I was lingering outside trying to see if it was open (it was past 5) and the owner saw me and welcomed me inside. I didn't feel rushed at all. There are quite a few regular Canadian themed souvenirs if you are looking for that, but also a lot of Kingston souvenirs which were what I was looking for. The store also has a bit of locally made souvenirs and snacks. I got a delicious chocolate truffle and some cured sausages I will be enjoying on my flight home. The owners are very helpful and very engaging. With a lot of the standard gift shops that have closed in town it’s even more important now than ever to have a presence like GBC around. Their items are very well sourced from many local areas. I was planning to get some generic items from another store and have them delivered to my parents when I found out about GBC through Google and Facebook. They have a great collection of boutique cookies, jams, chocolate covered snacks, pasta, sauces, etc. and the prices are also really good! I paid less than 50$ for 6 (several boxes of cookies, jam, and chocolate covered pretzels and ginger) items with a gift box and wrapping, with the delivery and friendly service. On top of that, the owners will gift wrap your stuff and personally deliver to the recipient in a very timely manner. I’m definitely going to use this store again. Just a tip to whoever is looking, this is a much better option than edible arrangements or flowers or cakes from retail stores.

I was so excited to find this decor shop in downtown Kingston, as I prefer to shop locally instead of at big box stores. I found a great faux fiddle leaf tree and tried it out in the space I was looking to fill in my bedroom. After trying it here and several other locations I decided I wanted to return it. I called several times last week to try and make sure I would be able to return it, as this tree is about 6' tall and is very difficult to transport. I finally left a voicemail on their machine on Sunday. They got back to me on Monday saying I would need the receipt and in 15 days of purchasing. At the time I couldn't find the receipt, but went searching and found it. My boyfriend took the first part of the morning off work to help me transport it, as we both work until 6:00pm (when the store closes). When I brought it in the sale person said we also needed an additional receipt that had some 25 digit code on it. She showed us an example of one at the cash, which was stapled to the credit receipt. My receipt had no staple marks in it, and we inquired as to why mine may have not been stapled as well- also why I was not told about this particular receipt I needed. Mine says "Amanda's House of Elegance" on it and shows the price of the item. I don't think it was fair to turn us away. I must say, I was extremely disappointed in the service. This item was almost $300.00. I am clearly a potential customer that is willing to buy high end items. I would have expected better service and more willingness from the staff to satisfy the customer. Though I prefer to shop locally, I will not be returning to this store. I can't see how this business could ever compete with stores like Homesense (which has a 30 day return policy) or Pier 1 (which has a 45 day return policy) with no hassle and additionally has much more competitive pricing.

They come in a recyclable cardboard pouch so for us the plastic bottles are history and the detergent pads work every bit as good as any of the name brand laundry detergents on the market and they are simply way way more convientant. So I was wondering around the store and found this really funky shaving handle made by Leaf. I picked it up and wow its a quality unit and i thought originally it was just a very durable handle for the disposable razor blades. Wrong! This is an entire shaving system with replaceable metal blades which of course being metal are completely recyclable! So to every man out there (i can only speak from my own experience as one), first off when you purchase one of these handles and blades (a starter pack of blades comes with your handle) know that the blades are super sharp and even though they don't feel as if they are cutting, they are. The secound thing you should know, as the instructions say, dont push the razor on to your face. There is no need. I know with the disposables sometimes in order to get that close shave you might have to press the blade against your skin. With this system the sheer weight of the handle and the design of the pivoting head is all that you need. Let the razor do the work as they say in the instructions. I loaded mine up with all three blades and with a refill pack of 50 blades sold at 16 bucks, well you cant beat this system for value. Even at costco if you are buying 5 blade fusion there is not one package of replacement blades you could ever purchase for 16 dollars! Seriously go down to Harlowe Green and ask Riley or who ever is looing after the store to show you the collection of razors by Leaf and I am telling you, this is a system that the disposable blade industry does not want many men to know about but Harlowe Green has the handles and the replacement blades!
