In the charming town of Glen Arbor, Cherry Republic is a must-visit destination for cherry enthusiasts. This delightful spot offers an array of cherry-inspired treats, from homemade cherry ice cream to chocolate-covered cherries and cherry salsa. The Grand Cafe at Cherry Republic serves up delectable dishes such as cherry chicken salad and cherry pulled pork BBQ. Additionally, visitors can indulge in hand-dipped soft-serve ice cream or enjoy a quick snack at the onsite cafe.
Cherry Republic in Glen Arbor is an absolute must-visit if you’re anywhere near the Sleeping Bear Dunes. The entire experience feels uniquely Michigan, from the cheerful cherry-themed grounds to the incredible variety of cherry products—think chocolate-covered cherries, cherry salsa, cherry barbecue sauce, and so much more. Sampling in the store is such a delight; we couldn’t resist picking up cherry jam and preserves. Their cherry chicken salad is outstanding, and the pulled pork sandwich with cherry BBQ sauce is deliciously memorable. The restaurant’s atmosphere is welcoming, with friendly staff who are always happy to help and great outdoor seating—even your dog is welcome. Don’t miss the wine or cherry soda tastings for a fun twist. Cherry Republic is so much more than a store; it’s a true cherry lover’s paradise and a highlight of visiting Glen Arbor. Can’t wait to return!

This place is often open when other restaurants in Glen Arbor are closed which is what brought us here today. The outdoor seating area is pleasant. Food leaves a lot to be desired and service is lacking. We had veggie burgers which lacked flavor and were insanely expensive for what they were. Fries are made in peanut oil so we had to skip those due to a food allergy. Decent place for tourists - but wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for good food.
Lisa Z — Google review
Visited the restaurant, the shop and ice cream/pie shops. It was worth the 25 minute wait at the restaurant. Nice environment. Food was good portions and tasted great. Staff was friendly and quick with service and food. Since this is the center of the cherry world had to get cherry pie. Also very good.
Daniel C — Google review
This was a really unique place that has cherry everything. The signs are funny too and the cherry soft serve was amazing. Loved the fries also and my burger. A lot the food and drinks were fantastic. Friendly and welcoming place.
Sarah H — Google review
Food was on point. The cherry cider was great. My friend had the cherry chicken salad on cherry bread instead of the croissant. The bread was dry and fell apart, resorted to just eating it with a fork. They may want to grill or toast it. Over all great experience and can't wait to go back.
Kristen G — Google review
We love getting cherry bbq sauce and chocolate covered cherries whenever we visit. You can taste test all the different things that they have. Delicious for sure.
Milton A — Google review
The experience at Cherry Republic was a 3 at best. mediocre service, decent (at best) food quality. Was disappointed to see only cherry themed stuff on the menu. Maybe I'm a bit dense, but they didn't have just plain fries, they have cherry fries. They don't have plain coke, they have cherry coke. super annoying and I should have left after seeing the menu but I stayed to donate money to the local economy. server looked 14 (not his fault) but he knew nothing about beer so couldn't answer any questions about it. there was like 20-30 minutes where we just didn't see any servers. When he came by the table, we asked how much longer for the food and it was just a shoulder shrug type of response. I'd honestly give this restaurant a 2 rating but this strangely enough wasn't the low light of the trip... so I settled on 3. The burger I ordered was to have a fried egg. I received a hockey puck on top of my burger - which I asked my wife and she said that's what she would have expected but I think anywhere else in the world the egg should run when you break the yolk. Would have liked to try the adjacent restaurants but was overruled by family. ironically they were also disappointed.

This was so fun! Highly recommend visiting here and getting the ice cream, wine and chocolate!!

Bar
Located in downtown Glen Arbor, Art's Tavern is a popular and cozy pub known for its American bar food and wide selection of beers. The tavern offers an outdoor patio where patrons can enjoy people-watching while indulging in their specialty burgers, white fish on Fridays, chicken jalapeno soup on Wednesdays, shrimp dinners, eggs benedict, and apple white cheddar omelet.
Delicious burger, my wife had the olive and I really liked the blue cheese with bacon. Generous basket of onion rings. I really enjoyed the Cadillac margarita and she had a diet Vernors. The pool table actually can be lowered into the floor to create more space. This is a very fun place, with great bar food and servers were hustling. Bring cash they don’t accept cards.
Tim T — Google review
Very cool. Two different spot-on recommendations, beer and fish. Biking from DH Day, great day. If you come in with 10 people and expect space and right-now-ma'am service, please go home. This area is busy as hell, place is always full, like everything else here. Don't be the problem.

Me and my fiancé came here twice on our 3 nights and 4 days that we were here and EVERY-TIME we came it was GREAT ! Food came out fast and super good and the employees are AMAZING !! Super nice to everyone they don’t get enough credit for what they have to go through during the busy times here thank you again for such a great time 🩷
Sky H — Google review
The service and decor is great! However, I have to hold at four stars because they are cash only, and my burger seemed a bit small for the price.
Milton A — Google review
Typical tavern's foods here. The fried smelts were very good. The Reuben sandwich was decent. A good stop on our visit to Glen Arbor. BTW, this is a cash only business.
SL K — Google review
It is rare to see the entire staff acting as if they are family. But that’s exactly how it felt at Art’s Tavern. The people were the friendliest of anywhere! We didn’t stop in until after dinner. But I am told they have the best burgers in all of lower Michigan!
Jessica T — Google review
Great service and delicious food. I had chicken jalapeño soup special, and my kids had burgers and fries( they make their ground beef fresh daily) and cherry cream soda.I recommend all of those!
Maysa W — Google review
Been coming here for over 25 years. Whomever the host was today was completely rude (he was on the outside station at 10:45 AM this morning, grey short beard). My wife, three kids and I went to put in a name. He wouldn’t tell us when we could be seated, just that breakfast was over. Then he said sometime on the patio whenever that opens up. I had to explain to my kids that some people just don’t want your business. He was clearly one of those, seemed to despise tourists. When I asked him why he was rude his answer was “that’s why they put me out here”. Really strange. I just noticed through other reviews that ownership changed a few months ago. Hoping the new owners see this review, and if they care, train up their host. In the meantime I’ll go to the many other great restaurants here, that welcome tourists. the coffee and baked goods are great at The Mill …. So long Arts.

Nestled in a charming log cabin built in the 1920s, Cottage Book Shop is a well-curated bookstore offering a wide range of books, from best-sellers to unique prints by local artists. The store boasts an impressive local section that provides insight into the northwest Michigan community. Visitors can expect a cozy and welcoming atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff who are eager to assist in finding the perfect read.
Ever been to a bookstore in a cabin setting? Here it is in Glen Arbor. Wife variety fiction and nonfiction plus history and travel. Plus puzzles and art supplies. Support small business.

