San Diego Zoo Safari Park, located 30 miles northeast of San Diego, is an 1,800-acre wildlife sanctuary that houses over 300 species of African and Asian animals. It offers visitors the chance to witness rare African and Asian mega animals in a natural habitat setting.
Delightful experience here with wife and family. We did some of the hands on experience which included close ups with the koala and also feeding another animal (zebra and also the one in our photo). While we are not zoologist, the animals did seem relatively comfortable and their enclosure decently large. We loved how clean the facilities were and readily available restrooms for those post meal needs. Walking around the whole place def takes a few hours and we love the themed atmosphere as well. Would def recommend people come here and also to the zoo. Both are world leaders in zoo keeping and a great place to see animals you may not see elsewhere.

This is always a fantastic experience for kids, but the adults enjoyed it just as much. Ideally, go take the bus tour first thing when you get there. It gives you a good overview of the park, and you'll beat the crowds the rest of the day. The avian show was very entertaining and we of course learned a lot of fascinating info on the various birds and other bonus animals they brought out.
Laurence B — Google review
Brilliant park, expansive highly suggest getting the open air shuttle through the safari plains, getting close enough to see animals wandering or resting and great photo opportunities. Only complaint is “zoo radio” near the food which is too loud and not in keeping with a nature outdoor experience. Loved the tiger exhibit sounds! Can’t wait to see the new elephant exhibit later this year!

The San Diego zoo Safari Park. 15500 San Pascual Valley road in Escondido California. We are season ticket holders and pay $280.00 per year for two of us with free parking included. It is a magical place to view wildlife in their natural habitat. They also have lots of birds, flowers and plants. If you are up to it the paths are abundant and easy to walk. If not there is a tram which is included in the 76.00 each adult pays for a day pass. The tram is about a 40 minute adventure through the natural savanna reserve. The park is all handicapped accessible and they offer rental carts to ride around the paths inside. Parking is $17 dollars per carload. I have included some of our pictures from past visits. If Escondido is to far for you the San Diego Zoo near downtown is awesome at the same above listed prices. Membership includes two free passes you can use anytime.

What an excellent experience! So much fun! Took the deluxe Safari, which was well worth the additional cost even if you only pay for entrance into the park you will thoroughly enjoy yourself as there is so much to see and do. The animals are still abundant and the foliage is gorgeous!! We made it a day trip from Palm Springs and it was well worth the effort!
Pamela W — Google review
A wonderful park to visit! Animals in a natural environment, beautiful grounds full of interesting flora and fauna. We walked for three miles, many inclines so you will get some exercise! Plenty of benches though to take rests as needed. They offer hot air balloon rides and safari tours for an extra fee.
John K — Google review
The best family day out we have ever had. The views round the park are like nothing we have ever experienced before. You can spend a whole day here easily and very good value for money. They have a hot air balloon which does cost extra but worth every penny to see the view of the whole park!
Jemma S — Google review
What a wonderful place! It delivered on everything it was supposed to be. A great vibe and a fun place for kids. Here are some tips that can be helpful when you’re going with kids (we had 2 under 2) •bring extra water and ur own bottle (there were barely places to refill and water bottles were $$$) •bring a double stroller! •it was VERY hot when we went and there’s not much shaded areas and LOTS of walking so bring a stroller fan, hats, sunscreen •the $20 extra fee for the priority pass for the tram is worth it if you have kids bc the line was 50 minutes long •download the safari app - it has a live feature on your phone that helps you plan the day and directions to sites. So much better than walking around aimlessly! We saw all the animals and went on the Africa tram. But my highlights were: *elephant viewing inside the herb garden (you have to go in the herb garden to see them. It’s like a hidden hideaway right next to the campground area) *the atrium. These were so beautiful and calming. Highly rec This place is HUGE. Lots of walking and hills. So wear comfy shoes and clothes and bring all the things you need. Enjoy!!

The California Center for the Arts, Escondido has received a generous grant to support its CCAE Theatricals Conservatory program and its upcoming original production, Witnesses. This world-class center offers a vibrant sculpture garden, downtown lined with cultural attractions, and nearby outdoor activities like hiking at Daley Ranch or wine tasting at local vineyards.
Just saw Carmen and Divertimento #15. (Mozart) ant the center. What a great production put on by the City Ballet company and Orchestra! The centers theater is well maintained. More people should know about this venue and the programs available.

The seating was comfortable, and our view was great. Pricing was overly done since it's an older auditorium. The sound wasn't too bad.

Sue Palmer opened for Joe Castro. What a phenomenal woman! I have never seen anyone make a piano dance like she did! Super fun and relatable. Joe Castro rocked socks, just!sayin!
Kimberlie M — Google review
This is such a nice venue (both inside and out) but the multiple times we have come here for somewhat higher energy bands... the layout of the theater kills it. Remove the first 10-15 rows of seating for general admission... Bands need people on their feet/ dancing to keep up the energy exchange during the set. When everyone is seated ...motionless... it kind of sets the tone for the show. If its a play... or an educational/cultural type performance... put the seats back in. High energy main stream bands would change the financial picture for this venue and I as a life long North County Resident want it to succeed.

Wonderful venue for all kinds of events. I've attended concerts, plays, and annual gatherings from local organizations here. Most recently I saw Euphoria Brass Band for some amazing New Orleans jazz and blues.

Accessibility: there are many accessible/handicap parking spots in the parking lot as well as multiple ramps to get onto the sidewalk that leads to the museum, theaters, ticket office and conference area. When heading toward these buildings from the parking lot the pathway is lit with string lights and street lights in the parking lot. You might come to an option that says the left hallway is for the museum and right hallway for the theaters, ticket office, conference center...only the right side has a ramp so you might need to take that and go a little further until the sidewalk wraps around to the museum side. It's not much farther. If you come from the other side of all these buildings because you parked somewhere else, it is more flat ground and ramps. The museum has a pull door and inside it is very well lit with tons of open space. There are restrooms open in the museum and they have one larger stall for those who need it. Experience: I really loved this museum. It's beautiful inside, very spacious, not too hot or cold, and the tickets are not too expensive compared to some museums. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the art is very well taken care of. I will definitely come back. Outside the museum there is Grape Day Park which is absolutely beautiful, free, and has many benches and trees with shade.

Large venue right in downtown Escondido. Tons of parking, indoor and outdoor stages, wide variety of free and paid events for all ages. Amazing!

Went to the Sunday 2pm performance of Giselle at Escondido Center for the Arts on October 26th, 2025. When we were being seated, the theater was unusually warm. The Usher expressed to me that "maybe I should take my thin, cotton jacket off.." I left at the intermission, due to the temperature being intolerable. The Center must have known about the temperature issue before they piled people in for the performance. Who can concentrate in an 85-degree theater..Waste of money. Unethical practice.

This sculpture garden is a unique and beautiful place to visit. It features large-scale mosaics made by Niki de Saint Phalle, and the surrounding landscape is lovely. The museum is especially beautiful at night when the sculptures are lit up.
This place is amazing. A true hidden gem near the heart of Escondido. The art experience alone is worth a visit. I captured a couple of snaps worth sharing. This spot has the most majestic sculptures and hidden pathways to explore for both kids and adults alike. And if you can view on a somewhat sunny day everything sparkles, but be prepared for the heart woth water in hand. I do recommend using the bathroom before entering. There is one near the parking lots and ball fields. Otherwise, you'll have trouble if it's an emergency.
Casey M — Google review
Colorful and engaging sculpture installation, it is also open on 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month from 9 AM until 2 PM. There is a knowledgeable docent on hand who can tell you stories about the artist and the works.
Monica S — Google review
This is such an incredible, enclosed display of incredible artwork. The art was from an article from France. This part of Kit Carson park has specific hours where it is open, on Tuesdays and Thursdays and only in the morning. There are also tons of parking lots so go off of the google directions and walk to the path immediately to the left of the handicapped parking spots.

Amusing mosaic sculpture garden located within Kit Carson Park. I've been to this park many times and never been in until now, it's just that tough to get there when it's open unless you're retired or took the day off. Make sure you check the schedule beforehand. Other than that it's pretty great! One of a kind and very special!
Meau V — Google review
Wonderful work of worldwide known French artist Niki de Saint Phalle. The kind person supervising (volunteer) was lovely and knew everything about the artist. Not that easy to find (and opening hours are limited, please be aware!), but we absolutely recommend the little detour!

Fantastic. Stop in then fly to Tuscany and see the larger version.

Great places for kids to explore and to get some super unique photos! The vivid colors are super magical and make for a stunning backdrop! It's only open a few hours a week and locked up the rest of the time (I think to prevent vandals) but totally worth the trip! Settled in a large green park on plenty of acreage. Kids playground within walking distance and loads of pathed trails!
Tricia B — Google review
This is one of the most beautiful parks i have ever seen. A hidden gem that my kids loved. We did a nice trail walk to get there and they played for hours. It's free with select hours and certain days do be sure to check before you go but worth the trip.

Stone Brewing World Bistro & Gardens - Escondido is a renowned brewery bistro known for its American menu and modern California ambiance. The majestic establishment features a castle-like interior with floor-to-ceiling views of the flagship brewery, a company store offering various merchandise, and indoor and outdoor dining areas. The outdoor space includes abundant seating, water and fire features, a shaded lounge area, grassy spaces, and trails around a lagoon.
Such a beautiful location! You wouldn’t know it if you have never been there. It’s like a tropical paradise! There are trees, a stream and little waterfalls. Beautiful for pictures and dates. They do events as well! I definitely recommend getting a reservation or going early. They do have space and tables in the bar area. But if you go later, you might have to wait for a table, even in the bar area. They get really crowded. There is tons of space and even areas to walk around. Nice to have that kind of space for kids too. I love a good beet flight and they didn’t disappoint! OMG the salad with berries and filo bread was amazing 🤩 We will definitely be back!

Best brewery garden in world. Love the rocks, bamboo, water features, tasty food, easy app for ordering and of course the beer. Perfect for a large group of all ages and celebration’s. Food exceeds my expectations for a brewery restaurant. Very happy group. App was much appreciated to avoid the pain of splitting a big bill.

I've known about this spot for years, located up north from our home, and we finally made the trip (totally worth it). The place is beautifully set up with a garden-style seating area that gives off a relaxing and laid-back vibe. The prices are more than reasonable: most food plates are under $20, and the beer is a steal — $3 for 5 oz, $6 for 9 oz, and $9 for 15 oz. We had the hamburgers, and they were perfectly cooked, juicy, and flavorful. Personally, I love their stout beer. All around, it was a great experience. It's definitely worth the drive, and I highly recommend checking out Stone Brewery if you’re in the area or even if you have to go a little out of your way.
Jesus M — Google review
Stone brewing is one of my favorite breweries in the country and we always grab a drink and some food when in town. The restaurant/brewhouse are huge with indoor and outdoor seating with some of the seating being first come first serve. I love trying the new experimental beers at this location, some are amazing and I wish they’d keep them on the list! The Chicken Parm Supreme may have been one of the best chicken parm sandwiches I have ever had. I loved the taste of the sauce and the crispy sub roll that it was served on. Their tacos are all phenomenal, I suggest trying a few different tacos together. The only thing not pictured that we loved was the cheesesteak egg roll, I wish I had a photo of it because it was great!
Carter K — Google review
Great location with easy access and parking. Beautiful interior seating, some with views of the brewery. Great outdoor seating too. Very friendly and helpful employees. Extensive beer selections, many made on site. The food selections were so good that it was difficult to select something. My wife ordered Stone Tangerine Express Hazy IPA and Blackened Salmon which she described as "buttery". I selected Stone Delicious Double IPA and Fish and Chips which is just right breaded. They also have beer that is fermented in a manner that breaks down and removes gluten, rendering gluten levels so significantly that the beer qualifies as a “gluten-reduced” ale per the FDA. We were given a taste, and want to try it the next time that we are in Escondido.
Paul Y — Google review
They say location is everything but I would say atmosphere wins overall. This location is in an industrial business park but once you enter the space Stone has created is unique and relaxed. A combination of outdoor and indoor areas with super high ceilings to provide a sense of spaciousness. The food was great, the salad i chose was very healthy, the superfood salad, with a side of grilled salmon. There was a lot of whole lettuce leaves as a bed, which were not very easy to eat, so it looked huge when it arrived. I would have preferred a smaller serving with all components ready to devour. The beer was great, as expected as well as very attentive staff.
Charles C — Google review
What an incredible experience! The location is gorgeous. Everyone was great. Our server was Thomas and he was absolutely brilliant. Making great suggestions for beers to try after taking time to talk to us and get to know our likes and dislikes. If we asked a question he didn’t know the answer to, he reached out to others to get the answer. Food and beer were yummy. Excellent service ! 🍺
Melyssa J — Google review
Awesome brewery. Kind of hidden with no obvious external signage, but the interior is huge and spacious, able to accommodate a lot of guests. Beautiful layout and very cool place to just hang out with friends. Very reasonable prices, only $3 for most 5oz pours, allowing you to sample a decent number of beers for a low cost. All the beers I had were good, being a light beer drinker I recommend buenaveza, garden crusher, cliche. Food is delicious, especially buffalo wings, fish & chips, brussels sprouts, burgers, and several other foods we ordered. Only wish they had a location in CO!

