Really can't rate this. We took the time to go, only to discover the trail to the falls was damaged and we could not go. I did like that it said no pets allowed on the other trail. It gets old dodging dog poop that people are too irresponsible to clean up.

There's a very short walk to the falls and there are multiple viewing platforms. There is a large parking lot here and there is a building with restrooms. The visitor's center is just a trailer with a window for now as it is a temp building while they are preparing a permanent one. The rangers are friendly and you can stamp your national parks passport book here. If you don't have a pass for Pictured Rocks, this should be your first stop in the park.

Located in the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore Park, this waterfall is easily accessible via the trail from the visitor center. The 800 ft trail will take you to a juncture where you can view the waterfall on the lower by a boardwalk or take the stairs to view the upper part of the falls. There is a large parking lot by the visitor center. Keep in mind this is part of the National Park System and you will need to purchase a park pass.

Short walk to a very nice waterfall! There is stairs leading to an upper deck and then a lower deck aswell. There was a small crowd of people there even though it was raining. I definitely recommend giving this place a stop!

This is a short hike that is wheelchair accessible to the lower viewpoint. This was such a nice walk. It is about 800 feet from the visitor center. You can take a trail off the right that goes to an upper viewpoint. It does get crowded on the main part of the trail.

Awesome waterfall! And it's right at the visitor center. There's not many waterfalls that are this short of a walk and flat and paved the whole way. Especially being that it's less than 1/4 mile and was still flowing at the end of the summer.

It’s a short hike to see the falls. The upper trail has steps but it’s got a great view. This is a federal park so it requires a national park pass. Our veterans were free.

Nice little center telling the history of the town as well as information in pictured rocks. It has gift store attached to it and is a good place to visit if you are waiting on a boat tour.

This would have been a neat experience in an historic building, but all of the actual displays are blocked by boxes of merchandise. It's a glorified gift shop.

There's a little gift shop and also a little movie theater in the back where the original owner gave you pictured rocks and how it became a national shoreline. Extremely interesting. It's off the parking lot where you can take the pictured rocks tour. And the water

They decided not to be an interpretive center anymore. They are yet another touristy gift shop. They are so committed to not being an interpretive center they stacked tee shirt boxes in front of the displays.... Needless to say it's not a fun educational experience for families, but if you want to get yelled at for your children breathing too loud, this might be the place for you.

A worthwhile quick stop while checking out town. The interpretive center in early August has no aforementioned inventory stacked in front of displays - the space was clean and filled with historical displays and our favorite - the rocks! Gift shop had a variety of local products, cute shirts/hoodies, ornaments, and jewelry. I bought a Yooperlite and it was a little overpriced compared to the outdoors/sportsmans store around the corner where I got 2 for the same price. Overall, I’d recommend stopping by!

Vibes at this local brewery. Rustic and quaint. The beer was very good, lager was excellent. All beers were $5.00 very fair priced pints. Check them out next time you’re in town, I highly recommend East Channel Brewing Company

My oh my What a gem of a place! We stopped in for a couple of beer and he’ll in love with the place. Went back the next evening after a long hike and it was even better . Parking is roadside. Nonissue. Order at the bar and bring your drinks to your table . Pizza is a food truck and it’s pretty legit. The vibe is the best. We happened in on music night where this amazing local band played. I wanna be a Yupper now.

We had a great time at this brewery! It was a hot sunny day and this was one of the only places in town that had air conditioning and it felt amaaaazing. For being a girl who doesn’t like beer, the bartender (with pink hair) helped me find a beer I actually enjoyed (I ended up drinking three!) It was a raspberry lager made in house and it was delicious.

Super friendly service! Atmosphere is just meh…. I liked the blueberry lager the best and only $5. Also sampled the blood orange hefe (a bit too tart for me) and Raspberry Lager. Pizza next door is good and they have unique flavors, most around $13 for paper plate size - cash only).

Was ok. Nothing wrong or special. We went there on a hot day and got a couple of stouts. Usually there is allot of flavor but these did not.

Awesome beer selection at super reasonable prices. Staff are polite, helpful and friendly. Out of all the times we have been through the area, I'm sad this is only the first time for me. Will definitely be back in the future

Came in for dinner. Most pints $5 and both myself and husband were pleased with our blueberry lager and IPA. Wood-fired pizzas from Carberry's next door hit the spot. Try the blueberry- it's unique and delicious. Best meal and drinks we had in Munising.

The boat ride was 2 hours. The captain was great at pointing out the sites and making sure both sides of the boat could see them. Very organized when loading and unloading passengers. Comfortable seating area while waiting for the boat. Great gift shop. You can buy tickets in advance, but if the waves are too high the boat can't go out.

My husband and I went on the sunset pictured rocks cruise on a hot day at the end of September and it was incredible! The ride was incredibly smooth and the sights were amazing. The captain made sure to pause at iconic sites and give time for both sides of the ship to take pictures. Despite the heat, once the ship was going, it was downright chilly! So be sure to bring a jacket. I also recommend glasses/sunglasses to prevent your eyes from getting so dry. Before boarding, you have to wait in a long line on land, but get there EARLY! Like an hour early if you want a good spot. (I do recommend wearing sunscreen during the wait). Fortunately they provide comfortable chairs for the wait. After you’re done, be sure to explore the large gift store!

I would recommend going at least 40 minutes before departure so that you get those top seats. We went 25 mins early and still didn't get a chance to sit on top. They have water and chips on board, you can only stand at the lower level but yes it is a really nice spot to capture some great pictures. The trip's worth the money. Make sure to buy a hat and don't forget your sun screen 😁. Try going on a drive to Tahquamenon falls from this place. The fall colors are amazing at this time. Note: I went on a weekend so wait times might differ. Try selecting the spray falls cruise.

This is a great little tour. The sights are spectacular. And they get you up real close for a good view. The tour guide is humorous, and keeps it interesting. There is a bathroom available, tho tour itself only took a couple hours. They do have chips and soda on board if you need it. They do slow down for some good pictures. The view from the inside of the ship is good, but it is harder to get good photos with the reflection on the windows. There are windows that open and you can go out the back of the boat for pictures. I would definitely go again.

On vacation in the area and very glad we took the time to go on this scenic cruise. Some of the most unique landscapes / shore line you'll probably see in your lifetime. Bring a light coat if you get a chill easy due to the water temp / cool lake breeze. Friendly staff gave narration on the big lake and local folklore. A definite must see !

This cruise is about 2.5 hours. It's pretty and there are some neat rock formations. At start, you likely want to sit on the far right to get the best puctures. We did a cruise at noon and were on the left side. What we found was for photo's at that time, the left side was better for pictures on the return. I was called out for standing up to get pictures by Clay, for safety reasons... so pick a spot quickly, strategically, and be advised that you can't stand up to get a picture. Issac, the person who drove the boat has a wicked sense of humor. That's why I am giving them 5 stars. We were please with several shots, but I scooted to the back of the boat!

This was a wonderful experience. We chose to sit on the top deck because we wanted full view. It was windy and over 80° so you need to choose where you sit based on weather. Absolutely everything was gorgeous and our crew on the boat was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Very friendly staff, amazing view of a shipwreck, gorgeous scenery & wildlife. Our tour was cut in 1/2 due to windy conditions but we still felt like we saw all the stuff we were hoping to see and the tour company refunded us 1/2 the ticket price which I thought was amazing! Definitely recommend.

It's a two hour boat trip and we got to see three shipwrecks, though I went on this when I was younger and saw more. I do believe it just depends on what shipwrecks are available due to lake superior changing, or something like that. There were a few things you got to see other then the ship wrecks and that was the caves and coves, a gravel mine outcove, a pair of eagles in their nest, and a few lighthouses. The caption, she was very informative. Spoke a lot about the Grand Island and the area around (their history), spoke of other ship wrecks, and how some light houses work. Its a family run business and the entire crew is great, super friendly! They are very informative and funny. If you have questions you can ask, some other people did. Not me-social anxiety ✌️ If you think you might get sea sick this might not be the best for you considering you have to look down in these compartments to see the shipwrecks and sea sick + looking down is a no go. They probably dont want to clean up your lunch off the viewing glass. There are two levels, the upper level that is uncovered and the lower level, cocered, where the compartments are. Both are nice and clean. Snacks and drinks are available for a price, nothing is free these days folks. Except the bathrooms. Those were clean and free. :) I'd probably go again in a few years so i do recommend it!

