I did a bit of research first and it's actually the #2 restaurant in Stourport so it can't be bad? Strange how the #3 restaurant sits above it on TripAdvisor though. The room looks a bit tired and rough around the edges but it's clean and tidy and we were pleased they are following all the Covid prevention guidelines. The room was a bit on the cool side but at least we had a warm welcome from a very polite and friendly waitress, the service was relaxed but attentive. Our experience was great, from poppadoms through to the bill. The chicken Ceylon was superb, I haven't had this dish for a long time and thoroughly enjoyed it. The wife was also highly impressed with her very flavoursome korai. The sides were good but I prefer chips to fries and a more "traditional" pilau rice. Unfortunately they didn't have any Kulfi dessert for the wife. The drinks are reasonably priced, not that I can have much being the driver. We will try the others in Stourport and hope that the food and service is as good as here.

Really top quality ingredients and cooked to perfection . Majority of the staff here are helpful kind and friendly however. We have been here twice and on both occasions a young Caucasian girl with curly hair and blue eyes has been quite rude to us as adults and dismissive and cold to our children and she is not like a waitress/ server should be like at all . I've worked in hospitality for over fifteen years and I would always be delighted to meet new customers and make sure they received the best experience possible ..However this girl lets the old beams down really lets the establishment down with her sour attitude and unhelpful manner. We had decided to stay here for the night in order to avoid being in the car too long in 1 day as we live in Mansfield. Needing somewhere to eat with our 2 young children, this place seemed ideal. Being a chef myself, it's clear that the kitchen staff here know how to do simple food well, which is what the majority of people want these days. It is located at Stourport marina with a wonderful sun terrace overlooking the boats and also lovely inside. The portions are huge - many dishes can be shared by two people - which puts the prices into perspective. The fish and seafood is so fresh and the quality is outstanding. It comes freshly from Cornwall and I've honestly never eaten better quality anywhere and we have tried loads all over the world. I am so glad we found this and we will definitely come again and keep returning. It’s in the middle of an industrial estate and when you turn into it you think your satnav has borked - but it hasn’t. We phoned on spec to see if they had a table and the rest as they say is history. Since then, we’ve taken numerous friends here and like us they have fallen in love with the Quayside. There are not many fish restaurants in the midlands and certainly none that I can name where they source their fish direct from the fishermen in Cornwall. The restaurant opens from Wednesday to Saturday and when they run out they run out. No diving into the freezer or calling the local cash and carry for more stock. Also if you book for 1pm and someone else has booked for 12:30 they get to choose from the menu (which is written on blackboards) first. Which is only fair. The price of the fish reflects what they have paid for it so sometimes dishes might be more expensive than other times. Today, I had oysters and octopus - and it was a first for me on both dishes. Amazing.. my friends (who had never been before) had monkfish in miso and the skillet of scallops (the biggest juiciest you’ve ever seen), mussels and crevettes cooked in hot garlic and butter. My other half the lemon sole. We were there for 3 hours, we were not rushed, the service as ever excellent and the diners all around us were all looking over their shoulders as to what everyone else in the restaurant had ordered (as did we). As my friend said - she could have ordered everything on the menu. If you want a really good meal, in a lovely setting, by Stourport Marina this hidden gem is for you. If you are expecting the kind of food M&B serve then don’t go. Please note you do need to book in advance now as they are always fully booked unless you go on a lunch time. This is by far my favourite midlands restaurant and we travelled for over an hour to get there. It was worth it. 10/10.

The folk of Stourport will all know which are their favourite 'Indians' but if like me, you fancy a little ride out and want to try somewhere new then here is a good place to begin. The layout would be ideal for separate parties or groups. The entrance to it from the large rear car park gives no indication of what's inside. The staff were very pleasant and helpful in assisting the wife who is quite 'specific' in what she wants. I am easily pleased as I have a few dishes that I go for. We started with a vegetable pakora which they split onto two plates for us. It was excellent and obviously freshly prepared which makes a change. Our mains of chicken dupiaza and capsilla were again excellent. Very flavoursome and moist chicken, the wife said it was the best dish she has had in a long time. It was more of a Jalfrezi but without the heat. Both portions were deceptively large and like our starters were very nicely presented. The sides were very good, large portions which we didn't manage to finish. Finally a pistachio matka kulfi, including the free pot that it comes in. The bill overall was pretty reasonable for what we had plus also got a takeaway from the leftovers.