Kit Carson Park in Escondido is a versatile destination offering something for everyone. The park features numerous hiking trails, three ponds, and various sports fields. It also houses a 5-acre arboretum known as the Iris Sankey Magical Garden. Named after the famous scout Kit Carson, the park was once an Indian settlement and is close to historical sites like the Battle of San Pasqual battlefield.
Excellent park to take your dog for a run or walk.. Huge area for any type of celebration, either birthday or even wedding! ( I've seen it). There are so many trails to explore! It has a Frisbee golf course and a tennis court. Shaded bench to relax and enjoy nature or watch and feed the ducks by the pond. Can't decide where to start, don't worry. Signs everywhere. Lots of parking. This park is always busy!!
Elvira E — Google review
Kit Carson Park is a jewel, there are different activities as hiking, disc golf, feeding the ducks (ducks food not bread), tennis courts, hockey, and appreciating nature as the birds, squirrels, ducks and turtles. Playgrounds for the kids, pic-nic areas with tables, great for families and friends! My only complaint is the park is not taking care with caring, the old and dry bushes still there, maybe money issues to take care the plants, trees, the greenery? We really enjoy this park, just great!! 🙏
Miriam T — Google review
The disc golf course is what I love the most, but there are many things to love here. Walking trails, baseball fields, a small outdoor theater, picnic areas, roller blade hockey, Queen Calafia-a modern art exhibit, a duck pond, Bar-B-Que areas, playground area, and open areas. It's a lot of fun.
Mike R — Google review
Nice, very large park with baseball, softball, tennis, disc golf, playgrounds, picnic facilities, and pond. Really offers a lot to do. The walk around park via the loop trail is pretty and can be done in under an hour. My pics were looking at critters & plants. The fields and park was in great shape on my visit.
Kathy H — Google review
This review is for the disc golf course. They really made the most of the property. This course is not super long or super challenging, but it does require a bunch of different shapes off the tee. It feels like each hole presents a different challenge. Even the short "filler" hole presents a somewhat tight shape and a dangerous green. Compared to other park courses I've played across the country, this one does a much better job of minimizing interaction between walkers and disc golfers. Most of the park goers also seemed aware of the course. Overall, it's a fantastic course that is fun for beginners, challenging for intermediate players, and still demanding of advanced players.

Didn't stay too long here. Just stopped by to get some rest. Kids loved walking down to the creek. It's a big park and everything is far away from each other. Would have been nice to walk it all because looks like there's a lot to do here but be prepared to walk.

Orfila Vineyards and Winery is a charming boutique winery nestled in the picturesque San Pasqual Valley of Escondido. Situated on a 70-acre estate, this family-friendly vineyard produces award-winning wines using French and Italian varietals. Visitors can enjoy tastings of six different wines for $15, which includes a logo glass to take home.
My husband and I had such an amazing experience at this winery. We tasted so many delicious wine varieties and we even bought some to take home for ourselves. The prices were reasonable and everything is locally grown and made right there. This was our second time visiting, but it's been many years. The views are incredible and you can choose seating, order food and just enjoy so many delicious varieties of wine that really hits the taste, buds and senses.
Jacqueline S — Google review
My husband and I have been loyal OWL members at this winery for many years. It's long been a hidden gem in Escondido--boasting stunning views, a welcoming ambience, and a team that once treated us like family. A few months ago, we stopped by for our quarterly wine pickup. We ordered a glass and began to relax, until an unfortunate interaction with a staff member left me feeling singled out and diminished the enjoyment of our visit. More recently, we returned hoping for a better experience, but things quickly took a turn. Upon arrival, the manager promptly instructed us to vacate the east-facing seats, explaining the those are spots are now reserved exclusively for guests with reservations. His tone was unapologetic and dismissive, leaving us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. This winery was once known for its genuine hospitality and family-friendly spirit under previous ownership/management. Sadly, it now feels more commercialized, and long-time OWL members appear to be an afterthought. We've since made the decision to cancel our membership and join a winery where we feel truly valued and appreciated.

Live music in Friday and pizza from Amalfi served. We ordered a bottle of red and enjoyed the music and view from outdoor patio seating. It was busy but had good turnover around so we didnt have to wait long for table. Very enjoyable and relaxing time. The pizza and red we had was delicious too!
Pokemon M — Google review
The winery has officially turned around, since the new ownership has been in charge. I popped in as a member, and every single time it’s been pleasant, warm and inviting. The wine is delicious, the food from Amalfi is fantastic (get the pizza or meatballs). Sarah, whomever she is ROCKS! She is attentive so sweet, customer-focused and the crew just wants us members to have fun. Go check it out, and tonight they had a DJ which was awesome.
Jared D — Google review
Stacey and Joshua were amazing!! What an exceptional winery!! We felt so welcomed by the lovely staff at Orfila Vineyards & Winery, and the wine tasting was an absolute blast! We had lunch from the food truck which was super delish, and purchased 4 bottles of wonderful wine before we left. We also had fun plying a game of Cornhole while enjoying the gorgeous view. We cannot wait to come back next year!
Bonnie A — Google review
When you first arrive, this place seems like a cute vineyard. We ordered food, had our tasting wine, and found a cute place on the lawn. It quickly turned to an unpleasant experience. All we could smell was the bathroom outhouse. We got the food: pizza, meatballs, and a salad. One of the worst pizzas and meatballs we have ever had. Seemed like it was a step above lunchables. The cheese wasn't a gooey, hot consistency and the meatballs were bland. Throughout the whole time we could only smell the foul bathroom smell and ended up leaving early due to the bad experience. Wine was ok, but not worth the bad food and smell.
Nina S — Google review
We have been members here for several years. We had cancelled our membership for the winter months, but then they had a membership drive, so we reactivated our membership. It has new owners; Amalfi now owns the vineyard/winery. We get 10 glasses of wine per month per membership. We often order food at the Amalfi mobile kitchen. It is delicious. We meet friends or go solo. The mobile kitchen has a varied menu, and the service is speedy. I do miss the live music, especially Jimmy and Enrique, and Fercho.
Jeff R — Google review
This review is just for the food truck, Amalfi. The claim that they are part of the Amalfi pizza restaurant chain but oh man oh man, the frozen pizza from the grocery store is 100 times better. San Pasqual Battlefield State Park is a historic site that commemorates the 1846 American-Mexican battle. The park, spanning 50 acres, features nature trails and a visitor center offering insights into the area's history through video presentations and observation rooms. General Andres Pico led Mexican ranchers against General Stephen W. Kearny's United States Dragoons in this significant conflict.
Love having this monument to our history. The location has been closed since the start of COVID, yet you’re still able to access the hikes. Intrigued to learn more about this location and my advice is to visit the archeology center next door, they are kind enough to provide information about the battle fought here when they have time.
Jery — Google review
Trails were unmaintained and overgrown, so I didn't get a chance to explore too much. There are a few monuments around the grounds, and the ground are apparently not on the site of the actual battle but the location where the US forces regrouped after a beating at the hands of the Californio vaqueros.

Technically this is the highland valley trailhead and I think it leads into the San pasqual battlefield area. This is a great little hike! Good with kids and lots of ups and downs. Good stuff to look at the whole way and very close to the pomerado exit on the 15 freeway. We do this hike often, and if it's rained enough the stream is going! There's also a beehive over the bridge area that's pretty cool. There's parking in a dirt lot just off highland valley road
Summer B — Google review
Actually a pretty cool spot. Tons of cactus. Extremely small though. The park is only half of the Butte and enclosed by a fence. It has one trail and a semi loop that connects on and off of it. Some cool history though and honestly some enjoyable views if you have an hour to go walk around I recommend it. The museum is closed unfortunately, as is the parking lot. There's a dirt pull off just before the parking lot, park at the pull off and you'll find the trailhead behind the monument.
Titan S — Google review
There is a lot of potential here, as the historic site of a significant battle in the Mexican American War. However, my experience was a tale of three unfortunates: 1) There is no easy or allowed (?) access to the trails if the park is not open. There is a smaller dirt pull off and entry to the trail from the west end of Mule Hill. It is overgrown, but usable. 2) The trail itself is poorly maintained. There was grass, weeds, and even cacti over growing the trail in places. 3) The park is only open on SAT/SUN, presumably to save money. However, the park should find a way to enable people to hike on the trail regardless of if the office/visitor center is open. I am currently a member of the 1st Cavalry Regiment, the unit whose heraldry dates to the 1st Dragoons, who fought this battle under the leadership of Gen. Kearny. I wish I lived closer, because I would gladly volunteer to help revitalize this site and maybe develop some signs to present the events that unfolded here.

I went to San Pasqual Battlefield State Historic Park on a day and time its website said it would be open and found nothing but locked gates. Personnel at the San Diego Archaeological Center down the street said the State Park has been closed since the start of Covid. A sign on the locked gates said the trails were open but parking wasn’t allowed. (You could probably park at the Archaeological Center.) If you plan on visiting the Park it’s probably in your best interest to call the number listed on the website to speak with a real person first. An updated website would work even better.
Craig B — Google review
San Pasqual Valley is beautiful this time of year. The rain makes the hills green and the view from the trail behind the visitor center takes in the whole of the valley. The chaparral is healthy and growing, and there are usually many wild flowers along the trail.

San Pasqual Museum presevers the historical significance of this valley during the USA Mexican war. The events that occur during this great battle are well represented in the artifacts and archives preserved in this museum.

Grape Day Park, the oldest park in Escondido, has been a part of the city since the 1930s and is recognized as a historic landmark. The park features a Heritage Walk showcasing period buildings and an art project called Vinehenge with grapevine-shaped playground attractions. Adjacent to Grand Ave., it is near the civic center, California Center for the Arts, Escondido, Escondido Children's Museum, and Escondido History Center.
Great neighborhood park with lots of grass, a scattering of few picnic tables and lots of shady areas, good for families and a stroll, playgrounds here too for the kiddos

Wanted to see the historic buildings. Not everything was open. The train station was awesome but was closing and wasn't able to see the train. Parking was a bit tricky to find. Would like to visit when other things are ooen.

Nice park on a beautiful spring day, and my first time here to visit the first annual indigenous culture and art festival, they had food booths, and vendors celebrating native culture as well as music and traditional dance performers. No issues with safety, or homeless as they had plenty of friendly security throughout event. Support and support the indigenous as the genocide continues against them, they need allies. ✊🏼💯☮️☯️

Great park right across the street from the children's museum. Awesome park with unique features! It doesn't have a kitty playground but it's still a great environment to have all the kids. There's also a train museum or an old train cart for the kids to explore pretty cool and also a giant water Fountain. The graffiti wall is really cool nice and peaceful place to have a picnic or something.

This park was on a few different lists of kid-friendly playgrounds in San Diego so I brought my 3 kids here thinking it would be “kid friendly.” TLDR: It is not kid friendly. The playground is right next to the street, no barriers around the playground either. Many homeless and intoxicated people around, some pushing shopping carts and others riding bikes around on the sidewalks over and over likely looking to sell something. By the train station area there was a man frantically talking to himself. Cherry on top was that the grape play equipment is no where to be seen, perhaps it’s been taken down recently? I did like the barn, farm equipment, and historical houses but definitely would not recommend visiting given every other concern at this park.
Deanna L — Google review
Cleaned every day. Rangers walk regularly to keep the park safe for kids and families. The grounds are regularly groomed and watered and landscaped. The playground is well maintained. The squirrels are hilarious 😂. There is a beautiful hawk that regularly visits the buildings. There are doggy poop bags for those walking their fur babies. My only beef is the women's bathroom hasn't been fixed yet...

