Beautiful place very busy, but you didn't feel pushed. Plenty of places to eat, drink and sit and admire the scenery. Easy to get to from Milan got train 30ish minutes and £27 for two.

Lovely place, lots of tourists but still managed to retain it's charm. We took a train from Milan with a ferry trip included, this was well worth it and we did the tour on the ferry rather than get on get off as we wanted to still have time for Lake Como town before returning to Milan

Absolutely Beautiful and Peaceful! Lake Como is an amazing place to visit. The views are stunning, with mountains, clear blue water, and charming towns all around the lake. It’s a perfect spot to relax, explore, and enjoy nature. The atmosphere is peaceful, the food is delicious, and the people are friendly. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been – highly recommended!

Beautiful views and lovely locals. Weather was wonderful for our visit in early October. Lots of floating wood on the lake, but other than that, quite magnificent.
G — Google review
What a wonderful place. No wonder the rich and famous hang out here. Scenery is second to none. Lots of old buildings if one is into that. Has the largest street market that I have seen. Lots of boats for hire to add to the experience

Beautiful and highly recommend. Lake Como felt like stepping into a postcard. The water, the mountains, the tiny cobbled streets… everything is just beautiful. It’s calm, elegant and honestly one of the most romantic places I’ve ever been. I already want to go back ✨💗

Lake Como is a most magical place. It seems as if you are in a completely remote corner of the world, one you never want to leave from. A must visit. There are cafes, restaurants, fresh markets, olive oil and pasta markets galore. All down these one lane cobblestone streets. You turn a corner and it opens into a small square With outdoor cafes setup. The lake is a Beautiful gem, with gorgeous views all around. You are surrounded by mountains and depending on the side you are on, you have a magical view of the Swiss Alps. If you want a Romantic getaway, clean eating, with some of the most melt in your mouth pasta dishes and desserts, you must visit Lake Como.

Il Gatto Nero is a charming restaurant located above Cernobbio, offering a traditional dining room and terrace with stunning views of the lake. Recommended by local photographer Lilly Red, this hillside spot serves up elevated regional dishes and Italian wines. The menu features rich, meaty options such as crispy Milanese cutlet and tortellini filled with braised meat in a Barolo-butter-Parmesan bath.
Always special, I love returning here! Pearched high on the hillside w/ a magnificent view of the lake, Il Gatto Nero maintains it charm over the years. This cozy romantic restaurant goes unspoiled even after countless seasons of being a local and a traveler's valued spot. The service is always genuinely warm and engaging. Their cuisine is exquisite and artful presented. A perfect SPECIAL experience.

We had such a fabulous dinner at Gatto Nero! From start to finish, the experience was exceptional!! The food was absolutely delicious, and the wine selection was perfect. Our waiter gave us excellent recommendations, and each dish was better than the last. The atmosphere was charming, and the view made it all even more memorable. We highly recommend Gatto Nero to anyone visiting Lake Como it’s a must-visit for an unforgettable meal! (The perfect date night spot if you’re traveling with your significant other!!)

Food: bland is the best review I can give. It was okay-ish. Absolutely not worth the price tag. Service: the service was adequate. Friendly enough. Big problem - I had told them it was our honeymoon and ask we be seated (IF POSSIBLE) by the window or the edge. They had said to get an earlier reservation and ask for it. Which I did. When we arrived, we were the first people there. They sat us in the very BACK. The furthest away from the view possible. They said they had reservations for the tables close to the view. That’s fine, if someone already got it - totally fine. BUT nobody came for those seats the entire time. There was actually only one other table there the whole time we were there. Huge let down on the service. For the price tag, I would have expected more attention to our accommodation. Really crappy to do. Right before we finished, an hour later, one couple showed up and took one of the 6 view-tables. I read the reviews but thought I would give them a chance - bad idea. Believe the reviews. There are so many better places for the money. Just go somewhere else.

Our best night in Cernobbio! The evening in Gatto Nero felt like a dream from the fairytale! From the first moment we had full attention from staff, great sommelier advices us perfect wine and the food was divine. Entire staff made us feel welcomed and home and took lovely pictures of us and gave us a tour of the entire restaurant, even tho some areas were closed. We were treated like VIP’s. Can’t wait to be back!