My boyfriend and I took my son on a tour for his birthday! The day was literally perfect!! It was so nice out.. we loved the captain and narrator. Some pics we took and scout got 😂

This was the best! A lot of seating, snacks and sodas for purchase on the boat. The skipper was skilled and got us great views over the wrecks. Viewing was organized as each level took turns! Imagine that! Lol ~ there were also beautiful views of some of the lesser pictured rocks and knowledgeable narration. Dress in layers!!!

Fun Experience on the Glass Bottom Shipwreck tour. The tour was not just any regular Boat tour, the tour guides are very interactive and hilarious with providing information to customers. I highly recommend going on. Especially when there is a little windy weather that makes the experience of the boat ride fun.

My husband and I went on the tour in late September. During the tour you stop at two shipwrecks; the first of which is the intact Bermuda. The glass bottom boat was about 6 ft above the tallest point on the Bermuda so you get up close and personal. Captain Kate gave us a smooth ride and we got a detailed back story of each of the sites. In addition to the wrecks, they took us close to Grand Island to look at the scenery, waterfalls, and some bald eagles.

A Must-Do in Munising! The Glass Bottom Shipwreck Tour was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to the Upper Peninsula! From start to finish, the experience was both fascinating and beautifully executed. The crew was knowledgeable, friendly, and clearly passionate about sharing the maritime history of Lake Superior. We got an up-close view of two incredible shipwrecks, both resting peacefully beneath the crystal-clear water. The first was a wooden schooner still remarkably intact—you could clearly see the deck, ribs, and even parts of the mast through the glass viewing wells. The second wreck was larger and even more dramatic, with twisted metal and wooden beams sprawled across the lakebed. The clarity of the water made it feel like we were floating right above history. One of the unexpected highlights was cruising past the abandoned East Channel Lighthouse on Grand Island. It looked like something straight out of a movie—rustic, weathered, and perched hauntingly on the shoreline. The guide shared stories about its history and the role it played in guiding ships through these treacherous waters. It added so much atmosphere to the trip. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a cool, unique way to experience Lake Superior, this tour is 100% worth it. Great for families, couples, or solo travelers.

Pictured Rocks Kayaking was easily the peak of our up north trip. Many of us had seeing this national shoreline on our bucket lists since childhood and kayaking is definitely the right way doing it. The company did a fantastic job with a small tutorial and safety check to start the day. They gave us an outline of what the day would entail and how far/long we would be kayaking. Our guide, Drew, was excellent. He gave us a thorough history and background of the locations we saw and made the experience smooth and easy. He also took action shots of us throughout the trip for the family! I could not recommend Drew or this experience enough. This is a "must-do" activity when visiting Pictured Rocks.

If you're in the area, definitely go with this company — the Pictured Rocks absolutely need to be seen from the water to truly appreciate their beauty up close. We initially booked the Ultimate Tour, but it was canceled due to wind conditions. Fortunately, the staff quickly helped us reschedule. Our first outing ended up being a paddle around Grand Island instead, again due to the weather. While we were a bit disappointed, the staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating throughout the process. Luckily, we had a few days in the area and were able to wait it out. When we finally did get to go on the Ultimate Tour, it was absolutely worth it! The weather was perfect — clear skies, beautiful green waters, and we even spotted bald eagles. The guides on both trips were knowledgeable, friendly, and enthusiastic. We also really appreciated that the boat had bathrooms, and the boarding process was quick and well-organized. The entire crew was professional and clearly knew what they were doing. Overall, a fantastic experience — highly recommend!

Amazing Kayaking Experience on Lake Superior! We took a road trip from Philly around the Great Lakes and decided to kayak on Lake Superior with Pictured Rocks Kayaking—and it was absolutely worth it! The staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making sure we had all the equipment needed for a fun and safe experience. You’re grouped with a guide, and all the guides were college students who really knew what they were doing. They were patient, helpful, and made the trip even more enjoyable. The water was freezing cold but crystal clear, and being able to paddle right up close to the Pictured Rocks was incredible. The colors on the cliffs, created by the minerals in the rocks, were breathtaking—especially when passing through the archways. We had a fantastic time and would highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting the area. Pro tip: bring (or buy) a waterproof case if you plan to take your smartphone with you—if you drop it, it’s gone!

In mid-September, my wife and I did the Ultimate kayaking tour at Pictured Rocks, and our expectations were far exceeded. First there is the safety element, which PRK prioritizes. For days ahead we were in contact with the office due to sketchy weather prospects; the service desk kept us abreast of updates and held open an opportunity to modify our reservation if desired. Furthermore, once on the water our fantastic guide--Lillian--would probe ahead to evaluate the safety of, say, penetrating a tunnel through the cliffs; sometimes it was a go, sometimes deemed not. Next, there is the experience itself. I've twice transited the cliffs on foot, and will always recommend that adventure. However, kayaking the cliff base with this tour is another world entirely. The height, the color, the lake's power, the gnarly diversity of rockforms, all come into palpable and exhilarating focus. Adding to the natural wonders, the Ultimate experience includes sharing camaraderie with a youthful, exuberant, professional PRK team, and synergizing with a jazzed group of fellow kayakers. Again, I wish to give a plug to Lillian for how deftly she shepherded our novice, over-awed band of would-be voyageurs in and around the cliffs, how thoroughly she shared her copious knowledge of both Pictured Rocks and the wider region, and--despite how many times she must have done this job--how energetically and joyfully Lilian managed her wide-ranging tasks (one gains the impression that other guides shine similarly). Finally, it's more than the kayaking guides and scheduling staff that deserve credit here. The boat captain, support team, equipment preparers, and surely the administrators who orchestrate this operation, effuse spirit and competence. Finally, homage must be paid to the fact that PRK facilitates access to this wonderful tour to people of all abilities, from experts to newbies, from young to old, and from fit athletes to participants needing every iota of help to get into and out of a boat. I recommend this company and this experience as a must-do to anyone able and willing.

We went with our 2 young daughters (10 and 13) on Sunday. What an awesome way to get up and close to the caves and rock structures. Sam R was our guide and was amazing. She was great about interacting with the group as well as providing a lot of education along the way. Would definitely recommend!

We did the 5 hour ultimate tour, and it was incredible. The staff was so friendly and happy - you can tell they really like their jobs and each other. The tour was insane - we were so close to the pictured rocks that we could touch them. It really is the only way to get the full experience. We were with Lillian, and she was an incredible guide! She gave us great info about the rocks and she took our pictures and airdropped them to us on the boat ride back! So cool to be able to get photos from the trip!

Had a great time kayaking at the location. It was my first kayak experience. A special shout out to the crew and the guides. Super friendly and they just let us enjoy the trip and not worry about rest. As much as I love the location, love the way the crew and the guides have made the trip much more memorable.

june 23-24, 2025 tent camped for one night here at Site S (a beach site). (women’s) restrooms were clean, but as an FYI there are quite large gaps in between the stall doors and mirrors right across from the stalls which makes it easy to see in / lack privacy.. staff at the camp store were nice. we wish parking was a bit better for the beach/rustic tent sites. there’s only a small concrete space and some dirt parking beside it, and it seemed like not quite enough for everyone staying at the rustic beach sites (and I think each site only had 1 car; this might be due to no lines and people parking poorly too though). the site itself was BEAUTIFUL besides a bit longer of a walk to the actual Site S than we thought (but we did see a wheelbarrow you could use). it also is quite far from the restrooms, just FYI. our neighbors were polite once we talked to them but we felt frustrated when we came back to our site and the picnic table was moved (meaning one site had 2 and we now had 0). this wasn’t the campground owners’ fault though of course. the fire pit was nice. the location of the campground is nice too, as it’s not a far drive away from gas stations, stores, coffee shops, and town if needed. overall: the rustic tent sites are in an amazing location—right on the beach only a few feet from the water. the camp store and bathrooms are a bit run down in my opinion, and the main area (away from the rustic sites) didn’t feel really welcoming, but it’s worth it for the views you get at the site!

