The rooms were well equipped for the bridal party to get ready and feel comfortable. The reason for the 3 stars...the ceremony and speeches were hard to hear as with such high ceilings, there isn't a buffer for sound-thus lots of reverberation. It would have been great if they sprayed for bugs, gnats were bad in the grass, so if they would have sprayed, that would have helped as the grounds have a lot of nice lawn for kids to romp in. Also, because this event center is used so frequently, all set up, rehearsal, ceremony, and take down have to happen in one day- makes for a long day.

The facility is kept impeccably clean and you will need only to provide for your own individual stylistic additions to make your event yours. The food was GREAT and the safety of our stay was number one when the fire alarm rang in the middle of the night. There was a fire on the fifth floor down the hall where we were roomed. They got the fire out and we were able to evacuate the premise safely. After we were able to go back to our room and sleep the fire alarm came on again....not sure why but we're told everything is ok so we all returned to our rooms. It was a ruff night but all said and done we were safe! The cleaning contractors were quick to rectify the water situation. The bed and pillows were AMAZINGLY comfortable and the clean fresh smell just made falling asleep so easy! Clean room and the temp was set just right. The inside of the hotel is round with a lounge/bar and dinner. At night when we were trying to sleep the people at the bar talk loud and all the noise can be heard in the room. I wish the bar was down a hallway instead of the center of the hotel. Overall, had a great stay and would love to stay again!

We were then told that they were going to put up large bushes to hide the view to the road. These “large bushes” were thin, only two of them, and they were about 2 feet tall. We were told the outside of the building was going to be painted before our wedding, this did not happen. When we got there on Friday night for rehearsal there was food on the floor from lord knows when and it was covered in ants. There were also ants all over the kitchen. We brought this to the owners attention, she said she would handle it, it was not handled as the SAME FOOD was on the floor the following day when we came back to get ready for the wedding. Later during the day Saturday I noticed multiple ants crawling up my wedding dress and found out on Sunday that one of my guests found and ant IN THEIR DRINK. When we got to the venue Friday night we discovered they had no hot water, and there was a leak in the kitchen ceiling. The prep tables and floor were covered in water. While our family was in the kitchen Friday night preparing for the rehearsal dinner all of the lights went out in the kitchen. When we were there Saturday getting ready all but 4 of the lights in the bridal suite were burnt out. The floor in the entire venue was disgusting. Our flower girl was walking around with no shoes all morning and her feet were black when we looked at them to put her shoes on. There was also food on the floor in the bridal suite that was not ours. The grooms suite was extremely warm all day long, which was very uncomfortable for all of the men while they were getting ready. When we met with the owner for our final walk through we requested certain alcohol. Luckily our photographer noticed that the shot was most definitely NOT ready and had my personal attendant do something quickly. The stage where people are normally putting their head tables is very unsafe as there are boards sticking up everywhere. And the floor by the stage has paint chipping everywhere and it looks horrible. I am very disappointed with what we paid for this venue with how many issues we had and how things were not handled the way they were supposed to be.

Over the years I’ve come to appreciate being able to see mature plants in a landscape setting. I enjoy shopping at plant nurseries but it’s so difficult determining how a plant might look in say 5-10 years... The arboretum is beautiful and immaculately cared for. That being said, I do think they could do a much better job being environmentally-conscious. Also, their pond and waterfall are nice touches but are colored blue and treated with herbicides so that they look like something sterile and synthetic like you’d see at Disney World. We actually had one of our DJs in there doing a wedding dance for a really Lively crowd and on the other side there was a live band that was absolutely killing it for the crowd in the club side. I really love this club. Has kind of a Downtown Minneapolis feel to it especially in the summer when they have the big doors open. The theme was well-thought-out and the owners do a nice job keeping that place busy with constant promotions. I would highly recommend getting a tour of this place if you're planning a private event or if you are a band looking for a good tour stop.

It was really unique and beautiful but I felt like it would be better to visit in a warmer month when there is more vegetation so in my opinion come in summertime. It didn’t ruin the experience but was upsetting to see. This area is directly adjacent to a small lake and the terrace park making it easy to explore all of the area. The Japanese Gardens itself is a relatively small place and you could walk and see it all in about 15 minutes, however it would be a great place to relax and read a book or enjoy the lake. I’m only giving 3 stars because it seemed to not be well maintained over the winter and also due to the trash and graffiti. The beautiful setting and uniqueness earn it 3 stars for me. Please improve this park Sioux Falls! It has wonderful potential. Older photos of the park seemed much nicer than present day. I’m hoping it’s just left alone during the winter and that’s why it’s not looking great like other photos showed it.

They liked the variety for the lunch menu selections. They would suggest coming up with different options for the leattuce salad though. I wouldn’t have more than this in this building. One critique might be the way the room is laid out. The head table can see about half the guests. I’m not sure the PA system goes to the other half of the room or not? They couldn’t hear us too well, so I walked back halfway with the microphone. If you have an outdoor wedding, you also have to bring in all the chairs since they don’t have enough chairs for the tables inside AND the event outside. It wasn’t a big deal. When he was serving at the bar, he made multiple snippy comments to myself and others about how we needed to save our solo cups for refills on the keg beer. If our cup had gotten misplaced or thrown away during clean up, he rudely informed us that we needed to save our cups because he didn't have beer left, and we wouldn't be drinking anymore if the cups ran out. He also was very mean about alleviating a situation of some of the children who were apparently playing somewhere outside they weren't supposed to be. It's a very pretty location; however, following the treatment we received, I would never recommend this space to anyone or consider hosting an event there myself in the future. Guests deserve to be treated respectfully, and there were far better ways Chad could have handled things.

They were amazing, they offered to let her have her wedding there in the starlight ballroom where her reception was, and they went over and above and did not charge any additional fees. Not saying it was his fault it flooded, however as a good, responsible businessman, one would think he would’ve tried to contact her or be a bit more professional. We are from the east coast and didn’t know anyone in the area. I found the Prairie Winds on Craigslist. What I liked about them is they answered the phone when you called. I visited my son twice each time for a week over the 6 months he lived there. The one-bedroom apartment was spacious but dated. Every appliance worked well. The décor of the apartment was brown. Really brown. Like being in a time warp from 1980 brown. However, despite not over loving the style, it was clean, and rather well soundproofed. The kitchen had small ants under the sink cupboard that appeared if you dropped food on the floor and didn’t pick it up right away. But that was a pretty minor thing. Maintenance came to change the heater/ac filter while I was there, and they came exactly when they said they would. My only complaint is they charged my son a cleaning fee when he left. They said the stove/microwave was dirty and they had to shampoo the carpets. Both he and I felt that he left the place just as clean as when he arrived. It wasn’t worth fighting over.
