Having said that, the staff were otherwise excellent, helpful and knowledgeable on the menu and cocktails, and taking great care with dietaries. The rice was too soft and doesnt have crust which was quite a disappointment. The karaage chicken was good and crispy but the chilli crisp dip was not spicy at all. The miso lamb rib was good with no lamb stench. Roasted pork belly was passable but cannot taste the wasabi. The white sauce tasted more like hummus. The dessert was hojicha creme bulee with meringue and lemon sauce. I felt that sugar crust was on the thin side, the meringue was totally unnecessary, and the sourness of the lemon sauce was overpowering and totally failed to balance the sweetness of the creme brulee. Overall, the food was passable but not outstanding. There is room for improvement for service. The table on ground floor was empty and already set up upon our early arrival but the host did not give us the table and instead led us up to the holding area on the upper floor until our booking time reached to lead us downstairs again. Chef Martin is so lovely and incredibly talented. The Tuna belly nigiri was amazing. The Alfonso nigiri was something I'll never forget - the flavours blew me away and were unlike anything I've experienced before - in the best way.