We had a blast at Grape Day park in Escondido. Before coming here, I thought it was just your average park with a slide built into a bunch of grapes. But there was a whole second playground with more swings and slides, a huge lawn to run around on, historical exhibits, and more. None of the indoor museum areas were open while we were there but the outdoor train and tractor exhibits were a hit with my son! He also loved the giant water fountain by the city building. One word of caution, we did see a few homeless people sleeping on the park grounds. Next time we find our way back to this park, we will bring our bikes to ride the path nearby. 🚙Free 3-hour parallel parking on N Broadway. Also free parking in the large parking lot off Woodward Ave and N Escondido Blvd 💰This park is free 🎠The play structures are on a mulch ground surface and have standard swings, bucket swings, all abilities swings 🚽Restrooms 🧺Multiple picnic tables scattered around the park 🪑Park benches at playground 🖼Huge lawn 🌳Shady trees 🛣Close to a busy road 🛴Paved sidewalks perfect for small bikes, scooters, roller blades, and strollers. 🚲Designated bike path on the pavement (there’s a barricade between the path and where the cars drive on the street to keep you safe) and runs along N Broadway ➡️W Valley Parkway➡️Center City Parkway➡️Escondido Creek 🏛City center 🏯Historical buildings 🚂Train exhibit 🚜Tractor exhibit 🐎Horseshoe courts

Small park good for reading, studies, play games, and just relax! Grass is well maintained, and there are many homeless people. The actual grape area is closed. The historic landmarks has a working barn, Santa Fe Railroad depot with the train still in tact, tractor, blacksmith shop, historic buildings, museums, large historic tree trunk and the city hall water fountain .

Hamburger restaurant
Burger Bench is a popular spot known for its local focus and industrial-chic setting. Established in 2014, it offers a variety of breakfast options, gourmet burgers, and casual fare made with locally sourced ingredients. The menu includes inventive appetizers like parmesan tater tots and mini corn dogs. The joint also boasts an extensive selection of locally made craft beers to complement the delicious food offerings.
I love coming here, and u can't believe I didn't review it before! Made a stop in for dinner before I left town for a few months, and let me tell you, if you're craving a good quality burger with fries that you can dip in a delicious house-made ranch, this is the place for you! When you walk in, the restaurant is very open and inviting with the menu posted and the wall and over the register, and the beer selection open for everyone to see. And the server is always patient when taking our order. We ordered a Sunrise Burger and the Golden Rooster Chicken Sandwich with a side of fries and ranch. The Sunrise Burger had a fried egg on it that was so good with the bacon inside. Every bite had so much flavor, and it was good quality meat. The patty was smaller than I thought it'd be, but nonetheless it was still so good. The fires were fresh and hot when we got them, and sipping them in the house made the ranch was a great combo. The Golden Rooster Chicken Sandwich had a sliced green apple and a bit of cinnamon in it, which sounds weird, but honestly, paired with the fried chicken pickles, it was so good. Ranch Dip Score 9/10 Overall, I enjoy Burger Bench and think it's a great place for family, friends, or even a date!

After a fun day at the San Diego Safari Park, we stopped by Burger Bench, and we absolutely loved it. We ordered the Classic Burger, which was surprisingly juicy and flavorful even though we asked for it well done. The Mushroom Swiss Burger was just as impressive, with a rich, complex flavor that really stood out. The tater tots were a highlight, perfectly crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and served with your choice of sauce. I can’t remember which sauce we picked, but whatever it was, it was delicious! We’d definitely go back if we’re ever in the area again.

Looks like a fun place...this rating is just for the shake. I jstopped in for a milkshake which Google told me was the best in Escondido... It lied. The best thing really, was the straw!! Awesome straw with big mouth opening! Unfortunately, I couldn't suck anything thru the straw since the oreos weren't blended up enough... Seemed to be more cookie than shake. Meh. Secondly, it took like 10 minutes to get my shake (to go) - I just stood around watching 2-3 workers behind the counter talk and interact with each other and customers... The shake came from the back kitchen which was clearly busy... Hmmm, hello? Management? I'm being nit picky, but I didn't have the greatest experience for a 10 dollar shake!

We were returning home from an all day event and both wanted a casual meaty hamburger. Friends recommended this place, and they were right. Good beef, good beer, casual atmosphere. In addition, the natural fries and onion rings were exactly what we like. An altogether excellent experience.

BEST BREAKFAST in Escondido!!! The Bench Breakfast is where it’s at…2 turntables and a microphone! Top notch ingredients - bacon, homemade gravy and jam. My kids absolutely love coming. Great way to start a weekend!

Nice spot for a good burger in Escondido. Easy counter service, but they still check in on you tableside. Good selection of beer and something to ear for everyone. Sunrise burger and chorizo burger were good. Parmesean truffle fries were delicious. One beer, one N/A beer and two burgers, and a side of fries came out to about $73 after tip, a bit on the pricier side for counter service but good quality.
Brandi B — Google review
Gotta little of everything you'd want when it comes to a burger spot. Have the selection of burgers, chicken sandwiches, melts, appetizers, shakes n drinks. Saw beer on tap as well as soda on fountain 😃 Atmosphere is cool. Stand in line, order from the board, and find yourself a table inside or out. My son is picky, and even though most their burgers are specialty gourmet like, he only wanted meat, cheese n bacon, and that's exactly what they brought out. The buns are a little oily, and my son said the fries taste plain like plastic?? What does he know, haha? I loved it all. Try the bench burger....bomb!

Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve, located near Escondido, offers 11 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The reserve features lush chaparral surroundings with native plants and wildflowers. Visitors can enjoy picnicking in designated areas and take in scenic overlooks of the Pacific Ocean, Channel Islands, and surrounding mountains. The Way Up Trail provides a moderate 4.8-mile hike with impressive viewpoints of the creek valley and Lake Hodges.
Awesome place to hike. Up the way trail is pretty steep but once you finally get to the top it's an awesome view. Dog friendly and so many options at the top to explore. On the way down we did the other landing botanical staging loop.

Got to the reserve about an hour after gates opened and was able to find a parking spot in the main lot, did not check the overflow lot. Bathrooms were clean and maintained but are still portable units. Drinking fountain was available as well. The visitor's center was informative, with lots of educational information about the flora and fauna. Hiked along the botanical trail to start and warm up. Not listed on the maps is that there's a natural crossing across the creek along this trail. Had to assist the kids across. Took the Way Up Trail to the top, the view is worth it. Went through the Me-xal loop and overlook before heading back down.

Cute and simple little place with some good history on the San Diego area as well as archaeology. I found the collection of artifacts and details about the various theories on how North and South America became populated very interesting and easy to follow. If you take the time to read everything and watch the videos (which are on YouTube), you could probably take up to 60 minutes enjoying the place. Average person might be 30 minutes or less. Make sure you check the hours before you come! Entrance is donation-based. They ask for a min of $5 by cash or Venmo

The San Diego Archaeological Center is small so you can see everything in about 15 minutes or take about an hour to read everything on every display. I was the only person in the Center for most of the time I was there. I thought the Center was interesting and I learned a few things. On the other hand, I think most kids would be bored there – no whales or dinosaurs, just thousand-year-old pottery, donut stones, arrowheads, and 125-year-old bottles. The Center asks for a $5 donation.

A slice of paradise hidden in the city. This historical farm site dates back to the 1870’s. Free tours anytime on Sundays from 10am-1pm. Beautiful native California plant gardens surround the house and it is the trailhead to the Coast to Crest trail. There is a historical battleground (Mule Hill) that is a short walk from the house with informative panels. You’ll see lots of wildlife in the area too! They offer private tours and event bookings for weddings, birthdays or other gatherings. Definitely check this one out!

I stopped by when they were having their 150th anniversary. They had a short tour of the house and let you check out the other building there (I think the creamery). It was free, which was super awesome of them. The only thing I will forewarn about is if they do tours, be ready to know they do tours. When I got there, I went straight to the house and didn't see signs stating there were tours or which door they started at. I walked in through the unofficial exit and a gentleman let me know that's where the tour ended. And there weren't any signs for when they strted, like 'tours every 5 minutes' or 'on the hour.' When he told me, I kinda felt like the bad guy for not knowing. But the experience as a whole made up for it.

Felicita Park, located in Escondido, is a sprawling 2,000-acre area that offers a variety of outdoor activities and historical significance. It is one of the oldest Native American settlements in San Diego County, with evidence of Northern Diegueno Indian village still visible. The park features sports fields, playgrounds, walking paths, a disc golf course, and lush oak groves.

Went to this park because my girlfriend and I attended the Escondido renaissance faire in Oct '25. What a surprisingly fun faire considering the lack of promotion online. Compared to bigger faires such as the renaissance pleasure faire in my neck of the woods, this faire definitely holds water. The park its situated in is very well maintained with plenty of space and shade for the festivities. I wouldn't be half surprised if this becomes a yearly adventure for fun at the faire.

Such a beautiful hidden gem! I still can’t decide which side is more beautiful- the one overlooking the lake or the side overlooking the valley in Escondido - at night that side is absolutely magical, and in the day into the sunset hour the lakeside is magical in a whole other way! Either way you can’t go wrong!
Cherie M — Google review
It is my favorite lake in San Diego, however it is mandatory that any trout you catch, you keep. It is ok, to release bass though and if you know the right spot and time it with the spawn, it isn't uncommon to hookup on a 4-5Ib large mouth. Steep sides, with a few docks and boats available to rent. I love this place, so go fish somewhere else haha!

Beautiful place for the family. My husband, my son and I rented a boat for 30$ all day, not bad at all. Free entry during the week. There was a playground, lots of places to explore, my son loved it! We will definitely be back, thank you Dixon lake, all the staff was helpful! There is a tackle shop, they sell snacks too😊 But the one thing is we didn't catch anything, no bites.

What a beautiful area! There are some really nice hiking trails nearby, with varying degrees of roughness (ranging from fully paved to small dirt trails winding through the brush). The lake itself is gorgeous, with several piers that people can sit on and take in the view. There's a small picnic area as well which was quite nice and very close to some parking.

This needs to be on everyone’s to-do list! Their instructors are incredibly-thoughtful, the space is amazing, and it’s such a fantastic way to get out of your comfort zone and try something new. 11/10 recommend!

First time ever for trapeze. Great instruction, beginner class progresses you forward in logical steps. Staff is patient and experienced. This is a legit setup, not some sketchy temporary equipment. I’m pretty average weight and fitness and mid 40’s and was able to have fun and eventually make it to the last part of the beginner class where you actually get caught by an instructor on another bar. If you can hang for a while off a pull up bar and do a few sit-ups you should be able to hang with this class. You may not be graceful up there to start, but it will be fun.

Love, love, love Trapeze High! I was recommended to come here from the staff at Trapeze Heroes in Tokyo - I booked one lesson in advance and ended up visiting for 5 of my 7 day trip. It’s out in a somewhat secluded area with awesome facilities. All the staff are incredibly eager to help you learn anything you’re interested in. Everyone is so fun-loving, energetic and jaw-droppingly talented. This has the most regulars I’ve personally seen with young kids doing tricks all the way up to the famous 87 year-old (who I hope to see next time I’m back!). The students are so talented and I felt like I improved heaps in just the one week. The staff are great at communicating how to improve and pushing you towards your potential. Even ask for some tips on training exercises and they’ll be sure to hook you up! However, if you’ve never done trapeze, don’t fret! I also went to a couple all levels lessons and they are equally as welcoming with first-timers. Trust me, take one lesson and you’ll get absolutely hooked. I so, so wish I could keep coming back more often and be a longer term member of this fabulous community!

Absolutely recommended for birthday party! This has been the most amazing and thrilling experiences the kids ever had. Being able to experience what was seen in “The Greatest Showman” movie, our experiences today with Trapeze High today brought the kids dream into live. We love the catching piece very much, it was so fun and really will drives your adrenaline level high. The Ariel ring and the swinging on the bar were super fun too. All went so well. Thank you Jeremy and Harmony for delivering this amazing day to us.

