2021感恩节住了一周，一层的喷泉基本全天开，位置在俩楼中间，回声能上高层，白天伴随着巨大声的音乐，吵死了。早上7点街上也开始放音乐，房间位置奇怪的还能听见凌晨岛上的公鸡打鸣（巨响，关窗户都能听见），这酒店门下边还一个大缝，运气好半夜还能听到隔壁的声音...打电话说噪音太大换房间，打3次电话每次答复都不一样，最后用Broken English装生气国际游客才给换了...垃圾酒店，终生拉黑

The Royal Hawaiian is right in the middle of Waikiki. We were even able to take my grandson trick or treating in the hotel! Everything here is good. We absolutely love the historic wing and make sure to book it. We had turn down service and frankly found every staff member from wait staff at breakfast to the beach boy setting up our umbrella to be helpful and really showing us Aloha. In my experience its not accidental when staff are all friendly (or not!) as its the culture of the establishment. They are doing something right here. From the grand building that is the pink palace to the check in, bakery, housekeeping and every detail we will continue to stay here and tell our friends.

Helpful, friendly, lots of great information, just what you would expect from a Hilton property. I had no complaints with the people. However, having paid over a thousand dollars for one night (2 room suite) I expected more from the facility and services offered. First the rooms could really use an update. The furniture, carpet, and paint all seemed a little dull and worn. The carpet in my room was damp and the bathroom was basic at best. The halls and everything seemed like they had not had an upgrade in a good while. Same with the dining area. Breakfast was very good and the omlette was spot on. But my biggest complaint was that, in the only state where they grow coffee in the U.S., at a hotel chain that usually has great coffee readily available, the dining room had a machine that dispensed Nescafe instant coffee! Nasty! To get a decent cup of coffee I had to buy one from the coffee shop on the first floor. Not what I would expect at a Hilton property. Finally, the beach they directed us to did have some overnight residents still sleeping there in the morning so I would recommend walking down to the Outrigger beach if you want to go early. Also you can't get a towel until 9am. All in all it was a very mid-range property and a bit of a letdown after having spent an amazing week on the Big Island. Waikiki is big and kind of tired where it is not trying to be Rodeo Drive (and smells a bit like sewage in a lot of areas) This hotel fits right in. Again, I want to stress, the staff were awesome!

The room was big and there was a nice subtle smell every time we walked in. Bathroom was huge but could have used more hangers for towels and I wish the toilet had a separate door or entrance. The beds were comfortable and you get a variety of pillow firmness. Really nice smelling body products. The cons: My low rating is primarily due to the outrageous resort fees. I prepaid my room assuming it included the fees, but when I got to the hotel turns out I wasn't. $50 a night (when you add up all the taxes on this one fee!!), and what does staff say you get "wifi" I almost laughed out loud. Plus a reusable $1 bag, and 2 water bottles, plus chairs to borrow and towels. Walking to the beach is about 5min which is fine, but then does this classify as a resort? Why the fee? I decided to splurge and get one night at the Ritz Carlton. Booked the room via telephone through Marriotts luxury team. Amazing staff, very kind and friendly. They went out of their way to wish my mom a happy birthday. I am not sure where to disconnect was/is. This is the second time staying at a Ritz Carlton to redeem points or upgrade awards. The run around I was put through checking in and trying to understand why they couldn’t use my NUA, or my Titanium status for at the least a complimentary upgrade was confusing. The late checkout of 4pm would be another charge. I opted not to pay for the late checkout but something went wrong on their end and offered to give me the 4pm checkout anyway (but wanted to charge me hundreds of dollars 2- seconds prior). As a Marriott Bonvoy member , Ambassador or Titanium level year over year, Ritz Carlton sadly underperforms my, check in/stay at the Marriott Resort and Spa the following night. They were super accommodating with my NUA request (although- I didn’t have to use it) they gave me a complimentary upgrade. No extra charges/fees/late checkout. The rooms are just as clean and nice. Location is far superior. As a Bonvoy member and if you want to redeem points, award stays etc. Save your points, money and upgrade awards and choose the Marriott Resort and Spa.

There aren’t too many dinner options, the Italian restaurant and pizza place were both good. To get to the main downtown area for shopping and food (Duke statue) it’s about a 20min walk or so. This hotel is very beach friendly, straight from your room out to the lagoon for a beach towel then enjoy the day. Plenty of nearby bar and grills for food, but definitely recommend taking advantage of your in room fridge, stovetop and oven for quick meals and reheating leftovers. Tap water is very clean so bring bottles and thermos with refill stations nearby. Be prepared to pay premium prices for any activities, chairs/umbrellas, and beach side food/drinks.

I can say one positive thing knowing the situation we got a free upgrade. The hotel has no parking no pool no gym, when asked what what included with the daily resort fee he said beach towels and a refrigerator in the room . It wasn’t until the next day my son found a dirty syringe under his fold out bed that we decided we had enough were so grossed out! When checking out a day early I explained to the front desk why and showed a photo of what was in our room and literally he just shrunk his shoulders and said sorry nothing we can do . I advise anybody considering this hotel to be aware from a local who visits Waikīkī all the time this is hands down the worst hotel in the state .

The rooms are a bit old-fashioned, and the beds could be more comfortable, but everything was functional. The room was clean, and the towels were fresh. I would not recommend this hotel for families, as it apparently requires a security guard at night in front of the building. You can also hear the nightclub next door throughout the night. I get wanting to do Hawaii on a budget, but do not consider this place. I have stayed in Waikiki 4 different times and trust me when I say there are hotels that are the same price range in the same area (if not cheaper) that are SO much cleaner and nicer than this! We booked two rooms here and did not stay even one night. Both rooms were the same... they had stains all over the mattress (see picture), spider webs with eggs above the murphy beds, smelled musty and one room specifically smelled like old pee and cigarette smoke, had no AC whatsoever in the bathrooms, and look like they have not been updated for multiple decades. If you do decide to book this place anyways and end up disappointed, good luck getting a refund because they will refuse. 0/10 would not recommend.
