Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Lourdes Mexican Food is a local chain known for its specialty chicken soup and a variety of Mexican dishes like tacos and burritos. While it has been a long-time favorite among locals, there have been recent concerns about food quality and pricing. Despite this, some customers still appreciate the flavorful soup and generous portions. The eatery also offers caldo de pollo in different serving sizes with sides like rice, onions, cilantro, and avocado.
The best Mexican chicken soup, you can pick up for your sick loved ones or on a cold day, you want Mexican chicken soup, love the avocadoes in the soup & the spanish rice. Very similar to homemade, although mine is a spicy version. Other foods I've had there, like a tamale were disappointing but I'll go there for soup!

Cashiers are stressed out they want you to order super quick or if you don't hurry up they turn around and they start something else while you are standing there!. And I like to consume at places that provide restrooms because you never know when you need a resroom I like to sit down and eat. But guess what? they literally denied you from using the restroom by posting a sign on the restroom door "CLOSED FOR CLEANING" WOW THE RESTROOMS MIGHT BE THAT DIRTY THAT TAKES HOURS. DAYS TO CLEAN THEM. I prefer the Lourdes inside the shell gas station on El Norte parkway. The staff there are super welcoming and they make the BEST CHICKEN SOUP!! YOU CAN NEVER GET IT WRONG! I came to the Escondido location because I happened to be in the area. The chicken soup was missing the cilantro and onion got few small pieces of avocado.

$30 for 6 chicken rolled tacos……. I was charged extra for lettuce, sour cream and pico. Where’s all the extras you charged me for. And Carmen needs to fix her attitude.
Abigail P — Google review
It's true, they do have the best chicken soup in town! The food is absolutely delicious! I was in town for a week and ate at Lourdes three separate times. They are deserving of high praise, and I recommend eating at this restaurant. 😊
Rob C — Google review
Listen... I'm not gonna tell you to go here because the "vibe is fire." I AM gonna tell you go here because their food is incredible. We ordered the Pollo de Caldo, 2 Carne asada tacos, 5 rolled tacos, and the #4 combo plate (chile rellano & beef enchilada). Everything was delicious. Everything. We took it to go, so maybe their vide is fire and I just didnt stick around long enough to find out. But, nobody else stuck around either. The chile rellano & enchilada combo (that was my meal) was fantastic. The sauce was perfect. I've made plenty of damn fine salsa roja in my day, and Lourde's is so much better. The depth of flavor just can't be touched. I can't speak to the rest of my family's meals (they're heathens and don't take the time to appreciate excellent food), but I can tell you that there was nothing left. My wife tore through her Pollo de Caldo. My son killed the carne asada tacos and my daughter, whom we lovingly refer to as "Two Bites Done," finished her rolled tacos and came back looking for more Anecdotally, that's high praise.
Matt K — Google review
Honestly, I feel this place is overrated. Maybe at some point it was a phenomenal place to get good soup and tacos but it isn't anymore. For $5 a taco you're better off going somewhere else. I found every bite flavorless and I'm on a sodium reduced diet. If I can add flavor without sodium, this place should be able to do better.
S G — Google review
Went for the soup... loaded with chicken, rice, onion, and cilantro... and again beautifully cooked broth. The music is a bit loud, but the ladies working there were singing along to the music and seemed pretty happy there which makes for a very positive vibe.
Ginny S — Google review
I only had a beef taco it was just okay. For $7.28 I think I should have gotten a bigger portion of meat. I would have needed at least three tacos that fill me up about $22 for three tacos, I'll just go to a restaurant for a decent meal.

If you're on the hunt for a delightful dining experience, look no further than Olive Garden Italian Restaurant. This vibrant and family-friendly chain is renowned for its classic Italian dishes, including an array of pastas and fresh salads. Upon entering, you’re welcomed by friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The salad bar is a feast for the eyes with its colorful selection of crisp vegetables that are sure to tantalize your taste buds.
Olive Garden in Escondido offers a satisfying dining experience. The food is consistently good, and the service is generally friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the never-ending salad bar and soup, though we found ourselves having to ask the servers for soup refills more often than we'd like. My wife had the rotini pasta with shrimp, and she loved it. Overall, it's a solid choice for a casual Italian meal.
Francois G — Google review
"What a waste of calories", the wife says. Only two stars because the food presented in the commercials is waaayyy better looking than how the actual food tastes. Some interesting observations: There was no Cacio y Pepe on the menu. Thats OK. But, they did have a "Toasted Ravioli", straight outta St Louis. Interesting target demographic. And, despite what the commercials say, I never really felt . . . "like family". "I don't remember the salad tasting like this, it was much better before", I said to the wife. The pepperoncini in the salad was fresh, but probably the worst tasting pepperoncini I have tasted. Perhaps use a different corporate brand going forward. I think the breadsticks were about the same, except we did experience an overwhelming food saltiness that brings all of the flavors together. We got about two fork fulls into our main entrées after filling up on salad and breadsticks. The portions were very adequate, however the food just was not worth attemtpting to break through the wall for another bite. "Save it, maybe it'll be better as leftovers , , , possibly with an egg, or saving it for the dog", I said. The Gorgonzola Steak Fettuccini was very "gorgonzola-ie". Luckily, I asked for the parmesan cheese on the side. After dining, the wife and I talked about doing OG service by robot. Not that the service was bad . . . just not necessary. OG could cut costs and still deliver the same quality (to be defined) of food to the table after ordering from the payment/table-game tablet. A paradigm change. I likened this visit to similar popular corporate restaurant visits of yesteryear. Places that have picked up and moved away or other brand restaurants that are soon to close. The OG excitement has been lost from this customer. Generally and normally, large corporate restaurants would get 3 stars from me, because it is safe to eat. Not too sure on this one. The OG signature mint chocolates were still given at the end of the meal with the check, but only one per guest nowadays. Next time we see a commercial, we'll stay home and take out a steak. Oh, and BTW; the left-overs seemed much better the next day just without the hype of “feeling like family”. Dicks

We randomly picked this place and decided to give it a try — and we’re so glad we did! We spoke directly with the manager about our vegetarian preferences, and the team went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. A special shoutout to Matthew, who truly understood our taste and took the time to explain our requirements to the chefs. The food was amazing, the service was thoughtful, and the whole experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!