The campground is perfectly situated—just minutes from town and surrounded by parks and recreational areas. Our site was near the highway, which we anticipated, so while the road noise was noticeable, it wasn’t a surprise and did settle down overnight. Beach access from the campground is quick and easy, and the stunning views more than make up for any traffic-related inconvenience. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made our stay even more enjoyable. We’d absolutely return!

Munising Tourist Park Campground offers one of the most scenic camping experiences in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, with about 20% of the sites directly overlooking Lake Superior. The sunsets are spectacular, and the location is perfect for exploring Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore — just a few minutes away. The campground itself is clean and generally well-maintained. One of the two shower and restroom facilities were closed for remodeling so had to walk or drive to the other end of the park to use showers/restrooms. Sites vary quite a bit in size and privacy — the lakefront spots are unbeatable for the view but can be windy and more exposed, while the sites offer slightly better shelter but less scenery. Staff were all business. Upon check-in, the female was only interested in getting me checked in and helping the man that was next. No chit-chat here. Electrical hookups are available on lake side sites and saw hookups on other sites. Not sure they are available on all sites though. Also sewer at the individual sites or at least there was on ours. Not sure if there was Wi-Fi but cell service was fine. Since it's right along the highway, traffic noise has to be dealt with and can be quite loud until late at night when traffic dies down. Overall, Munising Tourist Park Campground is a great base for sightseeing, kayaking, or hiking in the area. It’s best suited for campers who value location and views over luxury amenities.

The campground is small but nice and quiet. We loved having a spot right on the water that was just a few feet from our campground! It is wasn't for the road traffic, I would give this site a 5* but being so close to the road, it was annoying at times. Beautiful campground and gorgeous lake!

This campground is one of the best we have ever stayed at! We have stayed in spots #92 and #100, both of which are lake front sites. They have firewood for sell at reasonable prices. Bathrooms are clean, and showers are individual rooms with locks. They are right off the highway, but the noise never bothers us.

Tent with a fantastic view! Bathrooms were fairly clean. Dumpster is quite far from the rustic camping sites, so some people would just pile up their trash on the small trash bin near the rustic sites. The campground offers wheelbarrows to haul gear to the rustic sites, however, some people like to hog them and you may have to wait a bit for them.

We had a site right on Lake Superior and the beach was sandy. Very shallow only waste deep. Lake Superior is a refreshing to swim in. Bathrooms we fine. Did not use showers. Busy road nearby with lots of noise, but we could still hear the waves.

Stopped for a short walk at Sand Point Beach in the Pictured Rocks area. It was a great place to walk the dogs and check out the water. We even saw some driftwood forts that some visitors must have built recently. A relaxing and quiet beachfront on Lake Superior.

Nice quiet beach with an amazing view. Dog friendly. Our dog loved it. Water is obviously cold, but not too bad for a quick wade in the summer. Great place for a picnic.

Great sandy beach with shallow waters for swimming or walking. Great views of the island and island cliffs. The west facing beach is more sandy as the north facing beach is more scenic. Rock Hunters, drive to the end of the road where you have a turn around and walk to the far east end of the north beach to hunt for those awesome Lake Superior Rocks. This also has restrooms on the west beach.

Great beach. Clean sand, lots of driftwood, beautiful views of Grand Island and the East Channel Lighthouse. The Pictured Rocks park ranger headquarters is here and a small maritime exhibit about the life saving station that was there. There are some nicely maintained bathrooms (but they are just pit toilets). The water is fairly shallow for quite a ways out and the water in the bay is a bit warmer.

This was an incredible experience! 100% worth the price. We saw some of the most beautiful views Michigan has to offer. It was such a privilege to experience. Our captain, Tim, was informative, entertaining, and funny. He ensured all the guests were having a wonderful time and he was great at making us feel safe! Make sure to pack a poncho, because you will get soaked!

The captain was not only incredibly knowledgeable about the area but also super fun and entertaining—he kept the whole boat laughing while sharing interesting facts. We got up close to waterfalls, spotted bald eagles, and captured stunning photos of the Pictured Rocks from unique angles. It was the perfect mix of adventure, beauty, and fun. Highly recommend this tour for families or anyone wanting a memorable way to see the sights!

Excellent ride, great for families. It was a warm day and we did get wet. Boat seats around 40 people and gets close to the rocks. Driver did a good job maneuvering the boat so both sides could see well but recommend sitting on the left side. Best to see on a sunny day. Recommend this tour around grand island because you see something different the whole ride. Driver was informative and entertaining. No bathrooms on the boat. Also no food or drink allowed. We did the 6pm tour and liked that time.

Amazing experience! Super up close views of Pictured Rocks with an added bonus of an exciting boat ride. Much more fun than the traditional tours. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and fun. We also saw two bald eagles during our tour.

Absolutely a incredible adventure. Captain Dave Slider has a great knowledge about the area and enjoyed narrating and cruising the shorelines. The staff answered questions and all where pleasant, joining in on the ride. Over my expectations of what I had thought.👌

We had a great time taking the Pictured Rocks tour! Our tour guide was very helpful, educational and fun! Be ready to get pretty wet, maybe wear sandals or water shoes. We got there early to get in line since whoever is first gets first pick of seats. But once our boarding time came up it was very quick to board and take off.

Highly recommend! This was such a fun ride! Tim was awesome! We were able to get so close to the rocks - even got to touch a waterfall! Take some Dramamine if you have issues with motion sickness.

The family and I did the Grand Tour. Purchasing the tickets were easy. It was a simple walk from the downtown area to the docks. The staff were nice and pleasant. Remember, if the kids are under a certain age, their ticket cost less. The tour was on-time. Loaded 15-20 mins prior to departure. The captain is a hilarious fellow and kept us entertained. We had the 1310 departure trip. It was warm and sunny. It was our first time in the area and the tour gave us a view of the Apostle Islands. I would recommend it for travelers

Great backpacking trails for a 2 plus day hike. Group sites were very clean with potable water and outhouses. Trails were moderate to easy to hike with breathtaking views. I recommend taking your time to enjoy the views. 10 out of 10 for backpacking.

I must not of read enough about this island prior to arrival & I felt like I annoyed the woman who I paid for our visit. The guys driving the boat across were very nice and helpful in suggestions even in town outside of the island. Unless you’re taking bikes, I think I would’ve saved my 100 dollars in fees and transportation to go here. The bugs were so bad it did not end up being verY enjoyable attempting to get to trout Bay, so we turned around and headed back. I think I’d of loved it more solo and also with a bug net on my face.

We took the ferry to Grand Island then hopped on the one bus tour of the day at noon. We had a great time. The island has no shops or restaurants. It does have some outhouses for your bathroom needs, but bring your own hand sanitizer and bug spray. Last boat left the island at 6pm today. We would love to come back to see Echo Lake. The bus gets you about a half mile from it, but it won't stay there for you and it's about 4.5 miles to the ferry. There are primitive camp sites throughout the island and you can reserve those online through the national forest service.

Rented a mountain bike here and it was great! We did the full 21 mile loop. The west side was the most beautiful with lots of rocky outlooks. It took us about 3.5 hours. Highly recommend!

Great experience! The bike rental was well worth it. My wife and I got on the 9:00 ferry, biked the 20 mile loop, stopped at the Grand Island National Rec Area, and were back well before the 2:00 ferry. It was absolutely gorgeous, and I would come back to the area just to do this again!

The bus tour of the island is great! Harry, the driver was informative and entertaining! I highly recommend going there! Too bad they don't allow e-bikes.

Just an amazing bay, the water is so cool and the sun there is beautiful as well as all the nice rocks!

Nicest people on the planet. Thor and a very lovely couple jumped my truck at the end of my trip with the kindest reception, courtesy, and smiles. Michigan's best kept secrets (and lovely people) compare to no place besides Key West. So grateful and fortunate.🕊️

We were in town over Labor weekend and tried The Dogpatch for both breakfast and lunch. On Sunday afternoon we stopped in for lunch. There was little to no wait less than 5 minutes. Once seated our drink order was taken and we were off and running. I knew what I wanted before going in, but my wife looked over the menu for a few minutes. She chose the grilled chicken while I had the Whitefish. Our order was placed and delivered our table in minutes. Everything was hot with great flavor. We wanted breakfast before getting on the road to head home and picked here to try. Our breakfast service was even faster than our lunch service was with an order of cinnamon French toast and the Country Boy. Our meals were good and service even better on both experiences.