Beautiful store that is locally owned. I love their local author highlights and staff pick favorites. Also learned the Cottage was hoisted and moved to it's current location. Talk about saving and preserving. So lovely!
Alyssa S — Google review
This tiny bookshop consistently punches above its class. Yes, there are plenty of regional content to pull from. But this shop also is loaded full of thought provoking material cross disciplines. The kids section is top notch. And I have not been able to leave there without buying an interesting item. And the staff is extremely willing to help you
Uzoma N — Google review
I tend to go to the library nowadays to get books for reading, but I couldn't resist treating myself to a mystery nook while on vacation. Also purchased some postcards to send to relatives overseas. This bookshop is cozy, has lots of interesting funds, and great prices!
Nina T — Google review
I absolutely love this shop, and we have been coming here once a year on our vacation for the last 15+ years. That being said, I am not pleased with the way the reward system is being handled. I have been a member for a long time, looking forward to buying a few (maybe more) books each year and receiving the discount. This year, to my dismay, finding your index card (and placing it back in correct order)is put on the customer. My card is not there. Nowhere in the correct spot for my last name. I was offered the option to make a new one, which I did. But I had a discount to use. And my card could be anywhere in two drawers. Another customer could have accidentally grabbed it and put it anywhere. Please put it back to the employees being in charge. I was very disappointed.
Jennifer R — Google review
Great selection of books for your beach vacation! Great art prints of the peninsula to bring memories of your vacation home or to decorate your cottage. Also a nice selection of books and travel games for your children. We love the collection of magnets made from vintage children's book imagery as well as the room of puzzles!
B R — Google review
Quaint and jam packed with character. We always tend to find ourselves here when we stop in town, and all of us (my wife, kids, and myself) tend to find something easily. There is a nice selection of souvenirs as well.

Very cute bookstore. Good selection! They even have a cute nook at the end of a section to sit and read in. Prints and gifts for sale here as well. Very charming

Glen Arbor Wines offers a wide variety of wines, some of which are seasonal. Visitors can enjoy a tasting session in the backyard to find their perfect match. The Tasting Room provides a relaxing setting with options for lawn games and deli snacks. Guests appreciate the welcoming atmosphere and outdoor space for tastings. With an affordable tasting experience and friendly staff, it's a great place to explore different wine options.
Damsels in Distress—Saved After a Delightful Tasting! We had an absolutely wonderful time at the wine tasting—the wines were so lovely that we couldn’t resist taking two bottles home with us! The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of character. However, our blissful experience took a turn when we discovered a flat tire as we were leaving. Thankfully, the kindness of the co-owner Rob and his neighbor CT, turned our mishap into a heartwarming memory. Locals immediately came to our aid with smiles and helping hands. It was the perfect end to an unforgettable visit—great wine, beautiful surroundings, and the kindest people you could hope to meet. Highly recommend both the wine and the town!

Absolutely loved our visit to Glen Arbor Wines! The atmosphere is so warm and welcoming — it truly feels like family the moment you walk in. The staff especially the owners, Rob and Lissa, were friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel right at home. The wine flights were fantastic — thoughtfully curated with a great mix of local favorites. Every glass we tried was delicious. I highly recommend the Chardonnay, it is some of the best Chardonnay I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to come back!!
Clare P — Google review
One of the best wine shops I’ve ever visited! The selection is phenomenal—reds, whites, and bubbles are all delicious and top-quality. My favorite was the Grüner—crisp, clean, and absolutely delicious. The shop itself is stylish, clean, and welcoming. Tastings here are a must-do, and the owners are incredible—fun, knowledgeable, and always up for great conversation. If you’re into wine or just curious to explore, this place is a gem. Don’t miss it!
Shane R — Google review
The space is very enchanting, loved my 45 minutes there, but whatever you do-DO NOT wait there and enjoy the live music while you wait for your spot at ART’s Tavern without buying something. You will get hounded by the big boss. Bleh- good wine though Speaking directly to the boss when I say don’t let business intrude on your humanity.. after all, it’s bad for business. You came off very rude and there was probably a hundred other ways to address the “issue”. Hope you learn new ways to approach people, or better yet, use my $16 donation for more seating.
Sara F — Google review
Wines are average but the service was great. Also they have two dogs you can sit with so that makes up for the wines. The space seems like a nice spot to hang out for the evening after dinner.
John H — Google review
Rob and Lissa are fabulous hosts who take a hand on approach in their wine bar. 🍷 My favorite was the Chardonnay and the Crystal River Red. If you like bubbly, The Fuzzy Bubbly is on the sweet side and the Gruner Brut is excellent! It's the perfect setting for a relaxing afternoon or evening with friends and family. They have several cozy seating areas with fire pits, outdoor games for kids and a fabulous Jazz Duo we enjoyed on the weekend. This spot is a must when visiting Glen Arbor. It's worth the drive from Traverse City and the surrounding areas, as well!
Kari W — Google review
Place was adorable and had potential for good vibes. Wine was good. Unfortunately, our server was distant, did not provide details about wine or tasting, not engaging, and felt rushed even though we were the only ones on the building. There is so much potential but did not get to experience that.
Sydney S — Google review
We went here after climbing the dunes this weekend! We were in search of a wine slushie, which they didn’t have, but they do have a vino sorbetto float which is essentially a popsicle in a glass of wine! Super tasty! We also got the Tuscan Herb popcorn which I highly recommend. The backyard is the place to be as it is nicely shaded, and they have lots of yard games (Big Jenga, badminton, bocce ball and more). We will definitely come here again!

Fine dining restaurant
New American restaurant
Nestled in the picturesque town of Glen Arbor, Blu offers a unique dining experience that beautifully marries upscale New American cuisine with breathtaking panoramic views of the water. Under the creative guidance of Chef Randy Chamberlain, this contemporary eatery presents a menu that is as dynamic as it is delicious, changing daily based on the freshest local ingredients available. Guests are often intrigued to learn that they won't see a written menu until 4:30 PM each day, adding an element of surprise to their culinary adventure.
It's going to be difficult to find enough good things to say about our experience about Blu but I will try. Every aspect of the dining experience at Blu was peak quality. We can start with the ambiance. The building is beautiful and there's a nice view of the water if you get a good table. Definition of fine dining experience is the best way to describe it. The food is excellent. We had the NY strip and the duck. Both were amazing. The duck is a staple, so much so that you get a numbered card to commemorate it. The service was amazing. Not only did they try to make our birthday celebration special they also accommodated my wife's special requests. Everyone was extremely friendly and accommodating. If you're looking for one of the best fine dining experiences in the Traverse City area, look no further.
Nathan B — Google review
Blu was astounding. The staff is truly the shining gem of this place they are warm welcoming while delivering an upscale experience at every turn. The food was beautifully presented and had incredible flavor with every bite. Our son got a tour of the kitchen and it made his whole evening.
Margo W — Google review
Light and airy atmosphere with high ceilings and skylights, this beautiful place on Lake Michigan serves up exquisite dishes of delicious food! I had salad and the gnocchi and shrimp appetizer, which was wonderful. My husband ordered the duck, which he loved. The flour-less chocolate cake for dessert was amazing. Our waitress was fabulous!
Elizabeth N — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at Blu. The service and setting were exceptional. We had a party of 6 friends. We all enjoyed our meals. The standout dishes were the crab puffs, whitefish, and duck. We have wanted to visit for a long time. I am so glad we did.
Jaimie H — Google review
This place has fantastic food, great drinks and wine list. My husband had duck confit, I had the salmon with shrimp and risotto. Try the crab puffs and fried green tomatoes. Morgan made it happen with a lakeside view for our anniversary.

