He did not make any attempt to wipe the surface down or change utensils-just slapped the GF bread down into a nice pile of gluten. I watched the whole thing and I am glad that I spotted it! I explained that nobody can eat the Gluten Free breakfast now as it had been totally contaminated and that it was not at all suitable for Coeliacs/Allergies as I had checked previously. I was apologised to and given my money back in cash. PLEASE do not advertise that you can cater for Gluten Free, if you have not got the facilities, procedures or correct staff training to do so. Being Gluten Free is not a choice for so many and it is hard enough to find places safe to eat for a GF diet. Coeliac Disease is an autoimmune disease and Gluten/Wheat allergies can be as severe as nut allergies for many. I would like to think that this issue was just an oversight/isolated incident (although I highly doubt it!!) so I hope that this event makes Eden Cafe reconsider their ability to cater for Gluten Free and it is just lucky that I witnessed the staff member make this mistake before it was too late! Great food and everything is 100% gluten free. They also cater for vegans, vegetarians & meat eaters.
