It has been a playground for VIPs with exclusive boutiques and yacht clubs set against picturesque villages. The area has inspired artists and intellectuals throughout history due to its diverse cuisine, natural beauty, and international cultural heritage.
Beautiful place very busy, but you didn't feel pushed. Plenty of places to eat, drink and sit and admire the scenery. Easy to get to from Milan got train 30ish minutes and £27 for two.
Susan J — Google review
Lovely place, lots of tourists but still managed to retain it's charm. We took a train from Milan with a ferry trip included, this was well worth it and we did the tour on the ferry rather than get on get off as we wanted to still have time for Lake Como town before returning to Milan

Absolutely Beautiful and Peaceful! Lake Como is an amazing place to visit. The views are stunning, with mountains, clear blue water, and charming towns all around the lake. It’s a perfect spot to relax, explore, and enjoy nature. The atmosphere is peaceful, the food is delicious, and the people are friendly. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been – highly recommended!
Jcy H — Google review
Beautiful views and lovely locals. Weather was wonderful for our visit in early October. Lots of floating wood on the lake, but other than that, quite magnificent.
G — Google review
What a wonderful place. No wonder the rich and famous hang out here. Scenery is second to none. Lots of old buildings if one is into that. Has the largest street market that I have seen. Lots of boats for hire to add to the experience
Randy P — Google review
Magical and beautiful every moment of the day. We will find a vacation home here. The quaint and quietness is so comforting and relaxing. I love hearing the sound of the lake, the boats, the kids, etc.

Lake Como is absolutely breathtaking… from the lake to the sky to the mountains, every view is pure beauty. You have also a ferry that can take to bellagio small town closer to monza.

Villa del Balbianello is a captivating 18th-century villa located in Lenno, on the picturesque Lake Como. Originally built by Cardinal Angelo Maria Durini, it has been home to various wealthy families and notable figures throughout history. The villa boasts a splendid loggia offering enchanting views and is adorned with breathtaking frescoes and charming gardens. Its former owner, adventurer Guido Monzino, enriched it with an exclusive art collection and artifacts from his global expeditions.
Famous from Hollywood-movies this gorgeous villa and surrounding gardens are a must visit when visiting Lake Como. We took the guides tour inside the Villa which was very fascinating. It was very hot and crowded in gardens however, so would recommend to visit off-season and make sure to buy your tickets in advance.
Victor B — Google review
A beautiful estate with a fascinating walk to and from the site. Definitely touristy but absolutely worth the visit. Be aware: Google’s “mostly flat” description is misleading—you’ll need to tackle some uphill sections, so bring good shoes.
Alexander S — Google review
Very beautiful and pristine villa. Everything is very manicured and clean. It is about a 2km walk from the Leno ferry terminal. Definitely some gradients so wear comfortable shoes. This villa is home to famous scenes in Star Wars and also James Bond Casino Royale.
Falene C — Google review
We’ve photographed several pre-wedding shoots at Villa del Balbianello, and every single time it feels like a dream. The views over Lake Como are breathtaking, and the villa itself is pure magic. In spring, the wisteria blooms beautifully across the villa, creating an even more enchanting atmosphere. Every corner is photogenic, from the iconic terrace overlooking the lake to the lush gardens. It’s truly one of the most incredible locations in Italy for a photoshoot.
Peter P — Google review
Such an incredible place to visit if you are going to Lago di Como, I would suggest buying the tickets in advance so you can skip the wait, bring comfortable shoes, I wouldn’t recommend heels or anything like that if you do want to enjoy the most hidden places here. Very clean, it takes about 2-3 hours so see and enjoy most of the villa! Is a must!
Karen A — Google review
One word – magnificent. I recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid waiting. We arrived at 10 a.m. and waited about 20 minutes in line. The villa opens at 10:00 a.m. They allow only a limited number of visitors inside, which is great because it’s not overcrowded. The ticket costs €14.
Natalia V — Google review
Beautiful Villa... Looked stunning in Casino Royale! In person so much more!!! Tour is a must do to understand the last owner.. ended up buying the book about him. A must visit if in the area.
Paul J — Google review
Magnificent experience. No words to describe the views here! Do not miss this on your visit to Como. There is about a 25 min walk of up and down driveway (some paved & some gravel), might be hard for some who are not able to walk far distances. The walk is well worth the work however!

Located in Civenna, Jungle Raider Park is a popular adventure park offering a range of outdoor activities for visitors of all ages. The park features forest zip-lines, rope courses, cave tours, archery, and pellet-gun tag. With wooden walkways suspended between trees and rope bridges, the park offers four paths designed specifically for children as young as three years old. Divided into seven difficulty levels, the activities cater to beginners as well as more experienced adventurers.
Very nice and safe paths, suitable for different age categories. It takes about 30 minutes to finish each path and you can add one more for additional 5€. There is very helpful staff, having no problem giving instructions in English.
Radka H — Google review
The klettering adventure routes were well designed, safe, and fun. The staff was really friendly and engaging. Almost everyone smoke English really well and were accomodating. The food options were adequate and the parking not so great but it was worth it for the fun we had doing the exercises.

