This is also possibly due to having eaten at another restaurant which was bloody brilliant only the night before. Starters had the prawns in the tomato sauce - not many prawns and the sauce needed more spice/flavour. Such a simple thing, yet unnecessarily complicated. As for the food: we ordered a burger, 3 lahmacuns, calamari, and a mixed grill. My son enjoyed the burger (to be fair, he enjoys almost everything), but nothing else resembled proper Turkish cuisine. I doubt the chef was Turkish. The calamari was the thinnest and least meaty I’ve ever seen even supermarket ones are fuller and more satisfying. The lahmacun was just some minced meat placed on top of a completely white, overly crispy dough. A real lahmacun should be soft, a bit oily and certainly not that crunchy. The mixed grill was the biggest disappointment: the kofte was completely dry with no resemblance to Turkish-style kofte, and the chicken was cooked in an odd sauce. Honestly, with a bit of effort I could make a better version at home. The prices were another shock: £22.5 for the mixed grill, £7.5 per lahmacun and £7.95 for calamari. Living in London and having access to excellent Turkish restaurants, I can honestly say these prices are beyond unreasonable for the quality and portion sizes served. I can get a far better mixed grill in London for around £20, and a much larger, tastier lahmacun for £4–£5. The room I had was on the 2 floor with amazing views over the channel. The room itself had a great look and feel. With a comfortable bed full bath with shower. The TV was a little dated and small for the room and bits were in need of modernization but overall a lovely room. The staff I interacted with were great always happy to help. The food in the restaurant was your typical pub grub. Cooked to a high standard. The one thing that lets the hotel down is the house keeping. There is no attention to detail from the cleaners at all. This is the reason for the 4 stars not 5. Sort the housekeeping and the place would be perfect.

Great surroundings, the building is a wonderful venue for great food, drink and hospitality! We came across this place from a google search while on holiday. We have an multi allergy toddler and there was also 15 of us in total and it was 20 mins before the chippy was due to close. The lady could not go any more out of her way to ensure my toddler had a yummy meal that was totally safe for her while cooking all fresh tasty food for the rest of us and even gave her a snack box to munch while she waited as she was hungry and tired so very restless waiting. I’ve never had such a fantastic response with dealing with allergies or having a big order. We went back a second time and was served by a male who also followed the same level of service and care. I've eaten a lot of roasts in my time, as it's one of my top 3 fav meals! And this accolade rings true. The potatoes were astounding. Crispy, fluffy, tasty... My husband ate all of his, plus 3 of mine, plus 2 of his mother's (not recommended: see picture for the after effect of such gluttony). The gravy tasted homemade and obviously had extra juices in it. Additional gravy boat at no extra cost. Well cooked parsnip - a feat which evades me at home, stinky delicious braised red cabbage, and a buttery leek and white cabbage medley. The Yorkshire pudding is one of the few I've ever finished. Usually these are dry, cardboardy additions to a lunch but these, well.... They had texture, flavour and soaked up gravy without going soggy. Lastly, the extras of pigs in blankets and cauliflower cheese made it feel like Christmas 🎄😂 All in all, a brilliant lunch. It's only a shame that it's on an island so we can't visit weekly, though probably good for husband's cholesterol. Dog friendly, make sure to say when you book so they can seat you in the front area. Four of us visited from the mainland and not having booked wandered around checking the menus to see what took our fancy. The choices were the main decision maker for us on this place as the choices were interesting and varied and caters for a wide audience, from high end fish dishes to wood fired pizza options and roasts on a Sunday. When near the sea it seems sacrilege not to fish it up and choices were not lacking. Scallops for starters and whole sea bass with rosemary roasted potatoes for mains for me and I couldn’t resist a nibbler of boquerones (my favourite way to eat anchovies). Others had Brie as a starter and roast beef and chicken supreme as well as another sea bass fillet with a chorizo and tomato risotto. All of these dishes came out in good time without feeling rushed and without fault everyone thought their food was stunning. Flavours, freshness, portion size all spot on. Couple with that some lovely cocktails and some tremendously good looking (and smelling) pizzas passing out table and yes this place is definitely a place to go. Price for 4 with several drinks and some 3 courses was £200 which I think is perfectly reasonable for the quality and environment. Top drawer, we will return!!

The food itself was one to be remembered, 3 out of the 4 of us had food from the specials menu as we found the seafood options better on that menu. The dressed crab was light and full of flavour, the whole seabass was wonderfully cooked and flavoursome (however the presentation of the lovely dish could be changed a little, such as putting it on a wooden serving board would work better in my own personal opinion). The lobster and crab ravioli is definitely one to be had too, especially the sauce it was served in, truly delicious. The burger looked and tasted like an absolute staple from this place too, the burger itself was served pink and was full of flavour. Couldn't fault anything when it came to the taste of the food or the service, would very highly recommend for a night out. My only criticism about this place would be that it isn't very accessible for the people who have mobility issues, being as there is no downstairs toilet, however this cannot be helped by any of the amazing staff members here. 10/10 for food and dining experience though, I'd definitely return and recommend coming here.

