseback (although it's discouraged due to animal welfare concerns).
The journey to the top of the rainbow mountain was 4km. We walked bout 3km and rode the horse the rest of the journey. It was tiring, so we had to make many stops on the way. We were happy that our bodies didn't react to the high altitude. It was very cold and there was a lot of snow on the mountain. It was an amazing experience. The Alpacas are such beautiful animals.

The most stunning views I've ever seen. The hike is reasonably flat until the last 200 /300 metres about 30 minutes of walking , there is service stations along the route with toilets and a shop (bring money for the toilets ) The attitude is high and we bought the local recommended bottle of like what I can decripe as a liquid version of vicks here (smells lovely ) but it completely clears your airways and its alot cleaner there than in the city's and towns Don't bring to much clothes , sunglasses, gloves , hat and light jacket is mor than enough

So you’ll have it for yourself and your group before all the other tours from Cusco (usual pickup 4 -4:30 AM) start. So set an early alarm and do it with these guys. Only recommendation I have would be to add more payment methods if you book online (for example PayPal).

Long 2.5 hr trip from cusco. We took the 4wd bikes route, which i'd recommend. It was a very pleasant trip. Then the final 20 minures you have to walk. Altitude is approx 4100m, but you are not up there long. Maybe 20-30 mins. Then all the way back to cusco.

Pallay Punchu Trek is the latest attraction drawing visitors to Cusco, Peru. The mountain's vibrant colors have been likened to the traditional ponchos of the region. This relatively unexplored destination offers breathtaking landscapes and a moderately challenging hike, making it well worth a visit. As it is still being discovered by tourists, the area remains less crowded, allowing for a more enjoyable experience.
(Translated by Google) A super beautiful place, highly recommended. The landscapes are amazing. The hike is not super strenuous and is well worth the trip. It is a place that is recently being explored, so it is not full of tourists and that allows you to enjoy it more. It is not easy to find companies that will take you and therefore the costs offered are higher than other trips, at the moment they do not charge an entrance fee and it is very well preserved. I highly recommend it. (Original) Un lugar suuuuper hermoso, muy recomendado. Los paisajes son asombrosos. La caminata no es súper extenuante y vale mucho la pena ir. Visited in 2005 The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu  is a hiking trail in Peru that leads to Machu Picchu. It consists of three overlapping trails: Mollepata, Classic, and One Day. Mollepata is the longest of the three routes with the highest mountain pass. Located in the Andes mountain range, the trail passes through several types of Andean environments including cloud forest and alpine tundra. Starting at 2,600 metres, the trail ascends to 3,300 metres on the first day. The second day ascends over Dead Woman's pass- the highest point on the Inca Trail at 4,200 metres. This is the most dangerous point for altitude sickness, though little time is spent at this elevation and the trail descends again to 3,600 metres. The trail only descends from this point until arriving at Machu Picchu at 2,430 metres. Settlements, tunnels, and many Incan ruins are located along the trail. The two longer routes require an ascent to beyond 4,200 metres (13,800 ft) above sea level, which can result in altitude sickness, or for me asthma meant that I walked for two days, but could not make it up the last mountain climb... it was a few hours to Machu Picchu, but I had to turn back and walk back to the start of the trail and get a lift to the town and proceed to Machu Picchu from there - was devastating disappointment at the time. ... but did get to visit the site. Today I received a lovely email from the Inca Trail - thank you very much and yes indeed I would love to visit again and complete the trail. I have travelled throughout the world and the Inca Trail is by far th emost rewarding and outstanding visit. Highly recommended - Enjoy !

Did the 4-days inca trail. The trip went fine overall. The agency is cheaper than most tours, but also provides less. Sometimes that's ok, e.g. you can decide if you'd pay more to have your equipment carried. Other times it's cheap and disorganized. Most notably we asked about climbing Huayna Picchu mountain several times, before the trip we were told it's closed (not true), during the trip we were told we should've booked months in advance (would've been nice to know in advance). In the end we managed to buy tickets at the entrance, but only because we continously insisted to check when we get there. I rented a sleeping bag and was told I have to carry it (tents are of course carried for you). It was huge and it obviously didn' fit in my bag. If it would've rained I would've slept in a wet sleeping bag. Had to insist that they carry it the next days. It was full of some sort of fur that got all over sleeping clothes and was hard to remove. The rental prices were very high, we ended up buying brand new hiking rods for the rental price.