Very calm and peaceful environment. The workers are exceptional: very welcoming, ready to help and care for their customers despite they are mostly youths, am very impressed! My kids (3 & 10 years) are very glad, they had fun and were pleased. It's indeed a place to visit!!!!

Very nice place and a lot of fun The staff is kind

My children are 6, 9, and 12. All of them had something to do and it was very easy to get to from Bellano. All the staff are friendly and speak German, English, and Italian. They are all willing to help and encouraged my oldest to keep going when she was a little fearful. Out of all the things we did while in Lago di Como area, my kids continue to ask about wanting to go back. I will be doing the climbing next time as many adults were also enjoying the activity! Some bridal parties were having fun on the same day which was nice to see.
Chris S — Google review
We enjoyed this place very much. Not too many people, nice professional staff, close parking with spritz for the parents :) Must book in advance!!
Efrat L — Google review
Great park visit today with friends. So many path and course options of varying difficulty. We all had a great time, no problems, no disappointments from the younger shorter children. The park was very busy this afternoon and the parking lot was full, I had to park or the side of the road with other cars that overflowed the lot. There was some waiting in line to get hooked up and on the course, probably 30 minutes to an hour in line before being fitted with a harness, then having the short training session. Very easy to do and enjoyable, highly recommend visiting the park even though it's not inexpensive. There are rest rooms near the parking lot, highly recommend going before being fitted with the harness.

Villa Carlotta is a stunning 17th-century villa located on the shores of Lake Como, near the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. The villa boasts beautiful gardens and a remarkable botanical park with an impressive variety of rhododendrons and azaleas. Commissioned by Marquis Giorgio II Clerici, it features a neoclassical style with works by renowned artists such as Canova, Tiepolo, and Hayez.
Took the train to Varenna, then the boat and got off at Lenno. From Lenno we hiked to the villa following the lake shore (approx 4 km) This is a great hike, easy to make and not exhaustive. The only caveat is that there is a section of the hike that follows the road. Visited on Monday. Started with the gardens as there was a storm cloud on the lake and wanted to cover the gardens and move inside if the rain moved onto the place. The gardens are extensive and beautiful. The rhododendrons were in peak bloom (mid May). The Villa itself is also impressive, well curated and maintained. Overall a great small museum as a time capsule ot a different era. The cafeteria has gelato, panini and excellent beer. What else do you need beyond that. We entered the museum at 3:00 pm and left just after 6:pm. The combined ticket for the gardens and the villa is €15/p. Good value.
Anguel C — Google review
Nice museum with several exhibits. Also has gorgeous views of lake como. There is also a restaurant to grab some lunch. It was not crowded when we visited also there was no line to buy tickets. Worthwhile visiting the villa.
Jayasimha N — Google review
An absolute architectural, botanical and historical marvel of the last 500 years. The grounds of the villa are absolutely gorgeous - fountains sculptures, and perfectly manicured floral heaven. The garden is truly remarkable with how much variety of plants there are and also the way it's been maintained. For the building itself, nothing short of extraordinary - the design and architecture is impressive. There is so much history and craftsmanship behind this place.
Alexander M — Google review
Inside and out Villa Carlotta was a joy to visit. We loved the art work inside the villa. Be sure o look up as many of the rooms are adorned with frescos and or reliefs. The grounds are a botanical wonder with species brought in from around the world.
John V — Google review
I have no words. Grand, classy, green. Bamboo plants, very tropical. The great beauty of a sea of over 150 species of plants. All this is combined with the view of Lake Como, which is open from almost every point of Villa Carlotta. Very good restaurant.
Vladimir G — Google review
Must see! Great place to visit, beatiful inside, many sculpture, paintings few rooms with furniture with very great conditions. Amaizing garden around, it takes 2-3 hours to visit and see all villa and garden. Beautyful view from balcony for Como lake.
Arkadiusz K — Google review
Villa Carlotta was beautiful (the villa, gardens, and views) and informative. I decided to get the audio guide as well and I'm very happy I did. It made walking through the gardens more immersive and, at some points, even had me emotional. The gardens can be strenuous in certain points from multiple steps and steeper climbs but the shade provided a lot of nice cover from the hot Italian sun. Additionally, the property has three different routes available: whole, quick, and wheelchair accessible. The Villa itself is full of history and allows you to see artworks and historical preservation. Will be a historical place I visit again next time I am in Lake Como.
Sam H — Google review
Great place to visite. We even met a nice photographer who offer us free service. The villa is very BIG. Take your time to visit. Maybe 3 hours for everything. Most of the visit part is in the garden. They also have absolutely nice views.