Amazing 🤩 - best meal out we have had since Covid. For the past few years my wife and I have been so disappointed by meals out in virtually every category. We went to Blu with mid expectations due to this , just hoping for a decent meal while in Glen Arbor. We were absolutely blown away and so impressed by everything from the olives appetizer to the bisque and salad, the salmon and wagyu and don’t even get me started about the pear 🍐 my wife had and the pineapple upside down cake. A class act and we can’t wait to be back next year. Great job!!!
Three D — Google review
This was an absolutely stellar date night out for us. The venue is absolutely beautiful, lovely views of the sunset over the lake. Great beverage and wine list. The menu selections were a blend of classics and unique items and well executed, prepared to perfection. Our server was wonderful and I just can’t recommend this gem enough !
Missie J — Google review
My husband and I love the Glen Arbor area and always have difficultly finding restaurants that will accommodate my vegan diet. Blu was able to do so! The mushroom rissoto was excellent and all the appetizers we had were able to be modified to be vegan. I am very grateful that I was able to enjoy a meal, and my husband enjoyed his steak! Nick was very helpful in making sure I was accommodated. Atmosphere is nice with Lake Michigan in the background, but decor is a bit dated/country club like. We were the youngest in the dining room - but could also be due to our early reservation. Overall, we will likely visit again when we come back to Glen Arbor next summer! :)

Leelanau Coffee Roasting Co is a legendary coffee spot in Glen Arbor, Michigan, known for its freshly roasted coffee and specialty drinks. The cafe offers a variety of options including coffee, espresso, and fresh-fruit smoothies. Visitors can enjoy the delicious flavor of the air-bed roasted coffee while taking in the charming ambience. Located close to other shops and stores, it's a great place to grab some energy bites and relax outdoors with your drink.
This place is awesome and definitely worth a coffee stop! You're in for an extra special treat if Jess makes your coffee, because she is an actual human cup of sunshine. Miss Kate's Coffee Shakes are magnificent (highly recommend coffee ice cream in your coffee shake!), but keep in mind that they're more like a shake and less like coffee. We got pastries + shakes, and it was a bit much. Also, they have GF cookies (from Third Coast Bakery, an allergy friendly bakery in Traverse City), in case you can't do the regular pastries. They have tons of flavored coffees on site. It's worth a few extra minutes to check out the huge wall of coffees. I wish I had time to try them all out!! We're already excited to come back here later this week!

I've been coming here since they opened in the early 90s. Excellent coffee served by a great team. I love the varieties of coffee they sell from all corners of the earth. Their Miel Latte made with local honey is simply the best. If you're a coffee person or like awesome hot cocoa, just make coming here part of your daily routine while you're visiting the area. Congrats on 30 years in business!

This was a stop on our way back from traverse city. Overall, was happy to find some coffee in this seasonal tourist town. I’ll start by saying the staff were really nice and welcoming. I was although disappointed by their brew options. Menu felt similar to what you might find at a biggby coffee shop. Their specialty was more in the espresso drink department and smoothies. For a roasting company I would have expected they would have offered more than just espresso and drip coffee. I’d be curious to see what their food options taste like
Nabeel K — Google review
This place is awesome! I had found them online and ordered online before coming here in person. They have so many selections of coffee and every one I've tried is so good! They also have such an amazing aroma. The best smelling coffee I've ever had. I would strongly suggest going here or even ordering their coffee online. A huge bonus is also that you'll be supporting a local Michigan roaster and business.

Wonderful little shop in the beautiful town of Glen Arbor. Came here right before open one morning and the locals were all gathered around to start the morning with some coffee, everyone here is kind and helpful, and the shop has a cozy atmosphere. Coffee has room for improvement but it’s nothing to complain about.

Reasonably priced and super fast service! Love the selection of specialty brews, coffee was great!
Brianne N — Google review
While I didn't visit the coffee shop itself, I purchased a bag of Lakers Blend from my local market. Tried it in a french press, aeropress, and a pour over. It was not great coffee, considering the price I paid. It tasted like cheap diner coffee. Maybe thats the niche of coffee drinkers they"re trying to target? It wasn't bad tasting, just not what I expected from a premium coffee brand. There was no flavor to explore, just a single, flat boring coffee flavor. I compare it to Maxwel House or Folgers.

Fantastic little river excursion!! Took my daughters (18&21) for a paddle this morning and we had a blast. We had only kayaked once before, so we were a little nervous about the rapids. But it was super fun and very manageable for novice paddlers if you have some basic skills to steer. The outfitter was great. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Easy access to the site and the entire trip took us 90 minutes from arrival to exit. The scenery on the river is stunning and peaceful. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good memory.
John J — Google review
Really beautiful trip down Crystal River. They got my on the water even though I showed up early shuttled us out to the put in spot. Saw some wood ducks and babies, a green heron, three vultures, a deer, downy woodpecker, and many fish. Tons of wild Irises lining the shoreline! The waters were so clear and a great temperature. It was pretty quiet and not very busy making it the perfect chance to enjoy the nature. There are quite a few obstacles on the full kayak trip, but it made it a fun challenge.
Lauren B — Google review
Straight up review: Was told no private craft allowed on the river. That's not true. Some staff had an attitude. They actually forgot to pack an item we ordered. Kept urging us to finish as fast as possible. Good: The view of the river was unreal. You didn't need these folks to get it but you actually should because there really isn't a better way to see the river due to the exits. The trip is long yes. You will get a free trip in a third world like driver lol, to the drop off, then it's up to you. Carrying the kayaks was a bit tough. I could see some out of shape folks really having a tough time. But we were fine. Hopefully your experience with staff is better but the river is beautiful.

One of the best things we did on our trip! It was a cool and overcast day and we didn't see another soul on the river. We saw an abundance of wildlife, including a giant owl, deer, and river otters as well as lots of waterfowl. The second portage was tricky, not because it was long, but because getting into the kayaks on the other side wasn't easy. The little hill was steep and slippery and the water is rather deep on that side. It might be very hard for kids or for older folks, especially after a rain. Definitely let folks know that they will be paddling around obstacles during the first part of the trip. We have some experience kayaking, so it wasn't a big deal but it might be a surprise for someone who is not expecting it. The river is shallow, clear and lovely. A nice experience!

This was the second time we have gone kayaking with Crystal River Outfitters. Everyone there is very nice and accommodating. The equipment is in good shape. The drive to the beginning of the trip was short and comfortable. The river was calm and had plenty of spots to stop and enjoy a swim or the sights. I thought it was a good duration. We were slowed down a bit by some other people, which made the trip a bit longer than I would have liked, but that was not any fault of the outfitters. Great place, will come back.

If I could give more than 5 starts I would!! We had a group of 40 during the busiest week of the year. Our experience from reservation to return was smooth sailing! The staff was well prepared and incredibly helpful (special shout out to Nick!!). The river is clear, clean and fun ride for all skill levels. Some of our paddlers finished in 90 minutes while others took a full 3 hours to enjoy the float. We saw a few others while we were out, but we mostly had the river to ourselves. A great time was had by all!!