Good food with a stunning view! I went there with my family and had an amazing time. I love their asparagus creme Brule and the pumpkin soup. Their price is on the higher side, but giving the location it is understandable. If you're not on a tight budget definitely give it a try! Also, if you're traveling in a group, I suggest you book in advance.

The views are unmatched…but the food comes close. We were grateful to eat here when we couldn’t find parking in Como Town and this restaurant had parking AND availability for a last minute reservation request. We all enjoyed our pasta with views of Lake Como, would def go again!
Tammy V — Google review
We were genuinely excited to dine here, especially after hearing such great things about the view—which, to be fair, was absolutely stunning. Unfortunately, that ended up being the only redeeming part of our evening. We don’t typically write negative reviews or criticize service, but our experience from start to finish was deeply disappointing. We sat for over 30 minutes with menus before our server came over to ask if we had questions. When our server finally arrived, he didn’t introduce himself or even greet us. The first things he said was "Yes, I'm ready". When a member of our party tried to ask a question about a dish, he shouted (over the extremely loud music), “Decide because I can’t hear you.” We placed our entire order at once—cocktails, wine, and all courses—and the server walked off, dropping our menus loudly on a nearby table as he left. A short while later, he returned with cold bread and oil and vinegar, but we weren’t given any plates, so we had no way to eat it. We assumed he was waiting to serve the wine with the first course, but even once our food arrived, we didn’t have wine glasses. We had to ask for the bottle ourselves, and despite finishing it during the first course, we received no wine service at all—no refills, no check-in, and no offer of a second bottle. After the first course, we saw another server bring out our entrees, only to turn around and head back into the kitchen when he noticed we still had dirty plates on the table. Our main courses didn’t arrive for another seven minutes, and unfortunately, every plate was cold. My steak, ordered medium rare (see photo below), was served nearly well done, and the chicken dish was very dry and clearly overcooked. Throughout the meal, our server made several rude and sarcastic remarks, and we had to ask three separate times for bottled water before another staff member finally brought it. At the end of the evening, no one—our server, the host, or even the manager we spoke to while arranging our car—checked in to ask how our experience was. Overall, we were extremely disappointed. This was, unfortunately, an abysmal experience from start to finish. We had really hoped for a memorable dining experience, but sadly, it was memorable for all the wrong reasons.
Kallan H — Google review
We had a really lovely dinner, service by Luca was very good. I don’t give out five stars too often, think a solid four was the right outcome. The food was good, but not unforgettable, but the views - nestled as the restaurant is up in the hills above Cernobbio - were amazing. Just make sure you call and ask for a table on the terrace, or near the window on the top floor (we were tucked away on the lower floor, still enjoyed the environment, but diluted the view for us a wee bit). Had the tagliatelle with burrata, the chicken, the vitello tonnato and the tiramisu. Again, all were pretty good. Will defo come back.

Ristorante Materia is a charming bistro-style restaurant adorned with modern art, attracting a local crowd for its innovative cuisine in Como. Chef Davide Caranchini's expertise and passion for vegetables, cultivated in his own greenhouse, are evident in the elegant presentations and unusual flavor combinations. The menu features imaginative Asian-inspired dishes using local ingredients like lake fish, paired with natural wines.
We enjoyed the meal ! We love what we ordered , the flavors are very unique ! We have the business 2 courses meal which is super worth it ! They are also very flexible with the dish as I can’t take dairy . The service is really good !!

So… With a bunch of Michelin-starred places visited around the world I have to concude that this one I wouldn’t really recommend to everyone I know. Only to those who go to Michelin-starred places and want to visit all of them. I noticed that most attention is paid to people ordering sets, which is not really fair. The wine selection is a nice one, with a focus on biodynamic, natural or rare wines. By-glass Sauvignon is not for everyone, it will have a different taste. I am in wine industry so to me it was understandable as a wine. The food was great, but great as experimental. The pigeon is served not fully cooked and even me loving pigeons…I couldn’t eat it. Fresh bird meat is a bit too much. The sweet compliment they bring in the end is delicious. We took it home and enjoyed every single piece.