The entrance faces the water. There are signs to tell you where the entrance is. The parking lot has plenty of spaces. The interior had clean lines and looks newer. There is a ramp down to the tables. The server was friendly. We went in because a sign out front said they had steaks but no steaks were on the menu. They have bar style food, almost everything is breaded. I ordered a mushroom Swiss Burger. It was a smash style burger. Fries are included. It was good. Also, I got a pep and cheese pizza. It was just OK, it was a frozen pizza (I asked). They do have a full bar and seats around 8.

My wife and I stopped here for lunch driving through from vacation. Nice atmosphere. I had the big Ab’ner (double patty) nicely seasoned burger and she had the whitefish sandwich. Both were delicious and quantity of food was very good….very good value. Rob was our server….very friendly and took great care of us. I highly recommend it!!

Food was fantastic! Great burgers! We had some fried mushrooms for an app that were good. There is a great little place next door to check out as well- highly recommend stopping in if you are in Munising!

Food is overpriced for what you get and the quality of the food is bar food at best. We all ordered something different and it seems to be frozen pre-packaged food service foods that they deep fry and serve. The location is great, close to fun shops and it’s cute inside but sadly the food did not do it for us. Additionally, we all had not eaten during the day because we were traveling so this was the first meal in about 6 or so hours. All of us were pretty sick about 5 hours after eating here. The only common items we had were the French fries and a cheese queso for the fries. Our thought is the queso was old or not stored properly. We were pretty sick for the next day or so then we all started bouncing back. Granted, we have no solid proof of them and food poisoning so I am just stating details, draw your own conclusions. Sadly, there are not many good restaurant options in the town. It is a tourist town but leaves them hanging with no great options. This place was probably one of the few restaurants that seemed to have good potential but in the end it was a let down. The best thing we found that wasn’t fried and processed was SubWay. Terrible! Overall it’s a cute restaurant and the food will fill you up but that’s it, no real wow factor here and there obviously is a potential for food poisoning. I’m not sure I would recommend this place but everyone can decide for themselves and leave a review so that we all can put together a consensus.

Stopped for supper here on my way to Marquette on 6.21.2025. My experience could have been better. From my waiter, Trevor, I got the impression this place was serve, eat and leave. The Fish and Chips were good.

The Dogpatch is a great option for breakfast, instead of waiting in line for a tiny table at the super small, popular BREAKFAST cafe 2 blocks away. We sat right down and ordered right away. Breakfast was really good! Hot, generous portions, and our waitress, while busy, was friendly and attentive. You can’t help but laugh at the menu and the comical “interior decor!” With its log cabin design, this restaurant can be a little dark inside — we choose to sit on the windowed side which offered plenty of daylight. After breakfast, we walked directly next door to a gift shop that looks small from the outside but was well stocked with souvenirs, etc.

We stopped here after our boat tour to get late lunch. This place has wonderful coffee and delicious sandwiches - we enjoyed gyros and avocado toast. Spacious seating and nice book/art shop. People here are amazing!

We wanted to get quick take out breakfast and coffee to take as sustenance on the Pictured Rock Cruise on Lake Superior, so we were in a time crunch. They quickly made us toasted breakfast bagels of egg, bacon, and cheese and filled cups of coffee for our excursion. And we got to the boat in time! Cool place. Next visit, I will sit and read books while enjoying a leisurely breakfast!

Stopped in for a hot chocolate. Very good. They have various coffees, tea. As well as sandwiches and ice cream & a few other items. Very nice café & coffee shop. Laid back and relaxing. Went back for a bite for breakfast: English muffin & bagel, coffee. Neither one was toasted, most likely microwaved. We asked for them to be toasted, wife said her bagel was very "doughy." My English muffin was barely warm. Butter was one big "glob" on one side & nothing on other piece of muffin. Cofee's were not so good. However, gal at register was very nice.

This is a magical little bookstore/coffee shop that also serves sandwiches & ice cream. The atmosphere is absolutely perfect, with people perusing books and families playing board games together on the various tables. There's a small kids play area, making this the perfect place for busy families to gather for lunch or coffee while the kids also enjoy playing. We didn't get any food today, but the menu looked good. They have gluten free bread, leading to many sandwich options. The music was perfect, and the vibe was exactly what I'm always looking for. I don't live in Munising, but if I did, I would be a regular here!

Came across nice little local cafe, that also has a bookstore. The serve breakfast, coffee and lunch item. Everything that we ordered was good except the avocado toast. The toast was just a thin spread avocado. There was barely any avocado on it. Breakfast sandwich and Sweet Potato Quinoa burger was delicious.

This was such a fun stop. It took a bit of time but worth the wait. The coffee was good, the crossaint sandwich was so good I forgot to get a picture before I ate it all. The books, a mix of new and old were fun to browse. Some very unique options.

Best food we had in Munising. The sweet potato quinoa burger was tasty and a real highlight. I also tried the breakfast burrito and it was okay but not worth going back for. The guy next to me had a egg sandwich on a croissant and i wosh i had ordered thst. The coffee was so-so and the ordering and service process was confusing. But if you can manage those aspects then the food is worth it.

Muldoons Pasties & Gifts is a must-stop if you’re in the area! Went at the end of July! The staff here go above and beyond, not just with service but also with education—they happily explain to visitors what a pasty is, the history behind it, and the different varieties they make fresh daily. It’s a great touch that makes the experience even more special. I recommend trying the Beef, Veggie, and Chicken pasties—you really can’t go wrong. The crust is perfectly golden and flaky without being greasy, while the filling is hearty, flavorful, and seasoned just right. Each bite feels like warm, homemade comfort food. The shop itself is spotless, welcoming, and has a relaxed, friendly vibe. Between the delicious food, the cheerful and knowledgeable staff, and the unique local gifts, Muldoons delivers an experience that’s both tasty and memorable.

Honestly the best beef pasty I’ve had in the UP in many years. I highly recommend the gravy, it really adds a nice flavor. The gift shop is adorable with jams, fudge, and small gifts. No indoor seating so take it to go if the weather is bad.

We had to try these, so we got the chicken, beef and an apple pie. The beef was delicious and had a pot pie feel to it, we dipped it in the gravy. We honestly didn’t care for the chicken, flashbacks to tune helper as a kid 😂. The apple pie was amazing. Fast friendly service, seating outside. Definitely recommend giving it a shot. We will return!

This was my first time trying pasties and they tasted great! I was pleasantly surprised that the pasties were not dry at all like how I thought they would be. I recommend getting the chicken with gravy. The apple pastie is great if you like sweets as well! Service was really fast and the people working are great. The pasties are literally a pound, so come with an appetite.

I tried a pasty for the very first time, and I was pleasantly surprised — it was really good! Warm and hearty, it made for a satisfying snack and a great introduction to this local specialty. The fudge was absolutely delicious as well. Out of all the flavors I sampled, the peanut butter and chocolate combination was my favorite — rich, creamy, and perfectly balanced in sweetness. There were so many flavors to choose from that it was actually hard to decide, so I’ll definitely have to come back to try more

Tried the Pasties for the first time. They were good. Different flavors than we were expecting. We got beef, chicken, and dessert raspberry. We did the gravey for the dinner ones. They were good. Chicken is more like a dry chicken pot pie. Raspberry pastie was so good we bought the last few they had for the day. Made early, they will sell out late in the day. Are warm and ready to eat. Worth a try.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was my first ever pasty and wow — it was absolutely amazing! Mouthwatering, flavorful, and everything I didn’t know I was missing in life. Ketchup is definitely the only way to go (trust me! 😂). The place itself was super clean, inviting, and had that cozy, hometown feel. My husband, who’s had plenty of pasties before, said this one was hands down one of the best he’s ever had. It completely blew our expectations out of the water. If you’re anywhere near the area, you have to stop and grab one — you won’t regret it! I just wish they shipped, because I’d order a box right now! 🥟❤️

Wow! What an amazing experience! Our guide was knowledgeable and so nice! I wasn’t sure what to expect since I’ve never been in a kayak but after a quick introduction and instructions we were on our way and the 6 hours flew by! The water was a bit choppy at times but our guide tested the waves before letting us get too close to the cliffs and we felt safe the whole time. I would definitely do it again next time I visit!