After the 4-day classic Inka Trail hike, we were not picked up by their bus at the train station near Cusco. Luckily, we were able to grab a taxi, but they didn’t even refund the cost for the taxi by saying their driver was there. This is nonsense because we waited until the last bus at the station left, with nobody approaching to us. The guide was also checked out already after the second day of our hike, leaving us hiking on our own and catching up afterward. Overall, it was a low quality tour except the food.
Meilee S — Google review
⚠️🛑Horrible travel agency. We were robbed completely. 60$ for city tour and $80 for sacred valley trip. Locally, you will get the same in soles. Be careful with the agency’s sweet talk. They didn’t turn out to pick up for city tour but still we accepted their mistake and joined the boring city tour the next day. We wanted to cancel sacred Valley trip as the city tour wasn’t great. It wasn’t possible and they told us that it will be ‘No show’ so we had to force ourselves to join. Don’t make mistake like we did!!!! Look for some other place and best is to be in Cusco and handle the trips.

Before visiting the market, you can explore the bohemian area of San Blas with its cobbled streets and Inca history. The neighborhood is known for its local artisans creating beautiful crafts sold at the Santurantikuy fair.
I ate such delicious healthy local food here cooked by the Indigenous women everyday during my week-long stay. I don’t understand why many tourists don’t eat here! Lunch with generous portions of a soup and entre for 8 soles or $2.5. Highly recommend and please tip them if you can even if it’s not expected :)

It's not just tourists who eat and shops here, the locals do too. They've got local stuff, food, fresh produce, drinks, souvenirs, and even pisco. I love chicken soup, and a bunch of places sell it, but only the one on the corner is packed. It's so good, with a savory broth and juicy chicken. There are also lots of fresh fruit juice stands, and they're all good. They squeeze it fresh, no ice, no sugar, it's so fresh and delicious. You should check out this market before 10 am, otherwise, it'll be super crowded.

This is a fresh market with a wide variety of local souvenirs and food at very affordable prices. If you're looking to buy souvenirs to take home, this is the place to stop. Even on your way to the market, you'll find locals selling goods along the roadside at very reasonable prices.

Embarking on the Salkantay-Machu Picchu trek is an adventure that ranks among the top ten treks globally, renowned for its breathtaking landscapes and challenging paths. This exhilarating journey typically spans 4 to 5 days, leading you through stunning scenery until you finally arrive at the iconic Machu Picchu. Many travelers have shared their experiences with Machu Picchu Trekking, highlighting how accommodating they are when it comes to last-minute bookings and personalized itineraries.
We did a lovely trip to Lake Humantay with them! The guide explained the history of the place to us so well even though we were the only English speakers in the group. The views were great and we had an amazing experience!

Recommendable Tour to Rainbow Mountains for a good price. The guide was really friendly and the organisation worked well. Although we left Cusco a little bit late in the morning we did come back in time without feeling rushed. The food they offered was ok considering the price. I recently embarked on the 5-day Salkantay Trekking adventure in Peru, and it was nothing short of amazing and exceptional. This experience allowed me to connect with and appreciate the rich Inca culture in a deeper way. Our guide (David) was the heart and soul of this unforgettable journey. His genuine passion for the Inca culture shone through in every step of the trek. He shared fascinating insights about the history, traditions, and significance of the Inca sites we encountered along the way, adding depth and meaning to the entire experience. The trek itself was breathtaking, taking us through diverse landscapes, from lush valleys to rugged mountains and finally culminating at the awe-inspiring Machu Picchu. The views were nothing short of spectacular, and each day brought new and unforgettable vistas. The accommodations and meals exceeded expectations, considering the challenging terrain we were in. Lastly, the folks (Carlos, the owner) working at the office were well-organized and detail-oriented. Before the trip, they meticulously laid out all the details, including the itinerary, prices, and plans. It gives us a perfect idea of what to expect, ensuring that we could focus on the adventure itself without any worries about logistics. Furthermore, we decided to spend extra day in both Aguas Calientes and Ollantaytambo. Carlos consistently supported us through WhatsApp, ensuring smooth commute between each stops. I strongly recommend Machupicchu Trekking for those seeking an authentic and enriching experience in Peru. If you're lucky enough to have our guide leading your journey, you're in for a truly exceptional adventure. P.S. If you do decide to do Salkantay Trekking, listen to the guide and wear pants while hiking in the jungles. Peruvian mosquitoes are simply malicious.

We booked a Humantay lake day trip with Machu Picchu Trekking the day before, because we weren't sure in advance how we would acclimatize to the elevation in Cusco. Machu Picchu Trekking were more than accommodating, find 2 spaces for us to go the next morning in an 18 person group. The trip included breakfast and lunch at a beautiful place overlooking the mountains, and then the hike up to Humantay lake. We are so glad they found space for us, because the views were absolutely spectacular. Definitely worth the day trip. The hike was a little challenging for me at that elevation, but we were never pressured to go at a certain pace and as it's only 3km up to the top and only one path with plenty of people, we could all take our time and reconvene with the guide at the top. Our guide also spoke good English.

