They offer king and suites too. We stayed one night. We got a discount for a walk-in reservation on our impromptu girl's trip. Now for our experience. I made reservations a couple of days in advance and we were seated at a small two-top near the entrance and host stand (probably the least desirable spot in the restaurant). There were other better tables available during our time there so I'm not sure why we were seated in that spot. Next we ordered an appetizer that never came. When our meals came I mentioned to the person serving them that our meal came before the appetizer (deviled eggs). He determined the waitress forgot to put them into the system. Mistakes happen. Now on to our entrees. I ordered the $47 Chilean Sea Bass. It's was a small piece (maybe 4 ozs) on a bed of wet couscous. The sea bass was cooked perfectly albeit a very small portion. The couscous was overly wet and the taste overpowered by the taste of soy sauce. For $1 more I could have gotten a much larger steak that looked really good when delivered to other tables. The other entree we received was the $26 cheesiest cheeseburger which was cooked perfectly medium rare and had great flavor. I ordered a mojito which had no fresh mint and an average flavor. For dessert I ordered the Dr Pepper fudge cake. It was ok, but much more the consistency of a dry brownie than fudge cake. The food and service gets 2 stars but the extra star is for the ambience. I would not recommend the Sea Bass due to portion size but especially because the couscous was horrible. Such an easy thing thing to make, no reason for it to be too wet and overly salty with soy sauce. Would I eat here again? Maybe, but I'd stick to hamburger and try the steak. I expected much more for it being a magnolia property and the price point. I don't mind paying $50+ per diner if I'm getting that quality food. They can do much better.

Ordered the Peanut butter bacon burger and tots, friend got 10 wings and fries. All the food was room temp at best. The fries looked limp and the wings were dried out. It was like watching someone eat beef jerky. My tots were cold and greasy like they had sat, not even under a warmer. The waiter FINALLY acknowledged us when we asked for the check and asked if everything was ok. We told him no, the beer was warm and the food was cold. He said "sorry about that" and that was it. when he brought the check he stood and waited for my friend to pull out his card... was the most we saw the waiter. Won't be back. Poor food and service. My waiter, Brandon, was very kind and knowledgeable of the menu items to select for me a good choice. I chose the Sriacha burger, fries and the corn fritters with a Lemonade Peach tea. So my dining experience was quite enjoyable, up until a young lady came over and begin spraying some sort of cleaning agent to prepare the tables for the next guest. I've come to notice this trend being practiced at several mainstream restaurants and for me personally, it is annoying to be subjected to smelling chemicals and spray being aerialized around guests who are eating. This is why I lowered my rating from 5 to a 4 star because of this annoying trend. Would I recommend this restaurant, yes. Would I return for the good food, yes. But I hope that management after reading this review will be mindful to their cleaning practices around its paying guest because I do not care to see chemicals being sprayed around while I'm trying to enjoy my meal.

On our autumn road trip getaway to San Antonio, we were looking for lunch outside Waco. My wife ran a Google search for "restaurants near me" and in the top of the list was Homestead Cafe. I had the Pancho Nachos, and boy were they good! A large portion of cheesy chili con queso, deliciously seasoned ground beef, sour cream, and guacamole. This was my first time eating here and I went with my bf. The employees were very welcoming, the atmosphere was quiet and it's very clean inside. The food however could use some help. We heard such good things about this place and we were very disappointed. The fried shrimp was mushy, the soup they have, which was chicken and potato was bland and disgusting. Bolgolgi wasn't very good. My bf actually threw up in the parking lot after we paid and left. The food there just didn't seem fresh, like it was all store bought and just overcooked and very tasteless. I'm very disappointed especially after hearing great things about this place and we decided to finally give this place a shot. We will not be going back.