All I can say is WOW. This place blew me away. They just jump right in with you and teach you quickly how to learn tricks. I felt totally safe and also exilerated. Highly recommend visiting this place. Wonderful for groups also.

If you want the most unique/best experience go to trapeze high. I booked a private lesson for my husbands birthday! It was truly the best date we’ve ever had. Jeremy, Leena and tommy made the day so much fun. They were beyond encouraging. We laughed the entire time. I was genuinely sad when the lesson was over. We will definitely be coming back. Thank you for this experience and being so patient with us. You deserve all the stars ⭐️

What an awesome experience! I went for the gold tour which includes touching and holding some of their reptilian ambassadors. The tour was very informative and interactive. I definitely recommend it if you have children! The tour guide was fun and great with two little ones that were on the tour I was in. I'll be stopping by again!

This is a review for their Eek! Ecotherms birthday party package. Susann was super helpful with coordinating the event and even gave me the idea to have it hosted at my daughter’s school for her 3rd birthday. It was a wonderful treat for the students and teachers, and my daughter had a blast! Susann and Sam were our animal presenters and they did an awesome job of ensuring all the kiddos got a chance to pet the different reptiles. I would definitely recommend booking them for a birthday party.

Family fun and educational... The facilities are filled with welcoming and knowledgeable staff guiding tours to view, pet and hold a number of creatures - including, lizards, snakes, and bugs. we've taken the basic tour and the platinum tour and they are both well worth the time and spend, especially with funds going towards such a great cause.

Awesome experience! Susan the owner and Donny the guide were so accommodating and knowledgeable. We took our granddaughter and she wanted to pet and hold all of the animals. She was fearless and Susan and Donny gave her every opportunity to interact with the animals. I felt sorry for some of the animals being raised in small enclosures, but after hearing their stories of how they ended up at their sanctuary, I realized they probably saved their lives and are providing them a better quality of life than before. We will definitely return and let our family and friends know of this wonderful sanctuary.

We weren't sure what to expect, but we had a great visit. My teenage son and I learned a lot. The tour was very interactive and reasonably priced. This is great for any reptile fan or reptile fan in training. Plan for an hour or two. Some tours require prior booking, others are available as walk-ins.

Forgotten Barrel Winery, situated in the heart of Escondido Wine Country, is a top-notch wine destination and a sought-after wedding venue for couples in Southern California. The winery boasts acres of lush greenery and stunning views, making it an ideal setting for special occasions. With a flexible catering and vendor policy, clients have the freedom to personalize their events. Visitors can savor superior wine varieties at the adjacent Forgotten Barrel tasting room or explore exclusive varietals.
Forgotten barrel is definitely the place to get married at. Chris and Alyssa made our experience perfect! They have the best vendors and the most romantic venue. If you are looking for something rustic dark but also beautiful this is the place. Has the best places for photos Thank you for the best wedding venue we could ask for

I recently visited Forgotten Barrel and was disappointed with the service I received. While the ambiance and wine selection were quite good, my experience was overshadowed by an issue with the billing. After enjoying a bottle of Sangiovese on site, I purchased a bottle of Chardonnay to take home. Upon receiving my bill, I noticed that a tip had been added without my consent. I believe that tipping should be a voluntary gesture of appreciation, based on the quality of service provided. When I brought this to the staff's attention, I was met with indifference and a lack of concern for my situation. Rather than addressing my concerns and ensuring I felt valued as a customer, they seemed more interested in deflecting blame. I had hoped for a more customer-friendly approach that would make me want to return in the future. Unfortunately, the handling of this situation has left me hesitant to visit again. I hope forgotten barrel considers this feedback and makes improvements to their customer service approach, as the quality of wine deserves a better overall experience.

What a gem! You would never expect such an amazing winery in the suburbs of Escondido. We had my mother’s 98th birthday here and I couldn’t have wished for a more perfect setting. The owners were gracious and the experience divine! I highly recommend this beautiful and peaceful setting for your next winery adventure. The music was an added pleasure. 🌟

Forgotten Barrel is the perfect place to have small but absolutely beautiful wedding. Its tucked away in a quiet neighborhood but once you see it in person its just stunning. Everyone there helped make out day so perfect. The reception hall is breathtaking just as is. All the small details made it so much easier for us to fall in love with it. So thankful we were able to spend our day there with all our friends and family.

Belle Marie Winery, located in Escondido, California, is a charming family-owned boutique winery set on 3 1/2 acres of lush citrus groves. The winery offers a variety of more than 20 different wines each year, including red blends, single varietal reds, white blends and varietals, rose wines, and dessert wines.
Such a great spot for wine tasting without reservations if you’re a group of less than 9 people, they not only offer the wine tasting flight but also a picnic bag with delicious snacks, came because of the reviews and definitely did not disappoint at all!! The lady at the front desk was very friendly! Definitely would be coming back!

What a beautiful hidden gem right off of I-15! As you pull in, you’re greeted by fragrant lemon and orange trees … atop the hill there is a quaint castle that would be perfect for a vineyard wedding. The vineyard offers breathtaking 360 degree views of lush greenery, mountain tops, and blue California sky - there is a photo op everywhere you turn. Once you realize you spent an hour taking photos you realize you’re there for some wine and relaxation. Nestled between the caste and the tasting room are a varietal of seating areas - some shaded, some not; the outdoor area is pet friendly too! The owners welcomed us as if we had known them for ages and introduced us to their wine tasting menu. The wine selection was delightful; fragrant white wines, a rose you could sip all day, and a stunning selection of reds. Belle Marie is an absolute must! I am looking forward to visiting here again. Thank you for the memories!

Beautiful winery and great views. It was a warm evening and I enjoyed my flight of whites. The brut was especially extraordinary. I will be back and just get a glass of that! Very friendly staff/owners and the grounds are lovely. I will be back! PS they only sell snacks their but they are very okay with you bringing food there to have a picnic with the wine (which is what I did)

Stopped for a short while and unexpectedly discovered a really good wine: Artisan 2018 Private Reserve blend. We enjoyed it as well as the beautiful surroundings. We’ll be back to taste more wines.

We've always seen this winery from the freeway and say "we have to remember to stop there next time" and today we finally made it! The wine is great and the owners are amazing! Everything from the way the tasting is presented to the actual taste of the wine was really awesome. My Dad and I opted for the red flight, the wines weren't bitter like some can be, they were very smooth. Plenty of outdoor seating and the grounds where the winery is located are breathtaking. They also have a nice selection of cheese and snacks, as well as sodas for the kiddos (or my hubby the DD today). The owners were amazing and gave us a run down and some interesting tidbits on the wine and how they came up with the awesome presentation of the tastings. We got to meet Max as well, sweet, sweet doggy Max. Great place to bring the family, and dog if you like and just relax and enjoy some wonderful wine and maybe a nosh. Also a great space for an event, especially during the Summer evenings. We will for sure be back!

Nestled in the vibrant downtown Escondido, Jacked Up Brewery is a must-visit for craft beer enthusiasts. This charming brewery offers a unique selection of brews, including their standout porter that has garnered attention among locals and visitors alike. The atmosphere is inviting, with an industrial-chic interior complemented by a spacious outdoor patio that's perfect for enjoying your drink under the stars.
Farewell to a wonderful little brewery and small business. It's spacious and has great events. It seems like there is line dancing every Sunday. Outdoor patio and lots of indoor seeing. Beer is tasty. The staff is amazing, and there are staple beers, and the taps rotate pretty regularly. It is one of the best places to stop in escondido.

Honestly one of the coolest breweries I've been too, they've got a live band setup with a patio outside as well. The space is large I bet you could fit 75 heads in here easily without it being too crowded. The beers are tasty, just wish they had a crispy lager or pilsner on. I'll definitely be back soon!
Hal J — Google review
What a find!? I had the pleasure of enjoying some of the finest brews this last weekend in San Diego when visiting Jacked Up with my closest high school friend. This delightful micro brewery serves up an amazing collection of frosty adult options that will delight anyone selective pallet. We both ordered up a “flight” so we could sample some options. We were not disappointed. We sampled the El Gato Lager, which is like a Mexican lager. The Scottish Ale was good, as was the Cream Ale. Now let’s talk about their darker brothers. This is where they truly excel. The Peanut Butter Cereal Stout was nice, but I’ve tasted others with a more peanut buttery taste, but this one is still quite good. The flavors in the Rye Whiskey Stout are well balanced. The Smoked Porter is one of my Favorites. All too often, brewers get too carried away with the smoke. This brewer got it right. He balanced the smoke with the various malts and hops. He obviously used the smoke as a supporting element and not the primary flavoring ingredient. Well done and smartly done. Now for the Stout. I have to say, its name is simple, but its flavor is not. This is the best and most well-balance and complex stout I’ve had in a long time. There is a lot going on. I don’t drink a lot of stouts. Especially in the summer, as I’m from Phoenix, Arizona. But this stout ranks as being one you don’t want to pass up at any time of the year. I hope this is not a seasonal brew for them. The last one I’d like to mention is their unique Dragon Fruit IPA. IPAs are now the rage. The problem is there’s a sea of mediocrity out there. However, this one does NOT fall into that category. It is as exceptional as it is unique. Their Dragon Fruit IPA is very deceptive. It goes down way too easy. It is light and not heavily hopped, very fruity, using the actual fruit, not extract, and boasts 10% alcohol, without an alcohol taste. This falls in the “unique” IPA category and IS QUITE DELIGHTFUL AND DANGEROUS. Even so, have fun with it. We were there on a Thursday afternoon and returned late Saturday afternoon/evening when they had a band there. The only thing missing was good food. I spoke with one of the owners. She is a delightful woman, and told me they are working toward offering food soon. I look forward to returning to Jacked Up, on my next visit to San Diego.
DB H — Google review
Cool brewery. Got a couple flights here to try out their brews. They have a very unique dragon fruit IPA which was interesting. Haven’t had anything like it. Their DIPA was really good. Most of their beers are lighter in body and make good lighter summer drinks. Staff was great.
Jeremy L — Google review
If I can be quite honest, I wasn’t a huge fan of their beer. Some of it was flat, and other was quite bitter. It felt like it had lost a lot of carbonation from being in the keg. Something wasn’t right in this whole taste zone. However, owners:brewers(I believe) were pretty receptive of my feedback when I talked to them. Not that I’m an expert in Brewing, but a good constructive feedback is always good. They told me some stuff, and kinda made sense why I may have got that taste from those beers I bought. I love the branding, and truly feel that for the short amount of time they’ve been running; they can grow pretty big. Their Irish milk stout was by far my favorite, but I hear their dragon fruit might be the good one here. Def need to go back and have some, since it wasn’t available when I went. My four stars are for their friendliness, great branding, humbleness and for their Irish milk stout.

My husband and I stumbled upon this place and we were not disappointing! He enjoyed the beer and I got a huckleberry hard seltzer and it was fantastic. We also have the large soft pretzel and it was amazing. Highly recommend you ask for double the beer cheese because it’s so good. They make it with their own beer. If we lived in the area, we would go back!

Discover the rich history of Escondido, California at the Escondido History Center. The area was once home to indigenous tribes like the Kumeyaay and Diegueno before Spanish explorers arrived in 1776. The center features permanent and rotating exhibits that delve into various aspects of local history, including World War II, the Railroad Depot, model trains, historical photography, and artifacts. Additionally, it hosts events such as historic home tours and car shows.
This place is very cool. The older I get, the more I have come to appreciate the Escondido History Center. Their web site is full of really cool information and photographs, and when you come here in person, you will see more of that, and feel immersed in the history around you. There is an old train, a Victorian house, a blacksmith shop, and more. Some of the places have a docent, while others are self-guided. I really hope we are able to keep these places open to remember history. Please donate and support places like this, so we don't forget history!

My friend and I had the pleasure of meeting the Executive Director, Cynthia, when we visited Grape Day Park over the weekend (August 2025). It was just happenstance that we ran into her and we are so grateful Cynthia gave us an insightful tour of the Santa Fe Depot and the Victorian House. We learned so much about the history of Escondido -- from the first settlers who arrived through land grants, the diversion of water from the Native Americans, the rise and fall of industries to the life of the Hoffman Family and their contemporaries. Can't wait to come back and check out the Bandy Blacksmith and Wagon Works and a hopefully restored 1929 Pullman railcar!

