You have to have a certain level of fitness (i.e. ability to ascend and descend a fairly steep, long wooden walkway, being able to manoeuvre in slightly confined space). The price point is a bit high. You have to pay to get in and pay again for each tour you choose. I don't know that families would consider this cost-effective. I know that for two of us, it felt kind of expensive. But the site is only open part of the year, it's a little out of the way, and it wouldn't be as big a draw as the Tyrell. Luckily they have hot sauces available which help. The pulled pork however was delicious and so was the salad. The baked beans which is an option instead of fries were actually really good. Visited the Homestead Antique Museum during a day trip to Drumheller and was pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed it! The museum is filled with an incredible collection of antiques that offer a real glimpse into pioneer life—from furniture and tools to clothing, household items, and even a two-headed calf. As someone who works in the dental field, I was especially fascinated by their old dental setup. They had a vintage X-ray machine, dental chair, and old instruments on display—it was so interesting to see how far the field has come! What a truly memorable experience at the East Coulee School Museum. We had our 2 cats in their carriers , so it was great that they allowed us inside with them. This place is a hidden gem, if you are in the Drumheller area. There is so much history in this one place. The classrooms with true stories in those books on the desks , are a grim reminder of what life used to be. The staff mentioned that there have been spooky experiences , but none of them are harmful. We were denied entry at the Atlas Coal mine because of our fur babies and that’s how we found this museum. And we are so glad we did. They also have a cute cafe and a lovely gift shop attached. So me and my nephew came to visit this place to learn some of the history of the area. My nephew is 9 and this was the highlight of our trip to the Drumheller area. My husband was trying to usher my children to stay together and cause as little commotion as possible while we were there, and we are very grateful that the woman behind the side counter was so lovely to them as they chose items and changed their minds. Keep in mind the store is packed with amazing finds and even my kids couldn't decide what to bring home. I walked around the entire store probably 4-5 times trying to help my kids find things then selecting each of the 3 larger items I was buying, and again, the woman behind the side counter was amazing and even showed me her favourite piece - an Agate Slice that looked like the ocean. It was a perfect choice for one of the gifts I needed, and I'd already selected an item for the first, which she wrapped up as I looked for what I wanted to buy. As I was finally deciding between two or three pieces, I was approached by not only the young gentleman who was at the main till when we entered, but also a woman who I assume is the owner. I explained exactly what I was doing to each, and after I finally brought up my items to pay, the lady I suspect is the owner came over and was flustered in her rude interrogation of the woman who had helped me while she was trying to choose a display stand for the agate. As an afterthought, I realized the owner may have suspected we were trying to steal items in that we were pretty distracting and I went back and forth a few times, but solely due to the last part of the experience, I don't think we would return. The main attraction pieces were fun to see once but I don't think we'd go back anyway, and how well we were treated while spending $400 in the store just didn't sit well with me.
