Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse, built in 1892, stands as a historic beacon at the Straits of Mackinac where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet. Its castle-like appearance and proximity to the Mackinac Bridge and Fort Michilimackinac make it a beloved landmark. Deactivated in the 1950s, it now operates as a museum offering restored living quarters and educational exhibits. Visitors can climb the tower for panoramic views of the lakes.
We had a great time here. The staff there were so nice and informative. We had a great time. We loved the shipwreck museum and the tower tour. Plus this is part of the State Historical Parks and so admission with the family pass gave us 7 day pass to be used at all State historical parks in the Mackanaw area, including the Mackanac Island sites.
Murphys O — Google review
Not a bad price for what you can see but don't come when there is lightning in the area if you want to climb the lighthouse tower. I got my ticket and lightning struck 1 mile away and they canceled the tower climb. But other than that not a bad view of the bridge.

Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse Visiting the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse feels like stepping back into Michigan’s nautical history. The moment you arrive, the beautifully preserved red-brick structure and its classic tower signal the importance this beacon held for generations of Great Lakes mariners. Exhibits inside are thoughtfully curated, showcasing period artifacts, interactive displays, and the fascinating story of shipping and shipwrecks along the treacherous straits. During my visit, the highlight was the lighthouse attendant, whose passion for history elevated the experience. His thorough explanations covered everything from the engineering of the Fresnel lens to day-in-the-life recollections of past keepers and their families. He answered questions with patience and depth, weaving in local anecdotes and shipwreck tales that made the tour engaging for all ages. The grounds themselves are immaculate and offer panoramic views of the Mackinac Bridge and Lake Huron—perfect for photography. The restored keeper’s quarters and fog signal building add extra layers of interest for history buffs. Whether you’re a lighthouse enthusiast or exploring Mackinaw City for the first time, this site delivers on educational value, authenticity, and scenic charm.

Throughly enjoyed the light house. It is a small museum but the view from the top of the light house is lovely. We purchased the 7 day family pass and visited multiple sites in 2 days. With the family pass you can go back multiple times during the 7 days.
Kate N — Google review
Worth checking out and the entrance fee because this lighthouse has a human guide who succinctly explains the relevance and importance of the lighthouse and what the teams did. It has a wonderful museum, audiovisual program and preserved house below the light.
Catherine ( — Google review
Just before you cross into the UP, it was a nice little detour. A lot of knowledge along the self guided trail. There's a QR code option for a tour but I opted out of that.
Christina D — Google review
As a last minute decision to visit we had a great time. We really enjoyed our lighthouse tour and the guide was great. The kids loved the shipwreck museum
Ashley R — Google review
We arrived in the evening so it was not open. It was still great to see. The locals seem to congregate there at sunset to watch the water and the bridge.

Maritime museum
The Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum is a unique nautical museum located on a former WWII Coast Guard ship. It offers seasonal visits and even overnight stays for an immersive experience. The museum showcases the renowned Great Lakes icebreaker vessel, which played a crucial role in keeping the Straits of Mackinac free of ice during World War II. Visitors can explore the history of Great Lakes shipping and learn about the region's rich maritime heritage.
It was a very interesting place to explore, there was a tour guide who gave a lot of info. We explored every room on the Icebreaker. Very cool! Be careful with climbing the narrow ladders, if you have mobility issues, this place might be very challenging.
Inna P — Google review
lots of fun, great learning opportunity, get your tickets at the old photo booth kiosk in the parking lot or just purchase tickets from the gift shop aboard the ship. Just walk past the boat repair shop, up the road past the sail boats. The fella that welcomes you aboard is very friendly and welcoming. Oh yeah, you need to have a little agility to navigate the steel ladder/steps in between ship decks. If your very obese, you might want to pass. The staff is very knowledgeable, the young fella in the engine room is full of interesting info on the diesel power plants and how the ice breaker functions. Kids will have a blast climbing up and down the deck ladders. I'm in my 50's and had a blast.
Eric H — Google review
This was a cool stop on our family vacation! It was neat to learn about the coast guard and the ice breaker. It was a simple self guided tour, with information guides along the way. The staff was all very nice and answered questions too. Very cool place! And you get a gorgeous view of the bridge!
Amanda G — Google review
This was a great experience. I had access to nearly the entire ship. A great self tour. Easy to follow. Great access to the engine rooms and captains quarters.
Matt S — Google review
It's a interesting tour.. you go around the ship.. steps are like steep ladders but if you go down them backwards it helps alot. Saddest part about the tour is a video on how they decommissioned the ship after 62 years of service. That was on June 10 2006.
Lisa F — Google review
This was awesome! They have arrows to lead the way: there was lots of interaction and knowledgeable staff throughout! Highly recommend!

We’ve toured the Icebreaker Mackinaw Maritime Museum several times, and it’s always such a fantastic experience! Our seven-year-old son is absolutely obsessed with the ship, and every visit feels just as exciting as the first. The employees are incredibly kind and patient, taking the time to make our son feel special while also making the whole family feel welcome. It’s a wonderful place for kids and adults alike, and we’re so grateful to have such a unique piece of history to explore again and again. Highly recommend!

Self guided tour of the ship was very interesting. I spent 3 hours exploring ship and talking to people who worked on the ship.

Colonial Michilimackinac is a historic fort and fur trading village that offers daily reenactments, history exhibits, and tours during the spring to fall seasons. The fort was originally built by French traders in 1670 and has been reconstructed based on extensive archaeological work.
Great area to visit. I never went in the Fort, but the park around it is free to enjoy. If you want to go into the water the beach is very rocky, wear old shoes or aqua socks. Nice view of Bridge and you can even go under it. Plenty of picnic tables.
Andy P — Google review
What a great place to learn about the history of the area. We came on a weekday, after Labor Day, so we only had to share the fort with about a dozen other people. It was great. Despite it being a slow day, there were active exhibits and reenactors throughout the fort and buildings. British soldiers were there to explain different aspects of their daily life and duties. We met a fur trader that told us about the different boats and canoes they used. And a colonial woman was busy in her home baking a cake in a dutch oven next to an open fire. Very much worth the visit.
Troy M — Google review
If you enjoy history this is an excellent attraction. Located just prior to the Machinac Bridge. You enter at the gift shop and walk down to the fort. Best to start this tour by watching a 20 minute video that does a great job explaining the history of the fort and the time period. There are employees dressed in era period clothing and very well versed in the forts history and life during that time period. You are provided a map with 22 sites of interest offering exhibits, videos and written information that does an excellent job explaining the history, life inside and challenges of that time period. There are 7 different demonstrations throughout the day that are worth attending. Plenty of parking (free) and clean restrooms located at the entrance and inside the fort. You can enter and exit as long as you keep your ticket for that day. Definitely worth the admission price $16 for adults. Be prepared to walk (wear comfortable shoes) and take plenty of photos. You can get some good pictures of the bridge from the fort. Highly recommend if your a history buff or just want to know more about colonial period history. There is a NO smoking policy, please be respectful of this. Several people on the day we visited didn't adhere to this policy.
David I — Google review
This is a beautiful fort to visit. Wow were were impressed with the views, then the buildings, then the gardens maintained, the displays inside, and the the staff that did the demonstrations of life in the fort. Really worth going to.
Murphys O — Google review
I loved my visit to the Colonial Michilimackinac Lighthouse in Michigan—it’s a fantastic spot to explore the region’s history, especially if you’re interested in lighthouses and shipwrecks. What I Enjoyed Most The exhibits provided a fascinating look at lighthouse technology and the important role these structures played for ships navigating the Straits of Mackinac. Displays on local shipwrecks told dramatic stories and showcased relics recovered from the lake, adding a real sense of adventure. Staff were knowledgeable and enthusiastic, answering questions and sharing fun historical anecdotes. The lighthouse itself is beautifully maintained, offering great views of the water and nearby Mackinac Bridge. Atmosphere and Experience The location is scenic, right on the shoreline with a peaceful atmosphere perfect for a day of learning and relaxation. Interpretive signage and hands-on exhibits made the experience engaging for visitors of all ages. There’s plenty to see, whether you’re a maritime buff or just curious about Michigan’s unique history. Final Thoughts If you’re in the area, the Colonial Michilimackinac Lighthouse is a must-visit destination for history lovers—especially those drawn to tales of shipwrecks and Great Lakes exploration

We stopped by on a Sunday. The staff was friendly. Parking was free and on site. They have accessible restrooms on site in two different locations. Great views of the water and bridge.
Rachel F — Google review
We had a great time! Spent approximately 2 hours there. Nice gravel walkways. Plenty cool things to see, with great views of the lake! We were able to take our dog.

McGulpin Point Lighthouse, a restored brick lighthouse built in 1869, is open to the public for visits and features a gift shop. Located in Mackinaw City, this touristy town serves as the gateway to Mackinac Island and offers a rich historical narrative intertwined with cultural heritage. Visitors can explore charming streets and landmarks that effortlessly blend past and present.
I've been here several times, as it is only about a 10-minute drive from Mackinaw City. It's hit or miss on whether the lighthouse itself is actually open, but even so, the complex is fun to walk around. There's a nice trail that leads down to the lake. There's a quant gift shop, and it costs $3 (cash or credit card) to enter the museum portion and climb the tower. The museum is very well decorated with authentic historic items and has a lot of information to read. There's also a video you can watch. The view from the tower was mostly obscured by tall trees, so you can't really see the lake or the bridge very well. It's definitely an enjoyable and educational experience.
Truth4believers — Google review
Great beach. The lake is beautiful and so calm and the rocks are plentiful. Bring mosquito spray. Those are kinda bad when your first getting on the beach.
T L — Google review
Recommend taking the trail down to the water for awesome views of the Mackinaw Bridge. Great facility photos. The trail is relatively short but there is some elevation. Views from the top are also pretty epic.
Gerid ( — Google review
A nice little lighthouse- enjoyable visit! For only $3 per person we got to climb the lighthouse tower, which was cool! It had a great view of the bridge. The volunteer there gave a great little verbal presentation about the lighthouse's history. He was very knowledgeable and engaging! Cool little piece of history for a nice visit.
Karoline W — Google review
Nice light house with an interesting history of ownership. The placards with the brief shipwreck history is interesting. Lots of lost lives.

Alot of history on signs all over the park. Great for history lovers. There is also a beautiful trail that leads to the lake.