I signed up for the 7 Lagunas Ausangate tour literally the night before. They picked me up at about 4:30am and drove the group to a small village called Pacchanta which is about 3 hours away from Cusco. They served us a very light breakfast then off we went to start our 5 hour trek through the mountains. You will reach about 6834m so be mindful of that and come prepared! I saw birds, alpacas, llamas and bunnies. I even rented a horse because why not? When we finished the hike, they served us a delicious lunch then we had an opportunity to enjoy the relaxing hot springs. It was such a beautiful experience. I can’t wait to return with my husband!

Excellent work. We came to Peru last minute without any plans. Ended up in Cusco and at Machu Picchu Trekking. We told Carlos what days we had available and what we would like to do and he was able to work together two individual trips to meet all of our needs. (Machupicchu and Salkantay) Everything worked out great and communication was strong. He gave us a great price at last minute. Tour guides were fun, knowledgeable and personable. We would certainly come back and use this agency again.

5 days racing Salkantay - Worst Guided experience ever Nature & hiking are my 2 big loves, I travel for. Salkantay region is beautiful, Machupicchu Trekking just made it REALLY hard to enjoy that. Our guide Elias who seemed to hate trekking made us unnecessary pressure rushing us every moment. We heard “Vamos! Vamos!” (while already on the go) so exaggeratedly often that it became a running gag. Every time our eyes crossed, he made signs to hurry up more no matter my pace (I am a sporty active person in my 30ies who hikes every other weekend). the agency stated there would be time to enjoy views while in fact whenever someone took 1 pic they lost the group completely and never caught up again - quite ironic where we were all there only once in a lifetime for the joy of it, not just as means to arrive to Machu Picchu as quick as possible. No time for (water) breaks. After the bad food, I happened to have diarrhea (another participant got food poisoning from it, too) which made me silently suffer a bit at times but actually still pull through. THE chance for our guide to want to sell me a horse. While walking he kept by my side asking about tomorrow already, threatening that it will get even worse and harder, doubting me that I could really make it?! Instead of just letting me enjoy the hike in that moment. My friend felt so rushed by the guide that he hurt his knees running downhill and then had to take a horse / cab and miss out the hiking experience he was looking for. The horse was offered to him for 80 SOL by the horse owner, our guide corrected that to 100 🤡 EVERY morning we got up in the pitchblack dark. one day we started trekking in the pouring rain so that my shoes were soaked by the time the rain stopped (half an hour later) I kept blisters from the wet shoes for the rest of the hike. in this group we were bound to the timings and places to eat from the unfriendliest hosts who never returned greetings and showed as clear as possible how much they dislike tourists :/ The food was as loveless as everything else. I got served (cold) deep fried French fries for my sick stomach every day, communicating that I was sick and sensible to greasy food. The other sick guy and me chose to just not eat which is not so ideal for that amount of physical exercise. the bag carrying service surprisingly ended for day 4 and 5 so that i had to arrange how to transport all my wet clothes exceeding the volume of my daypack. If I had known I had taken a suitable backpack for all clothes. When we arrived rushed at Machu Picchu Peublo we had to queue out- and inside the ticket agency just as everyone else who did the treck self organized - no advantage to be with an agency. even though we booked the earliest slot possible (7) our Machu Picchu guide (good one Ulysus) finished 2 hours before pick up in the 10km far away hidralectrica. We still had to descend from Machu Picchu 40min, pick up our luggage from the hotel 20 mins detour and take the 2.5 hours way back - so we found ourselves around 3 hours behind in panick we would miss the transport that was announced not to wait for us and ended up running like crazy with the heaviest luggage of the hike over the railway lines, taking several cabs in order to be able to make the shuttle (which then took a lot of time and arrived way later than announced at night. Information wise was very bad organized - no communication. there is no hotel pick up by car but you have to walk / rush half an hour through the night at 4 am with both your bags and obviously no hotel delivery. every day there are extra costs, you get reminded to tip the chef (for not good food after 2 meals) there is de facto no benefit from having a guide than being rushed. We have not received any information along the treck. I'm writing this review to spare you all this trouble. You can easily do Salkantay alone, there are enough guesthouses & restaurants along the way to provide you with certainly better food.

Plaza San Blas is located in Cusco's artisan quarter and is home to a variety of workshops and galleries such as Galeria Arte Olave and Museo Taller Hilario Mendivil, offering an array of striking artifacts, sculptures, religious images, ceramics, and earthenware. The plaza features a small artificial waterfall and picturesque stairs leading to a charming spot for photos with the city and mountains in the background.
The square is pleasant, but it’s not in itself a “must-see,” but the neighborhood is! It feels more authentic, with nice stores and plenty of restaurants nearby that are worth visiting. If you have a couple of days in Cusco, definitely stop by and walk up the hill to the neighborhood overlooking the city.