I booked our reservations for 10:00 on a Monday morning. It was a 40-minute drive from Traverse City. When we arrived, I couldn’t figure out where to park. There was nothing along the main building, so we turned around and found parking across the street down a drive. There were probably 10-15 spots, but it wasn’t busy when we arrived, so we easily found a space. We walked over to the building to check in. I was immediately impressed. They had a nice store inside, and it was by far the cleanest kayak outfitter I’ve ever seen. They checked us in quickly since we filled out our waivers online. Then we were told to wait outside by the cones for the next driver. They had several benches to sit on while you waited. There was also a port-a-potty next to the benches, but I opted to use one of the two nice bathrooms on the other side of the road. We didn’t wait very long before a driver had us load up. The exterior of the vans are very clean, but the interior of our vehicle had definitely seen use, although I still thought it was clean. When we arrived at the drop-off point, the driver explained there are 3 portage spots. One was just down the river about 10 minutes, and you had to carry your kayak around a small dam. That area was pretty level. The second portage was across a road, but you could instead just go down one of the round tubes underneath the road. You could only fit through the one to the left side. The final portage was also across a road, so you have to carry kayak up an embankment, cross the road and drop it in the other side. It wasn’t terribly steep, and the entry point does have steps. At that point, you’ll have another 10-20 minutes before you finish your trip. The beginning of the river has a lot of trees. We saw several birds and even saw a deer cross the river. It was very pleasant. The second portion of the river is much more open, and you start to see houses. If you haven’t applied sunscreen by this point, I would highly recommend it. You might also want some bug spray for the mosquitoes and biting flies at the very beginning of the trip. The water is wonderful. I have never kayaked on such clear water. You could see everything, including fish. It was such a pleasant trip. When we arrived at our final destination, several friendly staff helped us get out of our kayaks. By now, they were much busier, so I wasn’t sure where everyone had parked. It looked like most people had parked down a side street where the parking area exited, but the sign said you couldn’t turn right, which was odd since that seemed to be where most of the cars were. The total cost for the two of us was just over $100. We estimated we finished the trip in a little over 2 hours, but you could do it much faster than that. If I were to go again, I’d probably pack a lunch and eat somewhere along the river. I’d highly recommend this location for a n excursion. The staff are friendly, and the location is beautiful.

River Club Glen Arbor has recently opened a new putt-putt course, adding to its array of attractions including a walk-up dining spot, bar, and live music stage. The Mexican-style restaurant offers healthy and gluten-free options in an upscale Chipotle-like setting. The addition of the putt-putt course has been well-received by visitors as it provides a new family-friendly activity in the area.
River Club is like adult playground that is kid friendly. From the custom mini golf to the frozen margaritas, you will not be disappointed (unless you’re a total party pooper). This place is fantastic! Live music, great bar, fun atmosphere and a great shop onsite for River Club swag. This is a perfect place for a date night, meet up with friends, work gathering, or place to take the kids and also have a drink. It’s awesome to see places like this that can be all inclusive for families and young adults. We met the owners during their season opener this year and were delighted to learn that they will have live music 7 days a week in the summer!

This place. Wow. It is so unique and takes putt putt golf to a whole new level! The course is impeccably cared for and setup incredibly well, and challenging but still very fun. There are little stands at the start and finish of each hole so you can set down your drinks. We absolutely loved our time here. We played a round of putt putt golf which is unlimited for the day...they give you a wristband to show that you've paid. So, you can play until you drop. Lol And the music playing on the outdoor speakers was on point! They were playing some definite classics. We loved the music vibes! There's a gift shop, a couple different bars, a rooftop patio, chairs along the river to relax in while sipping some delicious local wine 😊, and an outdoor stage. We were there on a Monday afternoon, so they didn't have any music going on but I'm sure it would be incredible. Food is also available, but we had just eaten so we didn't order anything. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We wish that we lived closer or had a River Club by our house. It would definitely be our go-to spot for date night or just a day out with the kids. I can't recommend it enough! THANK YOU!
Suomirakastaa — Google review
My wife and I took the kids here, and we were pleasantly surprised with everything. The putt putt golf was very fun with little drink stands located at every hole (virgin drinks available as well). We ended up grabbing lunch and eating on the patio, which is located right on the river, which we enjoyed. The food was a little bit pricier than I expected but it was great and very filling. We will definitely be back though...maybe with just the adults next time.

Awesome, 20 out of 10 rating! Fabulous tasty real food and condiment choices, beer and wine choices, seating under shades or rooftop. Putt putt golf, live music Thursday thru Sunday. Gotta be here, love the Adirondack chairs at the river and clean wholesome atmosphere. Wish we had this in WA state!
CC T — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place right on the river with lots of seating, good food and drinks. They were setting up for live music just as I left. Really great spot to enjoy a beautiful day.

You walk through the entrance and its like its own little world.. Theres multiple bar areas, a place to get food (kind of like a qdoba/chipotle set up), outside tables + rooftop seating and chairs everywhere to relax by the water, live music, unlimited mini golf, etc etc.. Lots to do! The drinks and bowls were tasty. A bit pricey for the food and drinks.

The frozen drinks and golf was remarkable! The food was terrible . Kids chicken tenders were terrible , no flavor and chickens were all tortilla.Sadly, I would only recommend the golfing but the food is not it for this spot. The food is not authentically cooked and was cold and undercooked.

Alligator Hill offers three loops ranging from 3.0 to 4.7 miles, providing moderate woodland hiking with stunning views of Lake Michigan and Glen Lakes. While not as grand as other nearby trails, it offers a longer and more challenging experience with options for both easy and longer routes featuring steep climbs and descents. The trail provides breathtaking views of the lakes amidst a lovely woodland setting, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a heart-pumping hike.
Great area for hiking (or trail running) with 9+ miles of trails and a couple different trailheads that all intersect so you can choose your own adventure. Most of the trail is relatively low incline but there are some steep sections. Two lookouts, one over big glen lake and one of the best views in SBNL with the island overlook (you can see both Manitou Islands and South Fox on a clear day) Bugs can be bad in warmer months so pack some DEET and sunscreen, though most of the trails are covered in the woods. And make sure you pay your National Park fee!
Tristen R — Google review
I took the East Trailhead (Forest Haven), which is the shortest option (~2 miles out and back). The hike is entirely uphill on the way out. The trail is not maintained, so there are many areas with tall grass. There were some bugs, but not too bad. I saw 3 other couples on a Sunday afternoon. Personally, I don't think the view is worth the hike.
QL Q — Google review
Nice easy to moderate hike to an overlook of the Manitou Islands. Grab a trail map at the trailhead and just stay to the left. Younger ones may need more coaxing as the grade stays moderate to the overlook, but nothing too steep. The side trail to Big Glen Lake overlook is an easy add-on from here.
Chris M — Google review
Nice hilly hike. Well groomed but a great workout. No gators to be seen.
Cody B — Google review
One of my fave hikes. It's a not as grand as Empire Bluffs or Pyramid Point, but it's deff longer, and tougher. There is an option for the easy trail, which is around 4 miles, lots of ups and downs. Or the longer trail which is 6 miles, lots of steep climbs and decents. (Hence the names, bumpy like and alligators back) Only a few good views of Lake Michigan and other lakes, but they sure are breathtaking. Plus the walk through the woods is just lovely. Really good trail to get your heart pumping.
Drita D — Google review

Supper at the Mill was recommended to me by multiple people, so I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed! The setting is intimate and very unique. Loved the design and being right on the river. The food was incredible, and the staff knows the menu inside and out, which was helpful when trying to make decisions about what to order. Paige was an amazing server! We loved the open kitchen and watching the food be plated; it made for a really unique dining experience. 10/10, definitely coming back next time I’m in the area!

celebrated a birthday here with family and it was such a wonderful experience. the vibe was moody and cozy, creating a very understated yet refined atmosphere. our server was so friendly and helpful - she explained the menu and pointed out some dish highlights. everything we shared was a hit, but we especially liked the half chicken, burger, sweet potato, and the spruce tip ice cream. this is a really special place, and i hope to be back soon!

Food was absolutely decadent. Very rich and flavorful. Our group of 4 split 2 starters, 2 sides, and 3 entrees. The in-season cherry spritz was fantastic as well. Our favorite dish, while not pictured, was the hasbrown— it’s a must order! Our service was good and server was knowledgable. The speed at which our food came out was a bit varied, but overall great experience!