The Mackinaw Bridge Museum, situated in the picturesque town of Mackinaw City, is a captivating destination for those with an interest in history and engineering. This museum is dedicated to showcasing the rich history, construction, and significance of the iconic Mackinac Bridge that connects Michigan's Upper and Lower Peninsulas. Visitors can delve into the fascinating story behind the bridge's creation while exploring artifacts from its construction.
Want great information about the bridge? This museum is amazing, artifacts, stories, video records by people who built the bridge, and a theater that plays a great documentary about the bridge... the only weird but strangely interesting thing is where it’s located, above a pizza shop.
Benjamin N — Google review
Free museum is located on the upper floor of Mama Mia's Pizza; a collection of memorabilia, photos and more from the construction of the Mackinaw Bridge. Some exhibits are on the edges of the dining area and may be less accessible during busy times. Check the back for a small number of vintage arcade cabinets.
A P — Google review
This is a very underrated asset to this area. It is a very interesting and powerful place. Highly recommend for anyone passing through.
Charlie E — Google review
It's a great little museum with so many artifacts from the building of the bridge. Take the time to watch the movies.
Jeremy S — Google review
Great spot to have a quick detour of your wanting to do some sightseeing at museums. This location is inside a pizza eatery, located up stairs. There is no entry fee to see the museums artifacts. It did feel weird looking at these items while everyone else is eating around you, but hey I suppose your use to it if you wantto sit there and eat while people walk around looking at artifacts. I would visit it again though and maybe try out the pizza too.
Khristi C — Google review
I thought this was so neat! What an amazing job these men did. I could never imagine. My man is an ironworker, local 17, he loved this as well. Definitely more than me lol. Ironworkers also get a 20% off discount with your membership card.

Fun little break from the hustle and bustle outside on the mackinaw crossings strip. Located upstairs inside Mama Mias Pizza, it's fun to eat with entertainment. There are a few rooms filled with items from the making of the Mackinaw Bridge. Interesting, historical items displayed were more impressive to the adults than the kids. There was a screen or two showing movies, clips and interviews but we could not listen for too long. Small but educational.

Wawatam Park in Mackinaw City is a picturesque waterside park that offers various amenities for visitors to enjoy. It features a playground, picnic tables, grills, telescopes, and restrooms. The park provides an ideal setting for outdoor relaxation near the waterfront with its ample picnic spots and benches offering views of Mackinac Island in the distance. Visitors can take leisurely walks along the beach or paddle along the waterfront while admiring historic sites and lush green parks.
An old school small wooden playground for the kids. Has a few things that kept a 8 yr old way more content than a 2 yr old that could hardly traverse the structure. It seems part of the equipment are not what they used to be, but fun to a kid nonetheless. The beach is awesome and has a great view of the bridge to the left. There are bathrooms, 2 picnic tables and drinking fountains available but we did not use either.
Beth — Google review
Great spot to watch the ferries come and go. Small playground equipment for the kids. Picnic tables and benches but no outdoor grills. Great views and 2 coin operated telescopes. Small beach swimming access. Bathroom does not have changing tables.

This little park, is a true gem (that is free to use)! There is free 3 hour parking too. It has a small playground, a nice beach area on the shore of Lake Huron, great views of the Mackinaw Bridge, & bathrooms. There are also benches & picnic tables to use too. The beach area is a bit rocky, but there is some sand so you can easily get your toes in the sand. The water gets deep pretty quickly though, so beware if you chose to swim.
Robin S — Google review
This is a great spot for the family. We visit every year and enjoy the waves as the ferry’s pass by. Decent little playground, places to sit and eat, and even bathrooms. The restrooms can get dirty if people are jerks but typically not that bad. Watch out for the gulls, they will attack your food if you’re not looking. Great views of the islands, bridge, and surrounding areas. Have fun!

Shepler's Mackinac Island Ferry is a renowned and dependable transportation service in Mackinaw City, Michigan, offering visitors a convenient and delightful way to access Mackinac Island. With over 70 years of experience, Shepler's is the preferred choice for travelers in the area. Captain William Shepler established the company in 1945 with a vision of providing faster and more efficient ferry services.
16-minute ride to Mackinac Island from Mackinaw city. Quick boat ride. I wish I had looked at the reviews. When you exit the boat and get to the street. Turn right and go about 7/10s of mile to visitors center on the right and let them give you ideas on tours. Your legs will thank you. Beautiful place.

Buy ferry & parking tickets online. When it gets busy, there can be a very long line to get on the ferry anyway. They are highly organized though and everything is run efficiently. There is also a shuttle from the parking lot, but no skipping the line unless you have enhanced tickets. We walked from the parking lot which was just 3 minutes. The ferry is awesome and the ride takes about 20 minutes.
JitkaKac — Google review
If you're planning a trip to Michigan's Mackinac Island, THIS is the ferry service to use. They've been in business since 1945 and no one does customer service to the Island like Shepler's! Since 1966, we have used Shepler's for every yearly trip we've made to Mackinac Island. Full service, they can transport luggage, bikes, baby carriages, and tourists looking for a bit of history, a slice or two of fudge, and a lot of horsing around! Their vessels are clean, well maintained and their staff is neatly dressed, professional, and personable. You can purchase tickets right at the dock and they offer a variety of shuttle services from various motels, their big "day" lot, etc. Shepler's runs like a well-oiled machine. They have docks in Mackinac City and St. Ignace and during the prime summer season they offer their signature "under the bridge" early morning departures (highly recommend).
Terri G — Google review
Nice staff, clean ferry’s, impeccably on time. My only complaint, I purchased “enhanced” tickets on line and they had no value whatsoever. Basically wasted $24. We were just in line with everyone else, I’m not sure what the purpose of the “enhanced” ticket is. Other than that, an excellent experience.
Doug S — Google review
Top notch ferry service to/from Mackinac Island. All the Shepler's ferry vessels looked clean and well maintained. Crew members and staff were all friendly, professional, and safety conscious. Nice facilities and large parking lots for those that need a parking spot (parking is not free).
Howard S — Google review
Things went very smoothly. Prepurchased adult ticket, 2 bikes and day lot parking. Now they are charging to park during the day! Been coming here for about 40 years and never paid to park unless I was staying overnight. Efficient loading, mostly friendly staff, but no reason to pay for my vehicle because there isn't anyone to process you when you depart. With the price increases, feel like a money grab to pay for parking too. Enjoyed going under the bridge in the morning.
Teresa F — Google review
Rode the ferry to Mackinac Island. Get here early and find a where to park unless you want to pay $50 to park on-site. The other parking is only $15 and shuttle buses run constantly picking up and dropping off. You can also pay for parking and tickets to ride the ferry at once that saves you $3 at the main booth instead using the QR code scanner. Get there early and enjoy!
R.A. M — Google review
Their website is very user friendly and you are able to add on other services. Parking in the day lot was easy. The free shuttle from the lot to the pier was event free. The que was well marked and sectioned off. Loading and unloading were easy. The staff loads your luggage and bikes before passengers. The ferry runs every 30 minutes.

Amazing Dining Experience at Audie's Restaurant! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I had the pleasure of dining at Audie's Restaurant during my visit to Mackinaw City, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we walked in, the cozy and inviting atmosphere set the tone for a fantastic meal. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious—each dish was prepared to perfection. We started with the fresh, flavorful salad, followed by a creamy and rich Alfredo pasta that was a true delight. The fried fish was another highlight, perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. We also tried their French toast, which was wonderfully fluffy and perfectly golden, a great option for anyone craving comfort food. The dessert was the cherry on top, with their homemade pies being the perfect sweet end to a great meal. The service was quick without feeling rushed, and the entire experience was well worth every penny. If you're in Mackinaw City, I highly recommend Audie's Restaurant for a memorable dining experience. Excellent food, great service, and a charming ambiance—definitely deserving of 5 stars!

Fabulous from start to finish, came back later for the homemade maple ice cream. If you're worried about waiting, go between 4-6pm. Went Wednesday evening, no wait, came back 7:30pm for dessert, no wait. Food was delicious! Staff was friendly and happy to be there, always smiling and helpful, even another waitress noticed my husband's almost empty water glass and came over to fill it. Stop in, you won't be disappointed.

Ambience : it has some different indoor decor with jungle theme. Sitting arrangement is nice and spacious. Food: we ordered prawns , grilled chicken Parmesan pasta, chicken Overall it was great and tasty. Our waiter was great. We reached the restaurant little around 9:30 and their closing time is 10 PM but they made sure we are served well and patiently served us food and waited for us. Definitely visiting next time when I am in mackinaw city. It was walkable from our hotel also. Highly recommended.

Jenny is waiting on us. She’s pleasant. Ordered a bison burger, onion rings, crab cakes, Parmesan encrusted Cajun whitefish, sweet potato fries, added a side Caesar salad and side romaine wedge salad. $70.21 They do charge 3% to use CC here. They wouldn’t let me use my Amex card. So I can’t use my card of choice and they still charged me 3%z The crab cakes are crispy and quite tasty. They aren’t big, but enough for a starter. My husband didn’t want the Caesar he ordered and so I ended up eating the Caesar and he ate the wedge salad. The blue cheese dressing and the Caesar dressing are both good. Both salads have tomatoes and carrots. The onion rings are so-so, not so warm. Not super crunchy. The sweet potato fries are thin, but good. The whitefish Parmesan encrusted is decent, just keep an eye out for small bones and some skin left on the filet. The Parmesan encrusted seasoning is good. I let the staff know about the bones in the fish. They told us the fish come pre-boned, but they missed it. No kidding. The bison burger was good.

This place is a gem! Id highly recommend their Crabcake from the appetizer menu and Parmesan crust Whitefish the main menu. Their crab cakes are definitely unique IMO, they were lightly fried and served in a shrimp based sauce. Parmesan crust Whitefish was just perfectly made. One can also get different seasoning for the whitefish. Everything was quickly served to us within 15 mins of ordering.

Found this place last year & had to come again when visiting Mackinaw this time. Went 2 evenings in a row to get more mushrooms. Loved them so much that we ordered some to go on our way out of town too. Best battered mushrooms ever & perch dinner was great too.

The Caesar salad was to die for! Husband had fish and chips and I had the chicken Parmesan. Couldn’t skip dessert, the strawberry cheesecake was delicious as well. This was our first meal after the 8 hour drive in. Great start to our trip!
Rebekah O — Google review
We were on breakfast side. Loved the food. Cute side of the restaurant. There was alot of banging on chairs from the staff trying to fix them the entire duration of our visit and made it very uncomfortable, annoying and hurt our ears. I worked in restaurant business for a long while and we didnt so much as vacuum around customer's let alone hammer metal on metal causing a nails on chalkboard screech. Based on that alone I would call ahead and make sure they arent doing work on the resturant as you eat if you have an autistic/SN family member. The mimosas were great and biggest cinnamon roll I've ever seen. We have been to dinner side a few months ago and it was absolutely perfect. Would revisit again.