We had the business lunch at 25€ for a two course meal, water and coffee included. For a Michelin star restaurant, it's quite affordable. Unfortunately, the overall experience was not at the level you can expect from a One Star restaurant. We were seated at the back of the restaurant, the room had no window and the atmosphere was sad and not welcoming. The food was ok I guess, but you come with much higher expectation for a Michelin star. Not only the taste was just average, but the duck confit was too dry and the pasta with short rib ragu was too salty. We figured it's because we took the business lunch, so we decided to order the chef signature desert which is a safran mousse with bone marrow ice and some other stuffs with bone marrow. It was "ok" but not well balanced as we tasted mainly the safran and not the bone marrow at all or ever so sligthly that it's a bit useless. The service was average. The waiters were nice, but I had to ask twice for the beverages menu and so I only had water for my starter. Later on I ordered a coffee to go with the desert and I did not get it as well. To be honest, I also forgot about it up until we were leaving. I told the waitress that I did not get the coffee, she was surprised and propose me to have it, but we were already leaving... Maybe it was a bad day for the restaurant, but compared to other Michelin Star restaurant, it's a bit underwhelming.
Quan N — Google review
It was good until we got plastic in one of the dishes. They were very apologetic but I don't think this is acceptable from a michelin star restaurant. The service was good and the atmosphere was good but the food was very disappointing. We even got their special momentum course so we had high hopes. They discounted us from paying for the long course and we ended up paying for the short course. The food was alright but once you see big plastic on the plate it just makes everything go down hill.
Rachel — Google review
A stunning experience! I dined here solo for lunch. I was the first to arrive during their lunch service and got to pick my table. Everything was prepared impeccably and the courses were inventive. I particularly enjoyed the tender veal tongue with the tangy rosehip sauce. The dessert "Memories from a trip to Columbia" was excellent too, delicious and so playful with all the different textures. Don't pass up the espresso & treats - I would go back just for them. However, I was not a fan of the pike perch. It was my first time trying this type of fish. It was prepared perfectly so it is a matter of personal preference. The service was very attentive and quick, always standing by ready to assist and letting me enjoy the meal at my own pace. They clearly explained each course as it arrived. It is very clear that everyone there takes pride in their work - their passion translated into every aspect of the experience. It was a treat to witness such art. Well deserving of their Michelin star! I took the ferry from Como and walked over to the restaurant. It was easy to get to and Cernobbio was nice to explore with benches that have a great view of the lake.

The food was top notch, as was the service. But the restaurant really won me over with their attention to detail. They even brought out surprises to sample. When we couldn’t find a taxi home, they personally called us one that arrived immediately. Overall an amazing experience.

La Fagurida is a family-run Italian restaurant located on the lakes western shore in Tremezzo. The rustic atmosphere and locally sourced food make it a popular spot for locals and tourists alike. During the colder months, expect roast rabbit with rosemary and polenta, while in summer dishes featuring lake fish are popular. Reservations are recommended, but seating is available on a first come, first serve basis. Alcohol is served here, as well as credit cards and table service.
The view from the restaurant is beautiful. Friendly and attentive staff. We had some delicious starters of buffalo mozzarella with prosciutto and bruschetta. The steak here is a must! All the food is excellently prepared.

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. Gorgeous views, wonderful food, and warm service. Everything we had was spectacular - the bruschetta might be our favorite dish of Italy, second only to the delicious tiramisu for dessert. Would recommend to anyone going to Tremezzo - thank you!!