Wanted a simple salad and soup recently and remembered that Olive Garden offered this. It’s been awhile ( 3 plus years) since going to this chain and we had previously enjoyed this option. The soup was a fail. We had 3 of the 4 selections. The gnocchi soup had the Consistency of paste and no flavor. The minestrone and pasta fagioli were not great. On positive.. staff was good, place was quite clean.

Food comes with a huge plate!!Amazing! My husband and I had a dinner date tonight. It's been a long time since we came to Olive Garden. I tried the new shrimp and steak fettuccine, it was so good! and my husband had the classic lasagna. And, I had the Italian Rum cocktail, perfect! Well, it's my first time to have this drink. Highly recommended to try. And of course, my husband had the Apple sour Sangria. Jose, our server was very attentive and with good attitude. Good job Olive Garden for the good food and service.😋👍

Gabriela, our server last night, was amazing! She was very sweet and made my mother’s birthday an overall, great experience. She never stopped checking on us and made sure everything was perfect. Will definitely ask if she’s working whenever we go!

Excellent customer service from Chloe and her teammate on Sunday for lunch. We had a party of 20 and they were friendly, professional and quick to accommodate. The food was good and plentiful. The servers made it an exceptional experience. Thank you!

Wow! Who ever the staff was Friday night 05/19/23 was EXCELLENT! I brought my hubby for his birthday, I would HIGHLY recommend going on their website and reserving table there . I did for party of 2. Waited about 25 minutes around 7:30 not bad. Our server Claire (I believe) was on top of it! Super friendly and recommend the appetizer (so good) & I don’t drink alcohol so she recommend a yummy limeade drink she mixed with sprite (sooooo good) This Escondido location is good! Packed and food was delicious thanks again!

My husband and I have been going to this restaurant for lunch for several years. They have a good selection of lunch specials. We went tonight for dinner and we were a party of 5. The dishes were delicious and came fast. Our server was attentive.

We had a delicious lunch here. 80s music in the background. You can look into the kitchen. Food and drinks were served swiftly. Friendly staff, plenty of chicken in our dishes. We needed to go bags because our portions were too large ☺️ More to enjoy later! We had pandang curry with chicken (in a bowl) and pad Thai with chicken

Server ( little Asian guy ) served my friend her fried rice to plate right on her hands . The food way way too salty I tried and returned a dish because the stake was dried and chewy and they would not accommodate us , understood but a manager could have came to talk to us and apologized, instead they made us feel as we were in the wrong . Worse service I’ve had in the last decade . I don’t know how they can call that beef .

Me and my sister went here. My first time the food is 💣 bomb! I definitely will be coming back. I had the Garlic wings, Thai Chow with Broccoli n Shrimp, Broccoli in garlic sauce. Thai rice with no egg. Spring Rolls. Everything was good! This is my new spot to go too!

We asked the waiter to suggest their best appetizers . The meat was tender while packed with so much flavor ! This has awesome service ấnd food .

Consistent and amazing vegan options. All restaurant prices have gone off the charts in the last few years but I still feel like I get value for money here. Spice levels run high but that's how I like it. I love cashew tofu and their tofu satay skewers...can't go wrong when you're in town

My first time visiting this restaurant and let me tell you that the food was AMAZING! Well seasoned and flavorful. Our waiter Tien was the best! Very attentive and going out of his way to make our visit memorable and comfortable by providing extra fans along with the AC to our comfort level. Also with Max and Randall assisting to make sure all went well. Super happy and impressed with the service and quality of food, that I’ll definitely be returning. I highly recommend this place!

This place is one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve been to in San Diego county. I’ve been here twice in the last few months and it was amazing both times! We had their Thai iced tea, pad Thai and spring rolls. They also serve some of the best mango sticky rice seasonally, which is a must for dessert!

This place offers Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai cuisine, but we only tried the Vietnamese dishes. The pho was delicious and full of rich flavors, I’d rate it 5/5. The house combo rice dish, fried wontons, and fried egg noodles were good but nothing exceptional. The service was nice during my visit.

Saw this was a really solidly review restaurant so we went to check it out. We started off ordering the BBQ Pork Banh Mi. The pork meat was super flavorful. Tons of Pickled Daikon and Carrots, amazing blend with the meat. We also ordered the Combo Beef Pho which has rice noodle, pho soup and 5 types of meat: rare, flank, fatty brisket, tendon, tripe. Finally I ordered the Com Bi Cha Thit which has BBQ teriyaki combo shredded pork rind, steamed egg meat loaf, pork served with steamed rice, fresh salad & fish sauce. Amazing food, everything we ordered was great and would definitely recommend going here again.

Arguably the best Phở, in the North County! Great family owned restaurant, with great people and awesome food! You will often find the owners running the register, and the kitchen. They treat the regulars like family, and treat customers with kindness and smiles! You'll find the menu diverse, and pricing competitive. Dining in you have spacious accommodations. Parking can be a little hard, because they're always busy. Take out is an option.