This plaza should be regarded as the 'entry' to the San Blas neighborhood, which I think is one of the best in Cusco. The immediate area boasts numerous art galleries and excellent restaurants. A Gem of History, Coffee, and Color Stepping into this area feels like walking through a beautifully preserved storybook. It's a place bursting with character, offering a truly diverse experience that appeals to history buffs, coffee lovers, and anyone who appreciates vibrant, picturesque streets. The city is full of varied historical sites and diverse circuits (or tours), ensuring there's always something new to discover, whether it's an ancient ruin, a bustling local market, or a hidden architectural marvel. The blend of past and present is seamless and captivating. But what truly sets it apart are the charming, colorful, and ancient alleyways. Wandering through these narrow streets is a delight. The buildings, painted in a beautiful spectrum of hues, provide endless opportunities for stunning photos and a sense of tranquility away from the main thoroughfares. And, of course, the coffee shops are exceptional. Dotted throughout the ancient lanes, you'll find cozy havens serving up fantastic brews. They are perfect spots to relax, soak in the atmosphere, and watch the world go by. In summary: If you are looking for a destination that offers a rich tapestry of history, a thriving coffee scene, and some of the most beautiful, colorful, and enchanting streets you'll ever see, this place is an absolute must-visit. I hope this captures the essence of what you were looking for! Do you want to try and translate this back into Farsi or would you like to add anything else to the review?

There's a bunch of shops, restaurants, and massage places. If you're near Plaza de Armas, it's a bit of a hike with a steep hill, and it might be rough the first couple of days because of the altitude.

Nice little area to walk around, I came here to find local art. All of the places are selling the exact same art for too much in my opinion. We found one store selling pieces for 25% less. But when I got back to Lima they sold the exact same art for half the price. Don’t be fooled that the “artists” are local. Maybe you will find one or two unique pieces. But trust me when I say every place has the same pieces. Even the people out on the street with their small portfolios are selling the exact same art.

We did a free walking tour with this company and had a great experience. Our guide, Cesar, was informative and engaging. He took us around the main landmarks and shared a brief history of each spot, which gave us a good overview of the city. He also showed us a few hidden gems that we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Overall, it was a well-organized and enjoyable tour—I’d definitely recommend it!

Came to get a massage for my birthday. They made it very special with chocolates and rose petals. Hot stones were terrific, great massage by Gladys and Carmen. My mom also got a manicure by Yaneth. Nails look beautiful!

My husband and our two teenagers came to get a massage here on our last day in Cuzco. They got us all in within 15 minutes and we were all blown away at how wonderful our massage was. We all did the Incan 1 hour massage and we are so glad we did. I’ve had many high end massages before and I would definitely put this massage in my top 3 ever!! Especially for the price! My masseuse was Milena and she was fabulous! Definitely go here!!

Balcon del Diablo is a serene and mystical spot in the countryside, offering a scenic hike with sharp stone outcroppings, caves to explore, and occasional wildlife sightings. The location is off the beaten path, providing a quiet escape to nature. Visitors can take a guided tour to learn about the history and formation of the surroundings while enjoying great views along the way. A vendor midway along the hike offers snacks, beverages, and souvenirs.
I rented a quad and had a quick 2-hr tour to this remarkable spot. Was about 1hour riding and 1 hour walking. A couple caves and great views. A vendor with snacks, bev, and souvenirs was midway along the hike so bring a few soles. Very serene location. Very few people and dogs. Please don't litter.

A beautiful quiet walk with amazing views and alpacas welcoming you on the road. Arrive by public bus or taxi from cusco center to Saksaywaman , and walk around it towards the parking, ask anyone there they will guide you. It is 20min in main road walking uphill, then you can see the sign for balcon de diablo and u walk through the mountain until you reach the spot about 40 min. Very easy hike.

If you're seeking a unique adventure in Cusco, consider taking the Palccoyo tour. This alternative to Rainbow Mountain offers similarly stunning colors and breathtaking views but with a shorter, lower-altitude hike. The journey to Palccoyo is filled with picturesque landscapes of llamas, rivers, waterfalls, and quaint villages. Unlike the crowded Vinicunca, Palccoyo provides a more tranquil experience surrounded by friendly alpacas.
Booked a last minute day trip from Cusco to Palccoyo. What an amazing day! We met with friends afterward, who had visited rainbow mountain (Vinicunca) that same day and compared experiences. Although the colours on rainbow mountain are more vibrant, there was about 10x more people at Vinicunca than Palccoyo. Palccoyo also offers a Stone Forest, which I don’t think exists at rainbow mountain. The Stone Forest was definitely a highlight of our day. The tour operator, Inca Highlands, was fantastic! They spoke Spanish and English, answered all questions in detail, and set reasonable expectations for the day. 100% recommend!