Great experience for young and older ones. The only mistake we did, was to plan it for the very last day of our vacation when we were commuting back to our home. 5 hours is definitely not enough 😀 We will return to this place while visiting Lake Como next time, and this time for the whole day! 😉😎

Many paths with different level of difficulty. Super friendly staffs. Small bar with drink, ice cream and Chips with very very reasonable price. (2euros for an ice cream; 4 euros for one bag of chips and one hot chocolate,...

Amazing experience at the adventure park. Young staff is very friendly and always smiling, ready to help and support young and adults. Every year there is always a little improvement in the facility it’s always a pleasure to come!
Massimiliano C — Google review
Great Adventure. Very cool courses. Everyone will find a suitable challenge. Extremely nice and patiented staff and good atmosphere. The only drawback: I would have wished that the staff gives you a more detailed explanation of the most difficult courses. I think we would have not done the highest one with my son, if somebody had told us how high and difficult it is. I think emergency exits would be good for the highest ones. At one or two points I was not sure about the maintenance of the material. There is for sure chance for improvements but I did not identify any risks because of that.
Julius F — Google review
We visited the adventure park on a Saturday afternoon, and the place is fantastic. There is a selection of 8 different routes, which range from a minimum required heights of 110cm up to 155cm. All of them are unique and creative in their own way, and are challenging and interesting for the intended age group. There are obstacles which relate to balancing, tarzan jumps, ziplines, and climbing walls. Furthermore, the place has a bar, where you can get snacks and drinks, and a bathroom. The guides understand English, and are really helpful in terms of understanding the safety mechanisms and how to pass the obstacles. Altogether, the park is great, with helpful staff, impressive infrastructure, and creative obstacles. Best to of all, it is all built within actual forest, further enhancing the experience; a great place to visit and return to.
German K — Google review
We had a fantastic experience with our children, ages 5, 8, and 9. The staff was so kind and very helpful. We would definitely recommend this experience with or without kids as the courses start for children but get progressively more challenging and higher up.
Wendy W — Google review
A very nice Adventure Park for children and adults alike! Worth every penny!
Emil D — Google review
Beautiful climbing forest that can be mastered even in hot temperatures. At the lake it was 36°C, in the shade in the forest only 28°C. Not overcrowded and the different categories also made it possible for our little 3-4 year old son to climb. Actually you should be at least 1.10m tall, but with his height of 1.04m it was absolutely doable. A great experience for him! The staff is friendly and courteous.

I Giardini di Villa Melzi, located in Bellagio, Italy, is a stunning botanical garden surrounding the 19th-century neo-classical mansion of Villa Melzi d'Eril. The garden features picturesque trails, statues, pavilions, and breathtaking views of Lake Como. While the villa itself is not open to the public, visitors can explore the serene botanical gardens and capture its beauty through leisurely strolls or specialized tours.
This place is mesmerizing. Happy by just walking around the garden and taking few pictures. There are two exits. You can go out and return by asking the staff to stamp on your wrist. There’s entrance near the port, very easy to walk to this place. We did not buy the ticket in advance since we saw the notice in the booking website that we need to be in line to get ticket anyway. Luckily, there was no queue, I believe because we visited during weekday in the afternoon (Oct 6). Not too many people there. Recommend!
Kamolrat C — Google review
It’s a very beautiful garden right on the lake. I don’t mind paying 10€ just to walk through the park because it does take some work to maintain the garden. It’s a nice place, there’s a museum too. However you cannot enter the main villa and it’s just not that amazing overall. It’s still a great place to be away from the touristy centro of Bellagio

Nice place to stroll in Bellagio! The garden is super well-kept and even has tropical plants like banana trees 🍌🍌🍌 Great for photos, an afternoon walk, or just to chill after lunch. Worth a visit if you’re around!

Opening hours are daily 10 am to 6:30 pm. The gardens are closed in the winter time. In 2025 it will close on Oct 31st and will reopen in March 2026. Cost is 10€ you buy tickets at the gates. 2 gates entry one on each side. Located in the town of Bellagio on lake como. Parking is limited as the town of Bellagio is very popular in the summer.

The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and so well cared for. Everywhere you look, there’s beautiful greenery and an incredible variety of trees. It’s such a peaceful, stunning place to walk through. If you’re visiting Bellagio, this is a must see. I highly recommend making time for a visit.

Villa Melzi is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited. The gardens are immaculate, peaceful, and filled with stunning colors, especially in spring. Every path reveals something new—ancient trees, vibrant flowers, classical statues, and breathtaking views of the lake. The atmosphere is serene and elegant, perfect for a relaxing stroll or quiet reflection. The neoclassical villa adds a timeless charm, and the small museum and chapel offer fascinating historical insight. The combination of nature, art, and history is truly unique. Beautiful villa with awesome picture opportunities along the lakeside. The garden is very beautiful. Staff is great. We had tickets and were standing in the line, upon showing them to staff they let us through the side. The staff at the museum was also great, showing us what the best route was etc. parking on the other side of the street is good (for Lake Como standards :))

The gardens are absolutely stunning and the views of Lake Como are unreal — definitely a must-visit for photo lovers! Dress cute, this place is made for dreamy pics. We bought tickets online and skipped the line. The villa interior isn’t super impressive, but the outdoor beauty makes it 100% worth it.