This is a must do excursion if you’re vacationing in Michigan!!! We did a 3 hour tour and it was WELL worth the cost to experience some amazing views!! It wasn’t physically exhausting by any means and the water was SO CLEAR that we were able to spot the wreckage of a 100+ year old ship! We even got to go through a narrow enough way that we could touch each side of the rocks! Also had a good time cooling off under the waterfalls! Shoutout to our tour guide Shelby who made it even better with tons of info and history of the rock formations, waterfalls, and the plants and animals that inhabit the area!!

We did a tour around Grand island and had a great time. It was a bit windy but our guides were super accommodating and provided blankets and you can also bring your own. You can also bring snacks and drinks in the boat. We got bloody Marys from the bar and were given lids to take them in the boat and it was *chefs kiss*

Took the 6 hour kayak tour of Pictured Rocks. Our guide was McCoy who was very friendly, engaging, and funny. The trip itself was easy to do as an amateur kayaker. The lunch spot/turn around point was nice. Really good way to see everything.

I had the time of my life here !!! I went on the 6 hour paddlers choice and loved it, our tour guide ( Dom ) was great, very informational, well mannered, to the point and very safe. I really enjoyed him being so friendly and helpful! The equipment was nice and up to date. The staff were friendly, great place to bring the family or just some friends!

The photos don’t do it any justice! We did the 3 hour tour and our guides were Dom and Marty since we were in a group of 14 (normally the do groups of 10 per guide). Both provided details along the way and made it entertaining. I gave it 4 stars because the owners need to replace many of their kayaks. Many did not have the pedals or working adjustable pedals to place your feet on and the kayak we were on was warped because no matter what we did we kept zig zagging and pulling to the left. On the return trip we had to be towed in by Marty because of this.

My five friends and I enjoyed a wonderful kayaking tour with chase as our guide. He was so informative about the rock formations and could answer any questions we asked! If I’m ever in town again I’ll definitely be kayaking with y’all again!! Thank you!!

Amazing coffee shop!! The atmosphere is second to none, with the amazing pictures on display, to the feeling of stepping back in time. My red eye and makes good was awesome. The service was top notch. 6/28/24

The environment was beautiful with all artwork, they were roasting more coffee while we were there which is fun. The latte was good, although they could have dial-in the espresso decaf shots a little better.

A fun and funky coffee shop that doubles as an event center with classic decor and darn good coffee. They made our drinks quickly and they tasted delicious, and their muffins were out of this world. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the blueberry muffin both times we went, and their apple crunch muffin was quite awesome as well. The decor also features a really funky and cool classic radio collection! Would recommend as it definitely seems like a favorite spot of the locals as well.

Beautiful setting in a historic downtown building that’s fully renovated and has area pictures hanging on walls at every turn plus a collection of old radios! 📻 My cappuccino was made perfectly and delicious 🤤 and my husband had brewed coffee ☕️ and a blueberry 🫐 muffins that was scrumptious. Must see and stop when driving thru!

I stopped in on my way through. Incredibly friendly people both on the staff and in the café my coffee was great and I had a muffin also delicious. It is a limited food menu. They have a venue and offer live music which also seems great. look forward to my next time stopping by

Loved my visit to Gallery Coffee Co! I ordered a maple latte and it was delicious—made with locally sourced Michigan maple syrup. Just a heads-up: it’s on the sweeter side, so I’d recommend asking for a little less maple. Once it’s balanced, the flavor is rich, cozy, and absolutely worth it. Great vibe and super friendly staff too!

06/24/2025 we stopped here when driving through town on a camping trip and I had to get some work done on my laptop. it’s a really unique space that also has wifi and restrooms. workers were friendly & the drinks were good! I would definitely frequent this place if I lived closer and totally recommend if you’re visiting or passing through Munising!

Limited tour/access during our visit so unable to fully assess the facility. It is a shortt walk, about a mile from the glass bottom boat tours. This lighthouse was used to warn the tour about weather while we were on Lake Superior.

Located right on M28. Plenty of parking. Cannot go into the lighthouse tower but the brick building in front of it is used by park services and open for public. Plenty of parking next to the building.

Your basic lighthouse. Can't go inside. But there's a picnic table you can eat at. Its easy acces with parking right by it.

Flew in from California to see lighthouses and backpack pictured rocks. running into an extra Lighthouse on our way to our hotel. Was a wonderful surprise. And seeing that it was a front range, I immediately looked up where the rear range was. Found it and drove to see it also.

What a great experience! In a town where you can find food and no bar, or bar and no food, this place hit the mark! Not only a tasting room for wine, beer and bourbon, but a full craft cocktail experience. Carol and Heidi were fun and informative, and created perfect custom cocktails. The food truck (Superior Sizzle) just outside provided a perfect answer to our search for food and beverage in one place. Delicious whitefish and shrimp, plus a nice assortment of other choices. They feature local beer, wine and liquors and also sell many of these in their retail store. All in all a great and fun experience! Highly recommend!

My sister & I stumbled across this place after a kayaking trip & touring the town. This place is SOOO CUTE, lots of cool & cute things to buy, & the wine was great! We had SOOO much with the staff Emmy & Ellery! We even went and visited Ellery at her other job at a restaurant the next night per her invitation. We make this our annual stop when coming to Munising. A fun yet chill atmosphere and Heidi is great at explaining the wines. Some good wines in their selection. Highly recommend!

Such a cool little full service bar. They have retail, tasting & food (food truck in the afternoon). The bartender, Heidi, was so fun and made us feel right at home! Loved her sarcastic humor, reminds me of myself. Highly recommend you to stop in if you're in the Munising area!

After going on this tour as a family of 2 adults and 2 teens, we found it to be a great experience! The guides were friendly and helpful and obviously quite competent. Their experience and the small tour groups made it feel very safe. We also appreciated the extra touches of things provided at no extra cost (dry bags, sunscreen, bug spray, spray jackets, life jackets with a whistle, etc) They provided clear and helpful Instructions if you are new to kayaking. On a calm day, it was not very strenuous. The 4-hour, half-day tour felt a little bit short, but a great time while we were out. Thank you, Northern Waters Adventures.

Best Kayaking tour company I’ve ever used! I’ve kayaked in many places and used several companies but none compare to this one- they are professional, clean, organized, fun and patient! A group of 5 friends and I used them last weekend for a sunset tour, we were the only group. James and Roman were our tour guides, they did an exceptional job!!! James and Roman were THE BEST! We enjoyed our tour very much, they were patient with our group, informative, and fun! Our views were breathtaking, many have highly complimented my photos from this tour! The company has all the basic essentials you need for the tour, if you forgot something they are likely to have it available to you free of charge. Can’t write enough good things about them. Highly Recommend this company and our tour guides!!

Recommend Northern Adventures over all the other kayak rental companies. Only 8 people in our guided tour, much nicer than the over crowded 100 ppl In the other tours groups. Bobbi was extremely knowledgeable, lots of experience and super cool. Her Geology major came in handy with answering our many questions. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Vans, boats and all equipment clean and in great shape. We were offered bottled water and dry jackets to use at no extra charge (super helpful considering it was a cool August morning) Will use Northern Adventures again on our next trip.

We took the 6 hour trip to picture rock. There were four of us in our group and NWA gave us great information on what to wear and what to bring. First of all, the tour is absolutely amazing. Who would have thought such a beautiful place existed? We had two guides assisting us and they brought all of the boats and paddles to the beach and all we had to do was take their shuttle and load. Both guides spent the day providing local information, history of the rocks and we just a delight. We would consider doing this trip again on our next visit!

First time with Northern Waters and definitely wont be the last! My husband and I did the morning half tour and we both had a blast! I love that the company contacted us 2 days prior to reschedule because of bad weather, so we were able to make last minute changes with our travel plans. It worked out great because we had the perfect weather while we were out there. So thank you for prioritizing safety!! Paul and Jake were awesome tour guides, they made the experience way better and took the time to get to know everyone. Cant say enough nice things about this company! Pictured Rocks also lived up to its name, couldn't stop taking photos of everything and anything!

My husband and I were visiting the UP in August and were going to hike Pictured Rocks but after a foot injury decided to kayak instead and we are so glad we did! Northern Waters team was punctual, friendly and the guides were especially entertaining. Don't hesitate, book it before it sells out, the 4 pm outing was amazing!