Staff are friendly and helpful and the food was to be honest better than I expected. I had a southern fried chicken burger with and extra chicken breast and it tasted really nice, unfortunately if you want more BBQ sauce you have to pay for it at the bar...this was a bit of a let down but nether the less it was very nice. Food came out within about 30mins. We will definitely be going there again over the next few days as their menu is really good. They do a carvery every which did look amazing. If I could give zero stars, I would. Our stay at this hotel turned into an absolute nightmare. At 4:00 AM, I woke up in sheer panic when I felt something flickering inside my left ear. To my horror, it turned out to be a large bed bug that had crawled INTO MY EAR. I’m still dealing with discomfort and the psychological trauma of it. My partner and I immediately got up to inspect the room and were disgusted to find it heavily infested with bed bugs — on the pillows, in the bed, crawling on the carpet, even on the sofa. It was like something out of a horror film. We immediately reported this to reception and simply asked to be moved to another room for the remaining few hours of the night. They refused, saying nothing was available. We had no choice but to sleep in the reading room like refugees, exhausted, frightened, and angry. A staff member finally showed up at 7:00 AM, apologised, and processed a refund — but claimed they were unaware of the infestation. I find that impossible. The infestation was so obvious and extreme, there is NO WAY housekeeping or management hadn’t noticed it. This was neglect and irresponsibility of the highest order. We had an 8-month-old baby with us who was in that room for almost an hour as this was the only room available out of the other 2 we had booked. The thought of what could have happened is chilling. To top it all off, we had to throw away personal belongings because we didn’t want to risk bringing bed bugs back home. I deserve more than just a refund — I deserve compensation for the property I had to dispose of, the sleepless night, and the mental and physical distress we endured. This place is a health hazard. The staff were polite and friendly but didn't appear to have any reservation for us. There almost appeared to be a problem to fit us in but a table was found. It was a little slow with getting our drinks and lunch ordered but the server who looked after us was very nice and apologised on the change of venue and would make a discount which was appreciated as we were thinking of leaving. The meals arrived and were very good very well flavoured and the veg cooked just as we like them, not boiled to bits. The slight disappointment was that our plates didn't get cleared when we had already finished our meals ahead of others whose plates were cleared. When they served desserts they didn't seem to look around and check that other diners needed service. In the end we got up and paid our meal and didn't take dessert. We did mention when we paid the meal about the lack of service which was apologised for but they said they were a bit understaffed. It was more that they didn't seem to be checking the diners progress. We still left a tip as they were polite and friendly and as we say the Sunday roast pork was very nice. Think they just need a little training to get knack of how to provide service.

The food was dreadful but that’s ok we only had to wait 2 hours for it. The location is very quiet and not too far from Ryde, a short walk downhill through the park and you are right on the seafront. You can walk into Ryde or Seaview easily. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our room was spacious and spotless. It's not the most modern hotel but the staff make up for that. Our breakfast was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. We were offered refills for tea and toast and endless fruit juice. Saw the negative reviews and remained sceptical, but, deserved a chance and my goodness me. Mixed starter great portion and nice to try different things (seaweed and ribs were lovely), but the winners were the crispy shredded beef and roast pork in black bean. Singapore chow mein is a must if you like a kick (like me) and Hong Kong style sweet and sour chicken was beautifully meaty, saucy, just lush. Only one tiny thing that didn’t suit my pallet was the bbq sauce, but that’s ok! Normally when I stay away from home, at accommodations, it’s not always 100% clean and well presented, but Lakeside was spotless, very well maintained and the Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Shower outside (by the Jacuzzi) was also freezing cold. The Breakfast was below average, but filled us up. Saying that, the Apple Juice and Cappuccino were lovely. I Did feel like we were looked down upon a little by the Staff running the Breakfast side, which made me a bit uncomfortable. I would return again, but the hot Breakfast needs to be improved, along with the temperature of the Pool. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

Wasn't really impressed as the one of the outdoor steam room wasn't on and the same with the hot tub. It wasn't until another regular member text the staff did they turn this on. No staff made rounds to check if everything was OK. To top it off I was eaten alive by mosquitos while I was sat in the hot tub without any bubbles - waiting for it to come on as the sign said 15mins. Really disappointing.

Sadly I was quite disappointed. The thermal pool outside wasn't working for 3 days out of my 4 day stay, similar with the hot tub. The 2 outdoor saunas were cold for my entire stay. When I enquired about the facilities not working I was told daily "An engineer is coming they will be working later". I understand things can go wrong but what has been even more disappointing is the hotels unwillingness to enter into any kind of constrictive conversation about a small amount of compensation for the missing facilities. Outside of the spa experience I found the hotel staff friendly, the breakfast "ok" and the hotel to be in a beautiful spot.