Easily one of the most beautiful places I've been. There was a crowd (we visited in September), but it was manageable and didn't bother us too much. Entry was quick and efficient and for 7 euro (13 for regular entry but still) you get access to arguably the most gorgeous views you would have seen in your life.
Teo N — Google review
This is truely a lovely villa. The setting on the north end of Varenna is perfectly quiet. Property is between the road and Lake Como allowing for a magical stroll along the water. The property seemed a little worn. After a couple of days of train the paths suffered from large puddles making passage distracting on some portions. Other features were closed for repairs. The house was a treat and more intimate than some of the other villas we visited. Be sure to visit the exhibit room under the where you'll get your tickets and enter property. They have a fine audio and visual show that allows you to chose topics on the family and property history of the villa as well as the garden and it's flora. We visited in the second half of September but I can imagine Villa Monastero in blume is just amazing.

One word – magnificent. I recommend buying tickets in advance to avoid waiting. We arrived at 10 a.m. and waited about 20 minutes in line. The villa opens at 10:00 a.m. They allow only a limited number of visitors inside, which is great because it’s not overcrowded. The ticket costs €10

This is the most beautiful place I have ever been on Earth and I mean that. Wow just wow. The gardens are incredibly stunning and well kept and I probably took hundreds of photos here. Do not skip this place if you are in Varenna and spend some time here I promise it’s worth it!!! So much gorgeous scenery it felt like I was inside a pinterest board. If you are walking here from where the ferry drops you off make sure to walk along the path right next to the water with the red fence for some of the best views of the lake and then at the end head up one of the streets/stairs to get to the villa entrance.

We had a fabulous day at Villa Monastero, where every inch felt intentionally designed and beautifully maintained. The atmosphere was serene and tranquil, with stunning architecture all around—the elegant pillars, soaring arches, and vibrant flower displays made it a feast for the eyes. We visited in mid-June, when the temperature reached 34°C, yet there were plenty of shaded spots to pause and enjoy the scenery. One of our favourite moments was sitting at a picnic bench under the shade, having some snacks while taking in the spectacular lake views. The café on site offers refreshments, and there is one toilet for each gender. Both were beautifully prepared and spotless, which was a welcome detail. The combination of breathtaking views, peaceful atmosphere, and architectural beauty made Villa Monastero a truly memorable experience. It’s the kind of place where you can slow down, breathe, and simply enjoy the beauty of Lake Como. Kids go free

Located in the small town of Bellano, just a train station away from Varenna, Orrido di Bellano is a 15 million-year-old gorge with a series of waterfalls and footbridges anchored on high walls. The narrow valley offers a refreshing escape from the summer heat as visitors stroll along the rocky walls and through beautiful caves and grottoes formed by the River Pioverna.
Bellano, a charming lakeside village on the eastern shore of Lake Como, is known for its authentic Italian atmosphere and scenic beauty. Beyond its colorful streets and serene waterfront, Bellano is home to the dramatic Orrido di Bellano, a natural gorge carved by the rushing waters of the Pioverna River. The gorge, with its narrow rock formations, cascading waterfalls, and centuries-old legends, offers visitors a breathtaking walk along suspended pathways—a striking contrast to the calm elegance of the lake. Bellano is a hidden gem where nature, history, and tranquility meet.

Short but very exotic stroll through the green and humid springs. Worth a visit. Right beside this place is a beautiful cemetery garden with a lovely serene ambiance. You can see the Swiss border from there and take some amazing pictures.

This was a relatively short experience, but the place is absolutely beautiful and we really loved it! Parking is limited to one hour, but honestly, an hour is just enough time to enjoy the visit. Definitely worth visiting!
Leigh S — Google review
Bought tickets online prior to our visit so you could skip the ticket office and go straight to the entrance. Before arriving we were lucky to find a parking spot, but I think it can be a problem for some to find a spot. The Orrido is a relatively short attraction but definitely worth the money (€7,5 per adult). Very beautiful and impressive so a big recommendation from me.

Orido di Bellano may be a short walk, but it’s absolutely worth visiting. You don’t have to just rush through it — it’s one of those places where you can simply stop, take a breath, and really look. The waterfalls, the cliffs, the light — it’s all so beautiful and powerful when you give yourself the time to take it in. We noticed that many people just walk through quickly, take a photo or two, and move on. But honestly, it’s worth slowing down — standing still and really absorbing the view makes all the difference. It felt like a bit of a hidden gem. We got there using local public transport, which also gave us a discount on the entrance fee. It wasn’t crowded at all, and the whole experience felt calm and memorable — actually one of our favorite, more peaceful memories from Lago di Como. Bellano itself was also super charming — much quieter than some of the more famous towns in the area, and honestly, I enjoyed it more for exactly that reason.