Amazing scenery, much quieter than the other Rainbow mountain but more rainbow mountains here plus easier access
Steven F — Google review
I just completed the 1 day Palcoyo excursion. They were good with communicating with me and allowed flexibility in changing my schedule tour. They picked me up on time and the meals offered had quite a bit of variety. That's why I'm giving them 3 stars, but if I were to base it on our guide, it would be lower. Our guide was OK. He shared some basic commentary when the group headed out and a bit more once we got closer. When we got to Palcoyo, he took us up to the base and drew on the ground what looked like an inverted P with a rock in the ground. He said that the place had 3 mountains and it could take 30 minutes to do. If you felt good you could do another one after the 3rd mountain. He tried to show us which mountain he was referring to and then got out his phone and only showed a couple of people. The rest of us didn't get to see it. I thought he was going to be with us the whole way but that wasn't the case. He started to come with us but essentially we were left on our own and there was no guide/ information shared for any of the 3 mountains. We were mainly on our own and any instructions/information given were vague or unclear, as other travelers from the group had mentioned. At one point, he saw some of us and said he should be back by 11. Clearly not everyone got that message because we waited for people to come back at 11:30. While I felt fine doing the hike, once I was back, my head felt like it was pounding and I wasn't sure if I was going to throw up. I had seen our guide help one of the people on our group. So at lunch I told him I wasn't feeling well and asked if he had anything, to which he pointed to some people and said they have vomit bags (it wasn't clear who I should've been taking to but they were travelers who had just done the hike as well). That's it. No offer to see how I was doing and if I needed anything. That left a bad taste in my mouth. Overall, I'm happy I went but don't know if I would go back and use Machu Picchu Reservations again for another tour option given my experience with the guide.

Amazing pics from multiple Rainbow mountains ⛰ that you are allowed to walk on as long as you can make the climb up to 21K feet or about 6500 meters above sea level

Great company to travel to Palccoyo with. Communication was great and we were picked up on time from our hotel in Cusco. The bus ride was very long but we were comfortable. The scenery is amazing as you're going up the mountains. You will see lots of llamas, rivers, waterfalls, and small villages. The mountain itself had no crowds whatsoever and has a lot of llamas to look at while hiking. The guides were very encouraging and always checked on everyone to make sure we were doing ok with the altitude. After hiking down the mountain we drove about an hour to a small village for an authentic Peruvian buffet lunch which was very delicious. I would highly recommend this company. Can't beat the price or the experience!

Booked for a client 2 months prior to date of departure and 12 hours before got an email cancelling the tour as only 2 guests. Not acceptable behavior and could have given more notice! What was the guest supposed to do less than 12 hours prior to the tour?! He travelled from NZ for this tour. Terrible service. I can't comment if tour would have been good as the client didn't get the opportunity. Be warned! Have a back up plan if you do book with these guys.

Vinicunca, also known as Rainbow Mountain, is a stunning natural wonder located at an altitude of 5,200 meters above sea level. The breathtaking views from the towering altitude of 17,000 feet make the strenuous trek well worth it.

Pillku Urqu, also known as Pikul or Wayna Piqul, is a 4,448-meter-high mountain near Cusco. The climb to the cross of the hill takes about 3 and a half hours and is quite steep, but the stunning views of the city make it worth it. The trek is beautiful. Our guide Andy was oké. He did let us walk great parts of the trek by ourselfs, whilst talking to other trekkers/drinking chicha. We did call him out on his behavior (in our opinion a guide is supposed to guide you). After that, Andy stayed with us during the last part of the trek. The food was delicious and prepared really well. We did felt obligated to tip our porter, cook and guide (our guide asked us for the tip). We were planning to tip, but we do not appriciate it, if we get asked for a tip. Especially because the website states the opposite (our staff is payed well, do not feel obligated to tip). Overall we enjoyed the trek very much, but our guide could have been better.

The accommodations are terribly maintained and have no electricity, no running water and the bathrooms do not always work. - Water IS NOT INCLUDED. Each of us had to spend between 150 and 200 extra soles simply to buy water and something to drink. - The food they offered was scarce and had nothing to do with what other agencies offer. - They did not have a first aid kit or an emergency horse as they say they offer, so if something happens to you on the way - start praying - The transportation and guides arrived hours late on the first and last day, there was a total lack of control when it came to coordinating something as simple as pick-up times. Embarking on the alternative treks in Cusco offers a unique and less-traveled experience compared to the traditional routes to Machu Picchu. These treks showcase stunning high Andean landscapes and provide a distinct charm with their own picturesque vistas. While some of these paths lead to the magnificent ruins of Machu Picchu, others offer different destinations. Typically lasting four or five days, these treks are designed to enrich your holiday experience.

