Coming from NYC and been to Japan twice I think this is one of the best Japanese restaurants I’ve ever had. Seasoning for each dish was just right. The chef kindly gave me three pieces of dried stingray fin to try. Don’t be fooled by the name. I was surprised by how well seasoned and cooked it was. Moist yet crispy and sweet. It was so good that I ordered a whole plate. Service wise, I dined solo at the counter. Chef and waiting staff were all super attentive but also gave me space to enjoy the food. We also got some small apps before our sushi plate. The deep fried baby octopus could’ve been better. It’s on the chewy side. Baby octopus is a hit or miss really. When it’s good it’s really good. I love how they had ankimo. The sauce and the shredded daikon and shiso leaf went really well together. I devoured the whole plate. Overall it’s a pleasant meal and we had a great evening. Not everyone sat at the bar. Groups were sitting at tables. Parking gets better when you go inside the lot, away from the narrow lane of the entrance/exit of the lot. Over the years of coming to Oahu from SF, we would pass by this somewhat hidden and unassuming spot when going to the tonkatsu spot across the street. We enjoyed our time there so much we came back two days later. We made a reservation and though we came a day early (oops!) they were able to accommodate our party of 5. Past a hotel pool is a small, quaint little restaurant with about 10 tables and a small sushi bar. Clean, well lit with the most kind, courteous staff we’ve encountered in a long time. They were all genuinely eager to please, without being intrusive and anticipated our needs and accommodating our numerous requests (we have some food allergies and 2 young kids). On our first time, we ordered cold sake that came in the small boxes that had extra sake (!), and gyoza, edamame, a full set of chicken teriyaki, cold udon, tempura, and a variety of maki and nigiri (spicy tuna, California roll, avocado maki, botan shrimp. Food was prepared with care, came out quickly and all delicious! Our second time we tried the Maui onion salad (I highly recommend), more sushi/maki, and more sake! And the tamago (a true barometer of a good sushi spot IMO, was delightful!) Can’t wait to return to this wonderful place. The restaurant is small and quaint. Parking is in the back. Everything we ate was exceptional. Please note that all "entrees" are that item only. I ordered the miso butterfish and for the price, I expected miso soup, rice and maybe a salad. Nope. It was only the fish. Everything is ala cart. That really was misleading for this foodie. Having known that, I will remember for next time to order the side of rice. And yes, there will be a next time. Oysters tend to be small in Hawaii and not the fattys you can expect in the NPW however, these were really fresh and flavorful. We'd order them again. The rolls were delicious as well. The fried ama ebi was also tasty however I am not a fan of eating shrimp with the shell on or the head so be mindful of that. The Mr. loved the beef tongue and miso with full shrimp inside. One of the most pleasant surprises for me is receiving our beers in super icy glasses with super cold beer. It was so good and I am not a beer drinker traditionally speaking.

We found this new Sushi Restaurant while walking through Aloha Hale on Ward Ave where the old Sports Authority used to be. They have a very nice looking place and a warm and friendly staff that seemed very inviting. The order process is easy and I like how you can directly order it online. I also like that they will deliver locally. We ordered the King Lobster Roll and the Nigiri Special. Since they are new, there was not a miso soup on the menu, however they have several Udon bowls. The Lobster Roll was definitely restaurant quality, so tender and flavorful and I enjoyed all the other toppings that came with it. The portion size is well worth the price. The Nigiri Special was made for us by the Sushi Chef on loan from New York and he gave us the Manhattan special. The cuts were nice size and a great variety. What I really noticed was the sushi rice was perfect and put the whole plate together. The staff is nice and friendly and we will for sure recommend this place and all other small shops inside Ohana Hale in Town.

Our server was friendly and helpful but did forget one item which they took off the bill and apologized for the oversight. That time they were GREAT. We just found out today that they moved to this new location about 4 years ago with a newer menu. This menu doesn't clearly distinguish which food items contain beef in the sauce vs not. Ex: chicken katsu curry has beef in the curry or yakiudon still has fish sauce and fish flakes even though it was requested to be made vegetarian without any meat.