What a hidden gem! We were considering giving this a pass, I am glad we still went. Very interesting place and the kids loved it. Under 30 minutes and not at all difficult. Absolutely recommend a visit. Buy tickets at the location, we saw online tickets were 50 cents more.

Greenway del Lago di Como is a picturesque 10 km trail along the western shore of Lake Como, perfect for leisurely walks and family outings. The route starts in Colonno and ends in Griante, passing through charming villages like Sala Comacina and Ossuccio. Along the way, hikers can admire baroque churches, traditional Italian architecture, and beautiful lakeside gardens.
Great experience, the views are incredible and the towns are just brilliant, definitely worth it. I started the way around (from Tremezzo) and I was a little bit confused with the signs around the path and got lost, I imagine doing the right way is also better. Google maps doesn't have the entire trail here, worth doing some web searching through other pages that do have it. I also add a photo of the signs all around the path that will guide you. Don't expect a sign per meter, they are really a few but just to remind you you are on the right path, they are fine. During the trekking you will find places to bathe in the lake, really really important if it is summer. If you give up at any part of the trip, try to find a bus or a ferry near where you are. For example there is a bus working all weekend that leaves you in Como city.

This is a great hike on mostly paved walkways BUT my husband and I are fit, completed this entire walk in 2ish hours. It definitely has hills with some more strenuous parts. Plenty of viewpoints for rest though! If you want to make this more of a stroll, it will take 3-4 hours. You can begin at different points if you do not want to do all 7ish miles! Be warned haha

Great Hike !! Day 1 we started in Lenno after getting off the Ferry. Stepped onto the Greenway Trail, followed the signs heading North and hiked to Griante or the end of the trail. You can go further and sidewalk tour the Old Villas towards Menaggio but roadwork prevents you from getting through to Menaggio. Day 2 was a longer day, hiking to the start of the trail from the Lenno Ferry and back. This part of the trail is better marked, but a bit more challenging as you climb higher into the villages and enjoy Grand Vistas. A tasty Panini and Gelato is well deserved on the return leg. Va Bene

The perfect stroll for the day when you forget your hiking shoes for more serious trail :) Amazing views especially when the path climbs up away from the lake, Griante to Colonno with pizza/beer lunch break takes easy 5 hours

Day one we started in Cadenabbia and walked to Lenno, returning to Cadenabbia. Day two we took the ferry to Lenno and walked to Colonno before returning. The way is well-marked with metal medallions in the path or signs at turns. We enjoyed seeing staid mansions, bustling commercial corners, statuesque churches, quaint villages and lively playgrounds- with the grand Lake Como in the background. Walking proved to be a great way to see the range of how people occupy this gorgeous part of Italy. Near Colono the trail medallions are more scarce.

This hiking trail features scenic views along the lake, spanning 11 kilometers total. You can complete the entire 11 km or one or more partial sections. The path is clearly marked with signs and engravings, making navigation simple. Better to go slow and enjoy the view through the entire day, than to hurry though.

The Basilica di Sant'Abbondio is an ancient and picturesque church located in the city of Como. It features two bell towers, frescoes, and arches lining multiple aisles. Originally situated along the Via Regina, a crucial route connecting Lombardy to Northern Europe, the basilica's history dates back to the 5th century CE when it was built on the site of a paleo-Christian church.
Beautiful and quiet church. Perfect for a moment of silence and thinking.
Fredo F — Google review
It's a quiet little basilica tucked away in Como. We went there on a Monday and it was completely empty. There's no ticket or queue at all. The main ceiling and walls above the altar have nice frescoes. You can pop in 50 cents to light up the place for a few minutes and have a good look at the altar and it's walls.
Suparna S — Google review
One word for this Basilica... incredible! The Rev. Fr that walked us through the story of the basilica made it sound and look so lovely. I couldn't help but wonder how the love of God have greatly inspired the generation before us.
VIGIL U — Google review
Beautiful, peaceful snd completely empty. Much more ancient than the grander Duomo in the centre of Como. There’s beautiful artwork too.
Helen F — Google review
This is the second oldest church according to our guide. Unlike so many churches in Europe, which are often a mixture of various styles, here one finds quite a rather unaltered Romanesque construction. The Basilica, built in the 11th century over an even older church as has been found out by recent excavations, is aesthetically very pleasing - from the exterior as well as inside. There are also some wall paintings, although they date from the 14th century. In the middle are the relics of Saint Abbondio, a local bishop, and of two of his successors, rather unknown saints elsewhere. Next to the church is a courtyard, recently restored, which now gets used by the town's university
Emmanuel R — Google review
Everyone who visits Como goes to the Duomo (Cathedral), but to my mind this church is more interesting and beautiful. It is an old romanesque Church (much older than the Duomo) with beautiful frescoes, in particular the large series in the altar. I suppose people don't go here so much because it's not in the city center. It was empty when we visited it. But it's a lovely, lovely church. The relics of Saint Abundius (Sant'Abbondio) are located here. It is free to visit.