We had such a great time out on the water. Our guides were great and they have all the extra gear you need. They provide free waters, splash jackets, life vests, lunch boxes with ice pack, and dry bags. They were even friendly enough to watch our sheltie pup the whole day while we were out on the water. I would highly recommend going on the tour with these guys. Our group was mostly beginners and they did a great job making sure everyone knew what to do.

Beautiful area, awesome place to sit and send out your fishing line… the water is very clear and beautiful but catching fish gets tough after 10 AM, and starts to pick back up around 7 PM

Cool spot to kick back and relax

We broke down and this is the place we ended up. Under the extenuating circumstances we were allowed to camp for the night. We had a great time while we were there. There is a nice fishing pier. The locals do leave their row boats on the beach. However, there is plenty of room to still walk it and enjoy some peace and a relaxing time in a scenic beauty.

This is a definite must-see tour to take to see some fabulous scenery. The souvenir shop has nice quality, inexpensive clothing and jackets. Dress warm as the boat ride is windy at times, even on sunny days. Highly recommend!!

Worth doing once!

Super cool area to hike to in the winter. Pretty tricky hike when it's icy or the snow is packed down. Everything was starting to melt when we went so no actual climbing, but it's close to an ice fishing area so it was a fun afternoon walking out on the ice and checking it all out.

These are cool. Finally were able to get to the Upper Peninsula to see the ice caves.

There needs to be a comment that this thing does not exist, there is no waterfall during the regular season. It is just a winter attraction because we saw nothing.

Right on the side of the road. It’s a pullout. There is a green sign to let you know you are there. It’s quite muddy around the falls.

It's easy to get to, a road side waterfall. It is slightly obstructed but all and all worth a stop. The road is busy so don't get got by Michigan's speedy drivers.

Pretty, not much parking off busy & fast road. Free, you can see it without getting out of your vehicle, but if you walk up the hill you can see the top much better. Was super muddy and not a very good patch when I went in fall.

Simple falls right along the road. Can see them from the car. Just a few places to park. Only takes a few minutes. So close to town.

Nice stop & has a place to pull your car off the main busy road. Can view from the road or walk up closer. Small trail may be a little muddy so be prepared!

It's on the side of the highway, not really any true parking for this water fall. It's hard to get a great view of it without walking through a bit of brush. Just be careful if you park on the side of the highway because of course everyone feels entitled to go 85 mph and cares not at all if someone is walking on the edge of a road. Michigan has some of the worst drivers I have ever seen, and that's saying a lot.

The path to the waterfall is really easy, making it a good spot for non woodsy hikers. It is also an impressive waterfall and stream you can get up close to. The grounds are amazing duck ponds, plants, trees, and nice walking paths. There is also a gnome scavenger hunt that was fun for even the older kids.

This was the highlight from the disappointment of the expensive falls by Pictured Rock. It was $10/ person, not $15. So it saved our family of 3, $18.00 as they offer senior discount. They had a scavenger hunt for my son, and it was a complete pleasure to see the awesome setup this place offered. I loved the wishing well, and the staff were so amazing. I highly recommend to bring the Littles to this place. Amazing gift shop, too.

Stopped by on a whim and was really liked this place. Pay $12 and you get to feed ducks and fish, the botanical gardens are very well maintained with a cool wishing well. But the best thing was the waterfall. Definitely worth checking out!

Since 1970, Horseshoe Falls tranquil and natural setting has been the perfect spot to experience nature at its best. The grounds are well maintained, enabling visitors to see the wide variety of trees and plants that grow naturally within the fall’s vicinity. Water from the falls cascades to form a pond, home to many large rainbow trout. Children and adults alike enjoy feeding the trout as well as participating in our gnome scavenger hunt. Plus, we love dogs! Bring your furry friend with you on your adventures.

The entry fee is $12/each. We chose not to go. There are about 5 waterfalls within 5 minutes that don't charge a fee. Castle Rock was $2/each, and we paid for that. Their gift shop is nice. Maybe we're missing something, but we had visited falls for 2 days and this was the only one with a fee.

CAUTION: Tourist trap. There's a $12 admission to view a waterfall that should be free for all to see. You're better off saving your time and money for any of the other much larger waterfalls in the U.P. that are free to see and enjoy.

After 7 waterfalls, this was the first where we had an admission cost. But don’t let that deter you. The falls are gorgeous and the grounds are fun and whimsical. A great spot. Plus the gift shop is very cute and the staff was friendly. A must-see in Munising.

Very scenic, beautiful area to hike. 1.6 miles to falls; 1.6 back out. Trail is very well maintained in all areas except one set of steps. 168 foot elevation gain in an easy ascent. A couple spots are muddy for July but not slippery and were easily side-stepped. Falls views had a little tree blockage in the field of vision. As many reviews on various platforms have stated, bug repellent is a must, and coming early is the way to go if you want to get an actual parking spot. And, can-in-the-ground no-flush toilets are at the parking area but no other facilities are on the path. There are also no benches or seats along the way. As someone who needs to be careful with temperature and humidity, the 9am temperature today was in the mid 60s with medium humidity but I never needed my neckfan. A great way to spend a morning!

It’s a nice hike to Chapel Falls but it’s worth the hike. Make sure to not to turn back, keep going to see Chapel Rock. It’s confusing there and not marked. We then made the mistake of turning back after Chapel Rock when we could of just continued in the loop to Mosquito Falls. Also, parking is bad! Go early!

This is a great hike. Its a very easy trail, nice and wide plus only 1 short area with an incline. The falls are awesome and some areas you can stomp around in and explore. I would highly recommend this on you UP Tour. Road into falls is a bit rough, lots of pot holes and parking is crowded but we didn't encounter that many people on the hike.

Mosquito Falls and Chapel Falls via Chapel loop in Munising, Mi. Parking lot fills up by about 9:00am. The road in is rough. Start the hike going clockwise. You will hike through the woods a few miles and then it opens up to the stunning Pictured Rocks Lakeshore. About 7 miles in you can walk down to the beach. The whole hike is 11.2 miles. Definitely bring water and a snack. Take all the little out trails to the shoreline. You are hiking near cliffs so don’t bring children.

Its a 1.4 milke hike to the falls from the Chapel basin parking lot. Its an easy trail. Path was bit muddy. Hike trail is well marked and was filled with fall colors . You can continue the trail for another 1.8 mile to view Chapel rocks,a must visit !!! Water volume was quite good. You can view falls from 3 angels / view points We visited during Oct 11th best time to enjoy the falls with fall colors! There is a restroom at the start of the trail near the parking lot.

With the walk from the car added in, this ended up being a 8 mile loop for us. The chapel falls portion is a little longer than the other section, beautiful tree canopy on this section as well. Beach is well worth the trip. If you do the chapel falls section first, follow the trail just above the beach to find the return loop on the other side, which has a marker that says chapel parking. Great hike all around, not to be missed!

Mostly my bad for not paying attention closer to the route but as soon as we got off the main road I wasn’t sure what we were in for. My CRV handled this rough terrain like a champ.. although there were many times I questioned if she’d make it with large holes on the dirt road. I saw a few smaller compact cars have to turn around as they weren’t able to make it. GPS might take you to the wrong area but there is decent signage when you land where the GPS brings you to keep going. We saw chapel falls and it was just over a 3 mile hike round trip. It was beautiful and the views of this powerful waterfall was worth it. We were on a time constraint so we did not get to see mosquito falls but it looked like it was a shorter hike. Bathrooms on site before the trails.

Alger County Heritage Center in Munising, MI, is a charming step back in time. Inside, explore an old classroom, traditional sauna, rustic barn, cozy kitchen with a hidden closet, and a vintage living room. The basement is devoted to the area’s logging history and features kitchenware made entirely of wood. Outside, you’ll find an authentic old log cabin. There’s no admission fee, but donations are welcome—making it an easy and rewarding stop for anyone who loves local history.

There is a sign on the door that reads as closed, the sign has no open hours. I arrived on a day/time it was supposed to be open as so many others have, and it is not open.

Great trails that are interesting and can keep you entertained for a long time. I would've given it 5 stars if it wasn't for the map. It's in miles and feet with some trails not labeled at all. It says each measurement is for sections but it's inconsistent what sections are. Mountain goat and flow and steady are especially unclear. The map looks pretty but it's super unprofessional seeing as it came from an actual mapping company.