We did the Choquequirao to Machu Picchu trek. A challenging yet very rewarding hike. A recent landslide had taken out the trail half way through so had to change plans on the spot but still ended up being a great time. Carlos was great and always answered my many questions quickly. Marco our guide was awesome as well. Carlos is the man to call and would definitely recommend. And shout out to Timoteo, our cook.

Embark on a journey to Machu Picchu with experienced tour guides like Hernan Hermoza, who ensures a seamless and enjoyable experience. With excellent English skills and extensive knowledge of Inca history, flora, and fauna, the guides provide valuable insights throughout the trip. Guests are pampered with top-notch hospitality, delicious food, and comfortable accommodations. The tour includes not only the iconic Machu Picchu hike but also shorter treks and shopping opportunities recommended by the guide.
We had the absolute pleasure of having Hernan as our private guide during our visit to Peru, and we can't recommend him highly enough! Hernan crafted a comprehensive itinerary that covered every highlight of Cusco and surrounds, including Machu Picchu. He has a deep knowledge of Inca history, and he brought each place we visited to life. Hernan is very experienced as a local guide which meant that we didn’t miss a single viewpoint. We listened to all the stories he shared, making our visit both educational and incredibly engaging. Thanks to Hernan, Peru has become one of our favourite countries in the world. Our experience wouldn’t have been the same without him. If you’re planning a trip to Peru, specifically Cusco and Machu Picchu, make sure to book Hernan as your guide—you won’t be disappointed!

The best Machu Picchu guide and tours for all the surrounding areas! Don’t miss a trip with Hernan. When Google wanted to map the Inka Trail, they contacted Hernan. You should, too! Friendly, experienced, knowledgeable, detail-oriented. Hernan and his team offer excellent service and can tailor a trip and any adventures for your stay in Peru. The best!

We had an amazing trip w Hernan! The hospitality, food and accommodations totally exceeded my expectations! Hernan speaks wonderful English and is incredibly well versed in Inca history, birds, plants, etc. He and his team were always so incredibly helpful. The chef was absolutely fabulous and the food was so plentiful! The tent was really nice, the sleeping pads were thick and comfortable. It was a very deluxe experience. We had to make several changes to our itinerary and Hernan was always prompt and willing to help. I can’t imagine that any guide service could be better. This tour group was exceptional in every way! We also did a couple shorter one day hikes w Hernan. He is so patient and has a great sense of humor. The van for transportation is really nice and clean too. Loved it!!

Hernan Hermoza made this experience perfect! Aside from all of the typical things I could say and rave about, I felt completely taken care of and had all of my needs addressed so I could totally relax and enjoy the amazing views! I never felt rushed or concerned about anything or so pampered in my entire life.Aside from the actual hike to Machu Picchu, we were able to take some other shorter hikes and do some shopping with Hernan providing suggestions which was valuable. We parted feeling like we had a new friend. Best of all, Hernan had a wonderful sense of humor which allowed us to laugh together about some of our differences! Remember the Double Whammy Hernan!!!!😉I will never forget Peru and the kindness of the people.

Great tour guide .. was guiding and helping me from the first step of getting the visa to Peru until reaching Machu Picchu and having a full tour of the magical wonder of the world . Recommended for private guides and group tours . Helpful and responsive and knowledgeable of the areas and details.

The Best Private Guide Extraordinaire! We were nervous to go on this trip with Covid, but Hernan assured me it was safe to come, and yes - we felt and were very safe here. I highly recommend coming now and missing the crowds - it is wonderful! Hernan will customize your trip to suit your interests and help with everything you need along the way. We wanted to go off the beaten track and see more of LOCAL life in Peru. Hernan arranged a fantastic set of experiences for us in the Quillabamba region - an amazing lunch with a welcoming LOCAL family and then a tour of their farm. This was such a great experience. On this same leg of the trip we visited an amazing waterfall - had it all to ourselves to swim in and visited a hot spring to soak in. We also toured a coffee plantation with another LOCAL farmer and spent the day harvesting, preparing, roasting, and then drinking fresh coffee and chocolate! Amazing! And of course, Hernan is the best local guide in the region to show you the caves, waterfalls, historic sites, relate the culture today to its roots, and brings a breadth of knowledge about the local flora and fauna. From where to stay to where and what to eat - he’s got all that all! Even with all the Covid requirements to enter the country - it is easy breezy once you arrive. There is no need to retest once you enter the country (despite information I saw beforehand saying that you needed to do this or quarantine) nor to quarantine. The Peruvian people are very diligent about observing masking, distancing, and hygienic aspects of Covid. Don’t wait until the crowds return - come on down now! You may contact Hernan via email (have to write it in parts for it to be listed here) at hernanhermoza77 at @hotmail.com or via WhatsApp at +51 989 562 030

The Salkantay Trek is an absolutely stunning adventure that I wholeheartedly recommend! This trek offers breathtaking views and a unique experience, but it's essential to be in good physical shape due to the high altitude of 4600 meters. Travelers have found helpful resources for planning their journey, especially when it comes to reaching Mollepata. Local operators are known for their exceptional service, making this trek not only memorable but also well-supported.