Really lovely church ideal visit off the beaten track no toilet facilities but nearby quaint bar (to left of picture) around corner with helpful and super friendly owner Claudio.

A must-see: a bit off the classic Como Tours because it is just outside the center, but in my opinion not to be missed. It is a 1,000-year-old basilica with one of the largest cycles of frescoes of the Giotto school in Lombardy. Inside the church, on the left, there are also panels that allow you to know the history very well.

Basilica di San Fedele is a significant stop on the Romanesque tour, situated in a charming square that shares its name. Originally built around 1120, it stands on the site of a 5th-century paleochristian church dedicated to Santa Eufemia. Later dedicated to San Fedele, the basilica houses his relics and is considered a masterpiece of Romanesque architecture.
Stunning basilica in Como. Beautiful architecture. Really enjoyed the beautiful decor on the inside with painted ceilings and beautiful statues. The highlight at Christmas time is the light show that goes on the front of the Basilica when it gets dark outside. It was stunning. We sat outside and watched the amazing light show. We really enjoyed our visit to this church in Como.

A must visit if you are in Rome. We passed through the Jubilee Holy Door open every 25 years, and saw the Michelangelo Pietà
Ryland T — Google review
This is an interesting Church as it seems to have a number of ancient artifacts which seem Roman, maybe because Fedele, is believed to be a Roman soldier that held some kind of state office around 316AD. He was converted to Christianity, by the then bishop of Milan, perhaps connected to a task the bishop asked of Fedele, namely, evangelize the pagan territory of greater Como (which may have included Arona). Christians were severely persecuted until Constantine and Fedele was martyred on the northern shores of Lake Como near Lake Mazzola. Evidently around 500AD a hermit, Anthony of Lario (future Saint), took shelter in the Tomb of Fedele (this location was then documented). In 964AD, this tomb was found (unearthed) and the relics recovered (shrine currently exists in Sorico) and transferred to the church of St. Euphemia. However, it seems there was a bit of conflict in the area at the time, and the relics are believed to be sent to Milan for safe keeping. Then in 1572 Cardinale Carlo Borromeo (future Saint), had the relics safely transported to this church. So interesting.

Open every day from 8.30-12.00 then 15.30-19.00, not open Monday mornings. This is worth a visit, a short walk from the main Como cathedral. It was quiet during Easter weekend but will be busier in the summer months.
Eddie R — Google review
The basilica itself is much smaller than the city’s duomo but San Fedele has it’s own cute little charm. I find the surrounding streets to be a little more colorful and the plaza itself, in front of the church, is much bigger — compared to that of the Como Duomo — this makes San Fedele Basilica a very relaxing spot off the crowded, tourist-filled, tiny streets. Great to get an apero right outside the many shops and coffee places while enjoying the Romanesque edifice in front of you! Good historical landmark!

Nestled in the picturesque landscape of Colico, the Forte di Fuentes is a historical gem worth exploring. Constructed in 1609 under the guidance of military architect Gabrio Brusca, this fortress was strategically built by Spanish governor Pedro Acevedo to safeguard against local threats. Spanning an impressive 300 meters in length and 125 meters wide, it once housed military barracks, a Governor's Palace, a church, and various essential facilities like a mill and water reservoirs.
To be honest there isn't much left from the fort itself given its age but it's absolutely worth going there for the stunning views and what the fort builders needed to go through to get everything up there. Consider also the fact that they had no water source in the fort so all water needed to continuously be transported there with mules.

Went to the forte but you can only view it by guided tour and the next one wasn’t for 40 mins. Take some time to be more prepared than us and know the start times. From what we saw in the lobby, it’s an older attraction that’s heavily military based. It was pretty empty, even on a Saturday afternoon.

An impressive fort from the 1600s, when the Spanish ruled this area. Definitely worth a visit, particularly in combination with Forte Montecchio Nord. This is a very different site to the other one, being much older and mostly in ruins, although there is some WW1 history on the site too. The views of the surrounding area are fantastic and really emphasise the strategic importance of the location through the centuries. The staff member on duty gave a brief but very informative introduction to the site in front of a map showing a reconstruction of the fort, before letting me roam the site and see the ruins for myself. The walk from the car park and into the fort itself is a fairly steep track, so bear this in mind if you have limited mobility.

Lido di Lenno was one of the best days during my trip to Lake Como! Not only is it an incredible beach location that has a magnificent view of the lake, but the hospitality was some of the best I've received. I hosted my engagement lunch here and the manager worked with me for almost 4 months to make sure everything was perfect. He created an entire menu for a group of 20 people, along with reserving a private area for us. All of it was what exactly what I imagined it would be! The staff was very professional and provided incredible service. The food was amazing as well as the drinks. Enjoying everything on the beach and overlooking the lake was a core memory that I will never forget. If you have time in Lenno, definitely check out this place because you will love it.