National Parks
Headlands International Dark Sky Park, located west of Mackinaw City in Northwest Lower Michigan, spans 550 acres of woodland and features over 2 miles of undeveloped Lake Michigan beach. The park offers a unique stargazing experience with its Dark Sky designation, featuring an observatory for researchers and staff, astronomy talks and tours, dedicated viewing platforms, and telescopes manned by volunteers.
Absolutely GORGEOUS! The winding sidewalk was dotted with red lights as guides, opening into a mini-ampitheatre of seating & colums overlooking the wild lake & giant sky. Behind the Event Center spreads undulating manicured lawns--great to set up telescopes and picnic blankets . It's all so genuinely BEAUTIFUL! Good for the soul! We came here at night, & again near sunset. It was overcast at night, but it was great to be that close to the water in that classically beautiful environment! The universe is framed by silhouetted treetops & an ever-unfurling lake, even behind a batting of clouds. Totally nurtures your humanity!
Atomic S — Google review
My first dark sky park experience, and this was so cool! We went during the sunset for some good views and checked out the gift shop. But the best part was going back at midnight for a few hours to look up at the sky and stars! I wish I had brought a blanket or a chair that lays back so I could lay back to see everything, and I was glad I brought layers because it was chilly at night. Also, wear bug spray; by the water at night and with all the forestry around, it was buggy. Lastly, I wish I had binoculars (or even better, a telescope)… if you have these definitely bring them! I don’t have pictures from nighttime, but have one from the gift shop and a few from the sunset.
Carolyn S — Google review
This place is AMAZING. If you go when it's dark, bring red light (no white light allowed). The gift shop is open 24/7 and very informative. Maybe bring a blanket/sheet. Some bug spray. Turn the brightenness down on your phone and turn off adaptive brightness and screen light to for facial recognition. Your eyeballs will thank you later as you acclimate them to the darkness, more and more stars become visible to your makes eye. Bright screens reset that process.
Gerid ( — Google review
A must see! It's beautiful during the day and it's not just for star gazing! From the website: The grounds, trails, and viewing areas at the Headlands are open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Visitors are welcome to stay out through the night for dark-sky viewing opportunities, but camping is not permitted. The Headlands is not intended as an overnight sleeping destination but instead is designated as a place to stay awake and view the stars. You may bring blankets, chairs, food, beverages, etc. When packing, keep in mind that temperatures are typically 10 degrees lower than expected due to our proximity to the lake shore. As a courtesy to others, we do not permit white lights (flashlights or cell phones) in the designated viewing area. Red-filtered flashlights are permitted and are sold on-site. Well-mannered pets are permitted on a six-foot leash. View the Dark Sky Etiquette Guidelines before you visit.
Suzy — Google review
Love this place! I've been when the viewing of the night sky is perfect. Definitely, a gift to be able to experience the night sky at The Headlands. Such limited light noise allows spectacular views of the night sky. This is a very peaceful place to visit even on an overcast day. We enjoyed sitting on the tiered seats looking out at the water. Interesting information provided throughout the drive into the park too. Make sure to check their calendar for events. Many are offered throughout the year. Also, check to see if there are any private events that might close the gift shop or a portion of the park area before you arrive.
Wendy T — Google review
These views are just a very very short walk through the trees from the massive parking lot! BREATHTAKING! When I went it was not busy at all, and I felt like I had the area mostly to myself. Well worth it to stop here- I know I'll return again and again!
Jamie M — Google review
What an awesome spot for all of your dark sky watching! From rock picking during the day to catching northern lights with like minded people is great. When you make your way out of the park and make it to the road, go straight thru the stop sign instead of turning right. It's a gorgeous view of the bridge!

Bière de Mac Brew Works is a trendy craft brewery and restaurant located in Mackinaw City, Michigan. Opened in 2017 by the Ranville family, it pays homage to the area's heritage and specializes in French- and Belgian-inspired ales with a wide range of flavors. The brewery has gained recognition for its beer, Fleur de Mac, which was named Beer of the Year by Michigans Best team.
I’m sure we’ve been to over a hundred breweries, in a dozen countries or more including France, Germany and Belgium), and Biere de Mac Brew Works in Mackinaw City Michigan is for sure one of the best. Specializing in traditional French and Belgian styles, they have one of the most accomplished and diverse in-house tap lists that we’ve come across. There were no misses, and there menu is the perfect compliment with various smoked meat options and a smoked whitefish dip that is darn near worth trip on its own. The brewers are a trio of mad scientists that are pushing some seriously delicious pints. It’s just off the interstate, nestled in a woody area, and I’m sure the grounds are just as inviting as the beer hall and service were inside. Biere de Mac Brew Works for the win. Literally, as they’ve won many awards, including Michigan’s beer of the year.
Ryan L — Google review
Whenever I travel, I tend to follow a simple guideline when choosing where to eat: a welcoming outdoor space with a good vibe (especially if it’s dog-friendly), a small but thoughtful menu, and a strong beer or drink selection. This place checked every box — and then some. The brisket sandwich was a standout. I’ve had my fair share of barbecue, from hidden gems to renowned smokehouses, but this one genuinely surprised me. It was rich, balanced, and memorable — the kind of meal that lingers with you long after the last bite. The beer list was equally well-crafted. It wasn’t overwhelming, but every option felt intentional. One of the Belgian-style pours immediately brought me back to past travels in Europe — familiar, yet with its own local character. What tied it all together was the atmosphere. Friendly staff, relaxed energy, and a setting that felt like it was made for long, unhurried evenings. Whether you’re exploring the area or just passing through, this spot offers something special — a rare blend of comfort, quality, and care. Highly recommend making it a stop on your journey — with or without a dog by your side.
Joey Z — Google review
It doesn't look like much from the outside, but this brewery has a fun inside and a large beer garden. The beer is French style, so not all or them were my favorite. There was a delicious blueberry beer though! I highly recommend getting the smoked dish dip. The bartenders was nice and knowledgeable, and he gave out small samples.
Maia H — Google review
Just a few blocks off the main drag, this place might look unassuming from the outside, but don’t let that fool you—it’s one of the best brewery experiences I’ve ever had. This family-run spot (shoutout to Danny and his dad George!) treats every guest like a regular, walking you through the beer list with care and great recommendations. The beer is outstanding. Danny, without formal brewing experience, went above and beyond—calling European breweries to match water profiles and stay true to tradition. Standouts include: Fleur de Mac (voted best beer in Michigan), Janis the Eagle (one of the only true Latvian beers in the U.S.), Blueberry Wheat (their top seller), and my personal favorite, Jacob’s Farmhouse. We also had the smoked whitefish on fresh bread with sweet & spicy pickles—absolutely delicious! This place is authentic, welcoming, and truly passionate about what they do. Skip the tourist traps and make this your go-to stop in Mackinaw City. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you are a Boonedocker traveler in a 30 Ft or less RV, Van, or Rig and traveling to Mackinaw City trust me this is where you want to book through Harvest Host for your overnight parking!! Not only will you get a menu option that is not the usual “bar” food but you’ll get multiple yummy beer options, out door sitting (fire pits) Count Me In!!! We just happened to come across this gem, while spending over an hour trying to find a place for over night parking in the city, folks it doesn’t exist just jump into Harvest Host and get your spot!!! Thank you Seth for the great service and the owners came in and suggested many points of interest from the cities to the Island. We had a peaceful night sleep.

Fantastic beer and food with a charming beer garden that’s both dog and kid friendly! The menu is small and the tap room didn’t look like much, but don’t let that fool you. This was a highlight of our up north trip. The Jacob’s Farmhouse beer and brisket sandwich were incredible. Definitely worth a stop and we’ll be back!
Sarah D — Google review
We stopped in at Bière de Mac on our way to the UP. Located off I-75 exit 337, this unassuming little brewery is simply amazing! Their beers are unique and incorporate the traditions of French and Belgian ales. The food menu is small, but the offerings are tasty and quality is top tier. We tried a flight of 6 beers and the Montréal brisket sandwich, and wow were we blown away by how good everything tasted! The staff was super friendly and welcoming too.
A C — Google review
Bière de Mac produces some really interesting styles of beer, notably their farmhouse ales, which were the highlight of the taplist for me. Everything I tried was really well-crafted and true to style. If you're in the Mackinac area and looking for some great beers outside of the normal styles you find at almost every brewery, check out Bière de Mac—you won't be disappointed.

Located in Mackinaw City, Animal Tracks is a popular mini-golf course known for its family-friendly atmosphere and forest and wildlife theme. The 18-hole course features waterfalls, rocks, and educational information about Northern Michigan animals and their tracks. Players are challenged to match the animals with their tracks on the hole markers. While some visitors found the holes relatively easy, they appreciated the scenic surroundings and enjoyed learning about local wildlife.
This course was a great break from a long drive. The greens were very consistent with nice putters. This is a very unique visit and I would totally recommend!!!

$37.06 for a round of gold for 2 adults and 2 kids with a discount from a flyer. About an hour and fifteen minutes for the 18 holes. Great scenery with lots of waterfalls . Very plain holes that are relatively easy for all ages which is to be expected. A few more water obstacles or bigger ornamental pieces around the course would have been nice. Bring drinks yourself as the vending machine was totally empty. Blackberry bush with fresh Blackberries at hole 7 was a nice treat. The family had fun. It’s nice and shady most of the way so you are not roasting in the sun.

This place is great. My son wanted to play putt putt so we happened to find this on google and we were so glad that we did!! It was such a great find and on the 10th hole you can take a little break and stop into Starbucks and then continue on with your game. We had a great time. I highly recommend stopping here.

Great golf. Gave it 4stars only because it is quite pricey. 😞 Grandsons loved it tho so we had fun.
Tim C — Google review
For 2 kids and 2 adults it was close to if not over 60 dollars. It rained the previous night but several of the holes had brown dirty water in them. I'm not sure why the attendant couldn't get a wet vacuum to clean out the holes or do something about this. The attendant was either stoned or hungover. Holes were OK but not taking care of the place after rain and leaving it like that for people to play on is wrong. I'd save your money to play putt putt back home honestly not worth the price. They up it cause your on vacation.
Ken B — Google review
Well maintained and updated. Very clean and course in great condition.
Brad M — Google review
It's well maintained and decorated with the bears and fountains. But the water or bears don't play any part in the course. I thought the price was very high for the flash but little substance. I know we're talking about mini golf, but put some bears on the course.

Looks like it's under construction, but my son & I decided to try it out. Cost was more than we expected. Online it a.stated it was $10 a person & we had a coupon (BOGO) & it still cost almost $20. Overall the course was nice & we got our money's worth. Would go again.

Mackinaw Area Historical Society Heritage Village is a living history center that brings late-1800s village life to life through restored buildings and educational programs. The village represents the area's history from 1880 to 1917, showcasing the transitional period when significant changes occurred.
We took our children there on our way out of town and spent almost 2 hours walking around the property, exploring all of the buildings, and having really great conversations about what life was like back in the late 1800s. The volunteers on site were very knowledgeable and were extremely friendly. No cost; just a donation if you feel. Definitely worth checking out with the family! We will be following the Historical Society to stay informed of events held at Heritage Village.