La Fagurida was hands down the best restaurant we visited in Tremezzo. The food was absolutely amazing—authentic, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The warm, rustic atmosphere paired with stunning lake views made the experience unforgettable. It was the perfect setting for a relaxed yet special evening, and truly the highlight of our trip to Lake Como. A must-visit!
Jessica O — Google review
The view from this restaurant is truly spectacular. It is quite mesmerising to look down on lake como surrounded by these rolling hills and seeing how beautifully every building has been built on such steep slopes. Our waitor was fantastic too. He was very helpful in explaining the menu to us and even teaching us some Italian! Unfortunately we were left a little disappointed with the food, especially since we had read such great reviews online about this place. We came here in September, the perfect time for Italian tomatoes but felt that both our caprese salad and out bruscetta could have done with some better tomatoes. The mozzarella was delicious! My rabbit ragu was quite dry. I understand that this is the texture of rabbit since it is quite a lean meat, however, this specific pasta was particularly lacking in my opinion. The fish was delicious too but we felt that the salad could have done with a little more dressing. The grilled vegetables were great. We also enjoyed our Tiramisu

Ristorante La Fagurida is an absolute gem perched above Lake Como- rustic, warm, and full of character. As soon as you sit down (especially if you get a terrace table), the view of the lake and hills sets the tone for a truly memorable meal! We tried the roasted rabbit with polenta, and it was outstanding. The rabbit was tender, perfectly seasoned, with a subtle aroma of herbs and grill, while the polenta beside it was creamy, rich, comforting, just what you want to soak up all the flavors! Everything felt homemade: the starters, the fresh antipasti... The staff were friendly and attentive, making the whole experience feel personal, not just another dinner out. If you’re anywhere near Tremezzo, this is one of those places you shouldn’t miss La Fagurida delivers both heart and taste!

Local kitchen heaven! If you want to eat where the locals do, then book early and enjoy the best Italian cooking. Make the effort, it’s worth it and eat the specials. If you’re here for porcini season, then you’re in for a treat. And the rabbit is to die for. This is what Italian food is all about. Enjoy!

The menu features flavorful cuisine from the alpine hinterland, including traditional dishes like polenta, local cheese, sausages, and meat. Guests can enjoy set menus that include starters, main dishes, wine, dessert, coffee, and grappa.
Amazing food, huge portions, very kind service and local atmosphere. We took a menu for 29€ per person and we weren’t even able to finish some of it, because we were so full. Blueberry grappa at the end was delicious. I can recommend this place 100%.

Crotto Isidoro is a pearl with traditional kitchen of northern Italy: polenta (cornmeal like a hot porridge, take Polenta Uncia - it’s amazing!), local unbelievable cheese, salsiccia (sausages), meat. Take set menu for 28.5€ including starters, main dish, wine, dessert, coffee and grappe and enjoy your traditional italian dinner. The restaurant is also a perfect view point. You will enjoy your food watching the best landscape of Como lake in front of you. Inside you can see also their own wine storage. Staff is super nice and helpful. Highly recommend!

Feel Como is a small and well-maintained restaurant located in the historic center of Como. The elegant space features rustic-chic decor and a summer garden, offering refined set menus that highlight local produce. Chef Federico Beretta's cuisine focuses on exalting lake fish with dishes like sturgeon tonne, rice and perch, carp with white celery, and more. The restaurant also offers modern cuisine with options like elderberry pie with salted caramel.
For those looking for a fine dining experience experience, this restaurant does the trick. It’s not inexpensive but it is an enjoyable experience with great food - presentation and taste) and excellent, attentive service. Heater is very knowledgeable and manages to give personal attention to all of the tables. We had a lovely evening there. Thank you.

We had a lovely dining experience here during our trip to Como. The service was exceptional, with the staff providing great insight into the history of the wines paired with each meal. The complimentary starters were a delightful touch, bursting with amazing flavours. For our entrée, we chose the gnocchi and ravioli. While the starters set a high standard, the pasta dishes didn’t quite meet our expectations in terms of flavour. My partner’s main course, the beef cheek, was delicious, but unfortunately, my duck breast was a bit tough, and the flavour didn’t quite come through. However, the apple pie we both had for dessert was absolutely incredible and the perfect end to our meal.

Spent a week on Bellagio, Lake Como and went into Como town once to eat here specifically. Such a special restaurant and experience. They made the tasting menu special for me because of my dietary preferences. The waiter was very attentive and the chef an artist. Definitely a special experience as the photos show the beautiful and delicious food.