Nice museum in Como with interest pieces. Waiting for the opening of the gardens inside. Till July 2018 you can visit Tenchio exhibit. Once the gardens will be opened, it will be a little treasure in Como!

This was a bit of a hidden gem. Well worth visiting it’s very interesting and gives lots of information about the history of activity in Como. Only 4€ entrance and they were so welcoming, let us leave our bags securely for free as we were heading later that day for the boat. Highly recommended

Lovely, not too big museum. It shows the development of como from stone age to roman + extra. English support is limited. But there are explanation sheets in some rooms, keep an eye out for them because it enhances the history greatly.

It is very interesting, we had a great time there! The only bad thing for me is that there is not many english translations... we had to search on the internet the meaning or just look without reading the description
Marie M — Google review
Interesting place but it was all in Italian with no English translation. We could only look at the items without understanding what they were. They gave us an English paper with information on it but it didn't help.

There are a lot of cool stuff, but it's dark everywhere and sometimes you can't see the things. Also there is nothing written in English and it's a shame, because I didn't enjoy it as much as I could.

Villa Sola Cabiati is a grand neoclassical mansion from the 18th century, situated in Tremezzina overlooking Bellagio. The villa boasts stunning halls adorned with frescoes and stucco work, along with an exquisite Italian garden featuring beautiful flower beds. It serves as an ideal venue for weddings, accommodating up to 130 guests with the option of marquee rental.
One of the most breathtaking villas on Lake Como, it’s always a great pleasure to work there 📸

Villa Sola Cabiati is the embodiment of Italianità—a place where heritage, artistry, and romance are seamlessly woven into its magnificent walls. While the villa itself is a masterpiece of elegance, what truly sets it apart is its impeccable staff. Their dedication to preserving and sharing the villa’s legacy is remarkable; they operate at the highest levels of luxury hospitality, yet with a warmth and passion that make every guest feel truly welcome. The Stucco Room is among the most breathtaking spaces I have ever stepped into—an exquisite showcase of intricate craftsmanship and timeless beauty. Having visited many Italian villas, I can confidently say that Villa Sola Cabiati is one of my absolute favorites. It is grand yet intimate, majestic yet deeply inviting. From the very moment you step onto the grounds, you are transported into another world—a world of refined beauty, history, and la dolce vita. Every corner of this storied villa is a tribute to artistry, heritage, luxury, and the effortless charm of Italy. Here I photographed S&D’s wedding, which was an unforgettable experience. To this day, their gallery remains one of my all-time favorites—a testament to the magic that unfolds within these walls.

I have just photographed a beautiful 3-day spring wedding here, the location is the epitome of luxury with the most incredible views of Lake Como. The venue interiors are as dreamy and as magnificent as their surroundings. This venue is a photographers delight to work in. The property has its own dock which made it easy for the bride and groom to rent a boat to go for some fun and stunning photos on the lake, which is a must when in Lake Como!