Everyone working there was nice we just waited a bit for more water/check. Not the end of the world. The food was great. Bahn mi was so good I saved half for lunch today. My boyfriend finished his fried rice and the crab rangoon were crunchy and tasty. Good stuff! Will be back

Sandwich shop
Sunny Side Kitchen is a charming mom-and-pop counter serve cafe located in Escondido. The cafe specializes in morning and lunchtime paninis, salads, and housemade baked goods. The bright yellow walls and decor create a cheerful atmosphere, making it the perfect spot for a quick bite during your lunch break or for a midday pick-me-up. They also offer breakfast paninis all day, catering to those who prefer a late brunch.
Everything about this place is amazing. I came for the sandwiches, but every request I had was not only fulfilled, but made me feel great. They have decaf, and Paige waited until I had brought my own cup in, opened the door for me when I was carrying a bunch of stuff, and showed me the bathroom. They even asked me how many sugars I wanted in my second cup of coffee because they noticed me putting sugars in the first. Bob was helpful and kind with the menu, and let me charge my battery at their outlets as well. The Italian soda I got to go was delicious as well (green apple and vanilla, with cream)
Savannah T — Google review
This is a cute mom and pop type of sandwich place here in Escondido! Was passing by so I thought I would give it a shot. The food was tasty and the staff were very kind. I do like these type of businesses. Good quality ingredients you can tell. The only setback I would really think of here is the cost of sandwiches and any type of additions to it. The sandwich I got was a breakfast panini, I liked it a lot. The cost of the sandwich is $25 for a moderately sized sandwich. I was a little surprised to see $6 to add avocado to a sandwich. I was a little surprised to only see a sparing amount of chicken in the sandwich considering the price. This was probably the most I have ever personally spent on a sandwich, after taxes and a slight tip you are looking at about $30 for a sandwich. I do recommend the place if you are looking for a new spot to try out with a good reputation and quality ingredients. I won’t be able to come very frequently for a costly sandwich but I will definitely come back. Check them out! The staff recommended me to try a few different sauces so I told him to give me whatever he liked and he gave me 4 different options, that was really nice of him. I liked the pesto and honey mustard options.
Derick T — Google review
Really enjoyed their chicken pesto sandwich, as well as their watermelon lemonade drink. I appreciate that they have half orders if you’re not as hungry! Not usually a sandwich person, but I really enjoyed this meal! 10/10! Would recommend.
Daene S — Google review
Went in on Monday around 10 am. The place is small but there is indoor and outdoor seating. The staff was very friendly and inviting. Got the 808 panini and a dozen chocolate chip cookies. The Sandwich was very good. The bread was soft yet perfectly toasted. The cheeses/spam and avocado had the perfect balance of salt and fat. The cookies are so soft, and I could easily have eaten all 12! Definitely a great hidden gem in Escondido
Samantha K — Google review
Oooh, I loved this place. It's cute, intimate, great service, and I loved my food and coffee. Did I mention bingo? Just go, the staff is friendly the grilled cheese was yummy. They also offer gluten-free choices.

Seriously, the customer service here is awesome! Everyone's great, but Maria and Luis are the best. They're always so positive, and they totally make my day. You have to try Maria's special sandwich, it's to die for.

This is by far my favorite Escondido breakfast spot! The breakfast sandwiches are to die for, and I wake up craving one most mornings. We even make the trip from North Park. The employees are so kind and generous and very accommodating to dogs! Definitely worth making this a regular stop in your breakfast routine! Secret: they have a lovely back patio.