We had high expectations for a nice dinner here during our trip to Traverse City, Michigan. The dusty gravel driveway to the restaurant leaves you with needing a car wash. There are plenty of handicap parking spots but the restaurant is barely accessible for those customers so what is the point? It is a nice and quiet restaurant with limited seating. The milk bread was good but could have been a complementary item provided with dinner. My wife ordered the strawberry salad. I saw the lettuce being dumped from the supplier's container onto the plate. Some cut unripe strawberries were added and there was just a hint of dressing on it. I could have easily made that myself. I ordered the King Salmon. I guess I should have ordered several menu items to create a complete meal but I did not and this main course came without anything else. It was a big green blob on the edge of a plate. My hope that there must be a real nice piece of salmon underneath was squashed as well. More like thin salmon you buy in the frozen seafood section at the grocery store. Not worth $ 49 for sure. We left disappointed and still somewhat hungry.

The Totem Shop in Glen Arbor is a must-visit for those looking for a diverse shopping experience. From Murdicks Fudge to specialty shops like Cottonseed and Becky Thatcher Jewelry, the store offers an array of products including jeans, swimsuits, bicycles, paddleboards, lifestyle clothing, resort wear, Mitten-themed apparel from Momentum or Bay Wear. Visitors can also explore souvenirs at the M-22 Store and Petoskey Petes.
The customer service in the store is outstanding. I bought some beautiful tri-metal earrings last year and lost a piece of them. I called and emailed not really expecting much but hopeful I could buy just the piece of metal I had lost; the owner gifted me a new set completely free without hesitation out of the goodness of his heart. I couldn't believe his generousity and kindness. These are my favorite earrings and I would definitely recommend this store :)

I can't say enough good things about the totem shop! Their customer service and product selection is excellent! My wife found a unique pair of earrings that she loved. Unfortunately she lost one of these earrings and was extremely disappointed since we didn't live in the area. A quick call to the store and the courteous and friendly store manager, Ken Schwaiger, immediately found her an identical pair to the one she lost and shipped it out across the country to her the very next day. This type of true customer service is a rarity to find. I can't recommend this store enough. It's obvious that they care about their customers.

Are you 12 years old or under? (Or do you have a 12 year-old or under) Then the Totem Shop is the place for you to shop in Glen Arbor. Toys, fudge, clothes -- they have it all. I'm a bit biased in my description as the Totem Shop is a family favorite that has been here for years and my family has been going to since I was too young to remember. I always liked to go in and play with the toy swords, rubber band guns, and water toys or buy packs of plastic army soldiers to put on my sand castles along the beaches. It's seemed to me that the quality has gone down a bit in the past few years, but that could just be me getting older and more removed from the days playing in the shop.

This is a good place to find your souvenir t-shirt or sweatshirt from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. My son bought a pair of sunglasses last time we were in and it's really one of the two shops in town that we go to for souvenirs.

This used to be a quaint shop to find toys, candy, clothes, and supplies but lately the have brought in high end clothes like North Face (I do like these clothes) but have dropped the ball on the other items. Toys are lame and the other items that used to make the store have gone to stickers and shot glasses.

Glen Arbor Township Park is conveniently located within walking distance from most points in Glen Arbor. The park has recently been renovated and offers various amenities such as public restrooms, picnic seating under a pergola, a water bottle refill station, a playground suitable for both younger and older kids, green spaces, basketball courts, tennis courts, pickleball courts, sidewalks throughout the park, pavilions with picnic tables and benches.
This is the neatest park that I have ever encountered I think I must say. It has an outdoor gym, the most state of the art play area for the kiddos, it has tennis courts, ping pong table. The kids play area is actually very well build so you know that the kiddos won't get hurt playing on it. I honestly wish every city would have one that's build just as nice as this one. It has a family rest room, very clean and well stocked. We drive 45 minutes just to come here and enjoy the shops and ice cream shop a block away.

A good-sized park with lots of options. There is a playground with equipment both for younger and older kids. There are tennis, pickleball and basketball courts, outdoor exercise equipment in good shape and also two metal porch swings. There is one larger and one smaller, two pavilions with picnic tables, and benches all around for simply enjoying the park or for gatherings. There is even a water filling station, according to the township but I did not notice it while there. The park is also nicely maintained and beautifully designed. Edit: More pictures and info added.

Nestled in a chic woods-themed setting, Western Avenue Grill offers a diverse menu of American fare and an extensive wine selection. The ambiance is reminiscent of Up North with birch tree ceiling beams adding to the rustic charm. The restaurant is known for its delectable burgers, steaks, pasta, and whitefish dishes. Guests can also enjoy the crackling fire and well-stocked bar while savoring the great food.
Food was hot, delicious and quick. Everything was fantastic. Good atmosphere and good music. They have an outdoor area and an indoor area. We sat indoors because it was a really hot day. The presentation of the food was on trays similar to those in a BBQ smoked house (very cool place) clean space, friendly staff and their key lime pie was mucho banger!

First of all, this is one of the coolest resteraunts I’ve ever been inside architecturally. The supports are made of white birch trees! Service was great, the waitress was kind and very attentive. She did not have an issue with having a drink arranged as a virgin beverage for myself :) (most places will say they can’t). The food was delicious! I had the shrimp with pasta and a lobster bisque cup. I still dream of the lobster bisque til this day! It is well worth the drive up north! 10/10 recommend It is a little on the pricey side. So be sure to have extra monies planned for this trip.

Smash burger was decent but not super flavorful. Fries were crispy on outside and soft on inside. Cherry chicken salad was good but chicken was a bit bland and tomatoes were unripe. Cherry tomatoes would have been better. A bit expensive.

Stopped in for lunch. Got the whitefish pate as an appetizer, which was just cream cheese with some whitefish mixed in. Didnt have the smoked fish flavor i was expecting and wasnt particularly spreadable, have definitely had better. Had the bacon smashburger, which was “ok”, but expected more for a $20 burger. Beer was good but on the pricey side. Our server was very nice and attentive. Our options were limited with places being closed for the season, but I cant really recommend this place if you want value for your money.

This was one of the BEST restaurant meals I’ve ever had. Our server, Ashley, was attentive and friendly. The meal started with a farm fresh salad and I would highly recommend the cherry balsamic dressing…it was divine! We also had delicious fresh bread while we waited for our meal. I ordered the short ribs and was blown away with the depth of their flavor. My husband had the whitefish which melted in his mouth and also had excellent flavor. My sons and daughter-in-law also enjoyed their meals - ribeye, chicken and pork chops. It was a pricey meal for my budget, but it was so good we all felt like it was worth it! We will definitely eat here again. The only complaint we had was it was a hot day and the restaurant was 83 degrees, so a bit toasty for our taste. However, the excellent food and service made up for that & we were glad we chose to come.

We stopped here for lunch after hiking at Sleeping Bear Dunes. We got super lucky because we found a parking spot in the tiny parking lot AND we got seated right away! The service was good and we got our food pretty quickly. The portion sizes were pretty ample. They even filled the chicken chili to the absolute brim! That chicken chili… was incredible. It had the perfect amount of broth to substance. The beans didn’t overtake the chicken. It came out with a generous amount of cheese melted into it. Like I said, incredible. The turkey sandwich was huge! The wheat bread paired with the dill havarti well and the turkey itself was juicy and thick. I loved the tang of the red onions too. The kettle chips were sooo delicious and definitely addictive. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! We want to come back to try their breakfast in the future!

