The bar is warm and friendly. The room behind seemed to suffer from a draught on the cold Autumn day we visited. It was lovely and quite here away from the Sky football in the bar until a customer asked to have the telly on in there too. It was position right above our heads so not ideal. When some other customers left we moved to their table which was much more pleasant. We had some lovely food after negotiating gaps in the menu as dishes were no longer available. Service was quick but impersonal. The food, which is why we were there, was not cheap and barely passable at best, substandard at worst. Booked a table a few weeks beforehand - tried calling but no answer (Mid morning) so sent a text as advised on website. No answer / reply / confirmation for 3 days so tried calling again. Avvived on the nail at 19:00 and we had an event in the Abbey which started at 20:456 so plenty of time, it was busy inside which is a good sign and we were greeted by a young girl who asked if we had booked. Said yes but ww were pointed to a table with no reservation on and looked like the one put aside to walk-ins. Still, at least we were sat down. We waited patiently for menus / drinks orders - the usual, and after 20 minutes of sitting there with nothing infront of us, after asking on two seperate occasions for someone to take our drinks orders, they were taken and drinks arrived within a few minutes. Again, we were sat there and had to propmt to order food as we felt time was now marching on. The menu was appealing enough with each dish sounding tasty. I ordered a fillet steak, and like my meat blue - it's not often I order steaks in a restaurant as time has taught me that few know how to cook it properly. The starters arrived and were delicious, but after we had finished we were again left waiting - we even cleared the table and piled all the plates to one end stacked up ready for collection to try and give a hint, but it was only after intervention again that prompted the staff to take them away. Time was now no longer on our side, and as it was now 20:15 we resigned ourselves to the fact that pudding was now out of the window. The main course arrived at 20:30 and we bolted the food down. It was tasty enough, despite my steak being a medium rather than blue - when the waitress came and asked if everything was OK with the main course I deliberatly just took the fith ammendment on it, I didn't want to delay the meal any more as we were now out of time and to be fair, it was tasty - just not cooked to my liking so I continued to eat. When we were paying, I did point out that my stealk was overcooked for me and I was questioned why I didn't say anything - with hindsight perhaps I should have but said that we were out of time, I didn't want to make a fuss and I was perpared to eat it as it was a nice piece of meat. I wasn't after any recourse, just wanted to let them know. We haistily paid for the meal and ran to the Abbey (which we were late for and had to stand out the first session). I hope that it was just a blip on the night - the staff were very animated and no smiles / emotion / interaction was felt by our table. The food was tasty (scallop and black pudding starter was as good as I have had elsewhere), it was a pity about my steak being over cooked and if we had more time I would have pointed it out at the time (see photo of my blue steak). Will I return - I don't know, I just hope that others have a better service than we did on the night.

I liked that there was a good choice of mocktails as I dont drink alcohol. Food was tasty and quick, we had toasties and I ordered the Birra brisket toastie which is tasty and I liked the the sauce came with a nice kick to it. I did find the music in the resturant very loud for a saturday afternoon, though I imagine it's fun in the evening, it just seemed to really conflict with the families of small children and dogs in the restaurant. The biggest thing that I did not like is the move to QR codes and the push to have customers order online, my friend had selected the resturant so I went along with it but usually I do not patron establishments that choose to do this. To order food they want all of your details, phone number, email address etc, more data to be sold. To order a drink I should not have to disclose all of my details and then spend time unsubscribing to your marketing after you've taken those details. That information always gets sold and whenever I've used a service like this in the past theres an increase in scam marketing that I recieve. I think this also impacts the service. Staff don't wear uniforms so aside from staff behind the bar it takes some time to identify who is the waitress, the first lady bought my friends drink over and just dropped it on the table and left, the second one who bought mine I spoke to to ask if she would mind taking the plates left by the previous occupants of the table and she snapped "I was going to". I had felt bad asking in the first place but I think this is the downside of a "sit where you like" policy, at busy times waitresses don't have time to clean tables between customers and I imagine with it being so busy she must've felt a bit overwhelmed. When restaurants have a waitress who takes your order the food is all put through at the same time so the table is all served at once, whereas through the QR codes all our orders went through seperately and one of us had trouble placing the order so food came at different times. I had wanted to ask if I could order at the bar but the bar felt set up in a way to discourage you going over to ask the staff, tables infront of it etc. Its a shame because the food and drinks are reasonably priced and its a very pretty restaurant, I imagine its a really fun place to visit in the evening but it won't be on my choice of place to go next time.