Very cool park! Decent climb in elevation right from the parking lot. My young sons had a blast in "pump U.P. da jam" and "da play zone". Will definitely be riding this park more!

Great spot!!! I didn’t have my bike so I walked my dog on the two dog friendly trails. It was absolutely beautiful! They have done an amazing job making these trails! Definitely a must stop spot for biking or a beautiful hike!!!

What a great park for this area. Took my 13 year old son on his first trail ride here. He loved it. They have all the tools at the base if you need them. The green was on the blue level, due to the pea gravel they used on the trail (makes corners slippery for new riders not familiar with breaking properly) and the lack of shoulder on the trail can make the pea gravel pretty sketchy at times, even for a avid rider. I am not complaining about it, just letting others know if it is their first time riding this course. The trail.is very well maintained and cared for. Thanks for providing this place for us to use!

My kids, 10 and 13, and I had a great time in this trail and in the park area. Well maintained, easy parking, air and tools in the parking lot was awesome!

This is a great place! I am 50 something and my girls are teens and we have ok but older bikes with city/hybrid tires. We did the Gateway trail three times in two days. First time was 15 mins, then 12 then 10 mins. So it’s an easy excursion if your passing through or it’s easy to bike to from most campgrounds and hotels in MUNISING. It’s fairly easy if you want it to be or you can make it challenging by going faster or taking other loops.

This is essentially a giant playground for mountain bikes and it's fabulous. There is a pretty substantial climb right out of the trail head, but the trail is very linear, well groomed, and plenty of traction on the crushed limestone. The bike park and jump track were super easy to fine once at the top. All the trails are clearly marked. The skills area was super fun. A lot of work was put into that area and it shows. The jump line was fun too. Very smooth and good flow. Do not miss this park.

While the center is not large, it’s conveniently situated at the trailhead for Munising Falls, a short, easy hike along a paved path to the waterfall’s main viewing platform. The falls themselves are about 50 feet high and accessible year-round, with stunning ice formations in the winter months. For those seeking a bit more adventure, additional viewpoints are accessible via stairs

Small but well staffed. The falls are washed out due to a storm in Spring 2025 and they anticipate it being closed until next year. This is where you purchase your car pass for Pictured Rocks. Only saw one ranger all day, probably federal cut backs.

A nice visitors center - information. clean restrooms. Family friendly center. Parking is available. Trails are labeled.

Although the Munising Falls visiting center was closed, we did the hiking trail to the left of the center and it was breath taking. If you like to hike up hill... it is amazing.

Rangers are very polite. They provide valuable hiking and kayak information, guidance and advice. They'll even provide weather information if you ask 😀

The trail to the falls was closed when we went, but there was still another cute little trail through the woods with a bridge.

The visitor center is a great place to start, but yet it was closed due to the government shut down. Bathrooms were open, which was great, but yet there were maps you could take pictures from but no maps you could actually take with you… Again government shut down. 75 feet of the beginning of the trail was also closed due to a washout from back in April 2025. Hopefully that will get restored soon. Highly recommend an a must do.

Nice look out with a beautiful view! This is worth the stop. Parking and access easy. Has handicap accessible wood plank trail to the view. Also accessible pit toilets; hand sanitizer outside them.

Beautiful roadside stop. The vault toilets are old and pretty bad, but if you bring your own hand sanitizer, and immediately leave wand walk across the street to the overview? You forget all about the horrors you just experienced and are overcome with how beautiful and scenic the overlook is. A wonderful surprise during what was a long, hot drive! 🥰♥️👏🏽 ( I live in landlocked southern Illinois, so forgive me for my awe-stricken writing!)

Great experience with Grand Harbor scenic tours. A fantastic up close voyage of this beautiful national treasure. The shore line, with it's breathtaking views of cliffs (some 200 feet high) show the raw power of Lake Superior's waves and wind in full power over the centuries, carving out of caves, archways, and beautiful colors in this age old sandstone. It's diffently a trip for alarchway, Another real bonus was the spectator fall colors, diffently in peak for another week!

Such a great little roadside park, and so many people drive right on by! There are some beautiful views of Grand Island and even Pictured Rocks from this little lookout! It's a hill though! You drive up a pretty good hill to get to the top, and then it's just a short little walk to the scenic overlook! It's worth stopping, especially in the fall!

There is a good view of the Pictured Rocks cliff line in the National Lakeshore from the viewing platform which is handicap accessible. The view is pretty far off but one can see the big picture. There are bathrooms and not any real parking for RVs but a big loop to turn around.

This is an amazing waterfall. About .6 miles to hike in. Nothing drastic. 72 steps at the end and you can walk down to the lower park. There is challenging terrain once at the bottom but you can get to the base of the falls. Beautiful and feels great!

A gorgeous waterfall with multiple viewpoints. 15 minutes from the parking lot to the falls or less. I visited on the last weekend of September around 1pm and it was pretty busy; the parking lot was full enough for cars to line the road coming up. Don’t let that deter you! Only about half of visitors or less ended up at the bottom of the falls due to the steep and rugged climb down, so I was able to get about 3 minutes uninterrupted with the falls for clear photos. The climb down involves a very steep rooted path over the rocks with a roughly 4’ wall of rock to scale when coming back up about midway (a foot step is carved in the stone but kids will definitely need help). There are two viewing platforms across from the top if you can’t make it down, but I saw a group of 7-10y/o kids and at the bottom with their parents.

Finally posting from August. Beautiful hike thru the woods. It does involve some stairs and inclines. My Apple Watch clocked it at 1.34 miles and 30minutes.

Amazing. The final 50ft descend to the waterfall is not paved. But there are ropes and roots that can be used as hand rails.

Very cool to see these falls up close. There are quite a few stairs to climb after a relatively easy hike.

Lots of mosquitoes during this time of the year so beware! Still worth a visit though since it’s easy to find with very short, easy trail.

Beautiful falls that are currently somewhat obscured by recent storm damage. If you can look past the downed trees, the falls are beautiful. Part of me wanted to climb down and push the trees off, but I have no idea what the laws are regarding something like that in Michigan. Hopefully someone from their parks or forestry department can get out there and clean that up. The path and bridges here are well made and well-kept. There are nice views on both sides of the path, though I found the right side (while headed towards the falls) to be far more impressive. There's a nice railed platform that offers views for about six people at a time. The signage here gives some details of the history, a map of several other waterfalls, and emergency numbers and looks to be kept in good repair. There is a decent sized parking area across the street. There are no restrooms or picnic tables, though there are several benches. Worth visiting, but would be significantly better if they moved the fallen trees off to the sides.

Very short walk to a great waterfall. While its not a hug fall, its still very pretty and all the scenery adds to it. There is limited parking at the trailhead, but people are continuously coming and going. The trail is well marked and a beautiful walk as well. If you have an extra 30 minutes in Munising it is worth a stop.

Nice little area that you could walk on with a wheelchair. There was some small hills but managable with a little extra pushing. Had a wooden bridge walkway too. It was a short walk to see the waterfall.

Very easy walk from the parking area. Path is clear and wide. Stroller access until the viewing platform for those with young ones. The falls are beautiful and have a great viewing deck. We went in the evening (around 7:30) and got to enjoy it all to ourselves. That obviously won’t be everyone’s experience, but it made ours really great.

Another beautiful Michigan beach. I prefer 12 miles beach but this one is nice too.

Well worth the roughly 10km round trip. We visited on a weekday and the parking was very busy by 11 so best to get there early. The beach itself was very nice, the water was clear and it wasn't too cold.

Lovely sandy Lake Superior Beach. Made for a great place to take lunch on a long hike. The beach has so much to offer...panoramic views of Lake Superior, Chapel Rock can be found on the eastern edge of the beach, as well as the Chapel River flows into Lake Superior. Did I mention copious amounts of soft sand? The beach is rather large and though areas of the trail were kind of busy the beach itself was practically vacant , and just so happened to be there on a day in which the Lake was exceptionally tranquil.

Nice beach with an amaizing view of the Lake Superior. Worth of walking for around 3.6 miles to reach there from the parking lot. Cellphone network is often unavailable around this place. Google map is often not directing to the parkig lot properly. No doubt about the amaizing view of the beach itself and the falls on the way. Strongly recommend carying drinking water and electrolyte with you. Must follow the trails. Better to follow others or walking together if you are in a group. Trails are sometimes slippery, better having a stick at hand which you may collect on your way from fallen branches of trees. You may encounter snake in the walking trails leading to the beach. We have encountered it unfortunately.