This is one of my must stops when traveling up north. The history, the beautiful water crashing on the shores. You never know what will be on the lake, from a little fishing boat, to a sail boat, to a tug, to a freight liner passing under the Mighty Mac. I recommend anyone heading up that way to stop. And let's not forget the fort this aloan is a must see.

Darrow's Family Restaurant, a beloved local establishment, offers a wide range of delicious scratch-made homestyle dishes and handmade pies. This award-winning restaurant has been recognized for its exceptional service and delectable desserts. Operating since 1957, this family-operated spot serves all-American breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.
This was our first time eating at this restaurant. When we arrived we could tell it was a great place since the parking lot was full. We waited max 10 minutes. We had Marge as our waitress she was AMAZING. My wife got the Whitefish basket and I got the Roast Beef. My wife had the side of Coleslaw.... This is the BEST coleslaw she had ever eaten. Roast Beef was so tender and broke apart easily. Big portions. We also got the banana cream to share.

Darrows Family Restaurant came highly recommended so husband and I decided to have dinner there. Located in Mackinaw City, easy drive. Arrived at 6:30 PM we were immediately seated, this place is a local favorite. Large menu, lots of good choices and lots of dessert choices too! Our waitress was very sweet and friendly, took our order and answered a few questions. Looking around, very nice place, lots of nautical decor, several rooms to sit, very clean. Our food arrived in a timely fashion and both our dinners were generous portions piping hot. Almost forgot to take a picture, too busy chowing down. Had chicken tenders, mashed potatoes and coleslaw , delicious! Husband had the blackened white fish, he loved it. We really enjoyed our dinner, reasonable prices for the amount of food you received!! Too full for dessert, they have a long list of pie, cake, cheesecake selections. Highly recommend this place!! Debbie/ Riverview, Michigan

Mouthwatering, wholesome, delicious dining experience. For our entree, we chose the Cajun Style fresh whitefish, which was lightly buttered, sprinkled with Darrow's spicy blend of cajun seasoning and topped with diced sweet red peppers. The fish was cooked just right with a flaky and delicate texture delivering a melt-in-your-mouth tenderness while the crusty seasoning provided warm, savory, and nicely balanced vibrant flavors. For our sides, we ordered green beans, mashed potato's, and cole slaw. The beef chili provided a savory appetizer. The pies looked incredibly delicious, but we were so full after eating the main course, we couldn't eat another bite. Lastly, the service was top notch. NOTE: This is a very popular place to dine, so don't be surprised if you encounter a line of people waiting to be seated. That said, the staff is so efficient that the wait in line didn't seem too long.

Darrow's Family Restaurant is a wonderful local eatery that is open seasonally (it closes mid- to late October; check website for exact dates). They offer a wide variety of options on their menu, but the fish is an absolute winner. HUGE portions...like gigantic...next visit my husband and I will split an entree (I believe there may be a "plate" charge for doing so, but not sure). We opted for the fish basket and it was delicious--their creamy coleslaw is a treat. Speaking of treats, leave room for pie! And arrive early if you want the best selection...lemon meringue was already sold out...dang! However, they offer plenty of options and I've posted pics of a few of them. They have a complete menu (breakfast, lunch, dinner), with prices, on their website. You can also see their hours, etc.,--check it out! So, we've been there, done that, and we'll definitely do it again! Highly recommend!

Great experience, will return! Friendly staff and clean atmosphere! Loved the Homemade Corned Hash, came with eggs, sausage gravy and biscuit or toast! Thank you Becca P for your kindness! Damian who cleared the tables was really working hard and was on top of things, just wanted to point that out and give him thanks for it! Hardly any wait time and I believe it’s because of him! Very busy place, food comes out fast!

Of all restaurants I have ever been to, this was by far the cleanest I have ever seen. It was spotless. I found out that they clean weekly as all restaurants should. There were not even fingerprints on windows doors or the dessert case. The food was wonderful. The pancakes came with a selection of homemade strawberry or blueberry syrup and thick maple syrup.

Stop at Darrows for lunch before going to Mackinaw island. Never been there before. Great menu. Plenty of good options. Dixie Saloon is a historic bi-level roadhouse that has been serving up hearty American cuisine since 1890. Located in the heart of Mackinaw City's downtown shopping district, it offers a menu featuring the best steaks, ribs, and burgers in the area. The saloon boasts the largest bar in Mackinaw City and hosts live entertainment on weekends as well as karaoke during the week.
We had a great time here. It is next to the ferry dock so you can see the boats, then they have marker writing everywhere in the building and the waiter even gave the kids markers to write everywhere. The food was really good and big portions.

How have we missed this? We've been coming to the UP for decades and never knew about this place! The food was amazing, they are open and serving late (by local standards) and the beer selection has something for everyone. Bonus points for live music!

Today’s food adventure: We hit up the Dixie Saloon in Mackinaw City, and let me tell you—this place isn’t just a restaurant, it’s a personality. Cold beer, delicious food, and a vibe that makes you want to grow a beard and ride a Harley, even if you can’t ride a bicycle. Our server? Absolutely amazing—friendly, upbeat, and not once did they give us the “why are you still here?” look. Trust me, that alone deserves a tip and a hug (metaphorically… unless hugs are on the menu too). As for the food: chef’s kiss. I had a burger with baked beans that made me consider writing poetry about it. Every bite was a tiny moment of happiness—like winning the lottery, but smaller and edible. If you ever find yourself in this neck of the woods, do yourself a favor and stop by the Dixie Saloon. Your taste buds will thank you, your stomach will applaud, and your soul might start line dancing. You will not regret it.

First we went there and we gave our name to hostes and three parties of two people the arrived after us sat before us 😑. Once we finally sat it took long time for the waiters to come to the table it was like 15 min. We ordered the food and again waited for long time to arrived . The food looked good but didn’t tested very good . I had cowboy burger and it was dry even though i asked for medium. Too dry !!!! For two people who got burger and fancy mac and cheese and two lemonade the food was over 70 dollars!!💵 When we finished our meal we waited another 20 min to get our bill.

My Husband and I drove up late this evening and this was the only place we found open past 10 pm. The sandwich we ordered was missing ingredients and was so incredibly dry. The food was not worth the price. Never going back here and highly recommend stopping elsewhere, gas station snacks are better than what we were given. “Eating sleep for dinner would have been a better choice.”

I’ve been to Mackinaw City dozens of times and somehow never stopped in here, today I did, and I am so happy I did ! I had amazing service, even being very busy, my server was very attentive and super friendly ! They had the Lions game on everywhere so you could watch no matter where you sat, which was awesome! It’s a very cool atmosphere inside, I’m not a drinker but just browsing their drink menu it appeared they make some really good adult beverages, they also have “mocktails” on their menu! I got their highly recommended Mac and Cheese ( it’s a white cheddar Mac, with pulled pork, topped with onion straws and drizzled with bbq sauce ) and I am so glad I did ! It was a huge portion, and was absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! If you love all things Mac n Cheese I highly recommend this !!

Had such a good time here! Grabbed a few drinks while watching the game, and the whole vibe was relaxed and welcoming. The staff were super friendly, and the fish and chips were honestly really good — crispy, fresh, and full of flavor. Definitely a great experience overall! 🍹🍽️✨

Arrived on Sunday around 4:30 weird vibe. Even with the Bears/Cowboys game on every TV the place was pretty dead, should have taken that for the warning it was and chosen another restaurant. Somehow even with empty tables everywhere and staff everywhere it was the slowest service in the history of the world. Got to see plenty of staff standing around though. Bartender seemed to be the only one working. If you want to waste your time, wait 30 minutes to be criminally overcharged for small portions of unseasoned frozen fries and canned hormel chili; be my guest. But if you value your time, money, taste buds, and back (Hightop saddle seats? So. Uncomfortable.) Please seek elsewhere.

The sign said "perfect breakfasts"... we were not disappointed! From the host, the waiter and the manager... great great great. The food? You would not believe how hard it is to get scrambled eggs cooked correctly! 3 of us eating not a single complaint! Highly recommended!
Carole B — Google review
Folks, you’re in Mackinaw City so everything is overpriced. The breakfasts are around $18-$20.00 per plate unless you get something “light” like a bagel and cream cheese. With that being said, we wanted a hot breakfast so we tried it out. The waiter, Andre, was excellent. He was polite and attentive. We ordered our 2 plates and was not disappointed. I can actually attest the scrambled eggs were “fluffy” as stated on the menu. They give you a generous portion of hash brown. My husband’s bacon strips were large and crispy. Now, the toast was like Texas toast and soft with butter. Loved them! I would recommend this place but know it’s expensive. I looked at other options and it’s not that much cheaper. Plenty of parking which was a necessity for us since we had an RV. We would go back.
Ashley — Google review
We stopped by The Lighthouse for breakfast since it was just a short walk from our hotel, and overall it was a cozy, welcoming spot. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the service was truly excellent — attentive and friendly from start to finish. The food itself was solid, though nothing particularly stood out. The French toast was tasty and comforting, but not extraordinary. The Lighthouse omelette was enjoyable mostly because of the flavorful fillings. On the downside, the toast was heavy on the butter, and the hash browns were quite greasy, which took away from the overall experience. We’d go again for the convenience and hospitality, but it didn’t necessarily feel like a step above your average local breakfast place. A good option if you’re nearby and want a low-key meal with great service.

The gentleman who sat us wasn't very welcoming and made sure that I read the details about the coupon given to me from our hotel before seating us. We were promptly greeted by our waitress, Dae. The menu is short and the options for the coupon were limited. Kiddo got fried eggs with toast, bacon and hasbrowns. I got an omlette with toast and hash browns. The hash browns were not crispy and appeared greasy. My omlette was delicious and the toast was awesome. Im not sure what kind of bread they use but it certainly wasn't something you would get at a chain store. Aside from the menu prices, short menu, and the hash browns, the food was great. The restaurant was clean and the service was overall good. I spent nearly $65 on 2 drinks and 2 plates.
Heather R — Google review
Very disappointed! Went there for a hot breakfast. Very overpriced for quality of food, plus they add a sustainability fee to your check. Waitress was rushing, but place not crowded. She brought cups of coffee not filled up. Basically she threw our food plates down roughly on the table, but we had each other's omelets because she didn't ask who ordered each kind. After exchanging our plates, the food was lukewarm at best. Bathroom was horrible. Toilet paper roll was not placed into the holder, just left on the back of the toilet. Paper towel dispenser battery was dead, so they left out a whole paper towel roll on the sink, which was getting wet from people dripping on it while trying to tear off a piece. Overall, bathroom is in need of a deep clean. Do not recommend.
Francesca T — Google review
This place was very expensive. $47 for two western Omelets coffee and a pop. I gave 4 stars because the Omelets were FANTASTIC! Hashbrowns nasty and bread has an odd taste to it.
Dede L — Google review
The tin ceiling does not inspire thoughts of a lighthouse but they have lots of pictures. We got here at the end of the season and probably close to winter closure. Restaurants in Mackinaw City are really overpriced. It's not unusual to spend 65 to 70 bucks on just breakfast. You're thinking it has to be special to be worth that much. It's not. It's just the price you pay for Mackinaw City. It's not world class. If you want to take in the sights you have to pay the ticket. Service was not outstanding. I had to do gyration to get the waiters attention to get a refill on coffee. I had an omelet and potatoes. The taste was fine. Smaller proportions of breakfast but adequate. You should probably eat here in the summer when the place is jumping.
Larry K — Google review
First service was sub par. Then we wanted to split the bill and were told we could not because of coupons we had. That was fine. We understood. Then when some of our party went to the restroom, and a couple walked outside, the manager accused the people who went outside of trying to walk out on the bill, twice. They were outside waiting for the rest of the party. Then when the bill was paid, the manager demanded a tip be added when cash was left at the table. Terrible experience. Do not recommend. I will never visit again.