We had for lunch soup, bean dish, and local catch sandwich. Arnold Palmer for the drink, nice and refreshing on such a hot day. Atmosphere was fantastic. We will be back when we visit again.

It was a great little breakfast spot. Great atmosphere and very nice people. It gets busy don’t have a ton of seating inside. But if you’re going in the summer months they have a decent amount of seating outside.
Nick L — Google review
We ate dinner on 4th of July. All dinners come withba house salad and bread. We got a braided bread - both the salad and bread were delicious. Our order Kids white fish- bland, fishy - daughter didn't eat it. Veggie stir-fry with wild rice- this is the first time I saw a stir fry dish floating in a oaxean of soup. I didn't care for the wet texture the veggies themselves wouldve been good but in the watery sauce - they were all super soggy. The soup/sauce didn't taste good- was not balanced well- had a tart acidic taste to it. Tea and spice grilled chicken- this was the only flavorful good dish in our order tonight. The chicken was well grilled, the Yukon potatoes with it were amazing (though v less in quantity). The food i could say was of good quality ingredients, I wish they paid more attention to how they tasted. Our server was great and spoke well and paid attention to us.

The Bear Paw Pizza & Market in Glen Arbor offers a charming atmosphere where customers can enjoy circular pies and craft beer. They serve a variety of traditional and deep-dish pizzas, including the popular Pepperoni Bacon and Hula Bear with ham, pineapple, peppers, and tomatoes. Additionally, they offer subs and salads that feature hefty portions of meat. While the seating is limited to outdoor areas only, the quality of food is exceptional. The staff are friendly despite the busy nature of the establishment.
Delicious pizza. Ordered carry-out and it was ready in 15 minutes. Tasty crust. Friendly folks working there, too.

Delicious pizza, no frills restaurant. Order pizza at the counter, then it's sit down and self-serve from there. Grab your plates and silverware from the counter. No public restroom.
Wandering L — Google review
We’ve been here a few times and it’s worth every trip. The crust is delicious and a 45 min wait at dinner time is very reasonable. We tried the BLT when they used to serve it - not many places do a BLT pizza the right way but they did! Hopefully they bring it back! Either way, we love this place!

Edit. After reading your response, I have a rebuttal. Your name literally says pizza. It is up to you to determine how you choose to treat people who are not like you. It is up to you to make people feel welcome. It is up to you to treat people with kindness. Your review is deserved. I don’t think they like brown people whose first language isn’t English. They did not give my family the time of day, plates or napkins. Horrible service.

You pay a bit of a premo price, but that's because you're in a tourist spot. However, the pizza is on point. I recommend you get the package deal, as it cam with bread and a 2 topping pizza that qas quite large, and quite delicious. Crust was crispy and chewy, cheese was melted ans stringy, and the sauce was flavored well. I'd definitely order from here again if I come to town in the future.
Tilicki J — Google review
We get a pepperoni pizza and a salad as a carry out every time we drive into town. It's the perfect first night meal. Incredibly large pizzas, the toppings are crips and flavorful. It wouldn't be a trip to Glen Arbor without Bear Paw Pizza.

The pizza is great. You can eat there but it is a convenient store atmosphere. Easy takeout. We are at the restaurant and it was fine. Nothing fancy.

Was going to go there to order a pizza. Saw there was a bar next door so we decided we were going to go there call and order a pizza while we waited. We were about to walk over and the owner was walking in and rudely told us we couldn't park in her lot if we weren't staying there. Needless to say we left, parked at the bar and ordered pizza down the road at millies. Thanks, they were great

Whether it's a sunrise or sunset trip, guests can indulge in the thrill of fishing while taking in stunning views. With top-notch equipment and years of experience, Captain Bill ensures a successful and enjoyable outing. Guests have praised his kindness, knowledge, and helpfulness, making every moment on the trip worthwhile.
My husband and my father have been out fishing with Captain Bill numerous times, and have always returned home with glowing reviews for Captain Bill’s expertise at finding all the right fishing spots. So I finally joined them today for a fishing trip, and I’m glad I did! Altogether, we landed FOURTEEN salmon and trout in just a few hours. The views were spectacular and the sunrise was gravy on top of a lovely fishing experience. Will happily join them again next year. Highly recommend!
Caroline C — Google review
Captain Bill showed us a great morning on the lake! My husband and I were excited to take our 10,8&6 year old kids on their first fishing adventure and we were NOT disappointed! Captain Bill was prompt, professional and extremely kind and patient with our young kids. He knew exactly where to go and how to reel in fish very quickly! We reeled in six large trout in about an hour and the kids were amazed by the entire experience. He then recommended The Western Ave Grille, just up the street, who so kindly cooked our fish that evening for a very special dinner and an unforgettable day with the family.
Anna L — Google review
Went out with Captain Bill the morning of June 25. He was at the dock waiting for us. Very prompt, knowledgeable and courteous. There were five of us and we all caught our limit of Lake Trout and one Salmon. Went back to Captions Bills and he cleaned, fileted and de-boned the fish for us and even gave us some reciepes for smoking, deep frying and grilling our fish. Had a great time. Would recommend Watta Bite to anyone. Next time we are in the area we will call Captain Bill again.
Mike S — Google review
Captain Bill was fantastic and put us right on the fish for a fantastic morning charter. He was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. We took his recommendation on bringing the fish over to the Western Grill in Glen Arbor to have it prepared by the chef. The lake trout made for some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had in my life! Great experience all around and definitely recommend heading out on Captain Bill’s boat for a beautiful trip and great fishing experience out on the lake.
Dane K — Google review
Went fishing with family and caught 124lbs of lake trout before 10:00am. Capt Bill was awesome & very knowledgeable regarding the fishing as well as the area, being 4th generation to the Glen Arbor. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to catch some big fish & see some great views of the lakeshore from the water.

We had such a great fishing experience with Captain Bill! He knows the lake and where the fish bite! We caught our limit of HUGE lake trout! Thank you Captain for a fun day and your help in creating such an incredible memory for our children!

I had a great late season experience with Bill in the Glen Arbor area of Lake Michigan on Sept. 16. Bill was everything a local guide is supposed to be. Great day on the lake with limits of lake trout and my first 2 King salmon. I have fished with guides in many states and Canada and I rate Bill in the top 5%. A pleasure to fish with - knowledgeable of his local and perfect advice on techniques. There were no missed fish!

Had a beautiful King Salmon trip out of Glen Arbor with two adults and four kids age 9-17. Captain Bill was awesome! He knows where the big Kings are and we caught a pile of them! Very reasonably priced, excellent equipment and he cleaned and bagged all our fish!