Breakfast restaurant
Panera Bread is a popular bakery and cafe chain that offers a variety of sandwiches, salads, and more. It is well-known for its quality bread and complimentary WiFi. However, one customer recently had a disappointing experience at the Escondido location. They ordered the Chipotle Chicken Avocado sandwich but found it lacking in both chicken and avocado, making it feel like they were eating mainly bread with cheese and sauce.
I don’t believe the food is as good as it used to be but still decent. This location is ok but not the cleanest. I didn’t enjoy eating there. The staff is friendly and responsive.
Alina P — Google review
Panera no longer offers good value for what you pay. I'll admit that the meal I got was filling but the flavor was just mediocre and my chicken ranch sandwich was mostly bread. You'll have to pay $3.49 for a cookie if you want a "cheap" sweet treat, otherwise you can buy other pastries for upwards of $5. Fortunately the sodas are refillable, which I believe is the only reason I was able to satiate my hunger. I'd recommend visiting In-n-Out across the street where you can still get a meal for a somewhat reasonable price.
Christian L — Google review
First time ever walking into a Panera. I was tempted by the new sandwiches shown on t.v. the toasted baguettes. I got one of each kind, the Pizza Mozzarella Melt, Smokey Buffalo Chicken melt, and the Green Goddess Caprese melt. I specifically asked for no arugula and guess what, arugula... all 3 sandwiches that are the same price were all different sizes, not 1 sandwich was labeled or marked on the sticker. How is this OK? Even my receipt said no arugula. The young man at the cashier was friendly, and smiled, and went over my order, even reiterated the "no arugula " so for him, the 2nd star was earned. I regret the 10% tip.. I've been in this industry for decades.... READ THE TICKET KIDS.... READ... THE... TICKET.... the sandwiches weren't that bad... but I can take a hop skip away to rocking Jenny subs for these prices, and have better sandwiches. I guess when it says on the receipt, "accuracy matters" it didnt today. I didnt think i had to open all 3 sandwiches to check the accuracy. 🌟🌟
Donny B — Google review
I've been coming here because of the free unlimited drinks with a 3 month trial. Every time I'm here I hear someone complaining about the portion sizes of their food. Everything on the menu is mediocre and overpriced. Bagels are always sold out, even by 10 AM. Even the drinks are not good, how they mess up tea and coffee is beyond me. The center this Panera location is in is always chaotic at all times of day. Parking is limited, especially near the Panera. When ordering just a drink, they will take 10+ minutes to put the cup out and it's never in the rapid pickup area like it says it will be. It also always says it's ready but it's not. Staff likes to avoid customers at this location and it's hard to get someone's attention from behind the counter. The biggest problem is that they have 3 different pickup areas. Behind the register, on the rapid pickup shelves, and the counter by the drink machine. It's very inconsistent where your order might be placed. Overall avoid this terrible location and Panera in general.
Joel C — Google review
Stopped by for quick lunch over the weekend. Great location and healthy food options. Ordering food through kiosk did take few minutes longer than expected as machine failed to communicate with the server couple times.
Rafi M — Google review
I ordered a Whole (Full size) Caesar Salad, when the called my name to pick it up it looked a bit skimpy, like maybe they forgot to add enough lettuce. I mentioned to the staff that I had ordered the “Whole” Caesar Salad and it looked maybe like a half size, didn’t even fill out the bowl. The guy said it was correct, as he “weighed” it, followed by a facial expression that was like “that’s it, sorry dude”. I brought the skimpy Caesar to my table, in disbelief I just paid $10 for this. I went back to the staff and asked someone different for an additional bowl, a half sized bowl. I then transferred the Whole Caesar Salad to the Half sized bowl. It fit perfectly, looked correct. The Half size is priced around $5-6. The Salad tasted good. But the value just doesn’t seem to be there, like if that’s really all the salad you get for the Full/Whole Caesar, they really should just change their bowls so the presentation is better. Having a giant bowl that looks empty was really frustrating. Having the staff tell me it was correct because they weighed it was frustrating. Not a single staff or manager came by to ask how my food was. It was a less than poor experience, I’m always reminiscent of the Panera of days gone by and continually disappointed of the serving portions, level of customer service, value and taste. I ended up going there because I had a “deal” to join their “unlimited sip club” for $3.99/month for 3 months. So I decided to stay for lunch and do a little work (video call). The environment ended up being so loud between their machines and staff yelling, laughing and goofing off I’ll never end up doing that again. Horrible environment to get any work done. I’m even thinking the sip club is worth canceling because their “Charged” lemonades had some funky taste. Panera, don’t get me wrong, I want to love you again. But until then we will only exchange some awkward stares.
Michael T — Google review
This place is so overpriced. The bread is good but they definitely skimp on the sandwiches. This is one half of a $16 sandwich. There's hardly anything inside that massive roll.
TJ — Google review

I specifically chose to visit Chan Dara Thai Cuisine because it resembled a Thai diner, and I was not disappointed. While the restaurant doesn't invest much in its ambiance, they prioritize their food quality and affordability. Inside the cozy interior, they offer an array of soups, noodle dishes, fried rice options, and a generous selection for vegetarians.
Chan Dara Thai Cuisine offers amazing Thai food! This is my second time visiting because the food was so delicious the first time. I ordered the lunch special, which comes with a choice of soup or salad, pineapple fried rice, and two spring rolls. You can also choose your preferred protein. The portion size is perfect for one person, and the quality is excellent. The price is very reasonable at just $14. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back again!

Delicious and yummy food. Cheap and best price with huge quantities.. will visit again soon. The waiter was awesome. She is making us to feel home there.

One of my favorite places for Thai food . Very happy many times return customer. I am also fairly picky with food so this review being 5 stars from me means the quality of the food has been constantly above average and mostly excellent. Thank You.
Matt R — Google review
Decided to try this place for take out to feed family of 7. First observation was the portion sizing..the containers were definitely less full compared to other local Thai spots. Ordered Sweet & Sour Chicken/Garlic Pepper Chicken/Green Beans Chicken and few other chicken teams (on a Tuesday) Every chicken dish felt like chicken jerky and super hard. Sweet and sour chicken was absolutely the worst of the 4 chicken dishes. Chicken was over boiled/over cooked. And largely just missing flavor. Not sure if this makes sense but it felt more like Chinese takeout, less like Thai. Missing the fresh parsley flavors that I am used to. Waste of near $100 after tip. Disappointed 🙃

My family has been going here for years and my parents love this restaurant. We’ve tried everything from the curries to the Pad Thai to the the different soups. For our last visit we had a beef dish with white rice. Then we also got Tom Kha Gai Soup with one of the curries. Always a nice restaurant to eat at and the food is always good.
Josh B — Google review
Very sweet waitress’s and delicious food! And we were able to place a reservation for 10 people , just in case it was packed, which it wasn’t, it was very empty, which was very sad, because the food quality was actually great! Hope to visit once more in the future if I’m ever in town again!
Val — Google review
We tried the panang curry, Thai fried rice, veggie tempura and pad Thai noodles. Each dish was excellent! I felt their Curry dish could have been a bigger portion. Other places will give you slightly more.
Matt F — Google review
I specifically came to this restaurant because it looked like a diner for Thai food and that was exactly what I got and I am delighted. Although It's obvious they're not putting excessive money into ambience. I'm really okay with them focusing it directly into the food and keeping the prices low. Which it was. Also there was lots of parking out in front. I got Tom Kha, which was made in a very authentic style with little to no coconut milk and a lot of lemongrass and kafir lime leaves. My kids split the pad Thai which was perfectly classic and they ate it very well. My husband got Mussaman Curry which had an interesting almost mushroom under flavor but had lots of hearty potatoes and carrots and he inhaled it. I had the Pad See Ew which they gave just the right amount of kick for on my request. Everything was clean and the large individual booths helped muffle sound and made it feel private. The bathroom was around the corner and almost shockingly big and well kept. No changing table for children. The staff was pretty swamped with online orders but I hear that's pretty common nowadays. One woman in front was holding down the entire restaurant and more power to her. I would totally come back again for the good price and solid food. Not the place to take a date to impress. But definitely a place to hit your Thai food craving without breaking the bank.

