I don't think you can get higher praise than that. Would have been 3 nights in a row but sadly we return home tomorrow so no more tiramisu for me 😭😭😭 First night we had starters plus lamb shank and a burger.... The chef is exceptional as everything was cooked and presented perfect and lamb especially melted softly off the bone. We shared a tiramisu which was absolutely the best we've eaten and I think the reason is that they have even taken the time to flavour the cream. Usually, in this dessert you get a lot of cream but it's all plain and a bit dull but each spoonful of the tasty, airy cream was mouthwatering. Day 2: lamb shank 2.0 and a ribeye. Lots of reviews saying the steak is brilliant and they are completely correct. The lamb was cooked to perfection again and the little dog was delighted to get the 🦴 at home (she's munching away while I write this). She said it was the top bone she's ever eaten so well done the chef😁 Tonight we had a tiramisu EACH as sharing was not an option knowing how good they were. The ladies are really welcoming, sweet and friendly - they run a good bar and see to you at the tables as well. So glad we did. I had the special which was venison stew with dumplings served with freshly cooked veg and mashed new potatoes with garlic and my husband had 8oz burger which was served with onion rings salad chips and coleslaw. The venison stew was to die for. The taste was fabulous so much so that i can honestly say if you were full you would still want to finish this meal. The veggies were cooked to perfection. Seen bad reviews but in my opinion these people are either too critical or they have massively improved as it was really nice. Sweet and sour chicken balls were super crispy which I love. Chips were soft which might be bad for some people but is perfect for me. Egg fried rice is the normal consistency, could have a tiny bit of more flavour but it was definitely not bad. Chicken noodle soup tasted really good but the noodles were slightly thick. My only criticism was the curry sauce pot which smelt and tasted considerably bad but that might just be preference so I will take that as my own taste. No problem at all with this place though. They are open all day, and are very popular because of that, the great food, and wonderful service. The food was excellent and for the quality was priced very well. We had a good evening and are planning to go there again. Well worth a visit. It's a gem of a place.

So glad we stumbled across The College Inn! Excellent value, home cooked meals and sizeable portions. We had Hunters Chicken (delicious) and Cajun Chicken and our girls had homemade Breaded Chicken (out 3 year old is cows milk intolerant but there were several things she could have) and Chicken Curry with rice (a nice change for our eldest who hadn't had much choice elsewhere). A huge bowl of "proper" chips also arrived and ensured we were all well fuelled for our trip to the castle. We were quite full but did check out at the dessert menu, which looked delicious. As there wasn't anything suitable four the little one we gave it a miss. Perhaps if there had been some sorbet (seems to be the "go to" dessert for those who cannot have milk) in the freezer we'd have been tempted - the only thing I can offer on terms of how to improve even further.