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, located in Northern Michigan, offers a serene family vacation with various camping opportunities and activities for all ages. The park features sandy bluffs towering 450 feet above Lake Michigan, providing breathtaking panoramic views. Visitors can enjoy biking, swimming, and hiking while taking in the stunning scenery. The area is managed by the National Park Service and boasts spacious campgrounds with helpful rangers. However, some shores may have aggressive biting flies.
Awesome. Natural Beauty on its best. Can’t put in words to describe the Lake Michigan endless view. Water Color is simply superb. Must visit place. 2-3 days recommended if you are interested in doing many activities including hiking, and other water activities.
Raviraj P — Google review
We were lucky enough to snag a walk-in campsite at the Platte River campground on the last weekend of September. The entire campground was booked, but the walk-in sites were spaced so that we rarely saw other campers unless passing on the trail to their campsite. The geography of this place is stellar, literally. Sleeping Bear Dunes is a National Dark Sky site. Due to lack of light pollution, you'll see the stars here with incredible clarity. Bring binoculars!
Marirose M — Google review
This place is amazing! Possibly the cleanest part of lake Michigan! Water quality is good for swimming and water activities. In my opinion, not as good as Lake Huron or Lake Superior but still pretty good. The surroundings are very picturesque. It is super nice to walk by the different beaches and explore waterscapes. It is an amazing place to visit. It was definitely better than expected.
Julian M — Google review
Beautiful place to see Lake Michigan, gorgeous trees with falling 🍁 leaves in October and early November. Empire has a visitor center that is generally open. Not in October 2025 due to the government shutdown 😥. Thankfully there are areas for nice hikes and walks in areas safe. keep in mind don't take long walks because of you have an injury no guarantee for help. Be safe. Enjoy the park area. We like the beach area of Glen Haven for a walk along the beach which is very beautiful.
Diana K — Google review
The government shutdown made getting a passport stamp impossible as the Visitor Center was closed; that was disappointing yet far too often par for the course for our federal government. However, the National Lakeshore itself was/is SPECTACULAR! The entrance to the Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive was not staffed and when I tried to pay online, there was not enough cellular signal to reach the website on which to pay. I then realized many cars are going through anyway so I did, too. VERY glad I did. It was a beautiful sunny day, the drive is one-lane, one-way, and twists and turns amongst the dappled lighting of the sun through the forest canopy. THEN, the forest will open up to various turnouts and parking areas for many scenic lookouts and trailheads. There are many large plaques throughout to educate all on the history and science of the land and the peoples who have inhabited it. Definitely check out every lookout. They are breathtakingly wonderful and a great reminder of powers greater than us.
James C — Google review
We had an amazing time here. The water was unbelievably clear and the people were super friendly. We visited the local historic village and maritime museum, climbed the sand dune, drove the scenic stocking pierce loop, had a bonfire on the beach on a completely clear night full of stars, visited the visitors center, and got our junior ranger badges in our 3 night visit. We stayed at D H Day campground, which I highly recommend due to its cleanliness and proximity to the beach. Book your site early, because the sites reserve out quickly.
Thomas L — Google review
Beautiful place to explore, but if you decide you want to walk to the shoreline it's approximately 1.75 miles one-way and at times the path is steep and strenuous climbing up and down sand dunes. Pay close attention to trail markings and step foot imprints and make sure you bring plenty of fluids. We ended up mistakenly going off trail (limited markings) and got lost for about 10 minutes and went back to the shoreline again to find paths of footprints. We also didn't bring enough water, which compounded the urgency of getting back on the return path.
Howard S — Google review
Amazing place to visit 🌄 🧡 Feels as if you're standing on the edge of the earth. I'm definitely going back 🙂 Plan for a whole day if you want to venture down the dune. I recommend the Pierce Stocking Scenic drive for fast viewing. It was filled with beautiful sites, including the Lake Michigan Overlook spot. It is easily accessible and the path is short.

M22 Glen Arbor is a popular stop for tourists, offering a variety of products and experiences. The store features the M22 brand, known for its impressive apparel and unique wooden/canvas art pieces. While some visitors appreciate the friendly staff and well-organized events like Easter bunny and egg hunts, others hope to see more diverse merchandise, especially in terms of hats. The store's location in the quaint town of Glen Arbor adds to its charm, with beautiful surroundings reminiscent of the Caribbean.
We went with our kiddo for the Easter bunny and egg hunt. The event was nicely done!! The M22 store and their event center were both very nice and staff were great. Thanks all!

My kids love this store. The T-shirts are very creative. I think that the apparel is a bit overpriced for the quality but… it is for the logo!
Laura C — Google review
The most M22 merchandise you can find anywhere. Lots of great hats, hoodies, and stickers! Plus some other great brands like yeti and Cotopaxi items. Everything we got was great quality, the staff was wonderful, and the music was great. Also stop by the wine bar for the perfect refreshing summer slushee!

We walked in at 8:15pm & they closed at 9. We were rudely told that last call was made at 8:11pm. They were already vacuuming n the store. It was completely unwelcoming after driving for 3.5 hours to get there. Disappointed, I do not recommend.

My husband and I stopped in to shop around and do some wine tasting. Wines were pretty expensive and average at best, but the woman working behind the counter was great and the staff had set up a couple bon fires outside to keep us warm. Can't complain with that customer service! We will be back!

We got a couple cute things, including a shirt, sweater and a to-go coffee cup. The coffee cup has started to lose its logo and I have ever only hand washed it, no abrasive materials or anything. I am quite sad about it since everything is over priced as is. Love M22 but sad the quality isn't there. Sharing for someone to see and hopeful they won't make the same mistakes we did with buying the coffee cup... I don't normally write bad reviews but I only got it in June.

Very rude staff! I’ve been going to Glen Arbor for the last ten years and every time we visit this store the old sales lady is extremly rude. This last visit I had my 7 month old twins with me and as my MIL was pushing the stroller through the door the sales lady started yelling “ oh no! No, no, no strollers! You can’t bring a stroller in here! Yeah I understand they have “artsy” stuff they don’t possibly want broken, but she could have been a little more tactful. Her rudeness cost her a possible sale and future sales from my family. Every other store and restaurant we went into was so nice and helpful with holding doors open and even asking about the babies. If you like Ruth Conklin and other craft artist works I’d recommend buying somewhere else.

This seems like a really well maintained coast guard station and museum, however we arrived shortly after they closed at 5pm. There is plenty of parking and great access to the beach from this location. The beach is calm and did not seem as crowded as the others nearby.

This was the best place to visit! Go to Glen Haven't Village, drive past the beach area, and continue to the Maritime Museum. We had plenty of parking. Talked with a great volunteer at the boat house. The views are awesome! Then explored the Keepers house. Let's just say that might be the best front porch view ever! What even better is the beach access there. It was less crowded and more calm. We played for 2hrs and is gorgeous! Wow really loved this stop!

Gorgeous views of Lake Michigan and the dunes. There are some nice hiking trails too. The scenic drive had multiple spots to pull over to see the dunes or the water. We arrived in the early afternoon and there wasn’t too much of a wait to enter. I highly encourage visitors to purchase their passes at the Visitor Center or other designated locations prior to going through the main entrance so the entrance time decreases. On our way out there was a line of vehicles almost to the road you turn off of to head into the park.

D. H. Day Campground is a simple and rustic camping spot, perfect for summertime relaxation and family bonding. The campground offers vault toilets, drinking fountains, and the option to purchase firewood from a vending machine. However, it's important to be cautious of poison ivy around the cleared sites. While reservations are now required, the campground provides a peaceful environment with enforced rules to protect both visitors and wildlife.
Fabulous park service campground. Pit toilets were quite clean and lots of shady sites, many of which were quite private compared to state parks. We also got lucky with no black flies and mosquitoes! The lakeshore is a quick walk and the Sleeping Bear Heritage trail runs right through it. So easy to hop on bikes and get right up to the Dune climb on a paved path in just a few miles.
Stephanie P — Google review
This is our second time here in the last few years. It’s not a bad place, love the beach access. The bathrooms are disgusting, no showers or sinks at all, port a potty style “vault” toilets. Stinky and dirty. The sites are way too close together and we were shushed (😡shhh) every single night. We have a kid with us and it’s the weekend, we wanted to laugh and have s’mores by the campfire after our day of adventures. But we had to whisper and our fun was ruined with every shhh! It’s a 25 minute drive to the nearest shower and that campground seemed a lot more fun so we will probably check that one out next time.
Sara A — Google review
We camped here for two nights with our dog and were very happy with it! It was a nice quiet campground. Our site was pretty large and fairly quiet. There aren’t any showers and the bathrooms are outhouses (which we knew when we booked), but the outhouses were pretty clean.