H Brothers is a restaurant that offers traditional cheeseburgers, fries, and sandwiches alongside some unique surprises on their menu. Some of the standout dishes include jambalaya with cheesy grits, poutine, hush puppies, and boozy kombucha. The food is exceptional and the service is outstanding. Customers have praised the owner's kindness and helpfulness during their visit. The meals are served promptly and are incredibly delicious.
I love the food and service. Great home made chips and ask for the fries well done. Had the chicken sandwich with bacon. Yum. Had the roast beast sandwich with parm grilled sourdough. Dang good. Loved the beer selection too.

Friendly and attentive servers! Really appreciated the option to order a side of the poutine fries they were so good! I would highly recommend the brisket sandwich. If you want a sandwich this place is a must try! They’ve got an option for everybody.
Tania R — Google review
Unfortunately they use the same fryers for fish and fries, so the fries taste like fish. But the owner said he's trying to get another one so that will be great! I ordered the shrimp po boy, in my opinion too much sauce was added and the lettuce they used wasn't crispy, almost old tasting even. Really want to like it here so I'll be back. Great service.
Chelsea P — Google review
Stopped at H Brother's while at Crusin' Grand. This place is an absolute gem! The food is nothing short of exceptional. Their burgers are packed with flavor, and the fries are cooked to perfection. But it doesn't stop there. The brisket sandwich was incredibly tender and juicy, a true standout. To top it off, everyone was extremely friendly and the place was clean. You order at the front and pay at the front, have a seat and they bring the food to you. Highly recommend giving this place a try! Would definitely go back!

Solid 4 stars across the board. Food was good-8 of 10(chicken fried steak and monte cristo sandwhich), service was good-9 of 10, place was clean-8 of 10, atmosphere was chill-8 of 10. Overall 8 of 10. Will return to eat here again!

There are a lot of renovations going on to revamp the area. The restaurant was busy when we were there and service was good. The food was hit or miss. Half of us liked what we ordered and the other half didn't.

So amazingly delicious. The ingredients in the Cuban all work so well together and the portion is enough for two hungry grown men to split. I’m assuming it’s that way for the whole menu. It’s a destination restaurant and worth the trip. Come out even if you don’t live in town!

This charming spot specializes in an array of traditional Mexican dishes, including tacos, tortas, burritos, and even seafood options paired with refreshing cocktails.
The food is great and portions are large, even kids meals. Prices are decent too. Lot of selection of food, a lot of seafood options. Staff is friendly but they don't really wait on you at the table, you have to call them for things. No refills on drinks. Parking is plenty. Restrooms onsite.

This place is absolutely amazing! I stoped in for a quick bite at lunch and ordered a breakfast burrito and it was absolutely amazing! It was so big I was full for the rest of the day and didn’t even eat dinner that night. The bacon tasted amazing the eggs were fresh and potato’s were soft. I can’t stand when places use French fries in there breakfast burritos and this place does not. As I was sitting there and enjoying the clean nice and authentic ambience I noticed how big all of the portions were on everyone else’s plates. I noticed a lot of people were ordering the different types of soups they had and the owner said that they make quiet a few different kinds. The owner came out and greeted me, asked how everything was and make sure to shake my hand before I left. I felt special, but I noticed he was doing that to everybody can’t wait to come back and try the rest of the food!

I got a torta El pastor everybody seem to like their soup the kids love their fries somebody got a burrito thought it was very tasty my experience on the other hand was not so good are the meat in the pastor was extremely salty the sandwich was a little dry and soggy it was okay but I think they could have done a lot better we ordered a michelada which was really good and I don't really have more to say it was my first time if it was my choice I would not go back thank you for taking the time to read my review 😎

I went earlier today, and my take: don’t go in there if you’re not a man. I went with my daughter and two little nieces, and we weren’t even handed spoons, forks, syrup for the pancakes and they threw the lime on the table when I asked for it. Whilst the other men there were being asked how they were enjoying their food, gently handed everything and served nicely. Machisto at its finest.
Maria M — Google review
The reasoning for the low star review was once we received our check a receipt was not give to us but the waiter came over with a clover card reader and told us the total. My friend paid, but the prices weren’t adding up to the total. My friend had the clover app with our receipt on the app. we got a menu and all the prices of the food and drinks were increased on our bill. I guess if we would have paid in cash it would have been cheaper or because we were looking at an old menu was the excuse of the waitress. There was tiny sign that said prices might change in the front where you would pay for take out order. That should have been mentioned when we were paying. I don’t think it’s right that they don’t print a receipt so you can look at what you ordered. They did refund us 5 dollars and some change. Transparency would have been nice. The up charge was not worth the price of the food. This does not reflect the waitress in any way but I am sure it was what the owner trained these waitresses to hide the fact that there was price increases. It seems slimy for company to sneak in charges from in unsuspecting customers. Food Review- I ordered ceviche which had a good flavor but chewy. My friend order the beef chimichanga. The flavor was good and beans were amazing. My mom and my sister order shrimp fajita. This dish was not served on a steaming plate and was drenched in sauce. They probably could have over looked that if the flavor was good but it was not good.
Miranda H — Google review
Food was so delicious. So much food for such a reasonable price service was excellent they were very accommodating for a large group. Very cute atmosphere air conditioned and cool.
Samantha M — Google review
Their Carne Asada and Al Pastor meats are very strongly seasoned with traditional spices, featuring great flavor and just enough nice crispy bits. Their tacos are the large size with ample meat, of which the percentage of gristle is acceptably low. The only salsas are two bottled reds, and one very smoky tasting medium hot red served with the free chips. It's a table service place with nice decor and the service is very good, but when done you have to go to the counter to pay. If Google allowed decimals, I'd give it a 4.3.