Guests can also enjoy American cuisine and refreshing drinks at the Mukwa Bar and Grill. With over 400 slots, video poker, and progressive jackpots available, this hidden gem provides endless entertainment for visitors seeking an exciting getaway.
This place is a lot of fun! My mom has been coming here for years and always enjoys it—she even won a nice amount this trip. I walked away with $82 myself! Just a heads-up: there’s a bar that serves drinks, but I found out after spending $4 on sodas for us that there are free pop and coffee machines available. So save your money and take advantage of the free drinks!
Krystal L — Google review
Small, slot-machine-only gaming facility. It has a good range of newer and older slot machines, but not a good place to go in if you are sensitive to cigarette smoke. Technically, the facility is "no smoking" with a walled-off smoking section, but the whole building reeks of cigarette smoke, AND, the bathrooms can only be accessed in the smoking area. Makes me question the designers here. A second deduction is the handicapped availability from the parking lot. If you are wheelchair bound, you will need to swing wide to the car driveway, so it's not ideal. There is a bar and a dining area, but this wrecked because of the cigarette stench pervading the casino. Probably my last visit here, unless they can fix the smoking issue.

Nice little casino. It was great that they have a smoking room. Husband won $320.00, so it was worth going to.

We were at the casino on Monday night. I have to say the guy that was working the front door was absolutely amazing. I don’t know if they get credit for the reviews, but he definitely should or a raise. He was absolutely Fabulous.

We really like this smaller casino, has a little bar restaurant which has really good food. People (workers) here are always friendly. Every time we go up north we come here a few times every trip. Never won big or lost big but every time we have come here we get excellent play time and have fun. And to us, having fun and play time is more important than winning big.
Robert R — Google review
I am not a casino fan by nature; I can take them or leave them, but it's the food they serve that's the lure for me ... and Odawa doesn't disappoint. This is a smaller venue, so the dining area kind of reminds you of a little Cafe. Don't let size fool you; the food they serve is first rate. They have specials every day, but if I had to pick one, it would be Saturday. Saturday is Prime Rib day and it is worth it, believe me. If you have to wait to get seated, just watch all of the Prime Rib dinners coming out of the kitchen and you will know what to order. My wife likes their Pulled Pork sandwiches ... says they're top notch too. As I said, casinos don't thrill me all that much, but I'm willing to rate the food and this one's a winner.
Gary M — Google review
First of all, love that the majority of the casino was smoke free!! This is a small casino but they have a nice variety of slots. The downside for me was that the slots I wanted to play were out of service. So I played some that I never have before while hoping my fave was worked on. It wasn’t but a tech was working on other slots that were out of service too. We were there around 11am on a Monday. It was very clean, offered a beverage bar, a nice restaurant and clean restrooms. They did have a small smoking section behind glass that had a nice selection of slots for those who want to smoke. We will go again for sure!

Mystery Town, USA, also known as Mackinaw City in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, is a small and enigmatic town with a mysterious history dating back to the early 1900s. With only around 100 residents, it can be reached by ferry or air. The locals are known for their friendliness and fascination with the paranormal. At Mystery Town USA, visitors can embark on an intriguing exploration of world mysteries such as the Lost City of Atlantis and Area 51.
This is a fun and zany experience, that is worth it purely for the novelty. I've been to several of this purely for fun museums travelling and this one was quite fun. It is obviously absurd and just for fun. The gift shop is also interesting. Little kids will enjoy it, but remember you can bypass the black hole if you want.

In short it is a good time and totally worth it!! The owner was also very personable and helpful. He gave us some great suggestions on where else we should visit in the upper and lower peninsula of Michigan. His suggestions were spot on.

It was fun for me and my daughter. She just turned 14 yesterday. Loved it. Allot of laughs. Cool thing. I never knew half the stuff about Michigan and a couple of other places. It would be a little scary for little ones. It's like a mini haunted house in some parts.

A little pricey if you have multiple kids, BUT this place is SO worth it. If you have any youthful fascination in cryptids and myths this place is very fun and is not only enjoyable for kids (like my 2 year old) but rekindles the childlike love of mystery, right in Mackinaw. Plus, the giftshop is fun to just walk around with awesome decorations, and actually has cool stuff. Stop by and keep this place supported for my child can take her kids here one day. Done forget to count the spiders for a prize!

Nice marina. Got charged for 33' since my mast was unstepped on my 25' boat. The restrooms and showers were really nice and clean. Everything was nice. Location to down was great. Nice marina office and the staff allowed me to study some maps that helped me navigate the Macinaw straight. It was the smallest boat in the harbor. The ferry boats left big wakes about 20 times a day. Lol

Scalawags Whitefish & Chips is a seasonal, nautical-themed fish house in Mackinaw City, Michigan. It offers a variety of fresh whitefish, perch, and walleye sourced from the Great Lakes. The casual eatery serves up comfort food including sandwiches, soups, and fish baskets with choices like whitefish, perch or shrimp accompanied by fries and sauces.
Absolutely phenomenal food. Ordered chicken tenders and whitefish baskets. The fish and chicken 10/10, coleslaw 10/10, hush puppies 1000/10 the Tartar SAUCE 100000/10 fries are yummy too. Will come back and recommend to everybody. Service was great and fast too! Fresh crispy and delicious. We ate outside with our toddler in her stroller and it worked perfectly. Cozy spot

Crispy fresh fish with a very cute outdoor seating area. The perfect place to stop on a hot sunny day and sit under a tree enjoying a fish fry. Thin fries, crispy hush puppies and fresh fish. They keep the skin on the fish. We tried the walleye, perch and white fish. Freshly fried when you order. We got the baskets which come with fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and tartar sauce.
Chelsea M — Google review
Probably the best fish sandwich I've tried in Michigan or anywhere else. Well fried whitefish, really delicate and super tasty. I ordered the 3 fish to go and the portions are large. We are it on the beach at our resort. Perfect day!
Sathiyan K — Google review
Really nice local fish and chips spot serving exclusively great lakes fish. Walk in, walk up and order from the menu board on the wall. Reminded me of Long John Silver style process minus the chicken options. I had the walleye basket and my wife had the single piece white fish. It is fried fish and French fries, so nothing fancy. Our dinners were prepared and served within 10 minutes of ordering, with the restaurant 3/4 full, so very friendly, prompt service. Our dinners consisted of fried fish, French fries and two hushpuppies each, Cole slaw, plus a drink. The fries were good, the fish very tasty, the slaw is very nice and the hushpuppies, small, but good. Overall, a good experience.
Mark S — Google review
Not bad but nothing special. The sweet tea wasn’t sweet, my fish was a little dry and my daughters had a large section of bloodline making it inedible. Also I wish they would take a pressure washer to the outdoor seating area.
Doug S — Google review
I really didn't have very high hopes for a place named Scalawags. The name alone brought visions of a tourist trap with crappy over priced food. But asking for lunch recommendations while visiting the colonial fort, Scalawags kept coming up, so we decidedto give it a shot. Walking up, it was pretty much what I expected. At the front door, you are greeted by a crusty old fisherman, hewn from a log with a chainsaw. In the dinning room, vintage fishing and camping gear adorn the walls and ceiling, with old oars and paddles making up room deviders and tin bait buckets used as light fixtures. In all reality, this place is pretty simple. Orders are placed at the counter and then brought to your table when ready. Both fountain drinks and tea are self serve and unlimited. Whatever this place may or may not be, Scalawags doesn't pretend to be something it is not. THIS is a fish and chips place. You can order a fish basket or a fish sandwich and that's pretty much it (they DO offer a chicken sandwich, but I guess they have that for some Karen that wants to be difficult). What I'm not going to do is talk about the sides. We didn't come here because we heard someone say they had the best coleslaw in Michigan, or that they make their tartar sauce by hand fresh everyday (which they may do, i didn't ask). But, by God, their white fish is the best I've ever had. It's not greasy or overly fishy tasting. The filetts generously sized and done to perfection. They are served simply, in a boat, over fries, with a couple hush puppies, a small container of slaw and some tartar sauce. If you are in search of a fancy high brow dinner, with silver and china, go simmered else. THIS place is reserved for regular folks looking for a relaxed place with fantastic fish. Great job guys, keep up the good work.
Troy M — Google review
This little gem is tucked away so you need to look for it a bit. The sign is big but it's set back away from the sign. We're so glad we found it. The service was great and the food was so fresh. We had the white fish chowder and white fish with fries/hush puppies and fish tacos. Everything was hot and fresh! I can't think of anything they need to improve upon. Great job!

The Wacky Taxidermy and Miniatures Museum is a collection of bizarre and interesting taxidermy and miniature displays. It is perfect for kids who love excitement and the unknown, as well as adults who appreciate creative artwork. The museum has a wide variety of exhibits, including one-eyed flying purple people eaters, mermaids, and everything! The owners are friendly and clearly enjoy their work. This is an ideal tourist attraction for anyone visiting the area.
This place is an absolute gem! On top of being deeply creative and really funny in its own quirky way, I couldn't believe how educational it was! Other than the mounted deer heads and bear skin rugs that adorned my grandpa's hunting camp I hadn't given much thought to how much I've interacted with the art of taxidermy. The Wacky Taxidermy Museum is incredibly well priced and deeply enjoyable. My daughter and I really enjoyed searching for 10 hidden gnome-mice hidden throughout the exhibit. Strongly recommend!

What a great, unique, creative museum. I appreciate all the artistry and work they put into it. I can tell the owner has so much passion in all the work. I loved the gift shop too! It was completely everything I love to collect. My whole family came and loved it. Can’t wait to go back next year!