Maybe because we arrived on Bank Holiday, the check in experience wasn’t great. Room looked ok on arrival with super view over the terrace and river, but close up, it wasn’t as clean as it could be (quantity of dust behind TV, carpet tired, some mould in shower, only one clothes hanger for example.) Our request for more hangers and fresh batteries for the tv remote were largely ignored until much later in the evening, eventually sorted by the (we think) restaurant manageress who apologised and confessed to being embarrassed by the delay. Room was not effectively serviced next morning, no evidence of cleaning, bins not emptied, no replacement of tea/ coffee, although fresh milk and bottled water topped up. Attention to detail in this respect really lacking. On the plus side - not exclusively - but generally, the bar and food service staff were friendly and efficient despite being obviously busy. 2 young women on breakfast service were especially pleasant and helpful. Amount of choice on the supper menus was limited but ok and food was well cooked and presented. There are 3 rooms, set in an annexe away from the main pub building, so not affected by noise (although wouldn’t necessarily be an issue as the pub closes at 9.30pm.) Bed was comfortable and offered a decent night’s sleep. Location is the major pull, we think, and is a huge factor in the overall experience at The Fleet.

We are sat in the welcoming dining room having a super breakfast. The staff are all lovely and very friendly and the owner was super helpful. I booked a table via their website which was easy to do and received confirmation quickly. First impressions... We walked in and were immediately greeted by staff and promptly seated, the restaurant is very small perhaps 6 tables in the front room (didn't see the back room) and 1 chef. The decor is simple but pleasant with quiet music in the background. The menu had quite a large variety, especially as there is only one chef. This however did not affect the time it took to bring our food out. To start I ordered the Prawn Cocktail... Which was MASSIVE! This was by far the largest prawn cocktail I have ever encountered, it was very tasty too, with a good mix or prawns, salad and sauce. If anything maybe a little too large for a starter. For mains we ordered the Surf and Turf and Lamb Shank. The fillet steak was ordered medium rare and came out cooked to perfection with one very large prawn on top. The lamb shank was delicious, the meat just fell off the bone, all the food was very well presented too a real credit to the chef. For dessert we decided to simply share some ice-cream which is all made in house. Again this was delicious and I would visit again just for the ice-cream! Price wise I feel that £75 is a little expensive for 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 dessert and a few drinks, but for the quality and quantity served I would happily pay that again. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to anyone, I will definitely visit again! Thank you for a wonderful meal.

The pub opens early at 9:30am and offers a generous breakfast menu. Wendy, the landlady, was absolutely lovely and incredibly helpful. Breakfast was delicious — Roxy enjoyed her toast, and I had a custom breakfast since I’m dairy and soya free, which they accommodated without any trouble. There are lots of cafes and eateries but this one stood out to us as it was in a beautiful building and the menu had some classic British choices at reasonable prices. The ladies running the place were exceptionally friendly and attentive. We had a nice window seat on the first floor, which was not too busy so we could enjoy some quiet. I could have eaten it all over again when I'd finished! My partner went for the staple English breakfast, which was a very generous portion and good quality ingredients. The most value for money restaurant in Tewks, period. Some tips: When in a curry house, try not to taste a variety of dishes. Well it was certainly a nice ice cream and big enough to share. There is a good selection on the menu with all sorts of yummy flavours to choose from.