Very helpful and knowledgeable staff, much appreciated. Excellent collection of historical pictures. This was our first real visit to Escondido and we were delighted to learn more about the city and the people here. Our only disappointment were the Historic District Walking Tour maps, which are beautifully done but way outdated with multiple annoying discrepancies and omissions. Nestled in the San Pasqual Valley near Escondido, Cordiano Winery is a charming family-owned vineyard and winery. The winery boasts a picturesque outdoor dining area with stunning views of the surrounding valleys. The Cordiano family, originally from Calabria, Italy, fulfilled their dream of producing Italian-style wines when they converted their avocado farm into a vineyard in the 1990s.
Views are amazing at this winery if you get a table near the mountains. We made a reservation for 2 people at 4 pm and it wasn’t too busy. Around 6:30 pm, it got so crowded! Lots of people bring their kids and dogs. We got the wine flight for $25. The wine was pretty flat. I still give it 5 stars because the food, views, and service was great. Could have more air fresheners in the bathroom. Overall great experience.

This is my first time visiting this winery. It's located in a spot with a great view. I think the best time to come is probably at dusk. The food seems to be mainly pasta and pizza. The pizza was very delicious.
Hitoshi K — Google review
Overall, a fantastic experience from the nice, fun drive up the hill to the beautiful grounds and view to the very good service, food, and beverages. They have a wide range of wines made from local grapes as well as some from other regions. I'm not a wine expert as they pretty much all taste good to me! My only wine criticism is the $25 price for a sampler totalling only 8 oz of wine. I think they'd generate more bottle sales by reducing that price and/or adding more samples. The food, which you order at the beverage counter for delivery to your numbered table, was very good: Meatball appetizer: three big balls in tomato sauce with a delicious whipped ricotta and lightly toasted crostini bread. Minor criticisms are that the meatballs, which are clearly a blend of beef and pork, have too much of a pork flavor and are a bit too dense for me. Also, I don't know which brand of canned tomatoes they use, but it doesn't have a great, rich tomato + spices flavor. They should be using one of the Stanislaus brands like Alta Cucina, 7/11 Ground, or Tomato Magic. Calamari appetizer: a medium-sized plate of large and reasonably tender rings with a few tentacles. Minor criticisms are that they could have been left in the fryer a bit longer and served with tartar sauce in addition to the marinara. Pizza: very good crust with a golden bottom and cornicione with tasty toppings. They claim it's New York style, but IMO it's really not. New York style has a thinner, more chewy crust while this is lighter and more bread-like, but not too thick. I don't know how long they ferment the dough, but it could use more flavor. While the topping were very tasty and generous on the Stagioni version, they were a bit too sparse on the Meat version. On both, the tomato sauce was barely noticeable. They need to add a little more and use one of the brands mentioned above to take their pizza up a level.

It's our first time here at Cordiano winery and the place was so beautiful! The drive up to the to winery is also so refreshing and makes you feel you are headed to a countryside. I recommend a reservation to get a table with a view. You would need to walk over to the bar counter to place your food order. We tried the breadsticks with a garlic flavor, the best we have had in San Diego. The basil pesto pasta was equally good. The vegetarian pizza was ordinary, Tiramisu was a nice finish to wrap up a beautiful evening with incredible sunsets. Overall, the food was great and the views make it worth the visit.

We visited on Thursday and enjoyed the food, the service, and the wine. The staff was attentive and provided great recommendations for food and wine. The views were nice, and there was a lot of room between the tables, so we could enjoy ourselves. I drank the Tempranillo - Estate wine, and it was great. I had the Spaghetti Bolognese, which was good, but my mother had the Penne Basil Pesto, and it was amazing! And to finish the meal, we had delicious tiramisu. We definitely plan on returning.

San Diego Children's Discovery Museum is a fun and educational place for kids to explore science, art, and cultures from around the world. The museum has four main areas (Imagine, Explore, Experiment, and Discover) where kids can learn about everything from chemistry to martial arts. There's always something new to do at the San Diego Children's Discovery Museum so be sure to check it out when you're in the area!
A really fun place for children. Perfect for ages 2 to 8, or maybe even a little older depending upon their attitude. Not very large, but plenty of activities to explore and learn from. Most very young children are too young to grasp the science concepts at each station, but they will receive some didactic experience with the forces and grow in curiosity and understanding. It has most stations that other regional discovery centers have, it’s just a much smaller facility - which is perfect for small children with short legs:-). Reading nook Aquarium Outdoor xylophone Outdoor stage Wind tunnel Large Lite brite Nature exhibits Magnet and Metal Ball drop Plenty of building stations Large low chalk board Etc… All my younger kids loved it. Not for teens! Perfect for young children.

Parking is a little tight. Place is in the center of a Escondido across from grape day park. It's does have snacks for purchase but no food court like the museum in Downtown San Diego since this one is a little smaller. There is a play area for babies were I could entertain my 6 months old while looking at my 4 year old. It has AC inside. There's an outdoor area, I suggest you have your child wear sandals because mine got water on her shoes while watering the plants. Went on a Saturday at noon and it wasn't that busy even though there was an even at grape Day park. Found parking no problem but it started to pick up by 1pm.

A perfectly sized museum and center for kids to learn and have hands-on fun activities. This museum is divided into two areas: indoor and outdoor. The indoor area has sections and setups to do pretend grocery shopping, understand some physics principles around fluid dynamics and gravity, learn about money (financial center), pretend kitchen area, pretend laundry area, learn about common bugs and insects, etc. There is also an enclosed and safe play area for toddlers (2 and younger). The outdoor area also has a variety of activity sections. They have sand boxes to let kids do some fossil finding, flowing water to do some gold mining / search, plant sections explaining various veggies, compost center to play around with worms, gardening section, obstacle course , pollination center and an enclosure with a pet turtle. They also run sessions where kids can make their own fossils. Overall a great place to spend time with little kids and educating them on some of the common activities and things around us. To top it all off, the staff is super nice and the place has ample free parking. Definitely a place to visit.

We love this place. Great for little kids. They have a lot packed into a small area, nice that it is very contained (your kids can't escape far). Gated area for babies as well. Nice outdoor space & water table. They also have daily "schedule" activities/crafts kids can participate in.

My daughter is a toddler, and she loves to come here to play. It is a great place for children to explore, play, and experiment with different settings, including water play, garden area, air, lights, and creative building. Well worth the trip.

Visiting from out of town and came across the Children's Discovery Museum and so glad we did. Took my 21 month old daughter and we had the best time. The tidal pool little kid area was so nice to break away from the bigger kids and play, plus the real fish aquarium was a lot of fun to watch and see. We enjoyed the life size Lite Bright, the huge water table, and so many more kids stations. All the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming and showed us around. Would definitely recommend to locals as well as those visiting San Diego and surrounding areas.

Dixon Lake is a fantastic destination for outdoor enthusiasts looking to immerse themselves in nature. Nestled in Escondido, this picturesque lake offers diverse camping options, whether you prefer lakeside spots or sites with stunning city views. For those seeking a more comfortable experience, there's a cabin available for rent that accommodates families and larger groups with nearby tent sites. The area is brimming with activities like hiking, fishing, and boating.
Wow, one of the best camping lakes in southern california. Super clean, great fishing, lots of shade, unfortunately you can't swim in the lake. But that's ok. I will be back!!
Frank M — Google review
Great area to go to for fishing. Daley Ranch is just outside the entrance of Dixon Lake if you like hiking and mountain biking. Dixon Lake offers fishing and fishing licenses. There is also a concession stand and picnic areas. The campground is a bit tricky navigate. Finding the sites is easy, but parking and setting up your tent is the tricky part. I wouldn't recommend many of the sites for people who have mobility problems.

I have so many happy memories of this lake and park over many years … a moonlit Fourth of July out on the lake in a boat, fishing with a friend, with fireworks exploding in the distant sky — bliss … another friend’s big picnic there the day after her wedding … plus camping there. Check out my sunrise photo here. If you get up early you’ll also see birdlife (egrets?) visiting the water’s edge. This is an affordable, family oriented, almost hidden gem, less known to people beyond northern San Diego county. A huge plus is the adjacent Daley Ranch, a hiking destination.

Great place to visit, fish, and relax. The bluegill in this lake are enormous.

Gorgeous lake for camping, fishing, boating. All kinds of trails around. Paid entry on weekends. Super friendly rangers out and about that give great tips about spots to check out. I went to the small waterfall today on advice of ranger. You can't loop around the lake. Most trails are north of the lake with some connecting to Daley Ranch trails. Free parking at the Daley Ranch parking lot and you can walk by Dixon lake ranger station Lots of facilities, trash cans and porta-potties all over. Very clean and well maintained. Photos and videos are from today

We love it here! It’s easy to go to and we just pack a cooler, a pop-up tent, a table top grill some food and make a day out of it and do some fishing. It only cost five dollars to get in if you just wanna go relax out in nature Walk around have a picnic just hang out. If you want to fish, it’s 10 for adults and seven for children so it’s reasonable. We haven’t had much luck with the fish lately, so I’m not sure how often they stock but that’s the only thing that I would say is a bit frustrating because we haven’t caught much the last few times we’ve gone and neither have all the people around us. Other than that great spot. The restrooms could use a little bit more attention in the middle of the afternoon and the end of the afternoon and they could use some more pontoon boats.!
KJ J — Google review
A beautiful and scenic area with multiple fishing docks and a boating area. Many trails to walk through. Although somewhat small for a nature area it is still a nice and partly quiet place to go in the mornings. Around 5pm is when the parking area and fishing areas start to get much more busy so if you want to be more alone on your hike then you're going to want to go as early as you can, really.
Sean B — Google review
My group did not camp; though I wish we would have. We only saw the lake and had our event in the Day Use area of the park. It is definitely one of the cleanest parks around. It is beautifully maintained. The lake is stocked with trout during it's season; with about $8 for fishing license, you can relax and enjoy the scenery. Primitive campsites available for cheapest price in town. I would definitely recommend checking out this hidden gem.

Daley Ranch Park is a stunning conservation area that beckons outdoor enthusiasts with its expansive 3,000 acres of natural beauty. This remarkable preserve features over 20 miles of trails perfect for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. As you traverse the diverse landscapes—ranging from rolling hills to lush oak woodlands—you'll be treated to breathtaking views that make every step worthwhile.
Great place to hike; can spend hours hiking these trails. The park is huge. Includes wider trails for hiking, and narrower trails for mountain biking. The park can be divided into two areas. The popular hike to Stanley Peak (6 miles round trip) makes up the eastern trails. The much larger northwestern portion includes the ranch house, a few other peaks (not accessible since they are on private land), and longer hiking trails. After finishing Stanley, I came back to hike Burnt Mountain, though there is no official trail that leads up there (it just traverses around it). However, following the trails from the park entrance, it turned out to be an 8-9 mile loop. Nevertheless there are still exceptional views besides the peaks. Also there's ponds near the ranch house, and an old water tower. I would not recommend hiking when it's hot. Every time I've gone, it's been warm with very low humidity. Bring water!
Zach F — Google review
Beautiful hike, great workout. We started at the parking lot and took Creek Crossing to Sage Trail to Stanley Peak, then returned via the lake and Ranch House. A little over 7 miles total.
Julie U — Google review
I’ve hiked here many times over decades, including some moonlit summer hikes with groups years ago. I even used to rent horses to ride through the ranch in a group a long time ago. The history and views, including wildlife, are wonderful. I’m grateful this land was set aside for us all to enjoy. Escondido gets really hot in summer, so morning is a good time to go then. Consider putting booties on your dog’s feet because some parts of at least one area near the historical ranch house are paved. Take water. There are historical, botanical, and bird life information plaques, plus public restrooms. Parking is free in the area across the road from Dixon Lake. This place is popular. Mountain bikers use the trail. There are some plants up there that can cause rashes if you make contact, plus some big ants on the trail sometimes, so read the information plaques to be aware of your surroundings. If you make contact with poison oak, wash the oil off your skin as soon as you can, to avoid blisters. Enjoy the oaks, and the flowering manzanita and ceanothus, depending on the season. Happy trails!