Meh, it was cheap so that made it worthwhile. $5/person. It’s definitely an oddity place, clearly they made Theo own creatures some of them & they are definitely obsessed with stuffing white mice: I wish there was more variety. If you need to get out of the heat and not shop.. or bored out of your skull this is the place.

I know this is not everyone's cup of tea but it's a very interesting place if you take the time to appreciate it. Don't rush through it or you'll miss the point. It's very cheap form of entertainment. If you stop and look at the detail you will realize the amount of time it must have taken to create these and you will appreciate it that much more. I'm at '80s '90s kid and the display representing that era was so cool. So many things to reminisce and remember. There are several different themes so I am sure you can find a few of interest.

Historical landmark
Mackinac Bridge, located in Mackinaw City, is a stunning engineering marvel that connects the Lower Peninsula to the Upper Peninsula. As the longest suspension bridge in the Americas, it spans 8,614 feet across the Straits of Mackinac. While toll collection during holidays may slow down traffic, the bridge's maintenance and beauty are commendable. Crossing this iconic bridge offers breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding area.
Did not love going over the bridge. It is super impressive though. Truly a modern marvel. Unreal it was built in the 50’s.

The Mackinac Bridge is absolutely stunning, at nearly 5 miles long, it’s one of the most impressive suspension bridges in the world and a true engineering marvel. Driving across gives you breathtaking views of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron. 20 mph speed limit in a big rig. $25 fee for 5 axle truck and trailer (no ez-pass accepted). This is a very old and very cool bridge. I really enjoyed the view. Remember to abide by the ridiculous 20 mph, there's a state trooper posted midway up there. It's hard to drive 20!

The Mackinac Bridge is a phenomenal piece of Michigan's history! I have been visiting since I was a baby. (ie, Long time ago!) My wife and I love it! we've seen it from pretty much every vantage point, on it, over it, under it and around it. The ride over it's 5 mile span is super awesome with great views of the lakes, boats & Mackinaw Island. the grates that you can see through to the lake below are very cool too. The only vantage point I have not seen it from yet, would be my dream to go up in one of the towers and take in the view from the top! If you've never seen it or crossed over it, you're missing out. For the best information about the construction and overall history of the Mighty Mac, there is a museum with a video and artifacts from the construction workers, located in Mackinaw City, upstairs from a pizza joint, it's free to enter and explore. Bonus:Fresh fudge line Central Ave, the main street in Mackinaw City.

Mackinac bridge Swore I made a review years ago. Anyway, great bridge. No issues. No walking allowed except for the annual Labor Day walk. Finally did the Labor Day walk. Took us 1hr walk. Had cool time walking the bridge for first time. Next year? Maybe. If you plan to do the walk, read up on the info. Some people walked the whole bridge and found out they were stuck on the north side until 12pm. Plan accordingly. Highly recommended

My favorite bridge! It's so beautiful and even more beautiful at night. I Always enjoy stopping here on the way to wisconsin. At times it's very busy but nothing beats going over this beautiful bridge and putting on the radio listing to the channel on how it was maid.

The bridge is so beautiful. Quite a few people cautioned us about the wind while driving over the bridge and I was a little nervous. We drove over the bridge with our travel trailer on a beautiful day with no issues. We were taken back by the tropical colors of the water. This is worth the $4 toll to experience this gorgeous view.
Jaimie C — Google review
The Mackinac bridge is five miles long and cost $4.00 each way to cross the bridge. The speed limit is 45 MPH nice bridge 🌊🌊🌊

Phenomenal family show! Just attended their Friday night show 6/27/25. See energetic fun lumberjacks compete against each other for your entertainment! They get the whole crowd excited! Happens rain or shine. Concessions, snacks, drinks and merchandise to buy too! The show is about 1 hr 15 mins but it feels faster as it's so good. Would highly recommend it to all families when you're in the area. They said it's their 18th year in the business!

This show was way better than we were expecting. It was so cool to see the lumberjack feats, and the show has great humor as well. The staff, including the owner, lumberjacks and concessions, were all friendly and engaging. Definitely a great family event but also don’t need kids to enjoy it!!!

The Lumberjack show didn't disappoint. Our kids LOVED it and it was very interactive. They got the crowd going, learned about the sport and it was a lot of fun. Well worth it if you're in the Mackinac area.

So much fun! I loved everything about our experience. The show was entertaining, the location was so clean and the staff was so friendly. The show itself was entertaining and kind of silly with cheesy jokes, but also fun to watch because.... lumberjacks. Two thumbs way up! 👍 I would go back, it's a fun inexpensive thing to do.

This delightful shop offers an impressive array of 26 fudge flavors, all crafted daily with natural ingredients. The moment you step inside, the rich aroma of freshly made peanut butter fudge envelops you, making it impossible to resist sampling their delectable treats. From double chocolate and German chocolate to sea salt caramel chocolate, each bite is a heavenly experience that leaves you craving more.
The lady at the reception was exceptionally kind. I sampled several of their fudges, and in my opinion, the Double Chocolate Espresso Fudge is the best. I purchased six boxes to share with friends and family!

Best fudge all around in Mackinaw City!! It's the whole experience! There are samples of fudge, taffy and ice cream and you can always watch the fudge being made, it reminds me of traveling with my grandparents. The staff was so kind and helped with all of our questions and sample requests! Which were a lot with seven people! They were very kind to our children and it made for a very nice experience on our trip.
Amanda G — Google review
On June 12th, my birthday, I visited Joann's Fudge because I know they make really delicious and creamy fudge. The friendly employee at the counter gave me some samples of different fudge flavors; cappuccino, chocolate mint. German chocolate, orange truffle, and plain chocolate. There were many flavors to choose from. I got two small pieces that were placed in a cute box. Fudge has really gone up in price but it makes a great occasional treat. In addition to fudge there is plenty of ice cream here and an assortment of different chocolates too. Joann's Fudge is worth a visit if you like sugary treats.

I always make it a point if I needed fudge to come to your shop. Everyone is so nice and very helpful. I could do fudge anyway I like. Actually Everyone in your store are very friendly and helpful. I send Everyone to your store. Keep up the great job plus your fudge is delicious, lots of varieties. Thank you Mary

I was under the gun trying to get a Father's Day package to my Dad on time. Donna knocked it out of the park, with an honorable mention to Haley. Donna is the kind of employee that doesn't look for reasons NOT to have to do the work, a trait I see often from so many people in business these days. Nope, she is just the opposite, she's a "solutions" minded individual. A true go-getter with a "can-do" attitude. My Dad got his fudge in one day from Mackinac Island, 100's of miles away! I'm impressed. It's not always about the courier only, it takes a sense of urgency from the source as well, and they got it right. Bravo!

Parasailing ride operator
Mackinaw Parasailing & Adventure in Mackinaw City, MI offers an exhilarating experience for all ages. With the option to combine parasailing and Jet Boat Adventures, it's a top choice for family fun. The customized boat ensures a safe and dry launch and landing, while 'The Wild One' can accommodate up to 20 people for jet boat rides. Visitors praise the knowledgeable and upbeat captains who ensure a smooth ride and capture memorable moments with photo packages.
We decided to do this for our 1 year wedding anniversary. First time for both of us. We had Captains Jake and Joe and they really seemed to enjoy what they do! They were knowledgeable and upbeat, which made the ride great too. Watching them go through the motions of getting the parachute set up, securing passengers, operating the boat and taking photos for the photo packages we bought, while having an awesome attitude, says everything about their skill levels. The ride was peaceful when up in the air. We were sailing for approximately 10-12 minutes. Registering was seamless, signing the waivers and getting setup in the harnesses and life jackets were easy. We purchased a digital photo package and were provided with 10+ photos to download for $35. They have other photo/video options as well as merch. Overall a great experience! If you haven't tried this, now is your sign to check off something on your bucket list. Great job Jake and Joe. You guys are cool!

I, along with multiple of my friends have parasailed with the Mackinaw Parasailing Company twice. One time out of the Mackinaw City location, and one time out of the St. Ignace location. Both times everyone had a great time. Employees are very helpful and make sure everyone is safe and has a wonderful adventure! People can both fly in the parasail and ride along on the boat if they do not wish to fly. Highly recommend any of their locations!
Alaina A — Google review
The parasailing experience alone deserves a 5 star rating. The crew were friendly and guided us through a great experience. I am giving less stars for the add-on service. We prepaid for a photo package as well ($40). However, the photos were taken by the crew from the boat using regular lens, while we were far away during the sail. All photos were terrible. For anyone interested in buying photo package, don't pre-pay. You can pay after seeing the pictures.

Such an amazing time! It was a great experience with a really fun crew and group of fellow fliers. The receptionist was super friendly and let us choose which pic we wanted printed. It was just overall a really wonderful experience, especially for our first time. They all even wished me a happy birthday. Couldn’t have picked a better parasailing company to fly with!

The Mackinac Bridge view point at Straits State Park in Michigan's Upper Peninsula offers stunning views of the famous bridge. The park is just a short drive from Mackinaw City, and the Mackinac Bridge Overlook hike provides great vantage points. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery, with opportunities for beach activities and ample space to relax and take in the views. It's a popular spot for capturing sunset shots and experiencing the beauty of both the bridge and the surrounding lakes.
A must stop if we are heading towards upper peninsula of Michigan —The impressive architecture and peaceful atmosphere make it perfect for a leisurely walk or scenic drive. A must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy nature
Revanth C — Google review
The area was currently under construction and I had to use the area in front of the old lighthouse to access the beach. First time here, stopped by in May. Was cool, had a nice breeze and the view of the Mackinac Bridge and the old lighthouse were pretty nice, however, be prepared for the complete bombardment of bugs absolutely everywhere. I had to shake my pockets out of my hoodie before entering my car afterwards and unfortunately made the mistake of trying to brush them off of the front, to which these pests instantly exploded and stained my hoodie. So, overall, the views are nice…….but!
Jeremy G — Google review
Super easy entrance and departure parking area to get down to the water under the bridge before crossing over it. Great place to watch the sunset on the water. Very rocky beach. Don’t expect to walk around barefoot comfortably. Gets a lot of visitors. Lots of birds bed down on the grasses in the park area. Oh and large parking lot was helpful with our large trailer in tow. Getting off the exit right before crossing the bridge and getting right back on just as easily makes it a no brained stop for any future trips as well.