Tierras Vivas is a highly recommended tour company that offers amazing and life-changing experiences. They provide detailed information prior to the trip, ensuring travelers are well-prepared for their adventure. The tour guides are knowledgeable and enthusiastic, adding value to the journey by sharing insights on history, culture, and nature.
Review: Inca Trail with Tierras Vivas Difficulty Day one of the trail was fairly easy, lasting only a couple of hours with just one small hill to climb. I expected the trail to be moderately difficult overall, but the second day was especially challenging. Climbing over Dead Woman’s Pass was tough due to the steep ascent and the high altitude, which left me gasping for air and struggling to get enough oxygen. Day three started with another ascent, which was also demanding, but the rest of the day was mostly downhill or flat, with small ups and downs. By this point, I was feeling quite tired, but it wasn’t unbearable. This section of the trail also offered a glimpse of fascinating Incan archaeological ruins, which were a highlight for me. Food The food on this hike was exceptional. Every day, we were served breakfast, lunch, and dinner, all freshly prepared and with a variety of options. The meals showcased local Peruvian cuisine, providing a great opportunity to try new dishes. A typical meal included soup before lunch and dinner, followed by 4 options of main courses. We were also treated to evening tea, coffee and hot chocolate with snacks before dinner, and occasionally small desserts. The portions were enormous, and I never felt hungry throughout the trek. Leoncio, the head chef, and his assistant did an incredible job. They were hardworking, friendly, and always went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. The food was delicious every single day, and I can’t thank them enough for their dedication. Tour Guide Our tour guide, Ruben Huaman, was fantastic. He was incredibly knowledgeable, having grown up in the region, and spoke Spanish, Quechua, and English fluently. This unique ability allowed him to explain the cultural and linguistic significance of the towns, mountains, and archaeological sites along the way. Ruben was kind, approachable, and always helpful. He explained every step of the journey clearly and answered all our questions thoroughly. His great sense of humor added to the experience and lifted our spirits when we were feeling tired or deflated. His positive and friendly nature made a huge difference throughout the trek. Porters I want to give special mention to all eight porters, including the chefs. They were truly amazing to watch, carrying 20 to 35 kg packs through the mountains with ease, even at high altitudes where I struggled. The porters worked tirelessly to set up our campsites, tents, and everything else we needed. Their hard work and efficiency were astounding, and they made the trek much more comfortable. I can’t compliment them enough – they were absolutely fantastic. Views & Attractions Before this trek, I had completed the Lost City Trail in Colombia, and I wasn’t sure how the beauty of the Inca Trail would compare. Let me say that the mountain ranges, flora, and overall scenery were breathtaking. The towering peaks, rivers, lagoons, and constant presence of nature made this an unforgettable experience. Although we didn’t see much wildlife beyond a few hummingbirds, the Incan archaeological sites along the way were fascinating. These ancient ruins were stunning and added a rich historical context to the hike. Tour Group My only criticism of the experience isn’t about the tour itself, but the size of my group. There were only three people in our group, which made it harder to socialize and build connections. I was hoping for a larger group to foster more camaraderie and a sense of community. If you’re considering this trek, I’d recommend reaching out to the company to ensure you’re part of a group size that suits your preferences. Some people might enjoy the intimacy of a smaller group, but I personally feel a larger group would have enhanced my experience.