There are signs on daily ranch of mountain lions around the area . Im assuming they are being posted because they are more sightings of them. Usually , mountain lions are solitary. I have seen a pack of big brown coyotes before, but they halted at my presence and then walked away. I went on a run and took north quail road and at 8:45am I decided to deviate to the left to take the Stanley Peak trail . I only took a few steps, because im not quite familiar with that trail, when I suddenly saw 2 big brown “dogs” walking my way. They were not on the trail but on the dry short bushes walking toward the dirt trail. One was smelling the dry bushes, and the other one was walking. I Know they were not coyotes because they didn’t have long erect ears. They were too far away for me to see them clearly, but I wasn’t planning to waste precious time taking a picture of them. I walked slowly the way I came and ran back quail road. I only ran about 50 feet away when I ran into another runner, and we ended up team tagging our jog together.
P — Google review
Large open park with connecting trails. Quite steep from the start but once you get over that first hump the central trail stays easiest the walk. The trails heading northwest and northeast can have some challenging areas. Unfortunately the severe rain earlier this year has damaged the trails. Use hiking poles if you have them. You can stay out here for 4-6 hours, depending on your route and pace. Free parking, even on busy days like today I could easily find a spot. You can use the restrooms at the lake, which is a few minutes walk from parking and free entry when you walk. Main restroom building is located near the Ranch House. There are trash cans located all over the park and it definitely helps keeping the trails clean. Altho it can look busy, once you're more on the the outer sides of the park you have lots of quiet. Some more narrow trails are more suitable for mountain bikers that hikers. Check out their site for the map

Made this trip for a scouts camping trip this weekend. Easy camping, beautiful park, lake, and excellent hiking. Safely drive to great locations with magnificent views. 5/5 destination rating, difficulty level is 3/10, but beware of animals snooping around for food around the clock. Keep your camp clean and all food secured and you will have a great time!

Beautiful in springtime. So green. There has been so much rain, so everything is growing. You can see where there were fires that burned trees and shrubs there are now fields of new vegetation and flowers thriving. Life goes on!
Atalie F — Google review
Daley ranch is a strong 4.5 stars. It has many trails with varying hiking/biking conditions with streams, waterfalls, and ponds. In the spring, there are an assortment of beautiful blooming plants. Throughout the week, there can range between nearly no one there, to a completely filled up parking lot. The trails are kept up enough, but I lot of the nice details, such as signs of plant names and information have graffiti on them or have been destroyed. On busy days, the trails stink of dog poop because of lazy owners. There are literally trash bins available throughout nearly all off the trails. Please be courteous to others and the environment and pick up your trash, or other trash that is laying around. Overall this place is beautiful and very enjoyable. For exercise, or trying to find a calm soothing atmosphere , come on by. Cheers!

Hungry Hawk Vineyards & Winery is a renowned winery located in Escondido, California. The family-owned estate spans ten acres in the picturesque San Pasqual Valley and is known for its sustainable farming practices. The rustic California-designed tasting room offers a selection of varietals from Spain, France, and Italy, with over 25 unique wines released annually. Visitors can enjoy tastings in the air-conditioned room or relax on the outdoor patio while taking in stunning views of the valley.
We had no reservations and were seated right away under a nice gazebo for our party of 6. We had a great view of the beautiful winery and vista. The waitress came over and took our orders for our tastings so that was nice that everything was table service. She checked in on us often too. We did the reserved red tastings and all the wines were delicious! We tried their port and went home with two bottles of that as well.

I was disappointed with the service I received when it came to wine selection. The staff members responsible for serving the wine seemed unfamiliar with the proper protocols and etiquette associated with wine service. As a result, I felt undervalued as a customer, despite the high prices comparable to what one would expect from a sommelier. I believe improvements in staff training could enhance the overall experience significantly. The music was amazing! I love the gild and the piano. She is so talented!! Thank you.

Lots of wine flight and by the glass choices. We had a great time tasting a variety of wines and really enjoyed everything we tried. We loved the Estate Cuvee white and the Chardonnay so much that we took a bottle of each home. A nice outdoor seating with fans and misters to keep you cool on a hot day.

Nice atmosphere but the view is kind of blocked from the patio. The tasting room feels a bit cold as well.

My first time here, I found it while researching online. Surprisingly great wines, with lots of awards. My favorite was the Recon (I prefer full bodied red wines) and this one was a home run.

Excellent wines, family-owned business, beautiful, intimate patio with a great view. Live music! Exceptional way to spend an afternoon! Doesn't feel commercialized like some of the larger vineyards in the area. Highly recommend!!

Cozy, well controlled tasting environment with a balanced array of whites reds and sparkling to taste. Bit on the pricey side for bottles but quality is there coming directly from their fields on site and it doesn't seem to be possible to buy from local wine shops

Beautiful winery in San Diego. This will turn out to be one of my favorite wineries we have visited. Espinoza Vineyards and Winery is amazing. We love this place and the proprietors are lovely. Very cool winery in Escondido. The wines are pretty good — rose was dry and good. Other wines were good. Grounds were very clean and welcoming — kids are welcome, which made it even better. You can bring your own food although they have a cheese plate. Would highly recommend in the area. The owners are very nice and accommodating — really nice place.

My fiancée and I truly loved this place and enjoyed their wines. If you’re a fan of red wines you should check this place out. The Tempranillo is delicious and we brought back a bottle. We were recommended this vineyard by another vineyard, Grant James. We didn’t know that reservations were recommended and when we showed up they were very busy. However Noelle and Roberto made room for us and had one of their daughters clean a table. The wines are all super delicious. They have an amazing outside tasting area that is both tranquil and beautifully decorated. Thank you so much for an amazing time, I will let everyone know how wonderful this place is.

Ray, the owner was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The cabernet was exquisite, I was not expecting that kind of complexity and tannin-goodness. Great local wines especially the Sangiovasi and friendly people... (most expensive tasting in the region for three tastes even though the Sangiovese is outstanding)
Steve T — Google review
We went yesterday to celebrate a friends birthday and I was a lil skeptical on the drive there. One because they were only doing wine by the bottle and no tastings were available, two because they were fresh out of whites and three because we found out that the venue was at a house….. but after arriving we were greeted by the owners amazing daughter. Sorry I’m horrible with names, otherwise I’d give her a shout out. She served us the entire time we were there! She was very kind and welcoming and attentive. It was a lil warm and she brought out so much ice water to keep us cool the entire 4 hours we were there. We had 3 bottles while we were there and I liked all 3 but my favorite was the cab that I got to take home. It was a beautiful cozy adventure and I would definitely go back to try their whites!

Most of the wine is not estate grown and personally that is something that interests me in local wine tasting . The one estate grown variety was our favorite on the tasting menu. Our server was very friendly and a breath of fresh air. The owner stopped by and visited our table, which was very nice. The tasting includes crackers and chocolate, however there was not a wine that really stood out to us. The tasting area was a bit 'busy' feeling even though we were one of the only ones there.

Awesome little theater. I've been in the theater most of my life. But my wife has only been exposed to large production theater. This was her first exposure to small community theater. I think she really enjoyed it. The staff is very warm and accommodating. The theater was cozy. Not a bad seat in the house. They brought a table of food and goodies out after the plane. I didn't know if that was for the audience or for the cast. But the cookies really looks good 😊 I had to return a glass to the restaurant next door so we didn't stick around. I may have missed out 😉

This was a fantastic play and the actors were wonderful! The management was very concerned about checking for vaccination proof and people were Vigilant about wearing their masks in the theater. There are a few lovely places nearby to eat either before or after the show. I give this my highest recommendation! Please keep up the good work

Will never come here. We purchased tickets to see a Christmas play and when we got there they were asking for everyone to be vaccinated. This was never written anywhere else prior to purchasing tickets. But despite showing them our vaccination card, they refused to let us in because our kids were not vaccinated even though they’re very young. I don’t have a problem with the vaccine rules but the lady at the box office was very nasty and rude about it and never apologized for failing to communicate about the vaccine requirements. We had driven 45 mins just to see that play and our kids were very disappointed. We weren’t the only ones turned away either. The couple in front of us was also very surprised to hear about these rules and even a separate employee told us he was concerned about the attendance because it was supposed to be a sold out show but so far only 8 people had been able to get it. Not cool.

Our group did the Hawk Walk and it was a very nice and unusual experience to be able to have a hawk safely land and sit on your arm (with help from the handlers)—without going thru the many years of training you would otherwise need to be able to interact in such a way with a bird of prey. The facility is very well-kept and has a number of other unusual birds and animals. (A reservation is required.)

AMAZING!! I visited today with my "Make A Wish" kid. Her wish was to interact with tropical birds. Hillary, Nolan and the birds did not disappoint!! My wish kid was over the moon! She was able to interact with macaws, owls, a crane and a raven. WOW! In addition, Hillary and Nolan showed us many vultures and some other birds and gave us lots of information about them. We were also able to watch some of the birds in free flight. So beautiful and majestic. I couldn't be more thankful to know that this organization was able to make our wish girl's bird dreams come true. She even was gifted some beautiful feathers that I know will be treasured for a long time. If you like birds (or even if you don't) do not miss visiting this treasure you won't be disappointed in your level of interaction! Thank you ABI for your time and generosity!!

This was our second time visiting the Avion Behavior Conservancy, this time we did the Hawk Walk tour. My family and I had an incredible experience with the birds! We first had Oakley the Harris Hawk fly to our gloves from different areas on the walk, and she was super impressive! Then we had Beatrix the Barn Owl fly to our gloves. We opted for the add on "Paint with a Raven" which my mother loved, and we couldn't stop laughing at how enjoyable it was! The caretakers were super knowledgable about the different species. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

My husband treated me to the Owl Experience and it was such a lovely morning! The birds are so obviously loved and cared for here. Each with their very own distinctive personalities we got to meet and learn about different owls. If you're a bird lover GO!

Hillary and her crew (Nolan and Roxanne) are outstanding! They’re knowledgeable, friendly, and love their animals! It was such a treat to be amongst birds of prey!!

Hillary and her team were very accommodating with our schedule, and we dove right into the experience once we arrived. It was just my husband and myself so it felt very personal and we were able to ask so many questions. It was so amazing to learn about 3 different owls. Each was unique. We also had some wild bird experience with Ravens chasing a Golden Eagle over head. Very exciting! Highly recommend. Hillary was very knowledgeable and cared deeply for her birds.

We booked a bird experience where Hillary introduced us to several of her birds and we got to see many of them enjoy some flight time. It was a highlight of our vacation! Hillary is also just a treasure trove of interesting information with all of her education and experience. We learned a lot and had a ton of fun.

Great spot with vintage wines to taste and purchase at reasonable pricing. Tasting fees are rolled into the price of a bottle of you purchase one. The car collection is wow, wow, wow. Also has Old memorabilia of USA - TVs, radios, Barbies, celebrity swag, etc. a great, unique off the mainstream gem to visit.

Look, they have so many different convertibles to look at that it could literally take a half a day to see them all. The wine was good. There are some other things to look at and do on site, and there are some awesome picture moments. Yes, it's going to cost you some money to look at the cars - pay it. It's worth it. Do the $30.00 package of wines and buy two bottles. It's worth it. The staff is kind and welcoming, and supporting a place like this is always a good investment.

The car collection at this Auto Museum is truly incredible. I was amazed by the lineup of beautifully preserved American cars. Each car is displayed with great care and plenty of historical info, which really adds to the appreciation. Alongside the incredible 1950s cars, the museum also features vintage TVs, radios, and vintage soda machines!

Wow! This is truly a gem. Really good wine. Great service and lots of nostalgic memories. Over 100 classic autos. It is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. I can't believe it took so long for us to discover this masterpiece.

A very nice place for those who appreciate vintage cars. Located in a beautiful setting. We did the six wine tasting, the 2 red wines we chose were not good, the 3rd was very good, the apricot wine was good, we chose a chardonnay which was very good as well, the champagne we chose was good as well. It's worth a stop.

My husband and I stumbled across this museum. We were amazed at how large this place really is. The entry of the museum is only $10 for each adult. This museum is more than meets the eye. Not only do they have an amazing classic car collection, but they also have antique radios, televisions, and of course, Barbie collection! You name it they have from the past. This museum is a must-see. I will be bringing my family here for the holidays for them to experience the museum but also the wine tasting! This place is truly one of the best kept secrets in Escondido! My pictures couldn't capture the wonder of this place! You truly need to be there in person. You won't regret it!