The garden is absolutely stunning and has lots of seperate spaces aswell as the main area. We hired a Bouncy castle and were offered to use the PA system inside the marquee. I had booked my table online for 1.00pm, we got there just after. My party of 5 adults were the first to arrive at this venue because there were no other customers there. We still managed to order before the other diners, however strangely our food arrived not until after theirs and was very late because we didn't get them until after 2.00pm! We received no apology for the obvious delay of our meals! 3 out of 5 of the meals were ok, but one meal had a 'swimming pool' plate of too much gravy and another one had too much slimy garlic butter sauce that drowned the food on both plates, yuck! My husband who will usually always leave a tip, didn't bother this time, so it must have been bad! We don't live locally and neither do the family members we met, but I had booked the table as part of a family day out as a halfway meeting point for our time together. I'm sad to say that our experience at 'The Dog at Dunley' was disappointingly poor overall. The only thing that influenced me not to give one star was the waitress was in the main kindly polite and that 3 of the meals were overall okay! Looking at the other reviews on this place they're mainly pretty good, which only added to my disappointment and did leave me wondering why we had such a negative experience! Maybe the staff were having an off-day or because we weren't regular locals, but the other diners served before us were. Guess I'll never know, but I do know for sure that we certainly won't be recommending this place to others and definitely not returning ourselves!

Been going here since the place opened and we've never had a bad meal or fault with anything. All the staff are friendly, welcoming and always make conversation. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated with cosy lighting and soft seating, only problem is scratched and worn cutlery. They couldn’t accommodate our first date as they said they were overwhelmed so we had a 2 month wait. On the date of our afternoon tea we arrived and waited to be greeted at the desk. After using the hotel phone we went to find someone to ask about our booking. We were told there was a wedding and someone would be with us shortly. After about 5 minutes a member of staff came and told us that they had tried to contact us as there was a problem and could we come back at 2.30 ? We had our granddaughter with us who needed feeding. We said we would wait as there was nowhere really to ho. My sister asked if we could have complimentary drinks while we waited. We received them shortly after. At 2.30 we asked a member of staff how much longer. We were told not long. At 3pm we were finally greeted and taken to a conservatory area with some other diners who had also been waiting since 1pm. Although the room was pleasant we looked out on to a scruffy seating area and the windowsills had dead flies on there. On a positive note the food was freshly made and the staff were attentive. With some attention to cleanliness and better communication I would have given it a 4.

Was there for a friends wedding. We booked a room which all of the wedding party were charged incorrectly for. Each person had a different price when some had the same rooms. Rooms were adequate. Ours were clean but some of the party had extremely dirty rooms. As a wedding venue it is terrible. Doesn’t look good. Jobs not completed and very dirty with a bad damp smell through the whole building. Service for the dining part of the reception was extremely slow delaying the whole reception of the wedding. Staff were extremely rude especially the man manning reception. Wearing a blue tie with glasses. His attitude stank and didn’t want to help in any way shape or form. The hotel itself is understaffed and not very well managed. Bride and groom were promised a chat with the GM who’s as nowhere to be seen. Although food was good, there wasn’t enough of it. Drinks were extremely expensive, and once again we were charged differently each time we went to the bar for the same drinks. Breakfast was very good on the other hand. Hot and fresh and very good quality. For £130 for a room for one night, we were still charged to use the facilities on sight. I.e pool and steam rooms. Facilities in the hotel were not good at all. No toilet facilities downstairs by pool. And general hygiene was not good at all. Overall I would not recommend stourport manor to get married at or to stay/dine. There are much better places for much cheaper. DO NOT GO. If the hotel can be bothered to read this review then please take note and shut the doors and rethink your business plan. Not good at all.