Hiking the Inca Trail was the trip of a lifetime. It's one of the world's most popular trails but it far exceeded our expectations. Photos and videos do not do it justice. If you only ride the train to and from Machu Picchu, you are absolutely missing out. Tierras Vivas made the experience incredible. They promised a group of 2 - 6 and we were the only two in the group! Many other groups had significantly more people - we felt very fortunate to have a private guide. Our guide Ruben, was incredibly friendly and knowledgable. We enjoyed his company and would request him as a guide on a future trip to Peru. The porters worked extremely hard and made sure our experience was as comfortable as possible. Our cook was incredible as well - we couldn't believe how many delicious meals he was able to make out on the trail. He even made us a cake! I would absolutely recommend booking with this company. If you do, you won't regret it!
Maren S — Google review
Booking with Tierras Vivas was a fantastic choice. I did the 4-Day Inca Jungle Trek. The tour operator and guide seemed to be working for a separate company as the others in the group booked through other agencies. My experience on the trek in terms of transportation and tickets for Machu Picchu was much better and smoother than the others in the group. Booking through Tierras Vivas in advance gave me the confidence of knowing my Machu Picchu entry tickets and tourist train were already included and taken care of. Some others in the group had to rush to get to Aguas Calientes in order to get a chance at buying their tickets. Throughout my whole experience the team at Tierras Vivas were communicating with me through WhatsApp and ensuring that everything was going well. They gave me clear instructions and arranged comfortable transportation from Ollantaytambo to Cusco. As for the Inca Jungle Trek itself, it is an amazing alternative to the traditional Inca Trails. With the inclusion of mountain biking, river rafting, and zip lining, it is perfect for adrenaline-seekers. Not to mention it is cheaper too. The accommodations for the first 2 nights are basic so as long as you aren’t looking for anything fancy then I highly recommend the Inca Jungle Trek (or other treks) booking through this company.

Totally recommend this tour company!! Tierras Vivas created the most amazing, memorable, and life-changing experience to help us celebrate our final trip with our teenage son before he leaves the home!! We loved meeting with Tierras Vivas briefly a day prior to the trip to get the details about what we would and wouldn't need on the trip and what special rules there were on the trail and at Machu Picchu! Our tour guide, Alibeths, was fabulous! She has a super positive attitude and really knows her Incan history! All of this came in handy on our 1st day: the scenic Inca Trail hike! The bus ride was uneventful. The train ride was so beautiful through the mountains. On our hike, the views and the altitude were absolutely breathtaking! It was very helpful to have a tour guide who was truly focused on our experience. We were able to travel at our pace and have as structured of an experience as we wanted. Alibeths chose a perfect place for dinner in the quaint and charming Aguas Calientes, where we also stayed overnight. The meal and the hotel were included in the price which we absolutely loved. That way we only had to worry about picking a good tour company, and they handled the rest!! We stayed at a beautiful, clean hotel which had breakfast included. The hotel had beautiful views along the river and tucked in the mountains! Our second day was spent at Machu Picchu! What else is there to say?? Having Alibeths as a guide really helped us a lot, because there are so many rules and potential dangers that we didn't even have to worry about. We were able to focus fully on Machu Picchu and the unique history behind one of the 7 wonders of the world! We fully, whole-heartedly recommend Tierras Vivas for this amazing tour. We also recommend Alibeths as a guide. The guide element is super important, because your guide can really set the tone for your entire trip. Alibeths is smart, knowledgable, truly loves the outdoors, and really set the tone for our amazing trip!!

I am not rating the trek itself or the chefs, our 2nd guide or the porters. The 2 stars are for the communication with the agency. Until the booking it was all fine but after I paid the deposit requests remained partially unanswered or just answered after a reminder. The first guide we got on our trek was not transparent about the plans and was telling different stories which led to confusion. The one plus point for the agency is that they changed the guide after day 4, but requests for partial refund after this initial misorganization and also having a larger group than expected remained unanswered or denied without understandable reason. After talking to other trekkers there are other agencies where you get better service for same price. The nature and the trek itself were fantastic though. Thanks to the chefs, porters and the second guide!

We travelled from Australia to do the 3 day, 2 night Inca trail (same trail as the 4 day but completed quicker) from 5th - 7th Jan 24. We were lucky enough to get Nico as our tour guide, who was absolutely brilliant from start to finish. He has so much knowledge which he shared along the way, made the trip extra special by pointing out flowers / plants etc, immersing us in the culture and history, helping us learn some simple Quechua, kept an eye on everything, and took care of us like family. We had many good laughs along the way! The food, tents, bedding, water etc was all perfect! The second day is tough with the stairs and altitude however with Nico’s motivation and care, we got through it and arrived to camp at a reasonable time still (5.30pm). Nico even helped motivate my partner along the way, who does not like camping or hiking very much, to the extend our Inca trail experience has been the highlight for both of us during our 1 month trip in South and Central America. A huge thanks to Clemente the chef (everything was delicious and huge servings) and to the porters Ronald, Lucho, Julian, Isaac, and Mario who made everything run very very smoothly. They even made a cake for my birthday!! Cannot recommend this team and company enough! THANK YOU 🙏🏼

We just completed the Inca Trail 4D/3N tour with Tierras Vivas and had a great time. We were a group of 6 people, had 8 porters, 1 cook, 1 assistant cook and a tour guide. Our tour guide Wilian was very caring and knowledgeable. He explained to us all the details about the Inca sites, including the different theses where there exists more than one. Andres served us with excellent food creations, including food carvings and a cake. The porters were running the trail and made sure that we always found a ready to sleep tent. We didn't have to care for anything other than our day packs.