Beautiful beach, very clear clean water. Bugs are definitely an issue to probably wouldn’t hang out on the sand. We visited as part of the chapel falls trail so went in for a quick dip and then continued the walk.

It’s 6.5 miles to the beach and back and was a great walk. I would say much of it was a hike, but it was nice to have the waterfall as a pit stop on the way. It’s mid May and no horse flies, nor am I sure when they show up. I recommend a late morning jaunt.

Amazing clean beach on Lake Superior. Was quiet when we went in June. Great rock hounding and beach glass. Definitely worth the walk.

Closed from the main trailhead because of the locals. The only way to get there now is via the north country trail by the Munising Falls located behind the admissions building and the shop. To be completely honest it doesn’t look like the pictures from the bottom and it is a bummer that it is gate-keeped by the community.

I tried droning it from the neighborhood but there isn't anything in any of the canopy openings. Not fair something so beautiful is closed off.

The falls is now on private property and the trail is closed to the public. This is according to the park ranger at munising falls. There is also a hefty fine for trespassing.

I finally got to see this fall after missing it a few years ago, there is no place to park next to the stairs and one must park a distance and hoof it in,, I was THE ONLY person back there and the hike is precarious, bring hiking sticks and wear hike shoes or boots, very scary in spots where the trail gave away but once u get back there,,its "wow worthy" I spent some time going down and around the falls and taking photos,,, stupendous and very happy I finally got to see this!!

Absolutely gorgeous and one of my favorite waterfalls in the UP. It's not large, but so picturesque. We went the end of July after a decent period of rain and it was flowing wonderfully. Park on Washington Street next to a small brick building and then cross the street over a guard rail and you will see a small opening in the trees on the far side that has signage and some wood boardwalks. Upon entering the forest you are met with two signs, M falls and O falls. The O falls to the right will take you to Tannery Falls. A short but slightly challenging hike is all it takes. There is some roots and rocks as well as some rather steep hills to climb. You will pass by a large and stunning rock wall. Those who have trouble walking may find it difficult or impossible to reach.

Great little hike a really cool waterfalls!

Peaceful walk down to the waterfall. It was great to see a small hydroelectric plant. You can peek in through the metal mesh to see the turbines going and the water coming out of the back of the plant. There were a few trials in the area as well. Worth the stop!

06/23/2025 wasn’t expecting these falls to be so big or beautiful, so it was a wonderful sight to see just a short downhill walk from the parking area!! I was a bit worried about making a wrong turn or being somewhere we weren’t supposed to be when turning onto the dirt road from the main road, but don’t worry, you’re in the right spot. worth it!!

There is a hard packed, sand road that leads to the falls. At first, you may think you're in the wrong place, but you're not. There is a small hike to the falls itself, and you can get as close to it as you want to. Beautiful, clear, cold water. Just a nice waterfall.

Unique falls to visit if you are in the Au Train area. The falls are shallow and great to walk around on. The bridge at the end of the falls is great for those who just want to look. There are a few areas for picnicking so its a great spot to spend some extra time.

Park across the road at the roadside park and walk right over to this sweet waterfall, you can even walk behind the waterfall. Beautiful spot you could easily miss driving by and worth the stop!

This is a cute little falls that you can get right up to if you want to. It is right...by...the...road !! Easy to bypass.

Pretty falls, right off the road. A little muddy and slick when walking down to it but can just as easily get pictures at the road side.

What a beautiful and relaxing place to explore. We drove around all day exploring and taking pictures. First, we visited a waterfall off in the enchanting forest. Then, we took a walk along rapids in a river and watched the sun bring on dusk. As we explored, we say very few people. If u enjoy getting away from the hustle and bustle. This is the place to go.....Enjoy

This national park is absolutely beautiful! It’s perfect for a relaxing walk or an easy stroll along the beach. The coastline is stunning, with soft sand and peaceful waves, and the scenic views make it a great place to take photos or just enjoy nature. It’s calm, refreshing, and a wonderful spot to unwind by the sea. Highly recommended for anyone who loves beautiful landscapes and a peaceful atmosphere.

This forest is beautiful even in the summertime. The temperature was fairly cool in the low 40s overnight but warmed up into a nice comfortable 60s for my hike. I went in July and it was a really nice experience to hike around Grand Isle. The people in the area in the rangers associated with the forest were very nice.

Had a great time, the water is amazingly clear. I would suggest going early to get onboard.

Everything was litter free and beautiful, lots of biking and hiking trails, and lots of places to kayak. The water falls up here are small and perfect for standing under on a hot day. The only complaint I have is there is no overnight parking anywhere.

We backpacked Grand Island and the views were stunning. It's a great 2-3 day hike depending on how fast or slow you want to go. We spent 2 days on the island. People will tell you that it has a lot of inclines and declines but It was our first backpacking trip ever and we didn't really notice at all.

The lady at this visitor center on Hwy. 28 (near Hwy. 94 - not downtown) gave us info on the waterfalls in the area. She strongly recommended visiting the Horseshoe Falls, as it also offered beautiful botanical gardens, etc.....well worth visiting (her words). The waterfall wasn't that outstanding, the summer gardens were long gone - it is fall, after all. There was an informative walk thru the words identifying the various trees, a pond with fish and ducks to view or feed - it was pretty. We were quite disappointed as it cost $9 - Senior rate for each of us and didn't take long at all. It wasn't worth $18. It would be much better to go in the summer.

This visitor center does have some brochures, a free waterfall map, and maps for purchase. There are local souvenirs.

06/24/2025 we stopped here on a camping trip in the UP to get a pass for Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. when we parked, we were a little hesitant because there were no other cars there and the visitor center looked less official (not necessarily in a bad way) than other visitor centers we’ve visited. the person working also didn’t greet us when we walked in, but they turned out to be super nice! they helped us get our pass and we were on our way. there’s also some souvenirs, home decor, stickers, and maps available for purchase here but they didn’t all seem to be super high quality.

Very helpful attendant. Very welcoming and full of local knowledge and quick to answer your question. Lots of information inside. Also a gift and souvenir shop. Located next to grocery store plaza so easy to find.

This is a gift shop, NOT a visitor center. They had a great selection of gifts, but it just is not a welcome center and that was what I wanted when I stopped in. If you ask for a free map they will try to act like they don’t have free maps and keep talking about the ones they have for sale.

So helpful and informative. But the parking lot isn't very big. I managed to get my 52' RV + toad in and out, but it was tight. You could park in the large store parking lot behind it.

We ran across M28 from the parking area for the front range light, maybe not recommended with little ones, but traffic wasn’t bad. Single lane drive back to the lighthouse which you can see from 28 but no true parking spot. Enough room to turn a car around. Lighthouse is literally just hiding among the trees!

Just a lighthouse in the woods...it's right off the road across from the "Welcome To Christmas" sign. It's easy to miss because of the trees. Neat roadside attraction. There was no one there you can basically just drive back to see it.

I agree with Barb. Definitely a hidden gem! 😍 I just wish it was open for tours so we could see that view from the tower.

Beautiful lake view, but walk down to the beach from the end of the drive. Really soft, deep sand that you can easily get your vehicle stuck in.

Nice little roadside stop , the lighthouse itself has been very well taken care of , and there is an amazing beach right across the street.

I love lighthouses! I peeked in the windows of this one but, unfortunately, it's not open to the public. But it was still a great thing to see and the front light on the beach is part of the fun!

Hidden gem...the unpaved driveway is located across the street from the "Welcome to Chrismas, Michigan" sign. Very "short" drive down path and "OMG, there it is." Must see, just which I could have climbed the tower.

Honestly I really enjoyed being back on the ice , reminds me of when I was a child and being able to take my children ice skating for the first time was great , over all thou it was great, I didn't try to food, however the people seem nice enough , there shoes are decent, and they have really good prices ... I like the learning gaurds they give you so you don't fall , my wife ad kids loved those ...

The new boards and glass are great and you can't beat their concession prices

I don't know if this is a permanent thing, but when I was in town the public skating was free ($2 skate rental), which made this an excellent choice for an afternoon activity while the snow was raging outside!