The restaurant also houses the free Mackinaw Bridge Museum, which features displays about the history of the iconic bridge. Although the building suffered a fire in 2005, it was reopened in 2007 and continues to attract visitors with its inviting ambiance and reasonable prices.
The pizza here was legit amazing — super fluffy and just hit the spot. Loved that you can pick your own toppings too, and they’ve got some solid veggie options 👌🌱 The vibe inside is really nice, chill and cozy. Only thing is the wait was kind of long, but once the food came out… totally worth it. Also, those cheese breadsticks? Fire 🔥 Definitely coming back for more.
Pavan — Google review
I really enjoyed this place. We were greeted at the door but not in a pushy way. When entering the atmosphere was great, there was memorabilia all over the ceiling, some really cool light shades over the booths. There was a large bar area to the left and the kitchen was behind the bar at the back. After choosing what we wanted, we ordered at the bar. Server was very friendly. While waiting for our food I wondered to the rear of the restaurant where they had some arcade machines, some retro as well! I then had a look at the museum upstairs as well. It is very well done. Lots of memorabilia, newspaper cuttings, a few films playing and a couple of bridge models. We enjoyed the food, I had a cheese pizza and my wife had the spaghetti.
Daniel M — Google review
Absolute 5 star. People are nice and welcoming. I would highly recommend the plain chicken wings. They have crispy skin and juicy meat. Definitely one of the best wings I’ve ever had in my life here in the states. For photographers and history enthusiasts, the restaurant itself is a good place to explore. It brings me back to the good old days when workers were still endeavoring to build the Mackinac bridge.
Wuxi S — Google review
The pizza here is really good. Hard to describe the taste and texture though. It was not overly filling and didnt cause me to feel bloated like some pizza brands do. Perhaps it was because the pizza is not overly saucy. I only give the place a four because it was a little dated, which I know is the theme of such a place but I think having comfy booths instead of benches that would be great and maybe a renovated bathroom or change in color... something, anything. I do like places with glasses with their name on it though. I will be back some time.
Grant F — Google review
The cauliflower crust is good. Service was ok. Order at the counter, then pick your seat, then they call out your number (and everyone else's number) while you're there on a loud microphone. They have Styrofoam plates and plastic silverware. Tiny cups for water. Everything is self-serve. It feels like an old nineties skate rink.
Cathy P — Google review
This was my favorite late (ish) night restaurant in Mackinaw City. They have a bar, and a pretty wide range of food options. I loved the turkey sub, but also liked that they cooked slices fresh to order so I could customize my toppings for a slice of pizza (rather than needing to pick from what’s available). For kids, they have an arcade. For history buffs, they have a neat museum showing the history of building the Mackinaw Bridge (no photos of the food or restaurant, but here’s a few from the bridge museum)
Carolyn S — Google review
Everything here is self service. Ordering, getting your own drinks and refills. We ordered the Mama Mia Deluxe Medium and it was fantastic. The crust around the edges were crisp and there was no “flop”. The best pizza I’ve had in a while. Thanks.

Nestled just west of the iconic Mackinac Bridge, Bridge View Park is a serene lakeside retreat that beckons travelers with its stunning vistas. This charming park features well-maintained walking paths, inviting benches for relaxation, and convenient restroom facilities. As you stroll through the area, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the Straits of Mackinac and the majestic bridge itself—perfect for capturing those unforgettable sunset moments.
This is a nice little park with a good view of the bridge. It's also a great spot to watch the sunset! The beach is rocky, but you can get into the lake from here. It's nice and clear. No one was swimming when we were there (not sure if this is a good swim spot??), but there were a few kids throwing rocks in the lake. They were really enjoying themselves! The seagulls were a little aggressive, and didn't have any fear of humans at all. Please don't feed the seagulls! There are a few benches, if you want to sit and just admire the lake, the bridge, or the sunset. I don't think you could see the sunrise as well from this spot, but it might be worth a try? The parking lot is pretty big, and there weren't many people there when we were there, so I don't think parking would be an issue very often. It's a nice park! Check it out some evening!

Bridge View Park is an absolute gem for anyone visiting the area or just looking for a peaceful, well-maintained place to unwind. The biggest highlight is, of course, the breathtaking views of the Mackinac Bridge—you can capture incredible photos from several vantage points across the park. Whether you’re into photography, sightseeing, or simply relaxing with a view, this place delivers. The restrooms were impressively clean and clearly well-maintained, which made our visit even more comfortable. It's something you don’t always find in public parks, and it definitely stood out here. What I really appreciated was how the park blends natural beauty with local history. There are historic buildings and informative markers throughout the area that guide you through the significance of the Straits region. It’s like a walking tour through time—engaging, educational, and perfect for families or curious travelers. There are also plenty of rest areas with benches and shaded spots, so you can relax, picnic, or just sit and watch the freighters pass through. Everything feels thoughtfully laid out and accessible for all ages.

Parked here for the 2025 Labor Day Mackinac Bridge Walk. Great close parking for handicapped, and closer than any place else for non-handicapped. No fee. Beautiful weather, and almost everyone was wonderful. Heard 33,000 people participated in the bridge walk this year. I would highly recommend it! I took my rollator and was able to get from St Ignace to the 1st pillar and back (approximately 2 miles, in each direction). The bridge really sways, even in calm weather, so if you have problems with motion, you may want to take your medication before you go. Fun was had by all!

Del Sol, located on Huron Avenue in Mackinaw City, is a must-visit for unique souvenirs. The store specializes in color-changing clothing and accessories like jewelry, hats, and sunglasses that transform when exposed to sunlight. Founded by Robert Pedersen and Steve Schone in 1994, the store offers a wide range of products from nail polish to clothing and toys. Visitors praise the friendly staff, particularly mentioning Zemi's helpfulness and knowledge about the color-changing items.
Nate was so helpful yesterday! He was more than knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. His education on how the color-changing crystals work, was fascinating :-) We LOVE DelSol, and this is definitely a store you don't want to miss next time you're in Mackinaw City. We thank him and DelSol for a great shopping experience. I will definitely be back next time we are in town, and would recommend them to anyone. Pro Tip: Always machine wash your clothing from here on cold, inside out, and with no bleach or other harsh chemicals. Your items will stay looking new for many years so you can keep enjoying them. Also: this store highly respects our Military and Veterans, and was the ONLY store in Mackinaw City to offer a Military Discount. They support our troops, and I will always support them. Other stores when we asked, replied "why would we have a military discount?" Thanks for your great business and 5-star customer service Nate!

Such an awesome store with tons of neat items! Read some reviews online and knew I had to check out the store while we were in town visiting. Jessica, the associate who helped us was beyond helpful in showing an explaining everything we were looking at. They had a sale on the color changing nail polish buy 3 get 1 which was great. We also got a couple shirts for ourselves as well as a couple birthday gifts that I think will be a huge hit. Can't recommend this store enough, it's definitely worth checking out and the people who were working made it a great shopping experience!

This is a neat place that sells unique color changing shirts, bags, and hats. The person working the store wasnt rude, but the signs all over the store were. They had so many rules and were one sign away from banning children from the store. I'm an adult and didn't feel comfortable.

Shopping here was way more than a five-star experience. Nearly everything in the store changes color in the sun, and they have several light stations throughout the store where you can see the effect within seconds. This was a huge delight for my five year old son. My wife and I purchased sunglasses and she bought several bottles of nail polish. So far we love the products, but the shopping experience itself is why I am writing this review. Nathan and Jessica went out of their way to make us feel valued and appreciated, exuding kindness and patience while we made our purchasing decisions. Though they were busy, they took time to show my son how the lights worked and he was enthralled, testing nearly every t-shirt he could reach. We walked in without expectations and came back several times during our vacation. We can't wait to go back.

Father Marquette National Memorial is a serene and lush green space that commemorates the 17th-century French explorer. Situated on a rise overlooking the Straits of Mackinac, it offers an interpretive trail showcasing the meeting of French and Native American cultures in the North American wilderness. The memorial features history stations, a monument, and beautiful hiking trails through verdant woods, providing unobstructed views of the iconic Mackinac Bridge.
Wonderful natural space dedicated to the history of Father Marquette and his missions and the Native people of the area. Free with a State Park pass. Lots of history stations, the monument, gorgeous hiking trails through the lush green woods, and beautiful, up high, alternate views of the bridge. Definitely worth a visit. Restrooms on site, most if not all is accessible by wheelchair. Be prepared to walk a bit. Very peaceful and serene.
Thomas — Google review
As of July 6, 2024 the park has its entrance blocked off for repairs to the memorial. However, at the Straights State Park ranger station they informed me that it was ok to enter. It is about a quarter of a mile walk to the site. A low frills place even before the museum burned down the memorial could use major renovation, but it is in a wonderful location and the interpretative trial intersects with some great views of the straits and bridge. Likely not worth a trip in itself but if you are in the St. Ignace area it’s nice place to pay respects to one of Michigan’s founders.
Danny T — Google review
Admission here is included with Straits (or any other) State Park though, to be completely honest, we saw one other vehicle in the lot when we pulled up, and they were gone by the time we left about 30 minutes later. There's a couple different places where you can get a pretty decent, unobstructed view of Mighty Mac. We followed what appeared to be a trail at the southern end, but it kind of opened up into a field which didn't entirely feel like it was part of the park, so we turned back around. In hindsight, it looks like you could walk all the way down to Bridge View Park, though you'd have to cross at least one intersection and walk along the road for a short distance. The memorial to Fr. Marquette was also quite informative, discussing the really early history of French exploration in the area, including on down the Mississippi.
Ryan M — Google review
This is a nice little park with hiking. There are some historical signs to read in a little pavilion. There is a scenic overlook of the bridge. There are restrooms. There is a cool map where you can see the journeys of Father Marquette.
Jessica F — Google review
This park seemed unappreciated. We saw no other cars in the parking lot when we came and left. Walking about 15 or less you get to some great views of the Mackinaw bridge thru the trees.

Learn a little about history. French explorer. He mapped the Mississippi River. Beautiful park, nestled in the nature. Easy trail loop with information signs about native plants, scenic look out. The memorial monument talks about the trip. Benches, picnic tables. A must stop.

Nice small National Park area to learn about Father Marquette and his explorations in the late 1600s. Took us about 1 hr to get through the informational walking trail and to see the memorial. A good place for a quick stop while traveling through. The National Passport book stamp is a short drive to the campsite office while buildings are closed for COVID. Views of the Mackinac bridge at an overlook on the walking trail.

Gary R Williams Memorial Park, located just north of Mackinaw City, is a compact and peaceful lakefront park offering scenic views of the iconic Mackinac Bridge and Lake Huron. Developed in cooperation with the Michigan Department of Transportation, this landscaped picnicking park features picnic tables, benches, a telescope, interpretive signs, and a clean beach area. It's an ideal spot for families to relax and take photos while enjoying the natural beauty away from the commercialized areas.
Beautiful Beach View of the Mackinaw Bridge. If you look just across the water, you can see Mackinaw Island in the distance. This waterfall freezes every year and portrays beautiful blues and greens that illuminate through the ice and the unique form it takes on when frozen in time.

It's a pretty nice beach. Very Rocky. And there's lots of goose droppings on the grass. It's nice that you can see the Mackinac Bridge in the background.