Lido
Public beach
Lido Villa Olmo is a relaxed club offering swimming options in the lake or multiple pools, along with a beach bar and private cabins. Situated close to Como town, it provides easy access for visitors exploring Villa Olmo. While it may get crowded during summer, its proximity to cultural attractions makes it a practical choice for combining swimming and sightseeing. This historic beach resort overlooks Lake Como's first basin and is owned by the Municipality of Como.
My sister and I visited Lido Villa Olmo and could not have asked for a more relaxing way to spend our day, or a better spot to enjoy the breathtaking views of Lake Como. We paid the extra for the Prive Area and felt that it was totally worth it! All staff throughout the venue were incredibly friendly and helpful. We did not use the pool but did take a dip in the lake - it cooled us right down! As for the restrooms, they were a surprise at first, but once I figured it out (not a traditional toilet, rather a porcelain hole), I chalked it up to an interesting and funny cultural experience. I really enjoyed my time here and would return in a heartbeat!
Amy B — Google review
Amazing view — but only if you manage to get the first row, no chance if you come after 11-12am €44 for two sunbeds and an umbrella. The umbrella isn’t big enough, so you constantly have to move the sunbeds to stay in the shade. Polite and friendly staff, clean toilets and changing rooms. There’s also a bar with cocktails at reasonable prices. You can’t use the outdoor pool without a swim cap — haha — they charge another €4 for that, never seen that before :) so don’t be surprised. But overall, a good place to relax for the day.
Oleksandr K — Google review
Okay, so I came here with somewhat high expectations. I paid 18 euro (start of August, and there are afternoon discounts after 15:00) for access to the pool, the lake, a bed, and an average-sized umbrella with an ashtray and a small round table. I ordered a large strawberry mojito (15€), which was very nice! When asking the staff at the bar, you can smoke everywhere (I had an iqos with me). Downsides: there's almost no room for swimming - the lake was unkept and there were sticks and trash. The swimming area - probably 30 square meters. Upsides: The staff was nice and helpful and the area was calm. Update: I had to pay to start the water in the showers, which was promoted as included in the fee. This was the last straw, making me change my review to 1 star. The WC are squat toilets, by the way.
Tedda S — Google review
We didn’t get to test the pool but the tiny bit of the lake where you can swim had very dirty water. The changing cabin had a broken hook and didn’t have a bench inside, so there was nowhere to place your clothes. We did have a refreshing dip, which is why I’m giving it 4 stars, but the overall experience didn’t seem to be worth the money they charge you for it. Might be worth exploring alternative options if you have more time.
Darya K — Google review
Fabulous! Within walking distance to Como town and the train station. Quite surprised why so many people complain about the prices. 22€ for a lounge chair & umbrella to spend a lovely day by a gorgeous lake seems very reasonable! Food and drinks were great - pizza was delicious. The lake was clean and felt so refreshing on a hot day!
Jillian M — Google review
Super friendly staff. Lovely city beach to swim in the lake, walking distance from Como. Get a spritz and take a dip. Cheaper entry after 3pm.
Zachary W — Google review
It’s nice but just to expensive to what you get , the lake area is meh , the toilets are squat toilets , you need to pay for the hot shower and food and drink options are very regular . So in the end is ok but you can do that in any of the open ways to enter the lake and save up to 50 Euro per person , that’s a 200 euro for a family of 4 . So it’s ok but not sure if worth it
Andres N — Google review
Overpriced, underwhelming. Deck burns your feet 🔥🦶 rocky “sand” hurts to walk on 🪨 lake entry is crumbling concrete 🏚️ sharp stones 🪨 Bathrooms? No doors 🚪 no toilets 🚫 just squat 😬 Pool requires bathing cap 🎩 (money grab) jacuzzi cold 🥶 no jets 💨 Towels cost extra 💸 (another money grab) Self-serve food 🍽️ drinks 🍹 Only redeeming thing? The passion fruit mojito 🥭🍹

About a 40 minute walk from the Como Camerlata train station. Which is One stop from the Como main station. The weather was not great when we did the walk with thick clouds and rain. Otherwise the views would have great. Most of the walk was steep, but thankfully very little traffic. The castle has been reduced to its keep. The keep can be accessed for 10 Euro per adult. There are four levels excluding the roof level. Each level had some artefacts on this history of the castle from Roman to medieval times. Our guide was knowledgeable and very happy to answer our questions. The roof would normally have fantastic views to Milan. Well worth the walk and visit.
Aaron S — Google review
The castle was closed for construction I think. The place is very beautiful, we parked the car down the street and we went up the hill. The road is very steep, it was a bit hard. But the place is very beautiful and well maintained. We got to see a little part of the castle and its surroundings, and we saw Como with one side of its lake.
Waad J — Google review
A nice hike, 10€ to additionally climb to the top of the tower, we saved that cash for the dinner tonight; you can continue the hike via Monte Croce and go down into the San Giovanni station, it's well worth it for the views.

(Translated by Google) TORTONA, DO. 23.04.23 I was expecting a peaceful visit to the "Madonna della Guardia Sanctuary" (AL) and to the Piedmontese town but..."meeting" the I Girasoli bookshop on the way was a real and very pleasant surprise 😊: then entering it was a temptation! The two floors are "furnished" with very useful and also very nice books and stationery items. Everything is arranged in an orderly manner and the staff is very helpful, as well as competent... they even take you to the right shelf: and here... I couldn't resist. I left with a first purchase and then...I returned to complete my next skills, with two other specific books - see photo. In addition, how could I not also take a look at the foreign languages sector - the basis of the work "mission" that fills my days?! Also nice assortment of books and teaching tools for my beloved German. Here we must return because the written page, on paper, is an investment that enriches the soul and soul without expiration. Thank you that bookstores like this still "resist" the time of the infodemic, especially on the web. Teresa Necchi 😊

(Translated by Google) Ok maybe I'm a little biased because I've known there for a while. However, said in an "impartial" way, they are a large bookshop, perhaps the largest in the city of Tortona. They have a department for the younger ones at the back, but where you can also find useful objects for teenagers too and I say objects because they also sell, as usual, other things including educational and recreational games. They have an underground department where you can admire a beautiful ancient arch (I don't know the era) and where they keep very interesting books. I spent hours down there choosing the best books for research on Japan and Nordic populations, but they also keep many other things. Furthermore, a final note, they are very good at finding books that are not present there and even out of print. They were the only ones who managed to find a copy of: La Macchina Della Realtà, which I couldn't find elsewhere because it was out of print. The staff is kind and polite. Standard timing. You can get a points card. Tempistiche standard. Si può fare la tessera punti.