Wow! What a good (Cali) burrito. And the green salsa is fire! I'd eat this all the time if it didn't cost so much. "Inflation" is evil.
Joshua W — Google review
Good service, nice ladies. Sadly though, the Cali burrito was one of the worst burritos I ever had. It was literally inedible, as I tossed a third of it away. I drove our, not cheap, order back to the hotel just across the street (4 minutes, plus 2 more to my room), and it was ice cold. I'm guessing because there was so much sour cream. I've had many Cali burritos and never had that on it. And I now know why. The thin fries, which should be warm and crispy, were cold, soggy, and oddly gritty. Adding insult to injury, there was very little carne asada. So, so disappointed... Meanwhile, the rice was fair, but the refried beans were tasteless. Bumping the stars from 1 to 2 because my wife reported her grilled chicken tacos were "pretty good." Lastly, the overpriced chips, cheese, and guacamole, which I begrudgingly bought because I couldn't get just a side of chips, were actually warm, plentiful, and tasty.
B J — Google review
Ok, it's in a gas station but you have to try it. They're chicken soup is a miracle cure when sick. Warm tortilla served with it, truly tastes like something grandma would make for you. Can't sing it's praises enough.

I used to have some serious questions about this gas station chicken soup I'd been hearing about... without a doubt, it's the absolute best, and if your sick, get 2 👍 Super friendly staff, you won't be disappointed.
Steven H — Google review
The lady in the front is so rude just because I asked a couple questions on what a California burrito came with as most places are different. Really bad service if you asked me. The one other location in escondido is a bit more friendly
Jorge S — Google review
After having my carne asada burrito (see picture) here it seems the chicken soup and chicken flautas are the best things here. The chicken soup is always consistent here and delicious. You can go wrong with the rolled tacos or chicken flautas. As for the carne asada burrito I'd give it a hard pass. There is more tortilla than carne asada meat. As for dine-in there are no more tables here. It's basically a take-out spot. Definitely call in your order as it gets heavily busy here.

This restaurant clearly reminds me of the classic diners when I was younger. Not in a hidden part of town, but right in the open - far too easy to overlook. Food is great, hot, and we'll seasoned. Sandwich and fries are well-made. Cake and pie were the hidden gems. Considering ordering pie for our next holiday get-together.

We stopped in while returning home after a road trip. What a great find. We were promptly, seated shortly after that and our drink order was taken. Their menu is excellent? Plenty of options but not so many that you get lost in deciding. I had the tuna melt with onion rings. My sister had the culb sandwich. Both were delicious choices. There was ample tuna in my melt and it was seasoned nicely with not too much mayonnaise. The club sandwich was stacked with a generous portion of meat.

Service was great, we were seated and served promptly. I had a Belgian waffle with banana, strawberries and whipped cream, and it was delicious! My partner had a Chef Combo (2 eggs, 4 bacon, 3 pancakes). It was good, the bacon tasted a little weird. But overall all good. I also had raspberry lemonade - it was good although very sweet. We spend a little over $50 so a little on the pricey side, I think. But the food and service was good. Would recommend 👍🏼

Then she appeared and stated you ready for the bill not would you like any dessert etc then bright the bill stood over her watching her credit card entry no privacy. I first are at this place when they opened 40 yrs ago. Myself and my family have eaten there countless times over decades. I went there today and I'm here to tell you the food and service was miserable. Took 20 minutes to get a drink, I order spicy dish that had no spice or flavor dry overcooked chicken and overall just bland food that I took home. I wish I had a dog to feed it to. They were great for years but now I would go to fast food Chinese for a better meal than I had today. And after decades of eating there their attitude was oh well.

The food was good, I got the orange chicken combo dinner plate. Service was great. I enjoyed. One thing I can say for constructive criticism. The egg rolls on my wifes plate, and my plate weren't good at all. Maybe they just sat for a while and weren't fresh. Lets get that kind of practice corrected in my opinion.

Great service, great food, great overall experience. From the moment I walked in the door I was given an exceptional level of service. All staff members were very friendly. My table was attended to perfectly, drinks were refilled consistently, and all requests were tended to in a timely manner. The food just bolstered this experience even further. Started with the Cream Cheese Wontons and BBQ Pork, both of which had amazing flavor. The wontons were crunchy with a perfect balance of sweet and savory. The BBQ Pork was one of the best Char Siu style pork dishes I've had. I would keep coming back just to enjoy this dish again and again. My entree was the Mandarin pork lunch special which provided a plentiful amount of food and left me feeling full and satisfied. The soup to start was amazing by itself. That could definitely be worth a return trip by itself. The Mandarin pork and vegetables with abundant sides of fried rice, lo mein noodles, fried wontons and an egg roll presented a variety of great flavors, amazing textures, and one of the best Chinese food experiences I've ever had. Honestly, there are a lot of places to enjoy Chinese food in Escondido, but this one should definitely be towards the top of any and everybody's list with such great, attentive service and food that is nothing short of amazing! Please try the place out! Highly recommend!