We loved staying here! Just like others have said there is a ton of poison ivy so be careful. But the campsite was great with super easy access to a beautiful beach which is great for sunsets. Easy access to all there is to do in the area.
Haley S — Google review
The campgrounds were nice. No flushable toilets or showers but the beach that is at 55 site is outworldly! So take a bath there lol
Julian M — Google review
Worst National forest campground we’ve ever been to. Be sure to arrive with your batteries full no generator usage at all… unless you’re in site 1-30??? But barking dogs are fine. Even pit bulls and mastiffs. There is a long list of rules you’ll get when you check in. No trash cans throughout the park. Only at the entrance? Very confused by this tyrant park, who is running the show? Beautiful beach but Poison oak everywhere. Not very fun or relaxing. We checked out after one night. Next!
Rebecca D — Google review
Very nice campground. Some sites are more private than others. So you have good choices. I prefer a tad more space between sites. But it was close to a lot of recreation opportunities. Beaches. Trails. Dunes. Wilderness.

Sleeping Bear Point Trailhead is the starting point for a loop trail that takes you around Sleeping Bear Point, offering a mix of historic sites and natural wonders. The trail begins at the parking lot of the Sleeping Bear Point Coast Guard Station Maritime Museum and leads to sand dunes, a ghost forest, and stunning views of Lake Michigan and Manitou Islands. The trail is suitable for families with young children as an alternative to the challenging 'Dune climb.'
I highly enjoy this trail and beach! The entire National Lakeshore is encredible in my opinion, but this trail is something special. It's not too busy or challenging like the overlook or the dune climb and it is SO peaceful. It's quiet with just the sound of the waves and the birds being heard. Speaking of birds, it's a great place to find the endangered Piping Plover which is super cool and I got to see one! Highly recommend!

No dogs. Go clockwise to the bluffs for the awesome overlooks. Initial half mile shaded and generally packed surface…and then the sand workout. Not for those in poor shape. Nice blow out and ghost forest walk. Bring water. Amazing!

Great trail, so much to see!!! We first took a short path to the sandbar walked along the lake and listened to the waves Then started the loop, it’s about 2.8 mile took us about 1 hour 15 min, pretty easy but walking on sands definitely felt very different . The posts along the way were easy to follow. The trail has some ups and downs, great overlooks toward sand dune, lake and mountains. Last part of the trail leaded us in the pine woods. Highly recommend this trail, if you are in the area.

Whether you're an avid hiker or just looking for a serene escape, Sleeping Bear Point Trailhead is a must-visit destination that captures the essence of Michigan's natural beauty. Highly recommended for a memorable outdoor adventure!

I’ll be brutally honest here.. I’m not seeing that it’s noted that in the Dune areas there are biting flies when it’s very hot or humid. It’s 100% Beautful there. A friend and I ventured up one side of the dune with no issues. Once we hit where you see the blue pole.. on our decent down we started to get attacked by Stable flies. They bite and they swarm. We read after that deet may not even work to deter. Please be cautious with children. Recommend that if you go long pants. Sleeves. In the heat we read it’s worse. It’s not fun. We ran out of there. It was insane. Be safe.

Beautiful trail! Follow the trail post. Been hiking these dunes all my life and never followed the trail and am so glad we did. Took us to high parts of the dunes with spectacular views to quiet parts of the cedar woods. Will hike it again!

If you have children, access to the Sleeping Bear Dunes Natl Lakeshore from Glen Haven will allow the little ones completing their hike/walk from the parking lot to the beach(about 1/2 mile). The parking lot at the trailhead is fairly large. However, bring sunscreen and water because you will need them. Gorgeous views from the high points. When you are done with the area, drive over to the Sleeping Bear Book Center (next to the Dune Climb in Empire), about 2 miles drive to check out the books and other materials the NPS has to offer.

Good Harbor Bay Beach is a true hidden gem! The views are absolutely stunning, the beach is quiet and uncrowded, and the gentle waves are perfect for families. It’s clean, dog-friendly, and ideal for a relaxing day in nature. Don’t miss the sunsets—they’re magical!

This is the best beach at the sleeping bear dunes national lakeshore in my opinion. The nature is pristine. Resembles white sand beaches in Hawaii. You would never assume that this is a lake beach. It resembles ocean or sea beach. I just wished the water quality was as excellent as that of lake superior’s or lake huron’s. Don’t get me wrong the quality of the water was still very good, just not excellent.

Great beach, with plenty of parking. Fires are allowed, excellent for stargazing and anything else you can imagine doing at the beach.

This place is magical Bonfire on the beach Bring your fire cookware and you can make dinner right on the beach like us....kids would love it! Watch the sun go down and keep enjoying the beach!!! The water is stunning Tons of parking Bring a wagon or something to carry beach items there could be a walk to your area. Dogs are welcome on their own area.

One of the nicest beaches I’ve ever been to. Clear water, smooth sand, beautiful scenery. Wasn’t crowded, really felt like we found a hidden gem. 10 out of 10

Port Oneida Beach, located along the serene Caribbean shores of Lake Michigan, offers a tranquil and peaceful atmosphere with minimal traffic. This rock hound paradise boasts raw beauty and lacks any amenities or facilities. However, its breathtaking landscape compensates for the absence of conveniences. Visitors can relish in the pristine beach that is adorned with an abundance of vibrant and diverse pebbles.
To the little nephews this beach is called “Secret beach”. To my wife and I, this beach is our quiet oasis filled with incredible memories. True gem, please respect the beauty so others can enjoy and create memories.

A great overlook to see a sunset, or trail down to the beach and do some rock hunting along the shore, dip your feet in the water, catch some sun rays, and/or take your pet for a walk, just make sure they are on a leash. Not crowded for a 4th of July weekend. Only 1 other group of 3 people were there when we went. Seclusion at its finest. ☮️

Beautiful beach and not very crowded for a summer afternoon. Gorgeous views and rocks.

So quiet and peaceful. Low traffic. Rock hound paradise. No amenities or facilities except raw beauty along the “Caribbean” shores of Lake Michigan. Had to find the least rocky entrance to a refreshing swim but that all depends on the wave action. Amazing.

Super easy 1 minute hike. GPS will take you to someone's private property and house. The trail head is at the dead end sign, not the house

Art gallery
I arrived shortly after 5pm, only to find that the art gallery was closed. Nonetheless, I managed to catch a glimpse inside and admire some of the exquisite artwork on display. The gallery is conveniently located across from the Glen Arbor Art Center, making it a charming spot to visit at any time. However, I would highly recommend arriving before 5pm as many establishments in the area tend to close early.
We got here just after 5pm so it was closed. Still was able to peak inside and check out some of the nice art work the place has to offer. It is right in front of the glen arbor art center. The area is nice to check out at anytime but I'd recommend trying to make it before 5pm because alot of the places do close early.

Friendly art gallery, able to talk to the artists for insights on techniques used and history of their art. Reasonably priced.