We were at Gary R Williams Memorial Park on the 4th of July. This is a great vantage point because we were able to see the Mackinaw City fireworks, the Mackinac Island fireworks, and the St. Ignace fireworks. We sat on the beach and enjoyed the evening. It was very busy but it was not crowded.

The perfect place to stop and take numerous photos and videos of the great 'Mighty Mac!' It has an easy, nice, short walkway to the shoreline and the area is super clean.

Lovely area to see a great view of the bridge and the lake! Would recommend visiting this spot. It’s free to park and not far to get to the waters edge. Stop by for a nice view!!

Still one of the most peaceful, quaint little known about parks in Mackinaw City. The city has become so commercialized and lost its small town appeal somewhere in the last 20 years but this park holds onto what’s left of it. Great views of the Mighty Mac and the island. Quiet because your are far enough from the bridge not to hear the trucks and are located off a side street. Limited parking. Benches, picnic tables, Beach, flowers, water and waves. Just sit down take a breath and enjoy the views.

Wonderful marina! We have stayed twice and loved it. The parking lot is spacious with ample parking. Clean restrooms and laundry area with public restrooms available as well. Friendly and present staff. Well protected with very little waves and the loading area has three nice lanes with two nice docks. Everything is well maintained and clean.

Marina is well protected from ferry wakes. Code key access restrooms were well kept. Dock hands were helpful. Docks are very well maintained. Only tricky issue was getting into the protected area due to all the ferry wakes. Would definitely stay again though. @ViatoriCruising

Mackinaw City / Mackinac Island KOA Journey is a fantastic base for exploring the stunning Mackinac Island in Michigan. The campground offers free shuttles to island ferries and discounted tickets, making it convenient for guests. Additionally, there are various accommodation options available, from large luxury cabins to rustic ones.
We’re new to KOA campgrounds, but this location truly set the bar high. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and responsive—everything from check-in to moving sites was handled smoothly and professionally. We really appreciated the text updates about campground happenings, and the shuttle to the ferry was super convenient and hassle-free. The laundry facilities were clean and easy to use, and the pool was a hit with our kids—perfect for swimming and burning off energy. Highly recommend this KOA for anyone visiting the area. A great experience from start to finish!

We came here for our first family trip and absolutely loved it! We will definitely be planning our trip here again for next summer. The campground is right next to Mackinaw City. The cabins are not too pricey either. We had the 4 person cabin with no bathrooms. The cabin was clean when we arrived and cozy for the stay. The bathrooms and showers are cleaned daily and kept up with well. We didn't use the pool but it looked very clean. They have a nice park with a cozy area to just hang out. The staff were friendly and very welcoming. 10/10 recommend.

Nice campground! Smooth and easy check-in, professional staff. Friendly and quick service when requesting firewood. Text communication was helpful. The site was very clean and ready for each new camper! Conveniently located for Dark Sky park, Mackinaw city and the island! Would stay again!

Car camp sites are small and not very private at all. Friendly staff and Bathrooms extremely clean with lots of mirror space. Showers were hot but the shower head was just a tube spraying water, those could definitely be updated. Lots of great destinations nearby. Delivery firewood, electric hookup and water spigot were very convenient

My first KOA in many years. Great crew running the place. Very clean. They have firewood delivered amongst other things to your campsite. Trash service on the morning. Also the local ferry service to the island will stop by on request, very convenient! Only issue was we were under the only oak tree in the entire complex in late September and the squirrels were chomping on the acorns and dropping them and the debris on the trailer roof, especially at night! Sounded like hail! So avoid Spot 49 during this time!

Nice pull-through full hook-up sites with decent spacing. Friendly staff and good facilities. Got reduced-price ferry tickets to Mackinac Island and free shuttle to the ferry dock. Close to downtown Mackinaw City. Great wifi. Had a reservation for 3 days but decided to cut it short by a day and the owner made the change with no penalty. Thanks! Would definitely recommend this campground for access to the city and island!

Historic Mill Creek Discovery Park is a seasonal adventure and history park that offers various activities for people of all ages, such as sawmill demonstrations, a climbing wall, and a zip line. Additionally, the park has educational demonstrations on how the old mill used to operate and provides walking trails with informative signs throughout. The park also offers an adventure tour which includes a rope bridge and zipline.
Beautiful park. It is off season so only vault toilet and the trails are open. Because if was off season I had the whole park to myself! The gates are closed so you have to park at bottom and walk up. The trails had plenty of info graphics, benches, overlooks of the creek, winding paths and sounds of nature! There is a small playground and of course you can see the exterior of the mill. I plan to come back again when the fall colors change.
Elisabeth B — Google review
Fantastic experience!! Mitch was very informative and answered everyone's questions with great explanations. Would love to come back again. The only down fall was the cable bridge was down due to fallen limbs, wasnt a deal breaker, but hopefully they're able to get the branches cleared this year yet! Great Job everyone!

Mill Creek was wonderful — it brought back the nostalgia of my childhood and was a great experience for the kids! We saw the mill demonstration, which the kids thought was so cool, and explored the Discovery Tower. It was a bit high for me, but the view of Mackinac Island and the bridge was totally worth it. The kids also loved the little playground and even got to learn about — and hold — a pregnant snake!
Morgan P — Google review
Great historical site of an early mill! The park interpreters do a fantastic job explaining how the mill was run. Lots of trails to hike also! Viewing deck/tower
Billie R — Google review
Well worth the $11 ticket! There's multiple hiking trails with lots to learn about the land along the way. Beautiful sights and sounds. My dog and I took the longest loop and had it all to ourselves- and the sounds of a wood pecker! I had to walk through the gift shop with blinders on, because there were so many cool and unique things to purchase. I definitely plan on going back one day!
Jamie M — Google review
Every bit of this visit was amazing! There's so much to learn in such a dun way! The playground is fun, but most importantly, the staff present educational information in such a great way! Everyone was beyond polite and helpful.
AMANDA B — Google review
This was a VERY enjoyable place to visit. The plank walk, zip line, and climbing wall were all very fun, and not too intimidating. The trails were also very doable, and just far enough off the main path. The saw mill demo was very cool. All of the historical facts/lessons, as well as nature facts, were all very interesting. Highly recommend.
E D — Google review
We found ourselves in a similar boat as some other recent reviews. This is the first year they did not have a rock wall or zip line, so some of the long standing marketing materials (posts on Google and social media) were outdated. We were a little bummed, but we would have come anyway, so for us, not a huge deal. We still had a great time watching the demonstrations, touring the old buildings, and climbing to the top of the watch tower. While we were there, they had a ranger at the top of the tower sharing the history of the area and allowing us to look through a telescope. We got a really clear view of Mackinac Island. They had lots of nice nature trails for kids to run around on and a small park for children of all ages.

Mackinac Island Winery is a popular destination offering a variety of regional wines and beers for visitors to sample in their tasting room. Customers appreciate the excellent customer service and well-organized interior, making it a must-visit spot for wine and beer enthusiasts.
I got engaged on my trip to Mackinac Island and my finance and I wanted a nice bottle to purchase and open on the wedding day. We stopped in here, and the lady who helped us was the sweetest. When she heard about the engagement she put together a little gift secretly for us just out of the kindness of her heart and gave it to us just before we left. Two wine glasses, and a cream wine that she recommended I try, and I wasn’t disappointed when she gave me a sample! I wish I got her name to give her a shoutout, but just know if you happen to come across the lady who used to work in healthcare, you are extremely lucky. She was so sweet and truly made our day and trip so special.

This is a great winery! Service was excellent, and for $16.95, you can have a tasting and take home a glass. Mice selection of dry, sweet, and dessert wines. We enjoy everything and the experience. There are plenty of bottles to buy as well.

I walked into Mackinaw Island brewhouse after 11:30am on a weekday and no one was in there (customers or employees). I made my way to the back and walked south to find bartender Cheryl and a wonderful tasting bar that was in the winery section. I enjoyed a 4 sample beer flight that surprisingly came with a souvenir pints glass. I also indulged in 2 full pours. All the businesses are connected including Nonna Lisa’s, build a bear and the candy store. In fact, the restrooms for the winery are in the candy store. Fast friendly service, great craft beer selection with many options for take home craft beer cans. Competitive prices. You also get $10 of the purchase of 4 bottles of wine. I’ve wanted to stop by this place several times while in Mackinaw City and am glad I finally did. I would recommend and return.

We had a great experience beer tasting while the teenagers playing games and air hockey in the same building. (Walking distance to The best clean Motel, The Rainbow motel) Our server nicknamed Ice was awesome, entertaining and informal. It was the best beer tasting experience I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come back!

This is a neat place, but really expensive! Two glasses of wine and a 16 oz Mexican lager was $29.45. I was charged for a beer that was not on the menu, I was told all beers are the same price $9.00 + 3.5% sustainability fee + tax, same fees on the wine. I walked down the hall to the Mackinaw Island Brewhouse and they said that's not correct, it should be $8.00 including the fee. The Kicker is that there are no bathrooms in the winery, you have to walk next door through the Nonna Lisa's Italian Restaurant. They staff there gave me a hard time, they told me to go down the hall to the candy store!! Unreal! A brewery, a winery, and a restaurant share two individual bathrooms, two toilets total! Total BS, and probably illegal!!

Stopped in to just buy a few wines to try. EXCELLENT customer service. If I could give a 100 star rating, I would. This is the place to go if you need any type of wine or beer. Plenty to choose from, and some even have samples! Very well organized, awsome interior. Stephanie was very knowledgeable, friendly, and extremely helpful. You need to check this place out! So glad we stopped at this winery shop. We will definitely be back when we are in the area again!!!!!!! Wish we had room in our to buy a full case. They even have discounts if you buy a certain amount. Cannot express this enough...don't even question it, trust me. You NEED to go!!!!

Update! The owner reached out and made it right. She is very dedicated to upping the service level. We were refunded, and offered another chance to go. After talking to her i would give it abother go, she seems dedicated to the service quality. The lady working was terrible, took the fun out of it, scolded my kids before we paid ( they were just standing there) told them to act like zombie turtles, gave them gloves so the mirrors don't get prints, my son got bumped into thier shelves and it tilted , she had a bad attitude and asked/told my husband to fix it bc she wasn't " a handy man" the kids found the exit in 30 sec. No wonder no line even on the 5th of july. Over priced. And ftr why work at a kids attraction if you clearly don't like kids?

This gallery displays art from 35 local artisans. And it has a pretty good selection of milieu. Worth a visit. Most art is under $100. Some as much as $500ish.

Beautiful gallery! Nice variety, lots of options to choose from at varying prices and a GREAT staff who are happy to share information about the art and artists they represent.

A unique and wonderful collection of work from the artists of Northern Michigan, conveniently located in Mackinaw City. Paintings, photographs, carvings, stained glass, books and more. A great place top pick up one of a kind gifts with that Northern Michigan charm while you're headed for the Mackinaw Island