Will come back for more soon. 22 Aug 2019: We are here again for more food: ordered Pho Dac Biet for the wife and Bun Rieu for me. Both are excellent and tasty! Will come back for more different dishes!

Comfortable dining. Came for some hot food on a rainy day. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and food came out quickly. Nice change of pace place to grab some food 🥣🥣🥣

Vietnamese restaurant
Phở Ca Dao & Grill, a Vietnamese restaurant chain with a rich family history, is expanding to its eighth location in Escondido. Founded by Duke Huynh in 2001, the restaurant offers an array of traditional Vietnamese dishes including sit-down pho noodle options and various entrees. Despite temporary construction delays due to the pandemic, the new location promises to bring the same authentic flavors and warm hospitality that patrons have come to love.
This place is so cute and just waiting to serve more customers. My husband and I came here for dinner before a movie and the vibe is amazing. The staff were very attentive and accommodating to our requests. The food is amazing. They even have a cool robot delivery service that was pretty futuristic. I highly recommend stopping by for a bahn mi sandwich (mine was bbq pork and my husband got lemongrass beef).

Surprisingly the food portions and quality are great. The House Special Pho with everything and I like the rare steaks the most which are so tender. The egg rolls are fresh and crispy that dip the fish sauce enhance the flavor. However the BBQ steak and shrimp spring rolls are tasty but the rice paper is too dried and too chewy. The pan fried rice sticks with seafood is good to try. Of course, add some fish sauce enhanced the seafood flavor as well. Also, so Happy. Love the Vietnamese style dripping coffee. Nowadays, not many Vietnamese restaurants has the dripping style but the instant coffee instead.

I’ve been here a few times now. Ordered twice on Uber eats and it was so good I wanted to come sit in the restaurant and eat. Food was delicious either way! Brisket pho was perfect, huge portion of beef. My wife had the chicken Pho, and was also plenty of food and tasted great. Service is great, restaurant is very clean and welcoming, and love the little robot server and the fish tank!

We were happy to come and try this location as it just opened not too long ago. We tried a few pho restaurants in the north county area, but have never been happy or impressed with the food. I grew up eating at Pho Hoa on El Cajon Blvd, which I feel is the most authentic. Since I have moved many times I have not been there in years, but crave to find that 1 restaurant. This is better than any of the other restaurants I have found in North County. This is part of a chain, so the food is comparable to the other locations. The food seems to be a bigger portion, but the price also reflects that. I don't think I have ever paid so much for a plate at any pho restaurant. Maybe due to COVID? Anyway, it ranges from $13 - $15 a plate without the cost of add ons. The inside of this location does not match the outside. The inside is very clean and with modern decoration. The outside location is run down and there were homeless on sitting at the other end of the building. As far as service, it is the traditional pho restaurant service. They do not engage in small talk, just want to get your order and get you in and out. Think of it as a fast-food restaurant with a restaurant setting. Then you won't be disappointed in the service because your expectations will be different.

Outstanding Vietnamese food. The chicken was perfectly cooked. Moist, tender, and nicely flavored. The spring rolls were some of the best I've ever had. Super fresh ingredients.

Someone put a lot of effort into the decorations and it was sparkling clean. Huge patio, lots of TVs, cute robot busboys, rice wine cocktails. We ordered veggie fresh rolls, veg pho, fried rice, and crispy tofu. The food tasted fresh and healthy, but a bit under seasoned for our taste. Waitress was very nice.

We always love coming here. The pho and other dishes are great. I highly recommend the lemon grass steak pho. For appetizers the basil orange chicken is great, the steak buns are also great. Pho is always great during the colder seasons but even during the summer the cold dishes here like noodle bowls or banh mi are delicious. Come sit in he AC or heat and enjoy some top notch Vietnamese food.

First time here. Food was very good. Had a very good spice to everything. Restaurant was super clean. Restrooms were just as well. Restaurant was a little cold, but it was a cold day.

Son Tra is a Vietnamese restaurant located in a clean Asian market. The food is affordable and the staff are very sweet. The banh xeo here is a must-try and the avocado boba smoothie is also delicious. The spring rolls are fresh and tasty, and come quickly. Overall, this is a great place for Vietnamese cuisine.
Very cute small Vietnamese sandwich shop, nice folks inside, have other Vietnamese soups and some chinese food selection and do catering orders as well if planned. Love getting their pork sandwiches. So nice that a generous old lady gets to do something she loves in the corner of a store, it's not a fancy restaurant but it's every bit a small craft of love when you get their sandwiches.

Overall, the experience wasn't very positive. The dining area is cold. The chairs are stained and dirty. The flavor of the BBQ Chicken With Rice was mediocre. Service is nonexistent. There is no restroom on site. Since the joint is known for its banh mi sandwiches and beef noodle soup, I recommend you stick to those, preferably for takeout.