My experience at The Vineyard at Escondido was fantastic! I had always wanted to try golfing but really had no idea what to expect. The staff was so welcoming and explained things thoroughly which lowered my anxiousness. Customer service was certainly on par. The general manager Jose was genuinely excited for me making contact with the golf balls on the green especially for a newbie which made me feel like I belong. The grounds are beautiful! We saw turtles in the ponds, the greens were plush, and the views of vineyards and the mountains are breathtaking. The 18 holes are well thought out and challenging. I can’t imagine the hours that go into keeping those grounds so well kept. I didn’t get to spend too much time at the driving range but I’ll be sure to spend more time there at my next visit. Oh and the clubhouse had some great food on the menu, and a full bar to enjoy a cocktail or refreshment. Newbies and experienced players alike would have a great experience at The Vineyard like I did. I could tell a lot of people there were experienced players and everyone was so kind. I’m already looking forward to my next visit.

Played third week of July, 10am tee time on a Thursday. Course was busy. Overall decent course for the price. Staff was friendly and helpful. They had double booked my tee time with another group but starter got it figured out quickly. Unfortunately the golfers that play here might be less experienced or just don’t care. Every green had multiple divots to fix. On a hole following a tee shot watched another golfer pickup my ball. When approached about it he denied taking it. Course could be in better shape but for the price not sure more could be expected.
Craig D — Google review
Played course on November 2nd, 2024. Course amenities are good. Nice full size driving range with trackman technology. Also a chipping/putting area. Range is mats only though. As for the course it's ok. Some tee boxes are pretty rock hard and make it hard to even get a tee inside. Also multiple tee boxes were closed making par 3's less than 100 yards. Fairways are pretty patchy for it to just now starting to get cold. Bunkers barely have any sand inside of them which was basically hitting on rocks. Greens are the best part of the course. They are well kept and roll pretty nice although they are soft. The course layout is also nice and makes you think about your club selection on the tee box. Hopefully when I come back next year it's a bit better but not bad for the first visit.

A Perfect Venue for a Bridal Shower! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I recently hosted a bridal shower at the Vineyard at Escondido Golf Course, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience! We rented their club facility, and it was absolutely stunning. The recent renovations have truly elevated the space—it’s elegant, modern, and beautifully designed, creating the perfect ambiance for our celebration. From the beginning, the staff was incredibly professional and attentive. A special shoutout to Samantha, who coordinated our event flawlessly. She was responsive, organized, and went above and beyond to make sure every detail was perfect. Thanks to her, everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The food was delicious, and the kitchen staff thoughtfully accommodated our vegan guests without missing a beat. It’s rare to find a venue that balances quality service, beautiful aesthetics, and affordability so well—but the Vineyard at Escondido GC did just that. I wholeheartedly recommend this venue for anyone planning a bridal shower, wedding, party, or special event. The space is gorgeous, the team is amazing, and your guests will leave raving just like mine did. Thank you to the entire team for making our day so special!

From the moment I arrived, I was thoroughly impressed with the level of service and attention to detail at this golf course. The staff were incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely seemed to care about every guest's experience. Whether it was the pro shop, starter, or clubhouse team, everyone went above and beyond to make the day enjoyable. The course itself is in fantastic shape. Every hole is thoughtfully designed and very playable, offering the perfect balance between challenge and enjoyment for players of all skill levels. Fairways were pristine, greens rolled true, and the layout made for a great pace of play. What really stood out was the driving range and practice area — clean, well-maintained, and actively used without ever feeling overcrowded. The short-game practice holes were a bonus, allowing for a solid warm-up before teeing off and some fun post-round practice. Overall, this course delivers a complete golf experience: top-tier customer service, beautifully maintained facilities, and a team that truly understands and loves the game. I’ll definitely be returning — highly recommended! Any review not grading the course of 5 stars is a huge understatement and should not be taken serious

Played today 11/3/24 and as of this review this course is not ready to be played. I understand it’s a soft opening and admire the work that has been done thus far. 4.5 hour pace of play, tee boxes are in good shape, new sand in the bunkers, fairways are muddy, greens are patchy, small putting/chipping and there is no range. I highly advise anyone reading this review to save your money and go down the street to play the Vineyard at Escondido for the same price. I love my JC Golf Courses but I expected much better conditions especially paying $69 for the round. I recommend coming back in February for the grand opening but as things stand it is not worth your time or money to play here.
Ryan N — Google review
Last year when I reviewed this course I referred to it as a cow pasture. Nice to see the improvements JC Golf has made. Greens were in good condition last week when we played and fairways are coming along nicely. Staff was very friendly and we will definitely come back. Nice Job!!
Wayne B — Google review
Every time I come back, the fairways are getting better. The greens are fully grown in. It has a ways to go, but Dos Osos is very playable.
Gregg T — Google review
Really great, somewhat tight layout. The course is beautiful, greens are well kept and fairways are true. We played mid-august so the fairways and greens had some dead areas, but VERY minimal in comparison to some more expensive local courses. I will definitely be playing here again.
Logan H — Google review
I have been playing Dos Osos at least once a month for a year and can't say enough about the improvement each month. Having said that, golfers need to be aware of "You get what you pay for". This is a great value right now. At some point the prices will need to increase. It is still a work in progress. It is not close to pristine but certainly playable. Yes, you might have to improve your lie now and then. The greens are getting to be very nice but I would guess left intentionally slow as they continue to heal from previous neglect. PLEASE repair at least two ball marks on every green you play. Sadly some golfers refuse to repair their own. Others refuse to rake the bunkers after they tromp around. It looks like Dos Osos could become a real gem. Not sure how long that will take but I will continue to enjoy it as a great practice course and eventually a go to course. At this time there is not a driving range. There is a practice green and two first come first serve nets for warming up. Very friendly staff every time I visit. Don't expect too much but if you play please help by taking care of this up and coming option in Escondido.
Don W — Google review
This course is a hidden gem. Really great layout, and JC has made a lot of improvements. Greens are still a little slow, and some fairways are still being worked on, but JC will continue to improve these areas, I think. They have a great back patio with misters that overlook hole 18. Great course!
Kimberly G — Google review
I’m a relatively new golfer. I’ve been playing for about a year now. I know a little about the history of this place because a buddy of mine played here when it was Eagle Crest, pre-covid. I haven’t played a lot of courses yet. So far I’ve played Oaks North, The Fountains at The Welk, Twin Oaks, Mt Woodson and now Dos Osos. Give this course a year or so and this course will be miles better than the other courses I’ve played. The fairways were in rough shape, but I know they’re still repairing everything. I’d say the fairways were still in very acceptable shape though. The greens looked great, and played slower than I’m used to, but I found putting on slower greens a lot more satisfying because then you put a little more power on your putts. But what really stands out on this course is the layout. The layout is so much fun, and fairly forgiving. The course is located in a gated community, so pay attention to the booking email for the gate code. The staff was also the friendliest of all those other places I’ve played. I took a star away because I do feel like $79 is a little much when the fairways are still being worked on. That being said, I’d still pay $79 to play here vs $100 at Mt Woodson. Regrettably I didn’t take any photos to assist people with this review, but if $79 isn’t too much for you, this place is awesome!

Domaine Artefact is a boutique winery in the Rhône-style producing award winning wines. The estate vineyard is planted with over 12 varietals, and specializes in both mono-varietals and blended wines. The winery offers a relaxing, Provençal vibe with tastings held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from Noon to 5:30 pm.
Best winery in Escondido! We had an incredible time at Domaine Artefact; we sampled some of their upcoming wines (our favorite was the Malvasia Bianca) and had a relaxing evening listening to live music and eating at the supper club.

Great experience for a budget friendly wine tasting. Good ambiance with the live music. The firewood pizza was delicious too.
Amber F — Google review
One of my favorite wineries in the Highland Valley area because it's so beautiful and service is always great. There are a lot of seating areas with shade for our group whenever we come. The tasting is $30 for 4 tasting pours. Their wines run around $40-60 so a little high imo. I'm used to going to Ramona wineries and they are a little cheaper. My friend really likes their new rosé. I tried their syrah blend and it was ok. I didn't like it enough to spend $58 on it tbh.
Sharon B — Google review
This is a pretty nice place to hang out. They had music and charcuterie the weekend we went in addition to the wine flights. Nice shaded seating areas. Big pours. Decent service. A nice breeze up on the hill. Dog and kid friendly. Alas, I did not like the wine at all. This is all big, ripe wine. Sweet whites and jammy, high alcohol reds. Pretty typical for the area I suppose, but not what I’d consider good quality wine.
Daniel G — Google review
Love this family owned winery! Their wine collection is great, the reds are delicious and love how they taste. If your favorite wine is red, I highly recommend this winery! Great customer service, beautiful scenery and nice seating areas! Love that you can look at the beautiful vineyard while sipping delicious wine. Very relaxing atmosphere.

If you love French-style wines, especially Rhône varietals, you’ll definitely want to check this place out. The wines are amazing, and the whole vibe is relaxed and welcoming. The setting is gorgeous, with a big patio full of tables and umbrellas. They often have live music, which makes it a fun spot to hang out. They sell great snacks like charcuterie packs, crackers, olives, almonds, and chocolate in the tasting room and there's usually a food vendor on-site. One of the highlights of visiting is Stevie, one of the wine pourers. She’s super friendly, down to earth, and really knows her stuff when it comes to their wines. She makes the tasting experience fun and approachable, even if you’re not a wine expert. The owners, Lynn and Mark, are also incredibly kind and welcoming. You can tell they love sharing their beautiful property with others. It’s dog-friendly, too! You’ll often see their own dogs wandering around, and they even have horses and pigs. Domaine Artefact is a great place to relax, sip some fantastic wine, and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. I highly recommended it and look forward to going back again and again.

Rancho Guejito Vineyard is a picturesque and tranquil venue located in San Diego, offering a perfect setting for weddings. The vineyard provides a relaxing atmosphere amidst beautiful orchards, vineyards, and meadows. This winery has so much history! It’s kids and pet friendly. Has a large area with picnic tables. Live music when we were there. Restaurant on site. They have their own cattle. They sell and serve their own meat. If you’re a wine club member you can purchase their meats. I had the hot dog and burger. So good! The bar is outside and next door is a small building with one unisex restroom. Otherwise the restroom is outside by the parking lot in the nice bungalows. The parking is lot is on a diet gravel lot but not too far from the entrance. There are many fruit trees like pomelos, lemons, avocados that they only sell to Whole Foods. There are 24 variations of grapes. The best part was the free 30 minute hay ride. You get the history and tour of the property and they serve you free wine on the tour!

Rancho Guejito Vineyard is a top-notch experience! I recently had the privilege of documenting a epic Wedding Day at Rancho Guejito Vineyard! Let me tell you—this place is nestled in a remote valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains, and the staff is truly ride-or-die! Usually, I lean into the best parts of working at a venue, but here, the staff matches the energy of the heart-stopping ceremony site and outdoor reception area. This place rocks on every level—its beauty, the endless epic photo opportunities, and did I mention the staff? The staff rocks! I worked with Nicole and she is amazing! I love it here, and I’m always happy to refer this incredible venue and staff. They truly show up to the fullest! Brandon Colbert Photography

Came here for a Yelp event and had a great time. They had nice seating outside and live music. A lot of free wine to try (with unlimited refills as well) and good food. Tried two of the white wines and they were delicious. Husband had to full glasses of wine and some frose and he felt a good buzz. I'm not even a wine person, but I actually like the taste of these two wines. The beefier is so fresh and authentic. Freshly grilled burgers were top notch. Loaded nachos (same beef from grass-fed cattle from their own farms) were unbelievable! I actually didn't know I would like loaded nachos so much! Hot dogs was lovely as well, Bavarian pretzel with cheese sauce (same cheese sauce that was on the loaded nachos) and veggie burger were all nice. They had a the hayride for the guests around the ranch (Only around part of the ranch because the entire property is over 23 acres) and they had free wine on that as well. They do this hayrides on the weekends as well and all guests at that time get free wine. Owner was on the ride and he told us about the farm and it has some really amazing history. Turns out it's the oldest business in the San Diego county and quite large as well. Learned a good deal about the importance of cows that are pasture raised and grass-fed and given no antibiotics and what not. I really delightful evening overall and a place that we must visit again.