Came on a friend’s recommendation and left satisfied. We did the Forest dinner tasting menu at 130 euros. I am gluten intolerant and they accommodated very well including a nice bread served warm. Aside from the mushroom amuse bouche the rest were good. My favorites dishes were the tempura and the hare which was a wonderful texture. The service was excellent and the chef also kindly came out to say hello. It was a nice cozy place with comfortable chairs and lighting where the table spacing makes it easy to have a conversation.

This place is INCREDIBLE! It is a perfect hidden gem with six tables and definitely Michelin star quality. We dined here for my 40th birthday and it was absolutely perfect! We did the autumn tasting menu with the wine pairing, which was perfect! The server was fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. Chef made his appearance many times bringing out dishes. The attention to every detail was stunning. This was by far one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. ❤️

This establishment truly epitomizes the pinnacle of our culinary journey. My wife and I experienced a romantic yet delectable evening here last night. Opting for two courses each, rather than samplers, we were delighted by the exceptional taste of every dish. The restaurant’s mastery in utilizing local produce and cuisine transported us to an idyllic hillside village, offering a truly unique experience that is quintessentially Como Lake.

The Only Thing Worth Tasting Here Was the Bread. TLDR: Come here if you want to food that looks expensive. Avoid if you want food that tastes good. Below is a breakdown of what I ordered along with pictures and my thoughts on each element of the meal. Amuse-Bouche • Visually striking—I’ll give them that. But the cherries? All show, zero flavor. The “rice cracker with white dollops”? Supposed to be crunchy, but instead, flop and soggy, stale—so not good. And the mushroom concoction? Tasted like mushroom powder—dry, earthy, dirt-like. Definitely not appetizing. Main Courses • Faux Gras Ravioli: Served cold and the pasta was hard—not al dente, just unpleasantly rigid. Flavor? Like vomit, thanks to a bizarre strawberry pairing. • Sturgeon Dish: That gray cylinder looked neat—but tasted overly fishy, not fresh. And that green oil—maybe basil? Way too overpowering, just ruined it. • Red Pepper “Spaghetti” with Peppercorn Ash: Clearly not house-made—boiled-from-a-box quality pasta with acidic red pepper sauce reminiscent of jarred paste. Peppercorn ash? Visually interesting, but overall, just three flavors: red pepper sauce, plain pasta, and ash. Home-cookable in five minutes. • Duck Egg with Green Oil: The duck egg itself was actually decent. But that wasn’t made by the chef - it was thanks to the farmer who raised the duck. The chef strikes again with an intense celery-heavy green oil (basil? coriander?)—the balance was just off. Overpowering celery clashed with everything. Cheese Platter • Four out of five cheeses tasted like they’d gone bad (or maybe they were just too much rind?). The jam pairings? Random and nonsensical. Even if the cheese had actually been good, 30 euros for such a small quantity of cheese was way overpriced even for a “fancy” restaurant like this one tries to be. I didn’t take a picture of this but each piece of cheese was 2 inches by 0.5 inches by 0.5 inches. The Bread • The only redeeming moment: fresh bread studded with basil, tomato, and olives. Flavorful, satisfying, actual craftsmanship. It should have been the center of the menu—honestly. Not sure if it was made at this restaurant, more likely they purchased it from a nearby bakery. Service and Atmosphere • Service: Surprisingly decent. The waiter was actually funny. He was slurring his words and dropping things on the ground while walking around, but still a charming guy. • Atmosphere: Upscale but stuffy—overly dramatic spotlight lighting on food, total Instagram-bait. Tables are too close; you could hear every word from neighbors. Everyone whispered awkwardly. Chairs were not comfortable. They did provide a little hook for my wife’s purse which I thought was thoughtful.

We celebrated our anniversary with a private, intimate lunch here and it was truly unforgettable. The seasonal menu captured the essence of autumn perfectly — each dish layered with earthy flavors that transported us to a cozy campfire and a crisp picnic in the forest. The ambiance was warm and inviting, making it feel personal and special from start to finish. Every detail, from presentation to service, was thoughtfully done. We left with full hearts and happy palates. They also took a polaroid photo of us as a memento. Will definitely come again.