I am always looking for bun rieu and bun Bo hue and I was in the area so I googled “Vietnamese food” and this popped up. I was very intrigued with the photos I saw so I stopped by. I was already in love when I walked in and saw the already made food that was there! I am so used to Seattle where the Vietnamese deli was so dominant and I miss it! So this place reminded me of Seattle. They had spring rolls, banh cuon, egg rolls, banh Bao and so many other stuff that you can grab and go! They have a huge selection of Vietnamese sandwiches (banh mi) along with so many soups! Bun rieu and bun Bo hue is definitely one of those that is not on the common menu so I was very impressed when I saw it! I was even more impressed when they had all the authentic stuff inside of it! Including the blood cubes!!! I loved it! There is a couple tables in there that you can sit and enjoy your food too! I am going to keep coming back and trying more of their food! I can’t wait to try the banh xeo!!!

We love the bahn mi sandwiches. We’ve been multiple times and they’re always so fresh and delicious. My meat loving husband and kids love the vegetables in the bahn mi. We’ve tried beef, bbq chicken, pork belly, and bbq pork. They’re all great! There’s a long strip of fresh jalapeño that I take out rather than ordering without. It’s too confusing which is which and it’s super easy to find. Lol! We’ve had boba too and it’s also great!
Suzie L — Google review
Got a BBQ Pork Bahn Mi and it was really good. Also got a strawberry boba smoothie and it was excellent as well. For the price this place is awesome, staff speak English fairly well but definitely broken. Doesn't really matter since they were so friendly! Would definitely recommend this place for anytime of day. They have a breakfast sandwich option which looked good too 😋
Harrison B — Google review
I've been wanting to try this place for a long time but I honestly don't think I'll be back.. I went in wanting to try their Banh Xeo. Which is also known as a Korean pancake. So I walk in and place my order and the boy says "we don't have it" .. first I am very shocked because it's really just flour and water with seasonings cooked as a thin pancake to a crisp.. they could've made it.. it just seemed like they didn't want to.. I could be wrong but that was the impression I got.. So I asked for a second because I am already there so might as well figure something else out on the menu to eat right? I ended up ordering a pork belly banh mi and a Thai tea. The sandwich was good but I've had good banh mis at Vietnamese restaurants before so it didn't really win me over. The pickled daikon radishes were cut super thick but I guess that's how they do it here. The Thai tea was just okay, a little artificial tasting. Everything was just good not great.
Daniela A — Google review
Really sweet couple running the place. Awesome food. Affordable. Located next to a very very clean Asian market. Banh Xeo is a must try. Banh mi is buy 4 get 1 free.
P. T — Google review
I've stopped by here a handful of times whenever I'm in north county. Every single time the food is SO good! Its a small hole in the wall spot next to a grocery store. The prices are some of the best around ($6.50+ tax came to $7 even as of the time of this posting) for a combo of any banh mi (I like the bbq pork) plus 2 egg rolls and a canned soda. They have other options as well that I will try later but their banh mi are out of this world. The bun is nice and toasted, the meat is seasoned to perfection and juicy, the carrots and daikon radish add great texture as well as a sweet and tangy contrast to the slight spicyness of the pork. Add on top of that some great service and this becomes my go to spot for a quick bite up in north cou nty!

Mexican restaurant
Restaurant
Santa Ana Fresh Mexican Food is a hidden gem located near TJ Taco's, offering delicious and fresh Mexican cuisine. The California burrito is a standout item, featuring well-balanced fillings like carne asada and hand-cut fries. Upon entering the restaurant, the enticing aroma of sizzling carne asada sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience. While the food is top-notch and perfect for any mealtime, some patrons have noted occasional errors in their orders and limited salsa portions.
Small taco shop with a drive thru. Ordered the Menudo today, tons of meat, soup came out piping hot, just right amount of everything. Liked it a lot. Salsa bar is very good with 4 different kinds of salsa. Recommend!
Nicole G — Google review
First and last buying here!!! Bought carne asada fries, flautas, and tacos. We asked for guacamole, the sauce, and sour cream on the side and got very little. Like is also dry. Not only that. The container for Carne Asada fries is placed on the box that has a divider, so we didn't get much of the food due to that. That is 14.99 for a small portion of that food. That'scheating your customer. Oh well. We should have just gone to Albertos.
Karis G — Google review
So the food is dope. I am noticing a weird trend. I get the same thing every time I go in. Certain things I can and can’t eat(different story for another day) lol. So get the same thing before work. However the last few times price has been going up, the other day, they charged more and gave me a smaller container. Today it was even more then every other time before and again the smaller size. And the lady behind the counter, didn’t like that I asked for the receipt this time. It’s not the same person every time. But the days when it’s been high, it’s been the same lady. So they all are not on the same page, or this lady just doesn’t like me! lol. Management, I’m about to start going somewhere else if it continues. Me getting less, and they want me to pay more. And of course the receipt is sketchy and doesn’t depict an accurate order, it’s basic.

I've had a positive experience here the food is amazing. I highly recommend the beef rolled tacos with everything and the mojara the grilled fish it comes with tortillas and rice and beans, and the fries! And the adobada TJ tacos and the Aguas frescas, the staff is friendly and super cool
Rosemary E — Google review
I tried out this place today. I wasn’t disappointed as I saw a few reviews about the California burrito so that’s what I got. And it is good. Also got an order of rolled tacos. Also good (still think Sayulitas are a little better). I asked for the spiciest salsa and well, that i got. Salsa is spicy just the way I prefer it. Also ordered a cup of champurrado (its average). Overall the carne asada alone has a decent taste compared to other tacos shops around Escondido so for the first time being here i give it 4 stars because the menu is so large so I will come back to explore a few other items on the menu. Updated: menudo, beef stew (caldo de res) are also very tasty. Bumped it up to 5 stars. Well deserved. Really like the carne asada nachos (without pico) and a lot of red salsa.