Oaks North Golf Course is a professional-grade golf facility in San Diego, offering 27 holes, a driving range, chipping area, and lessons. Despite being an executive length course, it provides the challenge of a full-length golf course with well-maintained greens and engaging holes. The manicured course features mostly par 4s with manageable yardage but offers an enjoyable and fun playing experience.
If you’re looking for a fun, yet challenging executive course, look no further! The greens and fairways are very well maintained, many bunkers and hazards to maneuver around. This course offers push carts and electric golf carts. They have a driving range and putting and chipping greens. I highly recommend getting the JC membership.

Driving range is very limited. Not many spaces. Putting green is also a bit small. I was still very impressed with this executive course. The conditions were great. Cost is cheap. Carts are slow but they were still fine. The guy I interacted w at the pro shop was the best experience I’ve had at any golf course. And I’ve played 99% of public courses in San Diego. Answered all my questions quickly and even came out of the shop to expedite my cart assignment because I arrived late and had to catch up to my group. The course did feel easy which was nice because I’m really bad at golf. Very open but still looked nice. The par4s were nice. You could use driver on most of them (230-300yd). The vibe here is pretty chill. Many younger players and new players walking.
David P — Google review
Beautiful 27-hole layout. It's in excellent shape. You can leave your driver at home if you wish - a 5 or 3 wood will set you up fine on the par 4s. The staff is very nice. The pro shop and amenities are pretty basic. Fun course!
Mark B — Google review
What a a great golf course for the price! The course was good but what really stood out were the benches. Every holes had a perfectly placed bench BUT these benches had cooling technology and were the perfect height. Would come back for buncha benches and maybe the golf.
Ryan H — Google review
In my opinion, this is the best executive course in San Diego. I love this place. 3 very good 9 hole courses, which makes playing 18 great because you get some variety if you play the course a lot like I do. I like very walkable courses - this is an extremely walkable course. Everyone I've met working there is a great person to deal with. Friendliest starters in San Diego! They keep the course in great condition and the price is more than fair.

Well-maintained grass, lots of sloped greens, close to driveways.
Scarlett — Google review
Great coarse. The greens are well kept and can be speedy. My one gripe is the tee off boxes, after 50 years of use they are mostly egg shaped. Fun time can be had with 3 hour rounds easily within reach. I always walk here (well roll anyway).

Great golf course that's very well kept. Reasonable prices, and very friendly staff. I'll definitely be coming back again...

San Dieguito River Park is a vast nature and wildlife preserve in San Diego County, California. It spans 92,000 acres and features a network of hiking and biking trails that are part of the Coast to Crest Trail project. The park includes trails circling Lake Hodges, such as the North Shore Lake Hodges Trail, Piedras Pintadas Trail showcasing Kumeyaay culture, and Highland Valley Trail with the Ruth Merrill Children's Walk.
I love the variety of trails in the park.

Nice easy stroll w some cool scenery along the way.. Go early and when it's not too warm. A lot of Red Ants on this Trail. Be careful with dogs...
Brant P — Google review
It’s not a park, it’s a picnic table beside a dirt road. From there, a single track trail heads north east along a nursery - rolling hills, a few nice vistas and oak trees standing guard. Need to take a bumpy dirt road about .7 miles in from the main road to find the picnic table. It worked for our off leash jaunt with the dogs but otherwise just mid.

Great place to hike with the dog with a lot of variation in terrain, much of it very scenic.

Nestled in a picturesque highland valley, Speckle Rock Vineyards is renowned for its diverse selection of handcrafted wines, with a special focus on their Falanghina wine. The winery's innovative approach to winemaking includes aging red wines in concrete vessels before transferring them to oak casks, resulting in balanced and distinct flavors.
I can't rave about this place enough. Fantastic location with great views. Music and atmosphere was awesome. Service was awesome from the ladies in the bar area to the greeting to the owner wandering around the place. Wine selection was a good and both of the wines we tried were great. Approximately $35 per bottle. Great venue for larger groups and reservations available. I will definitely be going back when in the area. Dog friendly too. Overall a great all-round experience.

Hidden gem we happened to stumble across.. great prices and if you buy 2 bottles your tasting is free.. we def left with a white and red wine to bring home.. of course the view stole the show and the atmosphere was so peaceful. It was def a vibe.. just laid back beautiful views and amazing wine.

Top Best Winery in Escondido! It is the best! Love their wine, high-quality and tasty reds! Love the atmosphere there, and their location is fantastic. There are so many options of seating areas, and they're all great! The views are epic. The customer service here is excellent! Will always come back here and enjoy their tasty red wine collection and enjoy the amazing view!

Spent a delightful late afternoon with friends at this excellent winery high in the mountains outside Escondido, CA. The wines we sampled were very good, along with fantastic views. Topping it all off was a very friendly and accommodating staff. I expect we will be back.
David H — Google review
Interesting winery to visit. When you drive up it gives the impression of a large scale winery/tasting room, however the seating area feels like a casual backyard. The wines weren't all to our liking, but the Falanghina was crisp and tasty.

Beautiful views from this winery! We had a big birthday party and we were able to reserve tables for our group through their website. Emails communication was prompt and everything was set up for us when we arrived. Our group love their sparkling white wine, the Falanghina white, the Sangiovese, and their Celebrations red blend. Since we had a big group, we bought bottles to share instead of doing their white tastings. Service was spectacular too! We will definitely be back!

The wine at Keys Creek Winery is incredibly smooth and brimming with flavor. The tasting area boasts a serene ambiance, especially on their inviting patio shaded by oaks. Rather than relying on imported wines, this winery focuses on showcasing the best of San Diego County's offerings. I highly recommend paying them a visit if you're looking for delicious wine and a tranquil atmosphere. And if you're lucky, you may even catch sight of the adorable mini sheep roaming around!
It was a lot smaller than I expected. It is family ran but extremely cozy and Michelle the server was very friendly.

Great Wine! This is not your upscale fancy vineyard, winery. Well worth the stop. Parking might get tight, but an awesome time. I belive it was the owner that came out from the back and wanted to know if we had any questions. The woman behind the bar was also great. This is a great 1st time place for beginners. Get your feet wet. It is also a great place for seasoned drinkers. . Not an older well established place, but you def will not be disappointed in stopping. Def all reds for sure. Great time Great wine. Glad we stopped in!!

Awesome people with a great space. The wines were excellent. They happened to have some local musicians playing. It was so relaxing, I wanted to spend all day there. It wasn't crowded at all. So, definitely stop by and say hello to ZXQ. They just opened in June 2018.

Bring your dog! Friday night fun! Oh my wine! What a treat it was to talk with Melanie and learn about all of the wonderful reds. We are huge Cab Franc fans and can't believe this place is almost in our backyard. Not at all planned but we signed up for a membership, love that the pick up dates are off set from most wineries. The Rose Franc is so cool, very different from a normal rose. Loved the On Belay 2017 blend and I don't like blends, say what?!? Highland Valley needed Big Reds (good ones) and this is the place! Grab your friends and go, it is quaint, quiet and relaxing.

With a variety of rooms to choose from, including "Prodigy," "Hush," and "Executives Folly," each adventure is designed to challenge your problem-solving skills while providing a fun atmosphere. The game masters are known for their friendly demeanor, ensuring that everyone feels supported throughout the journey.
Fun and challenging for my first time. Definitely recommend for a casual time and if it's your thing, push for the competitive challenge of the bonus puzzles. My 2 friends and I had three seperate levels of skill with one being very experienced, me being inexperienced in escape rooms but a massive puzzle enthisiast, and one who really doesn't do puzzles much and each of us were able to contribute in verying amounts. I look forward to returning to try the other rooms they have.
Aidan C — Google review
I've done two escape rooms at the Forsaken Archives (Prodigy and Hush) and both of them were an absolute delight! The game masters were sweet and campy in the best way, and both rooms had puzzles that were very fun to solve and figure out. Perfect for smaller escape room groups of 2-3. Will definitely be returning for their final room when I get the chance!

Went with my son his friend and my father and we had an amazing time. We tried the Executive room which had an hp lovecraft vibe and it was well made with a lot of interesting puzzles. There was a lot of super cool lore regarding the man who's office it was, I won't spoil anything though. The kids absolutely loved it to pieces. Audrey helped us and she was very kind, helpful and a delight to talk to. She made the experience very immersive she's really good at her job. We will be coming back again FOR SURE!!! 😊

We chose this escape room for a work team outing, and it was a great experience. The puzzles were challenging but very solvable, making it a perfect activity for a group of beginners. Our game master was excellent and offered helpful hints exactly when we needed them. We all had a lot of fun and would highly recommend it.

This was so fun! My group and I, totaling 3 people, did the Executives Folly room. Anastasia, our game master, was so kind and watched carefully so she could help us when we were struggling. The whole experience was so well crafted and executed! Me and my group managed to escape with 3 minutes to spare! We are totally coming back to do the other rooms!

The rooms are great and some add an “achievement” aspect that other rooms don't do and have scoring systems. The Africa Tram Safari is a popular tourist attraction at the Safari Park that allows visitors to ride in tram cars around the free-range enclosure while the tour guide points out different species. The ride lasts approximately 20-30 minutes and is well worth it for those looking to get up close and personal with some of Africa's most majestic animals.
This is the most distinct part of the park. This massive campus simulating the African plains includes a large herd of giraffe, rhinos, zebras, gazelle, and other herbivores. The tram line is usually long. We waited for about 80 minutes. The ride itself includes commentary by the driver and the total trip takes about 15 minutes. You can't come to this park and not take the tram. Totally worth it.
Stig's I — Google review
This thing is awesome. You get to see all the animals up close and the giraffes were eating when we came by so they were like ten feet away. Even better- it’s part of your ticket! $20 for priority but I didn’t have to wait too long.
Billy T — Google review
There is a very long line, and if you have young children, they become cranky.. We wanted to arrive early. However, California traffic is unpredictable, so it was late morning when we arrived. This tour is on the far side of the park. We went directly to this tour. The line is very long, and we waited at least 1 1/2 hours to get on the tram. The animals, by this time, are hot and hiding, and the animals that are walking about you can barely see them in the distance. They have acres of land for them. That is wonderful. However, they look very far away. Its wonderful they have a lot of room to roam. My husband and I decided we won't be back. It was not worth our time, and it is pricey. We're glad we contributed to the financial support of these majestic animals and the work they do to protect wildlife in Africa.
Marlene W — Google review
Lovely animal park, I just set my expectations too high. A lot of bird species and plants. Not a lot of animals either. A lot of deer/antelope species. I did see a few giraffe and a rhino, and 2 sleeping lioness which was cool. Don't get your hopes up like I did. I wanted to give my kids and grandson a trip they wouldn't forget, but very disappointing. Once in your lifetime is enough, especially for how much tickets were and then the prices for any other features or truck tours. Not worth the wait for the tram ride, it's a close version to Disneyland's Jungle Cruise tours.
Mandy T — Google review
THIS CLOSES AT 4PM SO COME EARLY. The line is a long wait, but it is a pretty ride, and THIS IS THE ONLY WAY TO SEE GIRAFFES, GAZELLES, CAMELS, ZEBRAS, AND OTHER ANIMALS. If you don't take this tram, you miss all those animals. Also, there are NO bathrooms once you get on the tram, and none in the line. Go to the bathroom before you get in line. Sit on the DRIVER side (left side) of the tram for the best views.
Alex — Google review
It's was great , I wasn't able to see much of the animals due to the winds .
Adner D — Google review

Ryan Park is a 67-acre park with a soccer field, playground, baseball fields, and concession stand. It's off-leash dog-free and has rare oak trees.
Always nice. They do youth soccer leagues here, so sometimes the parking lots can get busy. When the soccer is happening, they usually have a concession stand going. They do have restrooms at the main parking lot, and during soccer season (which mey be all year now) they also have some port-a-pottys available.

This is a great park for soccer. There is plenty of space for a number of games to go on at once and there is a lot of parking, not all of it paved, but all accessible. Thankfully, the bathrooms are clean every time I have gone, and are right in the center of the park. Side note: This park is right in the back of Valley High School, so when the gates on that end are open parking at VHS is useful.

Actually I was there for a soccer tournament. Disabled parking area was as far away from the field as it could be. 2nd day was the same but in the other direction.
